Latest / The Mark Simone Show / Hour 2: Daylight saving time year-round?
Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Always a step ahead of the news.
- 0:02Speaker 2: Here's more marks amone on seven to ten wor.
- 0:08Speaker 1: Well, lots of stuff developing here. It looks like Howard
- 0:14Speaker 1: Stern is winding it down, the final chapter the Howard
- 0:17Speaker 1: Stern Show. You know, I'm serious, for many many, many
- 0:21Speaker 1: many years, huge contract, one hundred million a year. Well
- 0:25Speaker 1: that's when he first went over there. It was one
- 0:27Speaker 1: hundred million a year for five years, five hundred million
- 0:30Speaker 1: dollar contract. And then through the years, you know, the
- 0:36Speaker 1: audience has been getting smaller, and then Howard Stern goes
- 0:40Speaker 1: completely nuts a few years ago, becomes this woke left
- 0:43Speaker 1: wing sort of a guy, alienating a lot of his audience,
- 0:47Speaker 1: a lot of his audience. So he went from Trump
- 0:52Speaker 1: lover Trump, friend at Trump's wedding, Trump at his wedding,
- 0:59Speaker 1: that of stuff, to the worst Trump bashing. Now there's
- 1:05Speaker 1: a lot of theories on how that happened. A lot
- 1:07Speaker 1: of people think that there's a lot of resentment because
- 1:15Speaker 1: Trump kind of stole Howard Stern's act. He didn't really
- 1:18Speaker 1: steal it. He's just the same kind of guys that
- 1:21Speaker 1: grew up the same kind of way, so they have
- 1:23Speaker 1: the same personality. But if you can't understand Trump, like,
- 1:27Speaker 1: I love when he does it, but why does he
- 1:29Speaker 1: have to say these things? Why does he have to
- 1:32Speaker 1: do that? Well, he's Howard Stern, He's basically Howard Stern,
- 1:34Speaker 1: and he's stolen Stern's act and become more famous at
- 1:39Speaker 1: doing that act than Howard Stern has. I think a
- 1:41Speaker 1: lot of the resentment comes from that, because I remember
- 1:46Speaker 1: Howard Stern king of all media, and then Trump became
- 1:49Speaker 1: king of all media, and he does what Stern does,
- 1:52Speaker 1: you know, brilliant, and then every so often says something
- 1:55Speaker 1: absolutely outrageous that you can't believe anybody would say. So
- 1:58Speaker 1: I think that's part of the sudden Trump hatred. Now,
- 2:02Speaker 1: Stern one hundred million a year, but then you know
- 2:06Speaker 1: it became eighty million a year, and then became sixty,
- 2:08Speaker 1: and then it became forty, and then it maybe it
- 2:11Speaker 1: became twenty million year. Well, in exchange for big pay cuts,
- 2:15Speaker 1: he would just do less. He went to three days
- 2:17Speaker 1: a week instead of five days a week, and then
- 2:20Speaker 1: he went to forty weeks a year instead of fifty two.
- 2:24Speaker 1: Then it went to like twenty five weeks a year
- 2:27Speaker 1: instead of fifty two. So the audiences really, really, really
- 2:32Speaker 1: really dwindled on the Howard Stern Show, so they can't
- 2:34Speaker 1: pay him that kind of money anymore. So with this
- 2:37Speaker 1: latest contract, it's a huge, huge pay cut. It's way
- 2:42Speaker 1: down from what it was. So in exchange, he will
- 2:46Speaker 1: only do one day a week, just one day a week. Now.
- 2:51Speaker 1: Part of the last pay cut is we take the
- 2:54Speaker 1: whole summer off, three months off. But this contract, it
- 3:00Speaker 1: starts at labor Day, will be one day a week.
- 3:04Speaker 1: That's it, just one day a week now. Because of
- 3:06Speaker 1: the big, huge pay cuts, they have to cut staff.
- 3:11Speaker 1: Because Howard Stern pays the staff out of his own pocket.
- 3:15Speaker 1: So yeah, it'll begin labor Day. They had a Zoom
- 3:17Speaker 1: meeting yesterday where they laid off a lot of the staff,
- 3:20Speaker 1: actually fired a lot of the staff. They all got
- 3:23Speaker 1: good severance packages and all that, depending on how long
- 3:27Speaker 1: they were with the company. Some were bigger than others.
- 3:30Speaker 1: But they let a lot of people go, a lot
- 3:32Speaker 1: of staff, a lot of producers, a lot of people
- 3:35Speaker 1: on the show. They'll keep it, says the core team
- 3:37Speaker 1: of veteran producers. I assume that means Fred Gary that
- 3:41Speaker 1: sort of stuff, but really really scaling back one day
- 3:45Speaker 1: a week. His wife Beth in an interview, said, I
- 3:48Speaker 1: think it's good for him to continue. He enjoys doing it,
- 3:53Speaker 1: he's very good at it. I think it keeps him
- 3:55Speaker 1: connected to an outlet the share his thoughts, which is
- 3:59Speaker 1: great when they're those Trump bashing thoughts. But now the
- 4:04Speaker 1: channel will continue. They'll still be a Howard Stern channel,
- 4:07Speaker 1: but most of the time, most days of the week,
- 4:10Speaker 1: in fact, just about all the time, it'll be reruns.
- 4:13Speaker 1: It'll be archives, and there's a lot of Stern archives,
- 4:19Speaker 1: and for some people normally, well just reruns I don't
- 4:21Speaker 1: want to hear. Well, in this case, it's actually better
- 4:24Speaker 1: because it's the old Howard Stern, the good Howard Stern,
- 4:28Speaker 1: not the new woke, left wing woke Howard Stern. It's
- 4:31Speaker 1: the old Howard Stern. So this may work out better
- 4:34Speaker 1: for the audience, but I don't know how you can
- 4:36Speaker 1: do that. So it's it's one day a week. It's
- 4:42Speaker 1: sort of the last chapter. Everybody kind of knows that
- 4:45Speaker 1: the next contract it'll become something else he'll switch to.
