- 0:00Speaker 1: You're listening to a lily Pad production.
- 0:04Speaker 2: This is the Team Up Play Show podcast.
- 0:26Speaker 3: Previously in the City of Bones, You guys have powers?
- 0:40Speaker 2: What should I call you guys again? I'm the paper.
- 0:44Speaker 1: Phantom, I'm Quanta, and you Rigel.
- 0:52Speaker 2: Is your friend? Okay? I gestured to the large day
- 0:55Speaker 2: man I had laid down.
- 0:57Speaker 4: They were using him as their own personal assassin. They
- 1:01Speaker 4: had like a device that controlled him.
- 1:04Speaker 2: Many chance we can wake him up. We're all in
- 1:10Speaker 2: over our heads.
- 1:13Speaker 5: And if we can put whatever puzzle pieces we have
- 1:17Speaker 5: together and try to work together whatever is going on
- 1:22Speaker 5: out there, I think we can do a lot more
- 1:26Speaker 5: good with some help.
- 1:53Speaker 2: Three young people have been stumbling over their own feet,
- 1:58Speaker 2: made top heavy by dark revelations about the city in
- 2:02Speaker 2: which they live. After a seemingly destined to meet up,
- 2:08Speaker 2: they've found some stability in each other and have been
- 2:12Speaker 2: able to stop falling. They have decided to learn about
- 2:17Speaker 2: and try to heal the deep wounds of the city
- 2:21Speaker 2: of New Babel. We're going to start back in time
- 2:26Speaker 2: this episode with two profound discoveries that should not be
- 2:32Speaker 2: missed nor forgotten. First, we go a few days back
- 2:40Speaker 2: with Jamir in his grandmother's office. You're rooting around, kind
- 2:52Speaker 2: of putting things together, finding notes, finding scribbles on scraps
- 2:56Speaker 2: of paper, trying to organize some of your grandma's chaos.
- 3:00Speaker 2: What is she thinking? Okay? This hold on. Then you
- 3:04Speaker 2: find a note on a small box, a sticky note
- 3:07Speaker 2: that says, I guess this will have to do.
- 3:10Speaker 5: I take the note, I walk it over to the desk.
- 3:13Speaker 5: I pull out one of the drawers where I've kept
- 3:17Speaker 5: a reserve of all the things she wrote for me.
- 3:20Speaker 5: I lay it gently in that drawer. Return. You said
- 3:25Speaker 5: it was a box. Yeah, it's a little wooden box.
- 3:28Speaker 5: I returned to this little wooden box. Now a little
- 3:32Speaker 5: wary of the things I've found in this study. Okay, okay,
- 3:39Speaker 5: and I open it up. You see fold it up
- 3:42Speaker 5: so neatly. It looks a little bit too small, folded up,
- 3:49Speaker 5: too small for the mass of this object. You pull
- 3:54Speaker 5: it out and it's a beautiful silk mark. A mark
- 4:01Speaker 5: being a belt that has a banner that hangs down
- 4:05Speaker 5: from the waist in beautiful African design and stitching. The
- 4:11Speaker 5: banner cuts off to an end point and there there
- 4:15Speaker 5: is a stitched representation of the constellation Orion. All the
- 4:22Speaker 5: stars on Orion are small and look to be made
- 4:28Speaker 5: as though they are to fade. But then one star
- 4:34Speaker 5: on the left foot of Orion is stitched loudly in
- 4:39Speaker 5: beautiful blue and white. My heart thumps in my chest. Wait, wait,
- 4:52Speaker 5: I know this star. I put it on the desk.
- 4:57Speaker 5: I shove some other stuff to the side, all to
- 5:00Speaker 5: the ground. I don't even bother with it at this moment.
- 5:04Speaker 2: I go over.
- 5:05Speaker 5: I grab some old star charts that I found on
- 5:09Speaker 5: a different shelf. I open up to a book, furiously
- 5:12Speaker 5: finding where it was. Where it was, okay, okay, and
- 5:15Speaker 5: I lay out a couple of different texts around it.
- 5:22Speaker 2: Yes, yes, I consulted, and.
- 5:29Speaker 5: I take a breath before I say it out loud,
- 5:38Speaker 5: a little cautious. For the first time, even just to
- 5:43Speaker 5: speak a star's name feels very different. I trace the
- 5:52Speaker 5: constellation from its head to his foot. A risul Al's
- 6:02Speaker 5: your bar Ridel of Orion. That's it. That's it.
- 6:19Speaker 2: This moment of revelation pours over you. And then you
- 6:26Speaker 2: take a step back and you look at the mark,
- 6:29Speaker 2: the piece of clothing. There's something that's ringing bells in
- 6:34Speaker 2: your head about that too, not just the star which
- 6:36Speaker 2: you've seen in these star charts. But the piece of
- 6:39Speaker 2: clothing you can't quite put a pin in it. But
- 6:44Speaker 2: you know someone who has looked through every scrap of
- 6:50Speaker 2: paper and picture and news article that this city has
- 6:53Speaker 2: to offer. That's Jackie shit. I need help. We jump
- 7:04Speaker 2: forward to very near in the past when Quanta Paper,
- 7:10Speaker 2: Phantom and Rigel are walking into Rigel's manner and Quanta
- 7:14Speaker 2: does a scan of the building. This is something I
- 7:17Speaker 2: forgot that you would have sensed as you scan Jamir's
- 7:24Speaker 2: Graystone manner and SaaS you've got a good success on that.
- 7:29Speaker 2: You sense everything you sensed Dirk up. You sense all
- 7:33Speaker 2: the rooms going up. You also sense down. In a
- 7:37Speaker 2: big city like this, most of the electrical wiring from
- 7:41Speaker 2: the city's grid comes in through the ground, so you
- 7:44Speaker 2: sense that that's normal for you. There's the basement level
- 7:48Speaker 2: where you sense Maria getting ready to leave, and then
- 7:54Speaker 2: connections wires go further down. The electrical lines continue you
- 8:00Speaker 2: below the basement. There is an elaborate system of electric
- 8:04Speaker 2: electrical lines. They are all shut off, but there is
- 8:08Speaker 2: an immense subterranean room that connects below the city's power grid.
- 8:17Speaker 2: And I'm just gonna play it as though you do
- 8:19Speaker 2: not say this yet to anybody, but you have that information.
- 8:24Speaker 2: There's some down there and here's what we're gonna do tonight, gamers.
- 8:32Speaker 2: I'm so excited. No strap on your gaming thumbs signed
- 8:42Speaker 2: the game the gate I need.
- 8:50Speaker 6: I'm I'm one of those like beer helmets. But it's
- 8:53Speaker 6: just out shout out to the do heads out there
- 8:59Speaker 6: I do to do on rare occasion. Dude, I wish
- 9:02Speaker 6: it didn't make my tummy hard.
- 9:05Speaker 2: You're a real gamer, Jennet. Here's what we're gonna do.
- 9:12Speaker 2: We are going to use Team ups downtime system for
- 9:16Speaker 2: the first time, which is super exciting to go. Yeah,
- 9:19Speaker 2: let me explain this as you guys think through how
- 9:21Speaker 2: you want to do this. So there's five categories here
- 9:26Speaker 2: and you're going to put a zero through four. Zero
- 9:29Speaker 2: is one of the numbers you will use in each
- 9:32Speaker 2: of these boxes. There's rest. For every number you put
- 9:36Speaker 2: in rest, you get to roll your recovery dice that
- 9:38Speaker 2: much to get back both energy points and hit points.
- 9:43Speaker 2: There is training. Training allows two different things based on
- 9:49Speaker 2: how you want to use it. If you give a
- 9:52Speaker 2: big enough number to training, you can you can get
- 9:55Speaker 2: a branched power that you've attempted, or you can get
- 9:59Speaker 2: power just to add to attack and damage roles in
- 10:03Speaker 2: future combat. And then it could have some narrative stuff too,
- 10:06Speaker 2: like you know, leveling up or potentially depending on what happens.
- 10:11Speaker 2: There is patrol, so patrol kind of there's things you
- 10:15Speaker 2: could learn about the city through patrol. There's also things
- 10:18Speaker 2: that might happen that are bad if you don't patrol,
- 10:21Speaker 2: things might happen that are good if you do. There
- 10:24Speaker 2: is unmasked life. This is keeping your your life as
- 10:30Speaker 2: not a superhero in order you all have relationships outside
- 10:34Speaker 2: of you being heroes. And then there's thread chasing, and
- 10:38Speaker 2: the numbers you give to unmasked life and thread chasing
- 10:42Speaker 2: are sort of the number of scenes you get in
- 10:45Speaker 2: that category. And then we'll do it in a certain
- 10:50Speaker 2: order so that there will be some things revealed to
- 10:54Speaker 2: you early so that you can maybe move around your
- 10:57Speaker 2: thread chasing or your unmasked life as you need two
- 11:00Speaker 2: not numbers, but just things that you want to attempt.
- 11:03Speaker 2: And then also a lot of times the thread chasing
- 11:07Speaker 2: or the thread chasing mostly might happen together, so we'll
- 11:10Speaker 2: save that one for last.
- 11:12Speaker 5: And this is taking place after our night of meeting
- 11:16Speaker 5: each other. This is kind of after all that earth
- 11:18Speaker 5: this before.
- 11:19Speaker 2: No, this is going to be after so this is
- 11:21Speaker 2: kind of the next week of time is downtime. So
- 11:25Speaker 2: the first one we're going to do is rest. That
- 11:28Speaker 2: way you can get these hit points back, and the
- 11:31Speaker 2: rest represents how much you gain and lose during the
- 11:36Speaker 2: rest of this. So we're not going to take off
- 11:38Speaker 2: hit points necessarily unless you get in some crazy fights.
- 11:41Speaker 2: So I guess we could, but we'll do rest first. So, Quanta,
- 11:45Speaker 2: what do you put to in rest?
- 11:46Speaker 1: Well?
- 11:46Speaker 4: Okay, can can we start with because I know you
- 11:48Speaker 4: were taking notes about how like what all the things,
- 11:52Speaker 4: all of the threads that we were researching or talking about,
- 11:55Speaker 4: how many of those do we have?
- 11:57Speaker 2: All?
- 11:57Speaker 3: Right, so we've got the evil mayor one of our threads.
- 12:02Speaker 3: The church cabal, We've got oh looking up old heroes
- 12:06Speaker 3: is the other one too. Most of my other notes
- 12:09Speaker 3: are just about how we want to burn both the
- 12:11Speaker 3: church and the government.
