Transcript
- 0:01Speaker 1: Hello and welcome to Outspoken. It's your dose of the
- 0:04Speaker 1: hottest influencer and pop culture news twice a week. Coming
- 0:07Speaker 1: up on today's show, Sarah's Day teases the gender of
- 0:11Speaker 1: her baby, Instagram models are accused of ruining Australian Fashion Week,
- 0:16Speaker 1: Sky Wheatley says she's embarrassed to be an influencer, and
- 0:19Speaker 1: the real-life Martha from Baby Reindeer is demanding millions for
- 0:23Speaker 1: her interview.
- 0:24Speaker 2: With Piers Morgan. But first.
- 0:26Speaker 1: Tammy Hembrough's fiance, Matt Sikowsky, has revealed he shat himself
- 0:30Speaker 1: in the car on the way to record a podcast.
- 0:33Speaker 1: The former Love Island contestant spent the first five minutes
- 0:36Speaker 1: of his podcast detailing the gross story in a segment
- 0:40Speaker 1: called Ick of the Week. It definitely gave.
- 0:42Speaker 2: Me a massive ick.
- 0:43Speaker 1: So what actually happened? What caused him to shit himself? Well,
- 0:46Speaker 1: he said that he went to fart and then followed through.
- 0:50Speaker 1: And I felt really sorry for his co-host, Anna McEnvoy,
- 0:53Speaker 1: because She copped the first phone call asking if she
- 0:56Speaker 1: had any spare jocks for him. And she didn't. So
- 0:59Speaker 1: he actually had to race into a shopping center in Toorak,
- 1:03Speaker 1: of all places. That's a very fancy suburb in Melbourne,
- 1:06Speaker 1: to go and buy some new undies. So he said
- 1:08Speaker 1: he first disposed of his underpants in the public toilets.
- 1:12Speaker 1: He then went and bought new undies and new trackies
- 1:14Speaker 1: from the shopping center and some gastro stop. Is this
- 1:16Speaker 1: because he's.
- 1:17Speaker 2: Been in Bali? Did he have a case of Bali belly?
- 1:19Speaker 1: Well, Anna McEvoy was a little bit nervous because she
- 1:21Speaker 1: was set to board a flight to Greece for her
- 1:23Speaker 1: wedding after the podcast. And she said, oh my God,
- 1:26Speaker 1: I hope you're not contagious. I'm going to be shitting
- 1:28Speaker 1: on the plane. And he said, well, I was a
- 1:29Speaker 1: little bit worried I would be contagious, but I think
- 1:31Speaker 1: it's from eating a dodgy oyster in Bali on Tammy's
- 1:35Speaker 1: 30th birthday trip. The best bit was when he spoke
- 1:38Speaker 1: about having to call Tammy and tell her the news.
- 1:40Speaker 1: Let's throw to that clip. Imagine like calling your fiance saying, hey,
- 1:46Speaker 1: you can never believe it.
- 1:47Speaker 3: I'm running through Woolies trying to find a new pair
- 1:49Speaker 3: of underwear.
- 1:50Speaker 4: Wasn't fun.
- 1:51Speaker 1: I would be more concerned sharing that information with the
- 1:54Speaker 1: podcast as opposed to my fiance. That being said, I
- 1:57Speaker 1: feel like everyone has a funny poo story, like an
- 2:00Speaker 1: instance where something has hit them when they're in the
- 2:02Speaker 1: car or.
- 2:03Speaker 2: They're out and about. And it's so shameful, but it
- 2:05Speaker 2: does actually happen to everyone.
- 2:07Speaker 1: Well, props to him for actually going and then recording
- 2:10Speaker 1: the podcast after. He could have easily just driven home. Well, Sophie,
- 2:13Speaker 1: it sounds like you want to share one. I definitely
- 2:15Speaker 1: don't want to share one, but I think we've all
- 2:16Speaker 1: had that experience of going to a restaurant. and you've
- 2:19Speaker 1: experienced food poisoning at the restaurant and you're having to
- 2:22Speaker 1: make that dash back home, I think that that is
- 2:25Speaker 1: the most humanising, levelling thing to happen to everyone. I'm
- 2:28Speaker 1: just feeling so sorry for all of the Outspoken listeners
- 2:31Speaker 1: who are probably starting their day with breakfast and listening
- 2:34Speaker 1: to this episode. I want to know what happened to
- 2:37Speaker 1: Matt's car because he said it was liquidy and also
- 2:40Speaker 1: he had to dispose of his track pants.
- 2:42Speaker 2: The track pants as well.
- 2:44Speaker 1: I remember once you got food poisoning, Kate, when we
- 2:46Speaker 1: were all working.
- 2:47Speaker 2: At a bar job.
- 2:48Speaker 1: And we'd driven together and I'd only just recently bought
- 2:51Speaker 1: a brand new car and you're like, can I please
- 2:54Speaker 1: take it?
- 2:55Speaker 2: And I think we made.
- 2:56Speaker 1: The decision that if you got caught short and had
- 2:58Speaker 1: to do business in the car, we would be exchanging cars. Yeah,
- 3:01Speaker 1: it was touch and go. The funniest bit was I
- 3:03Speaker 1: actually wanted, so we had Mazda 2s and I wanted
- 3:06Speaker 1: the black version, which you got. So I was half
- 3:09Speaker 1: tempted to, you know, let things go.
- 3:11Speaker 4: Honestly, every second question was this.
- 3:14Speaker 1: Are you going to find out the gender of this baby?
- 3:17Speaker 1: Super sleuths are convinced that Sarah's day is expecting a
- 3:20Speaker 1: baby boy. The fitness influencer uploaded a pregnancy Q &
- 3:23Speaker 1: A to YouTube where she revealed they already know the
- 3:27Speaker 1: gender of the baby. She said it was the most
- 3:29Speaker 1: popular question that she'd received and explained they found out
- 3:32Speaker 1: the baby's gender at around 12 weeks.
- 3:35Speaker 2: Here's what she said.
- 3:36Speaker 4: We did the NIPT test and I do have a
- 3:38Speaker 4: video of that. I just need to get around to
- 3:40Speaker 4: posting it and announcing the gender of our baby. But
- 3:43Speaker 4: it was really funny and random how it like came out.
- 3:46Speaker 4: Our friends got involved and it just became really spontaneous
- 3:49Speaker 4: and we were really impatient. Anyway, that video is coming.
- 3:52Speaker 2: So yes, we know the gender of our baby.
