- 1:26Speaker 1: While visiting a dude ranch that is a potential acquisition
- 1:31Speaker 1: for the outdoor adventure company. She works for an eager
- 1:34Speaker 1: candidate for a big promotion, discovers what matters most when
- 1:37Speaker 1: she reignites her passion for the great outdoors. Gary Yeates
- 1:42Speaker 1: directed Under the Autumn Moon. Gary has forty eight directing credits,
- 1:45Speaker 1: including Girls Gone, Hallmark Favorites, Pearl in Paradise on the
- 1:47Speaker 1: Twelfth Date of Christmas, and Christmas By Starlight. Edgar Lyle
- 1:52Speaker 1: gets the story credit, while Nicole Avril and Tracy Andreine
- 1:56Speaker 1: gets screenplay credits for this script. Under the Autumn Moon
- 2:00Speaker 1: was Edgard's last writing credit and his only Hallmark movie,
- 2:03Speaker 1: although he wrote on series like Army Wives and Rain
- 2:07Speaker 1: last is in like Ever question work Yeah, I mean
- 2:12Speaker 1: since then, not as he has since past. I don't
- 2:16Speaker 1: know that. I don't know, got it. Nicole Averril has
- 2:20Speaker 1: thirteen writing credits, which include the Hallmark movies Fashionably Yours
- 2:25Speaker 1: and A Nutcracker Christmas. She also wrote seven episodes of
- 2:29Speaker 1: Sex and the City and Finally, Tracy Andrene is no
- 2:33Speaker 1: stranger to Hallmark fans. She wrote Royalish earlier this year,
- 2:38Speaker 1: as well as Deck the Wall, Deck the Walls in
- 2:42Speaker 1: twenty twenty four. She also wrote two Tickets to Paradise,
- 2:45Speaker 1: The Holiday Sitter and the Magic of Lemon Drops. All
- 2:49Speaker 1: Girls Gone. Hallmark favorites. Lindy Booth stars as Alex. Lindy
- 2:53Speaker 1: has eighty three acting credits and was last seen on
- 2:56Speaker 1: Hallmark as Lucy Woods in the series Holidays. Wes Brown
- 3:00Speaker 1: plays Josh. Wes will be seen in the Hallmarks haul
- 3:04Speaker 1: Out the Halloween and again during Countdown to Christmas in
- 3:08Speaker 1: a Newport Christmas. Natalie Lesinka plays Sister Taylor. Natalie has
- 3:12Speaker 1: sixty eight acting credits. Although she doesn't often appear on Hallmark,
- 3:16Speaker 1: she appears to favor grittier fair and her next project,
- 3:19Speaker 1: Abducted by a Killer, is in post production. I'm into it.
- 3:22Speaker 1: I know you are into it. Paul scmbrey plays boss
- 3:27Speaker 1: Man Roger. Paul has a deep resume of one and
- 3:30Speaker 1: twenty seven acting credits. He has appeared in Hallmark movies
- 3:34Speaker 1: like Christmas On Call, a Carol for Two, Haunted Wedding,
- 3:37Speaker 1: and Miracle in Bethlehem, PA, just to name a few.
- 3:41Speaker 1: Recent titles are those all four Jeff Beasley movies. Three
- 3:46Speaker 1: of the four are for sure. I don't know if
- 3:47Speaker 1: he directed Christmas on Call. He did. I don't know
- 3:50Speaker 1: if Haunted Wedding is his? Oh oh yeah, yeah yeah.
- 3:54Speaker 1: Casey Manderson plays underhanded coworker Ben. This isn't Casey's first
- 3:58Speaker 1: time playing a bit of a bad dude. He also
- 3:59Speaker 1: played the cop who didn't believe Rip's time traveling story
- 4:02Speaker 1: and tried to ruin the romance and Rip in time
- 4:04Speaker 1: as one of his sixty seven acting credits. As mentioned,
- 4:07Speaker 1: Under the Autumn Moon originally premiered on October thirteenth, twenty eighteen.
