- 2:03Speaker 4: Lots to get to.
- 2:04Speaker 3: This morning, we are already underway with our first ever
- 2:08Speaker 3: Drop your Snacks event. It's happening on our parking lot
- 2:11Speaker 3: eleven eleven Virginia Street, Ease and Charleston, which is where
- 2:15Speaker 3: studios are. In fact, we actually started at seven this
- 2:18Speaker 3: morning and we're gonna go till six pm this evening.
- 2:21Speaker 3: Big shout out to the folks at Union Mission for
- 2:23Speaker 3: helping us out. We are collecting non perishable food items,
- 2:28Speaker 3: you know, the kinds of things kids would like, think
- 2:30Speaker 3: about cereals, think about mac and cheese, juices, things of
- 2:35Speaker 3: that nature. Simply drop them off on our parking lot
- 2:38Speaker 3: eleven eleven Virginia Street, Ease and Charleston. In fact, you
- 2:41Speaker 3: don't even have to get out of your car. That's
- 2:43Speaker 3: the cool thing about this, because we set up about
- 2:45Speaker 3: seven o'clock out there with members of our staff that
- 2:48Speaker 3: have been out there. Big shout out to my buddy
- 2:51Speaker 3: who's just volunteering this time, Brian Brennan, who just kind
- 2:54Speaker 3: of showed up and said, hey, I want to help.
- 2:55Speaker 3: And so Brian is out there help. It's not even
- 2:57Speaker 3: employed here and he's out there on our parking lot
- 3:00Speaker 3: helping us out today. So we certainly do appreciate him
- 3:02Speaker 3: and the other folks that are helping out as well.
- 3:05Speaker 3: And I got to give a big shout out to
- 3:08Speaker 3: the folks, and I think my brain ain't what it
- 3:11Speaker 3: used to be. Communicare is the name of the company.
- 3:14Speaker 3: About seven thirty or so. This morning, seven forty five,
- 3:18Speaker 3: we're out on the parking lot and just you know,
- 3:21Speaker 3: kind of waiting to get everything up and rolling, and
- 3:23Speaker 3: this this big truck, big Dodge Ram truck pulls up.
- 3:27Speaker 3: And we always tell people at these drops, you know
- 3:29Speaker 3: that you can't park on her lot. I mean, we
- 3:32Speaker 3: got crews to help. You've got a lot to get
- 3:34Speaker 3: it out, but we have visitors to the station, people
- 3:36Speaker 3: picking up prizes and so on and so forth, but
- 3:38Speaker 3: we always tell them, you know, you can't park here.
- 3:40Speaker 3: And that's what I thought this particular lady was doing
- 3:42Speaker 3: when she was parking there. And so I realized that
- 3:45Speaker 3: because her entire truck bed was filled up with snacks
- 3:48Speaker 3: from the folks there at Communicare, they had taken up
- 3:52Speaker 3: donations among the employees, and I presume that they went
- 3:56Speaker 3: out to their sam store or something like that, because
- 3:58Speaker 3: there were boxes, I mean giant boxes of stuff, bags
- 4:02Speaker 3: the shoppy bags I mean, we carried I don't know
- 4:05Speaker 3: how much of that stuff out there so a big
- 4:07Speaker 3: shout out to the folks at Communicare for doing this,
- 4:12Speaker 3: and again it's the kindness of West Virginia's that's what
- 4:15Speaker 3: we do. The employees made it happen and we appreciate them.
- 4:19Speaker 3: We're out there until six o'clock tonight and you can
- 4:21Speaker 3: take cash. We can take cash and checks. And the
- 4:25Speaker 3: folks from Union Mission are out here with us today,
- 4:28Speaker 3: so it goes directly to them. I mean literally, you
- 4:30Speaker 3: had a lady pull up earlier I was talking to
- 4:32Speaker 3: She gave me a ten dollar bill. I went over
- 4:34Speaker 3: and handed it to the gentleman from Union Missions. So
- 4:36Speaker 3: here you go and they'll take it and they'll be
- 4:38Speaker 3: able to do good things with it. And I think
- 4:41Speaker 3: something that's very important to point out what these things
- 4:44Speaker 3: is there are various programs that's around the state of
- 4:49Speaker 3: West Virginia that do things like that, and God bless
- 4:51Speaker 3: all of them from doing it. I had my good
- 4:53Speaker 3: friend Doug Irwin from Backpack Buddies on the show earlier
- 4:56Speaker 3: this week, and they do that, but not every area
- 5:00Speaker 3: of the state is lucky enough to have something like this.
- 5:05Speaker 3: And so the folks at Union Mission, you know, statewide organization,
- 5:08Speaker 3: they got the network that they can get to some
- 5:10Speaker 3: of these areas that aren't served because there are, like
- 5:13Speaker 3: I said, even several school systems that provide hot lunches.
- 5:16Speaker 3: They'll drive a bus to a community and set up
- 5:18Speaker 3: and they'll give food out for the kids and whatever.
- 5:20Speaker 3: But not every community has those. And that's one of
- 5:22Speaker 3: the great things about dealing with Adjacent and the folks
- 5:25Speaker 3: at Union Mission is they have this network all over
- 5:28Speaker 3: the state of West Virginia that they are able to
- 5:31Speaker 3: then get these items into the hands of the right people.
- 5:35Speaker 3: And again, we're talking about things that kids would like
- 5:37Speaker 3: to snack on this summer. We're talking about you can't
- 5:39Speaker 3: go wrong with goldfish, crackers, can't go wrong with with
- 5:42Speaker 3: ramen noodles, you can't go wrong with juices, you know, cookies, crackers,
- 5:50Speaker 3: potato chips, things like that. So if you can find
- 5:52Speaker 3: it in the kindness of your heart to help us
- 5:57Speaker 3: out with this, we definitely would appreciate it. We're going
- 6:00Speaker 3: to be on the lot until six o'clock tonight along
- 6:03Speaker 3: with Union Mission, collecting these items. And again, you know,
- 6:06Speaker 3: you can do what the folks that one company did
- 6:08Speaker 3: when they brought in box after box, or you can
- 6:11Speaker 3: bring in a single box.
- 6:12Speaker 4: This here. We don't care.
- 6:13Speaker 3: You can go up to your local dollar store as
- 6:16Speaker 3: got them clean out your pantries. Just make sure it's
- 6:18Speaker 3: still fresh and stuff, you know. And it's that simple.
- 6:22Speaker 3: And again it's going to be a hot day to day,
- 6:23Speaker 3: so you don't even have to get out of your car.
- 6:25Speaker 3: We are out there, we are staffing. It's our it's
- 6:28Speaker 3: our station, WCCHS. It's ninety eight to seven Mountain, it's
- 6:31Speaker 3: ninety six to one kwskaz V one hundred to beat
- 6:35Speaker 3: Charleston's ESPN Radio. We are all out there on the lot.