- 3:55Speaker 1: As soon as I heard that she knew the gender
- 3:57Speaker 1: of the baby, I started listening very intently because she
- 4:00Speaker 1: has been very open about wanting a girl. And I
- 4:03Speaker 1: feel like she would make it quite obvious what she's having.
- 4:06Speaker 1: It would be hard to cover up during the Q &
- 4:08Speaker 1: A when you know what it is. Especially because there
- 4:11Speaker 1: can be gender disappointment when you have been going on
- 4:13Speaker 1: that you're desperate for a girl, that your kids want
- 4:15Speaker 1: a girl. It'd be difficult for her to film that
- 4:18Speaker 1: knowing potentially she's having a boy. Yeah, well, because she
- 4:20Speaker 1: came out a couple of months ago and said that
- 4:22Speaker 1: her eldest son, Fox, was praying for a sister. So
- 4:26Speaker 1: everyone knows deep down she wants a girl.
- 4:28Speaker 2: And she even.
- 4:29Speaker 1: Uploaded a YouTube video entitled, They Want a Sister. So
- 4:33Speaker 1: it's been no secret. Yeah, so it wasn't really surprising
- 4:35Speaker 1: when one of her followers wrote in saying, did you
- 4:38Speaker 1: try and sway the gender in favor of a girl?
- 4:41Speaker 2: Here's what she said.
- 4:43Speaker 1: Honestly, no.
- 4:44Speaker 4: Before we conceived this baby, when I was praying about it,
- 4:47Speaker 4: I felt an overwhelming sense of peace that whatever we
- 4:50Speaker 4: get is meant for our family. And I truly believe that.
- 4:52Speaker 4: I just am praying for a healthy pregnancy, a healthy baby.
- 4:55Speaker 4: After Malachi and everything that happened with that pregnancy, truly
- 4:59Speaker 4: just want a healthy baby and to like fly under
- 5:02Speaker 4: the radar with this pregnancy because with both previous pregnancies
- 5:06Speaker 4: I've had different issues arise that have made me high
- 5:09Speaker 4: risk or I've had extra care and extra scans and
- 5:12Speaker 4: I just really want a healthy baby and whatever we're
- 5:15Speaker 4: meant to have we are going to have in this
- 5:17Speaker 4: family and we're going to love our baby whether it's
- 5:19Speaker 4: a girl or a boy so no we didn't try
- 5:22Speaker 4: to sway it and I honestly feel like we got
- 5:24Speaker 4: what we're meant to have.
- 5:25Speaker 1: I actually have a friend who she had two sons
- 5:28Speaker 1: and then they really wanted a girl and they actually
- 5:31Speaker 1: did try all of these different methods to get a
- 5:34Speaker 1: girl and it worked.
- 5:35Speaker 5: Wow.
- 5:36Speaker 6: What kind of methods?
- 5:37Speaker 1: Well, I think it's to do with the Chinese moon
- 5:40Speaker 1: calendar or something when you have sex. I have heard
- 5:43Speaker 1: there's different positions that you're more likely to have a
- 5:46Speaker 1: girl in. But yeah, I think there's all these little
- 5:49Speaker 1: wives tales of different ways that you can have a
- 5:51Speaker 1: girl what's 50 50 yeah now my ears did prick
- 5:54Speaker 1: up when sarah said i feel like we've got what
- 5:57Speaker 1: we're meant to have and this is because even before
- 6:00Speaker 1: she had fox she would go on that she knew
- 6:03Speaker 1: she was destined to be a boy mom and have
- 6:05Speaker 1: three sons and super sleuths also picked up in the
- 6:08Speaker 1: comment section that there were a few slips of the
- 6:10Speaker 1: tongue throughout the video so When talking about ovulating, Sarah said,
- 6:14Speaker 1: when I got the same feeling that I got with
- 6:16Speaker 1: my other boy. So the emphasis was on other boys,
- 6:20Speaker 1: inferring maybe this is a boy. See, I'm not convinced.
- 6:23Speaker 1: I think that she is purposely trying to create confusion
- 6:26Speaker 1: for engagement because apparently on one of Sarah's Instagram posts
- 6:30Speaker 1: about her pregnancy, she included three blue love hearts. She
- 6:33Speaker 1: then edited the caption.
- 6:34Speaker 2: Well, that backs up what I was saying.
- 6:35Speaker 1: But then if you let me finish, she's also been
- 6:38Speaker 1: liking comments on Instagram of people saying things like, they
- 6:41Speaker 1: hope she's having a girl or they think that she's
- 6:43Speaker 1: having a girl. So I think she's purposely trying to
- 6:46Speaker 1: create some conversations around it. Am I the only person
- 6:49Speaker 1: who doesn't care what gender she's having? I just, I
- 6:52Speaker 1: can't stand this, the huge fuss that people make over
- 6:56Speaker 1: the gender. You're either going to get one or the
- 6:58Speaker 1: other and you're just blessed to have a baby that
- 7:01Speaker 1: is healthy. I totally get that, but I am heavily
- 7:04Speaker 1: invested on the gender of this baby because she has
- 7:07Speaker 1: been prefacing.
- 7:08Speaker 2: That she wants a baby girl.
- 7:09Speaker 1: She's been using that to clickbait a lot of her
- 7:12Speaker 1: YouTube videos. So I think it will be quite interesting
- 7:15Speaker 1: to see how they react as a family. Well, do
- 7:17Speaker 1: you think she is going to do a gender reveal?
- 7:19Speaker 7: Well, yeah.
- 7:20Speaker 2: She said it was actually.
- 7:20Speaker 1: Really random the way it all came together. It sounds
- 7:23Speaker 1: like they've done something with their friends and family and
- 7:26Speaker 1: they have filmed it.
- 7:27Speaker 2: It is filmed. She just needs to edit it.
- 7:29Speaker 1: So I think that we will be potentially getting this
- 7:31Speaker 1: video in the next couple of weeks. Well, that kind
- 7:33Speaker 1: of makes sense why she's trying to sway people one
- 7:35Speaker 1: way and then suddenly going the other way.
- 7:37Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 7:37Speaker 1: I'm actually so interested to see how she reacts to
- 7:40Speaker 1: the gender announcement because there's a lot of pressure on her.
- 7:43Speaker 1: She's come out and said that she wants a girl.
- 7:45Speaker 1: So if it comes out that she is having a boy,
- 7:49Speaker 1: is she going to act disappointed? I think there should
- 7:52Speaker 1: be room to be disappointed and be in those feelings though,
- 7:55Speaker 1: which is why I think it is dangerous for people
- 7:57Speaker 1: to film these gender reveals.
