- 0:03Speaker 1: Jaguars are back in the building getting ready for Week
- 0:05Speaker 1: ten against the forty nine ers. You guys, what are
- 0:07Speaker 1: your biggest concerns for Sunday.
- 0:08Speaker 2: They got to help me.
- 0:09Speaker 3: Anton Harrison, He's gonna see who I think is the
- 0:11Speaker 3: best pass rusher in the league. Nick Bosa all day long.
- 0:15Speaker 2: Christ McCaffrey and Devis Andel.
- 0:35Speaker 1: Welcomeing to Jack's Am on this Wednesday. Kennannie Stevens, Brian Sexton,
- 0:38Speaker 1: John Oser. We're getting ready to kind of deep dive
- 0:41Speaker 1: into the forty nine ers because we've had the week
- 0:42Speaker 1: off where we're fresh now, so we're ready to get
- 0:44Speaker 1: talking about things. And you mentioned a couple of the
- 0:47Speaker 1: big names on this team. There are stars all over
- 0:49Speaker 1: the board.
- 0:50Speaker 3: On this team. You know, this defensive line already had
- 0:54Speaker 3: two hundred and two million guaranteed dollars dedicated to it.
- 0:57Speaker 3: Nick Bosa, Javon Hargrave, through they grabbed in free agency
- 1:00Speaker 3: last year from Philadelphia and Eric Armstead who was divorced
- 1:03Speaker 3: Buckner's running made at Oregon. And then they added Chase Young,
- 1:07Speaker 3: who is a very productive pass rusher at least this
- 1:11Speaker 3: year when he's been healthy. Holy Cole, I mean, you
- 1:14Speaker 3: got to protect the quarterback this week. You got to
- 1:16Speaker 3: give him enough time to be able to turn and
- 1:18Speaker 3: hit his hot read because they never stopped coming.
- 1:21Speaker 4: Yeah, and the Forts pass rush has not been what
- 1:24Speaker 4: they expected. It's why they added Chase Young. It's been
- 1:26Speaker 4: good at the spots, but sort of like the Jags,
- 1:28Speaker 4: they get pressure but haven't gotten a whole lot of sacks.
- 1:32Speaker 4: You know, Chris McCaffrey and Davis Samuel and that offense
- 1:36Speaker 4: went is or George Kettle either one. Yes, they are
- 1:42Speaker 4: very good when they're right. They hadn't been right right
- 1:46Speaker 4: before the bye because of some injuries. There are some
- 1:48Speaker 4: other issues pressure and Brockbird.
- 1:51Speaker 1: And some time to get healthy because they're coming off
- 1:53Speaker 1: of buye as well. So that's always helpful for both
- 1:55Speaker 1: teams coming into this one. We're gonna see the best
- 1:57Speaker 1: of the best.
- 1:58Speaker 2: Hopefully.
- 1:58Speaker 1: Let's get to our big things. Our first big thing
- 2:01Speaker 1: this week is going to be plus minus. We know
- 2:04Speaker 1: the Jaguars are good at takeaways, but they also turned
- 2:06Speaker 1: the ball over a little bit. They've been able to
- 2:09Speaker 1: deal with that the last couple of games, turning the
- 2:11Speaker 1: ball over a lot, but also winning San Francisco forty
- 2:14Speaker 1: nine ers have not had that luxury. They've been turning
- 2:16Speaker 1: the ball over and losing Brian. I mean, kind of
- 2:19Speaker 1: interesting how the two parallels.
- 2:20Speaker 2: But a lot of that is the quarterback plays.
- 2:22Speaker 3: I think, so Rock Perdy is a good quarterback when
- 2:26Speaker 3: he has the lead, and this defense is playing well.
- 2:28Speaker 3: The last three weeks, they've only averaged seventeen points, and
- 2:31Speaker 3: they haven't had the ball very much and they haven't
- 2:33Speaker 3: had a lead, and he struggled. Now he also suffered
- 2:36Speaker 3: a concussion and has been working his way back from that.
- 2:39Speaker 3: So there's a lot of different factors going in. The
- 2:43Speaker 3: Jaguars lead the league kai with eighteen takeaways, but they
- 2:47Speaker 3: are tied for the second most giveaways with thirteen, and
- 2:51Speaker 3: in the last four wins they've turned the ball over
- 2:53Speaker 3: twice in each win. Well, that hasn't really killed them
- 2:56Speaker 3: against the Colts or the Saints or the Steelers. But again,
- 3:00Speaker 3: this team with all the talent George Kittle and the
- 3:03Speaker 3: running back and the receivers, and you forgot Brandon Aouk
- 3:06Speaker 3: who has really emerged over the last two seasons to
- 3:09Speaker 3: be a down the field threat. If you give Brock
- 3:11Speaker 3: Purty extra possessions or better field position, they're not going
- 3:15Speaker 3: to score seventeen points. They're coming off the bye week,
- 3:17Speaker 3: he's had his chance to rest. The turnover differential number,
- 3:21Speaker 3: to me, is going to be the indicator of who
- 3:24Speaker 3: wins this Bowl game.
- 3:25Speaker 2: Yeah, it's key. It's remarkable.
- 3:27Speaker 4: The Jaguars have forced turnovers in seven of eight games,
- 3:31Speaker 4: forced multiple turnovers in six of eight, and then you
- 3:34Speaker 4: look at the offensive stats. I think they've turned the
- 3:36Speaker 4: ball over in seven of eight games. It's remarkable they
- 3:40Speaker 4: got through this five game winning streak, not only without losing.
- 3:45Speaker 4: That's what you do on the winning street, lose very often,
- 3:47Speaker 4: but without trailing. Considering that they were down in turnover
- 3:53Speaker 4: margin off the bat in Steelers game, Saints game, then
- 3:59Speaker 4: at least one other. It's really hard to do that.