- 4:50Speaker 1: Actually he should switch to him, you know, once a
- 4:51Speaker 1: week at Joe Rogan type podcast thing. But for now
- 4:55Speaker 1: we'll just hobble along and finish this off. Hey, the
- 4:58Speaker 1: other woke left wing kook, Jimmy Kimmel, there's another one
- 5:03Speaker 1: that's taken the whole summer off. I've never heard of
- 5:05Speaker 1: that on a late night talk show. Take the entire
- 5:08Speaker 1: summer off. I'll take a few months off. I think
- 5:10Speaker 1: he's got some medical concerns. I notice he's been taking
- 5:16Speaker 1: care of some medicals, so maybe that's one reason to
- 5:19Speaker 1: take all that time off. But he's had these guest hos,
- 5:24Speaker 1: really awful guest host and one of them, Ike Barenholtz.
- 5:31Speaker 1: He's the guest hose he's filling and starts joking about
- 5:33Speaker 1: Lindsey Graham's death. Also made fun of Mitch McConnell's health scare.
- 5:38Speaker 1: I hope he gets the same healthcare he's fought so
- 5:41Speaker 1: hard to deny everyone else. But again, jokes about Lindsey
- 5:46Speaker 1: Graham's death. And he even said in the middle of
- 5:49Speaker 1: all these jokes, well, I guess we're going to get
- 5:51Speaker 1: the show pulled off the air again. But that's what
- 5:54Speaker 1: Kimmel has turned into. Fallon. Still the most normal of
- 5:59Speaker 1: these guys, but can't help. You got to lean way
- 6:02Speaker 1: to the left, You got to get into the Trump
- 6:04Speaker 1: bashing if you want to last. The replacement for Colbert's
- 6:08Speaker 1: not doing so well. It's that Byron Allen comics Unleashed.
- 6:12Speaker 1: Problem is it's a very low budget, low production kind
- 6:15Speaker 1: of a show. But they're doing about seven hundred thousand
- 6:18Speaker 1: viewers a night. It's not great. But again Fallin, I
- 6:22Speaker 1: mean Colbert didn't do that well either. He was like
- 6:26Speaker 1: one point two to one point three million. Hey, what
- 6:29Speaker 1: do you think of this daylight saving time year round?
- 6:31Speaker 1: I'm all for it. So the House passed it. The
- 6:36Speaker 1: US House Representatives passed it's called the Sunshine Protection Act,
- 6:40Speaker 1: which would make daylight saving time permanent. It would just
- 6:44Speaker 1: be year round. The US House of Representatives passed. It
- 6:48Speaker 1: has to go on to the Senate. The President is
- 6:50Speaker 1: for it. It would make a daylight saving time permanent.
- 6:54Speaker 1: That means, for instance, in New York, the earliest you
- 6:58Speaker 1: would ever get dark would be fun which is pretty good,
- 7:02Speaker 1: instead of four point thirty. Now at the same time,
- 7:06Speaker 1: it would be dark until eight twenty in the morning
- 7:09Speaker 1: instead of seven to twenty. But I don't mind. I'm
- 7:11Speaker 1: not up at eight twenty in the morning. It's fine
- 7:13Speaker 1: with me. Now certain states have to go along with it.
- 7:18Speaker 1: They don't have to follow it, but eighteen states have
- 7:22Speaker 1: already passed bill saying they will do it. They'll do
- 7:25Speaker 1: permanent daylight saving time. Kathy Hochel has said she's not sure.
- 7:30Speaker 1: She's got to look at it, which means she's got
- 7:34Speaker 1: a poleet. She's got to see who it's going to
- 7:35Speaker 1: help her more. But I think you'll see it eventually.
- 7:41Speaker 1: The Egene Carol case, now this was a terrible, terrible injustice,
- 7:45Speaker 1: this whole thing. There's nobody in their right mind that
- 7:47Speaker 1: believes this woman. Nobody believes this Egen Carol, this crazy
- 7:53Speaker 1: story about Trump in the dressing room at Bergdorff, the
- 7:56Speaker 1: women's story. You talk to everybody who worked in the
- 7:58Speaker 1: women's store back then, Donald Trump never set foot in
- 8:01Speaker 1: that store, according to them. And if you talk to
- 8:04Speaker 1: Bergdraft management, he did go to the men's store twice,
- 8:08Speaker 1: but it's their policy whenever anybody that noted walks in,
- 8:12Speaker 1: a manager accompanies them, a salesperson stays with them at
- 8:16Speaker 1: all times. So nobody believes this Egen Carroll's story. But
- 8:19Speaker 1: she got it in front of a crazy Trump hating
- 8:22Speaker 1: New York jury and they couldn't vote guilty fast enough
- 8:27Speaker 1: so she won her case civil case, and she was
- 8:30Speaker 1: asking I think for eleven million dollars. The jury decided
- 8:36Speaker 1: to give her eighty three million, which is ludicrous, preposterous.
- 8:40Speaker 1: Nobody in the history of the court has ever seen
- 8:42Speaker 1: a jury go that crazy and whatever the person was
- 8:46Speaker 1: asking for, give them eight times as much. Nobody's ever
- 8:49Speaker 1: seen that. So it's absolutely ridiculous. Trump did not know
- 8:53Speaker 1: Egen Carroll.
- 8:53Speaker 3: I know.
- 8:54Speaker 1: I heard on the news somebody said he denied knowing her.
- 8:57Speaker 1: But pictures prove otherwise. No, that's not true, true at all.
- 9:01Speaker 1: She has a picture where she's in a Trump is
- 9:05Speaker 1: at a movie premiere and there's a rope line and
- 9:07Speaker 1: he's shaking hands with people, taking pictures with them in
- 9:10Speaker 1: the line. Doesn't mean you know them. I mean, there's
- 9:13Speaker 1: plenty of people, celebrities who you can meet somewhere. Can
- 9:17Speaker 1: I get a picture? Sure, you take a picture. It
- 9:19Speaker 1: doesn't mean you know them. You saw him for thirteen
- 9:22Speaker 1: seconds and you never saw him again. That doesn't mean
- 9:25Speaker 1: you know them. He didn't know He didn't really even
- 9:28Speaker 1: know her husband, but he liked her husband. Her husband
- 9:29Speaker 1: was the great newscaster John Johnson, really good guy, but
- 9:35Speaker 1: he was married to this wacko I don't really know.