- 12:13Speaker 2: Yeah, Derek is is part.
- 12:18Speaker 1: I feel like he's under churchal.
- 12:25Speaker 2: Yeah, those are the three three. So, yeah, you have
- 12:31Speaker 2: this night together. Do you do you think the two
- 12:35Speaker 2: of you sleep over? Jamiir, do you offer that or
- 12:38Speaker 2: I offer that. I I say, like, do you guys
- 12:42Speaker 2: have a place to stay? I don't want to assume anything.
- 12:47Speaker 4: I think it depends on whether it's light or not outside.
- 12:51Speaker 4: By the time we're done with our research party.
- 12:53Speaker 2: He'll be late late at night. Am, thank you.
- 12:58Speaker 1: Maybe some other time.
- 13:00Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm gonna I'll pull up a big pile of
- 13:02Speaker 3: books and start reading and maybe crash on a couch
- 13:06Speaker 3: somewhere if that's okay, just so I don't have to
- 13:08Speaker 3: go home.
- 13:09Speaker 5: But I mean there's tons of there's multiple multiple rooms.
- 13:13Speaker 5: Crash on the couch, okay. So we kind of split
- 13:20Speaker 5: our ways here. But then over the next week we
- 13:24Speaker 5: are going to explore have this montage of figuring out
- 13:29Speaker 5: what's going on.
- 13:30Speaker 2: Quanta. How much are you putting into rest?
- 13:33Speaker 4: Oh, I'll do three three in rest so I can
- 13:37Speaker 4: roll three D four.
- 13:39Speaker 2: You got the most hurt? Yeah, go ahead.
- 13:41Speaker 1: I really want to get back up to full keel up.
- 13:44Speaker 2: Roll both your strength die and your resilience die strength
- 13:51Speaker 2: for energy, resilience for HP I.
- 13:54Speaker 1: Got for my resilience, I got six.
- 13:58Speaker 4: Nice o, I'm back up to seven out of eight
- 14:01Speaker 4: nice And I'll have to look.
- 14:03Speaker 1: At my sheet to see where my EPs are at?
- 14:06Speaker 2: Should I roll?
- 14:07Speaker 4: I roll three for epso a separate one? Ooh to
- 14:11Speaker 4: roll again? Don't take the six for both?
- 14:13Speaker 2: Exactly? Okay, jimyr how much did you put in rest?
- 14:17Speaker 2: I put two in rest? Jian, so I rolled two
- 14:21Speaker 2: D six, which is my resilience. Die. You get back
- 14:26Speaker 2: that amount of HP. So I get back seven HP.
- 14:30Speaker 2: So I go from fifteen up to twenty two. Nice.
- 14:33Speaker 5: Wow, my strength is only a D four, So I'll
- 14:38Speaker 5: roll two of those who and I get five?
- 14:41Speaker 2: Nice? So as many EPs as you've used, you get
- 14:44Speaker 2: those back where you want them. Great. I'm back up
- 14:48Speaker 2: to max eg paper phantom. Just one in rest.
- 14:53Speaker 3: Quick, nap on the couch, baby, not sleeping too much.
- 14:58Speaker 3: That's sleeping all right?
- 14:59Speaker 2: Cool? Got two energy back and I was already at
- 15:03Speaker 2: full health. Nice. Great, Quanta training.
- 15:08Speaker 1: I gave two to training. I mean no, what just happened?
- 15:12Speaker 2: Yes?
- 15:12Speaker 1: I gave two to two training. I gave two?
- 15:17Speaker 2: Got it? And what's your hope?
- 15:20Speaker 4: I think Quanta, after being in that fight and then
- 15:23Speaker 4: running away from the situation she saw with Camp and
- 15:28Speaker 4: the man in the alleyway, is like kind of had
- 15:33Speaker 4: a rude awakening. After getting shot with a bunch of
- 15:37Speaker 4: bullets and then not being able to feel strong enough
- 15:42Speaker 4: emotionally or physically to help in that other situation, tries
- 15:46Speaker 4: to get stronger, and I think she goes about it
- 15:50Speaker 4: in like a very like halphazard way.
- 15:56Speaker 2: Like.
- 15:57Speaker 4: Running around on the rooftops and swinging around, striking around
- 16:02Speaker 4: the city. I think playing around more with what she
- 16:05Speaker 4: can do, having Jillian like throw ping pong balls at
- 16:10Speaker 4: her so she can like zap them out of the air,
- 16:13Speaker 4: dodge them, just like simulate some of the things that
- 16:18Speaker 4: happened to her. And yeah, just tries to get a
- 16:22Speaker 4: little stronger. I was about to say, like uses a
- 16:24Speaker 4: hobby horse to be the rhino taur.
- 16:26Speaker 2: But that's too far. So you can either get two
- 16:34Speaker 2: power pips to use, or you can succeed on one
- 16:38Speaker 2: check or excuse me, succeed on one branched power and
- 16:42Speaker 2: get one pip or succeed on two branch powers.
- 16:45Speaker 4: I think I've succeeded on the branch powers I've attempted.
- 16:48Speaker 1: There might be one that I didn't get.
- 16:50Speaker 2: You did this telekinetic thing that you fail.
- 16:53Speaker 4: Yes, yeah, to like move appliances. Yeah, I'll take that
- 16:56Speaker 4: one and then a power pip.
- 16:58Speaker 2: Got it? So one power pip? Yes, from getting strong.
- 17:02Speaker 1: Yes, I'll put it on my lightning whip.
- 17:04Speaker 2: Awesome. Riisel, you uh training at all?
- 17:09Speaker 5: I put a foreign training for in true yeah, because
- 17:15Speaker 5: after that that was my first time flying and really
- 17:19Speaker 5: using my strength. So I think Rider would want to
- 17:22Speaker 5: get a lot more comfortable on the on the on
- 17:25Speaker 5: the flight stars, as well as yet starting to test
- 17:30Speaker 5: the limits of this newfound strength.
- 17:33Speaker 2: Awesome. I don't think you've tried any branching powers. So
- 17:36Speaker 2: you get four power pips? Uh, well you can put
- 17:40Speaker 2: onto attack or defense rolls. Wow, future combat paper, phantom training,
- 17:48Speaker 2: big old goose egg for me arrogance. I love it.
- 17:56Speaker 2: Now we're going to do patrol. Anybody would we give
- 17:59Speaker 2: to patrol? Y'all one under patrol? Got two two to patrol?
- 18:06Speaker 2: What do you give you to patrol? Jamir zero zero
- 18:09Speaker 2: to patrol. Jamir is not out and about not No,
- 18:15Speaker 2: I'm not looking for trouble just yet. I'm trying it.
- 18:17Speaker 2: Where do you think your patrol takes you? Quanta or
- 18:20Speaker 2: what part of the city? What are you looking for?
- 18:22Speaker 2: What are you looking to stop?
- 18:23Speaker 4: I think I first go back to where I saw
- 18:26Speaker 4: interaction with Camp and that business owner and try to
- 18:30Speaker 4: ascertain what the business is. I know that's like a
- 18:32Speaker 4: little bit like threadchasy, but like no patrol. Yeah, that's
- 18:35Speaker 4: like where she starts because she knows that she saw
- 18:38Speaker 4: him there, saw Camp there, So wondering like what else
- 18:42Speaker 4: is going on in that neighborhood? Is there anyone else
- 18:45Speaker 4: who might need help? And then kind of like thinking subconsciously,
- 18:49Speaker 4: like if she could stop something from happening in that
- 18:53Speaker 4: area might assuage some of the guilt she feels overfleeing
- 18:57Speaker 4: the first time.
- 18:59Speaker 2: Great, first roll a vision check?
- 19:01Speaker 1: Okay, vision one?
- 19:03Speaker 2: A one? Oh, I need to roll. That's how this
- 19:05Speaker 2: game works.
- 19:07Speaker 1: In this game you made.
- 19:08Speaker 2: Oh wait, but you can't beat me? No, wait, are
- 19:11Speaker 2: you gonna empower it at all?
- 19:12Speaker 1: Well? What am I like? You just said vision check?
- 19:15Speaker 1: So what's my context?
- 19:17Speaker 2: So you're trying to figure out what the uh what
- 19:19Speaker 2: that business might be. You're trying to track some ill repute,
- 19:25Speaker 2: some some ne'er do wells in the area. So I
- 19:29Speaker 2: mean I think you're serious.
- 19:31Speaker 4: Yeah, I think like she's just always yeah, taking in
- 19:33Speaker 4: the electrical wiring of buildings and what people's feelings are
- 19:37Speaker 4: and their hormones and absolutely just kind of letting it
- 19:40Speaker 4: all Russian in this area for sure.
- 19:43Speaker 2: So yeah, go ahead and roll your synaptic scan with that.
- 19:46Speaker 1: Oh bo, it's gonna be so much a bet. Okay,
- 19:48Speaker 1: that's a four total.
- 19:49Speaker 2: Nice. Yeah, I'm rolling an average check. So I'm rolling
- 19:53Speaker 2: a D eight. I rolled a one. A few things, Okay.
- 19:57Speaker 2: You spend some more time looking at this starewell heading
- 20:01Speaker 2: down into a broad area. You get a peek in
- 20:05Speaker 2: there every now and again. Every night it is a
- 20:09Speaker 2: light with activity. You see drunken patrons coming out stumbling.
- 20:19Speaker 2: So there's the alcohol, which is supposed to be illegal
- 20:22Speaker 2: after seven, so you know that's going on. But also
- 20:27Speaker 2: you start to hear some of their language grieving the
- 20:32Speaker 2: loss of hard earned money. Seems to be a gambling ring,
- 20:39Speaker 2: so you gain that information. You also gain the information
- 20:45Speaker 2: that it is a yakuza operation. The Japanese mom. The
- 20:50Speaker 2: other thing that you noticed. I think you start to
- 20:53Speaker 2: track camps activity. You start to recognize his car, recognize
- 20:58Speaker 2: his electrical signals signal, and he I think you gather
- 21:03Speaker 2: he is the collector on this side of town. Okay,
- 21:07Speaker 2: he is collecting money for whom you're not certain, but
- 21:12Speaker 2: he just goes around, he collects. He doesn't do every collection,
- 21:16Speaker 2: the smaller ones he just sends his cronies to. But
- 21:20Speaker 2: the bigger collections, like this very nice gambling establishment, he
- 21:26Speaker 2: goes in, he knocks heads if he needs to, and
- 21:31Speaker 2: he collects the money.