- 4:02Speaker 4: It shows you how good they are, how well the
- 4:04Speaker 4: defense is playing. But it does cause you to operate
- 4:07Speaker 4: on edge. And I agree with this stretch coming up,
- 4:08Speaker 4: especially Sunday. They have to be more protective with the ball.
- 4:12Speaker 4: It's why Doug has talked about it as a theme
- 4:16Speaker 4: every time he's talked since the bystart.
- 4:17Speaker 3: But they've turned the ball over eight times in five wins.
- 4:20Speaker 3: But if you really look at it, they turn the
- 4:21Speaker 3: ball over twice in each of the last four games.
- 4:25Speaker 3: That is unsustainable. John mention, what's coming up. You've got
- 4:28Speaker 3: a Titans game coming up. You also have the Bengals
- 4:31Speaker 3: and you have the Redvents coming up. You've got to
- 4:34Speaker 3: turn that around.
- 4:35Speaker 1: Can't be handing out extra possessions. I agree with you, guys.
- 4:37Speaker 1: Our second big thing this week is going to be
- 4:39Speaker 1: great minds. We've seen some great coaching matchups so far
- 4:42Speaker 1: in the season, even though we're just eight games in
- 4:45Speaker 1: at this point. But Kyle Shanahan and Doug Peterson, those
- 4:48Speaker 1: are two of the best in the league. I'll speak
- 4:50Speaker 1: speak on that and say that, and for me, it's
- 4:52Speaker 1: a lot of their Dame adjustments, right. I feel like
- 4:55Speaker 1: these are coaches sometimes where you watch a game and
- 4:57Speaker 1: the haves look like two different games because they're able
- 5:00Speaker 1: to adjust to their opponents so quickly. John, it's it
- 5:03Speaker 1: must be difficult to go up against them and then
- 5:05Speaker 1: against each other.
- 5:06Speaker 4: Well, they're both great, great play callers. Both have been
- 5:10Speaker 4: in a Super Bowl Doug's one one, and you can
- 5:15Speaker 4: point to that ability as reasons their teams are good.
- 5:19Speaker 4: I always believe that they're you know, most coaches, most
- 5:22Speaker 4: oftense coordinators. If you put thirty two of them in
- 5:25Speaker 4: a bucket, there's twenty five of them that are sort
- 5:28Speaker 4: of well. I think these two guys are on the
- 5:31Speaker 4: top end of and I think they're both really good.
- 5:33Speaker 3: I think I've said it a couple of times on
- 5:34Speaker 3: the show. When the Niners are on, I want to
- 5:36Speaker 3: watch them because I think Kyle Shanahan does such an
- 5:39Speaker 3: amazing job with his personnel groupings. They're always interesting with
- 5:43Speaker 3: his motions and movement, and Doug Peterson is every bit
- 5:47Speaker 3: the coach. So this is a premier matchup for me
- 5:49Speaker 3: on Sunday. And I give you an example. In the
- 5:51Speaker 3: game against the Bengals two sundays ago before they're bye week,
- 5:55Speaker 3: there was a play where he Kyle Shanahan moved both
- 5:59Speaker 3: George Kittle and Greg Kittle both Yeah, both men, Greg Kettle,
- 6:05Speaker 3: George Kittle and CMC in the same direction. You just
- 6:09Speaker 3: watched the whole defense flow. It was never going back,
- 6:11Speaker 3: it was going back over here to Brandon Ayouka. I mean,
- 6:13Speaker 3: there's just masterful how he dictates where he wants people
- 6:17Speaker 3: to be. And there are a few I think offensive
- 6:20Speaker 3: coordinators who can legitimately dictate play in and play out
- 6:23Speaker 3: to a defense. There are plenty of them that take
- 6:25Speaker 3: what a defense gives them. I think Shanahan and Doug
- 6:29Speaker 3: Peterson are right at the top of the list, with
- 6:31Speaker 3: Andy Reid. Maybe Reid is a notch above because he's
- 6:35Speaker 3: obviously the master. But wow, and one more thing. I
- 6:39Speaker 3: remember in nineteen ninety nine when the great Don Capers
- 6:42Speaker 3: was the defensive coordinator, asking him why the Broncos, because
- 6:46Speaker 3: Mike Shanahan, Kyle's father was the coach of the Broncos,
- 6:48Speaker 3: Why even without John Elway they were still able to
- 6:52Speaker 3: be so good? He says, doesn't matter when you've got
- 6:55Speaker 3: a coach that is so efficient with his personnel, groupings
- 6:59Speaker 3: and motion. He said, no one does it better than Shanahan.
- 7:02Speaker 3: And here his son is now. And by the way
- 7:04Speaker 3: that Shanahan tree is sprinkled throughout the league, there's a
- 7:07Speaker 3: half a dozen eight coaches from an offensive mindset who
- 7:10Speaker 3: come from the Shanahans, and you see it all over
- 7:12Speaker 3: the league.
- 7:13Speaker 1: I know it's a player's league, but with these kind
- 7:15Speaker 1: of coaches, you got to think they can swing things
- 7:17Speaker 1: with a couple wins, with the way that they're able
- 7:19Speaker 1: to coach and make adjustments when they lose players to
- 7:21Speaker 1: injury as well. I've seen the forty nine ers do
- 7:23Speaker 1: that time and time again. Our final big thing this
- 7:25Speaker 1: week is going to be about the coordinators, Mike and Steve.
- 7:28Speaker 1: That's coming down to, you know, Steve Wilkes, Mike Caldwell.
