Today we're going to the supermarket — specifically, the checkout. Paying. Luna: Oh, I actually need that. Last time I just stood there smiling. Luna: Was macht das? Lucas: Perfect. The cashier will tell you the price, like 'Fünf Euro.' Then you can say: Ich zahle mit Karte. That's 'I pay by card.' Ich zahle mit Karte. Luna: Ich zahle mit Karte. And if I want to ask if card is okay? Lucas: Great question! You can say: Kann ich mit Karte zahlen? 'Can I pay by card?' Kann ich mit Karte zahlen? Luna: Kann ich mit Karte zahlen? That's good to know. Lucas: After you pay, the cashier might say: Hier ist Ihr Bon. 'Here is your receipt.' Hier ist Ihr Bon. Luna: Hier ist Ihr Bon. And if I don't want the change? Lucas: You can say: Stimmt so. It means 'Keep the change.' Stimmt so. Luna: Stimmt so. That's handy for small amounts. Lucas: Let's run through a quick scene. You're at the checkout. The cashier says the total. Luna: Was macht das? Lucas: Cashier: 'Acht Euro fünfzig.' You want to pay by card. Luna: Ich zahle mit Karte. Lucas: Then cashier hands you the receipt: Hier ist Ihr Bon. Luna: Stimmt so. Lucas: You did it. Now let's repeat those phrases one more time. Was macht das? Luna: Was macht das?