- 8:00Speaker 2: And I think that there's.
- 8:01Speaker 1: Nothing wrong with having that slight moment of perhaps we
- 8:03Speaker 1: hoped for this and we got that and it changes
- 8:05Speaker 1: our way of what we thought our family would be.
- 8:08Speaker 1: But the uncomfortable thing is putting it out to people
- 8:10Speaker 1: and letting people see that reaction. Can you imagine being
- 8:13Speaker 1: the kid and seeing the gender reveal later on and
- 8:16Speaker 1: the mother's face dropping? Yeah, well, that's why I'm wondering
- 8:18Speaker 1: if it is a girl, because I don't think she
- 8:21Speaker 1: would want to make a big deal about it if
- 8:22Speaker 1: she was having a third boy, because people will know
- 8:25Speaker 1: that there is an element of disappointment there.
- 8:27Speaker 2: The thing is, Sarah knows that this is her last pregnancy.
- 8:30Speaker 1: She said in this video that pregnancy content is her
- 8:32Speaker 1: favorite type of content to share. So I think that
- 8:35Speaker 1: she will be getting around a lot of the trends
- 8:37Speaker 1: that we're seeing at the moment, and she will be
- 8:39Speaker 1: dropping a lot of clues. One of those clues, which
- 8:41Speaker 1: I think will come after the gender announcement, is the
- 8:44Speaker 1: baby's name.
- 8:45Speaker 2: She did say that now that it is.
- 8:46Speaker 1: Her last pregnancy, she said that now she'll be able
- 8:49Speaker 1: to share a lot of the names that they like
- 8:51Speaker 1: as a but they haven't chosen. Oh, that is such
- 8:54Speaker 1: a trend on TikTok at the moment. I saw M
- 8:56Speaker 1: Davies did a piss take of it and people thought
- 8:59Speaker 1: that she genuinely really liked these names when she didn't.
- 9:02Speaker 1: What's interesting this time is that she is 16 weeks pregnant,
- 9:05Speaker 1: but they haven't decided on a name. With Fox, they
- 9:09Speaker 1: always knew he was going to be called Fox. Malachi's
- 9:11Speaker 1: name apparently came to her in a dream and she's
- 9:13Speaker 1: hoping that this time around the baby's name also comes
- 9:16Speaker 1: to her in a dream. She did say that she
- 9:18Speaker 1: has a genre of names that she likes, but nothing
- 9:21Speaker 1: is set in stone yet. Can we throw around some
- 9:23Speaker 1: names that we think she's going to call the baby?
- 9:25Speaker 1: Because this year we did do a 2024 prediction of
- 9:28Speaker 1: what was going to happen in the influencer world. See,
- 9:30Speaker 1: I think it's too hard before we know the gender.
- 9:32Speaker 1: I don't feel confident putting out a name before I
- 9:34Speaker 1: know if this is a boy or a girl, but
- 9:36Speaker 1: it's obviously going to be something unusual. It's not going
- 9:38Speaker 1: to be you know, Tom, Dick or Harry. It's going
- 9:41Speaker 1: to be a weird name.
- 9:42Speaker 2: So white and Fox.
- 9:44Speaker 1: No, I did see a rumor that she liked the
- 9:46Speaker 1: name Bambi for a girl. I don't think she's going
- 9:49Speaker 1: to do it because of Indy Clinton and also Molly may. However,
- 9:52Speaker 1: I think it could be on an animal theme because
- 9:55Speaker 1: you've got Fox while Malachi means angel. They actually call
- 9:59Speaker 1: him moo. a lot and he apparently likes cows. So
- 10:02Speaker 1: I'm thinking it could be some sort of banyan animal feel.
- 10:06Speaker 1: This is random, but do you think it could be
- 10:08Speaker 1: something like i know that fox loves bluey and just
- 10:11Speaker 1: putting that you're saying a color amy bluey would be
- 10:14Speaker 1: a very popular name because of that show i've never
- 10:17Speaker 1: heard anyone call their child bluey though had she had
- 10:20Speaker 1: the baby a few years ago it might have been
- 10:21Speaker 1: called beige well you've got fox mooey and bluey it
- 10:23Speaker 1: kind of goes fox mooey and bluey it's not gonna
- 10:26Speaker 1: be bluey it would be blue something like blue ivy yeah.
- 10:31Speaker 5: No i'm sick of it i'm sick of it i'm
- 10:34Speaker 5: sick of it i'm sick.
- 10:35Speaker 1: Of it Sky Wheatley says she's embarrassed to be called
- 10:38Speaker 1: an influencer. The winner of I'm a Celeb shared an
- 10:41Speaker 1: honest rant on her Instagram story, declaring dealing with influencers
- 10:45Speaker 1: has made her lose faith in humanity. And this is
- 10:48Speaker 1: why everyone loves Sky Wheatley. She's come out and said
- 10:50Speaker 1: that most influencers are stuck up, entitled, rude, inconsiderate, and
- 10:55Speaker 1: only care about two things, money and fame. She also
- 10:59Speaker 1: said that she's always the first person to support others
- 11:01Speaker 1: in the industry and But over time, when you never
- 11:04Speaker 1: receive the love or support back, you lose faith in humanity.
- 11:08Speaker 1: She finished up by saying, people in the industry are
- 11:10Speaker 1: so rude and selfish, it frustrates the hell out of me.
- 11:14Speaker 1: I want to call people out so badly, but I
- 11:16Speaker 1: won't because I have a brand to uphold and I'm
- 11:19Speaker 1: passionate about being a kind and beautiful person. Unfortunately, not
- 11:22Speaker 1: many people in the industry give a flying fuck about that,
- 11:25Speaker 1: so I refuse to be one of them. She then
- 11:28Speaker 1: teased that she had more dirt, writing, don't even get
- 11:31Speaker 1: me started on the people, that have used me also.
- 11:33Speaker 2: That's a story for a different time.
- 11:35Speaker 1: I would love Sky to spill the tea further. Who
- 11:38Speaker 1: are the influencers she's referring to? I'm assuming this has
- 11:41Speaker 1: something to do with her apparel line, Good People Apparel. Yeah,
- 11:45Speaker 1: because she has spoken out on a lot of podcasts
- 11:47Speaker 1: about how she gets frustrated because she will gift influencers
- 11:52Speaker 1: her tracksuits and they'll never post about it. And she's
- 11:54Speaker 1: made the effort now that if ever she gets sent something,
- 11:57Speaker 1: she'll at least do a flat lay or post about.
- 11:59Speaker 2: It on an Instagram story.