- 4:13Speaker 1: We're gonna take a quick break and come right back
- 4:15Speaker 1: with our first impression of Under the Autumn Moon. Hey, Wendy,
- 4:26Speaker 1: what's your first impression of Under the Autumn Moon? Oh? Hi,
- 4:30Speaker 1: Erica Tuvley, your my favorite thing about this movie? Oh no, literally,
- 4:36Speaker 1: my no is right. First impression says oh hey, Erica
- 4:40Speaker 1: Tuvlay making an appearance in a hometown movie as the
- 4:45Speaker 1: driver with like one line, Hi, body receptions a little
- 4:51Speaker 1: spotty out here. I love him so much. I need
- 4:55Speaker 1: him in more Hallmark movies. I'm dying to know. We
- 4:57Speaker 1: should message him if he's in anything upcoming. Yeah, I should.
- 5:02Speaker 1: I don't know if my grown indicated anything, but this
- 5:07Speaker 1: one was a slog for me. Interesting. This was a
- 5:11Speaker 1: hard watch. Well, let's hear. Did you like anything? I did?
- 5:16Speaker 1: I did? I love Wes Brown. I love West Brown.
- 5:19Speaker 1: I've recently been watching some old seasons of Scandal, and
- 5:23Speaker 1: he showed up in season one. I was, Oh, I
- 5:27Speaker 1: love West Brown. I'm excited for Haul out the Halloween.
- 5:31Speaker 1: Can't wait to see him in that. I'm excited for
- 5:33Speaker 1: a new part Christmas. I enjoy him quite a lot.
- 5:37Speaker 1: And you know, I'm into like the quiet, strong cowboy
- 5:43Speaker 1: situation he had going on in this movie too. Yeah, sure,
- 5:46Speaker 1: what's not to like? What is not to like? Except
- 5:50Speaker 1: I hate the story. That's what I did not like. Well,
- 5:53Speaker 1: so one of my likes is I do feel this
- 5:55Speaker 1: movie is very formulaic. I mean, oh, my family business
- 5:59Speaker 1: is in trouble, little big city developer coming in right.
- 6:02Speaker 1: But but it works for me. I gotta say it worked.
- 6:06Speaker 1: I thought Lindy and West were a nice pair the
- 6:12Speaker 1: I also enjoyed the additional love story between Jill and Michael.
- 6:16Speaker 1: That's one of my wishes. Oh, I like that. I
- 6:20Speaker 1: thought them more. Yes, I like them more. Bye. Well, okay,
- 6:25Speaker 1: I will get into it in the wishes, but yes,
- 6:27Speaker 1: I like them more. Okay. I also, if I may continue,
- 6:32Speaker 1: I thought the movie was really beautiful to look at.
- 6:34Speaker 1: I thought it was very saturated. Oh my god, it
- 6:37Speaker 1: was like Hobby Lobby threw up everywhere. It was so overdone.
- 6:42Speaker 1: The outdoor shots were beautiful. I thought even their office
- 6:46Speaker 1: at home was bright and saturated. The fall vibes were
- 6:49Speaker 1: vibing for me. Yes, there were a lot of fake leaves,
- 6:53Speaker 1: a lot of fake leaves, and that's not typically my favorite.
- 6:57Speaker 1: But I just it felt like fall, and a lot
- 7:01Speaker 1: of these movies don't feel like fall, so I appreciated
- 7:05Speaker 1: the effort there. I enjoyed all of the animals, particularly
- 7:10Speaker 1: the barn cats. Give me a barn cat any day.
- 7:13Speaker 1: You want a cat so badly, and you have a
- 7:15Speaker 1: big dog in your house, I mean, my parents have
- 7:18Speaker 1: a big dog and they have two cats. Cats and
- 7:19Speaker 1: dogs aren't mutually exclusive. I don't have a cat because
- 7:24Speaker 1: I don't have a good place for a litter box
- 7:26Speaker 1: in my home. That's like out of the way fake news.
- 7:31Speaker 1: If you do, where where would you put it where
- 7:33Speaker 1: it's not there's no place where it's out of the way.
- 7:36Speaker 1: You would put it in the shower and your downstairs bathroom. Gross.
- 7:40Speaker 1: I don't want a litter box where my guests go
- 7:42Speaker 1: to the bathroom, all right, put it in the closet
- 7:46Speaker 1: in the playroom. Look, my husband also hates cats. That
- 7:49Speaker 1: is the other the real reason why we don't have cats.