- 7:32Speaker 1: The defense is going to be a huge part of
- 7:33Speaker 1: this game. We talked about the pass rush maybe not
- 7:36Speaker 1: being quite where you know, some people want to be
- 7:39Speaker 1: at the team is very happy with it, but people
- 7:40Speaker 1: are always going to call for an extra pass rusher.
- 7:43Speaker 1: Corina Ims have kind of been dealing with that a
- 7:44Speaker 1: little bit as well, And Brian, I know you talked
- 7:45Speaker 1: about some of the money that's there. It's because they
- 7:47Speaker 1: expect a lot from their pass rush because they paid
- 7:49Speaker 1: for it.
- 7:49Speaker 2: They do.
- 7:50Speaker 3: They pay for it. But they also have guys like
- 7:51Speaker 3: Fred Warner, who you know, Jaguars Fins may or may
- 7:54Speaker 3: not be all that familiar with number fifty four for
- 7:56Speaker 3: the Niners. He's as good a linebacker as there is
- 7:58Speaker 3: in the NFL. John, I mean, he wrote from sideline
- 8:00Speaker 3: to sideline. They can bring him on the blitz though,
- 8:02Speaker 3: because they're so good upfront, they don't have to. He's
- 8:05Speaker 3: the guy who can drop into coverage with a wide receiver.
- 8:08Speaker 3: He is freaking terrific. And on the Jaguars side, they've
- 8:12Speaker 3: been getting so much from Mike Caldwell. I mean, he
- 8:15Speaker 3: has had this team playing above the x's and o's
- 8:18Speaker 3: and they're gonna have to on Sunday. They're going to
- 8:21Speaker 3: have to If it's gonna boil it down, it would
- 8:23Speaker 3: be do your job. I believe that Mike Caldwell has
- 8:27Speaker 3: proven that he puts guys in a position to be
- 8:29Speaker 3: successful on Sunday. But there's gonna be so much motion,
- 8:32Speaker 3: it's so much thought that is required. Just do your job,
- 8:37Speaker 3: do what Mike and his coaches have you lined up
- 8:40Speaker 3: to do, and that's gonna be your best chance for
- 8:42Speaker 3: success against the Niners.
- 8:43Speaker 2: For a couple of thoughts, one, I think if this
- 8:46Speaker 2: game had.
- 8:46Speaker 4: Been last year, when this Jaguars team was still learning
- 8:49Speaker 4: this defense, it'd been a lot of trouble because it
- 8:52Speaker 4: would have been.
- 8:55Speaker 2: They would have been thinking too much.
- 8:58Speaker 4: The motions and the things that the forty nine ers
- 9:00Speaker 4: do well to get you off balance would have really
- 9:02Speaker 4: fooled this team. The biggest change has been that things
- 9:06Speaker 4: like that don't fool this team.
- 9:07Speaker 2: Right now. It's an interesting I doubt the players talk
- 9:12Speaker 2: about it very much.
- 9:13Speaker 4: I know the coaches won't. But there's this perception, because
- 9:17Speaker 4: of Bosa, because of Chase Young, that forty nine ers
- 9:22Speaker 4: are a great defense than they are. But I don't
- 9:27Speaker 4: know that they're the best defense in this game. Because
- 9:29Speaker 4: the Jaguars have thirteen fourteen guys, maybe not the superstar,
- 9:33Speaker 4: maybe Josh is a superstar, Josh Allen. Beyond that, not
- 9:36Speaker 4: a lot of household names. I've got to think that
- 9:40Speaker 4: there's a lot of motivation for this defense. Not that
- 9:43Speaker 4: you know, I'm not big into that. Oh, we're playing
- 9:45Speaker 4: these guys, but this week, this is a chance for
- 9:49Speaker 4: this defense to show a lot of people what they
- 9:52Speaker 4: already know they are.
- 9:54Speaker 2: Should be a good one. Stay with us.
- 9:55Speaker 1: We're going to talk about the two deadline acquisitions for
- 9:58Speaker 1: both of these teams coming up after the break. Here
- 10:00Speaker 1: on jags Am, where we are the official healthcare provider
- 10:04Speaker 1: of the Jacksonville Jaguars, presented by Zaptists jag zamb brought

- 10:28Speaker 1: available inventory and go Jags back here on Jagzam presented
- 10:32Speaker 1: by Jet Home Loans in the Hyundai studios.
- 10:35Speaker 2: And both of these teams.
- 10:36Speaker 1: Were active in the one a little more than the other,
- 10:39Speaker 1: I mean addressing concerns on their team for sure. The
- 10:41Speaker 1: Jaguars adding to the offensive line and forty nine Ers
- 10:45Speaker 1: adding to their pass rush. They're Chase Young heading from
- 10:48Speaker 1: Washington over to the forty nine Ers, and he's reuniting
- 10:51Speaker 1: with his college teammate Nick Bosa. He talked about that
- 10:54Speaker 1: to the media yesterday.
- 10:56Speaker 5: Nick Nick is here, you know, always been a big
- 10:58Speaker 5: brother to me. You've not Ohio State.
- 11:03Speaker 2: You know.
- 11:04Speaker 5: I'm just stepping in here for you know today, got
- 11:08Speaker 5: in here last week. I'm just a culture on the vibe.
- 11:12Speaker 5: It's a lot different, you know. I definitely know that
- 11:17Speaker 5: I'm gonna build with winners.
- 11:20Speaker 1: John Chase knows he's in the building with winners.
- 11:23Speaker 4: Now, yeah, I I I think it's Chase. I don't
- 11:26Speaker 4: know Chase, but I always uh, I was amused a
- 11:29Speaker 4: few years ago, Brian, when Jalen Ramsey and Unika Gokway
- 11:32Speaker 4: left and talked about it's great to be out of there.
- 11:37Speaker 2: I always I always sort of think a.
