- 1:08Speaker 1: to say thank you. So. But if you are looking
- 1:11Speaker 1: for a Facebook group, if you're still on Facebook and
- 1:16Speaker 1: you're looking for like minded people who love Hallmark, this
- 1:18Speaker 1: is the place to be strama free. It's a nice
- 1:23Speaker 1: little corner of the Internet still, that's right, And.
- 1:28Speaker 2: Speaking of things that are throwbacks, we have a phone
- 1:31Speaker 2: number that you can call. You know you can email
- 1:33Speaker 2: us girls go on Homemark at gmail dot com.
- 1:35Speaker 1: But if you just love to talk.
- 1:36Speaker 2: Into the phone, you can leave us a message talk Hallmark,
- 1:41Speaker 2: ask questions. We've got a couple of voicemails to read today.
- 1:43Speaker 2: But that phone number is nine four nine three two.
- 1:45Speaker 1: Nine eight zero nine zero. What is the outgoing message? Say?
- 1:50Speaker 1: On there? It's those things like is it you on there?
- 1:54Speaker 1: Going like? Hi, you've reached Girls Gone Homemark. Leave us
- 1:56Speaker 1: a message. Oh cool, I've never called it. We would
- 1:59Speaker 1: be funny. I'm going to call it. Leave a voicemail. Okay, Hey,
- 2:04Speaker 1: this is your resident Hallmark hater calling. I'm curious to
- 2:08Speaker 1: hear the outgrowing message.
- 2:10Speaker 2: I mean, yeah, it's not highly produced, but I just
- 2:13Speaker 2: wanted people to be aware that they were calling the
- 2:15Speaker 2: right place.
- 2:16Speaker 1: Cool. Yeh, I would hope so, because what if it
- 2:19Speaker 1: just was deep? Yeah? Are the user you have called
- 2:23Speaker 1: is not available? Yeah? Their mailbox is full because we're
- 2:27Speaker 1: so highly popular. All right, let's jump into these messages
- 2:32Speaker 1: from our lovely listeners. Can I start please? Our first
- 2:39Speaker 1: is an email from Mandy regarding Winn Calls the Heart. Hi, ladies,
- 2:44Speaker 1: I was wondering if the show you were trying to
- 2:46Speaker 1: reference as a comparison to Winn Calls the Heart might
- 2:49Speaker 1: be Doctor Quinn Medicine Woman. I recently finished the nineties
- 2:54Speaker 1: series and noticed the similarities Boston raised Mikayla Quinn arriving
- 2:59Speaker 1: in a small country town, hoping to help people and
- 3:02Speaker 1: forming connections with interesting characters along the way. It's wild
- 3:06Speaker 1: to think Winn Calls the Heart has been part of
- 3:09Speaker 1: my life for over ten years. I love the seasons
- 3:12Speaker 1: that strike a good balance between drama and wholesome small
- 3:16Speaker 1: town charm. Looking forward to seeing Hallmark continue to create
- 3:19Speaker 1: create more high quality series in different settings, like The
- 3:23Speaker 1: Way Home, Mandy Well. If I might answer this, Doctor
- 3:29Speaker 1: Quinn medsin Woman was not the series I was thinking
- 3:32Speaker 1: of or was trying to reference when comparing Wind Calls
- 3:35Speaker 1: the Heart. Remember when I was like do trying to
- 3:39Speaker 1: describe I do, and I've never seen that series. Have
- 3:45Speaker 1: you watched Doctor Quinn? No?
- 3:48Speaker 2: Martha Quinn has the lady with the long hair, right,
- 3:52Speaker 2: Doctor Quinn?
- 3:54Speaker 1: Yes? And I believe Seymore okay with the long hair,
- 3:58Speaker 1: not Crystal Gale long hair, but long hair. Yes? Do
- 4:03Speaker 1: you even know who Crystal Gale is? Don't the country
- 4:08Speaker 1: singer who has like floor length hair. Oh I don't yet.
- 4:12Speaker 1: The no's no memory there, okay, and in a complete
- 4:15Speaker 1: one eighty Jane Seymour in the movie Wedding Crashers is
- 4:20Speaker 1: not your Doctor Quinn Medicine Woman. No, No, the mom
- 4:24Speaker 1: wild Yeah, that's who I think when I think of
- 4:29Speaker 1: Jane c. I don't even clock down any But speaking
- 4:33Speaker 1: of Doctor Quinn, we have another listener, Era, who I
- 4:37Speaker 1: believe just jumped into that series and has been talking
- 4:40Speaker 1: about it in our Hallmark Facebook group. Well, would you
- 4:42Speaker 1: like to hear a voice message from Era? Since you
- 4:44Speaker 1: just since you just brought it up for.
- 4:46Speaker 3: Sure, all right, payning getting Wendy. This message is from Era,
- 4:53Speaker 3: So this is probably this sound like super random if
- 4:56Speaker 3: someone is not in the Faithbook group and didn't see
- 4:59Speaker 3: the pros that I had said that I was looking
- 5:03Speaker 3: for like a nostalgic show to watch. So I just
- 5:06Speaker 3: wanted to let you guys know I've been watching Doctor
- 5:09Speaker 3: Quinn Medicine Woman. And I know I'm like extremely like
- 5:13Speaker 3: decade late today, but I love like five or six
- 5:16Speaker 3: when this show came out in the early nineties, though
- 5:19Speaker 3: I never watched it until now. So I am currently
- 5:23Speaker 3: on episode eleven and of seven Morning, and I just
- 5:27Speaker 3: got to say that this might be like one of
- 5:30Speaker 3: the best shows I have ever watched. I am loving
- 5:33Speaker 3: it so much. Like the nineties nostalgia is so like
- 5:38Speaker 3: strong for me right now. I am so into like
- 5:41Speaker 3: watching nineties stuff though I mean, I know it's not
- 5:44Speaker 3: set in the nineties, but like, nineties shows are totally
- 5:48Speaker 3: my jam right now. So if you GOLs have any
- 5:51Speaker 3: recommendations of from really good shows from the nineties, that
- 5:56Speaker 3: is what I'm looking for right now. So I would
- 5:58Speaker 3: love any recommendations four from nineties shows.
