- 0:01Speaker 1: Jarrey Katy and Josh one hundred. All right, So I
- 0:05Speaker 1: woke up for work today at the butt crack of
- 0:07Speaker 1: dawn and pulled out of the driveway pitch blackout. And
- 0:12Speaker 1: as I'm backing out, you know, checking behind me, left
- 0:15Speaker 1: and right, and I look over to the right and
- 0:17Speaker 1: I'm like, what the frick is that in the front yard?
- 0:21Speaker 1: Was like, what is that? Is that trash can? So
- 0:26Speaker 1: I put it in park, got out of my car,
- 0:28Speaker 1: walked over to my front lawn. There's a giant kayak
- 0:33Speaker 1: on my front lawn. Why bright giant kayak laying right
- 0:39Speaker 1: on my lawn? Do you have what is this? I
- 0:43Speaker 1: don't have a kayak.
- 0:44Speaker 2: Case, that's not your kayak.
- 0:46Speaker 1: I thought was there a was it a windstorm last
- 0:49Speaker 1: night that it was.
- 0:50Speaker 2: Really windy, But did it bring a kayak?
- 0:53Speaker 1: Why is there a kayak on my front lawn? Okay,
- 0:57Speaker 1: So I didn't know what to do. I'm like, well,
- 0:58Speaker 1: I guess I'm leaving this. I gotta get to work.
- 1:01Speaker 1: I'm gonna wake up the neighborhood by trying to drag
- 1:03Speaker 1: this thing around to the side of the house or something.
- 1:06Speaker 1: But remember a couple weeks ago, I told you how
- 1:09Speaker 1: incredibly proud I am of my son and a handful
- 1:14Speaker 1: of his buddies because they are true boys, like straight
- 1:19Speaker 1: out of the eighties and nineties, where they go out
- 1:22Speaker 1: on adventures and they gather things and they have fun
- 1:26Speaker 1: and they do activities outside. They're not sitting in side
- 1:29Speaker 1: playing fortnight and hanging on the screens all night.
- 1:33Speaker 3: They had a mattress on some skateboard the one they
- 1:35Speaker 3: went around, and this guy had a bunch of inflatable
- 1:39Speaker 3: air mattresses that he had on the curb for free.
- 1:41Speaker 1: So they blew him all up these giant Queen Side's mattresses,
- 1:44Speaker 1: and they were straight strapping him to skateboards and stuff
- 1:47Speaker 1: with bungee cords and zipping down the streets laying on
- 1:50Speaker 1: these mattresses, And I was like, hell, yeah, this is
- 1:52Speaker 1: what boys are supposed to do.
- 1:54Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:55Speaker 1: Fast forward about another week later, they were out finding
- 1:58Speaker 1: more free things. On the side of this They found
- 2:00Speaker 1: an old like refrigerator, which they then proceeded to lay
- 2:04Speaker 1: on its side and build another car out of that.
- 2:06Speaker 1: So they were all sitting in this refrigerators that open
- 2:09Speaker 1: up and down the street. They found old microwaves and
- 2:11Speaker 1: a dumpster, so of course they go and put a
- 2:14Speaker 1: bunch of different things in the microwaves to see, you know,
- 2:17Speaker 1: how hot they can get things if things explode.
- 2:20Speaker 2: Boy.
- 2:21Speaker 1: In fact, yeah, coke cans are awesome when you put
- 2:24Speaker 1: them in the microwave for like ten minutes. Kids, don't
- 2:27Speaker 1: do this, they get really hot. They were going and
- 2:31Speaker 1: pulling them out. Of course, they had like all this
- 2:33Speaker 1: protective gear on. They had like a catcher's mask and
- 2:36Speaker 1: goggles and you know, so they would grab these cans
- 2:39Speaker 1: and they'd throw them up in the air and they
- 2:40Speaker 1: drop and boom, they'd blow up. Pretty neat stuff if
- 2:44Speaker 1: you want to try it later this afternoon after but
- 2:46Speaker 1: don't do it. Can't get kids. Listen. It led to
- 2:51Speaker 1: a conversation with me and my son saying, be careful.
- 2:56Speaker 1: You need you need your grandpa to call you, who
- 2:59Speaker 1: has seen it all in the fire industry. I'm like,
- 3:02Speaker 1: just stay back from all that. Don't blow a hand
- 3:04Speaker 1: off or anything. Please be careful. So everybody who's angrily
- 3:08Speaker 1: texting right now, you're shouldn't let them do that. Listen.
