- 0:00Sean McAllister: Welcome to episode 144 of Vegas Revealed.
- 0:04Sean McAllister: Garth Brooks just announced a new residency at the Coliseum at Caesars Palace.
- 0:09Sean McAllister: It's called Garth Brooks Plus One, but what does that mean?
- 0:13Sean McAllister: We explain coming up.
- 0:14SPEAKER_03: Plus, more big show announcements this week, and Circle Las Vegas announces Winter Swim and the world's largest hot tub party.
- 0:23Sean McAllister: Woo-hoo! Plus a prefix Italian dinner for a great price, and a charity event show that gives you the chance to see dozens of performers from the strip on the stage together for one show only.
- 0:37SPEAKER_03: All that coming up on Vegas Revealed.
- 0:43Sean McAllister: But first, we want to tell you about a new app that is going to change your Las Vegas experience.
- 0:49Sean McAllister: It's called Vegas Near Me.
- 0:51Sean McAllister: It's now officially launched in the App Store on Apple.
- 0:55Sean McAllister: You do need iOS 16 running on your phone in order to use it, so keep that in mind.
- 1:01Sean McAllister: Think of Vegas Near Me as kind of a concierge in your pocket.
- 1:06Sean McAllister: You'll find more than 16,000 Las Vegas businesses and activities there.
- 1:11SPEAKER_03: And instead of reviews, Vegas Near Me has compiled thousands of Las Vegas-related YouTube channels and podcasts like Vegas Revealed so that you can hear about and see real life experiences at the places you're searching.
- 1:24SPEAKER_03: You watch and listen all inside the app.
- 1:26SPEAKER_03: And what I really love is that Vegas Near Me takes pride in the fact that the hours of business listed in the app are correct.
- 1:33SPEAKER_03: There is nothing worse than making a trip somewhere only to find out it's closed.
- 1:38SPEAKER_03: That won't happen with Vegas Near Me.
- 1:40Sean McAllister: Use our Vegas Revealed link that we provided down in our show notes to download Vegas NearMe to your phone right now.
- 1:48Sean McAllister: It's taken six years and a team of more than 40 people around the world to develop Vegas Near Me.
- 1:55Sean McAllister: Download and don't forget to use our link in the show notes.
- 1:59SPEAKER_03: If it's fun to do or see, it's on Vegas Near Me.
- 2:02Sean McAllister: Let's spin that wheel.
- 2:10Sean McAllister: Welcome to episode 144 of Vegas Revealed.
- 2:14Sean McAllister: Sean McAllister here along with Dana Roselli.
- 2:17Sean McAllister: And boy, it is looking quite like the holidays.
- 2:20SPEAKER_03: It is.
- 2:21SPEAKER_03: It's like all of a sudden there's this rush of like everything happening, right?
- 2:24SPEAKER_03: And it's like, whoa, whoa, whoa, slow, slow down.
- 2:27SPEAKER_03: Because we're concentrating on Thanksgiving right now, right?
- 2:31Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 2:32Sean McAllister: But the second, the second that Halloween ended, it was like the holidays threw up all over everything.
- 2:40Sean McAllister: You're right.
- 2:42SPEAKER_03: But I mean, I guess like here, you got to make it last because there's attractions and things that people want to go to and all that.
- 2:47SPEAKER_03: Uh, you and I uh are gonna be going to the Christmas tree lighting at Enchant on the Strip.
- 2:53SPEAKER_03: So that's like this beautiful, like winter wonderland.
- 2:57SPEAKER_03: There's gonna be four million lights, and it's right next to Resorts World this year.
- 3:01Sean McAllister: Yeah, and I drove by there the other day on uh Desert Inn, and I could see down into that lot where they have Enchant set up, and it looks absolutely stunning, which we were expecting it to anyway.
- 3:15Sean McAllister: Uh last week we also mentioned that giant Swarovski Crystal Christmas tree over at the shops at Crystals at Aria and Bad Elf, the pop-up, you know, uh lounge over at the Silverton, which is a lot of fun.
- 3:31SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 3:32SPEAKER_03: And we keep getting invites to other stuff, like uh at different little restaurants and bars on and off the strip.
- 3:38SPEAKER_03: So a lot going on, and we'll get into that at another time.
- 3:41SPEAKER_03: Right now, I said we're concentrating on Thanksgiving.
- 3:44SPEAKER_03: Um, your husband sent out a survey so that everyone that's attending your Thanksgiving dinner knows what sides we need to make and what we like and what our family traditions are.
- 3:53SPEAKER_03: So that was really cute.
- 3:54Sean McAllister: Yeah, well, we don't want a menu full of things that people aren't gonna eat.
- 3:58SPEAKER_03: And it's really hard to pick sides because they're all good.
- 4:00SPEAKER_03: The only thing I didn't vote for was carrots.
- 4:03Sean McAllister: I know.
- 4:03SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 4:04SPEAKER_03: I could do without the carrots.
- 4:05Sean McAllister: I threw that on there uh just as uh another option.
- 4:10Sean McAllister: Right.
- 4:10Sean McAllister: One of our friends voted for carrots, though.
- 4:12Sean McAllister: Oh, really?
- 4:12Sean McAllister: Yeah, we need to talk about that.
- 4:14SPEAKER_03: Oh boy.
- 4:16SPEAKER_03: All right.
- 4:16SPEAKER_03: Well, I can always skip that one.
- 4:18SPEAKER_03: Anyway, um, we hope that you're all planning for a good Thanksgiving in the United States.
- 4:23SPEAKER_03: We know we have listeners all over the world as well, and all of you might be interested to know this one.
- 4:28SPEAKER_03: Garth Brooks announcing a new residency over at the Coliseum at Caesars Palace beginning in 2023.
- 4:36SPEAKER_03: It's gonna be called Garth Brooks Plus One.
- 4:40Sean McAllister: And we've seen Garth Brooks play residencies here in Las Vegas before.
- 4:44Sean McAllister: He had a one-man show over at Win Las Vegas that was wildly successful that was just kind of like Garth on stage in his jeans and hoodie playing some songs for the audience.
