- 0:47out to tjuice tv where we're
- 0:50making it happen we got so much going on to talk about in a time that hey listen
- 0:55if you're here in the United States you already know many parts of the region
- 0:59here of the United States so we got that four seasons you know and spring is
- 1:04actually about to finish and then we got summer so I said you know what.
- 1:09Wherever don't matter whatever part of this world you are that you know that
- 1:13there's going to be a new month or new time or whatever the case might be.
- 1:17Sometimes we kind of want to hit that reset button and we got to hit that reset
- 1:21button because sometimes we get overwhelmed.
- 1:24We get a little bit flustered. When we do, we tend to be like,
- 1:28what the hell is going on?
- 1:29So in this podcast, we kind of like want to steer you up and please feel free
- 1:33to share wherever you are in your car,
- 1:36house, beach wherever you're doing
- 1:39that thing thing once again subscribe follow
- 1:43whatever it is hit the like comment hit the like and then comment if after this
- 1:47conversation and you're gonna feel like damn David okay well you know okay I
- 1:52get it but I need some guidelines and today I'm gonna help my peoples out there
- 1:57because once we hit the reset button sometimes it's.
- 2:01I take it back i'm not gonna say it's easy but sometimes
- 2:03there are aspects of life that we need to kind of like hit the reset button
- 2:07but we don't know where to start so over here on
- 2:10my screen we have something where one of the things
- 2:12that i always have belief that when we want to hit the reset button in certain
- 2:19aspect of life whether it's i can i say whether it's your you know professional
- 2:24your job your family financial a couple of things there with family friendship,
- 2:31whatever relationship, sometimes we just be like, I don't even know where to
- 2:35start, but I know I need to make a change.
- 2:37And here we're not necessarily talking about changes in itself because a lot
- 2:43of times we can't make changes real quick.
- 2:46But we need to some certain guidelines and I'm going to start with a vision.
- 2:51Because a lot of times when we don't visualize what exactly that we want to
- 2:55do once we hit the recent point, and I'll tell you the story real quick, a couple of weeks ago.
- 3:01You know, there was so much going on personally, professionally,
- 3:06future, past, present, all that good stuff, all that, you know,
- 3:10how can I say, un caldero ahí de todo.
- 3:14A nice stew, a nice pot right there with all the ingredients that you could put there.
- 3:19And I was not feeling overwhelmed, but it was just something that hit me.
- 3:24And it was just a reminder, like, you know, David,
- 3:28you know now now i got a little uh kind of uh
- 3:31voice in my head now it's not just david it's deconstructing topic
- 3:34podcast the deconstructor hey hey
- 3:37my boy what's going on and i kind of reminded
- 3:41myself of something that i visualized when i was a young puppy you know and
- 3:46i'm gonna say a young puppet a young wolf oh let's go let's make it happen and
- 3:50you kind of have you have to ask yourself and even to this day it doesn't matter
- 3:55what age you are what kind of life you truly want.
- 3:59Because we're going to measure life as in, hey, listen, what we did last year,
- 4:03what we did a year ago, what we're going to do a year ago.
- 4:06And you can't think like, hey, listen, it's not what others expect from me.
- 4:10Because a lot of times we put pressure because we think that there's people that expect something.
- 4:14And I say, oh, it's not what they expect from you.
- 4:18And it's not what society said. But, you know, what feels kind of meaningful to you.
- 4:23And, you know, I'm hoping that, you know, you could be able to visualize that.
- 4:26I'll most likely put it in my description so you could print it out,
- 4:30put it in your vision board and all that good stuff.
- 4:33Cause I ain't trying to discriminate on anybody on where you put your stuff.
- 4:37I know somebody that put their stuff on the wall and I'm like,
- 4:39what is it? You paint? I'm just saying.
- 4:42And when I read my wall, they don't put stickies or anything like that.
- 4:45They just like to write on the wall. I'm like, oh, that's a habit.
- 4:48That's something that we're going to talk about.
