- 0:18Speaker 1: Welcome to episode 32 of In Moderation, where we bridge the gap between balance and eating whatever the heck and bob you want.
- 0:29Speaker 1: I like it.
- 0:31Speaker 1: Yeah, it's better than what we have.
- 0:32Speaker 3: We don't even have a slogan we were just hoping you'd come up with something for us that's really it.
- 0:38Speaker 1: There we go, we're solving it.
- 0:40Speaker 2: And today we got Liam and Rob as guests on Alex's podcast, on our own podcast, yeah.
- 0:46Speaker 1: Today we break down Rob's wonderful outline that he built on his wall.
- 0:52Speaker 3: He's like don't put that on the podcast.
- 0:53Speaker 1: No he said it.
- 0:54Speaker 1: So I told him, I literally asked him.
- 0:57Speaker 1: I was like, is that a mustache?
- 0:59Speaker 1: And he was like no, it's a bow and arrow, but now he can't unsee it.
- 1:04Speaker 2: It does look like a handlebar mustache.
- 1:06Speaker 2: That'd be sick.
- 1:06Speaker 1: Thank you, right there you go.
- 1:09Speaker 1: You're welcome.
- 1:10Speaker 1: Just open your eyes to everything.
- 1:12Speaker 3: No one's ever going to unsee that now I'm going to have to redo my entire wall.
- 1:16Speaker 1: Why do you need to redo it?
- 1:17Speaker 1: A handlebar mustache fits Well bits.
- 1:30Speaker 1: Well, now maybe I'll just leave the handlebar mustache and turn it into it like a beard underneath it.
- 1:33Speaker 2: Now, there you go, see you on the wall, there we go.
- 1:34Speaker 2: But now you gotta make the mustache, you gotta go for it.
- 1:36Speaker 2: So today we got alex on the podcast.
- 1:36Speaker 2: Alex, how, how you, how, how, how you doing I'm doing great.
- 1:40Speaker 1: I have plenty of energy, I I had a great week, so you've got enough energy to take over the podcast for us.
- 1:47Speaker 3: We're just.
- 1:48Speaker 1: I know you both come on and I was like I got you guys both at like the highlight of your lives right now.
- 1:54Speaker 2: I'm always doing great.
- 1:55Speaker 2: There's never a time I'm not doing great, except for what I'm not so, alex, what do people know you for, like what's your deal, what's going on with you?
- 2:04Speaker 1: People tend to know me for making ridiculous content that's educational but then also entertaining to watch.
- 2:11Speaker 3: And high energy.
- 2:16Speaker 1: I'm very much known for having a lot of energy and being very positive.
- 2:25Speaker 2: And I'm also known for telling people who make other people feel bad to fuck off, so it's pretty much I know a little bit about that that's my favorite genre.
- 2:30Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't like bullies that's that's what I'm known for, but I attack with logic but you do.
- 2:37Speaker 2: Do you do like equal parts, like fitness and like nutrition?
- 2:40Speaker 2: Is it mostly fitness or do you do like nutrition?
- 2:43Speaker 1: um, I'd say I honestly do mostly like body con, like I'd say confidence, like mindset would actually be the most of it.
- 2:52Speaker 1: And then it would be like health and fitness, like I do a lot of.
- 2:55Speaker 1: I share all my workouts and my stories and stuff.
- 2:57Speaker 1: So I'm like prove that I, I fitness, but you prove that you're fitness I'm like I actually work out guys, but then, other than that, I tell people to be proud of their body and take care of it and do good things.
- 3:11Speaker 1: So it's equal parts fitness, nutrition and mindset.
- 3:17Speaker 3: Well, speaking of mindset, just after I actually booked you for the podcast, I had a bunch of requests for people that wanted us to talk about expectations.
- 3:31Speaker 1: Oh, I love expectations.
- 3:33Speaker 2: That's a good one, because I don't think we really talked about that too much.
- 3:38Speaker 3: Yeah and yeah, a lot of people are worried about having the wrong expectations, both going into exercise, but then there's also people who have the wrong expectations regarding things like I know you deal with PCOS and they think just because they have PCOS, they can't possibly lose weight, you know.
- 4:01Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I think that when it comes to expectation setting, I think a lot of people either hold themselves to like a really high standard and they think that they need to do all the things, or they hold themselves to the expectation of somebody else, so they see what someone else is doing and they think that they should be doing those things to then be successful.
- 4:23Speaker 1: It's actually.
- 4:23Speaker 1: I feel like this is maybe a good example too, of someone actually literally my question box today said what do you do when you don't go to the gym and you hate yourself for it after?
- 4:33Speaker 1: And I was like that's actually a podcast.
- 4:37Speaker 1: Yes, but I was like that's actually a lot more in depth than you probably realized.
- 4:43Speaker 1: There's a lot to unpack there.
- 4:44Speaker 1: Because are you not going to the gym?
- 4:46Speaker 1: Because you actually couldn't, you didn't have the time, you didn't have the availability to do it, whether it's finances or whatever it might be.
- 4:54Speaker 1: Or did you not go to the gym because of an excuse you were too tired, and tired can be a number of things.
- 4:59Speaker 1: That is a valid excuse.
- 5:00Speaker 1: Or it was like I just didn't feel like going today, so I don't know why you didn't go.
- 5:08Speaker 1: First of all, so you need to figure that out.
- 5:09Speaker 1: But second, regardless of whether it's like an actual valid reason or it's something that you kind of need to work through for yourself, why do you hate yourself?
- 5:16Speaker 1: If you didn't have the time, the finances, whatever it might be, that's not a valid reason to hate you.
- 5:20Speaker 1: But then also, if it was the fact that you just didn't go because you just didn't feel like it, why are you hating yourself for that?
- 5:27Speaker 1: That's not productive.
- 5:28Speaker 1: So instead ask yourself why didn't you go?
- 5:31Speaker 1: If you say you want to go, okay, call yourself out on it, like let's like set aside some time.
- 5:35Speaker 1: But I think that People often expect greatness from mediocre input.
- 5:48Speaker 1: I say that with love, but like seriously because people are like oh, I expect that I should be losing weight, but I'm not showing up consistently or doing the things that I need to.
- 5:57Speaker 1: Or people are like I expect to look like this person who's been on their journey for 10 years and I just got started.
- 6:06Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 6:07Speaker 2: I think that a lot of that comes down to just the expectations you place in the first spot, because that's what I see from a lot of people is just having these high expectations.
- 6:15Speaker 2: I think a lot of that definitely comes from, I don't know, let's say, the Beachbody ads, like somebody lost like 40 pounds of fat and gained 80 pounds of muscle in like a few weeks or some like insane shit.
- 6:26Speaker 2: So you just kind of expect that.
- 6:28Speaker 2: So like, yeah, maybe there's definitely a problem with consistency and people just you know, maybe aren't putting as much work as they need to.
- 6:35Speaker 2: But also, if you have these crazy high expectations, you're never going to reach it, no matter how much work you put into it never going to reach it, no matter how much work you put into it.
- 6:45Speaker 1: Yeah, and so I guess our I think it's up to kind of people like us to put good expectations out there for people like helping them kind of, because it's the thing if we're not working one-on-one with you, we can't tell you what to expect from whatever it is that you're doing.
- 6:56Speaker 1: We can try our best to guide you, but, like, ask yourself, if you want to lose weight or you want to change your body or you want to build muscle or whatever it is, you probably have to do certain things.
- 7:08Speaker 1: Maybe you have to move a little bit more on a day-to-day basis.
- 7:11Speaker 1: Maybe you have to try and eat a little bit more protein.
- 7:13Speaker 1: Maybe you do have to be really consistent with the gym.
- 7:15Speaker 1: If you want to do a powerlifting meet or you want to run a marathon, whatever it is that you want to achieve is going to require different habits on a day-to-day basis.
- 7:26Speaker 1: So we need to figure out what it is that you actually want to do and then we figure out what are the expectations to set for yourself and we ask ourselves what's actually reasonable and realistic for you.
- 7:39Speaker 3: Yeah, one thing we can definitely do in terms of general advice is.
- 7:45Speaker 1: I was like I'm so sorry, it's not general.
- 7:49Speaker 3: But in general advice we can tell you that losing 30 pounds in 30 days is not realistic.
- 7:55Speaker 2: Yeah, you can lose a lot of water real quick, but yeah, as far as fat loss.
- 8:00Speaker 2: And that's where another issue kind of comes into place and it tough, like where do you?
- 8:03Speaker 2: Yeah, like a lot of people, like I have no idea kind of where to start, like what's, um, you know what I can do, and in that case, keep you know, I don't.
- 8:12Speaker 2: I don't have a problem with a low bar.
- 8:14Speaker 2: I don't have a problem with the low expectations.
- 8:16Speaker 2: I'm gonna be honest.
- 8:17Speaker 2: I mean, that's how I got my wife is low expectations.
- 8:21Speaker 2: You have to set them as low as possible and then you can supersede that very easily.
- 8:27Speaker 3: You just killed Alex.
- 8:28Speaker 3: You just killed Alex.
- 8:31Speaker 2: Listen, don't knock it until you try it.
- 8:33Speaker 2: It works.
- 8:34Speaker 2: So you know.
