- 0:02Speaker 1: This is an Unspoiled network podcast. This is spoil Me,
- 0:09Speaker 1: covering one piece the live action Netflix series season two,
- 0:19Speaker 1: episode one, the beginning and the end. In this episode,
- 0:27Speaker 1: we rejoin our friends, we get to see Logtown. Everything
- 0:31Speaker 1: in the show looks great. I am so excited to
- 0:36Speaker 1: be back I when season three. Welcome to spoil Me,
- 1:02Speaker 1: Welcome to the show everyone. I am Natasha. Thank you
- 1:05Speaker 1: very much to Florian for commissioning this episode. Florian's here
- 1:11Speaker 1: in the chat. Florien, and I appreciate so much that
- 1:14Speaker 1: you not only were able to commission this whole season,
- 1:17Speaker 1: but that you did it so close to when it
- 1:20Speaker 1: was released, because I often have to wait a long time,
- 1:24Speaker 1: and it can be hard to remain unspoiled when something
- 1:27Speaker 1: is as popular as this series is. So I you know,
- 1:31Speaker 1: there have been already a couple things that I had
- 1:33Speaker 1: to very quickly, like tap away that was about to
- 1:36Speaker 1: be spoilery I could tell and oh oh, and thank
- 1:41Speaker 1: you to Bernadette. Florian says, Bernadette paid half, so it
- 1:46Speaker 1: follows up with team effort. Thank you very much Bernadette
- 1:50Speaker 1: as well. I really really appreciate it, y'all, Like I
- 1:54Speaker 1: just I really really enjoy the live action version. It's
- 1:58Speaker 1: the best of both worlds, you know. It's the awesome
- 2:03Speaker 1: costume design and set design. I mean, it must have
- 2:07Speaker 1: been so much fun to work on these as a creative,
- 2:10Speaker 1: but also it's the better version of the storytelling. I'm
- 2:14Speaker 1: gonna be very honest, I really love the one piece anime,
- 2:18Speaker 1: like it's got this place in my heart now, but
- 2:22Speaker 1: everything is so drawn out. It's just too slow paced
- 2:26Speaker 1: a lot of the time. Part of why ya commissioned
- 2:28Speaker 1: me to watch it three episodes at once, you know.
- 2:32Speaker 1: And the way that the show has taken that blueprint
- 2:36Speaker 1: and really boiled it down, punches everything up amazingly, and
- 2:40Speaker 1: just it makes stories that were already fun more fun.
- 2:44Speaker 1: It makes things that like didn't have enough tension more tense.
- 2:50Speaker 1: It just makes everything better. And I am like, just
- 2:57Speaker 1: really delighted to see an adapt taste that manages to
- 3:03Speaker 1: feel like it's so it's made by people who get
- 3:07Speaker 1: the original property and are honoring the vibe of that
- 3:12Speaker 1: property so much despite putting their own mark on it.
- 3:17Speaker 1: It feels very distinctive, even though a lot of the
- 3:22Speaker 1: stories are the same. And I just really am so impressed.
- 3:27Speaker 1: I went ahead and rewatched all of season one over
- 3:30Speaker 1: the weekend, which normally I would not have had time
- 3:33Speaker 1: to do, but I have an injury that makes walking
- 3:35Speaker 1: a little difficult lately, so I was on the couch.
- 3:38Speaker 1: And the first season is great. I mean, it was
- 3:41Speaker 1: even better than I remembered honestly going back through it.
- 3:45Speaker 1: Austin's its rumor is late next year due to their
- 3:47Speaker 1: filming schedule. I love that there was a typo that
- 3:50Speaker 1: made Austin's comment almost look like filming suicidal, which, like
- 3:55Speaker 1: considering the pace that they put up, sometimes can be
- 3:58Speaker 1: what it feels like. This season was as good, if
- 4:01Speaker 1: not better than the last, says Austin. Yay, delighted to
- 4:04Speaker 1: hear it. So let's begin the beginning and the end.
- 4:12Speaker 1: We start off here with some baroque works folk, and
- 4:21Speaker 1: I should probably like start this off by saying, anybody
- 4:26Speaker 1: who is joining spoil me for the first time. With
- 4:31Speaker 1: me covering this show, I will be talking about the
- 4:35Speaker 1: anime a lot, and I will be comparing storylines, and
- 4:38Speaker 1: there are going to be spoilers. So if you are
- 4:42Speaker 1: somebody who is like going through one piece for the
- 4:44Speaker 1: first time and you don't know anything, probably not the
- 4:47Speaker 1: podcast for you if you want to remain unspoiled, because
- 4:49Speaker 1: I'm going to be. You know, it's unclear how many
- 4:53Speaker 1: things they're going to follow according to the original well
- 4:56Speaker 1: the original is La manga, but according to the original anime,
- 5:01Speaker 1: so it's possible things I mentioned won't even happen in
- 5:04Speaker 1: the show. But I don't know, so I just want
- 5:07Speaker 1: to warn folk. And also I'm not finished with the original,
- 5:10Speaker 1: so there are going to be things that I don't know.
- 5:12Speaker 1: I'm currently in the Big Mom's storyline arc, so yeah,
- 5:20Speaker 1: I just want to let folks know what they're dealing
- 5:23Speaker 1: with here. So we're at Shellstown. They are being attacked
- 5:31Speaker 1: by pirates, y'all. This is one of those scenes that,
- 5:40Speaker 1: like I just need to say when it comes to
- 5:47Speaker 1: like threading a needle, this show has a real job
- 5:53Speaker 1: in front of it where it needs to be a
- 5:58Speaker 1: we need to feel that tension, but we also need
- 6:03Speaker 1: to be in the spirit of what one piece is.
- 6:10Speaker 1: We've got people walking around with the most insane fucking
- 6:14Speaker 1: outfits with powers that are goofy as hell. How do
- 6:21Speaker 1: we manage to make this feel like something that we
- 6:25Speaker 1: really need to worry about? These people need to be intimidating,
- 6:30Speaker 1: but they also wear a hat that has a dog's
- 6:33Speaker 1: face on it, like they're four years old, you know,
- 6:38Speaker 1: and that is an easy thing to pull off. And
- 6:40Speaker 1: I just keep being impressed with the way the show
- 6:47Speaker 1: manages to do that. Ooh, Florine's in the chat, Miss Valentine,
- 6:53Speaker 1: Mister five, and Miss all Sunday just as a name reminder,
- 6:57Speaker 1: Thank you very much appreciated. So am I allowed to
- 7:06Speaker 1: call her Robin though, like can I do that? I've
- 7:12Speaker 1: been like, we all know, right, Like I think probably
- 7:17Speaker 1: it's fine. But this opening scene, we've got marines running
- 7:25Speaker 1: from what appeared to be like straight up explosions, and
- 7:31Speaker 1: this woman comes out in this amazing lemon dress. This
- 7:36Speaker 1: is so accurate, and she says, you all are pathetic,
- 7:42Speaker 1: and this other guy strolls out saying, yeah, I knew
- 7:44Speaker 1: that they were meant to be weak, but I didn't
- 7:46Speaker 1: know it was going to be this bad. And this
- 7:48Speaker 1: lady stomps the marine in the head and kills her
- 7:54Speaker 1: in the most like it's just somehow stomping somebody to
- 7:59Speaker 1: death doing anything to them with your foot just feels
- 8:02Speaker 1: so dismissive, you know what I'm saying, Like really particularly awful,
- 8:10Speaker 1: and we haven't seen a southern man's fucking mister five's
- 8:18Speaker 1: ability yet. I believe that it's likely to be what
- 8:24Speaker 1: I believe it is in the show, according to some
- 8:30Speaker 1: of the context clues. But I cannot wait for that
- 8:33Speaker 1: reveal because that is really going to be something. And Okay,
- 8:41Speaker 1: so these two just the look of the both of
- 8:48Speaker 1: them is so fucking perfect, y'all. I wish I could
- 8:52Speaker 1: talk to the costume designer because they don't stay completely
- 8:59Speaker 1: totally accurate. They never do, but they come. They're very
- 9:04Speaker 1: careful about it, and how do you do this and
- 9:07Speaker 1: still make them? I mean, I swear to god, her
- 9:11Speaker 1: eyelash is even like it's so great. So anyway, Miss
- 9:18Speaker 1: Valentine is saying, like, what are we doing in this backwater?
