- 2:05Speaker 3: Millie Snyder from the Shape Shop is here as well.
- 2:08Speaker 3: We got breaking news though, I'm gonna go to Jeff
- 2:10Speaker 3: Jenkins in the newsroom now. Jeff, good morning, second day
- 2:12Speaker 3: in a row. I have you on to start the show.
- 2:14Speaker 3: What's going on on the west side this morning? To
- 2:15Speaker 3: Rob Patrick Street.
- 2:16Speaker 6: So we got a water main break there so, and
- 2:20Speaker 6: typically when you have big water main break, the most
- 2:23Speaker 6: action is at the beginning when it breaks, and thousands
- 2:28Speaker 6: and thousands and thousands and thousands of gallons of water
- 2:30Speaker 6: spew up in the air. And so that's what has
- 2:33Speaker 6: been happening within the last So I'm sure in Western
- 2:36Speaker 6: America they'll get there and they'll get a shut off
- 2:37Speaker 6: as soon as they can. But yeah, so it's basically
- 2:40Speaker 6: at Patrick Street Plaza at the intersection of Fourth Avend
- 2:43Speaker 6: It's basically the main intersection going into the Patrick Street
- 2:46Speaker 6: Plaza there by the railroad tracks which is you know,
- 2:50Speaker 6: it's the old k Marp which is now the U Haul,
- 2:53Speaker 6: big U Haul facility. So that's just looks like a
- 2:58Speaker 6: broken line and you know one of the main lines
- 3:01Speaker 6: in there, so a lot of water.
- 3:03Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 3:03Speaker 3: I actually saw a picture that was sent to me
- 3:06Speaker 3: from a mutual friend of ours, and I mean it
- 3:08Speaker 3: looks like you said, it's just exploding everywhere. So we'll
- 3:11Speaker 3: be working to try to get that.
- 3:12Speaker 6: So a couple of streets closed, Dave, in that area,
- 3:15Speaker 6: and so probably just a good idea to, you know,
- 3:19Speaker 6: maybe go a couple of streets over if you have
- 3:21Speaker 6: to be on that side or whatever, because it's just
- 3:22Speaker 6: kind of be messy there for a while.
- 3:24Speaker 3: All Right, Jeff, I appreciate it. We'll have more updates
- 3:27Speaker 3: on the air and of course online as well. Jeff
- 3:29Speaker 3: in the newsroom, I appreciate you being here. Thanks a lot.
- 3:31Speaker 3: The Dave Allen showing five Eybe line brought to you
- 3:33Speaker 3: part by Morgan to Morgan, America's largest injury law firm,
- 3:35Speaker 3: If You're injured, is for Thepeople dot Com. Look who's here.
- 3:39Speaker 3: It's Millie Snyder from the Shape Show.
- 3:41Speaker 8: I want to start off by saying, happy birthday to you,
- 3:46Speaker 8: Happy birthday to you, Happy birthday, dear Dave, Happy birthday
- 3:53Speaker 8: to you.
- 3:54Speaker 3: Well, thank you. Yeah, actually have a very lovely singing voice.
- 3:56Speaker 8: Thank you. I've been told that, well did you learn.
- 4:00Speaker 3: When you're hanging out at Barbara Striiscens house a couple
- 4:01Speaker 3: of years ago? Exactly if you didn't hear that story
- 4:05Speaker 3: a couple of years ago, Millie Snyder Actually.
- 4:07Speaker 8: And anytime anybody wants to hear it again, Yes, I'm
- 4:10Speaker 8: not over it.
- 4:11Speaker 3: She ended up at Barbara Streisand's house a couple of
- 4:13Speaker 3: years As matter of fact, I think the picture that
- 4:15Speaker 3: I posted on social media this morning previewing the show,
- 4:18Speaker 3: I have you in your barber Stris and T shirt.
- 4:20Speaker 8: Oh thank you.
- 4:21Speaker 3: I appreciate that my birthday was Monday, but nobody sang
- 4:24Speaker 3: to me so Murphy.
- 4:26Speaker 8: Off I did that, and I yes, thank.
- 4:30Speaker 3: You, all right, wants now with Millie Snyder.
- 4:32Speaker 8: Well, I want to just tell you that I am
- 4:37Speaker 8: so proud of our shop, our Shape shop, because we
- 4:41Speaker 8: really do keep the promise of never serving anything process
- 4:46Speaker 8: and there are there's so much out there. I don't
- 4:50Speaker 8: want to go on and on about what happened with
- 4:54Speaker 8: Boar's head, but we need to pay attention to the
- 4:57Speaker 8: fact that we have to read labels. We have to
- 5:00Speaker 8: make sure that what we're eating is clean, doesn't have chemicals,
- 5:05Speaker 8: doesn't have preservatives and god knows what else they're put
- 5:08Speaker 8: in it. And I'm sad for a big company like
- 5:12Speaker 8: that to have to close a place in someplace in
- 5:15Speaker 8: Virginia and lose five hundred jobs. That takes a serious time.
- 5:20Speaker 3: So they had to close that particular.
- 5:22Speaker 8: Facility, and I think they have other facilities. Oh yeah,
- 5:25Speaker 8: So this isn't about trashing.
- 5:27Speaker 3: Boards right exactly.
- 5:28Speaker 8: But the point is we need to pay attention as people.
- 5:31Speaker 8: What are you putting in your body? Take a few
- 5:34Speaker 8: extra minutes to read the label, and if you have
- 5:37Speaker 8: trouble pronouncing a word on the ingredients, put it down,
- 5:41Speaker 8: don't buy it because you don't need to ingest that product.
- 5:44Speaker 3: And that includes diet sodas, and yes, there, next time
- 5:48Speaker 3: you pick up a can of any diet soda that
- 5:50Speaker 3: you think that you're maybe eating or drinking, I guess healthy.
- 5:53Speaker 3: Look at the ingredients.
- 5:54Speaker 8: Well, you know, you know there's some diet sodas that
- 5:57Speaker 8: you can use to clean your.
- 5:58Speaker 3: Toilet clean and tolet out.
- 6:03Speaker 8: But yes, but I wasn't going to go there. Thank
- 6:05Speaker 8: you for doing that.
- 6:06Speaker 3: I don't care. I have no class. So, but there
- 6:10Speaker 3: are diet sodas out there if people want sodas and
- 6:12Speaker 3: you sell some in your store that are okay.
- 6:15Speaker 8: Yes I do, and I will always continue to do that.
- 6:18Speaker 8: But also the drink industry is paying attention to that
- 6:22Speaker 8: and they're putting out just playing Seltzer water or carbonated.
