- 0:03SPEAKER_00: Hello everyone, welcome back to the Astrology for Beginners podcast.
- 0:08SPEAKER_00: I'm your host, Stephanie Kate Boucher, and I am so happy to have you here.
- 0:13SPEAKER_00: This is the podcast for you if you have ever wanted to learn how to read a natal chart or were kind of interested in astrology and wished that you understood more about it, but you didn't know where to begin or it seemed too complicated and you didn't have the time or the resources to invest in learning it.
- 0:31SPEAKER_00: My goal is to break things down for you episode by episode in the most simplified way that I can so that you can learn to speak the language of the stars.
- 0:41SPEAKER_00: Thank you for learning astrology with me.
- 0:44SPEAKER_00: today we are going to be talking about lunar nodes.
- 0:49SPEAKER_00: We get to cover some new territory and discuss something that we haven't covered yet.
- 0:55SPEAKER_00: Yay!
- 0:55SPEAKER_00: But first, I hope you will just take a minute at some point, doesn't have to be right now, to think about
- 1:04SPEAKER_00: how far you have come since you began listening to this show.
- 1:10SPEAKER_00: In just about 13 episodes or so, you have learned quite a bit.
- 1:16SPEAKER_00: You understand now how a natal chart is structured.
- 1:21SPEAKER_00: For example, you understand that your natal chart wheel is divided into houses and that each house represents a particular part or parts of your life.
- 1:33SPEAKER_00: You have a much better understanding of all 12 signs rather than just the one or two or three that might have felt most relevant to you before.
- 1:44SPEAKER_00: You know and understand your big three.
- 1:47SPEAKER_00: And you understand now what all of the different planets in your chart mean.
- 1:52SPEAKER_00: You know that there are personal planets and that those have the most impact on how we think, feel, and behave.
- 2:00SPEAKER_00: You know that there are social planets and that those allow us to interact with the world around us, especially when it comes to our dreams and our limitations.
- 2:11SPEAKER_00: You also know about the outer planets or transpersonal planets and how they impact us societally, culturally, and generationally, and that they can also impact us personally too, especially if they're placed prominently in our charts.
- 2:29SPEAKER_00: And hopefully you have taken some time with your own chart to look at all those planets and have assessed which houses and which signs they are in and started to make some interpretations.
- 2:42SPEAKER_00: This will be a lengthy process for sure when you're first starting out, but you got to start somewhere.
- 2:49SPEAKER_00: All of that, everyone, all of that by itself is a lot of knowledge.
- 2:55SPEAKER_00: There is still much more that you are going to want to learn if you like astrology.
- 3:01SPEAKER_00: But even if you stopped right now and didn't learn anything else, you know more about astrology at this point than the vast majority of people who are walking around on the planet right now.
- 3:17SPEAKER_00: So getting to this place is not a small thing.
- 3:21SPEAKER_00: Astrology can be a lot.
- 3:24SPEAKER_00: It's intricate.
- 3:25SPEAKER_00: It's complicated.
- 3:26SPEAKER_00: There are lots of moving parts.
- 3:29SPEAKER_00: But you now have a pretty good foundation to start with.
- 3:34SPEAKER_00: At least I hope that that is how you feel.
- 3:36SPEAKER_00: So pat yourself on the back.
- 3:38SPEAKER_00: I'm definitely patting you on the back.
- 3:41SPEAKER_00: And let's keep going.
- 3:43SPEAKER_00: I also don't want you to forget that one of the best things about astrology, the main reason that I love it so much, in addition to just being really fun, is that it's one of the best tools we have for understanding ourselves and one another so that we can be more accepting of ourselves and one another and the very unique journeys that each of us are on.
- 4:12SPEAKER_00: If we were all on the same journey and meant to be doing the same things, living the same or similar lives with the same or similar worldviews or beliefs or personality types, or if we were all meant to be facing the same types of challenges, learning the same lessons, then we'd all have the same chart.
- 4:36SPEAKER_00: But we don't.
- 4:37SPEAKER_00: Everyone gets their own unique chart to reflect their own unique journey that is meant just for them.
- 4:44SPEAKER_00: And we can not only use astrology to see or demonstrate that, but use it to accept ourselves and others and support each other as we walk these very difficult and exciting human journeys that we're on.
- 5:00SPEAKER_00: Let's see all of our journeys as the beautiful little treasure hunts that they are.
- 5:07SPEAKER_00: And I think this actually segues well into today's topic, which, as I said, is the lunar nodes.
- 5:14SPEAKER_00: We're going to talk about the north and south nodes in a natal chart and what they mean.
- 5:20SPEAKER_00: Basically, there's nothing in your natal chart that highlights a person's personal journey over the entire arc of your life,
- 5:28SPEAKER_00: better than the placement of one's lunar nodes.
