- 0:03[SPEAKER_00]: Hello, hello, and welcome to another edition of the 9 out of always podcast part of the fancited podcast network.
- 0:09[SPEAKER_00]: My name is Robert Morrison, a contributor at 9 out of always dot com and here with me.
- 0:13[SPEAKER_00]: Fellow contributor, Aksha's divadula, Aksha's first of all, let's start with you.
- 0:18[SPEAKER_00]: How is it going?
- 0:20[SPEAKER_01]: Robert, you know, this has been a very not great week.
- 0:25[SPEAKER_01]: Actually, a lot of ways, so there's everything that happened on Sunday, which we'll talk about very briefly, but broke my heart.
- 0:35[SPEAKER_01]: That also got sick.
- 0:37[SPEAKER_01]: And then I don't know.
- 0:38[SPEAKER_01]: So I don't know.
- 0:40[SPEAKER_01]: I It's a downhill mess.
- 0:43[SPEAKER_01]: So I yeah, so I'm hoping I'm hoping the 49ers can pick me up this Sunday But I don't know.
- 0:51[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know more on that soon So first of all apologies from those of us what really just shocked us and I For not having a post Game wrap up after the buck in your game it was
- 1:07[SPEAKER_00]: as Axis alluded to pretty like it was like you lost the game and on top of but it it felt like we lost Fred Warner and then on top of that you lost the game like it almost feels like that was the order of importance because I think that's probably accurate.
- 1:25[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know what do you think.
- 1:27[SPEAKER_01]: Oh yeah, I mean like
- 1:30[SPEAKER_01]: So if you remember, right, like I predicted they'd lose the game.
- 1:34[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:35[SPEAKER_01]: And like, which not to say like, oh, look at me, I'm right.
- 1:38[SPEAKER_01]: I want to be wrong every time I predict they lose.
- 1:40[SPEAKER_01]: But like,
- 1:42[SPEAKER_01]: My point being the game is whatever, like if you want to win five and one is better than four and two yes like this isn't going to kill you coming to play off like you'll be annoying you might look back on it but like not having Fred Warner that kills you that that like that is as big a blow as you can have to this defense and like.
- 2:06[SPEAKER_01]: because I don't want to belabor the point because I feel like we can talk for like many hours about how important this, like his losses.
- 2:14[SPEAKER_01]: But suffice it to save for those of you who've listened to this podcast enough, know my opinions on this, like the 49ers defense fundamentally doesn't work without friend Warner.
- 2:26[SPEAKER_01]: Like he uniquely makes this defense sort of function.
- 2:30[SPEAKER_01]: Everything they do revolves around the fact that 54 is in the middle.
- 2:35[SPEAKER_01]: Now 54 isn't in the middle.
- 2:36[SPEAKER_01]: Yep, that's really scary.
- 2:38[SPEAKER_01]: So we've got it like we'll see how they figure it out with a week, I think.
- 2:43[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 2:44[SPEAKER_01]: Like Robert Sala probably would got him his job with the jet's last time was 49 as defense coordinator was like coordinating around the loss of Nick Bosa, but he's never lost Fred Warner, so no one has no
- 3:06[SPEAKER_01]: somewhat permanently lowers the ceiling of this team for this year, because like with Nick Bosa, yeah, that was also true.
- 3:15[SPEAKER_01]: But you've kind of feel like you can get around like Bosa's loss with like a trade here and like waves of something and blitz is you just you can't get around losing Werner like he is so one of one.
- 3:33[SPEAKER_01]: Last thing and then I'll stop and we'll talk about like the actual game coming up, but I think the gap between Fred Warner and the next best linebacker in the like in the NFL is one of the largest like differential gaps between like number one and number two in a position like he
- 3:57[SPEAKER_01]: The only reason I think he is not gotten the absurd play acclaimed, the he otherwise sort of gets right like everyone knows that he's the best linebacker in the NFL, but people aren't just like like you don't talk about him in the way people talk about like Ray Lewis back in the day or Patrick Willis or Leukea played or even like Bobby Wagner like recently.
- 4:18[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that's just because the way he's used in the 49ers defense is so like fixed things, please.
- 4:26[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 4:28[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, please, like Fred, like make sure this works.
- 4:31[SPEAKER_01]: And so it's not always the goddess stats, but like the classic, like look at every passing chart after a team plays the 49ers and the least amount of passes thrown is right in the middle.
- 4:44[SPEAKER_01]: That's all because of like 54.
- 4:46[SPEAKER_01]: So
- 4:48[SPEAKER_01]: I like, I was miserable the entire day afterwards.
- 4:55[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, just, it was heartbreaking.
- 4:59[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 5:00[SPEAKER_01]: He'll come back stronger.
- 5:01[SPEAKER_01]: We wish him all the best and just just terrible.
- 5:06[SPEAKER_01]: Just terrible.
- 5:07[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 5:08[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, you know, on one sense, you don't want to over-act to the way the defense looked.
- 5:14[SPEAKER_00]: in the box game, because that's usually what happens when a team loses a player in the middle of the game, especially as important as Fred Warner, things tend to go haywire, right?
- 5:25[SPEAKER_00]: Because fixing that on the fly is like impossible.
- 5:31[SPEAKER_00]: Like there's nobody, nobody was prepared for that.
- 5:34[SPEAKER_00]: So you can't be like, oh, well, this is what the defense is going to look like for the rest of the season.
- 5:39[SPEAKER_00]: And they had a rough second half to be fitted for for sure.
- 5:42[SPEAKER_00]: But
- 5:44[SPEAKER_00]: But it does, I mean, well, I mean, we'll see this game on Sunday night, which we'll talk about here in just a minute is going to be a good litmus test because this is a, I don't know, I think a better Falcon steam than most people expected, although there's some some caveats that we'll talk about in a moment.
- 6:03[SPEAKER_00]: So it'll be interesting to see how that, how everything kind of comes together.
- 6:07[SPEAKER_00]: There's no replacing him as a player in the center of that defense.
- 6:12[SPEAKER_00]: I was talking, going back and forth with John Porter, one of our other contributors at nine or no as the other day.
- 6:19[SPEAKER_00]: I was just like, I feel like the tackling that looks so bad.
- 6:25[SPEAKER_00]: I went once he left against the buck.
- 6:27[SPEAKER_00]: It's like that stuff you can clean up.
- 6:29[SPEAKER_00]: I feel like Taden Bethune and D. Winters like that's an area where they thrive.
- 6:34[SPEAKER_00]: I'm worried about, like, as you alluded to, the coverage stuff that I don't think any of the other guys on the team can match.
- 6:42[SPEAKER_00]: And it's not like we can solve it by sliding one of our safety's in at that position because that's not exactly an area of expertise for those guys either.
- 6:55[SPEAKER_01]: is what happens now that that middle of the field is open up for for teams and they feel like oh well we can throw it there because breadwinner's not there yeah I mean like there's a cascading effect like just because it's very very very very um
- 7:16[SPEAKER_01]: It's very hard to see like the ways that he's like supports everyone until like he's gone and you're right like I want it like you're point about Things looking much worse after a player gets out.
- 7:28[SPEAKER_01]: That's 100% true.
- 7:29[SPEAKER_01]: I think offense and defense like I remember last year.
- 7:32[SPEAKER_01]: I think Deepo Samuel went out for a game Before he known as offense in that game looked abysmal and like shanahan after the game was like yeah, like I had like 20 plays set up for Debo
- 7:45[SPEAKER_01]: Like that was that was our game plan was to get him the ball right and like he's not there anymore.
