• 0:34
Speaker 4: begin on let's talk.
• 0:37
Speaker 3: Hello, ladies and gentlemen, This is Carly with Let's talk
• 0:39
Speaker 3: and have in the building. Hollis Lewis, Hello, and the
• 0:44
Speaker 3: famous miss Odi Lisa Ody.
• 0:47
  Speaker 5: Hello.
• 0:50
Speaker 3: Interesting time of the year. Football training camp. I call
• 0:58
Speaker 3: it training camp and I don't know what still is right?
• 1:02
Speaker 2: What do they call it camp?
• 1:04
Speaker 3: Do they call it just camp or something like for
• 1:06
Speaker 3: like the youth football or not?
• 1:07
Speaker 2: Should I should know that? But high school football? What
• 1:10
Speaker 2: are they call it? Call it? In high summer? Camp?
• 1:12
Speaker 2: Training camp? Okay? All right?
• 1:14
  Speaker 6: Camp?
• 1:16
Speaker 2: Hollis. We went through camp.
• 1:21
Speaker 3: At State and as a coach, I can make the
• 1:26
Speaker 3: case that you know it went well and da, But
• 1:30
Speaker 3: I'm interested in your take on what does that when
• 1:36
Speaker 3: you hear training camp? What is it that goes through
• 1:40
Speaker 3: your mind? What is it that you think about when
• 1:42
Speaker 3: you think about you being in camp.
• 1:45
Speaker 2: Man, this is the challenge. The dog days of summer.
• 1:47
Speaker 1: I mean it was you know, at that time, we
• 1:50
Speaker 1: would do three days and you have two meetings in
• 1:53
Speaker 1: between there. So you would have you know, you're going
• 1:56
Speaker 1: to have your morning practice, You'll go back to your room,
• 2:01
Speaker 1: eat rest, and then you have probably then your individual meeting,
• 2:06
Speaker 1: and then you have your afternoon practice. Then you would
• 2:10
Speaker 1: have a team meeting or walk through, and then if
• 2:12
Speaker 1: you play special teams, you would have an additional practice.
• 2:15
Speaker 1: So it was a time to like if you weren't
• 2:17
Speaker 1: already in good shape, to you know, get in shape
• 2:20
Speaker 1: for the season. It was a time to learn your playbook.
• 2:22
Speaker 1: But I think more than anything, when I think back
• 2:24
Speaker 1: on that, it was really a time to you know,
• 2:27
Speaker 1: to build with your teammates, like you really got to
• 2:29
Speaker 1: know guys. We stayed on campus and we were I
• 2:32
Speaker 1: mean you're working from you know, seven am to nine
• 2:36
Speaker 1: ten pm every day for and it was like two
• 2:39
Speaker 1: and a half maybe three weeks at that time.
• 2:41
Speaker 2: Yea, So it was like a real it was a
• 2:43
  Speaker 2: camp like.
• 2:45
Speaker 6: That was what it was camp.
• 2:47
Speaker 3: Yeah, right, And when I go back and I go
• 2:50
Speaker 3: back to like you know, in full pads too.
• 2:52
  Speaker 2: H And I say that.
• 2:55
Speaker 3: It was a four week I can remember back in
• 2:57
Speaker 3: the day, it was a four week camp. And to
• 3:02
Speaker 3: your point, Holliss, like the majority of that was really
• 3:06
Speaker 3: conditioning running. Everything that you did had to do with
• 3:10
Speaker 3: some kind of running and all of that kind of stuff.
• 3:12
Speaker 3: And then you you on the sidebar, you learned your plays,
• 3:18
Speaker 3: terminologies and all those kinds of things.
• 3:21
Speaker 2: But man, the coaches.
• 3:23
Speaker 3: Really made you run as much as they could.
• 3:28
Speaker 2: And and again when I when I.
• 3:30
Speaker 3: Coached them at State, I know for a fact how
• 3:33
Speaker 3: challenging that was because I had already been through it,
• 3:37
Speaker 3: so I was going to give them exactly what I
• 3:39
Speaker 3: had had not not.
• 3:41
  Speaker 2: Really do that's a lot. It's just what I mean,
• 3:45
Speaker 2: I mean, the reality of it. It was really just
• 3:47
  Speaker 2: what it was.
• 3:48
Speaker 7: Yeah, that's the way you did it. That was like
• 3:49
Speaker 7: the old school kind.
• 3:50
  Speaker 6: Of physical endurance.
• 3:53
Speaker 7: You know, you you pushed your point to yourself to
• 3:56
Speaker 7: the point of exhaustion.
• 3:57
Speaker 3: Basically, no walking anywhere, No you know, if you take
• 4:01
Speaker 3: a break. The only time you're taking your helmet off
• 4:04
Speaker 3: back in those days was if you were.
• 4:07
Speaker 2: Gonna get a drink.
• 4:08
Speaker 6: And that was limited. Right, that was limited, like you
• 4:10
  Speaker 6: had strict water.
• 4:12
Speaker 2: Yes, that was very smart. No, it really was not.
• 4:16
  Speaker 3: But I'm I'm a I'm a creator of that. I
• 4:21
Speaker 3: was I would do that. I would be like, we're
• 4:23
Speaker 3: only getting water, Like you're not just gonna walk over
• 4:25
Speaker 3: and just go get you a drink of water.
• 4:27
Speaker 2: That didn't even make sense to me.
• 4:29
Speaker 7: That's that showed weakness, thirsty and respect, disrespect, dehydration, and
• 4:36
Speaker 7: disrespect that your hand in hand.
• 4:38
  Speaker 6: I guess, right, I guess.
• 4:39
Speaker 7: I mean, and you had heavy contact, right, I mean
• 4:42
Speaker 7: it was kind of the game.
• 4:43
Speaker 2: I mean most of the time. Yeah, it was.
• 4:44
Speaker 1: It was definitely some form of contact. It wasn't always
• 4:47
Speaker 1: you know, eleven all out contact. There was definitely contact
• 4:51
Speaker 1: in every practice. And that was going back to like high.
• 4:53
  Speaker 2: School, you know.
• 4:55
Speaker 3: And you had like you had like the different types
• 4:58
Speaker 3: of tackling drills, blocking drills, all of those kinds of
• 5:02
Speaker 3: things that they were they were live, I mean, you
• 5:08
Speaker 3: know what I'm saying. And you couldn't and if you
• 5:11
Speaker 3: were the kind of guy that wasn't really trying to
• 5:13
Speaker 3: go hard, you better have told the person on the
• 5:17
Speaker 3: other side, because on the other side of that that
• 5:20
Speaker 3: dude's thinking he's got to go hard because he what
• 5:22
Speaker 3: he's thinking that Hollis is gonna go hard.
• 5:24
Speaker 2: Yeah. Now, I mean now it's different.
• 5:25
Speaker 1: So now like they don't I think you can't really
• 5:29
Speaker 1: do two a day's there's limited on contact.
• 5:32
Speaker 2: They don't always practice full pads.
• 5:35
Speaker 1: So and I think now like there's much more of
• 5:38
Speaker 1: an emphasis on like learning your skill set, learning your playbook,
• 5:42
Speaker 1: and you're expected to come into to camp it tip
• 5:45
Speaker 1: top shape, you know from high school to college, so
• 5:49
Speaker 1: because you have such limited time, and it also have
• 5:51
Speaker 1: flex practices where they do seven on seven, so they
• 5:55
Speaker 1: have a lot more practice, but it's not his intensive
• 5:58
Speaker 1: maybe as what we did in those you know, three
• 6:01
Speaker 1: and a half weeks.
• 6:02
  Speaker 7: I think there's I think with the modern camps there's
• 6:04
Speaker 7: more of a focus on safety, hell and hydration. You
• 6:09
Speaker 7: have limited water. We're we're not going to be stingy
• 6:11
Speaker 7: with it. And and I think they even have like
• 6:14
Speaker 7: kind of integrated cryotherapy into some of them.
• 6:19
  Speaker 6: Type of camp.
• 6:20
Speaker 2: Definitely would depend on your resources. The NFL definitely, Yeah.
• 6:23
Speaker 7: And I don't know if you guys heard of this,
• 6:24
Speaker 7: do you know that some of them were GPS bests.
• 6:27
Speaker 2: Like the little Yeah.
• 6:28
Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, I didn't know that.
• 6:29
Speaker 1: I didn't get your heart rate and gets you different
• 6:32
  Speaker 1: vital tracture.
• 6:33
Speaker 7: Yeah, to make sure that you're not to the point
• 6:35
Speaker 7: of exhaustion, because we know, you know, the more fatigue
• 6:38
Speaker 7: that you experience, the more injury, you know, the more
• 6:40
  Speaker 7: injuries that possibly.
• 6:41
Speaker 3: Are you saying that's the team that goes through that process.
• 6:45
Speaker 6: I think I think it was the place, especially NFL right.
• 6:50
Speaker 1: That they were really popular a couple of years ago.
• 6:53
Speaker 1: But it's just like, you know, what I say about
• 6:55
Speaker 1: football now is like when we talk about the conditioning,
• 6:57
Speaker 1: when you talk about the safety features, it's much more
• 7:00
Speaker 1: of a science. Now they're getting them vitals and making
• 7:03
Speaker 1: sure that you know you're you're good inside and out.
• 7:07
  Speaker 2: Yeah.
• 7:08
Speaker 7: I tell you something else that I think is a
• 7:10
Speaker 7: little bit different too, And maybe you guys can let
• 7:12
Speaker 7: me know what you think. But I think now these
• 7:14
Speaker 7: these training camps have become more of like an open
• 7:17
Speaker 7: door type of you know, social media is there, the news, fans,
• 7:22
Speaker 7: you know, it becomes more of a like an event,
• 7:24
Speaker 7: like almost similar to like pregames or even a game.
• 7:29
Speaker 7: I mean it used to be weren't your practices kind
• 7:32
Speaker 7: of closed door and secretive during your camps.
• 7:35
Speaker 6: You didn't really want people there.