- 3:11Speaker 1: I've had to talk with him, but.
- 3:12Speaker 2: They're being boy having fun.
- 3:17Speaker 1: He's actually he's actually been listening, so happy so last
- 3:22Speaker 1: night another dumpster situation. They were out searching the neighborhood.
- 3:27Speaker 1: Somebody had a dumpster out in front of their house,
- 3:29Speaker 1: and sure enough, there's a giant blue kayak stick it
- 3:32Speaker 1: out of the dumpster. So they pulled it out and
- 3:36Speaker 1: they attached it to the back of one of the
- 3:38Speaker 1: kid's e bikes, hopped in it, and they were dragging
- 3:41Speaker 1: each other around the neighborhood. They also went over to
- 3:45Speaker 1: this big hill. There's a big hill in our neighborhood
- 3:47Speaker 1: that it's it's like a sledding hill in the winter,
- 3:51Speaker 1: and they all they were taking turns. They were taking
- 3:54Speaker 1: turns sitting in the kayak and sliding down the hill.
- 3:58Speaker 1: Nicole sent me some videos this morning. The best part,
- 4:02Speaker 1: from what I understand is there was like five of
- 4:04Speaker 1: them all hanging out. So all five of them climbed
- 4:07Speaker 1: on top of this kayak and they were waiting for
- 4:10Speaker 1: some guy to come running by, because it's like on
- 4:12Speaker 1: a jogging path too. A guy came by jogging. They
- 4:15Speaker 1: were like, hey, hey, hey, can you push us all
- 4:17Speaker 1: down this hill? So this dude on the jogging path
- 4:20Speaker 1: went over, let all five of them pile onto it,
- 4:23Speaker 1: and he shoved them all down the hill. It's a
- 4:25Speaker 1: good guy. I was like, dude, that is a good guy.
- 4:27Speaker 4: Good guy.
- 4:28Speaker 1: So somehow, at the end of the night, when it
- 4:30Speaker 1: was all said and done, they decided to bring the
- 4:33Speaker 1: kayak back over to my house and dump it in
- 4:36Speaker 1: our front yard. So now I've got this thing that
- 4:38Speaker 1: I don't know what to do with. How long is
- 4:41Speaker 1: he gonna stay here? I guess I'll have to deal
- 4:43Speaker 1: with that when I get home later this afternoon, because
- 4:45Speaker 1: I'm gonna make him, like, pull it to that weird
- 4:47Speaker 1: kid's house. He's blowing things up. It's gonna kill your grass.
- 4:50Speaker 1: But isn't that funny? Like to wake up and have
- 4:52Speaker 1: a kayak in your frainger And you're right, kiddy, like.
- 4:54Speaker 3: I love this, no, absolutely, And I love that you
- 4:57Speaker 3: are the awesome parent.
- 4:59Speaker 2: You're the house set. All the kids talked about, like
- 5:02Speaker 2: where do we bring this kayak?
- 5:03Speaker 1: What do we do with it?
- 5:04Speaker 2: They came up with your house. They get together like
- 5:08Speaker 2: that means you are the awesome.
- 5:10Speaker 1: Go that far.
- 5:11Speaker 2: That's what I'm coming to the far What do you mean?
- 5:14Speaker 1: I think the kid's house where they're blowing stuff up
- 5:17Speaker 1: in the microwave, that's probably the cool parents house. Why
- 5:20Speaker 1: they know better to bring that and put it on
- 5:23Speaker 1: my nice lawn. Sure there was a kayak, and this
- 5:26Speaker 1: morning I think they panic and they had to dump
- 5:29Speaker 1: it up. Yeah, because I think my son would know better, Like,
- 5:35Speaker 1: my dad's not gonna want to visit the house.
- 5:37Speaker 3: No, yeah, sir, there was a kayak this morning.
- 5:41Speaker 1: And it's still there. I'm getting my saws all out
- 5:44Speaker 1: and I'm cutting this thing in half and then half
- 5:47Speaker 1: again and then half again, and I'm gonna try to
- 5:50Speaker 1: fit it into my trash can. But bottom line, I
- 5:53Speaker 1: take it back again. I can't be mad at this
- 5:57Speaker 1: because I loved it. All these boys I do too,
- 6:00Speaker 1: head out every night. They try to find junk on
- 6:02Speaker 1: the side of the road. They go through dumpsters, and
- 6:05Speaker 1: they're having a hell of a time and they're having fun. Yeah,
- 6:09Speaker 1: this is like something you'd see in a coming of
- 6:11Speaker 1: age like movie from Disney, you know. Yeah, the kids
- 6:14Speaker 1: are out having fun. Absolutely, I'm very excited about that.
