- 2:25Dayna Roselli: Can you believe it?
- 2:26Dayna Roselli: 160 episodes.
- 2:27Sean McAllister: I know.
- 2:28Sean McAllister: I was just talking with someone the other night uh who listens to the podcast regularly, and she was like, Oh my gosh, I can't believe you guys are coming up on episode 160.
- 2:38Sean McAllister: You've been doing this for so long now.
- 2:40Sean McAllister: I know we have.
- 2:42Dayna Roselli: What is it?
- 2:42Dayna Roselli: Is this year four?
- 2:44Sean McAllister: This is year four, yeah.
- 2:45Dayna Roselli: 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023.
- 2:51Dayna Roselli: Yeah, year four.
- 2:52Sean McAllister: It's crazy.
- 2:53Dayna Roselli: Well, we can count.
- 2:55Dayna Roselli: I know.
- 2:56Sean McAllister: It's like the podcast is a toddler now.
- 2:58Dayna Roselli: Oh my gosh.
- 2:59Dayna Roselli: Well, listen, we have tons of information coming up.
- 3:02Dayna Roselli: I have a whole like slideshow booklet up on my computer.
- 3:06Dayna Roselli: I'm ready to go with a bunch of factoids coming up in a little bit.
- 3:09Sean McAllister: Charts, graphs, numbers.
- 3:10Sean McAllister: You won't be able to see any of it, but we'll talk about it.
- 3:13Dayna Roselli: I know.
- 3:13Dayna Roselli: Somebody asked the other day, do you guys edit your podcast?
- 3:15Dayna Roselli: I'm like, eh a little, but not too much anymore.
- 3:18Dayna Roselli: We kind of just go with it, right?
- 3:19Sean McAllister: Yeah, go with the flow, see where it takes us.
- 3:22Dayna Roselli: We haven't had any complaints.
- 3:23Sean McAllister: So you can tell by the number of tangents we go on during any given topic.
- 3:27Sean McAllister: We try to always bring it back around.
- 3:29Dayna Roselli: That's so true.
- 3:30Dayna Roselli: Hey, we've had a lot of messages this week, which I appreciate, like random people that we didn't know listen, just reaching out, asking questions, also uh just complimenting the podcast.
- 3:40Dayna Roselli: So we appreciate that.
- 3:42Dayna Roselli: We did get a pretty big response on the discussion we had last week about the tax threshold going up for slot machine winnings.
- 3:52Sean McAllister: Right.
- 3:52Sean McAllister: This is a proposal by uh one of our uh Nevada Congress members, Dina Titus, um, proposing that that threshold raise from twelve hundred dollars to five thousand because it hasn't changed since like the 70s.
- 4:08Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 4:09Dayna Roselli: And so, you know, a lot of people were asking, like, oh, does that state taxes, federal, all this stuff?
- 4:14Dayna Roselli: And it's like, it's gotta be federal because we don't even have state taxes in Nevada.
- 4:17Dayna Roselli: I didn't know if people know that.
- 4:18Dayna Roselli: Oh, I'm gonna go off on a tangent about Nevada in a little bit.
- 4:21Dayna Roselli: Okay.
- 4:21Dayna Roselli: Okay.
- 4:22Dayna Roselli: Um, but first, you know, uh, we just wanted you to know that we're gonna stay on top of that because you seem interested in it.
- 4:27Dayna Roselli: And whenever you guys express interest in a topic, we'll continue to keep up on it.
- 4:32Sean McAllister: But there are some people uh recently who would probably have uh liked to have that proposal go through as new policy.
- 4:43Sean McAllister: Uh, because if you're gambling, it's fun to do it, it's more fun to do it as a pair or a group, especially when you are winning as a pair or a group.
- 4:56Dayna Roselli: Now, yeah, because I usually watch a friend play, but I stand behind them.
- 5:02Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 5:02Dayna Roselli: Because I feel like it makes it last longer.
- 5:04Dayna Roselli: Like if I watch you for a little while, then you go watch me.
- 5:07Dayna Roselli: Well, this couple over at the Rampart Casino in the northwest part of Las Vegas, one sitting side by side, they won Sean$100,000 combined.
- 5:22Dayna Roselli: One of them hit$87,240 on a jackpot.
- 5:28Dayna Roselli: The other won$13,048, adding up to more than$100,000, a big win last Saturday.
- 5:37Dayna Roselli: So, I mean, what a Saturday night.
- 5:39Sean McAllister: That's a good weekend, right there.
- 5:40Dayna Roselli: Right?
- 5:41Dayna Roselli: They were playing one dollar hands of four-card kino.
- 5:44Dayna Roselli: I've never played that.
- 5:46Sean McAllister: Uh, my husband Shane plays Kino.
- 5:48Sean McAllister: Okay.
- 5:49Sean McAllister: Loves it.
- 5:49Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 5:50Dayna Roselli: Well, anyway, uh, congratulations to them.
- 5:52Dayna Roselli: They wanted to remain anonymous.
- 5:53Dayna Roselli: I don't blame them.
- 5:55Dayna Roselli: So, you know, that's a good night for that couple.
- 5:58Sean McAllister: But man.
- 5:59Dayna Roselli: If you can't get along after that, I don't know.
- 6:02Sean McAllister: Right?
- 6:02Sean McAllister: I mean, that's a reason to celebrate.
- 6:04Sean McAllister: My gosh.
- 6:05Sean McAllister: But that is uh, it shows it definitely pays to have a gambling buddy, right?
- 6:11Dayna Roselli: Yep, it definitely does if you're winning, especially.
- 6:14Dayna Roselli: Hey, my quick Nevada tangent.
- 6:16Dayna Roselli: Yes, we gotta get on Mark Wahlberg.
- 6:18Dayna Roselli: He has moved here to Las Vegas, he's lived here a while now, and still in his Instagram videos, he's calling it Nevada, and it's bothering me.
- 6:29Sean McAllister: I know you called you called him out for it, and not only him, but uh other people who call it Nevada.
- 6:36Sean McAllister: Right.
- 6:36Sean McAllister: It is Nevada is the correct way to pronounce our state's name, Nevada.
- 6:42Sean McAllister: Yeah, a lot of people uh don't call it that, and that's okay.