- 4:56SPEAKER_03: And loved it.
- 4:57SPEAKER_03: And you and by you and I have both talked about, we've both seen that show.
- 5:00SPEAKER_03: It was fantastic.
- 5:01SPEAKER_03: I think I saw it twice even.
- 5:03Sean McAllister: Yeah, and he had a uh one of the first concerts at I think it was the first concert at Allegiant Stadium uh here in Las Vegas was Garth Brooks.
- 5:12Sean McAllister: He brought his touring show here, but now he's back for another residency.
- 5:16Sean McAllister: This is one of those shows that we kind of knew was coming.
- 5:20Sean McAllister: We knew Garth was gonna be back with a residency, and now it is official over at the Coliseum.
- 5:25SPEAKER_03: I know.
- 5:26SPEAKER_03: And so uh Garth Brooks plus one is the big question because people keep going, well, what's the plus one mean?
- 5:33SPEAKER_03: You know?
- 5:34SPEAKER_03: Um, but he kind of describes it as in many ways, you kind of never know what's gonna happen.
- 5:39SPEAKER_03: Plus one is like he's gonna have musicians that might like pop off stage and go through, you know, the audience.
- 5:45SPEAKER_03: He may have a singer friend or family member come up on stage with him.
- 5:51SPEAKER_03: Um, he plans to do every single show differently so that you can come back two and three times if you like.
- 5:59Sean McAllister: Yeah, and that is the beauty of what Garth Brooks does best.
- 6:04Sean McAllister: He is so good at just having fun with his audiences.
- 6:10Sean McAllister: And even if it's not his music, he'll sing it, he'll play it.
- 6:15SPEAKER_03: He will.
- 6:16SPEAKER_03: It's true, and he even said he's gonna be like having varying band members too.
- 6:21SPEAKER_03: Like it might not be the same band even every night, you know, and he'll take over.
- 6:24SPEAKER_03: But you know what?
- 6:25SPEAKER_03: Let's listen in his words.
- 6:26SPEAKER_03: He recently did a live Facebook for Visit Las Vegas, and a lot of people had the same questions that we did, you know, and why Vegas?
- 6:36SPEAKER_03: You know, you're playing these huge, you know, arenas and stadiums.
- 6:40SPEAKER_03: Why would you want to come to a residence residency in Vegas?
- 6:43SPEAKER_03: And he answers that.
- 6:45SPEAKER_00: Once you get to that level, we've always stayed that level all the way out.
- 6:50SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna like getting to that level and then dropping off the cliff and going right back to just vocal guitar.
- 6:55SPEAKER_00: I think that's gonna be I think it's gonna be something that just makes me excited to begin to play music.
- 7:00SPEAKER_00: Because the truth is, how did we end up in Caesar's Palace?
- 7:03SPEAKER_00: How do we end up in a one-man residency in Vegas?
- 7:06SPEAKER_00: I think that's the only way you get in a stadium tour.
- 7:10SPEAKER_00: We get right down to just you and the artist, right?
- 7:13SPEAKER_00: You guys are the ones that allow the artist to be an artist.
- 7:16SPEAKER_00: So to get that one-on-one time with him, talk about music that you love, and it doesn't even have to be the artist's music, right?
- 7:22SPEAKER_00: We can talk about James Taylor all day long, George Strait all day long.
- 7:26SPEAKER_00: We can talk about Bruno Mars, we can talk about Adele, anything you want to talk about, we're gonna talk about music because that's what this whole thing centers about.
- 7:34Sean McAllister: And who knows, maybe a a Taylor Swift or a Bruno Mars will pop up on stage with with Garth.
- 7:41Sean McAllister: Uh, yeah, it could happen.
- 7:43Sean McAllister: I have a feeling if Garth puts out the the ask and there's an entertainer in town, how do you say no to Garth Brooks?
- 7:50SPEAKER_03: And I know we've talked about this before, but and I'm pulling a nugget out that I should have looked up before we went on.
- 7:56SPEAKER_03: But um I remember when I interviewed him, like whenever he did the win show, uh, he told me, or maybe when I was doing my research, he has more number ones than Elvis Presley.
- 8:10SPEAKER_03: Wow.
- 8:12SPEAKER_03: Because he's still alive, if that makes sense, you know, because he's had a longer period of time.
- 8:18SPEAKER_03: But at the time it was like he had more hits, more number ones.
- 8:25Sean McAllister: He has scored nine number one albums on the Billboard 200 charts.
- 8:30Sean McAllister: Okay, maybe it was albums, and he has achieved 19 number one hits on the hot country songs.
- 8:37SPEAKER_03: Okay, interesting.
- 8:39Sean McAllister: Nine of his albums have achieved diamond status in the United States, the most for any artist ever.
- 8:47SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 8:48SPEAKER_03: Okay, so there you have it.
- 8:50SPEAKER_03: See, you're quick, Sean.
- 8:51SPEAKER_03: I like this is live.
- 8:52SPEAKER_03: We're not even editing this.
- 8:53SPEAKER_03: Is Sean getting his thumbs going on his phone?
- 8:56SPEAKER_03: Okay, I knew there was something, but I I remember like reading that and and taking it in and going, wow, I mean, Garth Brooks is huge.
- 9:03SPEAKER_03: I mean, and then you think about all the hits that he has and how much people love him, and so it's gonna be a fantastic show.
- 9:11SPEAKER_03: The shows are May, June, July, November, and December.
- 9:17SPEAKER_03: And there's a bunch of dates in in there.
- 9:20SPEAKER_03: So it's not just one or two shows.
- 9:22SPEAKER_03: In those months, there's a bunch of dates, but they're doing the verified fan ticket link, right?
- 9:29Sean McAllister: Yeah, which we have seen Adele do this before.
- 9:32Sean McAllister: We've seen several uh Taylor Swift for her uh you know, brand new tour that was just announced.
- 9:39Sean McAllister: She's doing the verified fan purchasing.
