- 0:47Thank you. Now here are the hosts of the
- 0:50United We Scan podcast. Welcome back everybody episode
- 0:54110 I am back this week yes, I am feeling better and yeah so
- 1:00we're going to go over mini mail survey stuff tonight so if
- 1:04there's. A hold on, Hold on.
- 1:06Yeah. What's the title?
- 1:07What's the title? Oh, that one says go birds, but
- 1:12we're. Yes, thank you.
- 1:14Thank you very much. The episode for the listeners is
- 1:18a mini mail survey. Yeah, sorry, Bill.
- 1:23And yes, we're recording on Saturday instead of Sunday
- 1:25because Bill will be glued to the TV for the Super Bowl
- 1:28tomorrow night. And I want to thank you for
- 1:32everybody's difference of scheduling here.
- 1:36I greatly appreciate it. For bowl tomorrow, even our
- 1:40audience members that listen to us live.
- 1:42So it's important for us to, you know, make sessions for things
- 1:46like that so people can go and enjoy that instead of listening
- 1:49to us talk all, all night. As a fine Fender and these
- 1:55things, you'll have to. Explain.
- 2:09Yeah, we know he's a cheese head.
- 2:13That's OK. We respect that he supports his
- 2:16team. I've been to Lambeau.
- 2:19It's nice mistake. I like how the neighbors let you
- 2:24park on their lawn for $50. Right.
- 2:28Yeah. All right, James, how was your
- 2:31week? It was standard week, had a
- 2:37couple box holders this week, so that's going to help with my
- 2:40evaluation a little bit since package volume is down.
- 2:44I think Monday and Tuesday I had over 100 packages, which I know
- 2:49a lot of routes get more than that, but my route is measured
- 2:52at 80 parcels. So being over that was good.
- 2:56The rest of the week I was under that.
- 2:58So having the two box holders did help with coverage factor
- 3:02and my total volume on the route, number of box that I make
- 3:07and mail volume, so on and so forth.
- 3:09So I think it was pretty good week other than ice and snow.
- 3:14One of my streets is no longer getting delivery.
- 3:17Currently they're on old for the weather.
- 3:21They get this once in a great while when their St. becomes
- 3:24completely ice covered and the LLV can't make it up there.
- 3:28So it's it's standard practice on this route for the road not
- 3:32to be delivered if it's ice covered to the point where the
- 3:34LOV can't get up it. But other than that, pretty
- 3:38normal week for me. How was your week, Bill?
- 3:42Oh, mine was pretty good. Yeah.
- 3:44Your your state doesn't allow change, does it?
- 3:47No, no. OK, it's my my week was good.
- 3:55Had some interactions with our office again, we're having a lot
- 4:00of carriers being forced to help on vacant routes and the local
- 4:07steward is oblivious to the situation, doesn't want to be
- 4:11involved. Whereas I would pay attention to
- 4:14what's going on in the entire floor, this one just hides in
- 4:17their case so they don't have to get involved.
- 4:20And we, we have the mention of the MOU not being extended,
- 4:26which we can discuss later on. But folks, let me tell you that
- 4:33is going to be a shitstorm for all.
- 4:37My biggest concern in, in regards to this whole thing is
- 4:42in regards to the MOU expiring on the 22nd, I believe, and
- 4:48what's you know, what, what the immediate future is going to
- 4:52foretell in regards to carriers being forced as in my office is.
- 4:57So other than that, I mean, you know, we're going to look for
- 5:01another house tomorrow and the Eagles are playing in the Super
- 5:05Bowl tomorrow and I'm just so excited.
- 5:08I'm, I'm all hyped up. I really am.
- 5:10I mean, I, I in 2018, we won the Super Bowl and it's, you know, I
- 5:17said, you know, I can die now because I've seen the Eagles win
- 5:19the Super Bowl. And my wife came downstairs and
- 5:23I'm sitting there crying, drinking my Crown Royal Limited.
- 5:26And she's like, are you crying? She doesn't understand sports.
- 5:30And she's, she's been disavowed of the Eagles since 2004 and the
- 5:35Philadelphia Phillies since 93. So yeah, yeah.
- 5:40I I, I grew up a hardcore Seagull fan and I'm so looking
- 5:46forward tomorrow. So are we going to get Malkov?
- 5:49No, Malkov is not going to speak on here.
- 5:51So Kristen, how was your week? Because we know you were a
- 5:55little bit under the weather the start.
- 5:57Yeah, Saturday and Sunday were rough for me.
- 6:00I pretty much slept all day, every day.
- 6:04That was about it. It really wasn't.
- 6:07Had a headache, maybe a little bit of a fever but I pretty much
- 6:10just slept so went back to you know.
- 6:13Went to work Monday and toughed it out.
- 6:15It was a rough start to Monday but Oh well it is what it is.
- 6:20Late week for the most part this week I had one WFS but other
- 6:25than that it's been a fairly light week.
- 6:28And I had work today but I was done by in home by 2:30 as the
- 6:34snow was just starting, so thankfully I got home before the
- 6:38weather got too bad. It's funny you say you had a
- 6:43light day because my carrier yesterday, I saw him, he says,
- 6:47Oh my God, he says I have, I have 120 packages today.
- 6:53His body is still next to the cluster box unit out front.
- 6:56You know, 120. I'm like, Oh my God, that would
- 7:02be like a holiday to me, you know, to have 120 packages.
- 7:07Yeah, I I was. Monday was think I had 186 scans
- 7:15Monday but 22 of those were certified as you know people
- 7:20don't want to pay their property taxes and title checks went out
- 7:25and. You get those for the snowbirds
- 7:27too. Only if they don't pay their
- 7:32property taxes. OK.
- 7:36Most of my snowbirds though, I don't think I've ever actually
- 7:38had one for one of my snowbirds. So they're usually pretty good
- 7:43about paying their stuff. But other than that, the rest of
- 7:48the week, except for Friday. Friday was 107 scans and the
- 7:53rest of the week. So Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday,
- 7:55and today I averaged between 62 and 77 scans.
- 8:00That's how light it was. My God, I know Jesus.
- 8:04I need that, you know, if I have less than 100 or, you know, 100
- 8:07or less, I'm like, it's fairly light for me, but yeah.
- 8:14I like seeing in the platforms there that people are
- 8:18commenting, seeing the UPS packages with the USPS barcode
- 8:23on there asking Leo why are they delivering our packages.
- 8:26No folks, they put both barcodes on there just in case they have
- 8:31to hand them off so that putting our barcode on there is not an
- 8:35afterthought. It's done when they print the
- 8:39entire label, it's just they decided not to hand them off to
- 8:44us, that's all. Still their package.
- 8:48Yep. Melco, do you have anything to
- 8:52add before we begin today? Not really.
- 8:56It was a really light week for me too.
- 8:58I think I actually had under 100 packages today, which was
- 9:03surprising. If you take the rubber bands off
- 9:07the those two little things downstairs, your voice will go
- 9:10up. 6 Thank you. Chris and James piss themselves.
- 9:33I need a drink. Here you go.
- 9:37Me too, please. Oh my, Oh my.
- 9:44So yeah. Oh man.
- 9:53Can't take you? Anywhere.
- 9:54Bill can't take you anywhere. Well, now you need to take me
- 9:58everywhere so that everybody understands the life is real and
- 10:02I come at you. Anyway, moving on to this week's
- 10:13topic. No, you had something you said
- 10:22you wanted to discuss. Yes, yes, this is.
- 10:26This is a ethical dilemma for you, everybody to consider, OK?
- 10:33This is not just, you know, for myself, this is for everybody
- 10:37listening and and the host. And this walks what I'll say is
- 10:44a fine line in in ethics in regards to your responsibilities
- 10:48as a steward, as your responsibilities of a union
- 10:54member, OK, on a minor part as a carrier, OK, in a certain
- 11:03certain office OK, my office as an example, you know, there's 18
- 11:07full rule carriers OK routes. The the situation is, is based
- 11:14on the fact that and they had two vacant routes today and one
- 11:19route is a consistent call out on Saturdays.
