- 0:33I'm so drunk. Welcome back to hamster with a
- 0:42blunt. Penknife the Doctor Who
- 0:43commentary podcast. I am here with this.
- 0:46Spectacularly, fabulous. Steven Alexander say, Hello,
- 0:49Steven. Hello, hello, hello, hello.
- 0:53I will now say hello in the several dialects of which aren't
- 0:56I did that joke tonight. Let's yeah, let's just go
- 0:58straight to episode. No, wait.
- 1:00First of all, I threw out to Twitter.
- 1:05I asked them for the hand Fab if they had any opinions on forces.
- 1:10Despite our employee were their opinions.
- 1:12Okay? Three now.
- 1:15And I want, okay, what you think, okay.
- 1:17But on the condition that you read them out in the style of
- 1:20the announcers on bats life so that is we heard from you see
- 1:25McCall on Twitter like that. Okay there we go.
- 1:29So today we heard from Daniel night.
- 1:32Daniel night says it looks great.
- 1:34The BBC should have kept those sets instead of overused
- 1:37triangles are popped up in who Blake.
- 1:39On Etc. Tegan makes me laugh.
- 1:42Sometimes for the right reasons. Oh, Daniel!
- 1:46Patrick is a treacherous brat, and this guy gets to save the
- 1:49doctor because no one notices her.
- 1:52What do you think those that is? That is a beautiful correct
- 1:55opinion. However, I won't have a word
- 1:57said against the triangles Daniel nights you're out of
- 2:00here. Okay.
- 2:03Andy Parkinson chipped in with, I fully agree with you.
- 2:07This was me saying, I didn't like it.
- 2:09Yeah. It's an absolute dog, turd of a
- 2:11story. I'm going to have to watch it.
- 2:13Now, when I get home in order to vent my spleen and it's utter
- 2:17crap - well, what you do in your own flesh, time is up to you.
- 2:21And he's, so you're out here. I'll tell you what.
- 2:25That's a sort of tweet you wrote when Frazier for about robot of
- 2:28Sherwood. Yeah, well if you feel strongly
- 2:32about something, it's good to express yourself and vent that
- 2:35old Splinter, you are definitely feel some spleen venting in your
- 2:39Tweet. About robot of Sherwood.
- 2:42We have a new member of a me, I will always say gay and fight,
- 2:47is, is the name of the person, okay?
- 2:49All right, that's noise. Co-ed your app is free for free.
- 2:52I'm afraid Stephen o, a good story, one, great moment which
- 2:57is this is me in inverted Commerce outweighed by a week
- 3:01villain, such a waste of Stratford, John's a sketchy plot
- 3:05and a pretty poor climax of that particular season.
- 3:08It's the sixth best story. We've only time flight being
- 3:11worse that is outrageous. Stratford John is so far from
- 3:17being wasted in this story. He gets so much to do.
- 3:21He has so much character that you brings into the into the
- 3:26into the story and he's so much fun.
- 3:29Every scene he's in is just like, oh yeah, it's for John.
- 3:32Yeah, he's been really cool. I love it, I love it, I love it,
- 3:35everybody at Steven Alexander. All right, not me.
- 3:38Okay. All right.
- 3:42Okay, so we're gonna do a piece off here as well.
- 3:44Yeah. So you're basically saying
- 3:46you'll be like that Dawn French sketched.
- 3:48Remember where she's like your Mana pool?
- 3:52Yeah. No I'm thinking of is Leslie.
- 3:54Nielsen the Naked Gun where he's he's become the Umpire for the
- 3:58baseball match and he's just actually tell you I want to get
- 4:01off a bitch anyway. Yes remember when I do get in
- 4:05take me out to a holosuite you are God Okay.
- 4:10All right, we won't go into the outside cat is in then.
- 4:14OK and pulse the sodium chloride in 3 2, 1.
- 4:20Go I don't you have a general question for you though.
- 4:24Okay. Do you think this has a so
- 4:28Castro valve are kicked off the arrow in a really sort of
- 4:33refreshing way. And it ended on a very sort of
- 4:36optimistic, shipshape Tardis team.
