- 0:44Speaker 1: Think, Think, Hey, everybody, welcome back to Basic Black after Dark.
- 2:50Speaker 2: I'm thrilled to introduce you tonight to Shane the Jenkins,
- 2:54Speaker 2: a first time self published author, Distinguished Author's Guild winner,
- 3:00Speaker 2: and the inspiring mind behind her premiere book, The Prettiest Woman.
- 3:05Speaker 2: Rooted in the timeless wisdom of one Peter three and three,
- 3:09Speaker 2: Shane's book reminds us of all that true beauty starts
- 3:12Speaker 2: from within. Shanna's journey to becoming an author begun unexpectedly
- 3:18Speaker 2: during the season of personal transformation that turned her darkest
- 3:21Speaker 2: moments into a triumphant light. Her book is more than
- 3:25Speaker 2: just a story. It's a movement, a movement for women
- 3:28Speaker 2: who are determined to rise, stronger, walking and purpose and
- 3:34Speaker 2: believe in that God given potential. Beyond her work as
- 3:37Speaker 2: an author, Shane is also interior designer, philanthropists, mother, and
- 3:43Speaker 2: self proclaimed love of all things Jesus. Tonight will dive
- 3:48Speaker 2: into her journey, her purpose, and the impact she hopes
- 3:52Speaker 2: The Prettiest Woman will have on women everywhere. Let's give
- 3:56Speaker 2: Shane a warm welcome to Basic Black after Dark. Hello, Shana,
- 4:20Speaker 2: she's probably having a little bit of technical difficulties. We're
- 4:25Speaker 2: in two different areas, so she's probably having some difficulties.
- 4:30Speaker 2: But like I mentioned, she is an award winner of
- 4:33Speaker 2: the DAG Awards, and that is a distinguished award, and
- 4:39Speaker 2: not many have that kind of success being a first
- 4:43Speaker 2: time author. And for her to have come from being
- 4:48Speaker 2: a first time author and walking in and snatching that award, yes,
- 4:51Speaker 2: I said snatching snatching that award, it was well deserved.
- 4:55Speaker 2: I can't wait to dive into her story about the
- 4:58Speaker 2: Prettiest Woman and learn more about her journey throughout. So
- 5:03Speaker 2: she's having some difficulty, she's leading the message, No I
- 5:09Speaker 2: cannot hear you. She may have to go out and
- 5:12Speaker 2: then come back, and then you know how technology is.
- 5:15Speaker 2: You have to go out and you have to come
- 5:17Speaker 2: back in. That's why I like man made things. We
- 5:21Speaker 2: do it ourselves. So this way we don't have to
- 5:23Speaker 2: be doing anything any technology or anything else of old school.
- 5:28Speaker 2: I'm even where you can still deliver a message by
- 5:31Speaker 2: a horse, if I have to go back that far.
- 5:33Speaker 2: But we've moved beyond all of that. So we do
- 5:36Speaker 2: have the post office, but now we've moved on to
- 5:39Speaker 2: Internet and emails and a whole bunch of other things.
- 5:42Speaker 3: But to get to her story.
- 5:44Speaker 2: It's just simply amazing that this young lady was able
- 5:49Speaker 2: to write this book and to bring it to Fruition
- 5:53Speaker 2: and just to share it with everybody. So this is
- 5:56Speaker 2: something that I can't wait for her to share, to
- 6:00Speaker 2: share this journey, Shane. Are you able to get in
- 6:03Speaker 2: and to join us now?
- 6:05Speaker 4: H Okay, there we go. I'm sorry about that. I
- 6:13Speaker 4: can't hear me.
- 6:14Speaker 2: Still saying that she's offline. I know you, I hear you.
- 6:23Speaker 2: You might have to unmute your mike.
- 6:27Speaker 5: If unmuted.
- 6:31Speaker 3: Yeah, she's talking, but she's not all right. Well, I
- 6:36Speaker 3: can't hear her at all.
- 6:42Speaker 5: I can hear you.
- 6:45Speaker 4: All.
- 6:45Speaker 3: I see her her thing going, but I just don't
- 6:53Speaker 3: I don't.
- 6:53Speaker 2: I don't hear her at all. H you heard the
- 7:01Speaker 2: stay offline. So I'm gonna send her a message to
- 7:17Speaker 2: the chat and that can she hear me? K And
- 7:25Speaker 2: we may have to have this interview through chat because
- 7:28Speaker 2: I can still ask you questions and you can post
- 7:30Speaker 2: it in the chat and I'll respond to our listeners
- 7:33Speaker 2: and our audience in that way until we can get
- 7:38Speaker 2: this cleared up. But that would be okay with you, Shana.
- 7:48Speaker 2: But I can't hear her I can't hear her at all,
- 7:59Speaker 2: she said, and she can hear and see me. I
- 8:01Speaker 2: can't see her and I can't hear her. Oh, maybe
- 8:05Speaker 2: it's me. Maybe I need to go out and come
- 8:07Speaker 2: back in. So I'll go out. Forgive me everyone, I'm
- 8:11Speaker 2: gonna go out and I'm gonna come back in.
- 8:55Speaker 4: I can hear you can hear me.
- 8:57Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 9:09Speaker 2: To becoming an author begun unexpectedly during the season of
- 9:12Speaker 2: personal transformation, Yes, that seemed to have turned your darkest
- 9:19Speaker 2: moments into triumphant light. You mentioned that becoming an author
- 9:23Speaker 2: wasn't part of your original plan. Can you share more
- 9:25Speaker 2: about what led you to this unexpected path?
- 9:29Speaker 4: Absolutely. First of all, thank you for having me on
- 9:31Speaker 4: the show.
- 9:32Speaker 6: I'm really excited to be here and just really get
- 9:35Speaker 6: a chance to tell my story. And so, yes, I
- 9:38Speaker 6: did mention becoming an author was something that I stumbled upon.
- 9:42Speaker 6: I probably didn't know, but God knows everything. The dark
- 9:46Speaker 6: season I was going through. I in hindsight, I'm looking back,
- 9:49Speaker 6: I'm like I probably had launched myself into entrepreneurship too soon,
- 9:53Speaker 6: and I was just I was working for a commission
- 9:55Speaker 6: based company at the time. And while I was at
- 9:58Speaker 6: that company, I was trying leveraged their clients to like
- 10:01Speaker 6: build my business and have my own client, and it
- 10:05Speaker 6: came to a point where God was like, Okay, which
- 10:07Speaker 6: way are you going to go? So I felt like,
- 10:08Speaker 6: you know, I'm trying to use this job to build
- 10:11Speaker 6: a business.
