- 0:10Speaker 2: The world a bit can Welcome to Patriots Unfiltered. No, Paul,
- 0:21Speaker 2: it's that annual show March Madness. He's uh knee deep
- 0:25Speaker 2: in Nollah lights at this point.
- 0:28Speaker 3: But when it started lights probably he's about four SIPs
- 0:31Speaker 3: in right now?
- 0:31Speaker 2: Twelve or five? So who's this guy from Texas?
- 0:34Speaker 3: This is my favorite part?
- 0:36Speaker 2: And somebody is I heard this? I heard somebody? Mike, Mike, Mike, Mike, Mike, Mike.
- 0:41Speaker 4: No, who's going to be the Andy and the new one?
- 0:43Speaker 5: Like you guys have never transitioned to an Andy yet
- 0:46Speaker 5: there's only so many.
- 0:47Speaker 2: From the world.
- 0:49Speaker 3: Finishing each other.
- 0:50Speaker 5: Anyway.
- 0:50Speaker 6: Another another great phone call by Todd. He can put
- 0:53Speaker 6: away the path now.
- 0:58Speaker 3: I love it listening around listener crime, Hey, what's the
- 1:00Speaker 3: Lazare Bachelor party?
- 1:02Speaker 7: What is that?
- 1:03Speaker 2: They hired Darren Alafsky to do a strip tease? He
- 1:07Speaker 2: comes out of a cake.
- 1:08Speaker 3: What we got here is me?
- 1:09Speaker 8: This is Patriots Unfiltered, presented by Toyota's official website for
- 1:14Speaker 8: deals by a Toyota dot Com.
- 1:18Speaker 2: All right, welcome to Patriots unfiltered. It is Tuesday here
- 1:22Speaker 2: at Jillette Stadium, and it's Matisse again. Yeah. I gotta
- 1:28Speaker 2: tell you, we're getting emails already. They're not good, not
- 1:31Speaker 2: good about it. It's Alex, it's Paul myself. Deuce is
- 1:36Speaker 2: in Orlando at the owners meeting, Evan is at LS.
- 1:40Speaker 2: Where is he? L L s U at the pro day?
- 1:44Speaker 3: Daniels first, then May.
- 1:46Speaker 2: Yeah, we got Matt and Jeweles in the booth. So
- 1:48Speaker 2: it's a little bit of a different cast today. We'll
- 1:50Speaker 2: try to keep it going right. Big shoes to fill,
- 1:54Speaker 2: big shoes to fill. So we had the head coach
- 2:01Speaker 2: talk yesterday at the owners meeting. We had the not yesterday, Monday.
- 2:05Speaker 2: Wait a minute, what Tuesday?
- 2:07Speaker 3: Yesterday?
- 2:08Speaker 9: Yes?
- 2:09Speaker 3: Correct, yesterday and Monday spoke yesterday.
- 2:11Speaker 2: I am so screwed up. I called Matt Smith no
- 2:15Speaker 2: socks yesterday at about five thirty because I thought yesterday
- 2:18Speaker 2: was Tuesday, and I said, where's the owner? He says
- 2:21Speaker 2: he's going tomorrow in the morning. I'm like, I thought
- 2:24Speaker 2: he was going today. No, No, he's going tomorrow. I
- 2:26Speaker 2: thought yesterday was Tuesday, and the oh, the owner's going
- 2:30Speaker 2: on Wednesday. I'm just I don't know why I thought
- 2:33Speaker 2: yesterday was Tuesday. Anyway, the owner went today, the head
- 2:36Speaker 2: coach went yesterday, so we'll talk about what they had
- 2:39Speaker 2: to say.
- 2:40Speaker 3: Yeah, and we had all that stuff up on the website,
- 2:42Speaker 3: so I'm sure that our listeners had a chance to
- 2:45Speaker 3: to watch it. If not live, you got a chance
- 2:47Speaker 3: to see it, especially Girodd. It's been out there for
- 2:50Speaker 3: a whole day. Now you have some interesting stuff.
- 2:53Speaker 2: But as I am wont to do time, I have
- 2:57Speaker 2: something that's been Sunday. It's been building and it's and
- 3:00Speaker 2: it's you know, Paul's people, the media people covering the team,
- 3:04Speaker 2: not all of them, but a lot of them are
- 3:07Speaker 2: just I just think are being really really too nitpicky.
- 3:12Speaker 2: It's particularly Drod about what he's been saying, Like do
- 3:16Speaker 2: I think he talks too much?
- 3:18Speaker 3: Yes?
- 3:18Speaker 2: And I think like sometimes he talks and he should,
- 3:21Speaker 2: you know, needs to take a beat before he answers
- 3:23Speaker 2: the question. He doesn't have to, you know, just say
- 3:26Speaker 2: everything that's on his mind. But like to say that
- 3:29Speaker 2: that's an indication that things are in disarray here is
- 3:35Speaker 2: is really just I think, you know, going way over
- 3:39Speaker 2: the top in criticism. And I don't know if anyone
- 3:41Speaker 2: else agrees.
- 3:43Speaker 3: Can we agree? Can we identify? Can we call some
- 3:46Speaker 3: you know me, I like a good media sat well,
- 3:49Speaker 3: can we can we identify someone?
- 3:50Speaker 2: Well? I was talking to somebody here this morning, you know, I.
- 3:54Speaker 3: Was accost advice to say, Okay, yeah, who you know?
- 3:57Speaker 2: Brought up a couple of people, you know, do we
- 4:00Speaker 2: want to go there?
- 4:02Speaker 9: What did I do?
- 4:03Speaker 3: One of the one was because I haven't heard the
- 4:06Speaker 3: second part. I totally agree with your first part one
- 4:08Speaker 3: thousand percent. I haven't really heard a lot. I've heard
- 4:11Speaker 3: a couple about a lot of concern with the lack
- 4:16Speaker 3: of experience, and I think it's going to be and
- 4:18Speaker 3: they think it's going to be a disaster. Okay, well,
- 4:21Speaker 3: I haven't really heard it's going to be a disaster
- 4:24Speaker 3: because he talks a lot.
- 4:25Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 4:25Speaker 2: I mean one of them was Greg Badard and the
- 4:29Speaker 2: other one was Callahan.
- 4:31Speaker 3: Did not see that one coming up? Okay, and Andrew
- 4:34Speaker 3: Callahan and the Herald, and I did not see his stuff.
- 4:38Speaker 3: I've heard a little of Greg.
- 4:39Speaker 2: Yeah, and it's just like should should we should we
- 4:44Speaker 2: be questioning the lack of experience? Sure, he's never done
- 4:49Speaker 2: this before. It's a fair concern, but to think like
- 4:54Speaker 2: it's going to it's going to be a disaster. Why
- 4:58Speaker 2: why why are we already labeling it a disaster when
- 5:02Speaker 2: they you know, I think Mayo missed an opportunity. Yesterday,
- 5:07Speaker 2: Karen asked him, you know, is this a foreign thirteen
- 5:09Speaker 2: team in your eyes? Because you know, there were some
- 5:11Speaker 2: people like Badard who said, you know, really they were
- 5:14Speaker 2: a six to seven win team, you know, a couple
- 5:16Speaker 2: of things.
- 5:16Speaker 3: That's why I was surprised when.
- 5:19Speaker 2: So she said, is this a foreign thirteen team? And
- 5:22Speaker 2: you know, Girod had like this long answer. All I
- 5:25Speaker 2: would have said is no, we're not. We're a zero
- 5:27Speaker 2: and zero team.
- 5:28Speaker 3: That's perfect.
- 5:29Speaker 2: This team hasn't played yet and and in fact, we
- 5:32Speaker 2: don't even have this team built yet. We're still in
- 5:35Speaker 2: the process. So yeah, we're not a foreign thirteen team.
- 5:38Speaker 2: We're zero and zero team. But like, it's just people
- 5:43Speaker 2: are really quick to label this thing a disaster, and
- 5:47Speaker 2: I think it's unfair.
- 5:48Speaker 11: It's crazy because I mentioned a couple months ago. But like,
- 5:50Speaker 11: once the change over happened, we have Mayo were locked
- 5:53Speaker 11: into the number three pick, and now all you can
- 5:55Speaker 11: do is kind of wait, and it just seems like
- 5:57Speaker 11: people are antsy and just coming up with stuff to say. Like,
- 5:59Speaker 11: I agree with you, Mayo should have been like zero
- 6:01Speaker 11: and zero, But like you, you don't know until you
- 6:03Speaker 11: don't know until like maybe Ota c how it's going.
- 6:05Speaker 11: But you're not gonna know until training camp.
- 6:07Speaker 3: Right, You're not gonna know until they play, and they're
- 6:09Speaker 3: gonna play. They're gonna play two months and you still
- 6:11Speaker 3: probably won't yah.
- 6:12Speaker 2: Yeah. And you know the other thing that I get
- 6:14Speaker 2: it they swung and missed it Calvin Ridley for whatever reason.
- 6:19Speaker 2: You know, they claim it wasn't money whatever. But this
- 6:23Speaker 2: whole thing that they've got all this money and they
- 6:25Speaker 2: haven't spent it yet. Every time we bring up a
- 6:29Speaker 2: player like Tyront's, you know, do you really want to
- 6:32Speaker 2: get him? You know, all these guys assigned these one
- 6:35Speaker 2: year deals. Is that really where the Patriots should have
- 6:37Speaker 2: spent their money? If you think it is, okay, But like,
- 6:41Speaker 2: I don't really see other than Ridley, where boy they
- 6:45Speaker 2: really screwed up by not going after so and so
- 6:48Speaker 2: and spending a lot of money.
- 6:49Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, I think you can make an argument
- 6:51Speaker 3: for the tackles, and I think you're one that made
- 6:52Speaker 3: the augument.
- 6:53Speaker 2: I love Tyron Smith, but but yeah, I didn't know
- 6:57Speaker 2: he was gonna go for nothing. I think for nothing.
- 7:00Speaker 2: I would have taken him, right, But like, like you know,
- 7:05Speaker 2: I just.
- 7:06Speaker 3: I just and I would say Jonah Williams, you know,
- 7:08Speaker 3: for two years like that he signed with Arizona. I
- 7:11Speaker 3: think that would have been a perfectly reasonable contract to
- 7:14Speaker 3: plug someone on the other side, you know, you have
- 7:17Speaker 3: a WHENU and Mayo sort of backed up that he
- 7:20Speaker 3: plans on starting at right tackle, but did not rule
- 7:23Speaker 3: out him moving around, yeah as well, I thought that
- 7:27Speaker 3: would have made some sense to alleviate one of those
- 7:29Speaker 3: major needs heading into the draft.
- 7:31Speaker 11: Yep.
- 7:31Speaker 2: But I just don't, you know, like this whole thing, Oh,
- 7:34Speaker 2: they've they've screwed up, you know. I think they you know,
- 7:37Speaker 2: they they're making an evaluation, and I don't think it's
- 7:40Speaker 2: for a lack of wanting to spend. They just haven't felt,
- 7:44Speaker 2: you know, this is the right move. So I don't know,
- 7:47Speaker 2: I don't I don't see where everyone is just so
- 7:50Speaker 2: like I think.
- 7:51Speaker 12: People on the ledge, people's expectations are just way too
- 7:54Speaker 12: high for next season with all the intangibles here. And also,
- 7:58Speaker 12: like I think reporters and fans alike went so long
- 8:01Speaker 12: having to read in between every single little line to
- 8:04Speaker 12: get any clues from Bill.
- 8:06Speaker 13: And he wasn't going to give them.
- 8:07Speaker 14: And now Girod's kind of just like not laying it
- 8:10Speaker 14: all on the table, but very cordial, very casual in conversation,
- 8:13Speaker 14: and they're like trying to read into that too or
- 8:16Speaker 14: take everything so literally, and it's like, calm down, what
- 8:20Speaker 14: are we doing?
- 8:20Speaker 2: Calmed down?
- 8:22Speaker 3: And again, now I think the disaster part is ridiculous. Okay,
- 8:26Speaker 3: like we haven't even played a game. I don't think
- 8:29Speaker 3: it's any any less ridiculous. It suggest they're going to
- 8:31Speaker 3: go seventeen and oh right, like it's it's ridiculous, yeah,
- 8:34Speaker 3: to suggest.
- 8:35Speaker 2: But in the owner said, I hope we don't struggle.
- 8:37Speaker 2: I mean, that's kind of a big admission.
- 8:40Speaker 3: But my point being is when you talk about people
- 8:44Speaker 3: being disappointed with what they've done so far, that's a
- 8:46Speaker 3: different thing than saying it's going to be a disaster.
- 8:49Speaker 3: The Mayo tenure is not going to work. Yeah, because
- 8:52Speaker 3: I think it's it's it's certainly realistic if someone is thinking, well,
- 8:59Speaker 3: I'm a little disappointed for a couple of reasons. One
- 9:01Speaker 3: you mentioned the money that they had. He said that
- 9:06Speaker 3: about the cash to burn.
- 9:08Speaker 13: Oh, I know, right, so which walked back on Monday.
- 9:11Speaker 3: No, I know, but he said it, and that establishes expectations.
- 9:15Speaker 3: And then when the expectation is that they're going to
- 9:17Speaker 3: be aggressive and they're not, I understand why people are disappointed.
- 9:21Speaker 3: That doesn't translate too, this is a disaster.
- 9:24Speaker 14: Yeah, So all that translates is he's brand new to this.
- 9:28Speaker 13: I don't think you really have to.
- 9:30Speaker 12: When you're in a role like that, You need to
- 9:31Speaker 12: think like ten steps ahead with everything that comes out
- 9:34Speaker 12: of your mouth. You need to think about all the
- 9:36Speaker 12: different ways it can be interpreted. And it just I
- 9:39Speaker 12: don't think he's ever had this much of like a
- 9:42Speaker 12: telescope on it.
- 9:43Speaker 2: I was thinking, you know, remember when you were a kid,
- 9:45Speaker 2: like you didn't always have money in your pocket, but
- 9:48Speaker 2: sometimes like maybe your grandmother gave you twenty bucks, and
- 9:52Speaker 2: you have twenty bucks in your pocket and you want
- 9:54Speaker 2: to spend that money, and so you go to like
- 9:57Speaker 2: the toy store, like all of a sudden, you don't
- 10:00Speaker 2: know what to spend it on. It's like, oh, I
- 10:02Speaker 2: wanted to spend it, but like I can't decide what
- 10:05Speaker 2: to spend it on. It's kind of like maybe how
- 10:07Speaker 2: they're feeling right now.
- 10:08Speaker 3: I've never heard that problem.
- 10:10Speaker 2: Well, but you know, you ever get remember that when
- 10:13Speaker 2: you were a kid?
- 10:14Speaker 9: I do.
- 10:14Speaker 11: I don't know what all I think about is the receivers,
- 10:16Speaker 11: and it's just like you're not I don't know, spending
- 10:19Speaker 11: on a thirty one year old Keenan Allen with the
- 10:21Speaker 11: draft pick and then having to pay him or Calvin
- 10:23Speaker 11: Ridley's twenty nine, like, look what happened we spent all
- 10:25Speaker 11: that money a couple of years ago.
- 10:26Speaker 2: It's just well, the reason, the most disappointing thing with
- 10:29Speaker 2: Ridley that it's not so much the player, it's I
- 10:32Speaker 2: would have loved to have had that bet, you know,
- 10:35Speaker 2: a receiver better than anything that we've got now on
- 10:37Speaker 2: the roster. So it takes a little bit of pressure
- 10:40Speaker 2: off having to get one early in the draft. You know,
- 10:44Speaker 2: we could get one in the third or fourth round.
- 10:46Speaker 3: I'll be honest. My biggest disappointment with Ridley is they
- 10:50Speaker 3: wanted him. Yeah, they're disappointed. And Robert when he talked
- 10:55Speaker 3: this morning, reiterated they sort of talked about a whole
- 10:58Speaker 3: story about his girlfriend. You know, was really wanting to
- 11:02Speaker 3: stay in the South, and well I was willing to.
- 11:04Speaker 3: Like they were all in on Calvin Ridley if you
- 11:07Speaker 3: listen to them.
- 11:07Speaker 14: No, Robert said, they were willing to make up the difference.
- 11:10Speaker 3: So that to me is reason to be disappointed. They
- 11:13Speaker 3: wanted something, well that was part of their plan.
- 11:15Speaker 2: They really wanted him. But to me, from what Robert
- 11:19Speaker 2: said and from what I've heard, is they got they
- 11:21Speaker 2: got the feeling that this guy's going to hold us
- 11:24Speaker 2: over a barrel. He really doesn't want to come here.
- 11:27Speaker 2: So like if we don't want and then fine go.
- 11:30Speaker 2: You know, I think they just gave up.
- 11:32Speaker 12: I'm laughing at the idea of Calvin Ridley's girlfriend just
- 11:34Speaker 12: like having her breakfast this morning, or like waking up
- 11:36Speaker 12: and seeing Robert Kraft talking about her.
- 11:38Speaker 3: And having Sully and Obie you know, taunting her and
- 11:41Speaker 3: sliding into d MS making fun of him. Yeah, hey, thanks, Yoko.
- 11:46Speaker 2: The other thing, the other thing that you know, and
- 11:49Speaker 2: we've talked about this on this show before, I'm getting
- 11:52Speaker 2: the sense that there's more and more people who cover
- 11:54Speaker 2: the team who are fans, and they're covering the team
- 11:58Speaker 2: from a fan point of view. It's not like, you know,
- 12:02Speaker 2: they should have done this. It's like, man, I wish
- 12:05Speaker 2: they had done this. Well, what do you care?
- 12:08Speaker 15: You know?
- 12:08Speaker 2: Well, like, are you covering the team as an independent journalist?
- 12:11Speaker 2: Are you covering the team as a fan?
- 12:13Speaker 3: I get what you're saying about the fan part of it,
- 12:15Speaker 3: but like you know, even if you don't care about
- 12:17Speaker 3: the team, which I don't think any of these guys
- 12:20Speaker 3: fall into that category, they all care because the vast
- 12:23Speaker 3: majority of them grew up around here and they do care.
- 12:26Speaker 3: But even if you didn't care at all, wouldn't it
- 12:28Speaker 3: be isn't it more compelling to cover a team that's relevant?
- 12:30Speaker 3: Oh yeah, sure, so you want good players to cover it,
- 12:34Speaker 3: you know so, But you're covering a team that's.
- 12:36Speaker 2: I just in the sense that like they've got their
- 12:38Speaker 2: fanboy cap on rather than their journalists cap on.
- 12:41Speaker 3: Yeah, that's always the case. Though it didn't bother you
- 12:43Speaker 3: when they were going twelve and four.
- 12:45Speaker 2: Ohough, there was nothing to talk about because there was
- 12:47Speaker 2: only one answer. They're great and if you don't write that,
- 12:49Speaker 2: you're an idiot.
- 12:50Speaker 13: And it made it easy. It really made it easy
- 12:53Speaker 13: to cover the team.
- 12:55Speaker 12: And now there is in a place where the only
- 12:58Speaker 12: stuff that's really going to move the needle number wise
- 13:00Speaker 12: and with clicks is kind of I mean, what does
- 13:03Speaker 12: best on social media sparking outrage, drama, controversy, drama. So
- 13:08Speaker 12: anytime you're tweeting about that stuff, anytime you're putting a
- 13:10Speaker 12: story out.
- 13:11Speaker 2: Like that pet photos, I like that.
- 13:14Speaker 13: See I think I don't think they're putting that out.
- 13:16Speaker 3: But I think when they were winning, and you would
- 13:19Speaker 3: know more about this than I would, Alex. But when
- 13:21Speaker 3: they were winning, all you got was over the top
- 13:24Speaker 3: positive and I know you're being you know, really it
- 13:28Speaker 3: be an argumentative for the sake of being argumentative, But
- 13:30Speaker 3: there were times that you and I would talk about
- 13:32Speaker 3: things that you wish they had done. Even in the
- 13:34Speaker 3: midst of a twelve and four season, A lot of
- 13:38Speaker 3: those guys wouldn't write about anything like that. Every move
- 13:40Speaker 3: they made was the right. I mean, I told you
- 13:42Speaker 3: last people would get this is a solid sign team.
- 13:45Speaker 13: You're not happy with a winning team, like what are you?
- 13:48Speaker 3: But the point is I think that they want that
- 13:51Speaker 3: because you get the social media affirmation, and that's what
- 13:54Speaker 3: they do. They catered to their fans because they know
- 13:57Speaker 3: the fans. I've ever seen a team that every single
- 14:02Speaker 3: move they've made, whether they let a guy go or
- 14:04Speaker 3: they sign a guy, they make a trade, every single
- 14:06Speaker 3: move universally is loved. I've never seen a team like that,
- 14:10Speaker 3: and I've seen a lot of successful teams for the
- 14:13Speaker 3: like the last three or four years, a lot of
- 14:15Speaker 3: the newbies that have come on to beat every single move.
- 14:18Speaker 3: This guy's gonna fit right in. He's got this. I mean,
- 14:21Speaker 3: you've even seen it now. They're coming off a four
- 14:23Speaker 3: and thirteen season and you still get it. Like I'm
- 14:25Speaker 3: getting this breathless updates on armand Watts, who I never
- 14:29Speaker 3: even heard of you, Okay about how good it's in
- 14:33Speaker 3: my like, I don't again, I've gone through this before.
- 14:35Speaker 3: I don't know how they get there, Alex, but they're
- 14:38Speaker 3: in my feed somehow, and I'm getting these video clips.
- 14:41Speaker 3: This guy, he's this is Vince Wilfork two point oh. Like,
- 14:46Speaker 3: it can't be that way, and I think that they
- 14:49Speaker 3: are that way. They don't really believe it, but they
- 14:51Speaker 3: know if I go strong positive, I'm not gonna get
- 14:55Speaker 3: any pushback. The fans are gonna love that. That's what
- 14:57Speaker 3: my fans want to hear. And if it goes bad, well, Hey,
- 15:00Speaker 3: at least I went bad being optimistic. You know, if
- 15:03Speaker 3: I rip them and he ends up being a really
- 15:05Speaker 3: good player, Dan, I'm going to hear about that later,
- 15:08Speaker 3: you know, like like you know when you know, like
- 15:12Speaker 3: when when Andy talks about Rashad Mendenhall, right, you know, like,
- 15:16Speaker 3: oh he didn't pan out, he still hears about it.
- 15:19Speaker 2: I guess my overall thing is this season could go anyway.