- 6:27Speaker 8: It doesn't have to be Seltzer per se, but carbonated
- 6:29Speaker 8: and it has like a fruit flavor to it, and
- 6:32Speaker 8: that's going to help people eventually break that yoke around
- 6:36Speaker 8: their neck because some people only drink diet soda and
- 6:40Speaker 8: they never drink water, and people ought to discover this stuff.
- 6:44Speaker 8: It's called h two. Oh it really works. I mean
- 6:47Speaker 8: there's a break over Patrick Street the water. Don't drink
- 6:51Speaker 8: that though, No, no, no, that I'm not recommending, and
- 6:54Speaker 8: that used to be our home. You know, we were
- 6:56Speaker 8: at Waite Watchers in Shape Shop was at Patrick Street
- 6:59Speaker 8: for I'm kind of glad I'm not there today.
- 7:02Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 7:02Speaker 8: Nonetheless, I hope that you HAUL will be able to,
- 7:05Speaker 8: you know, get good attention.
- 7:07Speaker 3: We forget. You know, there's so much now in the
- 7:10Speaker 3: world of drinks, with all the energy drinks and you know,
- 7:13Speaker 3: all the different ways and energy drinks or whatever, but
- 7:16Speaker 3: there's still nothing that's ever been invented to keep you
- 7:20Speaker 3: hydrated better than just plain old water, whether it's in
- 7:24Speaker 3: a bottle, whether it's in your tap, if you live
- 7:25Speaker 3: somewhere where you can have clean wherever, it's still much
- 7:28Speaker 3: better than any sort of anything with aid in the title.
- 7:31Speaker 8: And on that subject, I had a family wedding that
- 7:34Speaker 8: I attended in New Mexico and at this venue, in
- 7:39Speaker 8: the room, they gave us water in a cartan like
- 7:43Speaker 8: a little milk cart.
- 7:44Speaker 3: I've seen those, actually, and I was so impressed.
- 7:46Speaker 8: I was thinking how I could bring that home and
- 7:49Speaker 8: show it off. I'm just I was thrilled to see that.
- 7:52Speaker 8: And then it's not a can, so it doesn't have
- 7:55Speaker 8: to go into re well, I guess the cardboard has
- 7:57Speaker 8: to go into recycle, but just water in a paper cart.
- 8:01Speaker 3: Yeah, we're going back to that again. So now that
- 8:03Speaker 3: follow us here? What are you starting to wind down
- 8:05Speaker 3: a little bit? I know the answer to that, snow,
- 8:07Speaker 3: but I just thought I'd go ahead and try line down?
- 8:09Speaker 9: Yeah?
- 8:09Speaker 3: What is what is winding?
- 8:11Speaker 8: And I don't even know how to spell that, let
- 8:13Speaker 8: alone one our food truck was going to slack Plaza today,
- 8:18Speaker 8: which is City Center East. That's the more official title,
- 8:21Speaker 8: but because of the rain. We got to call you know,
- 8:23Speaker 8: late yesterday that we're going to scrub today.
- 8:26Speaker 3: Yeah, they're not doing it at all today.
- 8:27Speaker 8: Right because you know, there's no there's no no one's
- 8:31Speaker 8: going to come out and you know it's a big
- 8:32Speaker 8: expense to take the truck to anything, but we're happy
- 8:35Speaker 8: to do it.
- 8:37Speaker 3: And any any dates you want to plug where you
- 8:39Speaker 3: are going to be here.
- 8:40Speaker 8: Well, tomorrow we're going to be at the I believe
- 8:43Speaker 8: it's called well Garlow Insurance and South Charleston, and then
- 8:48Speaker 8: we do have some events coming up. I believe in
- 8:51Speaker 8: the middle of October we're going to do recovery down
- 8:54Speaker 8: on Magic Island. But it's not nearly as busy as
- 8:59Speaker 8: we come into this time of the year as it
- 9:01Speaker 8: is when we're in the summertime, because summertime there's not
- 9:05Speaker 8: enough of us to go around to you know, hit
- 9:07Speaker 8: all the place.
- 9:07Speaker 3: Well you can't, you can't possibly.
- 9:08Speaker 8: Meantime, they could come to the Shape Shop.
- 9:10Speaker 3: And that's what That's exactly what I was going to say.
- 9:12Speaker 8: That's seven oh six Central Avenue. It's on the west
- 9:15Speaker 8: side and it's so easy to find and there's been
- 9:18Speaker 8: a lot of improvements to Central Avenue and the West
- 9:21Speaker 8: Side in general easy to find us.
- 9:23Speaker 3: Plenty of free parking.
- 9:24Speaker 8: Plenty, I mean plenty.
- 9:26Speaker 3: There's me right in front of the store too, yes.
- 9:30Speaker 5: You know.
- 9:30Speaker 8: And if someone is handicap, there's two handicap spots right
- 9:34Speaker 8: in front of the store. We also have a a ramp,
- 9:38Speaker 8: so if you're in a wheelchair, please don't use that
- 9:41Speaker 8: as a deterran come in and we have an automatic
- 9:44Speaker 8: door that opens. We really want to welcome people into
- 9:48Speaker 8: our shop so they can enjoy what we offer.
- 9:51Speaker 3: I want to talk about the classes you have. Tell
- 9:52Speaker 3: me about the different classes. Mediterranean.
- 9:55Speaker 8: I teach the Mediterranean lifestyle and I do that on
- 9:58Speaker 8: Thursday morning at fifteen and again on Saturday morning at
- 10:03Speaker 8: nine fifteen. And Mediterranean eating is clean, pure food. It's
- 10:09Speaker 8: delicious and it's been around for centuries. People who eat
- 10:13Speaker 8: Mediterranean food live a long time without medication. It increases
- 10:18Speaker 8: their longevity and they walk around with a smile on
- 10:21Speaker 8: their face.
- 10:22Speaker 3: Can you imagine, indeed, and give us a couple of
- 10:24Speaker 3: the key foods that are in the Mediterranean diet. I
- 10:28Speaker 3: mean there's so many, but or you know, but just
- 10:30Speaker 3: give me, I mean, I know it's very big on fish,
- 10:32Speaker 3: and you serve.
- 10:32Speaker 8: Not very big. We only want you to eat it
- 10:34Speaker 8: twice a week.
- 10:35Speaker 3: Okay, I'm sorry.
- 10:36Speaker 8: I don't want you to go fish and those swimming
- 10:37Speaker 8: down the you know, we don't want you to swim
- 10:39Speaker 8: in the canal, but I wouldn't recommend that anyway.
- 10:42Speaker 3: You're not gonna grow gills or anything though what you're saying.
- 10:44Speaker 3: But you do have some delicious salmon though, because I've.