- 9:42Sean McAllister: It's basically you go on and register with Ticketmaster to let them know that you are an actual person, you're not a robot, you're not a ticket broker trying to scoop up a bunch of tickets.
- 9:55Sean McAllister: You go on there, register, and if you make it into the pool, there's been so much demand for these shows, though, that a lot of people who register to be a verified fan don't even get in that pool of folks to get tickets.
- 10:10SPEAKER_03: We're seeing that today on Twitter with Taylor Swift coming to Allegiant Stadium and doing her tour.
- 10:15SPEAKER_03: We're seeing it's all backed up.
- 10:16SPEAKER_03: They had to push the time, they've never seen so much demand.
- 10:19SPEAKER_03: So, I mean, even with that, you know, it's still hard.
- 10:22SPEAKER_03: But here's one that uh not doing it that way, and you're looking really forward to this.
- 10:27SPEAKER_03: I know that you've got your alarm set on your phone and you are ready for Pink and her summer carnival 2023 tour coming to Allegiant Stadium on Saturday, October 7th.
- 10:39Sean McAllister: Yes.
- 10:39SPEAKER_03: I better put that in my phone to say we can't take a job on that day.
- 10:43Sean McAllister: No, not at all.
- 10:44Sean McAllister: Listen, Pink is one of the best live performers I have ever seen.
- 10:49Sean McAllister: First of all, she sounds amazing.
- 10:52Sean McAllister: Her live singing voice is just as amazing as it is uh on her albums.
- 10:57Sean McAllister: Plus, she's being like flung around from like all over arenas.
- 11:02Sean McAllister: She's in the harness, just getting tossed around everywhere.
- 11:07Sean McAllister: And she's still singing live.
- 11:09Sean McAllister: She's still she is just great.
- 11:12Sean McAllister: And I love, you know, when her whole band is playing, but a lot of times she'll also do some really stripped down kind of songs.
- 11:21Sean McAllister: She'll kick off her shoes, come out barefoot, sit on the side of the stage with her guitar player, and just sing some the unplugged versions of her hits.
- 11:32Sean McAllister: And she's phenomenal.
- 11:35Sean McAllister: By the way, uh, I believe it's uh this weekend, the American Music Awards, Pink is going to be performing uh uh her new single.
- 11:44Sean McAllister: In addition to that, she'll be doing a tribute to Olivia Newton John.
- 11:49Sean McAllister: Oh wow, that'll be good.
- 11:50Sean McAllister: So that should that I'm looking forward to that as well.
- 11:53Sean McAllister: But yeah, Pink is gonna be here October 7th, uh, along with special guest Brandy Carlisle, who has you know a huge following.
- 12:04Sean McAllister: Uh Group Love and Kid Cut Up will also be performing.
- 12:09SPEAKER_03: Wow, yeah.
- 12:09SPEAKER_03: I mean, it's gonna be a great show.
- 12:11SPEAKER_03: I know people have said for years and years she needs a Vegas residency, and I think that'll happen one day.
- 12:16SPEAKER_03: She's not ready.
- 12:17SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 12:18Sean McAllister: I hope so.
- 12:18SPEAKER_03: She's doing her tours, and I've actually never oh no, uh, take that back.
- 12:22SPEAKER_03: I've never seen her uh a show a show of hers live, but I saw her um perform on, and I think we've talked about this before, maybe, that when Ellen came to do her show at the Coliseum, I was working for CBS at the time and went to that, and Pink was the singer on the show.
- 12:38SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 12:38SPEAKER_03: So I saw her sing a song, but I've never seen a full concert or show.
- 12:43SPEAKER_03: It's something that I might need to go to as well because I do love Pink.
- 12:47SPEAKER_03: I just I don't know.
- 12:47SPEAKER_03: I guess I have never been.
- 12:49Sean McAllister: Yeah, it's so good.
- 12:50Sean McAllister: So right now, um, there are uh pre-sale tickets going on.
- 12:56Sean McAllister: If you're a like a city card member and if you have Verizon phone service, you are able to get some pre-sale tickets.
- 13:07Sean McAllister: And then uh Monday, the 21st, is the general on sale for pink tickets.
- 13:14SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 13:14SPEAKER_03: Well, don't tell everyone because then you're not you want to get in line.
- 13:16SPEAKER_03: Oh shit.
- 13:17SPEAKER_03: Forget I said anything.
- 13:20SPEAKER_03: I love it.
- 13:21SPEAKER_03: All right, well, Sean will be up getting his tickets.
- 13:23SPEAKER_03: We'll let you know what happens, what, where his seat is, how much he paid, all that kind of good stuff.
- 13:28SPEAKER_03: Uh coming up in the next podcast.
- 13:31SPEAKER_03: Here's an interesting uh person to talk about, and that's boy George.
- 13:36SPEAKER_03: All right.
- 13:37SPEAKER_03: He came and did shows at the win, a slew of them.
- 13:40SPEAKER_03: Um, or actually, I think it was just maybe like two weekends or maybe two days or two or three shows.
- 13:45SPEAKER_03: I think it was over the summer.
- 13:46SPEAKER_03: Um, did really well.
- 13:48SPEAKER_03: People loved it.
- 13:48SPEAKER_03: I heard people talking about it, and uh, he's coming back, and he's got a lot going on right now.
- 13:54SPEAKER_03: So we thought we'd like hit some of the things that that's going on with Boy George.
- 13:58SPEAKER_03: First of all, um, he's playing at the win February 15th, 18th, and 19th.
- 14:03SPEAKER_03: So he'll be back.
- 14:04SPEAKER_03: Tickets go on sale.
- 14:06SPEAKER_03: Uh they're they're already on sale.
- 14:07SPEAKER_03: They went on sale Friday at 10 a.m.
- 14:09SPEAKER_03: If you want to see Boy George and the Culture Club.
- 14:12SPEAKER_03: So he's got members from Culture Club and a 13-piece band.
- 14:16SPEAKER_03: But he's on this show right now.