- 15:23Speaker 2: You go up, down, it could go anyway. But there's
- 15:26Speaker 2: nothing yet that I've seen that would indicate which way
- 15:28Speaker 2: it's going to go. And I think at this point
- 15:31Speaker 2: to say they're going to it's gonna be disaster any
- 15:34Speaker 2: more than it's going to be seventeen and oh, is
- 15:37Speaker 2: really premature. And you know, just I think irresponsible. If
- 15:42Speaker 2: you're covering the team as a journalist.
- 15:45Speaker 11: What do you think of the wins line set for
- 15:47Speaker 11: the year?
- 15:48Speaker 9: What is it?
- 15:49Speaker 3: Four and a half?
- 15:49Speaker 11: Four and a half?
- 15:50Speaker 2: Like I can understand that, I agree, you know, look
- 15:53Speaker 2: at the competition, that's the main thing. You know, other
- 15:57Speaker 2: teams are trying to get better too. You know, we're
- 15:58Speaker 2: not the only team trying to prove.
- 16:00Speaker 3: I mean, it's premature because the draft hasn't come yet.
- 16:04Speaker 3: But I mean there's been a lot of team building
- 16:07Speaker 3: going on, and the Patriots chose to do a certain
- 16:11Speaker 3: way in retain a couple of players, and they haven't,
- 16:15Speaker 3: in my opinion, really improved anything. Now. The draft is
- 16:18Speaker 3: a big part of that. You're gonna have high draft
- 16:20Speaker 3: picks in all the rounds and you have a chance
- 16:23Speaker 3: to get a couple of impact players obviously, and.
- 16:27Speaker 2: The disdain for you know, signing their own players, like
- 16:32Speaker 2: you have to sign play if you get rid of
- 16:34Speaker 2: dugger if you get rid of and when you you're
- 16:36Speaker 2: gonna have to sign people to replace them. And isn't
- 16:39Speaker 2: so you chose to get your own people.
- 16:41Speaker 12: Isn't it kind of a good sign that after all
- 16:43Speaker 12: the dysfunction that we've all lived through the last two years,
- 16:46Speaker 12: the guys that were actually in the locker room and
- 16:48Speaker 12: saw what was going on every day, like the guys
- 16:50Speaker 12: that actually have to live it in their career rides
- 16:52Speaker 12: on all of that, they were willing to come back.
- 16:56Speaker 13: They still wanted to.
- 16:57Speaker 2: Be a part of that.
- 16:57Speaker 3: Sure about Doug yet, yeah, dog like yeah, Like Michael,
- 17:03Speaker 3: when like so this is where I'll pushed back, Like
- 17:06Speaker 3: the wind was different when you I think had an
- 17:08Speaker 3: option to go. I'm not going to say anywhere, but
- 17:10Speaker 3: I think he had options, and I think he was
- 17:12Speaker 3: highly regarded. You know, one year, three million, three years,
- 17:15Speaker 3: twelve million, one year, one point three million. These guys
- 17:19Speaker 3: didn't have options.
- 17:19Speaker 2: Yeah, but they could.
- 17:21Speaker 13: They could have gone somewhere Hunter Henry was probably the
- 17:24Speaker 13: best title.
- 17:25Speaker 2: I'm sure they could have gone somewhere else for similar money,
- 17:28Speaker 2: but they chose to, right, So.
- 17:30Speaker 3: Why would you do that because they hate like they
- 17:33Speaker 3: don't hate your rud mayo?
- 17:35Speaker 2: No, but what No? I didn't say that.
- 17:36Speaker 13: Yeah, like after a situation.
- 17:38Speaker 2: You're saying, if it was so bad, then they would
- 17:40Speaker 2: want to leave.
- 17:41Speaker 12: Yeah, you would think that all the toxicity, no matter
- 17:43Speaker 12: what is coming in, no matter what changes are going
- 17:45Speaker 12: to be made, you just need a change of scenery.
- 17:47Speaker 13: Get the hell out, right.
- 17:48Speaker 3: Yeah, I think if there was options, they would have gone.
- 17:51Speaker 2: So maybe it wasn't so bad. You can think that.
- 17:53Speaker 3: I mean, when the guy signed a one year, three
- 17:55Speaker 3: million dollars deal, I don't think that he signed because
- 17:58Speaker 3: he wanted to stay part of this culture. Well, he
- 18:00Speaker 3: also he's betting on himself.
- 18:02Speaker 2: He didn't leave because he hated it. He stayed. You know.
- 18:05Speaker 3: Oh, I didn't say he hated. He loves Gerard Mayo.
- 18:07Speaker 3: We said that last year. Yeah, ooh, Jay he said specifically,
- 18:10Speaker 3: I would run.
- 18:11Speaker 2: Through a wall for that.
- 18:12Speaker 3: So that's a good Thingah, that's fine. But if he
- 18:14Speaker 3: had options, he'd be gone.
- 18:15Speaker 2: Adam went to that window.
- 18:19Speaker 3: All I'm trying to say is that, well, up to
- 18:21Speaker 3: five and a half, there was a lot of talk
- 18:22Speaker 3: about him having these multimillion dollar offers that he turned down.
- 18:26Speaker 3: I don't believe that. I don't.
- 18:28Speaker 11: I think the big ones Hunter Henry, I think he
- 18:30Speaker 11: could have got a lot. Joseih came back.
- 18:32Speaker 3: I think I think he could have gotten really, no,
- 18:34Speaker 3: nine million a year, he's going to get more than that.
- 18:36Speaker 2: He could have got as much. If he didn't like it,
- 18:39Speaker 2: he could have got as much and left. But he didn't.
- 18:42Speaker 3: I think that's for a guy his age, that's topping
- 18:46Speaker 3: it out if you ask me, all right, well, anyway,
- 18:49Speaker 3: nine million a year or just twenty nine year old
- 18:51Speaker 3: receiver coming off a major injury, tight end coming off
- 18:53Speaker 3: an injury.
- 18:54Speaker 2: Let's just hold our breath. We got the draft coming up,
- 18:58Speaker 2: and as the owner said, and I think Jerrod might
- 19:01Speaker 2: have mentioned it two guys will get released after the draft.
- 19:04Speaker 2: Once you know, teams figure out who they got. You
- 19:07Speaker 2: know you're gonna have to pay more probably, but you know,
- 19:11Speaker 2: we'll see. The team building process does not end even
- 19:16Speaker 2: after the draft. It continues right up and in including preseason.
- 19:20Speaker 3: And I think there could be some big ticket guys like,
- 19:23Speaker 3: you know, get my eye on the receivers, you know,
- 19:25Speaker 3: Higgins and Ayuk. I have my eye on you know,
- 19:27Speaker 3: they continue.
- 19:28Speaker 2: I don't know why they would get rid of Ayuk.
- 19:29Speaker 3: They don't want to get rid of these guys, want
- 19:32Speaker 3: to sign contracts that they're not getting. Yeah, but I
- 19:34Speaker 3: don't think either teams wants to get rid of it.
- 19:36Speaker 2: I love Samuel, but I think I would if I'm
- 19:39Speaker 2: the forty nine ers, I prioritize Ayuk over and I
- 19:43Speaker 2: get rid of Samuel.
- 19:44Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 19:45Speaker 2: Now that's probably a lot of dead money if they
- 19:46Speaker 2: do that, so they can't get hurt a lot too.
- 19:48Speaker 3: I don't think it if San Francisco, it shouldn't be
- 19:51Speaker 3: in either role. Yeah, it should be. I want both. Yeah,
- 19:54Speaker 3: but I agree with you that would hold on Yuk.
- 19:57Speaker 11: And I'm waiting to see though that, Like if there's
- 19:58Speaker 11: a Higgins trades and like a j Brown a couple
- 20:00Speaker 11: of years ago, just something that we're not look.
- 20:02Speaker 3: At what Jerry snead Like, same kind of deal and
- 20:05Speaker 3: he goes for the third round pick and some other
- 20:07Speaker 3: stuff like it's not outrageous, but you got.
- 20:10Speaker 10: To pay the guy.
- 20:11Speaker 11: That's a well win win loose.
- 20:14Speaker 3: Okay, but those are the guys, those two receivers. I
- 20:18Speaker 3: think there's a I'm not going to tell you I
- 20:20Speaker 3: think the Patriots are going to get one, but I
- 20:21Speaker 3: think those are big ticket items that could be a
- 20:24Speaker 3: swing for the Patriots.
- 20:25Speaker 2: Yeah, the weaponizing hasn't started yet.
- 20:29Speaker 3: Even you can't stop.
- 20:35Speaker 2: Finger wags me for doing it just because that hasn't happened,
- 20:38Speaker 2: Just because it hasn't happened yet. I don't think it's
- 20:41Speaker 2: a disaster, you know, and I don't I don't think.
- 20:44Speaker 2: I don't think that Gerardo, you know, spilling.
- 20:47Speaker 3: His oj okay, Joe Murray, no.
- 20:52Speaker 2: Funny, that was Callahan, I think and his you know,
- 20:54Speaker 2: it's a it's a sign, it's you know.
- 20:56Speaker 3: That's what Joe Murray was saying last night. I was
- 21:00Speaker 3: at first I thought he was making a joke. But
- 21:03Speaker 3: say that like just like like he's all over it
- 21:06Speaker 3: was a metaphor for what I was like the whole
- 21:10Speaker 3: It's a mess.
- 21:11Speaker 2: It's a mess.
- 21:11Speaker 11: This is what I mean, Like, right, look too deep.
- 21:15Speaker 3: That's why I thought you were talking about That's.
- 21:16Speaker 2: Why I was dramatic.
- 21:17Speaker 13: Why are men so dramatic? I don't understand who's who's okay,
- 21:24Speaker 13: who's the one trying to create?
- 21:29Speaker 2: And I just feel bad for the fans, like the
- 21:32Speaker 2: writers of the Conduit to the team, and they have
- 21:35Speaker 2: to sift through this stuff. I don't know. Paul was
- 21:40Speaker 2: on one of his shows yesterday for four hours, and
- 21:43Speaker 2: now I noticed something about Paul. When he's on one
- 21:46Speaker 2: of his shows. He's a different Paul. He's more cool
- 21:48Speaker 2: kind of Yeah, he's more like after dark Paul, you know,
- 21:54Speaker 2: And if you really listen closely, he sounds like Dan shaughnessy.
- 21:58Speaker 12: It's like when you have that friend that with you
- 22:00Speaker 12: they're normal, but then they hang out with other friends
- 22:02Speaker 12: who are cooler and they put on so.
- 22:04Speaker 3: You think I was cool and understated. Compare comparatively.
- 22:07Speaker 2: It's a snarky, but you're in an understated.
- 22:10Speaker 3: Okay, well, I still got a costume for you know.
- 22:14Speaker 2: I only heard the end of the end of the show.
- 22:16Speaker 3: Oh no, there was nothing on the show. But the
- 22:18Speaker 3: show was harmless. Okay, show was.
- 22:22Speaker 2: In my opinion, Well, you got to you gotta stir
- 22:25Speaker 2: it up when you get on these shows. When and
- 22:28Speaker 2: I'll tell you, when Tony Mazzarati first started going on
- 22:31Speaker 2: the radio, he was nice Tony and then he turned
- 22:35Speaker 2: into evil Tony and that's when he got the full
- 22:37Speaker 2: time job.
- 22:39Speaker 3: You would recognize there's a little bit of a line
- 22:42Speaker 3: that I have to know.
- 22:43Speaker 2: But you can be evil about the other teams.
- 22:47Speaker 3: We didn't talk a lot about the other teams, but
- 22:49Speaker 3: I ripped into the Red Sox and Bruins.
- 22:51Speaker 10: A little bit.
- 22:51Speaker 2: Okay, who isn't these days?
- 22:54Speaker 3: Well the Bruins.
- 22:56Speaker 2: Yeah, Oh, by the way, should we talk about a
- 22:58Speaker 2: little bit?
- 22:59Speaker 3: I was told to stay in my mind just I
- 23:02Speaker 3: don't want to know.
- 23:03Speaker 12: Also, the stuff happening, did you guys see the Michael
- 23:05Speaker 12: Porter Junior's brother stuff to a lot of sports.
- 23:13Speaker 3: Think about the game, I don't. I don't understand why
- 23:19Speaker 3: the leagues have to get criticized for their partnerships. Now
- 23:23Speaker 3: with all the best, I agree as a result of this, yeah,
- 23:25Speaker 3: I agree. I don't really understand what one has to
- 23:28Speaker 3: do with the age.
- 23:29Speaker 11: Yeah, it happened in the Premier League in this player.
- 23:32Speaker 3: Especially Otani, which was not a book was not one
- 23:35Speaker 3: of these.
- 23:36Speaker 13: Was an old fashioned bookie.
- 23:38Speaker 2: But here's Initially it was, you know, the interpreter betting
- 23:45Speaker 2: and uh Otani, you know, wired four and a half
- 23:49Speaker 2: million dollars to this bookie. Then now the story is
- 23:52Speaker 2: the money was stolen by his interpreter. Okay, if that's true,
- 23:57Speaker 2: the interpreter is going to get arrested, right and the
- 24:00Speaker 2: bookie probably too for an accessory. And if it's not true,
- 24:03Speaker 2: then the bookies, I mean, this interpreter is gonna spill
- 24:07Speaker 2: the beans, right, I'm not going to get I'm not
- 24:09Speaker 2: going to cover for this guy.
- 24:11Speaker 3: So eventually I see how much he's getting paid, Well,
- 24:13Speaker 3: I don't with them.
- 24:15Speaker 11: He's with them twenty four to seven more or less.
- 24:16Speaker 11: Like there's no way.
- 24:17Speaker 2: Yeah, I think eventually more of this, there's more to
- 24:20Speaker 2: come here. So I'm not going to like let myself
- 24:23Speaker 2: get arrested if I didn't actually steal the money. So
- 24:26Speaker 2: either he did or he didn't.
- 24:27Speaker 12: You know, fishy fish, are there games that were like
- 24:31Speaker 12: confirmed to be bet on where got shelled?
- 24:33Speaker 13: And I don't know.
- 24:34Speaker 12: I don't know if I looked up into it too deeply,
- 24:37Speaker 12: but like it.
- 24:38Speaker 2: Just I don't know about that. But the guy's now being.
- 24:43Speaker 3: I'm not sure because if they have proof that he
- 24:45Speaker 3: bet on baseball, he's never going to play again.
- 24:47Speaker 2: Well, oh, TONI, but what about if the interpreter bet
- 24:49Speaker 2: on baseball.
- 24:50Speaker 11: Oh that's different, right, Yeah, that's where the lines.
- 24:53Speaker 2: That's what That's what I had thought I read.
- 24:55Speaker 13: I thought, I thought I read.
- 24:58Speaker 12: I'll confirm this a little bit, but I had thought
- 25:00Speaker 12: I saw something about games being bet on by the.
- 25:07Speaker 13: That's that's why.
- 25:10Speaker 2: You can't do that. But like, the guy's now being
- 25:12Speaker 2: accused of being a thief, so he should be arrested.
- 25:16Speaker 2: And if he goes to jail, then that's probably true
- 25:19Speaker 2: and Tani will be off the hook. But if he
- 25:22Speaker 2: all of a sudden flips, we got this story's got legs.
- 25:26Speaker 3: If that's the case, jail, and there's gonna be there's
- 25:30Speaker 3: gonna be legs.
- 25:31Speaker 9: You know.
- 25:32Speaker 3: I don't know what what happened, but his story is,
- 25:36Speaker 3: in my opinion, not believable. Like his story his statement
- 25:42Speaker 3: yesterday is not believable.
- 25:43Speaker 14: No, I think he's a degenerate gambler, and I think
- 25:45Speaker 14: they were.
- 25:46Speaker 3: Well that that will be the worst case. Now I
- 25:48Speaker 3: think the best case for him would be that it
- 25:51Speaker 3: is the interpreter who is doing all the gambling, and
- 25:54Speaker 3: maybe he didn't know that he was doing it in
- 25:57Speaker 3: the first place. This is best case scenario for a time.
- 26:01Speaker 3: And then he and then he needed to get bailed out,
- 26:03Speaker 3: and then you know, he's he's bailing him out, then
- 26:07Speaker 3: realizing well, it's just as illegal the way I'm bailing
- 26:11Speaker 3: him out. I'm wiring money to you know, like all
- 26:14Speaker 3: this stuff. And now he's walking away from the guy.
- 26:18Speaker 3: But more likely he knew all along. The worst worst case,
- 26:24Speaker 3: as Alex, is the guy's betting and he knows he's betting,
- 26:29Speaker 3: and now he's maybe I think.
- 26:31Speaker 12: How do you steal that much money without having Why
- 26:34Speaker 12: would one why does your translator have access to any
- 26:36Speaker 12: of your bank information to steal that money.
- 26:39Speaker 13: It's not like he has that cash lying around.
- 26:40Speaker 2: I mean, he couldn't. He could have said, I want
- 26:43Speaker 2: you to manage my money.
- 26:44Speaker 12: You're translator is the guy, you're you're sho tani and
- 26:48Speaker 12: your financial managers doubling as your.
- 26:50Speaker 2: Train I mean, he was paying him three hundred grand
- 26:54Speaker 2: a year to be a translator. So he must have
- 26:56Speaker 2: been friendly with this guy, right, you would.
- 26:59Speaker 3: Think, yeah, yeah, that I don't find impossible. But I
- 27:03Speaker 3: find it impossible that he didn't know these transactions were
- 27:06Speaker 3: taking place. Yeah, I find that impossible.
- 27:08Speaker 2: Well, you hear all of a lot of times of
- 27:11Speaker 2: people just getting ripped off by people they trust.
- 27:13Speaker 3: Yeah, you know.
- 27:15Speaker 2: So I don't know. But if the guy's going to
- 27:17Speaker 2: jail and he didn't do it, he's not going to
- 27:20Speaker 2: just like go quietly.
- 27:22Speaker 11: Right, He's got a seven hundred million dollar contract that
- 27:24Speaker 11: something might be coming his way if he gets out.
- 27:26Speaker 2: So oh, maybe you go, you.
- 27:28Speaker 3: Take the fall. This is the money.
- 27:29Speaker 13: Could we do a couple of years get out here?
- 27:32Speaker 11: That could be Yeah, and we got the basketball player
- 27:34Speaker 11: got caught too. Yeah, Porter's brother.
- 27:36Speaker 2: I don't know about the hell.
- 27:37Speaker 12: It's just said that there was like a prop bet situation.
- 27:40Speaker 12: He was like the most bet on guy for prop bets.
- 27:43Speaker 11: But he's like a John Porter.
- 27:45Speaker 2: He's like a friend for the raptor.
- 27:47Speaker 11: And somebody's betting the overs on his three pointers, Like
- 27:50Speaker 11: who's doing that?
- 27:51Speaker 2: Just taking them or making them?
- 27:53Speaker 11: Making them?
- 27:54Speaker 12: And they were cashing right, and like an abnormal amount
- 27:57Speaker 12: of bets putting on being put on this really fringe
- 28:00Speaker 12: player who's really only getting ten minutes a game because
- 28:03Speaker 12: they suck so bad and it's a wire and then
- 28:06Speaker 12: he's leaving games.
- 28:07Speaker 2: Well, here's the thing, you know, you talk about, like
- 28:09Speaker 2: what's different now about betting than it used to be.
- 28:12Speaker 2: I think that these you know, now that it's legal
- 28:15Speaker 2: and these van duels and draft kings and everything, it's
- 28:17Speaker 2: on mobile phones and we're finding out about it. It's
- 28:20Speaker 2: all out there, you know, it's dat.
- 28:22Speaker 3: Yeah, the eye Actually that kind of gets to my
- 28:24Speaker 3: point about I don't know why it's so much worse
- 28:26Speaker 3: now that it's there's actual data, but you can market
- 28:30Speaker 3: it every and when something like that. If in other words,
- 28:33Speaker 3: if that guy's brother was betting through Joey the nose,
- 28:37Speaker 3: no one would ever know, right.
- 28:38Speaker 11: But so the thing is too it said that over
- 28:40Speaker 11: was like at four three pointers he hit that's the
- 28:42Speaker 11: under hits three and then tells us coach.
- 28:44Speaker 13: Like there's like a nosebleed.
- 28:48Speaker 11: And he's like out or oh, I don't feel what
- 28:49Speaker 11: and then.
- 28:49Speaker 13: The stomach bug or something.
- 28:51Speaker 2: You had to leave it.
- 28:51Speaker 13: Yeah, I don't know Fishy the.
- 28:53Speaker 2: Mathe mathing well, so anyway, so we I just thought,
- 28:59Speaker 2: you know, it's spoiled and it's a big deal.
- 29:01Speaker 3: Is a big deal.
- 29:02Speaker 12: Here's a difference thof like I noticed with my guy friends,
- 29:04Speaker 12: like my little sister's boyfriend, like casual fans that never
- 29:08Speaker 12: really bet before now degenerates like their girlfriends are like,
- 29:11Speaker 12: I don't know how to get it.
- 29:12Speaker 3: That's yeah, at that I totally agree with. That's a
- 29:15Speaker 3: different I'm talking about the impunity of the games.
- 29:18Speaker 16: You know.
- 29:18Speaker 3: Shaughnessy, you know, is still stripping tubes out of his
- 29:21Speaker 3: body so he can make fun of Major League Baseball
- 29:24Speaker 3: because of Otani. Like, that's the part I don't get.
- 29:27Speaker 2: And then I but and then I heard, well, you know,
- 29:29Speaker 2: wh what does it matter if he's betting with a
- 29:31Speaker 2: bookie or one of these you know, draft Kings, it
- 29:34Speaker 2: makes a big deal because if you get into the
- 29:36Speaker 2: hole with a bookie, they might say, hey, to get out.
- 29:40Speaker 3: Of the hole.
- 29:41Speaker 2: I got you, I need you to do something. Draft
- 29:44Speaker 2: Kings isn't doing that.
- 29:45Speaker 3: You can't do that. Your money's gone, right, right, do.
- 29:47Speaker 14: You guys see playing for the mob the BC one, Yeah,
- 29:50Speaker 14: that's a good one.
- 29:51Speaker 2: Paul, like that. I do, all right, So let's get
- 29:57Speaker 2: back to football. Eight five five pass five hundred. It's
- 30:00Speaker 2: ACE ticket houtline, web radio at patries dot com. Is
- 30:02Speaker 2: the email address. Anything else we want to put on
- 30:04Speaker 2: the table before we start opening it up to the listeners.
- 30:07Speaker 13: Toyota.
- 30:08Speaker 2: Oh, I'll tell you what though. If you want to
- 30:12Speaker 2: see Toyota's best offers, including those not seen on TV,
- 30:15Speaker 2: go to buy at toyota dot com. It's Toyota's official
- 30:18Speaker 2: website for deals from the official vehicle of the New
- 30:21Speaker 2: England Patriots, Toyota. Let's go places.