- 6:18Speaker 1: But man, the kayak that got me a smart and
- 6:20Speaker 1: I was like, I haven't got this. I really don't.
- 6:23Speaker 1: All right, we got a little moral dilemma for you
- 6:26Speaker 1: guys that we like to read on the air each
- 6:28Speaker 1: and every week comes from our listeners. We love that
- 6:30Speaker 1: because we get all up in your business. But then
- 6:33Speaker 1: we let you guys call in and sound off, give
- 6:35Speaker 1: your thoughts and opinions. So be ready for that. This
- 6:38Speaker 1: is from Janie and Lakewood. Hi, Jamie. Jamie says, holy crap,
- 6:43Speaker 1: dot dot dot. I heard about Katie's epic car find situation,
- 6:48Speaker 1: and I'm going through the same thing. Yeah, we talked
- 6:50Speaker 1: about Katie's car a couple of days ago. She's got
- 6:52Speaker 1: a sweet car from the nineteen hundreds with slow miles,
- 6:55Speaker 1: So she did you name it Cookie?
- 6:59Speaker 2: I named it Cookie.
- 7:01Speaker 1: For a seconds, I thought you were like hungry For
- 7:05Speaker 1: a second, Katie were doing a show. Here go get
- 7:08Speaker 1: your chips away on your own time. Okay, what the
- 7:14Speaker 1: hell is that now? Josh is joining us? Okay, So
- 7:18Speaker 1: Jamie says, long story short. A friend did me a solid,
- 7:21Speaker 1: sold me a car they were getting rid of. Gave
- 7:23Speaker 1: me a great deal too, about one thousand dollars under
- 7:26Speaker 1: Kelly Blue Book. So I took it to my mechanic
- 7:30Speaker 1: for a once over, expecting the usual yep, this's the
- 7:33Speaker 1: car it runs. Instead, he basically dropped a bomb on me.
- 7:38Speaker 1: He said, this car is a fine. Oh, apparently collectors
- 7:42Speaker 1: of this particular model will pay ten times what I
- 7:45Speaker 1: paid for it. Ten times. Naturally, I did what any
- 7:49Speaker 1: responsible adult would do. I immediately googled the heck out
- 7:53Speaker 1: of it, and my mechanic was right. I could literally
- 7:57Speaker 1: sell this thing for an incredibly nice profit. Now here's
- 8:01Speaker 1: the thing. I still need a car, but I could
- 8:04Speaker 1: buy a perfectly decent, used one and have a whole
- 8:06Speaker 1: lot of money left over with this one. Sounds like
- 8:09Speaker 1: I just won the car lottery, right, she said? There's
- 8:12Speaker 1: one problem. My friend clearly had no idea what they had.
- 8:17Speaker 1: I love this line. She goes, Now, I'm stuck in neutral,
- 8:20Speaker 1: and she goes zing, ha ha. If I sell the car,
- 8:23Speaker 1: do I come clean? Do I give my friend a
- 8:25Speaker 1: cut of the profit? Do I keep my mouth shut?
- 8:28Speaker 1: Because technically we agreed on a price and the car
- 8:31Speaker 1: is now mine. I'm not looking for the legal answer here,
- 8:35Speaker 1: I'm looking for the moral answer. Okay, every time I
- 8:38Speaker 1: think about cashing in, my stomach starts doing donuts. So, guys,
- 8:42Speaker 1: what's the right thing to do? Use this for your show?
- 8:45Speaker 1: Knows the segment. It's driving me crazy, She said, Gosh, bump.
- 8:50Speaker 1: You guys love Katie's laugh. It's contagious and that's from
- 8:54Speaker 1: Jamie and lay in Lakewood. So listen if you want
- 8:57Speaker 1: to sound off about Jamie's situation. Phone lines are open, calls, comments, texts, whatever,
- 9:02Speaker 1: three oh three six' nine one one mix three oh
- 9:05Speaker 1: three six nine one sixteen forty. Nine phone lines are
- 9:09Speaker 1: already Ringing. KATIE i don't even know IF i want
- 9:11Speaker 1: you to sound off about, this because you truly are
- 9:13Speaker 1: kind of in the same.
- 9:14Speaker 3: Situation, ABSOLUTELY i mean it literally just went through this
- 9:18Speaker 3: and they're With jamie's. RIGHT i, mean it definitely tugs
- 9:21Speaker 3: at your moral heartstrings if you, will because, yeah you
- 9:26Speaker 3: could make some, money but you might feel bad about.