- 9:22Speaker 1: And this is when Miss all Sunday strolls up in
- 9:26Speaker 1: her fucking cowboy hat and floor length white coat and
- 9:33Speaker 1: all the Marines have barricaded themselves in this room when
- 9:39Speaker 1: they it turns out they are here to find out
- 9:43Speaker 1: whether mister seven is actually dead because they had heard
- 9:46Speaker 1: the rumor he got killed in the first episode of
- 9:51Speaker 1: season one by Zoro when he was proposing that Zorro
- 9:58Speaker 1: join baroque works, and I just remember Zorro carrying the
- 10:05Speaker 1: bag with this guy's hair style just sticking out at
- 10:08Speaker 1: the top of it because the man was cut in
- 10:11Speaker 1: half so he like fit in a what amounts to
- 10:15Speaker 1: like a garbage bag. It was really it's really something.
- 10:19Speaker 1: But uh yeah, they are talking about the fact that
- 10:22Speaker 1: this is going to be a problem, and we have
- 10:26Speaker 1: like a moment of asking, oh, this is the work
- 10:29Speaker 1: of Rowan Noah Zorro am I right, And I just
- 10:34Speaker 1: need to mention that, like the scene leading up to
- 10:36Speaker 1: this is the first time that we are seeing Miss
- 10:39Speaker 1: all Sunday aka Robin's Power, and I am impressdo Here's
- 10:50Speaker 1: the thing. Robin's Power is fucking creepy. It's just unsettling.
- 10:59Speaker 1: It is so upsetting, dude, Like every time they use
- 11:03Speaker 1: it in the show, I'm always like, this is so useful,
- 11:07Speaker 1: but you know, and they really manage to make it
- 11:12Speaker 1: feel like a fucking horror movie when we are going
- 11:16Speaker 1: down that hallway and all of those arms are coming
- 11:19Speaker 1: out of the walls, out of their bodies, shooting themselves,
- 11:23Speaker 1: shooting their friends, Like, oh my god, it is so
- 11:29Speaker 1: fucking scary. Like I know this is my girl. I
- 11:35Speaker 1: know where we're going with her character. But if I didn't,
- 11:41Speaker 1: I would be like, oh no, I would be very worried.
- 11:48Speaker 1: Even knowing, I'm still worried because bitch's gotta do what
- 11:51Speaker 1: she gotta do. For a minute before we start to
- 11:53Speaker 1: get to like a nice part, you know, so we're
- 11:56Speaker 1: about to see some unhappy shit and it's uh, I
- 12:00Speaker 1: anticipate that we're getting some more horror movie moments coming up,
- 12:05Speaker 1: and I just really they they really managed to nail
- 12:09Speaker 1: her ability and the the kind of like I'm trying
- 12:15Speaker 1: to think of the word here, there's just something so
- 12:17Speaker 1: grotesque about it, and they really capture that and make
- 12:21Speaker 1: they do not it's not it's not whimsical, you know
- 12:25Speaker 1: what I'm saying. So anyway, Saraphim says, oh god, they
- 12:30Speaker 1: made her terrifying, and Austin says she is amazing. Florian says,
- 12:34Speaker 1: I never saw it before, but yeah, in the live
- 12:36Speaker 1: action I see. I cannot believe you never saw it before. Florian,
- 12:39Speaker 1: that's crazy. Like there are so many moments in the
- 12:42Speaker 1: show where I'm just like, that is, oh god, that's
- 12:45Speaker 1: so creepy. Like again, her ability is super useful and
- 12:50Speaker 1: she manages to be clutched a lot at the time,
- 12:53Speaker 1: but it's still like, look, hands, just lots of hands.
- 13:02Speaker 1: It's always creepy anyway, right, Like, no matter what context,
- 13:07Speaker 1: there is something about hands that are both so human
- 13:10Speaker 1: and also just hands is very dehumanizing, that there is
- 13:14Speaker 1: something in the way of like being kind of I
- 13:18Speaker 1: don't know, it sits in this weird area that's spooky
- 13:22Speaker 1: in this way. And then for them the hands to
- 13:27Speaker 1: be forcing people to do things they don't want to do,
- 13:30Speaker 1: to be coming out of their own bodies, so like
- 13:33Speaker 1: you're violating a person's self in a way when you
- 13:37Speaker 1: do this, Like it's really upsetting anyway. So yeah, they
- 13:41Speaker 1: really make an impression with her. And this guy is
- 13:46Speaker 1: telling them about that ron Zorro became a pirate and
- 13:51Speaker 1: now they're heading out to the Grand Line and mister
- 13:55Speaker 1: five is like, are you serious the pirate hunter became
- 14:00Speaker 1: a pirate? Oh okay, And Robin says, who's the captain
- 14:05Speaker 1: And we go over and see Lufy's wanted poster fantastic face,
- 14:11Speaker 1: and she says, interesting, now, I do have to mention
- 14:15Speaker 1: that Robin is one of the most beautiful women I've
- 14:19Speaker 1: ever seen, and I'm sure there has been things done
- 14:25Speaker 1: to make her so and that this isn't all naturally occurring,
- 14:29Speaker 1: but I just must say, wow, God damn, she looks
- 14:35Speaker 1: as close to the face from an anime as I
- 14:37Speaker 1: feel like you're gonna get in a person. It's remarkable.
- 14:43Speaker 1: So then we go over to the Sonny and it's
- 14:49Speaker 1: a it's really wonderful, guys. This is exactly the shit
- 14:53Speaker 1: that's like my absolute favorite when it comes to any
- 14:58Speaker 1: ensemble cast is getting to see folks just hanging out
- 15:01Speaker 1: doing their things and what they're like with each other.
- 15:05Speaker 1: And this is oos Up trying to like take the
- 15:10Speaker 1: pepper to make these pepper balls that are these weapons,
- 15:14Speaker 1: but of course Sanji needs to use the pepper to
- 15:18Speaker 1: fucking cook with. And I love the fact that this
- 15:24Speaker 1: feels like an argument. There's like an energy to it
- 15:26Speaker 1: of we've had this talk already, We've had to do
- 15:29Speaker 1: this a few times. And he's talking about the fact
- 15:35Speaker 1: that they're like running out of supplies, that he needs
- 15:39Speaker 1: to stop and get some refills on things because of
- 15:43Speaker 1: the way everybody eats, and also they need first aid
- 15:47Speaker 1: supplies and Oosap needs his own supplies for creating his
- 15:53Speaker 1: little weirdo gadgets and stuff. I am really looking forward
- 15:58Speaker 1: to that as well, seeing some of the upgrades of
- 16:00Speaker 1: what USAP is able to make. So they look at
- 16:05Speaker 1: each other and they both say better talk to Nami.
- 16:08Speaker 1: And this is wonderful because the last time that I
- 16:14Speaker 1: saw Nami and Soanji together, it was him being like, Nammy,
- 16:21Speaker 1: you're okay and holding his arms out and her running
- 16:23Speaker 1: right past him to her other two friends because she
- 16:25Speaker 1: doesn't fucking know Sonji yet, and of course she does
- 16:29Speaker 1: not want to hug him, and that's fine, and I
- 16:32Speaker 1: was sort of like, I get it, but I am
- 16:34Speaker 1: looking forward to this being more of a cordial thing.