- 6:02Speaker 1: Well, first of all, have you seen nine O two one? Oh?
- 6:09Speaker 1: That wasn't where I was gonna go. First of all,
- 6:10Speaker 1: when she's like, I was like five or six and
- 6:13Speaker 1: the five or six in the early nineties, I graduated
- 6:15Speaker 1: from high school in nineteen ninety three, so I waited
- 6:17Speaker 1: to make the girl feel old made a pace when
- 6:20Speaker 1: she said she was a young child in the early nineties.
- 6:23Speaker 1: But that's okay. I have a ton of nineties recommendations,
- 6:28Speaker 1: like shows from the nineties. Should I share them here?
- 6:31Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, yes, please, I have some too, But yes, okay,
- 6:34Speaker 1: First of all, my so called life was a grown
- 6:37Speaker 1: one season show. Jordan Catalano can Still Get It Hot,
- 6:41Speaker 1: Damn love that show. Party of Five was also a
- 6:46Speaker 1: great show, kind of in the vein of family drama
- 6:52Speaker 1: and baby That's how Shabert Baby Lacey Shabert. I completely
- 6:56Speaker 1: forgot Felicity. I just did a rewatch that show. Oh,
- 7:01Speaker 1: I loved it. Felicity was really good. Buffy the Vampire
- 7:05Speaker 1: Slayer was a really great show as well, Like impeccable
- 7:09Speaker 1: writing on that show. Lots of comedy and kind of
- 7:13Speaker 1: a weird sort of you know, vampire setting. Okay, what
- 7:19Speaker 1: else is coming to mind? What else do you have?
- 7:22Speaker 1: Dawson's Creek. Dawson's Creek very good. Also, notice it's leaving.
- 7:27Speaker 1: I think it's on like Hulu or Netflix. It's streaming somewhere,
- 7:30Speaker 1: but is leaving expiring in the next few days. So
- 7:33Speaker 1: I don't know where else that's going to come up,
- 7:34Speaker 1: but it's you can still find it. It's probably just
- 7:37Speaker 1: changing streaming services. Now.
- 7:40Speaker 2: I saw the note that this show that I'm about
- 7:43Speaker 2: to say is getting a reboot.
- 7:45Speaker 1: That is the show Seventh Heaven. It will be executive
- 7:48Speaker 1: produced by Jessica Biele. No, it will not include I
- 7:51Speaker 1: forget members of that cast. Stephen call, Yeah, what did
- 7:54Speaker 1: he would? It's not good.
- 7:55Speaker 2: We're not going to get into it, but okay, I
- 7:57Speaker 2: think we can guarantee he won't be Involved's Beverally Mitchell
- 8:01Speaker 2: going to read? There's no information like it's it's very
- 8:03Speaker 2: early stages, but it has been greenlit for a reboot.
- 8:07Speaker 2: I mean Beverly Mitchell. She and I went to college together,
- 8:10Speaker 2: you know, as my pat on the same campus. We
- 8:12Speaker 2: were not friends, you guys.
- 8:14Speaker 1: Okay, if anybody has ever listened to our any of
- 8:17Speaker 1: our podcasts for any period of time, the number of
- 8:21Speaker 1: celebrity name drops Megan makes for who she went to
- 8:23Speaker 1: college with. It grows by the month. It's Beberly Mitchell
- 8:26Speaker 1: is a brand new one to me.
- 8:28Speaker 2: It is Beverly Mitchell's new. She's younger than me. Colin Hanks,
- 8:31Speaker 2: Busy Phillips, and Alicia Silverstone are the others.
- 8:34Speaker 1: Mindy Cohen also well, yes, but she did not go
- 8:38Speaker 1: to school together. She just went We went to the
- 8:42Speaker 1: same school, but I would go at the same time
- 8:45Speaker 1: at those other people. Megan went to college in Los Angeles.
- 8:49Speaker 1: If you haven't put that together yet, But yeah, wow,
- 8:52Speaker 1: freaks and Geeks is a show that I did not want,
- 8:55Speaker 1: but very popular in the nineties. Speaking of Busy Phillips, Yes,
- 8:59Speaker 1: it was good. I did a rewatch of that within
- 9:01Speaker 1: the last five years. I really enjoyed it.
- 9:03Speaker 2: Ally McBeal also another nineties show that was a little weird,
- 9:08Speaker 2: but I.
- 9:09Speaker 1: Really loved Ally McBeal. Not a fan, I liked it.
- 9:13Speaker 1: I mean Chugo, that's just Oh. Sports Night was a
- 9:21Speaker 1: great show. Oh it was a comedy Aaron Sortian Man
- 9:26Speaker 1: and Megan's favorite, The West Wing.
- 9:28Speaker 2: Yeah, I started in nineteen ninety nine, so it's barely nineties.
