- 0:03Speaker 1: suitable for all audiences. Listener discretion is advised. Welcome to
- 0:10Speaker 1: Patriot's Unfiltered. Mike Lanning literally my Clanning. He's out, like
- 0:17Speaker 1: I think he broke his wrist or something, daving, but
- 0:20Speaker 1: probably like six feet one nine, yeah, like just he's
- 0:24Speaker 1: just thin. Yeah, we'll never know for sure unless we
- 0:27Speaker 1: can measure him somewhere, see him. If you're gonna be
- 0:30Speaker 1: able to do that, I measure you. If ps Paul
- 0:33Speaker 1: has a very good understanding on all the teams by
- 0:36Speaker 1: just watching Red Zone, it's impressive. I don't know how
- 0:39Speaker 1: he cobbles it all together because I watched Red Zone
- 0:41Speaker 1: and it's just a big blur in my mind. Did
- 0:43Speaker 1: you ever see a beautiful mind? You remember that that
- 0:46Speaker 1: second outplaane, then the third quarter and order where they
- 0:48Speaker 1: probably no, I don't. And plus the fact that college
- 0:50Speaker 1: funds are riding on the outfame. Yeah, I think I
- 0:55Speaker 1: I'll be doing like awards. I'll be I'll be giving
- 0:59Speaker 1: my award to give it my awards peeps more than
- 1:01Speaker 1: likely don't look at don't look at my pep. This
- 1:08Speaker 1: is Patriot's unfiltered, fueled by dunking. All right, welcome the
- 1:14Speaker 1: Patriots unfiltered. It's Wednesday here at Gillette Stadium. Are they
- 1:18Speaker 1: in it? Inside? Practicing outside? Practicing the back end? Their
- 1:22Speaker 1: back end, which means I'm back out Now they're back
- 1:24Speaker 1: here in out and be like my old beef with
- 1:27Speaker 1: the cell pelt. Remember we are we out? Yeah? What
- 1:29Speaker 1: are we doing here? Do whatever you want? First they
- 1:32Speaker 1: were in, then they were out. Now they're back in
- 1:34Speaker 1: the whistling. They try to get out and they keep
- 1:36Speaker 1: pulling me back in. Pump up the heat. Maybe they
- 1:39Speaker 1: thought the ring was gonna let up a little bit,
- 1:40Speaker 1: or I don't know what what Hey, there's always a
- 1:43Speaker 1: chance of precipitation in South Florida in the afternoon, so yeah,
- 1:47Speaker 1: you know, now, what's the ventilation like in there? I
- 1:49Speaker 1: don't want them getting sick. It's very high roof, so
- 1:51Speaker 1: it's fine high roof. Um. Welcome to contractors, unfilter side,
- 1:59Speaker 1: right sure? Yeah? Socia Miami, Yeah, yes, is that how
- 2:02Speaker 1: you say socias bob socios Bob socios fils the house
- 2:07Speaker 1: of sociause of socios um from inside the field, So
- 2:12Speaker 1: deuce will be one of the exclusive people inside. Oh
- 2:15Speaker 1: all right, no one's told me I could go. Can
- 2:16Speaker 1: I go? Yeah, you're in. I'm in. I thought you
- 2:19Speaker 1: were out. I was out. No one told me I
- 2:20Speaker 1: should think I was out. To get email Stacey, because
- 2:25Speaker 1: you're on the list to go in, Okay, I'll check
- 2:27Speaker 1: on you, Adler and go gelos. Okay, maybe a conversation
- 2:32Speaker 1: with better. No, you're for sure on the list to
- 2:36Speaker 1: go in, so just just confirm that, but you're in,
- 2:39Speaker 1: can't confirm. I like the little recap yesterday, which reminds
- 2:44Speaker 1: me that you guys are mean to me because I
- 2:46Speaker 1: know stuff because jealousy. No, I think you just out
- 2:50Speaker 1: of mocking, which, in fairness, is how I would do
- 2:54Speaker 1: it to you guys. I mean, I wish I could
- 2:57Speaker 1: recall that stuff. And it seems like you make fun
- 3:00Speaker 1: of me an awful lot. Well, listen, we make fun
- 3:02Speaker 1: of everyone. Very very hurt. I'm very very hurt. Don't
- 3:05Speaker 1: don't get all hardy on me. Oh, I think there's
- 3:08Speaker 1: nothing thin about me right normal, So don't don't start,
- 3:12Speaker 1: you know. Yeah, so we'll leave that to the the
- 3:17Speaker 1: terrestrial mocking and derision, you know from that corner. Yeah, sir,
- 3:22Speaker 1: I will not stand for it. I'm in it as
- 3:24Speaker 1: a compliment. I mean, these weeks end, I have no
- 3:26Speaker 1: idea what happened, and somehow Paul watches all red Zone
- 3:29Speaker 1: and knows everything that happened and can like recall it.
- 3:31Speaker 1: I'm in it as aliment. Remember, I think you might
- 3:34Speaker 1: have a sports idetic memory. Oh, I think that's what
- 3:39Speaker 1: I think that's what you have. You have all things
- 3:41Speaker 1: sports ide Yeah, like photographic. Okay. All I can tell
- 3:45Speaker 1: you is I have an uncanny memory for a lot
- 3:48Speaker 1: of different factoids, none of which have benefited me in
- 3:52Speaker 1: any way, shape or form throughout my life. But although
- 3:56Speaker 1: someone did show, someone did provide a Christmas gift up
- 4:02Speaker 1: in the office. It was left in Eric's area. It
- 4:05Speaker 1: was very mysterious. So we opened it yesterday as a group, Mike,
- 4:09Speaker 1: Rick and I and it's an ESPN trivia game. Oh
- 4:13Speaker 1: I know where that came from. Was that re gift
- 4:16Speaker 1: for you? No, um, it's from Jordan. It was her
- 4:20Speaker 1: gift that she was supposed to do for the Yankee swap.
- 4:23Speaker 1: She never went down. So I said, well, it's good
- 4:26Speaker 1: to roll that away. We'll take that. So good for
- 4:29Speaker 1: the Bullpunports Trivia that mystery is solved. Okay. Um, so
- 4:34Speaker 1: I've declared it. Um, you know at some point, say
- 4:36Speaker 1: in March, you know, when we were kind of yeah,
- 4:42Speaker 1: the negativity on this show sign these two. I don't
- 4:47Speaker 1: know whatever whatever you're running over there, parlo um, but
- 4:51Speaker 1: I've already laid the odds down. It's Parillo against the field.
- 4:55Speaker 1: I'm taking Parillo my money when we get started, I
- 4:59Speaker 1: get started on you know what I'm saying. Hey, I
- 5:01Speaker 1: like that. I like it. Okay, you think a million dollars,
- 5:04Speaker 1: there's nothing, Godfather, I think I think we should do
- 5:07Speaker 1: it on the show. Why not, it's gonna be Parillo.
- 5:10Speaker 1: I mean, that's a foregone. Let's do it on the show.
- 5:12Speaker 1: I'll get all the patriots the patriots questions, and that's
- 5:15Speaker 1: we actually think worse than trivia on the show. No,
- 5:17Speaker 1: but listen, we have we could go with the radio.
- 5:20Speaker 1: We have a on our staff upstairs. We have a
- 5:24Speaker 1: professional trivia host, Ross. Yes, maybe we can have him
- 5:28Speaker 1: come down and he can host it. I like Ross,
- 5:31Speaker 1: and we can do that. Yeah yeah, keep Ross is
- 5:33Speaker 1: wearing leather pants. I think maybe we should fair it
- 5:37Speaker 1: out the questions first though, figure out like pre kind
- 5:40Speaker 1: of screen them, alten them. They've done that to me.
- 5:44Speaker 1: I know that, I know, but not in a bad
- 5:46Speaker 1: way once. Just find some good ones. Now that was funny.
- 5:50Speaker 1: You've heard that story. I have that. Yeah, they got me.
- 5:53Speaker 1: They got me in a funny, Mike, they got me
- 5:55Speaker 1: in a funny So I am good to go. I'm
- 5:59Speaker 1: gonna I'm actually gonna cut out then and just so
- 6:01Speaker 1: I can get over there, because so now you're back in.
- 6:02Speaker 1: It's always a battle to get over to the field house.
- 6:05Speaker 1: So um, I'll go out and check in, right, go
- 6:10Speaker 1: get your jacket. Exclusive. I love it. Exclusive access, so
- 6:15Speaker 1: you know, make sure you do that attendance talking to
- 6:18Speaker 1: himself uttering, I'm walking all right. So what are we?
- 6:27Speaker 1: What are we thinking? What's on our mind? What's what's
- 6:29Speaker 1: the zeitgeist? Well, I uh, as I have now become
- 6:34Speaker 1: want to do. I checked the transaction wire on a
- 6:38Speaker 1: daily basis, either at the end of the day if
- 6:40Speaker 1: I think of it, or the first and uh there
- 6:44Speaker 1: were no transactions COVID related for the Patriots or the
- 6:48Speaker 1: Dolphins yesterday. Nobody put on, nobody taken off. Nothing, nothing
- 6:53Speaker 1: to later in the week that could be able to
- 6:56Speaker 1: play in the game. Could be, although I did see
- 6:58Speaker 1: the Bengals made a rash of moves. Yeah, they did
- 7:01Speaker 1: in that regard. Ye. Yeah, they had a lot of
- 7:04Speaker 1: guys placed on COVID. They had a handful. Yeah. Good,
- 7:09Speaker 1: not good, Bob, Yeah, I mean there there's a there
- 7:11Speaker 1: is this guy is his name Aaron Wilson, the guy
- 7:14Speaker 1: who covers the Texans. But he he you know, he
- 7:17Speaker 1: has a cover of the wire and he'll like go
- 7:19Speaker 1: and be sexist. Yeah. Everybody except for me, Yeah, for
- 7:23Speaker 1: whatever reason, my credentials don't work to get into Okay,
- 7:26Speaker 1: but he no, I'm serious. Everybody else has act Okay.
- 7:28Speaker 1: Well he goes on Twitter and yes, everything, And there
- 7:31Speaker 1: were a lot of there was a lot of activity
- 7:32Speaker 1: yesterday between COVID and injuries and tryouts and visit you know,
- 7:38Speaker 1: visit Yeah, Patriots, you know we weren't active, were not. Yeah.
- 7:42Speaker 1: I think last week Mike Reese had an item about
- 7:45Speaker 1: a I want to say, an offensive lineman from the
- 7:50Speaker 1: CFL that had a visit a tryout of some sort
- 7:55Speaker 1: of workout of some sort. PU does it again? I
- 7:57Speaker 1: answered a question in last week's mail back saying how
- 8:00Speaker 1: can we never consider the CFL? And I said oh,
- 8:02Speaker 1: con Tramo frere YEA. We have had two guys on
- 8:04Speaker 1: this roster in the past who were from the CFL.
- 8:07Speaker 1: They didn't really do anything, but they were here. First.
- 8:09Speaker 1: One of them was the arms Jason Vega, your guy
- 8:12Speaker 1: from Northeastern with Eastern guy and arm In Armstead who
- 8:16Speaker 1: never really saw the field. That was the guy. I
- 8:18Speaker 1: was thinking, Yeah, he had the heart condition and uh,
- 8:21Speaker 1: was only here during the offseason. They went on IR
- 8:23Speaker 1: and then had a settlement and all that. But uh
- 8:26Speaker 1: that we just answered that question and then lo and behold,
- 8:29Speaker 1: they bringing a guy for a tryout. Good on the
- 8:31Speaker 1: Jason Vega. I actually Jason Vegas from Brockton, mass played
- 8:35Speaker 1: at Northeastern right from I'm pretty sure I wrote a
- 8:38Speaker 1: feature on him for the Northeastern magazine one hundred years ago.
- 8:42Speaker 1: Did not know he came from the CFL. Yeah, long
- 8:45Speaker 1: time career there. Um, okay, what else I don't know.
- 8:52Speaker 1: We've just been going over playoffs scenarios, running the numbers there. Bill.
- 8:55Speaker 1: Bill had his press conference just before the show and
- 8:59Speaker 1: talked at length about Dan Reeves who passed away, and
- 9:03Speaker 1: you know, he brought up you know, just you know,
- 9:05Speaker 1: here's another guy who you know, was a pretty good
- 9:09Speaker 1: player and then became a pretty good coach as as well. Well,
- 9:14Speaker 1: let's bring up the topic we were talking on the
- 9:16Speaker 1: way down here then. Yeah, I mean, Peter King wrote
- 9:20Speaker 1: about Dan Reeves a little bit on Monday, and he,
- 9:23Speaker 1: you know, in our buddy in media relations, Aaron Salk
- 9:26Speaker 1: And used to work for Dan Reeves and absolutely loves
- 9:29Speaker 1: the guy. I mean, could not speak any higher of
- 9:31Speaker 1: Dan Reeves, and he's been really trying to get him
- 9:33Speaker 1: in the Hall of Fame for the last couple of cycles.
- 9:37Speaker 1: And I thought it was interesting because Peter King wrote
- 9:41Speaker 1: about this and about his candidacy, and he was a
- 9:43Speaker 1: pretty good player for the Cowboys. Not great, but he
- 9:47Speaker 1: was pretty good, and he was a really good head coach,
- 9:50Speaker 1: but never won the Super Bowl. Right, So he had
- 9:52Speaker 1: four appearances two with the Broncos. He's had nine all together,
- 9:57Speaker 1: counting coach and player, which is like third, Okay of
- 10:01Speaker 1: all time. Yeah. Um, So Peter King was explaining that
- 10:09Speaker 1: the Pro Football Hall of Fame does not allow them
- 10:12Speaker 1: to vote on candidacy as one, so you can't say
- 10:16Speaker 1: Dan I mean, obviously, Dan Reyes wouldn't be a Hall
- 10:19Speaker 1: of Fame player right, but does his success as a
- 10:22Speaker 1: player augment his resume as a coach? Not allowed to
- 10:26Speaker 1: do it that way? Right, You have to win as
- 10:27Speaker 1: one thing. You have to separate them. I don't think
- 10:30Speaker 1: we were talking about it as the show started. I
- 10:32Speaker 1: kind of think it should count. I think it should
- 10:35Speaker 1: be your I think you put in a great phrase, right,
- 10:37Speaker 1: your contributions to football. It's the Pro Football Hall of
- 10:40Speaker 1: Fame right in totality, and I think it should be.
- 10:43Speaker 1: I think everything should be included. Well, for example, even
- 10:45Speaker 1: with owners. Okay, so Robert Kraft, right, his contribution, like
- 10:51Speaker 1: I think his contribution to the Patriots winning should be
- 10:55Speaker 1: less of a factor than his contribution as a whole
- 10:58Speaker 1: as an owner, know, the broadcast deal that he did,
- 11:02Speaker 1: and the CBA that he was involved, you know, and
- 11:05Speaker 1: that type of thing, and so you know, so even owners,
- 11:10Speaker 1: you look at it their contribution to their own team,
- 11:13Speaker 1: but then their contribution to pro football as a whole,
- 11:17Speaker 1: you know. And I think that's fair to look at
- 11:19Speaker 1: both for owners, and I think when it comes to
- 11:22Speaker 1: you know, coaches and or players, I think it's the
- 11:25Speaker 1: same thing. And you know, even with players, you know,
- 11:29Speaker 1: you're supposed to vote for them as a position, right,
- 11:34Speaker 1: But like a guy like Gino, for example, Cappelletti, you know,
- 11:39Speaker 1: from what I've been told, had been hurt because he
- 11:42Speaker 1: wasn't the greatest kicker and he wasn't the greatest receiver.
- 11:45Speaker 1: But when you combine all the points that he had
- 11:48Speaker 1: for both, no one in the AFC had more, right, AFL,
- 11:53Speaker 1: I'm sorry, and in the AFL had more so the
- 11:56Speaker 1: leading in history. Right, So he got hurt because it
- 12:00Speaker 1: came from two different positions, and maybe that should be
- 12:04Speaker 1: changed too. It's like your total contribution. Yeah, but I
- 12:07Speaker 1: don't think that. I don't think those two things are
- 12:09Speaker 1: the same. I don't think Gino's hurt because it comes
- 12:11Speaker 1: from j different positions. You don't know. I mean, it's
- 12:13Speaker 1: all counts. But as a player, no, but I was
- 12:15Speaker 1: told I would say he's probably not a Hall of
- 12:17Speaker 1: Famer because of that. Like he wasn't great at either one, right,
- 12:23Speaker 1: and I was always That probably makes him not a
- 12:25Speaker 1: Hall of Fame player. I can't speak intelligently on I mean,
- 12:28Speaker 1: I love Gino to death. I mean we used to,
- 12:31Speaker 1: you know, travel together when Gil and Gino were a tandem.
- 12:35Speaker 1: We all love the guy. Yeah, I mean the guy
- 12:37Speaker 1: was just class, yes, class, alt to the earth kind
- 12:40Speaker 1: of guy. Enjoyed listening to him tell stories. I really
- 12:43Speaker 1: really think the world of Gino. But I can't speak
- 12:46Speaker 1: intelligently on his Hall of Fame Candidas. I never saw
- 12:48Speaker 1: the man play right he played in the sixties. I
- 12:50Speaker 1: was not there. I know I'm being around here for
- 12:53Speaker 1: a long time, but I can't speak intelligently on his candidacy.
- 12:56Speaker 1: But I would take a step back and say, so,
- 13:00Speaker 1: if he was just a kicker, he's not. He wasn't
- 13:03Speaker 1: a good enough kicker to be a Hall of Famer.
- 13:05Speaker 1: If he was just a wide receiver, he's not a
- 13:07Speaker 1: good enough wide receiver, right, which means he's probably not
- 13:10Speaker 1: a good enough player. He just kind of was a no,
- 13:13Speaker 1: I don't want to say, a gimmick, but just because
- 13:15Speaker 1: he had that that unique trait that he did both
- 13:19Speaker 1: during the ten years that the FL you know what
- 13:21Speaker 1: I'm saying, Like there's a lot of like individual things
- 13:24Speaker 1: that he was the only one of. Well, yeah, but
- 13:26Speaker 1: then allowed him to be the leading scorer in AFL history.
- 13:28Speaker 1: But then but then that that that brings us to
- 13:30Speaker 1: the Reeves discussion, and people like him, like like your
- 13:35Speaker 1: point Reeves wasn't necessarily a Hall of Fame player. No,
- 13:39Speaker 1: it wasn't necessarily a Hall of Fame coach. Oh, so
- 13:43Speaker 1: I think he. I think he is a Hall of
- 13:44Speaker 1: Fame coach. That's that's why would just forgetting to the
- 13:47Speaker 1: Super Bowls and winning whatever the ninth most games in
- 13:50Speaker 1: history or something like that. Yeah, I mean, I think
- 13:52Speaker 1: he's so one of the ten best coaches was ever coached. Okay,
- 13:56Speaker 1: I mean, like, to me, the reason he's not in yeah,
- 13:58Speaker 1: pretty simple because he didn't win. I don't want it.
- 14:00Speaker 1: Yeah see, and I don't. I don't go by just
- 14:02Speaker 1: the school board, right, like a lot of other people,
- 14:04Speaker 1: Like just like everything else, I think there's too many
- 14:06Speaker 1: in the Hall of Fame and I think the bar's
- 14:08Speaker 1: too low, Like Marvel Levy to me, shouldn't be a
- 14:10Speaker 1: Hall of Fame coach, but he is, and if he is,
- 14:13Speaker 1: then Dan Reeves Okay. So I yeah, specifically about the
- 14:19Speaker 1: like I heard people talking about, like, so where do
- 14:21Speaker 1: you put Dan Reeves? You know, like a lot of
- 14:23Speaker 1: the stuff. And I hear my buddy, maz who I'm
- 14:25Speaker 1: gonna go and yell at later today? Um, you know
- 14:28Speaker 1: he's talking about what I think of his loser loser
- 14:31Speaker 1: in the sup Like, so you win all these games,
- 14:34Speaker 1: you get you get to the championship. Yeah, and you
- 14:37Speaker 1: look and and just like just out of curiosity, what
- 14:40Speaker 1: was the game that the Broncos of the eighties was
- 14:44Speaker 1: supposed to win? When that they lost in the Super Bowl? Like?