- 9:28Speaker 2: It so will give us.
- 9:30Speaker 1: NUMBERS i got to know what she. Paid but if
- 9:32Speaker 1: this thing is ten TIMES i mean what she paid
- 9:36Speaker 1: two grand and she's sell it for twenty, k let's
- 9:39Speaker 1: say that's a big.
- 9:40Speaker 2: Profit that's a lot of shap, right, Absolutely.
- 9:44Speaker 1: SO i mean we could probably be right in that,
- 9:47Speaker 1: ballpark you, know of what she paid versus what it's.
- 9:51Speaker 1: Worth so it's probably a sweet little ride that her
- 9:53Speaker 1: friend had no. Idea BUT i know a lot of
- 9:55Speaker 1: people out there that are not car.
- 9:57Speaker 2: People they don't know what they have, exactly and they're
- 9:59Speaker 2: just looking to.
- 10:00Speaker 1: Unload.
- 10:00Speaker 3: Right something THAT i found out is The kelly Blue
- 10:04Speaker 3: book price doesn't reflect what you know collectors will pay
- 10:08Speaker 3: or if there's like a niche buy for this kind of.
- 10:11Speaker 2: Thing it's not going to say.
- 10:12Speaker 3: That it's only going to say what The kelly Blue
- 10:15Speaker 3: book says it's.
- 10:16Speaker 1: Worth so, yeah it can be.
- 10:18Speaker 2: Very confusing when it comes to selling and buying a.
- 10:20Speaker 1: Vehicle, well she's stuck in, neutral you. GUYS i hate
- 10:25Speaker 1: that because that's a solid line THAT i would. Use
- 10:28Speaker 1: came with. It what Should jamie? Do she got this
- 10:31Speaker 1: car from a, friend got a great, deal found out
- 10:34Speaker 1: that it's worth like ten times what she paid for.
- 10:37Speaker 1: It should she sell, it take the? Cash should she
- 10:40Speaker 1: give some cash back to the original? Owner should she
- 10:43Speaker 1: shut up about? It Kai, patrick good, Morning hey, body
- 10:48Speaker 1: what would you do in this? Situation keep, it sleep over?
- 10:53Speaker 4: It, no something just happened to me in a very similar.
- 10:57Speaker 4: WAY i bought a. TRAILER i didn't even know there
- 11:00Speaker 4: were collectible. Trailers. YEAH i paid about four thousand for,
- 11:04Speaker 4: it AND i found out about three weeks later from
- 11:08Speaker 4: some feedback from other people who saw me driving it
- 11:12Speaker 4: that they go for about fifty five to sixty thousand.
- 11:15Speaker 4: Dollars there's only a handful of them in the.
- 11:18Speaker 1: Country so did you sell?
- 11:19Speaker 5: It And i'm thinking about?
- 11:22Speaker 2: It?
- 11:22Speaker 4: Yeah? Absolutely you, know the moral dilemma for me comes
- 11:26Speaker 4: in if you knew that information, beforehand correct and kept
- 11:31Speaker 4: it to. You that's WHERE i would feel uncomfortable about.
- 11:34Speaker 4: It but things in society and value are so. Fickle,
- 11:38Speaker 4: well what happened if this was a straight deal and
- 11:42Speaker 4: then the world decided it was an awesome collectible thing
- 11:46Speaker 4: a year? Later do you then know or then well
- 11:48Speaker 4: what about five?
- 11:49Speaker 1: Nights, yeah that would be totally. DIFFERENT i wouldn't feel
- 11:51Speaker 1: guilty about. THAT i, guess Like katie was saying off the,
- 11:54Speaker 1: year the moral dilemma for us would be finding that
- 11:57Speaker 1: out like right, away and then you feel bad for
- 12:00Speaker 1: your friend that your friend is missing out on that. Opportunity,
- 12:03Speaker 1: yeah you, Know like that's.
- 12:04Speaker 2: The piece, here because did you buy the trailer from your?
- 12:07Speaker 2: FRIEND i?
- 12:09Speaker 1: Did?
- 12:10Speaker 2: Oh you?
- 12:12Speaker 1: Did you? Said but you know, what you know What?
- 12:15Speaker 1: Patrick you know what's funny is it's different when it's
- 12:19Speaker 1: dudes as. WELL i think like if that happened to
- 12:22Speaker 1: me and a, Buddy i'd be, like too, bad, dude
- 12:24Speaker 1: you screwed.
