- 0:20[SPEAKER_01]: Out.
- 0:25[SPEAKER_00]: Hello, everyone, and welcome to the Adjustworks podcast.
- 0:27[SPEAKER_00]: I'm your host, Ryan, and today's a special episode, as we dive back into
- 0:32[SPEAKER_00]: just working it out.
- 0:33[SPEAKER_00]: That's right.
- 0:34[SPEAKER_00]: I'm bringing it back.
- 0:36[SPEAKER_00]: I know that I probably set up one point.
- 0:37[SPEAKER_00]: I'm just going to title the episodes accordingly.
- 0:40[SPEAKER_00]: But I feel like just working it out was like this amazing subset of episodes to like the main series that had its own little fan base.
- 0:49[SPEAKER_00]: If you're not interested in like you know video games or the movies I'm talking about.
- 0:53[SPEAKER_00]: So I like it.
- 0:55[SPEAKER_00]: It's I think it's better than starting a second podcast.
- 0:58[SPEAKER_00]: I can't even keep up
- 1:01[SPEAKER_00]: So I am so excited to be here today to talk to you guys about life, that good old thing called life, and I've obviously, you know, apologize, you know.
- 1:11[SPEAKER_00]: Refusely about not recording a bunch of episodes catching up because we still talk about so much stuff But today I just wanted to catch up on what I've been up to and and hopefully all of you out there doing great One of the things we will be talking about is trauma on this episode as I experienced something that Definitely Change my mindset while driving so we'll be diving into that today Just time about how busy life has been
- 1:39[SPEAKER_00]: I'm sure for all of you out there, it's all of you out there are probably super busy.
- 1:43[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, I hope everyone's doing well and is in good health with dive into today's episode.
- 1:48[SPEAKER_00]: It is April 23rd.
- 1:51[SPEAKER_00]: So honestly, April has been so beautiful, you know, ending March into April was like kind of hot, like stupid hot,
- 1:58[SPEAKER_00]: or it's like, I'm there ready for this yet.
- 2:00[SPEAKER_00]: And thankfully it's like cool down and it's just as beautiful.
- 2:04[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, absolutely beautiful spring weather as we come into May here in a couple of weeks.
- 2:10[SPEAKER_00]: Actually, we can have excuse me.
- 2:12[SPEAKER_00]: And it's just, it's been so nice.
- 2:15[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, the weather's been nice, can't really complain that beautiful California weather.
- 2:19[SPEAKER_00]: As I mentioned on the last episode, it was Easter for me.
- 2:22[SPEAKER_00]: So I have a survey where bosses come down
- 2:26[SPEAKER_00]: look at my sales reps and their team and my team excuse me in the area I cover and how we're doing in the stores, how business looks and kind of just, you know, seeing how it's going out there, especially with Coachella and stage coach being so prominent and then E-ser being one of the busiest holidays of the year for wine.
- 2:43[SPEAKER_00]: It was a very busy time.
- 2:46[SPEAKER_00]: March went by so fast, because how busy I was, I felt like every day.
- 2:52[SPEAKER_00]: was just non-stop and very tiring.
- 2:55[SPEAKER_00]: I'm still tired right now, trying to catch up on sleep, but I'm really happy with where we ended things and what we're doing now, and I think that's one of the most rewarding parts about my job that I've already mentioned, probably countless times on this podcast.
- 3:10[SPEAKER_00]: There is just something you can, a dopamine hit you can get from this job, but you just simply can't get from the my previous workplaces and I'm so grateful for what I do and the people I get to work with every day.
- 3:21[SPEAKER_00]: Whether it's challenging or too easy, you know, of a day because some days are easier than others.
- 3:28[SPEAKER_00]: uh... it's never a dull moment and i i honestly think that's something alone that i can always be grateful for because i remember what it's like to just look at the clock all the time go one of my clocking out when am i going home and i don't feel that way here and i feel like not a lot of people get to say that so i'm definitely grateful but yeah it's been busy a shit to get back to the point and and you know we got stage coach coming up this weekend
- 3:55[SPEAKER_00]: We survived the two weekends of Coachella.
- 3:59[SPEAKER_00]: Everything's doing really good out there.