- 14:47Speaker 1: Was it the Joe Montana Niners? They was supposed to
- 14:50Speaker 1: be Joe Gibbs Redskins, right, Like sometimes I think you
- 14:55Speaker 1: take a step back and you're like, wow, yeah, Reeves
- 14:59Speaker 1: an Elway were pretty special and somehow dragged what I
- 15:03Speaker 1: thought was a pretty average team through admittedly a pretty
- 15:07Speaker 1: average AFC at the time, and they were able to
- 15:10Speaker 1: get to the Super Bowl three times. Arms crush though,
- 15:13Speaker 1: that's even but that's before that's that's right now, that's right, right, yep,
- 15:17Speaker 1: that's see. This is when Mike could be like Creg
- 15:22Speaker 1: Morton right quarterback. But the three trips that they lost
- 15:26Speaker 1: in the eighties, um, they weren't as good as the
- 15:30Speaker 1: times they were playing in the Super Bowl. Like it's
- 15:32Speaker 1: not like they got to the big game. And you
- 15:33Speaker 1: could make an argument that Marv Levy's Bills choked the Giants.
- 15:37Speaker 1: They were much better yeah, Giants. Yeah, without Sims, there's
- 15:41Speaker 1: no way they should have lost that game right now,
- 15:43Speaker 1: They probably shouldn't have lost it anyway, but they did. Yeah,
- 15:47Speaker 1: you know, and then when they get blasted by Dallas
- 15:49Speaker 1: a couple of times, Dallas was better than them, right yep.
- 15:53Speaker 1: I think they probably should have beaten the Redskins the Bills. Yeah,
- 15:57Speaker 1: but but that's my point. They didn't. I think Levi
- 16:01Speaker 1: was caught the wave there. He had a great team,
- 16:03Speaker 1: great person, you know, great players. They were fucking whoa
- 16:09Speaker 1: sorry who unnecessary one. However, that came out of nowhere.
- 16:14Speaker 1: They were they were loaded. We get that post that
- 16:21Speaker 1: pot um. Yeah, but they were loaded. So you can
- 16:26Speaker 1: make it hang up on the guy. You can make
- 16:29Speaker 1: the case that Levy was a beneficiary of that, you know,
- 16:32Speaker 1: like pow Ian put it all the game Smiles said
- 16:35Speaker 1: that Levi used to listen to classical music on his
- 16:37Speaker 1: headset during the game. Yeah. I never heard that. Yeah. Yeah,
- 16:42Speaker 1: and again I'm not telling you like I would have
- 16:45Speaker 1: to watch the games, like I don't feel like watching
- 16:48Speaker 1: the games. You knew him as much about the coaches
- 16:51Speaker 1: like growing up as you feel like you do now
- 16:54Speaker 1: that we work in right, yeah, in the league in
- 16:56Speaker 1: some way. Um, I think we kind of watched the
- 16:59Speaker 1: decision is a little bit more closely and scrutinized things
- 17:01Speaker 1: a little bit more closely than we ever did. Yeah. Yeah,
- 17:05Speaker 1: but you know, so I getting back to the whole
- 17:08Speaker 1: premise of the discussion is I do think it's your
- 17:11Speaker 1: total contribution to pro football. Well, and the other thing
- 17:14Speaker 1: with Reeves, like just you know, like I think Marv
- 17:17Speaker 1: Levy was sort of average at best when he was
- 17:19Speaker 1: the Kansas City coach, Like he never really won anything there, right, right,
- 17:23Speaker 1: And then he went to four titles in a row
- 17:24Speaker 1: with Buffalo to your point, with a team that was loaded. Yeah,
- 17:27Speaker 1: used a little bit more colorful language. Yeah, Dan Reeves,
- 17:33Speaker 1: he builds a really good team in Denver, goes to
- 17:35Speaker 1: three titles, they lose them all. He goes to the
- 17:37Speaker 1: Giants and completely resurrects them after Parcels had left. Remember
- 17:41Speaker 1: he fell apart with right Hanley, Yeah, and he had
- 17:43Speaker 1: to build it back up again. He got really good.
- 17:46Speaker 1: I forgot about that point. Then he went to Atlanta
- 17:48Speaker 1: and went to another super Bowl with the Falcons. Right, Oh,
- 17:51Speaker 1: I thought you were saying something else there. I think
- 17:53Speaker 1: what I leave that to Fred. Yeah, so I think
- 17:57Speaker 1: I mean, I think even though we we like to
- 17:59Speaker 1: tease our friend Aaron in media relations about it, I
- 18:02Speaker 1: think he's probably right. I think he's probably uh. I
- 18:05Speaker 1: think him and Marty Schottenheimer are two guys that just
- 18:08Speaker 1: don't get there due because they never won. Yeah. Now,
- 18:11Speaker 1: like and you know, I've always liked Andy Reid. I
- 18:13Speaker 1: was just gonna say Andy Reid, Now no one does
- 18:16Speaker 1: that to him anymore because he won. Is he a
- 18:19Speaker 1: better coach today than he was before he won that title? Right?
- 18:21Speaker 1: Bud Grant is he's in the Hall of Fame. Right,
- 18:23Speaker 1: He's another one that never won. He is in the
- 18:25Speaker 1: Hall of Fame. Yeah, and Mike you can compare his
- 18:29Speaker 1: record absolutely to Vikings never won it. Yeah, you can
- 18:33Speaker 1: compare me either to leave you or to that's true
- 18:35Speaker 1: to Dan Reeves. Yeah, a lot of stuff. I think.
- 18:37Speaker 1: I think that whole you know, whether it's football or baseball,
- 18:41Speaker 1: it's just so political and the writers have their agendas,
- 18:46Speaker 1: you know. Now, you know the thing they were talking
- 18:48Speaker 1: about this morning is you know they're not going to
- 18:50Speaker 1: vote Aaron Rodgers for MVP because one of the guys
- 18:53Speaker 1: said it. I forget which writer. I'm not going to
- 18:55Speaker 1: vote for him because he's a bad guy. He lied
- 18:57Speaker 1: about his vaccine. Really, do you have any doubt that
- 19:01Speaker 1: will happen? Oh no, that's what I'm saying. It's it's
- 19:03Speaker 1: like that people will not vote for them, will do
- 19:05Speaker 1: that or you know, yeah, yeah, I have no doubt.
- 19:10Speaker 1: I have no doubt. I'll bite my tongue, you know what.
- 19:12Speaker 1: The most media members, yeah, I know, I know, But
- 19:17Speaker 1: hold it again, they're holier than that. Like they're absolutely there.
- 19:20Speaker 1: They're moral arbiters of of you know, correct. I actually
- 19:24Speaker 1: like somebody tweets something about Novak Djokovic this morning. Yeah
- 19:27Speaker 1: I saw that. Yeah, didn't care for it, you know, so,
- 19:30Speaker 1: like that's not your job is to judge him on
- 19:34Speaker 1: this other stuff. It's to judge him on football. And
- 19:37Speaker 1: if you think he's the most valuable player, right stop.
- 19:40Speaker 1: But I think, full stop vote for him. But you
- 19:43Speaker 1: know what, Fred, You're right, But I think the journalistic
- 19:47Speaker 1: culture we have today is such that people can't separate
- 19:52Speaker 1: the art from the artist. They can't look at just
- 19:56Speaker 1: the body of work and judge it on that. They
- 19:58Speaker 1: have to include the person and all of their political No,
- 20:00Speaker 1: they probably do. But you know, and that's that's wrong.
- 20:02Speaker 1: But it's to me, if you're a journalist, you're supposed
- 20:04Speaker 1: to look at things impartially to me, it's just I
- 20:07Speaker 1: need to be more important than I. Really. They want
- 20:10Speaker 1: to be activists, they want to be journalist. You're not that,
- 20:12Speaker 1: you know, you're You're just a journalist, that's all. And
- 20:16Speaker 1: when it comes to sports, I even hesitate to use
- 20:18Speaker 1: the word journalist because few of them are journalists. You know.
- 20:24Speaker 1: When I think of journalists, I think of uncovering the truth,
- 20:28Speaker 1: whichever way it is. Yes, exactly, give me the facts, man, exactly,
- 20:32Speaker 1: which is why, like, now, look at Aaron Rodgers this season,
- 20:35Speaker 1: strong case to be made for MVP, along with guys
- 20:39Speaker 1: like Jonathan Taylor or even Derrick Henry who's on IR now.
- 20:42Speaker 1: But I mean, like, if you don't look at the person,
- 20:46Speaker 1: you have to look at the body of work. Yeah,
- 20:48Speaker 1: and he put together an MVP type campaign this year, right,
- 20:53Speaker 1: So like and there's like, if you want to tell
- 20:56Speaker 1: me that Cooper Cup is more valuable, it's a legitimate argument, Yeah,
- 20:59Speaker 1: you and make that. I but you know, yeah, I
- 21:03Speaker 1: just don't like the notion of I'm going to vote
- 21:05Speaker 1: for Taylor or a cup because they got vaccinated, right, yeah, right,
- 21:10Speaker 1: or you know they didn't lie about getting better like okay,
- 21:13Speaker 1: And by the way, did he lie? Technically he didn't lie,
- 21:15Speaker 1: he misled. He never said he was vaccinated, right, he said.
- 21:18Speaker 1: But I don't care if he lied or not, Like,
- 21:20Speaker 1: that's not for me to decide, right, I'm that that's
- 21:24Speaker 1: but I mean, we're just throwing it out there that
- 21:25Speaker 1: he did. I don't even know if he did, he
- 21:27Speaker 1: would I think the guy he misled, but he misled
- 21:30Speaker 1: the media, right, He didn't mislead the packers or the NFL. Right,
- 21:34Speaker 1: And the media could have followed up the obvious follow
- 21:36Speaker 1: up question was what do you mean by immunized? Yeah, exactly,
- 21:39Speaker 1: And they didn't do it. And he said afterwards, if
- 21:41Speaker 1: someone had asked me that, I would have said what
- 21:43Speaker 1: it was, right, But nobody asked, right, So he's not
- 21:46Speaker 1: going to volunteer the information exactly exactly. So anyway, we're
- 21:50Speaker 1: you know that, Yeah, kind of took a left turn there,
- 21:53Speaker 1: But this is what happens in week eighteen when you
- 21:56Speaker 1: got a playoffs he'd wrapped up. Listen, you know we
- 21:59Speaker 1: talked yesterday. You know, do you think Miami's gonna be
- 22:02Speaker 1: all in. I think they will be. I think they're
- 22:04Speaker 1: gonna whoever plays will be they're gonna be playing a win. Yeah. Um,
- 22:07Speaker 1: and like you said, you haven't they haven't been licking
- 22:10Speaker 1: the COVID poll in Miami. Well yeah, yeah yet all right,
- 22:15Speaker 1: today is also the big testing so far. Yeah, you know,
- 22:18Speaker 1: so maybe today there'll be more. Yeah, but they're not
- 22:21Speaker 1: testing unless you have symptoms right anymore. And I think
- 22:25Speaker 1: that's what happened to some teams is they started running
- 22:29Speaker 1: in on like Thursday and Friday. Oh yeah, I don't
- 22:31Speaker 1: feel good. I don't feel good. But you still have
- 22:32Speaker 1: to test positive. You know, you can't just say you're Oh.
- 22:35Speaker 1: I think if you tested every player in the league
- 22:37Speaker 1: right now, you get an overwhelming percentage that I know.
- 22:39Speaker 1: It just seems like we probably have it three of
- 22:41Speaker 1: us right now sitting here. I saw something in the
- 22:44Speaker 1: news last night, and I forget the exact numbers, but
- 22:47Speaker 1: it was like the average day, like you know, they're
- 22:50Speaker 1: the lines for testing centers and whatnot are just astronomical
- 22:56Speaker 1: right now because they can't handle it the average day
- 22:59Speaker 1: during the original surge like back in well, yeah, you know,
- 23:06Speaker 1: and in that time was something like fourteen hundred a day.
- 23:10Speaker 1: Oh and by the way, now we're talking about like
- 23:13Speaker 1: tens of thousands a day. No wonder, there's a surge.
- 23:16Speaker 1: By the way, I need to defend you, Paul, because
- 23:18Speaker 1: you you me, you had a story. Maybe it was
- 23:21Speaker 1: last week about beds at MGH no no, and somebody
- 23:24Speaker 1: vents vents, and and somebody said, you shouldn't be just
- 23:28Speaker 1: throwing that stuff out there. Paul, isn't just throwing it
- 23:30Speaker 1: out there? Can I say why? You know? I know
- 23:33Speaker 1: people that work there. Yeah, all right, so it's not
- 23:38Speaker 1: you know, this isn't just Paul just throwing things out
- 23:40Speaker 1: And that was at a particular time like that might
- 23:43Speaker 1: not be the case now. No, But it was like
- 23:45Speaker 1: two weeks ago that that was an anecdote that was
- 23:48Speaker 1: told eighty seven of the eighty eight vents were occupied.
- 23:51Speaker 1: I think it was eighty six of eighty seven, Okay,
- 23:53Speaker 1: occupied by unvaccinated people. And I think somebody else said
- 23:56Speaker 1: that this has become a pandemic of the unvaccinated. Oh yeah,
- 24:00Speaker 1: I mean, if you're vaccinated, you're gonna be okay. If
- 24:03Speaker 1: you're un vaccinated, you still have to worry about and
- 24:06Speaker 1: by okay, by okay, that doesn't mean you're not going
- 24:09Speaker 1: to get it. Means if you get it, you're gonna
- 24:11Speaker 1: be right. I don't even I don't even think that
- 24:14Speaker 1: your chances of getting it are probably significantly less, right,
- 24:17Speaker 1: but your chances of getting sick or astronomically less right. Right.
- 24:20Speaker 1: So it's anyway, every time we bring this up, people
- 24:24Speaker 1: yell at us. So I'm not gonna belabor it, right.
- 24:26Speaker 1: I mean, it's hard to it, it's impossible to get it.
- 24:29Speaker 1: People are fed up because they've made it about themselves.
- 24:33Speaker 1: Like I don't I say this all the time. I
- 24:36Speaker 1: got vaccinated. My whole family is gonna vaccinate my wife is.
- 24:40Speaker 1: I mean, obviously people are stupid. They know that that's
- 24:43Speaker 1: the person who works at match. They're required to get
- 24:45Speaker 1: the booster, right, which just just came out like this week,
- 24:49Speaker 1: But she was already boosted anyway, I've gotten the booster.
- 24:52Speaker 1: My son's gonna get the booster within a week. Like
- 24:56Speaker 1: I believe in medicine. I do. Doesn't mean everybody else
- 25:00Speaker 1: us to think the way I think. Yeah, it's a
- 25:02Speaker 1: personal choice. I don't understand why. You know, most people
- 25:06Speaker 1: have decided not to because I feel like it's more
- 25:08Speaker 1: of no one's gonna tell me what to do. It's
- 25:10Speaker 1: not of any right conviction. Right so anyway, all right,
- 25:15Speaker 1: but people just lose their minds if you don't believe
- 25:17Speaker 1: the way they believe, they lose their minds. Back to football,
- 25:22Speaker 1: Back to football. Um so, uh, I think it was.
- 25:28Speaker 1: I think it was show friend Mike Giardi today, friend
- 25:32Speaker 1: very much. Yeah, put on today's Bill Belichick. He he
- 25:38Speaker 1: uh brought out the statistic that Miami Blitz is more
- 25:41Speaker 1: than any other team in the NFL, and uh, you know,
- 25:45Speaker 1: Bill was saying, you know, we know that. Um but
- 25:48Speaker 1: he also said that, you know, he thinks we're ready
- 25:50Speaker 1: for that. It's not like there's gonna be stuff that
- 25:53Speaker 1: we haven't seen yet. You know, it might come in
- 25:56Speaker 1: different ways, but he thinks we're pretty prepared for that.
- 25:59Speaker 1: And he thinks overall that the team has done a
- 26:02Speaker 1: pretty good job when it comes to extra pressure picking
- 26:05Speaker 1: it up and dealing with it. Including Mac. Yeah. You know,
- 26:08Speaker 1: I would say I was very concerned call it the
- 26:12Speaker 1: first six or so games of the season about Max's
- 26:17Speaker 1: and that has settled down quite a bit. Yeah, he
- 26:19Speaker 1: still gets sacked at least once a game when Caras
- 26:23Speaker 1: was inserted. I agree with that. Yeah, I agree. Uh,
- 26:26Speaker 1: you know, the types of hits, the types of sex
- 26:28Speaker 1: he's taking are not as vicious as they seemed to
- 26:31Speaker 1: be in the beginning of the season when we thought,
- 26:33Speaker 1: how's this kid gonna last an entire season with these
- 26:36Speaker 1: rockets that he's taking. But I think that's that's accurate. Um.
- 26:41Speaker 1: But you know, no surprise with Miami being such a
- 26:44Speaker 1: blitzing team when Flores for that one season was the
- 26:48Speaker 1: de facto defensive coordinator here as linebackers coach, there was
- 26:52Speaker 1: a noticeable change in the aggressive nature of this defense. Yeah,
- 26:56Speaker 1: he absolutely Yeah. So I don't find that prising at
- 27:00Speaker 1: all that his dolphins are now. I think that the
- 27:02Speaker 1: offensive line, I agree with you, Freddie with Carris, I
- 27:05Speaker 1: think they've done a better job since he got inserted,
- 27:08Speaker 1: and I think it's even gotten better when Trent Brown
- 27:10Speaker 1: came back. They've done a better job of eliminating some
- 27:14Speaker 1: of those runaway rushing kind of situations. I do think
- 27:18Speaker 1: that's still been a problem at times for Mac. I
- 27:21Speaker 1: think that when when it has broken free and caused him,
- 27:25Speaker 1: I think that's still an issue for him. Yeah, so
- 27:27Speaker 1: I think that's a good thing for him Sunday to
- 27:30Speaker 1: see it, you know, and maybe he's you see how
- 27:33Speaker 1: much better he can handle it. I actually thought he
- 27:35Speaker 1: handled it reasonably well in the first game. Yeah, week
- 27:38Speaker 1: one out of the shoote. Now it'd be interesting to
- 27:40Speaker 1: sort of measure that and see because you know, not
- 27:44Speaker 1: obviously all the same guys, but a lot of same personnel.
- 27:48Speaker 1: That was kind of striking when I was doing the
- 27:50Speaker 1: matchups for this game. I look back at the game
- 27:53Speaker 1: book from week one and it's almost the entire defense
- 27:57Speaker 1: for Miami is It's like a name or two here
- 28:00Speaker 1: or there, but a lot of the same names started
- 28:03Speaker 1: in week one that started in a week for them seventeen. Yeah, yep.
- 28:08Speaker 1: I mean the Patriots are in kind of the same
- 28:09Speaker 1: boat in terms of ye I mean the lost Jones Um. Yeah, yeah. Now,
- 28:15Speaker 1: the Dolphins have had a lot of injuries on offense, um,
- 28:18Speaker 1: but the defense, like it's it's ogba Um and the Roberts,
- 28:23Speaker 1: the rookie Phillips, Christian Wilkins upfront with Roberts and Jerome
- 28:28Speaker 1: Baker and linebacker Um. The secondary is Avian Howard Byron Jones.
- 28:33Speaker 1: That that those those guys have been in there a lot. Um.
- 28:37Speaker 1: Javon Holland has been a good young safety for them, rookie,
- 28:40Speaker 1: I think, his second rounder out of Oregon. Um he's played.