- 8:38Speaker 1: basically, my point is For all the women out there who are like the bars on the floor.
- 8:41Speaker 1: Liam has said that I can step over, that.
- 8:43Speaker 2: I can easily just walk right over it with minimal, no effort, basically no effort, the smallest amount of effort, and maybe you can kind of do that with your nutrition, whereas instead of, like I'm going to lose a pound of fat a day, I'm going to my expectation is to eat more protein, is is to get more fiber into my diet, is to add these things that I know are beneficial for me, is to go from.
- 9:07Speaker 2: I mean, I have what 4000 steps a day.
- 9:10Speaker 2: I'm doing that on average.
- 9:11Speaker 2: Maybe I can go to six.
- 9:17Speaker 2: You know, it's like that's not a huge jump, something like that.
- 9:19Speaker 2: Instead of having this, I'm going to lose this much weight.
- 9:21Speaker 2: And you know what?
- 9:21Speaker 2: I don't know if I'm kind of like jumping into shit, but it's just kind of making me think about it.
- 9:25Speaker 2: How, like we have these, like you just said.
- 9:27Speaker 2: The person who asked you, like I feel shitty about not going to the gym or I feel shitty about not doing this, and I think a lot of that comes from like what we see out just in our day to day life.
- 9:36Speaker 2: If you lose like weight quickly, right, you're going to get comments about that, right.
- 9:39Speaker 2: If you do something quickly, you're gonna wow, you look amazing.
- 9:48Speaker 2: So then you're like, oh, I gotta keep this up then.
- 9:49Speaker 2: So then you really have to kind of push the pedal to the metal and whenever you make one small misstep or one, you know you step backwards in some small way.
- 9:52Speaker 2: You're gonna get mad at yourself.
- 9:53Speaker 2: So it's kind of just this self-feeding cycle.
- 9:58Speaker 2: I don't know, I'm just kind of thinking about it yeah it's.
- 10:01Speaker 1: It's a hard thing to give a very precise answer to when the reality is.
- 10:07Speaker 1: It really just does depend.
- 10:08Speaker 1: Because the expectation that like I have for myself is I get 10 to 12,000 steps a day.
- 10:15Speaker 1: I go to the gym four to five times a week.
- 10:17Speaker 1: I eat at least 100 grams of protein every single day.
- 10:20Speaker 1: Like I have those expectations of my health and fitness but also I've been doing this for almost 10 years Like it's really easy.
- 10:28Speaker 1: I still have to put thought into it.
- 10:30Speaker 1: Like I have to think about making sure I have a protein source or like getting up and going for a walk, but it's really easy for me to do that, Whereas somebody who's just starting that's not a realistic expectation.
- 10:42Speaker 1: If they only get like my dad, he works from home, he has a dog, but he throws the ball for my dog all the time and I was like hey dad how like much do you actually walks in a day?
- 10:53Speaker 1: And he was like, well, I walk Carson every single day.
- 10:55Speaker 1: And I'm like, yeah, but you throw the ball the whole time you're out there.
- 10:59Speaker 1: So I got him a step tracker.
- 11:00Speaker 1: Little did he realize he was walking 3 000 steps a day.
- 11:04Speaker 1: And so to be like, hey dad, let's get 10 to 12 000 steps would be super unrealistic.
- 11:10Speaker 1: And I'm like, how about, instead of throwing the ball morning and night, you throw the ball in the morning and then you walk in the evening?
- 11:17Speaker 1: And that already doubled his steps.
- 11:19Speaker 1: And so it's like the expectation is very different for him than it is for me.
- 11:24Speaker 1: There's a lot of talk about.
- 11:27Speaker 2: I was just going to say, like you know, when you want to talk about like achieving a physique is difficult but maintaining it is a lot easier.
- 12:03Speaker 2: It's similar just with your routine, with everything.
- 12:06Speaker 2: It's like, once you kind of have things in place, like you already have, you're like, oh, this is pretty easy, but jumping to that immediately.
- 12:12Speaker 2: So yeah, like you already have, you're like, oh, this is pretty easy, but jumping to that immediately.
- 12:15Speaker 2: So yeah, I like that One.
- 12:16Speaker 3: Yeah, one thing at a time, I like that One thing I will say your expectations are way more impressive than mine.
- 12:22Speaker 3: My expectation is that I'm going to wake up at some point every day, not necessarily in the morning, just some point.
- 12:29Speaker 1: The bar's on the floor and we love it.
- 12:30Speaker 1: Listen, I wake up at 4 pm.
- 12:33Speaker 2: I wake up and the day is basically over.
- 12:37Speaker 3: And I still manage to do things guys.
- 12:41Speaker 2: So you know like hey, look at me, I can do things.
- 12:44Speaker 2: We can all do things, if we put our mind to it.
- 12:47Speaker 1: Well, and the nice thing is, we all have different expectations for ourselves, but we all fitness, yeah, for ourselves, but we all fitness, yeah, no, we all fit, we all fit you.
- 12:58Speaker 2: Fitness, I fitness.
- 12:59Speaker 3: Everyone screams for fitness well, there's our next shirt yeah, uh.
- 13:08Speaker 2: So yeah, I mean, I really think like just and honestly, just writing it down at the beginning can just be helpful.
- 13:13Speaker 2: I think it's.
- 13:14Speaker 2: I think it's a great idea just to have like a small little list of, like you know, just little goals, little expectations you have.
- 13:20Speaker 3: Start off.
- 13:20Speaker 3: Emphasis on the little.
- 13:22Speaker 2: Yeah, right, like you know, find, find a wife that went through that you did through through tricking her and stuff, and that's what you know.
- 13:30Speaker 2: And then you work down from there and you know, just put that up on your fridge or something you know.
- 13:39Speaker 2: So you can see it Small goals, people, small goals.
- 13:42Speaker 1: She's going to like listen back to this and be like that's what he did.
- 13:45Speaker 2: She doesn't listen or watch to anything I do, it's totally fine.
- 13:48Speaker 3: She never says anything.
- 13:49Speaker 2: I say it's totally free and no problems.
- 13:52Speaker 3: she never said anything.
- 13:57Speaker 1: I say it's totally free and no problems.
- 13:59Speaker 1: I don't.
- 14:00Speaker 1: I'm gonna be honest, I don't remember where we started with anything welcome to in liam's dating life I achieved, I checked that I was like it's already done I'm over and now I let my body go to shit.
- 14:21Speaker 2: Um no but like seriously just once you get like a little routine going, it's really not that bad.
- 14:27Speaker 2: so, yeah, just, uh, you know, start off with so.
- 14:29Speaker 2: And I like the step thing.
- 14:31Speaker 2: Like that's such a like the step thing is such like an easy thing, right.
- 14:34Speaker 2: Like you can just be like, okay, let me just try and get a few more steps during the day I can people can usually find some way to get that in.
- 14:41Speaker 2: But also like when it comes to your diet, I like one meal, like, okay, let's just do one meal.
- 14:45Speaker 2: I mean, I don't care, you can start small One meal one day of the week, even, like just just something.
- 14:51Speaker 2: Maybe you do like one meal prep or something like that, where you get a few meals, just start somewhere and you can always just build up from there.
- 14:59Speaker 1: Yeah, usually we'll have people start with like the three M's of like mind, mouth and movement, and if you're like, if you can do one thing in each of those and again obviously we figure out what it makes sense for that person where they're at but, like, the most basic of basic is hey, can you do a 10 minute walk today, can you do like 30 grams of protein first thing in the morning, and like we'll figure it out how you can do that, or at least have a protein source in the morning for breakfast.
- 15:27Speaker 1: And then for your mind it's like, can you just say something nice to yourself, Like please.
- 15:32Speaker 1: And so it's like, can you just say something nice to yourself, like please.
- 15:35Speaker 1: And so it's like it could be that basic and that's like that if you can do those three things in the morning, you're already winning the day.
- 15:39Speaker 3: I really think I want to recall dieting mindful mouth movements now I'm just giving you guys a ton of I.
- 15:47Speaker 2: I request, like a little kickback from any of the merch that you guys make from any of this listen once, once we start grifting because, trust me, we've talked a lot on this podcast about how we're going to do that.
- 15:57Speaker 2: We've got many plans, we've got that stuff.
- 15:59Speaker 2: That's where the money's going to come from, don't worry.
- 16:02Speaker 2: But I like the idea of starting in the morning, because it's always to get the ball rolling right.
- 16:08Speaker 2: Once you really get started with that, you get a little bit more confidence, you feel a little bit more confidence, you feel a little bit better.
- 16:16Speaker 2: So if you can start off with something in the morning, like if you are going to start with one meal okay, 30 grams of protein at breakfast love that.
- 16:19Speaker 2: Like, how can we do that?
- 16:19Speaker 2: Oh, I like yogurt, I like eggs, I like whatever you know, just just something beans and toast, what's that?
- 16:26Speaker 3: it's a beans and toast oh man, she said the magic word beans.
- 16:31Speaker 1: I sent him a video and then I saw that he'd already liked it, so I unsent it because I was like I don't want to.
- 16:36Speaker 1: I was literally like, oh, he's already liked it.
- 16:38Speaker 1: I don't want to like fill his DMs and stuff.