- 12:00Speaker 1: Did you see recently she got sent some Keisha pyjamas
- 12:03Speaker 1: and she had no idea who Sophie Keisha was? Clearly
- 12:06Speaker 1: something has happened. I do have to give it to
- 12:09Speaker 1: her this time around though. She was much more reserved.
- 12:11Speaker 1: So she actually typed out the rant rather than going
- 12:14Speaker 1: rogue and speaking on camera. I miss rogue Sky Wheatley.
- 12:18Speaker 1: She did appear briefly on camera after the story. And
- 12:21Speaker 1: I got really excited thinking that she was going to
- 12:23Speaker 1: name and shame. But her partner, Lockie, told her not
- 12:25Speaker 1: to open up a can of worms. Let's throw to
- 12:27Speaker 1: some of what they said.
- 12:28Speaker 5: So, Dol, how are people in your industry? How do
- 12:32Speaker 5: you find them?
- 12:33Speaker 3: Well, I still deal with.
- 12:36Speaker 5: Human beings, Dol. Yeah, human beings are just, look.
- 12:39Speaker 7: You deal with them.
- 12:41Speaker 5: Yeah, human beings, though, have always been imperfect people. You know,
- 12:49Speaker 5: they've always been a bit dodgy. They've always been hard
- 12:52Speaker 5: to trust.
- 12:54Speaker 7: You should just stop.
- 12:56Speaker 3: Wait, wait, hey, Joe. Just don't open a can of worms, please.
- 13:01Speaker 2: No, I'm sick of it.
- 13:03Speaker 5: I'm sick of it, I'm sick of it, I'm sick
- 13:05Speaker 5: of it. I just don't know why it's so hard
- 13:09Speaker 5: to be, I don't know, in simple words, people just
- 13:14Speaker 5: absolutely grind my gears.
- 13:19Speaker 1: It's clear that she is trying to think about this
- 13:20Speaker 1: more strategically and not just put out a rant that
- 13:24Speaker 1: she can't control because she has got so much good
- 13:27Speaker 1: PR out of winning that competition.
- 13:29Speaker 2: She's more in the mainstream now.
- 13:30Speaker 1: So she does have to be careful about how she's
- 13:32Speaker 1: going to react to things like these. I'm wondering if
- 13:35Speaker 1: there's a little bit of jealousy going on in the
- 13:37Speaker 1: influencer world because Sky has got such great publicity, Sophie,
- 13:40Speaker 1: as you said, out of appearing on this show. Maybe
- 13:43Speaker 1: they don't want to share it and help her out
- 13:45Speaker 1: any further. Well, she did mention tall poppy syndrome in
- 13:48Speaker 1: her rant and I do think that she was probably
- 13:50Speaker 1: under the impression that winning the title of Queen of
- 13:53Speaker 1: the Jungle would get her more cred amongst the influencers. However,
- 13:58Speaker 1: it doesn't seem to have happened. It is interesting because
- 14:01Speaker 1: I do agree with you. I think it must have
- 14:02Speaker 1: something to do with her apparel line. But she isn't
- 14:06Speaker 1: shy in calling influencers out. She was very public with
- 14:09Speaker 1: her relationship breakdown with Michael Finch. And if you do
- 14:13Speaker 1: think back to when she first started posting on YouTube,
- 14:17Speaker 1: It's always seemed like she's a little bit on the outer.
- 14:20Speaker 1: So when she was friends with Sharni Grumman and Michael
- 14:23Speaker 1: Finch and Lily Brown, it always felt like she was
- 14:25Speaker 1: really fighting to be in that group, but never quite
- 14:28Speaker 1: cracked it. I also think she likes being one of
- 14:31Speaker 1: the people. So I think that she knows that her
- 14:33Speaker 1: audience are going to respond well to her calling influences out.
- 14:36Speaker 1: And it sort of disconnects herself from that crowd of
- 14:39Speaker 1: people a bit more. She would have an audience predominantly
- 14:42Speaker 1: made up of mums, I would assume, who would enjoy
- 14:45Speaker 1: her having a say. Well, I think she now sees
- 14:47Speaker 1: herself as a reality TV star, and I think that
- 14:50Speaker 1: has always been a little bit of a difference between her.
- 14:53Speaker 1: She made it big on Big Brother. She's now won
- 14:55Speaker 1: another massive TV show. So she really is in a
- 14:59Speaker 1: different genre of influencer now.
- 15:02Speaker 7: Okay, so does anyone know who the influencers were that
- 15:05Speaker 7: attended Australian Fashion Week this week and left before the
- 15:08Speaker 7: Beckenbridge show? This in no way, shape or form affects
- 15:11Speaker 7: my life at all. However, I just need to know.
- 15:14Speaker 7: I need to know.
- 15:15Speaker 3: I need to know.
- 15:16Speaker 1: Influencers descended on Australian Fashion Week in their droves last week,
- 15:20Speaker 1: desperate to get snapped at the invite-only event. While the
- 15:24Speaker 1: iconic Sydney fashion event dominated social media feeds, the influencers
- 15:29Speaker 1: in attendance were slammed online for ruining the event and
- 15:33Speaker 1: lacking diversity. Now, to put this commentary into perspective, I
- 15:37Speaker 1: think it is important to discuss the difference between Australian
- 15:40Speaker 1: Fashion Week and Melbourne Fashion Week, Kate. Yeah, as you
- 15:43Speaker 1: touched on, Soph, Australian Fashion Week is an invite-only industry event.
- 15:48Speaker 1: And the purpose of the event is for designers to
- 15:50Speaker 1: showcase collections that are not yet available to the general public.
- 15:54Speaker 1: So journalists, influencers, content creators, buyers and stylists are invited
- 15:59Speaker 1: to get an insight into what is available later in
- 16:02Speaker 1: the year so they can begin planning for campaigns and
- 16:05Speaker 1: what they want to stock in store. Now there are
- 16:07Speaker 1: just two shows during Australian Fashion Week that you can
- 16:11Speaker 1: purchase tickets to and on the other hand Melbourne Fashion
- 16:14Speaker 1: Week is a consumer event that is ticketed and it
- 16:17Speaker 1: showcases fashion that is available for purchase in store so
- 16:20Speaker 1: they really push you to shop the runway and have
- 16:23Speaker 1: real-time purchases. So for this reason the invite list for
- 16:27Speaker 1: Australian Fashion Week is being heavily scrutinized particularly off the
- 16:33Speaker 1: just turned up to be photographed and left the show
- 16:36Speaker 1: before they started.