- 9:38Speaker 1: I've been with her a few times. Egene Carol a
- 9:40Speaker 1: real wacky, wacko type. So there was also a five
- 9:46Speaker 1: point six million dollar penalty that she was awarded and
- 9:50Speaker 1: Trump had to put that in escro it's been held
- 9:52Speaker 1: in escrow. Well, it was finally released to her because
- 9:55Speaker 1: he appealed that whole thing to the Supreme Court and
- 9:59Speaker 1: the Supreme Court. He peeled it all the way up
- 10:01Speaker 1: to the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court refused to hear
- 10:05Speaker 1: Trump on the case, so that finished that. So the
- 10:09Speaker 1: five point six million was a release to her yesterday.
- 10:12Speaker 1: Now what about that eighty three million, Well, he's got
- 10:15Speaker 1: to keep trying to get that to the Supreme Court.
- 10:17Speaker 1: And the fact that they turned down the other case
- 10:19Speaker 1: doesn't make it look good for this. So she could
- 10:21Speaker 1: end up with that money. It's very possible. It's a
- 10:25Speaker 1: wacko lawsuit. She was financed by that billionaire reed Hoffman
- 10:29Speaker 1: who was out to get Trump, so he financed the case,
- 10:31Speaker 1: got her all the best lawyers. Again, you'd done this
- 10:35Speaker 1: case anywhere else, she would never have won. She couldn't
- 10:39Speaker 1: tell you what year this was. She couldn't tell you anything. Also,
- 10:42Speaker 1: this story she told was the plot of a Law
- 10:45Speaker 1: and Order episode, so very suspicious case. But she got
- 10:50Speaker 1: it in front of a crazy New York jury and
- 10:54Speaker 1: that's how she went. Now, what about that eighty three
- 10:56Speaker 1: million Well, Trump actually posted a ninety one million dollar
- 10:59Speaker 1: bond guaranteed by Chubb. That's his insurance company. Now they
- 11:04Speaker 1: may have to pay part of this judgment too, they're
- 11:06Speaker 1: the insurance company insuring them. So legionnaire's disease, well, it's
- 11:13Speaker 1: something to be concerned about. All over the Upper east Side.
- 11:17Speaker 1: Turned up even at the Guggenheim Museum, and yesterday it
- 11:19Speaker 1: turned up at the met the Metropolitan Museum. Legionnaire's disease
- 11:24Speaker 1: in the water cooler, the cooling tower. It's being cleaned out.
- 11:28Speaker 1: They think everybody's safe in the museum. They've now inspected
- 11:33Speaker 1: fifty two cooling towers on the Upper east Side. That's
- 11:36Speaker 1: not a lot for a week. I mean you should
- 11:38Speaker 1: be doing thirty a day. Of these, fifty two have
- 11:41Speaker 1: been inspected. Two cases have turned up on the Upper
- 11:44Speaker 1: west Side. It's got a lot of people frightened. Those
- 11:48Speaker 1: horse and carriages in Central Park City Council hearings today
- 11:53Speaker 1: to get rid of them. A lot of people pushing
- 11:54Speaker 1: to get rid of the horse and carriages. I don't know. Definitely,
- 12:00Speaker 1: definitely keep them off the streets, just strictly in the park.
- 12:03Speaker 1: Nowhere but the park. They should never be out in
- 12:04Speaker 1: the regular streets, totally screwing up traffic. And I think
- 12:09Speaker 1: the first thing we got to do is get rid
- 12:11Speaker 1: of those petty cabs. Those are the most awful things
- 12:14Speaker 1: clogging up the streets. They're all over the streets blocking traffic.
- 12:17Speaker 1: Get rid of the petty cabs first, and then the
- 12:21Speaker 1: horses and carriages. Hey, Warren Buffett, you know put money
- 12:28Speaker 1: into the Gates Foundation, a lot of money, like I
- 12:30Speaker 1: like eighty billion dollars. In fact, he decided that for
- 12:37Speaker 1: all of his philanthropy, all of his charity, he would
- 12:40Speaker 1: just give it all to the Gates Foundation. He said
- 12:42Speaker 1: years ago that he trusted them to know who to
- 12:46Speaker 1: give it to, and he said that's usually what he does.
- 12:49Speaker 1: He finds the smartest experts and lets them do the stuff.
- 12:53Speaker 1: So for charity work, he was going to give it
- 12:55Speaker 1: all the Gates Foundation, many many, many, many billions. Well
- 13:02Speaker 1: he's decided not to do that. He's changed his thinking
- 13:06Speaker 1: on that, not going to go to the Gates Foundation,
- 13:08Speaker 1: going to put it elsewhere, and all of that because
- 13:11Speaker 1: of Epstein. Gates tangled up with Epstein. Gates had that
- 13:15Speaker 1: whole story. But why I went there for a meeting
- 13:18Speaker 1: about a charity donation, Well turned out he went there
- 13:20Speaker 1: a lot and when he was there, he was there
- 13:22Speaker 1: for eight hours and he was there till midnight, and
- 13:25Speaker 1: that's not a charity meeting. So Buffett, even though he's
- 13:28Speaker 1: been friends with Gates for years, although that friendship may
- 13:32Speaker 1: have been exaggerated a lot, has decided, after reading all
- 13:37Speaker 1: this stuff about Bill Gates and Epstein, to put his
- 13:41Speaker 1: money elsewhere. It's that thing called the It's an irrevocable
- 13:45Speaker 1: pledge to donate his shares, but those irrevocable giving play.
- 13:50Speaker 1: You can revoke him if you need to. Buffett informed
- 13:55Speaker 1: Gates the other day, and then he said he had
- 13:58Speaker 1: a brief talk with Gates, and he said he understood,
- 14:02Speaker 1: but he wants to talk again further, so they'll have
- 14:04Speaker 1: another conversation. And it's interesting, he said in that interview,
- 14:10Speaker 1: whenever we talk, he's the one that initiates the call.