- 14:17SPEAKER_03: Um, we have a lot of UK listeners that watch this show called I'm a Celebrity, get me out of here.
- 14:24Sean McAllister: And we just pulled this up and we were watching some some clips on YouTube.
- 14:29Sean McAllister: And I had never seen the show before or heard of it.
- 14:33Sean McAllister: And it's kind of like a uh if celebrities were out playing Survivor, right?
- 14:38Sean McAllister: They're kind of out, they're they're not roughing it quite as much as what we see on Survivor here in the States, but it's not necessarily the most comfortable surroundings that they're in.
- 14:51SPEAKER_03: No, it doesn't look, and I don't know, like it might get worse as like the the weeks go on, I'm not sure.
- 14:56SPEAKER_03: But I thought, wow, Boy George is in the jungle.
- 14:59SPEAKER_03: I know.
- 15:00SPEAKER_03: Like, because everyone's like, well, he was the clip we watched, he was still wearing his hat.
- 15:03SPEAKER_03: But I think I did see someone comment, like, I've never seen Boy George without a hat, and he apparently wasn't wearing a hat and what, but I thought, wow, stripping down because he loves his glam and his outfits and even his makeup and all that kind of thing.
- 15:15SPEAKER_03: Yeah, his fancy eyes he's got going, you know, he's been known for that.
- 15:19SPEAKER_03: So it's been interesting to see um a stripped down boy George, a lot of people have been saying.
- 15:24SPEAKER_03: So he's on this show right now, and you know, his name's out there.
- 15:29SPEAKER_03: Uh, we'll see how he does and when he needs to get out of there.
- 15:32SPEAKER_03: I don't know if they decide or how that works, but anyway.
- 15:35SPEAKER_03: But we have uh another interesting tidbit, and that's our friend Stacy Galani, who does a lot of different reporting around Las Vegas, but really, you know, in the entertainment world all over.
- 15:49SPEAKER_03: Um, she was on Inside Edition, wasn't she, at one point?
- 15:51SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 15:52SPEAKER_03: Stacey.
- 15:52SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 15:52SPEAKER_03: Yep.
- 15:53SPEAKER_03: And she does stuff for entertainment tonight.
- 15:55SPEAKER_03: Uh, she lives here in Las Vegas.
- 15:56SPEAKER_03: She's been working on a behind the music piece on Boy George.
- 16:01SPEAKER_03: And I saw her post the other day that it's coming out on November 29th on MTV in Paramount Plus.
- 16:08Sean McAllister: Yeah, I know that the the whole crew traveled over to the UK and you know had many different, you know, sit-down interviews and you know, really did a lot of work to capture what it is like for boy George when he's doing all the all of his recording and you know, the great stories behind some of the hit music.
- 16:32Sean McAllister: So that's gonna be really interesting to see.
- 16:34SPEAKER_03: I think it will be.
- 16:35SPEAKER_03: And I know at one point she was asking me um for a connection somewhere, and it sounds like they're really going into, you know, and I think we just watched a clip, but him starting back in 1982, and what his music and what Culture Club as a band, you know, did for music at that time and and set the tone for that kind of music, or you know, even him being member, it was all, you know, is boy George gay, you know, gay?
- 17:00SPEAKER_03: When is boy George gonna come out?
- 17:02SPEAKER_03: And it was all this, just I mean, it was a a change and a shift.
- 17:06SPEAKER_03: And he really, I feel like, you know, made waves and made strides for a lot of people.
- 17:13Sean McAllister: Oh, absolutely.
- 17:14Sean McAllister: And that was kind of at the height of the like the 80s punk rock scene.
- 17:18Sean McAllister: Yes, you know, and Culture Club definitely did put a different twist on that and brought in a different vibe to the punk scene.
- 17:27Sean McAllister: And, you know, as you mentioned, brought up a whole bunch of other conversations, social conversations as well.
- 17:34SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 17:35SPEAKER_03: It's it'll be interesting.
- 17:36SPEAKER_03: And I know Stacy went backstage when he was here at the win last time and did some stuff with him too.
- 17:40SPEAKER_03: So um, it's gonna be great.
- 17:42SPEAKER_03: Uh, if you get a chance, November 29th.
- 17:44SPEAKER_03: Stacy said she's gonna have a watch party and you and I will be invited.
- 17:47Sean McAllister: Oh, good.
- 17:48Sean McAllister: Yeah, oh good.
- 17:49Sean McAllister: And and again, if you want to see Boy George over at the Win, Boy George in the Culture Club, um, that's February 15th, 18th, and 19th uh in the new year.
- 18:00SPEAKER_03: Great.
- 18:01SPEAKER_03: Hey, when I came to your door today, I brought you in something that was sitting on your stoop.
- 18:06Sean McAllister: You did?
- 18:06Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 18:07SPEAKER_03: And what was it?
- 18:08Sean McAllister: It's a wonderful package that was dropped off from Circa Resort and Casino.
- 18:15Sean McAllister: And even though the weather has cooled down a bit, I would say we are officially out of pool season.
- 18:22SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 18:22Sean McAllister: Uh, that is not the case over at Circa.
- 18:25Sean McAllister: They are keeping pool season going all winter long up at Stadium Swim, where they have multiple pools.
- 18:33Sean McAllister: They are heating those babies up.
- 18:35SPEAKER_03: I know.
- 18:35SPEAKER_03: And it was so nice of them to send us hot tub robes.
- 18:40SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 18:41SPEAKER_03: For the winter swim.
- 18:42SPEAKER_03: Isn't that cool?
- 18:44SPEAKER_03: I love my robe.
- 18:45SPEAKER_03: I've already worn it.
- 18:53SPEAKER_03: I know.
- 18:53SPEAKER_03: We've told you before that Derek said he's keeping that pool open all year long and he's gonna heat it and he's gonna cool it and all that while they're getting ready for winter swim.
- 19:01SPEAKER_03: So they have a bunch of events coming up um kind of surrounding this.