- 6:39Speaker 3: Somebody two or three people will be there to unload
- 6:41Speaker 3: your vehicle for you, or just to greet you and
- 6:43Speaker 3: say thank you for helping helping folks out. So I
- 6:47Speaker 3: have more in that a little bit later on. I
- 6:48Speaker 3: think some of the folks that are out there from
- 6:50Speaker 3: our stations is going to stop by the studio a
- 6:52Speaker 3: little bit later on. Also, it's going to be joined
- 6:54Speaker 3: by some folks from the Capital City Fraternal Order of Police.
- 6:57Speaker 3: They've got a big event going on this weekend and
- 6:59Speaker 3: tomorrow tomorrow is National Donut Day and celebrating a bit early.
- 7:06Speaker 3: We're telling you about it today. We scheduled Teresa Ortiz
- 7:10Speaker 3: from the Donut Connection on the show today. Not sure
- 7:13Speaker 3: what happened. Well, maybe she's making the donuts, as the
- 7:14Speaker 3: old commercial says, for a different company, but she has
- 7:18Speaker 3: not joined us yet. This morning we apologize for that.
- 7:22Speaker 3: Things happen. We'll see, probably won't be able to get
- 7:24Speaker 3: her tomorrow on National Donut Day, so we'll maybe try
- 7:27Speaker 3: to have her on again next year. But I do
- 7:29Speaker 3: appreciate her for well making the effort I guess to
- 7:34Speaker 3: try to get here. Maybe maybe she's out on the
- 7:35Speaker 3: parking lot trying to get in right now. I don't know,
- 7:37Speaker 3: but tomorrow is National Donut Day.
- 7:39Speaker 4: Just so you know.
- 7:39Speaker 3: Also want to let you know that the State Baseball
- 7:42Speaker 3: Tournament gets underway over at Gomart Ballpark here in Charleston,
- 7:47Speaker 3: and you can catch the all. We are the exclusive
- 7:49Speaker 3: home of the State Baseball Tournament WV Metronews dot com.
- 7:52Speaker 3: Also on our stations as well, we get several local
- 7:57Speaker 3: teams that are in the tournament this year, including George,
- 8:01Speaker 3: Washington and Hurricane. Some of the local teams that are
- 8:04Speaker 3: in it, and a reminder that all of the championship
- 8:07Speaker 3: games on Saturday will be streamed on Metro News TV,
- 8:11Speaker 3: So a great time to remind you that if you
- 8:13Speaker 3: have not yet downloaded the Metro News TV app, make
- 8:16Speaker 3: sure that you do so you can catch all those
- 8:17Speaker 3: championship games. Dave Wilson co host of Talkline.
- 8:21Speaker 4: He and TJ.
- 8:21Speaker 3: Meadows take care of talk Line. Dave Wilson actually calling action,
- 8:25Speaker 3: one of the folks along with Fred and Kyle and
- 8:27Speaker 3: Lukewigs that are calling the action. Dave is going to
- 8:29Speaker 3: join us a little bit later on. He's actually in
- 8:32Speaker 3: Charleston to do talk Line from here, then he's going
- 8:35Speaker 3: to head over to the ballpark. So Wilson's going to
- 8:37Speaker 3: join us a little bit later on the show to
- 8:38Speaker 3: talk about kind of give us a little bit of
- 8:40Speaker 3: a preview of what we can expect with the state tournament.
- 8:42Speaker 4: So we got all that going on.
- 8:44Speaker 3: Plus, Tomorrow is the final day for WV bargains dot Com.
- 8:50Speaker 3: This is our online auction that we put together. We

- 12:25Speaker 3: Our first ever Drop your Snacks event is happening right
- 12:28Speaker 3: now on our parking lot eleven eleven Virginia Street's Charleston
- 12:31Speaker 3: with Union Mission. We got the crews standing by out there.
- 12:34Speaker 3: Rob Reel from ninety six to one KWS, Steve Animal
- 12:36Speaker 3: from the Mountain, Stephen Jenny are out there Form V
- 12:39Speaker 3: one hundred as well, or at least will be when
- 12:41Speaker 3: they wrap up the show. So we're going to be
- 12:42Speaker 3: joined by some of those folks in studio just kind
- 12:45Speaker 3: of give us a little update on what's going on
- 12:47Speaker 3: out there. The hours again, we started at seven this morning,
- 12:49Speaker 3: going until six o'clock this evening. It's real simple, just
- 12:52Speaker 3: to bring us the snacks, food items, for the kids,
- 12:55Speaker 3: and we're going to give them directly to Union Mission.
- 12:57Speaker 3: The Union Mission truck is on our parking lot right now.
- 13:00Speaker 3: And if you want to make cash or a check donation,
- 13:02Speaker 3: you could do that as well. We'll be glad to
- 13:04Speaker 3: accept those. And again they're right there. We'll just literally
- 13:06Speaker 3: hand it right to them and we'll be able to
- 13:09Speaker 3: help out some kids that may be hungry this summertime.
- 13:13Speaker 3: School ended here in Kanawa County a couple of days ago.
- 13:15Speaker 3: And again, the great thing about Union Mission is that
- 13:19Speaker 3: lots of programs are doing things like this, and God
- 13:21Speaker 3: bless them for doing it, but they got connections all
- 13:23Speaker 3: over the state and there's a lot of the areas
- 13:25Speaker 3: that simply don't get served by some of these folks
- 13:28Speaker 3: that are doing good things. So that's the whole idea
- 13:31Speaker 3: behind that. The folks from the Capital City Fraternal Order
- 13:34Speaker 3: Police get the name right on that, Yes that is,
- 13:36Speaker 3: or here's Steve Netto is with us.
- 13:38Speaker 4: Welcome to the show, Steve, Hey doing man, I'm doing great,
- 13:40Speaker 4: appreciate it be here all right? So what we got
- 13:42Speaker 4: going on?
- 13:43Speaker 3: First of all, what exactly is the Fraternal Order of Police?
- 13:45Speaker 3: You hear that thrown out there a lot, and give
- 13:48Speaker 3: us the mission, give us the whole idea of the
- 13:50Speaker 3: definition of what is the FOP.
- 13:52Speaker 8: The FOP, like you said, is the Fraternal or of Police,
- 13:55Speaker 8: and we've been around since nineteen thirty four, that's when
- 13:57Speaker 8: we were chartered. We actually represent the men and women
- 14:01Speaker 8: in law enforcement, mainly municipal departments, but we also have
- 14:06Speaker 8: deputies and troopers in our organization. But we represent them
- 14:10Speaker 8: with the voice for them. We take care of them,
- 14:12Speaker 8: we help them with issues, we help at the legislature,
- 14:16Speaker 8: laws and whatever can do, whatever we can do for
- 14:19Speaker 8: the betterment of law enforcement and the people of law
- 14:21Speaker 8: enforcement in the state of West Virginia.
- 14:23Speaker 4: And you don't need me to tell you that.
- 14:26Speaker 3: Maybe not in West Virginia because we actually respect law
- 14:29Speaker 3: and order in West Virginia, but around the nation, some
- 14:32Speaker 3: of our brothers and sisters in blue, it's been a
- 14:34Speaker 3: rough few years.