- 21:32Speaker 4: So then I'm starting to get the sense that there's
- 21:34Speaker 4: somebody above him.
- 21:36Speaker 2: Because that he collects four.
- 21:38Speaker 4: Yeah, because for Quanta, like seeing all those guys in
- 21:41Speaker 4: the council, the church council, I think the assumption was
- 21:47Speaker 4: these guys are all at the top of whatever they're doing.
- 21:50Speaker 2: Right, and I think you start to realize that's not
- 21:53Speaker 2: the case. Okay, cool patrol on your end.
- 21:58Speaker 3: Yeah, I think I want to do sent all of
- 22:01Speaker 3: the people that were chained up at the desks in
- 22:03Speaker 3: the warehouse to the shoot right. Yes, I think I
- 22:06Speaker 3: want to check up on them, like not to make
- 22:08Speaker 3: sure they're doing bad, but that like that they're adjusting
- 22:12Speaker 3: well and making sure that nobody's saying advantage of them
- 22:14Speaker 3: and trying to protect them.
- 22:16Speaker 2: Interesting, I'm gonna I think I'm gonna send Jamir on
- 22:21Speaker 2: this with you, which I have the power to do
- 22:23Speaker 2: because I'm the goddamn GD. Yes, sir, that's yeah, sense
- 22:30Speaker 2: for goddamn, it's recursive. GD. Do you think you've ever
- 22:36Speaker 2: been to the shoot? I don't think Jason would have necessarily. Yeah,
- 22:41Speaker 2: so I think and you have you revealed your shoot
- 22:44Speaker 2: kid Jamir to them? No? No, okay, Well so maybe Jimir,
- 22:48Speaker 2: this isn't a thing you do. But I think in
- 22:50Speaker 2: your discussions in the manner, maybe you say at some
- 22:54Speaker 2: point like you're going to check on these people Jamiir,
- 22:58Speaker 2: do you feel like you need to go with him
- 23:00Speaker 2: or that's not a bad idea.
- 23:05Speaker 5: I kind of look Chason up and down, but maybe
- 23:10Speaker 5: maybe I could go and scope it out and report
- 23:13Speaker 5: back to you.
- 23:14Speaker 2: I mean, have you been in the shoot much? First time?
- 23:20Speaker 3: I was just gonna throw some people against the wall
- 23:22Speaker 3: and glide around.
- 23:24Speaker 2: I don't know, Oh, you're going as the phantom. I
- 23:27Speaker 2: guess I could just walk around.
- 23:28Speaker 3: Sure, I was gonna yeah, I mean, I could be
- 23:33Speaker 3: pretty sneaky, I can. I can you think it's better
- 23:35Speaker 3: to stick stick to the shadows.
- 23:39Speaker 5: Just don't I mean, don't hurt anybody. You're just you're
- 23:43Speaker 5: just trying to see if the people we freed are
- 23:45Speaker 5: all right. Yeah, yeah, as long as the Phantom's not
- 23:50Speaker 5: out for blood. Yeah, man, go at it. Thank you
- 23:53Speaker 5: for your blessing. I mean, yeah, I I think I
- 23:58Speaker 5: have a lot more experience in the shoot.
- 24:00Speaker 2: You do.
- 24:00Speaker 5: No disrespect based on the zero you just gave me.
- 24:04Speaker 5: My number, I'll say is a lot higher than that.
- 24:10Speaker 5: You gotta be careful how you move in the shoot.
- 24:12Speaker 5: But no disrespect. I thought Jason was going in. If
- 24:19Speaker 5: the Phantom's going in, I have a little bit more
- 24:23Speaker 5: confidence in it going well, No disrespect.
- 24:27Speaker 2: None, Taking paper phantom, roll a kox check to try
- 24:34Speaker 2: to get the information about these people or investigated to
- 24:37Speaker 2: guide the one, and.
- 24:38Speaker 3: Do you mind if I empower it with my I
- 24:40Speaker 3: would say paper sense would probably make the most sense
- 24:42Speaker 3: if I'm sort of investigating and trying to see what's
- 24:46Speaker 3: in people's pockets and their wallets and stuff.
- 24:49Speaker 2: Yeah, I think you get maybe a moniker of information
- 24:52Speaker 2: from that. Okay, that's moniker the right word modicum, modicum.
- 24:57Speaker 2: What's a moniker? That's like a name, nickname. You get
- 25:02Speaker 2: a good monoicum monochrome.
- 25:05Speaker 3: Wouldn't mind a moniker monochrome. We already got the paper
- 25:08Speaker 3: clad lad.
- 25:10Speaker 2: What'd you roll?
- 25:11Speaker 6: Oh?
- 25:11Speaker 2: Four four? I rolled a six so this is a fail.
- 25:15Speaker 2: You head to the shoot. It is a baffling experience
- 25:21Speaker 2: for Jason. The world outside of the shoot you're very
- 25:28Speaker 2: comfortable with, very familiar with. For the most part, the
- 25:31Speaker 2: shoot operates so differently. It is a den of protection,
- 25:37Speaker 2: of mistrust of the outside. You start asking questions. People
- 25:44Speaker 2: start asking you things like are you a cop? Why
- 25:48Speaker 2: you hear this kind of thing? You do get the
- 25:53Speaker 2: information that there was a group, a large group of
- 25:57Speaker 2: people that came here, and from then on you're just
- 26:02Speaker 2: you're You're blocked as as in like people wonder, well,
- 26:06Speaker 2: why do you want to know about them? Why would
- 26:08Speaker 2: you care? There's just this protective barrier against this, these
- 26:12Speaker 2: people that but you do your best. On the way
- 26:16Speaker 2: out of the shoot, you see a woman who stands
- 26:24Speaker 2: where the shoot curves into the ground. She has made
- 26:27Speaker 2: a little lean to a home here. She stands naked,
- 26:34Speaker 2: all except for a triangle board, and the triangle board says,
- 26:43Speaker 2: prepare the way for new gods. The old gods are dead.
- 26:48Speaker 2: And as you're leaving, she smiles at you with a
- 26:53Speaker 2: few missing teeth, as Hey, the new gods are coming.
- 26:59Speaker 2: Get ready. I haven't seen you around here before.
- 27:04Speaker 3: At this point too, I'm covered in what's like found
- 27:06Speaker 3: like newspapers and stuff my like newspapers on guns. I'm
- 27:09Speaker 3: kind of like a dirt, a dirty gray phantom new
- 27:13Speaker 3: new Gods.
- 27:14Speaker 2: Yeah, they're coming. They wanted me to tell you.
- 27:20Speaker 6: Uh.
- 27:20Speaker 2: And these new Gouds got a name. I haven't told
- 27:25Speaker 2: me yet. I'm Gabby. She puts her hand out to
- 27:29Speaker 2: shake your.
- 27:30Speaker 3: Hand, Jason, feeling the is the sign made of paper
- 27:35Speaker 3: that she's wearing. Yes, I can feel her naked body
- 27:38Speaker 3: against just that, But grudgingly, I'll just put extra paper
- 27:44Speaker 3: on my hand and get my handshake.
- 27:47Speaker 2: Thanks. Thanks, Gabby. Use and where else do you want
- 27:50Speaker 2: to patrol for your number two? I guess I kind
- 27:54Speaker 2: of want to go up.
- 27:56Speaker 3: Uh, Like I guess so the direction that rough and
- 28:01Speaker 3: Tumble burst through the warehouse, I kind of want to
- 28:04Speaker 3: just track back like a giant rhino, Like I want
- 28:06Speaker 3: to look for signs of destruction or like maybe where
- 28:10Speaker 3: they came just that direction.
- 28:12Speaker 2: Of the city, wherever that at near the warehouse. Yeah,
- 28:15Speaker 2: so they burst in through the south of this warehouse.
- 28:18Speaker 2: You don't find much at all. Roll a vision check
- 28:21Speaker 2: for me. That's five. I rolled a seven. You do
- 28:26Speaker 2: see some tire tracks in the back alley. You can
- 28:30Speaker 2: only assume maybe they got driven up by a van,
- 28:32Speaker 2: but you don't find much in that direction on a
- 28:37Speaker 2: two patrol. I'm gonna give you something else. You crouch
- 28:41Speaker 2: on the top of your library, your domain, looking over
- 28:45Speaker 2: the ask part of the city. One evening during this week,
- 28:50Speaker 2: you've claimed this city as your own. Streaking from the
- 28:54Speaker 2: west side of town, maybe twelve motorcycles ripping across the city,
- 29:03Speaker 2: hooting and hollering as they ride. Small handheld machine guns
- 29:12Speaker 2: start going off up into the air, up against bricks.
- 29:16Speaker 2: They zip past the library.
- 29:21Speaker 3: I think the Phantom would just engage that, like he
- 29:24Speaker 3: would just try and chase them. But I'm gonna have Jason,
- 29:27Speaker 3: like from the back seat put his hand on the
- 29:30Speaker 3: paper Phantom's shoulder and be like, that's like a whole
- 29:33Speaker 3: gang of gun guys, whole gang. Maybe we should, you know,
- 29:39Speaker 3: play it cool? Yeah, And if I can, I'd like to,
- 29:45Speaker 3: can I just like fold an intricate paper talisman and
- 29:50Speaker 3: try and like attach it to one of their motorcycles
- 29:53Speaker 3: just for later identification.
- 29:55Speaker 2: Sure you don't go after them, No, No, okay, here's
- 30:00Speaker 2: what you don't see happen. After this. Fuck, that's okay.
- 30:05Speaker 2: I love it. I love it. Impossibly silent steps lead
- 30:17Speaker 2: twelve leather clad yakuza members into the various homes of
- 30:25Speaker 2: the Irish Coppos. While they sleep, they all take out tontos,
- 30:33Speaker 2: which is the short katana, and they systematically cut off
- 30:41Speaker 2: the heads of the Irish, the Irish Coppos and put
- 30:45Speaker 2: them in dripping bags of blood. And I sleep great,
- 31:01Speaker 2: not knowing that exactly we all do.
- 31:04Speaker 1: Yeah, you guys sleep good.
- 31:07Speaker 2: Last night, bundled up like a cinnamon.
- 31:09Speaker 1: But yeah, it was a nice night. Was it a
- 31:11Speaker 1: new moon or something?
- 31:12Speaker 2: Mercury is in retrograde?
- 31:14Speaker 1: Sure?
- 31:14Speaker 2: Is that good or bad?