- 28:42Speaker 1: He didn't play much in the first he didn't play
- 28:44Speaker 1: as much out of the shooting in week one, but
- 28:47Speaker 1: he's been a good guy. Nick need Him is one
- 28:48Speaker 1: of their UM you know, Nickel guys. He plays a lot. Yeah,
- 28:53Speaker 1: that name the outside backers. Van Ginkle is one of them,
- 28:56Speaker 1: um and the same same kind of guys, Yeah, which
- 28:59Speaker 1: is good. I think that if they if they're able
- 29:02Speaker 1: to play this week, I think it's a good test
- 29:04Speaker 1: to see the progress that Mac has made from week
- 29:06Speaker 1: one to now. Yeah. And you know, sometimes teams change
- 29:11Speaker 1: things up, you know, the second time around. You don't
- 29:14Speaker 1: want to give the team the same look. But if
- 29:16Speaker 1: that's who they are, if they're a pressure team, you
- 29:18Speaker 1: can bet that they'll probably pressure again. We wouldn't, you mean,
- 29:21Speaker 1: on the surface, the Miami's past defense is pretty good statistically,
- 29:24Speaker 1: and I think they're probably a part of that is
- 29:27Speaker 1: the corners are pretty good. Yeah. Yeah, So that's the
- 29:31Speaker 1: way I would do it a lot. I would take
- 29:32Speaker 1: a team like the Patriots who's probably not going to
- 29:34Speaker 1: kill you with a lot of chunk plays. Blitz cover
- 29:38Speaker 1: man to man on the outside and take your chances.
- 29:41Speaker 1: If they start, you know, burning you a little bit,
- 29:43Speaker 1: then you got to adjust. There's your Miami Dolphins minute. Yeah,
- 29:48Speaker 1: for this week's game, all right, Eight five five past
- 29:52Speaker 1: five hundred is the eighth taken outline. Eight five five
- 29:54Speaker 1: past five hundred. By the way, So Eric was saying, oh,
- 29:58Speaker 1: there might be a snowstorm Sunday, so Saturday Friday, So
- 30:01Speaker 1: I went, I say, I better start up the snowblower.
- 30:04Speaker 1: Started up, No problem, won't move, the wheels won't engage
- 30:09Speaker 1: like it won't. Oh yeah, so now try to get
- 30:12Speaker 1: somebody to fix a snowblower. Forget it in the summer.
- 30:19Speaker 1: You gotta get a tune up in the summer. They
- 30:21Speaker 1: can't even pick it up for ten days. Oh so
- 30:24Speaker 1: I got shovels over there. Now, you brothers up in
- 30:27Speaker 1: the North Shore would take care of you, except for
- 30:29Speaker 1: that would cost you ahenomenal leg well literally, yeah, Well
- 30:32Speaker 1: they're not going down break and they break your leg.
- 30:35Speaker 1: Anyone on the Cape that fix a snowblowers, this is
- 30:37Speaker 1: a call for help. Yeah, I did that, and so
- 30:41Speaker 1: you go online it's like, Okay, maybe it's the friction disc,
- 30:45Speaker 1: maybe it's the belt. I ain't going in there, right,
- 30:49Speaker 1: I ain't going in there. I'm looking at the all
- 30:51Speaker 1: all you do is this, and this is this? Are
- 30:52Speaker 1: you kidding me? I think it's the bypass line. Yeah,
- 30:56Speaker 1: I'm not doing Yeah, that's for the profess All right,
- 31:01Speaker 1: let's go, let's let's I do like fixing things, but
- 31:04Speaker 1: this one was too much. I did start my snowblower
- 31:07Speaker 1: a couple of weeks ago when we were supposed to
- 31:08Speaker 1: get a little just in case it was more than
- 31:10Speaker 1: they said. I wanted to be ready. Yeah. I was
- 31:13Speaker 1: pleasantly surprised. I had no issues. Um, let's go to
- 31:17Speaker 1: the phones. We'll start with Sean and Vancouver. What's up, Sean, Eric,
- 31:24Speaker 1: I wanna thank you for helping with the contract for Phillips.
- 31:29Speaker 1: That's a much Yeah, my my pleasure. Yeah, whatever I favor. Now,
- 31:33Speaker 1: could you please interview J. C. Jackson? Uh, yeah, sure,
- 31:39Speaker 1: we'll put that request in. Okay. Uh. The other thing,
- 31:44Speaker 1: you predicted a closer score against the Jaguars, were you
- 31:49Speaker 1: Were you surprised by the blow? Not really, I was
- 31:53Speaker 1: just kind of I tend to when I have a
- 31:56Speaker 1: feeling at the beginning of the week, I tend to
- 31:58Speaker 1: stick with it regardless of what happened during the week.
- 32:01Speaker 1: I'm a little stubborn that way. This is the guy
- 32:03Speaker 1: who's winning the picture. So no, I just I just
- 32:08Speaker 1: kind of stuckled it play. I had some games to
- 32:10Speaker 1: give away in that department anyway, So sorry, all right, good.
- 32:18Speaker 1: I'm watching the broadcast and the announcers were quoting players
- 32:23Speaker 1: saying how this week the intensity was going to carry
- 32:26Speaker 1: them and they were't going to make mistakes. I'm wondering
- 32:28Speaker 1: why they didn't have that same energy and intensity to
- 32:31Speaker 1: start the games against the Colds of the Bill because
- 32:34Speaker 1: they lost. Well that's the thing, you know, they probably did,
- 32:37Speaker 1: but they got behind and so it looks like the
- 32:40Speaker 1: other teams rolling on them. And like I like I
- 32:42Speaker 1: said it during the game, and since then we get
- 32:46Speaker 1: we can't forget those games where the Patriots are the
- 32:48Speaker 1: ones that get the block punt and they start rolling
- 32:51Speaker 1: and it's a snowball effect. I don't think those teams
- 32:53Speaker 1: came out flat, like they've had a handful of games
- 32:56Speaker 1: like that, Like like it's just the Patriots got on
- 32:57Speaker 1: top of a Cleveland game, right, Yeah, took the opening kickoff,
- 33:01Speaker 1: went seventy five yards, scored a touchdown, and went up
- 33:03Speaker 1: seven nothing. The Patriots matched it, right, So who came
- 33:05Speaker 1: out with more intensity? It's easier to focus when you
- 33:10Speaker 1: have a lesser opponent and you could go up yeah. Yeah,
- 33:15Speaker 1: for all we know, the Patriots were going half speed.
- 33:17Speaker 1: But the you know, Jackson was just so bad. And
- 33:20Speaker 1: when I listen, I don't think you can play Sean
- 33:23Speaker 1: to you a point, I don't think you could play
- 33:24Speaker 1: seventeen straight games with the same highest possible level of intensity.
- 33:29Speaker 1: There's sure to be some ebbs and flows in that department.
- 33:33Speaker 1: But I kind of agree with Fred. I think you
- 33:36Speaker 1: could make an argument that one of those games Indian
- 33:39Speaker 1: and Buffalo, and I would say, Indie, you know, they
- 33:42Speaker 1: may have been like a slippage, but I don't think
- 33:44Speaker 1: that it was like a lack of effort slash intensity
- 33:47Speaker 1: against Buffalo. I just think they got beat. Yeah, and
- 33:50Speaker 1: then it looks it looks bad, you know, but people
- 33:53Speaker 1: use that a lot, you know, And yeah, they came
- 33:56Speaker 1: out flat. Oh, all twenty two guys on the field
- 33:59Speaker 1: came out flat, you know what I mean? Come on. Yeah,
- 34:01Speaker 1: now it happens like I think Buffalo, Like I will say,
- 34:04Speaker 1: you know, how does Buffalo lose to Jacksonville? Well, you
- 34:08Speaker 1: know they had to be pretty flat. Well that probably
- 34:11Speaker 1: started in practice, right, Well, that's I mean, that's what
- 34:13Speaker 1: Max said against Indianapolis. Yeah, yep, uh, Jack's in the
- 34:18Speaker 1: UK Union, Jack, what's up? Well done? Hey that guys,
- 34:21Speaker 1: how we doing good? Excellent? I've got a couple of
- 34:25Speaker 1: questions if that's okay. I'm recently been talking a lot
- 34:28Speaker 1: about kind of what teams you'd want to play in
- 34:31Speaker 1: the playoffs. I don't do you have any idea kind
- 34:35Speaker 1: of do you have any idea of how other teams
- 34:40Speaker 1: view the Patriots, Like other teams saying oh yeah, that's
- 34:43Speaker 1: definitely the match what we want, like that's our easiest path.
- 34:46Speaker 1: I don't know how they would feel. Um, but if
- 34:49Speaker 1: I were certain teams, I would probably prefer the Patriots
- 34:53Speaker 1: over others. And depending on what what my strengths were. Um, listen, Like,
- 35:00Speaker 1: let's be honest. If it's it's the same thing that
- 35:04Speaker 1: we just talked about with Miami, they probably figure that
- 35:07Speaker 1: the Max's not gonna hurt them if they put the
- 35:10Speaker 1: pressure that their limit in Kansas City, right, Yeah, they
- 35:14Speaker 1: probably feel pretty confident they can score some points, right,
- 35:17Speaker 1: and they probably feel pretty confident that their defense will
- 35:19Speaker 1: not get overrun unless it's a really really good offensive plan,
- 35:22Speaker 1: right right, Well, that would kind of telling me that
- 35:24Speaker 1: they probably wouldn't fear the Patriots, right, So let's be
- 35:27Speaker 1: let's be fair about that. You know, Um, this isn't
- 35:30Speaker 1: the Patriots of old. Nobody wants to play the Patriots.
- 35:33Speaker 1: You know, you come into Gillette, Oh, just walking in,
- 35:36Speaker 1: you get intimidated. Plus the fact that the Jets would
- 35:38Speaker 1: have to be Buffalo for anybody to have to walk
- 35:40Speaker 1: into jobs, I understand. I'm just saying. Now with the
- 35:43Speaker 1: home game they went four and five exactly. Yeah, I'm
- 35:45Speaker 1: just saying, you know, so it's it's different, and it's
- 35:48Speaker 1: really because the offense doesn't have Tom Brady. It's not
- 35:52Speaker 1: to be feared anymore, you know, right, And that's just reality.
- 35:57Speaker 1: That's just reality, you know. But I don't I mean Jack,
- 36:00Speaker 1: to answer your question, I don't know exactly how the
- 36:02Speaker 1: other teams feel. They probably feel they have to play smart,
- 36:05Speaker 1: don't probably not the team they want to see the most.
- 36:08Speaker 1: I'll tell you that they'd probably rather see you know,
- 36:11Speaker 1: another team that maybe isn't as well coached and and
- 36:16Speaker 1: might hand the game away, you know, like a Cincinnati
- 36:18Speaker 1: who might not be ready to play in the playoffs
- 36:22Speaker 1: because they haven't been there, you know, with Belichick and
- 36:25Speaker 1: some of the veterans. At least the Patriots have been
- 36:28Speaker 1: through this. Now they have the rookie quarterback, so yeah,
- 36:31Speaker 1: who knows. Ye, Thanks Jack, appreciate the call. Let's go
- 36:35Speaker 1: to Anthony and Seattle. Hey Anthony, what's up my brother?
- 36:40Speaker 1: Hey Anthony, Hey, I'm in the gym right now. I'm
- 36:44Speaker 1: by myself, but friends drop looking around. I'm like, I
- 36:49Speaker 1: thought somebody showed up. I haven't heard anybody mess up
- 36:57Speaker 1: that clearly. Yeah. It wasn't muffed. No, it wasn't in anger.
- 37:02Speaker 1: It was the most unnecessary curse word ever. It really was.
- 37:05Speaker 1: And I did get done that once before. I was
- 37:07Speaker 1: talking about a team going down the field, and I
- 37:09Speaker 1: think I said, they just go down the blank field.
- 37:12Speaker 1: I say, I think I did a one you did
- 37:13Speaker 1: for you, did I remember? Yeah, you're also called andy
- 37:16Speaker 1: and a hole and you didn't say that's okay, that's
- 37:19Speaker 1: all right? Yeah, Hey, um, Paul, I feel you on
- 37:24Speaker 1: I understand you your argument with you know, Cincinnati's black
- 37:27Speaker 1: of um uh experience, experience, you know what I mean,
- 37:33Speaker 1: they haven't been there before. And then then Tennessee, they're
- 37:36Speaker 1: not gonna score like you're not gonna score a lot
- 37:37Speaker 1: of points and all that. But man, I'm sorry, give
- 37:41Speaker 1: me Buffalo one more time. Man, I want Buffalo bad.
- 37:44Speaker 1: I called in a few weeks ago before our first
- 37:47Speaker 1: Buffalo matchup. That was the only time I had called
- 37:49Speaker 1: in the season. I had just kind of been waiting
- 37:51Speaker 1: to see, waiting to kind of see what we were
- 37:52Speaker 1: gonna be. I would pump for that game. Um you know,
- 37:56Speaker 1: here's my reason, and then I'll get off the phone,
- 37:58Speaker 1: you know. And I like my I like my chances
- 38:01Speaker 1: in a rubber match. When I got Bill Belichick. They've
- 38:03Speaker 1: seen us, we've seen them play, not really any surprises.
- 38:06Speaker 1: It's really as a game plan and execution. I like
- 38:09Speaker 1: my chances in that. And then secondly, I hate I
- 38:12Speaker 1: hate the way we played defense against them. Not that
- 38:15Speaker 1: we didn't perform well, but again, defensive game plan, fit
- 38:19Speaker 1: back and wait and hopefully makes the mistake. We haven't
- 38:21Speaker 1: played like that all year. And I know Buffalo's got weapons,
- 38:25Speaker 1: so they play like that almost every week. But it's
- 38:27Speaker 1: like Bills decided before the game that that we can't
- 38:31Speaker 1: handle their weapons, so he didn't even really give them
- 38:33Speaker 1: a chance. And I think we'll be more aggressive in
- 38:35Speaker 1: a playoff game where there's no tomorrow. Yeah, you might
- 38:38Speaker 1: be right. I mean I have the opposite reason for
- 38:41Speaker 1: a lot of those things. Um with you know, the
- 38:45Speaker 1: whole rubber match thing. I don't know why that's a
- 38:47Speaker 1: point in the Patriots fans, Anthony, if there are surprises.
- 38:50Speaker 1: I like Bill Belichick's chances of being able to create
- 38:53Speaker 1: a surprise against someone that he that he hasn't he
- 38:55Speaker 1: hasn't seen, that doesn't really know what is going to happen. Yeah,
- 38:58Speaker 1: you know, I I do want another chance. Like how
- 39:02Speaker 1: many rubber matches have they had that you could think of? Jets?
- 39:07Speaker 1: How'd that go? Not good, Bob, Not good Bob. Yeah,
- 39:11Speaker 1: I mean Colts. I think in the past they did
- 39:13Speaker 1: do well back in the OTTs. You know, no, but
- 39:16Speaker 1: they only but they played them once during the second time.
- 39:19Speaker 1: I'm talking about playing a team three times. When they
- 39:21Speaker 1: first started the Colts were in our division. Yeah, but
- 39:24Speaker 1: not with Peyton Manning. Yeah, well, Peyton Manning and when, yes,
- 39:29Speaker 1: but when you played the the Patriots and Colts in
- 39:32Speaker 1: the playoffs was after Peyton Manning when he got into
- 39:36Speaker 1: the NFL was ninety eight, and technically they were still
- 39:38Speaker 1: in the AC East, and so you didn't face them
- 39:41Speaker 1: in one. You didn't play him in the playoffs until
- 39:42Speaker 1: after the reignment. Okay, yeah, yeah. There hasn't been a
- 39:48Speaker 1: lot of three times where you played a team three times.
- 39:51Speaker 1: I like the idea of the Patriots. I mean that
- 39:54Speaker 1: goes back. They did play Miami three times, but this
- 39:56Speaker 1: is pre dates the Belichick, right, yeah, Pete Carroll actually right, yeah,
- 40:02Speaker 1: Todd Collins game, yep, oh yeah, yeah, yeah yeah. Now,
- 40:06Speaker 1: now that's when you'm gonna stop. That's one you can
- 40:10Speaker 1: make fun of me. Walpole's best. Yes, not that Todd Collins.
- 40:13Speaker 1: Oh no, my god, Todd Collins, the Patriots linebacker. Oh
- 40:18Speaker 1: that one he played with Ted Johnson. Todd Collins, remember,
- 40:21Speaker 1: and he knew the signal. It was a Marino signal
- 40:23Speaker 1: like this, and he picked off a pass in a
- 40:26Speaker 1: playoff game in like ninety seven seven. I think he guessed. Yeah, well,
- 40:31Speaker 1: only we could look at up, don't remember, all right,
- 40:33Speaker 1: stop laughing Morrell Todd's in North Carolina. Hate Todd. Yes,
- 40:38Speaker 1: it was December twenty eighth, nineteen ninety seventeen three victory victory. Okay, guys,
- 40:52Speaker 1: since you're saying that we need a little bit of
- 40:53Speaker 1: momentum and stuff and we need a good job there
- 40:56Speaker 1: and we could maybe beat the Miami and then move on,
- 41:01Speaker 1: don't you want the ball first? Like I know Eric
- 41:03Speaker 1: will agree with me, But I think we need to
- 41:05Speaker 1: get the ball first and move the ball down the field,
- 41:08Speaker 1: get back a little confidence. You know, what if you
- 41:11Speaker 1: don't well, what if you don't bend, does he lose confidence?
- 41:17Speaker 1: But I think that it would be good to have
- 41:19Speaker 1: a nice solid drive to start friends on it, you know,
- 41:21Speaker 1: start the game. I think that would help a lot.
- 41:24Speaker 1: You're on the road, especially on the road, you start
- 41:27Speaker 1: on defense. You quiet the crowd, you know, quiet the crowd.
- 41:33Speaker 1: That means they have to re re energize for when
- 41:35Speaker 1: you have the ball, especially on the road, you start
- 41:38Speaker 1: on defense if you can. You didn't think that were
- 41:41Speaker 1: in Kansas City. But overtime, no, it didn't work. Kansas City,
- 41:47Speaker 1: you got the ball, the city had a chance to
- 41:49Speaker 1: get back in the game. Is because they opened the
- 41:51Speaker 1: second half with a touchdown anyway. Yeah, I just I
- 41:55Speaker 1: think he defer every time unless it's overtime or the
- 41:58Speaker 1: conditions you know, are such that you know, you want
- 42:01Speaker 1: to have your choice of direction, you know, I just
- 42:04Speaker 1: would always lean back on I'll take my chances by deferring.
- 42:09Speaker 1: There are definitely examples where you could convince me that
- 42:12Speaker 1: the other the other thing might be the best thing
- 42:14Speaker 1: to do. I don't understand the whole confidence thing. I
- 42:17Speaker 1: don't get that. I don't know why you can only
- 42:19Speaker 1: get confidence on offense, not defense. Like, wouldn't it be
- 42:22Speaker 1: what wouldn't it be a huge confidence boost to mac
- 42:25Speaker 1: Jones to sit over in the sideline and a minute
- 42:28Speaker 1: one into the game, having watched the other team punt
- 42:31Speaker 1: after or three and out, and you get the ball
- 42:33Speaker 1: like the forty five, right, Like that would be a
- 42:35Speaker 1: pretty big confidence boost. Yeah. I don't know. I just
- 42:39Speaker 1: wouldn't like to put it on his shoulders earlier, I guess,
- 42:41Speaker 1: just to see how he's going to respond. It'll be
- 42:43Speaker 1: on his shoulders out of the playoffs. I'm with you,
- 42:46Speaker 1: don't worry, yeah you and Eric, yeah, John, Eric and
- 42:52Speaker 1: oh yeah, you would take the ball, so you guys
- 42:54Speaker 1: think Belichick is an idiot. Young, I didn't say that,
- 42:56Speaker 1: you know, more than I like ninety eight point nine
- 43:00Speaker 1: percent of the time he's deferred, and you always think
- 43:02Speaker 1: that you should. There's there's two schools of thought. That's
- 43:04Speaker 1: all Bills wrong, I think. But way to go, Todd.
- 43:09Speaker 1: Except but all the other teams are deferring too, don't
- 43:12Speaker 1: they a lot of them. Bill started it, though he
- 43:14Speaker 1: didn't Oh yeah, yeah, I mean, I mean, he he popularized.