- 11:23Now they don't have Saturday drop days but more than
- 11:27infrequently they call out on Saturdays.
- 11:31They will often use the excuse of nobody watching their child.
- 11:39Individual is involved and lives with a partner in which they
- 11:48have this child but because of certain allowances OK and I'll
- 12:03I'll put it along the lines of trying to be delicate.
- 12:07Oh he's black that's not delicate enough.
- 12:14It never gets called up for Ionis for attendance.
- 12:19Now as a steward, if I was still a steward in the office and I
- 12:24had somebody else called up on an INIPDI, whatever you want to
- 12:28call in regards to attendance, then I would feel compelled to
- 12:34bring up this individual's history and not being, you know,
- 12:41called up on INISPDIS, whatever, while you're calling this
- 12:45individual up for a PDIINI the first time in six months.
- 12:52Now the the problem is we also had a young lady in the same
- 13:01office, our office that was consistently getting one to two
- 13:09days a week off for for various reasons.
- 13:15And one time she actually flipped out during an APDI and
- 13:20I'll call them Pdis because that's what I'm more comfortable
- 13:22you saying they're Pdis. But you know, she would call on
- 13:25the PDI and she flipped out on the supervisor.
- 13:31Now the problem of it was that this went on for four months
- 13:34prior to the PDI. They called her up on it.
- 13:38She flipped out out. And there's a mitigating
- 13:41circumstances with her being oh God, we'll see.
- 13:49She was married, had a child, divorced, remarried, had another
- 13:55child, and was taking care of her mother.
- 13:59Now when it came to my attention that she was having attendance
- 14:03problems, I went to her privately as a concerned
- 14:07carrier, OK, because I like her and told her that she needs to
- 14:11file for FMLA to protect herself.
- 14:14She didn't do she had APDI. Again, I brought up the FMLA and
- 14:23the supervisor agreed that that would be their best Ave. of
- 14:26protection. He didn't do it.
- 14:30Nothing ever became of her Pdis as with this other individual.
- 14:36Nothing has become of him ever having APDI.
- 14:41Yet you have a another carrier once in six months and they and
- 14:46they pull them up with an attendance review.
- 14:52Now the ethical thing to me is do I bring up the fact that two
- 15:01individuals you haven't prosecuted in regards to the
- 15:05Edis and the follow through discipline are of non Caucasian
- 15:15backgrounds. The one you're pulling up on the
- 15:19ini for once in six months is Caucasian.
- 15:23I find myself torn on this because of the fact that you are
- 15:28yes, this disparity treatment because of race.
- 15:34And yet I the one individual I tried to help, the supervisor
- 15:38tried to help, and yet you're going after this individual for
- 15:41missing one day in six months. How do you justify disciplinary
- 15:54procedures for management versus what I would say is obvious
- 16:00racism and trust me, be as racist as the next person.
- 16:11But then again, if you were to insult Roy Kelly, who's a
- 16:17personal friend of mine, find out that I would lay your ass
- 16:22out or somebody you didn't know was a black man because I never
- 16:27talked about Roy Kelly being a black man.
- 16:30That's how I view people life in general.
- 16:35I don't define you by your color, less you do.
- 16:42So I'm looking for input from everybody, anybody even in the
- 16:45chat group in regards to how do you handle this situation
- 16:49because of the fact that it just can't go on anymore.
- 16:55Years ago, we had a guy who was a preferential carrier.
- 17:02He had every supervisor, postmaster's ass in his hands.
- 17:07His truck broke down so they gave him an LLV.
- 17:11He didn't like an LLV so he took the LLV off of RD16 because she
- 17:16was out for a rotator cuff surgery.
- 17:20When she came back the LLV got reverted back to his route and
- 17:25he turned around and pushed it over to a route where a sub had
- 17:31a hold down with an FFV. This went on for almost 8
- 17:38months. Again, preferential treatment
- 17:46based on race and I don't like using that work or for that, but
- 17:57I mean folks, you can't be any more obvious than what it was.
- 18:02So help me understand there were Eric give me your reasoning in
- 18:07regards to how they handle this ethically.
- 18:11That's a tough one because. People in the I said like people
- 18:15in the chat said disparity treatment.
- 18:19I would also have the carrier file and EEO for them.
- 18:27But the problem with the EEO, as in many offices, and you all
- 18:31know this, OK, people don't want to push back against the system
- 18:37in in case there is retribution coming down the line.
- 18:42And in the fact of the matter, even though they had me as a
- 18:45steward in office and I stood up to Jesus Christ to fight for
- 18:49them, they still worried about retribution.
- 18:54The same way a new sub worries about filing a grievous within
- 18:5790 days. The same way they're pulling
- 19:01Subs off of Phoenixville and the FD and C and making them work in
- 19:04Westchester with no training whatsoever as they're afraid of
- 19:10filing a grievance within 90 days.
- 19:12Same way our local steward keeps his head buried in his case
- 19:15because if he says he doesn't know anything about it, then he
- 19:18doesn't have to prosecute that grievance.
- 19:21I mean the ethics department, The post office?
- 19:24Give me a fucking break. Yeah, I think they have.
- 19:28Is to push, push, push and push and push until either you cave
- 19:35or you quit. Of course, out of the the three
- 19:40of us here, I'm not sure about Malco.
- 19:42We would never cave and we would never quit.
- 19:47We'd punch them right in the fucking mouth and leave that in.
- 19:51Don't cut that. Right, just shot they, they do
- 19:59have to grow up here. Please leave your thought.
- 20:02I mean, you know this, this is as troublesome to me as carriers
- 20:07who sit there and say, oh, I'm just a carrier.
- 20:10I can't do anything. That's what they depend on.
- 20:16They count on the fact that you feel the hopelessness of the
- 20:19situation and that it won't go anywhere.
- 20:25That's why we're losing the battle.
- 20:27That's why our national board doesn't fight for you, because
- 20:31you don't demand that of them. I mean, you can't tell me they
- 20:36don't know about all this. We have a local meeting on
- 20:41Wednesday afternoon here for my local.
- 20:45They're bringing over an NSS employee from New Jersey because
- 20:50they have nobody in the in this area.
- 20:53Why? Because our Dr. is out of New
- 20:55York. Our ADR was just removed.
- 21:01The other ADR has previous engagements.
- 21:05Can you tell me you you don't have a local steward or an area
- 21:09steward that could come to our meeting?
- 21:12You don't have to say anything, you just have to attend.
- 21:16But we're going to pay an ADR to come out of New Jersey all the
- 21:21way over into Pennsylvania and maybe even stay overnight just
- 21:26to attend a local meeting. ORNRO coming up here.
- 21:30I don't think so NR OS don't go to local meetings sits next to
- 21:37their house. Go ahead.
- 21:40I mean, you know, I'm, I appreciate everybody listening
- 21:43to me, but this is the type of situation that really goes to
- 21:50the, the, the basis of the problems in our union in regards
- 21:55to disparity of treatment in the fact that, you know, management,
- 21:59you know, violates the contract in the, in the way that we treat
- 22:03each other. And you know, never mind that
- 22:07the fact you call out all the time for whatever reason, OK,
- 22:13had a situation where she had a employee where she addressed it
- 22:17on this past Monday about her attendance if her six months.
- 22:23And the lady said I'll, I won't make any big problems, no
- 22:28excuses for the next six months. Thursday my wife let her go
- 22:33because at 10:30 in the morning she's calling up with excuses.
- 22:38Now does that help my wife out? No.
- 22:41She's already 3 employees short. This lady was a good worker when
- 22:45she attended, but the problem of it is that if you let her stay,
- 22:50everybody else sees what she can get away with.
- 22:52Just like in the post office. If you let these carriers get
- 22:55away with it, OK, they're going to try it.
- 23:00That's why this guy calls out Saturdays because he knows he
- 23:03won't be called up on it because of his race.
- 23:08Same way the woman who hasn't filed for the FMLA as
- 23:12recommended by the steward, me and by the supervisor has not
- 23:16been disciplined because of race.
- 23:21There is no race in the post office.
- 23:23You're blue or you're not. I'm such a, I'm such an ass all.