- 7:52Speaker 1: And I don't want any more things to take care of,
- 7:54Speaker 1: like I'm tapped out. Fair. That is fair, and not
- 7:58Speaker 1: want to care for any more living things. Maybe someday,
- 8:03Speaker 1: when it's just my husband and I all alone, I'll
- 8:06Speaker 1: get cats. Okay, But yes, I do love a cat.
- 8:11Speaker 1: I go to my parents' house to hang out with
- 8:12Speaker 1: their cats. I liked the barn cats. I agree with you, Okay,
- 8:18Speaker 1: I'm totally not. You can be a hater all you want.
- 8:21Speaker 1: We don't have to agree. I'm not. I you know,
- 8:25Speaker 1: like when we get like this ranch setting and these
- 8:27Speaker 1: beautiful like open skies, and like you're like, ugh nature, gross? No,
- 8:32Speaker 1: I like nature. What are you talking about? I like nature?
- 8:35Speaker 1: It it ticks the my autumn loving hearts. Content. I
- 8:40Speaker 1: want that stuff. I just when you like walk in
- 8:43Speaker 1: and there's just like draping of orange flowers, for sure,
- 8:50Speaker 1: everywhere orange leaves. I'm just like enough already enough, that's all.
- 8:58Speaker 1: Another thing I liked is I was vinced, and I
- 9:00Speaker 1: even said out loud to my husband, I was sure
- 9:03Speaker 1: the conflict is going to be Josh hearing Alex and
- 9:05Speaker 1: her boss discussing the plan for a distribution center and
- 9:08Speaker 1: him wrongly assuming that Alex was in on it. I
- 9:12Speaker 1: was thrilled that that wasn't the case. I mean, I
- 9:16Speaker 1: thought the conflict was a little silly, but I was
- 9:18Speaker 1: glad that he didn't immediately turn on Alex in his
- 9:23Speaker 1: in his eavesdropping. They had a real opportunity there to
- 9:28Speaker 1: just lean so hard into an additional Hallmark trow. Yeah,
- 9:32Speaker 1: I'm I'm happy they didn't. I'm with you. I was like,
- 9:36Speaker 1: oh God, this is where we're going. But I appreciate
- 9:39Speaker 1: that it didn't. Did you like anything else about this movie?
- 9:43Speaker 1: Sure didn't. All right, let's hear some wishes. I have
- 9:48Speaker 1: a few. The first one is and you already talked
- 9:52Speaker 1: about it. It's so what's the word formulaic? Hmm, it's it.
- 10:00Speaker 1: I get it was twenty eighteen, right. I think I
- 10:06Speaker 1: don't think Hallmark maybe they do, maybe maybe I'm wrong,
- 10:11Speaker 1: but I don't think they've totally followed these kind of
- 10:13Speaker 1: strict formulas anymore. No, I don't think so. I don't
- 10:17Speaker 1: think it's tropes on tropes on tropes anymore. Do you
- 10:20Speaker 1: think people are mad about that? Do you think they
- 10:22Speaker 1: want all the tropes? I don't know, because I'm curious.
- 10:28Speaker 1: I'm like, why is this like a fan favorite movie?
- 10:30Speaker 1: I enjoyed it. It's rated really well on IMDb too. Really,
- 10:35Speaker 1: it's like seven point two or something. Yeah, that's a
- 10:38Speaker 1: high rating for a Hallmark movie. That is pretty high.
- 10:42Speaker 1: I don't love. I'm like, we've seen this movie before.
