- 2:48Sunny Morning sends you. In local news, Boston's
- 2:54Riverside thoroughfare, Storo Drive, will undergo
- 2:57nightly closures through August, beginning Monday.
- 3:01The eastbound lanes, spanning from North Harvard
- 3:03Street to Mooger Way, will close at 8 o 'clock
- 3:06in the evening and reopen at 5 o 'clock in the
- 3:09morning the following day, according to Massachusetts
- 3:12transportation officials. These closures are
- 3:15essential for maintenance of the Storo Drive
- 3:17tunnel, which began its first phase of work in
- 3:20April. The department will adjust the schedule
- 3:23during major local events, including concerts
- 3:26at Fenway Park and celebrations for the nation's
- 3:29250th birthday. Now on to sports. Trading card
- 3:40market sales reached record highs in April, driven
- 3:43by Cooper Flag and Pokemon. A pair of seven -figure
- 3:47private sales and a new all -time high for grading
- 3:50activity highlighted another impressive month
- 3:53for the trading card market. SalesTracker CardLadder
- 3:57recorded more than $616 million in online secondary
- 4:01market sales for the industry, marking the highest
- 4:04single month recorded by the tool since its reporting
- 4:07began in 2024. April's total is the fourth consecutive
- 4:12record month recorded by CardLadder. Trading
- 4:16card grading also reached an all -time high in
- 4:19April, with more than 3 .1 million cards graded
- 4:22by third -party authenticators. In local sports,
- 4:26the Red Sox look to bounce back tonight against
- 4:29Philadelphia at Fenway, but they're grappling
- 4:32with serious concerns entering mid -May. Boston
- 4:36sits 17 -23, five games back in the division
- 4:40with a home offense that's been quiet. Just nine
- 4:44homers at Fenway, the fewest in baseball. First
- 4:48baseman Wilson Contreras is day -to -day after
- 4:51getting hit by a pitch Sunday, a bloat of a lineup
- 4:55that scored three or fewer runs in 13 of 19 home
- 4:59games. Tonight's matchup against Zach Wheeler
- 5:03won't be easy, but the Red Sox showed they can
- 5:06win when they're focused. They took two of three
- 5:08from Detroit last week. First pitch is at 6 .45.
- 5:14Meanwhile, the Celtics are officially in on Giannis
- 5:18Antetokounmpo heading into summer. Boston joined
- 5:21the Lakers, Knicks, Cavaliers, and Timberwolves
- 5:25pursuing the Bucs' star. Brad Stevens and the
- 5:29front office are thinking big picture after the
- 5:32first -round collapse to Philadelphia. The Seas
- 5:36hold two picks in this year's draft at 27 -40.
- 5:40giving them multiple chances to add young talent
- 5:43as they reset their roster. On the ice, Bruins
- 5:47defenseman Charlie McAvoy is having an in -person
- 5:51hearing today at NHL headquarters over his slashing
- 5:54penalty on Buffalo's Sac Benson. The in -person
- 5:59hearing suggests the league is considering a
- 6:02suspension longer than five games, which would
- 6:05carry over to next season. In top news, the world's
- 6:11highest -flying repo men are collecting Spirit
- 6:14Airlines jets. The company's collapse has triggered
- 6:18a mission to retrieve dozens of planes and deposit
- 6:21them in Arizona boneyards. The first call came
- 6:24to Bob Allen's phone at 6 p .m. Eastern time
- 6:27on a Friday, instructing him to get the repo
- 6:30men ready. While Spirit Airlines was still operating,
- 6:34aircraft leasing firms were anxious to reclaim
- 6:36their bright yellow jets. as Spirit barreled
- 6:39toward liquidation. Allen stated he had six hours
- 6:43to find 20 pilots. Nomadic Aviation Group quickly
- 6:47assembled a roster of pilots, most of whom had
- 6:50worked for Spirit, creating a WhatsApp group
- 6:53that swelled to 40 pilots. One pilot, who had
- 6:57just landed, asked, can I fly in shorts? Giordano
- 7:02replied, not a problem. adding that they generally
- 7:05wear khakis and polos, but must adapt as needed.
- 7:09In business news, El Salvador's Bitcoin -loving
- 7:14president has allegedly frozen assets of local
- 7:17news outlet El Foro. The outlet has reported
- 7:20that assets tied to two of its shareholders,
- 7:23including bank accounts and property, have been
- 7:26frozen. Alfaro maintains that President Nayib
- 7:30Bukal ordered this action as retaliation for
- 7:33its investigations into corruption within his
- 7:36administration. This alleged move is ironic,
- 7:39as Bukal has positioned himself as one of Bitcoin's
- 7:43most vocal advocates. Freezing bank accounts
- 7:46contradicts the cypherpum philosophy that underpins
- 7:50the financial technology. Director Carlos Data
- 7:54called the measures political rather than fiscal.
- 7:57accusing the government of trying to silence
- 7:59critical voices. In crypto movement, Bitcoin
- 8:04is unchanged at about $81 ,000. Ethereum is down
- 8:091 % to about $2 ,000. And XRP is up 1 % to $1
- 8:16.46. Moving on to a more local vibe. In our community

- 9:04now, back to the show. Let's talk science. There
- 9:09is a reason your allergies are awful this year,
- 9:11and they are going to get worse. New types of
- 9:15pollen, and more of it, are in the air this spring
- 9:17season, thanks to climate change. Climate change
- 9:21is making your allergies worse. by creating longer
- 9:24and more intense pollen seasons, according to
- 9:27research from scientists and physicians. Paul
- 9:30Beggs, an environmental health scientist, states,
- 9:33We know that climate change is leading to greater
- 9:36amounts of pollen in the atmosphere. AccuWeather's
- 9:402026 United States allergy forecast predicts
- 9:43more high pollen days this year, driven by storms
- 9:46and temperature swings. Brett Anderson, a climate
- 9:50expert, adds, the seasonal allergy season in
- 9:53America is expanding. And in entertainment news,
- 10:00Aaron Paul has joined the cast of Fallout Season
- 10:043. Details about his role are kept under wraps,
- 10:08while Annabelle O 'Hagan and Dave Register have
- 10:11been promoted to series regulars on the Amazon
- 10:14Prime Video science fiction drama. The casting
- 10:18marks a reunion between Paul and executive producers
- 10:21Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, who cast the Breaking
- 10:25Bad star in the final season of their show Westworld.
- 10:29Created by Graham Wagner and Geneva Robertson
- 10:32-Dwarrett, Fallout is based on the post -apocalyptic
- 10:36video game franchise. It takes place 200 years
- 10:40after a nuclear holocaust when sheltered vault
- 10:43dwellers return to a violent wasteland. Well,
- 10:47alrighty folks, it's time for the quote of the
- 10:50day. And today, our quote comes from the Norwegian
- 10:54explorer and scientist, Fridtjof Nansen. And
- 10:59he said, The difficult is what takes a little
- 11:02time. The impossible is what takes a little longer.