- 23:28Right. See your wheels running in your
- 23:30head, Kristen? Well, we don't have the racism
- 23:34issue in my office per SE, but we have a a sexism issue, gender
- 23:41issue. It's same thing though, it's
- 23:44just a different category, yeah. Yeah, it, it is.
- 23:47I mean, if you have genitalia between your legs that makes you
- 23:53male, you get treated completely different than the females in
- 23:57the office. And it's been that way since
- 24:00we've had our current management regimen.
- 24:04And that includes prior to the, that includes the former
- 24:09supervisor who's now the postmaster.
- 24:12It goes back there that far to when the postmaster was a
- 24:16supervisor. But no, no, I, I see it and it
- 24:21is the same thing. And you know when you let them
- 24:25and that, and that's the other thing too, and I see it quite a
- 24:27bit, is when you let them walk all over you and let them
- 24:32control you and you don't do anything to stand up for
- 24:37yourself. There's nothing, you know that
- 24:44things can be done. I mean, if you're not willing to
- 24:46stand up for yourself, how can a local steward at that point then
- 24:53assist you with remedying the issue if you're not willing to
- 24:58step up and say hey? They don't make the paper trail,
- 25:07then nothing can get fixed. I know you said BEOS aren't
- 25:12worth that, but it puts it on paper.
- 25:17You know, and it's one of those things that, like somebody said
- 25:22in our chat, it's a cancer. And when you let one person get
- 25:28away with this stuff, you eventually spread it to another
- 25:32person. It's a plague.
- 25:34It's a disease, just like hostile management, just like
- 25:41carriers who are scared to file grievances because they see
- 25:45somebody get beaten up by management with retaliation over
- 25:49grievances. The problem is, is we have a
- 25:55system in place that is supposed to protect the carriers, is
- 26:00supposed to stand up for the carrier, supposed to protect
- 26:04them from management and protect them from disparate treatment,
- 26:09which is the case here. We have laws on the books
- 26:14against reading people over race, sex, read all that stuff.
- 26:22And yet we have management violating that very law.
- 26:28And we have management who, if you file for them doing that,
- 26:33will retaliate against you or IT.
- 26:36And it's one of those things that as a board nationally, we
- 26:43should be going after hostile management because everybody
- 26:49deserves to be treated exactly the same with dignity, fairness
- 26:54and respect. And when you?
- 26:56Like them or not, whether you like them or not, James, whether
- 26:59you. Like them or not, you have to
- 27:00treat them with dignity, fairness, and respect.
- 27:03Because I don't care if you like me or hate me or whatever, I'm
- 27:08going to treat you with dignity, fairness, and respect.
- 27:12May I turn around and call people out for things?
- 27:14Yes, just like people call me out for things.
- 27:17I have absolutely no problem for it.
- 27:20And when they turn around and turn one of my corrections, or
- 27:24lack thereof as they call it, it's damned if you do, damned if
- 27:29you don't. Because if you do make it, then
- 27:32they say, oh, he's making corrections, so he's trying to
- 27:34hide it and stuff like that. It's the same with management.
- 27:38They're going to try and hide and bury what they're doing in
- 27:42some other legal ease, but they can find within the contract and
- 27:47confines of all our MO use manuals and especially the
- 27:50Arcam. And so we have to protect
- 27:54ourselves as carriers. Carriers need to protect
- 27:58themselves because the only person you can rely on to
- 28:02protect yourself is yourself. And if you can bury management
- 28:07and paperwork while doing it, that's the best way to do it.
- 28:11Because the only way you're going to get management to
- 28:14change their ways is when it starts actually costing them,
- 28:18when it starts causing problems, when their management starts
- 28:22coming down on them. Why are you having so many
- 28:25grievances? Maybe we need to move you.
- 28:28You know, that's an expense for some postmasters, especially if
- 28:31the office they're in is close to where they live.
- 28:33And then they have to move them to an office that is not close
- 28:36to where they live. That's a punishment for
- 28:40management, but getting the James that punishment is the
- 28:44hardest part. James, I mean your Westchester
- 28:49settled $400,000 grievances for the city carriers.
- 28:55Chicago settled over $1,000,000 of grievances for city carriers.
- 29:02It's almost like they don't give a shit so why should I?
- 29:07And that is, that is something that definitely our national
- 29:11boards for the city carriers and the rural carriers and the mail
- 29:16handlers and the APWU all need to sit down with national
- 29:21management and say, hey, look, you want to get rid of your
- 29:24negatives, especially on your budget.
- 29:27Here's your first clue to fixing that problem.
- 29:31Now, I do recall the joy saying that he wants to get respect for
- 29:36the carriers in the Postal Service again.
- 29:39It was a way back in one of his interviews.
- 29:41But he said he wants to get the respect back to the kid letter
- 29:45carriers. And we need to hold him to that.
- 29:49And we need to get him and everybody below him, especially
- 29:53Doug Tulino, the deputy postmaster general, and
- 29:56everybody else, finally realized that the only people that
- 30:01actually make this industry money are the clerks, the city
- 30:06carriers and the rural carriers and your your contractors, the
- 30:10people who actually pick up and deliver the products that we
- 30:16sell and transport. The mail handlers help us move
- 30:20the product without those crafts and janitors cleaning the office
- 30:26is keeping them from being OSHA hazards.
- 30:31The people at the bottom are the only reason the Postal Service
- 30:34exists. But treating them with dignity,
- 30:37fairness and respect is the first step.
- 30:41Just a step. And and then I I'd like to
- 30:45respond to that follow up in, in regards to people responsible
- 30:50for profits, OK, we are the bottom of the ladder.
- 30:55We are the ones who deliver the product.
- 30:57We are the ones who have the interaction with the customers
- 30:59and everything. The people who are on social
- 31:05media sitting there saying that we had $107 billion bailout
- 31:11because they rescinded pre funding of carriers, healthcare
- 31:17and retirement benefits at 75 years into the future.
- 31:20That is not a bailout you dumbass.
- 31:24It was a writing of a wrong where Congress was trying to
- 31:30steal from the post office. But the fact of the matter is
- 31:33we're still losing money. Let me tell you something,
- 31:36folks, we could make money in 30 days with little effort.
- 31:42OK, first of all, let's get rid of the SD and CS that aren't
- 31:46working. Personal experience from
- 31:48Westchester, SD and C and the fact that you're trying to turn
- 31:52around and take three other offices to put it in our former
- 31:55location. Guys are idiots.
- 31:59If you're on a permanent forward, it's $20.
- 32:03If you're on a temporary forward, it's $10.
- 32:06If you're on a hold, it's dollars.
- 32:10If you're getting 20 boxes for free, it's no longer free.
- 32:16It's $2.00 a box. You can go to the post office by
- 32:19the same damn box, a single box for $6, but yet I'll send you 25
- 32:25for free. House Stupid.
- 32:28Can you be? You could turn this entire
- 32:33organization around in 30 days, and one of the first things I
- 32:39would do was turn around and fire Ron Harrison as the
- 32:44district manager in our STC because nobody likes going to
- 32:49force labor work camps that he has turned that SD and C into.
- 32:55Yeah, 75% of management. You probably could cut 75% out
- 33:00and not miss a blink. You can't process the mail quick
- 33:07enough. I can get you more clerks.
- 33:10I can get you more mail handlers.
- 33:12We can get the parcels up. My current office cannot get
- 33:15their parcels before 10:00 AM because they're busy running
- 33:21everybody else's. Yet my office, Westchester
- 33:27AKADSDNC, has the furthest to go to deliver your mail.
- 33:34How the hell does that make sense?
- 33:38Abacus. You know, trigonometry,
- 33:41calculator. I don't care what you use.
- 33:43How the fuck does that make sense?
- 33:48I don't know. Yeah.
- 33:49Yeah. There's simple questions.
- 33:50They they require simple answers, but nobody has them.
- 33:56I tried to get an answer in Grand Rapids on on the SND CS
- 33:59and why they're paying more money to do to run all these
- 34:02postal vehicles out to these offices and delivery routes.
- 34:06Then it would have cost to send a single truck to several
- 34:09offices every day. But he wouldn't answer it.