- 6:46Dayna Roselli: If you're new here, you wouldn't know, right?
- 6:48Dayna Roselli: But I feel like eventually, after a while, somebody needs to tell you.
- 6:51Dayna Roselli: And that's my point.
- 6:52Dayna Roselli: Like nobody in his team, none of his friends, nobody that lives here is telling him.
- 6:55Sean McAllister: Well, listen, we may have a chance to uh coming up here in the next couple weeks.
- 7:00Sean McAllister: So, you know, we'll if that happens, we'll let you know.
- 7:04Sean McAllister: For sure.
- 7:04Dayna Roselli: All right, let's dive into this study.
- 7:07Dayna Roselli: Are you ready?
- 7:07Dayna Roselli: It's a new study out, um, and it it has to do with 2022 in Las Vegas.
- 7:13Dayna Roselli: It's a visitor profile study, and our LVCVA, the visitors authority, actually like releases the results of the studies, you know, when when that when it's complete.
- 7:24Dayna Roselli: So we're in 2023 now, so now we have the 2022 data.
- 7:27Sean McAllister: Yeah, and this is an annual study.
- 7:29Sean McAllister: We get this kind of information every single year, and it really gives us a good idea of how Las Vegas visitors are spending their time, spending their money, how they're planning for their trips to Las Vegas, uh, the length of time that they're spending here in Las Vegas.
- 7:48Sean McAllister: It really is some uh interesting information, and there's a ton that is packed into this report.
- 7:56Sean McAllister: Um, I think there were like 30-something pages.
- 8:00Sean McAllister: We're not gonna go through every single one of those pages and every piece of uh information, but we've kind of gone through and picked out some of the information we thought was interesting and uh information we thought that you might be interested in as well.
- 8:14Dayna Roselli: Yeah, something that that stuck out right away is the um strong satisfaction of Las Vegas.
- 8:20Dayna Roselli: And I love this.
- 8:21Dayna Roselli: More than three quarters, 77% of our visitors in 2022 said that they were very satisfied with their visit.
- 8:31Dayna Roselli: That's up from 70% in 2021, while one in five, 20%, said they were somewhat satisfied.
- 8:38Dayna Roselli: Only 3% of the visitors were dissatisfied with their visit.
- 8:42Dayna Roselli: So I feel like that is an incredible report card.
- 8:45Sean McAllister: That is, right?
- 8:47Dayna Roselli: I mean, you know, very satisfied.
- 8:49Dayna Roselli: Great, we'll take it.
- 8:51Dayna Roselli: That means it'll be back.
- 8:52Sean McAllister: Yeah, absolutely.
- 8:53Sean McAllister: Um, something else that we found pretty interesting is uh when it comes to convention visitors, you know, obviously we've talked over the past few years how the convention business is is rebounding after, you know, the big shutdown.
- 9:10Sean McAllister: Um, and it's really come back very strong.
- 9:14Sean McAllister: Um, but it turns out uh visitors, convention visitors in 2022 uh ended up extending uh their vacation here or extending their business trip by a few days so that they could add some leisure time in there.
- 9:29Sean McAllister: As a matter of fact, 58% of convention visitors uh extended uh their business trip so that they could have some, you know, personal time here in Las Vegas to, you know, take advantage of everything that we have here, and that's up over 10%, uh 14% actually, from just a year before in 2021, which I feel like almost 15% is a big jump.
- 9:58Sean McAllister: Definitely.
- 9:59Dayna Roselli: I mean, it's interesting, right?
- 10:00Dayna Roselli: And it because that's part of the reason that a lot of people like to have their conventions in Las Vegas, and I think why we attract conventions is because they know they'll get a good turnout.
- 10:11Dayna Roselli: So many people want to visit Las Vegas.
- 10:13Dayna Roselli: And that was actually something else in the study.
- 10:15Dayna Roselli: I don't have the exact number, but I know a lot of people said they said one of the big standout things was they would prefer to go to a convention in Las Vegas more than they would in any other city.
- 10:25Dayna Roselli: So that was, you know, interesting and it makes sense because you're here.
- 10:29Dayna Roselli: Think about it, your flight or your drive, you only have to do it once because then convention's over.
- 10:34Dayna Roselli: Okay, now you go lay by the pool, go see some shows, go to dinner, and make a vacation out of it without having to travel again, you know, by air or car.
- 10:45Dayna Roselli: So it makes a lot of sense.
- 10:47Sean McAllister: Well, and speaking of, you know, car travel, uh, one of the things that we were surprised by is that 44% of Vegas visitors get around town using their own vehicle.
- 11:00Sean McAllister: Isn't that interesting?
- 11:01Sean McAllister: I mean, so that accounts for I I mean, obviously, those are people who have driven into town from, you know, cities, states in the surrounding area, probably a big bunch from Southern California, Arizona, Utah.
- 11:16Sean McAllister: Um, but you know, there are people from further away who drive in as well, but that is a significant number.
- 11:23Dayna Roselli: I think we were so, you know, you and I when we were chatting, we were really surprised by that one.
- 11:27Dayna Roselli: I went, their own vehicle.
- 11:28Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 11:28Dayna Roselli: So that means they have to drive here.
- 11:30Sean McAllister: Right.
- 11:30Dayna Roselli: So we have a huge amount of traffic coming in by car.
- 11:36Dayna Roselli: And then does it doesn't it take a huge drop?
- 11:39Dayna Roselli: Um well, no, getting around it takes a huge drop to taxis, but so that's 44% user-owned vehicle, 40% use ride share, right?
- 11:48Dayna Roselli: Close to that, but then it takes a huge drop.
- 11:51Dayna Roselli: But only 14% use taxis.
- 11:54Sean McAllister: Which I mean, that was pretty shocking to me because I mean, for years the taxi industry here was just massive.
- 12:05Sean McAllister: I mean, there were there was a stronghold on you know, the transportation industry by taxis.
- 12:12Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 12:12Dayna Roselli: And now they've started charging, I think, a flat rate from the airport to the strip, um, which has helped taxi service.
- 12:20Dayna Roselli: A lot of people like me actually say, Oh, I'm just gonna take a taxi from the airport now.