- 14:35Speaker 8: It's been a very rough few years, the drop and
- 14:39Speaker 8: respect for law enforcement, the drop in.
- 14:44Speaker 4: Interest in what's going on.
- 14:46Speaker 8: So we haven't seen it near to like you stated,
- 14:49Speaker 8: to the national level, but it has been an issue
- 14:52Speaker 8: even around here where law enforcement has been confronted and
- 14:56Speaker 8: you know, facing additional charges not just the data taking care.
- 15:00Speaker 9: Of people, but also additional problems and that's very unfortunate
- 15:05Speaker 9: to Dave Allen showing five eighty Live is brought to
- 15:07Speaker 9: you in part by Live Healthy West Virginia, presented by

- 15:30Speaker 4: So what you got going on?
- 15:32Speaker 8: Well, what we have going on? And let me finish
- 15:34Speaker 8: real quick. Yeah, Capital C Lodge number seventy four. We're
- 15:36Speaker 8: the biggest lodge in the state and we represent the
- 15:38Speaker 8: officers of the City of Charleston, the City of Dunbar,
- 15:41Speaker 8: the City of Nitro, the City of bel and some
- 15:44Speaker 8: like I say, some deputies in Kenall County and some
- 15:46Speaker 8: troopers and also some federal officers. But basically what we
- 15:50Speaker 8: have coming up here is on Saturday this June seventh,
- 15:54Speaker 8: from nine am to four pm is our twentieth annual
- 15:57Speaker 8: FOP FOPA Car Show, Car and Bike Show, and we've
- 16:03Speaker 8: been doing this now since two thousand and five and
- 16:06Speaker 8: this is our twentieth And I also mentioned the FOPA,
- 16:09Speaker 8: which I actually didn't introduce those folks, But there are
- 16:13Speaker 8: Associate Lodge who are citizens in the community who take
- 16:16Speaker 8: an active interest in law enforcement and supporting their law
- 16:19Speaker 8: enforcement officers. So we do have an Associate Lodge and
- 16:22Speaker 8: they have been a partner with us in this car
- 16:24Speaker 8: show since the beginning, so that's why it's called the
- 16:27Speaker 8: fopn FOPA Car and Bike Show.
- 16:29Speaker 3: I didn't know that there was a group for associates
- 16:32Speaker 3: for citizens in the community.
- 16:34Speaker 8: Yes there is, and again we have a fairly large
- 16:36Speaker 8: associate Lodge. The president, Jeff Stoker, is going to be
- 16:42Speaker 8: present Saturday and there'll be a big contention to them.
- 16:45Speaker 8: They volunteer and help us, as do the officers that
- 16:48Speaker 8: are there. Everyone there is a volunteer because the money
- 16:52Speaker 8: is basically going again to support the fopn FOPA, to
- 16:55Speaker 8: support our property there and our various buildings, and we
- 17:00Speaker 8: actually have a firearms range there, which most municipalities use
- 17:04Speaker 8: for quaest is this. This is out eighty two FOP Lane,
- 17:08Speaker 8: which is out Woodrum's Lane just past the DHHR building.
- 17:12Speaker 3: Okay, and where's the car sho If I didn't already
- 17:14Speaker 3: say that, where's the car show?
- 17:15Speaker 4: And everything it did?
- 17:16Speaker 8: The car show is located on that property. We have
- 17:18Speaker 8: a thirteen acre property there and some huge fields and
- 17:22Speaker 8: it'll be located in that field and we'd like.
- 17:25Speaker 4: For anybody and everybody. It's free.
- 17:27Speaker 8: We'd like for a guest to come and see what's
- 17:30Speaker 8: going on out there and see a nice car show,
- 17:33Speaker 8: maybe meet some people. And if you're interested in joining
- 17:35Speaker 8: the FOPA, that's a good time to show up and
- 17:38Speaker 8: do that and see and get access to the facilities.
- 17:41Speaker 3: Talking again with Steve Netto from the Capital City FOP
- 17:45Speaker 3: butt ave allan showing five e ad Live brought to
- 17:47Speaker 3: you in part by Husband's Pizza. This month get a
- 17:49Speaker 3: large eighteen inch Pepperoni pizza and a whole tenants sub
- 17:51Speaker 3: twenty three ninety nine. Find your closest hustans for delivery,
- 17:54Speaker 3: pick up or dine in and or go to a
- 17:57Speaker 3: Husband's Pizza dot com. What kind of vehicles machines. What
- 18:01Speaker 3: we see out at this car shows team.
- 18:02Speaker 8: Well, we've got a fine selection, of course I've been
- 18:06Speaker 8: going to it for years. But we see antique cars,
- 18:09Speaker 8: We will see some tuner cars. There will be some
- 18:12Speaker 8: really nice trucks.
- 18:16Speaker 4: From modern to old.
- 18:17Speaker 8: I've seen everything from sixty eight Camaros to the most
- 18:21Speaker 8: to the newest corvette. Also we have some new cars.
- 18:25Speaker 8: Downtown Ford supports us and they'll have several cars on display.
- 18:28Speaker 8: I heard last night possibly up to eight vehicles, brand
- 18:31Speaker 8: new cars that you can get in and out of
- 18:33Speaker 8: and look at.
- 18:34Speaker 4: So we appreciate that.
- 18:35Speaker 8: But if you if you're into antiques, or if you're
- 18:38Speaker 8: into hot rods or modern cars, that's the place to come.
- 18:42Speaker 8: And motorcycles of course, and again the motorcycles. It runs
- 18:46Speaker 8: the gamut of antique motorcycles all the way up to
- 18:48Speaker 8: brand new Harley Davidson.
- 18:50Speaker 4: So it's quite a quite a show and it covers
- 18:54Speaker 4: it probably covers.
- 18:55Speaker 8: Almost half of our property from one end, so it's
- 18:58Speaker 8: pretty impressive.
- 18:59Speaker 3: So how do people if they are lifting right now,
- 19:01Speaker 3: they want to put a vehicle in the show, or
- 19:03Speaker 3: they want to come out there on Saturday, how do
- 19:04Speaker 3: they do that?
- 19:05Speaker 8: That's great, great answer that our great question. The registration
- 19:09Speaker 8: is nine am to noon and the entry fee is
- 19:14Speaker 8: fifteen dollars and basically just show up sometime between nine
- 19:17Speaker 8: and twelve out there at eighty two FOP Lane. Like
- 19:19Speaker 8: I say, it's just past the you can't miss its.
- 19:22Speaker 8: Just past the DHHR building. There's a huge police monument
- 19:25Speaker 8: with we have a huge American flag and a POW
- 19:27Speaker 8: flag in a West Virginia flag.
- 19:29Speaker 4: You can't miss the FOP.
- 19:30Speaker 8: We've marked it and we want the people to know
- 19:33Speaker 8: that we're there and that's one of our interest is
- 19:36Speaker 8: to be part of the community.