• 7:37
Speaker 3: Yes to me, like like even even back in high school,
• 7:41
Speaker 3: there was really like you didn't even have parents.
• 7:45
Speaker 6: You just didn't have people there.
• 7:46
Speaker 3: You just didn't have them because you did not want
• 7:50
Speaker 3: anybody to see what you're doing. And and and I
• 7:56
Speaker 3: hate to say this because I know that it's it's
• 7:59
Speaker 3: there was a lot of those things that were wrong.
• 8:03
Speaker 3: But if I were going to play, if I was
• 8:05
Speaker 3: going to start with football again, I would want to
• 8:08
Speaker 3: come through that process exactly the way that I came
• 8:13
Speaker 3: through what I just I just I just would No,
• 8:17
Speaker 3: I would want to come through this area and not
• 8:19
Speaker 3: not And I'll say this because there's number one, it's
• 8:21
  Speaker 3: just more information.
• 8:22
Speaker 1: So me being a quarterback, like it was like you know,
• 8:26
Speaker 1: you being able to have like all the game film
• 8:28
Speaker 1: on your phone, and it's much more.
• 8:31
Speaker 3: Well not so much that, not so much the technology,
• 8:34
Speaker 3: but the actual the actual physicality of how you played.
• 8:38
Speaker 3: Would you want to do it the way that you
• 8:41
Speaker 3: did it, the way that you were made to do it,
• 8:44
Speaker 3: or would you want to.
• 8:45
Speaker 1: I want to play in this era because I think
• 8:46
Speaker 1: it's much more to me. Like I said, I just
• 8:49
Speaker 1: think you just have more tools and resources. I mean, obviously,
• 8:52
Speaker 1: like if you're playing in that in the old school era,
• 8:57
Speaker 1: you have to be tougher.
• 8:58
Speaker 2: There's no doubt about it. And that's not a knock
• 9:00
  Speaker 2: to the guys.
• 9:00
Speaker 1: It's just a different game because of you know the
• 9:03
Speaker 1: rules and how you could hit and how you can
• 9:05
Speaker 1: get hit. But I like this era because there's just much,
• 9:08
Speaker 1: so much more information. And again that's me me predicated
• 9:12
Speaker 1: on me being a quarterback, right, So maybe if I
• 9:15
Speaker 1: was a defensive lineman or a running back it might
• 9:17
Speaker 1: be different, But because I played quarterback, I want the information.
• 9:20
Speaker 1: Guys have so much more information because even if you
• 9:23
Speaker 1: have a like you can find coaching not only within
• 9:27
Speaker 1: the context of the people you have around you, but
• 9:30
Speaker 1: you can search the web for anything you may be
• 9:34
Speaker 1: not as proficient in.
• 9:35
Speaker 7: Right, Right makes sense, I mean to me, I think
• 9:38
Speaker 7: it's just a smarter way to do. Camp is the
• 9:41
Speaker 7: way they do it now instead of doing you know
• 9:43
Speaker 7: you said three a days. I mean I was thinking,
• 9:45
Speaker 7: just most most programs are two a day's right.
• 9:47
Speaker 2: Or the time it was.
• 9:51
Speaker 3: Well they would come back and the special teams wasn't
• 9:55
Speaker 3: as drastic as as your offense and defense or you know,
• 10:00
Speaker 3: your first two practices right right, They just were trying
• 10:03
Speaker 3: to make sure they introduced you to special teams and
• 10:06
Speaker 3: those kinds of things, and a lot of people didn't
• 10:09
Speaker 3: even call them three A days. It was basically two
• 10:12
Speaker 3: A days with that maybe being part of it.
• 10:14
Speaker 1: Okay, yeah, I don't think we And I think that
• 10:16
Speaker 1: was kind of something that happened towards the end of camp,
• 10:19
Speaker 1: not necessarily yeah, possibly, yeah.
• 10:21
Speaker 7: When you're getting closer to this season beginning. And also
• 10:24
Speaker 7: I think the way that they do those you know,
• 10:26
Speaker 7: they do the one major practice plus walkthroughs, I think
• 10:29
Speaker 7: to me that that's easier on the body, especially at
• 10:32
Speaker 7: the NFL level. I mean, we all know, we see
• 10:35
Speaker 7: what happens every preseason. I mean, these guys usually are
• 10:38
Speaker 7: in tip top shape, and they still find ways to
• 10:41
Speaker 7: get hurt during the preseason, especially the guys that are
• 10:43
Speaker 7: trying to make the team, so you know, the least
• 10:46
  Speaker 7: amount of.
• 10:47
Speaker 1: But I will say, I mean I think there is
• 10:49
Speaker 1: something to be said for like just having that contact,
• 10:53
Speaker 1: like coach is saym because like if you're pounding, your
• 10:56
Speaker 1: body kind of gets used to it a little bit.
• 10:58
Speaker 1: So a lot of the you'll see these guys having
• 11:00
Speaker 1: these uh you know, just just like minor injuries, just
• 11:04
Speaker 1: being hurt a little bit, just because their body is
• 11:06
Speaker 1: not used to the to that contact. Because I mean,
• 11:09
Speaker 1: we're looking at it now and you know you got that.
• 11:11
Speaker 1: They're not even they don't even have pad you know
• 11:13
Speaker 1: what I'm saying. So it's just so I think it's like,
• 11:17
Speaker 1: you know, it's good and bad.
• 11:18
Speaker 6: And most of these.
• 11:19
Speaker 7: Teams don't they travel places like I know, the Giants
• 11:21
Speaker 7: weren't the Giants at the Greenbroo this last league. So
• 11:25
Speaker 7: most of these teams don't do their their camps at their.
• 11:28
Speaker 8: Home field, now do they. They kind of like baseball, Yeah, yeah,
• 11:31
Speaker 8: we we would go to Mankato State. Okay, you guys
• 11:35
Speaker 8: traveled to Yes, Minnesota, Yes, yeah we would.
• 11:39
  Speaker 2: We wouldn't. We wouldn't.
• 11:41
Speaker 3: We had a practice facility, then we had the dome.
• 11:44
Speaker 3: But we would go to Mankato for camp for the
• 11:49
Speaker 3: and I the only reasoning because you can't say fan
• 11:52
Speaker 3: base because if you man Cato State they had football,
• 11:56
Speaker 3: and all of a sudden, you're bringing Tommy Kramer and
• 11:59
Speaker 3: these kind of guys to campus, you know, because school's
• 12:03
  Speaker 3: not in yet.
• 12:04
Speaker 2: So the football teams.
• 12:06
Speaker 3: Their football team would be coming in as we are
• 12:10
Speaker 3: kind of wrapping it up. But there's people driving and
• 12:16
Speaker 3: packing the stands while we're practicing, so you weren't getting
• 12:20
Speaker 3: away from them, you were just getting away from a
• 12:22
  Speaker 3: different crowd.
• 12:23
  Speaker 2: I think it's smart, man.
• 12:24
Speaker 1: I think you know, I would love to see like
• 12:26
Speaker 1: and I would say this is for all sports like
• 12:28
Speaker 1: basketball and football. I would love to see preseason games
• 12:31
Speaker 1: being played in in states that don't have like you know,
• 12:36
Speaker 1: like I would love y'all would love to see like
• 12:38
Speaker 1: a like a preseason game like the Browns and the Steelers,
• 12:41
Speaker 1: like a w VU or Marshall, you know what I mean.
• 12:43
Speaker 1: I think it's smart because you end up having some
• 12:49
Speaker 1: kids who go down there and now they'll be Giants
• 12:50
Speaker 1: fans or they had the SATs down there. So I
• 12:53
Speaker 1: would love to see that, like I kind of get
• 12:55
Speaker 1: expanded where you not only have bits of your training
• 12:57
Speaker 1: camp other places, but actually play some preseason games. I'm
• 13:00
Speaker 1: not even sure they don't have four preseason games.
• 13:04
Speaker 8: I mean, yeah, preseason games three cut.
• 13:08
Speaker 2: Three or two? Yeah?
• 13:09
Speaker 3: Now yeah, and see I think if you had three two,
• 13:13
Speaker 3: I thought if you had if you had four three
• 13:15
Speaker 3: it makes three if you had four, Okay, it would
• 13:19
Speaker 3: make sense to be able to take three of those
• 13:23
Speaker 3: on the road to a place. And again, it's making
• 13:27
Speaker 3: money too. You know, it's an opportunity to make money.
• 13:30
Speaker 1: But you know it's not it's not as much money
• 13:32
Speaker 1: as you know, playing in the home stadium of that
• 13:34
Speaker 1: particular team, you know he's the owner. But it would
• 13:40
Speaker 1: be cool, it would be it would be cool, Like
• 13:42
Speaker 1: you know, I'm saying, like we had a game in
• 13:44
Speaker 1: Marshall Stadium or or Johan Edward Stadium in Mountain air Field.
• 13:48
Speaker 6: So yeah, that would be cool.
• 13:50
Speaker 7: All right, you guys want to walk you can kind
• 13:52
Speaker 7: of walk into this conversation from that one. So we're
• 13:55
Speaker 7: talking about training camp and players. Carl, you mentioned something
• 14:00
Speaker 7: in our text threat about former players shaping the rules
• 14:04
Speaker 7: and regulations of football.
• 14:06
  Speaker 3: I would like, I think, and I don't, and I
• 14:09
Speaker 3: know for a fact, I can't think of his name now.
• 14:13
Speaker 3: Brad Edwards is on he played with Minnesota. He I
• 14:18
Speaker 3: know is on one of the committees that do to
• 14:22
  Speaker 3: shaping and regulations.
• 14:24
Speaker 2: And all that kind of stuff.
• 14:26
Speaker 3: I really truly believe that when you start talking about
• 14:29
Speaker 3: the safety part of the game, when you start talking
• 14:31
Speaker 3: about rules and regulations. I think that room should be
• 14:37
Speaker 3: filled with players more than somebody that's in.
• 14:41
Speaker 6: A lusively player. I'm not going to say exclusively, but
• 14:46
Speaker 6: more players went on.