- 9:31Speaker 2: It's not streaming, which is like the saddest moment, saddest
- 9:35Speaker 2: thing of my life. I did buy the DVDs because
- 9:36Speaker 2: I had never seen it, but it's a lot of
- 9:38Speaker 2: works like get up and put in a DVD when
- 9:40Speaker 2: it like changes three four episodes. So I never watch
- 9:44Speaker 2: it because I'm like, I need it streaming, it's too much.
- 9:47Speaker 2: And then I'm like, because I don't, it's not tracking
- 9:51Speaker 2: on my streamer like my watch progress.
- 9:54Speaker 1: I'm like, what episode of my own I don't know?
- 9:55Speaker 1: It's too hard. Yeah. Yeah, So hopefully those were some
- 10:01Speaker 1: nineties suggestions for you raa thank you for that voicemail. Yeah,
- 10:06Speaker 1: if you guys have any other ones, please email us
- 10:08Speaker 1: or give us a call and we will share them
- 10:10Speaker 1: on the future episode. We have an email from Beverly.
- 10:15Speaker 2: She's sucking Rachel Boston in this email and says, Hi, gals,
- 10:18Speaker 2: I'm listening to your fan favorites from last month, and
- 10:20Speaker 2: I enjoyed them all. I especially loved Dating the Deliney's
- 10:23Speaker 2: as this is one of my favorite movies.
- 10:26Speaker 1: Like you both, I have.
- 10:27Speaker 2: Come to really love Rachel Boston pt tubs. There's gonna
- 10:30Speaker 2: be Rachel Boston news in our next Homemark Headlines episode.
- 10:34Speaker 2: I like the roles she has been given and she
- 10:37Speaker 2: plays them with what seems like great ease. I did
- 10:40Speaker 2: enjoy the puns and the dad jokes. You also talked
- 10:43Speaker 2: about Paul Campbell's character in his first movie. The character
- 10:46Speaker 2: name was Grindly.
- 10:48Speaker 1: Thank you, Beverly.
- 10:51Speaker 2: I think I started to really appreciate him after I
- 10:53Speaker 2: watched that movie a few times. I do like Paul
- 10:55Speaker 2: a lot. Also, I look back to see if I
- 10:57Speaker 2: could find a review on The More Love Grows with
- 10:59Speaker 2: Ray and the Hattie Warren Christie. I could not find
- 11:03Speaker 2: it in my opinion, it is a great movie that
- 11:05Speaker 2: deals with the couple's separation, their daughters moved to college,
- 11:09Speaker 2: a new experience, owning a dog, her relationship with.
- 11:11Speaker 1: Her mom, etc. Man, I mean, do we need to
- 11:15Speaker 1: watch that? Like hmm.
- 11:19Speaker 2: If there are other fan favorites you may be reviewing
- 11:21Speaker 2: in the future, I would suggest this movie. You may
- 11:24Speaker 2: not have done it because it was originally shown on
- 11:25Speaker 2: Hallmark Movies and Mysteries. They did premiere it on the
- 11:28Speaker 2: Hallmark channel sometime after that also never because a man
- 11:32Speaker 2: in a Christmas htter. I really think you should give
- 11:33Speaker 2: it a try. I did like it a lot, and
- 11:35Speaker 2: I think you both would as well.
- 11:38Speaker 1: Spoiler we hated it originally, we did.
- 11:40Speaker 2: And it was also like this fourth movie we ever reviewed,
- 11:44Speaker 2: and so we were coming at it from a very
- 11:46Speaker 2: different place. I'm actually just looking to see when the
- 11:50Speaker 2: More Love Grows came out.
- 11:52Speaker 1: Oh, it was twenty twenty three. I wonder why we
- 11:55Speaker 1: skipped it because I don't know. Yeah, maybe because I
- 12:00Speaker 1: was on Hallmark Movies and Mysteries. Perhaps Well, I will
- 12:06Speaker 1: say we have kind of a short running list right
- 12:09Speaker 1: now of fan favorites people are requested.
- 12:14Speaker 2: Yeah, so it was in August of twenty twenty three,
- 12:17Speaker 2: and I think the reason we're going to do it.
- 12:19Speaker 1: Is because it's summer. Yeah. Our next email is from
- 12:22Speaker 1: Janice regarding Jesse Metcalf. I'm sure you've been buried with explanations,
- 12:27Speaker 1: but I'm going to still add mine. If you didn't know,
- 12:30Speaker 1: we reviewed the pilot episode of Chesapeake Shores. We came
- 12:34Speaker 1: away from it with a lot of questions because we
- 12:37Speaker 1: had learned that Jesse Metcalf did not stay throughout this
- 12:42Speaker 1: entire series. Yes, so here is the explanation. Jesse Metcalf
- 12:46Speaker 1: does leave the show and ends his relationship with Abby.
- 12:50Speaker 1: There were more than one love triangle thrown in their
- 12:53Speaker 1: path the last season Robert Buckley and then, in parentheses,
- 12:57Speaker 1: says Junior Janis is listener, Robert Buckley comes in and
- 13:02Speaker 1: becomes her love interest. The one thing that bugged me
- 13:05Speaker 1: was that Megan Ory was pregnant more than once during
- 13:08Speaker 1: the run of the show, but her character never was.