- 19:06SPEAKER_03: Um, they are going to do one, a football watch party on December 3rd, and then they're gonna be doing a totally tubular 80s heat hot tub party on January 6th, and then an inaugural winter swim bikini contest offering$10,000 in prizes on February 4th.
- 19:29SPEAKER_03: So they got a lot of big events coming up, but also just really launching the new winter swim programming.
- 19:36SPEAKER_03: And I mean, it sounds like fun, and it's just it's really completely different from any other property.
- 19:42Sean McAllister: It it is, and I think it's so fun that they are creating events around their heated pools and and turning them into a destination because let me tell you, Stadium Swim has been absolutely jam-packed all summer long.
- 19:59Sean McAllister: Yeah, and anytime there's a game on on Sundays, they're full.
- 20:04Sean McAllister: Everybody goes up there to watch games.
- 20:07Sean McAllister: So that is a great spot that that Derek Stevens has created in downtown Las Vegas.
- 20:12Sean McAllister: And, you know, it's it's something that we haven't seen here before.
- 20:16SPEAKER_03: No, and they're calling it the world's largest hot tub party.
- 20:19SPEAKER_03: I mean, it is big, it is a big hot tub, right?
- 20:22SPEAKER_03: You heat that baby up, it's pretty big.
- 20:24Sean McAllister: It's very big, yeah.
- 20:27SPEAKER_03: All right.
- 20:27SPEAKER_03: Well, moving on to the uh Backstreet Boys, a little news came out this week.
- 20:31SPEAKER_03: We like to keep people informed because whenever we mention Nick Carter or talk about Nick Carter and the Backstreet Boys on this podcast, the numbers go through the roof.
- 20:38SPEAKER_03: Uh, and you saw an update and it kind of caught your eye.
- 20:42SPEAKER_03: And it was in Retropop magazine, right?
- 20:46SPEAKER_03: And they said that they're thinking or they're never writing off uh the fact that they would return with a Las Vegas residency.
- 20:53Sean McAllister: Yeah, uh in it was actually Retropop was citing another article um in the The Sun.
- 21:01Sean McAllister: Okay.
- 21:02Sean McAllister: Uh with AJ McLean and Brian Latrell, who said that you know what?
- 21:08Sean McAllister: They love Las Vegas and they want to come back.
- 21:11Sean McAllister: So Backstreet Boys are out on their world tour right now, um, you know, playing dates that had been postponed a while because of pandemic and everything.
- 21:20Sean McAllister: So they're they're making good on all their tour dates.
- 21:23Sean McAllister: But AJ said that he moved his mom to Las Vegas while they were doing their last residency over at Zappo's Theater at Planet Hollywood, and absolutely loves it here.
- 21:36Sean McAllister: I know all those guys really did enjoy having a show where it was kind of like doing an office job.
- 21:46Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 21:46Sean McAllister: You know, because they could go live their lives in in Vegas, you know, do whatever they needed to do, and then just show up to do their show at night.
- 21:56Sean McAllister: And it was I s I believe that Backstreet Boys show.
- 22:00Sean McAllister: At Planet Hollywood was the best selling show that they've ever had there.
- 22:06SPEAKER_03: Interesting.
- 22:07SPEAKER_03: Interesting.
- 22:07Sean McAllister: Even the they had the balcony opened up for tickets, which is rarely used for shows.
- 22:13Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 22:14Sean McAllister: More than Britney Backstreet Boys.
- 22:16Sean McAllister: Interesting.
- 22:16Sean McAllister: Man, they sold that place out.
- 22:18Sean McAllister: I loved that show.
- 22:20Sean McAllister: It was so much fun.
- 22:21Sean McAllister: It was good.
- 22:22Sean McAllister: So much fun.
- 22:22SPEAKER_03: And yeah, they didn't have like a ton of overhead either.
- 22:25SPEAKER_03: They didn't need it.
- 22:25Sean McAllister: No.
- 22:26SPEAKER_03: Like there wasn't like, you know what I mean?
- 22:28SPEAKER_03: Like tons of production in that show.
- 22:30SPEAKER_03: I mean, they changed their outfits a lot, which is great.
- 22:32SPEAKER_03: You know, came out in different, like, you know, right, you know, Backstreet Boysy outfits, you know, they were in all white and then the jackets and that kind of thing.
- 22:40SPEAKER_03: And it was fun.
- 22:41SPEAKER_03: So it kept it, you know, moving and things changed, but there wasn't like an insane amount of production that was like crazy.
- 22:47Sean McAllister: Right.
- 22:47Sean McAllister: So I loved it.
- 22:49Sean McAllister: I mean, it makes sense for him.
- 22:50Sean McAllister: So yeah, in this new article, it's AJ McClain, Brian Latrell saying that they want to come back.
- 22:55Sean McAllister: Of course, Nick and his family live here in Las Vegas now.
- 22:59Sean McAllister: That's home base.
- 23:00Sean McAllister: So super convenient for him.
- 23:04Sean McAllister: For sure.
- 23:04SPEAKER_03: And well, and it and when you were talking about, you know, having a residency and it and being able to just go to work and then go home.
- 23:11SPEAKER_03: I was just thinking, you know, like you mentioned, they are on the road.
- 23:14SPEAKER_03: You know, um, Nick Carter's brother, Aaron Carter, just passed away.
- 23:18SPEAKER_03: And I was thinking, um, gosh, what a difficult time to be on the road.
- 23:23SPEAKER_03: Like you just want to be home, you know, mourning your brother, being with your family.
- 23:29SPEAKER_03: And yet he was back out there putting on singing at shows, you know, overseas.
- 23:36SPEAKER_03: And I thought, wow, you know, or you're in a hotel room.
- 23:40SPEAKER_03: Or you know what I'm saying?
- 23:41SPEAKER_03: Like you're not in the comforts of your own home when this like massive, horrible thing just happened to your family.
- 23:46SPEAKER_03: So, anyway, um, also just another reason that I think a lot of these people that come here, they just want to kind of have a bit of a life and still be able to go to work without having to travel far.