- 7:50[SPEAKER_01]: So like what can you do.
- 7:51[SPEAKER_01]: So like I think on defense.
- 7:55[SPEAKER_01]: It's a little less matchup oriented like I'm getting the ball to Fred Warner right like.
- 8:02[SPEAKER_01]: You feel like defensive game plan is built around the fact that you know you can have this player in this at this time and like he wasn't there.
- 8:12[SPEAKER_01]: So I don't know like I'm a little like I'm a little terrifying to be I think we have a little bit.
- 8:20[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I mean the thing that you say about this lowering the ceiling for this team certainly true.
- 8:28[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, number one, they lost the game to the Buccaneers, which has an impact on there.
- 8:35[SPEAKER_00]: I say playoff seating down the line like that's a spot that like that head to head match up.
- 8:39[SPEAKER_00]: They lost it.
- 8:40[SPEAKER_00]: If there's a situation where the Bucks and the Niners are in the same in the running for the same playoff seat, the Bucks will supersede them because they beat them.
- 8:50[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, I mean, I think
- 8:52[SPEAKER_00]: Right now, and I wrote something about this too.
- 8:56[SPEAKER_00]: Like you said about the Bose thing.
- 8:57[SPEAKER_00]: Like the Bose thing was really bad, and but it's one player that you might be able to make a decent enough trade for get healthy everywhere else, and you probably feel pretty good about this.
- 9:09[SPEAKER_00]: I only can make two trades to fix this team.
- 9:15[SPEAKER_00]: And yeah, like I said, I wrote about this.
- 9:16[SPEAKER_00]: I think this changes the calculus and what they're going to do.
- 9:19[SPEAKER_00]: It doesn't mean they're not going to make moves at the trade deadline necessarily.
- 9:23[SPEAKER_00]: The obviously the NFL trade deadline is weird because it's not like.
- 9:27[SPEAKER_00]: Like in baseball, where things happen all the time, like the NFL trade deadline is kind of a dud most of the time.
- 9:34[SPEAKER_00]: Everyone's in a while, things will happen.
- 9:36[SPEAKER_00]: But unless they feel like they can make a, and shout, Calshanyan said this specifically.
- 9:41[SPEAKER_00]: Like unless they feel like they can make a play for a guy who's not a rental, like there's, they cannot, there's nothing, no one guy is gonna for, for a seven game span is gonna fix this team.
- 9:54[SPEAKER_00]: and be like, oh, well, they're super well contenders now.
- 9:56[SPEAKER_00]: Like, they're just, they're too broken.
- 9:58[SPEAKER_00]: They're too young in other places where they're not broken.
- 10:00[SPEAKER_00]: And maybe this is, maybe they're still play off team here, depending on how the schedule shakes out and how the, you know, how health works out in other areas, but it's going to be a lot more of a grind than I think we anticipated.
- 10:16[SPEAKER_01]: Definitely, like, definitely more of a grind.
- 10:18[SPEAKER_01]: And it's just,
- 10:24[SPEAKER_01]: It's interesting, right?
- 10:25[SPEAKER_01]: I was thinking about this just as you're saying, because I'm seeing the same things too, right?
- 10:29[SPEAKER_01]: Like Nick Boses, like top-by-pass Russia, right?
- 10:31[SPEAKER_01]: I was not getting, like, big deal, big loss.
- 10:35[SPEAKER_01]: But there's something unique, I think, about what Fred Warner does that makes it very hard to be replaced by, like, anyone you can get.
- 10:46[SPEAKER_01]: And I think because of that,
- 10:53[SPEAKER_01]: Like there's just, there's no way, there's no person you can get that can like adequately replicate what he does that is like available via trade and like you said like I don't think the Niners are interested in work aging they're like long-term future they did a lot of that they should have probably won like a Super Bowl or to do that or to they didn't.
- 11:13[SPEAKER_01]: whatever we we don't have to litigate that now they like they have to build back up like this was part of the building process they were looking good despite the injuries to start so we were thinking okay like there's a little momentum here but like this has been like sort of a like a quote unquote rebuilding year quote unquote like like I think we were all expecting them to make the play off
- 11:37[SPEAKER_01]: But not necessarily be like a real contender.
- 11:41[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, like they're like a couple of right now.
- 11:44[SPEAKER_01]: Totally fine.
- 11:45[SPEAKER_01]: Like that's okay.
- 11:47[SPEAKER_01]: Like the next couple of years, they should like reach that like upper echelon again.
- 11:51[SPEAKER_01]: But the question is just,
- 11:56[SPEAKER_01]: with with the injuries now.
- 11:58[SPEAKER_01]: How much are you willing to even like give a little bit to sort of boost boost the team up now?
- 12:05[SPEAKER_01]: Is it even worth it?
- 12:06[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think so thinking your article you sort of discussed that you don't necessarily think so either and I think there's been a lot of like discourse about kind of like doubling down on the youth movement.
- 12:19[SPEAKER_01]: I fully believe
- 12:26[SPEAKER_01]: Big game on Sunday.
- 12:27[SPEAKER_01]: They will.
- 12:28[SPEAKER_01]: They are 5 and 2.
- 12:30[SPEAKER_01]: They're 4 and 1 in the NFC.
- 12:34[SPEAKER_01]: Look at that.
- 12:35[SPEAKER_01]: I've been one at the NFC.
- 12:36[SPEAKER_01]: 5 and 1 in the NFC.
- 12:38[SPEAKER_00]: They only played NFC teams.
- 12:39[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, suffrage.
- 12:40[SPEAKER_00]: Thanks, yeah.
- 12:40[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, except for the jagged.
- 12:41[SPEAKER_01]: 5 and 1 in the NFC.
- 12:43[SPEAKER_01]: What's it called?
- 12:43[SPEAKER_01]: 3 and 0 against the division still best having the best division in the best record in the NFC West.
- 12:51[UNKNOWN]: Like,
- 12:53[SPEAKER_01]: It's all, it's all there, right?
- 12:54[SPEAKER_01]: Like, yeah, the season is still the season, but like, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 12:57[SPEAKER_01]: And in picture, it's like, oh, this is like, it's a butt, like, yeah, yeah.
- 13:02[SPEAKER_01]: We've seen crazer things happen with worst teams.
- 13:06[SPEAKER_01]: Like a team that has the talent still on this team, before matters have.
- 13:11[SPEAKER_01]: Worst teams in that have like one.
- 13:14[SPEAKER_01]: one of the super ball.
- 13:15[SPEAKER_01]: So just saying like it.
- 13:17[SPEAKER_01]: And like there's a well, there's a way.
- 13:19[SPEAKER_00]: Bring it in, bring it on, bring it on.
- 13:21[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to take a slightly back into more doom and gloom and materially, though, as we shift the focus into the Falcon's Game on Sunday.
- 13:29[SPEAKER_00]: It is Sunday Night Football, Falcon's coming to Levi Stadium.
- 13:35[SPEAKER_00]: Coming off a pretty big win, which I'm sure we'll talk about here in the lead up to this.
- 13:39[SPEAKER_00]: Of course, we need to talk about the injury situation.
- 13:43[SPEAKER_00]: none Fred Warner edition, Ricky Pierce all Brock Perti and Yuto Grasmato's continue to be out due to their injuries, man, what a what a sad state of affairs that has been, especially the quarterback and the guy who was playing at Widersy over one level.
- 14:01[SPEAKER_00]: So they're out, they're not going to play Kevin given questionable with his pectoral.
- 14:05[SPEAKER_00]: He's still not been put on the 53 main roster, so you have to be elevated.