- 13:11Speaker 1: Her pregnancies always seemed to be in the later months
- 13:14Speaker 1: when filming, so she wore a lot of ponchos and
- 13:16Speaker 1: carried huge bags. They never hit it very well and
- 13:19Speaker 1: made it hard to suspend reality. And see her relationships
- 13:23Speaker 1: as terribly romantic. Gregory Harrison had a recurring role as
- 13:27Speaker 1: Treat William's brother. I watched all of Chesapeake Shores, and
- 13:32Speaker 1: I think I was annoyed by just every about Wait, sorry,
- 13:36Speaker 1: I watched all of Chesapeake Shores, and I think I
- 13:38Speaker 1: was annoyed by just about every character's behavior at least once.
- 13:42Speaker 1: Regarding Jesse Metcalf, I think the Hallmark movie A Country
- 13:46Speaker 1: Wedding parentheses heavy review that you must Jesse Metcalf in
- 13:50Speaker 1: that movie put the teen characters he played in other
- 13:52Speaker 1: movies out of my mind. He grew up good Oh
- 13:58Speaker 1: I love he grew up a good do. Maybe we
- 14:02Speaker 1: need a country wedding as a Jesse Metcalf palate cleanser before.
- 14:08Speaker 1: I love that idea.
- 14:10Speaker 2: Oh hugeanis yes. Thank you for clarifying our many many questions.
- 14:16Speaker 2: I Hey, Jill emailed with a question about the Way
- 14:18Speaker 2: Home throwback. She says, I have a question about the
- 14:23Speaker 2: Way Home. As someone who has owned a farm, it
- 14:24Speaker 2: seems to me that Dell and Jacob don't really farm.
- 14:27Speaker 2: Farmers get up early, don't have much spare time, and
- 14:29Speaker 2: are super busy when it is harvest time. Del seems
- 14:32Speaker 2: to have time to make pottery, sell things at the market,
- 14:34Speaker 2: visit with friends, and canoodle with Sam and Jacob, pops
- 14:37Speaker 2: in the pond, and no one seems to mind the crops.
- 14:39Speaker 2: I don't even know what they are farming. What happened
- 14:42Speaker 2: to the small garden at the high schoolers developed that
- 14:44Speaker 2: was in the front yard? Did that go away? I
- 14:46Speaker 2: know we're supposed to suspend belief with this series. Perhaps
- 14:49Speaker 2: it's the same belief we suspend when Cat seems to
- 14:51Speaker 2: run a paper but doesn't really. I was wondering what
- 14:54Speaker 2: your thoughts were.
- 14:56Speaker 1: Good question. I don't know what they farm there, do you?
- 15:00Speaker 2: I think it's no, no, no, But I think this
- 15:03Speaker 2: is the same situation as how do the characters on
- 15:05Speaker 2: Friends have so much time to spend in a coffee shop?
- 15:08Speaker 1: Oh? Yeah, yeah, because it's more interesting than watching them work.
- 15:13Speaker 1: Mm hmm, that's funny. That is gonna like really haunt
- 15:18Speaker 1: my brain about what they farm there.
- 15:21Speaker 2: I mean she's got bees, right, there's honey, but you
- 15:24Speaker 2: don't farm bees?
- 15:27Speaker 1: Yeah? No idea, no idea. If you guys know, give
- 15:31Speaker 1: us a phone call, please, Hey? Back to Chesapeake Shores.
- 15:37Speaker 1: As emails from Jamie, I found your podcast and started
- 15:41Speaker 1: listening consistently based on the Way Home reviews, I was
- 15:44Speaker 1: a loyal watcher, but not a deep diver. Took me
- 15:47Speaker 1: till season three to connect Alice to Alice in Wonderland. Lol.
- 15:52Speaker 1: Now I listened to most of your episodes most just
- 15:56Speaker 1: kid it I'm playing. I'm just kidding, Daviy. Now I
- 16:01Speaker 1: listened to most of your episodes. I have found some
- 16:04Speaker 1: new Hallmark movies based on the April review, so thank you.
- 16:08Speaker 1: I watched most of the original series on Hallmark, but
- 16:11Speaker 1: hate so much how they ruined the Chesapeake Shores series.
- 16:15Speaker 1: I read the books, so I came in with a
- 16:17Speaker 1: lot of preconceived notions. That was probably my first mistake.
- 16:22Speaker 1: The casting of Megan as Abby and Jesse as Trace
- 16:26Speaker 1: was doomed from the start, so I wasn't surprised that
- 16:29Speaker 1: they ended up not being endgame. In the first book
- 16:32Speaker 1: of the series, they resolve their issues and get together,
- 16:35Speaker 1: engaged or married I can't recall yet. In the TV series,
- 16:39Speaker 1: three seasons later, after so many starts and stops, they
- 16:42Speaker 1: break up. I understand having to slow play for TV,
- 16:45Speaker 1: but this was ridiculous. I beg of Hallmark to stop
- 16:48Speaker 1: buying books and turning them into series. They did the
- 16:51Speaker 1: same with theed Cove a little bit better but not great.
- 16:54Speaker 1: Thanks for your fun reviews. It's a nice break from
- 16:57Speaker 1: the true crime podcast. I also listened to, Hey, fellow
- 17:02Speaker 1: true crime podcast do you still still a lot of
- 17:05Speaker 1: true crime? When I have time? I enjoy it. It's
- 17:08Speaker 1: a palate cleanser for me. That's what I prefer to
- 17:12Speaker 1: watch and listen to. I'm sorry, not sorry, you don't
- 17:14Speaker 1: mean to be sorry. It's funny that it's a palate
- 17:17Speaker 1: cleanser to me. I'm like, I need a palate cleanser
- 17:19Speaker 1: after true crime, Jamie. I need to know what true
- 17:23Speaker 1: podcasts true crime podcasts you're into. Please email us back
- 17:27Speaker 1: attention Wendy. Yeah.