- 34:13So anyway, moving to our actual topic of the week, the mini mail
- 34:21survey actually starts today, the day we're recording this,
- 34:25which is the 8th of February 2025.
- 34:29And it starts with the measuring of your route, the distances in
- 34:33your office, right, Kristen? All right, so not as to confuse
- 34:38people by saying it starts today, the actual mini mail
- 34:43survey, I am going to go over the important dates first.
- 34:48Yes, please. The important date, so between
- 34:5228 and 314, is where the delivery units enter office walk
- 34:59route settings and daily volume data into the RMSS system web
- 35:06application. On February 22nd the 12 day mini
- 35:12mail survey of stated items begins on all roll routes.
- 35:20The 22nd through March 7th is the data entry must be made
- 35:24daily by close of business day for all routes on March 7th DPM
- 35:32and LTM mapping deadline date. No mapping changes will be
- 35:35reflected past this date in evaluation 5 S all your mapping
- 35:42your February mapping. I just put it that way with all
- 35:45your edits, your edit book, your February mapping needs to be
- 35:49completed no later than 37 for it to count towards the
- 35:54evaluation that comes out of this mini mail survey. 314.
- 35:59All mini mail survey entries to be include to include walk,
- 36:03office, walk distance, route settings.
- 36:05Daily volume must be finalized by 1700 Central time.
- 36:10No additional changes will be accepted past that date. 329 is
- 36:17when the 4241 A's and M's will be available, and the new
- 36:22evaluations will be effective as a 4-5.
- 36:30So those are the dates. I just wanted to add with three,
- 36:38the actual main mail survey as Kristen stated, they're supposed
- 36:44to enter your entries every day. They're supposed to give you
- 36:48your slip back by end of day or first thing the next morning
- 36:54with that phase numbers so you can verify and try and you can
- 37:00get it corrected. So yes, then the mini mail
- 37:06survey will be conducted for 12 working days beginning Saturday,
- 37:11February 22nd and ending on Friday, March 7th.
- 37:17You're supposed to get a stand up talk prior given prior to the
- 37:20mail survey. All routes are included in the
- 37:24mini mail survey. Even those routes that have been
- 37:26cut and are affected to be on that one year stay, you're still
- 37:31going to participate in the mini mail survey.
- 37:35There's a reason why, and the reason why is so That way it
- 37:40never gets forgotten once the 52 weeks are up.
- 37:45EAS employees will conduct the mini mail survey.
- 37:48So that is management, they are the ones conducting the mini
- 37:52mail survey. There is 12 Rex office walk
- 37:57distances that will be measured a round trip jointly by manager
- 38:00and the assigned carrier. Data will be entered daily and
- 38:06in a timely manner no no later than close of business day of
- 38:10the current business day. The only the following items
- 38:16will be measured and or counted and entered into RMSS, random
- 38:22letters, random flats, office walk distances and any
- 38:27miscellaneous office activity. PARS labels are no longer
- 38:34included in the mini mail survey.
- 38:36Those under that MOU that came out at the end of January are
- 38:41now going to be on the 52 week, which is what it was actually
- 38:46intended to be to begin with. And then the technology wasn't
- 38:50supposedly there and so then it was counted during mini mail
- 38:53survey and now supposedly the technology is there.
- 38:58So now it's going to be auto counted over the 52 weeks, which
- 39:03for some of you that have routes like mine is a good thing
- 39:07because during the mini mail surveys I don't get hardly any
- 39:11cars labels at all because that's in between my people
- 39:15coming and going. Yeah, it's it's it's amazing
- 39:20that our mini mail surveys always seem to end up in between
- 39:23the snowbirds. So did mail counts?
- 39:28Yeah. So hopefully, hopefully the
- 39:34system works right in counting these pars labels for us because
- 39:37I did, like I said in a previous episode, I did ask the question
- 39:41on what pars labels were accepted and they said all of
- 39:44them. So that would include the ad
- 39:46Modifies and deletes are supposedly counted by this, but
- 39:50keep track of them yourself. I know we're behind the 8 ball
- 39:53because they didn't tell us this 52 weeks back.
- 39:55So we could keep track for 52 weeks, but we start now.
- 40:00All right, I'm going to. I did have a special request
- 40:02just for about miscellaneous activity, so I'm going to go
- 40:06over the miscellaneous activity real quick.
- 40:09This is off of the worksheet that you can get on the website.
- 40:15Required Activity Required customer communications time if
- 40:20required by management to answer customer questions across the
- 40:24counter or over the phone. If such duties occur daily or
- 40:28weekly, that is what would be be counted for miscellaneous as
- 40:33well as electronic parcel lockers.
- 40:37So those that have Amazon lockers on your route and
- 40:41anything that's electronic locker wise record actual time
- 40:46Use daily to service the electronic parcel lockers.
- 40:51Actual time begins once all parcels are located at the EPL
- 40:56and carrier signs in on the keypad and continues until the
- 41:01carrier signs out on the keypad. If the carrier is required to
- 41:06wait to gain access to the keypad, that time is also
- 41:10recorded as actual time. Reloading satchel.
- 41:15Actual time to reload a satchel if required for multiple
- 41:18dismount deliveries. Non Personnel Unit time Non
- 41:25Personal Non personnel units are small non staff stations or
- 41:30branches that are serviced by a rural carrier in a location
- 41:35typically provided by a contractor.
- 41:37A non personnel unit provides essential mail services on a
- 41:41self-service basis, such as the collection and delivery of mail
- 41:46and the sale of stamps. Rural carriers are required to
- 41:51remain at MPU for a minimum of 15 minutes each day.
- 41:58Extra time dismount. Additional time associated with
- 42:02accessing delivery point at an authorized dismount such as a
- 42:06key keeper, security guard, gate check in, or access code entry.
- 42:12So this would be and that would include this one was
- 42:15specifically mentioned was the hockey puck locks which I have.
- 42:20I personally have never seen but some offices have them that you
- 42:25have to unlock those first and then use your arrow key.
- 42:29I know I have ran a route in the past where I had unlock a little
- 42:33key keeper with the arrow key to then unlock the door to give me
- 42:37access to the units inside. So that additional thing that
- 42:42you would be doing that you have to unlock prior to getting entry
- 42:46would be included under miscellaneous time.
- 42:51And then anything that is approved by district outside of
- 42:55that or an explanation must be entered that you would keep
- 42:59track of time on. I know we had one, We had a
- 43:02hardship at the time that had they kept the gate at the end of
- 43:07their driveway closed to keep the bears out.
- 43:11District did approve that to to have that time counted that
- 43:16you'd have to go to open the gate and close the gate to gain
- 43:19entry. I I had a carrier.
- 43:22Cost service, I say. Other things would be if you go
- 43:27to a business and have to bring a doorbell and wait for them to
- 43:30answer. That's like a school.
- 43:36Yes, schools too. You know you have to budget
- 43:39gift. Yeah, that falls in under the
- 43:41extra time under dismount. Yeah, and I do want to bring.
- 43:48Up. Yeah, that would also be under
- 43:51the additional, the extra time under dismount.
- 43:55Under dismount, yes, it's good, I do.
- 43:59If you deliver to apartments 30 stories up, you don't get that
- 44:03time except for the linear travel on the stairwell.
- 44:11How to fuck do you actually justify that?
- 44:17I know. I mean, it's like you.
- 44:22Having carried a route for 20 years, Kristen.
- 44:26I. Don't know that's why they
- 44:28haven't. I'm sorry.
- 44:30I I. Have, I have a few condo and
- 44:35apartment complexes that like to order their packages and they
- 44:38all happen to live on the 2nd floor or so.
- 44:42And yeah, so I just look at those days of, well, I'm getting
- 44:45my stair steps in. Yep.
- 44:50And I did want to bring up a couple of things.
- 44:53First one is I have a carrier I talked to who got credit for a
- 44:58train and the reason why they got the credit is because
- 45:03they're right next to a rail yard and they would get stuck
- 45:07with a switching train almost every single day on that route.
