New Gold Dream | Memories of Simple Minds with Podcast Host Iain McDermott (Back To Now)
How does a childhood home filled with mixtape & cassette bargains, a teenage introduction to synthetic beats, and hosting a six-year pop culture podcast shape an eclectic music historian?
In this episode of The Friday Vinyl Club, Jamie sits down with Iain McDermott, Ken Bruce Popmaster TV grand finalist and host of the Back to Now podcast.
Together, they trace how Simple Minds’ atmospheric 1982 breakthrough, New Gold Dream (81-82-83-84), served as a timeless linchpin of symphonic texture, space, and Celtic-tinted electronic mystery.