- 10:44Speaker 1: I don't love the trope of you know, big city
- 10:48Speaker 1: girl comes to small town and there's a threat to
- 10:51Speaker 1: the family business. Like we literally watched that movie three
- 10:55Speaker 1: weeks ago, with the one with Jesse Shram. I know
- 10:58Speaker 1: she's not big she was, you know, but whatever, same
- 11:02Speaker 1: sort of blueprint. Anyway, it just drives me crazy. It
- 11:06Speaker 1: just I'm thankful. I'm thankful I'm not watching new movies
- 11:10Speaker 1: that follow this formula. Otherwise you would have to find
- 11:13Speaker 1: a new podcast co host. You didn't come back for
- 11:19Speaker 1: the Way Home? Yeah, exactly, exactly. Also, I thought that
- 11:29Speaker 1: our two leads didn't have a ton of spark. I
- 11:34Speaker 1: thought that there was some sweet moments, but they didn't
- 11:37Speaker 1: like sizzle. For me, I'm really in the lane of
- 11:40Speaker 1: like I need sizzle. And if you heard my review
- 11:43Speaker 1: on Home Turf, like I was like, wowie zooied by
- 11:46Speaker 1: Warren's Christie's Warren's Warren's Christie two first names, your last names,
- 11:53Speaker 1: like whatever. I was really wowed by his kiss in
- 11:59Speaker 1: that movie. I would agree there's no sizzle in this movie.
- 12:03Speaker 1: No no, And it's very syrupy sweet, yes, and I
- 12:08Speaker 1: don't like it. I don't like that. Here's one more
- 12:13Speaker 1: thing like I really didn't like And maybe you're going
- 12:15Speaker 1: to push back on me. Perhaps maybe the listeners might
- 12:19Speaker 1: push back on me. I don't love Lindy Booth rude.
- 12:24Speaker 1: I thought she was great in this I'm not trying
- 12:26Speaker 1: to be rude, like she's She's a capable actress. I
- 12:31Speaker 1: didn't love her in Holidays either, Like I thought her
- 12:33Speaker 1: story in Holidays was one of the weakest. Well, so
- 12:38Speaker 1: I agree with you there. I think those are two
- 12:39Speaker 1: separate statements. Though I thought her story the West Family
- 12:43Speaker 1: story and Holidays was boring and woods yeah, thank you, yeah,
- 12:47Speaker 1: good job. I thought her and her sisters and her
- 12:51Speaker 1: daughter's story was weak and the least interesting of the bunch,
- 12:56Speaker 1: but so she didn't have a lot to do. I
- 12:58Speaker 1: thought she was fun in this. I have seen her
- 13:00Speaker 1: in a lot, I will be honest, but I thought
- 13:04Speaker 1: she was fun in this. I enjoyed her. I didn't
- 13:09Speaker 1: going into this. I was like, oh, I don't really know,
- 13:11Speaker 1: Like she was just the girl in Holidays. So I
- 13:14Speaker 1: wasn't like yay Lindy Booth and West Brown, but I
- 13:18Speaker 1: did enjoy them together. Well, here is a call to
- 13:21Speaker 1: our listeners. If there is a Lindy Booth movie that
- 13:23Speaker 1: I must watch where she really lows me, email me
- 13:28Speaker 1: at Girls Gone Homemark at gmail dot com. I need
- 13:30Speaker 1: to know. I need to know I'm not seeing it.
- 13:36Speaker 1: I'm sorry. Oh finally, my last wish. I thought I
- 13:40Speaker 1: was kind of boring. I just thought I was boring.
- 13:42Speaker 1: That was boring. Which one did you watch? First Home
- 13:45Speaker 1: Turf or Under the Autumn Moon? Under the Autumn Moon? Okay?
- 13:49Speaker 1: I had to watch it like three times, like I
- 13:51Speaker 1: like tapped out two times before finishing it. Well, let
- 13:55Speaker 1: me tell you my wishes. Why would a company build
- 13:58Speaker 1: a distribution center in the middle of know where they
- 14:00Speaker 1: wouldn't that it is so unbelievable that you would build
- 14:03Speaker 1: it in North Dakota, where there's not a major international airport,
- 14:08Speaker 1: or at least an airport that's not where you build
- 14:11Speaker 1: a distribution center. I also find that the ending doesn't
- 14:13Speaker 1: make a lot of sense. This ranch was in trouble,
- 14:16Speaker 1: it was in financial trouble, and all of a sudden
- 14:19Speaker 1: paying off the debt and rebranding it to be this
- 14:22Speaker 1: like outdoor store ranch. I'm not sure how that saves it,
- 14:27Speaker 1: unless now they've got like a big marketing budget. I
- 14:30Speaker 1: would have rather seen them incorporate some element of stargazing
- 14:34Speaker 1: to the ranch to bring a new clientele, to incorporate
- 14:38Speaker 1: a the name of the freaking movie and be Josh's
- 14:42Speaker 1: love of stargazing and the moon as part of their
- 14:45Speaker 1: plan to revitalize things. Finally, does Casey Manderson like playing
- 14:50Speaker 1: the bad guy? Because I feel like he might as
- 14:52Speaker 1: well have been shown rubbing his hands together and laughing
- 14:55Speaker 1: to himself to paint the very obvious picture that he
- 14:58Speaker 1: himself is a va I like him, but I'm like,
- 15:02Speaker 1: I can only see you as a bad guy. Now,
- 15:05Speaker 1: that's so funny you say that the visual I just
- 15:08Speaker 1: had you're like his hands together. Exactly, yeah, exactly, too funny.
