- 0:00Speaker 1: Well, this is for you, Gina. This is from the
- 0:05Speaker 1: Korea Times. Can you imagine?
- 0:08Speaker 2: Why?
- 0:09Speaker 3: Why do you get that?
- 0:10Speaker 2: I don't know. Why do you get that?
- 0:15Speaker 1: A new meetup trend is spreading among young Koreans.
- 0:20Speaker 2: It's like meeting for the first time. Yeah.
- 0:22Speaker 1: The gatherings have emerged as the latest social fad, following
- 0:27Speaker 1: the brief popularity of Cops and Robbers meetups inspired by
- 0:30Speaker 1: the childhood game.
- 0:32Speaker 3: You want to get together and play Cops and Robbers.
- 0:35Speaker 1: I guess that was the thing for a bit, But
- 0:37Speaker 1: now this is the new meetup thing. People of all
- 0:41Speaker 1: ages and backgrounds are coming together for French fries.
- 0:46Speaker 4: Well, it is something that could bring people together. I
- 0:51Speaker 4: can see that.
- 0:51Speaker 2: Well, I think we did that when I was a kid.
- 0:54Speaker 1: In online communities, invitation posts for meetups centered on eating
- 0:58Speaker 1: French fries or on the rise on carrot, which I
- 1:01Speaker 1: guess is an app.
- 1:02Speaker 2: Oh, look at those French fries.
- 1:04Speaker 1: A local marketplace and community app. Ninety nine French fry
- 1:08Speaker 1: meetup groups have been created.
- 1:10Speaker 2: Eleven in Seoul, Korea alone.
- 1:14Speaker 1: A fry club in Mapo District attracted seven hundred and
- 1:18Speaker 1: thirty one members within just two weeks of its launch.
- 1:21Speaker 1: I need a fry club while a gang while a
- 1:24Speaker 1: gangdam based group dedicated to specifically McDonald's fries drew four
- 1:29Speaker 1: hundred and ninety one members. I wonder where those fries
- 1:31Speaker 1: are from. Those look good?
- 1:33Speaker 5: Those are those are twice fried and it looks like
- 1:37Speaker 5: beef tallow and they're.
- 1:38Speaker 3: Like in a little individual basket, which I like.
- 1:41Speaker 2: And there's a ketchup and mustard available for them now
- 1:44Speaker 2: the Korea Times.
- 1:45Speaker 1: In the Korea Times article then goes on to say
- 1:50Speaker 1: health experts urge moderation and the rest of there's like
- 1:54Speaker 1: a fourth of it is about the fry meetups, and
- 1:57Speaker 1: three quarters of the article is about how fries are bad.
- 2:01Speaker 3: People together. That's what I'm taking away from this so
- 2:05Speaker 3: fry club.
- 2:06Speaker 2: So I think you need to either start a fry club.
- 2:09Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean I don't need to meet, you know,
- 2:12Speaker 4: like a dating thing.
- 2:13Speaker 5: But let's have a radio from hell fry club. Well
- 2:16Speaker 5: see what friends of the program.
- 2:18Speaker 1: What Sue suggested was is that people bid to meet
- 2:25Speaker 1: you for fries and we give the money to charity.
- 2:29Speaker 1: Oh and we you know, we'd have some people there
- 2:33Speaker 1: around you.
- 2:33Speaker 3: To manage the fry.
- 2:37Speaker 5: Well yeah, Nick, Nick, we'd have Nick are people. Nick
- 2:42Speaker 5: would be Nick would be there to you know, handle
- 2:44Speaker 5: any trouble.
- 2:46Speaker 4: This is so it would be what charity do we do?
- 2:50Speaker 2: You know?
- 2:51Speaker 3: Okay, it's up to you.
- 2:53Speaker 4: This is this is uh, this is something that needs
- 2:56Speaker 4: to be fleshed out. You know.
- 2:58Speaker 5: I've been thinking about food in this show lately. The
- 3:02Speaker 5: last couple of days. We used to have a sandwich
- 3:06Speaker 5: at Feldman's. Yeah, but I looked at their menu.
- 3:09Speaker 6: It's not on there and they only get the tongue occasionally.
- 3:12Speaker 6: It was the Radio from Hell tongue sandwich. Mike explained
- 3:15Speaker 6: that to me. He says, it's not on the menu.
- 3:17Speaker 6: We only get tongue every now and then.
- 3:19Speaker 5: But I think I'd like we should have at a
- 3:21Speaker 5: restaurant some some Uh.
- 3:24Speaker 2: Well, we did have a sushi roll. Oh is it
- 3:29Speaker 2: at Kyoto?
- 3:30Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 3:30Speaker 2: Yeah, we still have that.
- 3:31Speaker 5: Okay, so we have it's the X ninety sixth role.
- 3:35Speaker 5: But we need a Radio from Hell something, the Radio
- 3:39Speaker 5: from Hell, hot dog or some some restaurant needs.