- 43:18Speaker 1: He definitely did it more often than others faster, right that.
- 43:23Speaker 1: You know. I like to make fun of the things
- 43:24Speaker 1: that Bill invented, and I've kind of pushed back on
- 43:27Speaker 1: that one. And the Bill did kind of start kind
- 43:29Speaker 1: of more regularly than anybody else. People were deferring before Bill,
- 43:34Speaker 1: but Bill did it all the time, faster than everybody else.
- 43:37Speaker 1: And I also contend, just to close this one out again,
- 43:40Speaker 1: that if Brady hadn't thrown a pick in the zone
- 43:41Speaker 1: in Kansas City, the game would have been over at halftime.
- 43:43Speaker 1: And I would contend, if my own I know you
- 43:46Speaker 1: would Adams in Ireland, what's up, Adam Aiden? Aiden's in
- 43:55Speaker 1: Ireland and he's calling in the postgame show party all right,
- 44:00Speaker 1: all right, let's get to some of the emails. One
- 44:03Speaker 1: isn't Stratford, Connecticut. This is a once in a million
- 44:06Speaker 1: thank you Fred for making my day with the f
- 44:08Speaker 1: mom almost spit out my coffee all over my computer.
- 44:11Speaker 1: Quick question, what should I do with a glove that
- 44:14Speaker 1: I got from Andre on the wind versus the Titans?
- 44:17Speaker 1: Frame it, buy a case for it. Any suggestions from
- 44:20Speaker 1: Andre Stevens? Yeah, what did he get a glove? What
- 44:24Speaker 1: should he do with it? Put it on if you place,
- 44:28Speaker 1: if you like that kind of stuff, put it in
- 44:30Speaker 1: the case. I think you should make it your life's
- 44:32Speaker 1: mission to have him sign it and then put it
- 44:36Speaker 1: in a case. Yeah. I mean, if you're into that
- 44:39Speaker 1: memorabilious stuff, I would sure. Yeah, make it a keepsake. Yeah,
- 44:44Speaker 1: put it in a case. That's what I would do.
- 44:46Speaker 1: But I got one from Laurier Mallory friend, I don't
- 44:49Speaker 1: have it signed. No, I got it in ninety six
- 44:52Speaker 1: at the Chargers game where you threw it in the crowd. Yeah,
- 44:56Speaker 1: and you caught it. Yeah, like a bouquet, I said,
- 44:57Speaker 1: he a wedding, I said, Heylia. No, he like was
- 45:01Speaker 1: walking off and we were like and he gave me
- 45:04Speaker 1: a glove. I have no idea where that is now.
- 45:06Speaker 1: Another person Ramon in Tampa thanking me for the F bomb.
- 45:10Speaker 1: Everyone was looking at me crazy because I had an
- 45:13Speaker 1: outburst of laughter at my office. It's a lot about
- 45:16Speaker 1: the Super Bowl, though. I'm confident we have a chance.
- 45:19Speaker 1: I believe Matt could pull a strong passing game out
- 45:22Speaker 1: of his ass to beat the Bills, and the run
- 45:24Speaker 1: game and defense could take care of the Colts and Chargers.
- 45:27Speaker 1: All right, it's possible, of course. Why do we have
- 45:33Speaker 1: to just beat the Bills, Colts and Chargers. Why are
- 45:34Speaker 1: we eliminating the top three teams in the conference. I
- 45:37Speaker 1: think he's saying maybe first game, first round, just to
- 45:40Speaker 1: get through it. I don't know. Yeah, but they don't
- 45:42Speaker 1: have to play the Colts and the Chargers in the
- 45:44Speaker 1: first round. Yeah, I don't know, like they might have
- 45:47Speaker 1: to play the Bills. Yeah. Uh Aiden is trying again
- 45:54Speaker 1: from Ireland. What's up, Aiden? Hey, I'm not sure what
- 45:57Speaker 1: happened last time, Just to say, then put the charge.
- 46:03Speaker 1: This team three and four. At the time, the season
- 46:07Speaker 1: was kind of still on the table. Didn't know if
- 46:09Speaker 1: if they're gonna get it. But it's Funny how a
- 46:12Speaker 1: couple of weeks ago ten wins seemed somewhat out of
- 46:14Speaker 1: reach and now we're in the playoffs. Funny. But I
- 46:20Speaker 1: just think whenever happens in the playoffs, they'll be impressed,
- 46:23Speaker 1: you know, how the team has come along? Sure, yea,
- 46:28Speaker 1: And if they win this weekend, they'll have exceeded Fred's
- 46:30Speaker 1: expectations for wins. Right, you have ten and seven. I
- 46:33Speaker 1: did eleven and six. Yeah. And I remember when they
- 46:36Speaker 1: were two and four and Fred was talking about, yeah,
- 46:38Speaker 1: I still did they could get I was like, really,
- 46:40Speaker 1: you think they're gonna go eat in three the rest
- 46:41Speaker 1: of the way. They're not going to eat in three. Yeah,
- 46:43Speaker 1: they might go nine and two. Right, Remember I was
- 46:45Speaker 1: talking about like that six game stretch if they can
- 46:48Speaker 1: do you know, so they did, they did it. But
- 46:53Speaker 1: all that matters is what they do once the postseason
- 46:56Speaker 1: gets here. Now we're in the tournament. Yeah, now we're
- 46:59Speaker 1: in the tournament. Yeah, I think that it's a success.
- 47:02Speaker 1: I mean, anything else, Adan, I know you came all
- 47:04Speaker 1: the way from Ireland. I don't want to just short
- 47:06Speaker 1: change it. I don't think he came all the way yeah, right,
- 47:09Speaker 1: he called joking, called from Ireland friend trade next week.
- 47:14Speaker 1: I haven't heard in a long time ye show any
- 47:17Speaker 1: slashes in the comp He did not, Nah, not really.
- 47:21Speaker 1: He was very quiet in camp. He's been on the
- 47:23Speaker 1: practice squad all year though, so they must see something
- 47:25Speaker 1: there that they think is worth developing. Yeah, and he
- 47:28Speaker 1: was a draft pick. You don't want to give up
- 47:29Speaker 1: that Nie Adams pick. That's right, he was, yep, But
- 47:33Speaker 1: I feel like if they didn't see anything worth developing,
- 47:36Speaker 1: they would have replaced him on the practice squad. They
- 47:39Speaker 1: those spots can can turn over pretty quick if they
- 47:42Speaker 1: don't think a guy has a future. Ye. All right,
- 47:46Speaker 1: thanks for the call, Aiden, appreciate you coming all the
- 47:49Speaker 1: way over from Ireland. Let's see Neil from work. Um.
- 47:53Speaker 1: I know, and yesterday's show you were saying that we
- 47:56Speaker 1: might rest a few guys a Sunday. But do you
- 47:57Speaker 1: think it will be a Stephen Jackson game two points?
- 48:00Speaker 1: I know, or we'll build stuff it to the B
- 48:02Speaker 1: flow for revenge from week one. I don't know if
- 48:07Speaker 1: it's revenge. You know, I don't think B Flow didn't
- 48:10Speaker 1: really do or say anything that wouldn't Yeah, I mean
- 48:12Speaker 1: you'll you'll work yourself up into that. Oh, yeah, I
- 48:18Speaker 1: mean just laughs, like because he probably you're probably manufactured hate, right, Yeah,
- 48:25Speaker 1: he read between the lines that aren't there. Um, let's
- 48:28Speaker 1: see Torry in Chicago. Just been listening for years, recently
- 48:33Speaker 1: started emailing more frequently. Some of my finest moments are
- 48:36Speaker 1: laughing to myself out loud during one of your guys
- 48:39Speaker 1: spats while my wife questions who I'm talking to. The
- 48:42Speaker 1: response is, I'm listening to the guys. Question. If this
- 48:46Speaker 1: team in the next two to three years builds the
- 48:48Speaker 1: way Bill Belichick sees fit and Matt continues to develop
- 48:52Speaker 1: and improve, does that change bill stance and how long
- 48:55Speaker 1: he'll be around? Could you see him coaching ten more
- 48:58Speaker 1: years if this team is successful? No? No, you could
- 49:03Speaker 1: you see Bill coaching when he's eighty? I think it's
- 49:05Speaker 1: all a matter of health. And I think he once
- 49:07Speaker 1: the coach when he's eighty. No, I I mean we
- 49:11Speaker 1: say that, but like every year, he like as soon
- 49:12Speaker 1: as the off season gets here, he's like full steam
- 49:14Speaker 1: ahead to like the team building period and the draft
- 49:17Speaker 1: and all this stuff. I think there's a better chance
- 49:19Speaker 1: of him resigning at the end of the year than
- 49:21Speaker 1: there is of him coaching ten more year. What is
- 49:23Speaker 1: he now? Sixty eight? He's seventy in April, Gon seventy,
- 49:27Speaker 1: it's gonna be seventy. We're adding here he's seventy in April,
- 49:33Speaker 1: all right, So I don't know he didn't do so
- 49:37Speaker 1: same birthday. Yeah, oh really, I would be surprised if
- 49:40Speaker 1: he coaches ten year. I mean more than surprised. Yeah,
- 49:42Speaker 1: ten years is a long time. I could see five
- 49:44Speaker 1: or five. I mean, I wouldn't rule that completely out,
- 49:47Speaker 1: but I think it's probably two or three. One more
- 49:50Speaker 1: and we'll take a break. Andy in the UK, I
- 49:52Speaker 1: read Eric's feature on Jacob Johnson yesterday and thoroughly enjoyed it.
- 49:56Speaker 1: Wonderful story that was brilliantly brought written. I normally get
- 50:00Speaker 1: my Patriots content in much smaller chunks through Twitter and
- 50:04Speaker 1: blog entries, but this was so engagingly written. Thanks Eric.
- 50:09Speaker 1: Question I was wondering as to why the Patriots passing
- 50:13Speaker 1: attack with Mac doesn't seem to utilize the quick slants
- 50:16Speaker 1: and seam roots that Brady used so effectively all those years.
- 50:20Speaker 1: Is that Max's throwing preferences the different skills of his
- 50:23Speaker 1: receiving corps or the defense taking this option away to
- 50:26Speaker 1: force mac Into more difficult throws. The scene roots have
- 50:32Speaker 1: been a problem for mac Jones all the way back
- 50:34Speaker 1: to the summer. I don't know if it's strictly a
- 50:37Speaker 1: result of the personnel he's throwing too, or if it's
- 50:40Speaker 1: just a throw that he has had a hard time
- 50:42Speaker 1: consistently making, but that has been a problem. They've tried
- 50:46Speaker 1: to connect down the seam, and when there's coverage there,
- 50:48Speaker 1: it has not looked. He doesn't seem to see he
- 50:51Speaker 1: had kind of has tunnel vision down the seam. He
- 50:53Speaker 1: doesn't see the coverage coming in. And a lot of
- 50:56Speaker 1: times guys come from nowhere quote unquote. And I think
- 51:00Speaker 1: during the summer, if I recall a lot of times
- 51:03Speaker 1: we thought the throw might have been a little late,
- 51:05Speaker 1: or you know, there wasn't enough on it seems like
- 51:09Speaker 1: there's a lot of safeties that are in the way
- 51:11Speaker 1: that he doesn't seem to see. Yeah, yeah, doesn't seem
- 51:14Speaker 1: the scene to the slants, I think that we have
- 51:17Speaker 1: seen more slants than seam routes, but I don't think
- 51:20Speaker 1: that's really And and remember a strength you're thinking of
- 51:24Speaker 1: Welker and Edelman and Troy Brown, guys who are so
- 51:28Speaker 1: quick to get into that route, you don't have those guys.
- 51:31Speaker 1: But on seam routes it's tight ends. No, I'm not
- 51:34Speaker 1: talking about I'm talking about the outside guys. Quick slants,
- 51:38Speaker 1: you know, and the little boom boom slants and end cuts.
- 51:41Speaker 1: I think you've seen a lot of those. Yeah, but
- 51:43Speaker 1: I don't think you've seen like the slants. It would
- 51:45Speaker 1: be like Agalore. Like, yeah, outside guys coming in. I
- 51:48Speaker 1: don't think they have dynamic playmakers in that regard. All right,

- 1:01:02Speaker 1: in history. Well, it used to be gold long time ago,
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: the golden goal. Yeah, but then they decided, like the NFL,
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: to make it fair that both teams have possession the
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: equivalent thereof no. No, no, I mean everybody has the
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: same chance to get the ball. Right. No, he didn't
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: let me finish, I said, the equivalent of letting both
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: teams have possession in the in the soccer world, I
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: don't think that's the equivalent. It isn't. I'm glad Fred
- 1:01:28Speaker 1: agrees with me, because that's the non soccer It doesn't
- 1:01:31Speaker 1: make any sense to me. The golden goal was the
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: equivalent of the old days in the NFL where the
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: first team that scored one. Right. But football is a
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: different sport. It's football. Only one team had the ball,
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: only one team could score. It's not a flucer. Both
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: teams have the same chance to have the ball, right,
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: You can possess the ball, yes, But they wanted to
- 1:01:48Speaker 1: just let there be a you know, an set amount
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: of time for them to play the X. Well, they
- 1:01:53Speaker 1: don't do that in the NFL. That's fine. They don't
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: play a set amount of time. No, but they do
- 1:01:58Speaker 1: have a ten minute. You know, if you don't after
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: ten minutes, they call it a tide, right, but it does.
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: In this case, you couldn't have a tie because it's
- 1:02:04Speaker 1: it's not the same. Eric, I know what you're trying
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: to say. But in soccer, no matter what hap equivalent
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: I did, it was the same. We're already arguing now
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: I want to look up the same and equivalent. But anyway, anyway,
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: what if I walked into revolution unfiltered? That's another great
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: moment from all right, we're back here in Patriots unfiltered.
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: Speaking of walking in Deuce is back from practice practice
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: min Wow, Fred and Eric are doing a dance. I
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: had the jazz hands. We should be on TikTok. You
- 1:02:51Speaker 1: should No, No, I'm kidding, believe me. I think that
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: song Larrence dance. Yeah, I think we should come up
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: with a dance. I was thinking, Mike, before you give
- 1:02:59Speaker 1: us the update, will you hear when Fred dropped an
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: F bomb? Oh no, And it was after you and
- 1:03:05Speaker 1: I'm gonna stun you here. It had nothing to do
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: with me me. It was it was just random. I
- 1:03:10Speaker 1: don't know why. We were talking about, like the old
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: Super Bowls or something, and and he just was talking
- 1:03:15Speaker 1: about teams were loaded. He didn't just say it loaded
- 1:03:18Speaker 1: R Yeah. Yeah, well they were. We'll get it in
- 1:03:24Speaker 1: post yeah yeah. So uh so it was just your
- 1:03:27Speaker 1: boy Deuce in the Socios fieldhouse. Yeah, for practice kind
- 1:03:32Speaker 1: of nice. Wasn't quite as harried as it usually is.
- 1:03:34Speaker 1: Like it had a little time to like get in there,
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: get settled and solwly rifle through the the attendance um
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: which I'm still waiting for confirmation on. But I did
- 1:03:41Speaker 1: not see uh, I didn't see Kyle Dugger, but Nelson
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: Egilor was back and Ronnie Perkins off of I R.
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: So he was kind of wasn't really expecting much from him, yeah,
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: as after he went back to I R. But um,
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: but he's back out there, still might not get from him, Yeah,
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: I know. It's it's interesting. I think you've seen a
- 1:03:58Speaker 1: glimpse into some of these guys with like mcgrow own
- 1:04:00Speaker 1: and bled, so like when they have the chance to
- 1:04:02Speaker 1: just get a guy a couple of weeks of practice,
- 1:04:04Speaker 1: they I think they seem to value it and even
- 1:04:06Speaker 1: if it's all right, well we're not you're not gonna
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: play or anything like that. So um, good for him.
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: I guess to be back, but nice to see Agalore
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: out there and jump right into drills and all that.
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: So he looked good to go. So that's uh, Harris
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: looked okay. Harris looked okay. And I was a little
- 1:04:20Speaker 1: worried too because he came in late, and I was like, oh,
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: they're gonna maybe shut him down this week. But but
- 1:04:24Speaker 1: he came in and it was funny, is he uh
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: you know, continuing kind of just like tone setting, being loud.
- 1:04:29Speaker 1: Just as soon as he came in, big you know,
- 1:04:32Speaker 1: bark dog and everybody kind of turned and uh so
- 1:04:34Speaker 1: he's you know, continuing that kind of leadership and bringing
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: energy in every practice. He shows up every time we
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: go and watch stretching. There's something about Damian Harris that
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: you know, catches everybody's eye and you know, seems to
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: get people going, getting Mac pumped up. And how hot
- 1:04:47Speaker 1: was it in there? It was? It was fine head
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: that they had one of the big doors open for
- 1:04:50Speaker 1: a while, um, the one of the side doors. So
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: it wasn't I mean, it's not that cold out. It's
- 1:04:56Speaker 1: not that cold out right, yeah, so it's fifty degrees
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: out yeah right, yeah, so it isn't too bad. It
- 1:05:02Speaker 1: was just a little wet, little wet. I think that's
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: probably why the wisted. Maybe moving moist, move things inside,
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: move the party inside. But how is the mood any
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: different indoors than it is outdoors? Yeah, it's interesting, you know,
- 1:05:13Speaker 1: it's I mean, it's fun to be on the same
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: level as a team. And obviously during training camp did
- 1:05:17Speaker 1: that a little bit going down and but I just
- 1:05:19Speaker 1: think when you are able to stand on the same
- 1:05:21Speaker 1: level as these human beings, it really just puts into
- 1:05:23Speaker 1: perspective how huge they are and you know, how how
- 1:05:26Speaker 1: fast they are and quick. I mean that was just
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: we were again somehow I always up standing near the
- 1:05:30Speaker 1: wide receiver drools. But um, you know, just warming up
- 1:05:33Speaker 1: in the quick feet up, you know, watching them go
- 1:05:35Speaker 1: through and then you know, really it's just the size
- 1:05:38Speaker 1: when you're standing across from them and you realize, like
- 1:05:40Speaker 1: my god, the force of these guys must run with
- 1:05:43Speaker 1: based on the size and speed of them. It just
- 1:05:45Speaker 1: puts it in perspective. But you know, usual everybody's kind
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: of in their position groups and uh, the quarterbacks out
- 1:05:51Speaker 1: to the side and the running backs down there, and
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: uh but nothing nothing, uh nothing really OVERHALLLM stand out different,
- 1:05:57Speaker 1: just kind of general lingering around a little bit. Although
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: I mean I do get to see some of the
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: early stuff that usually I mean, there's nothing like yeah,
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: I don't tell like you know about reporting back any
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: uh intermatcha um no, not really anything too. I mean
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: I was watching them warm up a little bit, and
- 1:06:14Speaker 1: he was, um, you know, obviously getting warmed up, running
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: the usual kind of screen passes early plays that they
- 1:06:19Speaker 1: usually go through. Um but uh but now he seemed
- 1:06:22Speaker 1: he seemed fine. Nothing nothing in particular caught my eye
- 1:06:24Speaker 1: with him. Now, there wasn't any other media there. But
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: have they been texting calling you with their complaints? Yeah no, no,
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: yeah no, there's no grousing to share. Um I am
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: I am sitting on on the information for everybody. So
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: I'm gonna send out Mike Reece play a little kia.
- 1:06:38Speaker 1: Some people are there. Some people's like you know, when
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: you text somebody and the response you see the three
- 1:06:43Speaker 1: things and then they go away and it's like, oh, yeah,
- 1:06:46Speaker 1: what are you going to say something? Yeah no, it's
- 1:06:49Speaker 1: uh so, yeah, I guess that's day one and we'll
- 1:06:52Speaker 1: see um if we're back in there tomorrow and I mean,
- 1:06:55Speaker 1: it seems like they've got a plan to potentially be
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: in there the next two days as well, So we'll see.
