- 0:01Speaker 1: So good morning, it's Saturday and this question is on my heart.
- 0:06Speaker 1: For all of us, the question is this when the world sees you and me, what do they see?
- 0:14Speaker 1: When the world sees you and me, what do they see?
- 0:19Speaker 1: This is really something that I've really been thinking about, probably all night.
- 0:27Speaker 1: Probably maybe too much, maybe I'm overthinking it a little bit, but I'm thinking more about as those of us who profess to be Jesus followers, christ followers, christians, whatever you know title, whatever title, you go by.
- 0:41Speaker 1: But I wonder what, when the world sees us, do they see the kind of witness and ambassador for Jesus that's in the word, or do they see the ones judgmental?
- 1:07Speaker 1: Do they see us as a safe haven?
- 1:11Speaker 1: Do they see us as people they can come to with their troubles, someone they can trust to pray with them?
- 1:16Speaker 1: Do they see you as somebody that, regardless of the sin that's in their life, they know that you're a person they can come, they can trust you?
- 1:28Speaker 1: Or do they see you as somebody who's just going to throw their sin back in their face, as if you yourself is not a sinner saved by grace?
- 1:39Speaker 1: What does the world see when they look at your life?
- 1:44Speaker 1: Do they see someone who trusts God, or do they just see somebody who goes to church?
- 1:49Speaker 1: Do they see someone whose heart is filled with joy?
- 1:53Speaker 1: Are you the kind of person that has a smile on their face, or are you that person that's like?
- 1:59Speaker 1: You know they're drawn to, but they're drawn to because of the work of the Holy Spirit, the fruits of the Spirit in your life.
- 2:06Speaker 1: What does the world see when they see you?
- 2:11Speaker 1: There's something in my professional life that we do within the branding space and for those of y'all who don't know, I'm an exec and I do a lot of branding things.
- 2:22Speaker 1: For those of y'all who don't know, I'm an exec and I do a lot of branding things.
- 2:26Speaker 1: And there's a thing that we do when we think about brands whether it's a corporate brand, employer brand or personal brand and every now and then you have to take stock, you have to do an assessment and you start basically taking stock of who you are and how you're perceived, how other people see you, not necessarily how you see yourself, but you take stock of how people see you and you do that.
- 2:55Speaker 1: Sometimes you're asking questions, you're taking your own assessment of how you respond to certain situations as a believer.
- 3:00Speaker 1: We do that when we ask the Holy Spirit to purify us and he starts to show us the things that are not really from him.
- 3:07Speaker 1: It might sound good on Sunday, but by the time you get to the parking lot it doesn't reflect who he says.
- 3:15Speaker 1: And so, as I'm thinking about where we go as a people and even in my own walk, I'm not called, and you're not called, to just be in the echo chamber.
- 3:27Speaker 1: Eventually you have to leave the church building.
- 3:30Speaker 1: That's why I always talk to people about when you get to the parking lot right, because you could be fired up in church and I tell you.
- 3:38Speaker 1: You get to the parking lot, you see people lose their manners and lose your minds, just like that.
- 3:43Speaker 1: So what happens when you step into the world?
- 3:46Speaker 1: What?
- 3:48Speaker 1: How does the world see you?
- 3:49Speaker 1: They see you as a place, as a man or woman of god that they can trust.
- 3:53Speaker 1: Are they looking at your life and they're seeing the fruits of the spirit?
- 3:57Speaker 1: Or, again, are they only seeing judgment?
- 3:59Speaker 1: The kingdom of god is not on this planet, this plane, and yet you all are fighting, fighting, fighting, as if God can't fight for himself.
- 4:10Speaker 1: We are to be helping the sick, helping the poor.
- 4:17Speaker 1: We are supposed to have hearts with love.
- 4:19Speaker 1: We're supposed to love one another and yet the minute the opportunity comes, a lot of us run into judgment.
- 4:28Speaker 1: We judge each other because it's easier to do that than look at ourselves.
- 4:33Speaker 1: We point out each other's sins because it's easier to do that than to self-reflect and look at what we're not doing.
- 4:40Speaker 1: So how does the world see you?
- 4:46Speaker 1: I'm hoping that this month, as we're moving into a new month, y'all of October, I pray that we all live to see it.
- 4:53Speaker 1: But what I'm really looking for this month in October, as we're closing out we've got a couple more days left in September is shifting us into being those people who, again, we've got to come out of the echo chamber.
- 5:07Speaker 1: We can yay and amen each other all day long, but we are meant to do more.
- 5:12Speaker 1: We're meant to be all day long, but we are meant to do more.
- 5:19Speaker 1: We're meant to be witnesses of our Lord Jesus within this world.
- 5:21Speaker 1: People should be able to look at our lives and see his light.
- 5:25Speaker 1: Okay, and what is on Jesus's heart?
- 5:27Speaker 1: That's the prayer.
- 5:28Speaker 1: You know what's on your heart, lord, I want to be in alignment.
- 5:32Speaker 1: Give me the instructions.
- 5:33Speaker 1: What do you want me to do in my life, in my family, in my finance, in my community, in my home, in my town, whatever.
- 5:40Speaker 1: And I promise you none of it says that you're supposed to be out here judging people, gossiping, hating.
- 5:45Speaker 1: None of that.
- 5:45Speaker 1: I promise you, that's not what he's saying.
- 5:52Speaker 1: If you look at the word, I'm just leaving a mark.
- 5:53Speaker 1: If you look at how the word shows you the pattern of what Jesus did, right, once he started his ministry, it was about healing.
- 6:00Speaker 1: Healing the paralytic, the great crowd following Jesus, because they want to hear more about his word.
- 6:07Speaker 1: It talks about him and his relationship with his mother and brother.
- 6:12Speaker 1: So, again, reconciling there where you can, and, um, you know, he talks about, uh, the parable of the sower and talks about seeds, and then he again talks about how he was rejected at nazareth.
- 6:25Speaker 1: He sends out the 12 disciples, y'all, um, they're, you know, being called to stay on task.
- 6:31Speaker 1: He feeds people, um, he weeps for Lazarus.
- 6:36Speaker 1: Like all of these, all of these, all of these things, transfiguration, all of these things that the Lord Jesus has done and when the world looks at us, do they see any resemblance to the kind of sacrifice that Jesus made for people?
- 6:51Speaker 1: Or are they just seeing?
- 6:58Speaker 1: Oh yeah, she can sing a good song or her prayers are fire.
- 7:03Speaker 1: The events are great.
- 7:06Speaker 1: Like what are they seeing when they see you?
- 7:08Speaker 1: Do they see him through you, or they just see you y'all?
- 7:15Speaker 1: So that's my prayer for october and that's my question for you this morning.
- 7:20Speaker 1: When the world sees you, what do they see?
- 7:25Speaker 1: I love y'all.
- 7:27Speaker 1: Have a good rush of your weekend.
- 7:28Speaker 1: Bye.