- 5:32SPEAKER_00: They are literally about your direction, where you've come from, and where you are headed.
- 5:38SPEAKER_00: Before we begin, it might be helpful for you to have an idea of where the north and south node are in your chart.
- 5:47SPEAKER_00: So if you don't know that off the top of your head already, and you're in a space where you can do so safely, like you're not driving, just hit pause, pull up your chart and look for the two symbols that are opposite one another in your chart that look like a horseshoe, essentially.
- 6:05SPEAKER_00: like there's a U, like the letter U, with little circles or a little loop on each side of the U. So the U, or the horseshoe that is pointing upward with the circles on the top, represents the south node.
- 6:22SPEAKER_00: And the upside down U represents
- 6:25SPEAKER_00: with the circles pointing down represents the north node.
- 6:30SPEAKER_00: In case this description sounds confusing, I will place a link in the show notes that will take you to a spot where you can see the symbol or you can just do an internet search on a north node symbol or south node symbol or something like that and it will immediately show you what I'm talking about.
- 6:47SPEAKER_00: Okay, so as we start talking about this, it's worth knowing that the lunar nodes are not tangible objects or celestial bodies like the planets are or like the sun and the moon are.
- 7:01SPEAKER_00: They're actually not a physical thing at all.
- 7:03SPEAKER_00: They are mathematical points in space.
- 7:07SPEAKER_00: And I don't want to get too technical about this, except just to say that it has to do with where it is that the moon's path around the earth also happens to cross the earth's path around the sun.
- 7:21SPEAKER_00: This mathematical point creates an axis with the north node on one far end of that axis and the south node on the other far end of that same axis.
- 7:32SPEAKER_00: You can visually just draw a straight line between the two and they are exactly opposite.
- 7:37SPEAKER_00: So if you have your north node, for example, at 16 degrees Aries, then you have your south node at 16 degrees Libra.
- 7:47SPEAKER_00: Taken together, this axis with the south node on one end and the north node on the other tells a story about a journey that your soul is on.
- 7:58SPEAKER_00: The south node, which is that horseshoe shaped like the letter U with the little prongs pointing upward, tells you where you've been and where you came from.
- 8:11SPEAKER_00: If you want to take this to the most spiritual and or esoteric level possible, you could say that it's an indicator of what you've been doing a lot of or have already done in past lives and what you were really good at before.
- 8:30SPEAKER_00: what you have done a lot of in the past, what skills from the past you have brought forward with you into this lifetime.
- 8:40SPEAKER_00: This is your past knowledge and past experience.
- 8:45SPEAKER_00: And this is a place where you already have a lot of competence and a lot of wisdom.
- 8:51SPEAKER_00: You may or may not be utilizing those skills in this lifetime now, but you probably over-relied on your proficiency in that area before.
- 9:05SPEAKER_00: You may have become too attached to that particular way of doing things, and it may have made you blind to other things that you could have explored.
- 9:16SPEAKER_00: you may still now tend to fall back into these patterns.
- 9:21SPEAKER_00: It's also possible, though, that you avoid them or you're trying to avoid them because sinking back into those tendency makes you feel stuck.
- 9:30SPEAKER_00: Another way that people sometimes interpret the South Node can be about ancestry or lineage.
- 9:38SPEAKER_00: In some cases, it can indicate literally what types of skills, traits, and experiences your ancestors have had.
- 9:45SPEAKER_00: and what they have passed down to you.
- 9:48SPEAKER_00: It can be what you've inherited from them.
- 9:51SPEAKER_00: And actually, both of those ideas, the connection to past lives and the ties to your ancestry, may in fact fit together anyway, because some people feel that most of us are actually born into families where they can continue working on the lessons that they didn't finish in prior lifetimes.
- 10:12SPEAKER_00: Either way, however, that you choose to look at it, the South Node is about your past and your history and your journey up to this point.
- 10:21SPEAKER_00: Now your North Node is the opposite.
- 10:24SPEAKER_00: Your North Node is where you are meant to go next in your personal evolution.
- 10:30SPEAKER_00: It's where you are headed and the next step of your journey.
- 10:35SPEAKER_00: This is kind of...
- 10:37SPEAKER_00: what you came here in this particular body at this particular time to learn how to do and to start doing things differently so that ultimately you can gain a much more balanced perspective of these two polar opposite things so you're constantly going to feel intrigued by the area of life where your north node is it's going to seem interesting or alluring to you
- 11:06SPEAKER_00: And it will keep trying to pull you towards it, even if you still feel more comfortable, as some people do, on the other end of the axis where your south node is.
- 11:18SPEAKER_00: Because your north node, even though it's where you will inevitably end up, is outside of your comfort zone.
- 11:25SPEAKER_00: New things are often uncomfortable for us.
- 11:29SPEAKER_00: The north node can feel a little wobbly.