- 12:25Dayna Roselli: I have to pay a little more because I'm not right on the strip to get to my high rise.
- 12:28Dayna Roselli: But um, so I thought like taxi business has kind of come up.
- 12:32Dayna Roselli: Plus, like after COVID and everything, there were so many people that weren't driving Ubers anymore.
- 12:37Dayna Roselli: And right, you know, they were having a hard time finding drivers.
- 12:40Dayna Roselli: Then, you know, where you had to get your ride share, like at the airport or pick, it was all congested, and people were like, you know what, I'm just gonna start using taxi again.
- 12:48Dayna Roselli: So I'm shocked only 14% use taxis.
- 12:51Sean McAllister: Yeah, and it shows you the uh significant market share that's been eaten up by rideshare services.
- 12:58Sean McAllister: Um, and really now I understand why uh the taxicab authority was pushing so hard against allowing rideshare services here to begin with.
- 13:09Sean McAllister: Um, but you know, that's it's what people do.
- 13:13Sean McAllister: That's how we get around these days.
- 13:15Sean McAllister: So there's no really avoiding it.
- 13:17Dayna Roselli: Um, I didn't touch on this at the top, room rates, and I thought this was an interesting one.
- 13:22Dayna Roselli: The average spend per night on lodging here in Las Vegas last year was$154.06.
- 13:29Dayna Roselli: Okay, so that's per night.
- 13:31Dayna Roselli: It's non-compt visitors, you know, not also not part of a package or anything.
- 13:35Dayna Roselli: This is a hotel stay per night.
- 13:38Dayna Roselli: So$154 is the average.
- 13:41Dayna Roselli: Um, it was the average in 2022.
- 13:44Dayna Roselli: But get this in 2021, it was only 108.
- 13:48Dayna Roselli: Then you think, okay, we were kind of recovering right after 2020.
- 13:52Dayna Roselli: But even in 2017, 2018, and 2019, the average was around$114.
- 13:58Dayna Roselli: Oh, wow.
- 13:59Dayna Roselli: So even from back then, so we're at$154 a night for an average hotel stay.
- 14:04Dayna Roselli: I mean, talk about inflation.
- 14:06Sean McAllister: Well, and I mean, yeah, I'll be interested uh this time next year to see what the report says because with events uh you know, like having Super Bowl and with Formula One, um, I those massive events really do drive up room rate.
- 14:24Sean McAllister: So it'll be interesting to see the impact that it has on that uh room rate average when next year's report comes out.
- 14:32Sean McAllister: Um the reason for people coming to Las Vegas, this also kind of surprised me a little bit.
- 14:40Sean McAllister: Although now that I think about it a little bit more, maybe, maybe not.
- 14:43Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 14:44Sean McAllister: But um just talking about special events when people are coming to Las Vegas for a special event, birthdays are the number one reason, which I'm guessing maybe 21st birthdays might be another milestone.
- 14:58Sean McAllister: Birthdays might be the reason um that really drives that up.
- 15:02Sean McAllister: But really, I mean, I guess if you're celebrating a birthday, there's no better place to do it than right here in Las Vegas.
- 15:08Dayna Roselli: Yeah, I guess, you know, more people have birthdays rather than a bachelor party.
- 15:15Dayna Roselli: You know, your bachelor, bachelorette, you have one.
- 15:17Dayna Roselli: You're supposed to have one, maybe one.
- 15:21Dayna Roselli: I've had one before.
- 15:22Dayna Roselli: Um, but uh yeah, so 48% of people say when it comes to special occasions, it's a birthday.
- 15:31Dayna Roselli: Under that, anniversary and a romantic getaway came in at 17%.
- 15:36Sean McAllister: Yeah, so it's a significant drop for birthdays there.
- 15:39Dayna Roselli: Wedding 10%, bachelor, bachelorette party, 8%, family reunion 6%, concert or sporting event 5%.
- 15:46Dayna Roselli: Pretty seems low.
- 15:47Sean McAllister: Yeah, I bet that's gonna jump up too.
- 15:49Dayna Roselli: Yeah, and then spacation came in at 4%.
- 15:53Dayna Roselli: So nobody just takes a vacation.
- 15:55Sean McAllister: Yeah, just because they should have called that section just because.
- 15:58Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 15:59Dayna Roselli: So interesting.
- 16:00Dayna Roselli: So keep that in mind.
- 16:01Dayna Roselli: I say, like all our restaurants and our nightclub, they need to keep in mind cater to the birthday.
- 16:08Sean McAllister: Yes, right?
- 16:08Sean McAllister: Absolutely.
- 16:09Dayna Roselli: Oh, there's so many other little factoids in here.
- 16:11Dayna Roselli: Here's the deal.
- 16:12Dayna Roselli: We're gonna put a link to the study, and it's a very pretty study, by the way.
- 16:16Sean McAllister: It is, they do a nice job laying it out.
- 16:18Dayna Roselli: Yeah, really nicely laid out.
- 16:19Dayna Roselli: I'll put it in our show notes so everyone can see it, and you can scroll through.
- 16:23Dayna Roselli: I think you'll find it very interesting.
- 16:25Sean McAllister: Excellent.
- 16:26Sean McAllister: Uh, we found it interesting.
- 16:27Sean McAllister: We hope that that you do as well.
- 16:29Sean McAllister: Something not so interesting, but more scary that happened on the Las Vegas strip, uh, just within the the past few days.
- 16:37Sean McAllister: Extreme illusionist David Blaine.
- 16:39Sean McAllister: We've talked about his show over at Resorts World.
- 16:43Sean McAllister: He had a medical emergency on stage uh in front of an entire theater full of people who were there to see him.
- 16:53Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 16:54Dayna Roselli: We always say his show is different from any other magic show because you almost feel like it's like you're at a show, but you're also kind of just like sitting there watching a live event where you kind of don't know which way things are gonna go.
- 17:09Dayna Roselli: Kind of like David Blaine's normal street magic that he does and Times Square and the specials that we've seen.
- 17:14Dayna Roselli: Anyway, he does a jump, and we've talked about it before as well.
- 17:17Dayna Roselli: What is it, nine stories?
- 17:18Dayna Roselli: I think it's nine.