- 16:37Speaker 2: I did see.
- 16:38Speaker 1: Quite a few micro-influencers sneaking to the front row once
- 16:41Speaker 1: the events were finished and snapping photos there just so.
- 16:44Speaker 2: That it could look like that that's where they're invited
- 16:47Speaker 2: to sit.
- 16:47Speaker 1: There's just so much smoke and mirrors when it comes
- 16:50Speaker 1: to this event. Well, this week, Kate, you shared some
- 16:52Speaker 1: photos of some influencers at Australian Fashion Week. And as
- 16:55Speaker 1: I was scanning through, I was like, all of the
- 16:57Speaker 1: influencers look the same. They were all blonde, skinny... There
- 17:01Speaker 1: was really no diversity. Yeah, there wasn't a lot of
- 17:03Speaker 1: diversity going on. It was all the people that you
- 17:05Speaker 1: would expect to be at this event. So there were
- 17:08Speaker 1: either people who were Instagram models or those who have
- 17:11Speaker 1: started their own fashion brand. I was interested to see
- 17:15Speaker 1: who Paul Versace invited to his event. So he hosted
- 17:18Speaker 1: a pre-Australian Fashion Week party at Chin Chin and he
- 17:21Speaker 1: actually dressed 10 women for the Carla Zempatti show. And
- 17:25Speaker 1: it was just all the people that you're used to
- 17:27Speaker 1: seeing on his Instagram account.
- 17:28Speaker 2: A lot of them do.
- 17:29Speaker 1: Look quite similar. So you had Olivia Rogers, Sharni Grumman,
- 17:33Speaker 1: Hannah Del Sasso, Annalise Dallians, Francesca Hung and Tegan Martin
- 17:37Speaker 1: to name a few. Yeah. And at Fashion Week itself,
- 17:40Speaker 1: there was the usual crowd. So we saw Sammy Robinson there,
- 17:44Speaker 1: Sophia Begg, Tammy Hembrough, Jade Tunchi, Riley Hempson, Madison Woolley,
- 17:50Speaker 1: Bella Valaris, the Mesquite Twins and also Morgan Waterhouse. I
- 17:54Speaker 1: couldn't believe some of the Instagram stories that Morgan was
- 17:57Speaker 1: sharing at the event. At one stage, he got one
- 18:01Speaker 1: of his friends to film him doing a.
- 18:03Speaker 2: Bit of a catwalk.
- 18:04Speaker 1: He wasn't on the catwalk, but he was parading around.
- 18:07Speaker 1: He then had a paper bag that was almost larger
- 18:10Speaker 1: than him and was strutting around with that. It was
- 18:13Speaker 1: literally the definition of a walking ick. I do wonder
- 18:17Speaker 1: if Olivia saw him at the event and thought, bloody hell.
- 18:21Speaker 2: I have dodged a bullet there.
- 18:22Speaker 5: Wait, wait.
- 18:22Speaker 1: A bigger ick than shitting yourself in your car on
- 18:25Speaker 1: the way to a podcast recording?
- 18:26Speaker 2: I actually think it was.
- 18:27Speaker 1: Worse because at least– At least Matt.
- 18:30Speaker 2: Couldn't help being unwell.
- 18:32Speaker 1: Like in this instant, this is a choice.
- 18:33Speaker 2: That you've made.
- 18:34Speaker 1: It would have been hard for Olivia to miss him
- 18:36Speaker 1: with that big bag walking around. Now, back to the
- 18:39Speaker 1: lack of diversity, culture writer and slow fashion advocate Maggie
- 18:43Speaker 1: Zhu shared her frustration on TikTok. So you might recognize
- 18:46Speaker 1: Maggie as she actually wore this really cool stacked skirt
- 18:50Speaker 1: look at Australian Fashion Week that got a lot of
- 18:51Speaker 1: traction online. Now, she said that the lack of diversity
- 18:55Speaker 1: has always been obvious on the runway, but this year
- 18:58Speaker 1: it was clear in the street style. Let's throw in
- 19:01Speaker 1: some of what she said.
- 19:03Speaker 3: I remember last year, there was a bit of controversy
- 19:05Speaker 3: on TikTok, people rightfully calling out the fact that a
- 19:08Speaker 3: lot of POC or plus size creators don't really get snapped. Well,
- 19:13Speaker 3: this year, I feel like the street style is a
- 19:16Speaker 3: lot of media publications are just really leaning heavily into
- 19:20Speaker 3: like the model of Judy look right street style doesn't
- 19:24Speaker 3: seem to be about the style as much rather than
- 19:28Speaker 3: oh it's a hot person who photographs well the number
- 19:32Speaker 3: of galleries I've opened up and this is from a
- 19:34Speaker 3: variety of publications so definitely not just calling out one
- 19:36Speaker 3: in particular that are just Very simple, very basic outfits. Again,
- 19:43Speaker 3: I don't mean to say that outfits need to be
- 19:46Speaker 3: extravagant or anything, but it's like, it's blatantly obvious that
- 19:50Speaker 3: some people were photographed because they were thin and pretty
- 19:53Speaker 3: and more often than not white the images that are
- 19:56Speaker 3: coming out like are feeling reminiscent of like 2014 tumblr
- 19:59Speaker 3: days and it's just like we are going backwards.
- 20:03Speaker 1: Maggie then went on to say there isn't a deficit
- 20:05Speaker 1: of people of color and plus size created in the
- 20:08Speaker 1: industry and They just need the opportunity to be shown.
- 20:11Speaker 1: I tend to agree with Maggie because a lot of
- 20:14Speaker 1: the influencers I saw photographed were wearing quite basic outfits
- 20:18Speaker 1: in the scheme of Australian Fashion Week. A bunch of
- 20:21Speaker 1: them had been dressed by fast fashion brands like Glasson.
- 20:23Speaker 1: So it was clear that they were only in these
- 20:26Speaker 1: photos because they were perceivably hot. Sorry, your analysis just
- 20:29Speaker 1: reminds me of all those TikToks where people said they
- 20:31Speaker 1: were watching the Met Gala, just judging everyone's outfit while
- 20:34Speaker 1: they were just dressed in like trash clothes. Well, comedian
- 20:37Speaker 1: and fashion icon, Ben Blue, who has over 4 million
- 20:40Speaker 1: TikTok followers, actually declared that Instagram models are ruining Australian
- 20:45Speaker 1: Fashion Week. So he explained that the main reason he
- 20:48Speaker 1: likes attending the event is seeing all the crazy outfits
- 20:51Speaker 1: and experimental fashion. He then said this.