- 16:40Speaker 1: But it was this guy singing like a bean song and I was like, and then I would check to the comments and I was like, oh, he has like a million tags in this.
- 16:52Speaker 2: Ohtone, I'm not joking.
- 16:56Speaker 3: I'm calling you.
- 16:57Speaker 3: I've got my volume.
- 16:59Speaker 2: I think I got my volume up.
- 17:01Speaker 1: Why was your volume already still up?
- 17:04Speaker 2: What I think I got it not on silence is what I was trying to say.
- 17:08Speaker 2: Words are tough.
- 17:08Speaker 2: Nine.
- 17:11Speaker 3: It's giving me the.
- 17:13Speaker 2: You're calling a US number.
- 17:16Speaker 3: There it goes.
- 17:17Speaker 2: Oh, I hit the plus to turn it up.
- 17:20Speaker 2: Do it again.
- 17:21Speaker 2: Do it again, run it back.
- 17:23Speaker 3: God damn it.
- 17:25Speaker 2: Making me look stupid.
- 17:26Speaker 2: I was trying to turn the volume up, but it doesn't work.
- 17:29Speaker 2: Okay, you're calling from Canada.
- 17:31Speaker 2: Okay, it takes like 10 minutes to actually reach me yeah, yeah, the connection has to, you know, go over there no way you actually made that ringtone ancient legumes look at that you know how fucking long that took, holy shit, like I had to go into YouTube, download it through this third party, like clip it out and then add it somewhere else and extract that.
- 17:59Speaker 2: I spent like 10 minutes on YouTube just like trying to figure this shit out.
- 18:03Speaker 2: Anyway, totally worth it.
- 18:06Speaker 3: I was going to say I would have done it in like one minute.
- 18:08Speaker 2: I don't know how to fucking technology, Okay, listen, I barely know how to woman.
- 18:11Speaker 2: Now the beans.
- 18:13Speaker 2: Beans are great.
- 18:15Speaker 3: wait you barely know how to date women, or you barely know how to be a woman.
- 18:20Speaker 1: He's like I'm lucky I got here having a child, luck.
- 18:25Speaker 2: Actually it's not a whole lot of listen getting a woman being a woman, it's all sound, it's, I don't know.
- 18:32Speaker 2: Listen, I am a tall white man, my life is easy.
- 18:37Speaker 3: Who's on board for the Liam drag show?
- 18:42Speaker 2: I'm charging at least something for that.
- 18:44Speaker 2: Now, yeah, like, whatever you can do to get protein at breakfast to back to what normal people talk about is great.
- 18:51Speaker 2: Like, as you know, can uh, like you know, like I love oats in like just like some protein powder.
- 18:56Speaker 2: Protein powder makes it easy.
- 18:57Speaker 2: You don't need it, but like you just throw that in the morning overnight oats.
- 19:00Speaker 2: I recently did a thing where it's like you put fruit in a cup and then you add like kind of an overnight oat situation, so you blend up oats and like almond milk and yogurt and then you top that with like uh, chocolate you're going to like melt chocolate with like coconut oil and then it like gets the little shell and that's like actually super nice.
- 19:17Speaker 2: And then you can prep that for like three days and you just got that for like you just take it out of the fridge and you can heat it if you want or whatever.
- 19:22Speaker 2: Just usually just eat it like that and you know, just setting yourself up for some type of protein, some type of fiber at breakfast.
- 19:29Speaker 2: Let me tell you something holy shit, I eat like oats and like chia seeds in the morning.
- 19:35Speaker 2: I'm full for like hours like I'm telling you.
- 19:36Speaker 3: It's just like the fiber and the protein and whatever.
- 19:39Speaker 2: Like I'm like I'm not hungry until four or five hours later yeah, I.
- 19:43Speaker 3: I prefer to cook my peasant oats with uh egg whites.
- 19:47Speaker 3: I replace the water with egg whites yeah, that's a good cheat code.
- 19:50Speaker 3: That's an easy, same thing.
- 19:52Speaker 3: You throw some extra chia seeds in there.
- 19:54Speaker 3: If you want extra fiber and stuff, chia seeds, throw chia seeds and fucking anything.
- 19:57Speaker 2: I'm telling you just makes you feel fuller, like it's fucking not throw it on your pizza anyway.
- 20:01Speaker 2: I uh the crunch crunch.
- 20:04Speaker 1: Don't do that I'm here to say don't do that all right, I'm also team any food as a breakfast food if you choose to eat it for breakfast.
- 20:14Speaker 2: I like that.
- 20:14Speaker 2: Because yeah like, whatever you like.
- 20:17Speaker 1: Yeah, people can overthink it and I'm like I have sandwiches for breakfast, sometimes Not with an egg on it.
- 20:22Speaker 1: I'm not turning it into a egg breakfast sandwich.
- 20:24Speaker 2: It's not fucking bougie here, holy shit, like a sunny side up.
- 20:39Speaker 1: Like you just eat a different protein with it.
- 20:40Speaker 2: You now have tacos for breakfast, but anyway, there you go that's my however, you can set your day up so like, just that's what I would start with.
- 20:53Speaker 2: Honestly, if you're like don't know where to start, I think just starting like with breakfast and somehow how to get protein and fiber into it.
- 20:59Speaker 2: Because a lot of people tell me like, oh, I don't have time for breakfast, I'm like, do you have time before then just to prep something like you know?
- 21:06Speaker 2: Oh, you know, it's another really good one.
- 21:07Speaker 2: You get the vanilla Greek yogurt, so they have like oikos, like triple zeros, or I usually just get a walmart brand because it's fucking cheaper and I'm cheap.
- 21:17Speaker 2: I asked my wife and so then I mix in um peanut butter powder, powdered peanut butter, and then two pbc yeah, pb2, pb, fit, whatever it is and then it's like sweet and super high in protein.
- 21:29Speaker 2: You even get a little bit of fiber from the peanut butter powder, and then I'll top again usually with like a chocolate shell on top, and then you throw that in the fridge like two, three days easily, and then you just have that for breakfast.
- 21:39Speaker 2: It's like super easy, just like you know, set yourself up some way.
- 21:43Speaker 1: There you go.
- 21:44Speaker 3: That's all it takes so let's dive for a second into the uh to switch topics on liam, because liam could probably go on for hours.
- 21:54Speaker 3: He's like I'm gonna give you pretty much any topic, give me anything, I'll just fucking rant.
- 21:58Speaker 1: I don't know shit about it go ahead, he's like I don't know for a second you want to talk about blockbuster.
- 22:06Speaker 2: What was it okay, so block the first Blockbuster I ever remember going in.
- 22:09Speaker 2: Go ahead.
- 22:16Speaker 3: Into the mind blank now because of Liam.
- 22:19Speaker 3: We want to talk about Blockbuster.
- 22:20Speaker 3: I know Did you know?
- 22:22Speaker 3: Blockbuster had the opportunity to buy Netflix twice.
- 22:25Speaker 2: They had the opportunity to buy Netflix twice and they turned them down.
- 22:28Speaker 2: If you ever feel shitty about yourself, think about that and then plan your breakfast.
- 22:32Speaker 2: Go ahead, Rob.
- 22:32Speaker 2: What were you saying?
- 22:34Speaker 3: The unrealistic expectations set by social media.
- 22:38Speaker 3: Like you can lose this much fat in this much time, you can put on this much muscle in this much time, because we get bombarded by that.
- 22:47Speaker 1: Oh, that's not surprising.
- 22:48Speaker 1: It's because everyone tells you that, well, there's also the whole people editing their videos and photos and things too, so you don't even know what people actually look like.
- 22:58Speaker 1: So you're comparing yourself to someone that doesn't even actually exist.
- 22:59Speaker 3: But I think that when it comes to expectation setting, when it like in that sense, or like are you saying the expectations or comparisons now to online well, well, the expectation that when you see somebody who had a before and after photo and they're like, oh, this person lost 40 pounds in two weeks, I feel like I should be able to do that Now.
- 23:23Speaker 3: I have an unrealistic expectation.
- 23:25Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean that's hard to necessarily say how to, because some people will post just a normal before and after, because obviously you gave a very drastic weight loss If it sounds too good to be true.
- 23:41Speaker 1: As much as I'm an optimist and I believe in being excited about things, it might be too good to be true, and so I think that kind of setting yourself up for, like, what could I actually sustain?
- 23:53Speaker 1: Like I always tell people, like if you can't do it for more than 10 weeks, you probably shouldn't do it for more than 10 days Because it's like you're probably not going to be able to keep doing that, whatever it was.
- 24:03Speaker 1: To lose 40 pounds in two weeks Holy I get that so much.
- 24:08Speaker 2: When people say keto like, but keto works for me Like, are you going to do it for the rest of your life?
- 24:12Speaker 2: Yeah, like.
- 24:13Speaker 2: They look at me like well, no, and I'm like what?
- 24:15Speaker 2: Well then, what's the plan?
- 24:20Speaker 2: What's the long-term plan here?
- 24:21Speaker 2: Just up and down constantly?
- 24:23Speaker 2: Isn't it worse to just gain 40 pounds and lose 40 pounds over and over again?
- 24:26Speaker 3: I feel like that's just worse and subject yourself to torture for half the time as you eat keto.
