- 0:05Speaker 1: This is what the Flux I'm brand and I'm justin
- 0:07Speaker 1: and a Monday, the fourth of August does it.
- 0:09Speaker 2: Australia has been spared by the US in the tariff walls,
- 0:13Speaker 2: well kind of, you see. Back in April, Trump whacked
- 0:16Speaker 2: a ten percent reciprocal tariff on all Australian goods exploded
- 0:19Speaker 2: into the US and then said he'll make a decision
- 0:21Speaker 2: whether to increase it in ninety days. Well, ninety days
- 0:24Speaker 2: has coming gone, and Trump has decided to keep Australia's
- 0:27Speaker 2: tariff at ten percent. Okay, And while it's not necessarily
- 0:30Speaker 2: good news to pay this new ten percent tariff, it's
- 0:32Speaker 2: certainly not as bad as India's twenty five percent or
- 0:34Speaker 2: Canada's thirty five percent.
- 0:36Speaker 1: That's really got a hot flam. If you've been promising
- 0:39Speaker 1: yourself that you want to get on top of your spending,
- 0:40Speaker 1: see where your money's going, at the beginning of the
- 0:42Speaker 1: month is the perfect time to do it. And we've
- 0:44Speaker 1: just ticked over into August. The Flux Budgeting TOIL helps
- 0:47Speaker 1: you track all your spending in the one spot. It
- 0:49Speaker 1: categorizes all your expenses. You can see where you're spending,
- 0:52Speaker 1: how much is spending. So if you want to start
- 0:53Speaker 1: tracking your money better so you can save more, make
- 0:55Speaker 1: sure to download the Flux app and check out the
- 0:57Speaker 1: budgeting tool.
- 0:58Speaker 2: Three distinctive stories today juzzy boy, let's do it for
- 1:01Speaker 2: our first. ResMed has beaten full year earnings and its
- 1:05Speaker 2: revenue forecast, thank you to a growth in snores around
- 1:09Speaker 2: the world.
- 1:09Speaker 1: It's like bedtime just got serious. B man financially speaking,
- 1:12Speaker 1: of course, so tell me what okay so.
- 1:14Speaker 2: ResMed was founded back in nineteen eighty nine by scientist
- 1:17Speaker 2: Peter Farrell in Sydney after he acquired a small piece
- 1:20Speaker 2: of sleep apnea tech from the company that he used
- 1:22Speaker 2: to work for and be Man.
- 1:23Speaker 1: Since then, Resmet has grown to make a whole range
- 1:26Speaker 1: of medical gear.
- 1:27Speaker 2: But of course they're most famous for their seapap machines,
- 1:29Speaker 2: which help people with sleep apnea to breathe better at night.
- 1:33Speaker 2: They also make masks, humidifiers, and sleep tracking tools and
- 1:36Speaker 2: jazzy boy. Snores are booming because Resme just released some
- 1:40Speaker 2: smashing results for FY twenty five.
- 1:42Speaker 1: YEP it's net profit jump thirty seven percent to one
- 1:44Speaker 1: point four billion US dollars.
- 1:46Speaker 2: And revenue climb ten percent to five point one bill.
- 1:48Speaker 1: So now they're increasing their share buybacks and lifting their
- 1:51Speaker 1: dividend by thirteen percent.
- 1:52Speaker 2: Fair to say, ResMed investors are snoozing very happily.
- 1:56Speaker 1: Yeah, and while there was fear that weight loss drugs
- 1:58Speaker 1: could kill the demand for seapap machines, ResMed reckon. This
- 2:01Speaker 1: is totally overblow.
- 2:02Speaker 2: And I guess, Juzi boy, the results really speak for themselves.
- 2:05Speaker 1: So what is the key learning here?
- 2:06Speaker 2: Sometimes the threat to your business can end up becoming
- 2:09Speaker 2: a new growth channel.
- 2:10Speaker 1: Yet this be man. Weight loss drugs like Ozenbig. We're
- 2:12Speaker 1: seen as a major risk to RESMD because losing weight
- 2:15Speaker 1: can improve sleep apnea symptoms.