- 30:28Speaker 11: I'll talk about some of the rule changes that.
- 30:31Speaker 2: Yeah, no, we can. We can put that on the table.
- 30:33Speaker 2: The hip drop band, Yeah, I don't like that. I
- 30:35Speaker 2: don't like it. I am Here's the thing, you know,
- 30:39Speaker 2: like you can get hurt in football. You know, I
- 30:43Speaker 2: don't see that this type of tackle is any more
- 30:46Speaker 2: dangerous than any others may tell you.
- 30:47Speaker 3: It's twenty five dangerous.
- 30:49Speaker 2: Is that right?
- 30:49Speaker 11: This tackle, this tackle got created because he got yelled
- 30:52Speaker 11: at for going for the head and getting fined in
- 30:54Speaker 11: flat Well.
- 30:54Speaker 2: Also, like if a guy is like a you know,
- 30:57Speaker 2: a yard away from the first down marker not going
- 31:00Speaker 2: to go forward and tackle him, and all of these
- 31:02Speaker 2: automatically got You're going to try to put your weight
- 31:05Speaker 2: back to keep him from getting any more yardage. And
- 31:08Speaker 2: that's the hip tackle. You know, your your body's going
- 31:11Speaker 2: down and backwards instead of forward driving into the guy.
- 31:15Speaker 11: I mean, what do you if you're a defensive back
- 31:17Speaker 11: and you have Derek Henry running at you full speed,
- 31:19Speaker 11: what are you supposed to do at this point?
- 31:22Speaker 2: It's not so much coming at you or chasing. It's
- 31:25Speaker 2: if you're at the side or you're chasing him down.
- 31:27Speaker 2: If you're in pursuit, you're trying to keep him from
- 31:30Speaker 2: getting more yardage.
- 31:32Speaker 3: You know, Well, that to me is the key, the
- 31:34Speaker 3: key one, like if you know just a key. Third down,
- 31:37Speaker 3: there's the sticks. You got to get them down somehow
- 31:40Speaker 3: without moving forward. Is this going to increase now yack
- 31:44Speaker 3: and yards after contact in general? I think this is
- 31:49Speaker 3: going to make it really difficult.
- 31:50Speaker 11: You already saw defenders running to shine Away last year.
- 31:53Speaker 11: Josh Allen against the Steelers. I think was he ran
- 31:55Speaker 11: for like a twenty yard touchdown because nobod wanted to
- 31:57Speaker 11: hit him. You're gonna get fined.
- 31:58Speaker 2: Here's your whole game checks. I don't like this one.
- 32:01Speaker 3: Patriots fans will go to great lengths to take Josh Allen.
- 32:04Speaker 2: I don't like this one. Explain to me the kickoff rule.
- 32:07Speaker 2: What's the new?
- 32:08Speaker 11: It's the XFL one. Paul might know it a bit better.
- 32:11Speaker 11: But the kicker still kicks from the thirty thirty five
- 32:15Speaker 11: and the teams are lined up and you can't move
- 32:18Speaker 11: until the teams are lined up where.
- 32:20Speaker 3: Yeah, so you kick off from your own thirty five
- 32:22Speaker 3: as normal, but the rest of the kickoff team lines
- 32:25Speaker 3: up at the opposing thirty five and five yards away
- 32:31Speaker 3: is the receiving team. Nine of the eleven receiving team.
- 32:34Speaker 2: Yep.
- 32:35Speaker 3: So there's ten potential tacklers, nine blockers, all lined up
- 32:40Speaker 3: within five to ten yards of each other.
- 32:42Speaker 10: Yep.
- 32:42Speaker 3: There are two returners that are back in the so
- 32:45Speaker 3: called landing zone. They have to have two returners. The
- 32:49Speaker 3: ball has to be kicked into on the fly, so
- 32:53Speaker 3: you can't squib it. You have to kick on the
- 32:56Speaker 3: fly into the landing area. Or you could choose to
- 32:59Speaker 3: take a touchback, but touch back goes out if you
- 33:01Speaker 3: fly it out of the end zone. Yeah, it goes
- 33:03Speaker 3: out to the thirty five right, not the twenty five right,
- 33:06Speaker 3: So that's.
- 33:07Speaker 2: Three inches three levels of touchback now, but that's an interesting.
- 33:11Speaker 3: And no one can move until the ball is touched
- 33:14Speaker 3: in the land.
- 33:15Speaker 2: In order to get it at the thirty, you have
- 33:16Speaker 2: to kick it out of the end zone, not into
- 33:19Speaker 2: the end zone. So you can still kick it into
- 33:21Speaker 2: the end zone, right, and.
- 33:22Speaker 3: I believe that's a different level of touch back, right,
- 33:24Speaker 3: and you.
- 33:24Speaker 2: Can take a knee and that would still come out
- 33:26Speaker 2: to the twenty five. H. I don't have the detail
- 33:31Speaker 2: of that because I know the rules specify out of
- 33:34Speaker 2: in my notes.
- 33:35Speaker 11: Yeah, so mething, I think the Super Bowl didn't have
- 33:39Speaker 11: a single kickoff return right like it was getting.
- 33:42Speaker 3: Kickoffs would kickoff returns were down to an all time
- 33:46Speaker 3: low with the you know, the new touchback rules. They
- 33:49Speaker 3: wanted to do something to put the returns back in
- 33:51Speaker 3: the game. If you watch some clips of the XFL,
- 33:54Speaker 3: they show you how it works. The ball is kicked
- 33:57Speaker 3: and you can't the players can't move until it's either
- 34:03Speaker 3: caught in the landing zone or touches down in the
- 34:06Speaker 3: landing zone, which is like the twenty to the to
- 34:10Speaker 3: the goal line. Yeah, you know, so it prevents the
- 34:13Speaker 3: long run ups to you know, to collisions, those coitions.
- 34:17Speaker 2: My prediction, my prediction will be at least in this
- 34:21Speaker 2: first year until teams really kind of there's going to
- 34:24Speaker 2: be a lot of longer returns. I think in this
- 34:27Speaker 2: first year.
- 34:29Speaker 3: Now I don't think that that was the result in
- 34:32Speaker 3: the XFL.
- 34:32Speaker 2: Well then not as good.
- 34:33Speaker 11: They got shut down? Is that COVID year? We got
- 34:37Speaker 11: like three goals like last year. Oh they did it
- 34:40Speaker 11: last year.
- 34:40Speaker 2: Yeah, oh yeah, okay, yeah, all right, we'll see anyway,
- 34:43Speaker 2: that's any other change.
- 34:45Speaker 11: Any other rule changes trade trade, it's not real change.
- 34:49Speaker 11: Trade deadline got pushed back.
- 34:50Speaker 3: Is that official? Yeah, I got pushed back one week,
- 34:53Speaker 3: week nine, so it got pushed back a week. I
- 34:55Speaker 3: think that's a good that's a good alteration. There was
- 34:59Speaker 3: a couple of of things that they want to make
- 35:01Speaker 3: the play clock expiration reviewable, which I don't like.
- 35:05Speaker 2: Oh there is another change on the challenges. Yes, that's
- 35:10Speaker 2: and I like this.
- 35:11Speaker 3: If you if you get them both right, you get
- 35:13Speaker 3: you get a third. That's always been the case. Now
- 35:15Speaker 3: if you get one of the two right, you get
- 35:16Speaker 3: a third.
- 35:17Speaker 2: I like that. You shouldn't be penalized for questioning the
- 35:20Speaker 2: call and being correct. You know you shouldn't lose it.
- 35:23Speaker 3: No, but you only you only lost it if you
- 35:26Speaker 3: were wrong.
- 35:26Speaker 2: Right, that's fine. But if you're right, you lost it
- 35:29Speaker 2: two in the past.
- 35:31Speaker 3: Right now, you get it no matter what right or wrong,
- 35:34Speaker 3: I can't. You just can't be wrong twice.
- 35:36Speaker 2: I thought you had to be right to get it back.
- 35:38Speaker 3: No, all right, anyway, No, No, you used to get
- 35:41Speaker 3: a third one, so you're allowed everybody's everybody's allowed two challenges.
- 35:46Speaker 2: That's correct.
- 35:46Speaker 3: If you get them both right before this year, if
- 35:48Speaker 3: you got them both right, you got to do your
- 35:50Speaker 3: awarded a third. Now if you get one right and
- 35:54Speaker 3: one wrong, you're awarded a third. Yeah, that's what we need.
- 35:57Speaker 3: More stop it, just more replay awesome, No, we need
- 35:59Speaker 3: better refs. That and they do agree with more better refs.
- 36:05Speaker 2: And the other thing I like that they change is
- 36:07Speaker 2: now roughing the quarterback can be reviewed. I did not that.
- 36:12Speaker 11: Yeah, I like that needs to be done because there's
- 36:14Speaker 11: some bad ones that happens to the pats too.
- 36:16Speaker 2: Yeah, so grounding, intentional grounding in quarterback roughing can now
- 36:22Speaker 2: be reviewed.
- 36:23Speaker 11: Trusting Okay, did they fix the play clock yet?
- 36:26Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 36:26Speaker 11: I heard rumors of a buzzer being added or a
- 36:28Speaker 11: tenth of.
- 36:29Speaker 3: The I just I kind of liked what they did.
- 36:32Speaker 3: I just I and I understand that the inconsistency of
- 36:36Speaker 3: the way it's it's sort of ruled is the problem.
- 36:41Speaker 3: But I think with the line of thought several years ago,
- 36:44Speaker 3: when they changed the timing rules, and it was immediately
- 36:47Speaker 3: after a play the forty second clock starts, they wanted
- 36:49Speaker 3: to get the games over in three hours. Remember Fred, Yeah,
- 36:52Speaker 3: but you know, Fred and I are old enough to
- 36:53Speaker 3: remember when the games used to go on it, right,
- 36:57Speaker 3: So now they're very conscious of those those TV and
- 37:00Speaker 3: getting games in in three hours, So they change the
- 37:03Speaker 3: timing rules, and I think as a result of that,
- 37:05Speaker 3: there was sort of an unwritten sort of agreement. You know,
- 37:08Speaker 3: if if it's really really close to you know, if
- 37:11Speaker 3: it's zero, snap, we're not gonna call delay a game
- 37:14Speaker 3: every time. We're gonna let that little leeway. But what
- 37:17Speaker 3: happens is it's zero one two hot snap, you know.
- 37:24Speaker 3: And now you know, I think they're trying to uniform
- 37:26Speaker 3: it a little bit. And I think if they go
- 37:30Speaker 3: letter of the law every time that clock goes to zero,
- 37:32Speaker 3: it's the lay a game. I think that'll be a
- 37:34Speaker 3: bad thing. Yeah, I think that it's good that they
- 37:36Speaker 3: give them a little leeway on that. They just have
- 37:38Speaker 3: to be a little bit more consistent.
- 37:40Speaker 2: And it's like the reps and basketball doing the five second.
- 37:42Speaker 3: He's like one, yeah, two right, and you know, yeah,
- 37:48Speaker 3: it's like that the ten second to get it over
- 37:50Speaker 3: half court. What saves them is, you know, one guy
- 37:53Speaker 3: would be like one, two, three and right. But now
- 37:56Speaker 3: that the shot clock, you will line it up with
- 37:57Speaker 3: the shot clock in the NBA it's eight seconds, so
- 38:00Speaker 3: you it's hard for the ref to say, no, no, no,
- 38:02Speaker 3: I had that at eight. Well, there's like twenty seconds
- 38:04Speaker 3: on the shock clock. You didn't have that at eight seconds, right,
- 38:07Speaker 3: you know?
- 38:07Speaker 2: All right again A five to five past five hundred
- 38:10Speaker 2: is the A sticket houtline web radio at paches dot
- 38:12Speaker 2: com is the email address. I see people on the phones,
- 38:16Speaker 2: but there's no but no names written in Jules Oh.
- 38:20Speaker 2: Line one is Tim from Stowe. All right, Hey Tim
- 38:22Speaker 2: from Stowe? What's up?
- 38:25Speaker 15: Hey?
- 38:25Speaker 17: I just want to talk about the draft for a
- 38:28Speaker 17: second as it relates to the Calvin Ridley.
- 38:31Speaker 2: Sure, okay, so I read.
- 38:37Speaker 9: It.
- 38:37Speaker 17: I'm Bleacher Report that a big factor for Robert Craft
- 38:41Speaker 17: is that TB situation played.
- 38:44Speaker 15: At the goal.
- 38:47Speaker 2: Yeah, he mentioned that. He said there could be a
- 38:48Speaker 2: lot of situation, a lot of factors. One of them
- 38:51Speaker 2: could be we don't know who our QB is. Yeah,
- 38:54Speaker 2: he said that. Yeah, what do you think?
- 38:56Speaker 17: And I think, well, I've heard a lot of people say,
- 39:00Speaker 17: you know, we should trade down, Like I read Concerns
- 39:03Speaker 17: article yesterday about trading down an accumulating picks, and I
- 39:08Speaker 17: just against it in the sense that when you look
- 39:13Speaker 17: down the road and you look at the quarterback next year,
- 39:18Speaker 17: they're not that great. I'm sure somebody could come up,
- 39:22Speaker 17: but somebody might not and why take that chance? And
- 39:27Speaker 17: I think, you know, Deon Sanders kid.
- 39:30Speaker 2: Yeah, but Tim, the only reason you should be against
- 39:34Speaker 2: trading down is because you like Drake May and Jayden Daniels.
- 39:38Speaker 2: That's the only reason why you should be against it.
- 39:40Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm with Tim.
- 39:41Speaker 17: I don't think you're gonna My point is this, I
- 39:46Speaker 17: don't think you're going to get those quarterbacks and in
- 39:49Speaker 17: next year's draft, and now you're just right now it's
- 39:52Speaker 17: a two year thing to find the quarterback. Well, but again,
- 39:55Speaker 17: bands of orientatient Again.
- 39:58Speaker 2: Forget about next year. If you like one of those two,
- 40:01Speaker 2: if you like those two guys, you should take one
- 40:04Speaker 2: of those two guys, because like you said with you, Fred,
- 40:07Speaker 2: they're not going to be there next year.
- 40:08Speaker 3: And Tim, it's not about liking them like it's not
- 40:12Speaker 3: about liking Drake May more than the guys who will
- 40:14Speaker 3: be available next year. It's liking Drake May enough to
- 40:17Speaker 3: take him at three.
- 40:18Speaker 2: That's it. That's it.
- 40:19Speaker 3: And I agree with Fred. I do I like Daniels
- 40:22Speaker 3: and May. That's why this this JJ McCarthy nonsense about
- 40:26Speaker 3: that that could be great for the Patriots. Yeah, because
- 40:28Speaker 3: now it gives you an option that you didn't have.
- 40:31Speaker 3: But I would I would take I would take him.
- 40:34Speaker 3: Like Mayo said on Monday, you know, if we take
- 40:38Speaker 3: a quarterback at three, that means we're convicted in that pick.
- 40:41Speaker 11: It's big investment. If you like him, take him, you're
- 40:43Speaker 11: at three. You hope you're not here again. Take him?
- 40:46Speaker 2: Yeah, Now, I will say, but I have to I
- 40:48Speaker 2: have to like him enough to take Yeah.
- 40:49Speaker 11: I agree.
- 40:50Speaker 2: Now I will say, people looking ahead to next year
- 40:52Speaker 2: and they, oh, the quarterbacks an't gonna be good. I
- 40:53Speaker 2: guarantee you there will be a quarterback this in twenty
- 40:56Speaker 2: twenty four in college will have a great year and
- 40:59Speaker 2: he will rise up and all of a sudden he'll
- 41:01Speaker 2: be regarded every bit as much as Jayden Daniels is
- 41:04Speaker 2: this year.
- 41:04Speaker 3: I'm going to take your bet.
- 41:06Speaker 2: Okay, you don't think a quarterback will rise?
- 41:08Speaker 3: No, Okay, well someone might rise, but it won't be
- 41:10Speaker 3: like really good.
- 41:12Speaker 10: Okay, yeah I don't.
- 41:13Speaker 2: I'll bet you. I'll take that bet.
- 41:16Speaker 17: The last thing I wanted to say, and I'll get off,
- 41:18Speaker 17: is just but my point is that I think both
- 41:22Speaker 17: of those guys are worth the third pick. And I
- 41:25Speaker 17: think it's insanity that what people are saying about Drake
- 41:29Speaker 17: Man if you watched him last year, not that the past,
- 41:33Speaker 17: even that the twenty two to twenty three season. I mean,
- 41:38Speaker 17: it is just so clear that that guy is in
- 41:41Speaker 17: the week town and thinking that he's not worth the
- 41:46Speaker 17: third pick is mind boggling to me. That's insanity.
- 41:53Speaker 2: Yeah, and that's why you would take him, and why
- 41:56Speaker 2: you should take him, and you and you.
- 41:57Speaker 3: Would absolutely be convicted in the pick. Yeah, yeah, And
- 42:00Speaker 3: I don't think you're wrong. I just think that there's
- 42:02Speaker 3: a lot of people in as you know, I'm keeping track.
- 42:06Speaker 3: There's a lot of people disagree. A lot of people
- 42:08Speaker 3: think that Drake May can't play.
- 42:09Speaker 11: He's spot on because I mean before Jane Daniels really
- 42:12Speaker 11: hit the scene this year, it was really May and
- 42:14Speaker 11: Williams one and two.
- 42:15Speaker 3: We didn't know what you Jon Daniels is the example
- 42:17Speaker 3: of what Fred's talking about. I don't think that happens
- 42:19Speaker 3: every year. Yeah, it didn't happen the year before that.
- 42:22Speaker 2: It happens more and more.
- 42:24Speaker 3: Kenny Pickett was the only guy taken in the first round.
- 42:26Speaker 11: He did not available the draft. The media loves to
- 42:30Speaker 11: hype up quarterbacks, especially when there's no quarterbacks in the class.
- 42:34Speaker 11: And look what happened with the Malik Willis yere.
- 42:36Speaker 2: Jules who's online? Three? All right, Jasper, you're up?
- 42:42Speaker 9: Hey, what's up?
- 42:43Speaker 18: Guys?
- 42:43Speaker 6: Hey, I'm hearing myself from this little feedback. Sorry for
- 42:49Speaker 6: making uh these lean years tolerable.
- 42:53Speaker 3: Uh.
- 42:54Speaker 6: I wanted to ask just the question about little short
- 42:58Speaker 6: term speculation.
- 43:02Speaker 19: Uh.
- 43:02Speaker 6: You know how Phil is kind of famous for being
- 43:05Speaker 6: ahead of the curve with personnel maybe play calling. Do
- 43:11Speaker 6: you see or what do you think is like kind
- 43:14Speaker 6: of next fun new thing the next two to three
- 43:18Speaker 6: years it's going to take the lead by surprise. I
- 43:20Speaker 6: just want to hear your thoughts, okay, and I didn't
- 43:23Speaker 6: want to do it.
- 43:24Speaker 2: Okay, and you'll do it offline.
- 43:25Speaker 3: What about a draft question?
- 43:26Speaker 11: Oh sorry, do you mean like GB like the Wildcat
- 43:31Speaker 11: fifteen years ago or whatever it was?
- 43:33Speaker 2: Oh? Yeah, I mean, like, what do you think? What
- 43:35Speaker 2: do you think is the latest thing that took the
- 43:38Speaker 2: league by storm before we you know, venture to guess
- 43:41Speaker 2: what will be?
- 43:42Speaker 9: What?
- 43:43Speaker 18: What what is?
- 43:43Speaker 2: I think it's I think for the NFL, I think
- 43:46Speaker 2: it's the mobile court, right, guys who can extend plays
- 43:50Speaker 2: and throw off plain.
- 43:51Speaker 3: And he was thinking of like things like strategy wise
- 43:54Speaker 3: that you don't see that you know, come into play.
- 43:59Speaker 3: You're talking about a style.
- 44:00Speaker 11: Of just like a thing that took over I'd say
- 44:03Speaker 11: moble quarterbacks too. It was like the I think Rogers
- 44:06Speaker 11: kind of started at just the pocket passer and scrambling
- 44:09Speaker 11: outside them.
- 44:09Speaker 3: Because I was going to ask, but the last thing,
- 44:12Speaker 3: like you know, he said, Bill was ahead of the
- 44:14Speaker 3: curve with personnel and play calling. What's going to be
- 44:16Speaker 3: the next thing? I was going to ask what the
- 44:18Speaker 3: last thing was? But you guys are taking it and
- 44:20Speaker 3: I think you're right, like the mobile quarterback who can throw,
- 44:24Speaker 3: you know, the more dual threat guys seemed to be. Yeah,
- 44:28Speaker 3: definitely more in vogue now than they were ten years ago.
- 44:31Speaker 11: Yeah, i'd say that. And then the tight ends that
- 44:34Speaker 11: are pretty much just receivers Travis Kelcey.
- 44:37Speaker 2: Well, I mean that's been going on for a while.
- 44:41Speaker 2: I think there might be more of them now, but like, yeah,
- 44:44Speaker 2: Russ Francis, Tony Gonzalez.
- 44:46Speaker 3: Francis could block. Don't make fun of the Patriots. Yeah,
- 44:49Speaker 3: don't make fun of Patriots guys. Yeah, every once in
- 44:51Speaker 3: a while, we'll get mad at you on social Right now,
- 44:54Speaker 3: so what's.
- 44:54Speaker 2: The next thing? What do you what do you what?
- 44:56Speaker 2: You know, if you're looking ahead at evolution of the game,
- 44:59Speaker 2: what do you think is the next.
- 45:01Speaker 12: I thought it was so funny after our game that
- 45:05Speaker 12: schooler kind of jumped the line. Everyone was like, oh
- 45:07Speaker 12: my god, this is going to revolutionize special teams now,
- 45:10Speaker 12: and then it just didn't happen.
- 45:11Speaker 2: It was just that one moment. Now, do you have
- 45:15Speaker 2: in order to really see the future, do you have
- 45:17Speaker 2: to look at college or even you know, pop, you know,
- 45:21Speaker 2: even high school? Do you have to look at what's
- 45:23Speaker 2: going on there to kind of figure out what might
- 45:26Speaker 2: happen with the pros, because that's where the talent's coming from.
- 45:29Speaker 3: I think there's some truth to that, and I would
- 45:31Speaker 3: put things like the smaller mobile linebackers. You know, it's
- 45:37Speaker 3: kind of a thing that you saw in college. It's
- 45:39Speaker 3: like two hundred and thirty pound linebackers, which you never
- 45:42Speaker 3: would have seen ten years ago, fifteen years ago. Now
- 45:45Speaker 3: there's more guys like that, you know, bro Kwon Smith,
- 45:48Speaker 3: Patrick Queen, you know, those kinds of guys that are
- 45:51Speaker 3: a little bit yep undersized for the position, but they
- 45:55Speaker 3: get by because well, who was athletic?