- 16:38Speaker 1: And so we then have this lovely moment where he
- 16:42Speaker 1: has brought her out octopus to make, and I love
- 16:46Speaker 1: USAP being like I had an egg sandwich and she
- 16:49Speaker 1: gets octopus, which it's it's just the sort of thing
- 16:53Speaker 1: that like to an American, it's like, I'll have the
- 16:56Speaker 1: egg sandwich things. But I personally am a fan of octopus.
- 16:59Speaker 1: So I get what he's griping about. But I think
- 17:01Speaker 1: a lot of people would be like, no, I'm good.
- 17:05Speaker 1: And also we know he's trying to like butter up
- 17:08Speaker 1: Nami to get her to agree to do this thing.
- 17:10Speaker 1: So part of it is also he's done more here
- 17:14Speaker 1: in order to get her in a good mood. So
- 17:21Speaker 1: she says, I think I found our best route to
- 17:24Speaker 1: the Grand Line, but there is something dangerous ahead. There's
- 17:28Speaker 1: a weird waterway that cuts right through things, and Oosop
- 17:34Speaker 1: is pointing out this like open area and he says, well,
- 17:38Speaker 1: doesn't that seem like an easier way. It's much more.
- 17:42Speaker 1: It's literally called calm, and she's like, yeah, it's called
- 17:47Speaker 1: calm because there's no wind, so you just literally get
- 17:50Speaker 1: stuck in place because you can't move. And also it's
- 17:55Speaker 1: a breeding ground for sea kings and he's like, oh, yeah, okay,
- 18:00Speaker 1: I love I did kill a bunch of them once though,
- 18:03Speaker 1: so you know, if we it was it would be
- 18:05Speaker 1: no big deal. And then what about Logtown, Well, you know,
- 18:14Speaker 1: we might just stop over Lowtown. It's not a big deal.
- 18:17Speaker 1: And she is saying that's a major marine spot. I
- 18:22Speaker 1: feel like that's the exact opposite of what we want
- 18:24Speaker 1: to do. And we have a lovely little Sanjie. We're
- 18:29Speaker 1: Lulan food and pretty much everything. This would be our
- 18:32Speaker 1: last chance to stop and stock up. And I really
- 18:38Speaker 1: enjoy the way this, Sanji. You're free for the first
- 18:41Speaker 1: time in your life. Haven't you earned the right to
- 18:46Speaker 1: buy yourself a little something nice? And he puts his
- 18:50Speaker 1: arm around her and leans in, And this is what
- 18:53Speaker 1: I'm talking about, Guys. I really wasn't sure how they
- 18:56Speaker 1: could do. Sanji is the biggest four are most hopeless
- 19:01Speaker 1: romantic without making him a complete creep bag that we
- 19:05Speaker 1: don't want to look at or see. Ever. Again, it's
- 19:08Speaker 1: a very very tough thing, and they they're they're managing it.
- 19:14Speaker 1: He is putting his arm around her, but she isn't
- 19:17Speaker 1: seeming like ew, get off me. It's just her sort
- 19:20Speaker 1: of being like, oh Soanji, you know, and just the
- 19:23Speaker 1: charm of it, and oosap saying like, no, don't fall
- 19:28Speaker 1: for it. And he says, curse you, Sonjy and your
- 19:32Speaker 1: charm and your chiseled jawline and your ocean eyes. I
- 19:36Speaker 1: like to think that last bit was just improv because
- 19:40Speaker 1: there's something about the way the actor who plays Sanjie
- 19:43Speaker 1: reacts to him, saying that that feels to me like
- 19:46Speaker 1: that was a new one that he just tacked that on.
- 19:49Speaker 1: At the end, there, Austin says, Honestly, the way they
- 19:56Speaker 1: play him in the show, I'm shocked there aren't any
- 19:58Speaker 1: women who are interested. Honestly, Austin, that's the most unbelievable
- 20:05Speaker 1: part of this is they may they do so well
- 20:08Speaker 1: that Sonji's actually like appealing now and so, yes, I
- 20:13Speaker 1: get what you're saying. I'm so sorry. I just saw
- 20:18Speaker 1: Seraphim's comment earlier. After two seasons, the only casting choice
- 20:22Speaker 1: that wasn't utterly perfect remains Shank's wig, and I couldn't
- 20:26Speaker 1: agree more. I haven't seen it this season. I'm assuming
- 20:28Speaker 1: it's the same wig, but yeah, that was the one
- 20:30Speaker 1: thing in the first season that every time I see Shanks,
- 20:32Speaker 1: I'm like, what the fuck were they thinking? Man? What
- 20:34Speaker 1: is this? Detective? Trap? Says it would be It would
- 20:39Speaker 1: have been so easy for live action snjy to be
- 20:41Speaker 1: a creep, but they pull it off. Seraphim says, yeah,
- 20:43Speaker 1: he's flirty, but you can tell he'd take no for
- 20:45Speaker 1: an answer and not push anything. Oh, Austin says, yes,
- 20:49Speaker 1: it was ad lived. I love it. I love it.
- 20:53Speaker 1: I'm so glad because it was just there was a
- 20:55Speaker 1: real energy to him laughing that. I was like, that's
- 21:00Speaker 1: a genuine moment of unexpectedness that felt spontaneous, you know.
- 21:08Speaker 1: So anyway, and it's funny because like the whole thing
- 21:14Speaker 1: had been that Usap really wanted to go shopping, but
- 21:17Speaker 1: as soon as he hears that it might be dangerous
- 21:18Speaker 1: because there are marines, he's like, never mind, never mind.
- 21:22Speaker 1: So now he's pulling back and he goes to Zorrow
- 21:24Speaker 1: and asks Sorrow for backup, and he's like, oh shopping, Yeah, good, idea,
- 21:31Speaker 1: I need two more swords. I've been feeling off and
- 21:35Speaker 1: I there's something so funny, guys. The part in the
- 21:39Speaker 1: first season where Lufy says three sorts, where does the
- 21:43Speaker 1: third one go? And then when he does the three
- 21:47Speaker 1: sort style, Oh, that's where it goes, remains one of
- 21:51Speaker 1: my favorite jokes. It's so well done. So of course
- 21:56Speaker 1: we have the antagonism between Sanji and Zorro, with Sanji
- 22:00Speaker 1: being like, oh, you've been feeling off ever since the
- 22:03Speaker 1: complete ass whipping that Mihak gave you. There's no need
- 22:07Speaker 1: for this, Sanjy, stop it. So then we go to Loofy,
- 22:13Speaker 1: who is of course sitting on the sheep's head at
- 22:16Speaker 1: the front of the ship, and he has to be
- 22:22Speaker 1: convinced to go shopping against Oosop, still trying to be like,
- 22:26Speaker 1: you got to put your foot down, man, But you know,
- 22:29Speaker 1: when he's told that we're going to run out of food,
- 22:32Speaker 1: it's really like, come on, lastly, though, here's what Nami does. Well,
- 22:42Speaker 1: you know, it's also the place where gold Roger was executed,
- 22:48Speaker 1: and it's where the whole search for the one piece began.