- 4:49But you know, I'm not here to shame on anybody on how you do it,
- 4:53but you have to have a vision like a kind
- 4:55of like a destination on your on your head like a map you
- 4:59have to know where you're going you have to know where where that step
- 5:02is at you just can't be like you know what i'm saying i just want people just
- 5:07take a moment and as you listen to this beautiful episode of the deconstructing
- 5:13topic podcast that host just take a moment and picture what exactly you want And then from there,
- 5:22once you set like a roadmap to where, then right there.
- 5:26So we're going to start with vision. Always have that vision thing going on.
- 5:31Another thing too, and this applies to me, and it applies to many people,
- 5:37that what exactly is our core values?
- 5:40What exactly it is that make us?
- 5:44And that's one thing that I always have said. Sometimes we don't have certain
- 5:48core values because we don't know, you know, we don't know what exactly it is.
- 5:55I want to say that I love freedom. I love to be able to think on my own, to do things on my own.
- 6:01Hey, I love my job too.
- 6:03But there's certain things, there's certain freedom that wants to feel.
- 6:06And I think that we, many of us, for those there that have family,
- 6:11you're committed to something, your job, whatever it is.
- 6:14I know that freedom tends to become a little bit difficult, but you have to
- 6:18have a sense of what you can do because you can't always limit yourself.
- 6:23I know that there's that saying that sometimes in life, and it happens to me
- 6:27that sometimes I feel as if life is sacrificing you for the better of others.
- 6:32And I'm like, no, you know, that could happen. And it is true.
- 6:36And there's been people that have been that, but it doesn't mean that you can't grow.
- 6:40It doesn't mean that you can't create. That doesn't mean that you can't be stable.
- 6:45You know, your values, it's like a little, in your head, it's like a little compass.
- 6:50What do you cherish the most? Think about it. Just write down what you cherish the most.
- 6:55What are those things that I could just plug in, in this map that I got in my head?
- 7:01Again, whether it's freedom, family, you know, creativity. Hey,
- 7:04listen, I got a podcast because I'm a creative person.
- 7:10And I want to share my creativity with other people.
- 7:14So once that your life matches your value, you're going to start to like fulfill like, okay.
- 7:20And look, I want people, I want to tell people everything in my life.
- 7:26You know what I'm saying?
- 7:27Because sometimes storytelling, we could all feed off each other from what we
- 7:31learned from certain things, you know? But one thing I always want to say is this.
- 7:36You're going to see and you're going to follow that there's the vision,
- 7:39there's something I want to do and I.
- 7:41Put myself there, you know what, perhaps not on this birthday, on my next birthday.
- 7:46And hey, listen, I know that birthday becomes a self thing, but sometimes you
- 7:51want to put a little kind of stick like a checkpoint.
- 7:55We're definitely going to make it, and we're definitely going to make it happen.
- 7:58And when you don't, and trust me, when you don't have those things,
- 8:02it's going to feel like if you don't have those core values,
- 8:06you're probably going to feel off and then steer away from that path.
- 8:12And that's why I'm very, very adamant. And I started to do this,
- 8:17set some short and long-term plans.
- 8:21Again, go to the board, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
- 8:24If there's one thing that happened to me, I was doing, you know what else?
- 8:29I'm in stuff, you know, in my life.
- 8:32I was doing my little budget going on. Hey, listen, it's always good to budgetize
- 8:36and, you know, so on and so forth.
- 8:38Because on the short and long-term, hey, listen.
- 8:41I got a job that, hey, when I retire, I'm going to have some money.
- 8:45I'm going to have some pension. I'm going to have this.
- 8:48But we can't go out there in retirement without not having a sense of what you
- 8:53need to do or what you should do.
- 8:55So I kind of felt like I work better if I do somewhat of a bigger plan.
- 9:05And I did kind of like a budget. Okay, this is the budget.
- 9:08This is, you know, my pay. This is my budget for the whole month of June.
- 9:13Yeah, June is around the corner. Oh, my goodness.
- 9:16And I kind of said to myself, wow, it's different because a lot of people do
- 9:23the weekly thing. Hey, listen, hey, there's a lot of people that do a little
- 9:27short term on a daily basis, per hour.
- 9:30That's where they have those, what do they call those things? Planners, right?
- 9:34Ain't nothing wrong with that. But short term, long term, you have to set those goals.