- 23:58SPEAKER_03: There's things that happen in your life that sometimes you just you just want to be home.
- 24:01Sean McAllister: Yeah, exactly.
- 24:02Sean McAllister: And on top of it, Vegas is a place that's easy to get in and out of.
- 24:06SPEAKER_03: It is.
- 24:07Sean McAllister: If you need to go do some work in LA during the day, it's a 40-minute flight out there in the morning.
- 24:12Sean McAllister: Do your work, fly back here and do your show at night.
- 24:15SPEAKER_03: Exactly.
- 24:16SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 24:17SPEAKER_03: And some people live in Palm Springs.
- 24:19SPEAKER_03: Doesn't Barry Manilow fly in from Palm Springs?
- 24:21SPEAKER_03: Does he still do that?
- 24:22SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 24:23SPEAKER_03: I've still I always wanted to see Barry like arrive at the airport in his little private jet.
- 24:27SPEAKER_03: I've never done that.
- 24:29Sean McAllister: We'll have to stake him out.
- 24:30SPEAKER_03: Stake him out.
- 24:32SPEAKER_03: All right.
- 24:32SPEAKER_03: Well, we went to brunch by an angel and we did an interview last week all about this, but just a quick recap.
- 24:38SPEAKER_03: Um, we wanted to mention they do have more shows in December and January.
- 24:42SPEAKER_03: This is over at the Palms, and it's uh Saturdays and Sundays, two shows each, three psychic mediums, brunch, live music, bottomless mimosas.
- 24:53SPEAKER_03: We went, we had a we had a great time, and um just it was really unique, something that you and I were saying we have never seen done before in Vegas.
- 25:03SPEAKER_03: We've seen shows with mediums, right?
- 25:05SPEAKER_03: But not where it's like brunch and you know, in the afternoon and just kind of a different vibe.
- 25:10Sean McAllister: Yeah, and it's uh, you know, it's a very kind of intimate setting for being in chaos, which uh, you know, was the nightclub venue over at Palms.
- 25:20Sean McAllister: Um, they can on the dance floor, they kind of put you know round tables out there, so you know, it's much more conducive for brunch.
- 25:29Sean McAllister: Yeah um, and the mediums make their way around the room, so it is, you know, a very intimate feel during the show.
- 25:36SPEAKER_03: Yeah, and we were talking to them after, and they're saying, you know, we're we're working on tweaking things and making each, you know, each time better, but they they are enjoying doing it.
- 25:44SPEAKER_03: Um, you know, they really, gosh, I mean, there were some points there where it was pretty emotional.
- 25:49Sean McAllister: Yeah, it was.
- 25:50SPEAKER_03: And um the food was fantastic.
- 25:53SPEAKER_03: You and I were talking about that too.
- 25:55SPEAKER_03: It was really good.
- 25:55Sean McAllister: Those waffles, I could, I could go back and have five more.
- 25:59Sean McAllister: And I'm not usually a waffle or pancake person either.
- 26:02SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 26:03SPEAKER_03: I know I'm not a French toast person, and those French toast sticks were really good.
- 26:08Sean McAllister: They were, and the bacon was great too.
- 26:09SPEAKER_03: Yeah, but we were you never know.
- 26:10SPEAKER_03: Sometimes when you go to these types of things when you know you're paying for food and a show, sometimes you're like, eh, the food was okay.
- 26:18SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 26:18SPEAKER_03: No, the food was great.
- 26:20SPEAKER_03: It was, it was really, really good.
- 26:22SPEAKER_03: And um, we we had a great time.
- 26:24SPEAKER_03: It's something different.
- 26:25SPEAKER_03: If you want to experience it, tickets are on sale.
- 26:28SPEAKER_03: Go to the the Palms website and you'll be able to get some.
- 26:32SPEAKER_03: But um, we will keep you updated because we think once they even do these two weekends that they'll probably extend.
- 26:39SPEAKER_03: So we aren't sure, but we'll keep you posted.
- 26:42SPEAKER_03: Let's get to some tips.
- 26:48Sean McAllister: Dana, to start things off, you went out to dinner the other night, and uh when you told me about your experience, uh my jaw hit the floor because you found one hell of a deal.
- 27:00SPEAKER_03: Yeah, we like to tell people about places off the strip too, because even though, first of all, we have locals that listen and we also have people that visit Las Vegas and actually write us and say, tell us about the local spots.
- 27:11SPEAKER_03: You know, we want to know about where's good to maybe get a good meal.
- 27:14SPEAKER_03: So um I went down actually to an area that I don't usually visit much anymore.
- 27:19SPEAKER_03: I used to live down there, but it's on Blue Diamond.
- 27:22SPEAKER_03: Um, so it's to the southwest of Las Vegas, and it's called Locale Italian Kitchen.
- 27:29SPEAKER_03: And I hadn't been before, but let me tell you, we went at like 5:30 p.m.
- 27:33SPEAKER_03: and it it was busy.
- 27:35SPEAKER_03: Um, but they have a fall prefix menu that I wanted to try.
- 27:39Sean McAllister: Okay.
- 27:39SPEAKER_03: So I went in and thinking, you know, the prefix is always, you know, a certain amount of courses, all that kind of thing, and usually it's like three, but no, this deal I have to share.
- 27:48SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 27:49SPEAKER_03: 80 bucks, Sean.
- 27:50Sean McAllister: Yep.
- 27:51SPEAKER_03: Four courses, appetizer, main course, a side, and a dessert.
- 27:59Sean McAllister: Wow.
- 28:00SPEAKER_03: And a wine pairing with the appetizer and the main course.
- 28:05Sean McAllister: The wine pairing is included.
- 28:07SPEAKER_03: It's included.
- 28:08Sean McAllister: What?
- 28:09SPEAKER_03: I know.
- 28:11SPEAKER_03: So it's included.
- 28:13SPEAKER_03: Wow.
- 28:14SPEAKER_03: So it was I was like, no way.
- 28:17SPEAKER_03: And you know, I didn't pay attention, which I should have, to the dessert because I actually passed on dessert because I was trying to watch my calories and I was stuffed.