- 11:32SPEAKER_00: You're not always confident there.
- 11:35SPEAKER_00: And yet you can't quite seem to stay away, even if you feel unsure about how to do it or you feel unsure about what the result is going to be.
- 11:46SPEAKER_00: You're moving into unknown territory here, and that can feel weird.
- 11:50SPEAKER_00: So there can often be this little dance that takes place throughout our lives where we move toward our North Node some of the time, experiment with it, dabble in it in ways big or small.
- 12:02SPEAKER_00: And then when things sort of feel off balance, then we retreat back towards our South Node where we feel like we're
- 12:08SPEAKER_00: better at everything, like we know what to expect, we know what we're doing, things feel stable, right?
- 12:15SPEAKER_00: Our south nodes provide us with a strong foundation.
- 12:19SPEAKER_00: And the good news is that we never give them up.
- 12:23SPEAKER_00: That's the beauty of it.
- 12:24SPEAKER_00: You're not being asked to give up your south node so that you can trade it in for your north node.
- 12:30SPEAKER_00: You know, it's just that ultimately, we're not going to stay solely in the place of our South Node forever because doing the same thing all the time gets boring.
- 12:41SPEAKER_00: And it's not that fulfilling because there's not a lot left for us to learn there.
- 12:46SPEAKER_00: We come here into this world in order to learn and gather all kinds of new experiences.
- 12:53SPEAKER_00: So we can't just keep doing the same things life after life.
- 12:58SPEAKER_00: We need to stretch ourselves.
- 13:00SPEAKER_00: So even though the North Node direction feels less secure, maybe even a little scary at times, because we don't know how to do it as well, and we don't know what to expect there, pursuing it ultimately is what is going to make us feel the most fulfilled in life and the most satisfied with ourselves.
- 13:20SPEAKER_00: Because this is a goal your soul set out to accomplish in this life, or at least make progress on.
- 13:26SPEAKER_00: And we're always more proud of ourselves when we move toward a goal and make progress toward a goal and even accomplish a goal than we do if we keep retreating from the goals that we set for ourselves.
- 13:39SPEAKER_00: That can, as most of us know, leave us feeling disappointed and empty.
- 13:44SPEAKER_00: Now, some people don't do as much of this back and forth thing, this little dance I'm talking about.
- 13:50SPEAKER_00: There are those who will look at their chart and see that they've kind of been all in on this path of their north node placement all along.
- 13:59SPEAKER_00: And they're not all that interested in using their south node placement all that much.
- 14:04SPEAKER_00: They've sort of let it go for now.
- 14:07SPEAKER_00: And it's not interesting to them or it seems unappealing to them.
- 14:11SPEAKER_00: And when it comes to their north node, they are out there in the world and they are doing it.
- 14:16SPEAKER_00: They're living that placement.
- 14:18SPEAKER_00: We all have different approaches to change for all kinds of reasons.
- 14:24SPEAKER_00: This placement, I'm telling you, can really tell you a lot about a person and what their motivations are.
- 14:30SPEAKER_00: It is a really good tool for understanding and accepting someone and the path that they are choosing to take in life without judgment.
- 14:40SPEAKER_00: For example...
- 14:42SPEAKER_00: Why someone might be prioritizing their career so much, seemingly over other important things, or why someone else is prioritizing family life at the expense of a career, or why someone doesn't have much of an interest in
- 15:00SPEAKER_00: in a traditional career at all, or why someone else insists on being fiercely independent even if they get criticized for it, or maybe why your sister needs so much alone time and you feel like she's being a hermit and you don't like that.
- 15:14SPEAKER_00: But all of these things can come from North Node placements, and those may literally be the skills that that particular person came here to develop.
- 15:24SPEAKER_00: So just like all of your other placements, your nodal placement is going to have both a house and a sign that it's in.
- 15:34SPEAKER_00: And so with that north node, you're going to be developing both in that area of life or the house, and you're going to be developing the traits associated with that sign.
- 15:47SPEAKER_00: So let's use an example.
- 15:49SPEAKER_00: About a week ago, a friend of mine welcomed a new family member into the world.
- 15:54SPEAKER_00: A close relative of theirs had had a baby, and she asked me to take a quick look at her chart and give her her thoughts.
- 16:02SPEAKER_00: And this new little person had their south node in Libra in the eighth house, and they had their north node in Aries in their second house.
- 16:14SPEAKER_00: And that's because, of course, because the nodes are currently in Aries and Libra.
- 16:19SPEAKER_00: That's the axis they're on, by the way.
- 16:22SPEAKER_00: So the nodes stay in the same signs for about 18 months at a time.
- 16:28SPEAKER_00: I didn't mention that before.
- 16:31SPEAKER_00: So everyone born within a single 18-month period is going to have the nodes in the same signs.