- 9:40What can you do? You want to work out three times a week? Do you want to start saving money?
- 9:46Do you, one of the things that I kind of started doing is that when I go shopping,
- 9:50whether it's groceries, whatever, I keep the receipts. Now I compare to what it is.
- 9:55Should I have bought that? You know, it's the needs and the wants. You know what I mean?
- 9:59But once that you have your clear
- 10:00goals, turn those goals into a direction somewhere. Boom, boom, boom.
- 10:05Because that's all he needs is that direction. And sadly, a lot of us like that.
- 10:10But once that we got that direction, once we have those goals.
- 10:15Trust me, it's going to help you so much.
- 10:19Write it down. Set some goals. Short term. and long-term.
- 10:26One of the things that I also mentioned on this one is that create an action plan.
- 10:32And that's the thing is that, okay, you got the goals. You might say,
- 10:35David, what's the difference between goals and create an action plan? The key was action.
- 10:40One thing is to say, I want to work three days a week.
- 10:45The action would be, okay, let's start so that I can know exactly how to perform.
- 10:50What are you going to do? When will you do it? How often? You understand?
- 10:54If you don't create goals, they just become like, oh, well, I wish I did this.
- 10:58I wish I did that. You know, did this. And then we start to procrastinate.
- 11:02I mentioned on one of my podcasts, it takes 1%.
- 11:071%. Start doing something 1%. If you know that you're doing something wrong,
- 11:12then I'd be guilty of something.
- 11:14Can I? Can I? Can I? I'll be guilty of something.
- 11:18You know, I enjoy networking, you know, going to places, restaurants, new places.
- 11:24And I look at that menu and I see, it's a beer that I never tasted.
- 11:30And then from one beer goes to two and to three.
- 11:34I'm sorry. I'm just saying, hey, I enjoy some of the adult beverage.
- 11:38But you get what I'm saying here.
- 11:42So I said, next time, instead of three, let's go with two.
- 11:45But again, sometimes that's why a lot of people tend to like,
- 11:49when it comes to action, they stop because they think that you have to accomplish
- 11:52something like right away. You don't. Just little steps.
- 11:55Start at 1%. Take 1% of something and put 1% of this.
- 12:01Then one becomes two, two becomes three, and then so on and so forth.
- 12:06Small steps. And you're going to see, once you start doing this constantly.
- 12:12Empowerment yes another thing too here folks i hope that you're enjoying this
- 12:17once again hit the like button it means a lot it it kind of i always tell people if you're listening,
- 12:24it doesn't hurt to hit the like button i don't know where you're listening to
- 12:28but gonna get on your laptop wherever you listen to hit the like as it helps
- 12:32the algorithm because we want people like deconstructing we want deconstructing
- 12:36to be all over the place We'll see you next time.
- 12:39And that is why we need to build habits and routine. One of the habits that
- 12:44I want people to build is hitting that light bulb.
- 12:46Common and sharing. Hey, listen, sharing is caring.
- 12:50But when we'll change habits in life, habits, habits, habits.
- 12:56We are creatures of habits. And we got to create habits. Good ones, good ones.
- 13:03You know, I know people, you know, and I kind of have tried to master this,
- 13:07and I'm pretty sure I will.
- 13:09That there's a lot of people that they rely on motivation. They want to wake
- 13:13up and say, oh, man, I need some music.
- 13:17I need something inspiring. I need something this. And sometimes I would say, it's this.
- 13:22The other day, something happened. And I said to myself, sometimes we don't
- 13:29need to necessarily get a wake-up call in order to wake up.
- 13:34Whether something that happened drastically, you
- 13:37know we don't have to wait wake up to that just
- 13:41start time a morning planning start time start a
- 13:44routine daily exercise read time learn more listen you're listening to my podcast
- 13:49by you subscribing and sharing it you're gonna learn a lot more and once you
- 13:55become consistent you build that habit it's gonna become routine trust me because
- 14:00why is it that we have habits we are humans.
- 14:03But why is it we so come to the bad habits and not the good ones?
- 14:08Complacency, right? We think that good habits hurt.
- 14:11We think that good habits cost money. We think that good habits are going to,
- 14:15I don't know, change their life to go against what you are. No,
- 14:19no, no. Good habits, build habits.