- 45:57Speaker 2: Who was I I heard on the radio, I forget
- 46:00Speaker 2: which station, was a former player and he was saying
- 46:03Speaker 2: that a lot of the former players now that have
- 46:07Speaker 2: kids or even grandkids that are playing and they're really
- 46:11Speaker 2: good athletes, they're telling them, don't be a receiver, be
- 46:14Speaker 2: a cornerback, you know, because you go to these camps
- 46:18Speaker 2: and they'll be like twenty kids trying to be a receiver,
- 46:21Speaker 2: and there's five kids that want to be cornerback, and
- 46:24Speaker 2: there's a lot if you're really good, there's a lot
- 46:27Speaker 2: better chance for you to make it as a cornerback
- 46:30Speaker 2: numbers wise than a wide receiver these days, So a
- 46:32Speaker 2: lot that's interesting. You hear that your clinic, No, no, no,
- 46:35Speaker 2: I heard it on the radio. So like Sante Samuel's,
- 46:37Speaker 2: you know, like a lot of these sons and grandsons
- 46:41Speaker 2: of players are cornerbacks these days. Interesting, you know, because
- 46:45Speaker 2: their their father is smart and you get more reps.
- 46:48Speaker 3: Yeah, that's interesting. I mean those guys I'm thinking of
- 46:52Speaker 3: like Winfield Senie, but those their fathers were defensive backs too.
- 46:55Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 46:55Speaker 11: I keep going back to the hip drop tackle. I
- 46:58Speaker 11: just want to see how that's going to change, how
- 46:59Speaker 11: defense is well prepared. I guarantee it's gonna be was
- 47:03Speaker 11: that a hip drop or wasn't it a hip drop? So,
- 47:05Speaker 11: and there'll be a whole thing about interpreting what is it.
- 47:08Speaker 3: I think that's a great point. Like I've watched they
- 47:10Speaker 3: put out film, you know, there's a lot of reels
- 47:14Speaker 3: of these hits, and I'm and I'm like looking, I
- 47:17Speaker 3: was like, what's the difference between that one? And like
- 47:19Speaker 3: they're supposedly showing you good and bad. Yeah, And I'm like,
- 47:21Speaker 3: I don't really see a lot of difference of.
- 47:23Speaker 11: The screen grab of what they showed at the owners meeting,
- 47:25Speaker 11: be like this is banned now, and I'm like, that
- 47:27Speaker 11: is a form tackle. So what are we gonna do here?
- 47:30Speaker 3: Can't hit them high, can't hit them low, can't hit
- 47:32Speaker 3: him in the middle.
- 47:33Speaker 11: And then play somebody's somebody is gonna blow their knee
- 47:36Speaker 11: out like Hawkinson did, and the player is gonna ge
- 47:39Speaker 11: labeled a dirty player, and then that defender is gonna
- 47:41Speaker 11: be like, what am I supposed to do?
- 47:42Speaker 2: The next one is you can't pull from the pants
- 47:44Speaker 2: from behind because you might show his ass. Get this,
- 47:47Speaker 2: get the flags. I know.
- 47:49Speaker 3: So that's a point on the NFL side. The horse collar. Yeah,
- 47:54Speaker 3: I mean that that was a human cry.
- 47:56Speaker 2: Yeah, absolutely, I can't understand that one.
- 47:58Speaker 3: But but at the time, everybody's like, what are you
- 48:00Speaker 3: going to do. You're chasing the guy down, you can't grab.
- 48:03Speaker 3: But I think when you start stacking these things together. Yeah,
- 48:08Speaker 3: So they said that's a dangerous play. You grab a
- 48:10Speaker 3: guy by the name plate, you pull him backwards. It
- 48:13Speaker 3: was causing leg problems, ankle injuries, high ankle sprains. Right,
- 48:17Speaker 3: So we took that out. Now, what's your recourse if
- 48:21Speaker 3: you're chasing the guy from behind? You it's a shoe
- 48:23Speaker 3: string tackle and that's it. I just have to dive
- 48:25Speaker 3: and hope that I trip him. And to your point,
- 48:28Speaker 3: if I do trip him, when I'm successful, the guy's
- 48:30Speaker 3: getting six extra yards because he's stumbling forward. And you know,
- 48:35Speaker 3: so I have no chance to tackle him for no
- 48:37Speaker 3: more yards than he's already gotten. But the horse callar
- 48:42Speaker 3: thing was definitely big, you know again, Fred, and I
- 48:45Speaker 3: rolled enough to remember when this was enacted, like in
- 48:47Speaker 3: O five ish, everybody was like, this is gonna be ridiculous.
- 48:52Speaker 3: It's gonna be penalty, and they adjusted. They figured it out.
- 48:55Speaker 3: My guess is they'll figure this out too. I just
- 48:58Speaker 3: wonder how you're ever going to tackle anybody.
- 49:00Speaker 11: I also wonder how they're going to enforce it, such like,
- 49:03Speaker 11: all right, split a split second decision for the defender,
- 49:05Speaker 11: it's also for the ref So I hope.
- 49:07Speaker 3: There sounds like their planners to enforce it in during
- 49:10Speaker 3: the week with fines, not necessarily with flags.
- 49:14Speaker 2: Oh yeah, all right, let's get to some of these emails.
- 49:20Speaker 2: Let's see the lot of emails come in. In a
- 49:22Speaker 2: lot of emails, Lee says, thank you especially to Paul
- 49:28Speaker 2: for pointing out the ridiculous hyping of each signing. It
- 49:31Speaker 2: struck me last year that nearly everyone said trading Myers
- 49:35Speaker 2: to the Raiders and replacing him with Juju was an upgrade.
- 49:38Speaker 2: I think even on the show some tried to say
- 49:40Speaker 2: it was a small upgrade. And I couldn't understand why
- 49:43Speaker 2: we do this when Myers knew the system. Other than
- 49:46Speaker 2: him speaking out seemed to be the reason to let
- 49:48Speaker 2: him leave. Can you explain the international path so this
- 49:52Speaker 2: is a separate thing. First, So, so he's just thanking
- 49:56Speaker 2: Paul in the first one.
- 49:58Speaker 3: I mean, I think more people should do that.
- 49:59Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 50:00Speaker 2: Second question is, can you explain the international pathway for me?
- 50:03Speaker 2: And how teams select players? Is it separate to the draft?
- 50:07Speaker 2: Would we have to pick three players trying to find
- 50:10Speaker 2: a team that will open a spot for them? Now,
- 50:13Speaker 2: I think the league identifies certain players that they assigned
- 50:18Speaker 2: to a team. The team puts them on like I
- 50:22Speaker 2: think they at least have to put them on the
- 50:24Speaker 2: practice squad.
- 50:25Speaker 11: There's something with the roster spot, right.
- 50:27Speaker 3: Yeah, for two years, it doesn't count against Yeah, but
- 50:31Speaker 3: if you make the team it counts.
- 50:33Speaker 2: Yeah, and then you can you know after two years,
- 50:36Speaker 2: you know, for two years, it doesn't count, and then
- 50:38Speaker 2: after two years you can elect to keep them. Or
- 50:41Speaker 2: we had John's we signed it. He played after that,
- 50:44Speaker 2: he earned, you know, a legitimate roster squad.
- 50:47Speaker 11: There are two rugby players from Fiji. I think that
- 50:50Speaker 11: are making some noise. So yeah, that's probably where it
- 50:53Speaker 11: comes up from.
- 50:53Speaker 3: This is my life. Rugby players from Fiji.
- 50:57Speaker 11: They know to tackle, though well, I don't know.
- 51:00Speaker 1: It might not.
- 51:01Speaker 2: Travis in West Virginia I wrote in last week complaining
- 51:04Speaker 2: that every show is the same because you just keep
- 51:06Speaker 2: talking about the same subjects over and over. That is
- 51:10Speaker 2: groundhog Day. The best part is that Fred actually read
- 51:12Speaker 2: my email and offered an explanation, was quite gracious about it.
- 51:16Speaker 2: You could have just told me to f off or
- 51:18Speaker 2: not even read the email in the first place. So
- 51:20Speaker 2: I really appreciate it. I'm glad you just h just
- 51:24Speaker 2: don't read the butt kissing emails, you know. Yeah, like I,
- 51:27Speaker 2: we're talking about the draft a lot. Yeah there's a
- 51:29Speaker 2: lot because we have the third pick. We haven't had that.
- 51:32Speaker 3: But do you feel I'm not suggesting that we shouldn't
- 51:36Speaker 3: be talking about it, because obviously that's the number one thing,
- 51:39Speaker 3: But don't you feel like there's a little bit of
- 51:41Speaker 3: like fatigue on that, like are they going to take
- 51:45Speaker 3: the quarterback? Well, if they like the one, yeah, which one?
- 51:48Speaker 3: Which one do you like?
- 51:49Speaker 2: We do get asked the same question over and over again,
- 51:52Speaker 2: and I get it.
- 51:53Speaker 3: I do too. It's just it makes for I think, yeah,
- 51:56Speaker 3: kind of some the not least.
- 51:57Speaker 11: Shows some new stuff's coming up, because like the airs
- 52:00Speaker 11: got rid of field, so Caleb's locked in there and
- 52:02Speaker 11: now we got JJ McCarthy rising up to the top.
- 52:05Speaker 3: So that might but to me, it's all the same,
- 52:08Speaker 3: which quarterback do you like? Which one do you think?
- 52:10Speaker 13: Quarter favorite the season?
- 52:12Speaker 3: I don't know, It's not like that all the time.
- 52:14Speaker 3: It's exciting to have the third pick, but I think
- 52:17Speaker 3: the excitement is which quarterback are you going to take?
- 52:21Speaker 3: And now at this point it's can we just get
- 52:23Speaker 3: to April Weeber and pick one?
- 52:24Speaker 2: It's twelve fifty two, so I think we've talked about
- 52:27Speaker 2: draft for like five minutes so far this show. I
- 52:29Speaker 2: mean we've talked about it.
- 52:30Speaker 3: What I'm talking about. This has been our show since November. Yeah, okay,
- 52:34Speaker 3: And like that's like you will making.
- 52:35Speaker 2: Fun of me, Welcome to four and thirteen.
- 52:37Speaker 3: But fred, I didn't say that we should have a
- 52:40Speaker 3: different show. We shouldn't. I mean, this is like, this
- 52:43Speaker 3: is our show, like we have the third pick. Robert
- 52:46Speaker 3: Kraft has made it at that comment many times. They've
- 52:49Speaker 3: never been in this spot. Yeah, like, so what else
- 52:52Speaker 3: are you going to talk about other than what are
- 52:54Speaker 3: you going to do with the third overall pick? Ron,
- 52:56Speaker 3: I feel like it has been a little monotonous.
- 52:59Speaker 2: Ron and Conway knew Hampshire as I listened to your
- 53:01Speaker 2: show today. I as a forty plus year old fan
- 53:06Speaker 2: or forty plus year fan, not forty year old. He's
- 53:08Speaker 2: been a fan for over forty years, and one of
- 53:10Speaker 2: the fans who is anxious to see what this year brings.
- 53:13Speaker 2: In fact, I haven't been this excited since nineteen ninety three.
- 53:17Speaker 2: I agree all this negativity for media people like Greg
- 53:21Speaker 2: Bernard Felger, Maz and a few more too, is downright disrespectful.
- 53:26Speaker 2: I'm not saying that no one's opinion doesn't matter, but
- 53:30Speaker 2: you kind of are. But geez, it's a total freaking
- 53:33Speaker 2: rebuild from the ground up. Take a friggin pill and relax.
- 53:37Speaker 2: As far as being a disaster, that's a force we
- 53:39Speaker 2: haven't even assembled an entire team. Yet it's crap like
- 53:43Speaker 2: this that causes certain media journalists. I'm a bad put
- 53:49Speaker 2: to put them in a bad light. I don't know.
- 53:51Speaker 2: And as far as Mayo, he's speaking like a player,
- 53:53Speaker 2: not a coach, simply because he's never done it anyway,
- 53:56Speaker 2: just my opinion, which matters little. I'm not sure Fred,
- 53:59Speaker 2: how you, Paul Evan and Douce and your entire crew
- 54:02Speaker 2: of the show do it every day. As far as
- 54:04Speaker 2: free agents, to be honest, free agents want either big
- 54:07Speaker 2: money or big chasers or both. Ridlely didn't want to
- 54:10Speaker 2: be here for total rebuild. Have a great day, Okay,
- 54:15Speaker 2: that's fine, Todd says, labeling the team of disaster as
- 54:20Speaker 2: this subject line. The media will talk this way because
- 54:23Speaker 2: negativity sells, gets ratings, and sparks opinions and responses. On
- 54:27Speaker 2: the talk shows very rarely talk extensively. They I do
- 54:32Speaker 2: know something about when things are good. You got to
- 54:35Speaker 2: proofread your emails.
- 54:36Speaker 3: I would tell people to go back to like the
- 54:38Speaker 3: mid two thousands and tell me the ratings compared to
- 54:40Speaker 3: now when they were winning the titles on every sport, right,
- 54:46Speaker 3: don't tell me negativity is the only thing that sells right.
- 54:50Speaker 2: Well, back then it was defend the wall. No, but
- 54:53Speaker 2: I'm just saying, oh, you attack anyone that comes after.
- 54:55Speaker 3: The ratings in this area for sports are enormous. Yeah,
- 54:59Speaker 3: this is a very passionate sports base. Positive negative in between.
- 55:03Speaker 3: It's people don't think that, you know, and I'm not
- 55:07Speaker 3: speaking for everybody, Like maybe Andrew Callahan. I didn't Evidently
- 55:10Speaker 3: he wrote something today it's really negative because I heard
- 55:14Speaker 3: from somebody within the organization asking me if I had
- 55:16Speaker 3: seen it. I didn't, so I'm not aware of what
- 55:19Speaker 3: he wrote. Maybe he does it for what Alex is saying,
- 55:22Speaker 3: you know, maybe he's looking to get that negative reaction
- 55:24Speaker 3: and he's trying to play that role.
- 55:27Speaker 2: But well, you can talk.
- 55:28Speaker 12: About when days when times were good and the ratings
- 55:31Speaker 12: were great too, but like we've never had really up
- 55:35Speaker 12: and since like what twenty fourteen ish, where narratives can
- 55:39Speaker 12: really be created on social media and like a lot
- 55:42Speaker 12: of people they just read what they see on Twitter
- 55:44Speaker 12: and that's what they think is going on with the team.
- 55:47Speaker 12: Less people are actually reading full stories.
- 55:50Speaker 3: Less people are like that that I coheartedly agree with,
- 55:53Speaker 3: because people, I think are despite the fact that more
- 55:57Speaker 3: and more information is available, Yes, people, and formed than ever.
- 56:01Speaker 13: It's never been more dumbed down for people.
- 56:04Speaker 2: Hi, thanks to bring it up. Hey Patriots fans.

- 57:42Speaker 3: What's up?
- 57:43Speaker 2: Everybody?
- 57:43Speaker 12: Head coach Gerardmeo address the media yesterday at the NFL's
- 57:47Speaker 12: annual league meetings in Orlando.
- 57:49Speaker 2: Let's hear what he had to say, fire.
- 57:51Speaker 10: Away, Maybe just start with that.
- 57:54Speaker 2: I mean, is there a clarity that you would begin.
- 57:57Speaker 10: With you will begin with? Is free agency?
- 58:02Speaker 20: Obviously the media of the fans, everyone wants that big uh,
- 58:07Speaker 20: that big signing. But at the same time, as we
- 58:08Speaker 20: continue to put this team together, I think there's there
- 58:11Speaker 20: has to be a process. It has to be a
- 58:13Speaker 20: methodical process. And look, when when there is a guy
- 58:16Speaker 20: that we want to get the Crafts have already told us,
- 58:20Speaker 20: like they'll spend a minute, and I would say offensively,
- 58:23Speaker 20: this year, we were very picky as far as the
- 58:26Speaker 20: players that we were as far as the players that
- 58:28Speaker 20: we were getting. Uh And at the same time, that
- 58:30Speaker 20: wasn't really a deep offensive free agent class even make
- 58:34Speaker 20: that type of splash.
- 58:35Speaker 10: Now what I'm saying that there, you know, the draft
- 58:37Speaker 10: is coming up.
- 58:38Speaker 20: There will still be conversations as far as trades and
- 58:41Speaker 20: things like that, and guys will be released.
- 58:44Speaker 3: Uh.
- 58:44Speaker 10: So this is a process that's gonna go on all
- 58:46Speaker 10: the way until.
- 58:46Speaker 2: After the draft.
- 58:50Speaker 21: Is it frustrating all to have the conversation, well, we're
- 58:53Speaker 21: gonna do a number of things to weaponize the office,
- 58:56Speaker 21: and then get to the store and say, well, the
- 58:58Speaker 21: shelves aren't really stuck with the things we need.
- 59:00Speaker 20: Yeah, it is frustrating, But at the same time, I
- 59:02Speaker 20: think one of the number one priorities we had was
- 59:05Speaker 20: to sign our players back. And I think, you know,
- 59:07Speaker 20: it's not a popular pick to sign an offensive lineman
- 59:09Speaker 20: to a big deal, but at the same time, he's
- 59:11Speaker 20: a critical piece.
- 59:12Speaker 10: To our team.
- 59:14Speaker 20: But we want to take care of our own and
- 59:15Speaker 20: I think that was really the strategy going into it.
- 59:18Speaker 20: We did have targets that we wanted that it just
- 59:21Speaker 20: didn't work out. But when it's all said and done,
- 59:23Speaker 20: we want guys that want to be a part of
- 59:25Speaker 20: this process, want to be a part of the next
- 59:27Speaker 20: chapter in New England history.
- 59:30Speaker 3: A lot of people would have.
- 59:32Speaker 10: Sort of clung onto your statement about burning some cash.
- 59:35Speaker 20: Do you regret that? No, I don't regret it. Look,
- 59:39Speaker 20: I'm a first year head coach. I didn't mean like,
- 59:41Speaker 20: burn some cash. I know we have a lot of
- 59:43Speaker 20: cash to utilize, but we are going to utilize it
- 59:46Speaker 20: the right way. We have to be very convicted when
- 59:50Speaker 20: we do spend that cash. But ownership has done a
- 59:53Speaker 20: good job just letting Elliott and I know that we
- 59:56Speaker 20: have the cash to spend, just try to spend it smart.
- 1:00:01Speaker 9: Good.
- 1:00:03Speaker 15: When you look at your team, do you consider it
- 1:00:07Speaker 15: a four win team or Bill ourselves would say you
- 1:00:12Speaker 15: are what your record says you are.
- 1:00:15Speaker 10: Yeah, you know, honestly, this team is gonna look different
- 1:00:17Speaker 10: than last year's team, even though even if you were
- 1:00:19Speaker 10: to look.
- 1:00:20Speaker 20: At last year, I would say there were opportunities to
- 1:00:23Speaker 20: win more than four games and we just fell short.
- 1:00:26Speaker 10: Look, we'll see as the team continues to come together.
- 1:00:29Speaker 20: How many wins, I can't give you a prediction on
- 1:00:31Speaker 20: how many wins we'll have, but what I will say
- 1:00:33Speaker 20: is that we'll put a competitive team out there on
- 1:00:35Speaker 20: the field and look not only on the field, but
- 1:00:38Speaker 20: also off the field.
- 1:00:39Speaker 10: And that's what we're trying to do here.
- 1:00:40Speaker 3: And the man, when you look the roster, it looks
- 1:00:42Speaker 3: like there's still some needs a quarterback, tack on, wide receiver.
- 1:00:46Speaker 3: Are you confident you guys can still fill those before
- 1:00:48Speaker 3: the season.
- 1:00:51Speaker 20: I'm confident that yeah, we can absolutely fill those roles.
- 1:00:55Speaker 20: And saying that though it's gonna take time, it's gonna
- 1:00:58Speaker 20: take time. Look our philosophy as far as putting this
- 1:01:01Speaker 20: this roster together, Look, you want to draft and develop.
- 1:01:05Speaker 10: When it's all said and done, you want to draft
- 1:01:07Speaker 10: and develop. And I have one hundred percent of confidence and.
- 1:01:09Speaker 20: Elliott and his staff weaponizing the offense and really getting
- 1:01:13Speaker 20: us better as an overall team. I know everyone wants
- 1:01:16Speaker 20: to talk about the offense, but one thing that you
- 1:01:18Speaker 20: guys have heard from BB and that I've learned from
- 1:01:21Speaker 20: Bill was you know, just that all three phases are
- 1:01:23Speaker 20: very important, and playing that complimentary football is definitely something
- 1:01:27Speaker 20: that Elliott understands.
- 1:01:28Speaker 10: I understand and the rest.
- 1:01:29Speaker 2: Of the staff. How many pressure at this draft class?
- 1:01:32Speaker 10: Talking about filling needs.
- 1:01:33Speaker 2: You know, left tack will receive a quarterback.
- 1:01:35Speaker 4: Those are three big needs that can be tough to fill.
- 1:01:38Speaker 2: You know how much pressure is on this twenty four class.
- 1:01:41Speaker 20: Honestly, I don't feel those three positions that you just
- 1:01:43Speaker 20: spoke of. I would say this draft has quite a
- 1:01:46Speaker 20: few guys that can fill those roles. And look, we
- 1:01:49Speaker 20: had we sit at a very enviable spot at number
- 1:01:52Speaker 20: three where we could take someone at three or you know,
- 1:01:56Speaker 20: if someone offers a bag, as we would say, you
- 1:01:59Speaker 20: know a lot, you know, a lot of first round picks.
- 1:02:01Speaker 20: We definitely have to, you know, talk about those things
- 1:02:03Speaker 20: as we continue to put together this team.
- 1:02:06Speaker 10: You said it, there are holes on this team.
- 1:02:08Speaker 20: But also but I would also say there will be
- 1:02:10Speaker 20: people available going forward to feel those own.
- 1:02:14Speaker 3: Sorry, so just to confirm you guys that are open
- 1:02:15Speaker 3: to trading number three and Elliott not being here, does
- 1:02:19Speaker 3: that complicate matters all?
- 1:02:20Speaker 10: The crazy thing? Look, we are open, We're open to
- 1:02:24Speaker 10: you know, trading the pick. We're open to taking a
- 1:02:26Speaker 10: guy there. And look, the crazy thing is there we
- 1:02:28Speaker 10: have telephones. At this point, Elliott didn't come because he's
- 1:02:31Speaker 10: doing a lot of work back home.