- 11:40Speaker 4: Franchise player, Uh, if you are a franchise player, you
- 11:44Speaker 4: can lift a franchise. Maybe that's the old get off
- 11:47Speaker 4: my lawn, Brian, But that's just sort of when I
- 11:51Speaker 4: hear that. Again, not not gonna Chase. I don't know him, uh,
- 11:55Speaker 4: but I always just kind of wish that players could.
- 12:02Speaker 2: Raise the franchise were with.
- 12:03Speaker 4: Maybe it's the nineteen seventies football guy.
- 12:05Speaker 1: I think there're gonna be something to be said for
- 12:08Speaker 1: maybe a change of atmosphere. But like when you're immediately
- 12:11Speaker 1: contributing it to the culture, Like maybe it's a change
- 12:13Speaker 1: and it's good change for you, that doesn't necessarily mean
- 12:15Speaker 1: it's a bad culture.
- 12:16Speaker 2: Sure, yeah, yeah.
- 12:17Speaker 3: And I don't know Chase either, do respect there were
- 12:19Speaker 3: a lot of chaotic moments over the last few years
- 12:21Speaker 3: with that franchise. Sure, but pass rusher is a premier position.
- 12:25Speaker 3: Everybody wants more pass rush and here's a guy who
- 12:28Speaker 3: was a top pick who has worked his way back
- 12:30Speaker 3: from injury, and I think he has five and a
- 12:32Speaker 3: half sacks for the Redskins Commanders. That was one of
- 12:36Speaker 3: the chaotic moments. And they let him go right for
- 12:40Speaker 3: a third round pick. They have just traded Montese Wet
- 12:42Speaker 3: for a second and now they let this guy go.
- 12:45Speaker 3: So teams that want pass rush they trade both their
- 12:48Speaker 3: pass rushers.
- 12:49Speaker 2: It makes me question, right, why is this on sales?
- 12:52Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 12:53Speaker 3: Why are you giving this away?
- 12:54Speaker 2: Now?
- 12:54Speaker 3: For the Niners, a third round pick isn't too much
- 12:56Speaker 3: for a guy. They are also playing with brock Perty's
- 12:59Speaker 3: rookie quarterback contract, so they've got forty fifty million bucks
- 13:03Speaker 3: under the cap this year, let alone next year because
- 13:06Speaker 3: they're not paying a quarterback. So maybe they can make
- 13:09Speaker 3: it work and make it fit within their soutary structure,
- 13:11Speaker 3: or maybe they figure just a rental. We're just trying
- 13:13Speaker 3: to win the Super Bowl this year.
- 13:14Speaker 4: For the Niners, it's house money if you get four
- 13:16Speaker 4: sacks out of him for a you know, four or
- 13:20Speaker 4: five sacks for a third round pick. But yeah, for
- 13:23Speaker 4: Chase Young, I've got to think there's you know, most
- 13:28Speaker 4: people follow the league sort of at arm's length, meaning
- 13:32Speaker 4: now Chase Young, who was the number one pick, now
- 13:36Speaker 4: he's a.
- 13:36Speaker 2: Third round guy in people's eyes.
- 13:39Speaker 4: He'll be motivated to prove he's not a third round
- 13:41Speaker 4: guy because he's not a third round talent without question.
- 13:44Speaker 4: So for him now, chance to rebuild, you know, I guess,
- 13:47Speaker 4: rebuild the image, rebuild the career.
- 13:49Speaker 3: In this app they should get production from him because,
- 13:52Speaker 3: as I said off the top, when you watch the tape,
- 13:54Speaker 3: you just see nick Bosa flashing all over. He is relentless.
- 13:59Speaker 3: Two years ago here Jawan Taylor man Juwan was living
- 14:03Speaker 3: in Trevor's lap the whole game trying to keep the
- 14:07Speaker 3: quarterback upright because Bosha was pushing so hard. When you've
- 14:10Speaker 3: got that, you've got a slide protection over to help
- 14:12Speaker 3: Anton Harrison, which means Chay Shung's going to get some
- 14:14Speaker 3: one on one opportunities, and he's a talented guy. Cam
- 14:17Speaker 3: Robinson's going to have his hands full on today. They're
- 14:19Speaker 3: going to get some production from him and they'll get
- 14:20Speaker 3: a first hand look at what kind of a person
- 14:22Speaker 3: he is and whether he's a guy they want to
- 14:24Speaker 3: be part of their culture, and they can afford it. Again,
- 14:26Speaker 3: they're working with a rookie quarterback contract next year and
- 14:30Speaker 3: they don't have to worry about paying it now.
- 14:32Speaker 2: Let's make the mistake when I said third round at
- 14:35Speaker 2: when he's right, he's really good. He's really good.
- 14:38Speaker 4: So if they're getting the right version, they have on
- 14:43Speaker 4: paper the most talented pass rush tandem in the league.
- 14:46Speaker 3: It's the right circumstances, right, But they only have two
- 14:49Speaker 3: more sacks than the Jaguars. Too. Were talking about the
- 14:50Speaker 3: Jaguars and how they haven't gotten that number that they'd
- 14:54Speaker 3: like to be at. Well, for all the money they've
- 14:56Speaker 3: spent and all the talent they've got on their defensive line,
- 14:58Speaker 3: John mentioned earlier, they won't. They have eighteen sacks for
- 15:00Speaker 3: the season. They have not gotten home. But that, as
- 15:04Speaker 3: we've seen from the Jaguars, they create enough havoc in
- 15:08Speaker 3: your backfield that the quarterback, at least Joe Burrow was
- 15:10Speaker 3: constantly having to make quick decisions in that Bengals game.
- 15:13Speaker 3: And Burrow is really good at it, so was this guy.