- 4:38You know, often a Adventures, blah, blah.
- 4:40Do you think this feels like, you know, sort of stepping,
- 4:44stepping out into the universe, as a new team and that there's a
- 4:47kind of naivety, but sort of adventurous feel to this story.
- 4:52Absolutely, absolutely. They get to explore a spaceship
- 4:55and find strange. New worlds, I mean, what is
- 4:58Stranger Than finding a frog on a spaceship, surrounded by
- 5:03robots disguised, as Athenians and ancient Greeks, and, but I
- 5:08don't care, isn't it? It's so doctor, it's so
- 5:12wonderful. I think that also this kind of
- 5:14comes from round about this time.
- 5:17You know what, it reminds me. I've read about this time.
- 5:19You had you'd remember it. Did you ever have a Choose Your
- 5:21Own Adventure books? Oh yeah.
- 5:23When you flick forward and backwards different pages?
- 5:26Yeah, yeah and then it says, oh you need you need a pencil or a
- 5:29bit string or something to help, but I just want to read the
- 5:31book. There's ones that specifically
- 5:34set up. I found out it's inside you fo
- 5:375441 of the Sci-Fi Once it is some sci-fi ones of the tutor
- 5:42and Adventures. The title.
- 5:44Yeah, yeah. That's weak dollars.
- 5:45Yeah. I can remember it.
- 5:47I took it off on. Should have been obviously did
- 5:55Choose Your Own Adventure with the Doctor Who Choose Your Own
- 5:57Adventure books such as the Rowdy.
- 5:59He is a well-known. No, no, no.
- 6:02This is this is, this is the Choose Your Own Adventure series
- 6:05that were incredibly popular and about 83 84 and then obviously
- 6:09Be it for episode. Yeah.
- 6:10So that's what covers with a little border on them.
- 6:14Yeah, but you know what? You can do it for to do mistake,
- 6:16aren't ya? You ready?
- 6:18Buddy. Plot.
- 6:19There's so many I'm going on in this house.
- 6:24Yes. But it's all, yeah.
- 6:26But then you get people complaining, this slow.
- 6:28See those is. I think it's all clearly laid
- 6:30out and I love how everything develops and everything arises
- 6:36naturally from the previous plot point.
- 6:39And at the end, it does actually all tie together and make sense,
- 6:43you know, you could understand why everyone's a robot, you can
- 6:47understand this whole thing about them, having the plants
- 6:50the the floor in the former section because more Islamic
- 6:56needs the air. And yeah, the boys with the
- 6:58frogs you know, so that I think it's really well thought through
- 7:02but Enlightenment and persuasion their robots on my, they're not
- 7:06guess not actual frog but Stratford John's Look is an
- 7:10actual from person. Yes.
- 7:12He still have these questions, honestly, is he, is he still a
- 7:18frog are all the recreational people?
- 7:20They're all robots as well. So I'm just going to drop you
- 7:23the say. Wow, although he billion on one
- 7:30ship, I love that line. So I said it twice.
- 7:40So what's all this about, people miniaturized and who am I?
- 7:44I'm so confused, it's his race, it's the bankers always, done
- 7:47his militarized, all the bankers and put them on his ship.
- 7:50And then basically, I won't because, I don't thinks he's
- 7:54God, right? Moloch thinks he is the ultimate
- 7:58being and well, because he's so much smarter than everyone else.
- 8:01He's met the bar for the doctor and hand, you know, he thinks
- 8:05he's got the ultimate power. So he's spending his time, going
- 8:08backwards and forwards to her You know, you said in the last
- 8:13episode, you, oh, I'm fed up with watching these recreational
- 8:15at the end of four episodes. Joe, they've been watching these
- 8:18recreational for 25,000 years. How do you think they feel?
- 8:24Honestly, I could they've got a couple of things as a big
- 8:26brother or something to watch. But this is this is ultimately,
- 8:32for me, this is ultimately what doctor is about its people in
- 8:35funky costumes, in sci-fi corridors wondering about and
- 8:39having Adventures exploring and what is more Doctor Who than the
- 8:42costumes you getting. This is a costume drama with
- 8:46sci-fi corridors. It's fantastic.