- 19:37Speaker 4: And so you can't miss it.
- 19:40Speaker 8: Entry fee fifteen dollars nine anytime from nine to twelve pm.
- 19:44Speaker 8: And the show it wraps up fairly early in the afternoon.
- 19:47Speaker 8: And the other nice thing about this show that I
- 19:48Speaker 8: really like is that the people who enter the cars
- 19:52Speaker 8: actually do the voting on what which car, and so
- 19:56Speaker 8: it's actually your being your vehicle that you fixed yourself,
- 19:59Speaker 8: you being peer reviewed. You're literally people who have done
- 20:02Speaker 8: the same thing as you vote.
- 20:04Speaker 4: On your car.
- 20:05Speaker 8: But there's and we've got so many awards. I mean,
- 20:09Speaker 8: Dashblacks for the first one hundred cars, top twenty five
- 20:12Speaker 8: participant pick awards fifty to fifty drawing. I mean, and
- 20:15Speaker 8: there's hundreds of prizes. So because we're getting a lot
- 20:19Speaker 8: of support from people in the community. And to include
- 20:24Speaker 8: like I said, West Virginia RC Media is supporting us
- 20:28Speaker 8: and Tutors, Biscuit and Geno's and Downtown Ford railcat.
- 20:32Speaker 4: Rubber to name a few.
- 20:34Speaker 8: I mean, these are people that take an active interest
- 20:37Speaker 8: in law enforcement and supporting us. And I can't stress
- 20:40Speaker 8: enough a lot of this money our property has been
- 20:43Speaker 8: there for quite a few years.
- 20:45Speaker 4: We bought the place in nineteen eighty four.
- 20:46Speaker 8: A lot of the money goes to help officers, officers
- 20:49Speaker 8: who are in trouble without naming names. We had an
- 20:52Speaker 8: officer that suffered several fatalities in his family last month.
- 20:57Speaker 8: And these are things that we do because there is
- 20:59Speaker 8: nothing else. We are the people that support the men
- 21:02Speaker 8: in blue, and we do what we can and to
- 21:07Speaker 8: support them and if in their.
- 21:08Speaker 4: Time of need, and you know, talk about that support, Stephen.
- 21:13Speaker 3: What are some of the things that for these officers
- 21:16Speaker 3: that have been struggling a little bit, What are some
- 21:18Speaker 3: of the things that your organization is able to do well.
- 21:22Speaker 8: One of the first things we can do is we
- 21:23Speaker 8: have access to various referral mechanisms, you know, for both
- 21:27Speaker 8: health care and mental health. And we also and we
- 21:31Speaker 8: stress that trying to help them with that. The other
- 21:33Speaker 8: thing is is it I call it a national support,
- 21:37Speaker 8: which is law enforcement from across the United States. The
- 21:41Speaker 8: FOP Fraternal Police is the largest police organization in the
- 21:45Speaker 8: United States, has over three hundred and twenty thousand members.
- 21:50Speaker 8: And the organization that we're like a private GoFundMe if
- 21:54Speaker 8: somebody needs money, needs assistance, their home, something got damaged.
- 21:58Speaker 8: Some of the recent stuff we've on that people don't
- 22:01Speaker 8: realize is the like earlier in the show, you all
- 22:06Speaker 8: were talking about the Carolinas and what happened there. Well,
- 22:09Speaker 8: the FOP was on the ground there also with money
- 22:12Speaker 8: from here and from other places across the United States,
- 22:15Speaker 8: supporting the police officers because they're out in the field,
- 22:18Speaker 8: still working. Even after an emergency something like what came
- 22:21Speaker 8: through there the flooding, they still have to go work.
- 22:24Speaker 4: So we go.
- 22:25Speaker 8: In behind and help them and support their families and
- 22:29Speaker 8: support them because they really don't have any support.
- 22:32Speaker 4: See, they have to continue working.
- 22:34Speaker 3: That's something I never really would have thought of that
- 22:36Speaker 3: the Fraternal Order of Police would have done was to
- 22:38Speaker 3: be was to go into areas like that just to
- 22:41Speaker 3: I mean, it shouldn't surprise me, but I mean I
- 22:43Speaker 3: just something I wasn't aware of that you guys did
- 22:45Speaker 3: that sort of thing.
- 22:46Speaker 8: And we do it across the nation, and the National
- 22:49Speaker 8: actually has several trucks, support trucks, food trucks, tractor traders.
- 22:53Speaker 8: These are huge vehicles, and like I say, it's to
- 22:55Speaker 8: support the law enforcement because when everybody else goes home
- 22:58Speaker 8: or everybody's at home taking care and rebuilding their homes,
- 23:01Speaker 8: the officers, because this is a national emergency, they're expected
- 23:05Speaker 8: to continue going to work and to tender shift, and
- 23:08Speaker 8: they may not have a home to go back to.
- 23:09Speaker 8: So that's where we try to backfill and try to
- 23:12Speaker 8: help him with that.
- 23:13Speaker 4: Are you're a police officer yourself.
- 23:15Speaker 8: I was a police officer with City of Charleston for
- 23:17Speaker 8: twenty six years.
- 23:19Speaker 4: I retired from the City of Charleston.
- 23:21Speaker 3: What was it, Steve, that made you want to become
- 23:23Speaker 3: a police officer.
- 23:25Speaker 8: Well, I'll be honest, I was a young man when
- 23:27Speaker 8: I first became a police officer, and really I was
- 23:30Speaker 8: in a job that wasn't going anywhere, and I was
- 23:32Speaker 8: looking and I was lucky that I met two officers
- 23:35Speaker 8: from the City of Charleston and I was looking for
- 23:39Speaker 8: a place to go, and they said, Steve the way
- 23:42Speaker 8: number one. You need to settle down, you need to
- 23:43Speaker 8: straighten up, and this is where you need to go.
- 23:46Speaker 8: And I did that in nineteen eighty three and took
- 23:49Speaker 8: the test for the City of Charleston. But once I
- 23:51Speaker 8: got there, I don't know if it's my upbringing or whatever,
- 23:54Speaker 8: but the job really suited me and I enjoyed it.
- 23:57Speaker 8: And one of the things that that over the years
- 24:02Speaker 8: really came to be you felt like you were doing something.
- 24:05Speaker 8: You always felt when you came to work. You always
- 24:07Speaker 8: felt like you were accomplishing something. Some days weren't great,
- 24:10Speaker 8: but you were always It's like something it was a purpose,
- 24:14Speaker 8: You had a purpose. You helped somebody pay one the best,
- 24:16Speaker 8: but it was we did something. I patrolled the streets
- 24:20Speaker 8: of Charleston, like I say, for twenty six years, and
- 24:23Speaker 8: I met some of the greatest people and was able
- 24:25Speaker 8: to help some people, I believe along the way. And
- 24:30Speaker 8: I still think it's one of the best jobs you
- 24:31Speaker 8: can ever have.
- 24:33Speaker 3: What would you say that because you know, whether it's
- 24:35Speaker 3: the city police, whether it's the counties or states or whatever.