- 22:54Speaker 1: It's the birthplace of everything and you just see and
- 22:59Speaker 1: it was also it's also his like birthplace of gold
- 23:02Speaker 1: Roger is really it's a lovely moment of everybody looking
- 23:08Speaker 1: at her and being like, oh, you didn't and it's
- 23:13Speaker 1: just great. You want to see it, don't you. And
- 23:15Speaker 1: Louviy just you know, I do. And then when we
- 23:20Speaker 1: go to Lowtown, y'all this place looks so good. I
- 23:24Speaker 1: don't know. We have a flashback first of just this
- 23:28Speaker 1: sort of like lovely camaraderie that happens between adversaries where
- 23:33Speaker 1: gold Roger is being visited by Garp and they have
- 23:36Speaker 1: a little back and forth. And then of course we
- 23:38Speaker 1: have gold Roger confiding to Garp, I have a son
- 23:42Speaker 1: and you need to look out for him. Because a
- 23:45Speaker 1: song shouldn't pay for the sins of his father, and
- 23:47Speaker 1: the way the show is playing it is making it
- 23:50Speaker 1: really look like Louviy is gold Roger's son, which is
- 23:54Speaker 1: what I thought the whole time. Eventually you find out
- 23:59Speaker 1: that is not correct, but you fucking completely think that's
- 24:04Speaker 1: who he is, and you don't find out what till
- 24:08Speaker 1: like episode what am I at? I'm at like eight sixty,
- 24:12Speaker 1: I think something like that, and I feel like we
- 24:15Speaker 1: didn't find out until probably like seven hundred. Maybe it's
- 24:21Speaker 1: a it's a ways into the show, maybe maybe further
- 24:25Speaker 1: back because dress Rossa was quite long, so maybe further back,
- 24:30Speaker 1: but it's a it's deep in there that you finally
- 24:34Speaker 1: discovered that is not Lufy's dad. Actually, so this is
- 24:40Speaker 1: really like if you were watching this for the first time,
- 24:43Speaker 1: it would be you would feel like, okay, we get it.
- 24:45Speaker 1: Show Lufy's son. You would almost feel like they're banging
- 24:48Speaker 1: over the head with this, and so watching it knowing
- 24:51Speaker 1: that that's not who Loufy is it makes it extra fun.
- 24:55Speaker 1: I'm like, nicely done, guys, this is a good one.
- 25:01Speaker 1: Oh my god, I'm so sorry. Florian says, want to
- 25:03Speaker 1: talk about Zorro and does a little flexing muscle emoji.
- 25:10Speaker 1: I don't want to talk about Zorro because that's just
- 25:12Speaker 1: for me, Florian. That's just personal, it's too personal. I
- 25:16Speaker 1: don't want to just you know, it's fine. We all
- 25:20Speaker 1: get it. We all get it. It's fine. Floriance is
- 25:24Speaker 1: in the five hundreds. Okay during Marine Ford that I'm
- 25:28Speaker 1: not gonna read Seraphim's comment just in case I'm giving
- 25:32Speaker 1: away things, but like, you know, that's fine, but just
- 25:38Speaker 1: in case. I really enjoy the just the whole relationship
- 25:47Speaker 1: between Garp and Roger. It's a fun, weird vibe. So
- 25:57Speaker 1: I don't know where they filmed for Low te It
- 26:00Speaker 1: almost looks like it could be in like Mexico or Guatemala.
- 26:07Speaker 1: There's a there's a certain type of architecture here that
- 26:11Speaker 1: is very much reminding me of some areas of Guatemala
- 26:14Speaker 1: that I've been to. But it is beautiful. They really
- 26:20Speaker 1: it looks so great. They walk in here and I
- 26:23Speaker 1: am just immediately like, yeah, this is a place, this
- 26:26Speaker 1: is real, and I like this remains impressive because like
- 26:31Speaker 1: the Barazzier last season, how gorgeous was that. I hope
- 26:36Speaker 1: that it shows up again because it just seems like
- 26:38Speaker 1: such a shame to pour the work they clearly did
- 26:40Speaker 1: into that set and then not use it again. But
- 26:44Speaker 1: this place looks fantastic, Austin says South Africa. Florian says,
- 26:51Speaker 1: they built a set. A lot of the locations are
- 26:53Speaker 1: built just for the show. Okay, cool and yeah. The
- 27:00Speaker 1: way that this is filmed also, there's just such a
- 27:03Speaker 1: sense of like they are in a place in a
- 27:06Speaker 1: way that is missing from a lot of stuff these days,
- 27:08Speaker 1: because so many places are using those like round I
- 27:13Speaker 1: can't remember what they're called, but it's like one of
- 27:15Speaker 1: those stages that's got like a twenty foot by twenty
- 27:19Speaker 1: foot it's like a circle and it has a sort
- 27:22Speaker 1: of dome, and so you can make pretty realistic looking
- 27:26Speaker 1: outside backgrounds, and if you just add like a little fan,
- 27:31Speaker 1: it makes it really convincingly look like these people are outside,
- 27:36Speaker 1: but there's always a sense of it not really being outside.
- 27:43Speaker 1: I think it's like a lack of anything in the
- 27:45Speaker 1: background other than the landscape. And if there's like a
- 27:48Speaker 1: fight scene, everything is contained within this certain area in
- 27:51Speaker 1: a way that kind of gives away there's not a
- 27:54Speaker 1: lot of space, and the filming of this scene, everybody
- 28:00Speaker 1: standing far apart enough, there's tons of people walking around
- 28:03Speaker 1: in the background s, doors opening and closing, We've got
- 28:05Speaker 1: vehicles moving, and it just is a whole world. It
- 28:10Speaker 1: just feels real, you know. I loved it. It was
- 28:13Speaker 1: so it was so satisfying for them to step into,
- 28:18Speaker 1: you know. So anyway, we have a Zoro having to
- 28:24Speaker 1: ask for money, which he's clearly uncomfortable with having to
- 28:27Speaker 1: do to get his swords, and I love Nami saying like,
- 28:31Speaker 1: it's a three hundred percent interest rate, by the way,
- 28:33Speaker 1: I'm loaning this to you, and later on when he
- 28:36Speaker 1: gives the money right back, she's like, it's still interest though,
- 28:38Speaker 1: so Nomy never ever change fantastic perfect no notes. She says,
- 28:45Speaker 1: you have to haggle. There's a price they want and
- 28:47Speaker 1: a price they'll take, and uh, I am not good
- 28:52Speaker 1: at this. I would be very Yeah, I don't like it.
- 28:56Speaker 1: I am not good at judging the worth of things though,
- 28:59Speaker 1: like the price is right, I do not do well
- 29:01Speaker 1: on that. It's not good. So she hands out money
- 29:09Speaker 1: also to Soanji for him to get groceries, and some
- 29:14Speaker 1: for Loofy, who is supposed to stay with Soanji, and
- 29:18Speaker 1: inevitably they wind up getting separated, and then we get
- 29:23Speaker 1: the appearance of Smoker. Captain Smoker is on point to
- 29:33Speaker 1: a degree. I mean, lord, and I had been mistaken
- 29:40Speaker 1: in thinking the actor for this was the one from Guys.
- 29:47Speaker 1: What is this? Is not the same actor that I
- 29:51Speaker 1: thought there? He is playing somebody else, I guess, unless
- 29:56Speaker 1: it is. I'm just realizing. I wish I could remember
- 30:00Speaker 1: his name, Man, Sleoni, I am never good at remembering
- 30:05Speaker 1: his fucking name. Y'all, man, I'm bad at this. It's
- 30:09Speaker 1: uh suffice to say the voice on this guy is great,
- 30:17Speaker 1: and I feel like that's one of the things that
- 30:18Speaker 1: they've done nicely is the casting doesn't just look on point.
- 30:22Speaker 1: The voices of the actors they're choosing have such a
- 30:26Speaker 1: very specific sound to them that they are really really
- 30:30Speaker 1: distinctive from each other in a way that voice actors are.
- 30:35Speaker 1: So there is something in that as well that really
- 30:37Speaker 1: adds a vibe of oh, this is one piece, because
- 30:42Speaker 1: everybody's voices and that are so extreme, you know, whether
- 30:45Speaker 1: it's the dubb or sub, it doesn't matter. And I
- 30:48Speaker 1: really when he first spoke, I was like, oh, damn, okay, yeah,
- 30:52Speaker 1: fucking Smoker. Correct, He's playing with someone else's Austin Joe Mangianello,
- 30:59Speaker 1: Thank you. I never fucking remember his name, but yeah,
- 31:02Speaker 1: I had it in my head he was gonna be smoker,
- 31:04Speaker 1: which would have been great too. I feel like he
- 31:07Speaker 1: could have done a kick ass job. But this dude
- 31:11Speaker 1: is very great. This wig is wild, but I'm not
- 31:15Speaker 1: mad at it because it's like it's still right. It's
- 31:19Speaker 1: weird looking, but I'm like, yeah, now that seems like it,
- 31:22Speaker 1: you know. And we had that great moment later when
- 31:27Speaker 1: the little girl runs into him with her ice cream
- 31:29Speaker 1: and he's like, here's some money for more ice cream.
