- 1:10Speaker 1: Hello, hello everyone, brie Sedano, here with you today on the Cash Confident podcast, and today we're talking about alignment.
- 1:25Speaker 1: And I love this topic so much because, when I'm working with my clients, one of the major things that I'm looking at is I'm looking at their alignment, I'm looking at what is in order we'll call it congruence, like what's all in order, what's all matching, what's all congruent and what is incongruent to their desires.
- 1:47Speaker 1: So today I'm going to run you through what goes in to alignment and I'm going to give you some examples, because I think alignment is a little bit of an ethereal concept.
- 1:58Speaker 1: I mean, I studied law of attraction, I've studied manifestation, I've studied all of the universal laws for probably the last 15 years, and so it was definitely something that I understood the concept, but I didn't really understand what it looked like in practical real life.
- 2:16Speaker 1: So I'm going to give you some examples about that today.
- 2:19Speaker 1: All right, so we're just going to go ahead and get right into it.
- 2:23Speaker 1: So, when it comes to alignment, most of the time the first thing that we're going to have is a desire.
- 2:29Speaker 1: There are a few things to know about desire.
- 2:32Speaker 1: First is that you don't get to pick your desire.
- 2:35Speaker 1: Your desire is not really yours.
- 2:37Speaker 1: Your desire is universal forces working through you.
- 2:41Speaker 1: However you put that, that's pretty much what it comes down to, and sometimes your desires are for you, and sometimes they may even not even be for you.
- 2:52Speaker 1: They may be for somebody else.
- 2:54Speaker 1: So, and I want you to understand that desires work in layers.
- 2:57Speaker 1: There's little things like oh, I desire pumpkin spice latte today, and then there's things like I desire to change the national conversation about money and therefore write a book, which is almost done, by the way.
- 3:10Speaker 1: Actually, by the time this is out, I'm sure it will already be submitted to the publisher.
- 3:14Speaker 1: So, all right.
- 3:18Speaker 1: So that's something to just recognize.
- 3:21Speaker 1: And we have a lot of junk around desire.
- 3:23Speaker 1: A lot of us repress desires, dismiss desires, reject desires completely, don't let ourselves have them, talk ourselves out of them, and so that's something just to start to become aware of.
- 3:34Speaker 1: Am I dismissing my desires?
- 3:36Speaker 1: Am I disowning my desires?
- 3:38Speaker 1: Am I fully and completely rejecting them, or am I letting them in?
- 3:43Speaker 1: And you'll find that life flows differently when you're on a path of desire.
- 3:50Speaker 1: And I do want to say too, is that sometimes our desires are not always just for us, right?
- 3:56Speaker 1: I'm going to give you a tiny, tiny example.
- 3:58Speaker 1: Now listen, in my marriage there are not so many rules, but one of the rules that I have in my marriage is I am gen-.
- 4:06Speaker 1: Mike Sedano generally requests that I do not have caffeine past noon time in a day, and the reason is is because I generally go to bed early and that leaves him to have time alone with the TV.
- 4:16Speaker 1: He watches cartoons, he, you know, I don't know what he does because I'm in bed, but if I have caffeine then I want to talk to him during his cartoon time and he does not like that.
- 4:28Speaker 1: He's ready, he's ready for his alone time.
- 4:32Speaker 1: So not too long ago, I have a standing nail appointment every other Friday 1pm.
- 4:39Speaker 1: I have the.
- 4:39Speaker 1: You know, I go see the most wonderful, uh nail technician in the whole white world.
- 4:44Speaker 1: And this one day I was like wow, I really feel like I could use some coffee, which is weird, cause really, I'm telling you, I generally have one cup of coffee in the morning and that is it.
- 4:55Speaker 1: And uh, so I texted her.
- 4:58Speaker 1: I said hey, I'm going to stop at Starbucks.
- 5:00Speaker 1: You want anything?
- 5:01Speaker 1: She gives me her order, I go, I get his coffees, I get to the nail salon and she was like you had no idea how bad I needed this.