- 10:12Speaker 4: But God was telling me to go one way.
- 10:13Speaker 6: And so it got to a place where I felt
- 10:16Speaker 6: like I was just kind of losing it.
- 10:17Speaker 4: I was like in a season of confusion. I felt like.
- 10:19Speaker 6: Money was coming in my hands and going out the window,
- 10:23Speaker 6: and I just had to really I started losing. In
- 10:26Speaker 6: addition to taking a leave of absence from my job,
- 10:29Speaker 6: my life were getting cut off. My water was on
- 10:31Speaker 6: the way off, my car was being repossessed, and I
- 10:34Speaker 6: had no money for anything. And so I really just
- 10:36Speaker 6: had to sit down and, you know, talk to guy
- 10:39Speaker 6: and just be like, Okay, God, like, I know that
- 10:41Speaker 6: you've called me to.
- 10:42Speaker 4: Do certain things.
- 10:43Speaker 6: I know that you know my journey is an entrepreneurship,
- 10:46Speaker 6: but maybe it's something I'm not doing right because you
- 10:48Speaker 6: said the blessings of the Lord make it rich and.
- 10:50Speaker 4: Add no sorrow. So why am I broke?
- 10:52Speaker 6: Why am I sitting here you know, just really trying
- 10:56Speaker 6: to figure out life and put things back together. And
- 10:59Speaker 6: I just I it was like two forty two on
- 11:01Speaker 6: November second.
- 11:02Speaker 4: I don't think I know for shore. At two forty
- 11:03Speaker 4: two a m.
- 11:04Speaker 6: On November second, when I watched them pull my child
- 11:07Speaker 6: the driveway, I was literally sitting in my lib room
- 11:09Speaker 6: like okay, God, like, now what you know.
- 11:13Speaker 4: What do we do?
- 11:13Speaker 6: You know, I didn't really want to be in the
- 11:15Speaker 6: season where you know, I had the call parents or
- 11:17Speaker 6: family or friends to help me out.
- 11:19Speaker 4: I really wanted to get to a place.
- 11:21Speaker 6: Where I asked God to get me out of the
- 11:23Speaker 6: situation that I was in. And so as I was
- 11:26Speaker 6: sitting there and just kind of praying, I asked.
- 11:29Speaker 4: Him, you know, what are we going to do? Now?
- 11:31Speaker 4: What are you going to do? And he said, write
- 11:32Speaker 4: the book?
- 11:33Speaker 6: And it was something that has been in my heart
- 11:35Speaker 6: for a while, but I didn't I wasn't really sure
- 11:37Speaker 6: if that was my tab because I knew I wasn't
- 11:39Speaker 6: a writer. And I was asking him like, okay, so
- 11:43Speaker 6: what does that mean write the book? Where do I
- 11:44Speaker 6: get the material? And then he started reminding me of
- 11:47Speaker 6: like all the blogs that I had written, and you know,
- 11:49Speaker 6: just kind of putting them together to really tell the
- 11:51Speaker 6: story that when I put them together, like, oh, like,
- 11:54Speaker 6: I guess this really does tell the story of my life,
- 11:56Speaker 6: like the journal prompts that I was writing about And
- 11:59Speaker 6: next I know, I get an email about a self
- 12:02Speaker 6: publishing workshop, and next thing you know, I'm an author,
- 12:06Speaker 6: an award.
- 12:06Speaker 2: Win Yes, yes, yes, he is definitely a day award
- 12:12Speaker 2: winning author. But he's not gonna just put you through
- 12:15Speaker 2: it without pulling you through it. At the same time,
- 12:17Speaker 2: we have some people here La, Tanya, Shanat, and Farren
- 12:21Speaker 2: thank you so much for joining us tonight. But right
- 12:24Speaker 2: and during one of the darkest seasons of your life
- 12:26Speaker 2: must have been. We here that it was challenging, and
- 12:29Speaker 2: we know that it inspired you to keep going during
- 12:32Speaker 2: that time. The Prettiest Woman is rooted in the message
- 12:35Speaker 2: that true beauty starts within. How does this thing play
- 12:39Speaker 2: out in your own story and in the book? Well, so,
- 12:44Speaker 2: very great question.
- 12:45Speaker 6: It makes me grateful that a lot of the circumstances
- 12:49Speaker 6: that I encounter, even though it hurt me to not retaliate,
- 12:53Speaker 6: not to get angry, to not get better, like it
- 12:55Speaker 6: really helped me just to be grateful about who God
- 12:58Speaker 6: fraided me to be you know, somebody who pride ourselves
- 13:01Speaker 6: on moving.
- 13:01Speaker 4: Forward in kindness, you know. And that's not to say
- 13:04Speaker 4: that I was.
- 13:05Speaker 6: Kind all the time or you know, like I never
- 13:06Speaker 6: had an attitude like I just went through the dark
- 13:08Speaker 6: seasons like all perky. But it really just helped me maintain,
- 13:12Speaker 6: you know, my character and who He created me to be.
- 13:16Speaker 6: I think that I found out that the beauty within
- 13:18Speaker 6: myself were those characteristics, you know, the fact that I
- 13:21Speaker 6: do really aspire to treat people, you know, how they
- 13:24Speaker 6: how I want to be treated, or you know, just
- 13:26Speaker 6: really represent him well. And so there were plenty of
- 13:29Speaker 6: times that I wanted to fight back naturally, but it
- 13:31Speaker 6: was scripture that gave me confidence that you know, you
- 13:33Speaker 6: don't really have to you know, Bence's mindset, the Lord
- 13:36Speaker 6: I will repay, I will fight your battle. So really
- 13:38Speaker 6: all you have to learn to be sealed, trust me,
- 13:41Speaker 6: and then move forward. And so really relying on that
- 13:45Speaker 6: kind of helped me decided, Okay, you know, I am okay,
- 13:48Speaker 6: you know, uh, there are things of people that are
- 13:50Speaker 6: dealing with themselves, and I can go forward and be happy.
- 13:52Speaker 6: And like of course I said, I got to meet
- 13:54Speaker 6: great people and doors were opening for me. And I
- 13:57Speaker 6: can only imagine had I been angry and my time
- 14:00Speaker 6: focusing on those trials or those circumstances, like I probably
- 14:03Speaker 6: wouldn't be where I am today. I would be still
- 14:05Speaker 6: somewhere trying to fight a battle that he told me
- 14:07Speaker 6: he already won.
- 14:08Speaker 2: So right, So, you described in your book The Prettiest
- 14:12Speaker 2: Woman as a collective story for all women who face
- 14:14Speaker 2: life's challenges. How do you hope readers will collect or
- 14:18Speaker 2: connect with this message? How your biggest challenge in self publishing?