- 8:49Yeah, so a moment ago I was very struck by the lighting in the
- 8:53corridor which was very dark and very shadowy and very moody.
- 8:56Yeah but it's I'm really irritated because John black and
- 9:00I think he's guilty of this Innkeeper tracking as well.
- 9:02And in canine company is it just a camera buddy, moves cameras,
- 9:07have the capacity to move and zoom.
- 9:09The now I'm do exciting things. And yet very often, they're just
- 9:12stationary and he does show off the sets.
- 9:16See there, the three of them there, it grabbed harmful
- 9:19shooting that he peed be slowly going in towards them or
- 9:22shooting up at them. You know, where is John packs
- 9:25direction is very flat, but Graham, Harper's strength is
- 9:30action and drawing you into a story through through, through
- 9:37these camera techniques. Whereas, I think Joe On black is
- 9:40sort of standing back and letting the effectors to the
- 9:43work, which is a shame because they've got Janet Sarah and
- 9:46math, you know. They are there any good?
- 9:50I think it's about to lose her shit here.
- 9:51I love you. No, no, no.
- 9:58You know, all the lines from this story there's that's so
- 10:02terrible. He's reaction is to that.
- 10:07It goes who we gonna tell will be lost?
- 10:16Yeah, but I think this is a very simple.
- 10:18You think it's terrible? I think it's really good because
- 10:21I enjoy it because I think it's fun.
- 10:23And I think what he does here, with the rock skin, is a lot of
- 10:25fun as well where he puts his hat on it.
- 10:29And does the Buzzy thing, not saying, there isn't any fun to
- 10:32be had here. I'm not saying that all, this is
- 10:34absolutely awful. Yeah, I've already mentioned
- 10:37design and things like that, but what I didn't even I have to
- 10:39mention the sets. You said it for me.
- 10:41I just think dramatically narratively in terms of dialogue
- 10:46characterization, there is a lot to be desired in this story.
- 10:52Well not really okay you get it's a good showing for like a
- 10:59may not be, you may not like the character but is a good showing
- 11:03for the four of them. And I think one thing it does
- 11:06very well is it actually balances The regulars.
- 11:11I'll give you done things here. They all get some.
- 11:13Yeah but I think they're all carrots rise to an extreme and
- 11:17that's not very believable. I think it at this stage it is
- 11:23because this is like their first story that's not big event where
- 11:27they're just together so you want to get to know them and
- 11:30what better way to get to know them by having the massively
- 11:33over acting, I'm saying, absolutely ridiculous things,
- 11:38even dating some sort through This script I don't think was
- 11:41one. They were in any great desire to
- 11:43make, but from what I understand and to Nereid was left with a
- 11:48pile of scripts J NT. Whizzed off to America to have
- 11:53his ego stroked or something and then sorry.
- 11:57I was going on those conventions.
- 11:58I don't want life and Anthony Reid had all these scripts and
- 12:02you know, a lot of them left a lot to be desired.
- 12:05What was the first ones to see? Project seated Sigma?
- 12:08That's the one. Yep.
- 12:09And but Force doomsday, whilst it was Workman like was ready to
- 12:14go, but essentially it had that it could be made.
- 12:18So they coat, right? We're gonna go with this one
- 12:20because it's you know, it's competent.
- 12:22You know. Well I fix on with the
- 12:25production notes of this and what I saw was the Project's
- 12:28needs to Sigma would have cost 50 Grand to make this cost 40
- 12:31gram to make. So there's really no question of
- 12:34which one they were going to do because this this was a better
- 12:36value, less characters, less sets, Do you know what that was
- 12:40about project? See the sigma the mostest poke
- 12:44off a nuclear war. Apparently, really all?
- 12:46That's really exciting. That's as much more exciting
- 12:48than this. So sighs, what could be more
- 12:51exciting than a space from coming to Earth and threatening
- 12:54to poison everyone? That's exciting.
- 12:56I find that exciting. What's more exciting than Tegan?
- 13:00Telling the doctor what a complete gears and then the
- 13:03doctor turning around. And basically talking to her
- 13:07like he was, oh God, I'm actually gonna go there.