- 10:46Speaker 8: Had it, and I wish you'd come in and have
- 10:48Speaker 8: it again because it is fabulous. It's not good, it's fabulous,
- 10:51Speaker 8: and some people just cannot believe. But I have one
- 10:54Speaker 8: customer who gets it for six nights, I think in
- 10:57Speaker 8: the week. But I think I would get tired of
- 11:00Speaker 8: eating it.
- 11:00Speaker 3: Yeah night.
- 11:01Speaker 8: Yeah, but I always have variety in my house. But
- 11:04Speaker 8: and I tried different things. One night it can be shrimped.
- 11:07Speaker 8: One night, it could be swordfish. One night, it could
- 11:10Speaker 8: be fresh tuna. Sometimes it's cantuna. But just have two
- 11:14Speaker 8: fish meals a week, and we don't overdo because sadly,
- 11:19Speaker 8: our oceans aren't clean, so we don't want to eat
- 11:22Speaker 8: fish five six times a week.
- 11:24Speaker 3: Good point. And I thought about that you had something
- 11:27Speaker 3: you wanted to say before you left there, you had
- 11:29Speaker 3: something you wanted to put out there.
- 11:30Speaker 2: To the people.
- 11:31Speaker 8: Well, I want to read a story, all right, go ahead,
- 11:33Speaker 8: and it's called the cookie principle. A young girl explains
- 11:36Speaker 8: the world to her newborn brother. I'm your old five
- 11:41Speaker 8: year old sister, Laurie, and you're my baby brother, Alex.
- 11:45Speaker 8: Since you're only two weeks old, I'm going to splain
- 11:48Speaker 8: life because it's not easy for you. I know. I
- 11:51Speaker 8: was young ones too. Grown Ups can make their can't
- 11:54Speaker 8: make up their minds. First they want one thing, then another.
- 11:58Speaker 8: I know what I want. I want a cookie, But
- 12:01Speaker 8: mommy said, no, how about a banana? She said, a
- 12:04Speaker 8: cookie will ruin my appetite for supper. I don't want supper.
- 12:07Speaker 8: Supper ruins my appetite for a cookie, and I don't
- 12:10Speaker 8: want a banana. I want a cookie. You see, grown
- 12:13Speaker 8: ups are always trying to get us to do stuff
- 12:15Speaker 8: we don't want to do. If there's a TV show
- 12:17Speaker 8: I want to watch, Mommy tries to get me to
- 12:19Speaker 8: color or play a game. By the time I get
- 12:21Speaker 8: to be a grown up, I won't know what I
- 12:23Speaker 8: want any more. But kids know what they want. Do
- 12:27Speaker 8: we want to go to bed. No, we do want
- 12:30Speaker 8: a cookie. Yes. When was the last time somebody asked
- 12:33Speaker 8: kids if they wanted to do something and the kids said,
- 12:36Speaker 8: we don't know. I kind of feel sorry for Mommy
- 12:38Speaker 8: and Daddy. They can't help it. They're grown ups. They
- 12:41Speaker 8: can't decide whether to leave the toilet seat up or down.
- 12:45Speaker 8: Daddy wants it up, Mommy wants it down. They were
- 12:48Speaker 8: talking real loud about it today. I asked them why
- 12:50Speaker 8: they were arguing. Daddy said they weren't arguing. He said
- 12:54Speaker 8: they were discussing. After they were done, I snuck in
- 12:57Speaker 8: the bathroom. I put the toilet seat back up so
- 13:00Speaker 8: I could hear them discuss it again. Mommy can't decide
- 13:03Speaker 8: what to fix for dinner. I told her to fix cookies.
- 13:06Speaker 8: She said no. In the morning, she can't decide what
- 13:09Speaker 8: to wear. Daddy asked her what she wants to do Saturday.
- 13:12Speaker 8: She said she doesn't know. Daddy is just as bad.
- 13:15Speaker 8: Each night he grows whiskers, but in the morning he
- 13:17Speaker 8: changes his mind and shaves them off. Then he sits
- 13:20Speaker 8: in his chair with his mote control and changes channel
- 13:23Speaker 8: all the time. Daddy's been a grown up for too long.
- 13:26Speaker 8: He doesn't know what to watch. I bet when he
- 13:28Speaker 8: was a kid he wanted a cookie real bad, but
- 13:30Speaker 8: his parents made him eat different foods like bananas and stuff.
- 13:34Speaker 8: He doesn't even know which jobby should do. He is
- 13:37Speaker 8: thinking about changing jobs, but it's hard for him to decide.
- 13:40Speaker 8: So Daddy listened to a tape. The man on the
- 13:42Speaker 8: tape said, people who are cessful figure out what they
- 13:46Speaker 8: want and go after it. In that case, I'm going
- 13:48Speaker 8: to be real cessful because I really want a cookie.
- 13:52Speaker 8: When the tape was over, Mommy was nice. She talked
- 13:55Speaker 8: real sweet to Daddy and asked him which job he
- 13:57Speaker 8: really wanted. Daddy was sad. He shook his head and
- 14:01Speaker 8: said he didn't know, so Mommy hugged him. I hugged
- 14:04Speaker 8: him too, and I gave him a cookie.
- 14:07Speaker 3: So that's all we need is a cookie to be happy,
- 14:09Speaker 3: exactly right, which can't have cookies in moderation In moderation
- 14:14Speaker 3: day you could have thirty or forty and I don't
- 14:17Speaker 3: know how that happens.
- 14:18Speaker 8: Why did I look at you when you said that,
- 14:20Speaker 8: Because we love cookies. And by the way, on the
- 14:23Speaker 8: Mediterranean lifestyle, occasionally if you want something sweet, please have
- 14:28Speaker 8: it because you know, we cause problems when you put
- 14:31Speaker 8: it off. Yeah, can't have it, can't have it, can
- 14:33Speaker 8: have it? And then when you do have it, you're
- 14:35Speaker 8: out of control. Yeah.

- 17:44Speaker 3: of businesses that are doing great things here in the
- 17:46Speaker 3: Kenaw Valley and around the state. One of those is
- 17:49Speaker 3: Jared Construction. They're about to celebrate their twenty fifth anniversary.
- 17:52Speaker 3: John Jarrett, the founder in the namesake of the company,
- 17:54Speaker 3: joins us now from the pal Mars Store studio. John,
- 17:56Speaker 3: good morning, Welcome to the show.
- 17:58Speaker 13: Hey, good morning, Dave. Is a pleasure to be here.
- 18:00Speaker 13: Thanks for having us on.
- 18:01Speaker 3: It's a tough act to follow when you've got to
- 18:03Speaker 3: follow Millie Snyder. You know that, right.
- 18:05Speaker 13: Millie was out there selling me in the green room,
- 18:08Speaker 13: so that's where we're headed to lunch today. She did
- 18:10Speaker 13: a great job.