- 17:19Sean McAllister: I think so.
- 17:20Sean McAllister: Something like that.
- 17:20Dayna Roselli: Something like it's tall into like a bunch of cardboard boxes, and you watch him up there getting ready to take the leap, and it kind of there's a lot of anticipation and like from the ceiling of the theater.
- 17:32Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 17:33Dayna Roselli: He jumps and he dislocated his shoulder recently, and basically the whole crowd got to just literally watch him go through this medical emergency with you know, people trying to pop his shoulder back in, adjust his shoulder.
- 17:50Dayna Roselli: He was laying on the stage.
- 17:51Dayna Roselli: He shared all this video.
- 17:52Dayna Roselli: Other people shared it first that were actually there and shooting it.
- 17:56Dayna Roselli: But a lot of people also said, Is this a stunt?
- 17:58Dayna Roselli: It's like, no, I mean, this was bound to happen, I think.
- 18:01Dayna Roselli: We were there, and he put the nail in his nose, right?
- 18:04Dayna Roselli: And then he couldn't get it out.
- 18:06Dayna Roselli: And he was calling, remember, he was like, give me a bigger magnet because they brought him out this little like shabby magnet.
- 18:12Sean McAllister: Like this little puny magnet thing.
- 18:14Sean McAllister: He needed like an industrial thing to get that steel out of his nose.
- 18:19Dayna Roselli: Well, he did um put out a press release, and in it it says my Las Vegas residency is filled with many of my favorite acts that I love and magic and stunts that push me beyond my limits.
- 18:28Dayna Roselli: Even though I've trained much of my entire life, there is an implicit danger when you are pushing yourself to make possible what feels impossible.
- 18:36Dayna Roselli: Saturday night, he dislocated his shoulder.
- 18:38Dayna Roselli: Oh, eight-story.
- 18:39Dayna Roselli: I could have read it right here.
- 18:40Dayna Roselli: Eight-story, it jumped the height of an eight-story building into cardboard boxes.
- 18:44Dayna Roselli: He says, luckily, there were actually four orthopedic doctors in the audience, along with his EMS team who came up, took great care of him.
- 18:52Dayna Roselli: He's humbled by the encouragement, and he will be back April 28th and 29th.
- 18:56Dayna Roselli: Is there a doctor in the house?
- 18:59Dayna Roselli: Can you imagine you're there watching a Vegas show?
- 19:02Dayna Roselli: Think you're, you know, you got your beer in your hand.
- 19:04Sean McAllister: I mean, you better get free drinks the rest of the night after that, right?
- 19:09Dayna Roselli: Who knew?
- 19:10Sean McAllister: Jeez, but really that gives you a sense of uh what you're in for and the kind of tension that you feel as you sit in the audience and watch David Blaine's uh show over at Resorts World.
- 19:24Dayna Roselli: Yeah, I mean it's not a fast-paced show, you're there with this audience watching everything unfold.
- 19:31Dayna Roselli: That's what makes it so different.
- 19:32Sean McAllister: It is.
- 19:33Dayna Roselli: And we said when he started that we knew he would extend, and he did, and I have a feeling he'll possibly extend again if he well, he might need a vacation.
- 19:44Sean McAllister: Yeah, maybe some time off wouldn't be the worst thing.
- 19:47Sean McAllister: But you know, we called that with David Blaine.
- 19:50Sean McAllister: We also called a residency extension for Keith Urban, who we recently saw.
- 19:57Dayna Roselli: And guess what?
- 19:58Sean McAllister: It just happened.
- 20:00Dayna Roselli: We should be like Vegas mind readers, right?
- 20:03Dayna Roselli: Uh, we told you we saw Keith Urban um over at Planet Hollywood, and he did extend.
- 20:09Dayna Roselli: He was coming back, so he's here through March.
- 20:11Dayna Roselli: He's coming back in June, and then he's performing on July 1st, too.
- 20:15Dayna Roselli: But now he has extended through November.
- 20:18Dayna Roselli: So excited to have Keith stick around for a while.
- 20:20Dayna Roselli: Saw him and Nicole Kidman on TV at the Oscars, and I was thinking he's one of our headliners.
- 20:26Dayna Roselli: You know, it was nice to see the Vegas touch in the uh, you know, in the audience at the Oscars anyway.
- 20:31Sean McAllister: Yeah, well, speaking of, of course, uh Vegas' own Jimmy Kimmel.
- 20:34Sean McAllister: A lot of people don't know that he grew up here in Las Vegas.
- 20:38Sean McAllister: Uh, did a great job hosting.
- 20:40Dayna Roselli: I know.
- 20:40Dayna Roselli: I told you going into it, I was like, I'm unsure, you know, because Jimmy's been a little controversial over the last got a little political.
- 20:46Dayna Roselli: This I was like, I don't know, is he the right one?
- 20:47Dayna Roselli: But he's on ABC, they're airing on ABC.
- 20:50Dayna Roselli: But you and I were texting back and forth back and forth, and we were like, he is doing an excellent job.
- 20:55Dayna Roselli: I mean, he's knocking it out of the park.
- 20:57Sean McAllister: I thought it was one of the best uh Academy Award ceremonies that there has been in several years.
- 21:03Sean McAllister: Right.
- 21:04Sean McAllister: I really enjoyed it.
- 21:05Dayna Roselli: Except we we both can admit we fast forwarded on the DVR because we started at a little wait.
- 21:12Sean McAllister: Oh, well, yeah.
- 21:12Dayna Roselli: Late through some of the slow parts.
- 21:14Sean McAllister: That's what I did.
- 21:15Sean McAllister: I started it about a half hour late.
- 21:17Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 21:18Sean McAllister: Um, and then yeah, when there were categories that I was like, eh.
- 21:23SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 21:23Sean McAllister: Just zip right through those.
- 21:25Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 21:25Sean McAllister: But then pretty soon I was caught up and, you know, live tweeting along with everybody else.
- 21:31Dayna Roselli: Exactly.
- 21:31Dayna Roselli: It was a good show.
- 21:32Dayna Roselli: Really funny.
- 21:33Dayna Roselli: He has his jokes, were right on.
- 21:34Dayna Roselli: I love that he gave Will Smith a hard time.