• 14:47
Speaker 3: More players, more players than not because wouldn't you want
• 14:51
Speaker 3: to ask, well, you know, we were thinking about changing
• 14:54
Speaker 3: this particular rule because we think, you know, this hit
• 14:57
Speaker 3: could this If you hit somebody thisarticular way, it could be,
• 15:02
Speaker 3: it could be it could be unsafe.
• 15:04
Speaker 2: You know, so we're trying to make sure that the
• 15:06
  Speaker 2: guys are safe.
• 15:08
Speaker 3: Why why are you not maybe going to the players
• 15:11
Speaker 3: to get that answer of whether or not that should be,
• 15:15
Speaker 3: that should be something.
• 15:16
  Speaker 2: That can change.
• 15:17
Speaker 6: Are they doing that?
• 15:18
  Speaker 9: I don't think.
• 15:19
  Speaker 2: I don't.
• 15:20
Speaker 1: I don't think the I think they have some input,
• 15:23
Speaker 1: but I don't think they have like obviously the NFLPA,
• 15:26
Speaker 1: but they're not exclusively right because.
• 15:29
  Speaker 2: I don't think that you should. I don't.
• 15:31
Speaker 3: I think the majority of the rules should basically be
• 15:37
Speaker 3: based on the players thought process of it, because I
• 15:43
Speaker 3: think that they they would know because we could sit
• 15:46
Speaker 3: in the room and we could talk about it and
• 15:48
Speaker 3: we could say, oh, yeah, look at this on this
• 15:50
Speaker 3: example on a on a film clip, right and we
• 15:53
Speaker 3: could make that change. Are we making a change that
• 15:58
Speaker 3: is realistic? Okay? How what would the players think? How
• 16:04
Speaker 3: do Why don't we ask the players and see what
• 16:07
Speaker 3: they're thinking? And if we want to do this, let's
• 16:11
Speaker 3: let's before we put it out there, let's talk to
• 16:13
Speaker 3: the players, a group of players.
• 16:16
  Speaker 1: I just think, I mean, I see what you're saying,
• 16:18
Speaker 1: and I think the players should have input. But I
• 16:20
Speaker 1: also think there's some implicit bias because obviously, if you're
• 16:23
Speaker 1: a defensive player, your your perspective is going to slant defense,
• 16:27
Speaker 1: if your offense your offen, the player's gonna slant offense.
• 16:31
Speaker 1: And I think sometimes but.
• 16:32
Speaker 3: If it's just safety, if it's just we're not talking
• 16:34
Speaker 3: I'm talking about safety issues on but if you're talking
• 16:36
Speaker 3: about safety issues again, I think sometimes players can just
• 16:39
Speaker 3: think about the execution of the game and they're not
• 16:42
Speaker 3: necessarily looking at like the bigger picture, right because I mean,
• 16:46
Speaker 3: even though like some of the rules around safety are
• 16:49
Speaker 3: asinine and it's hard and it make it slows the
• 16:52
Speaker 3: game down a little bit, but I think it's coming
• 16:55
Speaker 3: from a place of trying to be as safe as possible,
• 16:58
Speaker 3: to get it right and all so to not stunt
• 17:02
Speaker 3: the growth of the game, and I think players sometimes
• 17:05
Speaker 3: y'all don't necessarily think about it like that.
• 17:07
Speaker 1: You're thinking about You're thinking about more of like the
• 17:11
Speaker 1: purity of the game as opposed to like a bigger picture,
• 17:15
Speaker 1: like where what does.
• 17:16
Speaker 2: This look like in ten years? Are we going to
• 17:18
Speaker 2: have foot? You know what I mean?
• 17:19
Speaker 7: It's yeah, I want to go with car with Hollis
• 17:22
Speaker 7: on this because it could be a conflict of interest,
• 17:25
Speaker 7: right depending on the player's position and the team they
• 17:28
Speaker 7: played for, you know, And just like you just said
• 17:31
Speaker 7: talking about your past training camps, you did what you
• 17:35
Speaker 7: always did, that was what you felt like worked, and
• 17:38
Speaker 7: so you might protect those past habits, you know, according
• 17:42
Speaker 7: to the rules of the game for your own benefit,
• 17:45
Speaker 7: because that's the way it's always been done and that's
• 17:47
Speaker 7: the way it should be done.
• 17:49
Speaker 2: I would say when I went to State, and I
• 17:53
Speaker 2: can say this open to put.
• 17:55
Speaker 7: You in a corner or anything. No, I don't want
• 17:57
Speaker 7: to get fired tonight.
• 18:00
Speaker 2: I've got more reasons if I.
• 18:03
Speaker 3: One of the things that I would say if I
• 18:06
Speaker 3: were to go back, if I were getting another opportunity
• 18:09
Speaker 3: at Western Union State and I was starting over, would
• 18:12
Speaker 3: I change something specifically. The only thing that I would
• 18:18
Speaker 3: probably change would probably be the amount of contact that
• 18:23
Speaker 3: we actually did have.
• 18:26
Speaker 2: And the only reason is is because I really changed that.
• 18:29
Speaker 3: I would change that because I do know now you know,
• 18:32
Speaker 3: maybe even the hard way that you know, more contact isn't.
• 18:36
Speaker 2: Always good, but it wouldn't.
• 18:41
Speaker 3: I don't think I would change like some of the
• 18:44
Speaker 3: drills that are contact based, because the game is contact
• 18:51
Speaker 3: and you know, and Hollis, you know, there's some guys
• 18:54
Speaker 3: who just don't like contact, and you can and to
• 18:56
Speaker 3: play football and not like contact one, you're not probably
• 19:00
Speaker 3: going to be a starter. You're probably just going to
• 19:02
Speaker 3: be kind of a guy who's roaming around a little bit.
• 19:06
Speaker 3: And if you're good enough to be out on the field,
• 19:09
Speaker 3: and yet you still show the fear because you can
• 19:11
Speaker 3: see if somebody doesn't want to be they're afraid of
• 19:15
Speaker 3: being hit or afraid to hit. I mean, I think
• 19:20
Speaker 3: that the game has to consist it consistently has to
• 19:23
Speaker 3: be quote physical and.
• 19:27
Speaker 1: But but if you're on the rules making committee, how
• 19:30
Speaker 1: do you balance that with like safety?
• 19:33
Speaker 2: How do how do you balance?
• 19:35
Speaker 3: And I do and I do think that's hard and
• 19:37
Speaker 3: as a as a player, if I were to say,
• 19:40
Speaker 3: if you were to say, basically as you're saying, okay,
• 19:44
Speaker 3: what would you do to create a safer situation for
• 19:49
Speaker 3: let's just say tackling, Hm, okay, So everybody's going to say,
• 19:53
Speaker 3: well you keep your head up?
• 19:55
Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, can you keep your head up all the time?
• 20:00
Speaker 2: Will you keep your head up all the time?
• 20:02
  Speaker 4: No?
• 20:03
  Speaker 1: I mean, you're right. I mean, it's just it's impossible.
• 20:06
  Speaker 1: It's it's virtually impossible.
• 20:08
Speaker 3: So even even the implement implementation of the rules, the.
• 20:15
Speaker 2: Only thing that comes out of that is a flag.
• 20:21
  Speaker 2: I mean I see. I mean, like I said, it's
• 20:24
  Speaker 2: I'm not saying you're wrong.
• 20:27
Speaker 3: Hidden in the back all of those face masks, all
• 20:31
Speaker 3: those things that you know that everybody in the world
• 20:34
Speaker 3: knows is illegal, and it happens all the time.
• 20:38
Speaker 1: But I think it's one of them situations in which,
• 20:40
Speaker 1: again to me, it's almost like it's subjective first objective,
• 20:45
Speaker 1: and we're asking like referees to like balance these things
• 20:48
Speaker 1: against safety but also against how the game is supposed
• 20:52
Speaker 1: to be playing. So it's like it's you have this
• 20:55
Speaker 1: sort of weird dichotomy of like how do we like
• 20:59
Speaker 1: tip the skills to alence all these things. And to
• 21:01
Speaker 1: your point, you can't. So I think do we do?
• 21:05
Speaker 1: We say, are we gonna let like far as the
• 21:08
Speaker 1: safety sort of be the other way around? We're gonna
• 21:12
Speaker 1: let safety be a little bit more weighted. Are we
• 21:14
Speaker 1: gonna let sort of the purity and the sanctity of
• 21:17
Speaker 1: the game be more weight like?
• 21:18
Speaker 2: What do we do?
• 21:19
Speaker 1: And I think as a player, I think you guys
• 21:22
Speaker 1: have trouble with that part of it because you're always
• 21:24
Speaker 1: gonna tip the scales in sanctity of the game, keep
• 21:27
Speaker 1: it as pure as possible. Even do we know what
• 21:32
Speaker 1: the ramifications of you know, not being safe if we
• 21:35
Speaker 1: look at Ahmed Green.
• 21:37
Speaker 6: Right, Parkinson's Chris Johnson, just.
• 21:41
  Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying. I mean, it's a als,
• 21:43
  Speaker 3: It's it's this game.
• 21:45
Speaker 2: Is and and the bad.
• 21:51
Speaker 3: And again to your point, Hollis, I agree with you because.
• 21:59
Speaker 2: When you're a player, and when you have reached.
• 22:02
Speaker 3: Specially let's just say, if you reach the major college
• 22:06
Speaker 3: level with the opportunity to play on Sunday, when you
• 22:12
Speaker 3: get there on Sunday, and what you realize is is
• 22:17
Speaker 3: the physicality of the game and the importance of it.
• 22:21
Speaker 3: Of that physicality, you know, and to and and to
• 22:25
  Speaker 3: ask me not to be like that's that's a that's
• 22:31
Speaker 3: a that doesn't even make sense.
• 22:33
Speaker 2: Even because you can't go you can't go halfway to zero.
• 22:38
Speaker 3: Chances of you because if I'm running to tackle you,
• 22:42
Speaker 3: if I want to ease up, you can't do I
• 22:45
Speaker 3: can't because you're gonna You're gonna speed up. And if
• 22:49
Speaker 3: I'm trying to say, well, I'm not gonna hit him
• 22:50
Speaker 3: as hard as I really.