- 14:24Speaker 6: So my first well, what I hope that people will
- 14:28Speaker 6: receive from my book.
- 14:30Speaker 4: Is to basically to persevere, you know, just just keep going.
- 14:36Speaker 6: Really understand that the things that you went through are
- 14:39Speaker 6: not happening to.
- 14:40Speaker 4: You, but they're happening for you.
- 14:42Speaker 6: And like I said, like, if you don't focus on
- 14:44Speaker 6: those circumstances, if you don't spend your time, you know,
- 14:46Speaker 6: sitting around wondering like what was me? Why is this
- 14:48Speaker 6: happening to me? Then you know, you too can become
- 14:52Speaker 6: you know, the prettiest woman. So I tell people all
- 14:53Speaker 6: the time, the prettiest woman is not somebody who is
- 14:55Speaker 6: beautiful on the outside the world that we live in today,
- 14:59Speaker 6: glorifies or beauty, you know, but who are you? You know,
- 15:02Speaker 6: who are you? Are you being the person that God
- 15:04Speaker 6: created to be? Are you operating in good character? And
- 15:06Speaker 6: like being a representative in a role model?
- 15:09Speaker 4: So that's really.
- 15:12Speaker 2: A first time author. As a first time author, what
- 15:15Speaker 2: was your biggest challenge during your self publishing?
- 15:20Speaker 6: So my biggest challenge during self publishing was believing that
- 15:23Speaker 6: I was not convincing myself that this was something that
- 15:25Speaker 6: I was supposed to be doing, that this was something
- 15:27Speaker 6: that God really wanted me to do and not just
- 15:30Speaker 6: another bright idea that I had come up with. There
- 15:33Speaker 6: were a lot of moments I was like, Shane, a girl,
- 15:35Speaker 6: you're not a writer, Like what are you doing?
- 15:37Speaker 4: You know, really just.
- 15:37Speaker 6: Trying to talk myself out of moving forward with the project.
- 15:41Speaker 6: But I had to realize that the blessing was going
- 15:43Speaker 6: to come from the obedience of me, right like even
- 15:46Speaker 6: I would rather have written the book and then realized
- 15:49Speaker 6: that wasn't what God told me to do than not
- 15:51Speaker 6: write the book, and then realize I was in disobedience,
- 15:54Speaker 6: you know, So just really trying to convince myself that God,
- 15:59Speaker 6: you have.
- 16:00Speaker 2: Some congratulations here from Chenette and from Fairing, congratulations towards
- 16:04Speaker 2: winning author. What advice would you what advice would you
- 16:09Speaker 2: give to first time authors? Now hearing what you're saying,
- 16:12Speaker 2: it's kind of hard to believe that your first time author,
- 16:16Speaker 2: But what advice would you give to someone who is
- 16:18Speaker 2: the first time author?
- 16:20Speaker 6: I would say, stop waiting on perfection and just do it.
- 16:23Speaker 6: You know, the blessing is in the obedience. The longer
- 16:26Speaker 6: you have something in your hands, the longer you sit
- 16:28Speaker 6: around PARTIICU it like you're never going to move forward
- 16:31Speaker 6: with the project. You're going to sit around and you know,
- 16:34Speaker 6: just really be trying to you know, change this ordot
- 16:36Speaker 6: this or what if this and what if I said this?
- 16:38Speaker 6: And it's the blessing is not in the fact that
- 16:40Speaker 6: you're writing the book. The blessing is being obedient to
- 16:42Speaker 6: what God told you to do. And so one scripture
- 16:45Speaker 6: that my pastor always says, he says, one man plans,
- 16:47Speaker 6: another one waters, but God gives the increase, but he
- 16:50Speaker 6: can't give you increase if you're holding on to it.
- 16:53Speaker 4: So just put it out there and figure out the
- 16:56Speaker 4: rest later.
- 16:56Speaker 5: You know.
- 16:57Speaker 4: That's kind of that's how I operate, Like we'll figure
- 16:59Speaker 4: out let's.
- 17:01Speaker 2: Your inspiration and purpose. You mentioned your daughter's passion for
- 17:05Speaker 2: rating as an inspiration. How does her creativity influence your work?
- 17:11Speaker 6: Her creatives? Hear her creativity. It energized me. Now it
- 17:14Speaker 6: gives me a reason to be going, keep going. I
- 17:17Speaker 6: believe that we feed off of each other. So when
- 17:20Speaker 6: I see her and I'm noticing that she's picking up
- 17:22Speaker 6: on things but I'm doing, it makes me keep going.
- 17:25Speaker 6: You know, there are days that I just want to
- 17:26Speaker 6: come home and lay around and watch TV. But if
- 17:29Speaker 6: I do that, then she'll get complacent and her crap
- 17:32Speaker 6: and her gifts, and so her watching me keeps me going.
- 17:35Speaker 6: And then she doesn't even know, but like me, watching
- 17:37Speaker 6: her makes me keep going. So we really just feed
- 17:39Speaker 6: off each other's energy.
- 17:42Speaker 2: You mentioned earlier that you intended a self published and
- 17:44Speaker 2: workshop that gave you the confidence to move forward. What
- 17:47Speaker 2: role has mentorship and community played in your journey?
- 17:52Speaker 6: Yes, definitely, so shout out to Natalie Murphy, romance author
- 17:56Speaker 6: four time on War Winning.
- 17:58Speaker 4: She is the one who helped me to move to.
- 18:01Speaker 6: Workshop by attended to helped me publish the book, and
- 18:04Speaker 6: the role that she played and a few other mentors
- 18:07Speaker 6: played is just really watching them because I know I
- 18:11Speaker 6: have people rooting for me. I don't want to let
- 18:13Speaker 6: them down. You know, I don't want to let myself down.
- 18:15Speaker 6: But I never want to look back and be like,
- 18:17Speaker 6: you know, hear somebody say, oh, you know what wasted talent?
- 18:21Speaker 4: Or you know, like we really believed in her.
- 18:22Speaker 6: She really had great feels that she never put out there,
- 18:25Speaker 6: so they just I think it's like a level of accountability.
- 18:29Speaker 4: You know.
- 18:29Speaker 6: If I know that I have people rooting for me,
- 18:31Speaker 6: it motivates me to get up and keep going.
- 18:36Speaker 2: Chanette says, that's me right now. So Shannette, get out
- 18:39Speaker 2: there and write that book. Don't let nothing hold you back.
- 18:42Speaker 2: Just keep it moving. And even if you're not a
- 18:45Speaker 2: first time author, you're gonna feel that way every time
- 18:48Speaker 2: you write your book.