- 21:36Dayna Roselli: I don't care.
- 21:36Dayna Roselli: I was so happy because I'm like, you know what?
- 21:38Dayna Roselli: I just feel like Will Smith got away with a lot the last year.
- 21:41Dayna Roselli: Yeah after that slap.
- 21:42Dayna Roselli: Like, no, I people gave him a hard time at first, but then, you know, and then Chris Rock just did this special, and now Jimmy really kind of hammered in the uh slap jokes and also hammered in the jokes at how long the Oscars take.
- 21:55Dayna Roselli: Uh, but I thought it was really good.
- 21:57Dayna Roselli: I think you're right.
- 21:58Sean McAllister: Going back to to music.
- 22:00Sean McAllister: Um, you know, if you're not into you know, country music with Keith Urban or pop music with Katy Perry, um something a little different you can find just off the strip at the Alexis Park Resort.
- 22:17Sean McAllister: Uh, we have a Neil Diamond tribute artist who is uh actually pretty popular.
- 22:24Sean McAllister: The show has been going on for a bit now.
- 22:26Dayna Roselli: Yeah, I think he like comes and goes, but he's you know, great his name's Rob Garrett, and he's really known for his tribute act of Neil Diamond in America, it's called.
- 22:35Dayna Roselli: Um, he's returning to town starting March 27th.
- 22:40Dayna Roselli: He'll be performing Monday through Thursdays.
- 22:43Dayna Roselli: And you can go to his website, neildiamondribute.net, where you'll find tickets and some videos of some of his performances.
- 22:52Dayna Roselli: You can see if you'd like to go over and see that.
- 22:54Dayna Roselli: But if you love Neil Diamond music, another we have everything here for everyone.
- 22:58Sean McAllister: We do.
- 22:59Sean McAllister: And uh Rob Garrett, he sounds like Neil Diamond, he looks like Neil Diamond.
- 23:03Dayna Roselli: He does.
- 23:04Dayna Roselli: He really does, right?
- 23:07Sean McAllister: So that's a good alternative um to you know some of the big mega residencies that you see on the Las Vegas strip.
- 23:15Sean McAllister: So we just wanted to bring that to your attention.
- 23:17Sean McAllister: Um, but quite the opposite end of the spectrum from uh from that is Taylor Swift.
- 23:24Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 23:25Dayna Roselli: So we're excited that we are kind of getting the first leg of her tour.
- 23:29Dayna Roselli: Her tour that has had so much publicity.
- 23:31Dayna Roselli: Her latest album is amazing.
- 23:34Dayna Roselli: I love it.
- 23:34Dayna Roselli: I know you loved it.
- 23:35Sean McAllister: As soon as it came out, you were like, oh my gosh, I'm a huge fan, Swifty now.
- 23:39Dayna Roselli: I yeah, like I listened to it yesterday again.
- 23:42Dayna Roselli: Like I just listened to it.
- 23:43Dayna Roselli: Whenever I can't decide what to listen to, I just listen to that album.
- 23:45Dayna Roselli: It's so good.
- 23:46Sean McAllister: And is it because the music, is it because the lyrics are just super relatable, or is it like the the do you bop along to the music?
- 23:54Dayna Roselli: Yeah, I can't explain it.
- 23:55Dayna Roselli: It just, I mean, the lyrics are are relatable in some ways and some not.
- 24:00Dayna Roselli: But it's the way that she lays it out and tells the story that but but just the every song is kind of different, and it it just has some really good parts where it like kind of kicks up and then it goes down.
- 24:15Dayna Roselli: I don't know.
- 24:15Dayna Roselli: It's just it's a great album.
- 24:17Dayna Roselli: It's all of the above, I think.
- 24:19Dayna Roselli: I think relatable, um, there's slow, there's fast.
- 24:22Dayna Roselli: There's parts where you're like, oh my gosh, that reminds me of this, or oh, made me think of that, or oh my gosh, that's so funny.
- 24:27Dayna Roselli: She's telling the truth right there.
- 24:29Dayna Roselli: You know, that kind of thing.
- 24:30Sean McAllister: So are you going to be at the Taylor one of Taylor Swift shows with all the teenagers?
- 24:35Dayna Roselli: No, I didn't get a ticket.
- 24:36Dayna Roselli: I signed up for the pre-fan sale, whatever the heck, verified, whatever, and I didn't get on the list.
- 24:41Dayna Roselli: So I mean, this was the show that sold out like in a snap across the country.
- 24:48Sean McAllister: Well, it's the one that broke Ticketmaster.
- 24:50Dayna Roselli: Broke Ticketmaster.
- 24:52Dayna Roselli: We had one show on sale, Allegiant Stadium.
- 24:54Dayna Roselli: Oh, I just wanted a Legion Stadium.
- 24:57Dayna Roselli: I told you we don't edit.
- 25:00Dayna Roselli: And um, now we have two, and they're both sold out.
- 25:04Dayna Roselli: You can get a ticket on StubHub, but it's pretty pricey.
- 25:07Dayna Roselli: What would be like I think it started at 250, right?
- 25:09Dayna Roselli: 250 for all the way at the top.
- 25:11Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 25:11Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 25:12Dayna Roselli: No, I mean, if you want to splurge, that's not terrible.
- 25:15Sean McAllister: It's not terrible, but that's for one ticket.
- 25:18Sean McAllister: Right.
- 25:18Sean McAllister: That's for one ticket.
- 25:19Sean McAllister: I mean, if there's a parent taking their child, that's gonna be 500 bucks right there, plus fees, plus all plus parking, which also far away parking starts at like 35 bucks and parking right there at Allegiance Stadium.
- 25:35Sean McAllister: Uh, well, it's sold out for the Saturday night show.
- 25:38Sean McAllister: Still at last check, there was some parking um at Allegiance Stadium for Friday, but that's 50 bucks.
- 25:44Dayna Roselli: 50 bucks, yeah.
- 25:45Dayna Roselli: It's gonna be a good one.
- 25:45Sean McAllister: And then if you want, you know, soda popcorn once you get in there.
- 25:48Dayna Roselli: Oh boy, all that.
- 25:49Dayna Roselli: I mean, I think people need to just come down early.