- 14:13Speaker 1: So he's basically admitting he's never called Bill Gates in
- 14:16Speaker 1: his life. It's always Gates calling him. So we'll see
- 14:19Speaker 1: if Gates can salvage this. Hey, JP Morgan, JP Morgan
- 14:24Speaker 1: Chase greatest bank in the world, run by probably the
- 14:27Speaker 1: greatest CEO in America, Jamie Diamond. Just set a record
- 14:31Speaker 1: biggest profit ever for a US bank last quarter, all
- 14:34Speaker 1: time record profit. Now most of that was SpaceX because
- 14:38Speaker 1: they were involved in the SpaceX ipo, so a lot
- 14:41Speaker 1: of that came from that. And we talked to Steve
- 14:43Speaker 1: Forbes earlier. He wrote the book Inflation, and we just
- 14:47Speaker 1: had this great inflation report. It dropped and it was
- 14:51Speaker 1: actually the biggest drop in six years. Falling energy prices helped,
- 14:56Speaker 1: so great news. Hey, we'll take some calls next. Eight
- 14:59Speaker 1: hundred three two one zero seven ten is the number.
- 15:03Speaker 1: Eight hundred three two one zero seven tens.
- 15:07Speaker 3: Here's more, Mark Simone on Sevenden Wry.
- 15:14Speaker 1: Let's say some calls. Eight hundred three two one zero
- 15:19Speaker 1: seven ten is the number. Let's go to Frank in Arizona.
- 15:22Speaker 4: Frank, how you doing, Oh, Mark, Mark, we have the
- 15:25Speaker 4: same thing out here. You've got New York. We have
- 15:27Speaker 4: a place called the Zone it's just blocks and blocks
- 15:31Speaker 4: of blue tarp and it's homeless everywhere. And the sad
- 15:34Speaker 4: thing is the dog is they have to give the
- 15:37Speaker 4: dogs these little pants otherwise they burn their feet when
- 15:39Speaker 4: they walk down the street because the street's so hot,
- 15:42Speaker 4: and they're doing nothing to get rid of them. They're
- 15:44Speaker 4: just homeless people everywhere.
- 15:45Speaker 1: And where are you in Arizona?
- 15:48Speaker 4: Phoenix?
- 15:49Speaker 1: Phoenix, Phoenix has a big homeless problem. That's gonna be
- 15:52Speaker 1: the one.
- 15:52Speaker 4: Oh god, Yeah, they're everywhere. They're at every stoplight. It's
- 15:56Speaker 4: like New York when before Giuliani got in. You know,
- 15:59Speaker 4: they're looking for more. Need a squeege in your windows?
- 16:02Speaker 1: The worst place, the worst place to be homeless, like
- 16:05Speaker 1: one hundred and twenty degrees outside in Phoenix right now.
- 16:08Speaker 4: I don't know how to do it, man. I tell
- 16:09Speaker 4: them all the time when you go get a job,
- 16:11Speaker 4: you'd be working in sidewards a condition. But they don't
- 16:13Speaker 4: want to work.
- 16:14Speaker 1: Yeah, all right, well thanks for calling. It's everywhere. We'll
- 16:17Speaker 1: get to a shantytown, uh, the Mondanie shantytown in a
- 16:22Speaker 1: few minutes. Let's go to Steven old Beth Page. Steve,
- 16:25Speaker 1: how you doing.
- 16:27Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm Mark.
- 16:28Speaker 4: I just want to say the best pizza in New York,
- 16:31Speaker 4: and my opinion is Spaloni Gardens. It's ll and b
- 16:34Speaker 4: on eighty six Steens.
- 16:35Speaker 1: It's good, it's good.
- 16:36Speaker 4: It's not you get a chance to get a chance,
- 16:40Speaker 4: s Vincent about it.
- 16:43Speaker 1: It's not the best. It's a it's a landmark place.
- 16:46Speaker 1: It's not the best. Defara is better. John zap Bleaker
- 16:49Speaker 1: is better. There's a lot, there's better people.
- 16:51Speaker 4: You talk.
- 16:52Speaker 5: You talk about waiting online when you go to It
- 16:55Speaker 5: doesn't matter if it's summer or winter, you're gonna wait online.
- 16:58Speaker 3: It's really it's really great pizza.
- 17:00Speaker 6: I've had all.
- 17:02Speaker 1: It's not the best, but it's great. It's great, and
- 17:05Speaker 1: it's all right.
- 17:05Speaker 4: But you asked to what happened to the owner when
- 17:08Speaker 4: he wouldn't give up the recipe? They killed him.
- 17:11Speaker 1: I'm sure, Vincent, I know that's Stroye. I know that's
- 17:14Speaker 1: ste Yes. Pimoni Gardens, the landmark in Brooklyn, legendary place.
- 17:18Speaker 1: Very good pizza. Not the best. There's If you watch
- 17:21Speaker 1: Dave Portnoy, you've seen all the best. There's about ten
- 17:25Speaker 1: that are in the like the best of New York again.
- 17:31Speaker 1: Barstool Pizza one bite, Dave Portnoy, you can see where
- 17:35Speaker 1: the best are. Let's go to Mike in Parsipity. Mike,
- 17:39Speaker 1: how you doing, Hiley, Mark?
- 17:42Speaker 3: A couple of days ago, you were talking about how
- 17:45Speaker 3: Dairy Queen's were closing up in Alaska. Yeah, and it
- 17:48Speaker 3: reminded me of a cartoons where the guys in Valley Forge,
- 17:54Speaker 3: the troops in Valley Forge were freezing to death and
- 17:57Speaker 3: along comes an ice cream truck and they shout it up.
- 18:00Speaker 3: Do you remember that one?
- 18:01Speaker 1: No? Oh had some weird calls this time. Now. I
- 18:08Speaker 1: never understood how Dairy queen could even open in Alaska.