- 18:50Speaker 3: You're going to feel should I put this one out?
- 18:54Speaker 3: Is this what the people want?
- 18:55Speaker 2: You're gonna have so many questions about everything, and if
- 18:58Speaker 2: you keep questioning yourself, Shannette, you're never going to write
- 19:01Speaker 2: that book.
- 19:01Speaker 4: You're never going to.
- 19:04Speaker 3: Get it out of the drawer.
- 19:05Speaker 2: Because I'm quite sure that's probably where's said or either
- 19:09Speaker 2: on the shelf cause I still got mind stopped or
- 19:11Speaker 2: stop making the book ends, put it out there, tell
- 19:15Speaker 2: share this with people, because your story is going to
- 19:18Speaker 2: help somebody. I can tell you that your story is
- 19:20Speaker 2: going to help somebody. Many women feel they must be
- 19:24Speaker 2: perfect to create or share their work. See I'm telling you,
- 19:27Speaker 2: how does the prettiest women address that mindset?
- 19:32Speaker 6: Yeah, So, for just to go back to the last
- 19:34Speaker 6: point that you made, So a lot of times we
- 19:37Speaker 6: don't do things or we think that we're supposed to
- 19:39Speaker 6: be doing stuff for us, The work that God or
- 19:41Speaker 6: just that guy has given up, they're not for us,
- 19:42Speaker 6: They're for other people. So you know, it might be
- 19:45Speaker 6: hard for us to overcome that imposter syndrome. But the
- 19:48Speaker 6: book is probably not for you in the first place.
- 19:50Speaker 6: It's going to build your confidence, but it is for
- 19:52Speaker 6: somebody else. So just kind of touching off of that.
- 19:56Speaker 6: But as far as you know, feel like you have
- 19:59Speaker 6: to be per to share your work, I would tell
- 20:01Speaker 6: them to first ask yourself what is perfection? And by
- 20:05Speaker 6: whose standard are you measured? I think that perfection is
- 20:09Speaker 6: an unrealistic goal. I think that it's us in our mindset,
- 20:12Speaker 6: you know, just trying to overthink, you know whatever, trying
- 20:16Speaker 6: to hold us back. But then also wondering like who's
- 20:18Speaker 6: gonna like it? But it's also it's like you know
- 20:21Speaker 6: who really cares? You know, not say who really cares? Too,
- 20:23Speaker 6: Like you want people to like your book, you want
- 20:25Speaker 6: people to appreciate your gifts, but at the end of
- 20:27Speaker 6: the day, it's it's more so about just really doing
- 20:32Speaker 6: what you're supposed to do. And so for the prettiest woman,
- 20:35Speaker 6: if focuses on bringing out what's on the inside to
- 20:38Speaker 6: the outside, and nobody knows what's incidy.
- 20:41Speaker 3: But that I'm sorry h thing.
- 20:51Speaker 2: And with it out there, they're telling you, they're giving
- 20:53Speaker 2: it right over the place. Just get it out that
- 20:55Speaker 2: that's the only way people can be blessed. And you
- 20:57Speaker 2: see Jane the didn't she got it out there. Hey
- 21:00Speaker 2: she knocked it out the park because she won an
- 21:02Speaker 2: award for it. So beyond the book, you wear many hats, author,
- 21:06Speaker 2: interior designer, philanthropist and mother, how many balances, all while
- 21:11Speaker 2: staying true to yourself.
- 21:14Speaker 4: Trying to figure it all out.
- 21:16Speaker 6: I'm in a place right now where I'm trying to
- 21:19Speaker 6: really understand what structure looks like. A lot of people
- 21:22Speaker 6: don't know this, So the cats off the bag, But
- 21:24Speaker 6: I recently resigned from my full time job, and I'm
- 21:27Speaker 6: really just trying to get into a place where I
- 21:29Speaker 6: keep it balanced. But what I understand that what helps
- 21:31Speaker 6: me keep me focused and whether it sounds cliche or phony,
- 21:34Speaker 6: like you know, my prayer and my worship life. So
- 21:36Speaker 6: some days, most days, I get up in the morning
- 21:39Speaker 6: between five ten and five forty and I really put
- 21:42Speaker 6: on worship music and I just ask guy, like, what
- 21:44Speaker 6: are we doing today? What are you supposed to be doing?
- 21:46Speaker 6: You know, I can have the twelve things that I
- 21:48Speaker 6: want to accomplish a guy like what's important to you?
- 21:50Speaker 6: Because I really want to make sure that I stay
- 21:53Speaker 6: in his will doing because I don't want to.
- 21:54Speaker 4: Fall off again.
- 21:55Speaker 6: You know, it really hurt me or almost broke me
- 21:57Speaker 6: when I was going through like the things that I
- 21:59Speaker 6: was going through. So to not go back, I just
- 22:01Speaker 6: really invite God into my day.
- 22:05Speaker 4: And that's that's the truth that.
- 22:10Speaker 2: So what projects are you working on now and and
- 22:11Speaker 2: how do they tie into your overall purpose?
- 22:14Speaker 6: So I'm currently working on a journal it's called Butterflies
- 22:18Speaker 6: Are Meant to Fly And it's more so still focusing
- 22:22Speaker 6: on that interviewed that you know, bringing out what's inside
- 22:25Speaker 6: of you to the outside. You know, a lot of
- 22:27Speaker 6: times we don't move, we don't do things, but we're
- 22:29Speaker 6: like in this box or in this jar, and it's like, no,
- 22:31Speaker 6: you're not meant to be kept in the jar.
- 22:33Speaker 4: You're meant to fly.
- 22:35Speaker 6: I also have a collaboration project with one of my
- 22:37Speaker 6: mentors and a few other women, and I really want
- 22:41Speaker 6: to write another book, but I don't have the words
- 22:43Speaker 6: for it yet, so still just kind of wait and
- 22:45Speaker 6: see what that looks like.
- 22:46Speaker 4: I know what I want to write about, but I
- 22:47Speaker 4: need the words.
- 22:50Speaker 2: You mentioned on creative writing and creativity you mentioned starting
- 22:54Speaker 2: with a blog writing for a mentorship program, what was it?
- 22:59Speaker 3: What was it like?
- 23:00Speaker 2: Position, and from short form blogs to write in the
- 23:03Speaker 2: entire book, because that is a big transition.
- 23:07Speaker 6: It was actually a lot easier because I'm wordy and
- 23:10Speaker 6: I realized I really like to talk. So when I
- 23:11Speaker 6: was writing my blogs, like, there were a lot of
- 23:13Speaker 6: times I would have to scale back to detail of
- 23:15Speaker 6: what I was talking about because like a page or two.