- 15:15Speaker 3: You've got to give him enough time and the receivers
- 15:17Speaker 3: have to have their heads turned around and understand I'm
- 15:20Speaker 3: a hot route. I've got to be ready to catch
- 15:22Speaker 3: the ball.
- 15:23Speaker 2: Yeah. One final thought, talking to jet I mean talking
- 15:26Speaker 2: to forty nine ers.
- 15:26Speaker 4: Media they don't necessarily think they've gotten enough pressure and
- 15:34Speaker 4: that there have been times where the quarterbacks had too
- 15:35Speaker 4: much time to throw. I think the Jaguars, for the
- 15:38Speaker 4: most part, I haven't gotten that feeling. So it'll be
- 15:40Speaker 4: interesting to see if Chase Young gives them that element.
- 15:44Speaker 4: I think that could be a place where if he doesn't,
- 15:48Speaker 4: Jaguars a third down will be key on some One.
- 15:51Speaker 3: Thing to keep in mind as that Bossy was going
- 15:52Speaker 3: for all of camp and then he's just getting up
- 15:55Speaker 3: to speed. He's just had the bye week, so I
- 15:56Speaker 3: would expect that they'll come with everything this Sunday and
- 15:59Speaker 3: he'll be more ready to.
- 16:00Speaker 1: Rush the passer and Chase making his debut because he
- 16:02Speaker 1: was there for the bye week as well, So we'll
- 16:03Speaker 1: see how that goes for them. Our audition at the
- 16:06Speaker 1: trade deadline was sharing up the offensive line. We heard
- 16:09Speaker 1: from Doug talking about this earlier this week about what
- 16:12Speaker 1: he saw on why they added to the offensive line depth.
- 16:16Speaker 6: You know, anytime that you can add you can add depth,
- 16:19Speaker 6: you can add value, you can add a talent like
- 16:22Speaker 6: Ezra to the offensive line really at any position. You know,
- 16:26Speaker 6: it's something that that Trent and I and the guys
- 16:30Speaker 6: looked at you know hard, you know, definitely a lot
- 16:34Speaker 6: of different scenarios out there. You look at you look
- 16:36Speaker 6: at pass rushers, you know, maybe even defensive backs, and
- 16:40Speaker 6: you look at o'lignement, and obviously Ezra is somebody that
- 16:44Speaker 6: can come in and really provide the necessary you know, uh,
- 16:49Speaker 6: backup guard, very capable, smart, talented, you know, left guard
- 16:57Speaker 6: and you know, he played some right guard his rookie year.
- 17:00Speaker 6: He had been been primarily left guard since and just
- 17:05Speaker 6: a good value for us and and really solidifies an
- 17:09Speaker 6: offensive line that you know, is already pretty good.
- 17:14Speaker 1: John Doug Peterson was very emphatic that Walker Little is
- 17:16Speaker 1: a starter on this team and that Azra Cleveland was
- 17:18Speaker 1: brought in as a backup wherever he's going to be
- 17:21Speaker 1: needed on the line. Is this going to be an
- 17:24Speaker 1: issue where we're getting stockpiled in a certain you know,
- 17:27Speaker 1: everybody wants to play left tackle situation? Or is this
- 17:29Speaker 1: going to work out?
- 17:30Speaker 4: Okay at the end of the day, Well, everybody might
- 17:32Speaker 4: want to play left tackle, get to play left tackle. Yeah,
- 17:34Speaker 4: So you know, I'm sure Walker Little, in his heart
- 17:37Speaker 4: of hearts, would like to play left tackle.
- 17:39Speaker 2: It's what he is that that's.
- 17:41Speaker 4: What he's grown up with. But I also think he'll
- 17:43Speaker 4: be fine at left guard. Look, I think I wasn't
- 17:47Speaker 4: sure what they would do. I wasn't sure is Ezra
- 17:49Speaker 4: Cleveland being brought in because they feel like they can
- 17:51Speaker 4: be a better out run.
- 17:52Speaker 2: Blocking team on the interior.
- 17:54Speaker 4: But as Doug said, when they played together, meaning Walker
- 17:57Speaker 4: Little and Cam Robinson on the left side.
- 17:59Speaker 2: In Buffalo for that what snaps, it looked very good.
- 18:04Speaker 4: I think overall, it's what Brian's alluded to, meaning there's
- 18:10Speaker 4: something about the future here that Ezra Cleveland can be
- 18:13Speaker 4: a piece moving forward.
- 18:15Speaker 2: Also, I keep going back. People love to play depth
- 18:19Speaker 2: chart football. I call it meaning when.
- 18:22Speaker 4: A trade's made, like they say, well, this guy's gonna
- 18:24Speaker 4: start here, and start here, and start here. Depth chart
- 18:27Speaker 4: football often doesn't play out on the real field, meaning
- 18:31Speaker 4: you have injuries, you have things that happened, particularly injuries. Well,
- 18:37Speaker 4: last year we saw it. The Jaguars don't make their
- 18:40Speaker 4: run unless they have seven or eight good offensive lineman.
- 18:43Speaker 2: Last year, I.
- 18:44Speaker 4: Think they felt like they needed to get seven or
- 18:47Speaker 4: eight good offensive lineman that they can trust going down
- 18:49Speaker 4: the stretch. I feel like that made them a little nervous,
- 18:53Speaker 4: not feeling like they had that on the interior and
- 18:56Speaker 4: the offensive line.