- 18:11Speaker 1: You're in the middle of an igloo and an iceberg,
- 18:13Speaker 1: and it's there's an avalanche. Who even thinks of ice cream?
- 18:16Speaker 1: It'd be like selling hot chocolate in the middle of
- 18:18Speaker 1: the desert in Arizona. Let's go to h Josh and
- 18:21Speaker 1: New Orschelle Josh. How you doing?
- 18:24Speaker 5: Oh, I'm Mark.
- 18:25Speaker 2: There's a million good pizza places in New York City.
- 18:28Speaker 2: You would invite a hundred million illegals and der wills
- 18:32Speaker 2: to America. You have a third world country. Forget it,
- 18:34Speaker 2: it's Solva.
- 18:35Speaker 1: Yeah. Well, let's go to uh Walter in Massachusetts, Walter,
- 18:38Speaker 1: how you doing.
- 18:39Speaker 3: Yeah, good day, Mark. I never seek your comment on
- 18:44Speaker 3: whenever they mentioned boots on the ground and Iran to
- 18:47Speaker 3: really put this sport to an end, they always say
- 18:49Speaker 3: the US troops. I never heard any really discussion on
- 18:52Speaker 3: why are they only considering US troops when Iran or
- 18:56Speaker 3: UAE or all the other countries that want to put
- 18:58Speaker 3: this regime to an end.
- 19:00Speaker 1: Well, you bring up a good point. It's very good
- 19:01Speaker 1: point when they say boots on the ground. I have
- 19:03Speaker 1: a feeling that Israel has probably the best troops in
- 19:06Speaker 1: the world for this particular mission. I have a feeling
- 19:10Speaker 1: nobody would be better on the ground in Iran cleaning
- 19:13Speaker 1: up things and knowing how to find the IRGC than Israel.
- 19:18Speaker 1: So boots on the ground might be a good idea,
- 19:21Speaker 1: but Israeli troops, because again there's nobody more knowledgeable, more
- 19:27Speaker 1: skilled in that part of the world than Israeli soldier spent.
- 19:33Speaker 1: You could do it like you know, the Cuban missile
- 19:35Speaker 1: crisis or actually a bay of pigs. The real plan
- 19:39Speaker 1: was boots on the ground and then our air power
- 19:42Speaker 1: to back them up and protect them. That might be
- 19:45Speaker 1: the perfect thing. Let's go to Rob in Franklin Square, Rob,
- 19:48Speaker 1: how are you doing.
- 19:49Speaker 6: Hi?
- 19:49Speaker 5: Good morning, Mark, Congratulations on a Barreck Media Award. Thanks
- 19:53Speaker 5: ladially Mark on a Johnny Carson Show. When Sketch had
- 19:57Speaker 5: Henderson left, didn't mildon the Lug replace him before Dox
- 20:03Speaker 5: severage and took over.
- 20:04Speaker 1: Yes, there's only three people in the world that could
- 20:06Speaker 1: possibly know what we're talking about.
- 20:07Speaker 5: But yeah, and Sketch, what do you called? Doc is
- 20:13Speaker 5: going to be ninety nine sometime this week.
- 20:15Speaker 1: Doc is alive and well, still performs now and then
- 20:18Speaker 1: he's ninety nine. Great point, Well, thanks for calling. Just
- 20:22Speaker 1: explain this. Skitch Henderson was the band leader of the
- 20:24Speaker 1: Tonight Show for the first he'd been the band leader
- 20:28Speaker 1: under Steve Allen with Johnny Carson for the first almost
- 20:33Speaker 1: five years. Four years he was the band leader. Skitch Henderson,
- 20:36Speaker 1: very well known, big part of the show. And then
- 20:41Speaker 1: one day he was gone. The next day he wasn't there. Well,
- 20:47Speaker 1: there was an incident with a young young girl, a woman.
- 20:51Speaker 1: There was some stuff. A letter came in to NBC
- 20:54Speaker 1: about this. It went right to the top brass chairman
- 20:59Speaker 1: of RCA, which owned NBC. Carson got it and they
- 21:04Speaker 1: decided Kitch had to go. They allowed him to resign
- 21:07Speaker 1: and retire, but he had to go very quickly, and
- 21:12Speaker 1: they didn't have a band leader. I don't know why
- 21:13Speaker 1: they didn't think of Doc Severnson immediately, but they got
- 21:16Speaker 1: this guy, Milton Deluge who had been around for a while.
- 21:20Speaker 1: He was just happened to be there and he looked
- 21:21Speaker 1: like Skitch Anderson. He had to go tee like him,
- 21:23Speaker 1: so they stuck him in there, but absolutely no chemistry
- 21:28Speaker 1: with Carson, so he had to go, and that's when
- 21:30Speaker 1: they brought in Doc. Same thing happened with Jay Leno.
- 21:33Speaker 1: Remember the first year of Leno, it was Wynton Marsalis
- 21:37Speaker 1: or was it Branford Marsalis, Yeah, one of them, and
- 21:41Speaker 1: he wouldn't laugh at Leno's jokes. He always had a
- 21:43Speaker 1: sour looking face, no personality, so they had to get
- 21:46Speaker 1: rid of him and replace him with Kevin. So it's
- 21:50Speaker 1: not the first time that's happened. But the whole thing
- 21:54Speaker 1: has kind of stopped now, you know. Paul Schaeffer was
- 21:57Speaker 1: a big part of let him and sure he was
- 21:58Speaker 1: kind of a sidekick, but nowadays nobody knows who the
- 22:02Speaker 1: band is anymore. Nobody knows who the band leader is anymore.