- 16:38SPEAKER_00: And you'll go through a nodal return where the nodes return to the same place in the sky where they were
- 16:45SPEAKER_00: at your birth every 18 years or so.
- 16:49SPEAKER_00: But this baby had this Aries north node in the second house, a Libra south node in the eighth.
- 16:56SPEAKER_00: And what I would tend to think of with that set of placements, a possible story that I see, is that this could be someone who had a recent lifetime or recent lifetimes where they were reliant on other people
- 17:12SPEAKER_00: to make sure that their material and financial or security needs were met.
- 17:19SPEAKER_00: Maybe they were financially supported by a spouse, or maybe they had family who took care of them and gave them what they needed.
- 17:26SPEAKER_00: Maybe there was an inheritance and they didn't have to work or something.
- 17:30SPEAKER_00: Maybe they had a benefactor of some kind.
- 17:33SPEAKER_00: But their resources may have tended to come from their relationships with other people.
- 17:40SPEAKER_00: And, you know, if this person also happened to be in female bodies in the past, that would be completely logical, right?
- 17:47SPEAKER_00: Since throughout most of history, women haven't had much choice but to be reliant on others because there was very little they were allowed to do to support themselves, right?
- 17:57SPEAKER_00: They were considered, you know, the appendages of their male family members mostly.
- 18:02SPEAKER_00: So that scenario could make sense.
- 18:05SPEAKER_00: The reason why I see this is the south node being in the eighth house.
- 18:09SPEAKER_00: The south node, as I said, is what you've done in the past.
- 18:12SPEAKER_00: The eighth house is often about money and resources that you share with other people.
- 18:17SPEAKER_00: And of course, this idea can be further bolstered by the sign being Libra.
- 18:22SPEAKER_00: Libra is the sign of dealing with partnership, right?
- 18:25SPEAKER_00: So that's coming from a place of shared money based on partnerships.
- 18:32SPEAKER_00: And this is now something that this person may be trying to let go of.
- 18:37SPEAKER_00: The South Node is about letting go of a thing so you can embrace the next thing.
- 18:43SPEAKER_00: So now this person would like to have opportunities to do this part of their life differently.
- 18:51SPEAKER_00: With the north node in the second house, the opposite house of personal finances, this is the house that rules money and the income that we earn for ourselves.
- 19:02SPEAKER_00: Not that other people give us or share with us, but that we earn for a living, right?
- 19:07SPEAKER_00: So to bolster that,
- 19:10SPEAKER_00: The sign is Aries, which is very much about independence and standing on your own two feet.
- 19:16SPEAKER_00: Aries is the go-getter, the just-do-it sign.
- 19:18SPEAKER_00: It's also the sign that signals a new beginning.
- 19:22SPEAKER_00: So this person is moving away from the idea of having to rely on other people for security, eighth house theme,
- 19:29SPEAKER_00: and moving toward becoming really proficient at earning their own money, and as a result, becoming really confident that they are more than capable of providing for themselves.
- 19:42SPEAKER_00: The second house is also about self-esteem, you'll remember, and ultimately,
- 19:47SPEAKER_00: The success that they have in this area is going to be about feeling competent and empowered.
- 19:55SPEAKER_00: It's good, right, to be able to rely on your people.
- 19:58SPEAKER_00: We all need that.
- 19:59SPEAKER_00: Community is important and it goes a long way.
- 20:02SPEAKER_00: And intimacy is important and it goes a long way.
- 20:05SPEAKER_00: But it's also good to know with certainty that we are capable of meeting our own needs and that no matter what happens, you'll be okay because you can handle it.
- 20:16SPEAKER_00: So let's real quick go through the houses and talk about what the different house placement means in terms of north and south node placements.
- 20:26SPEAKER_00: And then you can start thinking about your chart in particular.
- 20:29SPEAKER_00: If you have your north node in the first house and your south node in the seventh house,
- 20:35SPEAKER_00: This could mean that in the past you have possibly over-identified with your relationships at the expense of fully developing yourself and finding your own sense of fulfillment and independence.
- 20:51SPEAKER_00: And now you are moving toward developing a much healthier sense of self.
- 20:57SPEAKER_00: You want to develop your personal identity, work on your independence, understand yourself really well, know what you like, what you want, what makes you happy.
- 21:08SPEAKER_00: You want to learn how to prioritize your needs and goals so that they don't keep getting lost or sacrificed like they did before.
- 21:17SPEAKER_00: And possibly you
- 21:19SPEAKER_00: You even want to learn how to take on positions of leadership.
- 21:23SPEAKER_00: With the north node in the second house and the south node in the eighth, well, this is much like the example I just talked about a couple minutes ago.
- 21:32SPEAKER_00: It's about learning to become resourceful and create some real security for yourself.
- 21:37SPEAKER_00: You want to feel empowered and competent in your ability to move through the world and make things happen.