- 1:06:59Speaker 1: I'll snow plays into it as well on Friday. So yeah,
- 1:07:02Speaker 1: get a little a little bit of a little bu
- 1:07:04Speaker 1: snowstorm in there. Yeah. So that's uh, that's the practice
- 1:07:07Speaker 1: report brought to you by Mike only here. Yeah, get
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: it only here, not even on social media. All right,
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: sounds good? Um? What else? Anything before we get back
- 1:07:16Speaker 1: to the calls and emails? No, no, I think we're good. Okay,
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: let's get back to them. Yeah, shall we? Eight five
- 1:07:24Speaker 1: five past five hundred. Travis is in California? Hey, Travis, Travis, No,
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: he's not there. One thing you mentioned, dugger wasn't there.
- 1:07:37Speaker 1: Do we have any word what's going on with him?
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: He knows. He was on the COVID list a couple
- 1:07:41Speaker 1: like three weeks ago. He also well, he also had
- 1:07:44Speaker 1: a hamstring injury. I think last Friday, last Friday's practice.
- 1:07:48Speaker 1: He played in the game, he had the pick, he
- 1:07:50Speaker 1: almost took it for a touchdown. But maybe there maybe
- 1:07:53Speaker 1: he's still dealing with lingering effects of that. Perhaps they're
- 1:07:57Speaker 1: giving him a little day. See when the injury report
- 1:07:59Speaker 1: comes out today. If he's not on it, that means
- 1:08:02Speaker 1: he's on the COVID list, right, Well, not necessarily, could
- 1:08:05Speaker 1: be out for other reasons. Well, he would be on
- 1:08:08Speaker 1: the he would be on the injury and they would say, right,
- 1:08:11Speaker 1: not injury related. Right. Um, let's go to Ethan in
- 1:08:16Speaker 1: Western Kentucky. Hey, Ethan, Hey guys, what's up? Hey? You
- 1:08:22Speaker 1: all right? Um? So I was just you know, I
- 1:08:24Speaker 1: was listening to you guys the other day talking about
- 1:08:26Speaker 1: the playoffs coming up and how that, Um, you guys
- 1:08:28Speaker 1: kind of thought that our offense was kind of what
- 1:08:30Speaker 1: it was. We're not gonna come out there and you know,
- 1:08:34Speaker 1: impress anybody really with something different, you know, like what
- 1:08:37Speaker 1: we've seen this year is what we're gonna get. And
- 1:08:40Speaker 1: going back to the free agent signing, um, when we
- 1:08:42Speaker 1: signed John Usmith and Hunter Henry you know, and granted
- 1:08:45Speaker 1: not up to this scale, but it kind of was
- 1:08:47Speaker 1: thinking for me, I was thinking myself that, you know,
- 1:08:50Speaker 1: here we go, we're gonna run the dual tide, you know,
- 1:08:53Speaker 1: kind of like with her Nandez and Gronkowski, which granted,
- 1:08:56Speaker 1: like I said, I know that it's not up to
- 1:08:57Speaker 1: that scale. Hunter Henry's not the Tide and Bronkowski, and
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: we're not so sure that Johnny Smith was even you
- 1:09:02Speaker 1: know what her Nadez boys. But coming into the playoffs,
- 1:09:05Speaker 1: I'm kind of on the same page with y'all. I
- 1:09:07Speaker 1: don't know if what we've done this year is enough
- 1:09:09Speaker 1: to win, you know, a division around against the Bills
- 1:09:13Speaker 1: or the wildcard if we played them, you know, whatever
- 1:09:15Speaker 1: it is. So I was thinking, do you guys think
- 1:09:17Speaker 1: that Bill probably has something up to sleep with them?
- 1:09:19Speaker 1: Or are we going to get more of kind of
- 1:09:21Speaker 1: like what a lot of Patriots fans are expected, including myself,
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: kind of that dual tide end hard to cover, you know,
- 1:09:27Speaker 1: the tide ends, exposed linebacker matchups, stuff like that. What
- 1:09:30Speaker 1: do you guys think about that? I just don't think
- 1:09:33Speaker 1: they're sitting on anything or this is the big secret
- 1:09:36Speaker 1: that they're you know, waiting on Bill, and I think
- 1:09:37Speaker 1: we were all in that boat. I think of expecting
- 1:09:39Speaker 1: this to be a two tight end offense. And I
- 1:09:40Speaker 1: think that's part of the reason why everybody you know
- 1:09:43Speaker 1: expresses some dissatisfaction with Johnny Smith, and I mean Paul
- 1:09:46Speaker 1: lated out earlier this week of you know, his performance
- 1:09:49Speaker 1: isn't really that far off a line of what he
- 1:09:51Speaker 1: usually does. I just think they're different players. And I
- 1:09:55Speaker 1: mean I think it's partially you know, people like me
- 1:09:57Speaker 1: who talk about it and we're like two tight end,
- 1:09:59Speaker 1: two tight end. You know, they signed two receivers too.
- 1:10:01Speaker 1: I think they needed a lot. They needed to two
- 1:10:03Speaker 1: competent tight ends. And it didn't necessarily signal that it's
- 1:10:06Speaker 1: both of them on the field. It means we want
- 1:10:08Speaker 1: to have two guys and ye some depth and maybe
- 1:10:10Speaker 1: have one guy block. And you know, Hunter Henry is
- 1:10:11Speaker 1: what he is, but you don't think about it. I
- 1:10:14Speaker 1: think the basic question is is it possible that there's
- 1:10:18Speaker 1: gonna be things we haven't seen in a positive way
- 1:10:20Speaker 1: come out that we haven't seen. Yeah, well, and and
- 1:10:24Speaker 1: think about it even during Brady. Has that ever been
- 1:10:26Speaker 1: the case? I think? Right? But what would you consider
- 1:10:30Speaker 1: something that you haven't seen? Well, like he said, like
- 1:10:32Speaker 1: all of a sudden, you know, like, um, Hunter Henry
- 1:10:35Speaker 1: has ten catches and John O. Smith has in the
- 1:10:38Speaker 1: same game seven. But I'm not ruling that out. Ye,
- 1:10:42Speaker 1: some statistical game, but we haven't seen I'm not ruling
- 1:10:45Speaker 1: that out. We have seen that in the Brady era.
- 1:10:48Speaker 1: I'm talking about but I mean, but wrinkle in the offense,
- 1:10:51Speaker 1: like they're gonna go no huddle. I've seen them go
- 1:10:53Speaker 1: no huddle. They're gonna go too tight. I've seen them
- 1:10:55Speaker 1: do I mean tight ends. They're gonna go empty. I've
- 1:10:58Speaker 1: seen them do that. The closest we could the closest
- 1:11:00Speaker 1: thing I could think of to something we'd never seen
- 1:11:02Speaker 1: before was the ineligible eligible player thing against the Then
- 1:11:08Speaker 1: that was a rinkle I'd never seen. That's an example
- 1:11:10Speaker 1: that that's one of the few. I think it's it's
- 1:11:12Speaker 1: more of a you know, fifty like all of a sudden,
- 1:11:15Speaker 1: the Patriots aren't going to have this aerial attack, you know,
- 1:11:18Speaker 1: in the playoffs. And to be fair, like the four guys,
- 1:11:21Speaker 1: the four main guys they signed on offense, uh, pretty
- 1:11:25Speaker 1: much performed the way they had been performing high. Yeah,
- 1:11:29Speaker 1: I mean the one who's right. Yeah. But I think
- 1:11:33Speaker 1: for the most part, you've gotten out of these guys
- 1:11:35Speaker 1: what they produce in the league. You know, Like I'll
- 1:11:38Speaker 1: give you a thing that like if you want to say,
- 1:11:40Speaker 1: like a wrinkle that we haven't seen like most of
- 1:11:43Speaker 1: these games, wouldn't you say that they've come out very
- 1:11:47Speaker 1: balanced offensively, and they've tried to establish the run while throwing.
- 1:11:52Speaker 1: You know, I'm not telling you they haven't started games
- 1:11:54Speaker 1: off with a lot of passes. They have. There have
- 1:11:57Speaker 1: been times that Bill by design his head the game
- 1:12:00Speaker 1: plan where he asked, Brady, you know what, we're probably
- 1:12:02Speaker 1: only going to run the ball about ten times today.
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: This is what we want to do. We want to
- 1:12:06Speaker 1: throw at fifty four times. We're not gonna run it
- 1:12:08Speaker 1: because we're not going to run into that brick wall.
- 1:12:11Speaker 1: We haven't really seen that. If they came out in
- 1:12:13Speaker 1: a playoff game and did something like that, that would
- 1:12:15Speaker 1: be a wrinkle that I, yeah, I hadn't seen during
- 1:12:17Speaker 1: the coolest year. And I thought of one other one
- 1:12:19Speaker 1: was Hernandez in the backfield against the Broncos. Remember that
- 1:12:22Speaker 1: they all said ed him as a running back, but
- 1:12:24Speaker 1: they've had Smith. They'd no, no, no, no, I'm just
- 1:12:27Speaker 1: saying that wrinkles in the past, the things we hadn't
- 1:12:28Speaker 1: really seen during the season. You get into a playoff
- 1:12:31Speaker 1: game and I don't know if we had at all.
- 1:12:33Speaker 1: Like I think Hernandez got some carries, Yeah, like Jona
- 1:12:36Speaker 1: Smith has gotten some carries. I don't think necessarily like
- 1:12:40Speaker 1: you know, like Patterson that year, had to line up
- 1:12:43Speaker 1: a couple of games at running back started. Yeah, and
- 1:12:48Speaker 1: that's my point is, I don't think you'll see like
- 1:12:50Speaker 1: a game plan for that, right, Like the Patriots might
- 1:12:53Speaker 1: throw the ball fifty times in the playoff game, but
- 1:12:55Speaker 1: it's probably going to be an indication that they were
- 1:12:58Speaker 1: chasing the whole game. Yeah. Yeah, I wouldn't want us
- 1:13:00Speaker 1: go in there like the old school Brady or anything
- 1:13:02Speaker 1: and throwing forty times. But that's not our team, and
- 1:13:04Speaker 1: I don't think that, you know, at the moment, we're
- 1:13:07Speaker 1: ready for anything kind of like that. I'd say, if
- 1:13:09Speaker 1: we throw the ball forty times and we're playing from
- 1:13:11Speaker 1: behind and stuff, right, Well, league wide, I think most teams,
- 1:13:14Speaker 1: if they pass fifty or more times, they loseause no
- 1:13:17Speaker 1: one wants to do that, right The Patriots are the
- 1:13:19Speaker 1: pretty much the only team that did it by design,
- 1:13:21Speaker 1: right Yeah, right, Well, I just got one more question
- 1:13:25Speaker 1: for you guys. Um. So, like, I'm from Kentucky and
- 1:13:28Speaker 1: all that, I'm playing on going to wild Card Weekend
- 1:13:30Speaker 1: this year, and you know, it's hard, it's tough to
- 1:13:32Speaker 1: get tickets and all that, and you need to get advanced,
- 1:13:34Speaker 1: and I know it's unpredictable depending on how the season ends.
- 1:13:37Speaker 1: But where would you guys anticipate? You know, what is
- 1:13:41Speaker 1: your best guest? Where you guys think we'll be playing
- 1:13:42Speaker 1: in wild Card weekend? I think it's Buffalo, Buffalo. You
- 1:13:45Speaker 1: think we'll bit Buffalo? Yeah, I think Cincinnati's then you're
- 1:13:50Speaker 1: in luck. Yeah, according to the Yeah, according to the experts,
- 1:13:55Speaker 1: the best chances Cincinnati. But I don't know, I really don't.
- 1:14:00Speaker 1: I can't, for the life of me figure out why
- 1:14:01Speaker 1: it's a higher percentage of beat Cincinnati than Buffalo. But
- 1:14:04Speaker 1: that's they had it up again today on ESPN. Well
- 1:14:07Speaker 1: during our show, everybody look that kind of points towards Buffalo.
- 1:14:10Speaker 1: But I mean, I think if everybody wins, it's Buffalo
- 1:14:13Speaker 1: this week. Yeah. Yeah, but I guess they're saying that
- 1:14:15Speaker 1: Cincinnati could lose. Yeah, I think I just saw Joe
- 1:14:19Speaker 1: Joe Burrow is not planning on playing. Oh oh, maybe
- 1:14:21Speaker 1: that's why. Maybe that's why the percentages have dropped. There
- 1:14:24Speaker 1: you go, yeah, and y'all playing on going. I'll be there,
- 1:14:28Speaker 1: Fred will be there. I'm gonna try to though. Maybe
- 1:14:30Speaker 1: we'll run into you guys. I appreciate you, Okay, thanks
- 1:14:33Speaker 1: than a Hilltoppers. Yeah, what's that Dues? Uh yeah, so
- 1:14:39Speaker 1: confirmed Ian Rappaport Joe burrow Tell's reporters he will not
- 1:14:42Speaker 1: play Sunday to rest up for the playoffs. Expect several
- 1:14:44Speaker 1: key since he players to be in song. So there
- 1:14:45Speaker 1: you go. They're taking this. I don't think that has
- 1:14:48Speaker 1: anything to do with the fight that's already happen. That
- 1:14:51Speaker 1: index is like based on numbers, not about who's gonna play, right,
- 1:14:55Speaker 1: And that was the other day right where just now no,
- 1:14:58Speaker 1: but didn't the other day we were saying, we were talking,
- 1:15:00Speaker 1: I don't get Yeah, I don't get it. I don't
- 1:15:02Speaker 1: know why they they tabbed them to lose. Uh. Nates
- 1:15:07Speaker 1: in northeastern Pennsylvania. What's up, Nate? Say? Good afternoon follows?
- 1:15:11Speaker 1: How are you good? Good? Um? I too? Am calling
- 1:15:14Speaker 1: in to give praise to Eric for his article on
- 1:15:18Speaker 1: Jako Johnson. That was what a cool story. Thank you
- 1:15:21Speaker 1: get him over here. But I do have a slight
- 1:15:23Speaker 1: critique and it's very typical Eric fashion. And I have
- 1:15:27Speaker 1: the uh the article right in front of me here
- 1:15:30Speaker 1: used some very questionable uh worked here. And I consider myself,
- 1:15:35Speaker 1: you know, pretty I think I have a pretty good
- 1:15:38Speaker 1: vocabulary where I do sing yet while his Nason, I
- 1:15:46Speaker 1: think that's sun. Look at the way Eric said, he's
- 1:15:52Speaker 1: already got his Nason. I have the pipe out as well,
- 1:15:56Speaker 1: right jacket with the elbow pads, right tweed. But it
- 1:16:01Speaker 1: was a good story. But Burgins and and Mason, thank
- 1:16:03Speaker 1: you for teaching me those words. What was the other urging? Burgeoning? Burgeoning? Yeah,
- 1:16:09Speaker 1: let's like development question. Yeah yeah, Jacob Johnson too. You
- 1:16:13Speaker 1: guys still talk to Andy very often? And does he
- 1:16:16Speaker 1: like him more than he liked? Definitely? No, He'll never
- 1:16:19Speaker 1: like anybody more than he liked Devlin. Who's his favorite? Again?
- 1:16:23Speaker 1: Great great story to Eric, Thank you for sharing that
- 1:16:25Speaker 1: with us. I appreciate it. My pleasure. Glad, glad people
- 1:16:28Speaker 1: are getting Nate. Did Andy have a favorite favorite fullback
- 1:16:32Speaker 1: like Tom Rathman? No, definitely Moose John Johnson, yep, I
- 1:16:37Speaker 1: didn't know you. I was there with him. I was
- 1:16:39Speaker 1: there with him the forty four the neck rolls, like
- 1:16:42Speaker 1: any any of those. Moose was forty eight. Wasn't nothing
- 1:16:45Speaker 1: bug me more Tom Ratha I'm just saying Rathman was
- 1:16:49Speaker 1: Moose was four number in the forties. Right, a neck roll?
- 1:16:51Speaker 1: You know what? It all gets back to Madden. Madden
- 1:16:55Speaker 1: made those guys cool. Yeah, because Madden used to focus
- 1:16:58Speaker 1: on those guys Like I used to love Larry Zonka. Yeah,
- 1:17:01Speaker 1: you know, just the name Zonka liked to be, had
- 1:17:07Speaker 1: to have the neck role if your name is Zonka,
- 1:17:09Speaker 1: and he was, but like he was more of a
- 1:17:10Speaker 1: running back full back. He was a he was like Riggins.
- 1:17:13Speaker 1: He was a big Riggins to Riggins. Yeah, Merril Hodge.
- 1:17:18Speaker 1: I liked him to feature bat Yeah, factor factor factor. Yeah.
- 1:17:24Speaker 1: Where has he been? Is he still on TV? I
- 1:17:26Speaker 1: think he's. I think he's yeah. Um Lance writes in
- 1:17:31Speaker 1: from Korea. It makes it sound like it's sorted. I
- 1:17:35Speaker 1: think he had cancer. I know. Oh, I thought you
- 1:17:37Speaker 1: were talking about the other thing he has. But I
- 1:17:39Speaker 1: think he had cancer too. Yeah. He was here for
- 1:17:42Speaker 1: one of my coaches clinics a couple of years ago.
- 1:17:44Speaker 1: Does he have a huge not big, big, big time right?
- 1:17:49Speaker 1: Fred mentioned a while back to receivers don't have much yak.
- 1:17:53Speaker 1: The passing offense is simplified, efficient and specifically designed for
- 1:17:56Speaker 1: our rooky quarterback. I might be wrong, but it looks
- 1:17:59Speaker 1: like Jones throws more mostly the open spots in the field.
- 1:18:01Speaker 1: With his receivers turned and facing him waiting for the ball.
- 1:18:05Speaker 1: Once they catch it, there's no time to turn on
- 1:18:07Speaker 1: the burners and get the yak because the defense closes in.
- 1:18:10Speaker 1: It still works and gets the ball down field, but
- 1:18:13Speaker 1: a fast defense can shut that system down. Which playoff
- 1:18:16Speaker 1: team gives the Mac passing system the best chance of
- 1:18:20Speaker 1: moving the ball. Playoff team Tennessee. Yeah, maybe, yeah, they can.
- 1:18:28Speaker 1: They I don't know enough about Cincinnatis. Cincinnatis might not
- 1:18:30Speaker 1: be a good second. That's the defense I need to
- 1:18:32Speaker 1: jump into. But I mean if they got to face
- 1:18:36Speaker 1: Buffalo again and you got the two running backs, I
- 1:18:38Speaker 1: think that would be that would be a good I
- 1:18:40Speaker 1: don't I don't like the passing matchup, but I do
- 1:18:43Speaker 1: like the running catch up there. And same with Kansas City.
- 1:18:46Speaker 1: I think that's a pretty good secondary. They get pressure
- 1:18:48Speaker 1: on the passer, but I think I think you might
- 1:18:51Speaker 1: be able to run on him a little bit. Chris
- 1:18:52Speaker 1: and Colfax, California. I was excited for Mac Jones in
- 1:18:57Speaker 1: the future of the Patriots, but all I've been bombarded
- 1:18:59Speaker 1: with from Paul mostly is how Matt can't throw, can't run,
- 1:19:03Speaker 1: doesn't have an NFL body, and it is essentially worths
- 1:19:06Speaker 1: an every rookie quarterback that came out this year who
- 1:19:08Speaker 1: said that. That's not true? Nobody says that, so right,
- 1:19:11Speaker 1: I think he's thinking of you, the other one that
- 1:19:13Speaker 1: said you would trade him straight up, and Trevor Lawrence.