- 22:05Speaker 1: That's all kind of banished. I know Jimmy Foulon will
- 22:07Speaker 1: look over at the guy in wave and he'll wave,
- 22:09Speaker 1: but he never comes over and sits on the couch
- 22:12Speaker 1: like Doc used to do. Hey, when we come back
- 22:15Speaker 1: and Culter will be with us, lots to talk to
- 22:17Speaker 1: her about. We'll talk about our crazy mayor, mom, Donnie,
- 22:21Speaker 1: and a whole lot more. Just ahead on seven to
- 22:24Speaker 1: ten wor five from the woor Lifebax Studios marks them
- 22:30Speaker 1: on Well well us right now. The best selling author,
- 22:35Speaker 1: the great columnist and Culter. Make sure you watch her
- 22:38Speaker 1: Rumble channel. A lot of great video on Rumble and
- 22:41Speaker 1: live shows every Thursday and culture at Rumble. Also Twitter,
- 22:45Speaker 1: of course, and follow her on substacks and substecks. She's
- 22:48Speaker 1: got videos and columns and podcasts. You go to Aculter
- 22:52Speaker 1: dot substack dot com and Culter dot substack dot com
- 22:57Speaker 1: and culter How you doing?
- 23:00Speaker 6: How are you with Mark Simone?
- 23:02Speaker 1: Very good? Very good? Have you seen our new shanty
- 23:04Speaker 1: town here in Manhattan on the West side.
- 23:07Speaker 6: Tommy's doing a fantastic job, isn't he? What you Why
- 23:10Speaker 6: can't these mayors learn from other mayors? Whenever they put
- 23:16Speaker 6: billions of dollars into quote, homeless services that don't do
- 23:19Speaker 6: anything to get the homeless off the street, you know,
- 23:21Speaker 6: San Francisco, La. That's what they've been doing. They just
- 23:24Speaker 6: go up to the homeless people and ask would you
- 23:28Speaker 6: like would you like to get some treatment? Would you
- 23:32Speaker 6: like it? They're obviously you know they're on drugs or
- 23:34Speaker 6: mentally ill. The answer is no. This is a disease,
- 23:40Speaker 6: both drugs and schizophrenia. It's a disease that prevents you
- 23:44Speaker 6: from knowing you are sick. So of course this doesn't work.
- 23:48Speaker 6: And no, it's awful. It's awful. What's happening to New York?
- 23:51Speaker 1: Okay, But it's a shanty town with the tarp, the
- 23:54Speaker 1: blue tarp. It goes for twelve blocks, and they've stolen
- 23:59Speaker 1: electricity from a light and they're got electric part What
- 24:04Speaker 1: in the mind of mom Donnie when he sees that,
- 24:06Speaker 1: why doesn't he realize this is discussing it makes me
- 24:09Speaker 1: look bad.
- 24:12Speaker 6: I don't know. I think they really want to wreck
- 24:16Speaker 6: reck cities, and they'll be and wreck our country and
- 24:19Speaker 6: and they'll be standing on top of the wreckage, ginning
- 24:23Speaker 6: up the stupid, the poor, the homeless, the drug addicts,
- 24:27Speaker 6: but they'll be they'll be king king and hell uh
- 24:33Speaker 6: and I do want to say, I mean it's awful
- 24:36Speaker 6: just looking at the pictures, just you and me talking
- 24:39Speaker 6: about this. Can you imagine the people have stores in
- 24:42Speaker 6: that area. Yeah, their livelihoods, their lives are ruined.
- 24:48Speaker 1: Well, it's Twelfth Avenue, it's near the Intrepid, so it's
- 24:51Speaker 1: not a lot of business. But in LA where they've
- 24:54Speaker 1: done it. You know that famous Los Angeles restaurant, Musso
- 24:57Speaker 1: and Frank, It's legendary, been there from Currently they're closing
- 25:01Speaker 1: because there's a homeless encampment right in front of their
- 25:03Speaker 1: restaurant and they're going broke, so they're gonna have to.
- 25:07Speaker 6: Restaurant after restaurant and store after store went under in Portland,
- 25:11Speaker 6: the one, the one that I was happy about. What's
- 25:15Speaker 6: the name, It's on the tip of my tongue. But anyway,
- 25:18Speaker 6: they put up an ac A B sign all cops
- 25:24Speaker 6: are basterds.
- 25:25Speaker 5: That was the.
- 25:26Speaker 6: Code to use their bathroom acab so haha, out of business.
- 25:34Speaker 1: But what about the leaders like Schumer and those people.
- 25:37Speaker 1: I know you can't count on them for anything, but
- 25:38Speaker 1: why aren't they yelling and screaming about this.
- 25:42Speaker 4: There.
- 25:43Speaker 6: It's interesting how the Democrats are terrified of their progressive
- 25:48Speaker 6: as as it's called progressive. They who really just want
- 25:52Speaker 6: to destroy our country, tear it down, defund ice, defund
- 25:56Speaker 6: the police, and suddenly if we could talk for a moment.
- 26:00Speaker 6: This is not what my column is about this week,
- 26:01Speaker 6: but I may I may write about it about the
- 26:05Speaker 6: Ice shootings. This is entirely to be laid at Joe Biden,
- 26:11Speaker 6: or I guess I should say the lefties who were
- 26:14Speaker 6: running the Joe Biden administration bringing in, you know, twenty
- 26:19Speaker 6: million illegals in order to get them out. There's going
- 26:23Speaker 6: to be law enforcements when you have a lot of
- 26:25Speaker 6: law enforcement of any sort. Yeah, there's there's going to be.
- 26:32Speaker 6: I don't even think they're necessarily such big Mistakesies are
- 26:35Speaker 6: illegal aliens. They're in our country illegally. When the police
- 26:39Speaker 6: are coming to a rescue if even if you fully comply,
- 26:45Speaker 6: so far it does not seem that they are fully complying.
- 26:47Speaker 6: It looks like our illegal aliens need to get that
- 26:50Speaker 6: same talk that black parents say they give their kids,
- 26:54Speaker 6: how you have to be absolutely polite, one hundreds just
- 26:57Speaker 6: say yes, sir, if a coup pulls you over, you
- 27:00Speaker 6: obey every order, which, by the way, I don't think
- 27:02Speaker 6: that's really stuck observing all of these shootings of black
- 27:09Speaker 6: kids by police. It's always always when they're fighting with
- 27:14Speaker 6: the police, when they're resisting arrest. So don't resist arrest,
- 27:19Speaker 6: don't drive away from ice officers, and another idea, don't
- 27:22Speaker 6: come into our country illegally. I mean, there are times
- 27:25Speaker 6: when utterly innocent, impressive Americans like Pat Tillman get killed
- 27:32Speaker 6: by friendly fire. Sorry, that's what happens in war. I mean,
- 27:35Speaker 6: the military didn't have to lie about it. That was
- 27:37Speaker 6: really awful. But remember he was that just stunning, spectacular.