- 17:30Speaker 2: Our next email is from Alison, also in regards to
- 17:32Speaker 2: Chesapeak Shores, who says, I recently had a long road
- 17:34Speaker 2: trip and enjoyed catching up on your recent podcasts. Really
- 17:38Speaker 2: loving your take on The Chicken Sisters.
- 17:40Speaker 1: I don't have.
- 17:41Speaker 2: Homar plus, so I'm enjoying these and agree a lot
- 17:43Speaker 2: with your reviews. I think I like the show, but
- 17:46Speaker 2: at times I don't.
- 17:48Speaker 1: Hey, O Tame Wendy. I was super excited to hear
- 17:51Speaker 1: you did Chesta Peak Shores. I love the books too.
- 17:53Speaker 1: I would love to see you guys review a season
- 17:55Speaker 1: over an episode or two. Way too much to do
- 17:58Speaker 1: all of them and spread them out over the year,
- 18:00Speaker 1: but was very taken aback by the talk on Jesse Metcalf.
- 18:04Speaker 1: I love him in this series and the mystery movies
- 18:06Speaker 1: he did, plus some non Hallmark I hope you love
- 18:09Speaker 1: him too if you watch this series more. I never
- 18:11Speaker 1: really watched Desperate Housewives though. Desperate Housewives another show from
- 18:16Speaker 1: the nineties era. Yeah nineties, maybe that was the early
- 18:20Speaker 1: two thousands, but still yeah, I don't remember, but yes,
- 18:24Speaker 1: from that era. Check it out. Yeah, I get a
- 18:26Speaker 1: lot of Desperate Housewives clips fed to me on TikTok random.
- 18:31Speaker 2: Yeah you, for some reason, you don't get television clips
- 18:34Speaker 2: on TikTok.
- 18:35Speaker 1: The problem is why I will thanks for thanks for
- 18:37Speaker 1: mentioning it. My problem is as soon as you watch
- 18:40Speaker 1: one forget about it, you're gonna no. I get like
- 18:44Speaker 1: daddy TikTok's over what's his name? Noah Wiley on oh yes,
- 18:51Speaker 1: yes edits people have made about him. I don't hate it.
- 18:55Speaker 1: I like Noah Wiley as.
- 18:57Speaker 2: Well, so Hey, I wanted to address something that Allison says.
- 19:03Speaker 2: She says, I would love to see you guys review
- 19:06Speaker 2: a season over an episode or two. So after we
- 19:08Speaker 2: did our first impression episode of Chesapeak Schores, a lot
- 19:13Speaker 2: of people were like, we would love to see you
- 19:14Speaker 2: do this series, and I was like, this, fifty five episodes,
- 19:16Speaker 2: it's a big commitment. However, several people were like, hey,
- 19:22Speaker 2: you don't have to do an episode for every episode
- 19:24Speaker 2: of the show, and a couple people were like, just
- 19:27Speaker 2: do like like they said, two episodes per season, so
- 19:34Speaker 2: like first half, second half.
- 19:37Speaker 1: So I would can be convinced to do that when
- 19:44Speaker 1: this is some inside baseball. When the format is different,
- 19:48Speaker 1: like when you're trying to put together like a show
- 19:50Speaker 1: notes or a review and the format is breaks from
- 19:52Speaker 1: our typical it gets hard to get started. You feel
- 19:57Speaker 1: me Megan on that.
- 19:58Speaker 2: Yeah, but couldn't the format be the same. You're just
- 20:01Speaker 2: combining five I don't know that the format needs to change.
- 20:05Speaker 1: Yeah, just combining all of your thoughts from five episodes. Okay,
- 20:10Speaker 1: I mean, I don't hate it. It's not gonna happen
- 20:13Speaker 1: until twenty twenty six. I'm telling you right now. I
- 20:16Speaker 1: can see what is avalanching towards us, and it's not
- 20:19Speaker 1: gonna happen until twenty twenty six. Yeah, you guys, So
- 20:23Speaker 1: this again also behind the scenes for summer. We already
- 20:27Speaker 1: have our summer planned in terms of what we're going
- 20:29Speaker 1: to review and like new series and new movies, right,
- 20:34Speaker 1: and then we're gonna get into fall and Christmas, and
- 20:39Speaker 1: it's there's no extra time to do any extra reviews basically,
- 20:44Speaker 1: So then that leads us to January, where it's kind
- 20:47Speaker 1: of lighter on Hallmark. So perhaps maybe that's where we
- 20:50Speaker 1: can do it. Perhaps I don't hate it like a
- 20:54Speaker 1: Chesapeaks January, yeah, or chest Peaks summer, even it's not going, yes, summer,
- 21:01Speaker 1: it's it's not going anywhere.
- 21:04Speaker 2: And if you really want to get in the weeds,
- 21:06Speaker 2: there's gonna be stuff that's coming during the holiday season
- 21:08Speaker 2: that we're not able to cover that may fall in January.
- 21:11Speaker 2: So who knows what twenty twenty six holds, But if
- 21:15Speaker 2: you have opinions on that coverage, send them our way, girls,
- 21:19Speaker 2: go one Hallmark at gmail dot com.
- 21:23Speaker 1: Another email regarding Chesapeake Shores from Christine, she writes, love
- 21:28Speaker 1: the new mailbag episode this morning and I was thrilled
- 21:30Speaker 1: to hear your reactions to Chesapeake Shores. It was by
- 21:33Speaker 1: far my favorite series on Hallmark until The Way Home started.