- 14:21I'm going to say good habits because if you're not, if you're listening to this
- 14:25and you're not necessarily happy, or you think that you want to make changes
- 14:28and you're listening to of this podcast, this episode.
- 14:32Those habits, those routines. Let's make it happen. I know we can.
- 14:35Okay. I apologize here for a little silence.
- 14:38One of the things is that track progress regularly.
- 14:42And people are going to be like, huh.
- 14:45Just saying. Okay. I still want to help you. But track progress because you
- 14:49can't improve if you don't know what exactly you track.
- 14:53I mean, if you're going to the gym, or even if you're not going to the gym,
- 14:56because again, I go back to habits and routine.
- 14:59Because for some reason, oh, you know, you know, the gym and course and this and that.
- 15:04Trust me, people, a lot of people out there are going to listen to this episode.
- 15:08They do tend to have a little extra time that they don't know what to do.
- 15:12They'd probably rather get a little bit drunk. They probably want to go shopping
- 15:17and splurge and do some crazy stuff and not be happy.
- 15:21So track your progress, whether it's your exercising, whether you're learning
- 15:26something, whether the other day at work we had a meeting and somebody,
- 15:30there was a word that came up.
- 15:32For some reason, I'm trying to remember the word. I think it was omen.
- 15:36There were a couple of people that didn't, how can I say it to you?
- 15:40They didn't know the word omen, O-M-E-N, but we're here.
- 15:45And that's one of those things that if people are really interested in learning,
- 15:49grab a word that you learned today.
- 15:51Grab something, track your progress.
- 15:54If my vocabulary has 5,000 words, by next week I want to learn a couple so that I have 5,000 and two.
- 16:01I'm just saying, what is it that you're working? What's working? What's not?
- 16:05You know, are you moving forward? How do you feel? Sometimes you got to ask yourself how you feel.
- 16:10You always got to keep yourself aware and be accountable for what you do because
- 16:14track your progress, I'm telling you.
- 16:17And once you track your progress, you're going to be doing good and you're going to be excellent.
- 16:22As I'm moving here and keep in mind is this, I'm looking at you,
- 16:25but I got like a little screen here.
- 16:28I got to kind of scroll into making sure that, you know, everything is working.
- 16:34And that's how I track my progress there.
- 16:36I'm over here, you know, moving in certain parts. But once again,
- 16:40I'm trying to be accountable and keep yourself aware.
- 16:43And that's why I'm always kind of wondering. You're like, wait,
- 16:46it's looking around because I'm aware and I'm tracking everything.
- 16:49But I'm just saying sometimes in life when we do have plans,
- 16:52keep in mind, just track your progress. If you feel like something is not working,
- 16:58just make it a little adjustment and improve here.
- 17:02That's the kick is, look, you're always going to hear this. Life isn't perfect.
- 17:06And your plan doesn't. You know what I mean? Nobody's saying that this is to
- 17:10all be just like me when I'm about to hit the reset button in June.
- 17:15I'm not chasing perfection. I'm not trying to be perfect.
- 17:19Is the pursuit of perfection drives me? Absolutely. Do I want to be perfect?
- 17:24No. Is my plan going to be perfect?
- 17:26Absolutely not. Because, you know, you got the bad habits, the routine.
- 17:30You got life. You got all this.
- 17:32And one of the things that I always want to say is this, is that if you don't
- 17:36know, just change your approach and you'll be like, hey, listen,
- 17:38let me try something different.
- 17:39Let me do something different. Be flexible.
- 17:43Be as flexible as you can. Sometimes we got those, hey, I'm going to do three.
- 17:48I work, I go to the gym four days a week.
- 17:51Can I do five? Absolutely. Can I do three? Absolutely.
- 17:54Am I going to be happy? Absolutely. Am I going to be doing two?
- 17:58Absolutely. Am I going to be happy? Yes.
- 18:00Because I adjust that because sometimes, hey, listen, in the spring I got,
- 18:06you know, congested and I got sick.
- 18:10And then you go back to the gym on your routine or whatever it is,
- 18:13and then guess what? I didn't feel a certain way. I'm like, okay.