- 18:10Speaker 3: The food is fantastic there. It's very very good, you know, John.
- 18:16Speaker 3: I was looking around at some of the projects you
- 18:18Speaker 3: and your company have completed in the past, and I
- 18:21Speaker 3: will say this for the people listening, they probably pass
- 18:24Speaker 3: a Jarrett Construction building a few times a week, and
- 18:27Speaker 3: their travels if he travels as much as I do
- 18:29Speaker 3: around the state or whatever, you probably have. What are
- 18:32Speaker 3: some of the projects that you've done in the past
- 18:35Speaker 3: that people may know about, or something that you're working
- 18:37Speaker 3: on the future.
- 18:38Speaker 13: Well, Dave, folks here in Charleston, Morgantown, throughout the state
- 18:42Speaker 13: of West Virginia, I they very well may pass some
- 18:45Speaker 13: of our jobs. One of the large projects that we've
- 18:48Speaker 13: done here twenty years ago was for mine Senior ed Sadie,
- 18:52Speaker 13: dear friend and mentor client of ours. It's the Gathering
- 18:56Speaker 13: Space Edition right across the street, just down the street
- 18:59Speaker 13: from where we're sitting here in the Parmar Studios. The
- 19:03Speaker 13: Gathering Space Edition was a wonderful project. Took three hundred
- 19:07Speaker 13: tons of sandstone that was quarried out of a mine
- 19:10Speaker 13: in Boyerstown, Pennsylvania. Then it was shipped to Cleveland to
- 19:15Speaker 13: get cut and shaped, and then shipped to Rock Branch,
- 19:18Speaker 13: West Virginia to be sand blasted, and then brought right
- 19:21Speaker 13: back here to Charleston to be laid. So that project
- 19:25Speaker 13: was a wonderful job for us. The Graylock Energy Building
- 19:30Speaker 13: in Northgate and a lot of people see that unless
- 19:32Speaker 13: you're in Northgate. That was built for our friend Kyle
- 19:35Speaker 13: Mork and his company, Energy Corporation of America seven to
- 19:39Speaker 13: ten years ago. One of the larger projects that we've done.
- 19:43Speaker 13: And we're getting ready to start a project right across
- 19:46Speaker 13: the river that you and I were at a couple
- 19:48Speaker 13: of weeks ago for Parmar.
- 19:50Speaker 3: Yeah, this is the one over on there and and
- 19:53Speaker 3: trust people have been asking ever since those signs went up,
- 19:55Speaker 3: when is that going to be built? When you're going
- 19:57Speaker 3: to start. They had the groundbreaking just like it's two
- 19:59Speaker 3: wee weeks ago or so, so you should start seeing
- 20:02Speaker 3: the dirt flying for real here soon.
- 20:05Speaker 13: Very soon. We're waiting. The guys at Palmar have a
- 20:08Speaker 13: consultants engaged to produce a report. Once we get that
- 20:11Speaker 13: report and able to send it to the state, we'll
- 20:14Speaker 13: get started. We're ready to go.
- 20:16Speaker 3: Talk about the history of the company. John, Where did
- 20:18Speaker 3: Jerreed Construction start? I know some of the history because
- 20:21Speaker 3: you and I talked about it a couple of weeks ago,
- 20:23Speaker 3: But for the people that don't know, just give us
- 20:25Speaker 3: the history of Jery Constructure, Dave.
- 20:27Speaker 13: We started in Cross Lanes in my son's eight by
- 20:30Speaker 13: ten bedroom twenty five years ago, converted that his bedroom
- 20:35Speaker 13: to our first office.
- 20:37Speaker 3: Sorry, son, you'll have to sleep on the couch.
- 20:39Speaker 13: Daddy's working, you know, whatever it takes as a family affair.
- 20:44Speaker 13: He happens to be working for us now in our
- 20:46Speaker 13: Morgantown office. He was two years old at the time.
- 20:51Speaker 13: But we started there in Cross Lanes, moved to a
- 20:54Speaker 13: small office in Cross Lanes, and then in two thousand
- 20:58Speaker 13: and four we were able to buy the old Red Cross
- 21:02Speaker 13: building right here on Virginia Street, about three blocks east
- 21:05Speaker 13: of us, right next to the Capital. So we started
- 21:10Speaker 13: moved there in two thousand and four, two thousand and five,
- 21:13Speaker 13: and we work all over the state day. We design
- 21:15Speaker 13: and build buildings, whether it whether it would be a
- 21:18Speaker 13: sports complex or a medical office, a hospital, affordable housing.
- 21:24Speaker 13: We'll do just about anything vertical construction.
- 21:28Speaker 3: And again were talking with John jar to Jared Construction,
- 21:30Speaker 3: and I know you're planning a little celebration for some
- 21:33Speaker 3: of your customers and friends, and that should be a
- 21:36Speaker 3: good time kind of looking back at all the different
- 21:38Speaker 3: things that you've done.
- 21:39Speaker 13: Yes, sir, Saturday evening, we have some clients and friends
- 21:43Speaker 13: and mentors that are coming to an event here in Charleston.
- 21:48Speaker 13: We're looking forward to that to take a breath and
- 21:52Speaker 13: celebrate and gratitude and then get back to work and
- 21:55Speaker 13: then right back to work. But Dave, we are grateful,
- 21:58Speaker 13: and just take a second here. There's been been a
- 22:00Speaker 13: lot of folks that have helped us along the way.
- 22:02Speaker 13: But we give thanks first and foremost to God for
- 22:05Speaker 13: the blessings that he's given us. Just I can tell
- 22:09Speaker 13: you there's not enough time in this show here today,
- 22:11Speaker 13: but he's given us opportunities and he's kept us out
- 22:14Speaker 13: of trouble on a lot of things, and so we're
- 22:16Speaker 13: we're blessed for that. Many many folks, the folks that
- 22:20Speaker 13: work for us all have significant years.
- 22:23Speaker 8: Now.
- 22:23Speaker 13: We've hired a couple of new young folks that right
- 22:26Speaker 13: out of the WVU Tech Construction Management program, which I'd
- 22:30Speaker 13: like to visit with you a little bit about. But
- 22:32Speaker 13: our entire team the great folks to work with and
- 22:36Speaker 13: that's what helped get us here today.
- 22:39Speaker 3: Can we talk with John Jared to Jared Construction the
- 22:41Speaker 3: Dave Island showing five Ady Life broad to a part
- 22:43Speaker 3: by Hustands Pizza. This month's your Favorite Hustan's get a
- 22:45Speaker 3: large a ten inch pepper ony pizza and an eight
- 22:47Speaker 3: inch chocolate chip cookie only twenty three to ninety nine.