- 5:10Speaker 1: She was like I did, I ran late, I didn't have time.
- 5:12Speaker 1: I've been like buffering a coffee headache the whole morning and I, when I was running late and I didn't want to be late for my first appointment.
- 5:21Speaker 1: She was like I just told myself I'm the manifest one today.
- 5:24Speaker 1: And she was like and then you asked me if I wanted coffee, and I just chuckled to myself because and I just chuckled to myself because I saw that that desire wasn't mine, that sometimes the universe will work through you, and this is a tiny little, micro, adorable example, but this is it.
- 5:40Speaker 1: So desires are not yours, desires are universal forces working through you.
- 5:47Speaker 1: And when we're thinking about our desire, a thing that we want to be really, really clear of is the desire to create is often different than the desire to receive the benefit of what we create.
- 5:56Speaker 1: And when we stay in that creation or in that service or in, you know, whatever it is that we're going to give, it is generally cleaner and more effective than just desiring the money.
- 6:10Speaker 1: So I'm going to tell you another little example about this because I think it's it's important.
- 6:14Speaker 1: So I have a client who's who wants to make another hundred thousand dollars in the rest of the year.
- 6:22Speaker 1: The day that I'm recording this is, you know, it's right at the beginning of October.
- 6:27Speaker 1: So she's got about three months and she was like all right, I'm going to make a hundred thousand dollars between here and there and I was like, okay, so that's an okay goal or whatever.
- 6:38Speaker 1: But when we started talking about it, I could see that she was all wrapped up in what she was gonna get and she wasn't really remembering the service that she was gonna provide.
- 6:50Speaker 1: And so here's.
- 6:51Speaker 1: The difference is, when people are in service, generally that's for the enthusiasm, that's for the excitement, that's for, like, the juicinesses, and when we just think about the money, we start to think about how am I gonna get it?
- 7:02Speaker 1: And then we back into all the numbers and then we can end up feeling very different, often less good, I would say less good.
- 7:11Speaker 1: And so when you're really pondering your desires, you kinda wanna think about it well, what am I gonna give?
- 7:18Speaker 1: What am I gonna create?
- 7:20Speaker 1: How am I gonna serve?
- 7:20Speaker 1: It just depends on the.
- 7:23Speaker 1: What am I gonna make produce?
- 7:24Speaker 1: It just depends on the context of your work and then like, what am I gonna get for it?
- 7:30Speaker 1: And it's okay to have desires on both sides.
- 7:33Speaker 1: Where we're not going is that you should only be desiring to serve and rejecting the money that comes with it.
- 7:38Speaker 1: But generally, when we are trying to make money, when we're trying to upgrade our lifestyles if we're really very much in the what am I gonna get out of this?
- 7:50Speaker 1: That vibe is kinda gross, right.
- 7:53Speaker 1: Like, imagine you go to buy a car.
- 7:55Speaker 1: Are you buying a car because you want the salesperson to be able to pay their mortgage that month?
- 8:00Speaker 1: No, you're gonna buy a car because you need a car and you want a salesperson who's gonna listen to you, who's gonna hear you, who's gonna serve you, and then you're gonna be happy to pay them the fee they're gonna make their commission.
- 8:10Speaker 1: But when somebody's just in it to try to make money, you can feel that because you're like, oh, they're not even really looking out for me, they're not really even serving me, they just want my money, and that's repulsive to money, all right.
- 8:23Speaker 1: So that's where I'm going with this.
- 8:25Speaker 1: So desires are not yours.
- 8:26Speaker 1: You wanna balance out your desires.
- 8:29Speaker 1: What am I gonna get?
- 8:29Speaker 1: What am I gonna give?
- 8:30Speaker 1: And sometimes your desires are not even for you.
- 8:35Speaker 1: Sometimes you just have to make room for life, the universe, god, however you wanna put it to work through you, right, and that's wonderful, it's a beautiful gift, all right.
- 8:46Speaker 1: So we have our desires, and that's the place where everything starts.