- 27:41Speaker 6: He had just signed with an NFL team, so good looking,
- 27:45Speaker 6: and some six months after nine to eleven, he left,
- 27:49Speaker 6: walked away from his NFL career and he and his
- 27:52Speaker 6: brother signed up with the military. They were sent to Afghanistan.
- 27:56Speaker 6: Military did lie to us about it, but this and
- 28:00Speaker 6: it was embarrassing. He was killed. There was for the
- 28:03Speaker 6: screw up. It doesn't really matter, but it looked like
- 28:07Speaker 6: it was the Taliban shooting at one group and he
- 28:11Speaker 6: ended up being killed by friendly fire. This is what
- 28:14Speaker 6: happens once in a while, awful, horrible in wartime. It's
- 28:19Speaker 6: what happens in law enforcement. And it was Joe Biden
- 28:23Speaker 6: with the Democrats encouragement, who just hauled in twenty another
- 28:28Speaker 6: twenty millionaire illegals. They have no right to be here.
- 28:31Speaker 6: And I'd also blame Chief Justice Roberts because if we
- 28:35Speaker 6: don't get them out, they're they're gonna they got nine
- 28:38Speaker 6: months to drop the baby and start collecting even more
- 28:42Speaker 6: welfare than they're getting now, which is a lot.
- 28:46Speaker 1: Yeah. But you know, for all you illegals listening, if
- 28:50Speaker 1: the cops stop you, this technique of trying to drive
- 28:54Speaker 1: your car into them and run them over, it's not effective.
- 28:56Speaker 1: It is nobody nobody has used it successfully.
- 28:59Speaker 6: So but even if they don't, I mean, even if
- 29:04Speaker 6: these are accidents, even if they were pulling over the
- 29:07Speaker 6: raw illegal alien, or they were pulling over a quote
- 29:10Speaker 6: legal alien, anger baby probably who's harboring an illegal alien. Sorry,
- 29:18Speaker 6: all these things are illegal. And this happens sometimes, as
- 29:22Speaker 6: with Pat Tillman, even one of our greatest Americans can
- 29:26Speaker 6: be killed by accident when guns are involved.
- 29:29Speaker 1: Yeah. So yeah, well, Tom Holman wanted to stop the
- 29:34Speaker 1: traffic stops. President Trump telling him to resume them right away.
- 29:38Speaker 6: No, I'm very very glad. I just retweeted something she's saying,
- 29:42Speaker 6: what is this a sanctuary car policy?
- 29:47Speaker 1: So what if we just took one state. Let's take Maine,
- 29:50Speaker 1: for instance, and make it, make it officially a sanctuary
- 29:52Speaker 1: state and put every illegal there and they can do
- 29:55Speaker 1: whatever they want, just stay in Maine. It'd be a
- 29:57Speaker 1: nice experiment to see how it goes, wouldn't it.
- 30:02Speaker 6: Sort Of Yes, for one thing, there's no way we
- 30:06Speaker 6: can keep them there, though I have long advocated for
- 30:08Speaker 6: building a wall around the state of California to keep
- 30:11Speaker 6: them out. But I mean all these places, including including California.
- 30:18Speaker 6: You know where I've lived out there, it was it
- 30:21Speaker 6: was a very very Republican area. Beverly Hills went heavily
- 30:25Speaker 6: for Republicans every year. It gives a lot money. I
- 30:28Speaker 6: might add the Upper east Side, the one two one
- 30:32Speaker 6: zip code gives more to Republicans than any zip code
- 30:35Speaker 6: in the country. So you know, you have these poor
- 30:39Speaker 6: patriotic Americans being held hostage because it's not statewide. I mean,
- 30:44Speaker 6: Tennessee is a great state, but look at Memphis, and
- 30:49Speaker 6: California is an awful state. But look at Beverly Hills.
- 30:52Speaker 6: Oh and look at up in the north, the right
- 30:54Speaker 6: wing farmers in the in the northern part of California.
- 30:59Speaker 6: I'm if you can't tell, I've given this a lot
- 31:02Speaker 6: of thought. If there's any way we can chop up
- 31:04Speaker 6: the country to have one really great country, and we could,
- 31:07Speaker 6: but it would be you know, a bunch of non
- 31:09Speaker 6: adjacent carriers.
- 31:13Speaker 1: Hey and Culter, you're I would assume you were not
- 31:15Speaker 1: a big Lindsay Graham fan.
- 31:18Speaker 6: That's true. I won't say anything unkind I tweeted out
- 31:23Speaker 6: that as bad as his sudden death was, there's more
- 31:27Speaker 6: bad news. I'm not the person of interest.
- 31:29Speaker 1: Yeah. Well, he was a very nice guy, very wonderful guy,
- 31:33Speaker 1: but like McCain, he could go haywire on some issues
- 31:37Speaker 1: and across the aisle when you didn't really need him
- 31:40Speaker 1: to cross the aisle on him.
- 31:41Speaker 6: But yeah, exactly. But particularly he was just he was
- 31:45Speaker 6: a warmonger, constantly for war. It's ironic and almost hilarious
- 31:50Speaker 6: that when this happened, he was just returning from Kiev.
- 31:54Speaker 6: I used to always see him on TV. Well, I've had,
- 31:57Speaker 6: you know, seventeen trips to to Jerusalem or you know,
- 32:02Speaker 6: the Balkans or you know this place, you know, could
- 32:07Speaker 6: you do something for Americans? I know it sounds like
- 32:10Speaker 6: you're really cool when you're you know, this international chess
- 32:14Speaker 6: master moving moving pieces around on the glow. But it's
- 32:20Speaker 6: all just bs that nothing ever changes.