- 22:50Speaker 3: Talk about this deal you got on WVU Tech, This
- 22:53Speaker 3: construction management program a one hundred You told me in
- 22:56Speaker 3: some notes you gave me you have a one hundred
- 22:58Speaker 3: percent higher rate. That's pretty dang good.
- 23:01Speaker 13: John, Pretty good, Dave. I tell you, the construction construction
- 23:05Speaker 13: management program at Tech was started about six years ago.
- 23:09Speaker 13: I helped plant the seeds of having that program developed.
- 23:14Speaker 13: The Tech folks got it going, and since the first
- 23:18Speaker 13: cohort was graduated two years ago, one percent every student
- 23:23Speaker 13: that has graduated has had a job at or before graduation.
- 23:28Speaker 13: And these are good jobs, Dave. They're paying anywhere from
- 23:31Speaker 13: sixty seven to seventy five thousand dollars a year working
- 23:36Speaker 13: for contractors and engineering firms throughout West Virginia.
- 23:40Speaker 3: And also understand that you're looking at hiring some people.
- 23:43Speaker 13: We are day. We have a need right now for
- 23:47Speaker 13: superintendents and project managers. So anyone that has a little
- 23:51Speaker 13: bit of experience in the construction, the vertical construction field,
- 23:55Speaker 13: we'd love to talk to them. They can get to
- 23:58Speaker 13: jump on our website. There's a high hiring tab there.
- 24:01Speaker 13: Click on that submit a resume. We'd be happy to
- 24:04Speaker 13: look at it and talk to them. But we again,
- 24:06Speaker 13: we work all over West Virginia. I'm a seventh generation
- 24:10Speaker 13: West Virginia. The fact that I'm very proud of and
- 24:14Speaker 13: just love this state and love what it's done for us,
- 24:17Speaker 13: and we've got folks ready to put them to work.
- 24:20Speaker 13: One of the things we like to do, Dave, is
- 24:21Speaker 13: bring what I call transplanted West Virginians, West Virginians that
- 24:25Speaker 13: are in Charlotte or Cleveland or Washington, DC, or wherever
- 24:29Speaker 13: they may have had to go to get work. We
- 24:31Speaker 13: love to bring those folks back, and we've got jobs
- 24:34Speaker 13: right now for them. So if you or a family
- 24:37Speaker 13: member knows somebody that would love to get back to
- 24:39Speaker 13: West Virginia, have them call me.
- 24:41Speaker 3: And we'll give you the contact information at the end
- 24:43Speaker 3: of the segment here. One of the things I saw
- 24:45Speaker 3: that you did, and it kind of piqued my interest
- 24:48Speaker 3: because of my being a native Logan County, is you
- 24:52Speaker 3: just completed a project down there a couple of months ago.
- 24:55Speaker 3: It's built as the states first veteran focused affordable housing project,
- 25:00Speaker 3: and I Actually, the last time I was in La
- 25:02Speaker 3: as we called it, the natives call it La. Last
- 25:05Speaker 3: time I was in La, I drove by and I
- 25:07Speaker 3: took a look at that building. It's right in the
- 25:08Speaker 3: heart of downtown Logan. That is an impressive, impressive facility.
- 25:12Speaker 3: And I know you worked with some folks that I
- 25:14Speaker 3: know very well down there talk about that project.
- 25:17Speaker 13: Well, that was a fabulous project, just one we were
- 25:20Speaker 13: blessed to be affiliated with. It is indeed the first
- 25:25Speaker 13: veterans focused affordable housing project in the entire state of
- 25:30Speaker 13: West Virginia. I just commend the folks in Logan, the
- 25:33Speaker 13: mayor and his entire team. They couldn't have been more
- 25:38Speaker 13: helpful to us day. They just they cleared out rocks
- 25:42Speaker 13: that were in the road, obstacles that kept the project
- 25:46Speaker 13: from happening. They helped remove those. Our client AU associates
- 25:50Speaker 13: from Lexington. The vision and foresight they had to bring
- 25:54Speaker 13: this kind of affordable housing to West Virginia with the
- 25:58Speaker 13: help of our friends at the West Virginia Housing Fund.
- 26:00Speaker 13: It couldn't happen without the folks at the Fund making
- 26:04Speaker 13: the tax credits available. And it is fully leased. It
- 26:09Speaker 13: was almost fully leased the day it opened, and it's
- 26:12Speaker 13: just a wonderful modern facility that provides great housing for veterans.
- 26:18Speaker 3: It would be nice, and that's a fantastic facility. Would
- 26:21Speaker 3: be nice we could see a few more of those
- 26:23Speaker 3: around the state of West Virginia, because John, as you
- 26:25Speaker 3: well know, West Virginia has given more per capita than
- 26:28Speaker 3: any other state in the entire nation that have fought
- 26:31Speaker 3: and died for our country, and for the ones that
- 26:34Speaker 3: are still around, we need to do what we can
- 26:36Speaker 3: to help them out. That's one of the things that
- 26:37Speaker 3: I really respect about your company, John, is that you
- 26:41Speaker 3: do go the extra mile for our veterans, and I'd
- 26:44Speaker 3: love to have about five to ten more of those
- 26:45Speaker 3: around the state of West Virginia.
- 26:47Speaker 13: That's indeed, it'd be wonderful. We have several veterans that
- 26:49Speaker 13: worked or retired from our company. It's hard for me
- 26:52Speaker 13: to believe, Dave, that I've got folks that are actually
- 26:55Speaker 13: retiring from Jarrett Construction. It seems like yesterday that I
- 27:00Speaker 13: was sweating who's going to buy the first box of
- 27:03Speaker 13: paper clips for the company, And now now we've actually
- 27:07Speaker 13: got guys that are retiring. And again, we've just been
- 27:10Speaker 13: blessed and Without that team that surrounds me, we would
- 27:15Speaker 13: not We just wouldn't be here today.
- 27:17Speaker 3: I'm talking with John Jared to Jared Construction. Another thing
- 27:20Speaker 3: that I think that I have a lot of respect
- 27:22Speaker 3: for your company for doing is you'd like to do
- 27:24Speaker 3: things to honor our first responders from time to time.
- 27:27Speaker 3: And one of those, I think you're going to have
- 27:30Speaker 3: a celebration of sorts in Huntington coming up. You've done
- 27:33Speaker 3: these in Charleston in the past, but now you're going
- 27:35Speaker 3: to do something for the folks of Huntington. Talk about
- 27:37Speaker 3: what you're doing for first responders.
- 27:39Speaker 13: Fantastic, Dave yes, sir. Next Wednesday at noon, we are
- 27:43Speaker 13: having a first responder celebration at our affordable housing project
- 27:47Speaker 13: on Eighth Avenue. So if you can hear my voice
- 27:50Speaker 13: and you're in the Huntington area, please feel free. If
- 27:53Speaker 13: you're a first responder, please feel free to stop by.