• 22:52
Speaker 2: Could now, but who who Who takes the blow? And
• 22:56
  Speaker 2: I don't know.
• 22:57
Speaker 1: I just think when we talk about safety not to
• 22:59
Speaker 1: go off the tangent. But I think that we have
• 23:02
Speaker 1: to have like and I would say this is for
• 23:05
Speaker 1: all sports, but particularly like football. We need significant investment
• 23:10
Speaker 1: from the league, from ownership, as far as like trying
• 23:14
Speaker 1: to figure out, you know, scientifically, like all those things
• 23:18
Speaker 1: around CT, all those things around Parkers and ail us,
• 23:21
Speaker 1: all these sort of neurological things that have happened, like
• 23:24
Speaker 1: to figure out to the best of our abilities, to
• 23:27
Speaker 1: make significant investments to say, hey, these are the signs
• 23:31
Speaker 1: and symptoms early or or these are the things we
• 23:33
Speaker 1: need to watch out for. These are things we could change,
• 23:36
Speaker 1: These are the things we can implement, so I think,
• 23:38
Speaker 1: you know, that's what I would like to see as
• 23:39
Speaker 1: far as in addition to go with sort of those
• 23:42
Speaker 1: those rules, because I think we kind of got to
• 23:44
Speaker 1: start there and then work our way backwards, but we
• 23:47
Speaker 1: need significant investment from these organizations.
• 23:50
Speaker 7: Yeah, I totally agree with that statement. And I also
• 23:52
Speaker 7: think that in your perspective, when you think about players
• 23:56
Speaker 7: and contributing to the regulations and rules of the game,
• 24:00
Speaker 7: you're probably gonna have two sides of the thinking. You're
• 24:05
Speaker 7: gonna have the people like Carl that believe in the
• 24:08
Speaker 7: old school hitting hard, and then you're also gonna have
• 24:12
Speaker 7: the people over here that maybe, like you just said,
• 24:14
Speaker 7: have been affected in some neurological way by the game,
• 24:17
Speaker 7: and they're gonna think, you know, we're gonna have to
• 24:19
Speaker 7: push for this long term type of game where people
• 24:23
Speaker 7: aren't getting hurt, aren't getting hit as hard because we're
• 24:26
Speaker 7: seeing the you know, the brain injuries, the neurological disorders
• 24:30
Speaker 7: that that are coming with these these players playing in
• 24:33
Speaker 7: the NFL for periods of time. So I think you've
• 24:36
Speaker 7: got when you think about the rules and regulations, you're
• 24:38
Speaker 7: gonna have these two camps kind of looking at each other.
• 24:41
Speaker 7: The ones that are affected and the ones that aren't.
• 24:44
Speaker 1: But I would also agree to cut you off, but
• 24:46
Speaker 1: I would also agreet it. I think most players, regardless
• 24:49
Speaker 1: of that sort of camp, they're not gonna be for
• 24:52
Speaker 1: things like adding games, things like playing overseas. To me,
• 24:58
Speaker 1: that's probably where you have most problems because the players,
• 25:01
Speaker 1: I think collectively would do things to inhibit revenue because
• 25:05
Speaker 1: you're not going to be nobody. No player wants to
• 25:07
Speaker 1: go to to to to Europe once or twice a year,
• 25:11
Speaker 1: or to play more games, or to do this or
• 25:14
  Speaker 1: to do that.
• 25:14
Speaker 2: So I think that's where you will probably run over
• 25:17
Speaker 2: the most players. Well, yeah, and I agree with that.
• 25:19
Speaker 3: And see, and this is why when I when you
• 25:22
Speaker 3: when you start talking about these people in the room,
• 25:26
Speaker 3: talking about less you know, you know, the contact, How
• 25:30
Speaker 3: do we how do we adjust the contact? Well, to
• 25:34
Speaker 3: your very very valid point, hollis, well, I'm not I'm
• 25:39
Speaker 3: okay with going overseas, but to play, you know, if
• 25:43
Speaker 3: that's where we got to go.
• 25:45
Speaker 2: But why are you adding games?
• 25:47
  Speaker 3: Yeah?
• 25:47
Speaker 2: We again, because there there is there is the money.
• 25:53
Speaker 3: There is the money, and I'm gonna and I don't
• 25:56
Speaker 3: say it as loud as I can possibly say it
• 25:58
Speaker 3: the money is ruling over the safety, you know, because.
• 26:04
Speaker 7: At the end of that in your day, I mean,
• 26:06
  Speaker 7: it's been that way forever. I mean they've they've they've
• 26:08
Speaker 7: changed some things in the favor of the players, in
• 26:10
Speaker 7: their safety, but overall, we know who who's you know,
• 26:14
Speaker 7: in charge, man, And if you let players have two
• 26:16
Speaker 7: big voice, players will be wanting them guaranteed contracts too.
• 26:19
Speaker 10: Yeah, it's one of those kind of as they should,
• 26:24
Speaker 10: as they should worker worker employee kind of issue that.
• 26:31
Speaker 3: That there's no there's no real equal side to take
• 26:37
Speaker 3: because again, the fan base, the owners, they they're okay
• 26:43
Speaker 3: with the they're okay with all the contact.
• 26:45
Speaker 2: They're okay because they don't mind adding another game.
• 26:48
Speaker 3: They don't mind you know, we can do it over time,
• 26:51
Speaker 3: this way and all that, anything to keep the revenue coming.
• 26:56
Speaker 2: And in most cases, the players, what do we do?
• 27:00
Speaker 2: Just play? Just play, and as long as we just play,
• 27:05
Speaker 2: we want to be good.
• 27:07
Speaker 3: So I'm gonna hit Hollis as hard as I possibly can,
• 27:10
Speaker 3: even if I even if we best buddies, I gotta
• 27:12
Speaker 3: hit him as hard as I possibly can because it's
• 27:15
  Speaker 3: the game.
• 27:17
Speaker 1: Yeah, man, I just think, like I don't know, just
• 27:19
Speaker 1: to that point. This is why I'm an advocate for
• 27:23
Speaker 1: like a minor league football season that's excuse me, a
• 27:26
Speaker 1: minor league football league that's directly tied to the NFL,
• 27:30
Speaker 1: because I think we need that. You have to, in
• 27:32
Speaker 1: my opinion, you have to have that because I think
• 27:34
Speaker 1: if you had a minor league system where you had
• 27:37
Speaker 1: like the usf UFL and it was tied to the
• 27:40
Speaker 1: NFL and you can actually send players to that that
• 27:42
Speaker 1: you think need some work, I don't think you need
• 27:45
Speaker 1: the evaluation period, So I don't I think you could
• 27:48
Speaker 1: probably cut preseason games to maybe two or one. You
• 27:51
Speaker 1: could keep the season at sixteen, and that way I
• 27:54
Speaker 1: can already evaluate you in this in this minor league
• 27:57
Speaker 1: and call you up, you know what I mean. So
• 28:00
Speaker 1: I think we have to have something like that in
• 28:03
Speaker 1: order to balance the scales. Because to that point, all
• 28:05
Speaker 1: does it, Yeah, baseball does.
• 28:07
Speaker 2: I mean, football is different.
• 28:08
Speaker 1: But but to your point, man, you think about playing
• 28:11
Speaker 1: I mean, because we're seventeen games now, and if you're
• 28:14
Speaker 1: a starter, you're probably going to play at least one
• 28:16
Speaker 1: or two preseason games. So that's nineteen games plus maybe
• 28:20
  Speaker 1: a playoff run. That's a lot of football. At a
• 28:24
  Speaker 1: high level.
• 28:26
  Speaker 2: A ton of plays. Yeah, it's a ton. And I
• 28:30
Speaker 2: always tell people when you talk about the NFL, I
• 28:32
Speaker 2: heard like Jake Paul, I don't know if y'all seen
• 28:34
Speaker 2: that on the pivot he's talking about.
• 28:36
Speaker 1: Yeah, football is not that hard. I could do it.
• 28:38
Speaker 1: I'm like, are you insane?
• 28:40
Speaker 2: Like they're watch that? You watch it? It's like a
• 28:43
Speaker 2: dudes that are like six seven d ns that run
• 28:48
Speaker 2: like a four to six yeah, and convent and can
• 28:51
Speaker 2: rep out four oh five. These dudes are super human dudes.
• 28:55
Speaker 1: You got offensive linemen who are carrying three point fifty
• 28:58
Speaker 1: three forty It can move and you and offense line
• 29:03
Speaker 1: three forty that's six' five and you cannot get around.
• 29:07
Speaker 1: Them do you understand what the type of athletes that
• 29:10
  Speaker 1: we were talking?
• 29:10
Speaker 2: About and and until.
• 29:12
Speaker 7: It never ceases to amaze, me these analysts they get
• 29:15
Speaker 7: on these podcasts and shows and then say it's easy
• 29:18
Speaker 7: to do any of this stuff as they sit in
• 29:19
Speaker 7: their comfy chair behind a.
• 29:21
Speaker 6: CAMERA i HAVE i have in front of a.
• 29:23
Speaker 3: CAMERA i am fortunate enough to have seen some like
• 29:28
Speaker 3: just unbelievable players who maybe has not have not gotten
• 29:34
Speaker 3: like a lot of public attention and all that kind of,
• 29:37
Speaker 3: stuff national. Attention but one particular player THAT i will
• 29:45
Speaker 3: speak to THAT i probably never said his name on
• 29:49
Speaker 3: this on this, Show Anthony Carter.
• 29:52
Speaker 2: Ac, YEAH i remember.
• 29:54
  Speaker 6: Him look.
• 29:56
Speaker 3: Probably probably about a hundred and seventy pounds seventy no
• 30:05
Speaker 3: more than seventy two or, three and could be even
• 30:09
  Speaker 3: maybe into sixty.
• 30:10
  Speaker 2: Something.