- 2:17Speaker 2: But juzyboy, the opposite actually happened, didn't it.
- 2:19Speaker 1: It did. People started going to their doctors for weight
- 2:21Speaker 1: loss drugs and were being diagnosed with sleep issues.
- 2:24Speaker 2: Crazy, and they were getting prescribed with Resmed's devices too.
- 2:28Speaker 1: So instead of cannibalizing demand, these drugs are actually helping
- 2:31Speaker 1: identify more patients who need treatment.
- 2:33Speaker 2: In fact, research shows that eleven percent of patients on
- 2:36Speaker 2: weight loss drugs also start on treatment for their airways.
- 2:40Speaker 1: Like RESMD seebat machine.
- 2:41Speaker 2: So, Juzi boy, it's a handy reminder that in healthcare,
- 2:44Speaker 2: fixing one thing often uncovers another, and.
- 2:46Speaker 1: For ResMed, the boom in weight loss drugs might actually
- 2:48Speaker 1: be helping them.
- 2:49Speaker 2: For our second story, Figma, the design software has tripled
- 2:53Speaker 2: its market cap on its IPO debut in one of
- 2:56Speaker 2: the biggest first day pops for a US software company ever.
- 2:59Speaker 1: Go you good design software, be man. So what is
- 3:01Speaker 1: going on here? Right?
- 3:02Speaker 2: So? Figma was founded in twenty twelve and became famous
- 3:05Speaker 2: for its cloud based design software.
- 3:06Speaker 1: Which replaced old school file sharing designs.
- 3:09Speaker 2: I'll send you design file version one, you send me
- 3:11Speaker 2: back design file version one point one, and then I'll
- 3:14Speaker 2: send you back version one point two.
- 3:16Speaker 1: None of that with Figma. It's essentially like Google Docs,
- 3:19Speaker 1: but for designers with pantone color obsession and juzzy boy.
- 3:22Speaker 2: Since its launched, Figma has grown to over four million
- 3:24Speaker 2: users worldwide. But now Figma has listed on the NASDAC
- 3:27Speaker 2: late last week and popped to a market cap of
- 3:29Speaker 2: over forty five billion US dollars.
- 3:31Speaker 1: Pop that Adobe, It listed an issue price of thirty
- 3:34Speaker 1: three dollars per share. By the end of day one,
- 3:37Speaker 1: the shares closed at over one hundred and fifteen US
- 3:39Speaker 1: dollars per share.
- 3:40Speaker 2: In other words, more than two hundred and fifty percent
- 3:42Speaker 2: higher than its listing price, and.
- 3:43Speaker 1: That gives it the biggest first day pop for a
- 3:46Speaker 1: US software IPO, raising over a billion dollars in at
- 3:48Speaker 1: least thirty years.
- 3:50Speaker 2: Huge juzzy boy. So what's the key learning here?
- 3:52Speaker 1: Going public isn't just about high It's about managing supply
- 3:55Speaker 1: demand and setting a price based on what investors are
- 3:58Speaker 1: willing to pay.
- 3:58Speaker 2: In Figma's case, the company offered thirty six point nine
- 4:01Speaker 2: million shares to the public at a price of thirty
- 4:03Speaker 2: three bucks per share.
- 4:04Speaker 1: But the demand for the shares at that price was wild.
- 4:07Speaker 2: And the IPO was more than forty times over subscribe
- 4:10Speaker 2: and be man.
- 4:11Speaker 1: With that kind of frenzy, it usually causes a pop
- 4:13Speaker 1: with a share price rockets on the first day of trading,
- 4:15Speaker 1: and you may remember, be Man. A similar thing happened
- 4:17Speaker 1: with Airbnb in twenty twenty. It shares more than doubled
- 4:21Speaker 1: on day one of its listing.
- 4:22Speaker 2: Yes, they listed at sixty eight bucks per share, and
- 4:24Speaker 2: they finished that day at one hundred and forty six
- 4:27Speaker 2: dollars per year.
- 4:28Speaker 1: But now they're actually just below that one hundred and
- 4:30Speaker 1: forty six dollars share price.