- 24:29Speaker 3: What's interesting?
- 24:30Speaker 3: Again, I feel like that's just worse and subject yourself to torture for half the time as you eat keto.
- 24:32Speaker 3: What's?
- 24:33Speaker 1: interesting is I feel like a lot of people don't mind the rigidity in the moment.
- 24:37Speaker 1: Obviously they get to like a breaking point where they're like I hate this, I don't want to do this ever again, but during it they're like I'm fine with some like short-term suffering because I'm getting some quick results and some dopamine hits from seeing the scale go down.
- 24:50Speaker 1: Right, exactly, yeah, so it's like, and for some, not to that extreme, but for some people, seeing more expedited weight loss can be helpful to be more motivated on your journey, and so maybe doing something that is a little bit more not that rigid or strict by any means, but doing something to kind of expedite seeing results can actually help people be like okay, you're right.
- 25:12Speaker 1: Like I am seeing things like change, things change, all right, cool.
- 25:15Speaker 1: So now we need to work on actually building those sustainable habits into this.
- 25:18Speaker 1: But then also you have to have somebody, or at least have an idea before you go into it, that, like I know what I'm doing right now is not what I'm going to do for the rest of my life.
- 25:28Speaker 1: So I need to figure out how I can actually maintain it.
- 25:33Speaker 1: Because I mean, as you guys know, we don't have a weight loss problem in America anyways.
- 25:37Speaker 1: Like people lose weight all the time.
- 25:38Speaker 1: That's not the issue.
- 25:40Speaker 1: People don't know how to keep it off.
- 25:42Speaker 1: And then again they have unrealistic expectations about what happens after the diet because they think that they can just go back to doing whatever they did before.
- 25:49Speaker 1: So they're equating their maintenance with oh yeah, like my maintenance means I gain weight and it's like, well, no, you actually aren't at maintenance.
- 25:59Speaker 1: Those are the habits that got you to wherever you didn't want to be anyways.
- 26:02Speaker 1: So we actually have to change whatever your lifestyle was to kind of fit whatever you say, you want to look or feel like lifestyle was to kind of fit.
- 26:11Speaker 3: Whatever you say, you want to look or feel like kind of random, and if you ask me in terms of, um, yep, he's, that's his pondering face, he's, there's a rant coming.
- 26:17Speaker 2: It's brilliant I was like, oh gosh, what did I say?
- 26:19Speaker 2: Constant state.
- 26:20Speaker 2: You're talking about maintenance.
- 26:23Speaker 3: That's my maintenance if you ask me in regards to realistic expectations and goals, realistically, you can lose a pound of fat a week.
- 26:36Speaker 3: Can you do more than that?
- 26:38Speaker 3: Of course, and there's different expectations there, but the further you drift away from that, the more unrealistic it's going to be, the harder it's going to be to sustain.
- 26:50Speaker 1: I think what is hard so this is what sucks, I think, about bringing me on a podcast is because I am always the it depends person, because I'm going to say, like cause you just said like you could lose and I'm not saying you're wrong by any means, but like you said, you can lose a pound per week but that really heavily depends on the person.
- 27:07Speaker 1: Some people have a very skewed perception.
- 27:10Speaker 1: Like I've worked with someone who she was like five, four, she's 125 pounds and she wants to lose weight and I'm like you don't really have weight to lose, that's what I see looking at her.
- 27:20Speaker 1: But she believes she truly does, because she has a skewed perception of her body and relationship with food and relationship with herself.
- 27:29Speaker 1: And so like that's where it's really important to remind people to like just because you want to lose weight or you think you want to lose weight doesn't also necessarily mean that like you should.
- 27:39Speaker 1: And also just because you can lose like anywhere from like 0.5 to two pounds of body fat per week and that's okay, it's a general concept for like, depending Cause.
- 27:55Speaker 1: Like if somebody is 300 plus pounds, yeah, you can lose more weight more quickly because you have more weight to lose, but if you're leaner, it's going to be slower.
- 28:05Speaker 1: And also, if you are resistance training, at the same time feeling yourself well, you may find that you're not losing weight as consistently, but you are still losing fat and building muscle and also you might just be feeling better on a day-to-day basis, which could also be a win which, like people don't like to like accept.
- 28:24Speaker 1: I did a video where I was literally like this is the worst client transformation story ever, because and then I go down the fact that she's now the same exact weight as when she started, but she started out training seven days a week.
- 28:38Speaker 1: This is what she came to me with Seven days a week, eating 1,200 calories a day.
- 28:41Speaker 1: She never went out with her family.
- 28:43Speaker 1: She was terrified of going out to eat meals.
- 28:45Speaker 1: Now she's training five days a week.
- 28:48Speaker 1: She's not doing any cardio.
- 28:49Speaker 1: She's eating 1,800 to 2,000 calories a day.
- 28:52Speaker 1: She's going out with her family and actually enjoying herself and she's actually spending more time out of the gym and spending time with her family and her husband.
- 29:02Speaker 1: It's a shitty transformation story because she kind of like looks a little bit different, but she doesn't have this crazy weight loss transformation that's super sexy to the eyes of social media, but she's happier.
- 29:16Speaker 2: Yeah, we talked a lot when he came on this podcast about, like, just having goals that aren't weight loss.
- 29:21Speaker 2: Yeah, it's just a great thing to have other goals, just like you said feeling better, I don't know sleeping better, having better connections with family, whatever.
- 29:29Speaker 3: And it's definitely important to stress that everything's individualized.
- 29:35Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 29:37Speaker 3: And that some people the goal shouldn't be to lose weight.
- 29:44Speaker 2: Let me ask you, Alex, like what's your kind of take on set point theory?
- 29:48Speaker 2: Have you heard?
- 29:48Speaker 2: I'm sure you've heard.
- 29:50Speaker 1: I have heard of set point theory.
- 29:51Speaker 1: Have you heard you?
- 29:51Speaker 1: I'm sure I have heard of set point theory.
- 29:52Speaker 1: I haven't delved like crazy deep into it, to be fair, but I guess my just general opinion from it is the fact that, like, I know that if I walk less and eat more I'm going to gain weight, and I wouldn't say that that necessarily means that that's my set point.
- 30:13Speaker 1: I would say that it just means that I to be in a body that I feel good at, not just even like looks wise, but also just feel better in, like have more energy in and feel stronger in.
- 30:27Speaker 1: I do like to move more and I do like to eat this amount.
- 30:31Speaker 1: So I think part of it.
- 30:34Speaker 1: I think that actually weirdly enough, kind of goes into expectations because, like, if you say somebody has a set point, are you kind of in my head?
- 30:45Speaker 1: I'm like does this set point mean that this person can't change that by moving?
- 30:51Speaker 2: more.
- 30:51Speaker 2: By the way, the set point is you have like a.
- 30:53Speaker 1: I should probably tell people if you have a weight that your body wants to be at Like there's a specific.
- 30:59Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't really agree with that, just because, no, I mean, I think it's been mostly like disproven.
- 31:06Speaker 2: I'm just saying like I'm just kind of for me me.
- 31:08Speaker 2: I don't because anyone can like change your weight right, like you know, through doing but eating more, eating less, moving more, moving less whatever.
- 31:15Speaker 2: But like I do think there is truth in that kind of like everyone has, like what some people term like a settling point where there's just kind of a range where you kind of feel best, which, like for me, if I get below 180, I start to feel lethargic and just not so great.
- 31:31Speaker 2: And then if I get above, like two, if I get close to 200, over 200, and again I start to feel a little sluggish, then it's anywhere in that like kind of 20-ish pound range I feel pretty good.
- 31:43Speaker 3: So what you're saying is your set point is a healthy amount of body fat.
- 31:49Speaker 2: Yes, for me.
- 31:50Speaker 2: However, I do think there is truth in some people.
- 31:53Speaker 2: They just kind of have this, their body kind of wants them to be at like a different weight, because everybody, you know, of course, is different, and that's not saying they can't push themselves outside of that range, but it just becomes exponentially more difficult the more they push themselves outside of that range.
- 32:09Speaker 2: You know, some people have just a larger appetite, you know.
- 32:12Speaker 2: Whatever, you know lower metabolism.
- 32:14Speaker 2: Whatever you know, whatever the reasons are, but you also gave a great point.
- 32:18Speaker 1: There was like some people just have a larger appetite, so it's like technically they then like could just ignore whatever their hunger cues were and then try to just shift it that way.
- 32:29Speaker 1: So it's not necessarily like they.
- 32:31Speaker 1: I I think yes and no with set point theory only because I mean I, I I get what you're saying.
- 32:43Speaker 2: They have a range like I I get like I agree there's.
- 32:47Speaker 2: I don't believe people, just like I have a specific weight that they have to be, but like I do think, just like there is individuality.
- 32:52Speaker 2: Like you're saying, it depends All of that stuff.
- 32:56Speaker 3: Yeah, and I also.
- 32:57Speaker 3: To me with set point theory.
- 32:58Speaker 3: The main point is if I was, if you, let's say if you were rich, would you be more likely to move less and eat more compared to somebody who's poor, can't afford food?
- 33:14Speaker 1: so are you saying like, because, well, socioeconomic factors always play a role?