- 45:12Oh my God. That would be something that
- 45:14would be. 20 minutes. Yep, that would be a
- 45:18miscellaneous that district should approve because you're
- 45:21constantly waiting there and they should see your stationary
- 45:24event. But the other thing I wanted to
- 45:28bring up about satchels, part of your time on the satchels.
- 45:34We have two step fours listed in the Steward reference guide on
- 45:37the web on the union website that specifically state that
- 45:41carriers who are instructed to carry a satchel, whether it is
- 45:46just for dog protections or if you are carrying a satchel for
- 45:50CBU delivery will be given credit in column R, which is
- 45:55miscellaneous time under the mail count, which would
- 45:58translate over to miscellaneous time in the mini mail survey.
- 46:02For the time required to pick up the satchel in the vehicle,
- 46:07place it on your shoulder, remove it from your shoulder and
- 46:11return it to its place in the vehicle.
- 46:14If these activities occur on a daily or weekly basis.
- 46:19So that is an unless an unusual existing exist for a special
- 46:24trip must be made in the office to obtain and return the
- 46:27satchel, no additional credit would be warranted.
- 46:31So in that instance, getting your satchel could be on load
- 46:35time under my opinion only and you get credit in your end of
- 46:40shift duties automatically with return to DU time to put that
- 46:45satchel where it belongs before you go home.
- 46:48You guys agree with that? If you don't agree with.
- 46:51This, yeah. I mean, you know, you do.
- 46:57You leave a satchel with the vehicle, turn it to the original
- 47:02equipment area, I mean. It's supposed to keep the
- 47:05vehicle empty at the end of the day.
- 47:08Yeah, yeah, exactly. And how many carriers do that,
- 47:12James? Including City side.
- 47:16How many carriers do this? And I'm just saying that's what
- 47:21what the black and white says. That's what the black and white
- 47:24says you correct, but black and white versus actuality.
- 47:32My girl got a her her mattress was pull up for service today.
- 47:38The parcels were run late. They didn't get them till 10:00
- 47:41AM and she had two box holders and had already volunteered to
- 47:46help on a vacant one of the vacant routes.
- 47:49So her vehicle wasn't ready. The equipment in her vehicle
- 47:53like you know, her, the scanner holders and everything that she
- 47:59has set up in her vehicle weren't available to her and the
- 48:03and the supervisor said, well, you need to take these two box
- 48:07holders out. Do you do you want me to take
- 48:10the box holders out? Do you want me to help on our
- 48:11D12 turn into easy answer up on our D12 leave the box holders
- 48:22and I you know, I and I said to her, you know, on the down low,
- 48:27do the budget box holder in for today.
- 48:29Put a box holder in for Monday. Carry your discretion, but the
- 48:37fact of the matter is that you need the credit.
- 48:39This is the same carrier who got her DPS numbers back on the
- 48:44radar report reporting zero and only 6% coverage factor or 8%
- 48:49coverage factor which we all know will affect your paycheck.
- 48:56Oh, I mean, you have to play the game, but we're held to a more
- 49:03rigid standard in management is. I say keep in mind if they are
- 49:09doing what they're supposed to with the vehicle and empty it
- 49:13with the satchel, they're going to get credit during load time
- 49:18and end of ship duties to take it out and put it back in the
- 49:21next day. In your court, Kristen.
- 49:28We're going to move on to the walk office, walking distance.
- 49:34I know we briefly went over this a couple episodes ago, but we're
- 49:37going to go over it again according to what the data
- 49:42collection form says. Yes, not what management told
- 49:48me. Walking distance segments
- 49:56measure the round trip distance footage required for the carrier
- 50:01to complete the segment where applicable.
- 50:05Office walking distances only applies to activities performed
- 50:09in the AM while the carrier is in the office prior to departing
- 50:15to the street for delivery. Activities performed in the PM
- 50:20after carrier returns to office from delivery are included in
- 50:26the End of Shift duties #1 Scanner Storage Area.
- 50:33This is where you're measuring from to the carrier's case, from
- 50:39the point where the carrier stands when retrieving the
- 50:42scanner to the point where the carrier stands when casing mail.
- 50:49I'll explain that you literally are.
- 50:52You're getting your scanner to clock in and then go to your
- 50:57case to start working. That is why you measure it that
- 51:00way. #2 carrier's case is where we're starting from and we're
- 51:08going to the raw letter or raw flats distribution case from the
- 51:14point where the carrier stands when casing mail to the point
- 51:18where the carrier stands when retrieving raw letters or raw
- 51:22flats, whichever is further. Include walking distance to
- 51:27obtain a convenience if typically required.
- 51:31And this is for withdrawal routes only.
- 51:34So if you do not have a withdrawal office and clerks
- 51:38bring everything to you mail wise, you do not have to do that
- 51:42one. The third one is DPS letters
- 51:46distribution rack from the point where the carrier stands when
- 51:50casing mail to the point where the carrier normally stands when
- 51:54retrieving the first tray from the DPS letter rack.
- 51:58Include walking distance to obtain a conveyance if typically
- 52:02required. Withdrawal routes only.
- 52:07Again, if the clerks bring you everything and you are not a
- 52:10withdrawal office, you do not have to do those two walking
- 52:13distances. All right #4 is not applicable
- 52:20now #5 We're going to start the carrier's case and go to the
- 52:25parcel ample retrieval from the point where the carrier stands
- 52:29when casing mail to the location where the carrier normally
- 52:33stands when grasping the handle of the parcel ample for
- 52:36transport to their case assigned.
- 52:42And then the next one assigned location or typical location for
- 52:45inspection of government vehicle from the point where the carrier
- 52:51stands when casing mail to the point where the carrier stands
- 52:54when opening the driver's door of the parked vehicle.
- 52:59Use the assigned parking if there is is one or the typical
- 53:05location if there is none. So you're going to, if you have
- 53:10an assigned spot, that's where you're going to go.
- 53:12If you don't, then it's the typical location of where your
- 53:15government vehicle is. If you're APOV, you don't
- 53:18measure this. All right.
- 53:22The next one is your CFS markup 3 M centralized hold mail to the
- 53:28carrier's case from the point where the carrier stands when
- 53:32casing mail and follows their normal path to the CFS, the
- 53:36markup case and the three M location centralized hold and
- 53:41back to carrier's case. Note the order of locations may
- 53:45vary according to local practices.
- 53:48We don't have a centralized hold location.
- 53:50So that's something that we wouldn't have that additional
- 53:54footage for the centralized hold location, but for your CFS
- 53:58markup case, 3M location accountables, distribution
- 54:03points from the point where the carrier stands when casing mail
- 54:07to the point where the carrier receives accountable mail from
- 54:10the clerk in the morning. Pretty self-explanatory.
- 54:14If you have a cart that comes around with the count on the
- 54:17accountable cart, then you would go to where that cart stops for
- 54:21you. If you have to go to a cage,
- 54:23then you would measure the distance from your case to the
- 54:26cage and back. Pretty self-explanatory for your
- 54:30accountable distribution. Point.
- 54:32Hot case from the point where the carrier stands when casing
- 54:36mail to the point where the carrier stands when retrieving
- 54:39hot case mail? No, not applicable if performed
- 54:43in conjunction with load time. So if your office is one of
- 54:48those that goes to the hot case while you're under load time,
- 54:52then you don't get The Walking distance.
- 54:58Location to obtain additional pieces of empty equipment
- 55:02rolling stock prior to loading vehicle from the point where the
- 55:07carrier stands when casing mail to the average point.
- 55:10Location to obtain an additional piece of empty equipment rolling
- 55:14stock prior to loading vehicle. Note this only applies if the
- 55:19additional piece of equipment is required for loading and #11
- 55:27storage location for excess trays and tubs from the point
- 55:31where the carrier stands when casing mail to the location
- 55:34where excess trays tubs are stored after mail has been
- 55:38loaded for conveyance to the vehicle.
- 55:43And the last one, location of where the safety service talk is
- 55:47given from the point where the carrier stands when casing mail
- 55:51to the designated safety service talk area and back.
- 55:55Of course those are your in office walk distances.
- 56:01And I will issue the correction here.