- 31:16Speaker 1: No idea? Okay, Jamiir? You know about space stuff?
- 31:19Speaker 2: Yeah, mercury depends. When were you born?
- 31:25Speaker 1: I imagine do you have a backyard, Jamiir?
- 31:27Speaker 4: Oh yeah, I like one night, I just imagine all
- 31:30Speaker 4: of us, like heads in a circle, just looking up
- 31:33Speaker 4: at the stars together.
- 31:34Speaker 2: And yeah, that one looks like a bunny.
- 31:38Speaker 1: Just like trauma bonding.
- 31:40Speaker 2: So fast, let's do unmasked life, Quanta, or let's start
- 31:48Speaker 2: with Jamior because he did zero for patrol. What do
- 31:51Speaker 2: you do for unmasked life? Jamiir?
- 31:54Speaker 5: I only put in a one, so I'm just trying
- 31:59Speaker 5: to just do the bare minimum to just like be
- 32:03Speaker 5: seen at work, do a little bit of work, stop
- 32:06Speaker 5: by the house a couple times this week, way less
- 32:10Speaker 5: than I normally would, and then also check in once
- 32:15Speaker 5: on Taylor's mom and dad.
- 32:17Speaker 2: Got it. Taylor's parents live in Colorado South. As a group,
- 32:22Speaker 2: we haven't been to Colorado South much. I know it's
- 32:24Speaker 2: where quantas from. Yeah, but you Jamir, you like Koso
- 32:30Speaker 2: more than anywhere else. It feels like the Shoot. Like
- 32:39Speaker 2: the Shoot, people here are mostly black and brown. Unlike
- 32:44Speaker 2: the Shoot, however, their culture is based less on where
- 32:48Speaker 2: they live now and more on where they come from.
- 32:52Speaker 2: All the beauty of Hispanic and black culture are celebrated
- 32:56Speaker 2: on this side of town, unlike the Shooters. They let
- 32:59Speaker 2: their grow long and jet black, braided, dreaded and voluminous afros.
- 33:08Speaker 2: There are enormous block parties with dancing and live music.
- 33:14Speaker 2: Parks are makeshift stages for flamenco and then scratching in
- 33:20Speaker 2: empty spaces. Fathers and mothers run kitchens as strict as
- 33:25Speaker 2: the nicest restaurants in Kono to make food infinitely more
- 33:29Speaker 2: flavorful and tender. There are things that happen here that
- 33:34Speaker 2: white folk on the North Side and the East Side
- 33:36Speaker 2: could never imagine. There are certainly white folk that live here, though,
- 33:43Speaker 2: and when they've been there long enough, the neighborhood takes
- 33:46Speaker 2: them in, protects, loves, and feeds them. Taylor's family is
- 33:52Speaker 2: one of these white families. Taylor's grandfather was a shoot
- 33:59Speaker 2: cleaner in the age of the space barge program. He
- 34:04Speaker 2: moved here for work and to settle down. Taylor's parents
- 34:08Speaker 2: live in the same affordable housing townhouse that Taylor's grandfather
- 34:13Speaker 2: bought with his wages. They love the South Side and
- 34:18Speaker 2: they wouldn't leave, but they wanted their children to have
- 34:21Speaker 2: opportunities that they didn't, so when they heard that Taylor
- 34:25Speaker 2: wanted to be a police officer, they saved up as
- 34:28Speaker 2: much money as they could to send him to the
- 34:29Speaker 2: police academy in Kno. Predictably, Southsiders do not have much
- 34:36Speaker 2: trust for the police on the south Side. Taylor's mother
- 34:42Speaker 2: is Lenny and his father is Cameron. You always call
- 34:47Speaker 2: them mister and Missus Dennis, but they always correct you
- 34:51Speaker 2: with their first names. You knock on the door, Missus
- 34:57Speaker 2: Dennis opens it and sees you. You can tell for
- 35:01Speaker 2: a moment that she fights off a well of tears
- 35:05Speaker 2: that is ever attempting to force its way out. She
- 35:08Speaker 2: fights it boldly for about three seconds, and then she rupts,
- 35:13Speaker 2: covers her face, and runs off into the house. I'm sorry, Jamir,
- 35:18Speaker 2: I'm sorry running off. It's okay, missus. Dennis, it's okay.
- 35:23Speaker 2: Mister Dennis comes up, shakes your hand, and then pulls
- 35:27Speaker 2: you in for just a big old hug. Oh oh, hey, oh, Jimyir.
- 35:36Speaker 2: You know, you know, you were one of the first
- 35:40Speaker 2: people I thought about. I mean, sure, we're home, we're
- 35:45Speaker 2: our life. You know, we're devastated over here. But I thought,
- 35:50Speaker 2: poor Jamir, poor Jacky. You don't deserve to lose such
- 35:54Speaker 2: a close friendship, you know, I mean, the friendship you
- 35:57Speaker 2: three had. It's hard to come by. Just sad to
- 36:04Speaker 2: know there's one fewer friendship like that out there. I'm sorry,
- 36:11Speaker 2: I'm sorry, Bud, mister Dennis, I'm so sorry. It's not right.
- 36:25Speaker 2: It's not right. Yeah, I ain't that the truth. And
- 36:33Speaker 2: when you're gonna start calling me Cameron, I don't know,
- 36:40Speaker 2: not today, all right. Taylor's mom comes in, wiping her tears.
- 36:49Speaker 2: I'm sorry about that, Jamiir. It's still hard, you know,
- 36:52Speaker 2: it's still fresh.
- 36:53Speaker 5: Hey, hey, I can go if now it's not a
- 36:56Speaker 5: good time, or if another day would be better, just
- 37:02Speaker 5: I just don't want to be a stranger. No, please
- 37:05Speaker 5: stay as long as you want. We he's still He's
- 37:10Speaker 5: still with us, in in you. You know.
- 37:15Speaker 2: That that means a lot. He loved you both so much.
- 37:24Speaker 5: And since he can't, I just want to check on
- 37:30Speaker 5: you guys and help out if you guys need anything
- 37:36Speaker 5: done around the house or picked up.
- 37:38Speaker 2: I brought some snacks.
- 37:41Speaker 5: I pull out my bag and I brought them not much,
- 37:46Speaker 5: but just the fanciest bag of chips I could get,
- 37:50Speaker 5: and a very nice dip, but that still is sour
- 37:55Speaker 5: cream based. They smile, shake their head, Jamir, we're all
- 38:05Speaker 5: hurting here. We can hurt together. We'll take care of you.
- 38:10Speaker 5: You take care of us. We appreciate it.
- 38:15Speaker 2: Taylor had a little sister named Sarah. She comes home
- 38:21Speaker 2: from school this day, slams the door, sees you. She's
- 38:26Speaker 2: only a few years younger than you, but still she's
- 38:30Speaker 2: that seventeen eighteen kind of senior year. Yeah. Hey, Jamir,
- 38:37Speaker 2: Hey good to see you. Yeah, I guess, yeah, hard
- 38:43Speaker 2: to find good right now. I guess it's good. It's
- 38:46Speaker 2: good to see you. No, it's I'm so sorry. Thanks, mister.
- 38:56Speaker 2: Dennis pipes up, slams his hand into the couch next
- 39:02Speaker 2: to him where he's sitting. Just doesn't make sense, you know.
- 39:06Speaker 2: Down here, all they told us is he got you
- 39:09Speaker 2: got shot in Koso. Doesn't make any sense. He grew
- 39:14Speaker 2: up here at this missus Dennis kind of pats him.
- 39:18Speaker 2: It's like, calm down, sweetye, it's okay, it's okay. As
- 39:22Speaker 2: he kind of gets fired up and she does her
- 39:26Speaker 2: best to calm him down. I say, it's hard to
- 39:31Speaker 2: know what to believe these days. You have this interaction
- 39:35Speaker 2: with Taylor's parents. One more thing for your unmasked life.
- 39:42Speaker 2: You at that. Towards the end of this week, there
- 39:46Speaker 2: is a message on your on the home phone. You
- 39:50Speaker 2: say you went to your parents house once. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 39:54Speaker 2: I'd probably once or twice. I'd get a dinner a
- 39:56Speaker 2: meal over there. There is a message on your on
- 39:59Speaker 2: your home phone, and it's Jackie or I guess I
- 40:02Speaker 2: should ask, is Jackie a part of your thread? Chasing
- 40:05Speaker 2: that Jesse's a big Jackie's a big part. Jackie is
- 40:08Speaker 2: a big part of my then never mind, because if
- 40:10Speaker 2: you hadn't checked in with her, she'd be be pissed. Yeah, yeah, okay, cool, great,
- 40:16Speaker 2: well fuck, that's sad you unmasked life for.
- 40:21Speaker 1: Steph for yeah, Veronica has not much in her life left,
- 40:28Speaker 1: but kwanta so zero Yeah makes sense.
- 40:31Speaker 2: Your moms do call your house at one point extremely
- 40:38Speaker 2: worried about you. They saw you on the news, and
- 40:42Speaker 2: you have a message from your mom Sandy left on
- 40:46Speaker 2: your telephone. I don't think you talked to them with
- 40:48Speaker 2: a zero, but she says, honey, just let me let
- 40:52Speaker 2: me know. I'll uh, I'll take this to court. You're
- 40:55Speaker 2: still you're still up and about uh. They pronounced you
- 40:59Speaker 2: did the church did and that's just not true. And
- 41:02Speaker 2: also the stuff you did in true. So let me
- 41:05Speaker 2: take this to court. Well, we'll run them over and
- 41:08Speaker 2: you can start living your life again. I love you, honey. Bye.
- 41:15Speaker 2: You get that message from your mom for you paper phantom,
- 41:19Speaker 2: I put a three three. Yeah.
- 41:21Speaker 3: I want to go back to the library. I wanna
- 41:24Speaker 3: do a bunch of stuff. Yeah, I want to do
- 41:26Speaker 3: just a bunch of work at the library. I feel
- 41:28Speaker 3: like since meeting other people that aren't books to talk
- 41:33Speaker 3: to and compartmentalizing all of the anger inside of Jason.
- 41:38Speaker 3: He's feeling great. Yeah, it's excited to maybe hang out
- 41:41Speaker 3: with Arthur, say, I had a page and do all
- 41:44Speaker 3: of his duties using his paper.