- 13:09Talking to her. Like she was his pet, dog.
- 13:12Look at, hey, might as well. Those lovely 80 hairdos and this
- 13:21is nice. They've since I do you think
- 13:24Davison in this story comes across as a strong leading, man?
- 13:29Do you think he's a, I mean, you can't call him a worthy
- 13:32successor to talk because you can't succeed.
- 13:33Tom, but do you think he's good in the context of this story?
- 13:37I think there are Are only a few time in his entire run where I
- 13:42think he comes across as a strong leading man.
- 13:44And I think it's David some responding to the script.
- 13:47So something like Frontiers something.
- 13:49Like even like resurrection of the Daleks, I think he comes
- 13:51across mostly in 21. I think the snake dance he does
- 13:55as well. I think part of her shock he
- 13:57does but yeah I know it's not a popular opinion but you know,
- 14:02I'm not keen on Davison's. Very naturalistic doctor.
- 14:07Yeah. Yeah, I mean it is.
- 14:09Was needed at the time after Tom Baker because you don't want to
- 14:13have someone who you can compare to him.
- 14:17I do I do I do. He's just so likable which might
- 14:23not be, you know, might not be what you want from a doctor.
- 14:26But particularly in this story there's a real freshness and
- 14:30charm and Charisma that he's doing.
- 14:32I think he's I think he's very good in this while.
- 14:34He's very jolly fine line between likeable one Bland.
- 14:40Who likes planned people? Everyone I don't, I don't know.
- 14:44It doesn't feel vast this shit, doesn't it?
- 14:46Not because anyone else that way they're going off that way?
- 14:48And that Corridor stretches right down there.
- 14:50Feels, I mean, it doesn't feel like a small Studio.
- 14:54No, it doesn't, it? It's it's, it's very well done,
- 14:57isn't it? Yeah.
- 14:58So and I like harmonics, manipulating them, by splitting
- 15:03them up and send them off in different directions, which is
- 15:07kind of, yeah, possibly on subtly.
- 15:08The To doing that and inspect them all up.
- 15:13Yeah. Anyway so back to the plot.
- 15:16Yeah yeah yeah. It slows.
- 15:18You need explaining Joe. What all of it basically.
- 15:22Yeah. So why do they call those plants
- 15:24there for are just for him? Yes.
- 15:26He's your biological entity was there.
- 15:29Yep. That's right.
- 15:30So they have are although they didn't have air in the opening
- 15:34scene but I suppose they just pump it into the room that he's
- 15:36in and it all gets refreshed through that rooms that all make
- 15:39sense. So I'm now we're in the
- 15:41recreational or a lot of lovely culture.
- 15:45Yeah. Just like those blue PR cultural
- 15:50moments. It's all a bit dull.
- 15:53Hey look look at that man there he's got trainers on.
- 15:56Can you say he's supposed to be a Greek?
- 15:58And he's got a pair of sneakers on and that is exactly the sort
- 16:03of thing I never spot when I watch these things.
- 16:05So I usually wrapped up was going on.
- 16:06I was in a discontinuity guy. That's how I know.
- 16:09Yes. Well, they are.
- 16:13No, they haven't actually been back to Earth lately.
- 16:15So they wouldn't know what trainers were.
- 16:16Never mind. Now, I think the actor just had
- 16:18his trainers on and they thought they were going to be out of
- 16:20shot. Yeah, I think that the director
- 16:23also kind of loses interest in the recreational because we just
- 16:27like we have a few seconds of recreational.
- 16:29Then we got to these scenes, were having a chat up on the
- 16:31nice chairs. Very nice chairs.
- 16:33I think there's a lost interest in the first few seconds of this
- 16:35in my life. He was a terrible giggler.
- 16:45He barely kept it together and every single scene.
- 16:51Well, he's got a secret plot to take over the show, later on
- 16:54steal the show from our underneath everyone, and he's
- 16:56got some amazing dialogue coming up but us a little way off yet,
- 17:00but if she's fabulous on the behind us because she just gives
- 17:05you all the dirt, right? Yeah.