- 1:02:33Speaker 20: And I don't say that to be disrespectful, but what
- 1:02:35Speaker 20: I would say is, uh, he's he's doing a lot.
- 1:02:38Speaker 20: He's working, and his staff is working through the weekends,
- 1:02:42Speaker 20: and honestly, I would rather be doing that than be
- 1:02:44Speaker 20: sitting here.
- 1:02:45Speaker 22: When you look at how Max's tenure with the Patriots ended,
- 1:02:49Speaker 22: what did you learn from that experience and what sort
- 1:02:52Speaker 22: of things will you apply as you look forward to
- 1:02:54Speaker 22: potentially dropping another order?
- 1:02:56Speaker 20: Yeah, you know, you know, mac Jones came in, UH
- 1:02:59Speaker 20: had a lot of success early on. We always talk
- 1:03:03Speaker 20: about that jump from year one to year two and
- 1:03:05Speaker 20: how significant uh that year is or that bridge is
- 1:03:09Speaker 20: the year two, and I would say it was a
- 1:03:12Speaker 20: combination of things, you know.
- 1:03:14Speaker 10: That really kind of hindered that growth in the second year.
- 1:03:18Speaker 20: One thing I did learn about that that process was
- 1:03:22Speaker 20: as you continue to develop a quarterback, it's not only
- 1:03:25Speaker 20: the players you put around them, but also the coaches
- 1:03:28Speaker 20: that you put around this guy.
- 1:03:29Speaker 10: Not only the coaches, but it can go all the.
- 1:03:31Speaker 20: Way to the ops, scenes and things like that to
- 1:03:33Speaker 20: support a guy who plays the you know, most most
- 1:03:37Speaker 20: important position in sports, and to ask him as a
- 1:03:39Speaker 20: rookie to come in it's always going to be tough.
- 1:03:41Speaker 20: And then you get the year two, you want to
- 1:03:43Speaker 20: see that jump. You get the year three, you would
- 1:03:45Speaker 20: want to see success like this, you know, just straight line,
- 1:03:48Speaker 20: But realistically that's not what it is. It's like a
- 1:03:50Speaker 20: bunch of ups and downs. And I think just supporting
- 1:03:54Speaker 20: a quarterback is one of the biggest things. And I
- 1:03:57Speaker 20: would also say this, you gotta bring a guy like Jacobean. Look,
- 1:04:00Speaker 20: he's definitely a starter in this league. And I would
- 1:04:03Speaker 20: also say it's a good mentor to quarterbacks.
- 1:04:05Speaker 11: Across the road.
- 1:04:05Speaker 22: Do you feel do you feel that the roster and
- 1:04:08Speaker 22: the staff as currently constructed as ready to support a rookie.
- 1:04:11Speaker 10: Quarterback one hundred percent. I feel very good about the
- 1:04:14Speaker 10: staff that we have.
- 1:04:15Speaker 20: We have guys go TC, TC and AVP and Evan McAdoo,
- 1:04:20Speaker 20: all guys that bring a certain skill set to the
- 1:04:23Speaker 20: quarterback position.
- 1:04:24Speaker 10: Now the balance is, look, he needs to hear that
- 1:04:26Speaker 10: one voice.
- 1:04:27Speaker 20: And what happens sometimes with younger quarterbacks they have their
- 1:04:30Speaker 20: quarterback guru, they have their coach, their quarterback coach.
- 1:04:33Speaker 10: Most offensive coordinators are quarterback coaches.
- 1:04:36Speaker 20: So look, those guys have worked together in the past
- 1:04:38Speaker 20: and they're on the same page to support any quarterback
- 1:04:40Speaker 20: that we bring him.
- 1:04:41Speaker 10: What do you like Drake May in the time he's
- 1:04:44Speaker 10: spent with him?
- 1:04:45Speaker 20: Yeah, Look, Drake May had a fantastic interview at the combine.
- 1:04:50Speaker 20: He brings a lot of energy. You can tell he
- 1:04:52Speaker 20: has that leadership ability. And you know, also the exciting
- 1:04:56Speaker 20: part about a guy like Drake May is the ceiling,
- 1:04:59Speaker 20: Like there is really no ceiling with a guy like
- 1:05:01Speaker 20: that now and saying that when we're trying to put
- 1:05:03Speaker 20: together this roster, I know a lot of people look
- 1:05:06Speaker 20: at the ceiling, but you also got to kind of
- 1:05:08Speaker 20: see how low is the floor, how low is the floor?
- 1:05:11Speaker 20: And I would say a guy like Drake May, he
- 1:05:14Speaker 20: has a lot of room to grow.
- 1:05:15Speaker 10: He's a young guy.
- 1:05:17Speaker 20: Honestly, he hasn't played football nearly as much as these
- 1:05:19Speaker 20: other guys. So that's definitely something that we that we've
- 1:05:22Speaker 20: looked at. But he definitely is going to develop.
- 1:05:25Speaker 21: But in keeping with that, when you're at three overall
- 1:05:28Speaker 21: and it's a draft like it is this year, you
- 1:05:30Speaker 21: could have an opportunity to instead of having a guy
- 1:05:33Speaker 21: with a high ceiling who might need work even though
- 1:05:35Speaker 21: he's really good.
- 1:05:36Speaker 3: You could move down and hit two other spots in
- 1:05:38Speaker 3: the first round, wide receiver.
- 1:05:40Speaker 9: Left tackle.
- 1:05:40Speaker 10: That's right, that you know.
- 1:05:42Speaker 20: I know everyone likes to think they have the special
- 1:05:45Speaker 20: formula they're picking players, but honestly, the guaranteed way to
- 1:05:49Speaker 20: win is to accumulate more picks. And so if we
- 1:05:52Speaker 20: don't feel convicted at number three, to your point, like,
- 1:05:55Speaker 20: we are willing to.
- 1:05:56Speaker 10: Do that as well.
- 1:05:57Speaker 23: Since we asked you about Frake manfood, we also have
- 1:05:59Speaker 23: to ask you about you Daniels.
- 1:06:01Speaker 10: Have you met with him?
- 1:06:02Speaker 2: What was it like?
- 1:06:02Speaker 3: What do you think so far?
- 1:06:03Speaker 10: Yeah, so Jade and Daniels, you know I was on
- 1:06:05Speaker 10: the zoom with him. I met him before. Look, those
- 1:06:08Speaker 10: guys have pro days coming up here soon.
- 1:06:10Speaker 20: So when you think about the process, like when I
- 1:06:13Speaker 20: leave here, I'm going to LSU, and then when I
- 1:06:15Speaker 20: leave LSU, I'm going to Carolina before I get back home.
- 1:06:18Speaker 20: But you have to do your due diligence. And once again,
- 1:06:20Speaker 20: it's not all about me. It's not all about Eliot
- 1:06:22Speaker 20: what you guys have heard me say a lot. It's
- 1:06:24Speaker 20: about collaboration. And one thing that Alonzo Heismith, one of
- 1:06:27Speaker 20: our scouts told me, and I truly believe it. He's
- 1:06:30Speaker 20: been doing it for a long time and he said
- 1:06:32Speaker 20: all the bad picks that he's seen, it's really been
- 1:06:35Speaker 20: where everyone wasn't on the same page. And you would
- 1:06:37Speaker 20: hope that, you know, you could get everyone on the
- 1:06:39Speaker 20: same page. Coaches and also scouts if you have one
- 1:06:43Speaker 20: person you know draft and that's kind of Tip Roder.
- 1:06:45Speaker 3: You talked about quarterbacks and the number three pick.
- 1:06:47Speaker 2: Do you view that as being a three man racing
- 1:06:50Speaker 2: quarterback or as Gji McCarthy pot of that conversation as well.
- 1:06:53Speaker 20: Let me tell you when I first started watching these guys,
- 1:06:56Speaker 20: it was that three man race.
- 1:06:57Speaker 10: And now as you continue to you know, what are
- 1:07:00Speaker 10: these uh?
- 1:07:00Speaker 20: You know then are the pro days and bring guys
- 1:07:03Speaker 20: in on the thirty visits and having time uh to
- 1:07:06Speaker 20: spend with those guys, so really get to know what
- 1:07:08Speaker 20: makes them tick. I mean, it's about five guys honestly
- 1:07:11Speaker 20: that could come in and be a solid quarterback.
- 1:07:14Speaker 2: In the future.
- 1:07:15Speaker 10: You're the head coach, you're gonna have to.
- 1:07:17Speaker 24: Say when someone accidentally threw the school play costumes, oh no,
- 1:07:23Speaker 24: replacements were shipped with FedEx and with picture proof of delivery,
- 1:07:26Speaker 24: everybody could focus on the perfect opening night FedEx where
- 1:07:30Speaker 24: now it's next for residential delivery only.
- 1:07:35Speaker 3: And now great moments in.
- 1:07:39Speaker 11: History.
- 1:07:40Speaker 2: I'm going to push back here on everybody.
- 1:07:42Speaker 3: What what?
- 1:07:43Speaker 2: What does everybody have against Robbie Anderson?
- 1:07:45Speaker 3: He's never made an important catch in his career, like
- 1:07:48Speaker 3: against us, he's done well when oh.
- 1:07:50Speaker 2: I remember a game and is a bellot too?
- 1:07:53Speaker 3: Don't makee me go to my phone, Deuce, you have
- 1:07:56Speaker 3: a computer there?
- 1:07:58Speaker 2: Answer.
- 1:07:58Speaker 3: He's a thoroughly average player.
- 1:08:00Speaker 2: Who yeah, is he's like a David Gibbons type, isn't he?
- 1:08:04Speaker 3: Yeah? I have no interest in David Gibbons right now?
- 1:08:06Speaker 2: Okay, all right, right now.
- 1:08:09Speaker 3: But they need a number one receiver. David Gibbons isn't there.
- 1:08:12Speaker 2: And I don't think Robbie Anderson is either.
- 1:08:14Speaker 8: No, no, But that's why I'm not interested. Though he's
- 1:08:17Speaker 8: not going to get number one money, of course he is.
- 1:08:20Speaker 8: You think that's what he makes? Why do you think
- 1:08:21Speaker 8: he's on the block? Okay, so you guys want to
- 1:08:23Speaker 8: hear about thanks for the understanding. Oh yeah, please do.
- 1:08:27Speaker 8: Because I have the prolific career. There was one reasonably
- 1:08:30Speaker 8: good game.
- 1:08:31Speaker 25: There was one reasonly the game where he was targeted
- 1:08:33Speaker 25: twelve times and had four catches for seventies.
- 1:08:35Speaker 3: Yeah, that is the Apex right.
- 1:08:38Speaker 25: Here we go, two for thirty four, none for none,
- 1:08:42Speaker 25: one for two, three for twenty four, three for eleven,
- 1:08:45Speaker 25: one for ten, and one for two.
- 1:08:46Speaker 3: He is zero to nine career against the Patriots. He's had.
- 1:08:50Speaker 2: Maybe I'm thinking of Waynekrebet. That's another great moment from.
- 1:08:58Speaker 3: All right, friend's ability to just move on. Turn the pay.
- 1:09:03Speaker 2: Back here and Patriots on filtered eighty five, five past
- 1:09:06Speaker 2: five hundred is the ace ticket hotline Alex has left us.
- 1:09:09Speaker 3: Yes, she's got things to do, get things.
- 1:09:11Speaker 2: Okay, it's matistia my.
- 1:09:13Speaker 3: Wrong show too. I told her.
- 1:09:15Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 1:09:15Speaker 11: During that addition, the most folded.
- 1:09:17Speaker 3: That's the most. That's the most I've heard her talk.
- 1:09:19Speaker 3: So maybe it was all it's all because of Evan.
- 1:09:22Speaker 3: When Evan's here, no one else talks about.
- 1:09:24Speaker 2: There's not a lot of oxygen when Evan's here. So
- 1:09:29Speaker 2: Tree Hugger in Oregon rights in haven't heard from him
- 1:09:31Speaker 2: in a while. Hugger Gerard Mayo told the Patriot's nation
- 1:09:35Speaker 2: to be patient. Does that mean one we are picking
- 1:09:38Speaker 2: a QB at three, but we aren't going to just
- 1:09:40Speaker 2: throw him to the wolves. He may sit out the
- 1:09:42Speaker 2: bulk of the season or two. We are trading down
- 1:09:44Speaker 2: and building talent at tackle and wide receiver this year.
- 1:09:47Speaker 2: We'll get our quarterback of the future next year. I
- 1:09:51Speaker 2: don't know why it has to be either one of.
- 1:09:53Speaker 3: Those I don't think it means either one of those things.
- 1:09:54Speaker 3: I agree. I think it means like we're not we
- 1:09:58Speaker 3: went four and thirteen, probably not going to go thirteen
- 1:10:00Speaker 3: and four in the first year. Yeah, I'm patient, We're
- 1:10:04Speaker 3: going to try to build it. I take exception to
- 1:10:08Speaker 3: some of the phrases like the one that he used,
- 1:10:10Speaker 3: just say the right way right, like that kind of
- 1:10:13Speaker 3: you know, like what what's the right way?
- 1:10:15Speaker 11: Yeah?
- 1:10:16Speaker 3: And why and anybody who doesn't do it that way?
- 1:10:18Speaker 3: Why are they not doing it the right way?
- 1:10:20Speaker 2: I think what he means is we're not going to
- 1:10:21Speaker 2: force anything. You don't know what other teams are going
- 1:10:26Speaker 2: to do too.
- 1:10:26Speaker 3: And that affects what you do. And so my point
- 1:10:28Speaker 3: is whatever way you choose to do it, does it
- 1:10:31Speaker 3: make it right or wrong. It's the way you choose
- 1:10:34Speaker 3: to do it, you know what I mean.
- 1:10:36Speaker 2: Yep, he has a question for Evan, which I won't
- 1:10:38Speaker 2: read because Evan is not here, Neil writes in or
- 1:10:43Speaker 2: actually he says Neil.
- 1:10:44Speaker 3: But it makes you think I couldn't talk about the
- 1:10:46Speaker 3: week side linebacker. You out of the whack.
- 1:10:48Speaker 2: It's Jeffrey from Canada. There's no reason to debate Mayor Daniels.
- 1:10:53Speaker 2: That's probably a big topic on Commanders Talk weekly. But
- 1:10:56Speaker 2: the Patriots are getting who the Commanders don't take that.
- 1:11:01Speaker 2: That's thanks to that lovely, meaningless win on Christmas Eve
- 1:11:04Speaker 2: that we were all told we should enjoy because the
- 1:11:06Speaker 2: real fans don't cheer for losses. I was not a
- 1:11:09Speaker 2: real fan that night. I wanted them to lose and
- 1:11:11Speaker 2: get to pick their quarterback. I don't fault the team
- 1:11:14Speaker 2: for competing. I just wish the Broncos could have pulled
- 1:11:17Speaker 2: off the comeback.
- 1:11:18Speaker 3: That's why I get it.
- 1:11:19Speaker 2: If I get that, that's why if I'm the Patriots GM,
- 1:11:23Speaker 2: I take a fair trade back if possible, or take
- 1:11:26Speaker 2: best player on your board who's available. If that's the
- 1:11:28Speaker 2: third quarterback, fine, but if it's a left tackle, a
- 1:11:31Speaker 2: wide receiver, stick to your board and take that player.
- 1:11:34Speaker 2: Don't reach. We're building from ground up. And quarterback is important,
- 1:11:38Speaker 2: no doubt, but it's not the only piece needed.
- 1:11:42Speaker 3: I get the mentality of, you know, you want a
- 1:11:44Speaker 3: couple of games down the stretch, and it costs you
- 1:11:47Speaker 3: a spot you could have gotten two instead of instead
- 1:11:50Speaker 3: of three. I get that. I understand why some people
- 1:11:53Speaker 3: will be frustrated. But he also answered it. I thought, like,
- 1:11:56Speaker 3: you can't ask them not to compete.
- 1:11:58Speaker 11: Like these guys might not be here next year, Like
- 1:12:00Speaker 11: they gotta go win, like if a player, I can't
- 1:12:03Speaker 11: ask the players to think like that, So have somebody
- 1:12:05Speaker 11: take their job potentially, Like the other.
- 1:12:07Speaker 3: Part, like if you want to trade down because you
- 1:12:10Speaker 3: want to add picks and do it that way, I think,
- 1:12:13Speaker 3: you know, I've said this many times. I think there's
- 1:12:15Speaker 3: a lot of uh, it's a lot, a lot on
- 1:12:19Speaker 3: that side of the ledger to be to be interested
- 1:12:22Speaker 3: in you know, I don't really I don't want to
- 1:12:25Speaker 3: trade down to take a guy instead of taking Drake
- 1:12:29Speaker 3: May at three, I'm going to get someone else or
- 1:12:32Speaker 3: Drake May at eleven or someone else at eleven at
- 1:12:35Speaker 3: that position like that, Like what's the difference, Like if
- 1:12:39Speaker 3: I if I think the quarterbacks good enough to three,
- 1:12:43Speaker 3: he's a little strong. Now, if I can get two
- 1:12:44Speaker 3: extra first round picks and then get the same guy,
- 1:12:47Speaker 3: that's different. That's different. I'm just talking about the player itself.
- 1:12:50Speaker 3: I don't want to reach. And if you don't think
- 1:12:53Speaker 3: he's worthy of the third pick, you don't think he's
- 1:12:55Speaker 3: worthy of eleven.
- 1:12:55Speaker 2: Right either. And the other thing that really bothers me
- 1:12:58Speaker 2: is people say, oh, JJ McCarthy, you know, maybe you
- 1:13:03Speaker 2: like him, but you can't take him with the second
- 1:13:05Speaker 2: or third pick. No, if you like him, you take
- 1:13:08Speaker 2: him when he's available, and when you can get him,
- 1:13:11Speaker 2: doesn't matter if it's second, third, fourth, fIF If you
- 1:13:14Speaker 2: like JJ McCarthy and you think he's gonna be your
- 1:13:16Speaker 2: franchise quarterback, you take him when it's your turn to
- 1:13:19Speaker 2: take them. Period.
- 1:13:21Speaker 3: You know that's I see that both sides. I'm not
- 1:13:24Speaker 3: sure on that one because I think the guy, like
- 1:13:26Speaker 3: as recently as a week and a half ago, was
- 1:13:29Speaker 3: considered a second round pick.
- 1:13:30Speaker 2: Yeah, I know, but but I'm just saying, like, you
- 1:13:33Speaker 2: know all this time, if you know, like you were
- 1:13:36Speaker 2: just laying low in the bushes, and even you know
- 1:13:38Speaker 2: two months ago you love JJ McCarthy, you're gonna you
- 1:13:42Speaker 2: should take him whenever you have your first pick.
- 1:13:45Speaker 11: What the Bears do with Mitch Trubisky. They made a mistake,
- 1:13:49Speaker 11: but they loved him, So take if you love him,
- 1:13:50Speaker 11: take it, if you.
- 1:13:50Speaker 2: Love him, take him.
- 1:13:51Speaker 3: Yes, at that position, I'm trying to think of an
- 1:13:57Speaker 3: example that that that fits and Brady doesn't fit. Oh
- 1:14:03Speaker 3: that's unfortunately, go ahead, Yeah, all right, we'll go to
- 1:14:06Speaker 3: uh the show screech to a halt again.
- 1:14:09Speaker 2: Mike, Oh hi, Mike, Hi, God, what's happening. Oh, he's
- 1:14:14Speaker 2: so sad. He's in Orlando. He's so sad. What's going on?
- 1:14:18Speaker 26: He's trying to grind the show to a halt.
- 1:14:20Speaker 3: You know, well, you do a good job, but I
- 1:14:22Speaker 3: don't worry about it.
- 1:14:23Speaker 2: We saw you had a prime, prime position for the
- 1:14:25Speaker 2: owner today.
- 1:14:25Speaker 3: You're in a lot of shots, a lot of smiles.
- 1:14:27Speaker 3: I saw you in the back.
- 1:14:29Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 1:14:30Speaker 26: Yeah, that's the goal, you know, just to get get
- 1:14:31Speaker 26: as much screen time as possible.
- 1:14:33Speaker 2: I love it, although Heady elbowed you out of the
- 1:14:35Speaker 2: way though, Well, Gardi has a prime spot.
- 1:14:38Speaker 3: You can't get that spot on Giard. Yeah, but just
- 1:14:42Speaker 3: so you know, Wally pip You got Wally pipped today
- 1:14:44Speaker 3: by by Matis. Yeah, you're out, you're out, you're out top.
- 1:14:49Speaker 26: Yeah, I'm not going to do a Wilker didn't said he.
- 1:14:52Speaker 9: Can have it.
- 1:14:53Speaker 3: Okay, only only one f bomb drop by ts too,
- 1:14:57Speaker 3: that was off air.
- 1:14:58Speaker 2: So what's what?
- 1:14:59Speaker 3: What we'll get it in post?
- 1:15:00Speaker 2: What's the scuttle beout at the owner's meeting?
- 1:15:04Speaker 18: Oh, lots of stuff.
- 1:15:05Speaker 26: I mean, you know, I get starting with the Patriots.
- 1:15:07Speaker 26: I think you guys have probably been listening a little bit.
- 1:15:09Speaker 26: You guys have been covering it. But yeah, the patients thing,
- 1:15:13Speaker 26: I mean, that's you know what it is. I think
- 1:15:14Speaker 26: they're trying to be methodical. You know, they pointed out,
- 1:15:18Speaker 26: you know, they took a swing at Ridley and you know,
- 1:15:20Speaker 26: trying to be selective with some of the things that
- 1:15:22Speaker 26: they're trying to do. But you know, I think it's
- 1:15:24Speaker 26: it's hard to preach that right now. And you know,
- 1:15:26Speaker 26: in talking with some of the other Patriot media members here,
- 1:15:29Speaker 26: it's definitely you know, just a lot of vitrioll out
- 1:15:32Speaker 26: there from Patriots fans right now. And I think that
- 1:15:34Speaker 26: was a big topic of discussion with all the different
- 1:15:36Speaker 26: media members that I talked to, you know, just very
- 1:15:40Speaker 26: angry people out there.
- 1:15:41Speaker 9: So it's sure, it's hard to.
- 1:15:42Speaker 26: Go out there preaching patients to these people who you know,
- 1:15:45Speaker 26: seemingly have their torture.
- 1:15:46Speaker 2: I remember when Bill was here, people would get angry
- 1:15:48Speaker 2: when they didn't sign anybody in the first ten days
- 1:15:50Speaker 2: of free agency, right, you know, that's nothing new there.
- 1:15:52Speaker 3: But but that's a great point, like it's it is
- 1:15:55Speaker 3: nothing new, but for some reason it's unfair.