- 8:49Speaker 1: Then we have the intention to create, all right, and that means that we let the desire settle in and we're gonna intend to do something with it and intention really moves a lot of energy, and intention is just as simple as that.
- 9:03Speaker 1: I intend to create this.
- 9:05Speaker 1: I intend to serve this many people, make this much money, finish out my year this kind of way, like I'm intending to take action, I'm intending to do this right.
- 9:14Speaker 1: So intention is the next part.
- 9:15Speaker 1: Then, after that, we really can start to move into our focus.
- 9:21Speaker 1: Focus is our sustained attention and where focus goes, energy flows.
- 9:27Speaker 1: So where we're focusing, focus is one of the most underrated powers that we have, really truly, and here's where we're going with this.
- 9:40Speaker 1: So let's just say you know, we'll just go back to my client who wants to make another hundred grand between now and the end of the year If she puts her focus on oh, my pipeline is dry, I don't have clients in the hopper, I don't have any contracts that are signed, etatatatatata.
- 9:58Speaker 1: We're putting our focus in the opposite direction of where we want to go.
- 10:03Speaker 1: If we put our focus on wow, I've already done X amount of dollars this year and wow, people are dying to work with me and I've already served this many people and it would feel so good to serve another of this many people before the year is out, and I can't wait to help people, you know, do this and I can't wait to help my clients achieve this and I can't wait to help my clients achieve that.
- 10:28Speaker 1: You know those two uses of focus are going in two different directions.
- 10:34Speaker 1: One is going away from the goal, which is to make the other amount of money you know, another hundred grand and some are going toward that goal.
- 10:43Speaker 1: And so we want to be.
- 10:44Speaker 1: You want to be asking yourself basically all day, especially if you're getting your thoughts kind of tangled up in a way that you know feels bad is my focus going in the right direction?
- 10:55Speaker 1: That is a question you want to be asking yourself because you do have power to move your focus.
- 11:00Speaker 1: You can say, all right, well, let's focus on the positive things.
- 11:03Speaker 1: Well, let's focus on what's going right.
- 11:05Speaker 1: And a great activity to start to move your focus is to build yourself a focus wheel.
- 11:09Speaker 1: It's an Abraham hex activity and you basically take a piece of paper and you draw a little circle in the middle where you would write down your intention, right, like we just talked about, and then you would draw, you know, almost like a child spider web, right?
- 11:23Speaker 1: So you would.
- 11:24Speaker 1: You know you would make it look yeah, you'd have the little circle in the middle and you would draw straight lines out and then draw circles around it, creating a lot of boxes.
- 11:31Speaker 1: And you want to fill in all of those boxes with evidence of the thing calming your way and that helps you to keep your focus.
- 11:44Speaker 1: And if you're a person who's just learning to control your focus, if you don't have a lot of control over your focus yet, you want to take that focus wheel and keep it in your packet with you so that way, if you catch your thoughts going in different directions, you could just take it out and read it again.
- 11:56Speaker 1: You know, you could put it in your wallet, put it on your phone, put it someplace where you have easy access to it.
- 12:01Speaker 1: So that way, if you catch your focus going like and everything's going to break and everything's going to down the toilet and it's a tragedy and everything is wrong with me, you could just be like all right, let's just, let's just reevaluate, and so your focus is a place that you want to have an alignment with the things that you want.
- 12:20Speaker 1: All right.
- 12:21Speaker 1: Now, that's not to say that we should absolutely ignore problems or that we should not address you know, something's coming, that's coming up, that's out of you know.
- 12:32Speaker 1: Like it's not to say that we shouldn't use our focus sometimes to address something, but, generally speaking, we want to keep our focus on what's going right and then what's moving us in the direction towards those goals.
- 12:44Speaker 1: All right, then, we have our thoughts, and so your thoughts are going to be the thoughts that you just think, your internal monologue.
- 12:53Speaker 1: They're going to be your belief structures and it's going to be your judgments.
- 12:56Speaker 1: And so, again, if you have your focus going in the right direction, your thoughts will be following in that direction.