- 31:31Speaker 1: My pants ate your ice cream. What a great guy.
- 31:35Speaker 1: He's also captain captured the Pirate Cozy or Coz, and
- 31:43Speaker 1: this guy apparently has been eluding everybody, so the fact
- 31:46Speaker 1: that he's grabbed this dude up is pretty impressive to everybody.
- 31:49Speaker 1: But he's very much taking it, like, yeah, I'm doing
- 31:52Speaker 1: my fucking job. Guys, get with a program. Tashigi, by
- 31:57Speaker 1: the way, is uh, nobody knows where she is. We
- 32:01Speaker 1: will see her later. So we go then to Oosap
- 32:08Speaker 1: and Nammy wandering around and like doing some shopping. She's
- 32:13Speaker 1: got a bunch of bags, with her, and she keeps
- 32:15Speaker 1: pulling down wanted posters them when they come across them,
- 32:19Speaker 1: and uh, there's a point where he's like, oh, these
- 32:22Speaker 1: would be perfect, and he goes up to this little
- 32:24Speaker 1: girl and like grabs the glasses she's trying on, like
- 32:28Speaker 1: he's gonna take them, and I was like what. And
- 32:31Speaker 1: then Nammy walks by this guy who like turns and
- 32:35Speaker 1: watches her, and I had a moment of like, wait
- 32:40Speaker 1: a second, hold on what. I couldn't remember so many
- 32:54Speaker 1: characters on this show. There's so many characters in one
- 32:58Speaker 1: piece guys, and so I see this guy and I'm like,
- 33:01Speaker 1: he looks so familiar. What is who is this? And
- 33:12Speaker 1: things go on a while until somebody says his name
- 33:17Speaker 1: or he says his own name, and then I was like,
- 33:23Speaker 1: no way. And it makes sense that they're doing it
- 33:27Speaker 1: this way because later in the show there's flashbacks as
- 33:34Speaker 1: if Bartow was here the whole time. So and it
- 33:38Speaker 1: works fine. In the anime, it's great. I had no
- 33:42Speaker 1: issue with it. But in the live action this is
- 33:46Speaker 1: this makes a lot more sense and I am really
- 33:52Speaker 1: really excited. Bartolomeo is just one of my all time
- 33:59Speaker 1: favorites of the whole series so far. This guy has
- 34:02Speaker 1: a lot to live up to right now. He's not
- 34:06Speaker 1: really fully in Bartolomeo mode yet, so it's I can't
- 34:12Speaker 1: quite judge how I feel about him as this character
- 34:15Speaker 1: because he's in a pickpocket mode, very very different energy
- 34:19Speaker 1: from what I had seen him originally. For me, he
- 34:23Speaker 1: isn't himself, not yet, but I'm stoked. I really love
- 34:30Speaker 1: his addition here. And it's super fun because he tries
- 34:34Speaker 1: to pickpocket Namie, but she's no fucking fool and she's
- 34:38Speaker 1: done this shit herself, so she pickpockets him instead, and
- 34:42Speaker 1: he walks past her thinking he took her shit, and
- 34:44Speaker 1: she has to be like, are you missing something there, buddy,
- 34:48Speaker 1: and then instructs him on how to pickpocket, and he
- 34:53Speaker 1: turns around and uses this on Loofy as soon as
- 34:57Speaker 1: we go over to Loofy's scene, pretending that he going
- 35:00Speaker 1: to lead him to where the platform is and the
- 35:02Speaker 1: whole thing, which was a thing in the show, like
- 35:07Speaker 1: they're being somebody, you know, but like they changed it
- 35:09Speaker 1: up the way this works and it's really really smart.
- 35:15Speaker 1: Oh sorry, Serafim says that was the little girl from
- 35:18Speaker 1: the anime only bit for how us up got the goggles.
- 35:24Speaker 1: I don't know. I don't remember Seraphim for the anime
- 35:30Speaker 1: only bit, so there was like something in like a
- 35:32Speaker 1: filler episode or just an additional thing. Detective Trap says
- 35:37Speaker 1: it was a bold decision to have him here, but
- 35:38Speaker 1: I loved it. Saraphim says, yes, yes it is. Those
- 35:41Speaker 1: mad lads. They actually did it and made it awesome.
- 35:43Speaker 1: Best scene of the episode was Buggy and Bartow, I
- 35:45Speaker 1: want to make fun of you, but the style is
- 35:47Speaker 1: too good. Yeah, that is a great bit, and Austin
- 35:51Speaker 1: quoting him saying, hi, Mark, I mean mates. So we
- 36:02Speaker 1: have the Historical Atlas of the East Blue, which of
- 36:07Speaker 1: course is I'm almost certain the book that Nami had
- 36:11Speaker 1: gotten in trouble for stealing when she was little and
- 36:14Speaker 1: had to return. And she's like, I don't need to
- 36:18Speaker 1: buy this, because the whole thing is that I've got
- 36:22Speaker 1: like maps, and I will be mapping. We're leaving the
- 36:25Speaker 1: East Blue and I am planning to make my own
- 36:29Speaker 1: maps anyway, and USO says, no, you should get it,
- 36:34Speaker 1: and then one day you can look back and see
- 36:37Speaker 1: where you started and how much better yours are than
- 36:40Speaker 1: that one. And she's like, you know what. Yeah, okay,
- 36:44Speaker 1: So then we go over to Zoro. He has his
- 36:48Speaker 1: little meat cute with Tashigi where he knocks into her
- 36:52Speaker 1: and he stops because she looks just like the girl
- 36:56Speaker 1: that died when he was young, and they he goes
- 37:02Speaker 1: into the shop and we have this bit with this
- 37:07Speaker 1: shopkeeper who is trying to scam Zoro at first and
- 37:12Speaker 1: then does this abrupt heel turn eventually and decides to
- 37:17Speaker 1: be super generous with him and help him out. And
- 37:23Speaker 1: this guy is really kind of stealing the show for
- 37:28Speaker 1: a second. I gotta say he's fucking killing it. He's
- 37:33Speaker 1: like an Asian John Leguizamo. For me. There's just a
- 37:37Speaker 1: tone to his voice and a sort of movement that
- 37:42Speaker 1: he's got going on that was very much giving like
- 37:45Speaker 1: waamo to me. And I enjoyed this performance so much.
- 37:51Speaker 1: It's like Zoro is so low key and this girl
- 37:56Speaker 1: is is She's like she isn't exact like she is
- 38:00Speaker 1: key in a way, but she's like chetty, weirdly and
- 38:05Speaker 1: clumsy and odd, and so this guy's like hyperactive background
- 38:10Speaker 1: energy is great. So long story short, we have the
- 38:17Speaker 1: Cursed Sword and we have the uh the sword that's
- 38:22Speaker 1: like basically legendary that he says that he will give
- 38:25Speaker 1: away because it's been so long since he's seen a
- 38:29Speaker 1: worthy swordsman and the cursed sword. Zoro does this thing
- 38:35Speaker 1: where he throws it in the air, puts his arm out,
- 38:38Speaker 1: and if it cuts him, he'll accept that it's cursed,
- 38:41Speaker 1: but if not, he'll take it. And so he decides
- 38:45Speaker 1: to take it, and he winds up with his two swords.