- 56:06When I talked about walking around the truck to go to the
- 56:09front door, tell you the door you, you unlock, that is because
- 56:17all the managers that I have had in my office that that is what
- 56:22we do to get the best credit for that distance.
- 56:26And they actually walked with us all the way around the vehicle
- 56:30and said, that's right. So that is why I made that
- 56:33statement. It was a.
- 56:34It was an error in my part from training from management.
- 56:41Bad boy. I know, I know, the manager was
- 56:45supposed to train us on this and who was supposed to train us on
- 56:49this stuff? And credits are supposed to be
- 56:52in the favor of the carrier. James Snowmaker, come out there.
- 56:55Smack the stupid shit out of you for management training you.
- 57:00They are idiots. OK?
- 57:03Yeah, fuck they know about training.
- 57:04Come on now. Would would you wait?
- 57:07Let me ask you this, would you rather management give you extra
- 57:09credit or would you rather than fight you over every credit?
- 57:14Oh, I fight them on everything. I love fighting.
- 57:17Yes, but if they're, if they're giving, if they're giving you
- 57:21extra credit, if they're giving you extra credit with no
- 57:24argument, would you argue with extra credit?
- 57:29If it was unjustified, yes, yes, I I don't want anything that I'm
- 57:34not entitled to per the contract.
- 57:38OK, because they can't. When my route got adjusted 8
- 57:44years ago and RCA turned around and gave them the line of travel
- 57:52which had me backtracking 5 miles, I turned around and
- 57:57corrected it and they said well why do you want to do it this
- 57:59way? I said, well, hey, it's more
- 58:01efficient, OK, I'm not backtracking.
- 58:03All second of all, I said it saves the post office money.
- 58:07I said, third of all, you can't come back to me and say I'm not
- 58:10delivering it in this fashion because I know it's inefficient.
- 58:144th of all, you can't come back and ask me for money back.
- 58:19I'm not doing anything I can't justify as being efficient,
- 58:24legal within the terms of the agreement that we have in doing
- 58:28our route professionally, efficiently, competently, just
- 58:34because you were stupid enough to listen to an RCA who knows my
- 58:40route better, James. Oh, Bill, on that you're saying
- 58:46that if you were overpaid you would you didn't, you didn't
- 58:50want to get a letter of demand, but even if management errors
- 58:55and carriers favor, you'd agree to them giving a letter of
- 59:00demand? No, I I would agree that I'm not
- 59:04going to be subject to a letter to the man because of your
- 59:08incompetence, OK. And if you are going to be
- 59:14unethical, it's on you. This thing, you know, just
- 59:22because they feel that they have the ability, the right, the
- 59:28justification, the fuck you over doesn't give you the same
- 59:34reciprocal rights. Screw them over.
- 59:38No argument we. Have to be.
- 59:40We have to be better than them, right?
- 59:43Because in the long run, when it comes back down to it, OK,
- 59:47you're the ones going to pay for it, not them.
- 59:51Exactly, exactly. And our carriers are paying for
- 59:55it. Our carriers are paying with
- 59:57that MOU. And it was just management's
- 1:00:02error. I go to bed every night, the
- 1:00:10clear conscience of the things I've done in the past.
- 1:00:13And ladies and gentlemen, you don't want to know what I've
- 1:00:17done in my past, but I've done it for God, for country, for
- 1:00:21family, whatever. But the fact of the matter is
- 1:00:24that as long as I was employed by the post office, I did what I
- 1:00:30was paid to do. I didn't shortcut anything.
- 1:00:33I didn't skimp on service. I actually gave extra service to
- 1:00:38some customers, even though I didn't get compensated for it
- 1:00:44because of the situations of those specific customers.
- 1:00:49I performed the best service that I could possibly afford
- 1:00:53with a without affecting my standards, time standards,
- 1:00:58service standards, my moral standards.
- 1:01:01I don't compromise my standards anybody or anything, period.
- 1:01:08That's the way I was raised. I'm going to get a little bit
- 1:01:11better explanation of what is random letters in random flats.
- 1:01:18What they include. Random letters include a letters
- 1:01:23that have not been run on any type of automation, letters from
- 1:01:29manual distribution cases and DPS mail errors. 3 M mail.
- 1:01:39I'm trying to read this. Sorry guys I am blind.
- 1:01:44High rise without three M mail High rise without secondary
- 1:01:51addresses. CFSRTSUBBM Hold mail and closed
- 1:01:57business. Your DPS letter mail errors.
- 1:02:04No do not include walk sequence saturation mailings or box
- 1:02:08holders. Random flats include flats that
- 1:02:13have not been run on automation, flats from manual distribution
- 1:02:18cases, and flat size mailings not received in white tubs or
- 1:02:24from local distribution cases. Do not include walk sequence,
- 1:02:30saturation, mailings or box holders.
- 1:02:34Now in light of that, Kristen, somebody please expand on me the
- 1:02:44bundle flats that you receive that are in Polly's that are
- 1:02:49supposed to be included in your flat count.
- 1:02:54God forbid if that's actually true, but tell me how you can
- 1:03:01prove that you're actually receiving credit for those flats
- 1:03:06in a timely fashion. You can't.
- 1:03:11Supposedly they're on the radar report and you have to keep
- 1:03:15track of every single one that you get, average it out for the
- 1:03:1952 weeks, and make sure that you're actually getting credit
- 1:03:22for every single flat that you get as long as it is less than
- 1:03:2619%, I believe was the #19% credit.
- 1:03:32Yeah, but your guess is as good as the next person.
- 1:03:39Because I, I've seen where, especially in your area, OK, not
- 1:03:44specifically Michigan, but in the Midwest area, they get a lot
- 1:03:48of these things that are dropped off at the dock.
- 1:03:53So how, how do you prove you're getting, you know, actual credit
- 1:03:56for those? When, when our when our
- 1:04:01newspapers, when our local newspapers were getting dropped
- 1:04:04off at the dock. We counted ours for the mini
- 1:04:09mail survey. Now that our local newspapers
- 1:04:13are coming from the plant, which is interesting.
- 1:04:19Yeah, they're not counted. I I, yeah, I'm I'm still
- 1:04:26perplexed by the fact that Ronnie Stutz.
- 1:04:29OK. And, and prior to Ronnie Stutz
- 1:04:32that the, the engineers, the arbitrators, everybody else
- 1:04:36agreed there would be transparency.
- 1:04:38Ronnie Stutz delayed the first mini male survey because of the
- 1:04:43lack of transparency from the numbers that the post office
- 1:04:46was, you know, providing right through Don Madison's, you know,
- 1:04:53terms. And we're not getting the
- 1:04:57transparency that was dictated by the engineers.
- 1:05:03Why aren't carriers up in arms over this, James?
- 1:05:11Because they probably aren't even aware of it.
- 1:05:14But you better make sure they are aware of it, yeah?
- 1:05:17You better. You know what?
- 1:05:19That's what we're trying to do here.
- 1:05:20We're trying to get the information out to the carrier,
- 1:05:23trying to get them educated and trying to get people to realize
- 1:05:28that there is a lot more to this craft and this union than just
- 1:05:35delivering the mail. It's a lot deeper than that's, a
- 1:05:38lot stronger than that. And carriers on the ground,
- 1:05:42boots on the ground, are the union.
- 1:05:45They are the reason this union exists and the reason this union
- 1:05:50needs to step up. If carriers want this union to
- 1:05:53make a difference, they need to use their voice.
- 1:05:56They need to step up. Look at the city carriers, 70%
- 1:06:01to 30% on their contract. That is city carriers stepping
- 1:06:07up for their craft. Our union could do the same
- 1:06:11thing. All our carriers could step up
- 1:06:13for the craft if they get educated.
- 1:06:17Well, and this, this is the battle you're fighting all the
- 1:06:20time because of the fact that the complacency that the, I'll
- 1:06:27say the, the, the lack of, of faith that we have in our union
- 1:06:33because of the fact that we see so many people complaining about
- 1:06:36their local sewers or Adrs or DRS.