- 4:00[SPEAKER_00]: So we guys are doing great.
- 4:03[SPEAKER_00]: They're selling cases.
- 4:04[SPEAKER_00]: That's a super old joke now for the old school fan.
- 4:09[SPEAKER_00]: Shout-out to Alex.
- 4:11[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, so obviously we're some great.
- 4:13[SPEAKER_00]: I'm engaged if anyone forgot.
- 4:17[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, planning a wedding with my fiance, we want to buy a house, doing all the things, adulting, it's so cool, man.
- 4:26[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm really happy to be with her and just absolutely in love with her.
- 4:31[SPEAKER_00]: So just to go through this, with her has been truly nice and beautiful and she's amazing.
- 4:38[SPEAKER_00]: So shout out to her.
- 4:41[SPEAKER_00]: Definitely got to make sure and get that out there because that's obviously a huge part of my life and that is my life.
- 4:46[SPEAKER_00]: She is So yeah, it's been really cool to do that and we'll see how this week and goes.
- 4:52[SPEAKER_00]: I'm really looking forward to it Got a concert coming up this week and as well, me and Eric and Chris are gonna go see August for his red and amity affliction August for his red is Just such a Talented band They all are everyone on the bill Obviously, I'm going for August for his red the most haven't seen them in a while
- 5:11[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm just really, really excited to watch them perform.
- 5:14[SPEAKER_00]: Because I missed, I think all of their performance after shock, I could be wrong on that, maybe a saw song.
- 5:19[SPEAKER_00]: I don't really remember.
- 5:20[SPEAKER_00]: So I'll be cool because we're going to go to my favorite venue and so Cal, so I'm pretty excited about that.
- 5:28[SPEAKER_00]: I didn't get to talk about it too much.
- 5:30[SPEAKER_00]: I only referenced it, but yeah, the Super Mario Galaxy movie came out.
- 5:34[SPEAKER_00]: And honestly, at first, I didn't know how to feel about it because there's so much going on.
- 5:40[SPEAKER_00]: They kind of just throw it in your face and then the movie feels like it's over just as soon as it starts.
- 5:45[SPEAKER_00]: But like seeing clips of, you know, people posting their experiences and obviously certain scenes.
- 5:51[SPEAKER_00]: Like, I love that movie, man.
- 5:54[SPEAKER_00]: I know a lot of people are like, oh, there's no story.
- 5:56[SPEAKER_00]: You know, some of the critics, I'm like, dude, I wasn't.
- 5:59[SPEAKER_00]: I wasn't watching this movie for the story.
- 6:01[SPEAKER_00]: I'm gonna make that very clear.
- 6:02[SPEAKER_00]: I didn't think a super Mario movie was gonna be riveting like fucking,
- 6:06[SPEAKER_00]: Auburnheimer or something or the green mile or just so many other movies I could go on about that so I think if you're watching it for fun If you're a fan of Super Mario or you got kids you can take or in my case as I missed out But I was hoping to go with my niece and FU because we saw the first movie together I think that alone is that's what the movies made for it's not it's not made to reinvent the wheel and
- 6:32[SPEAKER_00]: You know, change lives.
- 6:33[SPEAKER_00]: It's just a, hey, this is what you love and this is why you loved it for these characters and the music, the music is outstanding.
- 6:41[SPEAKER_00]: But like even seeing like the levels and the art style.
- 6:44[SPEAKER_00]: the animation itself is really good and just seeing characters on the screen like Yoshi's my favorite Nintendo character, so obviously besides Charizard, but like Straight Nintendo, it's Yoshi and Fox McCloud, so seeing them both in the movie was just fucking sick.
- 6:59[SPEAKER_00]: I really hope we get a Star Fox movie, so that's honestly my review of the movie, I think it's fun.
- 7:03[SPEAKER_00]: I think it could have been longer and not, I do think it goes by too fast, they're throwing too much in your face, it's where I feel like you can't really appreciate it, I think
- 7:14[SPEAKER_00]: which is better utilized.
- 7:18[SPEAKER_00]: Rosalina's barely utilized.
- 7:19[SPEAKER_00]: It's a movie about her kind of, and her relationship with Peach, which they do establish, and they show it.