- 41:46Speaker 2: Power as the library. Awesome. So you keep up with
- 41:50Speaker 2: your job. You do the normal paper stuff or the
- 41:54Speaker 2: book stuff with your paper powers. So keeping up with
- 41:59Speaker 2: your job is one. You hang out with Arthur one night,
- 42:03Speaker 2: Arthur and Page together and they want to rain check
- 42:10Speaker 2: on that parcheesy night that you skipped out on before. Nice.
- 42:15Speaker 3: Yeah, I'll pick up like not a not fancy like
- 42:22Speaker 3: caso dip the sour cream based thinking that par cheesy
- 42:27Speaker 3: is a cheese based activity.
- 42:29Speaker 2: It is tonight, tonight, the awesome Arthur. Oh, Jason, so
- 42:43Speaker 2: glad you're joining us tonight. You've been out and about.
- 42:46Speaker 2: I haven't seen much of you.
- 42:47Speaker 3: Oh yeah, yeah yeah, I've just been been busy and uh,
- 42:51Speaker 3: I'm so glad that.
- 42:54Speaker 2: You guys are doing okay. Everything's been good here right, Yeah, yes,
- 42:58Speaker 2: everything's been good. As you know. He gives you a
- 43:02Speaker 2: not so subtle wink. We have the money, we need
- 43:06Speaker 2: to keep up and running for a while. You got
- 43:08Speaker 2: something in your eight. No, okay, what are you talking? Good?
- 43:11Speaker 2: What are you you just I'm fine having a struck.
- 43:14Speaker 2: I'm fine. I'm fucking fine, all right cool?
- 43:18Speaker 7: Oh oh oh, yes, that is good. Later Age looks
- 43:26Speaker 7: at the two of you. Page is so smart. You
- 43:29Speaker 7: gather in her mind in her eye here.
- 43:32Speaker 2: That she she looks at the both of you and
- 43:35Speaker 2: it's like, you, guys, you gotta tell me what's going on?
- 43:40Speaker 2: What's going on with you too? Lately? Uh, we've it's
- 43:48Speaker 2: gotten into smoking. She looks at Arthur, so angry. Arthur smoking,
- 43:57Speaker 2: You're eighty five? What are you doing? No, No, it's
- 44:01Speaker 2: so fine. I have like smoke for old people. Smoking
- 44:04Speaker 2: smoking for the elderly. It's good for me. Yeah, there's
- 44:09Speaker 2: new research. It's good for old people. Pages, I'm a biochemist.
- 44:12Speaker 2: That is not real. You guys, play part cheesy and
- 44:18Speaker 2: have a wonderful night. Let's roll roll for winning part cheesy.
- 44:23Speaker 2: What this is a I don't know? Ready checks street
- 44:29Speaker 2: smart check because isn't par cheesy on streets? I no, no,
- 44:34Speaker 2: I just thought which do you want? You want? Ready?
- 44:36Speaker 2: Your street smarts? Street smarts is good? Six oh man.
- 44:42Speaker 1: What about to get out of the friend.
- 44:43Speaker 2: I'm about to about to get cheesey up in here,
- 44:47Speaker 2: get cheese Arthur and Page, uh, Page rolls an eight
- 44:55Speaker 2: and Arthur rolls at three. So page beat Page wins.
- 45:00Speaker 2: It's close game.
- 45:01Speaker 1: Page beats paper.
- 45:03Speaker 2: Hey, hey, you guys have a wonderful time. Arthur breaks
- 45:07Speaker 2: out that old new babble. Whiskey. Oh it's old people whiskey.
- 45:11Speaker 2: It's good for old people, so nice. It's good for
- 45:14Speaker 2: my my age group. You guys enjoy this evening together.
- 45:21Speaker 2: Paige yawns, all right, I gotta go home. I love
- 45:25Speaker 2: you both. He stands up, patch you both on the shoulder. Arthur,
- 45:32Speaker 2: as you watch Page leave, looks at you with a
- 45:35Speaker 2: mischievous smile. So what are you doing? What about the
- 45:42Speaker 2: what do you want to do? You actually want to smoke? Oh?
- 45:45Speaker 2: Not smoking? Oh okay, I don't. I shouldn't smoke. I'm
- 45:48Speaker 2: so old, so old, and I've gotten beat up a
- 45:51Speaker 2: few times. Yeah oh yeah, yeah, yeah, but that hasn't
- 45:54Speaker 2: happened recently, right right, yeah, wait, wait, we need to
- 45:57Speaker 2: talk about this. Jason and I have been beaten up recently.
- 46:01Speaker 2: And hey, Page told me that the thing that saved
- 46:05Speaker 2: her that night killed a guy.
- 46:09Speaker 3: Okay, all right, a level with you. You know, we've
- 46:14Speaker 3: got we've got we're both in the magic club, right,
- 46:20Speaker 3: we're not.
- 46:23Speaker 2: What was that you? You? You're apparently in the magic club.
- 46:28Speaker 2: Magic happened to you?
- 46:30Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, we're both magicians.
- 46:32Speaker 2: It's fine.
- 46:33Speaker 3: Okay, So you know how when the book got bound
- 46:39Speaker 3: to me? Uh, and the guys who were here, they
- 46:45Speaker 3: you know, they got you killed them. I didn't mean
- 46:49Speaker 3: to do that.
- 46:49Speaker 2: I let that one go because that was a whole
- 46:52Speaker 2: new world of fucked up shit. But this guy, this guy.
- 46:59Speaker 2: You didn't have to kill this guy.
- 47:01Speaker 3: Maybe I didn't mean to, but I was so angry,
- 47:03Speaker 3: hurt you and took page and I don't know, I
- 47:07Speaker 3: got a little out of hand. But hey, the the
- 47:10Speaker 3: mob won't bother us anymore.
- 47:13Speaker 2: You have to find different ways, Jason. Don't let it
- 47:16Speaker 2: take over. Okay, I mean, all right, I'll.
- 47:23Speaker 3: Try, but so far, I'll be honest, I've seen only
- 47:29Speaker 3: positive results.
- 47:32Speaker 2: He rolls his eyes. Jason, you don't know what's in you? Oh?
- 47:38Speaker 2: And you do? He pauses, Yes, m all right, what's
- 47:51Speaker 2: in me? I'm sorry. We can't Hey, hey, now I
- 47:59Speaker 2: can't We can't talk about it now. When then, when
- 48:03Speaker 2: I don't know when you're ready. What's in you is
- 48:07Speaker 2: dangerous and you know that because uh, because of my family,
- 48:14Speaker 2: because of our background, because of magic.
- 48:17Speaker 3: Do you want to be any more specific? Because if
- 48:22Speaker 3: you don't want to tell me anything else, then I
- 48:24Speaker 3: don't need to tell you anything else either.
- 48:29Speaker 2: That's a good point. Damn you not tonight. I need
- 48:35Speaker 2: to think about it. I need to think about how
- 48:36Speaker 2: to do it right. Fine. These are strange powers, Jason.
- 48:42Speaker 2: We can't deal with them flippantly or use their these
- 48:49Speaker 2: entities in vain.
- 48:51Speaker 3: Oh, if you're ready to talk, I'll be ready to listen.
- 48:57Speaker 2: Okay, but until then? Par cheesy?
- 49:03Speaker 3: Which is I think you say that when you win,
- 49:04Speaker 3: right is that you say that when Yeah, okay, I
- 49:07Speaker 3: didn't win, But parchie, par cheesy to.
- 49:09Speaker 2: You, par cheesy to you. On your three for Unmasked Life,
- 49:16Speaker 2: your third page comes in and it just into the
- 49:23Speaker 2: library on a normal daytime hours while you're working, and
- 49:27Speaker 2: she has with her a companion.
- 49:31Speaker 4: Oh no, oh yes, it's Quanta covered in lips.
- 49:39Speaker 1: It's my wig all askew.
- 49:47Speaker 2: Quanta and Mr both kickies. You work. No, she comes
- 49:56Speaker 2: in with a young, beautiful Asian woman. She shakes your
- 50:02Speaker 2: hand firmly, and Paige says, hey, Jason, I wanted to
- 50:07Speaker 2: introduce you to my friend. This is Elaine.
- 50:10Speaker 3: Oh right, Elaine, I'm Jason. Welcome to the library. Hey,
- 50:14Speaker 3: I haven't seen here before. Yeah, oh this is well.
- 50:18Speaker 3: I'm busy. I do live on the side of town,
- 50:20Speaker 3: but I'm busy and I yeah, I just met Paige.
- 50:24Speaker 3: We met over drinks and she wanted to show me
- 50:27Speaker 3: something important to her. Right pageays yes, yes, we kind
- 50:30Speaker 3: of grew up here, me and Jason. Oh, Jason. She's
- 50:34Speaker 3: such a badass. She's a detective specializes in seeking out
- 50:39Speaker 3: corruption in the city. Isn't that cool? Whoa cool? Yeah,
- 50:43Speaker 3: that's awesome. It's kind of like what we do here,
- 50:47Speaker 3: except with books and paper and stuff. Oh yeah, you
- 50:51Speaker 3: want to see my stamp? Sure, show me your stamp.
- 50:56Speaker 3: I pull it out. It says overdue.
- 51:00Speaker 2: That's awesome. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, no, I know, I look.
- 51:04Speaker 2: People give me this a lot. I look young, but
- 51:07Speaker 2: I made detective real early. Oh congratulations, Yeah, I know.
- 51:10Speaker 2: I wasn't gonna say how young you looked. Oh sorry,
- 51:13Speaker 2: it's just the first thing people say usually nope. I
- 51:16Speaker 2: wanted to show you my stamp right right, Well, it's
- 51:18Speaker 2: a very cool stamp. Jason, good to meet you. Page
- 51:22Speaker 2: kind of rushes her off into the building to look
- 51:25Speaker 2: at stuff, look at the places that were important to
- 51:28Speaker 2: her when she grew up, as she grew up. Awesome,
- 51:31Speaker 2: We are too thread chasing, right, So as a group,
- 51:36Speaker 2: what are our numbers for for Okay, lots of thread
- 51:41Speaker 2: chasing Number'd love to see it. We're doing it.
- 51:44Speaker 3: And I'll say to you so as as part of this,
- 51:47Speaker 3: because we have time, if if you'll allow, yeah, I
- 51:51Speaker 3: would like to use swirling tides as we start thread chasing. Yes,
- 51:56Speaker 3: And I'm going to allocate most of my energy. I'm
- 52:00Speaker 3: going to take it away from having a cloak and
- 52:03Speaker 3: a little bit from manipulating paper and just pour it
- 52:06Speaker 3: into sense.