- 1:06:39The, the fact of the matter is that the management continually
- 1:06:42gets away with this horseshit that, you know, we have to set
- 1:06:48the example from the top. I guarantee you like, like I
- 1:06:53said years ago, if if I'm elected president of the of the
- 1:06:58NRLCA, OK and I go out to Western States Conference, I
- 1:07:05take two or three extra days and I go to a local office, see how
- 1:07:09things are done. Or you know, I'm in Michigan.
- 1:07:14Stop by Kristen's office, see what's going on.
- 1:07:19The amount of involvement, the the amount of factual personal
- 1:07:24contact in connection with those individuals, it just escalates,
- 1:07:30you know, 100% because you actually can put a face with
- 1:07:35somebody, you can actually put a concern.
- 1:07:40James Brennan as president would sit there and OK, write down
- 1:07:43Kristen Wakeman's name. OK, she's pissed off this.
- 1:07:46Why investigate it? Let's let let the the, you know,
- 1:07:51director of Labor relations look into it.
- 1:07:52Let, let's let the director of Stewart Operations look into it.
- 1:07:57Yeah. All right, whatever.
- 1:07:59But the fact is there is no connection between the national
- 1:08:03office and the individual carrier.
- 1:08:08And it it, it just makes people say I can't do nothing about it.
- 1:08:16There's nothing to be done. This is the way it is.
- 1:08:18This is the way it always will be.
- 1:08:20That's the attitude that has to change.
- 1:08:24That's mentality has to be turned around to say we do care.
- 1:08:34Thinking is painful. Oh my God.
- 1:08:37Only if you're in management. Nope.
- 1:08:40I want to touch on something because that's been my biggest
- 1:08:42thing about when, you know, being involved, even the
- 1:08:44smallest, most minute thing as simple as voting can make a
- 1:08:49difference. And this is for example, with
- 1:08:53the city TA that recently got voted down.
- 1:08:57They had more people vote no, more members vote no than all
- 1:09:06the members combined that voted for the previous TA for just the
- 1:09:14no vote. There was more no votes, more
- 1:09:17people came out and voted than in a just a single vote than
- 1:09:23what you had all together for the previous one.
- 1:09:27That's what I mean by saying even that smallest thing as just
- 1:09:31voting can make a huge difference.
- 1:09:37The idea they have no idea, Kristen, they really don't.
- 1:09:43And, and you know, like, like we put up there for the, you know,
- 1:09:462025 candidates, national delegate candidates, if you're
- 1:09:51not involved, if you don't pay attention to the people you're
- 1:09:56sending to the National Convention, no piss in front of
- 1:10:01a hurricane, really. And you know, you hear a lot of
- 1:10:05times that people saying, well, I don't know who these people
- 1:10:08are. You know, go to your local
- 1:10:10meetings, try to go to your state booster.
- 1:10:12Those are the, those are the people that are going to be
- 1:10:14there that are on there for the most part.
- 1:10:17Also, if you you can go on the NRLCA website and you can
- 1:10:23download the previous convention's proceedings, go
- 1:10:29through that and look for the names to see.
- 1:10:33And if it's somebody that's you know on from your state that
- 1:10:36spoke up at the microphone, that gives you an idea of where they
- 1:10:41stand on certain things. That's another good way to
- 1:10:44really look and see who some of these people are that are
- 1:10:48running for national delegate. And that's important, Kristen,
- 1:10:53because you can see what they're speaking on and how they're
- 1:10:57speaking for or against a certain topic.
- 1:11:02Yeah, and you can also make it easier on yourself to find the
- 1:11:06people in your state. Use the search function and find
- 1:11:12your state name. Now, sometimes it'll come up in
- 1:11:15convert in the conversations that they're making, but most
- 1:11:18often it'll be the person's last name, Delegate 8.
- 1:11:25So you can actually find everybody in your state that's
- 1:11:28talked at National Convention just by that fact alone.
- 1:11:32And you don't forget the X, the last national magazine also has
- 1:11:39the delegate nomination ballot in there.
- 1:11:42So people can get their name out there and run for delegate to be
- 1:11:48at National Convention to be able to use your voice and your
- 1:11:52vote, the vote on resolutions, the next national board members,
- 1:11:57everything. And you could even speak on the
- 1:12:01resolutions on the people, stuff like that.
- 1:12:05It's it's important to step up for your union.
- 1:12:11Step up for yourself. Yourself.
- 1:12:14For your audience. You know, I mean, if, if you
- 1:12:20have an office where everybody just goes along to get along,
- 1:12:28sorry, I don't want to work there.
- 1:12:31I, I want an office where there is mutual respect, knowledge
- 1:12:35there. There's, you know, people who
- 1:12:37are solely accountable and concerned with the contract as
- 1:12:43well as how we are treated. I mean, I, I, I grew up in the
- 1:12:50post office, you know, shit, at 40 years old, I grew up in an
- 1:12:54office that was basically, you know, towing the line.
- 1:13:03And I didn't mind that because of the fact that everybody towed
- 1:13:06the line. But as we got into this
- 1:13:08micromanaging aspect of, of running the post office, it's
- 1:13:13funny how the, the whole atmosphere changed, especially
- 1:13:17because of the fact that management was equipped,
- 1:13:22actually manages the post office in the fashion that they were
- 1:13:26being dictated. The post office was ill equipped
- 1:13:30dealing with Amazon and the volume, the COVID and the
- 1:13:34volume. And then we went to Dejoy and
- 1:13:39now we're with SD and CS. My suburb record is APTF now she
- 1:13:49is the highest seniority PTF and she cannot become a a career
- 1:13:59carrier in our office because now that we are associated with
- 1:14:04the SD and CA, route will come up in Phoenixville rural route
- 1:14:09office that she will have to take and the lower PTF will be
- 1:14:16able to get route in our office per SE except if right now she's
- 1:14:26thinking about quitting. If if the route in Phoenixville
- 1:14:31goes up and then a route opens up in your office, guess what?
- 1:14:35She can bid on that route before the PTF moves up.
- 1:14:40But it won't. Weeks 2 weeks.
- 1:14:46Yes. Oh wait, it's going to go up for
- 1:14:49a bid. And before the next that one's
- 1:14:50awarded, the other one's going to go up for a bid.
- 1:14:53Correct. Are they still running them
- 1:14:57separately? Well, you know, the the thing of
- 1:15:01it is, is that I, I like I explained to her.
- 1:15:04Once you accept the one in Phoenixville, then put in for
- 1:15:08one in Westchester because of the fact that you are a regular,
- 1:15:15technically you'll get the Westchester office 1st.
- 1:15:21Yeah. So all right, getting back to
- 1:15:25what what's left on the mini male survey there, Kristen?
- 1:15:29Kristen. What?
- 1:15:33You were saying with a high rise?
- 1:15:37Yes. I just wanted to clarify for
- 1:15:41people that that's typically apartments.
- 1:15:44So they would have 123 Main St. apt 1O2.
- 1:15:50That's what they mean is it's missing the apartment number
- 1:15:53which makes it in IA. It doesn't make it in IA, but it
- 1:15:59does make it a random letter out of your DPS.
- 1:16:05It's ADPS error but if you look at the domestic mail manual it
- 1:16:11says for insufficient address. If you know where it goes, you
- 1:16:15are to attempt delivery. And if you don't know where it
- 1:16:18goes, well, then it's an insufficient address.
- 1:16:22Exactly. I have a couple of those with
- 1:16:24names that pop up and I'm like, well, you don't have a unit
- 1:16:27number and I don't know your name, so you're not getting this
- 1:16:32exactly. Now that pretty much covered the
- 1:16:39mini mail survey. And you do have the right to
- 1:16:43count your random letters and random flats.
- 1:16:48Management is required to count them, but you can count them
- 1:16:52after they do to ensure the accuracy of their count.
- 1:16:57Be afraid to do it. Don't be afraid to question
- 1:16:59them. It's supposed to be an accurate
- 1:17:02count, so make sure you're holding management accountable
- 1:17:05to an accurate count. And you do have the right to
- 1:17:09turn everything behind the last. Week.