- 1:15:58Speaker 2: But I understand now it's more are urgent because you
- 1:16:01Speaker 2: don't have Tom Brady, You're further away, you have more holes,
- 1:16:04Speaker 2: you know.
- 1:16:04Speaker 3: The more hands don't look at it as Gerard Mayo
- 1:16:07Speaker 3: is just starting. Fans are looking at as this is
- 1:16:09Speaker 3: year five.
- 1:16:10Speaker 2: Right, right, But when the reporters don't have the mic
- 1:16:16Speaker 2: in their hands or their laptop open, are they as
- 1:16:20Speaker 2: angry as they're coming off at the Patriots so far
- 1:16:24Speaker 2: in activity?
- 1:16:26Speaker 26: I don't know if angry is the right word. I
- 1:16:28Speaker 26: definitely think there are a variety of people that cover
- 1:16:31Speaker 26: the team that have kind of passionate takes.
- 1:16:35Speaker 16: You know.
- 1:16:35Speaker 26: Definitely Tommy current is on the trail of they got
- 1:16:38Speaker 26: a trade down, and you know, I respect his dedication
- 1:16:42Speaker 26: to that.
- 1:16:43Speaker 2: Well he doesn't like the quarterbacks then, right.
- 1:16:46Speaker 26: I guess I mean, you know, I was talking to him,
- 1:16:49Speaker 26: you know, beforehand, and then you heard him, you know,
- 1:16:51Speaker 26: ask Mayo specifically. They just played it in the cliff
- 1:16:54Speaker 26: that you guys are running during during the during halftime there,
- 1:16:58Speaker 26: so you know you could kind of tell what you
- 1:16:59Speaker 26: would get that with that. But now I don't sense
- 1:17:01Speaker 26: a lot of anger. I just I think that you know,
- 1:17:04Speaker 26: people generally seem to understand what they're doing and why
- 1:17:07Speaker 26: they're doing it, and I just I think the reaction
- 1:17:09Speaker 26: to it is is kind of spurring kind of this
- 1:17:11Speaker 26: you know, negative energy that that seems a little bit overwhelming.
- 1:17:15Speaker 2: Well, is the whole thing at debacle because uh Grod
- 1:17:19Speaker 2: Mayo spilled his orange juice because I'm reading.
- 1:17:21Speaker 18: That No, but I have to say, I mean I
- 1:17:26Speaker 18: I did.
- 1:17:27Speaker 26: I did appreciate the Rod kind of doing that and
- 1:17:29Speaker 26: then you know, and then he spilled it.
- 1:17:30Speaker 9: It just you know, it seemed kind of symbolic of how.
- 1:17:33Speaker 3: Things have gone, not you of the glorious past, and to.
- 1:17:40Speaker 26: Say exactly, but you know, I I you know, one
- 1:17:45Speaker 26: thing I just wanted to bring up though that I
- 1:17:46Speaker 26: thought was interesting today from from Robert was just you know,
- 1:17:50Speaker 26: reaffirming that after the draft that they are gonna, you know,
- 1:17:53Speaker 26: kind of recalibrate a little bit perhaps, So I just
- 1:17:56Speaker 26: I thought that was interesting coming out of the combine
- 1:17:59Speaker 26: with Elliott wolf being, you know, saying that he had
- 1:18:01Speaker 26: final decisions. I kind of felt like that sign was
- 1:18:05Speaker 26: pointing towards he's kind of locked into this spot. But
- 1:18:07Speaker 26: you know, I think mister crapf re affirming today that
- 1:18:10Speaker 26: you know, they are they are going to take a
- 1:18:11Speaker 26: look at things depending on how the draft goes. So
- 1:18:14Speaker 26: just that was an interesting nugget I didn't think got
- 1:18:16Speaker 26: a lot of play, at least from what I've.
- 1:18:18Speaker 9: Seen so far.
- 1:18:19Speaker 2: Right, it was interesting in Mayo's thing yesterday. I don't
- 1:18:22Speaker 2: know if it was a slip up, but you know
- 1:18:23Speaker 2: he said, you know, we don't know what kind of
- 1:18:25Speaker 2: GM Elliott's going to be or whatever role he plays,
- 1:18:29Speaker 2: so like he kind of slipped up and said GM
- 1:18:32Speaker 2: when he doesn't really have that title yet.
- 1:18:34Speaker 26: Yeah, funny you said that, Fred, because when he was speaking,
- 1:18:37Speaker 26: and I could tell that that was he was kind
- 1:18:39Speaker 26: of searching for what to call him, and you know,
- 1:18:42Speaker 26: you could almost be on his face him calling GM
- 1:18:45Speaker 26: and that, you know, saying or whatever he is. You know,
- 1:18:47Speaker 26: so it definitely is a little bit awkward. I mean,
- 1:18:50Speaker 26: I just it made me think like if the draft
- 1:18:52Speaker 26: goes well and you know, there's a good excitement and
- 1:18:54Speaker 26: we feel like they hit, you know, maybe they do
- 1:18:57Speaker 26: make just make it Elliott Wolf officially.
- 1:18:59Speaker 2: Well, it'll be interesting. Like I agree that I think
- 1:19:02Speaker 2: they're gonna reevaluate after the draft in but I wonder, like,
- 1:19:06Speaker 2: what's the criteria by which they're gonna make decisions.
- 1:19:08Speaker 3: Exactly Like they're gonna pick, They're gonna pick eight guys
- 1:19:11Speaker 3: and then they're gonna determine on May May third that
- 1:19:15Speaker 3: they were the right eight guys?
- 1:19:16Speaker 10: Well?
- 1:19:16Speaker 2: Or is it more like is Robert and Jonathan Kraft
- 1:19:20Speaker 2: gonna be in the war room watching you know? What's
- 1:19:22Speaker 2: the comportman? Like how do they wheel deal? Did they
- 1:19:25Speaker 2: get the upper hand in trades or things like that.
- 1:19:27Speaker 2: I'm wondering, like what's the criteria because we can't really
- 1:19:31Speaker 2: judge the players.
- 1:19:32Speaker 3: Right because and I don't think you can judge that
- 1:19:34Speaker 3: stuff either. I mean, if you felt like, to you
- 1:19:37Speaker 3: a point, like if you felt like, wow, these guys
- 1:19:39Speaker 3: don't have a clue, they're frazzled right and nervous, like
- 1:19:42Speaker 3: that would shine you know, yeah, I guess, but then
- 1:19:45Speaker 3: what are you gonna do? But like I'm on the
- 1:19:46Speaker 3: phone with Matisa and I'm like, hey, you know, we're
- 1:19:49Speaker 3: thinking about making a move here, you know, and someone's
- 1:19:51Speaker 3: on the whiteboard, you know, this round and that round,
- 1:19:54Speaker 3: and we're getting good value here. Let's pull the trick
- 1:19:57Speaker 3: like you're evaluating off of that.
- 1:19:59Speaker 2: Yeah like that.
- 1:20:00Speaker 3: Yeah, I agree with Mike. I think it was interesting
- 1:20:04Speaker 3: that Robert you know, sort of threw that in there.
- 1:20:07Speaker 3: And I do wonder if it's just not final, like
- 1:20:10Speaker 3: this is just like everybody else that does this. These
- 1:20:12Speaker 3: guys are in place because they were already doing all
- 1:20:15Speaker 3: the work, and when the draft is over, they might
- 1:20:19Speaker 3: make a change, but to whom or to who? You know, Yeah,
- 1:20:23Speaker 3: I think Wolf. I think Wolf is going to stay. Yeah,
- 1:20:26Speaker 3: but I wouldn't be surprised if some other guys are gone,
- 1:20:29Speaker 3: like mac Row.
- 1:20:31Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 1:20:31Speaker 26: I thought Mao's mentioned of Alonso Highsmith yesterday too was interesting.
- 1:20:35Speaker 26: We haven't you know, really not a guy that's been
- 1:20:37Speaker 26: highlighted a lot, but you know, somebody who has a
- 1:20:39Speaker 26: lot of experience with all this stuff. So you know,
- 1:20:43Speaker 26: he's one name. I wonder maybe he's you know, in
- 1:20:45Speaker 26: the mix for something more significant than he already.
- 1:20:47Speaker 2: Is, perhaps, but interesting.
- 1:20:50Speaker 26: You know, I just I keep going back to the
- 1:20:51Speaker 26: way they've been talking about it. You know, Robert today saying,
- 1:20:54Speaker 26: like the young guys, like, you know, they're being collaborative.
- 1:20:57Speaker 26: They you know, it seems like they're all in stinc
- 1:20:59Speaker 26: right now. So you know, maybe they do like the
- 1:21:01Speaker 26: way it's set up. But I mean, for me, I
- 1:21:04Speaker 26: just who else other than Elliott Wolf. I mean, he's
- 1:21:07Speaker 26: kind of been groomed for this since he was a kid.
- 1:21:09Speaker 26: He's been in the program for a couple of years.
- 1:21:11Speaker 26: He's had a chance to assess what's going on. So
- 1:21:15Speaker 26: you know, I just think all signs continue to point
- 1:21:17Speaker 26: to him.
- 1:21:18Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean I think so too. You know, the
- 1:21:20Speaker 2: fact that he felt comfortable enough to say I have
- 1:21:23Speaker 2: final say. I mean, yes, that's all you need to
- 1:21:27Speaker 2: know right there, right What else any rule change talk?
- 1:21:32Speaker 2: I mean, we went over what the rule changes are.
- 1:21:34Speaker 2: But like, are people outraged about the hip drop?
- 1:21:38Speaker 26: I mean, I think it's a little bit mixed. I
- 1:21:40Speaker 26: actually I went and listened to Dan Campbell today, who's
- 1:21:43Speaker 26: always entertaining. Of course, as I floated around some of
- 1:21:45Speaker 26: the NFC tables, and you know he said he actually
- 1:21:48Speaker 26: had his mind change in the in the NFL's presentation
- 1:21:51Speaker 26: of it, and you know, he presented both sides of it.
- 1:21:55Speaker 26: I mean, you know, the challenge of the defensive players
- 1:21:58Speaker 26: having to adjust to this, and I mean I've seen
- 1:22:00Speaker 26: plenty of cliffs. I mean, I was sitting there yesterday
- 1:22:03Speaker 26: kind of talking to our group being like, you know,
- 1:22:06Speaker 26: if there's a guy running time of just out of
- 1:22:08Speaker 26: your reach diagonally across you, like you can't grab his race,
- 1:22:12Speaker 26: it's really hard. And you know you saw some examples
- 1:22:14Speaker 26: of those. But I think it's one of those things
- 1:22:16Speaker 26: that's balanced. You know that you have some of the
- 1:22:18Speaker 26: players who've been injured, though you know you've saw some
- 1:22:20Speaker 26: outrage for them, but I think the coaches, you know,
- 1:22:23Speaker 26: tend to understand, and certainly competition Committee wants to try
- 1:22:26Speaker 26: to do their best to get rid of it. It's
- 1:22:27Speaker 26: just going to come down to how is it legislated
- 1:22:29Speaker 26: and are the refs, you know, going to have to
- 1:22:31Speaker 26: make these gray area judgment calls. They're saying they want
- 1:22:34Speaker 26: it to be clear, and it has you know, like
- 1:22:36Speaker 26: a penalty shot in hockey, you have like a certain
- 1:22:38Speaker 26: like five things that have to be satisfied. But it's
- 1:22:40Speaker 26: just again, you're asking a lot of the refs, and
- 1:22:43Speaker 26: we know that it's not always it's not always easy
- 1:22:45Speaker 26: to get them for them to get it right and
- 1:22:47Speaker 26: under the you know, the fire of an NFL game.
- 1:22:50Speaker 26: So I'm kind of intrigued by the NFL kickoff, though
- 1:22:52Speaker 26: I haven't seen a lot of outrights by that except
- 1:22:54Speaker 26: for maybe certain former Patriots special teamers that have a
- 1:22:58Speaker 26: prominent voice on Twitter, But otherwise, I think people are
- 1:23:01Speaker 26: kind of interested to see that play potentially become more impactful.
- 1:23:05Speaker 26: And I wonder if you know, somebody like Marcus Jones
- 1:23:07Speaker 26: coming back, is that yeah, you know, gives the Patriots
- 1:23:09Speaker 26: a little bit of a boost.
- 1:23:10Speaker 2: Yeah. My prediction this year is that you're going to
- 1:23:12Speaker 2: see a lot of I'm going to go the other way,
- 1:23:14Speaker 2: at least for this year until teams figured out, You're
- 1:23:16Speaker 2: going to see a lot of longer returns.
- 1:23:18Speaker 3: I think it's going to be very hard to break past. Now,
- 1:23:20Speaker 3: they'll be if you do think you're gone, Yeah, but
- 1:23:24Speaker 3: I think it's going to be very hard to get
- 1:23:25Speaker 3: by ten guys who are already in place to make
- 1:23:28Speaker 3: a tackle ten ten, fifteen, yards away from the ball.
- 1:23:32Speaker 11: I wonder if now you'll see some more like if
- 1:23:34Speaker 11: people start to break through, if maybe you see some
- 1:23:36Speaker 11: more like star players back there. You know, if you
- 1:23:38Speaker 11: got a burner back then you might be able to
- 1:23:41Speaker 11: break free.
- 1:23:41Speaker 2: It might less chance of getting injured. So put him
- 1:23:44Speaker 2: back there.
- 1:23:44Speaker 3: I was thinking some opening the door for some trick plays. Yeah,
- 1:23:48Speaker 3: you know, returns, reverses and maybe throwbacks and stuff.
- 1:23:51Speaker 2: I'll bet you if Bill was in the league right
- 1:23:55Speaker 2: now as a coach, he'd be looking at this right now.
- 1:23:57Speaker 3: And he fortunately, you're right, he would have spent the
- 1:24:00Speaker 3: whole off season.
- 1:24:01Speaker 2: Doing that, but he would come up with some ways.
- 1:24:06Speaker 2: You know, anyway you had any any hobnobbing at night,
- 1:24:12Speaker 2: any like parties with like you know, v v I
- 1:24:15Speaker 2: p S.
- 1:24:17Speaker 26: Last night was the big party. I would say the
- 1:24:18Speaker 26: biggest pop knob was our friend Nicolette, who ran into
- 1:24:22Speaker 26: Christian Youth check and basically just jumped on her. She
- 1:24:28Speaker 26: was very excited to see her.
- 1:24:30Speaker 18: But you know, otherwise, just the usual suspect.
- 1:24:33Speaker 26: Talked to mccordy for a little bit last night.
- 1:24:35Speaker 18: He was there, you know, no socks.
- 1:24:37Speaker 26: I actually got one A point of funny story after this,
- 1:24:41Speaker 26: but Matt Smith, you know, saw him and was like,
- 1:24:43Speaker 26: you know, what are you doing here? He's like, I
- 1:24:44Speaker 26: don't really know. But then one other funny thing that
- 1:24:48Speaker 26: that you guys will appreciate was, you know, they have
- 1:24:50Speaker 26: the little the little giveaway area, and they had socks
- 1:24:53Speaker 26: they had they were given me, like you know, all
- 1:24:55Speaker 26: team stocks and like what what kind of stocks do
- 1:24:57Speaker 26: you want? I'm like, well, I got to get the
- 1:24:59Speaker 26: Patriots stocks. I got two care and you know, I'm
- 1:25:00Speaker 26: walking out and I turned to Matt Smith and said, oh, Mat,
- 1:25:03Speaker 26: did you get me socks? And he said, no, I'm
- 1:25:07Speaker 26: not a Fox.
- 1:25:07Speaker 3: Guy, all right, I don't no socks. So I laughed, Yeah,
- 1:25:13Speaker 3: did you get a swap back for for Uncle Paul?
- 1:25:15Speaker 15: No?
- 1:25:16Speaker 6: Oh yeah, oh yeah, no that's what I got it.
- 1:25:18Speaker 10: I got you cover.
- 1:25:18Speaker 11: That's okay, bro, that's your speed.
- 1:25:20Speaker 26: All a lot of shrimp cocktail, No, no, I'm out friend,
- 1:25:25Speaker 26: that's that dandy.
- 1:25:26Speaker 16: No.
- 1:25:26Speaker 26: We're mostly mostly you know, the brunch at that at
- 1:25:31Speaker 26: the hotel and stuff, so kind of eat on the
- 1:25:33Speaker 26: fly these days and uh, grab some airport food and
- 1:25:38Speaker 26: excited it'll be back tomorrow.
- 1:25:39Speaker 2: You guys gonna take a trip to Disney tonight.
- 1:25:41Speaker 26: Just to uh, I'm out. I'm out in about three hours.
- 1:25:44Speaker 2: Oh okay, all right, all right, way back, Well Deuce,
- 1:25:49Speaker 2: we'll see you when you get back here. All right, guys,
- 1:25:52Speaker 2: all right, save travels to Mike. Do so bro come
- 1:25:56Speaker 2: to you from the owners meeting in Orlando?
- 1:25:58Speaker 3: Yeah, okay, no, socks. Didn't need any extra socks.
- 1:26:05Speaker 2: You could just look at him my name.
- 1:26:09Speaker 7: Sorry, Let's go to Eldred on line three.
- 1:26:14Speaker 2: What's up, Eldred? Oh boy, three people just ran off
- 1:26:19Speaker 2: the road.
- 1:26:21Speaker 18: Oh yeah, I just hear it, one old lady.
- 1:26:23Speaker 2: Hey. Hey, in all seriousness, I don't want to like
- 1:26:26Speaker 2: bring it down, but like, man, when you read that
- 1:26:29Speaker 2: story about Maryland the bridge, does that like freak you
- 1:26:32Speaker 2: out as someone who's on the road all the time?
- 1:26:36Speaker 2: Down when you read the story about the bridge collapsing,
- 1:26:39Speaker 2: did that freak you out as a truck driver?
- 1:26:42Speaker 9: Oh yeah, wait, yeah.
- 1:26:46Speaker 18: You know, not bring heart, you know, tragedy to it.
- 1:26:51Speaker 18: But one of my fellows employee, he was driving in
- 1:26:55Speaker 18: kicks as I think, and you went under a bridge
- 1:26:58Speaker 18: and it collapsed and they killed him. My god, yeah,
- 1:27:00Speaker 18: question question right there with the truck. Yeah, and about
- 1:27:03Speaker 18: a couple other people.
- 1:27:04Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 1:27:05Speaker 18: Yeah, so yeah, I get very leurri when they work
- 1:27:08Speaker 18: on bridges. I try to get me a ride around
- 1:27:11Speaker 18: from away from it.
- 1:27:12Speaker 2: Okay, yeah, no, I hear you. I was just thinking
- 1:27:16Speaker 2: about you when I heard that's like Aldred's out there.
- 1:27:18Speaker 2: Yeah all right, so what do you got question? We
- 1:27:23Speaker 2: have the uh what's what his name?
- 1:27:25Speaker 18: Bolden was the was the corner back? He got heard
- 1:27:29Speaker 18: of something d he's out for the whole year.
- 1:27:31Speaker 3: Isaiah Bolting, Yeah, Isaiah, Yeah, I mean he's still on
- 1:27:35Speaker 3: the roster.
- 1:27:38Speaker 18: Is this your injured?
- 1:27:39Speaker 2: What made you think of him?
- 1:27:40Speaker 3: No, I don't think he's still what man you.
- 1:27:43Speaker 2: Think of him?
- 1:27:44Speaker 18: Because he was a good He was coming on pretty
- 1:27:46Speaker 18: good with him and guns though. I think for the
- 1:27:49Speaker 18: outside for the size and the limp and speed, But
- 1:27:53Speaker 18: but I don't know, Like he got fox Sporo flu,
- 1:27:56Speaker 18: you know, then you ain't see him no more.
- 1:27:58Speaker 3: He got that.
- 1:28:00Speaker 11: Concussion.
- 1:28:01Speaker 3: Yeah, the head injury in ten.
- 1:28:04Speaker 11: Green Bad canceled the game.
- 1:28:07Speaker 3: Yeah, they ended the green Bay. Yeah, he was stretchered
- 1:28:09Speaker 3: off the field.
- 1:28:10Speaker 2: They were like, that's it, We're done.
- 1:28:12Speaker 18: Yeah, the right he did.
- 1:28:15Speaker 3: Yeah, it wasn't Yeah, it wasn't a Foxborough flu situation. Yeah,
- 1:28:18Speaker 3: he was hurt.
- 1:28:18Speaker 18: Okay, so he's hurt, hurt real bad. So anybody heard
- 1:28:21Speaker 18: anything from him injury wise, no recovery.
- 1:28:25Speaker 3: I have not, But I think he got a concussion,
- 1:28:28Speaker 3: so I don't. I mean, so, yeah, I think if
- 1:28:33Speaker 3: it was something that was you know, ongoing, we'd know.
- 1:28:37Speaker 3: I think I think he'll be part of the off
- 1:28:39Speaker 3: season program and all that's I think that's safe to assume. Yeah,
- 1:28:42Speaker 3: April eighth, by the.
- 1:28:43Speaker 18: Way, so too. But I always I know it's a
- 1:28:50Speaker 18: new year, new era of football, but football is football.
- 1:28:55Speaker 18: If you won't take everything out of football, you might
- 1:28:57Speaker 18: have kicked the pants off the.
- 1:28:58Speaker 3: Guys and gave him play, right, that's where they're going. Yeah,
- 1:29:01Speaker 3: I couldn't get fifty years.
- 1:29:04Speaker 18: There's always been a contact sport, even back in the
- 1:29:06Speaker 18: forties and the fifties.
- 1:29:07Speaker 3: In the thirties, well it was probably more bad, you know.
- 1:29:10Speaker 18: Yeah, hear a whole lot more back then, you know,
- 1:29:13Speaker 18: but it was football, you know, just why we like
- 1:29:15Speaker 18: playing it back in the day. But it's just too
- 1:29:19Speaker 18: many rules. You know, you can't stop defensem doing news
- 1:29:21Speaker 18: and offenses doing it.
- 1:29:23Speaker 3: The main defense, right, you know, was not happy, Yes,
- 1:29:29Speaker 3: all right, thanks Elvire Spiggy.
- 1:29:31Speaker 2: You know, back in the turn of the century football
- 1:29:35Speaker 2: was such a violent sport that Teddy Roosevelt I think
- 1:29:39Speaker 2: had to they're playing in college, had to step in
- 1:29:42Speaker 2: and like say, you got to change sources out.
- 1:29:44Speaker 3: Yeah, well people were dying.
- 1:29:46Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:29:47Speaker 11: No, I agree with him, though, it's uh, it's gonna
- 1:29:48Speaker 11: be interesting what the league's like in fifteen years, because
- 1:29:51Speaker 11: look how much it's just changed in the past ten
- 1:29:53Speaker 11: So how much more can you change?