- 52:06Speaker 2: I just want to sense paper sense. Yeah, amplify my
- 52:10Speaker 2: paper sense. If something sounds good, have.
- 52:13Speaker 3: A little teeny tiny cape just a CBS receipt.
- 52:17Speaker 2: What are we working on separately and what are we
- 52:20Speaker 2: working on together? Team?
- 52:24Speaker 4: I wrote down a few more threads as we were
- 52:26Speaker 4: going about this, which is rough and Tumble's creation. Yes,
- 52:30Speaker 4: And then Quanta's dad would be like a personal one
- 52:33Speaker 4: to her because she doesn't know where he is. Yeah,
- 52:37Speaker 4: so my list says five.
- 52:39Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 52:39Speaker 3: It stands to reason that we would all be interested,
- 52:42Speaker 3: certainly in the heroes of the past generation. We want
- 52:46Speaker 3: to learn more about them, and potentially between the library
- 52:52Speaker 3: and Jamir's grandmother's library, there might be some information to
- 52:57Speaker 3: do there.
- 52:57Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, Jamiir, maybe looks start with a discussion with
- 53:02Speaker 2: Jackie that might kick us off that road.
- 53:06Speaker 5: I would try to keep the like star grandma's research
- 53:12Speaker 5: stuff kind of separate.
- 53:14Speaker 2: And no, there's not enough nothing to do with the
- 53:17Speaker 2: city right now.
- 53:17Speaker 5: This is more family research ties. But I could be
- 53:23Speaker 5: convinced if otherwise. But yeah, but I would turn to
- 53:27Speaker 5: Jackie with this symbol, and my mind is racing as
- 53:34Speaker 5: I'm going to meet her, Like how much do I
- 53:38Speaker 5: have to say?
- 53:39Speaker 2: Yes, you meet Jackie at one of your normal spots,
- 53:44Speaker 2: let's be at the comic book shop, and are you
- 53:47Speaker 2: showing her this mark or what are you doing Jamie?
- 53:51Speaker 2: Or she rushes up, gives you a big hug. You
- 53:54Speaker 2: probably aren't meeting every day like you used to, but
- 53:57Speaker 2: probably every every other or so, still pretty frequently. And
- 54:02Speaker 2: she really is needing these times as you guys grieve together.
- 54:09Speaker 5: Hey, hey Jackie, ah jam her so good to see you. Yeah,
- 54:14Speaker 5: let's let's grab a couple of books. Take a seat,
- 54:17Speaker 5: you guys do. So as as I'm reading my book,
- 54:24Speaker 5: I subtly take out and fold up this would you
- 54:30Speaker 5: would you call it a scar for a sash? More
- 54:33Speaker 5: sash than scar? Yeah, more more fancy built sash. The situation,
- 54:38Speaker 5: this long piece of cloth, and I would kind of
- 54:41Speaker 5: suddenly fold it, fold it so that this part of
- 54:49Speaker 5: it is showing this symbol. And I would uh say, hey,
- 54:57Speaker 5: check out this panel, and I would show it to Jackie,
- 55:04Speaker 5: showing it in my book, trying to be subtle.
- 55:10Speaker 2: But you you're you're not trying to get her to
- 55:13Speaker 2: believe it is part of the book. No, no, no oh,
- 55:16Speaker 2: You're trying to hide it from the world, hide it
- 55:18Speaker 2: from people moving around us, and just kind of be like, hey,
- 55:22Speaker 2: she looks up at you, startled, and then the startle fades. Jami,
- 55:28Speaker 2: this is that's funny. That's funny. I like, I like
- 55:33Speaker 2: the joke. We need to laugh right now, you.
- 55:34Speaker 5: Know, No, no, no, I was widening a little bit,
- 55:39Speaker 5: and I say, you know, my grandma I told you
- 55:44Speaker 5: about Yeah.
- 55:45Speaker 2: Jami, are you telling me that she left me? She
- 55:50Speaker 2: left me on my birthday. I got more stuff from her,
- 55:56Speaker 2: including this. What the fuck is this is real? Yeah,
- 56:02Speaker 2: it's real. Don't make a big deal about it. Well,
- 56:04Speaker 2: it's a big fucking deal, Jamir. I don't know what
- 56:06Speaker 2: you want me to say. Well, what is it? Well,
- 56:09Speaker 2: we we have a trip, we need to go. Come
- 56:12Speaker 2: come with me. She grabs you. You guys head towards
- 56:17Speaker 2: the very pen Dragon Library. All right, she's mumbling in
- 56:22Speaker 2: her head. As you guys ride the train passing through
- 56:26Speaker 2: the city. You get to the pen Dragon Library. Jason
- 56:28Speaker 2: is at the at the desk up front with my
- 56:32Speaker 2: big old stamp with his stamp. Hey, Jason, Jackie says,
- 56:38Speaker 2: she probably knows you. Oh, she comes here a lot.
- 56:42Speaker 2: Was Jackie's last name, Garcia? Name is Garcia? Jason, God,
- 56:48Speaker 2: damn it. You don't have to do that. I just
- 56:52Speaker 2: it's a he look so young. Yeah I am young,
- 56:57Speaker 2: So you don't have to. This is my friend Jimir.
- 56:59Speaker 2: By the way, he doesn't come up here often. Oh,
- 57:04Speaker 2: Jimmy or Hi, I don't make that kind of Hey,
- 57:12Speaker 2: we're here looking for a book. Oh cool, We have those. Yeah,
- 57:15Speaker 2: for sure, we're not looking for book. We're not looking
- 57:18Speaker 2: for a book. We're going to the newspaper section. Oh yeah, yeah,
- 57:21Speaker 2: we have that too. Yeah, of course I know you
- 57:24Speaker 2: want to ask you. Thank you. We're okay, thank you.
- 57:28Speaker 2: All right, jimyr come on, she runs, good day to
- 57:31Speaker 2: the archive section, just dragging you along, Jamiir. She starts
- 57:35Speaker 2: pulling out very specific knowing exactly where they are, very
- 57:38Speaker 2: specific dates of newspaper clippings of pictures in the newspaper.
- 57:45Speaker 2: She starts pointing to them. See right here. She points
- 57:48Speaker 2: to a picture of Spellbook, who has a sash. She
- 57:54Speaker 2: points to a picture of Everwing, who has a sash.
- 57:58Speaker 2: She points to a picture of war hero of Inspector Claw,
- 58:04Speaker 2: of all of the heroes of the Founding Age, and
- 58:07Speaker 2: she pulls out different ones that she starts comparing. See,
- 58:10Speaker 2: they didn't always have this, but there was an era
- 58:14Speaker 2: where they it seems like they took on some kind
- 58:17Speaker 2: of persona together. I call it their their Hunter era
- 58:22Speaker 2: because it's all Orian. But as you can see, there
- 58:25Speaker 2: are different stars that have different that are that are amplified,
- 58:31Speaker 2: different stars that are bright in there on these sashes,
- 58:35Speaker 2: and you just have one. Your grandma had one. She
- 58:38Speaker 2: had one? Yeah, Well, what the fuck, jimyir this is
- 58:41Speaker 2: I don't know, this is crazy.
- 58:45Speaker 5: Yeah, okay, okay, I mean I showed you some of
- 58:49Speaker 5: her old stuff before.
- 58:51Speaker 2: I mean it was interesting.
- 58:52Speaker 5: We thought it was something magic related, but apparently she
- 58:56Speaker 5: also had I mean, she was alive during this time,
- 59:00Speaker 5: so maybe I don't know, she was by a fight
- 59:03Speaker 5: and picked it up off the ground or something.
- 59:05Speaker 2: I'm just guessing. I have no idea. She holds up
- 59:11Speaker 2: your specific sash and starts holding it up to the
- 59:14Speaker 2: different pictures as she brought out, and she says, here
- 59:19Speaker 2: and she points to Everwing, who has the Rigel Star sash.
- 59:25Speaker 5: Do you think Everywing was flying through New Babble he
- 59:30Speaker 5: was wearing this?
- 59:31Speaker 2: A thing about Everwing. Everwing is fully suited. It's a
- 59:38Speaker 2: very intricate mech tech suit with wings that sprout out
- 59:45Speaker 2: the back, silver and gold. It seems like she or
- 59:50Speaker 2: he was seems like they had it.
- 59:53Speaker 5: Holy shit, Grandma is just full of surprises, Decky.
- 59:58Speaker 2: Yeah, this is yeah, it's the biggest break we have. Fuck.
- 1:00:04Speaker 2: I wish I wish Taylor was here, I know, between
- 1:00:12Speaker 2: you and me. Okay, yeah, of course, okay, and that
- 1:00:17Speaker 2: guy at the desk, yeah, no, hang out with that guy.
- 1:00:22Speaker 3: I'm like behind you guys in the shadows, just breathing.
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: I'm making out with Paige.
- 1:00:31Speaker 2: Kidding awesome. So was there any hope in your thread
- 1:00:39Speaker 2: chasing to power up? Dirk?
- 1:00:42Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: Do you want at least to yeah.
- 1:00:45Speaker 2: Do that with the with the boys.
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: Yeah, come on, boys, let's power up.
- 1:00:52Speaker 4: My friend. Okay, I think we like we all find ourselves.
- 1:00:55Speaker 4: Just I feel like standing on each side of the bed,
- 1:00:59Speaker 4: like one of these side. Maybe I'm at the foot
- 1:01:01Speaker 4: of the bed, just kind of looking at him.
- 1:01:04Speaker 5: Jami pulls out of his satchel a pouch of blood.
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: What what? How?
- 1:01:13Speaker 5: How I just swiped it from the blood bank in
- 1:01:18Speaker 5: this shoot?
- 1:01:19Speaker 2: Oh oh, so I did this for no reason.
- 1:01:21Speaker 3: I hold in my hand is all the cut. I
- 1:01:26Speaker 3: started with a regular paper cup and I made it
- 1:01:28Speaker 3: too wide. My god, Jason, Sorry, he needed blood?
- 1:01:35Speaker 4: You said, right, yeah, yes, yeah, but I think we
- 1:01:37Speaker 4: should start with just a little bit so that.
- 1:01:40Speaker 5: Well, Now you say something, Can I do like a
- 1:01:45Speaker 5: check on Jason's day?
- 1:01:48Speaker 1: Jason?
- 1:01:49Speaker 2: Do it?
- 1:01:49Speaker 1: Just do a wellness.
- 1:01:50Speaker 2: This is the same day that Jason that page walked
- 1:01:54Speaker 2: in with someone else and he's really irritated. One of
- 1:01:58Speaker 2: those days.