- 20:54Speaker 8: And then there's the Instagram models, not specifically Instagram because
- 20:58Speaker 8: they're also on TikTok as well. But these are the
- 20:59Speaker 8: girls coming in wearing like white box boutique, beginning boutique,
- 21:02Speaker 8: which is fine if you want to wear that. But
- 21:04Speaker 8: what gets me is how they treat the people that
- 21:06Speaker 8: are wearing fun fashion.
- 21:08Speaker 1: Ben then went on to say that while he was
- 21:10Speaker 1: being photographed wearing a floral dress from Rachel Burke, he
- 21:14Speaker 1: noticed a bunch of Instagram models wearing what he said
- 21:17Speaker 1: were basic outfits looking disapprovingly at him.
- 21:21Speaker 8: He then said this, I can't tell if they're just
- 21:24Speaker 8: jealous because the photographers are focusing on me and not them,
- 21:26Speaker 8: or if they just didn't like what I was wearing,
- 21:28Speaker 8: which is fine because fashion is subjective. But they parade
- 21:32Speaker 8: around Fashion Week as if they are the top, as
- 21:34Speaker 8: if they own it, and making fun of the people
- 21:36Speaker 8: that are actually wearing fun outfits. And it wasn't even
- 21:39Speaker 8: just me that they were making fun of. Like I
- 21:41Speaker 8: saw it happen to multiple people. Like to be honest,
- 21:43Speaker 8: it's probably just like a lot of ego concentrated into
- 21:46Speaker 8: the one section. But how dare you come to Fashion
- 21:48Speaker 8: Week and act that way towards people that are wearing
- 21:50Speaker 8: actually fun fashion. Australian Fashion Week is for fashion, not
- 21:53Speaker 8: for your ego.
- 21:55Speaker 1: I think that's so sad because Australian Fashion Week is
- 21:58Speaker 1: somewhere where you should feel comfortable to express yourself in
- 22:01Speaker 1: your clothes and have a bit of fun. I do
- 22:04Speaker 1: enjoy the fact that TikTok keeps providing us with the
- 22:07Speaker 1: goods from behind the scenes, all of the influencer drama
- 22:10Speaker 1: at Fashion Week because stylist Jamie Lee shared a video
- 22:13Speaker 1: that is gaining a lot of traction about what it's
- 22:16Speaker 1: really like behind the scenes at some of the runway shows.
- 22:18Speaker 1: So in the TikTok, she shared that she saw two
- 22:21Speaker 1: influencers taking photos of themselves on the runway before the
- 22:25Speaker 1: Beckenbridge show. Then apparently they returned to their seats and said, okay,
- 22:30Speaker 1: should we go and get dinner now? Let's throw to
- 22:33Speaker 1: more of what Jamie said.
- 22:34Speaker 6: So It is such a huge privilege to even get
- 22:39Speaker 6: to be invited to one of these shows during Fashion Week.
- 22:42Speaker 6: There are capacity limits on the venues and there are
- 22:45Speaker 6: only so many people who get to go. And of course,
- 22:48Speaker 6: that means that there are plenty of people who want
- 22:49Speaker 6: to go who do not get to attend. So like
- 22:52Speaker 6: I said, it is a huge privilege to actually even
- 22:55Speaker 6: get invited to the show and to be able to
- 22:57Speaker 6: see the designers' new collection, to be able to support them.
- 23:00Speaker 6: And it's also a great opportunity to get a sense
- 23:02Speaker 6: of the trends that are going to be coming up
- 23:04Speaker 6: in the fashion landscape.
- 23:05Speaker 5: Where you live.
- 23:07Speaker 6: So the fact that these girls weren't even bothered to
- 23:10Speaker 6: see the show, that they just wanted to be there,
- 23:12Speaker 6: take the photos so that they could post it on
- 23:14Speaker 6: social media and then leave. I just feel like that
- 23:16Speaker 6: was so, so disrespectful.
- 23:20Speaker 1: Jamie Lee finished up saying that she'd never seen the
- 23:22Speaker 1: girls before and wasn't sure who they were, but was
- 23:25Speaker 1: absolutely gobsmacked by what she saw. I have been loving
- 23:28Speaker 1: the commentary on TikTok because people have made videos off
- 23:31Speaker 1: the back of this being like, who is it? I
- 23:33Speaker 1: need to know. Like, does anyone know? And people have
- 23:35Speaker 1: been putting guesses down, but... there has not been any
- 23:38Speaker 1: confirmation of who those two influencers were. While I don't
- 23:41Speaker 1: think that that's appropriate behavior for an event like this
- 23:44Speaker 1: where it is invite only, I can understand sometimes when
- 23:48Speaker 1: you're invited to something that you don't necessarily want to
- 23:50Speaker 1: go to and you You know, the option of going
- 23:53Speaker 1: out to dinner afterwards is like elusive.
- 23:55Speaker 2: You're like, let's get the fuck.
- 23:56Speaker 1: Out of here.
- 23:57Speaker 2: Let's snap a photo.
- 23:58Speaker 1: Yeah, but how pissed off would you be if you're
- 24:00Speaker 1: the brand and you've given these influencers the tickets and
- 24:03Speaker 1: all that?
- 24:03Speaker 2: It's kind of like cheating on a school assignment.
- 24:05Speaker 1: They've just gone and taken the photo, but they haven't
- 24:07Speaker 1: actually sat there and watched it. It shows how fake
- 24:09Speaker 1: the whole world is.
- 24:10Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 24:11Speaker 1: You look at it and think, wow, they must be
- 24:13Speaker 1: having the time of their lives at this event. But really,
- 24:15Speaker 1: it's all about they're all sitting on their phones, editing
- 24:18Speaker 1: photos of themselves, not actually engaged in anything that's going on.
- 24:20Speaker 1: Or just wanting to show off that they're there, but
- 24:22Speaker 1: then not actually sit there and consume the content. The
- 24:25Speaker 1: thing is, should we be blaming the influencers or the
- 24:27Speaker 1: people that invited them? Because PR teams need to take notice. Yeah. Hopefully,
- 24:33Speaker 1: Beckenbridge's PR team have noted down who it was that
- 24:36Speaker 1: did this and they are not going to be on
- 24:37Speaker 1: the invite list again. What do they have to do
- 24:40Speaker 1: next time though? You know, like how offices are tracking
- 24:43Speaker 1: people working from home by scheduling in Zoom meetings? Like,
- 24:46Speaker 1: do they need to schedule in something after the runway show?
- 24:48Speaker 2: They're probably just.