- 38:49Speaker 1: Tashiki is watching him and there's a vibe of like
- 38:52Speaker 1: something about him is looking familiar, but she's not putting
- 38:56Speaker 1: her finger on it, and later on when she finds out,
- 38:59Speaker 1: she's like, motherfucker, I should have known. I knew there
- 39:03Speaker 1: was something familiar about him. And I just want to say, look,
- 39:08Speaker 1: we've already mentioned Zorro because he's over here doing weightlifting
- 39:12Speaker 1: and shit in the first scene. But right here after
- 39:15Speaker 1: he holds his arm out and he bends and he
- 39:17Speaker 1: pulls the sword out of the floor and then slowly
- 39:21Speaker 1: stands up, So there was no need for all that.
- 39:28Speaker 1: My goodness, nobody has ever stood up hotly, Like, how
- 39:35Speaker 1: does that even work? It's disgusting, stop it. Christ So
- 39:46Speaker 1: jumping forward a little bit because I'm running out of time.
- 39:50Speaker 1: We have the wonderful moment of Loofy and Buggy meeting again,
- 40:00Speaker 1: and Bartolomeo had been about to steal Lufy's money when
- 40:08Speaker 1: Lufy asks him if he has a dream that he
- 40:11Speaker 1: cares about, and bart bart bartow, can I call you Barbo?
- 40:17Speaker 1: He gets almost emotional stops and it's like, I never
- 40:20Speaker 1: even thought about that, And Lufy's hat seems to blow away,
- 40:26Speaker 1: and then the hat moves and you just see a
- 40:29Speaker 1: hand at disembodied hand giving him the finger, and I
- 40:32Speaker 1: just like literally clapped my hands because I just Buggy
- 40:36Speaker 1: is so great in this show. Oh my god. But
- 40:39Speaker 1: I had forgotten that this is also when fucking Alvida
- 40:45Speaker 1: shows back up again. Now you guys have known my
- 40:50Speaker 1: feelings that are so mixed about Alvida and like the
- 40:54Speaker 1: weirdness of her storyline and that she's this really great
- 40:58Speaker 1: fat woman villain, and then they decided to make her
- 41:02Speaker 1: skinny for reasons, and I found it very tiresome. And
- 41:06Speaker 1: when I found out that the actress playing Alvida had
- 41:10Speaker 1: lost a bunch of weight and that they were apparently
- 41:13Speaker 1: going to do the same thing with her, I was
- 41:16Speaker 1: just sort of disappointed and really wanted her to be
- 41:22Speaker 1: a wanted them to do something a little bit more exciting,
- 41:28Speaker 1: you know. And what I appreciate about this is that
- 41:35Speaker 1: she her having lost weight and looking real different isn't
- 41:41Speaker 1: like the point. They don't focus on it so much.
- 41:49Speaker 1: She has eaten the slip slip fruit still, so that's there,
- 41:55Speaker 1: but the weightless thing is just kind of secondary. And
- 41:59Speaker 1: there's just a moment of lufy going Alvita because he
- 42:02Speaker 1: doesn't recognize her right away, but it's almost not acknowledged
- 42:09Speaker 1: at all other than that, and her face is still
- 42:12Speaker 1: quite round the actress, so they have her in these
- 42:17Speaker 1: like big billowing coats and whatnot. There's only one point
- 42:22Speaker 1: where you really see her body in any detail, and
- 42:27Speaker 1: again it's just not the focus at all. So, yeah,
- 42:31Speaker 1: she's less weight, and yeah it's they're doing the thing,
- 42:36Speaker 1: but it doesn't feel the way that I was worried
- 42:39Speaker 1: it was gonna feel. And I am very pleasantly surprised
- 42:42Speaker 1: because I was a little bit anxious about this, Like,
- 42:45Speaker 1: you know, I really didn't know why they were even bothering,
- 42:49Speaker 1: and I think why they're bothering is simply because they
- 42:53Speaker 1: knew the fans wanted it, so they're managing to be like, yeah,
- 42:56Speaker 1: I'm doing the thing, and you guys can all quit
- 43:00Speaker 1: about it, but also don't. It doesn't it doesn't need
- 43:04Speaker 1: to fucking we won't do that, you know. And I
- 43:08Speaker 1: think that's really smart. I think that's a good way
- 43:11Speaker 1: of like satisfying both parties here. Sorry, Austin says, Honestly,
- 43:18Speaker 1: if I hadn't been told, I wouldn't really have noticed
- 43:21Speaker 1: the difference. You could have just told me last season
- 43:22Speaker 1: she wore a more bulky jacket and like, yeah, if
- 43:26Speaker 1: you actually see her full figure in like on Instagram
- 43:31Speaker 1: and stuff, I've seen shares of before and after, and
- 43:33Speaker 1: she's lost a lot of weight, but her face is
- 43:36Speaker 1: still really really round. So it's when she's in heavy
- 43:39Speaker 1: clothes you just don't see it. Really. Florian says, from
- 43:43Speaker 1: what I've heard, it was the actress choice in real life.
- 43:45Speaker 1: I don't know if that helps, but she used it
- 43:47Speaker 1: to motivate herself. It doesn't really help because it's sort
- 43:50Speaker 1: of like there's just never not pressure on actresses to
- 43:54Speaker 1: lose weight, you know, So even if it is her choice,
- 43:58Speaker 1: it's still just made me sad. But Saraphim says, the
- 44:02Speaker 1: fact that even looking as different as she does. Lufy
- 44:04Speaker 1: gets her name right and can't get Buggy's name right.
- 44:07Speaker 1: That was the best Buggy stopping. And because Luviy calls
- 44:09Speaker 1: him Bunny when he sees him here, and then yeah,
- 44:13Speaker 1: he says Alvida and Buggy's like, you've met her one time.
- 44:21Speaker 1: It's great, It's so great. So anyway, Elvida has her
- 44:29Speaker 1: slip slip power. It is so weird, y'all. Louviy goes
- 44:35Speaker 1: to punch her. She says, give it your best shot,
- 44:37Speaker 1: and it just slides right the fuck off her, and
- 44:41Speaker 1: she uses her mace and sends him flying and he
- 44:45Speaker 1: gets knocked into this tent. We cut from there, and
- 44:51Speaker 1: when he wakes up, he is in cea prism manacles,
- 44:56Speaker 1: And I had forgotten that the manacles like that. Seaprism
- 45:01Speaker 1: just fucks you up in general. I always think of
- 45:03Speaker 1: it as like, oh, it makes you so you don't
- 45:06Speaker 1: have your powers, but it also makes you woozy, and
- 45:12Speaker 1: it just sort of pulls your life force away for
- 45:15Speaker 1: a bit, and I forget that. So this whole thing
- 45:19Speaker 1: is very unnerving to see him like at their mercy
- 45:22Speaker 1: like this. You know, so all our friends are getting
- 45:28Speaker 1: together at the area that they had designated to regroup
- 45:32Speaker 1: before they got back on the sunny and Lufy isn't there.
- 45:35Speaker 1: Sanji turns up and he's got his fucking giant fish
- 45:40Speaker 1: that he's super excited about, and they're like, where's Loofy
- 45:45Speaker 1: And he's like, I thought he'd be here, and they're like,
- 45:48Speaker 1: you were supposed to watch him, what do you mean?
- 45:52Speaker 1: So then we cut over to Loofy on trial with
- 45:57Speaker 1: Alvita as judge and Buggy serving as his lawyer, in
- 46:04Speaker 1: a scene that's just great. I mean, it's so stupid.