- 17:07And she says, Oh Shelly and the fellow who plays Professor Hey,
- 17:12sir in time fly and they're both such serious characters and
- 17:16apparently he was called sing all the time as well.
- 17:18I always laughing his head off. Yeah Nigel stock from Paul hate
- 17:25Fridays from time flight nitrous oxide.
- 17:27Again another really well-respected.
- 17:29Well excellent actor who waited in that moment.
- 17:33I'm now you just want to man. When he died, I cheered at sake
- 17:38of lighting as well. Well, this is actually I mean
- 17:43it's obvious probably the same set as one of the previous ones.
- 17:45But what's clear about this is that it is massively overly,
- 17:48it's for the god stuff and that gives it a different feel of
- 17:52different. Your standard 80s who lighting
- 17:54here in this story is a stark contrast to all the great lying
- 17:59everywhere else. But in stories like Warriors of
- 18:01the deep, this is every set. Yeah, it's super ultra bright.
- 18:06I think it really. I think it looks pretty good, I
- 18:08think. It's a nice effort.
- 18:11There's a probabilistic identity.
- 18:13Steve. Yeah.
- 18:14Well, you see, I've had this on camera so many people now.
- 18:17Do you think that's overlit if you like think Doctor, Who
- 18:24magazine probably mentioned, it was over it once.
- 18:27And that opinion is bounced around everyone.
- 18:31It depends what you're trying to achieve because you could do
- 18:35some very good frightening monsters in an overly
- 18:38environment because you can see What's going on, but it might
- 18:42have been more effective if they were creeping around in the
- 18:44shadows because it covers up any flaws in the monster design.
- 18:49You might have like the fact that it's still been hoping the
- 18:53Merkur. You know these these Chinese
- 18:56dragons coming out now. Yeah, they genuinely giant e
- 19:01says were from the local Chinese Takeaway here.
- 19:04No, no, seriously got on me because they knew how to do this
- 19:08dogs. Well, yeah, why not make use of
- 19:12make use of what's around? You, have you ever seen?
- 19:14Have you ever seen a proper Chinese Dragon Dance 9?
- 19:18We we were lucky enough, I was in New Zealand in Auckland round
- 19:23about the time of the Chinese New Year and you see Chinese
- 19:27dragon dances on TV and they're sort of a bit they're sort of
- 19:30it's not that exciting but when you see one actually doing it
- 19:34the people inside it's it's really really cool.
- 19:37It's so fucking brilliant. You You just don't get the feel
- 19:41of it and the rhythm of it, when you're watching it on TV, I
- 19:44don't think it comes across but it was, it was amazing.
- 19:47Well, well recommended, did you see that symbol?
- 19:50That was behind payday? Was that has text symbol, you
- 19:53see? I will.
- 19:55Yeah. It looks like it doesn't it
- 19:56looks like one of the ones rips off our, I like this line as
- 19:59well. They have lungs.
- 20:00Let them remember that know you love.
- 20:13I agree with Peter Davison that I think that's where the gold
- 20:17was in this seasoned. And I love the scenes between
- 20:19Nyssa and the doctor in the visitation.
- 20:22Especially that's funny because I don't think mr.
- 20:26Is the strongest character in this story by any means.
- 20:28And I behave Tegan. I think, well, I think she can
- 20:32give a very stilted delivery at Key moments.
- 20:35But do you think she's got she's got some fabulous big finishes
- 20:39with Davison. Yeah, plus years later, you
- 20:43know, this is where are them now.
- 20:45Big finish is the future, but I love their crappy keyboard to
- 20:52where he pushes her and then add your choice to get all Bush.
- 20:54He's like, don't you do that to her stop?
- 20:59Fiddling around with my lovely 80s Holograms go away.
- 21:03There's a billion episode 1 where she gets taken away and he
- 21:06says some the knock knock, I can't say it now, they're not to
- 21:09God. He goes So when I said, where is
- 21:11she? He trusted coach.
- 21:15He's got to do his bit to defend the weak and innocent women who
- 21:19don't have brains to do. Maths, doesn't they Wasp?
- 21:23That's his words, don't wanna tell you what, right?