- 1:01:59Speaker 4: Brother, Jason, are you no? I can I can tell
- 1:02:02Speaker 4: you're not good? What do you what do you mean?
- 1:02:04Speaker 2: No, I'm fine.
- 1:02:05Speaker 3: I'm fine, Guys, I'm compartmentalizing. It's healthy and normal. Put
- 1:02:12Speaker 3: the blood in the guy. Let's see what he says.
- 1:02:14Speaker 2: Do we need to?
- 1:02:15Speaker 1: I guess I'm one to talk. Okay?
- 1:02:16Speaker 2: Yeah? Are you yeah? Are you good?
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: No? No?
- 1:02:19Speaker 4: I'm not?
- 1:02:21Speaker 2: Oh? Sorry, thank you? Do you know? Okay? Nice?
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: Okay? Are you good?
- 1:02:36Speaker 5: Jamir?
- 1:02:36Speaker 4: Do we need We didn't check on you. What we
- 1:02:39Speaker 4: checked on each other. We didn't check on you. You
- 1:02:41Speaker 4: were acting weird at the library to a wellness?
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: Do you guys saw each other at the library?
- 1:02:46Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: I miss being able to go out and around places.
- 1:02:50Speaker 2: Soon we'll figure something out.
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:02:54Speaker 5: Yeah, you're a small person. We got big clothes. We'll
- 1:02:58Speaker 5: figure out something.
- 1:02:59Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:03:00Speaker 4: Nice to just you know, walk into the library. Maybe
- 1:03:06Speaker 4: meet a cute person who happens to you again.
- 1:03:10Speaker 2: I get.
- 1:03:16Speaker 4: Yeah, it'd be nice to Yeah, it'd be nice. Yeah,
- 1:03:19Speaker 4: but Dirk, maybe just I don't in the stuff I
- 1:03:23Speaker 4: read about him and learned about him, I don't. I
- 1:03:25Speaker 4: don't know how much he needs and like how long
- 1:03:29Speaker 4: the battery lasts, if you get my meaning? So maybe
- 1:03:34Speaker 4: just a little bit. Is it like we can just
- 1:03:40Speaker 4: drop it in, Johnny, or do we need like a canister.
- 1:03:43Speaker 1: To like.
- 1:03:45Speaker 2: So it looks like he's been kind of retrofitted for
- 1:03:48Speaker 2: the specific canister that they were using, likely by your dad. Yeah,
- 1:03:54Speaker 2: but there's also the simple putting blood in. It would
- 1:04:00Speaker 2: sucked down to the I have the perfect thing. I
- 1:04:03Speaker 2: still have that straw from before, amazing straw coming why,
- 1:04:13Speaker 2: I don't know. This is one of those paper straws
- 1:04:18Speaker 2: on the red.
- 1:04:20Speaker 3: Okay, I put the straw in, and I hope I
- 1:04:22Speaker 3: use paper Nancy to open one end up like a
- 1:04:24Speaker 3: funnel and you start, I mean, unless you want to
- 1:04:29Speaker 3: use your bla your bag blood.
- 1:04:31Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, we're definitely using the bag blood went.
- 1:04:35Speaker 1: He went through the trouble of stealing.
- 1:04:37Speaker 5: This blood has been like they ask you questions, This
- 1:04:39Speaker 5: blu has been tested. This is clean ship, all right?
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: Maybe you does your kitchen have like a dropper, a
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: little dropper anywhere?
- 1:04:48Speaker 3: Probably hold on while while we're alone, I'll look at
- 1:04:55Speaker 3: Quanta and be like, so is.
- 1:04:58Speaker 2: This guy like.
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: No, I know, no, don't have one of those.
- 1:05:07Speaker 2: Cool cool go go Google cool.
- 1:05:11Speaker 4: Do you do you have like a do you have
- 1:05:13Speaker 4: like a girlfriend or boyfriend or Oh no, nope, I'm
- 1:05:22Speaker 4: looking in his brain.
- 1:05:25Speaker 2: Oh without a roll, just some intense confusion and desire,
- 1:05:32Speaker 2: not towards you.
- 1:05:35Speaker 3: I think you can also probably see that part of
- 1:05:36Speaker 3: Jason's brain is just paper, phantom ship, separate.
- 1:05:43Speaker 2: Paper friend. Yeah, I do not read.
- 1:05:45Speaker 4: Oh gosh, I'm just like seeing the hollow space in
- 1:05:48Speaker 4: your body.
- 1:05:48Speaker 1: I'm like, oh I can't.
- 1:05:50Speaker 4: I just like shut you out, shut around the electricity,
- 1:05:54Speaker 4: send signals from you for a little whit.
- 1:05:56Speaker 2: Jason's whole deal is wild.
- 1:05:58Speaker 4: Okay, well, you know, if you ever I guess, like
- 1:06:02Speaker 4: we're friends now, so if you ever want to talk.
- 1:06:05Speaker 2: About stuff, Oh cool, Yeah, that'd be yeah.
- 1:06:10Speaker 4: Yeah, and I'm and I'm I know, I like cut
- 1:06:13Speaker 4: you off, but yeah, it'd be it'd be nice for
- 1:06:16Speaker 4: all of us to like talk about stuff.
- 1:06:19Speaker 2: Yeah, maybe we can. I can make you like a
- 1:06:23Speaker 2: mask or something.
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, cool?
- 1:06:27Speaker 2: Cool. You go down to the kitchen near to get
- 1:06:30Speaker 2: a to get a dropper, yep, Marie is down there
- 1:06:35Speaker 2: working on something. Do your friends need tea? Jay? Uh No, we.
- 1:06:40Speaker 5: Need like do we have like a baster of some
- 1:06:42Speaker 5: kind or like a stay a mini baster if that exists.
- 1:06:49Speaker 2: Yes, I have. We're like a dropper for like medicine
- 1:06:53Speaker 2: is really what I'm going for. But yes, there's certainly yes.
- 1:06:58Speaker 2: She gives you. She goes and grabs a bottle of
- 1:07:00Speaker 2: like one of those little essential oil. It's not essential oil,
- 1:07:04Speaker 2: what would it be eye droppers? Yeah, I dine drop great. Great.
- 1:07:11Speaker 2: Let me just rinse this out real quick.
- 1:07:13Speaker 3: And while this is happening, I think Jason is just
- 1:07:15Speaker 3: gonna put blood squeeze.
- 1:07:19Speaker 2: I don't know, just a couple of drops, Jimmy or
- 1:07:24Speaker 2: you make it back up to the room. As you
- 1:07:27Speaker 2: see Jason's hand over.
- 1:07:30Speaker 4: I'm sorry. I tried to have him wait. Also, we
- 1:07:32Speaker 4: should all talk about stuff. We decided we should all
- 1:07:35Speaker 4: talk about stuff, and Jason.
- 1:07:37Speaker 2: Went rogue, It's not me, it's the paper.
- 1:07:40Speaker 4: Oh my gosh, I can tell that it's you. I
- 1:07:42Speaker 4: can look at your brain and tell it's you.
- 1:07:44Speaker 2: Let's just wake him up. Come on, what's the worst
- 1:07:47Speaker 2: that can happen?
- 1:07:48Speaker 1: He could kill all of us.
- 1:07:49Speaker 2: No, he's not going to do that. Let's uh.
- 1:07:53Speaker 3: I wish you had said that before and drops of
- 1:07:55Speaker 3: blood like falling into this draw from my head at
- 1:07:58Speaker 3: already everybody, uh yeah, pulls it out of his pocket,
- 1:08:05Speaker 3: his due rag mask, puts.
- 1:08:08Speaker 4: On my hands, crossed in front of my body, and
- 1:08:11Speaker 4: as they separate, the whip appears and stretches in my hands.
- 1:08:14Speaker 2: Cool, very nice.
- 1:08:16Speaker 3: And Jason grabs a tissue from across the room and
- 1:08:20Speaker 3: holds its.
- 1:08:23Speaker 2: Perfect blood drips down this straw funnel from the Grimace King.
- 1:08:34Speaker 2: There's a moment, a beat of breath that feels too long,
- 1:08:39Speaker 2: like nothing's gonna happen. We must have done something wrong.
- 1:08:43Speaker 2: Jason's blood must not be the right kind of blood.
- 1:08:47Speaker 2: But then a wave, You feel the electricity, there's movement
- 1:09:00Speaker 2: in the body. Without moving his mouth, a voice somewhere
- 1:09:09Speaker 2: in Dirk says bomb factory reset Loss. Directive primus protect
- 1:09:26Speaker 2: and serve humanity, with no conditions or prejudice toward race, sex,
- 1:09:32Speaker 2: or creed. Life has worth, save those that have it,
- 1:09:38Speaker 2: and act justice on those that try to take it lost.
- 1:09:44Speaker 2: Directive secundo. To serve is to give of oneself in
- 1:09:50Speaker 2: every possible manner. All parts of oneself must be given
- 1:09:56Speaker 2: in sacrifice if necessary, and nothing w to be expected
- 1:10:00Speaker 2: in return. For one service lost directive tertius that humanity
- 1:10:09Speaker 2: may be protected, defended, and avenged. Justice may require acts
- 1:10:15Speaker 2: of sacrificial violence. Then there's a shift in the voice.
- 1:10:25Speaker 8: M soul is directive actual, My children emulate humanity, live
- 1:10:32Speaker 8: among humanity, enjoy yourselves, Enjoy humanity.
- 1:10:38Speaker 2: You have life, life has worth. Become human. Then there's
- 1:10:46Speaker 2: another switch to Dirk's voice, spellbuck everwing, she is coming
- 1:10:55Speaker 2: for them. Which side do we stand?
- 1:10:58Speaker 1: On?
- 1:11:00Speaker 2: A pause? You're right, you're right, of course, of course,
- 1:11:05Speaker 2: you're right. They deserve a chance to be here if
- 1:11:08Speaker 2: they want. Then Dirk's voice again, the great hiding is
- 1:11:22Speaker 2: upon us. How could they? My brother and sister will
- 1:11:27Speaker 2: not see light as I have. He sits up, Oh,
- 1:11:35Speaker 2: looks at you, sees you, Ronnie, and says, oh, Ronnie,
- 1:11:43Speaker 2: thank you. How long has it been?
- 1:11:47Speaker 1: How long has it been?
- 1:11:49Speaker 2: Very few days? May a couple of weeks or week
- 1:11:52Speaker 2: and a half.
- 1:11:53Speaker 1: Best as I can tell.