- 7:25[SPEAKER_00]: But I think there could have been a little bit more.
- 7:27[SPEAKER_00]: I like that they're diving into like the Peach and Mario romance.
- 7:32[SPEAKER_00]: It's always been cool as a kid.
- 7:33[SPEAKER_00]: Like I always was like, oh, I'm the...
- 7:35[SPEAKER_00]: I'm playing as Mario's saving Peach.
- 7:37[SPEAKER_00]: Like that's his girl, you know, and you know, Nintendo came out.
- 7:40[SPEAKER_00]: I think a few years ago,
- 7:45[SPEAKER_00]: It's just a beautiful story of like saving a princess and saving the day and, you know, as a kid, you're growing up and you want to be that guy who saves the day and saves the princess.
- 7:53[SPEAKER_00]: So, I think it's cool that they kind of leaned into that a little bit with this movie.
- 8:00[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's great.
- 8:00[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's great for audiences and, you know, I think it, I don't know, I don't want to get too crazy into it, but to me it meant a lot as a kid, you know, saving, saving the princess and saving people and helping them out.
- 8:11[SPEAKER_00]: So, I'm glad they're doing that.
- 8:14[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's a great fucking movie.
- 8:16[SPEAKER_00]: I think the whole cast is amazing and I can't wait to watch to get at home.
- 8:19[SPEAKER_00]: I really can't wait.
- 8:20[SPEAKER_00]: I'm excited Geez, let's talk about the trauma, right?
- 8:26[SPEAKER_00]: I should have brought it up before the movie, but I did go see the movie with my With some people from work, and that was really cool Let's talk about the trauma.
- 8:36[SPEAKER_00]: So obviously the festival's there's a lot of people on the road
- 8:40[SPEAKER_00]: A lot of people visiting snowbirds from the north coming down and enjoying the weather before they go back up.
- 8:47[SPEAKER_00]: Port gets too hot out here because it's too cold up there.
- 8:50[SPEAKER_00]: I was on the freeway and it's about two car lengths behind this and I saw it happen in the moment.
- 8:55[SPEAKER_00]: So this isn't like something I pulled up to and it was like, oh my god, I saw the aftermath.
- 9:00[SPEAKER_00]: Like, no, I saw it when it happened, but I was too car lengths behind us in my truck.
- 9:05[SPEAKER_00]: That was clearly trying to avoid something in front of them or just something happened where.
- 9:09[SPEAKER_00]: He wanted to avoid people on our side, but what happened was he veered left into the center divider, completely obliterating it, going into oncoming traffic and hitting another semi truck, a cement truck actually, so it was a cement truck.
- 9:27[SPEAKER_00]: On the other side of oncoming traffic and going head on into each other and immediately killing the cement truck driver, I'm pretty sure the driver that
- 9:35[SPEAKER_00]: and the first that might is not doing good.
- 9:38[SPEAKER_00]: I know someone had to be airlifted, but there's about I think like eight to 12 cars involved on the right hand side I saw a guy in a sports car get out kind of look all disoriented and his blood all over his face.
- 9:48[SPEAKER_00]: Thankfully when I obviously, because I want to get out of the way of everyone and obviously not make more of a problem.
- 9:55[SPEAKER_00]: When I pulled up, there's already a lot of people get another cars and
- 9:59[SPEAKER_00]: By the time I got off the freeway, which was literally only a couple minutes, there was already Syrians because there's a fire station nearby.
- 10:05[SPEAKER_00]: So thank God the response time was it like immediate and, I don't know, I just really sucks and, you know, I was talking to my coworker on the phone about it because I felt like, I had to talk to someone about it and I, I was telling him that I felt nothing.
- 10:23[SPEAKER_00]: I felt nothing in the moment.
- 10:24[SPEAKER_00]: I didn't know what to think and he's like, it's like, yeah man, I'm pretty sure you're
- 10:28[SPEAKER_00]: in shock and I was like, you know what, probably because it was just really devastating to see how fast it can, you know, something that look like we weren't going, I think even that much faster than the speed limit, which in the desert, we're always going faster than speed limit.
- 10:42[SPEAKER_00]: So like this one time, or actually kind of going the, you know, like a good speed, like it's not even aggressive, or the speed limit 70 and I think we were all going 70.