• 30:11
Speaker 3: Okay he Beat San, francisco he beat The, saints he
• 30:19
Speaker 3: beat every team that we played in the playoffs when
• 30:23
Speaker 3: we went to THE Nfc. Championship and he would get
• 30:28
Speaker 3: hit like people would like because the thought, process he's so,
• 30:32
  Speaker 3: small that's hit.
• 30:33
Speaker 2: Him intimidate, him get him out, there right out of the,
• 30:35
Speaker 2: game get him right out of the, game and get
• 30:37
Speaker 2: him out of the. Game could not do. It he
• 30:41
Speaker 2: would get up like he just he could take the.
• 30:44
Speaker 2: Hit he could take the. Hit i'm on the stop,
• 30:46
Speaker 2: Line i'm, like oh my, gosh is he gonna get?
• 30:49
Speaker 2: Up and he's up and running, back jogging back to the. Huddle.
• 30:53
Speaker 2: Wow back in that, day the.
• 30:56
Speaker 3: The the challenge was for the, defense put the, best
• 31:01
Speaker 3: put those best guys, out, okay and for the best
• 31:05
Speaker 3: guys you had to, SAY.
• 31:08
  Speaker 2: I DON'T i don't hurt.
• 31:10
Speaker 7: PLAYERS i mean, seriously because you're telling me to take them.
• 31:13
Speaker 2: Out hurt, them take them, out injure.
• 31:15
Speaker 6: Them, like knock them.
• 31:18
Speaker 8: Out nobody will say That stretcherville, Right, yes get.
• 31:23
  Speaker 2: Him on a.
• 31:23
Speaker 1: STRETCH i think with Bounty, gate we're definitely not ever
• 31:26
Speaker 1: going to. That you won't ever hear. Again, yeah. Nobody
• 31:30
Speaker 1: and and again it's it's it's bad for.
• 31:33
Speaker 3: It i'll say, this it's bad for a former player
• 31:35
Speaker 3: to to say to tell those kind of for me
• 31:38
Speaker 3: to tell those kinds of.
• 31:39
Speaker 2: Stories but the, reality but that's just the way it.
• 31:43
Speaker 3: Was and WHEN i WHEN i see it, TODAY i
• 31:46
Speaker 3: realized that it's not that you.
• 31:49
Speaker 2: Know and then then the question.
• 31:51
Speaker 3: Becomes, okay what would what would If Anthony carter did not,
• 31:56
Speaker 3: Know not that he, cared but if he, didn't if
• 31:59
Speaker 3: he knew he was going to get?
• 32:00
Speaker 2: Hit what how great would he?
• 32:03
  Speaker 8: Be?
• 32:03
Speaker 7: Now, yeah in a different era where we don't hurt webot.
• 32:11
Speaker 6: To behead the player or.
• 32:13
Speaker 3: WHATEVER i never had, never at any given time DID
• 32:18
Speaker 3: i ever think about worrying about.
• 32:20
  Speaker 2: Helmet the.
• 32:21
Speaker 6: Helmet, oh that wasn't a thing. THEN i.
• 32:24
Speaker 2: WASN'T i never thought just. Happened Sometimes i'm going to.
• 32:27
Speaker 1: Talk crazy that's how they taught us to hit. Though,
• 32:29
Speaker 1: yeah they taught us to leave with the. Crown you
• 32:31
Speaker 1: leave with, It and that was the dumbest thing. Ever,
• 32:33
Speaker 1: yeah we didn't think it was at the.
• 32:36
  Speaker 2: Time we.
• 32:36
Speaker 1: Didn't now we look back at, it we realized, LITERALLY
• 32:40
Speaker 1: i MEAN i remember being a little league and you,
• 32:41
Speaker 1: talk you were taught to right there and yet leave
• 32:44
  Speaker 1: with the.
• 32:44
  Speaker 2: Crown.
• 32:44
Speaker 7: Wow and then we wonder why we have all these
• 32:47
Speaker 7: neurological disorders coming out in these players as they get.
• 32:50
Speaker 7: OLDER i, MEAN i mean EVEN i guess modern, football
• 32:54
Speaker 7: it's it's way less than what you guys. Experienced but,
• 32:57
Speaker 7: STILL i mean all the, HITS i, mean we, know
• 33:00
  Speaker 7: it's just it's just.
• 33:01
Speaker 3: A game that you can't. Like if you if you're
• 33:04
Speaker 3: willing to play, it you can't help. Yourself you can't
• 33:08
Speaker 3: really protect yourself from from.
• 33:11
Speaker 2: The nature of the. Game, yeah because like, again your
• 33:14
Speaker 2: head's going to hit.
• 33:15
Speaker 1: Somewhere there's going to BE i, mean it may not
• 33:17
Speaker 1: be like a leading hit like you're leading with your,
• 33:19
Speaker 1: helmet or you may not get hit the helmet the,
• 33:20
Speaker 1: helmet but there's going to be time where that head
• 33:22
Speaker 1: is going to hit the turf.
• 33:23
Speaker 2: First so it's like it's going to.
• 33:27
Speaker 1: Happen but BUT i, say overall, AGAIN i think hopefully
• 33:30
Speaker 1: AND i pray hopefully that we'll see less of the
• 33:33
  Speaker 1: cognitive and neurological.
• 33:35
Speaker 2: Disease, however as we're.
• 33:37
Speaker 1: Seeing like in the training camps, now there's a lot
• 33:39
Speaker 1: of more soft tissue and joint issues because of, again
• 33:43
Speaker 1: guys just aren't you, know they don't have their muscles
• 33:46
Speaker 1: and joints are not callous like they, were and they
• 33:49
Speaker 1: probably you, know training them a little too much, now
• 33:53
Speaker 1: so you know it's a give and.
• 33:54
  Speaker 2: Take.
• 33:56
Speaker 3: Hu, well, okay so what just to close just the
• 34:01
Speaker 3: just the actually close this this subject. Out i'm interested
• 34:08
Speaker 3: in in each one of your. Takes if you if
• 34:12
Speaker 3: you had, to if you had to pick today's games
• 34:17
Speaker 3: versus old school games to watch in spite of all
• 34:23
Speaker 3: the damages that come with, it which would you? WATCH
• 34:26
  Speaker 3: i mean it would that's that's, Hard BUT i would
• 34:31
Speaker 3: probably say old school games were just, again it was
• 34:34
Speaker 3: a little it was exciting to, watch you know WHAT i.
• 34:36
Speaker 3: MEAN i mean because obviously you, know in spite of
• 34:38
Speaker 3: everything we just, said like the hits and all those
• 34:40
Speaker 3: sort of, things like it was like a, whoweh you,
• 34:44
Speaker 3: know SO i will probably go old school just because
• 34:47
Speaker 3: of you, KNOW i think from A tv, perspective it
• 34:51
Speaker 3: was just fun to.
• 34:52
Speaker 7: Watch i'm going to say today's football, GAME i THINK
• 34:56
Speaker 7: i think the new, school so to, speak BECAUSE i
• 34:59
Speaker 7: like what's happened with the, quarterback the development of the.
• 35:01
Speaker 7: Quarterbacks it used to be the you, know drop back
• 35:03
Speaker 7: and past guy was the one that dominated all the.
• 35:06
Speaker 6: Games these guys can, move they can.
• 35:07
Speaker 7: Run so the quarterback play is what gets me for today's.
• 35:13
Speaker 3: Games so just just just solely based when the quarterback
• 35:17
Speaker 3: makes you, Say, JORDAN i want.
• 35:19
Speaker 6: To jordan Love Green. Bay i'm just.
• 35:21
Speaker 10: SORRY i was trying to out talk you.
• 35:25
Speaker 3: Over so because of the play of the, quarterback that's
• 35:31
Speaker 3: enough for you to pick today's.
• 35:34
Speaker 2: GAME i think it was.
• 35:35
Speaker 6: More defensive back, then right.
• 35:37
Speaker 2: TOO i thought to me back in it was more running.
• 35:41
Speaker 6: Back, centric right, Right it.
• 35:44
Speaker 1: Was it was much more running back. Central the running
• 35:47
Speaker 1: back was kind of the main character on a lot of,
• 35:49
  Speaker 1: teams and.
• 35:49
Speaker 2: It was it. Was it.
• 35:50
Speaker 3: Was there were only a few quarterbacks that you even
• 35:53
Speaker 3: talked about that would scramble and, run you, know and you.
• 35:57
Speaker 1: Know it, WOULD i mean it was virtually and you
• 36:00
Speaker 1: had l way you had. Come, No i'm talking about.
• 36:02
Speaker 1: Further i'm talking about further further back with fran. Targeting you, know, yeah.
• 36:07
Speaker 7: All of the quarterbacks, evolved it's completely.
• 36:09
Speaker 3: Different BUT i also think sometimes that that can not
• 36:14
Speaker 3: that it can be, boring BUT i think sometimes if
• 36:16
Speaker 3: we're just you, know if the quarterback is just running
• 36:19
Speaker 3: around and it's kind of like you really can't get,
• 36:22
  Speaker 3: hit it's JUST i, THINK i, See I'm i'm tripping
• 36:27
  Speaker 3: because you're saying that because you're being a. QUARTERBACK i
• 36:30
Speaker 3: would think that that would be the least.
• 36:33
  Speaker 1: Well it's to What i'm saying is like it's it's
• 36:35
Speaker 1: almost two quarterback centric right where like if you don't
• 36:39
Speaker 1: if you absolutely don't have that, guy it's like it's
• 36:42
Speaker 1: impossible to. Win think about, like you, know the eighty Five,
• 36:45
Speaker 1: bears who some would demons like the best team of all.
• 36:47
Speaker 1: Time some people will say that, right they won With Jimmy,
• 36:51
Speaker 1: mahn he wasn't necessarily like the greatest. Quarterback and think
• 36:55
Speaker 1: about somebody Like Damn, Marino Jim, kelly who some would
• 36:59
Speaker 1: pit some of the great quarterbacks, ever who couldn't get
• 37:01
Speaker 1: over the, hump you know WHAT i Mean Troy aikman
• 37:04
Speaker 1: again a very very good Quarterback hall Of, famer BUT
• 37:06
Speaker 1: i don't think he's like in that all time great.