- 14:10[SPEAKER_00]: There's going to be a spot available for him here momentarily.
- 14:13[SPEAKER_00]: Um, Renato Green also questionable with a neck injury and up and stop questionable with a shoulder injury.
- 14:20[SPEAKER_00]: I thought I read it was something else, but um, they also put, uh, Mark has about his can't link on IR to make the, uh, the injury situation all the better.
- 14:30[SPEAKER_00]: which means for those of you keeping Jack at home, that means Kendrick Born and Joanne Jennings and a little bit of Jordan Watkins and Skymore are basically your wide receivers for Sunday and the Jordan Watkins thing is maybe up in the air but it looks it looks like he's kind of tracking a play which can be could be interesting.
- 14:55[SPEAKER_00]: He
- 14:55[SPEAKER_00]: Looks like he better be ready to go and there could be some elevations from the practice squad, but of course the other good news is that George Kittle is set to be return returning this Sunday.
- 15:06[SPEAKER_00]: He's not on the answer report.
- 15:08[SPEAKER_00]: He will be elevated from the injured reserve probably in the hours.
- 15:13[SPEAKER_00]: You probably have already heard about it as you've as you're listening to this.
- 15:15[SPEAKER_00]: So that's good news.
- 15:17[SPEAKER_00]: They've truly missed him.
- 15:21[SPEAKER_00]: But all in all,
- 15:24[SPEAKER_00]: This is a weird order to look at it, but all in all, not the worst injury report we've seen all season.
- 15:32[SPEAKER_01]: No, not at all.
- 15:33[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, some of them are, that's where we are right now, man.
- 15:37[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I mean, so like the real problem with like this whole thing, right?
- 15:41[SPEAKER_01]: Is that like some of these are the bad, right?
- 15:44[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 15:44[SPEAKER_00]: And they've been going on for weeks and stuff like that.
- 15:47[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 15:47[SPEAKER_01]: So you're kind of just over like Brockford, you're not playing again.
- 15:50[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 15:51[SPEAKER_01]: That's not good, but it's like, okay, like another week, whatever.
- 15:54[SPEAKER_01]: Which I just want to say, like this is, I think it's a testament to Kyle Shane
- 16:04[SPEAKER_01]: that they're just, the 49ers are not playing with their starting quarterback, quarterback, they're paying like $53 million to a year.
- 16:12[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 16:12[SPEAKER_01]: And like, the expectation is still like, yeah, keep on going.
- 16:16[SPEAKER_01]: Like it doesn't matter.
- 16:18[SPEAKER_01]: Like, like,
- 16:20[SPEAKER_01]: And I think it's not only that that's the expectation, I think like we after that first game against the Saints have also been like, all right, yeah, they're fine.
- 16:29[SPEAKER_01]: Like no fear now.
- 16:30[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, and by the way, they're first in passing here than the NFL.
- 16:33[SPEAKER_01]: Right, like absurd, it's absurd, it's genuinely absurd because like that for so many teams, I mean, like, for example, right, the Bangalors lost Joe Burrow.
- 16:47[SPEAKER_00]: They've been a dumpster fire.
- 16:48[SPEAKER_01]: They had to trade for 90-year-old Joe Flackett.
- 16:52[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I guess we, you know, brought him back with a big win, but still, like, kind of like, that's crazy.
- 17:00[SPEAKER_01]: Genuinely, like, yeah, a crazy sort of like.
- 17:05[SPEAKER_01]: set up, but um, and anything.
- 17:08[SPEAKER_00]: That was pretty good.
- 17:09[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, we're understatement of the century.
- 17:13[SPEAKER_01]: But now that we're not there.
- 17:14[SPEAKER_01]: Sorry, little tangent.
- 17:16[SPEAKER_01]: Like, yeah, like, a lot of those injuries are frustrating.
- 17:19[SPEAKER_01]: They're annoying like they're going to cause difficulty.
- 17:22[SPEAKER_01]: I think the passing game despite all the different like,
- 17:28[SPEAKER_01]: injuries is still chugged along, but like it comes at a cost, right?
- 17:32[SPEAKER_01]: Like I think the 49er has been less explosive, right?
- 17:35[SPEAKER_01]: They want to be.
- 17:36[SPEAKER_01]: And that's in part because of like the weapons they have there.
- 17:39[SPEAKER_01]: Now, as you mentioned, one of those weapons is coming back.
- 17:44[SPEAKER_01]: He's probably the biggest one that that is out right now in George Kiddell.
- 17:48[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Kiddell, like
- 17:49[SPEAKER_01]: You know, like I don't need to say like if you're listening, you you know like he gets blocks as he yeah There you go blocks like a left tackle catches like a wide receiver runs over people like a running bag.
- 18:02[SPEAKER_01]: There you go.
- 18:02[SPEAKER_01]: That's all that I mean he's one of one he also I mean I think that like
- 18:10[SPEAKER_01]: as he gets back.
- 18:12[SPEAKER_01]: I think the 49ers run game will improve.
- 18:14[SPEAKER_01]: I think their past game will be open.
- 18:17[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, well, it better.
- 18:18[SPEAKER_01]: You need it, too.
- 18:19[SPEAKER_01]: But I think these things are all going to start to slowly get better.
- 18:23[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that like it's a shame because we were talking about like the troops will come back and the defense will grow.
- 18:30[SPEAKER_01]: And then they'll like be the Super Bowl contender.
- 18:33[SPEAKER_01]: Well, troops are coming back.
- 18:35[SPEAKER_01]: Defense will grow, but they're missing some guys there.
- 18:41[SPEAKER_01]: I'm hoping, I'm hoping that this is sort of the turning point where the like injury report updates are like, oh, he's back now, all right, yeah.
- 18:50[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, he's back now.
- 18:52[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, like, really, if you think about it, like, my luck was stopped up like pretty good, like, that first person is like, come on.
- 18:59[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, more and more, like, people are people are coming back.
- 19:02[SPEAKER_01]: I think like we can start to get a little excited, not scared of the injury report.
- 19:07[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, side note, he tore his ACL in January.
- 19:11[SPEAKER_00]: Again, like you read tour and ACL in January, and he came back in less than 10 months.
- 19:22[SPEAKER_01]: Incredible play.
- 19:23[SPEAKER_00]: It's nuts.
- 19:25[SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, the Falcons are not exactly healthy themselves, although they've got some players.
- 19:31[SPEAKER_00]: Following players are out for the game, Jalen Walker.
- 19:34[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, that's the, that's the, the rookie right from Georgia that we talked about the Niners Pomp, possibly drafting.
- 19:41[SPEAKER_00]: So he will not play the growing injury, uh, quarterback Clark Phillips, the third has a triceps injury, but apparently is also sick.
- 19:48[SPEAKER_00]: That sounds like that with suck.
- 19:50[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, safety Billy Bowman Jr. has a hamstring injury.
- 19:53[SPEAKER_00]: He is out.
- 19:54[SPEAKER_00]: Um, Jordan Fuller, another safety has a knee injury.
- 19:57[SPEAKER_00]: He is also out.
- 19:58[SPEAKER_00]: which is strange because he had full practices and Thursday and Friday so there must be something going on there.
- 20:03[SPEAKER_00]: And then, unfortunately, there will be no Ray Ray McLeod revenge game on Sunday.
- 20:09[SPEAKER_00]: He is out with a personal issue and will not be playing in the game.
- 20:13[SPEAKER_00]: Questionable will be defensive tackle, take one gram with a cap injury, wide receiver Darnell Mooney with a hamstring.