- 10:51[SPEAKER_00]: I think in the moment I was like at 68, because we're slowing down.
- 10:56[SPEAKER_00]: It's just, it's usually so much faster in chaotic than that, but seeing the accident itself and how fast it can take place, how fast the semis can catch on fire and melt the cab, loss of life, I don't know man, like to only be too carlinks behind that, and it could have been me involved, it definitely kind of weighed heavy on me that whole day.
- 11:16[SPEAKER_00]: Honestly, it's like one PM and then my sales rep made a joke about something and kind of was able to take my mind off of it for once.
- 11:26[SPEAKER_00]: yeah man i don't know just drive safe out there guys like get off your phone if you can just be alert drive defensively um i'm so grateful like in that moment that i was just completely alert and paying attention and watching the cars behind me is i'm slowing down so no one hits me and you know obviously all of us make it worse for everyone involved so i don't know it's it was really tragic and it was crazy to see you know the videos you see online you would think
- 11:56[SPEAKER_00]: give you an idea of what you can expect if it happens unfortunately around you or fortunately at all you don't want to see a loss of life or injuries at all but when you see it in person it's it's completely different and it's gnarly so yeah I think kind of dealing with that it happened two weeks ago I believe and every time in the car I do I won't lie I do kind of feel like on edge a little bit but I just try to like I said just
- 12:24[SPEAKER_00]: don't do anything stupid and that's really all I can do but yeah just something crazy I wanted to talk about because I feel like so many people out there have experienced something similar or something traumatic in their lives and it's been a long time I guess for me like a true trauma and yeah it's very unfortunate because it brought me back to the day that my co-worker
- 12:47[SPEAKER_00]: got injured in front of me and basically when brain dead and there was just blood everywhere and I remember someone called 911 and I was just kind of over there, you know, sitting with him while the paramedics were on their way and I just remember seeing people getting out to just record it like not even see how he's doing.
- 13:04[SPEAKER_00]: to just take videos of the incident.
- 13:07[SPEAKER_00]: And that was like right when I was going to a training for first responder, I was already a first responder, but I was going for EMS training.
- 13:13[SPEAKER_00]: And I'll never forget, like someone was saying, like, you know, when you either can't handle blood, which I don't mind, it's not great, but I don't mind, or you need to see someone you know get hurt.
- 13:23[SPEAKER_00]: And this was a guy, like, you know.
- 13:25[SPEAKER_00]: I couldn't even tell you his name today, but he was new to my job and we were very friendly to each other and it was his birthday that day and I don't know a fucking sucked, so yeah this experience brought me back to that.
- 13:42[SPEAKER_00]: I was very unfortunate and devastating and all of it sucks, so yeah, if you've experienced trauma out there, I understand trauma now, because like I said, it's been so long, I didn't even realize what was happening to me, but, you know, like throughout the day, like I said, to like one PM, I couldn't.
- 14:00[SPEAKER_00]: I couldn't think straight, I don't know, I felt like throwing up, I felt sick, and it was crazy.
- 14:07[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, I wanted to come on and catch up with everyone, I'm not going to end it at that, but I felt like getting it out there in case someone else is unfortunately experienced something similar, knows that they're not alone because, you know, shit happens, right?
- 14:23[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, but up to that, go to Universal here soon for Fan Fest nights to kind of change
- 14:31[SPEAKER_00]: Um, I'm really looking forward to that because they're doing some dress-up park stuff.
- 14:34[SPEAKER_00]: They're doing Harry Potter stuff.
- 14:37[SPEAKER_00]: Scooby-Doo.
- 14:38[SPEAKER_00]: It just, it just looks cool.
- 14:40[SPEAKER_00]: I should have went last year for back to the future.
- 14:41[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know why I didn't, but We went to horror nights for, I went to horror nights for the first time ever last year.
- 14:50[SPEAKER_00]: And man, it was an amazing experience.
- 14:52[SPEAKER_00]: I had the best time.
- 14:53[SPEAKER_00]: Shout out to my fiance and then Joseph that was just so fucking cool and Going to fan fest nights.