- 25:52Dayna Roselli: Um, maybe ride share, but even that's gonna probably be a little busy if you decide I'm gonna go an hour before the show.
- 25:57Dayna Roselli: No, that's not gonna happen.
- 25:58Dayna Roselli: Show does start at 6:30, and you and I were saying probably because a lot of teenagers are going, not even teenagers, probably like middle schoolers and uh of all ages.
- 26:09Dayna Roselli: Yeah, people love Taylor Swift.
- 26:11Dayna Roselli: And I bet a lot, and and the moms love Taylor Swift too.
- 26:14Dayna Roselli: So it's not even like I have to bring my daughter to Taylor Swift.
- 26:17Dayna Roselli: You probably like Taylor too.
- 26:19Sean McAllister: Exactly.
- 26:19Sean McAllister: Well, I know people who are like we had there are people in our friend circle who are big Taylor Swift fans.
- 26:25Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 26:26Dayna Roselli: I mean, listen, I'm 47.
- 26:27Dayna Roselli: If I had kids, I would be a mom and I would go to Taylor Swift and be thrilled about it.
- 26:32Dayna Roselli: So there you have it.
- 26:34Dayna Roselli: Uh it's March 24th and 25th.
- 26:36Dayna Roselli: Um, it's gonna be very busy.
- 26:37Dayna Roselli: We don't have much uh like we don't have a tip for you there besides get there early and maybe like eat lunch, take a break, and then and then plan to get your popcorn and soda and all that once you get into the stadium.
- 26:48Sean McAllister: Yeah, and it's not Taylor Taylor won't be taking the stage at 6 30.
- 26:52Sean McAllister: There is uh an opening act.
- 26:55Sean McAllister: So the the show goes from 6 30 to 10 30.
- 26:58Sean McAllister: Yeah, I believe.
- 26:59Dayna Roselli: So and we're the second stop.
- 27:00Dayna Roselli: She's going to Arizona, then us.
- 27:02Dayna Roselli: So yeah, I believe Scottsdale first, maybe something like that.
- 27:05Sean McAllister: Somewhere down around Phoenix.
- 27:06Dayna Roselli: And it's the Eras tour.
- 27:07Dayna Roselli: So she's going through all her eras of music.
- 27:09Dayna Roselli: It's gonna be huge.
- 27:10Dayna Roselli: I look forward to seeing everyone's clips from inside um to see what it's gonna be like.
- 27:15Dayna Roselli: I do know some people that are going and are thrilled about it, but everyone keeps thinking, how am I gonna get there?
- 27:19Dayna Roselli: How am I gonna get there?
- 27:20Dayna Roselli: So plan ahead.
- 27:21Sean McAllister: Yeah, so there's Taylor Swift hysteria surrounding her tour.
- 27:25Sean McAllister: Um, and there's also madness surrounding March basketball.
- 27:30Dayna Roselli: Yes.
- 27:31Dayna Roselli: This we have the same tip.
- 27:34Dayna Roselli: Plan ahead, right?
- 27:35Sean McAllister: Plan.
- 27:35Dayna Roselli: Because I was just talking to you about it and I said, What are you doing?
- 27:38Dayna Roselli: Do you have to make reservations?
- 27:40Dayna Roselli: How does it work?
- 27:40Dayna Roselli: And you were filling me in.
- 27:41Dayna Roselli: So go through some of your notes for for people that are coming into town for March Madness.
- 27:45Dayna Roselli: It's like the busiest, what'd you say?
- 27:46Dayna Roselli: Three million people coming to March um Vegas in March, and a lot of it has to do with March Madness.
- 27:52Dayna Roselli: And now we can actually add on Taylor Swift, probably the best.
- 27:55Sean McAllister: We can, exactly.
- 27:56Sean McAllister: Yeah, in on average, there's roughly three million visitors who come through Las Vegas during the month.
- 28:03Sean McAllister: Um, basketball being a major reason why.
- 28:07Sean McAllister: Our sports books are going to be packed.
- 28:11Sean McAllister: The sports bars are going to be packed.
- 28:15Sean McAllister: Um, but a lot of these venues, you can't just like walk up and find a seat.
- 28:21Sean McAllister: It's not like an open seating kind of thing.
- 28:23Sean McAllister: There are a lot of uh places that you'll have to they charge for a ticket to get in.
- 28:30SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 28:30Sean McAllister: Um, and some places that will get you a reserved seat, some places it's open seating, first come, first serve.
- 28:36Sean McAllister: Um but there is generally a cover charge.
- 28:40Sean McAllister: Uh sometimes you can get a package deal where you get uh your cover charge plus uh drinks and food included, but it's all venue by venue.
- 28:53Sean McAllister: So you wanna plan ahead.
- 28:55Sean McAllister: And everywhere, every single property in on the Las Vegas Strip, downtown, is going to have some sort of uh basketball viewing party.
- 29:07Dayna Roselli: Yeah, I clicked on the circa website to see the stadium swim, and I only clicked on one day out of a slew, but it was like already like nothing available.
- 29:14Dayna Roselli: So you have to plan ahead.
- 29:16SPEAKER_02: But you do.
- 29:16Dayna Roselli: But what you were telling me is they actually open ballrooms and stuff.
- 29:20Dayna Roselli: So I thought it was like you either get a seat in the sports book or you're out, but no, they actually create events.
- 29:26Sean McAllister: Okay, so a lot of the the event, the ballrooms are uh turned into massive viewing parties.
- 29:34Sean McAllister: Um, I know there's they have massive screens all the way around, so you don't miss a second of the action.
- 29:41Sean McAllister: I know over at the Westgate, I was talking to our friend uh Gordy, who uh works over there at the Westgate, and they have their hoops central that's uh up and running.
- 29:53Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 29:53Sean McAllister: Uh in addition to the massive race and sports book that they have over there at the Westgate, they turn the international theater into a giant viewing location as well.
- 30:06Sean McAllister: So they have they add a ton of screens inside of there, so you have a a great seat.
- 30:12Sean McAllister: Um, and then there's you know, food and beverage stations all around there.
- 30:17Sean McAllister: There's bedding stations that will be set up around the property, and this it's usually the case for a lot of places.