- 21:37Speaker 1: Now they're both at the top of my list for
- 21:39Speaker 1: different reasons. Maybe it's because I missed my dad and
- 21:42Speaker 1: now treat Williams too, but Mixed Relationship with his kids
- 21:45Speaker 1: really hit me in the fields. In my opinion, both
- 21:48Speaker 1: shows have some stronger seasons and storylines, and then they
- 21:52Speaker 1: both take some occasional dips too. Consider this my plea.
- 21:56Speaker 1: I'd love to see you review Chesapeake Shores all the
- 21:59Speaker 1: way through at some point in the future when it
- 22:02Speaker 1: fits in the schedule, maybe after all your kids are
- 22:05Speaker 1: in college. That's that is three years from now. Can
- 22:10Speaker 1: you wait that long? I hope you'll keep watching it
- 22:13Speaker 1: when time permits, because it is really a warm hug
- 22:15Speaker 1: that tugs at your heartstrings with stunning scenery. Wow. I
- 22:21Speaker 1: wonder if Christine is a listener of her other stuff,
- 22:24Speaker 1: how does she know our kids are going to college?
- 22:27Speaker 2: Because it's all I can talk about, not on Hallmark,
- 22:31Speaker 2: though maybe I don't know.
- 22:35Speaker 1: I think we've mentioned it. I think we've mentioned our
- 22:38Speaker 1: phase of life. Oh boy, I still had a.
- 22:41Speaker 2: Younger one we got I got three more years. The
- 22:45Speaker 2: nest is out around.
- 22:47Speaker 1: I got one more year. But it's funny to me
- 22:50Speaker 1: and I have to always go back to when we
- 22:53Speaker 1: did this. I mean, we've been doing homework for many
- 22:56Speaker 1: years now, but I remember pitching Chesapeake Shores in the
- 22:59Speaker 1: summer and we asked the fans like our listeners, who
- 23:03Speaker 1: weigh in, and it was like, nah, don't do it.
- 23:06Speaker 1: It is a complete role reversal happening here. I know,
- 23:09Speaker 1: I know. I asked this question on Instagram recently. Do
- 23:12Speaker 1: you recall because you said that I dropped it in
- 23:17Speaker 1: our stories? This story says what's the interest level in
- 23:21Speaker 1: the Chest's pictures recap series? And you know it like
- 23:23Speaker 1: averages it.
- 23:24Speaker 2: So the average answer is like seventy percent.
- 23:27Speaker 1: Okay. When you look at the responses, there's a there's
- 23:32Speaker 1: a ton of all the way to the rights, and
- 23:34Speaker 1: then there's a few absolutely nothing mm hmmm, and then
- 23:39Speaker 1: like a couple like somewhere in the middle. But there
- 23:42Speaker 1: definitely is quite a bit of interest who are like
- 23:45Speaker 1: hard agree fully in favor. I think of a series
- 23:51Speaker 1: of a recap okay, I mean I don't hate it.
- 23:54Speaker 1: I enjoyed the show. It's just a numbers game.
- 23:57Speaker 2: It's just even if we're only recapping, even if we're
- 24:00Speaker 2: only producing ten twelve episodes of the series, we are
- 24:03Speaker 2: still it's still tof.
- 24:04Speaker 1: You have episodes to watch. That's a lot of time. Yeah,
- 24:09Speaker 1: so it's on the list. Consider it on the list. Yes.
- 24:14Speaker 2: Paula emailed she's got thoughts on chessbea Stores, and Love
- 24:17Speaker 2: in the Clouds, and she says, great podcast.
- 24:20Speaker 1: Again.
- 24:20Speaker 2: I watched about fifteen minutes and couldn't go on. She's
- 24:22Speaker 2: talking love in the Clouds there. I thought I'd wait
- 24:24Speaker 2: for your review and see if I should go back
- 24:25Speaker 2: and finish.
- 24:26Speaker 1: No pressure. Thank you for saving me that time.
- 24:30Speaker 2: The storyline about the retired father struck close to home
- 24:33Speaker 2: and could be a good subject for a movie. I'm
- 24:36Speaker 2: involuntarily retired and I hate it. There's just too much
- 24:39Speaker 2: time to fill.
- 24:40Speaker 1: I end up getting into debates with podcasters. Hey, she says.
- 24:45Speaker 2: I used to watch Passions when I was an options
- 24:48Speaker 2: trader on the Philadelphia Stock Exchange. There was a clerk
- 24:50Speaker 2: who had a small TV in her booth that faced
- 24:52Speaker 2: the trading crowd. Great for slow summer days. It was
- 24:55Speaker 2: a weird show. The we're all kinds of supernatural characters,
- 24:58Speaker 2: including a doll that turned into a boy. The bad
- 25:00Speaker 2: guy wore an ascot. That's not why I enjoyed work.
- 25:04Speaker 1: Though, creepy m That's what I remember about Passions is
- 25:09Speaker 1: that weird doll boy. I don't remember that about well.
- 25:12Speaker 1: I wasn't even familiar with that show, but it was
- 25:15Speaker 1: kind of supernatural now kind of I feel like, yeah,
- 25:19Speaker 1: like the commercials were their commercials for it. Sure, that's
- 25:23Speaker 1: the only way I know about it. I didn't watch ith. Yeah,
- 25:28Speaker 1: I have. I have a note to Unlove in the Clouds.
- 25:30Speaker 1: There was a funny comment in our Facebook group that
- 25:35Speaker 1: that said that perhaps we oversold Love in the Clouds,
- 25:38Speaker 1: and I was like, over sold a movie. I gave
- 25:40Speaker 1: one star too. I laughed out loud, I said, hilarious.