- 24:38Speaker 3: And this is a nationwide issue, Steve. People, just the
- 24:42Speaker 3: young folks just aren't going in to the police business,
- 24:47Speaker 3: so to speak. And trust me, with everything that you
- 24:49Speaker 3: folks have gone through the last few years, I can
- 24:51Speaker 3: understand why. I mean I really really can't. But what
- 24:53Speaker 3: would you say to a young man or young woman
- 24:56Speaker 3: that is thinking about a career and they don't like
- 24:59Speaker 3: like you were, you know, you really didn't have a
- 25:00Speaker 3: lot of direction, didn't know what you wanted to do.
- 25:03Speaker 3: What would you say to those folks that are maybe
- 25:08Speaker 3: thinking about a career in law enforcement?
- 25:10Speaker 8: I would tell them to definitely try it, go do it.
- 25:12Speaker 8: It's not gonna it's not gonna be what you think
- 25:14Speaker 8: it is. It's not like in the movies. I can
- 25:16Speaker 8: tell you that if you think you're going.
- 25:18Speaker 3: You ever watch movies, You ever watch TV shows and
- 25:20Speaker 3: movies and just cringe? Oh yes, yes, I think every
- 25:23Speaker 3: because when I watch things about radio, I'm like, that's
- 25:25Speaker 3: not the way it happens.
- 25:27Speaker 4: I think that's true of every profession. But go ahead.
- 25:29Speaker 8: I think that once you get into law enforcement and
- 25:32Speaker 8: you start, and law enforcement that sometimes, But I think
- 25:38Speaker 8: just try it. Get in there and take the test,
- 25:41Speaker 8: you know, do the PT, get physically fit, try the
- 25:44Speaker 8: job and see if you like it.
- 25:46Speaker 4: You can always change.
- 25:48Speaker 8: But once you get into law enforcement, once you meet
- 25:50Speaker 8: the people there, once you've gone out a couple of times,
- 25:52Speaker 8: once you've been there a couple of times late at
- 25:54Speaker 8: night and done something to help somebody, and really see that,
- 25:57Speaker 8: I think you're you'll slowly change.
- 25:59Speaker 4: I believe that.
- 26:00Speaker 8: I believe that over ninety percent of law law enforcement
- 26:03Speaker 8: isn't in the job for the right reason. I believe
- 26:05Speaker 8: that they're doing it because they really truly want to
- 26:08Speaker 8: help people. And once once you do that, and once
- 26:11Speaker 8: you realize the other people that you're with who believe
- 26:14Speaker 8: the same way that you do, and you're working towards
- 26:16Speaker 8: a common goal, which is you know, there is nothing
- 26:21Speaker 8: better than being the ultimate sheep dog. And that's what
- 26:24Speaker 8: police officers are. They are the sheep dog. And there
- 26:27Speaker 8: are the people out there protecting others and protecting those
- 26:29Speaker 8: who can't be protected or don't have the wherewithal to
- 26:33Speaker 8: protect themselves. I try it, if you're even considering it,
- 26:38Speaker 8: try it, because your mind is already in the right position,
- 26:41Speaker 8: I believe.
- 26:41Speaker 3: And there are I mean, as you said, law enforcement
- 26:45Speaker 3: is multifaceted, and there are other if you have an
- 26:47Speaker 3: interest in the field, but maybe you're not cut out
- 26:50Speaker 3: to be a beat officer like you were there, I mean,
- 26:53Speaker 3: there are there are other things you can do.
- 26:55Speaker 8: There's so many things, and especially if you if you
- 26:57Speaker 8: join a larger department. I mean you've got things things
- 27:00Speaker 8: like the detective Bureau. You've got things like the Metro
- 27:04Speaker 8: Drag unit. There's things like SWAT, there's traffic division, bike units.
- 27:10Speaker 8: You know, Charleston, I was there when we had a
- 27:11Speaker 8: mounted police, which was impressive to watch. But there's always
- 27:15Speaker 8: something else that you can do with and you may
- 27:18Speaker 8: bring something new to it. A police department is continuously
- 27:21Speaker 8: evolving and things change. I was last night. I was
- 27:24Speaker 8: talking to the chief of police at Charleston and talking
- 27:27Speaker 8: about the how law enforcement has evolved over the years
- 27:31Speaker 8: and things change. You know, we had amount of police
- 27:34Speaker 8: now we don't we had. You know, there's things that
- 27:38Speaker 8: they changed. They have community police. They now have some
- 27:40Speaker 8: great units that are working downtown with the trying to
- 27:43Speaker 8: address the homeless issues. So law enforcement is forever evolving,
- 27:48Speaker 8: and it evolves with the world and with the way
- 27:50Speaker 8: our country evolves.
- 27:51Speaker 3: All right, Steve, it's been a pleasure to have you
- 27:54Speaker 3: on the show today. Give us the details again on
- 27:56Speaker 3: the on the event on Saturday. We kind of got
- 27:58Speaker 3: off on a tent because I could I have so listen.
- 28:01Speaker 3: I have so much respect for people in law enforcement.
- 28:03Speaker 3: I mean, I really really do, especially over the last
- 28:08Speaker 3: ten years or so, you know, because there's been there's
- 28:11Speaker 3: been an all out war I think on police officers
- 28:15Speaker 3: in America, and I think it sucks. And I when
- 28:20Speaker 3: somebody came to me and said, Hey, would you have
- 28:21Speaker 3: these folks on the show? I said absolutely. I have
- 28:23Speaker 3: a lot of respect and thank you for your service.
- 28:24Speaker 3: Thank you for what you and everyone that's served at
- 28:27Speaker 3: the same time that.
- 28:28Speaker 4: You did did.
- 28:29Speaker 3: But let's talk about the actual event on Saturday.
- 28:32Speaker 8: Get back to it, and thank you for those comments.
- 28:34Speaker 8: But the show is Saturday, June seventh. It's from nine
- 28:37Speaker 8: am to four pm. Registration is from nine am to
- 28:40Speaker 8: twelve noon, and like I say, registration is fifteen dollars
- 28:45Speaker 8: for a car, but the general admission is free to
- 28:48Speaker 8: the public.
- 28:48Speaker 4: Please come on down. We're going to have food trucks.
- 28:50Speaker 8: We're going to have nice cars, nice people, you know,
- 28:54Speaker 8: look at the property, look at the facilities, and if
- 28:56Speaker 8: you want to support law enforcement, we'd love to have
- 28:59Speaker 8: you there.
- 28:59Speaker 3: Got a nice text here from former mayor Danny Jones,
- 29:03Speaker 3: just listening to the show today.
- 29:05Speaker 4: I know the mayor. I work for the mayor.
- 29:07Speaker 3: Yeah, all right, twenty four minutes away from ten Steve Netto.
- 29:11Speaker 4: I appreciate you being here.