- 30:24Sean McAllister: Either their uh banquet halls or ballrooms are turned into viewing locations, or their theaters are converted into viewing locations.
- 30:33Sean McAllister: So it really is a fun time.
- 30:35Sean McAllister: You see people going absolutely bonkers when their teams move on, you see people totally gutted when their teams don't move on, you know, and there's bets on the line, and you see emotion tied to that too.
- 30:50Sean McAllister: It really is fun.
- 30:51Dayna Roselli: Okay, and I know you're gonna be heading out to do something.
- 30:53Dayna Roselli: We actually have on the schedule uh Friday, Sean March Madness.
- 30:57Dayna Roselli: So um Sean will be out and about doing that.
- 30:59Dayna Roselli: Um, we obviously post this podcast on a Saturday, so in many ways, you you already did that on Friday.
- 31:05Sean McAllister: Yeah, going over to the South Point.
- 31:06Dayna Roselli: Okay, you'll be at the South Point.
- 31:08Dayna Roselli: That's a good one.
- 31:09Sean McAllister: It is, yeah.
- 31:10Dayna Roselli: And then we're gonna be going to um the Stanton Social Preview over at Caesars Palace, too.
- 31:14Dayna Roselli: So when I see you, it's gonna be a long day of basketball.
- 31:18Sean McAllister: It is Thursday and Friday.
- 31:20Dayna Roselli: Thursday and Friday.
- 31:21Dayna Roselli: Okay, got it.
- 31:22Dayna Roselli: And then next week we do it all over again?
- 31:25Dayna Roselli: What dwindles down?
- 31:26Sean McAllister: Uh so this is the the most action-packed weekend.
- 31:30Sean McAllister: Okay, and then it starts to be narrowed down as the the weeks go on.
- 31:35Sean McAllister: Um, but it's still just as exciting.
- 31:37Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 31:38Dayna Roselli: All right.
- 31:38Dayna Roselli: Well, hey, whatever.
- 31:39Dayna Roselli: We always got something going on.
- 31:41Dayna Roselli: People come in, spend money, enjoy yourself, and um, we'll take it.
- 31:45Dayna Roselli: Our sporting events, we we always say, even though we have sporting events in Las Vegas that bring people in, we also have sporting events that don't take place in Las Vegas, but still bring people in, like March Madness.
- 31:56Sean McAllister: Exactly.
- 31:57Dayna Roselli: And the Super Bowl and Sunday football and all that, and Monday football and Thursday night football and all that.
- 32:02Dayna Roselli: They don't have to play here, but people still come here.
- 32:05Dayna Roselli: So we love it.
- 32:06Sean McAllister: Let's get to some tips.
- 32:11Dayna Roselli: All right, in our tips this week, we said we were gonna try and do a 30-minute podcast.
- 32:14Dayna Roselli: So we're gonna whiz through these.
- 32:16Dayna Roselli: We're already over the we're over the amount that we're supposed to.
- 32:19Dayna Roselli: Okay, but uh, I went to a desert dogs game last weekend, and this is lacrosse, National Lacrosse League, NLL.
- 32:29Dayna Roselli: Um, it's owned by Wayne Gretzky, the team.
- 32:32Dayna Roselli: Um, and I know Shane, your husband, has been before.
- 32:35Dayna Roselli: I had never been.
- 32:35Dayna Roselli: Anyway, it takes place at Mandalay Bay.
- 32:37Dayna Roselli: I wanted to just recommend it as a tip.
- 32:39Dayna Roselli: If you didn't know, we have a lacrosse team in Las Vegas now, indoor lacrosse, box lacrosse.
- 32:45Dayna Roselli: It's at Mandalay Bay, and what a great time it was.
- 32:48Dayna Roselli: And it's perfect for you or your family, uh anything.
- 32:53Dayna Roselli: Like there were tons of kids there and families.
- 32:56Dayna Roselli: It was very busy.
- 32:58Dayna Roselli: It um included, I saw some friends going in.
- 33:00Dayna Roselli: They said, Oh, we have season tickets because um my friend's husband is from Canada.
- 33:05Dayna Roselli: So lacrosse is huge up there, and she's like, We go every game.
- 33:08Dayna Roselli: It's so much fun.
- 33:09Dayna Roselli: They play music.
- 33:10Dayna Roselli: So I couldn't wait to get in.
- 33:11Dayna Roselli: So I got in and they do, they play music the whole game.
- 33:15Dayna Roselli: There was like a chicken wing eating contest, there was like a dodgeball match, like at the break between some like uh retired military and retired uh metro police officers.
- 33:26Dayna Roselli: They have a dance team, cheerleaders.
- 33:29Dayna Roselli: Someone um dropped the ball um like to start the game.
- 33:33Dayna Roselli: I uh it was a radio personality.
- 33:34Dayna Roselli: I believe it was Kayla from 98.5.
- 33:36Dayna Roselli: And then also um they had a Canadian national anthem, an American national anthem.
- 33:41Dayna Roselli: So, I mean, they did not miss a beat with the entertainment and the fun at this lacrosse game.
- 33:47Dayna Roselli: I got a pretzel, some cheese, some Diet Coke, all for like$12.50.
- 33:51Dayna Roselli: Wow.
- 33:52Dayna Roselli: Yeah, so I thought that was a steal.
- 33:53Dayna Roselli: So anyway, I thought it was just an all-around great time, fun night.
- 33:58Dayna Roselli: I ran into a lot of locals, and I thought, great, we have another, another thing that brings people to the Las Vegas strip.
- 34:04Sean McAllister: And you said the arena was packed.
- 34:06Dayna Roselli: It was.
- 34:06Dayna Roselli: It was packed.
- 34:07Dayna Roselli: Now the people I was sitting next to said they won some tickets on the radio, and I think they're doing a big radio push, which makes sense.
- 34:12Dayna Roselli: You get people in, you know, bring them in word of mouth, just like me.
- 34:16Dayna Roselli: I got in for the first time.
- 34:18Dayna Roselli: I met a friend there who had a ticket and he said, Hey, we're going to this game if you're bored.
- 34:21Dayna Roselli: I thought, yeah, I want to, I'll go.
- 34:23Sean McAllister: But now you want to go back.