- 33:19Speaker 1: But technically I get what you're saying, though, because technically that I'm losing out theory and now puts it on okay, you are too.
- 33:27Speaker 2: I'll make sure you are as well oh, is everyone frozen?
- 33:30Speaker 1: am I frozen?
- 33:32Speaker 2: we're we're losing you we're getting pieces and it's starting and then it's stopping, like I don't know what's going on.
- 33:40Speaker 1: Yes, oh sorry I was just saying socioeconomic factors do play a role, but then technically doesn't that not necessarily mean that set point theory, that's just what is accessible to them?
- 33:53Speaker 2: but like take a look, if you look at someone like oprah, say, like she has all the money in the world, like literally all the money, and yet she still struggles with her weight, right?
- 34:01Speaker 2: So I feel like that goes to show you it's not always just like you know, in terms of money.
- 34:06Speaker 2: It can be just somebody's their body wants them to be, maybe on the heavier side, maybe on the lighter side.
- 34:12Speaker 2: You know, I, I don't know, I just I find the whole you know theory interesting, I guess you ended it.
- 34:21Speaker 2: You're like okay yeah, that's my, that's my thought it's.
- 34:26Speaker 2: It's interesting.
- 34:26Speaker 2: I don't know exactly how I feel.
- 34:28Speaker 1: Yeah I mean there's.
- 34:29Speaker 1: I just I don't know exactly how I feel.
- 34:30Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean there's also I don't like it because by all means set point theory means it should be set, there should be a set weight, but it's so variable, there's so many things that can vary where that set point is, and it moves all over the place.
- 34:46Speaker 3: In fact, some people who defend set point theory are like, well, yeah, it moves to this other set point.
- 34:51Speaker 3: Well then, it's not a set point if it moved.
- 34:53Speaker 1: Giving people validation for potential excuses, and that's not to say that like people don't try hard or that like we shouldn't modify things to everyone.
- 35:17Speaker 1: I always that's actually what I want to do, but I don't want to feed into.
- 35:22Speaker 1: I always tread really lightly on trying not to like.
- 35:25Speaker 3: That's an excellent freeze frame up right there.
- 35:27Speaker 1: I was like no, I froze.
- 35:28Speaker 1: My internet is always great.
- 35:32Speaker 3: I don't know what's happening I'm supposed to be the one living rural with crappy internet no, I'm in texas and I was looking at internet the other day.
- 35:40Speaker 1: I was like how do?
- 35:40Speaker 2: I get faster internet.
- 35:42Speaker 2: We're always just looking for.
- 35:43Speaker 2: You know we live in the 21st century.
- 35:44Speaker 2: I want instant gratification right now.
- 35:47Speaker 1: God damn it um xfinity sucks, but yeah, so like so loud on your body.
- 35:52Speaker 2: I totally agree sucks I totally agree with what you're saying, though is because I don't want people to think, because it goes back to what you said, like pcos, you know.
- 35:59Speaker 2: I don't want people to say, oh, I have this, uh, you know condition, or I have this set point, so there's no point, I'm not even gonna try yeah like I don't want.
- 36:07Speaker 2: I don't want that.
- 36:08Speaker 3: That's not great yeah, and that's the other end of the unrealistic expectations.
- 36:14Speaker 3: Right there is thinking that because you have some sort of condition or something and you see other people on social media complaining that they have it and they can't lose weight, thinking that you also can't lose weight, yeah, or do something else, you know, not necessarily lose weight yeah okay, listen, I think we've done enough positive shit.
- 36:33Speaker 2: Now we're like half an hour into the episode.
- 36:35Speaker 2: I've seen you do some Bobby videos and, holy shit, I've been getting asked by so many people to do like to talk about this shit.
- 36:42Speaker 2: I was at the thrift store like two days ago and someone walked by me and I saw him like give me a quick look and I was like, oh, he, he's probably gonna say something.
- 36:48Speaker 2: He's like hey, you're the guy that goes after Bobby.
- 36:49Speaker 2: I was like, yeah, I guess that is literally.
- 36:52Speaker 2: I was like, okay.
- 36:53Speaker 2: So he's like can I get a picture?
- 36:54Speaker 2: I'm gonna put this on Instagram and I'm like okay, apparently people really want to talk like me to talk about it and like I've just been doing less videos because it's just like, oh, this shit again going over it.
- 37:11Speaker 2: So I'm like making the whole video and editing.
- 37:13Speaker 2: It's just oh, I don't want to do it, but sitting here and just complaining sounds like fun.
- 37:16Speaker 2: So, like, what's your?
- 37:18Speaker 2: What's, alex, how you doing?
- 37:21Speaker 2: Uh, what's your like?
- 37:23Speaker 2: I saw you do the like.
- 37:25Speaker 2: I used your little video where you pretend to be on like a date with like him and like the dunkin donuts.
- 37:30Speaker 3: That shit was pretty funny, dunkin that shit was pretty funny.
- 37:33Speaker 2: So like yeah, what's?
- 37:34Speaker 2: Yeah, what's your take on old uh bobbykins, as I think?
- 37:40Speaker 1: he, I think my internet's going out.
- 37:43Speaker 1: No, I'm just kidding um, I think See you later Frozen.
- 37:49Speaker 1: No, so I don't like fear mongering and I don't like people who exploit people's insecurities or fears for financial gain.
- 38:01Speaker 3: And oh, her internet did actually go.
- 38:06Speaker 1: I'm going to give it a second.
- 38:09Speaker 3: Rats.
- 38:09Speaker 3: She jinxed herself on that one.
- 38:12Speaker 1: I literally was like oh, you guys actually did freeze.
- 38:14Speaker 1: Let me just hold on a second.
- 38:15Speaker 1: But I don't like fear mongering and I don't like when people exploit other people's insecurities for their own financial gain.
- 38:23Speaker 1: And it seems I don't know for sure, but it seems like that is something that he may do quite frequently, so I don't like it this is going to be a fun one to edit because, it's actually going to have what she's saying in her freeze oh okay, so we should just shut up like when she's, when she freezes.
- 38:46Speaker 2: We just shut up and we'll just wait a second, and then it'll be easier to edit.
- 38:49Speaker 2: So we're not constantly interrupting.
- 38:51Speaker 3: Well, I mean, we won't know what she says half the time.
- 38:55Speaker 2: No, but we'll just pretend like she didn't talk and we'll just start our own thing.
- 38:58Speaker 3: I'm very good at mansplaining.
- 39:00Speaker 3: I can just do that.
- 39:01Speaker 2: No problem.
- 39:05Speaker 1: I literally did a podcast earlier and had no problems.
- 39:08Speaker 1: Zero, so I oh, so it's us I think it's, I think you guys, I think it's your dual bad internet which is the problem.
- 39:21Speaker 2: So that's my thoughts on bobby.
- 39:22Speaker 1: Did you actually hear any of them?
- 39:24Speaker 2: oh we heard a lot of it.
- 39:25Speaker 2: Yeah, so I mean, it's just like I I think people enjoy just kind of like listening.
- 39:30Speaker 2: It's just because I think the thing is like we're all frustrated right With like the fear mongers and shit like that, like we all know like what the good shit is for us to do and you know, like it's just we're all upset and that's why I basically yell in a lot of my videos and on podcasts because it's just basically cathartic for people to be like yes, fucking, finally, I'm just tired of that.
- 39:52Speaker 2: So you know, I just like what are some highlights?
- 39:55Speaker 2: Hey guys, what's some of your favorites?
- 39:57Speaker 2: Let's all just fucking chat like what are some of your fun favorite highlights from your time?
- 40:02Speaker 2: Not even just Bobby, just like any like you know, like grifter history, what do you got like?
- 40:06Speaker 2: What's some of your favorite moments you look back on Like, oh, I remember that.
- 40:11Speaker 1: Are you saying, like people we don't like?
- 40:12Speaker 1: Yeah, pretty much yeah.
- 40:14Speaker 1: Oh, there's like a whole thing about-.
- 40:15Speaker 2: This is our time to just get upset about things and just like, let it out, it's rent, time Rent o'clock.
- 40:22Speaker 1: I love, I really fucking hate.
- 40:24Speaker 1: There's this girl who says no one wants to be the fat mom and she makes me viscerally angry because I'm like shut the fuck up, because that's just rude, no, seriously, because I'm like that's just.
- 40:35Speaker 1: She literally was like shouting, so she was doing what you do, but except she wasn't actually being nice she was being an asshole, and so she's just like.
- 40:42Speaker 1: nobody wants to be the fat mom, nobody wants to be the mom who's fat on the beach and their husband doesn't want to touch them.
- 40:49Speaker 1: And I was, like, what is wrong with you?
- 40:51Speaker 1: Like, what are you?
- 40:52Speaker 1: Are you okay?
- 40:54Speaker 1: Like, is your husband mean to you?
- 40:55Speaker 1: Is he telling you not to be fat?
- 40:56Speaker 1: Like, is that what's happening?
- 40:57Speaker 1: And then there's also people.
- 40:59Speaker 3: I mean it does sound like her husband doesn't want to touch her.
- 41:03Speaker 1: I was like that's.
- 41:04Speaker 1: I was like you are suppressing some things right now, but then there's also the whole.
- 41:08Speaker 1: There's a whole movement right now where people are telling pregnant women that if they're worried about gaining weight, they have the solution for them.