- 23:20Speaker 6: So when I decided to publish a book, like, okay,
- 23:22Speaker 6: now I really get to get into the details of
- 23:24Speaker 6: the nitty gritty of what I wanted to say in
- 23:26Speaker 6: the first play without having to feel it back.
- 23:30Speaker 2: Wow, So how do you approach storytelling to make it
- 23:32Speaker 2: relatable and empowering for women.
- 23:34Speaker 3: In similar seasons of life?
- 23:38Speaker 6: So I don't know if it's relatable or not, but
- 23:40Speaker 6: I was just having a conversation with the brand. I
- 23:42Speaker 6: use a lot of Bible scriptures one because that's.
- 23:44Speaker 4: What I know.
- 23:45Speaker 6: Like I used to use like movies and things, but
- 23:47Speaker 6: there are so many scriptures and women in the Word
- 23:49Speaker 6: of God that really dealt with what we're dealing with,
- 23:53Speaker 6: just on a difference. You know, it was BC or whenever,
- 23:56Speaker 6: you know, old school time, and so I just really
- 23:59Speaker 6: try to tell woman, you know, like, look, this is
- 24:02Speaker 6: everybody is. This is not You're not the first person
- 24:04Speaker 6: be going through this. You know, they went through it
- 24:05Speaker 6: in the Bible, your parents went through it, grandparents whoever.
- 24:08Speaker 6: So us this, you know, pay attention, get the lessons learned,
- 24:13Speaker 6: you know, look and see you know what you can
- 24:14Speaker 6: learn from the stories that I've been written before you
- 24:16Speaker 6: and use that and tweak it and make it your own,
- 24:18Speaker 6: because reality, we're all going through the same thing, just
- 24:21Speaker 6: different faces to it.
- 24:22Speaker 4: If that makes sense.
- 24:26Speaker 2: So it does, it does so in that note where
- 24:28Speaker 2: any specific chapters or stories in the Prettiest Women particularly
- 24:31Speaker 2: difficult or emotional terrain.
- 24:33Speaker 6: Yes, Actually the middle of my book, chapter three, four,
- 24:37Speaker 6: and five were the hardest. Chapter three, I kind of
- 24:41Speaker 6: talked a little bit about the situation with my son
- 24:43Speaker 6: and their dad.
- 24:45Speaker 4: My kid's dad.
- 24:46Speaker 6: It was a big custody battle where he wanted my
- 24:48Speaker 6: son to go with him and live with him, and
- 24:50Speaker 6: I didn't really want him to.
- 24:51Speaker 4: As a mother, I just.
- 24:54Speaker 6: I couldn't wrap my mind around the start of having
- 24:56Speaker 6: to give up my son. So I basically I started
- 24:59Speaker 6: realizing there's so many women who have lost their children,
- 25:02Speaker 6: or you know, we look at Abraham have the Psycrifatice
- 25:05Speaker 6: sacrifice his son. So I just kind of I was like, well,
- 25:08Speaker 6: you know, they did it, I can do it again.
- 25:10Speaker 4: That whole obedience thing. Chapter four was hard for me.
- 25:14Speaker 6: It was I'm a big hopeless romantic at heart, and
- 25:17Speaker 6: it was really about this guy that had rejected me,
- 25:20Speaker 6: and I had to learn to not let that break me.
- 25:23Speaker 4: But that's really like what birth the Prettiest Woman.
- 25:26Speaker 6: And then chapter five was hard because it's kind of
- 25:28Speaker 6: like the season that I'm still in, you know, it's
- 25:30Speaker 6: called vehicles, and I'm talking about the different vehicles that
- 25:33Speaker 6: God used to get us from point eight to point
- 25:35Speaker 6: B the launches into our purpose.
- 25:37Speaker 4: And so I'm still kind of figuring.
- 25:38Speaker 6: It out, like I have a better idea from when
- 25:40Speaker 6: I broke the book a year ago, but just so
- 25:42Speaker 6: still trying to figure it out. So they're just like
- 25:44Speaker 6: stories that I don't know if I haven't end to yet,
- 25:47Speaker 6: But there were seasons that I would had enough information
- 25:50Speaker 6: to talk about to share with somebody else.
- 25:53Speaker 2: So so it sounds like that your faith influenced the
- 25:55Speaker 2: message of the Prettiest Woman.
- 26:00Speaker 3: What does walk in your purpose?
- 26:02Speaker 2: And how do you see others doing the same through
- 26:04Speaker 2: your book's message?
- 26:07Speaker 6: So walking in My Purpose to me means the moment
- 26:09Speaker 6: you realize you're doing exactly what God created you to do,
- 26:12Speaker 6: it's like that light bulb that goes off, like, oh.
- 26:14Speaker 4: Like I get it.
- 26:15Speaker 6: I get why I went through that, I get why
- 26:17Speaker 6: I'm going through this. I understand you know, like you
- 26:19Speaker 6: know where I'm supposed to be going next. And so
- 26:22Speaker 6: often I say the world is messed up because people
- 26:24Speaker 6: don't really realize, like I said earlier, that we are
- 26:26Speaker 6: not here for ourselves.
- 26:28Speaker 4: You know, we are.
- 26:29Speaker 6: Doing things, but we're really creating a blueprint for the
- 26:31Speaker 6: people that come behind us. And so that's the message
- 26:36Speaker 6: that I want people to understand. You know, the book
- 26:39Speaker 6: The Prettiest Woman, I so my original cover have my
- 26:41Speaker 6: face on a God clearly told me take my face
- 26:44Speaker 6: off of it because it wasn't the first book helped me.
- 26:46Speaker 6: It was like my tangible evidence that I was worthy
- 26:48Speaker 6: or that I can create something. But he had me
- 26:51Speaker 6: put a silhouette of a woman so more people can
- 26:53Speaker 6: see themselves and resonate with the message that we all
- 26:55Speaker 6: go through things, but you know it's for a purpose.
- 26:59Speaker 6: It's for somebody else, so to be inspired to leave
- 27:02Speaker 6: with grouf and if you have kids or you know,
- 27:04Speaker 6: I love working with children.
- 27:05Speaker 4: So we're not here for us.
- 27:09Speaker 6: And that's really when you realize that moment and you're
- 27:11Speaker 6: in whatever that things looks like for you.
- 27:16Speaker 2: Yeah, hey, Patries, thanks for joining us. So Shana, you've
- 27:20Speaker 2: rooted your book in one ped three and three. How
- 27:23Speaker 2: was that scripture shape you understanding of beauty and self work?