- 1:19:15Speaker 1: So what quarterback in free agency or the draft? Can
- 1:19:17Speaker 1: we get to replace Peter Dinklage next year? Oh wow,
- 1:19:26Speaker 1: I don't know. I've never heard that before, but he
- 1:19:29Speaker 1: sounds funny. He's seen Peter Dinklage. Okay, and you know
- 1:19:33Speaker 1: what the Game of Thrones the song is, Oh Peter, Sorry, Paul,
- 1:19:48Speaker 1: you guys have lost your mind. No song doesn't have words, right,
- 1:19:54Speaker 1: we just sing because its name sounds like the So
- 1:19:56Speaker 1: this is a ducism. Yeah, yeah, yeah, okay, I'm down
- 1:20:01Speaker 1: with that. I saw I can't take a toll card
- 1:20:03Speaker 1: for that. I saw it on the internet at one point,
- 1:20:04Speaker 1: But anytime Peter Dinglich I just happened. So I'm sorry
- 1:20:09Speaker 1: if that happens now, I get it. And just to
- 1:20:12Speaker 1: be clear, I think Mac Jones is a better quarterback
- 1:20:15Speaker 1: than Peter Dnkwich. Me too. Yeah, look at that suicide's
- 1:20:19Speaker 1: coming together, right Joel and Ottawa. I think it's safe
- 1:20:24Speaker 1: to say that this Patriots team is much better suited
- 1:20:26Speaker 1: playing from a head than behind. With that in mind,
- 1:20:30Speaker 1: in the playoffs, do you think Bill Belichick should alter
- 1:20:32Speaker 1: his opening coin toss decision and if they win, choose
- 1:20:36Speaker 1: to receive the ball instead of the usual Walter Ferral
- 1:20:38Speaker 1: second times come up in this show today. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:20:41Speaker 1: we're back to that. Not I had to refuse myself
- 1:20:45Speaker 1: the first time, and this time I will as well.
- 1:20:47Speaker 1: Paul Deuce's texting with his slack buddies. Sorry, I just
- 1:20:51Speaker 1: got the she got the okay, so we're all good.
- 1:20:53Speaker 1: You get that out there. Yeah, it was a bargo now?
- 1:20:57Speaker 1: Was that bargo? That was the word I had to learn,
- 1:20:59Speaker 1: isn't we're gonna bargo it? I actually used it in
- 1:21:01Speaker 1: Just think about efforting. Just think of all Paul's guys,
- 1:21:05Speaker 1: all his touchdown twins, sitting by their computer waiting refresh fresh.
- 1:21:10Speaker 1: It was funny as they're sitting here. You have a
- 1:21:11Speaker 1: lot of power today, you know. Funny. You know it's
- 1:21:15Speaker 1: funny too about it was was Matt kind of snuck
- 1:21:17Speaker 1: in when I wasn't looking at some point and I
- 1:21:19Speaker 1: saw both the other quarterbacks. So there was a brief
- 1:21:21Speaker 1: moment where I'm like, are you telling me Mac Jones
- 1:21:24Speaker 1: isn't going to be here for this practice and it
- 1:21:25Speaker 1: all has to be on me, like you know, oh
- 1:21:28Speaker 1: there he is, okay, good, but they're on the refresh
- 1:21:30Speaker 1: like yeah right, well, I know. Well it's funny like
- 1:21:32Speaker 1: Zuckerberg and social men. I I was, I was, you know,
- 1:21:37Speaker 1: thinking of all those guys, but Zach Cox just followed
- 1:21:39Speaker 1: me on Twitter, which is like, you know, that's like
- 1:21:43Speaker 1: when we go to the Super Bowl and we have
- 1:21:45Speaker 1: the Pool report. Yeah, and you always have to follow
- 1:21:49Speaker 1: whoever the writer is. And it was that that woman Prentice. No,
- 1:21:52Speaker 1: there was a woman that worked for The Bronze at
- 1:21:54Speaker 1: the time. She now works for the for Washington. Well, yes,
- 1:21:57Speaker 1: she covers watching. Yes, that's the name. Ye. Like, I
- 1:22:01Speaker 1: still get updates from her, you know, because she's still
- 1:22:03Speaker 1: on my Twitter feed and she I get all this
- 1:22:06Speaker 1: Washington stuff, more Washington information than I could ever ask for.
- 1:22:10Speaker 1: She's pretty good. She's very thorough. Do you hear they're
- 1:22:13Speaker 1: going to reveal their new name on February second? February second, two,
- 1:22:17Speaker 1: twenty two, Washington Groundhogs, Washington Monuments. Yeah, is that what
- 1:22:22Speaker 1: they're gonna be no, But you like that, don't you
- 1:22:24Speaker 1: like it bad? I like it better than a lot
- 1:22:27Speaker 1: of other I heard, like red Tails, red Wolves, red Wolves,
- 1:22:32Speaker 1: the Admirals I think was another one that I that
- 1:22:34Speaker 1: I heard was was maybe Federals. Isn't that the USFL team,
- 1:22:38Speaker 1: the Washington Federals. I think they were. Yeah, it's amazing.
- 1:22:41Speaker 1: How I mean, I think we've talked about before about
- 1:22:43Speaker 1: how naming teams has changed over the year. It's like
- 1:22:45Speaker 1: back in the Red Sox White Sox, like socks on,
- 1:22:48Speaker 1: and now it's like what would be cool right marketing? Yeah, logo?
- 1:22:53Speaker 1: What captures the zeitgeist right now for our team? What
- 1:22:55Speaker 1: are the kids like? What looks good on a hat?
- 1:22:58Speaker 1: We we we tested, we hu that. I think it's
- 1:23:01Speaker 1: important in all seriously, like your colors, your marks like
- 1:23:04Speaker 1: that that that's important looks Yeah, there's why. And I
- 1:23:08Speaker 1: think there's too many like teals in the world now,
- 1:23:10Speaker 1: Like it's like there's no like, that's why. I really
- 1:23:12Speaker 1: like the cracking. Have you seen those uniforms. It's like, yep,
- 1:23:15Speaker 1: it's different, but I like it. I don't know, it's
- 1:23:18Speaker 1: not weird. It's a typical color domination, but again the
- 1:23:22Speaker 1: marks what you know you're looking at, That's what I mean.
- 1:23:26Speaker 1: You could be, you know, the Huskies and have the
- 1:23:29Speaker 1: same exact uniform, like it doesn't matter what it's cracking, yeah,
- 1:23:33Speaker 1: because it's not like the colors of cracking. Yeah. Film,
- 1:23:37Speaker 1: all right, all right, film, we are we assuming they're
- 1:23:40Speaker 1: going to keep the color scheme though in Washington they
- 1:23:43Speaker 1: have to maybe, I mean, maybe it depends on the
- 1:23:45Speaker 1: Maybe it depends on the I think the mascot. I mean,
- 1:23:48Speaker 1: if if it's the red tail, if you're the Washington
- 1:23:50Speaker 1: Federal that's the way the admirals, Yeah, maybe they well
- 1:23:55Speaker 1: you go with the navy color. Navy colors. Yeah. Two
- 1:23:58Speaker 1: of the final names have read in them, so I
- 1:24:00Speaker 1: thank god I think that they've announced they have what
- 1:24:05Speaker 1: are they? We have at number nine, the Defenders at eight,
- 1:24:10Speaker 1: the Commanders, the Red Hawks, the Brigade, the Sentinels, the Admirals,
- 1:24:15Speaker 1: the Presidents, the Armada, and the Red Hogs Red red
- 1:24:19Speaker 1: Hogs after the Hogs. These are finalists or they this
- 1:24:23Speaker 1: is the finalist on CBS dot com. By the team
- 1:24:27Speaker 1: hasn't put that out there, like if because the Washington
- 1:24:31Speaker 1: put that out, what's the source of that well, the
- 1:24:33Speaker 1: team specifically said that Red Wolves will not be the
- 1:24:36Speaker 1: name that was like supposedly the winner of a fan contest. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:24:40Speaker 1: and it won't be. They said, that won't be the name.
- 1:24:43Speaker 1: Disregard the contest, right, And I don't know the details.
- 1:24:46Speaker 1: It might have been like the one that Washington Okay, okay,
- 1:24:51Speaker 1: my bad, No, that's okay. You're looking up information trying,
- 1:24:55Speaker 1: you know. Felger had they do like these these random
- 1:24:58Speaker 1: questions with Badard on Tuesdays, And one of the ones
- 1:25:02Speaker 1: that I thought was kind of interesting, actually, he was like,
- 1:25:03Speaker 1: which team and nickname best fits like the team region,
- 1:25:11Speaker 1: you know, the region, the city whatever in the NFL,
- 1:25:14Speaker 1: Like what goes best with the Patriots? Well, I mean
- 1:25:21Speaker 1: at the time, New York Jets, you know, they were
- 1:25:24Speaker 1: like you had you had the two airports right there
- 1:25:27Speaker 1: and everything, and three over SHA Stadium. I mean the
- 1:25:30Speaker 1: planes were constantly flying over, so it made sense. Yeah,
- 1:25:33Speaker 1: I mean I think that they all picked the Dallas Cowboys. Yeah,
- 1:25:38Speaker 1: they and then they said Texans the Pittsburgh Steelers because
- 1:25:41Speaker 1: they and they all and they all said the Patriots
- 1:25:44Speaker 1: deserved to be and I would agree with all three. Yeah,
- 1:25:47Speaker 1: what's the worst um crackins. I haven't seen it. The
- 1:25:52Speaker 1: Arizona Cardinals got a lot, you know a lot of
- 1:25:55Speaker 1: these lake but those are it's like three, it's three
- 1:25:58Speaker 1: removed from like Chicago to Saint Louis, you know, and
- 1:26:02Speaker 1: it doesn't really make any sense, right, you know. Felger
- 1:26:05Speaker 1: was very down on all of basically like the birds,
- 1:26:07Speaker 1: like falcons, the sea hut, like in general, foul fan.
- 1:26:11Speaker 1: How was that necessarily tied to your yeah place Baltimore Orioles. Correct,
- 1:26:17Speaker 1: that's that's a good one. Yeah, that then that that
- 1:26:19Speaker 1: would be different the Utah Jazz. Is there a lot?
- 1:26:22Speaker 1: There are a lot of falcons in Atlanta. I don't know.
- 1:26:25Speaker 1: Maybe there are, I don't know, he asked, He asked,
- 1:26:29Speaker 1: unlike a lawyer. I don't know. I don't asking question.
- 1:26:32Speaker 1: You don't know. There's at least fifty three. Yeah, I'm
- 1:26:35Speaker 1: calling in because there's a ton of falcons in Atlanta,
- 1:26:38Speaker 1: and Paul is wrong, and I'm mad at him about it.
- 1:26:41Speaker 1: He disrespected us, the falcons, the disrespect between eight million falcons,
- 1:26:46Speaker 1: and so I thought that was kind of interesting though,
- 1:26:48Speaker 1: likes like even even the packers, which it's like completely
- 1:26:53Speaker 1: antiquated it's back from like the meat packing industry. Packers, yeah,
- 1:26:57Speaker 1: and the meat packers, but they were packed cheese. No,
- 1:27:01Speaker 1: I don't know. Stop stop about what about the Vikings.
- 1:27:07Speaker 1: Well there's a big Norse yeah right, that one work
- 1:27:10Speaker 1: heritage there, so that one would work to Montreal Canadians. Claire,
- 1:27:23Speaker 1: Hello everyone, Hello Marine, a happy new Year and all
- 1:27:27Speaker 1: that jazz. You just had a mail in you already know.
- 1:27:29Speaker 1: I love the show, but I've been in such a
- 1:27:30Speaker 1: down mood today. However, Marines, fab intro of you all
- 1:27:34Speaker 1: made me giggle so much and you are so great
- 1:27:37Speaker 1: that I needed to thank you for cheering me up. Matthew, Yeah,
- 1:27:40Speaker 1: so I hope you're feeling better, Claire, I don't know, Yes,
- 1:27:43Speaker 1: feel better, Claire, cheer up. Buttercup. Hello, clear, turn that
- 1:27:47Speaker 1: frown upside down. It's that time of the year though,
- 1:27:50Speaker 1: I mean, especially like football season ending. I mean well,
- 1:27:53Speaker 1: I kind of feel at the end of the holiday season,
- 1:27:57Speaker 1: a lot of people have that seasonal you know, depression. Well,
- 1:28:00Speaker 1: that's why I told my wife when we moved here.
- 1:28:01Speaker 1: I'm like getting She's like, well the weather and I'm like,
- 1:28:03Speaker 1: whoa November December, it's holidays, Thanksgiving, December, you're into it,
- 1:28:07Speaker 1: you like the cool, and then as soon as it's over,
- 1:28:08Speaker 1: you're like January February and how I got two and
- 1:28:10Speaker 1: a half months no holidays? Murder Who Wow, it's awful.
- 1:28:16Speaker 1: They're two awful months. Alex in Patucket. Uh here at
- 1:28:20Speaker 1: work heard what Fred said. I had to stop myself
- 1:28:23Speaker 1: from busting out laughing in the office. Love the show
- 1:28:25Speaker 1: even more. I have two things to bring up. One,
- 1:28:28Speaker 1: with all the talk about wings, I was craving some yesterday,
- 1:28:31Speaker 1: so I try to spot in Patucket called D's Spot,
- 1:28:34Speaker 1: and the wings were really good. Highly recommending spots D D. Two.
- 1:28:41Speaker 1: Do you think the team is focused on getting through
- 1:28:43Speaker 1: Miami without many injuries heading into the playoffs, or are
- 1:28:46Speaker 1: they thinking, hey, we can potentially win the division and
- 1:28:48Speaker 1: be in a better spot trying to win the game. Absolutely,
- 1:28:52Speaker 1: I think I would think that they would want to
- 1:28:54Speaker 1: put themselves in the best position, but the likelihood of
- 1:28:56Speaker 1: it coming true disgustingly, rooting for the Jets to beat
- 1:28:59Speaker 1: the Bill does seem slim. So I do find it
- 1:29:02Speaker 1: difficult to think that the team would want to risk
- 1:29:04Speaker 1: injuring people they use all the time. It's a difficult
- 1:29:08Speaker 1: balance they have to try to strike because Paul's right,
- 1:29:11Speaker 1: I think they want to win the game and try
- 1:29:12Speaker 1: to give themselves. You know, however, slim a chance it
- 1:29:15Speaker 1: is at winning the division, maybe getting the number one
- 1:29:18Speaker 1: over than six or seven, Like even that to me
- 1:29:22Speaker 1: is yes, And I would say second in the division too,
- 1:29:26Speaker 1: like I mean, you know, like just Miami anyway. Yeah,
- 1:29:30Speaker 1: but still I think to lose two games to Miami,
- 1:29:32Speaker 1: and I just don't think this is a good enough
- 1:29:33Speaker 1: team to like, we'll take a week off, we'll be good,
- 1:29:36Speaker 1: let's rest all these guys and we'll just pick it up.
- 1:29:38Speaker 1: The only we have to go to only problems. We
- 1:29:40Speaker 1: have recent history to look at with games like the
- 1:29:43Speaker 1: unfortunate one that we always turned, the Corpse of Stephen
- 1:29:45Speaker 1: Jackson game where or even the one with the Fitz
- 1:29:49Speaker 1: Magic a couple of years ago, where like, you know,
- 1:29:51Speaker 1: they got to win this game, you know, they have
- 1:29:53Speaker 1: to win, and then they come out flat and they
- 1:29:55Speaker 1: if they don't play well, they don't play well. But
- 1:29:56Speaker 1: I don't think it's gonna be because of what the
- 1:29:58Speaker 1: email Will talked about, Like, don't think the Fitz Magic
- 1:30:00Speaker 1: game was because they were trying to protect players and yeah,
- 1:30:04Speaker 1: that's even healthy. Now. The Stephen Jackson game, you know,
- 1:30:08Speaker 1: to this day, I've yet to hear any sort of
- 1:30:10Speaker 1: rational explanation for that game. It was funny and Fats
- 1:30:13Speaker 1: cast fits. He brought that up and like like out
- 1:30:15Speaker 1: of nowhere, I'm like, how does this game keep coming up?
- 1:30:17Speaker 1: Like and he ran down like the stat like you know,
- 1:30:19Speaker 1: they ran Stephen Jackson like fifty, like he just thought
- 1:30:21Speaker 1: of it. And I'm like, oh, we talk about that
- 1:30:22Speaker 1: one all the time. The Stephen Jackson game. I could
- 1:30:25Speaker 1: play the hits from them from the last six weeks
- 1:30:27Speaker 1: in the fifteen season, but I was gonna say, though,
- 1:30:30Speaker 1: I think, I mean, I think that Dolphins game that fits.
- 1:30:32Speaker 1: Magic game was like this is this is who you are,
- 1:30:35Speaker 1: you know, and that's like this game. That's the very point.
- 1:30:38Speaker 1: I don't think they didn't go into that game saying
- 1:30:40Speaker 1: we're gonna rest everybody today. It was like you guys,
- 1:30:43Speaker 1: you're you're trending down and it's and you probably don't
- 1:30:46Speaker 1: have it. That's that's what you don't want to see
- 1:30:48Speaker 1: this weekend. Jack says um about my snowblower. Back in
- 1:30:53Speaker 1: my day, we didn't use a snowblower. I grew up
- 1:30:56Speaker 1: in ann Arbor. Did you have a shovel? And back
- 1:30:59Speaker 1: in the old day before climate change, we got a
- 1:31:01Speaker 1: lot of snow. Our house was on a hill and
- 1:31:03Speaker 1: the drive it was long, and every morning in the
- 1:31:07Speaker 1: winter I got up at six am and shovel that
- 1:31:10Speaker 1: driveway by hand before breakfast. It took about half an hour.
- 1:31:14Speaker 1: If you were younger, I would say, don't worry about
- 1:31:16Speaker 1: the snowblower being broken, just shovel by hand. You gotta
- 1:31:20Speaker 1: get one of those snow jos that we were talking
- 1:31:22Speaker 1: about this morning. That's a great email. Um, you guys
- 1:31:25Speaker 1: have seen that those commercials, right, yeah, for the snow Joe. Yeah,
- 1:31:28Speaker 1: I'm in those blue electric things. Okay, So here's what
- 1:31:30Speaker 1: I'm thinking. If it's over two inches, Freddy, there's no
- 1:31:35Speaker 1: way you could do your yard with that. You have
- 1:31:37Speaker 1: to go out there like every hour. What I'm intrigued
- 1:31:39Speaker 1: by with with something like that is like, it can't
- 1:31:42Speaker 1: be that expensive, right, two hundred bucks. So if you
- 1:31:45Speaker 1: could get something like that and it worked, I'm not
- 1:31:47Speaker 1: talking about working on two feet of snow. My snowblower
- 1:31:50Speaker 1: doesn't work on two feet of snow either, Okay, But
- 1:31:52Speaker 1: if you got like six inches four inches right right
- 1:31:56Speaker 1: walkway stairs, back deck, like to use that as opposed
- 1:32:01Speaker 1: to having to shovel it. It's it might be worth
- 1:32:03Speaker 1: picking something like that up. There's no way it works
- 1:32:05Speaker 1: as well as no, I know. And that's the thing
- 1:32:09Speaker 1: slow this morning. I'm like, I'm kind of intrigued by it.
- 1:32:12Speaker 1: I always I always mock and ridicule infomercials, but I
- 1:32:15Speaker 1: will say, like every five years or so, somewhere you
- 1:32:18Speaker 1: really I do something like they have that little uh
- 1:32:22Speaker 1: what is this that I did something again? It's five
- 1:32:26Speaker 1: years that that little um, I don't even know what
- 1:32:32Speaker 1: it's called. It's like, I don't know what, like a
- 1:32:34Speaker 1: garden weasel. It's like a little weed puller. It's like
- 1:32:37Speaker 1: you know, it's it's like a stick with a handle. Yeah,
- 1:32:40Speaker 1: it has no those No I have one. I have
- 1:32:43Speaker 1: one of those two. But Beth bought that that actually
- 1:32:45Speaker 1: works reason it will be well, um, but it's like
- 1:32:48Speaker 1: a long pole with wheels and like it has like
- 1:32:52Speaker 1: a yeah it has a no, just just like one
- 1:32:54Speaker 1: razor at the end. Like you can so you can
- 1:32:56Speaker 1: get like if you have like a walkway, that's you know,
- 1:33:00Speaker 1: with with pavers you can get in between or if
- 1:33:04Speaker 1: you have like the sidewalk crack with grass grows, you
- 1:33:06Speaker 1: can go like this and you watch it on TV
- 1:33:09Speaker 1: and you're like the guy just like he's like drinking,
- 1:33:13Speaker 1: drinking like a bud light is he's going it does
- 1:33:17Speaker 1: it doesn't work like it doesn't work like first time,
- 1:33:19Speaker 1: did you even get one out of it? Sometimes those
- 1:33:21Speaker 1: things work good once. Oh I've used it four or
- 1:33:22Speaker 1: five times and it does help a little bit, but
- 1:33:25Speaker 1: it doesn't work. You still gotta get on your hands
- 1:33:27Speaker 1: and knees and rip and rip the roots out like
- 1:33:29Speaker 1: it it does like it helps for the water to
- 1:33:32Speaker 1: use the pesticide, I mean the round up. I just
- 1:33:37Speaker 1: soak it, Freddy. It works. Yeah, that work, but it
- 1:33:39Speaker 1: kills it. But you still have to go and get it.