- 3:44Speaker 2: To have a see the thing sure dish with our
- 3:47Speaker 2: name on it.
- 3:48Speaker 3: So the Kyoto used to be the Radio from Hell
- 3:51Speaker 3: roll when when it was at.
- 3:54Speaker 2: Its chi Shaban.
- 3:57Speaker 4: And the reason it was the Radio from Hell roll
- 3:59Speaker 4: is there's something for each of us in that role.
- 4:02Speaker 4: And my my contribution is it's it's fried. Yeah.
- 4:08Speaker 1: And then Peggy went over to Kyoto and that's she
- 4:11Speaker 1: took the recipe with her.
- 4:14Speaker 2: But I think it's just is it still called the
- 4:15Speaker 2: Radio from Hell?
- 4:16Speaker 4: It's called the X ninety six roll now. But my
- 4:18Speaker 4: point being is it was it was specific to us.
- 4:22Speaker 4: How that role is put.
- 4:24Speaker 5: Yeah, but it's it's still there. And the and the
- 4:26Speaker 5: tongue sandwich. That makes sense, the Radio from Hell tongue
- 4:30Speaker 5: easy tongue because you.
- 4:32Speaker 2: Know, like you get it well.
- 4:34Speaker 1: And briefly there for a while Captain Bastard's restaurant he
- 4:38Speaker 1: named a cocktail after me.
- 4:40Speaker 3: Oh what kind of cocktail was?
- 4:42Speaker 2: It was an appletini and it was called the Jackson.
- 4:47Speaker 2: And then then when he closed out, Jackson.
- 4:49Speaker 4: Is a nice name for a cocktail too. That's something
- 4:52Speaker 4: you can see going into a bar and ordering a Jackson.
- 4:57Speaker 2: Yeah, you don't. You wouldn't go into a bar and
- 4:59Speaker 2: order an all no give me, I like it all
- 5:03Speaker 2: read straight up please unless it was tomato juice red.
- 5:10Speaker 2: How would we do we need Jimmy here.
- 5:13Speaker 5: But but I you know, I just think we had
- 5:16Speaker 5: to have some restaurant off offer a signature dish that's
- 5:19Speaker 5: named after this, this show, something.
- 5:24Speaker 4: That we could Maybe I could get somebody to do
- 5:26Speaker 4: finger steaks, finger steak, I would like it. I'm just
- 5:32Speaker 4: trying to get somebody.
- 5:33Speaker 5: Again, something that's fried. You take a good, nice piece
- 5:37Speaker 5: of steak and then you fry.
- 5:38Speaker 3: I have I have my thing, Bill, you can have yours.
- 5:41Speaker 2: I'm glad you didn't say I have my standards.
- 5:44Speaker 3: No thing.
- 5:46Speaker 6: Uh.
- 5:47Speaker 2: Yeah, we want Jimmy create us a cocktail.
- 5:52Speaker 3: Yeah, perhaps for our anniversary or.
- 5:55Speaker 1: Anniversary that we may celebrate that we may or may
- 5:59Speaker 1: not make it too.
- 6:00Speaker 4: Yeah, the fortieth anniversary of the Radio from Hell Show
- 6:04Speaker 4: is coming.
- 6:05Speaker 3: I mean just the day is coming up.
- 6:07Speaker 1: Nothing's been planned, nothing's been planned as well, because nothing's
- 6:11Speaker 1: been planned.
- 6:12Speaker 2: Yeah, because they expect us to plan it. I think
- 6:16Speaker 2: they should surprise us. Exactly. You don't plan your own party.
- 6:19Speaker 3: They should surprise exactly. You want to walk in a
- 6:22Speaker 3: room and go what for me?
- 6:24Speaker 2: Exactly?
- 6:26Speaker 3: You don't want to plan it. It's lame when you
- 6:28Speaker 3: plan your own party.
- 6:29Speaker 1: It was on Tuesday that somebody said So if you
- 6:31Speaker 1: guys have any ideas of well, you know what you
- 6:34Speaker 1: want to do, And I'm like, no, you.
- 6:37Speaker 3: Don't plan your own party. That's weird.
- 6:41Speaker 5: Somebody, somebody in the chat room there, Nicole wants a
- 6:43Speaker 5: tater talk. I'll do a Tater Tot club with you.
- 6:46Speaker 5: I like tots. I've been a top fan for a
- 6:50Speaker 5: long time.
- 6:51Speaker 1: So we're having for Super Bowl tachos tachos, yes, instead
- 6:57Speaker 1: of chips, it's it's tater tots and you all the stuff.
- 7:01Speaker 2: On top of it.
- 7:02Speaker 4: We're having Joe's making the Mississippi prop pot roast and
- 7:06Speaker 4: then he's turning that into tacos.
- 7:08Speaker 2: Yelma,