- 29:12Speaker 3: Thanks, thank you, thanks a lot. All right, We're going
- 29:14Speaker 3: to take a break when we come back. I think
- 29:16Speaker 3: we were able to reschedule the donut lady. I think so. Hey,
- 29:20Speaker 3: tomorrow's National Donut Day. So I'm gonna cut it a
- 29:22Speaker 3: little bit of a slack, you know, for running that.
- 29:24Speaker 3: We got the times mixed up. Plus we're gonna go
- 29:26Speaker 3: back out talk about what's going on on our parking
- 29:28Speaker 3: lot here with the Dropper Snacks event. We got, of course,

- 33:27Speaker 3: day to us here.
- 33:29Speaker 4: Calm down, Steve, So I've.
- 33:30Speaker 3: Already got Steve animals already in the studio over here
- 33:32Speaker 3: because the donuts are here to resortees from the Donut
- 33:35Speaker 3: connections here.
- 33:35Speaker 4: How you doing, Teresa, I'm doing great.
- 33:37Speaker 14: How are you?
- 33:38Speaker 4: I'm fine, And.
- 33:38Speaker 3: We apologize for the mix up on the time, but
- 33:40Speaker 3: we got you back here.
- 33:41Speaker 4: That's what matters.
- 33:42Speaker 14: No, I was up all night, so I got my
- 33:44Speaker 14: numbers a little miss.
- 33:45Speaker 3: I figured on the day before because originally when we
- 33:47Speaker 3: had you come it in, I thought I thought it
- 33:50Speaker 3: was gonna be a National Donut Day. But then I thought,
- 33:52Speaker 3: what am I thinking? That this woman is going to
- 33:53Speaker 3: be able to get away from the donut connection on
- 33:55Speaker 3: National Donut Day which is tomorrow.
- 33:57Speaker 4: So we're glad we got you here. Regardless, I'm great
- 33:59Speaker 4: and thank you for bringing donuts to us.
- 34:01Speaker 14: That's my pleasure.
- 34:02Speaker 4: I mean they went kind of quickly.
- 34:04Speaker 14: Well, you can always come on back. We got doortash,
- 34:06Speaker 14: we got grub hubs, so it's a great opportunity.
- 34:08Speaker 3: All right, give us You've got a very unique story
- 34:12Speaker 3: because I had you on the air last year about
- 34:13Speaker 3: how you how you came to Rob Real is over
- 34:17Speaker 3: here like licking all the donuts.
- 34:18Speaker 4: Right now, he's he's marking his eat all those Yeah. Uh,
- 34:22Speaker 4: tell us, you tell us your story.
- 34:23Speaker 14: So I I was homeschooled, did college class as well
- 34:28Speaker 14: as in high school. Then I ended up finding an
- 34:31Speaker 14: opportunity to move from Akron, Ohio to Charleston, West Virginia.
- 34:35Speaker 14: There was a donut shop to buy. I was nineteen.
- 34:37Speaker 3: I said, that's what gives me. You were nineteen years
- 34:40Speaker 3: old and you see what online or something that there's
- 34:44Speaker 3: a donut shop or it was.
- 34:46Speaker 14: It was like a family connection when used to you're
- 34:49Speaker 14: trying to sell a business, and I'd been saving up,
- 34:52Speaker 14: so it seems like a great opportunity.
- 34:54Speaker 3: And at nineteen you make the move into Charleston and
- 34:58Speaker 3: you and you take over the Donut Connection. Now, the
- 35:01Speaker 3: Donut Connection has got quite a cut of history as well, right,
- 35:03Speaker 3: it's been there for a long time.
- 35:04Speaker 14: Yeah, it's opened up in nineteen sixty I want to
- 35:07Speaker 14: it is either sixty two or sixty five as Mister Donuts,
- 35:11Speaker 14: and then it switched over to the Donut Connection in
- 35:15Speaker 14: nineteen ninety five. So we have a long line of customers.
- 35:17Speaker 14: You're like, I remember when over and over again.
- 35:21Speaker 4: It's it's really, well, how has it been?
- 35:22Speaker 3: Because I know you were you were one of the
- 35:23Speaker 3: ones that really had issues with the traffic over there,
- 35:25Speaker 3: and then the construction is it is it better now?
- 35:27Speaker 14: It's it's been a little bit better. We're always struggling
- 35:30Speaker 14: a little bit with just staffing. So if anybody's looking
- 35:32Speaker 14: for a job, we're here.
- 35:35Speaker 4: So what do you look for in an employee?
- 35:38Speaker 14: I show up, Yes, show up, show up on time,
- 35:42Speaker 14: work hard, and just just have a good time. Like
- 35:46Speaker 14: I mean, it's not fun and games. It is a job.
- 35:48Speaker 14: But if you if you're trying to make everybody miserable,
- 35:52Speaker 14: we don't want you here.
- 35:53Speaker 3: No, we don't watch you here either at the radio
- 35:55Speaker 3: station exactly to resource teas for the donut connection is here.
- 35:59Speaker 3: So what's the top selling donut? Tops glazed, just a
- 36:02Speaker 3: simple blazed donut. What what's your personal favorite?
- 36:05Speaker 14: My personal favorite it switches depending on I eat the
- 36:08Speaker 14: same donut over and over again, get really sick of it,
- 36:10Speaker 14: and then move on to the next one. So right
- 36:12Speaker 14: now I'm liking the double chocolate and the Boston cream.
- 36:17Speaker 14: Those are amazing.
- 36:18Speaker 3: Okay, I'm I mean, I'll eat anything, okay, but but
- 36:23Speaker 3: I can tell you that there's nothing I like more
- 36:26Speaker 3: than just a blueberry cake donut.
- 36:28Speaker 4: I mean, that's that.
- 36:30Speaker 14: Was one of the ones that I went through. It
- 36:31Speaker 14: was blueberry cake donuts with Coca Cola. Don't really like them.
- 36:35Speaker 14: Separate but together something. They're amazing.
- 36:38Speaker 3: We're gonna be talking about the snack drop here momentarily.
- 36:41Speaker 3: And these guys, Steve Animal and Rob Real just came
- 36:44Speaker 3: in here. By the way, guys, no eating in the
- 36:46Speaker 3: studio of the studio.
- 36:48Speaker 15: Yeah, well, well, I guess we've now christened it or drinking.
- 36:52Speaker 15: I'm sure.
- 36:52Speaker 4: Yeah, it's dyke.
- 36:54Speaker 3: Cokie's drinking because it's not eleven amy, so it's only
- 36:56Speaker 3: dyke as far as we know, Rob, what's your favorit?
- 37:00Speaker 4: Donut?
- 37:02Speaker 10: So many of the ones Teresa mentioned, I think maybe
- 37:04Speaker 10: the Boston cream or the Bavarian cream is.
- 37:06Speaker 15: The way to go. Yeah, I like the what do
- 37:10Speaker 15: you call it? Like raspberry filled deli films?
- 37:12Speaker 2: Those?
- 37:13Speaker 4: Yeah, those are well.
- 37:14Speaker 2: He likes to jell.
- 37:15Speaker 4: How many different varieties of donuts do you have there,
- 37:18Speaker 4: two hunters.