- 21:25Matthew Waterhouse matured into a very strong actor because I've
- 21:31heard him give performances will be finished and he's incredibly
- 21:35good. Now that is it over.
- 21:37I kind of think he had dogs who at the wrong time Hi, he does.
- 21:40He does have trouble walking across the set.
- 21:42Convincing sometimes. Yeah.
- 21:44And I always find a sure sign of a nervous actor is one whose
- 21:48hands are in his pockets. All the time, Matthew White
- 21:51House has it all. Peter Davison hands are glued
- 21:55into his pockets after that. It's not so much in this story
- 21:57but later on like, throughout the rest of the time, he just
- 22:00doesn't know what to do is handsome.
- 22:02It always in his pockets, aren't they?
- 22:03What's happened to take his neck?
- 22:06Well love bites, look at it, they're doing We're going to
- 22:09pretend we're watching the recreational whilst we're having
- 22:12a Sinister conversation acting. Well they should be Bangles that
- 22:16because obviously nobody's watching the recreational
- 22:18interest. You know.
- 22:20Do you think this gladiatorial fight is a bit like how it looks
- 22:24in the mythmakers? I oh I'd love to see the
- 22:28mythmakers, I'd love to know, I'd love to know, I think the
- 22:32myth makers, the big make a big thing out of them having a fight
- 22:35and then stopping to talk for five minutes while they deliver
- 22:38the next sword blow and say, Great, they are and so on and
- 22:41I'll God I just love to see that story.
- 22:42So he is there a doctor in the horse?
- 22:47We don't know. We haven't seen it, it doesn't
- 22:48exist. There's no telescopes or
- 22:50anything. I'm gonna be honest with you.
- 22:52Now this ain't got a lot of pace to it as it like it is very
- 22:56slow. You just you just an adrenaline
- 23:00junkie Joe. That's what you are.
- 23:02But like you skip forward, a few stories nerve sharks moving at a
- 23:05fair I'll be like, isn't it throughout?
- 23:09Are we We're going along corridors.
- 23:10Look now we're going down, small stairs.
- 23:13We're watching a bit of blue Peter, you know?
- 23:15Like it's I mean in terms of like suspense and drama and pace
- 23:22Is it happening? Well, they spend a lot of time
- 23:25in Earth shock wondering about corridors and going up and down
- 23:28stairs, you know, it's the same kind of cold fingers through the
- 23:32eyes. Hey, the camera is moving, Joe.
- 23:38Look at that. Oh, that's good luck till
- 23:40episode series remembered Idris Elba glowing.
- 23:43Red hole. Would he stick his finger in?
- 23:44What is that? It's a reactor of some kind, I
- 23:52do feel like Terrence doesn't. He is literally.
- 23:54Yeah, it's a written down all these great ideas.
- 23:57So right, I'm going to put them all in this Creek, every single
- 23:59one of them, you know, something, I'll stick the joy of
- 24:03this story is the exploration and the Mystery.
- 24:07You don't necessarily get that after.
- 24:10If, you know, the story or roughly what goes on in it
- 24:12before you see it, then you don't get that so much.
- 24:15There's a lot of stuff. What was going on with this
- 24:17blank Stakes? What are the stakes?
- 24:21The stakes are the future of the human race.
- 24:24You know, we don't disturb, you don't owe me anything.
- 24:27We don't get to know any of those people that are in danger.
- 24:30So why don't ya? I'm looking old slack because we
- 24:33just had T good acting realistically to a murder that
- 24:38she's just witnessed, which you've see so rarely on Doctor
- 24:41Who because normally they just take it all in their stride and
- 24:43how Iran has recently been killed.
- 24:45So yeah, so she's in a bit of a bad place but you know, but I
- 24:49think by the visitation She's battering at are elliptical to
- 24:53death. I'd buy Earth shock.
- 24:55She's gladly picking up a gun and murdering a Cyberman.
- 24:58So, you know, she gets over it. Did you see those people?
- 25:01Coming out, dolls in there? Yeah, into that.
- 25:03See, that's how I dance ball. I'll tell you what he did.
- 25:11He's pretty Adept with his pencil, isn't he?