- 27:27Speaker 6: So I say, it's a lot of pretty ugly people
- 27:30Speaker 6: out in the world. So you know, the world is
- 27:32Speaker 6: full of glitz and glam. You know, everybody want to
- 27:35Speaker 6: look pretty on the outside.
- 27:36Speaker 4: We get our hair.
- 27:37Speaker 6: Done, lashes, makeup, But what do you care about what
- 27:41Speaker 6: looks like what you look.
- 27:42Speaker 4: Like on the inside. So you know, you could be
- 27:44Speaker 4: the prettiest person in the world or the most handsome
- 27:46Speaker 4: man in the world.
- 27:47Speaker 6: But if you rude, if you arrogant, if you mean
- 27:49Speaker 6: to people like, nobody really cared. And so I really
- 27:52Speaker 6: tried to make sure that I stay focused on not
- 27:55Speaker 6: glitter or glaming myself up. But you know that I
- 27:58Speaker 6: was kind of people even though I was breaking, you know,
- 28:01Speaker 6: I was. My heart was breaking, my life felt like
- 28:03Speaker 6: it was falling apart, but I knew God had better
- 28:06Speaker 6: for me. So just really trying to represent people. And
- 28:09Speaker 6: I had a friend tell me the other day, she said, girl,
- 28:10Speaker 6: I had no idea.
- 28:12Speaker 4: And it's not that I.
- 28:13Speaker 6: Was trying to hide anything, but it's like, but you
- 28:14Speaker 6: weren't supposed to. You know, you're gonna pity my life.
- 28:18Speaker 6: So I walk around looking sad, You're not going to
- 28:20Speaker 6: want to follow on my footsteps. And I'm trying to
- 28:22Speaker 6: tell you that the thing that you're going through are
- 28:24Speaker 6: for a purpose.
- 28:25Speaker 4: So don't let it make you better and be rude
- 28:30Speaker 4: and mean, like, let it make you better?
- 28:33Speaker 2: Oh wow? Yeah, so you mentioned that writing became your
- 28:38Speaker 2: light during the dark season. How did writing help you heal?
- 28:42Speaker 2: And what advice would you get to other spaces semular
- 28:44Speaker 2: challenges because that was like your writing journey was a
- 28:50Speaker 2: healing journey as well.
- 28:53Speaker 4: I agree.
- 28:54Speaker 6: I feel like it is or it was. I feel
- 28:56Speaker 6: like there are some places in parts of me that
- 28:57Speaker 6: are still here, but writing helped me. It's to heal
- 29:00Speaker 6: by giving me something to look forward through too. That
- 29:02Speaker 6: was mine, you know, like I have my children, and
- 29:05Speaker 6: I have my my you know, interior design business or
- 29:08Speaker 6: you know, things like that, but writing actually gave me.
- 29:11Speaker 6: I'm like, I'm quoted up here, you know my book,
- 29:13Speaker 6: like anytime that I'm struggling or can you see it
- 29:16Speaker 6: anytime that I'm struggling or having a hard moment, like
- 29:19Speaker 6: I can go back to a chapter and be like, okay, Shane,
- 29:21Speaker 6: and we made it through, Like I could be my
- 29:23Speaker 6: best cheerleader. You made it through and you have ten
- 29:26Speaker 6: and it was a war winning and people liked it
- 29:28Speaker 6: and you know, it opened doors. You're you're meeting more
- 29:30Speaker 6: women and more mentors who are being touched by your
- 29:33Speaker 6: story or who want to have you come and speak.
- 29:35Speaker 4: To different events and things like that.
- 29:37Speaker 6: So that was really big and it gave me something
- 29:40Speaker 6: to look forward to.
- 29:43Speaker 3: You.
- 29:43Speaker 2: You have somebody in here saying that you're giving away
- 29:45Speaker 2: so many different nuggets. And you had mentioned earlier excuse
- 29:49Speaker 2: me about you getting up so early in the morning
- 29:52Speaker 2: and praying, and they're saying that every day at five
- 29:55Speaker 2: am East to time, they have prayer and intercession.
- 30:00Speaker 3: So that's excuse me. I'm so sorry.
- 30:04Speaker 2: That's coming from the Crew Network Aspiring Authors magazine, and
- 30:09Speaker 2: that's our producer who is up at five am while
- 30:12Speaker 2: I'm turning over for maybe the second or third time
- 30:15Speaker 2: that there's intercession. So someone she's saying also that, okay,
- 30:23Speaker 2: come on now. She said that part, and it's just
- 30:26Speaker 2: like every part that you've been saying. She said, every
- 30:29Speaker 2: chance she gets be the change that we desired to see.
- 30:39Speaker 2: I'm so sorry. Something got me. Barent is saying that
- 30:41Speaker 2: she loves your transparency. It's definitely going to read so
- 30:45Speaker 2: many and it has that I'm not just coughughing, it's
- 30:49Speaker 2: just choking me up and everything else along with it.
- 30:52Speaker 2: Every author pieces moments of doubt. Was there ever a
- 30:55Speaker 2: time that you wanted to give up on the book?
- 30:57Speaker 2: And if so, what pushed you to keep going?
- 31:01Speaker 6: So, when we didn't figure out if my chapter three
- 31:05Speaker 6: or my chapter five made since or not, you know,
- 31:07Speaker 6: like I knew what I was talking about, but for
- 31:09Speaker 6: those who didn't really know the detail I said, and
- 31:11Speaker 6: wondered a lot, like did they would they understand the
- 31:13Speaker 6: point that I was trying to convey. I didn't want
- 31:16Speaker 6: it to be a messy book, so I didn't put
- 31:18Speaker 6: the details or the ugly details in there. I wanted
- 31:20Speaker 6: it to focus on, you know, the positive things. And
- 31:24Speaker 6: I think sometimes with focusing on just the positive, it
- 31:27Speaker 6: feels incomplete, because like we want people to know our
- 31:31Speaker 6: feelings and our details in our story.
- 31:32Speaker 4: Like I wasn't trying to bash.
- 31:33Speaker 6: Anybody or say anybody, you know, I really just wanted
- 31:37Speaker 6: to inspire people with it. But what pushed me to
- 31:39Speaker 6: keep going was I was asking myself, but what if
- 31:42Speaker 6: they do get it? What if they do understand exactly
- 31:45Speaker 6: what you're talking about and they don't have those negative
- 31:48Speaker 6: details to sew seeds of negativity in their heads?
- 31:51Speaker 4: You know?
- 31:52Speaker 6: So I'm like all right, Well, we're gonna do it,
- 31:53Speaker 6: and we're gonna figure out, you know, if they're resonated.