- 20:20[SPEAKER_00]: Titan Philly Bay Franks with a calf injury, no, he doesn't have a, sorry.
- 20:27[SPEAKER_00]: He was on the injury report, but he's not.
- 20:29[SPEAKER_00]: It does not have a game status, which is weird.
- 20:31[SPEAKER_00]: And then offensive tackle Jake Matthews has an ankle injury.
- 20:33[SPEAKER_00]: He is questionable.
- 20:35[SPEAKER_00]: after two DMPs limited on Friday.
- 20:38[SPEAKER_00]: So those are not like the major names there, but there's some interesting ones, I think Jalen Walker stands out, of course, because he uses their first on traffic, but two safety's being out for the game, also noticeable, anything else stand out to you there.
- 20:56[SPEAKER_01]: Not particularly, I think you highlighted the big ones, gel and walkers and interesting one for sure.
- 21:00[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, like, I just remember so much discourse about whether the 49ers should a draft and hitting over Michael Williams.
- 21:07[SPEAKER_01]: I think interesting names potentially not like the impactful names that like we're saying the 49ers, but I think kind of part for the course for the 49ers this year.
- 21:21[SPEAKER_00]: Yes indeed, yes indeed.
- 21:23[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
- 21:24[SPEAKER_00]: So let's go ahead and get into the breakdown of the game and we will do that with our reasons for optimism and reasons for concern, which are brought to you by our lovely friends at Underdog Fantasy.
- 21:40[SPEAKER_00]: Football season isn't full swing and underdog is the best place to get on all the action.
- 21:45[SPEAKER_00]: Playing underdog is easy.

- 22:08[SPEAKER_01]: I talk about all the time about how much.
- 22:11[SPEAKER_01]: I think you can just like, you jump right in, the games are right there.
- 22:15[SPEAKER_01]: You can see the stats are interesting, you just go, go, go.
- 22:18[SPEAKER_01]: I, um, as I continually mentioned, I'm really bad at it.
- 22:24[SPEAKER_01]: I, I wish I was better, but I'm not, I wish I was better.
- 22:27[SPEAKER_01]: A lot of things, but I'm not, but it's still, that still still doesn't stop me from using underdog.
- 22:32[SPEAKER_01]: I just think like for me, it makes watching like football games in particular, just so much more fun.
- 22:40[SPEAKER_01]: I get rubbed up, I get amped up, I get into it, I get interested in some of the games that I might otherwise not really be wanting to watch, but now I got a bit of a vested interest.
- 22:49[SPEAKER_01]: So I highly recommend, and underdog makes it really easy to get started.
- 22:53[SPEAKER_01]: All you have to do when you download the app, you set up your profile, you can just go, go, go.

- 23:41[SPEAKER_01]: It takes hope and why for 67-369.
- 23:45[SPEAKER_00]: All right, OXS, once you get it started with the reasons for optimism.
- 23:49[SPEAKER_00]: Why are the nine who's going to win the game?
- 23:51[SPEAKER_01]: Why are the writers going to win the game because I want to do.
- 23:56[SPEAKER_01]: OK, wow.
- 23:57[SPEAKER_01]: So I think that we've talked about all the different concerns that we have about like, oh, like, injuries here.
- 24:06[SPEAKER_01]: And like, the defense is going to look bad there.
- 24:08[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm going to make two quick points.
- 24:12[SPEAKER_01]: One of them is anecdotal.
- 24:13[SPEAKER_01]: The Falcons were shut out by the Panthers.
- 24:16[SPEAKER_00]: That they were.
- 24:18[SPEAKER_01]: In my opinion, that sort of makes them getable.
- 24:22[SPEAKER_01]: I think necessarily that must be true.
- 24:25[SPEAKER_01]: But more specifically, I think the 40 miners' offense is really going to have a nice opportunity here on this game.
- 24:32[SPEAKER_01]: I think in particular, despite the injuries, getting George Kittle back, like I said in talking about what he does, like he really sort of allows for the miners to sort of get, like,
- 24:45[SPEAKER_01]: get things going a little more, I think.
- 24:48[SPEAKER_01]: Like, he can like expand the game, he can like push things forward, and like eras, eras, my apologies, it landed something.
- 24:56[SPEAKER_01]: Right, highly.
- 24:59[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, like very highly in yards per game, intersection rate, sacks, like if it's like they've they've done a good job,
- 25:08[SPEAKER_01]: They also like kind of like blown a couple of teams out and then lost a couple of big games and like so bunch of up and dance, but the one thing that they're not very good at is stopping the run.
- 25:20[SPEAKER_01]: So I think the 49ers getting kiddled back, getting that additional explosive element, they might sort of had the opportunity to like get more into their typical offensive groove
- 25:33[SPEAKER_01]: And especially like get the run game going against a team that's not very good at stopping it.
- 25:37[SPEAKER_01]: Now, the passing game I'm not so sure about this can be a bit of like a tough bag, but I also think that like.
- 25:47[SPEAKER_01]: adding George Kittle changes the complexion of the 49er's offense in a way that like teams have not yet seen the season.
- 25:53[SPEAKER_01]: And we saw one drive basically with George Kittle and the 49er score to touchdown.
- 25:59[SPEAKER_01]: They're like 100% touchdown right with George Kittle on the field basically in my opinion.
- 26:05[SPEAKER_00]: That's far from my mistake.
- 26:06[SPEAKER_00]: It's statistically correct.
- 26:07[SPEAKER_01]: I think that's exactly right.
- 26:11[SPEAKER_01]: I hear that.
- 26:12[SPEAKER_01]: Oh my.
- 26:13[SPEAKER_01]: I think that they have a real opportunity because of that, but with a bunch of caveats that I will get to.
- 26:20[SPEAKER_01]: I'm sure.
- 26:22[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 26:24[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 26:24[SPEAKER_00]: Right there with you.
- 26:25[SPEAKER_00]: Weird Falcon Steam.
- 26:26[SPEAKER_00]: Like, you noted, the Panthers lost 30 to nothing.
- 26:30[SPEAKER_00]: Not 30 to nothing against a Panthers team that is just not very good.
- 26:35[SPEAKER_00]: And I think if I'm not mistaken, I was like back game was a lot of self-inflicted wounds like they're often didn't play very well.
- 26:44[SPEAKER_00]: Not their best showing from Michael Panics in particular, I believe that game.
- 26:58[SPEAKER_00]: slam the bills who a lot of people are like this is one of the best teams in the NFL and they just kind of And the score makes it look like it was a little closer than it was, but I'm not really sure that it was that Close in the end just a weird weird team You notice their defense.
- 27:12[SPEAKER_00]: They don't give up a lot of points or give up a lot of yards.
- 27:14[SPEAKER_00]: I don't give a lot of points either but they also have a weird a pretty poor red zone record so which would suggest that
- 27:27[SPEAKER_00]: You know, you don't get into the red zone very often they've only had had nine red zone attempts from their opponents so far this season, but it's opponents of scored six six touchdowns on those nine nine attempts.
- 27:38[SPEAKER_00]: Their their offense isn't particularly good at that either.
- 27:40[SPEAKER_00]: They've only scored seven times on their 16 red zone attempts.
- 27:44[SPEAKER_00]: It's just kind of a weird weird team that that does a lot of strange things you also noted the return of George Kittle.
- 27:52[SPEAKER_00]: which adds another layer hopefully to the passing game and to the running game.
- 27:56[SPEAKER_00]: And then hopefully maybe finally an opportunity for the 49ers run game to get right.