- 25:14You've got to be Adept with your pencil.
- 25:16If you're gonna survive in the year 1983, what year we do want?
- 25:22You know, what folks doing today is?
- 25:23Thank you for to Doomsday is Series 6 of new series and I
- 25:28should tell you for why, because they're pretty shocking
- 25:31episodes, but very often got really good Cliffhangers.
- 25:36But that is not the strongest argument person I've ever heard
- 25:43in my life to be honest. You have a podcast slightly
- 25:49tenuous. Yeah, but if you if you don't
- 25:52know he's a robot and you think he's a human at this time?
- 25:54You think that sauce? Pretty impressive?
- 25:56Healing machine that I like that's quite a nice bit of
- 25:58Machinery as well with a big glass thing that slides down.
- 26:01Yes. So what could and we're just
- 26:03exploring the world, he's healed.
- 26:05There is a sealed. Yeah, and it's just it's just
- 26:09fun to just like enjoy finding out about these people and
- 26:14finding out what's going on in the ship and the mystery.
- 26:17And I just keep saying that repeatedly until I think, I
- 26:20think like The ideas that are presented?
- 26:26Yeah, the ideas are presented but they aren't explored.
- 26:32What level of exploration would you?
- 26:34Like? I would like say I don't know
- 26:37the idea of the Androids. Yeah.
- 26:40And then, let's go into that one idea in a lot of depth about
- 26:43identity the psychology of it, you know.
- 26:48Like just knew that my mind you they do that in Resurrection of
- 26:51the Daleks like they were Rodney abused.
- 26:53We know that turns out, I think. Okay.
- 26:56So this bit I think they do expect, well, they don't explore
- 26:59it fully in the script but there's that's sad.
- 27:01They said, by God's voice when he tells them, when he shows
- 27:04that what he is. And he says, this compound isn't
- 27:08me. That's this is me.
- 27:10And it's something that is really good.
- 27:12Isn't that clever use of CSO? I think that's really.
- 27:16It's, yeah, it works a lot because it's on the screen so
- 27:19briefly and you just get the flash of the effect.
- 27:22And I just think he sounds a bit bored.
- 27:24A little. This is me.
- 27:26Yeah, he's a, he's a, he's a, two and a half thousand year old
- 27:31Athenian. Whose body has been taken away
- 27:33and replaced robotics. I think he gives exactly the
- 27:37right performance for that. Kind of character, I love it.
- 27:41The two and a half thousand year old.
- 27:42If he, you know, he's, he's a robot.
- 27:45He's well, there's a difference there because he was a human who
- 27:50has been turned into a robot was become a robot.
- 27:56So I don't, yeah, I get, I don't know quite how it works.
- 27:58It's science fiction whatever. I'll bloody battle by.
- 28:01This you know, although think Tara's Dudley knew a lot of
- 28:08people baffled by things that don't matter.
- 28:10What matters is that he's he's because this is what he's become
- 28:14and he's kind of sad about it and he's got that weariness to
- 28:18him which I think is really good and he's the only one who's
- 28:21free-thinking against Maddux plans, which I love as well.
- 28:24Think about like the best Doctor Who stories that I've done.
- 28:26Like possession stories. Yeah.
- 28:29Where you've had people Straight Like That.
- 28:30I Know I Can space. Us with Noah and and it's a
- 28:33genuine character drama about someone who's being taken over
- 28:37and the going through this horrific thing and like this
- 28:41could, this could have been that, you know, you could have
- 28:44had that level of like psychological ways.
- 28:45Instead know it's just like shows the circuit and then he's
- 28:49just everyone's mate busy. May, you know, it's not one of
- 28:52those possessions stories joke is better than that.
- 28:55It's better than that. It's for to Doomsday.
- 28:58Yeah. V a bloody nonsense on telly.
- 29:02I'll tell you what. All right.
- 29:03Well, that's all here. This morning.
- 29:05So free, shall we? Yeah, we gonna do with this.
- 29:07Let's just carry on going nowhere with an argument.
- 29:10This goes round in circles. It's mental other key.
- 29:13Joe mental Anarchy.