- 31:56Speaker 4: With people, if they liked it. We just gonna figure
- 31:59Speaker 4: it out. We go.
- 32:01Speaker 2: It feels like your book was also a learning journey.
- 32:04Speaker 2: What was the most surprising thing you learned about yourself
- 32:07Speaker 2: throughout the writing and self publishing journey.
- 32:11Speaker 6: I think just that I actually have something to say,
- 32:14Speaker 6: or that people are really listening or curious. I know
- 32:17Speaker 6: a lot of times people say like family and friends
- 32:19Speaker 6: don't support you. Well, I have a lot of family
- 32:22Speaker 6: and friends that did support me, and with their support
- 32:25Speaker 6: and buying both copies of my book or you know,
- 32:27Speaker 6: just sharing the messages, like it really was like dang,
- 32:30Speaker 6: you know, people really do you know, mess with me
- 32:32Speaker 6: or want to hear what I have to say. And
- 32:33Speaker 6: so that was my you know, I think so I've
- 32:38Speaker 6: had like a lot of experience from childhood up until
- 32:40Speaker 6: now that you don't really realize it's a form of trauma,
- 32:42Speaker 6: but like things that made me feel like the words
- 32:44Speaker 6: that I had to say were insignificant, you know, and so.
- 32:47Speaker 4: I would shy. I would always move to the back.
- 32:49Speaker 6: Or you know, if you see me out at the
- 32:52Speaker 6: award cere of my friends is like I might have
- 32:54Speaker 6: won something elaborate like on the outside, but I'm going
- 32:56Speaker 6: to always shot to the back because I don't really
- 32:58Speaker 6: like what you've seen. But that's because I've been told
- 33:00Speaker 6: a lot of my life that what I have to
- 33:02Speaker 6: say is not important. And then I realized that that's
- 33:04Speaker 6: a lot like people do care what I'm talking about,
- 33:07Speaker 6: and so that's really what pushes me to keep going.
- 33:11Speaker 6: You know, I'm like, I'm so excited to be in
- 33:12Speaker 6: a place where i can tell my story and you know,
- 33:16Speaker 6: I hope my prayer that it does and inspire somebody.
- 33:20Speaker 2: Well, what I would say is The Prettiest Woman was
- 33:24Speaker 2: written by the prettiest woman. Don't that you have nothing
- 33:28Speaker 2: to say because you're making an impact as it is.
- 33:32Speaker 2: You know, on legacy, you've mentioned leaving an important and
- 33:36Speaker 2: an imprint on today's society for tomorrow. What do you
- 33:40Speaker 2: hope your legacy will be as an author and as
- 33:42Speaker 2: a woman of faith.
- 33:45Speaker 6: I'm hoping that my legacy and I kept sitting like
- 33:47Speaker 6: making sure this is what I really want to say.
- 33:49Speaker 6: I really want my legacy to be that my life
- 33:52Speaker 6: is tangible evidence that God is real. I want to bring,
- 33:58Speaker 6: you know, and so I want to bring people back
- 34:00Speaker 6: to the guy back in the day where you can
- 34:02Speaker 6: be like, you know, the guy that part of the
- 34:04Speaker 6: Red Sea or the guy that healed this person.
- 34:06Speaker 4: You know.
- 34:06Speaker 6: I feel like a lot of times we put God
- 34:08Speaker 6: on a surface level or keep him in a box
- 34:10Speaker 6: and think like, oh, because I wrote this down and
- 34:13Speaker 6: I went out and I worked hard at this, I
- 34:15Speaker 6: was able to manifest that business. And it's like, but
- 34:18Speaker 6: sometimes a God don't even really want to do all
- 34:20Speaker 6: of that work. There is work that has to be done.
- 34:23Speaker 6: But like if you leave room for him to really
- 34:25Speaker 6: you know, plant the seeds or just like sow seed
- 34:28Speaker 6: into you of what to do next, like how to
- 34:30Speaker 6: order yourself, Like that's when you really learn like who
- 34:32Speaker 6: God really is, Like He's so much bigger than the
- 34:34Speaker 6: box that we.
- 34:35Speaker 4: Put him in. And that's what I want people to understand.
- 34:37Speaker 4: You know.
- 34:40Speaker 3: Well, I hope people were listening to that.
- 34:43Speaker 2: Shana Chanette says that you have inspired her so much. See,
- 34:47Speaker 2: you do have something to say because.
- 34:49Speaker 4: People are list to what they're saying.
- 34:52Speaker 2: H With that being said, how is the feedback from
- 34:55Speaker 2: readers of the Prettiest Woman impacted you so far.
- 34:59Speaker 6: You know, Black Diamond, I don't really ask I have
- 35:02Speaker 6: not asked for reviews. I have not asked for anything.
- 35:07Speaker 6: So I appreciate the feedback that everybody's given me today,
- 35:11Speaker 6: but I don't you know, you don't want to know it.
- 35:12Speaker 6: I don't want to get discouraged. I think there's a
- 35:15Speaker 6: little bit of fear there, you know, like what if
- 35:16Speaker 6: somebody tells me, you know, I don't like it, and
- 35:19Speaker 6: I'm still trying to convince myself or believe myself.
- 35:21Speaker 4: That it is real. So if y'all hear, I mean,
- 35:25Speaker 4: give me some reviews would be nice. Don't don't. Don't
- 35:28Speaker 4: put water on my pa.
- 35:28Speaker 3: That's how you grown.
- 35:30Speaker 2: That's how you grow because you're trying to figure out
- 35:33Speaker 2: what about that person you did not reach because it
- 35:37Speaker 2: was something that they may have missed.
- 35:40Speaker 3: So don't be afraid to look at the feedback. You know.
- 35:43Speaker 3: My daughter just stood here and she had.
- 35:45Speaker 2: Mentioned something about the podcast, and she says, how does
- 35:49Speaker 2: it go?
- 35:49Speaker 3: I said, I never watched my own podcast. Once it's over,
- 35:52Speaker 3: it's over. She said, you don't watch it.
- 35:54Speaker 2: I said, no, it's not that I don't care about
- 35:56Speaker 2: it about anyone, but it.
- 35:58Speaker 3: Was already said and it was done.
- 35:59Speaker 2: I can't take anything back, but I know that I can,
- 36:02Speaker 2: I can learn from it. But I just keep pushing.
- 36:05Speaker 2: But there's people that's looking to you, and they're going
- 36:08Speaker 2: to continue to expect more from you. Even some naysayers.