- 28:03[SPEAKER_00]: This is per just in terms of the yards per attempt.
- 28:08[SPEAKER_00]: 27th in the NFL, 4.8 yards per attempt.
- 28:11[SPEAKER_00]: And then the other thing, and we'll see if this actually has any impact.
- 28:15[SPEAKER_00]: I just really wanted to throw this out.
- 28:16[SPEAKER_00]: So this came from Matt Mayo, go through this out on Twitter.
- 28:20[SPEAKER_00]: Yesterday, Kendra Bourne could become the first 49ers receiver with 100 yards or more receiving in three consecutive games in 30 years.
- 28:29[SPEAKER_00]: He's gone for 142 and backed by games, which is pretty funny that it's 142 exactly in backed by games.
- 28:34[SPEAKER_00]: The last 49ers player to reach triple digit receiving some three-state games was.
- 28:38[SPEAKER_00]: Drumroll, please, because you're never going to believe it.
- 28:43[SPEAKER_00]: Jerry Rice, December 1995.
- 28:47[SPEAKER_00]: That's my analysis.
- 28:48[SPEAKER_00]: Cherry rice, good at football.
- 28:51[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, like, like, I'm just saying, like, that type of analysis.
- 28:56[SPEAKER_01]: That's what you come in for.
- 28:58[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, like, you don't have that type of analysis.
- 29:00[SPEAKER_01]: What are you doing?
- 29:01[SPEAKER_01]: So you get, like, frankly.
- 29:03[SPEAKER_01]: Sometimes the obvious ones are the, are the right ones.
- 29:06[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 29:07[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, I think this is a,
- 29:09[SPEAKER_00]: as you noted, a getable team.
- 29:11[SPEAKER_00]: Like if you can force them into some mistakes, particularly on offense, I think, Michael Panic's who, you know, he's not played a ton of football, this cause he didn't play all of last season and while he started all five of their games so far, this year,
- 29:36[SPEAKER_00]: But how many I'm just looking at this is this is a great podcast thing.
- 29:40[SPEAKER_00]: I'm just going to look up.
- 29:41[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, what did he play like after your last year?
- 29:43[SPEAKER_00]: Was it that much?
- 29:43[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 29:45[SPEAKER_00]: Um, so he's still young and still prone to mistakes.
- 29:48[SPEAKER_00]: He's got three interceptions on just 157 attempts.
- 29:53[SPEAKER_00]: So.
- 29:55[SPEAKER_00]: You know, it's not a particularly high, but he's only got four touchdowns too.
- 29:58[SPEAKER_00]: So he's he's kind of in that, like, very much entrenched into like.
- 30:03[SPEAKER_00]: Hey kid, don't make too many mistakes.
- 30:05[SPEAKER_00]: Kind of thing, and when he does, like he did against the Panthers, it leads to them getting shut out and when he doesn't, they're pretty good team.
- 30:15[SPEAKER_00]: I think that's fairly obvious at this particular point.
- 30:20[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, that sounds about right to me there.
- 30:21[SPEAKER_01]: I think they're an interesting team in a lot of different ways.
- 30:28[SPEAKER_01]: And like you said, perhaps better than people expected,
- 30:33[SPEAKER_01]: They just, it's confusing, it's really confusing.
- 30:37[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that is fine, that just like makes it hard because like, I think there's one thing that is not confusing about them though, especially in like recent sort of history and by recent, it's from their last couple of games and this goes nice and into our recent preconditioner and they're really good at running the ball.
- 31:00[SPEAKER_01]: But like, like,
- 31:02[SPEAKER_01]: Like, really, really get it running the ball.
- 31:04[SPEAKER_01]: 151 yards on the ground per game, first in the NFL.
- 31:09[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I was going to save by a lot, but actually it's not by a lot, because we've filmed Washington or like, also at 151 yards.
- 31:19[SPEAKER_01]: But then those three after that, it's like eight yards more than the next guys.
- 31:22[SPEAKER_01]: And that's Carolina, who's Rico Dado, who's like running for 200 yards a game.
- 31:26[SPEAKER_01]: So.
- 31:28[SPEAKER_01]: There's a bit of an outlier in terms of the crushing yards for some of the teams, but they're really, really good at it.
- 31:33[SPEAKER_01]: They run the ball very effectively, like, eighth in the NFL, 4.75 yards per play.
- 31:40[SPEAKER_01]: A passing game, it's like, like you said, it's not incredible.
- 31:44[SPEAKER_01]: It's not bad.
- 31:44[SPEAKER_01]: 12th in the NFL.
- 31:47[SPEAKER_01]: Overall, second in the NFL and totally yards, 10th in the yards per play.
- 31:52[SPEAKER_01]: We talked about the fact that their defense despite being bad against the run is really good overall best in the NFL in terms of yards per game, second best in terms of sex per pass attempt, least amount of first downs allowed, like 32% in allowing third down conversion only 20 points per game, white.
- 32:15[SPEAKER_01]: They're in the NFL interception rate.
- 32:17[SPEAKER_01]: Like, this is a good defense.
- 32:19[SPEAKER_01]: This is like, this is a really, this is a good defense.
- 32:22[SPEAKER_01]: They kind of struggle against the run, but this doesn't have to worry about the run too much because they get leads and then they kind of dominate.
- 32:28[SPEAKER_01]: So it's incumbent on the 49ers to like,
- 32:31[SPEAKER_01]: take the aggression.
- 32:32[SPEAKER_01]: But that's really hard.
- 32:34[SPEAKER_01]: When you're missing a friend Warner and Nick Bosa, I'm going to up against a rushing attack that's really, really good.
- 32:39[SPEAKER_01]: Like, that's just this game is going to come down to contain them with food in the 49ers defense.
- 32:46[SPEAKER_01]: Figure out how to stop the run.
- 32:49[SPEAKER_01]: can they tap a well, can they stop the run?
- 32:51[SPEAKER_01]: They can stop the run than the 49ers have like a chance.
- 32:56[SPEAKER_01]: I think if they can't stop the run, they still have a chance, everyone has a chance.
- 32:59[SPEAKER_01]: But it's gonna be a really, like, it's gonna be a really, really hard, difficult, and very different game because it's really just gonna be
- 33:07[SPEAKER_01]: Well, the offense be able to take advantage of what limited opportunities they have like this is this is the principle issue and you'll notice we didn't mention some of the like major In the injuries we didn't mention one name can I said like none of their big names, but be John Robinson is on a heater to never running back is going crazy like.
- 33:30[SPEAKER_01]: This, this is a, this is a, this is a challenge that like last year, the 49ers would have failed miserably.
- 33:36[SPEAKER_01]: They couldn't stop anyone at the run.
- 33:37[SPEAKER_01]: Like this year, they've been better, better, but still like, are they up to the task for this team?
- 33:47[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 33:47[SPEAKER_01]: Well, we'll have to see this, this will be a unique stress point coming at a very annoying time, because it's right when the 49ers are really from missing their like leader in the middle of the field.
- 33:59[SPEAKER_00]: I, yeah, I mean, can't argue with with any of that.
- 34:03[SPEAKER_00]: But John Robinson is a beast of a human, and oh, by the way, he's not only good as a pass or as a rusher, but also pretty decent in the passing game.
- 34:13[SPEAKER_00]: He's caught 24 balls.
- 34:14[SPEAKER_00]: for 338 yards, which is 14.1 yards per reception.
- 34:20[SPEAKER_00]: Also has a touchdown and 11 first downs as reception.
- 34:24[SPEAKER_00]: So that's roughly in the neighborhood of half of this catches go for first downs, which when you're averaging 14 yards per catch, I'll do it.