- 14:59[SPEAKER_00]: I think it would be really sweet.
- 15:00[SPEAKER_00]: It was just her birthday recently So we want to kind of continue this celebration and go somewhere have fun I'm really looking forward to just you know trying out some food maybe buying some merch getting some cool photos and just having a really nice night together So that'll be pretty sweet and I'm looking forward to it
- 15:20[SPEAKER_00]: I feel like there was something else I wanted to talk about on here, but you know, we'll just do kind of a we'll just round out some of the video game stuff coming up Come on in to talk about fallout 76 and kind of it.
- 15:31[SPEAKER_00]: That's as a whole and like what's going on with eligible six star field on this potentially come to switch to That's gonna be the big episode is where it's fallout for and Skyrim switch to
- 15:42[SPEAKER_00]: So I have this switch to additions of both of those games.
- 15:45[SPEAKER_00]: I've put about 15 to 20 hours into each of them I would definitely want to talk about the performance and how the games feel if you know fall out for is not like my favorite fallout I do think far harbors one of the best expansions, but and I I beat it recently.
- 16:02[SPEAKER_00]: It'd be the whole main quest for far harbor
- 16:05[SPEAKER_00]: So I wanted to hop on and talk about that.
- 16:07[SPEAKER_00]: I've been fascinated with the Switch 2 lately.
- 16:08[SPEAKER_00]: I think I touched on this with the Polka Pia episode.
- 16:11[SPEAKER_00]: Just recently, bought the Alien Crisis team or one of the games called, I guess it was a VR game that they've launched on consoles.
- 16:18[SPEAKER_00]: And I really like this VR quick time event, but also full video game feel experience.
- 16:25[SPEAKER_00]: because it's a FPS, it's the first person shooter, but it has these VR aspects that are part of it because they want you to feel involved on your whole, only the motion controls.
- 16:36[SPEAKER_00]: And I think it's pretty badass at 1999.
- 16:38[SPEAKER_00]: I honestly couldn't be happy with my purchase.
- 16:41[SPEAKER_00]: The game's kind of scary as shit.
- 16:43[SPEAKER_00]: So, I've been having a lot of fun with that to be honest.
- 16:47[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm really excited to talk about it.
- 16:49[SPEAKER_00]: We also got Pokemon fire and leaf green.
- 16:52[SPEAKER_00]: The finale kind of touched on that.
- 16:54[SPEAKER_00]: I still need to play the games more.
- 16:56[SPEAKER_00]: I've played Pokemon XDGell Adarkness on the...
- 16:59[SPEAKER_00]: Nintendo Switch online, which I've been begging for forever, so waiting for call a CM because that's personally my favorite of the two, but I'm having a really good time with the game.
- 17:08[SPEAKER_00]: It runs great.
- 17:09[SPEAKER_00]: It looks fucking awesome on handheld.
- 17:12[SPEAKER_00]: There's just something about like the switch to right now.
- 17:14[SPEAKER_00]: I cannot recommend enough.
- 17:16[SPEAKER_00]: We got Yoshi, Yoshi's Islander, whatever Yoshi in the mysterious book coming out May 21st.
- 17:21[SPEAKER_00]: The previews came out for the game the other day, are yesterday and the game looks fucking outstanding and some of the previewers are even mentioning Super Mario 64 with it.
- 17:29[SPEAKER_00]: And I just think something like that is one of the best recommendations you can possibly make.
- 17:34[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, Super Mario 64 is a timeless game.
- 17:38[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so there's a bunch of episodes coming out.
- 17:40[SPEAKER_00]: Halo, for sure, definitely got some Halo stuff coming up.
- 17:44[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, please stay tuned.
- 17:45[SPEAKER_00]: If there's anything at all you want me to talk about, or you haven't heard me catch up on, please let me know.
- 17:50[SPEAKER_00]: I appreciate all of you out there.
- 17:52[SPEAKER_00]: So much, please be safe, be healthy.
- 17:56[SPEAKER_00]: You're the best.
- 17:57[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you for stopping by.
- 17:58[SPEAKER_00]: Have a wonderful day.
- 18:00[SPEAKER_00]: I'll see you on the next episode.
- 18:02[SPEAKER_00]: Peace.