- 24:49Speaker 1: Happy that they shared about their event because at the
- 24:52Speaker 1: end of the day, if these two influencers came along
- 24:54Speaker 1: and they were glued to the show.
- 24:56Speaker 2: And, you know, they stayed and spoke to everyone... but
- 24:58Speaker 2: didn't put up a post, they'd be in more trouble.
- 25:00Speaker 1: Well, maybe they need to serve food at the event.
- 25:02Speaker 1: It sounds like a lot of people were hungry.
- 25:03Speaker 2: Maybe everyone's angry and hangry.
- 25:05Speaker 1: Do you think this is just a reflection of what
- 25:07Speaker 1: Fashion Week has turned into? What, an event for poses?
- 25:10Speaker 2: I think it's always been that, to be fair.
- 25:12Speaker 1: But I think what's happening now is that the space
- 25:15Speaker 1: is being infiltrated by influencers who perhaps are too young
- 25:20Speaker 1: to be appreciative and respect those who have been in
- 25:23Speaker 1: the industry, who are out there showcasing amazing outfits. the
- 25:27Speaker 1: discussion we've had recently, Sophie, with some of our clients
- 25:30Speaker 1: about events, you need to have an equal amount of
- 25:33Speaker 1: influencers there and also industry folk and also journalists, because
- 25:37Speaker 1: what a lot of our clients have found is they'll
- 25:39Speaker 1: hold events and the feedback is that no one really
- 25:42Speaker 1: wants to talk to the influencers because they don't really
- 25:45Speaker 1: give people much.
- 25:46Speaker 2: Well, it's not even that they don't want to talk
- 25:47Speaker 2: to them.
- 25:48Speaker 1: It's that a lot of the influencer groups are very clicky.
- 25:51Speaker 1: And I think it comes probably with the job, because
- 25:54Speaker 1: if you think about the job of an influencer, you're
- 25:56Speaker 1: at home.
- 25:57Speaker 2: Obsessing over yourself.
- 25:58Speaker 1: Well, I say that in the sense of you're uploading
- 26:00Speaker 1: content about yourself.
- 26:01Speaker 2: It's very insular.
- 26:02Speaker 1: Maybe they don't have the skills necessarily to be confident
- 26:05Speaker 1: and speak to people outside of their circles. Now, while
- 26:08Speaker 1: it seemed like every influencer and their dog was invited
- 26:12Speaker 1: to Australian Fashion Week, there was a select group who
- 26:15Speaker 1: were allegedly barred from attending. So a source told the
- 26:18Speaker 1: Daily Mail Australia that controversial couple Tori Adams and Jack
- 26:23Speaker 1: Dunkley were among the blacklisted maths contestants. So A source
- 26:27Speaker 1: was quoted as saying, the designers want nothing to do
- 26:30Speaker 1: with fame-hungry Mavs stars desperate to be seen at Fashion Week. Now,
- 26:34Speaker 1: other blacklisted stars included Ben Walters, Ellie Dix, Jonathan McAloy
- 26:39Speaker 1: and Collins Christian. That follows on from the Logies banning
- 26:43Speaker 1: Mavs contestants as well. Well, I can kind of see
- 26:46Speaker 1: why because they're already copping flat from finding all of
- 26:49Speaker 1: these Instagram models and you don't need these reality stars
- 26:53Speaker 1: causing drama as well.
- 26:55Speaker 2: A lot of people said you just did it for clicks.
- 26:58Speaker 9: Well, I have a YouTube channel called Piers Morgan Uncensored
- 27:01Speaker 9: and I want people to click on it. Yeah, shock horror.
- 27:05Speaker 1: The real-life woman who inspired the hit Netflix show Baby
- 27:08Speaker 1: Reindeer is now demanding £ 1. 25 million from Piers Morgan. Fiona
- 27:14Speaker 1: Harvey says she was offered just £ 250 for her exclusive
- 27:19Speaker 1: interview which aired on Piers Morgan's YouTube channel and has
- 27:22Speaker 1: since racked up more than 11 million views. Now, I
- 27:25Speaker 1: noticed that you said she was offered 250 pounds. Does
- 27:29Speaker 1: that mean she was eventually paid it after the interview?
- 27:31Speaker 2: Well, she told the.
- 27:31Speaker 1: Daily Record that she turned down the cash offer and
- 27:35Speaker 1: is now instead seeking over a million pounds in payment.
- 27:38Speaker 1: I don't think you can do that once you've done
- 27:39Speaker 1: the interview.
- 27:40Speaker 7: No.
- 27:40Speaker 1: Bargaining is done before you.
- 27:42Speaker 2: Sit down and do the interview.
- 27:44Speaker 1: Oh, I've decided that that interview is actually worth a
- 27:46Speaker 1: million pounds now. Well, she gave the quote saying, they
- 27:49Speaker 1: offered me 250 pounds and I asked if that was
- 27:52Speaker 1: what they paid everyone. And if so, I wanted to
- 27:55Speaker 1: see documentation to that effect. The documentation has not been forthcoming.
- 27:59Speaker 1: I have not signed a contract for the interview and
- 28:02Speaker 1: I'll be seeking far more than a piddly 250 pounds.
- 28:06Speaker 1: I'd settle for a million dollars. Wait a sec. Isn't
- 28:08Speaker 1: she a lawyer? Shouldn't she realize that if she has
- 28:11Speaker 1: no contract with the network, there is no way she's
- 28:14Speaker 1: going to now suddenly get.
- 28:15Speaker 2: Paid a million pounds.
- 28:16Speaker 1: And that's after the work's been done.
- 28:17Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 28:17Speaker 1: You've already done the interview. You can't negotiate after you've
- 28:20Speaker 1: done what they wanted you to do. Now, Piers recently
- 28:23Speaker 1: did appear on British Morning Show Lorraine and said this
- 28:27Speaker 1: about Fiona's demands.
- 28:29Speaker 2: What was she like?
- 28:30Speaker 6: I mean, you know, behind the scenes, when she came in,
- 28:33Speaker 6: and you know she wants a million pounds off you.
- 28:34Speaker 9: I do. Is that going to happen? No, she's not
- 28:37Speaker 9: going to get a million pounds. She's not going to
- 28:38Speaker 9: get a million pounds. What she wants is an agent.
- 28:40Speaker 9: But actually, no, we give her the same amount we give,
- 28:42Speaker 9: I would say, 95% of all our guests. And we
- 28:46Speaker 9: don't discuss terms, but we paid her to have a
- 28:48Speaker 9: nice haircut and a car and everything else. I think
- 28:50Speaker 9: we've performed our duty of care. We've stayed in touch
- 28:52Speaker 9: with her since. And she's given some lively, provocative interviews.