- 46:13Speaker 1: I also have to mention, like Elvida being barefoot, there's
- 46:16Speaker 1: got to be a certain section of the population that's
- 46:19Speaker 1: very pleased about this whole thing. But yeah, anyway, this
- 46:27Speaker 1: whole bit I found actually hence being like, does he
- 46:33Speaker 1: deserve to die just for being annoying? Yes, he does,
- 46:39Speaker 1: I rest my case. So we get interrupted here, of course,
- 46:49Speaker 1: by the arrival of the other straw hats, breaking up
- 46:53Speaker 1: some of the festivities. Bartow, by the way, background for
- 46:57Speaker 1: all of this, watching everybody fight and obviously being impressed
- 47:03Speaker 1: every moment that you see him. There's a little bit
- 47:05Speaker 1: more of a light in his eyes as he's like,
- 47:07Speaker 1: holy shit, really, and Alvida fighting Nami. It's really fun
- 47:14Speaker 1: because Alvida looks like she's like two feet taller than Namy.
- 47:18Speaker 1: I'm not sure their height difference is that like actually dramatic,
- 47:23Speaker 1: but the way they have it filmed, it really seems
- 47:26Speaker 1: like she's towering, and I think that's cool. So we
- 47:34Speaker 1: have a fun bit because like all the hits on
- 47:37Speaker 1: her have been sliding off, where Nanny and Usap pair
- 47:45Speaker 1: up so that she knocks alvina sandals off, and then
- 47:49Speaker 1: USA hits her with a pepper star which makes her
- 47:52Speaker 1: sneeze and so she flies backward out of the fight,
- 47:57Speaker 1: which is honestly just genius. Other fighting going on, of course,
- 48:03Speaker 1: but that's really the one that I think is the
- 48:05Speaker 1: most fun. But despite all of this, Loofy has still
- 48:11Speaker 1: been held by Buggy. It's not like this rescued him.
- 48:18Speaker 1: We're dealing with the other folks. Buggy's got Loofy up
- 48:22Speaker 1: on the platform, so Lufy's getting to see it up
- 48:25Speaker 1: close and personal, and Smoker by the way he sees
- 48:30Speaker 1: all of this carnage and he's just like, just let
- 48:34Speaker 1: them destroy each other. All these fucking pirates are all trash,
- 48:38Speaker 1: so once they're done getting this shit out of their system,
- 48:41Speaker 1: we'll go in and we'll clean up the mess that's left.
- 48:45Speaker 1: But uh, Buggy is planning on killing Loofy here on
- 48:50Speaker 1: this platform, and Lufy is accepting his death and laughing
- 48:55Speaker 1: in a way very similar to how gold Roger laughed,
- 48:59Speaker 1: which is Smoker the creeps. That's the way I'm gonna
- 49:05Speaker 1: say it, even though it's not, strictly speaking quite accurate.
- 49:08Speaker 1: But it's more just like he has a bit of
- 49:10Speaker 1: a flashback and is going, oh my god, that's exactly
- 49:15Speaker 1: that's it. That's the same fucking laugh. And I really
- 49:22Speaker 1: like the way the actor playing movie manages to make
- 49:25Speaker 1: this laugh feel like it makes sense because in the show,
- 49:32Speaker 1: like in the anime, I didn't really feel it. I
- 49:37Speaker 1: got what they were trying to do and it was fine,
- 49:41Speaker 1: but it just didn't really quite work. And here he's
- 49:47Speaker 1: laughing but his eyes are full of tears, and it's
- 49:51Speaker 1: just very much like, isn't it insane that I'm fucking dead?
- 49:57Speaker 1: Oh my god, I can't after all this, I cannot
- 49:59Speaker 1: believe and it it's just really effective, Like this actor
- 50:07Speaker 1: Lufy is one of those characters that I feel like,
- 50:10Speaker 1: on the surface, you would think might be easy to play.
- 50:12Speaker 1: And he has to turn that off, that EIGHTYHD kind
- 50:17Speaker 1: of energy that he carries so often and get really serious,
- 50:21Speaker 1: very abruptly, and I think a lot of vectors would
- 50:23Speaker 1: have trouble with that. And this is like such a moment,
- 50:26Speaker 1: you know. So anyway, Buggy is just about to cut
- 50:33Speaker 1: his head off when he gets electrocuted, and guys, he
- 50:37Speaker 1: gets struck by lightning, and as he is struck, he yells,
- 50:43Speaker 1: not again, I really want to know what the fuck
- 50:48Speaker 1: that is and he blows apart, which reminder that he
- 50:53Speaker 1: just does that so he's not dead or anything. And
- 50:56Speaker 1: of course Loofy winds up being okay. And is it
- 51:00Speaker 1: any wonder after witnessing all of this that Bartolomeo is like,
- 51:05Speaker 1: these people are the fucking goats? What do you mean? Yeah,
- 51:10Speaker 1: this is very valid his fandom here, yeah makes sense.
- 51:19Speaker 1: And he's the one who picks up Bartolomeo's or Lufy's hat.
- 51:25Speaker 1: So I'm trying to find the bit here where because
- 51:29Speaker 1: I do want to mention that when first Buggy shows
- 51:33Speaker 1: up and he's talking to Lufy and Lufy calls him Bunny,
- 51:37Speaker 1: I love Buggy being like, oh god, I forgot how
- 51:41Speaker 1: annoying you are. Just just so, and then he looks
- 51:47Speaker 1: over at Bartolomeo. He says, and who's this. Let me guess,
- 51:51Speaker 1: new crew member. You must be the ship styleist. And
- 51:58Speaker 1: I was gonna make fun of you, but he says,
- 52:01Speaker 1: I want to make fun of you, but honestly, I
- 52:05Speaker 1: love what you're doing here. Sure you wouldn't be better
- 52:08Speaker 1: off with us, which, honestly, Bartolomeo probably would fit quite well.
- 52:13Speaker 1: But uh yeah, this entire Hey, guys, it's great. It's
- 52:17Speaker 1: so good. So Lufy gets his hat back and this
- 52:21Speaker 1: will be a formative moment for our friend Bartolomeo for
- 52:25Speaker 1: the remainder of his life. And then we have Lufy
- 52:30Speaker 1: trying to get back to the Sonny and getting stopped
- 52:34Speaker 1: by Captain Smoker, who is just like, nah, don't think so,
- 52:39Speaker 1: and Lufy begins to punch Smoker and we get to
- 52:43Speaker 1: see Smoker's power and I am so sorry, kids, but
- 52:46Speaker 1: this looks dope as hell. This is a really cool
- 52:50Speaker 1: looking like we have seen so many smoke powers throughout
- 52:54Speaker 1: the years. It's been a thing. I love the esthetic
- 53:00Speaker 1: of the smoke itself, because they make sure that it's
- 53:04Speaker 1: that weird brownish gray cigar smoke look and it could
- 53:10Speaker 1: have just been white. It could have you know, it
- 53:12Speaker 1: could have looked a different way where it's just not
- 53:15Speaker 1: they make it look gnarwly. And there's a point where Lufy,
- 53:18Speaker 1: after punching him, kind of looks at his hands and
- 53:21Speaker 1: sort of shakes them as if to suggest that they
- 53:23Speaker 1: stink now, like he smells like cigars, which, if you
- 53:27Speaker 1: know what cigars smell like, that shit sticks. It sucks.
- 53:31Speaker 1: My husband smokes cigars occasionally, and I make him shower
- 53:35Speaker 1: and take his clothes and put them in the washer
- 53:39Speaker 1: before he's allowed anywhere near me. He isn't allowed to
- 53:41Speaker 1: get into the bed without, you know, like because it
- 53:44Speaker 1: just gets all over everything. And yeah, I just think
- 53:48Speaker 1: it looks so cool. And Sangy tries to run up
- 53:54Speaker 1: and save Lufy and kick him and gets like not
- 53:58Speaker 1: through a fucking store wind. It's a real it's a
- 54:03Speaker 1: real moment of like, oh, we're dealing with somebody here.
- 54:06Speaker 1: And he sends these like columns of smoke at Loofy,
- 54:11Speaker 1: who have him like gripped up and pulled in every direction,
- 54:17Speaker 1: and it's very upsetting. He's in mid air and he's
- 54:20Speaker 1: being stretched out because he's a rubber man, you see.