- 18:57Speaker 3: I don't know how it happened, but I saw a
- 18:58Speaker 3: lot of Minnesota Vikings book early in the season, and
- 19:01Speaker 3: I remember hearing and reading about Cleveland. So when they
- 19:04Speaker 3: traded for him, I wasn't surprised because my understanding is
- 19:08Speaker 3: is he's a pretty good football player. I also know
- 19:11Speaker 3: that he's on the rest of this year as a contract,
- 19:13Speaker 3: and then he's a free agent next year. But I
- 19:15Speaker 3: always saw this as a long term play, right, and
- 19:18Speaker 3: John just made the case for the short term because
- 19:19Speaker 3: you need bodies, and they do. Brandon Sherriff's been playing
- 19:22Speaker 3: with an ankle that has has hindered him, and Tyler
- 19:24Speaker 3: Shatley hasn't shown good movement and you need another body
- 19:28Speaker 3: this year. But Trent Balkey, he treats draft picks or
- 19:33Speaker 3: like their gold to balloons, right. He parts with him
- 19:36Speaker 3: like their manhole covers. They're heavy and laborious. He doesn't
- 19:39Speaker 3: want to do it. He understands the value of them.
- 19:42Speaker 3: So my expectation is is that they'll get him lined
- 19:45Speaker 3: up for next year with a contract and that he
- 19:47Speaker 3: will be the starting left guard going forward. Me just
- 19:51Speaker 3: looking at the salary cap numbers with Cam and Walker
- 19:53Speaker 3: and understanding Walker is, you know, probably the left tackle
- 19:56Speaker 3: of the long term future. Here, I would say that
- 19:58Speaker 3: Cleveland is going to be the starting left guard next year.
- 20:01Speaker 3: Just a projection on my part, but you know you
- 20:03Speaker 3: can kind of see where it fits makes sense.
- 20:05Speaker 1: Yeah, well, we'll see depending on Walker Little's status this
- 20:09Speaker 1: week as well, whether we'll see as we're Cleveland in
- 20:11Speaker 1: there or not, because Walker's been battling that knee injury.
- 20:14Speaker 1: So stay with us. We're going to come back and
- 20:16Speaker 1: go over this or that what we're looking at. For
- 20:17Speaker 1: the forty nine Ers game fans on Tuesday, November fourteenth,
- 20:25Speaker 1: you can go over to Publics at University Square to
- 20:27Speaker 1: meet Jacksonville Jaguars players for a special appearance from five
- 20:30Speaker 1: to six. That's going to be the Publics at twenty
- 20:32Speaker 1: eight to seventy five University Boulevard in Jacksonville on Tuesday,
- 20:35Speaker 1: November fourteenth for from five to six to meet members
- 20:39Speaker 1: of the Jaguars who want to check that out. And
- 20:41Speaker 1: of course we're also brought to you by price dot Com.
- 20:43Speaker 1: It's the easiest way to save money with comparison shopping
- 20:45Speaker 1: cash back coupons all in one.
- 20:47Speaker 2: It's free.
- 20:48Speaker 1: You can try out price dot com today. This christ
- 20:55Speaker 1: dot com brings us this or that this week. As
- 20:57Speaker 1: we look and try to compare a couple of things, Brian,
- 21:00Speaker 1: when are you comparing this week?
- 21:01Speaker 2: Or when do you this or that? As well?
- 21:03Speaker 3: Look with the idea that this should be the Sunday
- 21:06Speaker 3: night game, I'll get pushed back on Shohn from that,
- 21:08Speaker 3: maybe because one o'clock games are much easier, But they
- 21:12Speaker 3: should be the Sunday night game. It is a market matchup,
- 21:15Speaker 3: maybe the market matchup of the weekend for the NFL.
- 21:18Speaker 3: You know, two teams five and three, six and two
- 21:20Speaker 3: coming off thereby San Francisco, Trevor Lawrence. You could easily
- 21:25Speaker 3: move this to Sunday night football. It would not have
- 21:27Speaker 3: been an issue. However, is this a big statement game
- 21:31Speaker 3: for the Jaguars or is it just the next game
- 21:33Speaker 3: on the schedule. It happens to be against the NFC opponent.
- 21:37Speaker 2: I was thinking about this ironically, because I didn't know
- 21:39Speaker 2: this was do this or that.
- 21:43Speaker 4: Your first anting is to say it's the next one,
- 21:46Speaker 4: because the next two after this are actually much more important.
- 21:50Speaker 2: I mean, you got Tennessee and the Texan's coming up.
- 21:53Speaker 4: If you lose this one and win those two, you're
- 21:55Speaker 4: still in great shape in the division, and probably in
- 21:57Speaker 4: better shape than if you lose this one. I mean,
- 21:59Speaker 4: then if you this wan I lose one of those.
- 22:01Speaker 4: But there is something playing at home, playing against a
- 22:07Speaker 4: really good team. They haven't won one of these with
- 22:13Speaker 4: this kind of film. Maybe Dallas last year at home
- 22:16Speaker 4: against a really good team they lost to the Chiefs
- 22:18Speaker 4: earlier this year.
- 22:20Speaker 2: Beating a team like.
- 22:21Speaker 4: That at home and sort of walking off that field
- 22:24Speaker 4: with your fans showing them what you know you are
- 22:30Speaker 4: feels big, but it's not tragic if they lose. And
- 22:35Speaker 4: I'm on both sides of the fence there, but that's
- 22:37Speaker 4: kind of how I see it.
- 22:38Speaker 1: I think it would be a big statement, excuse me,
- 22:40Speaker 1: a big statement game in terms of nationally right, because
- 22:43Speaker 1: it's the forty nine ers, it's a name, and as
- 22:46Speaker 1: we know, a lot of people don't follow Jacksonville around
- 22:48Speaker 1: the league if you're watching it from a national landscape.
- 22:50Speaker 1: So if you can get a win, and specifically, if
- 22:52Speaker 1: you can get a performance out of Trevor Lawrence where
- 22:54Speaker 1: he throws a couple of touchdowns.