- 28:56Speaker 9: But when she came to the studio, she was actually
- 28:58Speaker 9: relatively normal. I didn't get any sign of somebody who
- 29:01Speaker 9: I thought was mentally unwell.
- 29:04Speaker 1: It's pretty funny because Pierce has actually had to come
- 29:06Speaker 1: out and clarify that he wasn't really aware of how
- 29:10Speaker 1: big Baby Reindeer was and had to be persuaded to
- 29:12Speaker 1: have Fiona on the show in the first place. Do
- 29:16Speaker 1: you think that's correct? Because he's copping a lot of
- 29:19Speaker 1: flack for allowing her to be on his show. Is
- 29:22Speaker 1: this his way of backtracking and being like, oh, I
- 29:24Speaker 1: had no idea who she was? It's not his way
- 29:26Speaker 1: of backtracking. I think he was just one of those
- 29:27Speaker 1: people who hadn't happened to have watched the show yet
- 29:30Speaker 1: because he said that he is so relieved that his
- 29:32Speaker 1: staff talked him into it because it's the biggest thing
- 29:35Speaker 1: he's ever been involved in. And maybe that's why initially
- 29:39Speaker 1: he didn't offer her a huge amount of money because
- 29:42Speaker 1: Maybe he didn't realize how big it was for him
- 29:45Speaker 1: to get her on the show. Yeah, but he's not
- 29:46Speaker 1: the one that would be dealing with the negotiations. The
- 29:49Speaker 1: whole team would have negotiated with her and they clearly
- 29:52Speaker 1: have struck up a pretty good deal for them only
- 29:54Speaker 1: having paid her 250 pounds. See, I think that this
- 29:57Speaker 1: is a whole lot of shit and he definitely knew
- 29:59Speaker 1: who he was dealing with and that they worked really
- 30:02Speaker 1: hard to persuade her to get her on the show.
- 30:04Speaker 1: It's a massive win for them.
- 30:06Speaker 2: I just feel.
- 30:06Speaker 1: Uncomfortable that she is now demanding this money and I
- 30:10Speaker 1: don't think it makes her look any.
- 30:12Speaker 2: Better in the grand scheme of things.
- 30:14Speaker 1: Well, she wasn't really looking very good off the back
- 30:16Speaker 1: of the interview. I think this has only continued to
- 30:18Speaker 1: discredit her and make her look very money hungry, particularly
- 30:22Speaker 1: because she is suing for defamation. But is it just
- 30:24Speaker 1: to get more attention? Is this just to create more headlines?
- 30:28Speaker 1: Because anybody would look at that and go, you obviously
- 30:31Speaker 1: are not entitled to a million pounds.
- 30:33Speaker 2: It just seems ridiculous. I just think her story doesn't
- 30:35Speaker 2: add up.
- 30:36Speaker 1: It seems like she really is using this Martha character
- 30:40Speaker 1: to her advantage, which really goes against the whole lawsuit
- 30:43Speaker 1: for saying, oh, I've been defamed because you are now
- 30:46Speaker 1: trying to make all this money out of it.
- 30:48Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 30:48Speaker 1: I think that's what's probably happened that she's had people
- 30:51Speaker 1: reach out to her and say, do you realize how
- 30:52Speaker 1: much money you could have made off that interview?
- 30:55Speaker 2: And you've just screwed yourself over.
- 30:56Speaker 1: Since the interview, as we touched on last week, a
- 30:58Speaker 1: lot of people have been putting memes out saying that
- 31:01Speaker 1: Piers better watch his back because Fiona's after him next.
- 31:05Speaker 1: He was quizzed on The Morning Show about whether he
- 31:07Speaker 1: was fearful of that scenario playing out.
- 31:10Speaker 2: Here's what he said.
- 31:10Speaker 9: I've interviewed serial killers, psychopaths. I've interviewed people who have
- 31:15Speaker 9: done terrible things. She's not one of those. So I've
- 31:18Speaker 9: had far scarier environments in which I've interviewed people. I
- 31:21Speaker 9: felt it was important that she would be allowed to
- 31:23Speaker 9: have her say because she'd already been revealed by the
- 31:26Speaker 9: media as the real-life Martha, but she had no ability
- 31:29Speaker 9: to tell her story.
- 31:31Speaker 1: Piers has been playing it quite well in the media
- 31:34Speaker 1: because you can see he's trying to push the agenda
- 31:37Speaker 1: that one, you know, they did the right thing in
- 31:40Speaker 1: providing her with a voice and two, saying that when
- 31:42Speaker 1: she came in, she didn't appear to be mentally unwell.
- 31:45Speaker 1: You can see he's subtly trying to push that rhetoric
- 31:47Speaker 1: that they did the right thing. I really want to
- 31:49Speaker 1: know when Richard Gadd is going to break his silence
- 31:52Speaker 1: about this interview because He was interviewed before Fiona's exclusive
- 31:57Speaker 1: was aired and he was asked if he'd been following
- 32:00Speaker 1: how Fiona Harvey had been outed as being the real
- 32:03Speaker 1: life Martha. He did dodge the question saying, I can't
- 32:06Speaker 1: confirm or deny anything relating to the real life people
- 32:10Speaker 1: who the characters.
- 32:11Speaker 2: Are based on in the show.
- 32:12Speaker 1: I know for every single part, there's been about five
- 32:14Speaker 1: or six people who have been sort of named as
- 32:17Speaker 1: each part, even all the way down to the pub manager. Now,
- 32:20Speaker 1: during that same interview, he also urged internet sleuths to
- 32:23Speaker 1: stop looking for the show's real life counterparts. He said,
- 32:26Speaker 1: if I wanted the real life people to be found,
- 32:29Speaker 1: I would have made it a documentary. He continued saying,
- 32:32Speaker 1: I wanted the show to be received as a piece
- 32:34Speaker 1: of art. It exists in a sort of fictional realm,
- 32:37Speaker 1: even though it's based on truth. Let's enjoy the world
- 32:40Speaker 1: that I've created. But yet it's advertised as a real
- 32:42Speaker 1: story on Netflix.
- 32:44Speaker 2: Well, that is a confusing thing, saying it's in a
- 32:45Speaker 2: fictional realm.
- 32:47Speaker 1: Well, I think that's all we've got time for today.
- 32:49Speaker 1: Thank you so much for listening to another episode of Outspoken.