- 1:33:42Speaker 1: You just leave. You never used your nut wizard, did you? Well?
- 1:33:47Speaker 1: I never had to really Ever since that year, you
- 1:33:51Speaker 1: haven't had He's never produced the acorns that they did
- 1:33:53Speaker 1: that year. Last year I had a big acorn year. Really,
- 1:33:57Speaker 1: I never had a year like that after that. It
- 1:33:59Speaker 1: was somebody. Somebody, somebody got it from like Christmas. I
- 1:34:02Speaker 1: think they they gave it to do it, because I
- 1:34:06Speaker 1: mean my backyard was covered in acorns and because of that,
- 1:34:10Speaker 1: the mice. So right here, it says the Bills have
- 1:34:13Speaker 1: a forty five percent chance of being the third seed
- 1:34:16Speaker 1: and only a thirty four percent chance of being the
- 1:34:18Speaker 1: fourth seed. And that's according to FPI on ESPN. I
- 1:34:22Speaker 1: I don't know how that's calculated. I don't know how
- 1:34:25Speaker 1: they figure the Bengals are probably gonna lose to the Browns.
- 1:34:29Speaker 1: And this is not based on personnel. This is based
- 1:34:33Speaker 1: on seventeen weeks worth of data. Yeah, that's what the
- 1:34:36Speaker 1: football percent. Because that's the thing is, Baker Mayfield's not
- 1:34:41Speaker 1: playing for Cleveland either. But do you think do you
- 1:34:44Speaker 1: think the decision not to play Burrow is because the
- 1:34:47Speaker 1: Bengals want to play the Patriots. No, it's because of
- 1:34:50Speaker 1: his knee. Yeah, oh, Dane, there's no conspiracy there. I'm
- 1:34:54Speaker 1: sure you could find one if you searched, like like
- 1:34:57Speaker 1: you want, because that's what I would want, is like,
- 1:35:00Speaker 1: if we end up playing they wanted to play us, well,
- 1:35:03Speaker 1: now they're gonna pay. Now they're gonna pay. You want us,
- 1:35:06Speaker 1: you'll get us. So it's Jamar Chase playing because if
- 1:35:09Speaker 1: the Patriots are gonna play I might want to put
- 1:35:10Speaker 1: him in bubble route this week too. Yeah. You know,
- 1:35:13Speaker 1: I wouldn't be surprised if the you know, you see
- 1:35:16Speaker 1: like a scrimmage between the Browns and the Bengals this weekend. Yeah,
- 1:35:19Speaker 1: I mean neither quarterback is gonna play. YEAHA Mayfield's getting surgery.
- 1:35:23Speaker 1: Throw the records out, yeah, shoulder Yeah. Phill and Westport,
- 1:35:29Speaker 1: Connecticut says the ultimate rubber match we were talking about
- 1:35:32Speaker 1: times you played another team three times was eighty five
- 1:35:36Speaker 1: Patriots versus Dolphins. Squished the fish. The Patriots have a
- 1:35:40Speaker 1: simple formula of relying on defense. The Bill's rematch was
- 1:35:43Speaker 1: more a defensive failure than an offensive disappointment. In my opinion,
- 1:35:48Speaker 1: Thank you Rache Jackson. He makes that pick. We could
- 1:35:51Speaker 1: be hosting in two weeks. I think it was both.
- 1:35:53Speaker 1: By the way, you did very little offensively and you
- 1:35:56Speaker 1: did less than little defensively. What can Bill and Josh
- 1:35:59Speaker 1: cook up in the playoffs to catch the opposition? I
- 1:36:04Speaker 1: don't understand. Play well, yeah, yeah, don't make mistakes. Be better? Yeah. Um.
- 1:36:12Speaker 1: David writes in in Wisconsin, after you guys do some
- 1:36:16Speaker 1: research and hear what analysts say about the quarterbacks in
- 1:36:19Speaker 1: the twenty twenty two draft. I'd like to hear your
- 1:36:21Speaker 1: opinions if Matt could be the first quarterback taken out
- 1:36:24Speaker 1: of this group. Yeah, because I think this is an
- 1:36:28Speaker 1: extremely weak quarterback crop. Also, have any assistant coaches McDaniels, Mayo,
- 1:36:33Speaker 1: Steve Belichick been asked to interview for head coach openings,
- 1:36:38Speaker 1: not that we know of, let me know of as yet. Yeah,
- 1:36:40Speaker 1: McDaniels was not on the Jaguars list. It seems most
- 1:36:43Speaker 1: assistant coaches currently ahead. Uh, it seems most assistant coaches
- 1:36:48Speaker 1: currently employed by a team in the playoff hunt I
- 1:36:51Speaker 1: have already or already qualified the playoffs are holding off
- 1:36:55Speaker 1: with interviews until their teams are eliminated. New wrinkle this
- 1:36:59Speaker 1: season the NFL and plemented but doesn't seem to have
- 1:37:01Speaker 1: really worked, was that this year. I didn't realize, Wait,
- 1:37:05Speaker 1: what is what is the question change? He's saying that
- 1:37:07Speaker 1: you can't interview the players. The coaches or assistants that
- 1:37:11Speaker 1: are on lists are holding off their interviews until their
- 1:37:14Speaker 1: team is eliminated, even though they to do it. Yeah, okay, yeah,
- 1:37:21Speaker 1: unless I saw. I think Jim Caldwell was was interviewing
- 1:37:23Speaker 1: down with Jackson Caldwell and he's won, and they another
- 1:37:27Speaker 1: one with Jacksonville left, which yeah, Well and Caldwell out
- 1:37:31Speaker 1: that might be interested. I saw that yesterday and approach Jim. Yea,
- 1:37:35Speaker 1: Jim might be interested in coming back. Yeah, so I
- 1:37:38Speaker 1: found that interesting. Maybe he feels like, you know, I
- 1:37:41Speaker 1: finally got Michigan back to where they should have bandoned.
- 1:37:43Speaker 1: Now I can leave. I don't know. I think that's
- 1:37:46Speaker 1: kind of lousy on his part because they stuck by him.
- 1:37:48Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, um, And I think there was probably a
- 1:37:52Speaker 1: lot of pressure. I think another guy would have been
- 1:37:54Speaker 1: fired before. But you know, he's such a legacy there. Um,
- 1:37:58Speaker 1: the Josh McDaniels thing. I say this to you all
- 1:38:00Speaker 1: the time, like we love Josh, but there always seems
- 1:38:04Speaker 1: to be I'm removing myself in consideration from the Cleveland
- 1:38:08Speaker 1: Browns job, right. That request came from Cleveland, Josh. They
- 1:38:11Speaker 1: didn't offer you the job like I and we always
- 1:38:13Speaker 1: you know you and I always tease them about that.
- 1:38:15Speaker 1: This one reeks of that. Like there's a list that
- 1:38:17Speaker 1: comes out with Byron Leftwich. I think Todd Bowles was
- 1:38:22Speaker 1: on it, Jim Caldwell was on it. There was a handful,
- 1:38:27Speaker 1: it's like four or five guys, and Josh's name wasn't
- 1:38:31Speaker 1: mentioned right the next day, Greg Badard, Mike Reese, you
- 1:38:38Speaker 1: know a lot. I think Mike Giardi like a lot
- 1:38:40Speaker 1: of the local guys. The understanding in Jacksonville is that
- 1:38:46Speaker 1: the Jags intend to retain general manager Trent Balky. If
- 1:38:52Speaker 1: that's the case, Josh McDaniels would not be interested in
- 1:38:54Speaker 1: that job. So I think it's blatantly obvious he's putting
- 1:38:59Speaker 1: it out there. I didn't get asked. I this is
- 1:39:04Speaker 1: why I wasn't asked. I'm not interested. Yeah, because Trent
- 1:39:07Speaker 1: Bulky is going to stay there. Now, I think it's
- 1:39:09Speaker 1: absolutely insane. If Jacksonville retains Trent Bulky, you want to
- 1:39:13Speaker 1: get the best coach available to replace the guy you
- 1:39:16Speaker 1: had to let go. You got a clean house and
- 1:39:18Speaker 1: let him figure it out. But what if I'm not saying,
- 1:39:21Speaker 1: but what if he was asked he said, are you
- 1:39:24Speaker 1: keeping the GM? They said yes, all right, I'm not interested,
- 1:39:27Speaker 1: and so he's not and I think people would have
- 1:39:29Speaker 1: reported that. Okay, that's all I'm saying. Yeah, I don't
- 1:39:32Speaker 1: have I don't have the information. You're right, I can't
- 1:39:34Speaker 1: tell you you're wrong. Probably I don't have all the information.
- 1:39:37Speaker 1: But my guess is if there's a list of six
- 1:39:39Speaker 1: or seven guys, yeah, everybody would have had him on
- 1:39:41Speaker 1: it and said he's not interested because they're going to
- 1:39:44Speaker 1: retain Bulky. Yeah. But I also heard that they were
- 1:39:48Speaker 1: that in general that it was going to be harder
- 1:39:52Speaker 1: for Jacksonville to get a desirable head coach because of
- 1:39:55Speaker 1: the desire to keep Bulky. Well, because I'm not going
- 1:39:57Speaker 1: to get a high level right, eliminating the best the
- 1:40:01Speaker 1: best candidate, right, makes no sense. Like if you're making
- 1:40:03Speaker 1: a change, make the change. I think I make just
- 1:40:06Speaker 1: shave half your face shave But Bud, could he come back? No, boy, No,
- 1:40:12Speaker 1: that's true. This climate way I think for Jacksonville, like
- 1:40:16Speaker 1: somebody like call well, it's just the same kind of thing.
- 1:40:18Speaker 1: Like I'd rather see them do something like San Francisco, Dad,
- 1:40:20Speaker 1: where they got Shanahan, you know, and coupled him with
- 1:40:23Speaker 1: a new general manager and you know, just a different
- 1:40:26Speaker 1: flavor to the team. Just bring something right. This is
- 1:40:28Speaker 1: an important hire for this franchise because you've got this
- 1:40:32Speaker 1: generational player at that most important position. You need somebody
- 1:40:37Speaker 1: who's going to be good for him. And if you
- 1:40:39Speaker 1: can't screw it up again. I think highway right. I
- 1:40:43Speaker 1: think given their interest in the UK, you know, they
- 1:40:46Speaker 1: should try to steal ted Lasso. Bring him, you know,
- 1:40:50Speaker 1: it needs that kind of personality to get rid of
- 1:40:52Speaker 1: the Hey, it's damn the party. Yeah, Phil in Vermont.
- 1:41:03Speaker 1: Sometimes I forget that we lived in the bubble of
- 1:41:05Speaker 1: Patriot's paradise and then not everyone knows what we know.
- 1:41:09Speaker 1: I found it amusing when on Sunday the CBS play
- 1:41:12Speaker 1: by play, guys don't remember who it was said, in
- 1:41:15Speaker 1: a surprising move, the Patriots have listed nikkil Harry as
- 1:41:18Speaker 1: a healthy scratch. It just made me chuckle because I'm
- 1:41:21Speaker 1: positive that there was not a single Patriot fan that
- 1:41:23Speaker 1: found this to be a surprising move. Come on, guys,
- 1:41:26Speaker 1: he stinks. I found it was mildly surprising. Yeah, guys,
- 1:41:32Speaker 1: out has that happened? Not because of his ability, but
- 1:41:35Speaker 1: I think people thought it was surprising because he had
- 1:41:37Speaker 1: played so much the week before. He played the most
- 1:41:39Speaker 1: snaps at the position the previous week, and the healthy
- 1:41:43Speaker 1: part of that is important. I don't think he's been
- 1:41:45Speaker 1: a healthy scratch yet. Yeah. And that's the weird thing
- 1:41:48Speaker 1: to me, is that if it is punitive that they
- 1:41:50Speaker 1: sat him for performance, like why now, Like like that
- 1:41:54Speaker 1: was the game that finally said, you know what, we
- 1:41:56Speaker 1: gotta get him Like I think they might have looked
- 1:41:58Speaker 1: at it. Yes, I think they might have looked at
- 1:42:00Speaker 1: it and said what I said yesterday about the running backs.
- 1:42:02Speaker 1: We need to get an extra running back in because
- 1:42:04Speaker 1: Stevens and Ann Harris are up this week and they
- 1:42:06Speaker 1: weren't the previous week. So someone had to go. And
- 1:42:11Speaker 1: we gave this guy a shot, he did nothing with it.
- 1:42:13Speaker 1: We're gonna get this guy a shot this week. We'll
- 1:42:15Speaker 1: see what happens. Well. I guess that's my question though.
- 1:42:16Speaker 1: Is it just was it just kind of a numbers
- 1:42:18Speaker 1: thing or was it like we gotta sit his ass down,
- 1:42:21Speaker 1: like you know what I mean. I think it's probably
- 1:42:23Speaker 1: more of a numbers Yeah. Maybe it's just we don't
- 1:42:26Speaker 1: need him going to block this game, so that could
- 1:42:28Speaker 1: be too. You know. PS, great Ted Williams stuff from
- 1:42:31Speaker 1: Mike the other day. Um, yeah, that was a great story.
- 1:42:34Speaker 1: Do you think there's a possibility that Wilkerson doesn't get
- 1:42:38Speaker 1: elevated from the practice squad this week? I don't know.
- 1:42:42Speaker 1: They protected him. They did protect him, protected the cost
- 1:42:46Speaker 1: I saw that they should. I didn't say whether they
- 1:42:49Speaker 1: should or not. I think we all agree that he
- 1:42:51Speaker 1: earned more playing time. Yeah, I think they will. Will
- 1:42:53Speaker 1: you be shocked if he doesn't get elevated a little bit,
- 1:42:56Speaker 1: a little bit just because I mean more because of
- 1:42:58Speaker 1: the mind Baggalo is healthy. I will playing. I will
- 1:43:00Speaker 1: not be surprised if he's not elevated from the practice squad.
- 1:43:03Speaker 1: I know everybody had him fitted for the Red Gem,
- 1:43:05Speaker 1: I know. And that's and that's that's the bigger on
- 1:43:07Speaker 1: this show, right, that's the bigger point. I mean, I
- 1:43:09Speaker 1: still don't all of a sudden think, oh, we think
- 1:43:12Speaker 1: we found something like he still seems like the same guy.
- 1:43:14Speaker 1: But I guess my coming at it from just like
- 1:43:17Speaker 1: to give the guy another chance, keep it going, you know,
- 1:43:19Speaker 1: give him another opportunity, promote him. I mean, clearly interesting
- 1:43:22Speaker 1: that they protected those four guys though they haven't protected anybody.
- 1:43:25Speaker 1: You know why this week? Maybe because people know, you know, oh,
- 1:43:31Speaker 1: it's later in the year. Well, and people need things, right,
- 1:43:34Speaker 1: people need things, and they might need things. It makes
- 1:43:36Speaker 1: total sense the patriots might need those things. Yeah, right, ump,
- 1:43:41Speaker 1: says um spiin Fresno says Eric would have been proud
- 1:43:45Speaker 1: if he'd heard Paul quite organically break out the word
- 1:43:47Speaker 1: moribund several weeks ago on Andy's show. Is that true, Paul?
- 1:43:53Speaker 1: Did you say did not? Was that the podcast for
- 1:43:56Speaker 1: an hour and a half. Um, I mean it's kind
- 1:44:02Speaker 1: of like nat I think it was. What was this
- 1:44:05Speaker 1: word of the day yesterday? Yeah? Sorry? Now I can
- 1:44:11Speaker 1: use for gayzy today if you want for gazy, Like
- 1:44:14Speaker 1: Robin Denver writes in uh some emailer an emailer crime here,
- 1:44:19Speaker 1: all of the emails saying how this team plays better
- 1:44:21Speaker 1: from ahead are ridiculous. Which team falls behind and then
- 1:44:24Speaker 1: thinks we got them right where we want them. Every
- 1:44:26Speaker 1: team plays better from ahead, agree, because you can dictate terms,
- 1:44:30Speaker 1: that is all. Yeah, I agree with that. However, not
- 1:44:33Speaker 1: every team doesn't play well from behind. Yeah, and this
- 1:44:37Speaker 1: team does not play well from behind rights the city.
- 1:44:40Speaker 1: Obviously they're better with a fourteen point lead than a
- 1:44:42Speaker 1: fourteen point deficit, but it really you know, they they
- 1:44:46Speaker 1: play just fine coming from behind as well. And Tom
- 1:44:49Speaker 1: Brady too, yes, to do that pretty good well, twenty
- 1:44:51Speaker 1: four to ten in the fourth quarter the other day. Um,
- 1:44:56Speaker 1: to what you Paul was talking about about that rating
- 1:44:59Speaker 1: about out you know on TV that you see He says,
- 1:45:02Speaker 1: I see this crap on ESPN that a team is
- 1:45:04Speaker 1: a two point underdog but have a fifty five percent
- 1:45:06Speaker 1: chance to win according to the FPI. The FPI, like
- 1:45:10Speaker 1: a lot of ESPN, makes little sense. See actually it's
- 1:45:13Speaker 1: the opposite, Oh on something like that. The data for
- 1:45:18Speaker 1: the spread isn't who they think is going to win.
- 1:45:21Speaker 1: It's money driven, whereas the other thing is strictly data
- 1:45:25Speaker 1: nub it's not biased. They're not telling you that the
- 1:45:28Speaker 1: team has a fifty five percent chance to win because
- 1:45:30Speaker 1: they think that team's gonna win. It's strictly numbers, But
- 1:45:34Speaker 1: now it's flawed because it's numbers that are generated over
- 1:45:38Speaker 1: all of the games. Doesn't take a consideration what's happening
- 1:45:41Speaker 1: now when who's playing in this game? Right, Like Cincinnati's offense,
- 1:45:45Speaker 1: my guess is ranked ridiculously high that if Joe Burrow's
- 1:45:50Speaker 1: not playing, that's not the same offense, right, um Lee
- 1:45:53Speaker 1: writes in the Fiskers stand up Weed Puller is freaking awesome,
- 1:45:58Speaker 1: Total backsaver. I endure it heartily. Fiskers is it nineteen
- 1:46:03Speaker 1: ninety five and available at three am on Channel I
- 1:46:06Speaker 1: think we should wait, cal Now, I got mine. When
- 1:46:08Speaker 1: I got mine from about thirty five, it was like
- 1:46:10Speaker 1: twenty nine, little Amazon Prime. Don't you think we should
- 1:46:13Speaker 1: be categorized as influencers. I mean they're making all this
- 1:46:17Speaker 1: money these days, these social media influencers. I think we
- 1:46:20Speaker 1: should be influencers. We should influencer. I agree we're severely underpaid. Yeah,
- 1:46:24Speaker 1: you know Jersey Mikes. Let's go. Yeah, Jersey Mikes and
- 1:46:29Speaker 1: all the other places. We love pizza time. Yeah, we
- 1:46:31Speaker 1: love our sponsors. Yeah, we love our friends at Duncan Donuts. There.