- 41:17Speaker 1: And I was like are you aware of what happens when you have a baby growing inside of you?
- 41:24Speaker 1: And so that's what I hate right now.
- 41:28Speaker 1: I also don't like the guy who drinks his pee.
- 41:30Speaker 1: I don't have a problem with him, I just think that that's weird Personally.
- 41:34Speaker 2: What about the guy that drinks his pee or injects his pee?
- 41:36Speaker 2: Injects his pee, cause that's different.
- 41:37Speaker 2: No, there's a guy that injects his pee.
- 41:40Speaker 1: No.
- 41:41Speaker 3: I did the same dating video except I did it for this guy.
- 41:49Speaker 3: Yeah, I did see that.
- 41:50Speaker 1: No, no, I did see that actually, and it was like, well, now you need to do a dating video with the guy that injects his pee, does he actually?
- 41:53Speaker 2: What do you mean?
- 41:53Speaker 2: No, that's real.
- 41:54Speaker 2: We're not making.
- 41:54Speaker 2: Trust me, where's crazier shit?
- 41:55Speaker 2: Yeah, no, that's 100% real.
- 41:56Speaker 1: He injects it in his body.
- 42:08Speaker 3: Yes, I don't know, like alcohol or something and then injects it.
- 42:10Speaker 3: Yeah, no, that'd be Dave.
- 42:10Speaker 3: That's the biohacker that's trying.
- 42:11Speaker 2: Oh, that's the guy like I think I saw on Mallory's video.
- 42:14Speaker 2: She's great, she was like there.
- 42:16Speaker 2: Dave Asprey, I think, has like um, uh, like celebration at 180.
- 42:20Speaker 2: Like when we turn 180, we'll have a celebration.
- 42:23Speaker 2: He sells like tickets for it and I'm like that's the fucking greatest shit ever.
- 42:26Speaker 2: Like that's.
- 42:27Speaker 2: I mean, how smart is that?
- 42:28Speaker 2: Be like listen, you buy a ticket now and when we're 180 years old we can celebrate.
- 42:33Speaker 2: How fucking great is that?
- 42:35Speaker 2: You just walk away with money.
- 42:36Speaker 2: That's amazing.
- 42:37Speaker 2: I'm mad I didn't think of it.
- 42:39Speaker 3: It's like that's almost like timeshares but for life it's worse than even, because you get literally nothing occasionally you can work something out.
- 42:51Speaker 2: It's just, it's ridiculous yeah, no, no, I'm.
- 42:57Speaker 1: He really injects himself with his pee.
- 42:58Speaker 1: I'm really like having an issue with this, because that's a like what is it?
- 43:02Speaker 1: What's the benefit to it?
- 43:04Speaker 2: is he saying there has to be a reason.
- 43:05Speaker 2: This is a says is a benefit, I'm sure, Like probably inflammation.
- 43:08Speaker 2: Probably better for inflammation is my guess.
- 43:10Speaker 1: Okay, I'm really distraught by that.
- 43:12Speaker 1: Maybe it's good for your metabolism.
- 43:14Speaker 2: I think it increases your vitality.
- 43:16Speaker 2: Is what it does.
- 43:16Speaker 1: Yeah, is that what it does?
- 43:18Speaker 1: Are you going to go tell your wife that?
- 43:20Speaker 2: You can use whatever fucking flashy terms you want, it's want it's great for that.
- 43:34Speaker 3: So you know, what I have a fucking problem with and I'm so tired of is the band.
- 43:35Speaker 2: In other countries we've all seen that we've all gone over so many.
- 43:37Speaker 2: It's so guys, guys, and it's always the same five things, it's always these few things.
- 43:38Speaker 2: And I I literally just I have my dms are just people like what about guys?
- 43:43Speaker 2: What about this thing that's banned in japan?
- 43:44Speaker 2: I'm like what's a?
- 43:46Speaker 2: Like holy shit.
- 43:47Speaker 2: Like there.
- 43:47Speaker 2: There's 18 kajillion countries out there and they all have their own rules on shit and they're all trying to make money in the ways they can.
- 43:55Speaker 2: So, like why does fucking you know, like England not use high fructose corn syrup?
- 43:59Speaker 2: Because we have fucked tons of corn here, people.
- 44:02Speaker 2: So we use high fructose corn syrup.
- 44:04Speaker 2: They use use high fructose corn syrup.
- 44:09Speaker 2: They use beets because they have beets.
- 44:10Speaker 2: And yet now I get people going like uh, we're fat in america because a high fructose corn syrup, it's fucking sugar.
- 44:14Speaker 2: People, calm the fuck, don't eat too much.
- 44:16Speaker 2: Problem solved like it's like in moderation.
- 44:19Speaker 2: We named our whole podcast that, yet you can't get this shit through your goddamn head.
- 44:24Speaker 2: And I'm I'm tired of the.
- 44:25Speaker 2: It's banned in other countries how you doing spoiler alert.
- 44:28Speaker 3: It's not banned in japan, why do?
- 44:31Speaker 2: you know, that I always get, like you know, and even, and, it's, and, and, to keep going to because I have to it's.
- 44:39Speaker 2: It's not even like a lot of the times.
- 44:42Speaker 2: It's not even true like how many times you've seen like aspartame is banned in other countries, which countries which countries aspartame banded.
- 44:47Speaker 2: You can't name any.
- 44:48Speaker 2: Oh, that's interesting because it's fucking not like.
- 44:50Speaker 2: It's, it's available widely in like 50 different countries, like all of europe.
- 44:55Speaker 2: Like, what are you talking about?
- 44:56Speaker 2: Even it's like, and it's just such this confirmation bias, because they've already decided the thing is bad and they're just looking for goddamn any reason that it could possibly be bad.
- 45:08Speaker 2: And they and their minds are so simple all they can latch on to is one idea like it's banned.
- 45:15Speaker 2: That's all they can do.
- 45:16Speaker 2: You, uh, what?
- 45:17Speaker 2: As soon as you say, like, what about any research or any evidence?
- 45:20Speaker 2: Fuck that, they're already out.
- 45:21Speaker 2: They just want a simple reason.
- 45:24Speaker 2: And it's, and it's banned fits that bill.
- 45:26Speaker 2: That's all it is, and I'm exhausted I'm particular.
- 45:30Speaker 1: I particularly love when they say something's banned in canada and I'm sitting here like no, it's not I have it right, you oh you need a compilation of just like having the things like they say it's banned like oh, I got it right here that many people arguing about things being banned and different like yes, oh it is it's like?
- 45:49Speaker 2: it's oh it's like ban.
- 45:51Speaker 2: Talk like it's like water talk but it's got its own fucking talk like it's just so the, the I went to another country over and over again it's.
- 45:59Speaker 1: I see that one.
- 46:00Speaker 1: I ate the same foods in another country and I lost weight and that's that's the popular one, and I'm like, oh, but that's not.
- 46:07Speaker 2: That's not why it wasn't suddenly like a quote cleaner food hey, numpty over there thinking that here's the thing, fucking europe has smaller portions for things like you go to europe and you're like what, where is like is this for?
- 46:21Speaker 2: Like a child like I'm used to getting four times as much in america.
- 46:24Speaker 2: It's served on this big ass bowl with like a scoop so you can just shovel it into your mouth.
- 46:30Speaker 2: And in Europe they just have smaller portions and they walk more.
- 46:33Speaker 2: I eat the same foods over there, oh, in smaller amounts, and you walked more and you lost weight.
- 46:39Speaker 2: Please break that down for me, because my simple mind can't understand that.
- 46:44Speaker 3: I love the people that they go on vacation and they they don't realize they're on vacation.
- 46:50Speaker 3: Yeah, you're going to be moved, you're.
- 46:51Speaker 3: Are you just sitting there watching tv on vacation?
- 46:54Speaker 3: No, or are you going to museums and historical sites or visiting people or whatever?
- 47:01Speaker 2: I swam all day and then I feel better and I lost weight.
- 47:04Speaker 2: What that that's so crazy Like?
- 47:06Speaker 2: Tell me all about it.
- 47:09Speaker 3: I mean, I often go on vacation to just sit in the hotel and watch TV while shoveling giant pizzas in my mouth.
- 47:16Speaker 2: That's the Canadian vacation.
- 47:21Speaker 3: Well, no, that's when I take a vacation down to America.
- 47:23Speaker 2: You're from Canada and you go somewhere else and you're just a canadian, so you're all you're I'm gonna go visit liam, and that's what I'm gonna do.
- 47:32Speaker 2: I'm just gonna sit there in front of tv and oh so, yeah, that's the shit like I'm just so exhausted for.
- 47:43Speaker 2: And it's gotten to the point where I just like direct them to food science babe and just like, hey, just go fucking watch her videos, because she does in-depth analysis and it's great, and I just can't, I can't do it anymore so what do you actually enjoy talking about then?
- 47:59Speaker 2: um, let's see, I like talking.
- 48:02Speaker 2: I mean pretty much I.
- 48:03Speaker 2: I when I, in terms of just like making videos, I love finding kind of like new, like different little recipes or little hacks.