- 15:18Speaker 1: Let's talk to you to see that I had none
- 15:21Speaker 1: other than Erica Tuvley. All right, well, uh, you're telling
- 15:24Speaker 1: me that this clearly competent woman who's very good at
- 15:27Speaker 1: her job can't read a recipe to the point that
- 15:31Speaker 1: she just dumps pie ingredients into raw pie shells. There's
- 15:36Speaker 1: literally like lumps of canned pumpkin in the pie shells
- 15:39Speaker 1: and blueberries in come on like burning it. Sure, but
- 15:46Speaker 1: it was a disaster. Yeah, I hate that. I hate
- 15:50Speaker 1: that trip too, Like, oh, she's competent in the boardroom,
- 15:52Speaker 1: but she's a real Louis and Co. You know, like, no, no,
- 15:57Speaker 1: all right. The other thing is you're telling me that
- 16:01Speaker 1: when Jill and Michael are talking about where they live
- 16:05Speaker 1: and they discover that one lives in Modesto and then
- 16:07Speaker 1: lives in Fresno, and then Michael's like, I looked it up.
- 16:10Speaker 1: It's only an hour and a half away. People, Modesto
- 16:13Speaker 1: and Fresno are both like middle ish of nowhere. Is
- 16:16Speaker 1: that a fair statement in the state of California. I
- 16:19Speaker 1: feel like people people who live in remote ish cities
- 16:25Speaker 1: in California know how far it is to the next
- 16:28Speaker 1: remote ish city, Like, if you're an hour and a
- 16:31Speaker 1: half away, you know how far away Fresno is. I
- 16:33Speaker 1: just these are not like unknown cities. It wouldn't have
- 16:39Speaker 1: come as a shock. He's like, I just discovered that
- 16:42Speaker 1: we live an hour and a half away from each other.
- 16:43Speaker 1: Those are two well known remoteish areas in the state
- 16:47Speaker 1: of California. I agree. I just thought it was like
- 16:50Speaker 1: this major revelation they could have had that maybe if
- 16:54Speaker 1: you don't live in California, you're like, how far away?
- 16:56Speaker 1: They didn't have to reveal it that way. That's all
- 16:58Speaker 1: I'm saying. They could have found a better way for
- 16:59Speaker 1: them to be like, we're gonna see each other again
- 17:01Speaker 1: after this moment. Totally well, I am very afraid to ask,
- 17:06Speaker 1: what did you rate under the Autumn Moon? It was
- 17:09Speaker 1: a generous two and a half stars. Wow, generous. I
- 17:15Speaker 1: mean I rarely like rate like a one star movie
- 17:19Speaker 1: or a two star movie. No, this was not a
- 17:21Speaker 1: one star movie. This was not. Oh I don't think
- 17:24Speaker 1: so either I've seen I've seen a one star movie
- 17:27Speaker 1: this year or this. This was better than that. But
- 17:30Speaker 1: I gave it three stars, So let's be serious. And
- 17:32Speaker 1: did not only gave it half a half a star
- 17:35Speaker 1: more than I did. I know. I think three stars
- 17:38Speaker 1: is actually a nice rating right down the mill. I
- 17:44Speaker 1: need a soundboard, but I'm hey. Thank you for listening
- 17:48Speaker 1: to this episode of Girls Gone Hallmark, a bramble jam podcast.
- 17:51Speaker 1: Maybe hold off on leaving us a rating and review
- 17:53Speaker 1: after this episode, just kidding. If you love this podcast,