- 1:46:36Speaker 1: We were talking about Jim Harbaugh before, just a little
- 1:46:39Speaker 1: tweet coming up here about the Raiders being a likely
- 1:46:44Speaker 1: spot for him. They were looking for a coach West Coast,
- 1:46:50Speaker 1: I guess Vegas. Wow, Paul had something he wanted to say,
- 1:46:53Speaker 1: can't I'm intrigued, can't do us? Tell me? Tell me?
- 1:46:57Speaker 1: Tell me? After Brad writes in he's got some problems
- 1:47:00Speaker 1: with the volume levels. I'll send that over to our producer.
- 1:47:04Speaker 1: What's effort to get that rectified? So Stephen wants to
- 1:47:12Speaker 1: know he's in South Carolina? Can you wait? Can you
- 1:47:15Speaker 1: explain the Patriots and Center for winning this game? For
- 1:47:18Speaker 1: seating's sake, what do they stand to game? Oh my god,
- 1:47:21Speaker 1: I think well if if Buffalo loses, obviously it's a
- 1:47:25Speaker 1: slim possibility, but you could get a home game, so
- 1:47:27Speaker 1: you can move up significantly to three two or even one. Yeah,
- 1:47:31Speaker 1: but if you just win, regardless of what else happens,
- 1:47:34Speaker 1: you lock yourself into the five spot. Yeah. So in theory,
- 1:47:38Speaker 1: four is weaker than three two and one, right, yep, yep,
- 1:47:42Speaker 1: So don't you want to finish as high as you can? Sure?
- 1:47:45Speaker 1: And then and then you can start to factor in
- 1:47:46Speaker 1: if you were, you know, to beat four, you might
- 1:47:49Speaker 1: potentially be going to Tennessee. And what was the year, Paul,
- 1:47:51Speaker 1: And you'll know this right off the top of your
- 1:47:53Speaker 1: head that whoever the quarterback was just threw it into
- 1:47:57Speaker 1: the castle to the stands the podcast Your point one
- 1:48:00Speaker 1: by Jacksonville the playoff exactly jackson Right, So they didn't
- 1:48:03Speaker 1: want to move up. Yeah, yeah, that was so five?
- 1:48:07Speaker 1: I think was five? Was that the Fluty drop kit
- 1:48:11Speaker 1: came too? Yes, that was the same same game was
- 1:48:14Speaker 1: Miami Finale. They lost because they intentionally missed a two
- 1:48:18Speaker 1: point conversion, but Flute kicked an extra drop ticked an
- 1:48:21Speaker 1: extra point in the same game, big moment for you. Yeah,
- 1:48:25Speaker 1: twenty twenty six. If you asked, I would have just
- 1:48:29Speaker 1: told you New Year's Day. Was that New Year's Day?
- 1:48:32Speaker 1: New Year's Day? Two? How are you in the sex Yeah?
- 1:48:35Speaker 1: Well yes, yes, um raj from Saint Louis. Since it's
- 1:48:41Speaker 1: anything goes, how would you tier the playoff teams? Here's mine.
- 1:48:46Speaker 1: Tier one would be Kansas City in Green Bay. Tier
- 1:48:49Speaker 1: two is the Titans, Bills Rams in Tampa. Tier three
- 1:48:54Speaker 1: of the Colts since Cowboys in Arizona. The Patriots are
- 1:48:57Speaker 1: in Tier three. Tier four is the Patriots San Francisco,
- 1:49:01Speaker 1: and Tier five of the Charges and Eagles. Real tough
- 1:49:05Speaker 1: on the Patriots there. Yeah, it's a lot of tears.
- 1:49:08Speaker 1: Imagine me five tears, right, yes, right, let's let's take
- 1:49:12Speaker 1: that in a different direction. We have another ten ten
- 1:49:14Speaker 1: or so minutes. Rank the quarterbacks in the AFC playoffs,
- 1:49:18Speaker 1: assuming that you can. You can use eight if you want,
- 1:49:21Speaker 1: you can put Chargers and Raiders. Okay, Mahomes, Yeah, uh,
- 1:49:26Speaker 1: well the way he's playing right now, Burrow. But but Mahomes,
- 1:49:29Speaker 1: I'm going to take yeah, and then Burrow probably second. Yeah, Alan,
- 1:49:34Speaker 1: Alan Herbert. It's tough because he's so inconsistent. All right,
- 1:49:43Speaker 1: let's make it this way, Paul, I mean you're not
- 1:49:45Speaker 1: doing it right. No, No, that you guys are doing
- 1:49:47Speaker 1: it perfectly. Fine. Where would you put Mac you guys
- 1:49:51Speaker 1: did it. I wouldn't have equipped with anything in the bottom.
- 1:49:56Speaker 1: I put him above No, just I put him above Wentz.
- 1:50:00Speaker 1: I would put him above Wentz. I think he's playing
- 1:50:03Speaker 1: better than Wentz right now, so I would put him
- 1:50:04Speaker 1: above Wentz. Would you put him above Tannehill? I wouldn't know.
- 1:50:08Speaker 1: I might, I might, I wouldn't. But that's a bigger
- 1:50:10Speaker 1: picture question than right, because of the experience factor. Experience, athleticism, yeah, everything, athleticism.
- 1:50:17Speaker 1: I'd say, would you say, would you give us eight?
- 1:50:19Speaker 1: You said yeah, I would put a car Herbert and
- 1:50:22Speaker 1: uh Tannehill I had, I would put seventh right now.
- 1:50:25Speaker 1: I would have Wentz eight on that list because I
- 1:50:28Speaker 1: think Wentz is not really playing very well, and people
- 1:50:30Speaker 1: like being seventh of the playoff teams. It's not a
- 1:50:34Speaker 1: bad thing for a rookie quarterback. Being in the playoffs
- 1:50:37Speaker 1: is not a bad But I was just wondering how
- 1:50:39Speaker 1: you guys felt about it. You know, sometimes you know,
- 1:50:43Speaker 1: and a lot of Borough crushes. I mean, I know
- 1:50:45Speaker 1: I have one, Yeah, but I think he's a cool time.
- 1:50:48Speaker 1: I'll tell you exactly what will happen. Me forecast next
- 1:50:52Speaker 1: week for you. Enlighten us. Let me to forecast next
- 1:50:54Speaker 1: week for yes, if we happen to me now for
- 1:50:56Speaker 1: your free raid and be ready for a whole week
- 1:50:59Speaker 1: if we If we play cincident in the wild card round,
- 1:51:03Speaker 1: he sucks, Yeah, I'm just gonna tell you right now.
- 1:51:06Speaker 1: Bad teams. I mean Baltimore was decimated. The whole secondary
- 1:51:10Speaker 1: was out. Kid Like, he's not going to do that
- 1:51:12Speaker 1: to belichis on your team then? And also, man's better
- 1:51:16Speaker 1: than Jamar Chase. Tara Sullivan wrote it today, Boston call him.
- 1:51:22Speaker 1: I would go with Mac. Okay, Like again, I do
- 1:51:26Speaker 1: not diminish, I do not discount the possibility that he
- 1:51:30Speaker 1: will win because he's a quarterback. Just don't tell me
- 1:51:32Speaker 1: that he had a better year than Jamar Chase, and
- 1:51:34Speaker 1: don't tell me it was close. And if it was,
- 1:51:36Speaker 1: to tell me you're given Mac the award because he's
- 1:51:39Speaker 1: a quarterback, and that's harder to do. And I would
- 1:51:41Speaker 1: say I have no problem with that reasoning none. It
- 1:51:44Speaker 1: is harder to do Yeah, even if it was a
- 1:51:46Speaker 1: level playing field like the season, that Mac would have
- 1:51:48Speaker 1: to have to have the equivalent of what Jamar Chase did,
- 1:51:50Speaker 1: which is essentially like he's too and wide receivers, right, exactly,
- 1:51:57Speaker 1: like not rookie receivers. That's where he ar. Yeah, but
- 1:52:03Speaker 1: if you want to tell me that it's way harder
- 1:52:05Speaker 1: for a quarterback to do what Mac did than it
- 1:52:07Speaker 1: is with Chase to do what he did, I would agree. Yeah,
- 1:52:09Speaker 1: I would agree with that. I think Darren Ravel today
- 1:52:13Speaker 1: tweeted out and from Caesar's their rankings, but Jamar Chase
- 1:52:17Speaker 1: has leap frogged over Mac Jones, well, I mean for
- 1:52:20Speaker 1: Rookie of the Year. I also, I also think it's
- 1:52:22Speaker 1: good for a non quarterback to win some of these
- 1:52:25Speaker 1: awards because it shouldn't just be about who's the best quarterback.
- 1:52:28Speaker 1: Shouldn't be a popularity contest like that, you know, like
- 1:52:32Speaker 1: there are other positions that are meaningful and important and valuable,
- 1:52:35Speaker 1: and like they should get recognition when they do things
- 1:52:37Speaker 1: like Jamar Chase is doing. But again, Michael Parsons, that
- 1:52:40Speaker 1: was based on odds, like he leap frogged and based
- 1:52:44Speaker 1: on odds, right, I would contend that Mac has had
- 1:52:46Speaker 1: the best odds because of what I'm saying. Yeah, because
- 1:52:49Speaker 1: he's a quarters He's a quarterback, right, and the odds
- 1:52:52Speaker 1: think chances are hard, they're going to give it to
- 1:52:54Speaker 1: the quarterback who's had a good year. Yeah, It's not
- 1:52:56Speaker 1: like it would be a travesty if Mac Jones wins
- 1:52:58Speaker 1: Rookie of the Year, right, I mean, first of all,
- 1:53:01Speaker 1: who cares? But it's not It's not like you would
- 1:53:05Speaker 1: go back and say, remember how they botched it in
- 1:53:08Speaker 1: twenty twenty one when they gave Mac Jones the Rookie
- 1:53:10Speaker 1: of the Year. No one's ever gonna say that. Yeah.
- 1:53:12Speaker 1: And if he does win and he's at those uh
- 1:53:16Speaker 1: NFL Honors honor show, he should wear the exact same
- 1:53:18Speaker 1: suit he wore when he was drafted and he's like
- 1:53:22Speaker 1: twenty three. It's the only suit he has, everybody, And honest,
- 1:53:25Speaker 1: but that's a question I thought of, and I wish
- 1:53:27Speaker 1: I had the list of me. But you know, are
- 1:53:28Speaker 1: there examples of other quarterbacks that one offensive rookie of
- 1:53:32Speaker 1: the year that was like they were fine and then
- 1:53:34Speaker 1: they went on to be okay to below average quarterbacks?
- 1:53:37Speaker 1: You know, I'd have to go back and look, but
- 1:53:38Speaker 1: I just wonder if this has kind of happened before
- 1:53:40Speaker 1: Baker Mayfield. Baker Mayfield, he was rookie of the year.
- 1:53:43Speaker 1: I'm pretty sure. Yeah it was Dak he said, But
- 1:53:46Speaker 1: Dad's been better than fine. Right, No, No, I'm just
- 1:53:49Speaker 1: I just I can't remember if he wanted or not
- 1:53:51Speaker 1: with did Roethlisberger win it? He had to have wanted,
- 1:53:54Speaker 1: right he was. He had lost lost one game. Yeah, playoffs,
- 1:53:58Speaker 1: it's just Chase, It's just a he actually actually he
- 1:54:01Speaker 1: lost games. They had already lost that first game. Yeah,
- 1:54:05Speaker 1: he was under when he lost he took over. They
- 1:54:08Speaker 1: had already lost a game when he took over. That's
- 1:54:09Speaker 1: what I mean. So he had lost no games. I
- 1:54:12Speaker 1: know he lost one game, I said, except for the players.
- 1:54:15Speaker 1: He lost another game in the playoffs. He doesn't lose
- 1:54:17Speaker 1: any game. He didn't lose the regular season was thirteen
- 1:54:19Speaker 1: and oh in the regular season after oh, I see
- 1:54:25Speaker 1: not win Rookie of the year. Just looked it up.
- 1:54:29Speaker 1: Who did that? He was? I just I just wonder
- 1:54:32Speaker 1: in retrospect if there was a quarterback who wanted who
- 1:54:34Speaker 1: at the time, Hey, yeah, solid season quarter is going
- 1:54:37Speaker 1: to be something. But ultimately it didn't. I mean, you
- 1:54:40Speaker 1: look at Jamar Chase and you're like, this guy is
- 1:54:41Speaker 1: a top five wide receiver for the next ten years,
- 1:54:44Speaker 1: and that's pretty seems like a pretty seat. Hayfield set
- 1:54:47Speaker 1: the NFL rookie record for most touchdown passes in the
- 1:54:49Speaker 1: season with twenty seven, passing Peyton Manning and Russell Wilson
- 1:54:53Speaker 1: uh in just fourteen games, and did not win. He lost.
- 1:55:00Speaker 1: Say Kuon Barkley, that's yeah, see, that's that was a
- 1:55:03Speaker 1: good pick. I mean, say Quon Barkley was tearing it
- 1:55:06Speaker 1: up that year. But that's an example if you want
- 1:55:07Speaker 1: to talk about running backs, Now, what's he done. That's
- 1:55:09Speaker 1: a whole different we hurt, yeh hurt right, that's a
- 1:55:14Speaker 1: whole different thing. That's it goes back to that conversation
- 1:55:16Speaker 1: we have with with Derrick Henry where it's like when
- 1:55:18Speaker 1: a one running back is kind of the identity of
- 1:55:20Speaker 1: your team and you build the team around him and
- 1:55:22Speaker 1: that's you know, play action and everything that you want,
- 1:55:24Speaker 1: and then he goes down, it could still be the
- 1:55:27Speaker 1: number one seed I know, and I think he's still
- 1:55:29Speaker 1: like eighth and rushing yards right now, Like even though
- 1:55:30Speaker 1: he hasn't played like half the season. But it's similar
- 1:55:33Speaker 1: with with say Kwon Barkley. I think that, you know,
- 1:55:35Speaker 1: just something to think about when you, you know, try
- 1:55:37Speaker 1: to build your team around and running back. But they've
- 1:55:40Speaker 1: they've been able to compensate for the loss of him
- 1:55:43Speaker 1: with other running backs. Yeah, Like it's not like they
- 1:55:45Speaker 1: haven't been able to run the ball. They've been built
- 1:55:47Speaker 1: a running team, built a running game, right yeah, yeah,
- 1:55:50Speaker 1: which is what you would think, like you know, people
- 1:55:52Speaker 1: who well it's the offensive line and they're opening the holes.
- 1:55:54Speaker 1: But I mean, I thought Foreman looked a lot better
- 1:55:57Speaker 1: last week than he did. And I don't know if
- 1:55:59Speaker 1: this is making news, but Juan says that speaking of
- 1:56:02Speaker 1: Derrick Henry, according to Schefter, he has been activated off
- 1:56:06Speaker 1: I r oh, Deuce is getting excited. I will say this,
- 1:56:11Speaker 1: I will think differently of Tennessee. If he's able to
- 1:56:14Speaker 1: play this week, get him a little not that rust off. Yeah,
- 1:56:17Speaker 1: get that rust. But if you're gonna tell me that
- 1:56:19Speaker 1: the first time he's gonna go on the field is
- 1:56:20Speaker 1: the division round, I don't think that you're gonna mean,
- 1:56:23Speaker 1: but this is really having the potential to come because
- 1:56:25Speaker 1: this is a guy you could go out run for
- 1:56:26Speaker 1: two hundred years old. But yeah, but I just thought
- 1:56:28Speaker 1: also too, Paul, you're like going into it. What if
- 1:56:30Speaker 1: you know, if Foreman's running pretty well and you just say,
- 1:56:32Speaker 1: let's just wait till we're on the red zone. Go ahead, Derek,
- 1:56:34Speaker 1: you know, like save him and you know, use him
- 1:56:35Speaker 1: in spots, and don't they all right? Twenty five thirty
- 1:56:37Speaker 1: carries here you go. You know, maybe you use them
- 1:56:39Speaker 1: more in spots, maybe you Well, that's the way I
- 1:56:41Speaker 1: do it. Anyway, I would continue with Foreman and just
- 1:56:44Speaker 1: bring him in and spots and get working working work
- 1:56:47Speaker 1: him in. Yeah, yeah, and that might work great if
- 1:56:50Speaker 1: like you work him in like uh you know, Division
- 1:56:52Speaker 1: round and then AFC Championships and then all the two
- 1:56:55Speaker 1: weeks through like every week getting better. We got a
- 1:57:01Speaker 1: couple more minutes. They were talking about Coach of the
- 1:57:03Speaker 1: Year and somebody said, vybel, I think it was Paul's guy,
- 1:57:08Speaker 1: but better. Yeah, and you know, I've said, but then
- 1:57:12Speaker 1: I'm thinking, yeah, why not? I mean, by far and
- 1:57:16Speaker 1: away the best care He had a lot of adversity,
- 1:57:18Speaker 1: and yet his record and his team is still vying
- 1:57:22Speaker 1: for lost his best player. Yeah, good season hung on.
- 1:57:27Speaker 1: So eighty eight players. I lost track ninety two players
- 1:57:32Speaker 1: something like that, the NFL record for the most players
- 1:57:34Speaker 1: used the season. So yeah, I have no problem if
- 1:57:37Speaker 1: he wins. Yeah, I love him. I love him. He
- 1:57:41Speaker 1: does he's not, he's not lying. He'd be my pick too.
- 1:57:46Speaker 1: What after BB I would love to have ye here. Yeah,
- 1:57:51Speaker 1: build that kind of football tough. I mean, I think
- 1:57:53Speaker 1: he's having it's great right now. We just gotta figure
- 1:57:55Speaker 1: how to get him fired. Trade for him. Did you
- 1:58:00Speaker 1: guys get the screeners for the Brady thing? Yes? Did
- 1:58:02Speaker 1: you get episode seven? I don't. I don't think I did.
- 1:58:06Speaker 1: I think I got eight. I got eight and I
- 1:58:09Speaker 1: just got nine, but I never got seven. They didn't
- 1:58:11Speaker 1: give you sixteen. Check your spam the Falcons. I heard
- 1:58:16Speaker 1: somebody saying, the only reason I'm watching that is to
- 1:58:18Speaker 1: see what Brady thought about the Malcolm Mitchell. I'm Malcolm Brown,
- 1:58:22Speaker 1: Malcolm Malcolm Butler had a lot of Malcolm's on this team,
- 1:58:25Speaker 1: like like Brady's gonna reveal, like you know, the secret
- 1:58:29Speaker 1: reason why I would watch if he did. Yeah, but
- 1:58:31Speaker 1: he's not. I think they're getting worse by the way,
- 1:58:34Speaker 1: Oh yeah, really, yeah, I think he's being more disingenuous
- 1:58:37Speaker 1: as they go along. That's that's what I've heard in
- 1:58:39Speaker 1: this last one with the seventeen team and some of
- 1:58:42Speaker 1: that stuff, and Gronk talking about being happy he was
- 1:58:44Speaker 1: suspended and not having a play. I mean, I think
- 1:58:46Speaker 1: you're getting a little bit of a glimpse of Well,
- 1:58:47Speaker 1: I don't mind that, but I don't think Brady's telling
- 1:58:50Speaker 1: you what he really feels, like Gronk did. I'll get
- 1:58:52Speaker 1: Gronk credit. I'm like, even if it's something and you
- 1:58:54Speaker 1: don't want to hear, at least he's telling you his feelings.
- 1:58:57Speaker 1: Like I think Brady is going along with you know,
- 1:59:00Speaker 1: people telling them to you know, a lot of false
- 1:59:03Speaker 1: narratives around our team, Like please, right, I know, if
- 1:59:07Speaker 1: you wanted to get you your opinion out there, I
- 1:59:09Speaker 1: really think you had the opportunity to do that, yeah,
- 1:59:12Speaker 1: when you were here. Yeah, or you can make a
- 1:59:14Speaker 1: ten part documentary seriously, right, and suddenly you're not you know,
- 1:59:18Speaker 1: I don't feel like I'm playing to society. All right.