- 34:32[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's a it's a it's a terrifying thing.
- 34:36[SPEAKER_00]: They also have two pretty good other guys in Drake London and Kyle Pitts who are useful players.
- 34:43[SPEAKER_00]: Drake London I think more so than Kyle Pitts who I don't think is ever really lived up to the first round Titan.
- 34:51[SPEAKER_00]: Monarch or the sort of draft hype that was behind him.
- 34:55[SPEAKER_00]: I think he's been okay as a player but it's never really been like the
- 35:02[SPEAKER_00]: It's an actually terrifying creature as well, and so it's a pick your poison type of thing, and like frankly, I would rather you try to figure out how to make Michael Tenix beat you, and then let just the genre of it and just run it down your throat for the entire game, just me personally.
- 35:27[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, no, I think that's exactly right.
- 35:28[SPEAKER_01]: That's what you have to do.
- 35:30[SPEAKER_01]: Like the defense has to dictate the terms of this game.
- 35:33[SPEAKER_01]: And that's really hard.
- 35:35[SPEAKER_01]: That's really hard.
- 35:36[SPEAKER_01]: No idea if they're going to be able to do that.
- 35:39[SPEAKER_01]: But by God, they got to try.
- 35:42[SPEAKER_01]: Because like, if the Falcons can just run the ball at will, like this game is going to be over, well, it's going to be over really quickly.
- 35:50[SPEAKER_01]: It's also like not going to look good for the 49ers.
- 35:54[SPEAKER_01]: Like, yeah, they have to.
- 35:56[SPEAKER_01]: What the, they have to put the falcons in a position to make mistakes that's not really going to happen if they're running the ball would be John.
- 36:09[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, and the other thing obviously that to be concerned about is just we talked about their defense already that has areas where it it excels in, but it's just I mean like stingy I think is the word that we could we could use or describe them.
- 36:26[SPEAKER_00]: but there are 7th and points allowed, it's funny they've scored exactly the same amount of points as they've allowed on defense, exactly 100 through this point this season, which is very funny.
- 36:39[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, I mean, they're also difficult, like if you get into third down, they've only allowed 32% of opponent third down conversions, 17 at up 53.
- 36:49[SPEAKER_00]: That's that's rough.
- 36:51[SPEAKER_00]: That's fourth in the NFL,
- 36:55[SPEAKER_00]: So it's about being smart.
- 36:58[SPEAKER_00]: It's about getting ahead of the sticks, which these are obvious football things you want to do.
- 37:05[SPEAKER_00]: But for some reason, this defense seems like it epitomizes the exact way that you want to play.
- 37:12[SPEAKER_00]: If you can
- 37:15[SPEAKER_00]: Run the ball effectively if you can put yourself in third and manage bowls or even not even get to third down you're going to be in a lot better shape and if you're holding on to the ball well then they can't do that which is what they're going to want to do like it's pretty clear what their plan is.
- 37:29[SPEAKER_00]: So far this season that they're going to want to run the ball there they're.
- 37:33[SPEAKER_00]: They're only 15th in passing attempts so far this year but they're first in rushing attempts.
- 37:38[SPEAKER_00]: Again, some of that is game state, but some of it is also just like, hey, we got a really good running back.
- 37:42[SPEAKER_00]: We're gonna give him the ball and if he has the ball, then you don't, and you can't score.
- 37:47[SPEAKER_00]: Which helps the defense as well.
- 37:48[SPEAKER_00]: So those will be interesting things to watch, can Kyle Janehan with his makeshift offense?
- 37:53[SPEAKER_00]: Like, control the ball, will be like the deciding factor for me in this game.
- 37:59[SPEAKER_01]: Definitely, definitely.
- 38:02[SPEAKER_01]: And I don't actually know if that'll be possible.
- 38:04[SPEAKER_01]: But it'll be a real like, many ways the Falcons are what I think Shanna Hanna's always wanted.
- 38:11[SPEAKER_03]: Is that what it's like?
- 38:12[SPEAKER_01]: So, be interesting to see him going up against an offense that does like going up against a team that sort of epitomizes what he wanted.
- 38:21[SPEAKER_01]: Especially when I think like, in many ways they look like how the Niners
- 38:26[SPEAKER_01]: Like, a version of what the Niners were like looking like in 2019, where the defense is really good and the offense is running to ball really well.
- 38:34[SPEAKER_01]: The passing game is good.
- 38:36[SPEAKER_01]: It's not like phenomenal, but it's good.
- 38:38[SPEAKER_01]: And you're sort of like dominating that way.
- 38:42[SPEAKER_01]: I think obviously the 2019 49ers defense was much, much better.
- 38:47[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 38:48[SPEAKER_00]: And their quarterback for all his faults was probably better two losses.
- 38:53[SPEAKER_00]: at this point, I would say that Pinnock's probably has I or ceiling, then grappled it, but at the point of the time.
- 39:01[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know, maybe there's a, maybe there's a case.
- 39:03[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if I'm willing to make that.
- 39:05[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, okay, but all right.
- 39:08[SPEAKER_01]: We really don't need to get into that.
- 39:12[SPEAKER_01]: Like it's a good team, the NFC South, which I think I will be the first to admit, I was like, oh, NFC South is the division of the foreigners going up against great.
- 39:23[SPEAKER_00]: Like it's kind of easy, but yeah, you got to win three of those games or the rest of the last two of those games.
- 39:33[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's really important if you want to stay in the NFC playoff hunt, because it's the Panthers and the Falcons are both home games, so that's good.
- 39:41[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, a little bummed at the Panthers game, so I'm game, but what are you going to do?
- 39:45[SPEAKER_00]: I'm actually as quick a, um, trivia question for you, uh, who has more yards, the genre avancin, or the Ford nanners offense?
- 39:56[SPEAKER_01]: It's got to be the genre, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no,
- 40:04[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, it is so very close.
- 40:06[SPEAKER_00]: Unfortunately, the 49ers have just a few more.
- 40:09[SPEAKER_00]: It is 493 to 484.
- 40:11[SPEAKER_00]: However, would you like to play the game?
- 40:14[SPEAKER_00]: Now, this is easy.
- 40:17[SPEAKER_00]: It's, that's totally ours.
- 40:19[SPEAKER_00]: The arts per attempt are excruciatingly bad.
- 40:22[SPEAKER_00]: As we know, the 49ers are not good in this.
- 40:24[SPEAKER_00]: They're lasting the NFL in yards per attempt.
- 40:26[SPEAKER_00]: 3.1, the genre of it's in.
- 40:30[SPEAKER_00]: Arx has, you do not want to hear this, but I'm going to tell you anyway.
- 40:34[SPEAKER_00]: five point eight yards per carry.
- 40:36[SPEAKER_01]: That's rude.
- 40:39[SPEAKER_01]: That's just impressive.
- 40:40[SPEAKER_00]: Like it's a little bit of mainly insane as well.
- 40:44[SPEAKER_01]: So you see with the number of attempts they do too, that's not like, uh, oh, like this one play, um, like, and they still, they still third in the NFL and total yards rushing.
- 40:56[SPEAKER_00]: And yet still leads the league.
- 41:00[SPEAKER_00]: But, you know, technically he does not lead the league in yards for attempts, but he does in legitimate circles.
- 41:08[SPEAKER_00]: Let's just say the only two guys above him are Justin Fields and Patrick Holmes, so.
- 41:13[SPEAKER_01]: Like, yeah, like, no, like, he's legit.