- 21:44SPEAKER_00: That can include developing a healthy relationship with money or confidence around money.
- 21:50SPEAKER_00: As I mentioned before, you may have been reliant on others for your security in the past.
- 21:57SPEAKER_00: Or, to take this a different way, you may have had a hard time embracing change before because the 8th house is also the house of transformation.
- 22:06SPEAKER_00: But again, that would be all about developing that sense of being able to move through the world with confidence and with the belief that you can handle what comes up.
- 22:19SPEAKER_00: Change is okay because you can handle what comes up and find a sense of security no matter what.
- 22:25SPEAKER_00: If you have the North Node in the 3rd house and the South Node in the 9th,
- 22:32SPEAKER_00: You may have in the past been a very philosophical person or someone who was very adventurous and who sought out a lot of different and unique experiences.
- 22:43SPEAKER_00: You may have become someone, though, who was over-identified with their beliefs or with certain belief systems and
- 22:53SPEAKER_00: And that could have over time started to narrow your viewpoint a bit.
- 22:57SPEAKER_00: So now you may be taking a closer look at your thinking and spending time developing new thought patterns.
- 23:06SPEAKER_00: The third house is about thinking and communication.
- 23:09SPEAKER_00: So developing your learning skills, maybe from a more bookish perspective, maybe
- 23:15SPEAKER_00: Gathering new information, gathering new facts could be a theme.
- 23:20SPEAKER_00: You may be working on your communication skills so that you are able to share your ideas more effectively and possibly with less zeal than in prior lifetimes.
- 23:32SPEAKER_00: And possibly there are more specific things you also want to be honing in on too, like
- 23:38SPEAKER_00: teaching or writing or public speaking as examples.
- 23:43SPEAKER_00: The third house can also be about your immediate environment, like your siblings and neighbors or your immediate community.
- 23:52SPEAKER_00: So you could also be foregoing some of your former worldliness and that big
- 23:59SPEAKER_00: broad view of life where you had this big bird's eye view in order to hone in and focus on your own community more.
- 24:07SPEAKER_00: Like maybe you used to be a citizen of the world, but you didn't pay that much attention to your community or appreciate it enough or something like that.
- 24:16SPEAKER_00: And so now you want to see what that other piece of the puzzle is like.
- 24:22SPEAKER_00: If you have your North Node in the 4th house and your South Node is in the 10th,
- 24:28SPEAKER_00: This one is pretty easy and straightforward.
- 24:30SPEAKER_00: This indicates that you've done a lot of career lives.
- 24:35SPEAKER_00: You were very focused on your life's work before and probably often very successful at it.
- 24:41SPEAKER_00: But that may have come at the expense of having the nurturing and intimate home and family life that you otherwise could have had.
- 24:51SPEAKER_00: Perhaps you weren't always available to your family physically or emotionally because you were working so much or you were so career focused.
- 24:59SPEAKER_00: And now you want to shift that and make sure that you're putting enough focus on your family life for it to flourish and eventually become a bigger source of joy for you.
- 25:10SPEAKER_00: This does not mean that you can't have a strong or interesting or successful career, by the way.
- 25:17SPEAKER_00: That does not mean that at all.
- 25:19SPEAKER_00: It might for some, some people with this placement might decide to be a stay-at-home parent, for example, if they can afford to do so.
- 25:29SPEAKER_00: But it could just as easily mean that you will have a career and it could be a really exciting one.
- 25:34SPEAKER_00: But you just don't want it to become the sole focus of your life anymore and have it eat up all of your time, focus and energy.
- 25:43SPEAKER_00: So it's about learning how to balance the two things so that both parts of your life are satisfying.
- 25:50SPEAKER_00: That's what everyone's nodal axis is about.
- 25:53SPEAKER_00: Ultimately, it's about learning how to balance two sides of an equation.
- 25:59SPEAKER_00: With your north node in the fifth house and your south node in the 11th, you have likely spent a lot of time in the past being part of
- 26:09SPEAKER_00: groups you probably had a lot of strong friendships and big social networks possibly you may have done work that was very public facing or acted on behalf of entire communities and you learn to identify and perhaps over identify with the groups you were a part of
- 26:31SPEAKER_00: like you got lost in groupthink, or you became too conformist, or you sought too much validation from other people.
- 26:42SPEAKER_00: And you may have started to lose track of some of your own self-expression as an individual.
- 26:48SPEAKER_00: So you are trying to loosen your grip on that tendency a bit more and
- 26:53SPEAKER_00: and embrace your own creativity, your own passions, your own interests and hobbies, and explore what it is that you personally can add to the world that is different than what anyone else can add to the world.
- 27:09SPEAKER_00: Children in romance also live in the fifth house, you'll remember, so you may also be learning to embrace those parts of yourself as well.
- 27:18SPEAKER_00: If you have your North Node in the 6th house, that means your South Node is in the 12th.