- 48:11Speaker 2: Like, oh, if you mix this and that, I did one with the low-carb wrap and then you put mixed cottage cheese and eggs and you put it in the low-carb wrap and you put cheese and toppings or whatever you want in a little container that'll hold it and then you bake it and you just bake it and it's kind of like a quiche.
- 48:26Speaker 2: Kind of like a quiche but not a quiche.
- 48:28Speaker 2: It's kind of like that.
- 48:29Speaker 2: But you get fiber and you get protein and you know you can actually have it for like a couple days.
- 48:32Speaker 2: It's not the greatest the second day, I will admit, but it's still like pretty good.
- 48:36Speaker 2: You reheat it, put a little like sriracha or some shit on there or whatever, some hot sauce and I put like goat cheese and sun-dried tomatoes.
- 48:43Speaker 2: So good, that's like one of my favorite things, like so finding those things.
- 48:46Speaker 2: I enjoy that.
- 48:47Speaker 2: And then the bad shit.
- 48:49Speaker 2: I just have to yell about it because that's the only way I feel slightly better too long didn't read.
- 48:53Speaker 3: He likes talking about food he can eat instead of food he's supposed to be afraid of pretty like.
- 48:58Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, that's basically is is a mix of my channel, really right, like just yelling about shit, that's annoying, and then be like, hey, cool, but what about this?
- 49:07Speaker 2: Like ice cream?
- 49:07Speaker 1: that's like cool there we go this is cool yeah, that's fun.
- 49:14Speaker 1: Oh, I actually didn't even realize you had a normal mug.
- 49:18Speaker 1: I always thought you had the fuck me sideways one uh, I got a few mugs.
- 49:21Speaker 2: This one, like as far, this one's like a good mythical morning thing which, like it's some guys on youtube and they do dumb stuff and I like it.
- 49:29Speaker 1: It's funny they do they do the food stuff.
- 49:31Speaker 1: They like they.
- 49:32Speaker 1: They like they do the food stuff.
- 49:34Speaker 2: Yeah, I like food stuff, I like fun.
- 49:35Speaker 2: It's so let me can I just say it's so fucking nice.
- 49:38Speaker 2: It's so nice to go from like the shit that I have to deal with like on and getting tagged and whatnot, and then I go to another channel where people are just like what if we put this blue thing in this red thing and we ate it?
- 49:49Speaker 2: And no one's like fucking freaked out about it and it's just like.
- 49:52Speaker 2: They just do it, they just live their goddamn life and I'm like that's fantastic, like that's amazing, and they're not constantly worried about all these like fucking little ingredients.
- 50:02Speaker 2: Worrying about that shit is's gonna kill you long before yellow five, where the fuck you're worried about go ahead have you ever thought that maybe you can just talk about that stuff like fun?
- 50:14Speaker 2: oh well, I mean I, I feel compelled, I I've already started.
- 50:18Speaker 2: So like my soul is like already partly in it and I have to go back to this well of despair, at least you know, I don't know a couple times a week or so.
- 50:28Speaker 2: And but also yelling about things makes me feel better because I see it all the time.
- 50:33Speaker 2: So when I yell I feel better about it.
- 50:35Speaker 1: That's fair.
- 50:36Speaker 1: I've realized I'm on a different side of the internet than a lot of people.
- 50:39Speaker 1: I get sent dumb videos often, but, like most often, people are like you've made me feel so good about myself and I'm like thanks, that's all I care about.
- 50:47Speaker 1: Oh no, you guys froze again.
- 50:50Speaker 3: No, you froze.
- 50:51Speaker 1: I know it was me, it's fine, but I was saying that I mostly get people who are like you made me feel so good about myself, you make the gym seem like such a fun place and I'm like thanks, guys, and I'm like beings who are just grouchy and I'm not saying you're grouchy by any means, I'm just saying I'm sorry that you have to deal with so many grouchy humans on the internet.
- 51:10Speaker 2: Yeah, so that's why we have grouchy for about 30 minutes on the on the podcast and then he gets it out well, you're grouchy because you don't like.
- 51:20Speaker 1: You don't like the, the bad people online who are making the other people scared of the things for no reason, which is understandable, understandable.
- 51:26Speaker 2: And it is really enjoyable to get people to be like I used to be afraid of, like every food.
- 51:30Speaker 2: And now I just like eat and it's cool.
- 51:32Speaker 2: I'm like that makes me feel better than anything, cause it's just like I was told that 1200 calories is going to make me fat and ruin my metabolism and I'm like, okay, well, no, but like also, you shouldn, you shouldn't eat that, because that's not a good idea for most people.
- 51:47Speaker 2: And then, yeah, like they feel better after that.
- 51:49Speaker 2: I'm like cool, like that's now, just try this cool quiche thing and have some ice cream.
- 51:54Speaker 2: Bye.
- 52:00Speaker 1: See, that's a great balance.
- 52:01Speaker 3: Rob, did you ever say the thing that hurts you?
- 52:02Speaker 3: All the centenarians, all of them, have like the same things in common they didn't care, they didn't worry about food, they didn't worry about all these things.
- 52:09Speaker 3: They just lived a worry-free life where they socialized, had fun, yeah, and they live to be 100 again they.
- 52:20Speaker 3: They move a lot throughout the day dave asprey, and he's injecting his own urine the biohackers are just such an interesting group of people it's and it's.
- 52:31Speaker 2: Isn't it so strange, like how all these like additives and things are terrible for us, except in these like supplements that are now the best thing for us, like there's just these different groups and there's this venn diagram where they kind of overlap in certain areas, but like, yeah, it's, I don't know like biohackers are just strange to me I froze again, it's fine.
- 52:52Speaker 1: Um, isn't it like the nobel?
- 52:54Speaker 1: I'm like, isn't it like the nobel prize theory or something where the more that people learn like gain knowledge, then eventually they kind of like veer off into then believing random stuff?
- 53:06Speaker 1: Oh, I froze again.
- 53:07Speaker 1: How is?
- 53:08Speaker 1: My internet this bad?
- 53:09Speaker 1: How is my internet this bad?
- 53:11Speaker 2: I've never had this problem before in my life I heard nobel prize and the more knowledge they learned, the.
- 53:16Speaker 2: And then just stopped.
- 53:17Speaker 2: I'm like, okay, the more knowledge they learn, that's what's important.
- 53:21Speaker 1: The more knowledge they start to have and the more they start to veer off the more they start to veer off into like kind of crystals, and I don't want to say anything else because I don't want to get other people mad at me for like not really believing in the things that they believe in, but they kind of like questionable things like that.
- 53:40Speaker 1: And so I feel like that's where a lot of the biohackers are, is like they start with good intentions and then slowly they're like oh, but then there, then there's all these things.
- 53:48Speaker 2: So what do you?
- 53:49Speaker 2: Do you think that these like grifters that start off?
- 53:51Speaker 2: They start off with like I'm going to make as much money as fucking possible and screw everyone else who cares.
- 53:56Speaker 2: Or are they just saying they go into it with the good intentions but slowly they realize how much money they can make and how little they care about other people and they just kind of move more into the money making situation and I know it's going to be a little percentage of both.
- 54:09Speaker 2: Like some people do this, some people do that.
- 54:11Speaker 2: But do you think it's more like one or the other?
- 54:14Speaker 2: Is it like a mix?
- 54:15Speaker 2: What's going on?
- 54:16Speaker 1: Maybe it's the optimist in me.
- 54:17Speaker 1: I want to believe that they came from a good place initially and then slowly they just got veered into the land of making lots of money off of poor, unsuspecting humans, because I've seen that with.
- 54:32Speaker 1: To be fair, like I've seen that with a lot of coaches, or like a lot of people in the fitness industry, they start their fitness journey because they want to feel better.
- 54:37Speaker 1: They start sharing their journey because they're like, oh my gosh, it made me feel so good, I can help you feel good.
- 54:42Speaker 1: And then they're like oh, I can actually make a lot of money off this.
- 54:45Speaker 1: And then they do, and then they screw people over.
- 54:48Speaker 1: So I think that if you ever teetered on the ethics scale, I think the fast cash grab can end up pushing people on that other side if their values and morals were already questionable.
- 55:04Speaker 1: But it doesn't mean they're bad people.
- 55:08Speaker 2: Rob, what do you think?
- 55:13Speaker 3: Well, you know, interestingly enough, looking back at, I went through Bobby's history a little bit when I was doing the video where I was figuring out what all he had his hands in.
- 55:25Speaker 3: Yeah, right, right, I remember that.
- 55:27Speaker 3: And you go back in Bobby's history far enough, you know he was just making plain old cooking videos, yeah.
- 55:31Speaker 3: And then he started making money off that and he slowly drifted more and more towards grifting rather than making the cooking videos.
- 55:41Speaker 2: Yeah, I think he's like.
- 55:43Speaker 2: I think definitely an example of like.
- 55:44Speaker 2: Yeah, just like, oh, I'm gonna do some recipes and help people and then maybe they just start smelling their farts more and more and they get like in other people, like in their circle, and they like, I don't know, like, because, like you can fall into any circle it's social media, right.
- 55:58Speaker 2: You can find flat earthers if you're looking, like you can, you can fall into anything you want so maybe they just had brendan on.