- 28:24SPEAKER_03: Um, but there might even have been a pairing with the dessert.
- 28:28SPEAKER_03: I'm not sure on that.
- 28:29SPEAKER_03: But regardless, at least two wine pairs.
- 28:31SPEAKER_03: Oh my gosh.
- 28:32SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 28:32SPEAKER_03: So 80 bucks.
- 28:33SPEAKER_03: And I'm talking, this was not like small portions.
- 28:36SPEAKER_03: Like I got a Caesar salad, pretty big, and then the salmon, which was incredible.
- 28:43SPEAKER_03: Again, I said normally I would have gone for the pasta and stuff.
- 28:46SPEAKER_03: I was trying to be a little good.
- 28:47SPEAKER_03: Um, it was delicious with capers and uh to the outside was like uh really crispy.
- 28:54SPEAKER_03: It was so delicious.
- 28:56SPEAKER_03: And then you could pick aside.
- 28:57SPEAKER_03: We got Brussels sprouts, which were delicious, and mushrooms.
- 29:03SPEAKER_03: Um, and then uh dessert.
- 29:06SPEAKER_03: You had a choice of one or two things.
- 29:07SPEAKER_03: I think it was a cheesecake and a terramisu.
- 29:09SPEAKER_03: Oh, and then wine pairing for$80.
- 29:13Sean McAllister: That's I mean, that's really good.
- 29:15SPEAKER_03: Really good, right?
- 29:16SPEAKER_03: Because usually it's three courses, I feel like.
- 29:18Sean McAllister: It's usually two courses, and you have to do an add-on for the wine pairing, yeah.
- 29:24Sean McAllister: Which is usually another like 35, 40 bucks easy.
- 29:27SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 29:28SPEAKER_03: So it was it was fantastic.
- 29:30SPEAKER_03: The portions were not small, the the food was delicious.
- 29:33SPEAKER_03: Um, my friend got Denise, she got a beet salad, which she said was really good.
- 29:38SPEAKER_03: Oh, we tried the meatball, which was amazing.
- 29:40SPEAKER_03: It was very good.
- 29:42SPEAKER_03: Um, everything was great, and what a cute little place.
- 29:45SPEAKER_03: It's not too big, it's not too small, the staff was great.
- 29:49SPEAKER_03: Um, if you get a chance, locale Italian kitchen, they're doing a great job down there.
- 29:54SPEAKER_03: And I feel like, you know what?
- 29:56SPEAKER_03: Go check out the fall prefix menu.
- 29:57SPEAKER_03: Why not?
- 29:58Sean McAllister: And you posted uh some video from dinner on uh Instagram and it looked phenomenal.
- 30:04SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 30:04SPEAKER_03: So if you want to go take a peek and you'll see on there the menu, I put the menu up too.
- 30:09SPEAKER_03: So you can take a look if you want to check that out before you head it.
- 30:12SPEAKER_03: And sorry, Vegas revealed Instagram.
- 30:14Sean McAllister: Perfect.
- 30:14Sean McAllister: Uh, my tip for the week is uh on the entertainment front.
- 30:18Sean McAllister: So obviously, we know that there are so many world-class performers here in Las Vegas, and uh for one show, one show only, one time a year, people from all of these different shows, dancers, singers, acrobats, magicians all come together on one stage over at the Tropicana for Golden Rainbow's Ribbon of Life.
- 30:48Sean McAllister: This year it is a Christmas spectacular.
- 30:53SPEAKER_02: Ooh, fun.
- 30:54Sean McAllister: It's normally uh held in the summertime, but this year it was shifted and so now it's a Christmas theme.
- 31:03Sean McAllister: And I think depending on how uh how things go, and I think it's gonna go very well, it may end up becoming a Christmas tradition from now on.
- 31:12Sean McAllister: Uh I'm uh honored to be uh hosting the show once again, along with uh Edie, who you may remember as the mistress of sensuality from the Cirque des Olay show Zumanity.
- 31:26Sean McAllister: Yeah, that used to be over at New York, New York.
- 31:28Sean McAllister: Edie has been traveling all over the country with with her one woman show and um based here in Las Vegas.
- 31:36Sean McAllister: Hilarious.
- 31:37SPEAKER_03: Yeah, everything.
- 31:38Sean McAllister: So funny.
- 31:39SPEAKER_03: So nice, yeah.
- 31:40Sean McAllister: It's gonna be uh phenomenal.
- 31:42Sean McAllister: It'll be a great show.
- 31:44Sean McAllister: It's on December 4th at the Tropicana Theater.
- 31:48Sean McAllister: Um, that's a big theater.
- 31:50Sean McAllister: It's a big theater.
- 31:50SPEAKER_03: You're gonna be up on stage working the crowd.
- 31:52Sean McAllister: I know.
- 31:53Sean McAllister: It's fun.
- 31:54Sean McAllister: We've had the show there uh for several years, and it really is fun uh being up on stage and having the whole theater full of people.
- 32:02SPEAKER_03: And you've been MCing that for a long time, right?
- 32:05Sean McAllister: Oh gosh, for six, seven years, yeah.
- 32:07SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 32:08SPEAKER_03: And last year, was it last year or the year before?
- 32:10SPEAKER_03: They had to skip it.
- 32:11SPEAKER_03: Was it just 2020?
- 32:13SPEAKER_03: Okay, yeah, right.
- 32:15SPEAKER_03: So it's back, better than ever, and we need to get our tickets.
- 32:19SPEAKER_03: First of all, I need to buy my ticket because I will definitely be there supporting and be in the audience.
- 32:24SPEAKER_03: But tell us a little bit um more for people who it's it's a like bunch of performers, right?
- 32:30SPEAKER_03: Like from all different shows that come together and what come up with a number themselves.
- 32:35Sean McAllister: Yeah, they put together call it a number.
- 32:37SPEAKER_03: That's like so old school.
- 32:39Sean McAllister: Five, six, six, seven, eight.