- 22:55Speaker 2: I can do a lot for you.
- 22:56Speaker 1: Whether I think that's a big deal or not, I
- 22:58Speaker 1: mean up to you whether you want that national recognition,
- 23:00Speaker 1: But I think performing well against the forty nine ers
- 23:03Speaker 1: might get you that.
- 23:03Speaker 3: I just think you can only have so many statement games, right,
- 23:05Speaker 3: And they had a statement game against the Chiefs, then
- 23:08Speaker 3: they had a statement game against the Bills. They've got
- 23:11Speaker 3: a statement game coming up against the Ravens and the Bengals.
- 23:13Speaker 3: I just I see this as the next game.
- 23:15Speaker 2: You're right.
- 23:16Speaker 3: If they win this game, then it is somewhat of
- 23:19Speaker 3: a statement. But for them, they've got to just be
- 23:21Speaker 3: focused on this being the next game.
- 23:23Speaker 1: I agree with you.
- 23:25Speaker 4: I went with who's done a more pressure Taylor Caldwell,
- 23:28Speaker 4: and I had to say to use the word pressure
- 23:31Speaker 4: there just pressure every week or more stress. They didn't
- 23:36Speaker 4: say pressure, that's it's stressed. Sort of the same thing.
- 23:39Speaker 4: I would say that more stress this week, maybe a
- 23:45Speaker 4: little Mike Caldwell.
- 23:48Speaker 2: Because of having.
- 23:50Speaker 4: To deal with McCaffrey and Deebo Samuel and everything that
- 23:54Speaker 4: Kyle Shanahan brings. There's so many looks. Samuel can play
- 24:01Speaker 4: running back or wide receiver. Christ McCaffer may running back
- 24:04Speaker 4: all right, said there's so many things they can do
- 24:06Speaker 4: at the stress level of trying to figure all that out,
- 24:11Speaker 4: maybe a touch higher for Mike, but the press has
- 24:13Speaker 4: to worry about that pass rush.
- 24:15Speaker 2: Well, that's what I was gonna go to.
- 24:16Speaker 3: You know, I went back and watched the last three
- 24:18Speaker 3: Niners games, and they were all losses. And I know
- 24:22Speaker 3: that the people in San Francisco don't think they're getting
- 24:24Speaker 3: much of a pass rush, but I'm telling you that
- 24:26Speaker 3: the quarterbacks for the three opponents were under pressure almost instantaneously.
- 24:32Speaker 3: And Eric Armstead, if you're not familiar with him, was
- 24:35Speaker 3: a teammate of Devorce Buckner from Indianapolis, both in San
- 24:38Speaker 3: Francisco and in college in Oregon. He's equal to him
- 24:40Speaker 3: in size, and he's equal to him in forest and
- 24:42Speaker 3: Buckner was a game wrecker in those two games. So
- 24:45Speaker 3: you've got a guy in the middle, two guys in
- 24:46Speaker 3: the middle with hard Grave, now two guys on the outside.
- 24:49Speaker 3: I say Phil Rauscher is the guy under the most pressure.
- 24:52Speaker 3: But you know Phil, obviously working in tandem with Press Taylor,
- 24:56Speaker 3: you're gonna have to score, obviously, and if you can't
- 24:58Speaker 3: keep the quarterback upright for two seconds then and look,
- 25:03Speaker 3: no disrespect to the Jaguars offensive line, but this is
- 25:07Speaker 3: as difficult to match up as I think there is
- 25:09Speaker 3: in the NFL. They're that good.
- 25:11Speaker 1: I think for Press Taylor, it's going to be press
- 25:13Speaker 1: tailor until it's not press tailor anymore, until you can
- 25:16Speaker 1: get things totally figured out on offense. Mine is a
- 25:19Speaker 1: little bit more niche, I guess, is what I would say,
- 25:21Speaker 1: because we've been talking about Travis YTN getting fed the
- 25:23Speaker 1: ball as much as he has, and we don't know
- 25:25Speaker 1: if it's going to be consistent throughout the year. So
- 25:27Speaker 1: my role is kind of like we've seen Diarras Johnson
- 25:30Speaker 1: and what he's been able to do in very limited bursts.
- 25:32Speaker 1: But should they try to include him a little bit
- 25:34Speaker 1: more or should they really rely on Tank, who, as
- 25:36Speaker 1: we know, has been having some rookie issues.
- 25:40Speaker 2: Oh great, Ques, we're going well. I think the real
- 25:45Speaker 2: answer is gonna be none of the above.
- 25:47Speaker 1: They're just gonna keep Ridan Travis WN is fair, but.
- 25:49Speaker 4: I think they want to have one of these guys
- 25:52Speaker 4: share the workload. I think when it comes down to
- 25:56Speaker 4: you're in the third quarter and you have a four
- 25:59Speaker 4: point lead and you're third and three, or you have
- 26:01Speaker 4: a big series you want to go with Darnest, you
- 26:06Speaker 4: want to go with Tank, and you say, what.
- 26:08Speaker 2: I really like Travis. It's not really good. I mean,
- 26:11Speaker 2: it's not a knock on those guys.
- 26:12Speaker 4: It's just that right now, Travis is you know, when
- 26:16Speaker 4: you give him the ball, you probably feel better about
- 26:21Speaker 4: the ball in his hands than anybody else on the
- 26:23Speaker 4: offense right now outside Trevor Lawrence for making the play
- 26:27Speaker 4: when you absolutely need it. And in the NFL, guess what,
- 26:30Speaker 4: you usually need those plays because it's it's a game
- 26:33Speaker 4: of you know.
- 26:34Speaker 2: So i'd answer your question. I think they still stick
- 26:37Speaker 2: with Tank.