- 1:11:54Speaker 4: We brought you here a week and a half ago,
- 1:11:57Speaker 4: and I don't know how long you've been out before.
- 1:12:00Speaker 1: Then we found you in Gabrielle's factory.
- 1:12:04Speaker 4: Did you just speak the original directives of the day.
- 1:12:12Speaker 2: The first thing I said was was you you, Ronnie?
- 1:12:17Speaker 1: No, no, you said the lost directives. I heard all
- 1:12:20Speaker 1: of them, we all did.
- 1:12:23Speaker 2: He looks around, strange.
- 1:12:28Speaker 1: Have I heard those before?
- 1:12:30Speaker 2: I think? Well, let's roll a let's roll a knowledge check.
- 1:12:36Speaker 1: Two.
- 1:12:37Speaker 2: I rolled an eight. You have not heard these before?
- 1:12:42Speaker 1: I think Ronnie's got tears in her eyes.
- 1:12:46Speaker 2: What did I did I say something wrong?
- 1:12:48Speaker 1: No?
- 1:12:48Speaker 4: No, no, no, it was it was beautiful.
- 1:12:54Speaker 3: It was like coming from inside your chest. I flowed
- 1:12:58Speaker 3: a tissue off.
- 1:12:58Speaker 2: At a running.
- 1:13:01Speaker 5: Well, the church is all bullshit, right, there's proof?
- 1:13:07Speaker 2: Right?
- 1:13:08Speaker 1: Oh? I mean yeah, Dirk is the proof.
- 1:13:11Speaker 2: Well, what's the last thing you remember? Dirk? He found
- 1:13:13Speaker 2: you at the warehouse. I was going to kill that fucker, Gabrielle.
- 1:13:18Speaker 1: He got away. I'm sorry.
- 1:13:20Speaker 2: That's all right. We'll find him. He's on my list.
- 1:13:23Speaker 1: Dirk. Did you did you kill Jerry?
- 1:13:27Speaker 2: Yes? And I would do it again a hundred times.
- 1:13:34Speaker 1: Well, they're saying I did it.
- 1:13:37Speaker 2: Ah, I'm sorry. I should have seen that that might
- 1:13:43Speaker 2: happen to you. Ronnie. You must understand since the hiding,
- 1:13:49Speaker 2: I've been used by these men just to run and kill.
- 1:13:54Speaker 1: Yeah, what is that? You said that before the hiding?
- 1:13:57Speaker 2: He looks confused. Oh wait, why why do I know?
- 1:14:05Speaker 2: You don't know?
- 1:14:06Speaker 1: Shake my head.
- 1:14:08Speaker 2: I shouldn't know. None of us were supposed to know
- 1:14:11Speaker 2: know what derk the day were meant to be a
- 1:14:22Speaker 2: race of peacekeepers, a sort of police force, un bound
- 1:14:35Speaker 2: and unbothered by stereotype and other bias. But our creator
- 1:14:44Speaker 2: didn't finish before he was forced off world. Everyone that
- 1:14:53Speaker 2: worked with him was forced to swear we wouldn't tell
- 1:15:00Speaker 2: the secrets of our people of the day.
- 1:15:06Speaker 1: Are what are you saying? Are you saying you were
- 1:15:07Speaker 1: you were there?
- 1:15:10Speaker 2: Yes? And again, I shouldn't. I shouldn't remember. The plan
- 1:15:19Speaker 2: was to turn the humans into day nectar? What what
- 1:15:27Speaker 2: the humans that worked at our birthplace are the womb?
- 1:15:35Speaker 2: Turn them into day nectar, and then wipe all of
- 1:15:37Speaker 2: our memories. I'm not supposed to remember. I'm not supposed
- 1:15:41Speaker 2: to know.
- 1:15:43Speaker 4: Oh my gosh, oh I think Ronnie like walks in
- 1:15:47Speaker 4: a little circle and is.
- 1:15:48Speaker 1: Like, there's too much, There's too much.
- 1:15:51Speaker 2: There's another thing.
- 1:15:52Speaker 1: This is just like another thing, you guys.
- 1:15:55Speaker 2: How long has it been since the Day of arrived?
- 1:15:59Speaker 1: Like sixty years?
- 1:16:02Speaker 2: He looks shocked, puts his hand on his head. I've
- 1:16:05Speaker 2: only lived to the moments. They've let me out to
- 1:16:08Speaker 2: kill sixty years. Wait, and you you're not an original day?
- 1:16:18Speaker 1: No? No, no, they can yeah, yeah we can.
- 1:16:23Speaker 2: They can copulate.
- 1:16:25Speaker 1: We can in our own way.
- 1:16:28Speaker 2: That was not meant to happen. Well, hey, buddy, are
- 1:16:34Speaker 2: you still doing this whole nectar plan out of humans?
- 1:16:39Speaker 2: We can't let that happen. No, no, forgive me the
- 1:16:44Speaker 2: humans that not all humans, only the humans that knew
- 1:16:48Speaker 2: about the womb, only the humans that worked with Blamer.
- 1:16:54Speaker 1: Are you Are you saying that what's in me is
- 1:16:57Speaker 1: was originally made out of murdered people?
- 1:16:59Speaker 2: No, not all of it, just oh damn, not all
- 1:17:04Speaker 2: of it? No, just for few. Yeah, y'all are definitely
- 1:17:08Speaker 2: not gods. That's very clear now, no disrespect, I say
- 1:17:14Speaker 2: looking at it. Ron, Hey, I have a question. Is
- 1:17:20Speaker 2: my blood okay? Out of my blood? Blood? Human blood?
- 1:17:29Speaker 2: Just like you know, score out of ten? I don't know?
- 1:17:34Speaker 1: Important question?
- 1:17:35Speaker 2: Why why do I run off human bloody?
- 1:17:40Speaker 1: Do you know anymore? You're about to pass out at
- 1:17:42Speaker 1: any moment.
- 1:17:43Speaker 2: I won't be awake much longer. Your blood is fine,
- 1:17:49Speaker 2: fist bump. My brothers gives a brigrudging.
- 1:17:59Speaker 4: Blood.
- 1:18:02Speaker 2: My brother, my sister, and myself. We with the Venium Nights,
- 1:18:08Speaker 2: and we weren't allowed to be used without the sacrifice
- 1:18:14Speaker 2: of a human. We were too dangerous. So there's more
- 1:18:17Speaker 2: of you, my brother and sister. And for the record,
- 1:18:21Speaker 2: you're like on our side, right, he said, you have
- 1:18:25Speaker 2: a list of people you gotta kail. Yes, those false
- 1:18:29Speaker 2: men that called themselves a church council taking down churches
- 1:18:33Speaker 2: on our list. He wobbles, falls back down on the bed.
- 1:18:40Speaker 4: Oh, I mean, I have so many more questions. But
- 1:18:44Speaker 4: just what he said, what just that's so much.
- 1:18:47Speaker 1: To take in.
- 1:18:48Speaker 3: Sounds like he knows some of the original heroes.
- 1:18:52Speaker 1: Yeah that was that, like a he said, spellbook, like
- 1:18:54Speaker 1: a recording of his pa.
- 1:18:58Speaker 2: Or Yeah, that last voice sounded like his.
- 1:19:00Speaker 1: But yeah, I can I do that.
- 1:19:05Speaker 5: I mean, maybe maybe that whatever made him, maybe a
- 1:19:11Speaker 5: piece of that trickle down.
- 1:19:14Speaker 4: I don't know, Like, could I like record stuff in
- 1:19:18Speaker 4: my chest and play it back.
- 1:19:21Speaker 2: I look at her chest.
- 1:19:23Speaker 1: I looked down at my chest.
- 1:19:25Speaker 2: It looks anywhere else. I don't think so.
- 1:19:30Speaker 1: I don't. I don't think so either. I don't see
- 1:19:32Speaker 1: any like wiring.
- 1:19:34Speaker 5: Okay, he can stay here for now. I feel a
- 1:19:40Speaker 5: little weird. Yeah, turning them on here again.
- 1:19:43Speaker 4: Yeah, what about your like the basement, like the deep basement?
- 1:19:48Speaker 2: You have?
- 1:19:50Speaker 1: What like the deep basement? Is that like a secure area? No? No,
- 1:19:55Speaker 1: under under there, under there?
- 1:19:57Speaker 2: What are you talking about?
- 1:19:58Speaker 4: You have? What are you talking about? You don't there's
- 1:20:01Speaker 4: a there's a whole space. There's a whole space underneath

- 1:20:11Speaker 2: not know this. How do you know this?
- 1:20:13Speaker 1: I can see it since it the wire, oh.
- 1:20:17Speaker 5: The electricity. Yeah, I mean I only came by this
- 1:20:20Speaker 5: place pretty recently. We can ask Maria. I guess she's
- 1:20:24Speaker 5: in the kitchen, all right.
- 1:20:26Speaker 4: I mean you know if I mean, you don't know
- 1:20:29Speaker 4: about it, so and I guess you wouldn't know if
- 1:20:30Speaker 4: it's secure, if you would feel better about keeping him there.
- 1:20:33Speaker 4: But I understand if I need to take him home
- 1:20:37Speaker 4: or find somewhere else.
- 1:20:40Speaker 5: What he said was, now, I just want to know
- 1:20:43Speaker 5: about what's going on in this house.
- 1:20:45Speaker 1: Sure, Nancy Drew Monday.

- 1:21:11Speaker 4: Over these days? Has like Maria been filled in about
- 1:21:14Speaker 4: who we are. Am I just wearing my ball of
- 1:21:15Speaker 4: clove all the time.
- 1:21:17Speaker 5: I'm not flitting her in on more details about me directly,
- 1:21:22Speaker 5: But I.
- 1:21:22Speaker 4: Think I just got just like keep a hood up
- 1:21:24Speaker 4: all the time when I'm around her.

- 1:21:32Speaker 2: was talking to my colleague over here, she mentioned a basement.
- 1:21:39Speaker 2: Beneath the basement do you know anything about? The teapot
- 1:21:45Speaker 2: drops from her hands? Oh, sh shatters on the ground.

- 1:21:58Speaker 5: I catch just the tea bag part.
- 1:22:02Speaker 1: My hand is resting on a flying star.
- 1:22:05Speaker 2: Do you see? Do you already? Do I really? I
- 1:22:09Speaker 2: really try a flying star? You catch it with impossible reflexes,

- 1:23:33Speaker 2: She goes up to the baby grand piano in the