- 27:23SPEAKER_00: And with that placement, you were probably very spiritual before, or perhaps you were someone who had a very high degree of empathy and compassion for other people.
- 27:33SPEAKER_00: You probably still do.
- 27:35SPEAKER_00: You may have even been a healer or a spiritual or religious figure of some kind, or maybe you held a religious vocation, perhaps.
- 27:46SPEAKER_00: You were likely very reflective, maybe to the point of getting lost in some escapist tendencies.
- 27:54SPEAKER_00: There may have been a tendency to avoid reality or avoid or retreat from the difficulties of life.
- 28:02SPEAKER_00: Maybe there were things you didn't want to face.
- 28:05SPEAKER_00: And in some cases, an over-reliance on substance use could even be indicated here if that was the chosen form of escapism.
- 28:15SPEAKER_00: But whatever it was, you now want to learn to develop practical skills and
- 28:20SPEAKER_00: for getting through day to day life successfully.
- 28:23SPEAKER_00: This sixth house north node is about prioritizing daily routines, becoming very organized and service oriented, taking care of all the details day to day, prioritizing your health, and making sure that you do all the things that need to be done to take good care of your body.
- 28:45SPEAKER_00: This one is like saying, you know, escapist tendencies be gone.
- 28:50SPEAKER_00: I am now the master of my life and I can make sure it all gets done.
- 28:54SPEAKER_00: Okay, so now we're moving into the upper half of the Daedal chart wheel, which means that the rest of these are going to get flip-flopped.
- 29:03SPEAKER_00: We're going to go through all the same axes because there are six axes, but the scenarios for each one are reversed.
- 29:11SPEAKER_00: Having your North Node in the 7th house is the opposite of the person who has it in the 1st house.
- 29:17SPEAKER_00: This would mean that you've already got a lot of experience under your belt when it comes to lessons around independence and leadership.
- 29:25SPEAKER_00: You've spent a fair amount of time already developing all kinds of skills and talents, and you may have become independent now.
- 29:33SPEAKER_00: to a fault.
- 29:34SPEAKER_00: And now you're looking at how not to just be successful on your own, not just how to develop yourself, but how to be successful within the context of partnerships.
- 29:46SPEAKER_00: How can you be successful within the context of compromise and diplomacy?
- 29:52SPEAKER_00: How can you be true to yourself, but still nurture the people that are most important to you?
- 29:59SPEAKER_00: This one is about learning how to be in relationship, how to be in partnership, and preferably, preferably, how to do so while still being true to yourself.
- 30:11SPEAKER_00: You may not
- 30:12SPEAKER_00: figure out this delicate balance right away, there will be trial and error, you may find yourself going a little too far and people pleasing sometimes, or we're being more codependent than you'd like at times or placing too much emphasis on your partnerships.
- 30:28SPEAKER_00: Because again, with North nodes, we're trying to figure out how to do something new.
- 30:34SPEAKER_00: So you're trying different things,
- 30:36SPEAKER_00: figuring out, you know, is this going to work?
- 30:39SPEAKER_00: Is that going to work?
- 30:40SPEAKER_00: Do I even know what I'm doing at all?
- 30:42SPEAKER_00: And making adjustments along the way.
- 30:44SPEAKER_00: Be patient with yourself.
- 30:46SPEAKER_00: Again, your soul has an infinite amount of time to explore.
- 30:51SPEAKER_00: With your north node in the eighth house,
- 30:53SPEAKER_00: you are learning how to embrace change.
- 30:56SPEAKER_00: This is the best way I can put it, I think.
- 30:58SPEAKER_00: This is the house of transformation.
- 31:01SPEAKER_00: And with your south node in the second house, you already have a lot of experience being a really competent person who can stand on their own two feet and make a secure life for themselves.
- 31:12SPEAKER_00: But the idea of security is somewhat in opposition to change, right?
- 31:17SPEAKER_00: Security is stable.
- 31:18SPEAKER_00: Change feels unstable.
- 31:20SPEAKER_00: So this is sometimes about
- 31:23SPEAKER_00: letting go of your need for everything to feel stable and predictable and constant, and allowing life to flow the way it's going to flow.
- 31:34SPEAKER_00: Stability is always an illusion anyway, by the way.
- 31:37SPEAKER_00: Nothing in the world is actually stable.
- 31:39SPEAKER_00: And so we have to be able to adapt and know that change can happen.
- 31:44SPEAKER_00: We can lose things.
- 31:46SPEAKER_00: We can gain things.
- 31:47SPEAKER_00: The ground can shift between our feet.
- 31:49SPEAKER_00: But we're still going to be OK.
- 31:52SPEAKER_00: In the process of doing all of this, you're also going to be digging down really deep, too.
- 31:57SPEAKER_00: And so you're also going to become a more reflective person.