- 13:02Speaker 1: If your focus is going in the other direction, you're, you know, going in a negative, and when I say positive and negative, I mean one is going toward the desire and one is going away from the desire.
- 13:14Speaker 1: So your thoughts, your beliefs, your judgments, you want to get those in alignment, and beliefs and judgments do take a little bit of extra work, but we're not going to talk about that today in this episode, so we're just going to move right on, although I'm sure I'll talk about it additionally.
- 13:30Speaker 1: So then we have our words or our words going in the direction of our desire or our words going in the other direction.
- 13:36Speaker 1: So let me just give you an example.
- 13:38Speaker 1: So let's just say that, again, the desire is to help this many people this year make another hundred thousand.
- 13:44Speaker 1: I'm going to make another hundred thousand.
- 13:45Speaker 1: I'm going to be helping this many people.
- 13:47Speaker 1: I want to serve this kind of people.
- 13:48Speaker 1: I want to do that.
- 13:49Speaker 1: So my words would be like oh, I love to help people do this thing, or I'm not sure if this is going to work, I don't know if I have enough time Like, oh, what if I'm not good enough?
- 14:07Speaker 1: I could be using those words to express my confidence in my desire and by moving my energy toward the desire, I could be using my words to move my energy, move myself, move everything away from my desire.
- 14:19Speaker 1: So, again, when we're talking about speaking things to existence, your words, like we talked about last week in the affirmations podcast when we use our words, we're using a lot of energy because we're using our thought power, we're using our vocal power and we're speaking and we're hearing, we're affirming to ourselves the things.
- 14:39Speaker 1: So there's a lot of juice, there's a lot of energetic juice in our words.
- 14:44Speaker 1: So we want to check to make sure that the words are going in the direction of our desires.
- 14:49Speaker 1: All right, then we have our feelings, yeah, and feelings you don't exactly get to control.
- 14:58Speaker 1: But you want to be aware.
- 14:59Speaker 1: If I think these kind of thoughts, I feel enthusiastic, I feel eager to serve, I feel delighted to do this.
- 15:05Speaker 1: If I think those kind of thoughts I feel hopeless and sad or where I feel desperate, right, we want to be aware because thoughts lead feelings.
- 15:16Speaker 1: Your thoughts will lead your feelings.
- 15:18Speaker 1: So when you have your focus going in the right direction and you have your thoughts going in the right direction, getting your feelings in the right direction is a very, very easy.
- 15:26Speaker 1: And if you have your focus and your thoughts and your words and your feelings going in the opposite direction of what you want, you're going to feel bad, and so this is a great indicator to know wow, I'm really feeling some flavor of bad.
- 15:44Speaker 1: That is a great place for me to notice.
- 15:47Speaker 1: I'm out of alignment.
- 15:48Speaker 1: Let me check in with myself.
- 15:50Speaker 1: Let me see where my focus has been for the last few hours, let me see where my thoughts have been Right and so your feelings.
- 15:57Speaker 1: Then we get into our actions.
- 15:58Speaker 1: And actions are super, super clear, right and speak louder than words.
- 16:03Speaker 1: So, when we're to the point of acting, we're really building this desire, we're taking action towards this desire.
- 16:09Speaker 1: We have a lot of energy, we're putting effort into this desire, so we want to make sure that it's going in the direction of what we want.
- 16:17Speaker 1: So just imagine for a second my desire is to go 12 steps to the right, but I am taking steps to the left.
- 16:24Speaker 1: We would see very clearly that that doesn't make sense.
- 16:28Speaker 1: You're like that's not how you get there.
- 16:30Speaker 1: If I say that I'm going to New Jersey but I drive myself to Pennsylvania, I'm taking action not in the direction that I want to go.
- 16:37Speaker 1: And I'm going to give you just a really quick example of this.
- 16:41Speaker 1: So at one point I was talking to a woman who lost her job during the pandemic and so she started a business and her business was going great, but her attention was so split.
- 16:52Speaker 1: I mean, she was building the business, she was taking action towards the business, but she was still applying for jobs.