- 41:16[SPEAKER_01]: I think he's like put it together, put it together.
- 41:19[SPEAKER_01]: He's been good.
- 41:20[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I think it, like, it sort of like came together.
- 41:31[SPEAKER_01]: like he's he's a weapon he's the weapon they need to neutralize as you mentioned and it is it's like a two-parter like you have to make sure you don't give up any of the big ones that's how the 49ers lost to the Jaguars was giving up the big runs but you also need to like get negatives yeah that's the big thing right is that like
- 41:57[SPEAKER_01]: You got to be able to get them into like the second and 12 second and 11 with the third and like nine to thirty and eight right like you can't have the running game.
- 42:08[SPEAKER_01]: Get you into as you're saying those manageable third downs because then they can do whatever they want so it's really incumbent on the 49ers defense as you said to put the without falcons into a passing situation and then.
- 42:24[SPEAKER_01]: Manufacturer Passfish that really hasn't been there so as to like take advantage of the fact that it's a passing situation.
- 42:32[SPEAKER_00]: Yep, it's a balancing act for sure one that unfortunately the Niners have not been terribly good at so far this year, which is I think the thing that concerns you right so they got to play a clean game and then they also have to like be able to lock in on.
- 42:51[SPEAKER_00]: something that their opponent does really well and if they can't and they're good to struggle.
- 42:58[SPEAKER_00]: All right, so speaking of which let's go ahead and get into our prediction time.
- 43:07[SPEAKER_00]: I am so unsure about this game on multiple levels, but I'll go ahead and go first because I'm a team player.
- 43:15[SPEAKER_00]: I don't I don't think this is this is really this is a really bad
- 43:21[SPEAKER_00]: like to play this game after immediately after losing Fred Warner, I mean, there's no good time to like lose Fred Warner, but like to immediately have to ask your young line back in core to be like, all right, well, hey, go stop like one of the top two or three best running backs in the league right now.
- 43:39[SPEAKER_00]: Happy trails.
- 43:42[SPEAKER_00]: Like, I don't know.
- 43:43[SPEAKER_00]: It's just that I just don't think it's gonna work out.
- 43:47[SPEAKER_00]: So I think there's gonna be
- 43:48[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think they're going to win this game, OXS, I don't feel good about it.
- 43:52[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not sure about this score, I said 31-24, that feels like a lot, especially considering the Falcons have not scored a lot of points, but they have done it, so could be the game kind of tighter than we think it might be, they pull ahead at the end, but I just don't.
- 44:09[SPEAKER_00]: This is a bad matchup at the wrong time for the 49ers.
- 44:13[SPEAKER_01]: I agree.
- 44:14[SPEAKER_01]: I agree completely.
- 44:15[SPEAKER_01]: I think I also don't have them winning.
- 44:18[SPEAKER_01]: I think that I have the score a lot lower than you do not because I think the 49ers defense is going to like be some like juggernaut, but I think that like this game is going to go by quickly because it's going to be on the ground a lot.
- 44:36[SPEAKER_01]: I think I have it at like 24 like 13.
- 44:42[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I am not, I'm not confident the 49ers ability to score against the Falcons in part because like we have to see it, but then furthermore like I don't know if they're going to be able to like really stop the.
- 45:01[SPEAKER_01]: Stop the, um, yeah, it's not going to have the ball enough.
- 45:06[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's just for points.
- 45:07[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, it's just going to be a possession game.
- 45:08[SPEAKER_01]: And I think the falthons are going to be scoring touchdowns on the ground.
- 45:11[SPEAKER_01]: So then the question is, are going, are the niders going to be able to match that in the limited opportunity they have?
- 45:18[SPEAKER_01]: And I don't know, like, this team is not screamed explosive to me, right?
- 45:23[SPEAKER_01]: Not screamed, like, get the ball and score quickly.
- 45:25[SPEAKER_01]: And that's what you need when the other team can keep the ball forever.
- 45:29[SPEAKER_01]: you have to like strike back fast or you have to be able to like also do the same thing right yeah sure that that's going to happen yeah and i think there is a path to winning that's what it does it's like you beat them at their own game somehow
- 45:45[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I think, like, I mean, we haven't even mentioned Christian McCaffer's name, like, at all today, and it's like, that's in play, if, especially if you take a week, a week, Falcons rushing defense, and Christian McCaffer, if the 49ers can scheme it up and make it work.
- 46:03[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, we haven't seen it, I think that's why we're both like, and can they do it?
- 46:06[SPEAKER_00]: Like, we haven't seen it this year, um, but if they can find a way to run the ball against
- 46:14[SPEAKER_00]: like get reemores out of his like blitz happy kind of stuff like force them to like oh okay well I guess we got attention to the rush
- 46:22[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, then I think that's the pathway to winning this game, but the problem is is that like you said with the defense, we haven't seen the offense do that kind of thing yet this season and so it's difficult to be like, oh, yeah, they can just match them like if you if we were talking about this two years ago, I've been like, yeah, they can they can they can they outrun the Falcons two years ago 100% this year.
- 46:43[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I don't know about it.
- 46:49[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 46:53[SPEAKER_01]: on offense that like, yeah, like as you like most 49ers teams of the Kyle Shanahan, this would be a strength on strength match up essentially.
- 47:01[SPEAKER_01]: So I took good running games who's going to like come ahead.
- 47:04[SPEAKER_01]: That's not the case for this team, right?
- 47:05[SPEAKER_01]: Like maybe it will be I think you were right to mention that like we should leave that possibility open.
- 47:12[SPEAKER_01]: It's totally possible.
- 47:14[SPEAKER_01]: It's totally possible, right?
- 47:15[SPEAKER_01]: I think the running game is getting slowly better week over week.
- 47:18[SPEAKER_01]: They'll continue to get better.
- 47:21[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I'm a big, but I believe it when I see it guy and I haven't seen it, so I don't believe it because they're not there yet, like it's, it's that simple for me, they're just they're not at a point.
- 47:45[SPEAKER_01]: This could be the game to get them closer to that point for all the reasons we've mentioned, but there'll be that will be surprising.
- 47:55[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 47:55[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I don't even think it's a defense thing, right?
- 47:58[SPEAKER_01]: So like, I don't think they're issue with the running games that the defenses have like been so, so good against it.
- 48:05[SPEAKER_01]: I think they just like don't block it well.
- 48:08[SPEAKER_01]: Like honestly, I think that's the issue is that like they don't execute and it doesn't even matter what the defense is doing.
- 48:14[SPEAKER_01]: Like you can, it is so exceedingly rare to like scheme up a perfect run where it's like actually like untouched.
- 48:25[SPEAKER_01]: It's not in touch because someone made a good block.
- 48:27[SPEAKER_01]: But like you just like set it up to where like the running back is like home free.
- 48:31[SPEAKER_01]: That's not really like, that's not how like great running games work.
- 48:36[SPEAKER_01]: That's part of it, but like you have to be able to execute your blocks.
- 48:39[SPEAKER_01]: Like you can get the defense in a like advantageous position, but you gotta like fall through and they just like they have not fallen through.
- 48:46[SPEAKER_01]: They've totally not fallen through at all.
- 48:49[SPEAKER_01]: And the category I think to his credit has done most everything he can.
- 48:53[SPEAKER_01]: Like I still like have a little bit of reservation over like how much bursts does he have in his legs.
- 48:59[SPEAKER_01]: compared to like two years ago.
- 49:01[SPEAKER_01]: But like he's making the most of what's there.
- 49:03[SPEAKER_01]: But what's there is not a lot because like they're just like not blocked well.