- 27:56Speaker 13: We're going to treat you to lunch. You know, first
- 27:58Speaker 13: responders mean so much to us and take care of
- 28:02Speaker 13: us and our time and need, and we have an
- 28:04Speaker 13: opportunity with this project to provide lunch for them and
- 28:09Speaker 13: show them how much we appreciate them. So we hope
- 28:12Speaker 13: that they all can attend. We did this a few
- 28:15Speaker 13: years ago here at our project out at South Ridge
- 28:19Speaker 13: behind Bible Center Church. We had to Charleston and South
- 28:24Speaker 13: Charleston first responders attended that and we're able to continue
- 28:27Speaker 13: that this year in Huntington on Eighth Avenue at the
- 28:32Speaker 13: new affordable housing complex we're building.
- 28:34Speaker 3: All right, John, I appreciate you being here. I want
- 28:37Speaker 3: to tell the folks though about where they can reach you,
- 28:39Speaker 3: because I know you threw that thing out there about
- 28:41Speaker 3: needing some people to fill some what are high paying
- 28:45Speaker 3: jobs with your company. So what's the best way for
- 28:47Speaker 3: people to contact you.
- 28:48Speaker 13: You can call the office Dave at three O four
- 28:50Speaker 13: three four four ninety one forty as three oh four
- 28:54Speaker 13: three four four ninety one forty or you can visit
- 28:57Speaker 13: our website at Jarrett dash can Instruction dot com. That's
- 29:02Speaker 13: Jarrett dash Construction dot com. Again, we're looking for good
- 29:05Speaker 13: people to join our team. We've got outstanding folks to
- 29:08Speaker 13: work that are working with us now and we're looking
- 29:11Speaker 13: forward to moving forward for the next twenty five years.
- 29:15Speaker 3: All right, And I know that you guys are looking
- 29:17Speaker 3: for people in general, and you talked about wanting superintendents
- 29:19Speaker 3: and things of that nature. But there may be people
- 29:21Speaker 3: listening that say, well, I don't have any experience in
- 29:23Speaker 3: any of this, but i'd like to get involved. You're
- 29:24Speaker 3: not going to turn anybody away, I would think, as
- 29:26Speaker 3: long as they as long as they're clean and they
- 29:28Speaker 3: can come to work for you. You've got a lot
- 29:29Speaker 3: of different positions available.
- 29:31Speaker 13: And we are always on the lookout for good people, Dave,
- 29:34Speaker 13: good people, good West Virginia's that's what we're looking forward to.
- 29:38Speaker 13: And again, I can't overemphasize if you are a loved
- 29:41Speaker 13: one or a family member is working off in one
- 29:44Speaker 13: of the big cities and wants to come back to
- 29:46Speaker 13: West Virginia. Those are the kind of folks we're looking for.
- 29:49Speaker 3: All right, John Jarrett, it's been a pleasure to have
- 29:51Speaker 3: you on the show today.
- 29:52Speaker 13: Thank you, Thank you, Baty.

- 35:12Speaker 3: Good morning. Welcome to the show. Mayor.
- 35:15Speaker 5: Hey, good morning, Dave. How you doing.
- 35:16Speaker 3: I'm doing fine, man, Thanks for coming on. I know
- 35:19Speaker 3: you have two big days of events coming up this
- 35:22Speaker 3: Friday and Saturday in Bell, and we'll get to those
- 35:24Speaker 3: in a moment, but I first want to ask you otherwise,
- 35:26Speaker 3: what's going on in the town of Bell. What's good
- 35:28Speaker 3: these days?
- 35:29Speaker 5: Okay, Dave, I appreciate that. And things have been going
- 35:33Speaker 5: fairly well. And we've actually just let out a contract
- 35:40Speaker 5: with GAI Consultants through the Regional inter Governmental Council trying
- 35:46Speaker 5: to just look at putting in some new street lights
- 35:50Speaker 5: through BAIL and just kind of sprucing up the DuPont
- 35:55Speaker 5: Avenue through bail. Tom it go ahead, work a little
- 36:00Speaker 5: better and everything. And then we've also let out a contract.
- 36:04Speaker 5: We've got a Muria in Bell that's got an old
- 36:06Speaker 5: West Virginia map on it with Bell marked in the
- 36:09Speaker 5: middle or in the place where Bell is. And from that,
- 36:15Speaker 5: we've actually had a contract to have to paint a
- 36:17Speaker 5: new murial on Bell. What's a couple other towns around
- 36:21Speaker 5: us have done so too, So so we're really trying
- 36:24Speaker 5: to canna spruce up DuPont Avenue. And then here lately
- 36:29Speaker 5: we've had some older dilapidated structures that has actually been
- 36:34Speaker 5: torn down, so so we really feel like some good
- 36:38Speaker 5: things are happening.
- 36:40Speaker 3: Talking to Dave Fletcher from the town of Bell, I'm
- 36:42Speaker 3: gonna give you an opportunity to sell your town a
- 36:44Speaker 3: little bit, not literally, mayor, but why should we people
- 36:47Speaker 3: are looking at coming into the area, or maybe they're
- 36:50Speaker 3: unhappy with where they live. Give me a cell job.
- 36:52Speaker 3: Why should people live in bell Well?
- 36:55Speaker 5: I think with us, it's the old small town, the atmosphere.
- 37:00Speaker 5: We've got good police protection, we've got good trash and
- 37:05Speaker 5: garbage services and street department services. We've got a great
- 37:10Speaker 5: fire department. I got a few businesses here in Bail
- 37:15Speaker 5: that and we've actually just picked up a new business
- 37:20Speaker 5: that's getting ready to open here probably within the month.
- 37:24Speaker 5: A gentleman bringing in a hair salon in a barbershop
- 37:30Speaker 5: so you know, we've got the funeral home that's been
- 37:33Speaker 5: here since back in the I think forties, Boyd Caterpillar
- 37:40Speaker 5: here with the Caterpillar dealership. Heres had some job openings
- 37:47Speaker 5: and everything right above bail. We've had Oxyer Welding come
- 37:51Speaker 5: in here from the Dixie area, So I think the
- 37:55Speaker 5: area is starting to move somewhat.

- 38:10Speaker 3: get to this fall festival, if I'm correct, Mayor of Vents,
- 38:12Speaker 3: are going on both Friday evening and all day Saturday.