- 34:24Dayna Roselli: I do want to go back because it was so much fun.
- 34:26Dayna Roselli: And I thought, oh, that would be fun to have season tickets.
- 34:29Dayna Roselli: But um, yeah, it was just a great time.
- 34:31Dayna Roselli: And I looked up the next um game, Sean, and they're playing the Rochester Blackhawks.
- 34:37Dayna Roselli: Oh, yeah.
- 34:38Dayna Roselli: Which is a team from our hometown.
- 34:40Dayna Roselli: So I think Oh, that's great.
- 34:42Dayna Roselli: Oh, sorry, Nighthawks.
- 34:43Sean McAllister: The Nighthawks.
- 34:44Dayna Roselli: Rochester Nighthawks.
- 34:45Dayna Roselli: And I was like, we've had the Nighthawks for a while.
- 34:47Sean McAllister: A long time, yeah.
- 34:48Dayna Roselli: But lacrosse, you know, I don't think isn't as big on the West Coast as it is on the East Coast.
- 34:52Sean McAllister: Because I know all of our high schools had lacrosse.
- 34:54Dayna Roselli: Yep.
- 34:55Dayna Roselli: All the guys that played football always played lacrosse in the offseason and all that kind of thing.
- 34:58Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 34:59Dayna Roselli: So anyway, it's a great time.
- 35:00Dayna Roselli: Uh, get tickets if you want to go have a chill night out, a fun night out, um, easy to get in and out of Mandalay Bay, just go in a little early.
- 35:09Dayna Roselli: Tickets range from about$25 to$99.
- 35:12Sean McAllister: Great.
- 35:12Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 35:12Sean McAllister: Really reasonable.
- 35:14Sean McAllister: Uh, something else we wanted to bring to your attention.
- 35:16Sean McAllister: Um, when you hear about uh residencies or concerts coming to Las Vegas, one of our venues is about to have a big name change.
- 35:26Sean McAllister: Zappos Theater over at Planet Hollywood, where uh we just saw Keith Urban performing, uh, is about to be known as the Backed Theater.
- 35:36Sean McAllister: And this is a new partnership with Caesars Entertainment and Backed Holdings, which is uh essentially a cryptocurrency exchange platform.
- 35:46Dayna Roselli: Yeah, it it's interesting.
- 35:48Dayna Roselli: Um, I just get so used to these names, you know.
- 35:50Dayna Roselli: You hate when anything changes, but um I'll miss it as the Zappos Theater.
- 35:54Dayna Roselli: We don't know when the name change is officially taking place, but backed is B-A-K-K-T, by the way.
- 36:00Dayna Roselli: And already people on Twitter are like, how do you say it?
- 36:03Sean McAllister: So we well, people on the news have been getting it wrong too.
- 36:05Dayna Roselli: They sure have.
- 36:06Dayna Roselli: We were kind of laughing.
- 36:07Dayna Roselli: We're like, we did one Google search and we found out how to say it.
- 36:11Dayna Roselli: It's backed.
- 36:12Sean McAllister: We also saw people say that Chris Angel performs in in the Zappos theater, which he does not.
- 36:17Sean McAllister: He does not.
- 36:18Sean McAllister: He has his own other theater.
- 36:19Dayna Roselli: Sometimes when we research, we find a lot of mistakes on the local news, and we sit back and giggle and go.
- 36:27Sean McAllister: Well, sometimes we don't giggle, we curse a little bit too.
- 36:30Sean McAllister: But we say, hey, we're gonna get it right on Vegas Revealed.
- 36:33Dayna Roselli: We sure are.
- 36:34Dayna Roselli: Yeah, Chris Angel does not perform at the Zappos Theater.
- 36:36Dayna Roselli: Okay, so it's gonna be the back theater.
- 36:38Dayna Roselli: Um apparently, you know, the whole point of this sort of collaboration is to kind of link up the live entertainment aspect with the crypto.
- 36:48Dayna Roselli: I have no idea how it all works, but apparently the there will be maybe a plan that will allow Caesars rewards members the ability to redeem their rewards credits through the backed crypto rewards.
- 37:03Dayna Roselli: So if you understand that world, you know what I'm talking about.
- 37:07Dayna Roselli: That's still pending approval, though.
- 37:09Sean McAllister: Well, how about bringing it full circle?
- 37:12Sean McAllister: Going back to the report that we talked about at the beginning of this episode, uh, one of the major findings is that Vegas visitors are getting younger and younger.
- 37:21Sean McAllister: They are, and the younger crowd is into the crypto.
- 37:24Sean McAllister: So this is something that is going to relate to a lot of our Vegas visitors.
- 37:29Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 37:29Dayna Roselli: We did write to Caesars, too, as we always do.
- 37:32Dayna Roselli: We always check up, and they said they're gonna have more information coming out soon.
- 37:36Sean McAllister: Correct.
- 37:36Dayna Roselli: But that the the name change is happening, we'll know when, what it means, and more details and all that.
- 37:43Dayna Roselli: But I guess it'll be the backed theater.
- 37:45Dayna Roselli: Okay.
- 37:46unknown: Backed.
- 37:47Dayna Roselli: Hard tea.
- 37:48Dayna Roselli: Hard tea.
- 37:49Sean McAllister: Hey, uh, that is episode 160 of Vegas Revealed.

- 38:16Dayna Roselli: And we did notice on that study, people are planning a month ahead for their trips to Vegas.
- 38:21Dayna Roselli: If not, a little less than that.
- 38:23Dayna Roselli: But, you know, even planning within a week isn't a very low percentage.
- 38:27Dayna Roselli: People are planning that month.
- 38:29Dayna Roselli: Get the Vegas Near Me app now, download it for free, use our link, and start doing your research.
- 38:34Dayna Roselli: You can find where to go, attractions, you know, how much parking is in certain places now that we know people use their own vehicle.
- 38:40Dayna Roselli: Exactly.
- 38:41Dayna Roselli: Um, all you know, maps of inside the properties, uh things for all ages, hours, all sorts of information.
- 38:48Dayna Roselli: They've got everything.
- 38:49Dayna Roselli: And so I say download it now and start planning by sorting through Vegas near me.