• 37:09
Speaker 1: Class but he was able to win because he had
• 37:12
Speaker 1: all these dynamic pieces around. Him so you, know it
• 37:15
Speaker 1: pits a lot on the quarterback now where it's just
• 37:18
Speaker 1: like AND i think some teams are just like they're
• 37:23
Speaker 1: too lenient on that and they don't build the team around.
• 37:26
Speaker 1: THEM i think if we're looking at like The, seahawks
• 37:28
Speaker 1: The seahawks have built a team around Sam donold while
• 37:31
Speaker 1: they can. Win we Look Patrick.
• 37:34
Speaker 3: Mahomes if he had a better, team he probably would
• 37:37
Speaker 3: have seven championship rings right.
• 37:39
  Speaker 2: Now think about.
• 37:40
Speaker 1: That he went to A Super bowl with just maybe
• 37:43
Speaker 1: one of the worst offensive line, ever not having a
• 37:46
Speaker 1: running back because they were it was all dependent on, him,
• 37:49
Speaker 1: Right and he's that talented where he could take you
• 37:52
Speaker 1: to all them Super bowls in conference. Championships but if
• 37:56
Speaker 1: it was more team, centric he probably. WOULD i, MEAN
• 37:59
Speaker 1: i think we would probably crown him. Now he's the greatest.
• 38:01
Speaker 7: Effort what would you, Watch, CARL i.
• 38:08
Speaker 6: Know what you would. Watch we don't even have to ask.
• 38:11
  Speaker 3: You I'm I'm i'm comfortable in the old. School i'm
• 38:16
Speaker 3: comfortable in old school, play, Right and part of it
• 38:22
Speaker 3: is BECAUSE i was at the tail end of, it
• 38:25
Speaker 3: and you, know it was it was you, know you,
• 38:29
Speaker 3: know you, know my dad's mentality was, like it's a man's, game.
• 38:35
Speaker 2: Okay and so when you're when you, were.
• 38:39
Speaker 3: And when you say, man, YOU'RE i mean that means
• 38:44
Speaker 3: you you got to show up like you can't just
• 38:47
Speaker 3: be out there and think like Ocause i'm out here,
• 38:50
Speaker 3: playing that Means I'm i'm one of the. Men, No,
• 38:54
Speaker 3: no for you to be out, there you gotta go
• 38:57
Speaker 3: and do something that is, noticeable, memorable, memorable and maybe
• 39:06
Speaker 3: even a little bit, hurtful you.
• 39:08
Speaker 6: Know the injuries AGAINSH.
• 39:13
  Speaker 9: I, MEAN.
• 39:15
Speaker 3: I JUST i had NEVER i never had ever ever
• 39:21
Speaker 3: went out to play a game with the intent to hurt.
• 39:26
Speaker 3: Somebody but you just, said but WHAT i WHAT i did,
• 39:33
Speaker 3: do WHAT i did know and WHAT i was willing to,
• 39:36
Speaker 3: do was IF i knew that you were really, good
• 39:40
Speaker 3: IF i Knew hollis was really, good and and and
• 39:43
  Speaker 3: he's you, know when he's a quarterback and he's he's
• 39:46
Speaker 3: gonna run and he's running my.
• 39:49
Speaker 2: Side oh, Okay i'm going to let me take a.
• 39:53
Speaker 3: Shot you, know let me make sure he doesn't throw
• 39:56
  Speaker 3: another touchdown.
• 39:57
  Speaker 2: Pass you.
• 39:57
Speaker 3: Know it was just that was just it was embedded
• 40:01
Speaker 3: in you to when you get that opportunity that you
• 40:06
Speaker 3: you do whatever is.
• 40:08
Speaker 6: Possible to make them.
• 40:10
  Speaker 2: Think twice running.
• 40:11
Speaker 3: Again or you should never run a slant on on
• 40:15
Speaker 3: On Joey browner as a, safety you should never run
• 40:19
Speaker 3: it because he's gonna he's gonna literally just knock your
• 40:22
Speaker 3: head off and you may not get back. Up AND
• 40:24
Speaker 3: i think that's part of the game that's kind of.
• 40:26
  Speaker 3: MISSING i wouldn't, SAY i mean because as a. Quarterback
• 40:30
  Speaker 3: as a, QUARTERBACK i KNEW i couldn't leave you hanging
• 40:32
Speaker 3: over the. MIDDLE i had to be careful on HOW
• 40:35
Speaker 3: i do this. Everything If i'm throwing in the, middle
• 40:37
Speaker 3: it had to be low and let you protect. Yourself
• 40:41
Speaker 3: so now there's no fear you're not you, KNOW i
• 40:44
Speaker 3: remember watching a play and you gotta look this. Up
• 40:47
Speaker 3: this is the greatest Catch i've ever seen a wide
• 40:50
Speaker 3: receiver Made Chris carter when he.
• 40:52
  Speaker 2: Played for The.
• 40:52
Speaker 1: Vikings he ran a dig so it's probably like a
• 40:55
Speaker 1: ten to twelve years that's the.
• 40:56
Speaker 2: End, route the en.
• 40:57
Speaker 1: Route the ball was, high it was a little, boy
• 41:00
Speaker 1: so he had to take a little bit of. Jump
• 41:02
Speaker 1: he put his hands in the. Air he looked at
• 41:05
Speaker 1: it as it's coming out of the quarterback's hands and
• 41:08
Speaker 1: then his. Hand then his head turned so he's looking
• 41:12
Speaker 1: at the defender coming at, him hands still.
• 41:15
Speaker 3: Up he makes the catch and was able to protect.
• 41:17
Speaker 3: Hisself you're talking about elite. Skill i'm talking about.
• 41:20
  Speaker 2: It it's a little.
• 41:21
Speaker 1: Thing and if you're a football, guy you know What
• 41:23
Speaker 1: i'm talking. ABOUT i, mean didn't look at the ball
• 41:26
Speaker 1: as it was coming into his, hands.
• 41:27
Speaker 6: Just saw a good peripheral, vision.
• 41:29
Speaker 2: You, think nor his head was.
• 41:32
Speaker 6: Turned i'm talking about he.
• 41:35
Speaker 3: Knew the ball was gonna get. There he, knew, yeah,
• 41:37
Speaker 3: yeah he was in With if you ever see this,
• 41:40
Speaker 3: play eyes was just LIKE i.
• 41:42
Speaker 1: COULDN'T i was just, like, man this is probably one
• 41:43
Speaker 1: of the greatest catches that nobody would ever even. Acknowledge
• 41:47
Speaker 1: but his head was Complete it wasn't like his eyes were. Peeking,
• 41:50
  Speaker 1: no his head.
• 41:50
Speaker 6: Was completely turned and he's doing.
• 41:53
Speaker 3: This so it's like those little nuances when we talk
• 41:57
Speaker 3: about skill set it you have to develop a skill
• 42:01
Speaker 3: set around fear because if you're coming across that middle
• 42:05
Speaker 3: and Ray lewis is coming down the micro or a
• 42:08
  Speaker 3: singletary or.
• 42:09
Speaker 2: Whoever you need to move, Fast steve At, Water, Uh Ronnie,
• 42:13
Speaker 2: lott that's a fear coming down. There he didn't even.
• 42:18
Speaker 2: YOU i was waiting to give you a little panel
• 42:22
  Speaker 2: to do, so.
• 42:23
Speaker 6: Producer which come on, now break the. Tie they both
• 42:26
Speaker 6: are old. School i'm new. School what what what's your
• 42:28
  Speaker 6: what's your? Take?
• 42:33
Speaker 2: Girl this is. Tough this is.
• 42:36
Speaker 9: Tough you know, what When hollis was stalking there a minute,
• 42:39
Speaker 9: ago what it was making me think of was the
• 42:42
Speaker 9: the there's like a parallel change between football and where
• 42:47
Speaker 9: basketball is right now. Too you, know it used to
• 42:50
Speaker 9: be a much more physical. Game now it's all about
• 42:53
Speaker 9: three point shooters and stuff like. THAT i, meant good
• 42:56
Speaker 9: point when beyond, it who's like nine feet tall that
• 42:59
  Speaker 9: can shoot the?
• 43:00
Speaker 2: Pointers this is this is.
• 43:03
Speaker 4: Tough but the thing.
• 43:05
Speaker 6: THAT i played The jeopardy, music the thing THAT i miss.
• 43:08
Speaker 9: About the old school football IS i feel like the
• 43:15
Speaker 9: tight end and your running backs had a lot more to.
• 43:20
Speaker 9: Do they might they might have the ball thrown at,
• 43:24
Speaker 9: him but they're also going to run and they're gonna,
• 43:26
Speaker 9: Block they're gonna LIKE i don't feel like all. THAT
• 43:28
Speaker 9: i don't feel like some of those positions are as
• 43:30
  Speaker 9: important to.
• 43:31
Speaker 2: ME i, mean does.
• 43:31
Speaker 9: Anybody even feel a fullback?
• 43:33
Speaker 2: Anymore is that even a? POSITION i?
• 43:34
Speaker 1: THINK i think what they, said like, one maybe two
• 43:37
Speaker 1: teams have a full back now like?
• 43:39
Speaker 2: That THAT'S i might be with the. Guys, goodness you're all.
• 43:45
Speaker 6: Sorr i'm firing people tonight AND i didn't even.
• 43:48
Speaker 1: Think about the full. BACK i mean That's i'm definitely.
• 43:51
Speaker 1: WITH i want to bring Full.
• 43:53

• 45:43
Speaker 7: And all of it was because you, know there's a
• 45:45
  Speaker 7: w N, b a collective bargaining rule that strictly forbids
• 45:49
Speaker 7: players from directly or indirectly wagering on any league.
• 45:53
  Speaker 6: Competition so the.
• 45:55
Speaker 7: Debate, was was it really a wager and gambling or
• 45:59
Speaker 7: what is it just playful.