- 32:42Sean McAllister: Yeah, so you know, it's a close-knit entertainment community here.
- 32:46Sean McAllister: So people in in one show, let's say it's a Cirque du Soleil show, know performers from other shows on the Las Vegas strip and they're friends.
- 32:55Sean McAllister: There's you know, a circle of entertainment friends, and so people get together, they uh put a number together and audition to be a part of the show because you know the producers want to make sure they're not gonna have uh 12 dance routines.
- 33:12Sean McAllister: Okay, got it, right?
- 33:13Sean McAllister: You know, they need to make sure it's a variety of of uh you know different kinds of uh acts, and it always is, and it's always phenomenal.
- 33:21Sean McAllister: But uh a little backstory.
- 33:23Sean McAllister: So Golden Rainbow is an organization that helps people who are impacted by HIV and AIDS.
- 33:30Sean McAllister: And back in the 80s, when the Las Vegas entertainment community was completely uh just decimated by uh by AIDS and HIV, fellow entertainers started uh to do the ribbon of life uh production as a fundraiser to help out their uh their colleagues and to give them to help with uh bills and to help with rent and to help with medications.
- 33:59Sean McAllister: And so this is something that has continued on ever since then.
- 34:04Sean McAllister: So there was a long tradition of entertainers helping other entertainers, and you know, that's now stretched out to entertainers helping the entire Las Vegas community.
- 34:15SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 34:15SPEAKER_03: I love that.
- 34:16SPEAKER_03: I love that.
- 34:16SPEAKER_03: It's such a it's such a good thing.
- 34:18SPEAKER_03: And does it stay here or does it go to the bulk?
- 34:22Sean McAllister: No, it everything that's raised at uh the ribbon of life stays here in Las Vegas.
- 34:28Sean McAllister: I love that.
- 34:29SPEAKER_03: Okay, perfect.
- 34:30SPEAKER_03: Even more reason to go.
- 34:30SPEAKER_03: And you get like it's entertaining, you know?
- 34:33Sean McAllister: It's such a good show.
- 34:34SPEAKER_03: And it's a Sunday, right?
- 34:36SPEAKER_03: So it's like nice and you know, just usually Sunday afternoon, you don't have much going on, but you know, get out, support a good cause, be entertained.
- 34:45SPEAKER_03: It's not, it's not interfering with your Saturday night event or dinner or you know, date night or anything like that.
- 34:51SPEAKER_03: So I love that.
- 34:53SPEAKER_03: Okay, Tropicana Theater, uh, right at the Legends in Concert Theater, and it's 1 p.m.
- 34:59SPEAKER_03: December 4th.
- 35:00SPEAKER_03: Let's all go support Golden Rainbow and The Ribbon of Life and support Sean McAllister, the co-host of the Vegas Revealed Podcast.
- 35:09Sean McAllister: And it will have a lot of fun.
- 35:11Sean McAllister: I promise you that.
- 35:12Sean McAllister: Uh, we have a link down in our show notes direct to the ticket uh page, but you can go to goldenrainbow.org and then uh under the events tab, you'll see the annual ribbon of life, and that'll tell you everything you need to know.
- 35:30Sean McAllister: Uh Sunday, December 4th, the Tropicana Theater.
- 35:34Sean McAllister: Cannot wait to have you join us.
- 35:36Sean McAllister: Oh, yeah, it'll be a good time.
- 35:38SPEAKER_03: All right.
- 35:39SPEAKER_03: Well, listen, um, we have a lot of podcasts coming up.
- 35:43SPEAKER_03: Uh podcast ideas, I should say, coming up.
- 35:45SPEAKER_03: Um, we're still working on that one where it's, you know, really great things to do that are a little expensive, but not through the roof.
- 35:54SPEAKER_03: We've been collecting that, but we've also got a holiday events podcast coming up that we've got to put together.
- 36:00SPEAKER_03: We have all these ideas.
- 36:01SPEAKER_03: And sometimes when it comes to the week, when we sit down, we go, no, we don't have time for that because we have to talk about this, this, this, and this.
- 36:07Sean McAllister: There's so much other new stuff that comes out.
- 36:09SPEAKER_03: So sorry if some of those are taking a little long.
- 36:12Sean McAllister: Oh my gosh.
- 36:12Sean McAllister: And then, of course, you know, as we continue to reach the end of 2022, we'll be looking ahead at all of the entertainment that we'll be expecting here in Las Vegas in 2023.
- 36:26Sean McAllister: I've got a lot to talk about.
- 36:28SPEAKER_03: Don't forget to download the Vegas Near Me app.
- 36:31SPEAKER_03: The link is in our show notes as well.
- 36:33SPEAKER_03: Brand new app.
- 36:34SPEAKER_03: You need iOS 16, and they're making updates literally by the day to improve this app.
- 36:41SPEAKER_03: It's does so many wonderful things, but soon you're going to be able to, or if you can't already now, get right into those hotel casinos and look around.
- 36:50SPEAKER_03: You don't know where the restroom is.
- 36:52SPEAKER_03: Well, guess what?
- 36:52SPEAKER_03: Open up Vegas near me, and it'll tell you where it is.
- 36:55SPEAKER_03: Because people tell us all the time, you know, the restrooms are so far apart in casinos uh that they can never find one or where to go.
- 37:04SPEAKER_03: And so this is gonna be a great thing.
- 37:06SPEAKER_03: Also, parking information.
- 37:08SPEAKER_03: You can book an Uber, the hours are there, the in and out, um, attractions, shows, experiences, restaurants, all of it.
- 37:16Sean McAllister: You can book your travel, your airfare, your hotel directly through the Vegas Near Me app.
- 37:23Sean McAllister: It is an invaluable resource to have in your pocket for anything you do in Las Vegas.
- 37:29SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it really is.
- 37:30SPEAKER_03: So again, click our link, use our link in the show notes.
- 37:34SPEAKER_03: We would appreciate that as well.
- 37:36SPEAKER_03: And we'll see you next week for another Vegas reveal.