- 32:00SPEAKER_00: Having a North Node here, though, can also be about learning to share resources or finding new ways of sharing resources.
- 32:09SPEAKER_00: Perhaps you've, again, with the second house, made a lot of money in the past.
- 32:14SPEAKER_00: but kept it for yourself mostly.
- 32:16SPEAKER_00: And now you want to learn how to spread it around so that it can be of more benefit to more people.
- 32:21SPEAKER_00: Or maybe you want to share your knowledge around how to make money so that others can benefit from that.
- 32:27SPEAKER_00: Like, you know, hey, I made a million dollars and you can too.
- 32:31SPEAKER_00: Here's how to do it kind of thing.
- 32:33SPEAKER_00: Next, having your north node in the ninth house is about letting go of more restrictive patterns of thought.
- 32:41SPEAKER_00: Perfect.
- 32:42SPEAKER_00: Perhaps your thinking got a little too small for you before, or maybe you had a lot of bookish knowledge that you didn't know how to apply in the big wide world, or you were very focused on your local surroundings but weren't as aware of or involved in the wider world at large.
- 33:04SPEAKER_00: Maybe, for example, just an example, you were from a small town and you were all wrapped up in that life and
- 33:11SPEAKER_00: And you didn't get out too much, didn't travel hardly at all, and you didn't realize that there were completely different ways of being in the world.
- 33:19SPEAKER_00: And now you're looking to broaden your horizons.
- 33:22SPEAKER_00: You want to learn all kinds of new things, surround yourself with a variety of different types of people, explore other cultures and languages perhaps, travel more, be more adventurous, take on the world, venture outside your comfort zone, and that type of thing.
- 33:39SPEAKER_00: This is about becoming more philosophical and open-minded, ultimately.
- 33:45SPEAKER_00: If you have your North Node in the 10th house, that's the opposite of the person who has it in the 4th house.
- 33:51SPEAKER_00: You've spent more time being a family person or someone who was very attached to home and to their roots.
- 34:00SPEAKER_00: And while that's definitely not a bad thing at all...
- 34:03SPEAKER_00: You are looking for opportunities to spread your wings and see what you can accomplish in the world.
- 34:10SPEAKER_00: Your career or your life's work will likely be a very big focus for you.
- 34:17SPEAKER_00: The need to develop there is going to continually pull you in.
- 34:21SPEAKER_00: And important to note that just like I said for the fourth house person, that doesn't necessarily mean you won't have a family.
- 34:29SPEAKER_00: It's not one or the other or that you won't be good at caring for your family.
- 34:33SPEAKER_00: That's not what this means at all.
- 34:35SPEAKER_00: In fact, you're an expert in that area.
- 34:37SPEAKER_00: You're very good at taking care of home and family.
- 34:40SPEAKER_00: You know how to do that.
- 34:41SPEAKER_00: You've got that down.
- 34:43SPEAKER_00: You just want to balance the equation now.
- 34:45SPEAKER_00: This is often the placement of someone who is going to have a very successful career, by the way, and can indicate someone of prominence or who is at least prominent in their field in some way.
- 34:58SPEAKER_00: So it can be a really nice placement to have.
- 35:02SPEAKER_00: With your North Node in the 11th house, you are the opposite of a 5th house person.
- 35:08SPEAKER_00: You are very proficient at self-expression.
- 35:12SPEAKER_00: You've done that very well before.
- 35:14SPEAKER_00: It's possible, though, that you self-expressed to the point of becoming a little too, I don't know, too showy.
- 35:25SPEAKER_00: Maybe.
- 35:25SPEAKER_00: Maybe you sought the limelight a little too much or you wanted to get everyone's attention a little too much.
- 35:33SPEAKER_00: Kind of like being in the shadow side of Leo, for example.
- 35:36SPEAKER_00: Leo is the natural ruler of the fifth house.
- 35:39SPEAKER_00: So maybe there was a little too much drama or diva-like behavior even.
- 35:44SPEAKER_00: And...
- 35:46SPEAKER_00: Now you're looking to tone that down a little bit and focus on giving more of yourself to the group.
- 35:54SPEAKER_00: You want to think about the community more or your network more or your friends more.
- 36:01SPEAKER_00: It's about having shared goals and a shared vision that everyone can benefit from.
- 36:08SPEAKER_00: You kind of want to be one of the gang.
- 36:11SPEAKER_00: It's also about innovation too, though.
- 36:14SPEAKER_00: The 11th house is a place of progress and progressive thinking.
- 36:19SPEAKER_00: So with the North Node here, you may also be looking to elevate yourself and others to new heights and a new level of inventiveness.
- 36:29SPEAKER_00: Okay, so that brings us to the 12th house, the last house.
- 36:32SPEAKER_00: And the North Node here is about really leaning into your spirituality.