- 18:17So sometimes you got to be flexible. One of the things that when in the world
- 18:22of progress, like we know that it's not a line.
- 18:25We know that process is just a learning and adapting and making those little
- 18:30adjustments because one thing I've noticed with people that they deviate from
- 18:35their goals and their vision and all that is that when something happens unexpectedly,
- 18:40they think, oh, man, that's life. It is life.
- 18:43Like I always tell people, 9 out of 10 things in life, it's going to be bad.
- 18:46It's that one thing that you do good that's going to kind of topple and make
- 18:51you feel that you're doing something incredibly good.
- 18:55So that's what's going on with that situation. and once that you feel like achieve and reflect.
- 19:02Accomplish something in this, how can I say, mission that we in?
- 19:07I say we, because it is me, the Deconstructing Topic Podcast legend.
- 19:14And it is you, the audience that's listening, my family, that's taking time to listen.
- 19:20Is that when you do, let's say, a weekly thing, take time to reflect And you'd
- 19:25be like, what did I achieve?
- 19:28Because I always have saddest this. And one of my sisters in a podcast,
- 19:34Partner in Crime, if you will, shout out to Nisi on Filter Show,
- 19:39that we had an episode about New Year's.
- 19:42And she always said that New Year's resolution is one of the most overrated,
- 19:45and I believe so. And I'm with her. And why?
- 19:49Because we spend so much time thinking what we didn't do instead of thinking what we achieved.
- 19:56Again, nine out of 10 times in life, it's gonna throw you off,
- 20:00but it's just that one thing. What did you achieve?
- 20:03Reflect on it. Perhaps, you know, we could celebrate. You know what?
- 20:07It's like me. I'll give an example.
- 20:09Oh, next week, I'll probably go to the gym four or five days,
- 20:12work on some new routine, whatever. You know what I might celebrate?
- 20:16Not by having three beers. Not by having two beers. I'm just gonna have one
- 20:20because now I'm eliminating that. I'm celebrating my win.
- 20:25Yeah, let's go. Woo. But I'm just saying, I don't need to buy a beer.
- 20:30But you get what I'm saying.
- 20:31And sometimes we could, it doesn't mean that we're going to stop doing what
- 20:35we're doing. We could celebrate something. We could do something.
- 20:39Just do something. And always have to take that time to reflect.
- 20:43And you'll be like, once you reflect, you'll be like, okay.
- 20:46Ask yourself this question, what did I learn? That is one thing.
- 20:50And I work, and I still do this.
- 20:56Sometimes, you know, when I'm talking to one of my colleagues or anybody in life,
- 21:01but when I'm talking to one of my colleagues, whether it's something outside
- 21:06of work or in work, you know, because I'm always, my mind is always,
- 21:10my juices is always flowing.
- 21:12Whether you're younger than me,
- 21:14my age or older than me, I always said to people, you're learning a lot.
- 21:18You're learning a lot. And don't forget this. What did you learn? Right?
- 21:23What did you learn? That's the question that a lot of people tend not to ask.
- 21:30Because as I'm helping you here, set up a little gold mine of a plan here.
- 21:37Regardless of whatever, you catch yourself a lot of times doing the same thing
- 21:42is because you don't ask yourself, What did I learn,
- 21:47Every aspect of your life It's a learning curve Whether it's your learn Whether
- 21:52you didn't learn Whether whatever came out of it You just gotta reflect And
- 21:58just turn them into Something positive,
- 22:02You're smarter If you made a mistake before And you said I gotta learn from
- 22:08this Then you know what It's not that I gotta learn from this I already learned
- 22:10something So turn that into a wisdom.
- 22:14Once again, here's my thing. Keep this in mind. It's your vision,
- 22:18your values, your goals, your actions, your habits, track, adjust, reflect.
- 22:22Keep in mind, it's like a cycle. Keep those things in mind.
- 22:25Vision, values, goals, action, habits, track, adjust, reflect,
- 22:29make it happen. It's a cycle.
- 22:32That's another thing, too. I tell people, David, I move my hands a lot because I'm very animated.
- 22:39I'm very passionate about helping you and helping myself. because together we can.