- 38:14Speaker 5: Is that right, Yes, sir. We will start actually at
- 38:19Speaker 5: noon on Friday and start out. We've got actually about
- 38:24Speaker 5: forty vendors or so that's coming into town. That will
- 38:29Speaker 5: be food vendors, it will be craft vendors. We've got
- 38:33Speaker 5: pastries things like that, and you know, but just a
- 38:39Speaker 5: good time, you know. By all we've got a couple
- 38:43Speaker 5: of politicians that will set up some boosts that are
- 38:46Speaker 5: running in the fall election. And then from there, we've
- 38:50Speaker 5: actually got our plans being Arkland Chemical which was the
- 38:57Speaker 5: old Bell Chemical company at the kim Orris Plan. We'll
- 39:01Speaker 5: be setting up and doing some things there. The local
- 39:04Speaker 5: bank here in town, Whitefield State Bank will be set
- 39:07Speaker 5: up promoting their products and things and other vendors coming in.
- 39:13Speaker 5: And then with that we'll have some entertainment later on
- 39:17Speaker 5: in the evening. We've got actually Josh Pantry, who's a
- 39:21Speaker 5: local guy here, went to local schools here and everything
- 39:25Speaker 5: from up Campbell's Creek. And then that'll be from five
- 39:30Speaker 5: point thirty to seven, and then we'll have from eight
- 39:33Speaker 5: to ten o'clock. We've got the Exiles, which is an
- 39:36Speaker 5: older band from the East Bank area, so they'll close
- 39:40Speaker 5: out the night. Then we'll open back up Saturday morning.
- 39:45Speaker 5: The big thing, especially with the de Walk that's gone
- 39:48Speaker 5: away in Charleston, we've had our car show here the
- 39:53Speaker 5: last few years, and we will actually start registration at
- 39:57Speaker 5: nine o'clock in the morning and that will until three o'clock.
- 40:02Speaker 5: With that being said, you know throughout today and everything,
- 40:06Speaker 5: we'll have a DJ. We'll have fifty to fifty tickets
- 40:10Speaker 5: we'll be giving away trophies and plaques and everything for
- 40:13Speaker 5: the cars. So the last couple of years we've built
- 40:17Speaker 5: that from about sixty to eighty. We're hoping for one
- 40:21Speaker 5: hundred or more this year. And then throughout today Oliver
- 40:26Speaker 5: Vendors will be open and then ending up the evening,
- 40:31Speaker 5: we've got Hard Rain, which is a local gentleman from
- 40:34Speaker 5: six thirty to seven thirty here in Bail, and then
- 40:38Speaker 5: we've got the world famous Rick Kay's Road Show, which
- 40:42Speaker 5: you've been around here for many years, especially in South
- 40:46Speaker 5: Charleston there everything at Summerfest, and they'll actually play from
- 40:50Speaker 5: eight to nine thirty and we'll close everything down around
- 40:54Speaker 5: ten o'clock Saturday night.
- 40:56Speaker 3: Are you still the need of vendors, Mayor if somebody
- 40:58Speaker 3: has that they want to get a booth, can and
- 41:00Speaker 3: they still do.
- 41:00Speaker 5: That, they still can and will Mark Samara is off
- 41:04Speaker 5: and if they come in then they can actually you know,
- 41:08Speaker 5: come in and actually with that we're selling those twelve
- 41:12Speaker 5: but twelve spots for twenty five dollars for a registration fee,
- 41:17Speaker 5: and then we ask them to bring their table and everything.
- 41:21Speaker 5: We've got some with power and we've got some many
- 41:25Speaker 5: without power.
- 41:27Speaker 3: And I know the weather. Of course, it's raining here
- 41:29Speaker 3: and everybody's welcoming the weather right now because we need
- 41:32Speaker 3: the rain. And it looks like that Friday is going
- 41:34Speaker 3: to be the rainiest day, and the weather forecaster is
- 41:36Speaker 3: telling me that by Saturday, just a couple of spotty showers.
- 41:39Speaker 3: Because I know, I got a brother in law it's
- 41:41Speaker 3: all into the car show thing, and I know that
- 41:43Speaker 3: they're kind of a particular about that bringing their cars out.
- 41:46Speaker 3: But it looks like though by Saturday that things should
- 41:50Speaker 3: be should be good to go there.
- 41:52Speaker 5: Hopefully, Yeah, and we are hoping for the same thing
- 41:56Speaker 5: to Dave. And you know, with us, you know, we
- 41:59Speaker 5: can always move the entertainment in the evening into City
- 42:03Speaker 5: Hall and do everything in the gymnasium and the stage area,
- 42:08Speaker 5: which is you know, pretty good for us, especially for
- 42:10Speaker 5: the vendors or for the music. But the vendors, you know,
- 42:14Speaker 5: are the ones that we're really worried about making sure that,
- 42:18Speaker 5: you know, if they come up and you know, invest
- 42:21Speaker 5: some time with us here in town. We want to
- 42:23Speaker 5: see him, you know, do well.
- 42:26Speaker 3: Mayor where's the best place to get information? I know
- 42:28Speaker 3: I've got some stuff off of your social media pages.
- 42:30Speaker 3: I know that. Is it the town of the Town
- 42:34Speaker 3: of Bill on their Facebook page or what's the best
- 42:36Speaker 3: place to get information?
- 42:37Speaker 5: Yes, sir, and we do have a Bill Town Festival
- 42:44Speaker 5: and Car Show web page or Facebook page, and then
- 42:48Speaker 5: we've got it under my Facebook page, David Fletcher. There's
- 42:52Speaker 5: some things out there, and there's some things there one
- 42:55Speaker 5: of our council members, which happens to be my daughter,
- 42:58Speaker 5: Nicole Fletcher, but they can pretty much find everything at
- 43:03Speaker 5: one of those three places.
- 43:04Speaker 3: All right, Mayor, wish to the best of luck. The

- 47:01Speaker 7: Good morning, Dave.
- 47:02Speaker 3: Let's recap game one. It not ended like we wanted,
- 47:05Speaker 3: but to give us a recap.
- 47:06Speaker 7: Anyway, No, it was rough. I mean, I barely want
- 47:10Speaker 7: to talk about it, to be honest. If you the
- 47:12Speaker 7: big thing that the Dirty Birds didn't do, we didn't
- 47:14Speaker 7: hit only one hit for the entire game. Is impressive
- 47:18Speaker 7: that we score three runs outside of that, but in
- 47:22Speaker 7: Game four we had seventeen hits last week, so we
- 47:26Speaker 7: know we can hit. We just need to come back
- 47:28Speaker 7: strong tonight and we'll be just okay.
- 47:31Speaker 3: And onto Game two tonight is in six point thirty five,
- 47:34Speaker 3: first pitch at Gomart Ballpark, and we do want to
- 47:38Speaker 3: you know, stress that although we have this rain, nobody's
- 47:40Speaker 3: going to complain about the rain. Playing on the turf
- 47:42Speaker 3: unless there's lightning. Playing on the turf has a lot
- 47:45Speaker 3: of advantages Jill, exactly.
