Transcript
- 0:01We are habitually conditioned to try to solve problems with our
- 0:05mental capacity. We are taught to observe,
- 0:08organize, classify, compare and contrast, and examine similar
- 0:13past circumstances in order to determine a solution to whatever
- 0:18we are facing. This is the normal pattern for a
- 0:21mentally developed individual. Those who function primarily on
- 0:26the vital level do not necessarily go through this
- 0:29detailed process, but respond to what may be called instinct,
- 0:35feeling or emotional reaction. In either case, we often times
- 0:40find that the result is less than satisfactory.
- 0:44The process generates a lot of stress and discomfort, including
- 0:48pressures we experience in the physical body that lead to
- 0:51indigestion, ulcers, high blood pressure and palpitations.
- 0:57As we begin to understand the development of consciousness, we
- 1:01can see that physical, vital and mental methods of solving
- 1:05problems are limited and inefficient.
- 1:08We can also see that as we begin to explore the spiritual
- 1:12consciousness that represents the next stage of the evolution,
- 1:17that new possibilities arise which operate from a totally
- 1:21different, even opposite standpoint to the prior modes of
- 1:26understanding and decision making.
- 1:29The power of silence, the power of the quiet mind and vital, is
- 1:34a gateway to gaining access to the answers we seek.
- 1:38We are so busy formulating thought and acting in a frenzy
- 1:43that we often times simply don't take the time to stop, quiet the
- 1:47being and allow answers to come. A story in the Mahabharata
- 1:53illustrates the need to listen for answers.
- 1:57A woman was undertaking extreme ascetic disciplines for purpose
- 2:00of gaining a suitable husband. After considerable time had
- 2:04elapsed and she had gained substantial spiritual power in
- 2:09her tapasia, she asked for the boon of a suitable husband.
- 2:13She asked multiple times without noticing any response.
- 2:19Eventually Shiva appeared before her and granted her the boon she
- 2:24had requested, namely that in a future lifetime she would have 5
- 2:28husbands. She objected, saying she only
- 2:32wanted one. Shiva replied that she had asked
- 2:35five times and thus had obtained the response for five husbands.
- 2:42When we quiet the mind and vital and pose the question facing us
- 2:46to the universe, the higher unified field consciousness
- 2:50responds and provides us the answer we need.
- 2:54We have to learn how to listen for the answer the Mother
- 2:59writes. Quote.
- 3:01The noise made by all the words, all the ideas in your head is so
- 3:06deafening that it prevents you from hearing the truth when it
- 3:09wants to manifest. To learn to be quiet and silent
- 3:15when you have a problem to solve, instead of turning over
- 3:18in your head all the possibilities, all the
- 3:21consequences, all the possible things one should or should not
- 3:25do. If you remain quiet with an
- 3:28aspiration for goodwill, if possible, a need for goodwill,
- 3:34the solution comes very quickly and as you are silent, you are
- 3:39able to hear it. When you are caught in a
- 3:42difficulty, try this method instead of becoming agitated,
- 3:47turning over all the ideas and actively seeking solutions of
- 3:51worrying, fretting, running here and there inside your head.
- 3:56I don't mean externally, for externally you probably have
- 3:59enough common sense not to do that.
- 4:01But inside, in your head remain quiet and according to your
- 4:06nature, with ardor or peace, with intensity or widening,
- 4:13where with all these together implore the light and wait for
- 4:17it to come. In this way the path would be
- 4:21considerably shortened. End Quote reference.