- 12:24Speaker 3: Up.
- 12:25Speaker 1: YEAH i would hold that over his head for the
- 12:26Speaker 1: rest of his, Life like.
- 12:28Speaker 4: Yeah and it's how far down that rabbit hole do you?
- 12:32Speaker 4: Go do you do that with every single thing you have?
- 12:35Speaker 4: To you, know if you got a great value out
- 12:37Speaker 4: of something and you constantly owe people because it's worth
- 12:41Speaker 4: a little more than they thought of it the.
- 12:42Speaker 1: Worse and guys are, like do your own, homework you jack.
- 12:46Speaker 1: Ass you, Know, PATRICK i gotta let you, go, Buddy
- 12:49Speaker 1: but thank you so. MUCH i got to get to
- 12:50Speaker 1: these other. Calls but he, says don't feel bad about.
- 12:54Speaker 1: It just for your. Life Here's, Jack, Hi.
- 12:56Speaker 5: Jack, hey how were we?
- 12:57Speaker 4: Doing?
- 12:58Speaker 5: Everybody, hey we're, good.
- 12:59Speaker 1: Buddy what do you Think amy should do about this?
- 13:01Speaker 1: Vehicle should she sell?
- 13:02Speaker 5: It you, KNOW i fully agree With patrick on everything he.
- 13:06Speaker 5: Said there's that slight moral, dilemma BUT i think it's that.
- 13:09Speaker 5: CLASSIC i mean. Consumerism if you're if you're looking at
- 13:12Speaker 5: two products and one is way, cheaper why would you
- 13:15Speaker 5: not go for? That i'm personally On Facebook marketplace all the,
- 13:19Speaker 5: time And i'm looking for great deals and whether it's
- 13:23Speaker 5: a friend Or facebook. Marketplace if you're going to give
- 13:26Speaker 5: me a steal and not do your own, HOMEWORK i
- 13:28Speaker 5: don't know why it would be your responsibility to tell, Them,
- 13:32Speaker 5: hey you should be charging me ten times more than.
- 13:34Speaker 1: This that's kind of Where i'm, at is, like that's on.
- 13:37Speaker 1: You like, you you put a dollar amount on it
- 13:40Speaker 1: and said this is what is acceptable to. Me you
- 13:43Speaker 1: give it to that person and they're fine with, it
- 13:45Speaker 1: that's on them then if it's worth.
- 13:47Speaker 5: MORE i also think the friends should have no issues
- 13:50Speaker 5: if they find out after the after the, Cause, yeah
- 13:54Speaker 5: you find out that they lost out on ten percent
- 13:56Speaker 5: or ten times the. Profit, yeah sob looking at themselves
- 14:00Speaker 5: thinking that they're they're the idiot and they're the ones
- 14:03Speaker 5: that lost mask for the, money.
- 14:05Speaker 1: Right, Right? JACK i appreciate your, call my, friend some
- 14:09Speaker 1: good dude advice there, again, right just logical and cutting dry.
- 14:13Speaker 2: Exactly it makes so much.
- 14:15Speaker 1: Sense here's. Desiree how you do?
- 14:18Speaker 4: It?
- 14:19Speaker 1: God, Hi so what are your thoughts on?
- 14:22Speaker 5: This she could, well if she really likes the, car
- 14:27Speaker 5: she should keep. It but if if she needs the,
- 14:30Speaker 5: money take the. Money take the. Money because ALL i
- 14:34Speaker 5: do every mostly every day is buy.
- 14:36Speaker 1: Cars she fixed them up and resell. THEM i got
- 14:39Speaker 1: This volkswagen. Bus you've probably seen any of the attech and,
- 14:43Speaker 1: UH i paid only three, thousand and it's worth ninety
- 14:45Speaker 1: five hundred right.
- 14:46Speaker 4: Now this.
- 14:47Speaker 1: Guy look at this guy flipping making making a. Deal
- 14:51Speaker 1: so you're all about the, money so you're like, whatever of.
- 14:53Speaker 4: Course.
- 14:54Speaker 5: Yeah and then a friend of, mine he was selling
- 14:56Speaker 5: His camaro to. Me i'm, like, uh you know how
- 14:58Speaker 5: much it's?
- 14:59Speaker 4: Worth?
- 14:59Speaker 1: Right he, SAYS i was about sixty five.
- 15:01Speaker 5: HUNDRED i, said, WELL i only got twelve. Hundred there's
- 15:04Speaker 5: a deal right. There pick you up for twelve hundred.