- 54:27Speaker 1: So Smoker has him by the head, pressed to the
- 54:34Speaker 1: ground and says you're worth thirty million berry with a
- 54:40Speaker 1: very like sir. There's no need for that tone. He's
- 54:43Speaker 1: just so unimpressed, you know, And he starts pouring smoke
- 54:49Speaker 1: down like into Lufy's mouth, and he says, looks like
- 54:52Speaker 1: your luck's run out, and he begins to pull his sword,
- 54:57Speaker 1: and then a hand comes and says, who's luck did
- 55:01Speaker 1: you say? And there is a man, there's a dragon.
- 55:06Speaker 1: This guy wasn't so directly involved last time. He was
- 55:10Speaker 1: like he was doing stuff. We know what he'd been doing,
- 55:14Speaker 1: but this is a much more specific kind of yeah.
- 55:21Speaker 1: He says, who are we to stand in the way
- 55:23Speaker 1: of another man's voyage? And I'm like, well, he's a marine.
- 55:28Speaker 1: That is kind of like their whole job. That's what
- 55:30Speaker 1: they do. And he says, the world government wants your head,
- 55:35Speaker 1: and he says not yet. The world is still waiting
- 55:39Speaker 1: for our answer. And we have just this moment of
- 55:45Speaker 1: them paused together, and Sanji comes out of the shop
- 55:49Speaker 1: that he was sent into, and he turns and looks
- 55:52Speaker 1: and sees all of this smoke, and then it just
- 55:57Speaker 1: darts away and there's not a fight or anything like
- 56:02Speaker 1: that could indicate what exactly really happened here. Oh, Florence says,
- 56:09Speaker 1: oh no, in the anime, he also did exactly that. Really,
- 56:13Speaker 1: I didn't remember that. I thought that he just stood
- 56:15Speaker 1: on the edge of the island and watched them sail away,
- 56:21Speaker 1: because I'm pretty certain he's the one that electrocuted Buggy.
- 56:28Speaker 1: But I didn't remember this. Oh okay, so it's the
- 56:32Speaker 1: exact same thing I didn't recall. But yeah, so Sanji
- 56:39Speaker 1: just sees Loofy like suddenly okay by himself, like, don't
- 56:47Speaker 1: really get any good idea of what the fuck happened.
- 56:49Speaker 1: And it's unclear how much Loviy saw or understands about
- 56:54Speaker 1: any of this either. But they rush back to the ship,
- 57:00Speaker 1: and when he's asked what the fuck happened, Lufy just says,
- 57:05Speaker 1: I'm not sure. Oh Sanji does say, the guy who
- 57:09Speaker 1: saved you? Who was that? So Sanchi did see him,
- 57:13Speaker 1: but I guess I don't know how well he saw him, because,
- 57:16Speaker 1: like the view the camera shows us from where Sanji
- 57:20Speaker 1: is standing, I'm surprised that he could tell there was
- 57:23Speaker 1: another dude there, because there just really didn't look like
- 57:26Speaker 1: that to me. But yeah, anyway, they we do not
- 57:34Speaker 1: know yet who this man is. Yes, we do, and
- 57:40Speaker 1: we have him doing the thing that he does do.
- 57:42Speaker 1: I remember, specifically from the anime of watching the ship
- 57:47Speaker 1: sail away and saying, well, all right, then you decided
- 57:54Speaker 1: to be a pirate, gone ahead with that, Let's see
- 57:57Speaker 1: how that goes for you. And when he turns around,
- 58:01Speaker 1: there is somebody standing there waiting for him. Unclear where
- 58:06Speaker 1: Smoker is, what has happened to him here? I'm sure that,
- 58:12Speaker 1: like we know this in the anime, I don't remember
- 58:16Speaker 1: lots to keep track of in the anime. And then
- 58:21Speaker 1: we have miss all Sunday coming to talk to uh
- 58:27Speaker 1: Tashiki said her name at the bar and basically making
- 58:33Speaker 1: her an offer to join Baroque Works. She says, not
- 58:38Speaker 1: baroque works. Specifically, she says, like, you have a lot
- 58:44Speaker 1: of talents, obviously, and whatever the job is that you
- 58:50Speaker 1: are on right now is not utilizing you to your
- 58:53Speaker 1: full capabilities. You have skills that are wasted and desires
- 58:59Speaker 1: that aren't being met. I know you're strong, intelligent, and beautiful.
- 59:10Speaker 1: The world has so much more to offer you, and
- 59:12Speaker 1: she calls her little bird, and you can have all
- 59:17Speaker 1: of it now. I don't know if we're gonna do
- 59:24Speaker 1: something different with Tashiki than we did in the anime,
- 59:31Speaker 1: but I will tell you what, I would kind of
- 59:33Speaker 1: love it because Tashigi feels like she's so underutilized in
- 59:38Speaker 1: the show, Like I just what Robin is saying to
- 59:46Speaker 1: her here feels like she's speaking to the character, you
- 59:50Speaker 1: know what I mean, like in the context of everything.
- 59:57Speaker 1: I don't obviously I'm not caught up, so there may
- 59:59Speaker 1: be more that she does later, but it does really
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: just sort of feel like she is out here just
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: sort of playing back up and not getting to do
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: a lot and being awkward and weird despite the fact
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: that she is so capable in so many ways. So
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: then Smoker comes in and like again I don't know
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: what happened to him, like the how is it that
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: dragon got him away? How is it that he convinced
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: him not to chase them? How did this all? How? How? How? How?
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: But either way, he talks to her here in the
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: bar about how this used to be gold Rogers Bar
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: and it was really popular and then after he was executed,
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: the popularity sort of began to wane. And I saw
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: this kid up on that platform, and the way that
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: he reacted to his imminent death was to laugh in
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: the way that kid that gold Roger laughed in the past.
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: And we also have a moment of Bartolomeo and he's
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: like in this room, I'm not even sure where he is.
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: He's walking past, he's got the uh. He sees the
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: poster of Loofy where he's got his hand up and
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: he's waving, and Bartolomeo looks in the mirror and holds
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: his own hand up in the same way, and it
- 1:01:42Speaker 1: is it's the first symptom. It's wonderful. I love it
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: so much. And then we have the ship heading out
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: and we see this really awesome looking island ahead of us.
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: It's Reverse Mountain, the entrance to the Grand Line, and
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: they all talk about how it's about to get very real.
- 1:02:12Speaker 1: There's shit coming up that's much more intense than everything
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: that we just went through, and it's a wonderful woman.
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: I am so excited to see us going on this
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: fucking roller coaster. Basically that's gonna be coming up. This
- 1:02:33Speaker 1: is I have to imagine this is going to have
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: taken up a lot of their budget. I have to,
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: you know what I mean, Because of course you're gonna
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: use CGI for some of this. Of course, there's just
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: going to be a lot of it that's pure digital,
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: but some of it you can't do that way. And
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: I am hoping there is a certain standard to it
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: that I am really looking forward to seeing. Detective Trap says,
- 1:03:09Speaker 1: it's also showing Smoker is right to be worried. Lufy
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: is already inspiring others. Yeah, yess that's true. Because Bartolomeo
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: is over here just fucking posing, blessing. I'm really really
- 1:03:24Speaker 1: excited about him. What a fun thing to do. All Right,
- 1:03:29Speaker 1: So I'm over time, gotta go, but I'm stoked. I
- 1:03:34Speaker 1: can't wait. I'm gonna be watching the next one tonight,
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: and I I'm just I'm just so excited, y'all. I
- 1:03:43Speaker 1: love this show so much. All Right, Thank you all again.
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: Thank you again to Florian and to Bernadette, and until
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: next time to Tolue. Motherfuckers. That was an unspoiled network
- 1:04:24Speaker 1: past