- 36:12Speaker 2: They may be they says at that time, because that's
- 36:15Speaker 2: where they're at. And that's why I say, I always
- 36:17Speaker 2: try to meet people where they're at, yea, And maybe
- 36:20Speaker 2: they're not where you're at yet, but read those because
- 36:24Speaker 2: maybe you are the one that can bring them for
- 36:26Speaker 2: because that might be the job that God wants you
- 36:29Speaker 2: to do, but you're not seeing it because you're not
- 36:31Speaker 2: looking back at it.
- 36:33Speaker 3: So look back at it.
- 36:34Speaker 4: I would appreciate that.
- 36:36Speaker 6: And Gena even said that Gena Gassing the visionary behind
- 36:40Speaker 6: the Disting which office guild. She said a lot of
- 36:42Speaker 6: times like if people.
- 36:43Speaker 4: Don't win the award, they never asked her why.
- 36:46Speaker 6: And when she said, I was like, you know that
- 36:49Speaker 6: you should ask why, because like you feel, it's all
- 36:51Speaker 6: about it as part of the growth, you know.
- 36:53Speaker 4: So yes, I appreciate that.
- 36:55Speaker 2: Just improvement people give out a Nugga's book, I alould
- 36:58Speaker 2: tell my children that if is free. And when it
- 37:01Speaker 2: comes knocking on my door, I'm putting it in the
- 37:03Speaker 2: headlock and I'm not letting it go. That's right to
- 37:06Speaker 2: say when it's gonna come back around against So yeah,
- 37:09Speaker 2: if you see me this, you don't see nobody there
- 37:11Speaker 2: because advice just knocked on my door and I'm gonna
- 37:14Speaker 2: take it.
- 37:14Speaker 3: Tell me take it. I'm gonna take it.
- 37:16Speaker 2: So what message do you want your children to take?
- 37:18Speaker 2: A story and the example that you set as their mother.
- 37:23Speaker 6: It's something that I think we've all heard a lot
- 37:25Speaker 6: of times. What doesn't kill you literally makes you stronger.
- 37:29Speaker 6: Keep going. Eliminate the voices. Look as I'm just saying,
- 37:33Speaker 6: like I don't want to hear the voice that's telling
- 37:34Speaker 6: me my good, my book is good?
- 37:36Speaker 4: Were bad? Eliminate the voices.
- 37:38Speaker 6: Get God, Get connected to God and figure out what
- 37:41Speaker 6: your purpose is, and.
- 37:42Speaker 4: You know, just keep moving forward.
- 37:45Speaker 6: I really want people to see like, no matter what,
- 37:47Speaker 6: like my daughter didn't see a lot, but my son
- 37:49Speaker 6: has seen in life. He's fourteen now and despite everything
- 37:52Speaker 6: that he may have seen.
- 37:53Speaker 4: Like I still persevered.
- 37:55Speaker 6: I still kept going Like life is going to knock
- 37:56Speaker 6: you down a hundred times, but keep going until you
- 37:59Speaker 6: just literally can't go no more. And when you can't
- 38:01Speaker 6: go no more, like that's the end of your rope.
- 38:02Speaker 6: It's time for somebody else to.
- 38:03Speaker 4: Pick up the torch.
- 38:06Speaker 2: Now, this is a young lady that's said here and
- 38:09Speaker 2: say that she don't have anything to say, she don't
- 38:12Speaker 2: have much to say, she don't think anybody's listening, and
- 38:15Speaker 2: that this is her first book, and she came out swinging.
- 38:19Speaker 2: What's next for miss Shana.
- 38:22Speaker 6: So mentioned the journal that I'm hoping to get out
- 38:25Speaker 6: by the end of this year, the collaboration project with
- 38:28Speaker 6: the Mentor. I have a youth ministry that I'm waiting
- 38:33Speaker 6: to launch. So it's kind of like a branch from
- 38:35Speaker 6: the earlier ministry that I was working with the Mentor
- 38:37Speaker 6: with it was called She's All That. This one is
- 38:39Speaker 6: called the Prettiest Little Women Ministry, and it's really it's
- 38:42Speaker 6: been off of my book, but it's more so portant
- 38:44Speaker 6: to younger girls ages seven through eighteen, and you know,
- 38:48Speaker 6: just really trying to get them to start on the inside,
- 38:52Speaker 6: you know, TikTok and everything else, and how you in
- 38:54Speaker 6: the mirror trying to get glamorified. And it was like,
- 38:56Speaker 6: I just want people to be you know, nice and
- 38:59Speaker 6: kind and pure and genuine and authentic and compassionate.
- 39:04Speaker 4: You know, So that's really those are the next couple
- 39:06Speaker 4: of things I'm working on right now.
- 39:09Speaker 2: It sounds like a little mentoring program for.
- 39:12Speaker 3: These little women.
- 39:14Speaker 2: Yeah, to be the prettiest woman, because these these these
- 39:17Speaker 2: these young ladies, these little girls are a little mini means,
- 39:21Speaker 2: whether my daughter or not, they need that because they
- 39:26Speaker 2: don't feel that and sometimes they're not told that. So
- 39:29Speaker 2: I'm hoping and I know that your book is going
- 39:32Speaker 2: to inspire them. And the book is not just for
- 39:34Speaker 2: these children. Parents pick up this book. If anyone listening
- 39:37Speaker 2: who may feel stuck on certain about pursuing their dreams,
- 39:41Speaker 2: what would you like them to take away from your story?
- 39:46Speaker 6: So again it sounds, you know, so simple, but failing
- 39:51Speaker 6: is only failure if you don't learn or grow from it.
- 39:54Speaker 4: You know, the book is for you know.
- 39:56Speaker 6: I was grateful that Gina and the Thing which offer
- 39:59Speaker 6: they play the book into.
- 40:00Speaker 4: The young adult category because I really have.
- 40:02Speaker 6: A heart to catch girls or young women before they
- 40:05Speaker 6: get out into the.
- 40:06Speaker 4: World and attain it by it.
- 40:08Speaker 6: But like you said, for an older women too, you know,
- 40:10Speaker 6: those who still have the courage to still believe. Go
- 40:15Speaker 6: for it, you know, pursue whatever it is that guy.
- 40:18Speaker 6: Don't stop letting life hold you back, no excuses. Let
- 40:21Speaker 6: the bitterness go there is. It is never too late
- 40:24Speaker 6: to keep growing, to keep blossoming, So that would be
- 40:28Speaker 6: my only failure if you don't learn or grow from it.
- 40:32Speaker 2: You heard it here, You heard it from Miss Shana.
- 40:35Speaker 2: Thank you Shana for sharing incredible journey and inspiring us