- 37:18Speaker 14: I think we have about thirty two. It depends.
- 37:21Speaker 3: I was gonna say, do you run a thirty two
- 37:23Speaker 3: at a time or is it like you have twenty
- 37:24Speaker 3: four different ones and you kind of rotate them in
- 37:26Speaker 3: and out.
- 37:27Speaker 14: I want to say we run thirty two donut flavors
- 37:29Speaker 14: at a time, but we also have some additional specialty items.
- 37:33Speaker 14: We have muffins and bagels and brownies. We've got breakfast sandwiches,
- 37:38Speaker 14: which most people don't know, ice cream. So there's a
- 37:41Speaker 14: lot offered and you're ours. We're open six am to
- 37:44Speaker 14: nine pm unless we sell out.
- 37:45Speaker 3: Okay, does that happen frequently that you sell it?
- 37:48Speaker 14: It does happen every once in a while. We make
- 37:50Speaker 14: all the donuts overnight. They're fresh in the morning, so
- 37:53Speaker 14: as people buy them, sometimes a little hard to tell
- 37:56Speaker 14: what we need one.
- 37:57Speaker 3: What are you doing special for National Donut tomorrow?
- 38:00Speaker 14: We're keeping it simple. So National Donut Day started as
- 38:03Speaker 14: a just like a way to keep soldiers. It was
- 38:05Speaker 14: to bring comfort to soldiers back in early nineteen hundreds,
- 38:10Speaker 14: and people called donut lassies would just bring donuts to
- 38:15Speaker 14: the soldiers and just something comfortable, something like donuts are
- 38:19Speaker 14: the ultimate comfort food.
- 38:20Speaker 4: That's the I would agree.
- 38:23Speaker 14: So we're not we're not. We're not doing any games regiments.
- 38:26Speaker 14: We're just doing very simple, fresh handmade donuts.
- 38:30Speaker 3: And what I like about it locally owned, exact, locally owned,
- 38:33Speaker 3: locally operated, and that's what we like.
- 38:35Speaker 4: That's what we like.
- 38:36Speaker 3: Hey, Teresa, I appreciate you coming in, appreciate you feeding
- 38:39Speaker 3: this hungry group of jackals over here. Don't be surprised
- 38:43Speaker 3: if they follow you back.
- 38:44Speaker 14: I mean, I've got four brothers, so I know how to.
- 38:48Speaker 4: I can tell you that.
- 38:49Speaker 14: Oh no, there's a there's a fifteen year old who's
- 38:51Speaker 14: six five and has never seen the end of a play,
- 38:54Speaker 14: has seen to the ends of too many plates.
- 38:57Speaker 3: I gotcha, all right, Teresa, or ties for the doughnut
- 38:59Speaker 3: and National Donut Day is tomorrow. But go over there
- 39:02Speaker 3: and hang out with those folks anytime. I appreciate you
- 39:04Speaker 3: being here.
- 39:04Speaker 4: Thanks a lot, Thank you so much.
- 39:05Speaker 3: All right, all right we can we don't take the donuts,
- 39:09Speaker 3: so now you can take the doctor because okay, all right.
- 39:14Speaker 4: We'll lick them. Yeah again, Teresa, thank you, thank you
- 39:17Speaker 4: for being here. All right.
- 39:18Speaker 3: Snack drop is going on as we speak, rob Real
- 39:21Speaker 3: from our sister station ninety six one KWSD Animal from
- 39:24Speaker 3: ninety eight to seven to mouth and here as well.
- 39:26Speaker 3: How are we doing so far, Roberts, I think that
- 39:29Speaker 3: last look, we are half a truck full.
- 39:31Speaker 10: From Union Mission, so we're off to.
- 39:33Speaker 4: A great start.
- 39:34Speaker 10: But seventy thousand kids are food insecure in West Virginia.
- 39:39Speaker 10: That's one in five. One is one too many, but
- 39:42Speaker 10: seventy thousand. So we got a ways to go to
- 39:45Speaker 10: fill in some of these gaps in communities where they
- 39:48Speaker 10: just they don't have the wherewithal to maybe have summer
- 39:52Speaker 10: meal programs. So two thirds of West Virginia kids qualify
- 39:56Speaker 10: for free or reduced lunch, and with school out there
- 39:58Speaker 10: are a number of places where they they don't have
- 40:01Speaker 10: an ancillary program that comes in to fill that gap.
- 40:04Speaker 10: And so that's the big thing we're trying to do.
- 40:07Speaker 15: And we've had a great showing out there. However, if
- 40:10Speaker 15: you don't have time to shop, cash and check work
- 40:13Speaker 15: very well. My friend Chris and Jean hooked us up
- 40:16Speaker 15: today over one hundred dollars whatever you can get five
- 40:20Speaker 15: dollars a dollar or whatever. Just drive on three. You
- 40:22Speaker 15: don't even have to get out of your car. We
- 40:24Speaker 15: will take it from your hands.
- 40:26Speaker 3: Yeah, on a hot, steamy day like this, just keep
- 40:28Speaker 3: your air conditioning blast and roll down the window long
- 40:30Speaker 3: enough to slide, yeah, slide the cash through, or say, hey, monkeys,
- 40:34Speaker 3: the snacks are in the back hatch. I'll pop it
- 40:37Speaker 3: for you. I'll do the hard work. We're all out there.
- 40:40Speaker 3: And a big shout out to the folks at Union
- 40:43Speaker 3: Mission as well, because as I was telling the people earlier, Robin,
- 40:45Speaker 3: you and I talked about this when you were on
- 40:47Speaker 3: There's so many organizations that do events where they provide
- 40:50Speaker 3: hot lunches, but they don't cover the entire state. God
- 40:53Speaker 3: bless them for what they do, but they just can't
- 40:55Speaker 3: cover everywhere. And Union Mission because of their networking, they
- 40:58Speaker 3: can get to all of these air is that may
- 41:00Speaker 3: not have groups like backpack Buddies and all this other stuff.
- 41:04Speaker 10: And they know what the needs are in particular communities.
- 41:08Speaker 10: Not only where the food needs to go, but you
- 41:11Speaker 10: know what this organization or this school might still have
- 41:14Speaker 10: on hand that Okay, we need to fill this gap
- 41:17Speaker 10: with this, but over here they need this. It's one
- 41:20Speaker 10: of the reasons I do encourage the cash and check
- 41:21Speaker 10: donations because green is always the right color, it's always
- 41:24Speaker 10: the right size, and Union Mission can utilize the power
- 41:27Speaker 10: of buying in bulk with those monetary donations.
- 41:30Speaker 4: All right, yeah, guys, I appreciate you being here. Rob.
- 41:34Speaker 4: This was kind of your baby.
- 41:36Speaker 3: Rob comes up with these ideas and says, hey, I've
- 41:38Speaker 3: got an idea, and.
- 41:40Speaker 4: Everybody in the meeting.