- 25:47Speaker 1: It was Facebook member Sandy. It was very funny. That
- 25:51Speaker 1: is funny. And we did get a message saying that
- 25:53Speaker 1: our episode was more enjoyable than the movie. So I
- 25:55Speaker 1: appreciate it. Skip the movie, listen to the podcast review
- 26:02Speaker 1: of it. That's right, Hey, Brenda sent an email talking Hallmark.
- 26:07Speaker 1: Plus she's had some first Impression series comments, so this
- 26:10Speaker 1: one is a soapbox rant. In one of your.
- 26:13Speaker 2: Episodes, you mentioned the awful technical end of the Hallmark
- 26:16Speaker 2: Plus app. I truly do enjoy the tremendous amount of
- 26:19Speaker 2: content to choose from, including older movies and series, and
- 26:23Speaker 2: I like the way it's now organized, but oh dear god,
- 26:26Speaker 2: the navigation issues have exponentially increased the cussin every time
- 26:29Speaker 2: I use it. My Apple TV manages the streamers, and
- 26:33Speaker 2: I forget that the Hallmark app isn't smart enough to
- 26:35Speaker 2: rewind or forward without starting it at the beginning, thus
- 26:40Speaker 2: the curse words flying. Surely, if Netflix, Prime and Hulu
- 26:45Speaker 2: can do it, Hallmark can hire a programmer who can
- 26:47Speaker 2: figure out how to fix the navigation on its app
- 26:51Speaker 2: to pause.
- 26:52Speaker 1: I agree, Brenda, I was gonna say, I so hard agree,
- 26:56Speaker 1: as well as the amount of screaming I did the
- 26:59Speaker 1: other day to get through freaking Kiki's fourth ingredient and
- 27:03Speaker 1: having to like start it over a million times. Oh
- 27:06Speaker 1: my god. Yeah, Michelle listener. Michelle sent us a video.
- 27:10Speaker 1: She's like, I don't know what you guys are talking about.
- 27:11Speaker 1: I can fast forward and rewind, and she sent me
- 27:13Speaker 1: a video of her doing it. Now.
- 27:14Speaker 2: She listens on a Roku, and she was, maybe the
- 27:18Speaker 2: technology works better. The only way I can fast forward
- 27:21Speaker 2: and rewind is if I open the Apple TV remote
- 27:24Speaker 2: on my phone and use like the slider. But we
- 27:28Speaker 2: can't do it any other way.
- 27:29Speaker 1: And the other day my husband was watching a movie
- 27:31Speaker 1: downstairs and he came up and like fired it up
- 27:34Speaker 1: on the upstairs TV and he tried to remind and
- 27:36Speaker 1: it went to the beginning. He's like, forget it. He's like,
- 27:37Speaker 1: it's not even worth it. I'm not gonna finish it. Yeah,
- 27:39Speaker 1: that was so annoying. So, yes, why can't they get
- 27:44Speaker 1: it right? I don't understand. Are you telling me Hallmark
- 27:47Speaker 1: does not have the money to put into the tech
- 27:51Speaker 1: behind their app? Give me a break.
- 27:54Speaker 2: I know, because I really agree with Brenda that I
- 27:56Speaker 2: like so many other things about it, especially like they
- 27:59Speaker 2: finally made this an app that people wanted where it's
- 28:02Speaker 2: like next day content.
- 28:03Speaker 1: They have all their content.
- 28:04Speaker 2: They're like, if you don't have cable and you want Hallmark,
- 28:07Speaker 2: this is the place to go in terms.
- 28:09Speaker 1: Of what they have there. They're adding like syndicated content.
- 28:13Speaker 1: I love it, but it's a pain to you. So
- 28:16Speaker 1: I'm begging. I'm begging Hallmark please be fitting out up.
- 28:20Speaker 1: They don't listen to this, but please fix the freaking
- 28:25Speaker 1: tech side of it. Oh my god.
- 28:28Speaker 2: Brenda goes on to say, regarding your first episode impression
- 28:30Speaker 2: of a series, consider checking out Heartland. You'll never recap
- 28:33Speaker 2: the whole series because they're a zillion episodes over I
- 28:36Speaker 2: think seventeen seasons. It's a series about a ranching family
- 28:40Speaker 2: that rescues rehomes and works with troubled horses. There are
- 28:43Speaker 2: a lot of interesting characters and storylines. I've been watching
- 28:45Speaker 2: it off and on through the years, and start watching
- 28:47Speaker 2: the characters evolve an age, the main character being a
- 28:50Speaker 2: teenager when it started in two thousand and seven, which
- 28:54Speaker 2: is the year my oldest child was born, who will
- 28:57Speaker 2: be an adult this month. So wow, and it's still going.
- 29:00Speaker 2: I would be interested in your impression.
- 29:04Speaker 1: Well, add it to the list. Our goal is to
- 29:06Speaker 1: do all of the series that are on Homework plus
- 29:09Speaker 1: at some point. Is it? That was the plus new
- 29:13Speaker 1: news to me? We were going to do a first
- 29:15Speaker 1: impression of all of them at some point. Okay, all right,
- 29:18Speaker 1: we're doing Sue Thomas FBI. I'm nice, I am not
- 29:23Speaker 1: looking forward to it, but we don't know when the
- 29:27Speaker 1: next round of first impressions will be Yeah, but I
- 29:30Speaker 1: do love this aeria it is it is kind of fun.