• 46:01
Speaker 6: JOKING i think it.
• 46:03
Speaker 2: Was it was, playful but it was. Real, okay you
• 46:08
Speaker 2: were you're you're having me And hollis betting on. Something.
• 46:12
Speaker 3: Right it might be fun because we're we're used to,
• 46:16
Speaker 3: it but the, bet the betting piece of it is
• 46:22
  Speaker 3: the rule.
• 46:22
Speaker 2: And regulations that we shouldn't be.
• 46:24
Speaker 3: Doing but we've tried to dismiss it as fun because
• 46:29
Speaker 3: we both got the money and you, know we're gonna
• 46:32
Speaker 3: just have that on, camera on, Camera SO I i
• 46:38
Speaker 3: THINK i think it WAS i think it was. REAL
• 46:42
Speaker 3: i think it was just a situation where they just
• 46:44
  Speaker 3: did not.
• 46:45
Speaker 1: Care she just didn't. CARE i agree with your. Coach
• 46:51
Speaker 1: it was definitely it was, fun, playful but it was
• 46:53
Speaker 1: kind of real. Too But i'm all for it better.
• 46:55
Speaker 1: WAY i don't care because again sportsly have decided they're
• 47:00
  Speaker 1: in bed with.
• 47:01
Speaker 2: Gambling and he's not.
• 47:05
Speaker 1: Changing this is the this is the nature of what we're.
• 47:07
Speaker 1: Doing this is what this is who we. Are we
• 47:13
Speaker 1: GOT espn had a sports book there been with draft
• 47:16
Speaker 1: kings and fan duels and and roadblocks and it goes
• 47:20
Speaker 1: on and on and.
• 47:20
Speaker 2: On this is what we. Are this is the coaching
• 47:22
  Speaker 2: that we.
• 47:22
Speaker 1: In you're getting a ton of revenue from these uh gaming.
• 47:28
Speaker 2: And prediction markets and all this other. Crap so bet
• 47:31
Speaker 2: away have fun with.
• 47:32
Speaker 7: It, well the league must have kind of seen it
• 47:34
Speaker 7: the way that that you know that you, do because
• 47:38
Speaker 7: there was no discipline taken against either.
• 47:40
Speaker 6: Player there were no finds or.
• 47:42
Speaker 7: Suspensions of, course you know they were top players. Players,
• 47:47
Speaker 7: yeah but you, KNOW i THINK i think the problem
• 47:50
Speaker 7: with all this is it's kind of a double. Standard, okay,
• 47:53
Speaker 7: sure because we're, letting you, know the. Players you, know
• 47:57
Speaker 7: you look at THE nba and and they're so, strict you,
• 48:01
Speaker 7: know with their you, know any kind of association with
• 48:04
  Speaker 7: gambling with their.
• 48:05
  Speaker 6: Players they're very.
• 48:06
Speaker 7: You, know they treat it very. Seriously those players are
• 48:09
Speaker 7: suspended or what what have you? Find and these two
• 48:13
  Speaker 7: young ladies who play for the w N b a
• 48:15
Speaker 7: walk away without even a.
• 48:17
Speaker 1: HANDSLAP i, say as long as you're betting on yourself
• 48:21
Speaker 1: to win or your team to, win you're not doing
• 48:23
Speaker 1: any prop. Bets long As i'm betting on my team to.
• 48:26
  Speaker 1: Win better, Way.
• 48:30
Speaker 7: But then you're opening up a whole, door a camp
• 48:33
Speaker 7: of worms that you can't go.
• 48:35
Speaker 2: Back, from, Right And i'm opening them, up And i'm
• 48:40
Speaker 2: opening them up And i'm pouring it out AND i.
• 48:42
Speaker 3: Believe and here's the thing that WHY i, believe why
• 48:47
Speaker 3: the reason why he buys into that is is because
• 48:51
Speaker 3: the league is taking tons and tons and tons of
• 48:54
  Speaker 3: money from gambling.
• 48:56
Speaker 2: Resources they have, commercials they have all kind of.
• 48:59
Speaker 6: Stuff set of rules for THE nba and another for
• 49:02
  Speaker 6: the w n B. A that's What i'm.
• 49:03
Speaker 2: SAYING i think they deemed. It it's playing Playing.
• 49:05
Speaker 7: Yeah, STILL i, mean if you're if you're gonna let them,
• 49:09
Speaker 7: said you, know say we were just, joking because THE
• 49:12
Speaker 7: nba player should be able to say.
• 49:13
Speaker 2: That if that was And, lebron it would be.
• 49:15
Speaker 11: Scandal but my, problem my issue, though is why do
• 49:22
Speaker 11: you Have why are your sponsors gambling? Places if you're
• 49:28
Speaker 11: taking if you're taking their money as and you're you're
• 49:31
Speaker 11: advertising for them between the, show between the, game and
• 49:37
  Speaker 11: yet you're telling ME i CAN'T i can't.
• 49:41
Speaker 1: Gamble you're taking the gambler's. Money how does that? WORK i,
• 49:46
  Speaker 1: mean that's that's definitely an. Issue BUT i JUST i
• 49:49
Speaker 1: just to me to your point, LEAST i don't know
• 49:53
  Speaker 1: how you because.
• 49:54
Speaker 2: AGAIN i think this was. PLAYFUL i think it.
• 49:57
Speaker 1: WAS i just DON'T i don't know how you got on.
• 49:59
  Speaker 1: CAMERA i don't know how you punish. IT i don't
• 50:02
Speaker 1: know how you punish it in the.
• 50:03
Speaker 6: Row what you just.
• 50:03
Speaker 7: Said when you look at THE, nba if we had
• 50:06
Speaker 7: two superstar players in THE nba doing the same, thing
• 50:08
Speaker 7: getting caught on film making a bet like, that they
• 50:11
Speaker 7: would be punished in.
• 50:12
Speaker 2: Someone it would be. Fine it would be talked about
• 50:14
Speaker 2: a lot more of. That it would be seen. Different
• 50:16
Speaker 2: it would, yes it would be the, same that's.
• 50:19
Speaker 1: True but let me ask you, this do you THINK i, mean,
• 50:21
Speaker 1: again four hundred dollars is a, nice you, know amount of.
• 50:24
Speaker 1: Money but let's say they were. Betting let's say they
• 50:27
Speaker 1: they said like ten. Thousand do you think because of
• 50:30
Speaker 1: the amount was so low that it was, like, okay
• 50:32
Speaker 1: they were just. Joking but If andrew was, like, all
• 50:34
Speaker 1: LET'S i got ten, thousand do you think that the
• 50:36
Speaker 1: mount changes the perception of?
• 50:38
Speaker 6: IT i mean it.
• 50:38
  Speaker 7: Could, HAVE i mean, POSSIBLY i mean that's a that's
• 50:41
Speaker 7: a really good. POINT i didn't think about it if
• 50:43
Speaker 7: the you, know the wager was. Higher but STILL i
• 50:46
Speaker 7: don't care if it's a. Penny the rule is the,
• 50:48
Speaker 7: concept and it's the.
• 50:49
Speaker 3: RULE i, mean and it was The All Star game,
• 50:51
Speaker 3: too so it wasn't like A so do you think
• 50:54
Speaker 3: like the amount and the fact that it was The
• 50:57
Speaker 3: All Star game kind of changed we TAKE i.
• 51:00
Speaker 6: Think it's BECAUSE i think it's What carl.
• 51:01
Speaker 7: SAID i think it's because it's two superstars in the
• 51:04
Speaker 7: league and they don't want to have to do anything
• 51:06
Speaker 7: that might damage their their, look their their.
• 51:08
  Speaker 3: Stars so let's just say let's let's just say we're
• 51:11
Speaker 3: we're all in The Pro, bowl, Right we're all in
• 51:13
  Speaker 3: The Pro.
• 51:14
Speaker 2: Bowl you're the starting, Quarterback.
• 51:17
  Speaker 6: I'm a.
• 51:18
Speaker 2: Receiver, okay that you're gonna be throwing.
• 51:20
Speaker 3: Too lisa is THE dB on the other side of
• 51:24
Speaker 3: THE dB on the other. Side what if me and
• 51:27
Speaker 3: her are? Betting because what does that look like for?
• 51:31
Speaker 2: You but what are you? Betting? Though if you have
• 51:33
Speaker 2: the context to that you know we're gonna.
• 51:36
Speaker 3: Win let's Say i'm going TO i might be betting
• 51:38
Speaker 3: than the number of the lack of number of catches
• 51:41
  Speaker 3: THAT i.
• 51:41
  Speaker 1: Have BUT i think that's different that that's that's different
• 51:45
Speaker 1: a little. Bit BUT i also say it's The All Star.
• 51:46
  Speaker 1: Game SO i don't think they. CARE i don't think
• 51:49
  Speaker 1: the league.
• 51:50
  Speaker 7: REALLY i think the W n B a knew something
• 51:52
Speaker 7: was wrong for them to take the videos down as
• 51:54
  Speaker 7: quickly as they.
• 51:54
Speaker 6: Did that kind Of let me ask you.
• 51:58
Speaker 9: This so you know around, football around The Super bowl, time,
• 52:02
Speaker 9: bars different workplaces will put together grid and you'll bet
• 52:07
Speaker 9: on who the winner is of The Super bowl and
• 52:09
Speaker 9: everybody will put in twenty dollars or whatever and you'll
• 52:12
Speaker 9: have a couple of thousand dollars pot and whoever wins
• 52:16
Speaker 9: gets that. Money is that any different doing that just
• 52:19
Speaker 9: you know in house between people versus going on to
• 52:23
Speaker 9: BET mgm or one of these online. Things are those to?
• 52:27
Speaker 9: Say because to, me WHEN i think of this four
• 52:30
Speaker 9: hundred dollars bet versus going on in app prop bet
• 52:33
Speaker 9: stuff like, THAT i think they're two different.