- 4:31Speaker 2: So sometimes the day one price is more hype than
- 4:34Speaker 2: long term value.
- 4:35Speaker 1: The real challenge for companies like Figma is proving they're
- 4:38Speaker 1: worth the buzz. For our third and final story, Novo Nordisic,
- 4:42Speaker 1: the company behind Ozembia, has seen its market value slash
- 4:45Speaker 1: by over sixty billion euro after investors worry it's losing
- 4:49Speaker 1: in the obesity drug race. Another twist in the weight
- 4:52Speaker 1: loss was tell me more. Okay, So NVA notice is
- 4:55Speaker 1: the Danish farmer company. It's been kicking around since nineteen
- 4:58Speaker 1: twenty three.
- 4:58Speaker 2: And does it wait? It's fair to st they were
- 5:00Speaker 2: just ticking things over until more recently.
- 5:03Speaker 1: Yep. That's when Nva Nordisk developed a diabetes drug called Ozimpit,
- 5:07Speaker 1: and while it helped people manage type two diabetes, it
- 5:10Speaker 1: also helped people lose bucket loads of weight, and the
- 5:12Speaker 1: growth of the diabetes and weight loss drugs made Nova
- 5:15Speaker 1: Nordic the most valuable company in Europe for a hot
- 5:17Speaker 1: minute last year.
- 5:18Speaker 2: But joseboit late last week, Novo Nordice cut its full
- 5:21Speaker 2: year sales and profit forecasts for the second time this year,
- 5:24Speaker 2: might I add, and investors sped out their green juices.
- 5:27Speaker 2: The share price fell thirty percent in one day, and
- 5:29Speaker 2: why more than sixty billion euro from its value and
- 5:32Speaker 2: what was the reason? Well, weight loss drugs in the
- 5:34Speaker 2: US are growing very quickly. That's good, but Novo Nordisk
- 5:37Speaker 2: growth is slowing quickly as well. So jusei boy, it
- 5:40Speaker 2: seems like the competitive moat held by Novo Nordisk is
- 5:43Speaker 2: no longer moting.
- 5:44Speaker 1: So what is the key learning here?
- 5:45Speaker 2: A competitive moat is a company's ability to maintain its
- 5:48Speaker 2: edge over rivals. For example, it can be built on
- 5:51Speaker 2: being the first mover in a market, or it could
- 5:53Speaker 2: be based on IP like patents, or even the effort
- 5:56Speaker 2: and cost of switching products. Novo Nordice once had a
- 5:59Speaker 2: strong mote with Wegovi and Ozempi.
- 6:01Speaker 1: Yep. They were early, they were effective, and they had
- 6:03Speaker 1: their own IP.
- 6:04Speaker 2: But motes can shrink, especially.
- 6:06Speaker 1: When rivals like Eli Lily rock up with newer drugs
- 6:09Speaker 1: supposedly work better.
- 6:10Speaker 2: In Novo's case, its mote was weakened by two main threats.
- 6:13Speaker 1: Elai Lily roche Astrozenicat. They've all launched very similar products
- 6:17Speaker 1: to compete in the weight loss market.
- 6:18Speaker 2: And secondly, the US market has been flooded with generic
- 6:21Speaker 2: versions of the weight loss drugs that are often significantly cheaper.
- 6:25Speaker 1: In fact, prescription data from July this year showed that
- 6:27Speaker 1: ozempic slipped below fifty percent market share of the weight
- 6:30Speaker 1: loss market for the very first time.
- 6:32Speaker 2: So while Novo was once the poster child of the
- 6:34Speaker 2: weight loss revolution, it's now being bitten in the very race.
- 6:37Speaker 1: It helped us start fluxdam If you look at your
- 6:39Speaker 1: bank account every month and think where did my money
- 6:42Speaker 1: go this month? There is only one solution. It is

- 6:46Speaker 1: how much you spending these different categories, so you may
- 6:48Speaker 1: shure to download the Flux app and check out the
- 6:50Speaker 1: budgeting tool.