- 29:32Speaker 1: It is fun. Yeah. Our next is was a DM
- 29:37Speaker 1: from listener Michelle regarding Audrey Hepburn and Cole Valley. First,
- 29:42Speaker 1: she says the name got changed from Coal Valley to
- 29:45Speaker 1: Hope Valley after a mine accident where most of the
- 29:48Speaker 1: men in the town died. The town didn't want to
- 29:51Speaker 1: be known for coal anymore. Now they had hope to rebuild.
- 29:56Speaker 1: It's nice. It's kind of weird though, right God, I mean, like,
- 29:59Speaker 1: how much like tragedy can you put on this town?
- 30:02Speaker 1: I think it's it's the accident that happens in the
- 30:04Speaker 1: first episode is what she's referring to. Oh interesting, Okay,
- 30:07Speaker 1: and then Michelle asks, Wendy, are you thinking of Audrey
- 30:10Speaker 1: Hepburn and my fair lady Michelle, Yes, That's who I
- 30:14Speaker 1: was thinking of, but it doesn't totally work for the
- 30:18Speaker 1: comparison I was trying to make. Michelle also sent a
- 30:21Speaker 1: voicemail on a completely unrelated note.
- 30:26Speaker 4: Hey, Mega man Wady, I have a question about the
- 30:28Speaker 4: Hallmark content lately.
- 30:31Speaker 1: Do you think with the assistion of all of.
- 30:34Speaker 4: The reality stows and the football movies and the court
- 30:38Speaker 4: things movies.
- 30:39Speaker 1: Do you think Hallmark is trying to reach.
- 30:42Speaker 4: A lighter audience, like Wendy, former Hallmark hater by adding
- 30:47Speaker 4: all of these additional pipe.
- 30:49Speaker 1: Of shows and on the food side of that, do
- 30:53Speaker 1: you feel Hallmark grade you, Lily, It's like a riddin all.
- 30:59Speaker 4: I want Paullwark to gad reality is still good. I
- 31:01Speaker 4: know how the movie's gonna end hardcore homemarking tours that
- 31:06Speaker 4: go to Hamewark for that. I enjoy love the reality
- 31:10Speaker 4: shows that are on here, but that's.
- 31:11Speaker 1: Not what I go to Hallmark for. I was just
- 31:13Speaker 1: curious on your thought, what do you think former Hallmark
- 31:17Speaker 1: hater Wendy, Well, this is funny. Last year when they
- 31:24Speaker 1: rebranded Hallmark Plus, I was like, of course I can
- 31:27Speaker 1: from a business since I see what they're doing. They're
- 31:29Speaker 1: trying to capture a bigger market, right the streamers. But
- 31:34Speaker 1: then that kind of like busted and now they're like, Okay, well,
- 31:39Speaker 1: maybe let's let's make some movies that appeal to other,
- 31:42Speaker 1: like other people than our core Hallmark fans. I don't know.
- 31:46Speaker 1: I kind of think they're just like throwing everything at
- 31:49Speaker 1: the wall. To see like what sticks. Yes, I think
- 31:53Speaker 1: they need a bigger audience, and I think that that's
- 31:57Speaker 1: what they're trying to do to find it.
- 31:58Speaker 2: Yeah, I think absolute the NFL crossover is, in my opinion,
- 32:02Speaker 2: one hundred percent attempt to reach a larger audience. I
- 32:07Speaker 2: think that's what the reality programming is doing. The question
- 32:11Speaker 2: about do you think they're going to lose their hardcore viewers,
- 32:13Speaker 2: My feeling is that as long as they're continuing their
- 32:18Speaker 2: focus on, you know, those Saturday movies that are still
- 32:22Speaker 2: in line with the Hallmark brand so to speak, I
- 32:25Speaker 2: don't think they're going to lose those people. But I
- 32:27Speaker 2: don't think the problem I think they're going to have
- 32:31Speaker 2: is in business, you should have your ideal customer, right,
- 32:35Speaker 2: you should be able to describe who your ideal customer is.
- 32:39Speaker 1: And seems to me that if.
- 32:41Speaker 2: You know who your ideal customer is, all of your
- 32:44Speaker 2: products should serve that person. And at some point if
- 32:49Speaker 2: you have multiple ideal customers, it might become challenging to
- 32:56Speaker 2: focus your content.
- 32:57Speaker 1: Yeah, like they're trying to convert a They're like they're
- 33:01Speaker 1: trying to convert customers to their other programming. I just
- 33:04Speaker 1: don't know if they can do it. I don't know.
- 33:07Speaker 1: Should be interesting. All right. That's a wrap on this
- 33:12Speaker 1: week's Mailbag episode.
- 33:14Speaker 2: Thank you for listening. If you love this podcast, you
- 33:16Speaker 2: know we love your five star ratings and reviews in
- 33:18Speaker 2: the podcast app.
- 33:19Speaker 1: You're listening in. But I'm really am counting those reviews
- 33:23Speaker 1: on Apple podcasts because a set a goal is two hundred.
- 33:26Speaker 1: Can we get there?
- 33:29Speaker 2: We can do it with your help. We'll be back
- 33:31Speaker 2: with more Hallmark reviews next time. Goodbye bye. All right friends,
- 33:47Speaker 2: before we go, just a quick heads up. You're about

- 33:55Speaker 2: with that info what you will, Grab a snack, hit
- 33:58Speaker 2: the skip button, or maybe just maybe listen in and
- 34:01Speaker 2: discover your new favorite product.
- 34:04Speaker 1: Bye as