- 1:17:14Also, you have to remember when you get the paperwork and
- 1:17:18whether or not you're going to take high or low option if it is
- 1:17:23applicable. Remember you do have to be 10
- 1:17:27years out from computation date to accept the high option if
- 1:17:35applicable. As somebody said in here, you do
- 1:17:40have the right to observe account the mini mail survey on
- 1:17:43your day off in an unpaid status.
- 1:17:46Yes, can't touch anything. You can just come in and watch.
- 1:17:52Yes, and make sure yes and make sure management toggles the high
- 1:17:56option. We've had that issue in my
- 1:17:57office where they signed for high option and they didn't get
- 1:18:01high option and it took them almost a month to get it fixed.
- 1:18:05Yeah. And same with withdrawal office,
- 1:18:09you take anything out, make sure it's the buttons checked for you
- 1:18:13to be a withdrawal office. Yes, withdrawal offices are all
- 1:18:17or nothing for the most part. You either are a withdrawal
- 1:18:21office or you are not a withdrawal office.
- 1:18:25A withdrawal office is the one where you have to go get your
- 1:18:30mail. You were get your, your raw
- 1:18:35flats, your raw letters, your hot case, you retrieve your DPS.
- 1:18:40A non withdrawal office means it is all of that is brought to you
- 1:18:46to your case. So make sure you know which one
- 1:18:50of your offices, if your office is one or the other.
- 1:18:55The only way that it can be changed is if there is a vote
- 1:18:59within the office amongst the carriers.
- 1:19:03On a personal note, on a personal note, Fender Bender
- 1:19:08said I need some cheese about this for, you know, stressful
- 1:19:12conditions. I would like some pursuit or
- 1:19:15some nice dry salamis with that. OK?
- 1:19:19This might be a personal. Observation.
- 1:19:23I'm I'm telling you, there's nothing like cheese pursuit and
- 1:19:26salami. Oh my God.
- 1:19:28I have to agree. With a Chardonnay too.
- 1:19:30A good Chardonnay and. There's there's reasons why I'm
- 1:19:34really looking forward to Italy in October.
- 1:19:37Oh my God, Kristen, let me tell you, you are going to come back
- 1:19:4212 lbs heavier. God, I hope not.
- 1:19:46Oh, no, no, no, I'm telling. I'm going to have to lose 20 lbs
- 1:19:50just so I can. I went to, I went the last time
- 1:19:56I went to Italy, I was 218. I came back 242.
- 1:20:01Oh my. Well, as much walking as we're
- 1:20:04going to do, I'm think. Pretty sure we can walk it.
- 1:20:06Didn't matter. It didn't matter because you
- 1:20:08wouldn't walk 100 yards without running into another Bistro
- 1:20:12cafe. Oh my God.
- 1:20:14Like I said, any pasta is it. To them it's like appetizers.
- 1:20:21To us it's a meal and they get insulted if you don't eat.
- 1:20:26Yeah, if you don't clean your plate, they are.
- 1:20:28Oh my God. I'm cappuccino after 11:00 AM.
- 1:20:39You're not ordering cappuccino after 11:00 AM?
- 1:20:41OK, I'm that. No, guys, we're going to wind it
- 1:20:44down. I will.
- 1:20:48Keep it real for. You know that I am making small
- 1:20:52little progress into my edit book presentation.
- 1:20:55So that is coming. I have started it so we will
- 1:21:01hopefully be getting to that here shortly on edit books.
- 1:21:06I am in the process of finally getting that presentation done
- 1:21:08so. Puzzles off.
- 1:21:13All right, that now, James, your final words for this evening.
- 1:21:20You know, it's that time of the year again, 2 * a year that we
- 1:21:25have to do the mini mail survey and we know everything is up in
- 1:21:29the air until the final numbers drop and management does their
- 1:21:33adjustments to whatever they want to adjust.
- 1:21:36But you have to remember, this is the process that we have
- 1:21:39right now. This is what we need to do to
- 1:21:42ensure that we get as much credit as possible as accurately
- 1:21:47as possible. So keep your eye on management,
- 1:21:50keep your eye on everything that's going on.
- 1:21:53Make sure they are fair to you. Make sure they treat you with
- 1:21:59fairness over it. It is an evolving process and
- 1:22:05they are still working out the kinks in it.
- 1:22:08I know I still haven't heard any updates on how they're fixing
- 1:22:11parent child routes in the rec system, but it's going to get
- 1:22:17better. We have to work through this
- 1:22:21until it gets better, and doing so means standing up for
- 1:22:26ourselves, fighting for what's right, and holding management
- 1:22:32accountable. Just remember this is your money
- 1:22:39as many mail surveys are your money.
- 1:22:43Amen. And together and proud and show
- 1:22:49management. We're all in this together,
- 1:22:52Malco. I think so.
- 1:22:57This is 2 * a year. It's only two weeks.
- 1:23:03It's very minimal. It gets counted.
- 1:23:08Just keep up on it, hydrate, be safe out there, and don't get
- 1:23:15overwhelmed. Bill.
- 1:23:19Well, I've gone off on several topics tonight.
- 1:23:23I'm very passionate about them. The fact is that I don't have to
- 1:23:29care about you. I don't have to care about the
- 1:23:31post office. I don't have to care about the
- 1:23:33union, but yet I do. I mean, my wife does not
- 1:23:38understand the level of commitment, compassion that I
- 1:23:42have for this craft and she doesn't understand the fact that
- 1:23:51I am the white knight, OK, I am the one that comes in save the
- 1:23:57day. I am the one to fight every
- 1:24:00battle, whether I win or lose because of the fact that I will
- 1:24:03not back down. But the fact of the matter is
- 1:24:06that you deserve better. You are entitled to better.
- 1:24:14You've earned it. I mean, ever since COVID has
- 1:24:18come into play, ever since Amazon has come into play, you
- 1:24:22have earned every in nickel and dime that you have laundered to
- 1:24:30your paid payroll system and the, and the, and the truth of
- 1:24:34it is, folks, you deserve more. I don't feel that you're going
- 1:24:40to get it with the current national roll letter carriers
- 1:24:44board. I don't even dare say that
- 1:24:49you'll get it in the in the next TA tentative agreement for the
- 1:24:52for the royal craft. I wish the best for you.
- 1:24:56I, I wish for everybody to, to, to be able to have a safe
- 1:25:03medical workplace environment so that you don't go in there
- 1:25:10dreading going to work, to be able to say that, you know, you
- 1:25:17have a, a cell, a safe, healthy environment to work in.
- 1:25:23But we know that's not true. All of you go out, do the job to
- 1:25:28the best of your ability. Be efficient, be safe.
- 1:25:35Do the job as professionally as you can.
- 1:25:39Make sure your last delivery is the most important delivery.
- 1:25:45It's yourself, home to your loved ones.
- 1:25:50I'm an asshole. I'm an asshole that cares.
- 1:25:55Home to your loved ones. God bless you all, Kristen.
- 1:26:01Thank you guys. I mean, we really we did get the
- 1:26:04mini mail survey covered for the most part and the only really
- 1:26:08big notable change that's on this next one is the difference
- 1:26:13in pars labels. So we can't really complain
- 1:26:17about that. And other than that, everybody
- 1:26:21stay safe. I know some of us are still
- 1:26:24getting this wonderful inclement weather.
- 1:26:27How likely I got done today in time before it started.
- 1:26:32But you know, be vigilant out there guys.
- 1:26:34Be safe, stay hydrated. Even yes, in the winter it's dry
- 1:26:39air. You got to stay hydrated.
- 1:26:42I know I go through at least 1-2 bottles of water while I'm out
- 1:26:45on the route as well. So be vigilant, stay safe, stay
- 1:26:51warm in areas that are getting cold.
- 1:26:54And everybody enjoyed the Super Bowl.
- 1:26:59Yes. Congratulations to the winner
- 1:27:04since this is recorded before it happens, so congratulations to
- 1:27:07the winning team. You and I do believe we will
- 1:27:13return at the normal time next week, which actually is a
- 1:27:19holiday for the 17th. So yeah, I don't have to worry
- 1:27:26about trying to get to bed super early Sunday night, so.

- 1:27:33Oh yeah, yeah, you've got that next one going.