- 36:39SPEAKER_00: With the South Node in the Sixth House, you were probably at one time someone who became overly focused on your day-to-day life or overly focused on the work that you were doing.
- 36:52SPEAKER_00: You were probably hyper-organized and focused.
- 36:55SPEAKER_00: very efficient and competent, but that might have developed into perfectionism, or you might have become overly critical of flaws or things that didn't meet your high standards.
- 37:08SPEAKER_00: You may not have let yourself rest enough because you were so concerned about getting everything done all the time.
- 37:15SPEAKER_00: you may have been really focused on your health practices because the sixth house is about health.
- 37:21SPEAKER_00: And so you might have been really focused on doing things to stay healthy, but ended up thinking that you could control your health if you just did all the right things.
- 37:30SPEAKER_00: And so your health practices became overly rigid and inflexible.
- 37:36SPEAKER_00: So there may have been some real tunnel vision going through daily life.
- 37:42SPEAKER_00: And to remedy this,
- 37:43SPEAKER_00: with the North Node in the 12th house, you're gonna be taking time out from the pressure of work and productivity and go inward, spend more time in the reflection and getting in touch with your spiritual nature
- 38:01SPEAKER_00: So that you no longer feel the need to keep daily life under your control.
- 38:06SPEAKER_00: This can be very much about learning that your worth is not based on efficiency.
- 38:11SPEAKER_00: It's not based on productivity.
- 38:13SPEAKER_00: You're worthy because you exist and because you're an infinite, beautiful soul.
- 38:20SPEAKER_00: like everyone else.
- 38:21SPEAKER_00: This is also a placement that's very much about learning to trust.
- 38:25SPEAKER_00: There's such a trust theme here.
- 38:28SPEAKER_00: It's letting go of the need to control the outcomes in your life and trusting that the universe has your back and that there is divine timing to things and that you are always exactly where you need to be.
- 38:42SPEAKER_00: Okay, so the last thing I want to talk about is the signs.
- 38:46SPEAKER_00: Your nodes are also in particular signs, and I won't go through them all, but I will just say that the sign your north node is in represents the way in which you will be exploring your north node.
- 39:01SPEAKER_00: It's how you're going to go about reaching those new goals.
- 39:05SPEAKER_00: So, for example, if you have, say, your North Node in the 12th house and it's in the sign Virgo, then with that 12th house placement, you're going to learn to lean into your spirituality more and more throughout your life.
- 39:22SPEAKER_00: But how are you going to make that transition happen?
- 39:26SPEAKER_00: With Virgo there, that would probably look like bringing some level of routine or ritual into your spiritual practices.
- 39:35SPEAKER_00: And I know that sounds strange because I just talked about the 12th house north node being all about letting go of some of those daily routines.
- 39:43SPEAKER_00: But in this case, someone would be learning how to add more spirituality into their life by making it a regular part of their day because that's what Virgo does.
- 39:53SPEAKER_00: Virgo is actually the natural ruler of the sixth house.
- 39:56SPEAKER_00: Like they might wake up in the morning and do a meditation for five minutes every day when they first wake up.
- 40:03SPEAKER_00: And then they go and get themselves some breakfast.
- 40:05SPEAKER_00: They get dressed.
- 40:06SPEAKER_00: And then they go do 45 minutes of yoga before they go to work.
- 40:11SPEAKER_00: Or they do Tai Chi every day at the same time or something like that.
- 40:15SPEAKER_00: This is about using that organized, routine-oriented Virgo archetype to add more spirituality into their life.
- 40:24SPEAKER_00: Virgo is also about service, so it could also show up as finding ways to use your spiritual path as a way to be of service to other people or bring compassion to other people.
- 40:38SPEAKER_00: So I suggest that you think about the house placement of your nodes first, and then look at the signs that they're in, particularly the sign of your north node, and think about that sign as an archetype and all the traits that it has associated with it.
- 40:55SPEAKER_00: And imagine those characteristics as being the key to how you can effectively move in the direction of your north node.
- 41:04SPEAKER_00: Does that make sense?
- 41:05SPEAKER_00: I hope it does.
- 41:06SPEAKER_00: Let me know if it doesn't or if you have questions about any of that.
- 41:11SPEAKER_00: Okay, it's time to wrap this up for today.
- 41:14SPEAKER_00: If you have a few extra seconds, I'd love it if you could rate or review this podcast.
- 41:19SPEAKER_00: That will really help the show and make sure that more people can find it.
- 41:22SPEAKER_00: I also encourage you to subscribe through whatever app you like to listen on.
- 41:27SPEAKER_00: That will ensure that you never miss an episode.
- 41:31SPEAKER_00: That's all for today, everyone.
- 41:32SPEAKER_00: Thank you so much for being here, and I will see you next time.
- 41:36SPEAKER_00: Have a good week.