- 41:43Speaker 3: He's thinking again that would explain the smell of bacon. Well,
- 41:46Speaker 3: we're gonna have a lot more smells out on their
- 41:48Speaker 3: parking lot today because it so it's gonna be a
- 41:51Speaker 3: little warm out there. And also want to give a
- 41:53Speaker 3: shout out to my buddy Brian Brennan, who would just
- 41:56Speaker 3: text me last night and said, hey, I want to
- 41:58Speaker 3: help out. He's not employed here, said I just want
- 42:01Speaker 3: to I want to help out.
- 42:01Speaker 4: So and uh and Wolfy.
- 42:03Speaker 3: Brian Bradley has been out there as well, So a
- 42:04Speaker 3: big shout out to him. Old friend, and hell, old friend.
- 42:08Speaker 10: Every time Brian sees you, he's he's the happiest to say,
- 42:10Speaker 10: hey Boddy.
- 42:11Speaker 3: Yeah, he's been out there with us, and we're gonna
- 42:14Speaker 3: be out there at six o'clock or so tonight. So
- 42:16Speaker 3: thank you to everybody. And uh, Communicare, I want to
- 42:20Speaker 3: get a big shout out to Communicare.
- 42:22Speaker 4: Rob. You were on the air at that time.
- 42:24Speaker 3: But Steve was able to put on Freebird or something
- 42:26Speaker 3: I don't know and come downstairs and or he just
- 42:29Speaker 3: had dead air because it's Steve. I mean it wasn't
- 42:32Speaker 3: free Bird, it was low priced bird.
- 42:33Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 42:34Speaker 3: So he comes downstairs and we see this big truck
- 42:37Speaker 3: pulling up and tell tell the story Steve downloaded.
- 42:40Speaker 15: I mean she had toats and toats and toats and
- 42:42Speaker 15: I'll just fill to the top and she's like, I'll
- 42:44Speaker 15: be back. We have more coming later today.
- 42:46Speaker 3: So we are tots grateful, yes, yes.
- 42:49Speaker 15: And down percent for sure. And for some reason, if
- 42:52Speaker 15: you can't make it to the parking lot by six
- 42:54Speaker 15: o'clock tonight, I'm just gonna be down the street at

- 47:08Speaker 4: How are you, my friend.
- 47:09Speaker 12: I'm doing great. It's my The baseball Ternam is my favorite.
- 47:13Speaker 4: Yea of all of them.
- 47:14Speaker 3: I love, I love, I love, I love the Baseball Teram,
- 47:16Speaker 3: but I really really do. Uh And you get to
- 47:18Speaker 3: see when you come down here, you get to hang out,
- 47:20Speaker 3: and you see what kind of a a strict ship
- 47:24Speaker 3: I run here. As far as timing that age really.
- 47:27Speaker 12: Let me tell you, folks, Dave Allen walks around this
- 47:30Speaker 12: place and just says, hey, listen, we're going to do
- 47:32Speaker 12: this at this time, and it happens.
- 47:33Speaker 4: It's amazing.
- 47:34Speaker 12: It's quite quite impressive.
- 47:36Speaker 3: Well yeah, I don't know so much about that, but uh, anyway,
- 47:39Speaker 3: but hey, but hey, we got donuts today, Yes you did.
- 47:42Speaker 3: We got that's all for National Donut Day which is tomorrow.
- 47:45Speaker 3: But uh oh, I like the preemptive celebration. Yeah, exactly,
- 47:48Speaker 3: all right, talk about the USA Tournament. What are you
- 47:50Speaker 3: looking at?
- 47:50Speaker 2: What do you want to know?
- 47:51Speaker 12: Class Single I gets things started here in about about
- 47:54Speaker 12: five minutes. Things will get started over at gomart Ballpark. Madonna,
- 47:58Speaker 12: weird a, Madonna take it on Webster County. Webster County
- 48:01Speaker 12: coming in at five hundred on the season, got things
- 48:04Speaker 12: rolling late coming out of that region. Madonna's been at
- 48:07Speaker 12: the top of Class Single A all season long. So,
- 48:10Speaker 12: I mean, if you were looking on paper, you'd go
- 48:12Speaker 12: a blue down, should win this thing going away. But
- 48:14Speaker 12: this is baseball A and B. It's the state tournament,
- 48:17Speaker 12: so you never know what could happen. There were some
- 48:19Speaker 12: good teams along the way. Fred and I talked about
- 48:21Speaker 12: it a Metro News midday yesterday that we thought would
- 48:24Speaker 12: be in Charleston that didn't make it out of the regional,
- 48:27Speaker 12: so you never know. That's right later this afternoon class
- 48:30Speaker 12: single A. Here's this is a more interesting matchup than
- 48:32Speaker 12: people were giving a credit for Gilmour County back in
- 48:34Speaker 12: the state tournament after I think you go back to
- 48:37Speaker 12: twenty eleven since the last time the Titans have been there.
- 48:41Speaker 12: But East Hardy comes in twelve and fifteen, eight regular
- 48:44Speaker 12: season wins on the year, and you go, how in
- 48:46Speaker 12: the world, right, how in the world's East Hardy get there?
- 48:49Speaker 12: Had several players, I think four guys that were coming
- 48:52Speaker 12: over from basketball, so they got there late. Five major
- 48:58Speaker 12: injuries I think we counted in. A coach told me
- 49:00Speaker 12: about five major injury starters who got hurt early in
- 49:03Speaker 12: the season, didn't have them all year. Got those guys
- 49:07Speaker 12: back late in the season. They're not all one hundred percent,
- 49:09Speaker 12: but some of these guys, like Mason Hamilton, they'll take
- 49:12Speaker 12: seventy five percent. He had a two run homer in
- 49:15Speaker 12: the regional clincher. So they're back mostly healthy, and the
- 49:18Speaker 12: team now they should have been all seasons. So don't
- 49:21Speaker 12: let that record for you going into that game, Golmer
- 49:23Speaker 12: County and East Hardy. That'll be the second game of
- 49:25Speaker 12: the morning session, and of course you can.
- 49:27Speaker 3: Catch all the action over the air or at the website.
- 49:30Speaker 3: Will have updates. You and Chris and everybody will be
- 49:33Speaker 3: over there. Fred, Kyle, Luke, Peter one personer this week, okay,
- 49:38Speaker 3: and that's where we are your Wildcats tonight and Logan
- 49:41Speaker 3: Philip Barber might be the game of the day. Yeah,
- 49:42Speaker 3: I got my alma mater and the current city that
- 49:45Speaker 3: I live in both at a hurricane and also.
- 49:47Speaker 4: You'll be there, Logan, Yeah, oh yeah, oh yeah.
- 49:49Speaker 3: And well you gotta leave Winfield outs and I'm getting
- 49:52Speaker 3: I did because I don't live in Winfield. I live
- 49:53Speaker 3: in a Hurricane. I was getting to Winfield and GW
- 49:56Speaker 3: for that matter. All right, we'll be well, and of
- 49:58Speaker 3: course all four of the Champion Chip games on Metro