- 16:58Speaker 1: So she was taking half of her time and she was working on her business, and the other half of her work time she was applying for jobs, but she didn't want the jobs, and so when she would get the opportunity for interviews she would blow them because she didn't want the job.
- 17:12Speaker 1: She wanted her business to work, but she wasn't putting all of her energy into her business to actually get it to work because she was afraid, and she was afraid to lose the benefits, the stability, the salary, the 401k, things like that.
- 17:25Speaker 1: And so her actions were split.
- 17:29Speaker 1: Her energy was very much split Right, and so she was not getting great results.
- 17:33Speaker 1: Her business was going well and it could have absolutely thrived, but she was spending half of.
- 17:39Speaker 1: She was out of alignment.
- 17:41Speaker 1: Her alignment was going in two absolutely opposite directions and that was exhausting and it was very emotionally tumultuous.
- 17:49Speaker 1: I mean, she was on the edge of tears when I even talked to her to be like what's going on?
- 17:54Speaker 1: How are you what's going on?
- 17:57Speaker 1: She was already very, very upset, because it's exhausting to be out of alignment with yourself.
- 18:03Speaker 1: So that's when we're taking actions.
- 18:06Speaker 1: So you could ask yourself is this action an alignment with the truth of what I desire?
- 18:12Speaker 1: I will tell you this too I hired a personal trainer this was before COVID, and I had identity work to do on myself Before I was able to exercise.
- 18:24Speaker 1: Before I did the identity work.
- 18:25Speaker 1: But once I started to see really good results from the exercise, I got out of congruence with myself on the thought level and this was a layer deeper.
- 18:35Speaker 1: It was really around my identity.
- 18:36Speaker 1: It was really my identity didn't match really getting in good shape at that point, I just didn't.
- 18:42Speaker 1: And so I would go see the trainer in the morning and I would go out for beer and chicken wings at night, and this happened all the time.
- 18:50Speaker 1: So I was taking actions in two different directions.
- 18:54Speaker 1: I was taking actions in the morning toward my fitness goals and I was taking actions at night in the opposite direction of those fitness goals.
- 19:01Speaker 1: And so when that happens, you basically stand still, because I was going two steps forward in the morning and I was going two steps back at night, and then I would go two steps forward in the morning and then I would go two steps forward at night, and so I basically stayed the same.
- 19:16Speaker 1: So I was taking a lot of effort but staying the same, and that's how that goes.
- 19:24Speaker 1: And then we have our money.
- 19:25Speaker 1: Our money is another energy that you can pour into things, and when we are in alignment and we put our money towards something, something magical happens.
- 19:34Speaker 1: Our investments work, and I don't just mean like stock market investments, I mean our business investments, our investments in the class that we're gonna take.
- 19:41Speaker 1: You know, when you know, like the class that we're gonna take, the tools that we're gonna buy, the experience that we're gonna have, or whatever it's all in alignment, it makes a ton of sense.
- 19:50Speaker 1: What doesn't work is when you're out of alignment and then you spend a lot of money, and I've done that.
- 19:57Speaker 1: I've done that too, and so I'm gonna just do a quick recap for you around the alignment, and where I want you to go is I just want you to start to consider what parts of me are moving all in the same direction, and where am I split, where am I going in different directions?
- 20:14Speaker 1: Right, so we have our desire, we have our intention, we have our focus, our thoughts, our birds, our feelings, our actions and our money All right.
- 20:25Speaker 1: And so when all of those things are moving toward the goal that you want, you will find that things can move really, really quickly.
- 20:34Speaker 1: And when you are doing things like setting intention in one direction but taking action in another direction, or having desires in one way, but having thoughts and focus in a different direction, you're gonna start to see that that moves much, much slower and so much of what we call manifestation is really just getting into alignment with yourself.
- 20:59Speaker 1: It's just really building congruence with that.
- 21:01Speaker 1: So I hope that you got a lot out of this.
- 21:03Speaker 1: Please feel free to review.