- 49:08[SPEAKER_01]: Like he's making two yards at a zero yards.
- 49:12[SPEAKER_01]: But if you block it well, he could be getting like seven yards at a three yards.
- 49:17[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, I think I think the the one thing you need to look at is it's not like Brian Robinson
- 49:26[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, if he were, if Brian Robinson were being successful and McAfrey wasn't for whatever reason then he'd be like, oh, maybe McAfrey's broken or something, but they're both having a really hard time, so it's just like
- 49:37[SPEAKER_00]: something's wrong with the stuff up print.
- 49:39[SPEAKER_00]: And maybe George Kittle being back well with that, and we hope it will.
- 49:44[SPEAKER_00]: Inactive's, I think, fairly straightforward.
- 49:47[SPEAKER_00]: Actually, this is probably the least straightforward.
- 49:48[SPEAKER_00]: They've been all season, obviously, recapirous all, uh, Brock Perti, U.T.
- 49:52[SPEAKER_00]: or Grasmato's.
- 49:53[SPEAKER_00]: I think Jordan James continues to be out.
- 49:55[SPEAKER_00]: I put Braden Willis, who we may have forgotten was on the 50th year of Manrosser for this team.
- 50:02[SPEAKER_00]: I think he's inactive because they don't actually
- 50:07[SPEAKER_00]: They don't actually have to wave or release them or anything to get a kiddo back on the roster because of Warner and Mark has found his scantling.
- 50:16[SPEAKER_00]: So there's two spots open or there will be two spots open for him.
- 50:19[SPEAKER_00]: So Willis gets to stay on the team I think, but yeah, I don't think he's gonna play.
- 50:23[SPEAKER_00]: And then I for some reason I'm surround Neil on here But really my major point was that I'm not sure they need five safety's
- 50:33[SPEAKER_00]: And I just don't know who the guy is.
- 50:36[SPEAKER_00]: Like they have between Mustafa and Pinoc and Seagull and Neil who's probably a little bit less of a like a safety and more of a specialty in his guy and then giant brown.
- 50:46[SPEAKER_00]: I think one of those five is gotta go.
- 50:48[SPEAKER_00]: It's not gonna play and then I'm not really sure who the seventh guy is.
- 50:52[SPEAKER_00]: Last week, they only had six because they had so many hurt guests, so that was cool.
- 50:57[SPEAKER_00]: And maybe that's possible.
- 50:58[SPEAKER_00]: There's probably another guy in there that I'm not thinking about.
- 51:01[SPEAKER_00]: And yes, I do think it's finally time for Nick Martin to get his run.
- 51:06[SPEAKER_00]: So that's good for him, I guess.
- 51:09[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, so I don't know if I can come up with names per se, but I...
- 51:17[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think surround Neil will be enacted.
- 51:19[SPEAKER_01]: I think he plays two important special tunes role.
- 51:22[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 51:22[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I think if we're being like somewhat, like, as critical as possible, it might, it might, should be like Martha Seagull, who I was kind of thinking that, but I don't want to be that guy again.
- 51:37[SPEAKER_01]: I'll be that guy all right.
- 51:39[SPEAKER_01]: I mean like I think Marcus has been in great positions He just like his coverage ability is been like I think below par and that's like that's cost the steam right so they have that needs to be like sorted out.
- 51:53[SPEAKER_01]: I think I think they're not gonna do that though, so I think the safety's are gonna stay Nick Martin.
- 52:02[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know about like
- 52:04[SPEAKER_01]: I think the speed at which they were like not taking between the guy stepping up makes me like wonder if they even truly like even see a role for Martin right now.
- 52:14[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I mean, Shanahan did say that special teams are his way on the field at this particular point.
- 52:20[SPEAKER_00]: So maybe, I don't know, but maybe they have, maybe they, I mean, they've had other than Martin.
- 52:27[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, Martin is the seven flying back around this roster right now, including
- 52:34[SPEAKER_00]: I think 6th or 7th, but so, I mean, maybe they decide they want to, I mean, they've kept every linebacker active every week, except for him.
- 52:42[SPEAKER_00]: So it's possible that they just like, oh, we're going to keep the same number of linebackers and he just becomes, he just fills in, everybody kind of slides up his butt.
- 52:47[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know, we shall see any other thoughts on that before we wrap it up.
- 52:52[SPEAKER_01]: Wow, so like I think one name you didn't mention or a couple of names you didn't mention, how excited are Jordan Walkins, I think he'll get run.
- 53:01[SPEAKER_01]: Yep.
- 53:02[SPEAKER_01]: I'll be exciting to see.
- 53:03[SPEAKER_01]: Jordan James, I think he might he might touch the field, which would also be exciting to see.
- 53:08[SPEAKER_01]: I think Walkins for sure, I'm really excited for like, he brings a speed element that this offense needs and like he was playing really well in preseason.
- 53:18[SPEAKER_01]: James, like, I don't
- 53:23[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not, like, I am also like ready to see something different, especially in like special teams.
- 53:30[SPEAKER_01]: Just someone.
- 53:31[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, do something, please.
- 53:33[SPEAKER_00]: Yep, so thanks for that.
- 53:35[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I think that's exciting.
- 53:37[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, please.
- 53:38[SPEAKER_00]: Sure, there are special teams that's been okay this year, but the most part, I think, Boistered quite a bit by Eddie Piniero, not being terrible.
- 53:53[SPEAKER_01]: They're okay at kickoff defense.
- 53:58[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, the power turn is still proud.
- 54:01[SPEAKER_01]: Nice.
- 54:01[SPEAKER_01]: Thought get returning.
- 54:03[SPEAKER_01]: Truly awful.
- 54:04[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I'm totally blanking on who's their return or last year.
- 54:08[SPEAKER_01]: I can't believe I'm not remembering.
- 54:11[SPEAKER_00]: But uh, was it so random with that?
- 54:15[SPEAKER_01]: No, it was, it was, it was Jacob County.
- 54:19[SPEAKER_01]: Oh yeah, I really, I really like to see up to.
- 54:22[SPEAKER_01]: He's still hurt, right?
- 54:24[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, no.
- 54:25[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, it's J. I think the answer to the question every time, if we don't know what the answer is.
- 54:30[SPEAKER_01]: I really like how J.C.C.C.C.C.C.C.C.C.C.C.C.C.C.C.C.C.C.C.C.C.C.C.C.C.C.C.C.C.C.C.C.C.C.C.C.C.C.C.C.C.C.C.C.C.C.C.C.C.C.C.C.C.C.C.C.C.C.C.C.C.C.C.C.C.C.C.C.C.C.C.C.C.C.C.C.C.C.C.C.C.C.C.C.C.
- 54:50[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's time for a spark.
- 54:52[SPEAKER_00]: I think, I believe Jordan Walken's got to run last week if I'm not mistaken at turning, returning, building punts.
- 54:58[SPEAKER_00]: So.
- 54:59[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 54:59[SPEAKER_00]: Interesting.
- 55:00[SPEAKER_01]: Like, and that's what, that's what we need.
- 55:01[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 55:02[SPEAKER_00]: Something like, especially if the kids, I mean, he's unlikely to get on the field as a wider seever, even as thin as they are at this point, just because we know how Shannon is with these, with these guys.
- 55:13[SPEAKER_00]: Like, that's just how it is.
- 55:15[SPEAKER_00]: So see if you can use them.
- 55:17[SPEAKER_00]: I'm, I'm on board with that.
- 55:19[SPEAKER_03]: Yes.
- 55:20[SPEAKER_03]: Thank you.