- 47:47Speaker 7: I mean it was poorn yesterday afternoon. It was raining
- 47:50Speaker 7: at some point during the game pretty consistently, but we
- 47:53Speaker 7: didn't have any delays at all. So if you want
- 47:56Speaker 7: to see baseball, we're going to have baseball. We really
- 47:58Speaker 7: want people to come out because this is our last
- 48:00Speaker 7: home game no matter what, until twenty twenty five, So
- 48:04Speaker 7: that is your last chance to see baseball in Charles.

- 48:18Speaker 3: I didn't think about this is the last opportunity, one
- 48:21Speaker 3: way or the other for people to see the Dirty Birds,
- 48:23Speaker 3: because you know the series is is going to switch
- 48:26Speaker 3: to York and if they wrap it up, which we
- 48:27Speaker 3: hope they will, it will be on the road. Six

- 49:04Speaker 3: I do want to remind you about October West. It's
- 49:07Speaker 3: happening this Saturday afternoon in the Oak City district over
- 49:09Speaker 3: on the West Side. Something like one hundred different beers
- 49:12Speaker 3: are going to be available, lots of food, trucks, games,
- 49:14Speaker 3: two musical stages. Who'll bed an epic day. And you
- 49:18Speaker 3: can go back and listen to the interview I did
- 49:19Speaker 3: with Rick Cavender from yesterday show. Rick. Of course, this
- 49:22Speaker 3: is kind of Rick's baby. Rick is the executive director
- 49:25Speaker 3: of Charleston Urban Works. That's where the proceeds go. Our
- 49:27Speaker 3: stations will be there. I'll be there starting around three
- 49:30Speaker 3: o'clock or so Saturday afternoon, representing our sister station nine
- 49:33Speaker 3: eight seven A mountain, wild and wonderful classic Rocks. We
- 49:35Speaker 3: look forward to seeing everyone out there. A couple of
- 49:38Speaker 3: quick items I want to get to before we close
- 49:40Speaker 3: the show. One of those involves the bus system here
- 49:43Speaker 3: in the Charleston area of KART. Coming up this afternoon,
- 49:47Speaker 3: the Kanaul Valley Regional Transportation Authority Board will present their
- 49:50Speaker 3: finalized plan for the proposed changes coming for KRT. That
- 49:54Speaker 3: meeting starts at four o'clock this afternoon at the KRT headquarters,
- 49:58Speaker 3: which is at fifteen fifty fourth Avenue, Charleston. This is
- 50:01Speaker 3: for public comment, with a final vote to being taken
- 50:04Speaker 3: by the board tomorrow morning during their board meeting. This
- 50:08Speaker 3: thing has kind of gone back and forth. Originally, there
- 50:10Speaker 3: was a proposed plan that would call for the elimination
- 50:13Speaker 3: of up to eleven or so of the less popular
- 50:15Speaker 3: bus routes, and then that kind of got changed by
- 50:18Speaker 3: subcommittee who said, rather than just eliminating the routes, why
- 50:21Speaker 3: don't we just cut back on the number of trips
- 50:24Speaker 3: that are made each day. And there've been all kinds
- 50:26Speaker 3: of other ideas that talked about possibly eliminating Sunday service altogether.
- 50:30Speaker 3: This is a public meeting tonight, folks. It is a
- 50:32Speaker 3: chance for the public to weigh in before the final meeting,
- 50:35Speaker 3: which will be their board meeting tomorrow morning. This afternoon's
- 50:38Speaker 3: meeting starts at four, should wrap up around five point
- 50:40Speaker 3: thirty at the Kart headquarters and again that is located
- 50:44Speaker 3: at fifteen to fifty fourth Avenue in Charleston. So if
- 50:46Speaker 3: you've got a concern, they've had other public meetings, this
- 50:49Speaker 3: is the final one though before the board meeting, and
- 50:52Speaker 3: it is set for four o'clock this afternoon at their headquarters.
- 50:54Speaker 3: So get out there and make your voice heard one
- 50:57Speaker 3: way or the other. I want to close with this.
- 50:59Speaker 3: This is an IDA is making news on the national
- 51:01Speaker 3: front this morning. There is a Haitian group in Springfield,
- 51:07Speaker 3: Ohio that have filed what they hope will be criminal
- 51:10Speaker 3: charges against former President Donald Trump and vice presidential candidate
- 51:14Speaker 3: j D Vance for the claims they have made about
- 51:17Speaker 3: the Haitian immigration situation in Springfield, Ohio. Now, this is
- 51:21Speaker 3: a nonprofit group that represents the Haitian community there. They're
- 51:25Speaker 3: called the Haitian Bridge Alliance. Legal experts say that charges
- 51:31Speaker 3: like this are very rare but not unheard of. Trump
- 51:33Speaker 3: and Vance are accused of disrupting public services, making false alarms.
- 51:39Speaker 3: This is the official legalese here, disrupting public services, making
- 51:43Speaker 3: false alarms, telecommunications harassment, aggravated menacing, and complicity. Now the
- 51:49Speaker 3: group is asking for the court system there in Springfield,
- 51:52Speaker 3: Ohio to find probable cause and to issue warrants for
- 51:57Speaker 3: both former President Trump and Vance. There are somewhere between
- 52:03Speaker 3: fifteen to twenty thousand Haitian immigrants in Springfield that in
- 52:06Speaker 3: most cases were recruited there by the employers because they
- 52:10Speaker 3: couldn't find the locals to fill the jobs. Most of
- 52:13Speaker 3: the workers have been granted timporary protected status to be
- 52:17Speaker 3: in the US legally. And since Trump talked about the
- 52:20Speaker 3: eating of the pets, not true, by the way, there
- 52:23Speaker 3: have been over thirty bomb threats directed at state and
- 52:26Speaker 3: local government buildings and schools in Springfield. Words indeed have consequences.
- 52:33Speaker 3: My thanks to John Jarrett and Millie Snyder and Mayor Fletcher,
- 52:37Speaker 3: and also Jill Garrifer joining me. Coming up tomorrow show
- 52:39Speaker 3: we're talking national debt, plus Brian Dayton from the State
- 52:42Speaker 3: Chamber of Commerce will be here as well. Download the
- 52:45Speaker 3: all new Metro News TV app and the WVRC MEDIAPP
- 52:47Speaker 3: My producer Matt Murphy. Thank you so much. I'll be
- 52:50Speaker 3: coming up a ten or six with talk Line. See
- 52:51Speaker 3: you tomorrow. Till then, have fun. I love somebody