- 32:23Speaker 5: Uh.
- 32:24Speaker 6: And Americans have made it very clear we are so
- 32:27Speaker 6: sick of being constantly at war.
- 32:29Speaker 1: Yeah, you got to give this Zelensky credit. I mean,
- 32:32Speaker 1: this guy has held off Russia. We used to think
- 32:34Speaker 1: they were a superpower. Now they look ridiculous and making
- 32:38Speaker 1: zero progress and Ukraine fighting them off for five six
- 32:42Speaker 1: years now, pretty impressive, isn't it?
- 32:46Speaker 6: Not without the US. I'm thank you can thank the
- 32:51Speaker 6: US taxpayer for that.
- 32:53Speaker 1: Well yeah, but now they got their own drone factories.
- 32:55Speaker 1: They're making their own drones. They've they've they've been pretty
- 32:58Speaker 1: good at this. It's it's nice to see Russia stop dead.
- 33:01Speaker 6: And it's giving them hundreds of billions of dollars. Well
- 33:05Speaker 6: all right, so, hey, we really could have used at home,
- 33:10Speaker 6: by the way, could have used that for a fence?
- 33:12Speaker 6: Could we use that for a lot of things other
- 33:15Speaker 6: than something that bears has absolutely no effect on any
- 33:19Speaker 6: Americans life?
- 33:20Speaker 1: Hey, and culture has a great Rumble channel, and now
- 33:25Speaker 1: Rumble started because the YouTube was so left wing, censoring
- 33:29Speaker 1: anything conservative. So Rumble came along. But it's become very big, right,
- 33:34Speaker 1: and it.
- 33:36Speaker 6: Has gotten big. When I first started my substack, you
- 33:39Speaker 6: can connect substack, I guess to YouTube. When at the
- 33:42Speaker 6: time told the guys setting it up for me, this
- 33:44Speaker 6: was during the dwindling years of the Biden administration, I said, look,
- 33:50Speaker 6: I don't think there's any point in even even signing
- 33:53Speaker 6: up for YouTube. I look at all the right wingers.
- 33:55Speaker 6: They have thrown off. Any right winger who is popular,
- 33:59Speaker 6: they will I will throw off. It's really unbelieva. A
- 34:02Speaker 6: lot of left you know, they pretend they're such big
- 34:05Speaker 6: flea speech warriors, but a lot so that a lot
- 34:09Speaker 6: of people went went to Rumble.
- 34:11Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, it's very good. It's Rumble is like YouTube
- 34:16Speaker 1: without the censorship. So you can watch and Culter's Rumble
- 34:19Speaker 1: channel and new shows every Thursday.
- 34:21Speaker 6: Right, that's right.
- 34:23Speaker 1: And uh, but you can go to the channel anytime
- 34:25Speaker 1: and see a lot of stuff there and culture at Rumble.
- 34:28Speaker 6: I then put them on substack usually the next day
- 34:30Speaker 6: with no lads.
- 34:31Speaker 1: Yeah, and follow on substack. It's and Culter dot substack
- 34:35Speaker 1: dot com and of course at Twitter and get all
- 34:37Speaker 1: of her books and and Culter thanks for being with us.
- 34:41Speaker 6: Good to talk to you Marks alone.
- 34:42Speaker 1: Bye bye, take care. Uh, don't forget Buck and Clay.
- 34:46Speaker 1: They'll be here at noon today. And then you got
- 34:48Speaker 1: the most listened to radio show in America. You got
- 34:51Speaker 1: Sean Hannity at three, Jesse Kelly at six, you got
- 34:55Speaker 1: the very funny Jimmy Fayla every night nine to midnight.
- 34:58Speaker 1: And Curtis Curtis Lee was here every morning. It's Curtis
- 35:02Speaker 1: Lee Larry Minty on seven to ten. W R get
- 35:06Speaker 1: hiss in access to Mark by setting a pre set
- 35:09Speaker 1: in the iHeartRadio app for his live show and his podcast.
- 35:13Speaker 1: Now back to the Mark Simone Show on w R. Well,
- 35:21Speaker 1: a new item on the menu at McDonald's that happens
- 35:24Speaker 1: very very very rarely. It looks like it's a chicken
- 35:27Speaker 1: caesar rap. Now, that became a big thing a few
- 35:32Speaker 1: years ago here in Manhattan uptown, Upper east Side, Mulano Market,
- 35:37Speaker 1: chicken caesar salad in a rap. It was they make
- 35:41Speaker 1: the best one in the world. It became a thing
- 35:43Speaker 1: people would wait in line for. Then you see him everywhere.
- 35:45Speaker 1: Everywhere you go out, you see the chicken caesar in
- 35:48Speaker 1: a rap. McDonald's adding it to the menu anytime they
- 35:52Speaker 1: go trendy at McDonald's. It never seems to work. So
- 35:55Speaker 1: I don't know if it'll last. You know, the big arch,
- 35:58Speaker 1: that big big Hamburger they came out with early in
- 36:01Speaker 1: the year was great. So I'm looking at the menu.
- 36:03Speaker 1: It doesn't look like they really have it anymore. It's
- 36:07Speaker 1: not on the menu anymore here. But they got the mcdouble,
- 36:12Speaker 1: which looks like an updated version of it. But look
- 36:16Speaker 1: for that new chicken Caesar wrap at McDonald's. Now that's
- 36:21Speaker 1: gonna be like that. Remember the McLean that came and
- 36:23Speaker 1: went very fast, Remember the McRib Some of these things
- 36:27Speaker 1: don't last. In fact, most of them don't. Hey, it's
- 36:29Speaker 1: going to be a very hot day to day, not
- 36:31Speaker 1: as bad as we thought. It's not gonna be one hundred,
- 36:33Speaker 1: but it's gonna be like ninety six ninety seven, so
- 36:36Speaker 1: be careful outside. It'll cool down a little tomorrow down
- 36:39Speaker 1: to ninety two and then normal eighties on the weekend.
- 36:44Speaker 1: But it looks like rain Saturday and Sunday. Hey, we're