- 1:29:55Speaker 2: So you think they want to keep getting closer to
- 1:29:58Speaker 2: video games? You know, Alex and Mount Holly just wanted
- 1:30:03Speaker 2: to say thank you to Paul for stepping in from
- 1:30:06Speaker 2: two to six yesterday, because if Mike was there to
- 1:30:09Speaker 2: talk about Mao's press conference, I think I would have
- 1:30:11Speaker 2: destroyed my radio if he threw another tantrum. Not that
- 1:30:14Speaker 2: I totally disagree with what Felker complains about, but I
- 1:30:17Speaker 2: am worried about the state of the team next year.
- 1:30:20Speaker 2: But the new regime has my patience, to say the least,
- 1:30:23Speaker 2: and I'm not freaking the f out every day like him. Also,
- 1:30:27Speaker 2: the reason I hate the fact the hip drop tackle
- 1:30:29Speaker 2: got banned is because whenever it inevitably happens on a
- 1:30:33Speaker 2: CBS broadcast with Nance and Romo. We're gonna hear Tony saying,
- 1:30:38Speaker 2: I don't know, is that a hip drop making that
- 1:30:42Speaker 2: it's gonna take a huge It's gonna be a huge
- 1:30:45Speaker 2: call in the.
- 1:30:45Speaker 11: Game, mahomes first down? What when that happens. Oh, it's
- 1:30:51Speaker 11: gonna be in the playoffs and it's gonna be Chiefs
- 1:30:55Speaker 11: verse Titans or something and it's gonna ruin a big play.
- 1:30:58Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 1:30:58Speaker 3: I mean, I just think it's gonna have and all
- 1:31:00Speaker 3: the time unless they don't call it. Yeah, like that's
- 1:31:07Speaker 3: they've had some sort of emphasis on different areas of
- 1:31:11Speaker 3: the rules and they sort of call it a little
- 1:31:13Speaker 3: bit and then it goes away like.
- 1:31:14Speaker 11: The past interference won a couple of years ago.
- 1:31:16Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, just stuff like that, you know. And
- 1:31:20Speaker 3: if that's what ends up happening, then I think it'll
- 1:31:22Speaker 3: be fine. I just think it's like I said, I've
- 1:31:26Speaker 3: seen some of these videos that they've put out, and
- 1:31:29Speaker 3: I've seen a lot of different tackles and they're different.
- 1:31:32Speaker 3: A lot of them look different to me, And if
- 1:31:34Speaker 3: they're all going to be judged to be the same,
- 1:31:37Speaker 3: I think people are going to rightly wonder well, why
- 1:31:39Speaker 3: was that a penalty and that one isn't because I
- 1:31:41Speaker 3: think there's going to be a lot of inconsistency with
- 1:31:43Speaker 3: the way it's viewed.
- 1:31:45Speaker 2: Yeah, David, and Maine says, we fans are disappointed. This
- 1:31:49Speaker 2: is the voice of the fan right here, David from Maine.
- 1:31:52Speaker 2: We fans are disappointed because we should be doing what
- 1:31:54Speaker 2: the Titans are doing. We're kind of in the same
- 1:31:57Speaker 2: boat as the Titans. Although they are a better team,
- 1:32:00Speaker 2: they too have a new coach, new quarterback. Not a
- 1:32:02Speaker 2: great team last year. The big difference is that we
- 1:32:05Speaker 2: had way more money than the Titans, but they are
- 1:32:08Speaker 2: adding all the talent they can. It's fine, we missed
- 1:32:11Speaker 2: out on Ridley, but going forward we will have to
- 1:32:14Speaker 2: pay a suck tax. For now, our magnet needs to
- 1:32:17Speaker 2: be cash. I hope the front office gets that. I
- 1:32:20Speaker 2: know we're big on value and that's great, but we
- 1:32:22Speaker 2: can't worry about that now. Pay more now and hopefully
- 1:32:26Speaker 2: pay less later.
- 1:32:28Speaker 3: Okay, Okay, Can I just say I'm going to go
- 1:32:30Speaker 3: on the other side here now? And I said that
- 1:32:34Speaker 3: I took exception to girod Mao using the phrase We're
- 1:32:36Speaker 3: gonna do it the right way.
- 1:32:38Speaker 10: Yep.
- 1:32:39Speaker 3: I would take just as much exception to the fact
- 1:32:42Speaker 3: if Ryan Carthin said we're going out and we're gonna
- 1:32:45Speaker 3: add as much talent as we can. We want to
- 1:32:47Speaker 3: do it the right way. Right, that's the right way
- 1:32:50Speaker 3: for Tennessee. Tennessee has decided we're gonna get Snead, We're
- 1:32:53Speaker 3: gonna get Pollard, we're gonna get Ridley. I don't think
- 1:32:56Speaker 3: there's anything wrong with that. That's what they've decided is
- 1:32:58Speaker 3: best for them. Does it make it right? Does it
- 1:33:02Speaker 3: mean it's gonna work right?
- 1:33:03Speaker 2: Right?
- 1:33:04Speaker 11: They got Hopkins last year went six and eleven.
- 1:33:06Speaker 3: Right now, I think what the but the fair comparison
- 1:33:10Speaker 3: is they stink, You stink they're being aggressive. You're not. Now,
- 1:33:17Speaker 3: it doesn't mean again that one is right. I hate
- 1:33:20Speaker 3: when people It used to bother me when Bill did this.
- 1:33:23Speaker 3: You know, like remember Scott Scott Piol. You know, it's
- 1:33:26Speaker 3: not about the best collectory. It's the right fifty three
- 1:33:30Speaker 3: and we're not just collecting talent. We believe that this
- 1:33:33Speaker 3: is the this is the right way to do. Yeah,
- 1:33:35Speaker 3: that's great, that's what you believe. That doesn't mean it's right.
- 1:33:40Speaker 3: It's just like when you're proven right, Yeah, by twelve,
- 1:33:44Speaker 3: when you had the best, you won.
- 1:33:46Speaker 11: Freddy Krueger.
- 1:33:47Speaker 3: I mean, that's that's it. I mean, like, I just
- 1:33:52Speaker 3: hate when people try to tell me that doesn't work,
- 1:33:56Speaker 3: this is the way to do it, when I've seen
- 1:33:58Speaker 3: in that league so many different ways to build a
- 1:34:00Speaker 3: team that have been successful.
- 1:34:02Speaker 2: Christian writes in from North Carolina, Paul put me down
- 1:34:05Speaker 2: for not wanting May. Don't think he was Christian from
- 1:34:09Speaker 2: North Carolina. I don't think he will translate to the NFL.
- 1:34:12Speaker 2: Look at when the going got tough for him and
- 1:34:15Speaker 2: how his play was. I have many more reasons to
- 1:34:18Speaker 2: Jaden or Caleb are my pick if not trade out
- 1:34:22Speaker 2: Caleb's not having.
- 1:34:24Speaker 3: So and you know that where I stand on this
- 1:34:27Speaker 3: particular element of Caleb Williams. But so when the going
- 1:34:30Speaker 3: went tough for Drake May, he was no good And
- 1:34:35Speaker 3: you're all in on Caleb Williams because he definitely showed
- 1:34:38Speaker 3: all kinds of composure when the going went tough.
- 1:34:41Speaker 2: Paul finally on my side.
- 1:34:43Speaker 3: I mean, I think it's ridiculous as you know that
- 1:34:45Speaker 3: he will be the number one overall pick and one
- 1:34:47Speaker 3: of you were going to owe me something when he
- 1:34:50Speaker 3: goes number one overall.
- 1:34:51Speaker 2: Why who doesn't think he's gonna go number one? Wow?
- 1:34:57Speaker 2: I never said he wasn't going number one. People at
- 1:35:01Speaker 2: that time people were saying, oh, he may not be
- 1:35:04Speaker 2: number one, But I never said that. No, I didn't.
- 1:35:07Speaker 11: I think it's locked in.
- 1:35:09Speaker 3: I think it's locked in too. But my point is
- 1:35:14Speaker 3: there's psychos like Felgri and Maz out there that are
- 1:35:18Speaker 3: completely out on Caleb Williams because he cried absurd and
- 1:35:23Speaker 3: and we can't have anything anything to do with Drake
- 1:35:25Speaker 3: may because when things got tough he folded. But we
- 1:35:30Speaker 3: love Caleb Williams, like.
- 1:35:31Speaker 7: Come on spiing fresnow for each of you, Just for
- 1:35:35Speaker 7: the record, I love them both, for each of you.
- 1:35:37Speaker 2: If you had to add a new way of scoring
- 1:35:39Speaker 2: in the NFL, what would it be, To use an
- 1:35:42Speaker 2: alex word. It can manifest in any phase of the game,
- 1:35:46Speaker 2: can be a point increase or a deduction, and can
- 1:35:48Speaker 2: be worth whatever you want. Be creative.
- 1:35:50Speaker 11: The world is listening a new way to score, Like
- 1:35:55Speaker 11: why I've won? Sixty yard field goal should be four
- 1:35:58Speaker 11: points sixty yard plus?
- 1:35:59Speaker 2: Okay, that's a good one.
- 1:36:00Speaker 11: Something like that.
- 1:36:01Speaker 2: Yeah, you go, it's like a three point shot in basketball. Yeah,
- 1:36:04Speaker 2: if you're if you're hit, get an extra point.
- 1:36:06Speaker 11: If you're hitting a field goal sixty plus the yards,
- 1:36:08Speaker 11: you get an extra point.
- 1:36:10Speaker 3: How about if we go the other way and we
- 1:36:12Speaker 3: say any field goal inside of forty yards is only
- 1:36:14Speaker 3: worth two?
- 1:36:16Speaker 11: Yeah?
- 1:36:17Speaker 9: I like that?
- 1:36:18Speaker 11: Yeah, okay, or you miss a pat minus two.
- 1:36:23Speaker 3: You know, maybe the the CFL rules where you know,
- 1:36:28Speaker 3: you tackle the guy in the end zone it's a single,
- 1:36:30Speaker 3: something like that.
- 1:36:31Speaker 11: I like thee Oh no, I like the one they
- 1:36:34Speaker 11: added a couple of years ago, the if you block
- 1:36:37Speaker 11: a pat and get it back you get the two points.
- 1:36:39Speaker 11: Oh yeah, yeah, like I like that.
- 1:36:41Speaker 2: What about no more pats? You only can go for
- 1:36:44Speaker 2: two at that point?
- 1:36:46Speaker 3: You got that's another XFL. That's another XFL one. They
- 1:36:49Speaker 3: had three three different extra points, one from the two,
- 1:36:54Speaker 3: one from the ten, and I think one from the fifteen,
- 1:36:57Speaker 3: something like that, and they were worth one, two and
- 1:36:59Speaker 3: three points.
- 1:36:59Speaker 11: Yeah, it could work. No, I think the best thing
- 1:37:02Speaker 11: that the FL did in recent memory was push the
- 1:37:05Speaker 11: pat back. Screwed over the pats in twenty fifteen. But
- 1:37:07Speaker 11: it's just not a game.
- 1:37:08Speaker 2: Weren't we the ones uh yeah pushing for it? Well?
- 1:37:12Speaker 11: Probably yeah, Bill thinks.
- 1:37:13Speaker 3: Bill thought, you know it wasn't a competitive play.
- 1:37:15Speaker 11: Yeah, I think it's for the for the better.
- 1:37:18Speaker 3: But yeah, it's fine. I mean I didn't really see
- 1:37:21Speaker 3: the need to change it, but it's fine. And now
- 1:37:24Speaker 3: to your point, like it's just like anything else, you
- 1:37:26Speaker 3: change it and then it's it's done that way for
- 1:37:29Speaker 3: ten years and you don't even think about it anymore.
- 1:37:31Speaker 11: I know, I say, sixty yard field goal, four points,
- 1:37:33Speaker 11: change up.
- 1:37:34Speaker 3: I mean, that's as good as anything. I don't really
- 1:37:36Speaker 3: have you the email, It doesn't have any No, he
- 1:37:38Speaker 3: didn't do jeff any Yeah. I like those kinds of things,
- 1:37:40Speaker 3: like just like when Fred and I have our long
- 1:37:43Speaker 3: discussions on why do you need ten yards?
- 1:37:45Speaker 2: Re firs down?
- 1:37:47Speaker 3: M Jules?
- 1:37:49Speaker 2: Who's online too? All right, Sean, what's up.
- 1:37:55Speaker 4: Hey, MTE Paul and Fred? Great to hear from you.
- 1:37:59Speaker 4: You know, earlier in the conversation you mentioned trades possible
- 1:38:03Speaker 4: for Higgins and right, but I like Fred was always
- 1:38:08Speaker 4: a big fan of Jefferson, from the beginning of hoping
- 1:38:12Speaker 4: that they drafted to the course they went.
- 1:38:13Speaker 2: To pick before.
- 1:38:15Speaker 4: But what do you think it would take to get
- 1:38:17Speaker 4: Jefferson now? And would the Patriots be willing to pay
- 1:38:20Speaker 4: that kind of stytary because it might be north of
- 1:38:23Speaker 4: thirty million a year.
- 1:38:26Speaker 2: To get them you need, I think, wouldn't you have
- 1:38:28Speaker 2: to give up a first round pick for him?
- 1:38:29Speaker 9: Oh?
- 1:38:30Speaker 11: At least yeah, a first, maybe a second or next
- 1:38:33Speaker 11: year first.
- 1:38:34Speaker 2: You know, thanks.
- 1:38:36Speaker 3: But the thing there is like if this is like
- 1:38:40Speaker 3: a flaw, Like so Minnesota has eleven and twenty three,
- 1:38:44Speaker 3: and a lot of people have said, you know, Patriots
- 1:38:47Speaker 3: trade down to eleven, so Minnesota moves up eight spots,
- 1:38:52Speaker 3: you get twenty three, maybe you get a first round
- 1:38:56Speaker 3: pick next year in Justin Jefferson. Right, Well, if Minnesota
- 1:39:01Speaker 3: is going to trade all of that to move up
- 1:39:04Speaker 3: to three, they're gonna do it for what a quarterback?
- 1:39:08Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 1:39:08Speaker 3: Right right, and you're gonna trade Justin Jefferson.
- 1:39:11Speaker 11: Well, it's also like they're saying, I think he's kind
- 1:39:13Speaker 11: of he's a trade target because he's unhappy with their
- 1:39:15Speaker 11: quarterback situation. So now he's coming here. He's gonna get paid,
- 1:39:18Speaker 11: but he's gonna be pretty miserable.
- 1:39:20Speaker 2: Right.
- 1:39:20Speaker 3: No, But what I'm saying is why would Minnesota, Like
- 1:39:23Speaker 3: I understand why Minnesota wild trade him. He's in the
- 1:39:25Speaker 3: last year of his deal. They want to get something.
- 1:39:26Speaker 11: For him, but then he get the quarterback.
- 1:39:28Speaker 3: But they're aggressively trying to get a quarterback. I would
- 1:39:31Speaker 3: think to help convince him to sign to stay and
- 1:39:35Speaker 3: give the new quarterback someone to throw to. So I
- 1:39:39Speaker 3: don't know if that works. Justin Jefferson is the one
- 1:39:44Speaker 3: I would take over the others too. I'm with Sean.
- 1:39:46Speaker 3: I think he's right, but I think no. To answer
- 1:39:50Speaker 3: the question what I think, do I think the Patriots
- 1:39:52Speaker 3: would pay him north of thirty million a year?
- 1:39:55Speaker 2: No, I don't how. Wright's in born and mass grew
- 1:39:58Speaker 2: up in Maine, longtime Pagries fan, now stuck on the
- 1:40:00Speaker 2: surface of the sun in Phoenix. Here are my thoughts,
- 1:40:04Speaker 2: he says, regardless of which quarterback the Patriots take, the
- 1:40:07Speaker 2: offense goes nowhere without a solid offensive line. Well the Patriots, well,
- 1:40:12Speaker 2: the Patriots boast of those positions, while the new quarterback
- 1:40:15Speaker 2: learns the offense. I think back at Bert Jones and
- 1:40:18Speaker 2: the Colts, who had no line and thus his career
- 1:40:21Speaker 2: was cut short. Second, wasn't mac Jones worth more than
- 1:40:24Speaker 2: some six round pick? Or was that all the Patriots
- 1:40:26Speaker 2: could get for him?
- 1:40:27Speaker 3: That's all they could get it.
- 1:40:29Speaker 2: And lastly, is Zeke still in the backfield this year?
- 1:40:32Speaker 2: I haven't been following as I'm getting revved up for
- 1:40:35Speaker 2: the Red Sox.
- 1:40:37Speaker 11: He's free agent.
- 1:40:38Speaker 3: Yeah, Zeke is unsigned.
- 1:40:40Speaker 11: He's still available, and I'm pretty sure if he gets
- 1:40:43Speaker 11: signed somewhere will be around the same time he signed here.
- 1:40:45Speaker 11: That's kind of the way to running back market is now.
- 1:40:47Speaker 3: Well plus for veterans like that, they're not really looking
- 1:40:50Speaker 3: to do all that work. They'll work out on their own.
- 1:40:53Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:40:54Speaker 11: I think he's ring Jason now at this point. He's
- 1:40:56Speaker 11: made his got his big contract on Oh maybe Kansas
- 1:40:58Speaker 11: City something like that. We'll see, Yeah, in August.
- 1:41:02Speaker 3: That would make sense.
- 1:41:03Speaker 2: Longino from Jersey, I just want to say that it's ridiculous.
- 1:41:08Speaker 2: It's ridiculous how we're getting so close to the draft
- 1:41:11Speaker 2: and how negative comments people are saying about Drake May.
- 1:41:14Speaker 2: I don't know how he's going to turn out, but
- 1:41:17Speaker 2: I'd rather get him if we could and turn into
- 1:41:19Speaker 2: a bus than not get him and he'd be in
- 1:41:22Speaker 2: all pro on another team. It sucks to be in
- 1:41:25Speaker 2: this situation, but hopefully we get it right and not
- 1:41:28Speaker 2: go through another QB carousel. Who's this Longino from Jersey.
- 1:41:33Speaker 3: So that's that's the prototypical PU argument right there. That's
- 1:41:37Speaker 3: a debate, right, would you rather pick him and have
- 1:41:43Speaker 3: him be a bust or not pick him, have him
- 1:41:46Speaker 3: go later and turn into an all pro.
- 1:41:49Speaker 2: I'd rather take the shot and have him be a bust.
- 1:41:51Speaker 11: Me too, Yeah, yeah, agreed.
- 1:41:53Speaker 3: So I guess it didn't turn it to be as
- 1:41:54Speaker 3: good of a debates. But I like it, Loo. I
- 1:41:57Speaker 3: like the way you think you can't you can't pass
- 1:42:00Speaker 3: up on a quarterback that I can't win if you
- 1:42:02Speaker 3: don't play.
- 1:42:03Speaker 11: I don't know.
- 1:42:03Speaker 2: Yeah, it's it's it's getting to sound like me saying
- 1:42:07Speaker 2: I hope the Patriots are not a team that's easy
- 1:42:10Speaker 2: to defend. It's getting to be the same thing when
- 1:42:13Speaker 2: we say, if you like the quarterback, you gotta take him.
- 1:42:17Speaker 11: My thing is say say we take may Is. Is
- 1:42:19Speaker 11: he gonna sit for the whole year? Like I know
- 1:42:21Speaker 11: they'll say, oh, he's gonna sit, but probably not because
- 1:42:23Speaker 11: once it's once it's week five and you're you're one
- 1:42:26Speaker 11: in four and those boo birds come out. I think
- 1:42:28Speaker 11: you gotta play him, no matter because people's jobs are
- 1:42:31Speaker 11: on the line there and stuff.
- 1:42:31Speaker 2: I think so too.
- 1:42:32Speaker 11: And then are you gonna like, if he's not right,
- 1:42:34Speaker 11: if our O linees trash, is he gonna get.
- 1:42:36Speaker 3: Hurt when he's ready? Like I think that. I don't
- 1:42:39Speaker 3: think the idea is we've determined today that he's not
- 1:42:43Speaker 3: playing all year. Now, maybe I'm wrong, maybe that's exactly
- 1:42:46Speaker 3: what they're gonna do, but I think if they feel
- 1:42:48Speaker 3: like he's ready, they'll do it now. The other the
- 1:42:51Speaker 3: other side of that is everybody says, you know, like
- 1:42:53Speaker 3: start percent and if they're you know, when they're one
- 1:42:56Speaker 3: and five. What if you start percent and just start
- 1:43:01Speaker 3: winning a few games? What are the schedules light early
- 1:43:04Speaker 3: and you get off to a good start. Now, I
- 1:43:06Speaker 3: would still play the rookie when I felt like the
- 1:43:08Speaker 3: rookies ready. Miami did this three or four years ago
- 1:43:12Speaker 3: with Tua. You remember this. They got off to a
- 1:43:15Speaker 3: decent start with Ryan Fitzpatrick. Now, you weren't going anywhere
- 1:43:17Speaker 3: with Ryan Fitzpatrick as your quarterback. But I want to
- 1:43:22Speaker 3: say they were over five hundred I think so, and
- 1:43:25Speaker 3: they were in the playoff race and they made the
- 1:43:27Speaker 3: move anyway, and then Tua finished the season with a
- 1:43:30Speaker 3: winning record too. They didn't make the playoffs, but they
- 1:43:33Speaker 3: were okay, and you know, obviously two has been the
- 1:43:35Speaker 3: guy ever since. But I wonder if, let's say, instead
- 1:43:41Speaker 3: of one and five, they went, uh, you know, in
- 1:43:43Speaker 3: four and two in the first six with Brissette.
- 1:43:48Speaker 2: Robin the cat kills can't catch you to engage guy.
- 1:43:54Speaker 2: My feeling Robin the Cats skills. I'm not upset in
- 1:43:56Speaker 2: the lack of free agency. I'm not upset bending. I
- 1:43:59Speaker 2: think we had a lot of players worth keeping on
- 1:44:01Speaker 2: our team, and I agree with Coach Mail that the
- 1:44:03Speaker 2: free Asian crop wasn't particularly good. Coach I am upset
- 1:44:07Speaker 2: that Lagarious Snead isn't on this team. He's a young
- 1:44:09Speaker 2: player who could have been had for a pick next
- 1:44:12Speaker 2: year in money which the team has. Should we be
- 1:44:16Speaker 2: hammering Elliott Wolf for what seems to be a lack
- 1:44:18Speaker 2: of purpose?
- 1:44:21Speaker 3: So it's Snead that was the one that has you
- 1:44:24Speaker 3: upset without anybody else.