- 56:04Speaker 3: He told us like he didn't give us the actual number, but he told us that he had offers from like the people selling wine and he said they were significantly high.
- 56:13Speaker 2: Right, exactly.
- 56:14Speaker 2: So I think, you slowly fall into that and then you get offered money and it's just like, well, yeah, I'm going to take this, you know.
- 56:22Speaker 1: I think that is what it is.
- 56:24Speaker 3: It is what it is.
- 56:25Speaker 1: Good night everybody.
- 56:27Speaker 2: It is what it is.
- 56:28Speaker 2: I mean, that's pretty much our take on, like that's, that's what this podcast is about.
- 56:32Speaker 2: It is what it is and don't be your worst.
- 56:35Speaker 3: And what the cat.
- 56:36Speaker 1: I always tell people don't be a dick.
- 56:38Speaker 3: Don't be a frozen Internet, yeah.
- 56:41Speaker 1: OK, I have literally never had an issue with my Internet, ever on a podcast, and so never had an issue with my internet ever on a podcast.
- 56:51Speaker 1: And so this is where I'm like I'm convinced it's you guys, you're the problem.
- 56:52Speaker 1: The bar was too low over there apparently I haven't listened to enough of your episodes because I didn't realize it was this chaotic oh yeah, I know it's always this chaotic.
- 57:06Speaker 2: We're just like talk about just you know, random shit, that whatever bothers you, or that sort of stuff so it's like therapy it's a pretty much.
- 57:14Speaker 2: It's a mix of like here's some good tips and also I know you feel shitty because of all this stuff and we're just gonna yell about it, so we feel better have you ever been to like at the uh, the smash room, those things are fucking dope.
- 57:29Speaker 2: I want to do one of those one day.
- 57:31Speaker 2: So they just give you a giant sledgehammer.
- 57:34Speaker 1: No, I haven't done one.
- 57:35Speaker 2: I could see you thriving in there oh, that would be great, like just smashing any old, like things that are gonna get busted anyway.
- 57:42Speaker 2: You know, whatever thrown out, that would be great yep, that's it.
- 57:47Speaker 1: There you go.
- 57:47Speaker 1: You can tell your wife valentine's day present, that's what you guys?
- 57:52Speaker 2: I don't tell my wife anything.
- 57:53Speaker 2: It's, it's a, it's a troubled situation.
- 57:56Speaker 3: So I think that's a really good exercise.
- 57:59Speaker 2: It would be a great exercise and you know, like you know, how much energy you get out doing that.
- 58:04Speaker 2: Forget, forget steps.
- 58:05Speaker 1: There you go smashing plates if you guys can't afford it, just go for your ex's car.
- 58:10Speaker 1: I'm just kidding.
- 58:13Speaker 3: Kidding, not kidding.
- 58:14Speaker 1: I'm kidding, don't go to jail.
- 58:15Speaker 1: I'm not condoning this.
- 58:17Speaker 1: Don't say I said that.
- 58:21Speaker 3: You sounded like it came from a place that you may have known about.
- 58:28Speaker 1: I would never have done that in my past life.
- 58:29Speaker 1: I'm too scared to do that.
- 58:33Speaker 2: No, I'm scared of getting in trouble.
- 58:36Speaker 1: But you thought about it.
- 58:37Speaker 1: Doing that to an ex's car, no, doing that to a kind of-.
- 58:40Speaker 3: Convenient internet freeze just as we're asking the hard questions.
- 58:46Speaker 1: No To an ex's car, no To a questionable ex best friend probably liam's like there's a lot to unpack there I think I'm almost too positive for liam liam's like I can't handle this.
- 59:00Speaker 3: We need to get her to like well, I think part of it's the internet freezing.
- 59:04Speaker 3: We have these moments where we have to sit here for like 10 seconds and we're just like and then we just kind of guess.
- 59:11Speaker 2: We kind of just guess what happened.
- 59:13Speaker 1: You're like what's going on?
- 59:14Speaker 1: I'm still here.
- 59:17Speaker 3: We've just lost our flow.
- 59:17Speaker 1: I was going to say, now that the internet's actually being good, you guys are like we have nothing.
- 59:23Speaker 3: This is going to be a nightmare to edit.
- 59:26Speaker 2: The first beginning wasn't too bad, it just slowly, I think at the end there.
- 59:30Speaker 1: Yeah, got worse.
- 59:31Speaker 1: It could sense Liam's rage.
- 59:34Speaker 2: Just put in my rants and then cut everything else out.
- 59:40Speaker 3: Just like put those in there and then be like you know, Like I'll just cut me and Alex out.
- 59:42Speaker 3: The entire thing will be you ranting back to back.
- 59:45Speaker 2: Literally, I would go in and just be like we had technical issues.
- 59:53Speaker 2: So I'm just gonna give liam ranting for like 10 minutes and just like more than 10 minutes, come on, I think.
- 59:56Speaker 2: Well, no, out of like 30 minutes there are 10 of at least 10.
- 59:57Speaker 2: 15 of it was half of.
- 59:58Speaker 2: It was just me ranting.
- 59:59Speaker 2: Um, okay, so we weren't just talking to a bunch there about what to talk about to finish this up.
- 1:00:05Speaker 2: So what we actually wanted to talk about was how we always get it where people just say like hey, I had a bad day, like what do I do?
- 1:00:13Speaker 2: And so like what I always tell them is like, okay, there's 364, 364.
- 1:00:19Speaker 2: We're in a leap year, aren't we in a leap?
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: year, or was that last year?
- 1:00:21Speaker 2: I don't know, in a leap year, yes, so there's like 365 more days you get an extra day, hey, that day this year doesn't even matter, it's during a leap year, it so there's like 365 more days you get an extra day.
- 1:00:28Speaker 2: Hey, that day this year doesn't even matter, it's during a leap year, doesn't fucking even matter.
- 1:00:30Speaker 2: So you have.
- 1:00:32Speaker 2: You have all this time to get back into what you were doing, like it just, alex, I need you to rant with me a little bit.
- 1:00:39Speaker 2: You're too positive, I'm gonna bring you down.
- 1:00:41Speaker 2: I need you to go to people and tell them, like in a bit of a rant here, that it's okay, it's fine to have.
- 1:00:49Speaker 3: Let me get some popcorn.
- 1:00:50Speaker 2: I'm just gonna be rob's going to drink his mountain dew zero because that's the only diet soda he's allowed to have in canada.
- 1:00:56Speaker 2: And alex, true story.
- 1:00:58Speaker 2: I need you to tell people, the people that are always dming me about how I had a bad day.
- 1:01:04Speaker 2: What do I do?
- 1:01:04Speaker 2: That it's gonna be fine, okay.
- 1:01:06Speaker 2: Okay, you had a bad day so it's.
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: I do that, it's going to be fine, okay.
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: Okay, you had a bad day, so it's going to be fine.
- 1:01:09Speaker 1: Why are you stressing yourself out?
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: You missed one day.
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: That doesn't mean that you can't do anything today or the next meal or the next thought that you have.
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: You can be a little kinder to yourself.
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: You can go to the gym, you can go on a walk.
- 1:01:21Speaker 2: This is good, but a little higher.
- 1:01:23Speaker 2: Yell more Higher pitch More yelling, you know, volume, volume, more, volume, go, go.
- 1:01:28Speaker 1: I'm trying to beat you where you're at, you're fine, you're fine.
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: No, a little more volume.
- 1:01:31Speaker 1: Go, go, go.
- 1:01:31Speaker 1: You never miss twice.
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: That is the rule that you have to have for yourself.
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: Stop holding yourself back and making excuses and saying that I'm not perfect.
- 1:01:40Speaker 2: More swearing.
- 1:01:40Speaker 2: Throw some fucks in there.
- 1:01:42Speaker 1: I can't believe.
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: I fucking messed up today and so now I'm a fucking failure.
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: You're not a fucking failure, you're being way harder on yourself than you need to be.
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: So suck it up, go make the next decision something that you're actually going to be fucking proud of and then get over it.
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: It's not that big of a deal.
- 1:01:59Speaker 2: It's not that big of a fucking deal.
- 1:02:02Speaker 2: It's cool, all right.
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: It's fine, never miss place.

- 1:02:12Speaker 1: Liam just gave you an excuse, I'm setting the bar too low.
- 1:02:14Speaker 2: Now alex is coming up to raise the bar.
- 1:02:15Speaker 2: You had one bad moment.
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: The next moment is yours go, take the moment and take a step outside.
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: You just won the day.
- 1:02:25Speaker 1: Go yell outside, just go shout.
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: There you go.
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: Did I rant?
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: Well enough, I'm so sweaty right now.
- 1:02:33Speaker 1: Is that what happens when you rant?
- 1:02:36Speaker 2: This is why I'm so lean.
- 1:02:38Speaker 2: It's because I fucking yell, if you want to be lean go yell at people.
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: If you want to lose weight.

- 1:03:16Speaker 2: He told me to shout, they'll hear what they hear it doesn't matter, they'll get the point because we yelled enough.
- 1:03:24Speaker 1: That's how you get people to believe what you're saying.

- 1:03:29Speaker 1: Yes, am I?
- 1:03:31Speaker 3: allowed to, and you slam your fist on the desk.
- 1:03:33Speaker 3: There you go.