- 26:38Speaker 4: I think they're not as concerned about all these issues
- 26:42Speaker 4: as the fans are because I think they feel like
- 26:46Speaker 4: a couple of fumbles. It doesn't feel to me Brian
- 26:50Speaker 4: like he's being loose with the ball. I don't think
- 26:51Speaker 4: he's being careless. I think they're a little circumstantial.
- 26:55Speaker 2: That's how they feel about it.
- 26:56Speaker 3: Well, people should remember last year when Travis was a
- 26:59Speaker 3: fumble problem, and I didn't think he was as careful
- 27:02Speaker 3: with the football, especially not in the red zone in
- 27:03Speaker 3: that game against the Giants. He had one against the
- 27:06Speaker 3: Ravens where it was whoa hold on hold that ball came.
- 27:09Speaker 2: Doesn't feel that way, bro doesn't all right.
- 27:11Speaker 3: What I'm saying is is that Travis felt that way,
- 27:14Speaker 3: but he worked his way through it, and now there
- 27:16Speaker 3: isn't anybody that would question that you want the ball
- 27:18Speaker 3: in his hands. I'm not worried about Tank. I think
- 27:21Speaker 3: they'll they'll figure that one out. I'm gonna aswer a
- 27:23Speaker 3: question by saying this. I think Tank is the guy
- 27:26Speaker 3: that you want to get going because I think you
- 27:27Speaker 3: want to use Travis because of his unique skill set.
- 27:31Speaker 3: You can line him up in the slot, you can
- 27:32Speaker 3: line him up wide. We saw the touchdown in Pittsburgh
- 27:35Speaker 3: and what that did. I think if Tank is a
- 27:37Speaker 3: guy who could become more of a feature back that
- 27:40Speaker 3: you can put in the backfield, it will allow Press
- 27:43Speaker 3: to be able to move Travis all over the place
- 27:46Speaker 3: and even take even more advantage of his prodigious talent.
- 27:52Speaker 4: I think Tank's in a little bit of a tough
- 27:54Speaker 4: spot and it'll take a while to get to this point,
- 27:57Speaker 4: But think about Travis this running game right now, they
- 28:01Speaker 4: have a lot of short runs and a lot of
- 28:04Speaker 4: Travis's effectiveness has been Okay, he gets twenty two to
- 28:07Speaker 4: twenty three carries, four or five of them are huge plays,
- 28:10Speaker 4: the other ones starting to get going. Well, Tank's only
- 28:15Speaker 4: getting three or four or five carries, so you don't
- 28:18Speaker 4: have as many opportunities.
- 28:20Speaker 2: Tank has a lot of short runs.
- 28:21Speaker 4: He hasn't had a chance to get to the long
- 28:23Speaker 4: ones the way Travis has. So I think that if
- 28:27Speaker 4: something would happen to Travis, he wasn't able to play.
- 28:31Speaker 4: Give Tank a whole game, and I think it's at
- 28:34Speaker 4: some point you're gonna see a little bit of a
- 28:36Speaker 4: different runner than you've already seen.
- 28:38Speaker 1: I think we talked a lot about the coaching staff
- 28:40Speaker 1: having confidence in him too, which is great to see.
- 28:41Speaker 1: But when you're only getting a couple carries and you're
- 28:44Speaker 1: having issues like that, it's hard to keep your own
- 28:46Speaker 1: confidence in yourself, right, So that's a mental game you
- 28:48Speaker 1: probably have to play with that and the roles that
- 28:50Speaker 1: they're doing with the running backs as well. All right,
- 28:53Speaker 1: stay with us, We're gonna preview the rest of the
- 28:54Speaker 1: week for you. After the break, Daggs fans, We're headed
- 29:13Speaker 1: a String Sports Brewery on Thursday night to watch our

- 29:21Speaker 1: giving you the opportunity. We hope you will bring your

- 29:41Speaker 1: So we're back in the groove today at jag Zam.
- 29:43Speaker 1: Things are gonna be normal here in the Miller Electric Center,
- 29:45Speaker 1: talking to Doug Terbor. Lawrence is gonna speak to us,
- 29:48Speaker 1: and it's the first time we talked to them since
- 29:49Speaker 1: before the bye week, so kind of get back on
- 29:52Speaker 1: track with everything. I'm looking forward to kind of seeing
- 29:54Speaker 1: where everybody's at with the injury process because there's a
- 29:56Speaker 1: bunch of names out there that we missed in that
- 29:58Speaker 1: last game against Pittsburgh that are hopefully to be available
- 30:00Speaker 1: in this one. What are you guys kind of looking
- 30:02Speaker 1: forward to this week or looking to try to figure out.
- 30:04Speaker 2: The same thing.
- 30:05Speaker 4: I expect him to be mostly healthy on Sunday, with
- 30:07Speaker 4: Zay Jones being the big question mark, I'd be kind
- 30:09Speaker 4: of surprised if he plays. Just listen to the tone
- 30:11Speaker 4: of Doug on Monday. But I hope I'm wrong, right,
- 30:15Speaker 4: I hope you are too. I'm going to talk to Nickolts,
- 30:17Speaker 4: the passing game coordinator who replaced.
- 30:23Speaker 2: Bob Cooter, thea you're looking for.
- 30:24Speaker 3: Yeah, that's the names today. Anyway, He's a guy that
- 30:28Speaker 3: I haven't really spoken to yet, and the passing game
- 30:30Speaker 3: is obviously going to be a big part of Sunday
- 30:32Speaker 3: and protecting quarterbacks. So looking forward to getting to know
- 30:34Speaker 3: him a little bit.
- 30:35Speaker 1: Perfect. All right, we'll recap all you guys on everything
- 30:37Speaker 1: tomorrow morning on Jagsam. We'll see then,