- 1:44:26Speaker 11: Yes, it's just this year. We have one pick in
- 1:44:27Speaker 11: every round.
- 1:44:28Speaker 3: Correct, one is one extra one the sixth round.
- 1:44:31Speaker 11: But now because the match, but now that's a third
- 1:44:34Speaker 11: round pick, Like that's a lot to give up for
- 1:44:36Speaker 11: you need to be certain on it. So oh no,
- 1:44:38Speaker 11: you see it both ways.
- 1:44:40Speaker 3: Yeah, I think the big thing for sneed is the money. Yeah,
- 1:44:46Speaker 3: like I think you would give up a third round
- 1:44:48Speaker 3: pick for a top flight, all pro caliber corner.
- 1:44:55Speaker 2: Andrew Wright said, it's becoming increasingly obvious that free agents
- 1:45:00Speaker 2: don't want to come to New England. If you look
- 1:45:02Speaker 2: at Calvin Ridley's comments about why he didn't sign with
- 1:45:05Speaker 2: New England high taxes, too cold, girlfriend, didn't like it.
- 1:45:08Speaker 2: We never heard those reasons.
- 1:45:09Speaker 3: Did we see those comments from Ridley by Yeah, I
- 1:45:11Speaker 3: don't know if he said those. Yes, we just wanted
- 1:45:14Speaker 3: to Yeah, we never heard.
- 1:45:15Speaker 2: Those reasons when Brady was here. Our only hope is
- 1:45:18Speaker 2: to sign rookies that don't have a choice but to
- 1:45:21Speaker 2: play here. How different would this free agency period be
- 1:45:24Speaker 2: if we had Mike Vrabel as our head coach. And
- 1:45:27Speaker 2: one last comment, I don't know. I don't know why
- 1:45:31Speaker 2: they didn't sign a veteran left slash swing tackle Jonah Williams,
- 1:45:36Speaker 2: and he says in parentheses, or even a wide receiver
- 1:45:38Speaker 2: to Curtis Samuel or Mooney, whoever the quarterback will be.
- 1:45:42Speaker 2: I think they will need someone in both of those
- 1:45:44Speaker 2: positions that has some type of experience.
- 1:45:46Speaker 3: Yeah, I agree, and those are not big money kind
- 1:45:49Speaker 3: of moves. I think they could have gotten an example
- 1:45:52Speaker 3: at both of those spots and not it would have
- 1:45:55Speaker 3: been in line with the kind of free agent pickups
- 1:45:57Speaker 3: that they've made, not break the bank kind of guy. Yeah,
- 1:46:01Speaker 3: the tackle especially. I think there were a couple of
- 1:46:04Speaker 3: couple of options that they didn't seem like they were
- 1:46:07Speaker 3: in on. But the Ridley thing, I was taken aback
- 1:46:11Speaker 3: when Ridley was introduced in Tennessee and the Patriots never
- 1:46:13Speaker 3: came up like there was nothing about any options, and
- 1:46:18Speaker 3: to my knowledge anyway, unless I missed it, I'm not
- 1:46:21Speaker 3: pretending to have watched the whole Calvin Ridley press conference
- 1:46:24Speaker 3: start to finish. But yeah, I'm not so sure the
- 1:46:28Speaker 3: Patriots were even in the ballgame that that would be
- 1:46:31Speaker 3: more concerning to me.
- 1:46:33Speaker 2: Juels, who's online? One? All right? Dan? And Colorado? What's up?
- 1:46:39Speaker 10: Dan?
- 1:46:39Speaker 3: The man?
- 1:46:40Speaker 9: Hey, guys, So I read a Sports Illustrated article this
- 1:46:43Speaker 9: morning in which they detailed the Vikings possibly trading the eleventh,
- 1:46:46Speaker 9: the twenty third, and potentially a first rone pick next
- 1:46:49Speaker 9: year to the Patriots for three I think they should
- 1:46:51Speaker 9: absolutely do this. This team is clearly not ready to
- 1:46:54Speaker 9: really be a contender right now. I think that partially
- 1:46:57Speaker 9: has something to do with why they didn't compete in
- 1:46:59Speaker 9: free agent. See, I don't know if that's how they
- 1:47:01Speaker 9: want to build their team, nor should they. This team
- 1:47:04Speaker 9: really is doesn't have anything to highlight on offense right now.
- 1:47:07Speaker 9: So I would love the opportunity to get two first
- 1:47:09Speaker 9: round picks and really start building the team that way,
- 1:47:12Speaker 9: as opposed to getting a Drake may or Jason Daniels
- 1:47:14Speaker 9: and watch some struggle for a couple of years until
- 1:47:16Speaker 9: we have to build a team around them. But let
- 1:47:18Speaker 9: them know your guys' top.
- 1:47:19Speaker 3: Well, I would just say what he's gonna No one
- 1:47:23Speaker 3: really wants to know the conversation.
- 1:47:25Speaker 2: He's going to hang up and listen, Paul, but I
- 1:47:27Speaker 2: wanted to have a conversation first time, long time. I'll
- 1:47:30Speaker 2: hang up and listen.
- 1:47:31Speaker 3: So I just would say, like it to me. I'll
- 1:47:34Speaker 3: steal Fred's line so he doesn't have to keep repeating it,
- 1:47:36Speaker 3: Like if if you really like that quarterback, I don't understand.
- 1:47:39Speaker 2: That's part of the building, right, Like, so.
- 1:47:44Speaker 3: If the guy can't play, we're all in agreement, Like
- 1:47:46Speaker 3: it's a bad move, you know, Like if the guy
- 1:47:49Speaker 3: ends up being a bust. He's a bust. I don't
- 1:47:52Speaker 3: want to hear about. He really was great, but he
- 1:47:55Speaker 3: didn't have anything to work with. Because there's a lot
- 1:47:58Speaker 3: of guys that find a way to work with what
- 1:48:00Speaker 3: they have and at least show their ability. Okay, c J.
- 1:48:06Speaker 3: Stroud did not inherit inherit the Kansas City Chiefs of
- 1:48:10Speaker 3: three years ago. I even want to use them from
- 1:48:12Speaker 3: last year, like he made the Texans better. His presence
- 1:48:18Speaker 3: lifted Nico Collins and Devin Singletary. Those guys were just
- 1:48:24Speaker 3: run of the mill players that he made look good
- 1:48:26Speaker 3: because that's what good quarterbacks do. And it's not a
- 1:48:29Speaker 3: great offense. It's better than the Patriots, I get it.
- 1:48:32Speaker 3: You know, Laramie Tunsel's a good tackle. He's much better
- 1:48:36Speaker 3: than anything the Patriots have at tackle. But he's the
- 1:48:40Speaker 3: reason why, right, And why would you not be interested
- 1:48:43Speaker 3: if you think again, to steal Fred's line, If you
- 1:48:47Speaker 3: think Drake may is good enough, why would you not
- 1:48:49Speaker 3: be interested to see if he can lift your team
- 1:48:51Speaker 3: like that.
- 1:48:52Speaker 2: It's like, man, I've got the money and someone's offering
- 1:48:57Speaker 2: me a maserati. I can have it, but I don't
- 1:49:00Speaker 2: have a garage.
- 1:49:02Speaker 3: Now if you don't. If you don't think that, then
- 1:49:05Speaker 3: I'm all for that. Was that Christian?
- 1:49:07Speaker 10: Who was that?
- 1:49:07Speaker 3: I forget who it was, right, I'm all for that theory.
- 1:49:10Speaker 3: If I don't think listen, I'm not taking Drake maybe
- 1:49:12Speaker 3: because I'm just not sure he's all that good. I
- 1:49:14Speaker 3: think he's gonna get overdrafted by somebody. By all means,
- 1:49:17Speaker 3: if you have an opportunity to get eleven, twenty three
- 1:49:19Speaker 3: and a twenty five first round pick, yeah take it.
- 1:49:21Speaker 11: Do you think when they're making that decision they're looking
- 1:49:23Speaker 11: at next year's class too.
- 1:49:25Speaker 3: Yeah, that's part of the reason why I'm worried about it,
- 1:49:27Speaker 3: because I don't think there's gonna be a lot in
- 1:49:29Speaker 3: next year's class.
- 1:49:30Speaker 11: I mean, I only quarterback quarterback. Yeah, it's just Chador
- 1:49:34Speaker 11: the Jackson dark kid. I mean, how good he is.
- 1:49:36Speaker 3: But at the same time, are you convinced that I
- 1:49:39Speaker 3: don't do Sanders, But are you convinced that he's going
- 1:49:41Speaker 3: to be a player?
- 1:49:43Speaker 2: He be solid.
- 1:49:43Speaker 11: I think he's gonna be.
- 1:49:44Speaker 3: He'll run around and make plays, but that's about it.
- 1:49:46Speaker 2: But the same time, I don't reach for quarterback this
- 1:49:49Speaker 2: year because just because I don't think the crop next
- 1:49:51Speaker 2: year is good. It's the same. I don't know.
- 1:49:53Speaker 3: I don't want to reach under any circumstances.
- 1:49:55Speaker 11: If you love may or Daniels, take them and take them.
- 1:49:59Speaker 11: It's needed. Quarterback's most important position. Brissette's not the long
- 1:50:02Speaker 11: term answer, So.
- 1:50:05Speaker 2: Nate Northeast, Pennsylvania. I just wanted to shout out the
- 1:50:07Speaker 2: Patriots dot Com team for the awesome content pumped out
- 1:50:11Speaker 2: relating to the dynasty. Excuse me, wow, this is us.
- 1:50:16Speaker 2: I had Italian with Hot sand Your recaps were fantastic,
- 1:50:21Speaker 2: especially the last episode with Jeff and Matt. My favorite
- 1:50:24Speaker 2: feature in the doc was Scott Pioli's commentary. Watching him
- 1:50:27Speaker 2: inspired me to go back and listen to his double
- 1:50:29Speaker 2: feature on the Pats from the Past. I highly recommend
- 1:50:33Speaker 2: everyone listening right now to tune into those episodes. Scott
- 1:50:36Speaker 2: has an awesome perspective in history with the team, and
- 1:50:39Speaker 2: I learned a lot. Lastly, watching the doc has me wondering,
- 1:50:43Speaker 2: I'm thirty years old right now. Do any of you
- 1:50:45Speaker 2: think we'll learn more about the Butler benching in Super
- 1:50:49Speaker 2: Bowl fifty two in my lifetime? That's a good question,
- 1:50:53Speaker 2: you think.
- 1:50:53Speaker 3: So, Paul, It will come out he's young, he's thirty.
- 1:50:56Speaker 2: Yeah, me, I don't know. Yeah, much time, no, I think.
- 1:51:01Speaker 3: I think at some point someone's gonna tell.
- 1:51:04Speaker 11: I still need to see the last two episodes. I'm busy.
- 1:51:06Speaker 11: I have to watch the last two.
- 1:51:10Speaker 2: What do we find out first? Why Butler didn't play?
- 1:51:14Speaker 2: Who really killed Jack Kennedy? What do we find out first? Okay, Butler?
- 1:51:20Speaker 11: All right, Kennedy?
- 1:51:24Speaker 3: Maybe it was both. I don't know if Lombardy Butler
- 1:51:27Speaker 3: didn't play. That's why Butler didn't play.
- 1:51:31Speaker 2: Let's see Andre from New Jersey. Let me tell you
- 1:51:35Speaker 2: a few things that grind my gear, as he says.
- 1:51:38Speaker 3: One, you guys really grinds my gears.
- 1:51:40Speaker 2: You guys talk all the time that we have no
- 1:51:43Speaker 2: pass rush other than Jude On and we need to
- 1:51:45Speaker 2: draft a guy. But can we give a player named
- 1:51:48Speaker 2: Keyon White a chance to see what he can do
- 1:51:51Speaker 2: in two years in this defensive scheme? First? Please?
- 1:51:54Speaker 3: I don't think he's an edge rusher. I think he's
- 1:51:56Speaker 3: an interior. Yeah. I think he's gonna play next to Barmore. Yeah,
- 1:51:59Speaker 3: he's gonna got his chance to play.
- 1:52:01Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:52:02Speaker 3: I think that's why they got rid of Lawrence guy.
- 1:52:04Speaker 2: Yep, I mean, keyon White. He wasn't a pass rusher
- 1:52:06Speaker 2: in college. It's not like he's gonna, you know, all
- 1:52:09Speaker 2: of a sudden become one.
- 1:52:11Speaker 3: Yeah. I mean I think that he might have the ability,
- 1:52:13Speaker 3: but he could be good. Yeah, and maybe he has
- 1:52:16Speaker 3: the ability to pick up some sacks because he's like Barbore.
- 1:52:19Speaker 3: I don't I don't think Barbo is a quote pass rusher,
- 1:52:22Speaker 3: but he got to the quarterback a lot. Yeah, you
- 1:52:24Speaker 3: know what I mean.
- 1:52:25Speaker 2: The other thing that grinds Andre's gears is the PU
- 1:52:27Speaker 2: halftime show needs to go. Oh, that bald headed guy
- 1:52:31Speaker 2: with the beer doesn't bring the excitement, and the show
- 1:52:34Speaker 2: is very dull with boring conversations.
- 1:52:36Speaker 3: He's too cool.
- 1:52:37Speaker 2: I'd rather listen to Paul wolf down some chicken fingers
- 1:52:39Speaker 2: and fries for seven minutes. He's welcome and hop on
- 1:52:42Speaker 2: the show. Whenever I have them call in, you just
- 1:52:44Speaker 2: gotta get more excited.
- 1:52:45Speaker 11: All right.
- 1:52:46Speaker 3: We didn't have any shirt off, we didn't have a
- 1:52:49Speaker 3: halftime show. We didn't have any trivia today. We did
- 1:52:52Speaker 3: Mayo today at halftime.
- 1:52:53Speaker 2: Yeah, this week I'll try to juice it up and
- 1:52:55Speaker 2: finally already hate this new regime. The only thing I
- 1:52:58Speaker 2: like was bringing back when you and Dougar I miss.
- 1:53:01Speaker 3: Bb Okay, well you seem to be the only one.
- 1:53:06Speaker 2: Yeah, where were you the last three years?
- 1:53:07Speaker 3: I've been listening to a lot of comments come out
- 1:53:10Speaker 3: of Fox borrowing. That's the only one that I heard
- 1:53:13Speaker 3: that missed a bb.
- 1:53:14Speaker 2: Uh Jules, who's online? Three? All right, Bronson, you're up,
- 1:53:20Speaker 2: arroyo Bronson?
- 1:53:24Speaker 19: Hey, how you guys doing okay?
- 1:53:28Speaker 10: Good?
- 1:53:28Speaker 5: So just a quick question for you. So, I'm kind
- 1:53:31Speaker 5: of on the same thing as I was sick when
- 1:53:33Speaker 5: we paid Juju the same contract as Jacobe Myers. Now,
- 1:53:38Speaker 5: going off of that, what do you guys think we
- 1:53:41Speaker 5: could actually get for him in a trade.
- 1:53:45Speaker 3: For Juju for Juju?
- 1:53:46Speaker 2: Nothing like a six round pick? Maybe? Maybe?
- 1:53:50Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 1:53:50Speaker 3: It might be like you you sent a seventh and
- 1:53:53Speaker 3: get a sixth.
- 1:53:54Speaker 5: Yeah, okay, So what if talking about these trades for
- 1:53:59Speaker 5: some of these receivers, if you included Juju in that trade,
- 1:54:04Speaker 5: and that would bump our like we'd have to give
- 1:54:07Speaker 5: them a fifth instead of like a sixth or.
- 1:54:10Speaker 26: Something or what are your guys?
- 1:54:11Speaker 2: That's a possibility.
- 1:54:13Speaker 3: I think that And I'm not trying to be disrespectful
- 1:54:15Speaker 3: of Juju here, but that lowers the trade value. Oh no, no, no, Fred,
- 1:54:20Speaker 3: it does because of the contract. That means you get
- 1:54:23Speaker 3: lest on contract. That's why I preface it by saying,
- 1:54:26Speaker 3: I'm not being disrespectful to Juju.
- 1:54:28Speaker 2: What's he getting now?
- 1:54:29Speaker 3: His marketability is not very.
- 1:54:31Speaker 2: Good right now?
- 1:54:33Speaker 11: Eight around that right?
- 1:54:34Speaker 2: Something like that. I don't know.
- 1:54:36Speaker 3: But someone gets the salary, not the signing. Someone has
- 1:54:40Speaker 3: to get that, so you'd get less.
- 1:54:42Speaker 2: Thanks Bronson.
- 1:54:43Speaker 3: Now that said, Bronson's not wrong like you. You try,
- 1:54:47Speaker 3: you see if someone will take him.
- 1:54:50Speaker 2: Who's online? One? Jules Oliver? What's up?
- 1:54:57Speaker 3: May I have another Oliver?
- 1:55:00Speaker 2: Please? Sir? I'm here, okay, and we're here.
- 1:55:06Speaker 19: We're all here, so just just want to feedback or
- 1:55:09Speaker 19: your thoughts on this. I know that the Vikings trading
- 1:55:12Speaker 19: up is probably not worth as much as the Chargers
- 1:55:17Speaker 19: moving up. But in the case there, how much would
- 1:55:20Speaker 19: we get for the Chargers moving up to three? We
- 1:55:23Speaker 19: move back to five? Still get our guy, because Chargers
- 1:55:26Speaker 19: and Cardinals are not getting quarterbacks?
- 1:55:31Speaker 3: But why but why do the Chargers want to move up?
- 1:55:36Speaker 19: Arvin Harrison at three versus a neighbors or a doom day?
- 1:55:40Speaker 3: But you think the Chargers are going to move up
- 1:55:42Speaker 3: from five to three for that.
- 1:55:45Speaker 19: That's what I'm saying. What they do that and what
- 1:55:47Speaker 19: value I mean?
- 1:55:49Speaker 3: I think personally, I think that'd be a very foolish
- 1:55:52Speaker 3: move need to in this wide receiver class, I think
- 1:55:54Speaker 3: that'd be a waste to give up any resources to
- 1:55:57Speaker 3: get up two spots so you get Harris instead of Neighbors.
- 1:56:01Speaker 11: Who they take Harrison, Neighbors or Bowers.
- 1:56:04Speaker 3: The first of all, they could get any of those
- 1:56:06Speaker 3: guys at five. Could But even if you lose one
- 1:56:09Speaker 3: of them, there are a lot of people that think
- 1:56:11Speaker 3: that Neighbors is better. Like Janel Jeremiah, who's one of
- 1:56:14Speaker 3: the most respected guys, isn't sure that Neighbors is any
- 1:56:17Speaker 3: different than But.
- 1:56:18Speaker 2: It only matters what the charges think, and maybe they
- 1:56:20Speaker 2: think Marvin Harrison is a generational talent.
- 1:56:23Speaker 3: But what I'm saying is I think it would be
- 1:56:24Speaker 3: foolish to trade anything to move up two spots to
- 1:56:28Speaker 3: do something like this Harbo trade up. Now, if it
- 1:56:30Speaker 3: was a situation where you have a quarterback that you
- 1:56:34Speaker 3: needed to get and you love the quarterback, you think
- 1:56:37Speaker 3: he's generational, that's different because now I can't get him
- 1:56:40Speaker 3: at five, but I have to move up to get him.
- 1:56:44Speaker 3: That's like, I don't think it's realistic that the Chargers
- 1:56:48Speaker 3: would move up to get Marvin Harrison. I think you.
- 1:56:51Speaker 3: First of all, I think there's a very good chance
- 1:56:52Speaker 3: they could get him at five.
- 1:56:55Speaker 2: All right, thanks for the call. One more call? Who's online?
- 1:56:58Speaker 3: Two?
- 1:57:00Speaker 2: Hey Jonah, Jonah in the whale? All right, what's up?
- 1:57:08Speaker 3: Uh?
- 1:57:08Speaker 23: So, my question is about the quarterback depth in this draft,
- 1:57:12Speaker 23: Like we haven't looked at Caleb Williams because we know
- 1:57:15Speaker 23: we're not getting it, or at least that's me yeh.
- 1:57:17Speaker 23: So I'm wondering do you think that the fact that
- 1:57:19Speaker 23: there's this guy that everyone knows is great?
- 1:57:23Speaker 10: Do you think that's.
- 1:57:23Speaker 23: Changing our opinion of May and Daniels? Are we valuing
- 1:57:27Speaker 23: them wrong because there's this guy who's better we're not
- 1:57:31Speaker 23: even thinking about.
- 1:57:34Speaker 3: I know, I don't think I think you evaluate the
- 1:57:37Speaker 3: quarterbacks individually.
- 1:57:38Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm not quite following you. And I think Caleb
- 1:57:42Speaker 2: Williams is so good that we have a bad evaluation
- 1:57:45Speaker 2: of Daniels in May. Is that what you're saying or yeah,
- 1:57:49Speaker 2: I guess.
- 1:57:49Speaker 23: That's one of the things that you know, there's a
- 1:57:53Speaker 23: best guy.
- 1:57:54Speaker 3: Yeah, Like.
- 1:57:58Speaker 23: If they're worse than Caleb Williams. Maybe they're good, but
- 1:58:03Speaker 23: maybe we think of them as great comparing them to
- 1:58:05Speaker 23: the right people. Maybe I'm not making any sense.
- 1:58:08Speaker 3: No, you're not well, Yeah, I just I don't. I
- 1:58:11Speaker 3: don't get the phone's a little sketchy, Yeah there, But yeah,
- 1:58:15Speaker 3: I didn't. I didn't really quite understand the logic.
- 1:58:17Speaker 11: I think it's just saying Caleb Williams is such a
- 1:58:19Speaker 11: high prospect that's making us look at the other two differently.
- 1:58:22Speaker 3: But he's saying they're making them look look at him better.
- 1:58:25Speaker 3: I would think if that's the case, you'd look at
- 1:58:27Speaker 3: him as being worse. Just because they're not as good
- 1:58:29Speaker 3: as Caleb Williams doesn't mean they're not worthy prospects. But
- 1:58:32Speaker 3: he's saying the opposite. They're not as good as Caleb Williams,
- 1:58:35Speaker 3: but we're making them look better than they are. And
- 1:58:38Speaker 3: I don't know. I don't get little confusing.
- 1:58:40Speaker 2: I don't know anyway, But I don't know how cal
- 1:58:42Speaker 2: Williams cried.
- 1:58:42Speaker 3: The bottom line is I don't know how they're looking
- 1:58:44Speaker 3: at him, Freddy.
- 1:58:45Speaker 2: Do you I don't, all right, but I do know
- 1:58:48Speaker 2: that that's the end of this show. We'll be back