• 52:35
Speaker 1: THINGS i would agree with, THAT i, See BUT i
• 52:38
Speaker 1: also think the players are playing in the, game so
• 52:42
Speaker 1: with the average fan is not playing, outcome.
• 52:46
Speaker 3: SEE i WOULD i don't care how Much hollis bets
• 52:49
Speaker 3: Against if we're on the same team and he's betting
• 52:53
Speaker 3: at least bet they're betting on.
• 52:56
Speaker 2: Opposite, Teams how CAN i be happy with? That? Like
• 53:01
Speaker 2: what are you? Doing?
• 53:02
Speaker 3: Bro like what you can't you can't be betting whether against,
• 53:06
Speaker 3: us for us or. Whatever you ain't supposed to be.
• 53:08
Speaker 3: BETTING i, mean that's the hard line. RULE i, mean you're,
• 53:11
Speaker 3: right BUT i just THINK i think there IS i, mean,
• 53:14
Speaker 3: again when we look at this particular, SITUATION i think
• 53:19
Speaker 3: this is unique because of the amount in The All Star.
• 53:21
Speaker 3: Game But i'm saying putting that, aside and let's say
• 53:25
Speaker 3: this was just a Regular, wait, man what are you
• 53:26
Speaker 3: putting the side we're putting the fact that it was
• 53:29
  Speaker 3: An All star?
• 53:29
Speaker 2: Game, okay we'll just put.
• 53:30
Speaker 7: That side betting on the outcome of an upcoming game
• 53:34
  Speaker 7: between their two.
• 53:35
Speaker 2: Teams so they weren't just, better that's WHAT i.
• 53:38
Speaker 7: THOUGHT i THINK i just read that only they were
• 53:40
Speaker 7: playfully wag dam four hundred dollars on the outcome of
• 53:43
Speaker 7: an Upcoming Atlanta Dream Dallas wings.
• 53:45
Speaker 1: Matchup so, okay so they're not betting on The All Star.
• 53:48
Speaker 1: Game they're betting on a regulation.
• 53:51
Speaker 2: They had coming. Up, yes so that's. Different it's it's
• 53:55
  Speaker 2: a little it's. Different BUT i also BUT i also,
• 53:58
Speaker 2: say you got the same. Problem it's just to, ME
• 54:01
  Speaker 2: i just it's.
• 54:03
Speaker 1: Different so MAYBE i would saying that in that, case
• 54:06
Speaker 1: the league maybe should have handled that a little. Differently find.
• 54:09
Speaker 1: Them but to your, point, yeah that's actually a good.
• 54:13
Speaker 1: Idea but but to your, POINT i think they probably
• 54:16
Speaker 1: didn't want to do that because they don't want to
• 54:18
Speaker 1: make a deal out of.
• 54:19
Speaker 2: It they just kind of wanted to go. Away.
• 54:21
Speaker 1: Right but even with that being, said WHICH i think
• 54:24
Speaker 1: is a smart move by the, league but it's just also, hard,
• 54:26
Speaker 1: man because we're in bed with all, this and it's
• 54:29
Speaker 1: just it's just hard to tell ME i can't do
• 54:32
Speaker 1: something that we're all benefiting off.
• 54:34
Speaker 9: Of Didn't Michael jordan win In mercedes one time making
• 54:37
Speaker 9: a bet against somebody else in the.
• 54:39
Speaker 1: League his wagering stories are. Legendary so, yeah he had
• 54:46
Speaker 1: a lot they. Was he had a regularly better fan
• 54:50
Speaker 1: just at they were like golfing prior to a. Game
• 54:54
Speaker 1: allegedly that's why he played. Baseball but that's a different.
• 54:58
Speaker 2: Alleged so Did Tiger.
• 55:00
Speaker 6: WOODS i believe right he liked to. Gamble BUT i just.
• 55:02
  Speaker 2: DON'T i. DON'T i, mean you, know it's it's kind
• 55:05
Speaker 2: of do AS i, say not AS i do type of.
• 55:08
  Speaker 2: Deal SO i. DON'T i don't, know. Man, see and.
• 55:13
Speaker 3: You have these types of situations and then you have
• 55:16
Speaker 3: like issues surrounding players who do other, things whatever those
• 55:21
Speaker 3: other things might, be and you're you're you're locked down
• 55:26
Speaker 3: on it's you were told that you weren't supposed to do,
• 55:29
Speaker 3: That so consequences are this and you're.
• 55:32
Speaker 2: Done and then here's something.
• 55:34
Speaker 3: That you you are you really locked in on this
• 55:40
Speaker 3: no gambling or are you just saying, well because it's
• 55:42
  Speaker 3: a small, amount it don't.
• 55:44
  Speaker 2: COUNT i, MEAN i can't, that, LIKE i really, LIKE
• 55:49
Speaker 2: i have no argument to. THAT i think you're. Right
• 55:51
Speaker 2: but at the same, TIME i would just counter by just, saying, look,
• 55:54
Speaker 2: man we're all in bed with, this SO i, mean
• 55:58
Speaker 2: we we this is the. Life We it's like mama
• 56:01
Speaker 2: telling you not to smoke when she's smoking a pack of.
• 56:03
Speaker 3: Day it's kind of hard for her to get, yeah
• 56:05
Speaker 3: don't smoke cigarettes when she's smoking a pack of eight
• 56:08
Speaker 3: and hot boxing you in the car and everything, else you.
• 56:11
Speaker 2: Know WHAT i, mean going to school smell like. Smoke
• 56:14
Speaker 2: you kind of grew up with, smoke and a lot
• 56:16
Speaker 2: of these yeah should we, shouldn't Like i'm, saying and
• 56:21
Speaker 2: it's just, like you, know LIKE i, said you gotta
• 56:23
Speaker 2: understand a player who's entering THE nf THE, NBA, NFL
• 56:28
  Speaker 2: w n B a and they're they're. Twenty they literally
• 56:31
Speaker 2: grew up their whole life.
• 56:32
Speaker 6: GAMBLING i mean that's they've been exposed to this their,
• 56:35
  Speaker 6: home this.
• 56:36
Speaker 2: Is a this is part of their How like we
• 56:38
Speaker 2: grew up with like, cigarettes they grew up with.
• 56:40
Speaker 6: Gambling AND i THINK i think your point is perfectly.
• 56:43
Speaker 6: RIGHT i just think.
• 56:44
Speaker 7: That but if we're going to we're going to apply
• 56:46
Speaker 7: the the the the gambling rules are okay for the
• 56:50
  Speaker 7: w n B, a then we need to lessen it
• 56:52
Speaker 7: with THE nba as.
• 56:53
Speaker 6: Well we can't have a double. Standard we can't.
• 56:55
Speaker 7: Agree we, can't you, know take these guys and every
• 56:58
Speaker 7: little thing that they do person keep and prosecute. Them
• 57:01
Speaker 7: when it comes To gamelan and thedn't let them get
• 57:03
Speaker 7: away with, It Scott.
• 57:04
Speaker 1: Free to your, point whether it was four hundred dollars
• 57:06
Speaker 1: and ten, dollars they probably should have been, punished, right
• 57:09
Speaker 1: particularly LIKE i, SAID i assume because it Was All
• 57:11
Speaker 1: star they were talking About All. Star but if you're
• 57:14
Speaker 1: talking about the upcoming, game they probably should have been.
• 57:16
Speaker 3: Suspended, YEAH i mean's not, fined and and then that
• 57:22
Speaker 3: that's what that's usually what it's going to be is
• 57:23
Speaker 3: a fine, fine but come, on if they're joking about this,
• 57:27
Speaker 3: now are you saying this is the first time this
• 57:31
Speaker 3: has ever? Happened, No, no this is this is. Something
• 57:34
Speaker 3: this is a regular deal here to, Me And i'm
• 57:37
Speaker 3: not saying it has to be millions or thousands of.
• 57:40
Speaker 3: Dollars but somebody's talking about this.
• 57:43
Speaker 6: ALL i think they realized it was.
• 57:45
Speaker 7: Wrong would you let somebody video you doing that if
• 57:47
Speaker 7: you THOUGHT i were not doing something?
• 57:49
Speaker 1: Wrong or they just talked this is just the normal motive,
• 57:52
Speaker 1: operations like coach, said and they just they the camera
• 57:55
Speaker 1: was a sort of background on. It SO i don't, know,
• 57:58
  Speaker 1: MAN i, mean LIKE i, SAID i just it's hard
• 58:00
Speaker 1: for me to sit and just have all this punitive
• 58:03
Speaker 1: action when this is who we are as a society
• 58:06
Speaker 1: and who we are as a.
• 58:07
Speaker 3: League, now, yeah BECAUSE i, mean at the end of the, day,
• 58:11
Speaker 3: man you you're accepting all the gambling places to sponsor,
• 58:19
Speaker 3: You SO i should be able to be around a, sponsor, Right,
• 58:25
Speaker 3: like if you're a sponsored in THE nfl and you're
• 58:27
Speaker 3: a gambling, SOURCE i can't go to the gambling, source,
• 58:33
Speaker 3: RIGHT i MEAN i could go, there and ONCE i get,
• 58:36
Speaker 3: There i've already got my.
• 58:37
  Speaker 2: Money why CAN'T i Bet.
• 58:38
Speaker 1: Yeah and it's, like AND i would say, that like
• 58:41
Speaker 1: to make a comparison like, Alcohol like if you have
• 58:43
Speaker 1: an alcohol, problem they can't just throw you. Out they're
• 58:45
Speaker 1: gonna you have to get. Treated me you have to
• 58:48
Speaker 1: there's steps in processes to. This so to your, Point,
• 58:50
Speaker 1: LISA i don't think now we should have just just
• 58:54
Speaker 1: punitive mindset when it comes to these. Things we have
• 58:57
Speaker 1: to have a much more liberal and rehabilitate of approach
• 59:01
Speaker 1: in an addressing these issues when they come.
• 59:03
Speaker 2: Up so all, right well that was a good.
• 59:07
Speaker 3: One, well ladies and, gentlemen we're gonna get out of
• 59:10
Speaker 3: here and we will see you again next week
