Latest / Bleacher Report / Micah Parsons: I Was WRONG About Chiefs, PRAISES 49ers & Raiders, More Week 3 Takes
Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Welcome back to The Edge. I'm your boy, Micah Parsons.
- 0:03Speaker 1: And I'm with Q Avery. And this is where it
- 0:06Speaker 1: goes down. Week three. Man, oh man. Has football been crazy?
- 0:11Speaker 2: It's been a lot of wild stuff taking place out here.
- 0:13Speaker 1: Yeah, it's been a lot of wild stuff.
- 0:15Speaker 2: We're going to talk about the Vikings, who are one
- 0:17Speaker 2: of the five teams that are currently undefeated in the NFL.
- 0:20Speaker 2: Of course, they got the win versus Green Bay. Went
- 0:23Speaker 2: over to Chicago in a sloppy game and they beat
- 0:25Speaker 2: up on a banged up Bucs. San Francisco 49ers, 3-0.
- 0:29Speaker 2: Kansas City Chiefs 3-0, Las Vegas Raiders 3-0, Buffalo Bills 3-0.
- 0:34Speaker 2: So how would you rank these teams?
- 0:36Speaker 1: You know, ranking them is tough. I would say most impressed,
- 0:41Speaker 1: not shocking because it's the NFL, but who I'm most
- 0:44Speaker 1: impressed with the 3-0 is I would say Raiders and Chiefs.
- 0:48Speaker 2: Raiders, I definitely agree there.
- 0:49Speaker 1: Raiders and Chiefs. I would say Chiefs because they were
- 0:52Speaker 1: low on my did they have enough talent in replacement issues.
- 0:58Speaker 1: They're playing really good football offensively and defensively right now.
- 1:02Speaker 1: They were someone, and I can admit when I'm wrong,
- 1:05Speaker 1: I was wrong when I, you know, I didn't thought
- 1:07Speaker 1: they were going to have the year they had. Patrick
- 1:09Speaker 1: Mahomes came back from the ACL and LCL playing good ball,
- 1:14Speaker 1: not turning the ball over. Kenneth Murray came in. Kenneth Walker,
- 1:18Speaker 1: the right back? Kenneth Walker, my fault.
- 1:19Speaker 2: He's going to fool.
- 1:20Speaker 1: He's going crazy. Kenneth Walker. So it's like they had
- 1:24Speaker 1: a plan, and that's what I mean. What is the
- 1:27Speaker 1: plan for when you're signing these free agents? What placement
- 1:31Speaker 1: are they going to be in? And, you know, the
- 1:33Speaker 1: guys they drafted are playing really good for them. They're
- 1:36Speaker 1: making a difference in their lineup. They knew what they
- 1:38Speaker 1: were doing. And for how much they let go, I
- 1:41Speaker 1: did not think they would be able to do this,
- 1:43Speaker 1: but they're starting the year off really good. And all
- 1:46Speaker 1: their wins are really good wins. Like, they're not like, oh, like,
- 1:50Speaker 1: they dominated Denver. Who was the other two wins again?
- 1:52Speaker 1: We got Denver. They beat Indiana. Yeah.
- 1:55Speaker 2: And then they beat a Miami team.
- 1:56Speaker 1: All right. Miami, you know what I mean? Miami's working
- 2:01Speaker 1: through some things. Yeah, Miami's working through some things. But
- 2:03Speaker 1: Denver and Indiana, they're big wins. They're big wins.
- 2:06Speaker 2: And why are you impressed with the Raiders?
- 2:09Speaker 1: Because they were another one. I didn't know that, you know,
- 2:13Speaker 1: like they added Nicole B. Dean, Quay Walker. They added
- 2:18Speaker 1: a lot to that defense. But offensively, they've been playing
- 2:21Speaker 1: good ball. They've been playing very good quality football. Kirk
- 2:24Speaker 1: Cousins has been playing. Kirk Cousins. But what did they do?
- 2:28Speaker 1: They drafted Mendoza, but they also brought in veteran leadership.
- 2:34Speaker 1: And Kirk's a guy you can learn from. Yeah. This
- 2:37Speaker 1: is a team with a plan. That's why I say
- 2:39Speaker 1: some owners and, hey, you know who's one of the
- 2:42Speaker 1: owners now? Tom Brady. He's came in. He has involvement
- 2:45Speaker 1: with this. But this is all part of the plan.
- 2:48Speaker 1: Set your picks up for success. What does my veteran
- 2:52Speaker 1: look like? What is the rooms I'm walking into look like?
- 2:55Speaker 1: And this is what it means.
- 2:56Speaker 2: And they got Kansas City next week. What do you
- 2:58Speaker 2: think the rest of the season looks like for the Raiders?
- 3:02Speaker 1: Ooh. You know, the league is week by week. It's
- 3:06Speaker 1: not how you start, it's how you finish. So we
- 3:08Speaker 1: can't throw too much at them right now. But I
- 3:11Speaker 1: would say the game against KC would tell us a
- 3:13Speaker 1: lot where they're going. Are they going to be a
- 3:14Speaker 1: playoff team? They can be.
- 3:16Speaker 2: Are they going to be a playoff team?
- 3:18Speaker 1: They can be.
- 3:18Speaker 2: Anybody can be.
- 3:19Speaker 1: Anybody can be. It's only week three. It's only week three.
- 3:22Speaker 1: But we got to see how they're going to play
- 3:25Speaker 1: that game. I think both sides, this is going to
- 3:27Speaker 1: be like a very good game. What are we going
- 3:31Speaker 1: to see?
- 3:32Speaker 2: I know you're impressed by those guys, but let me
- 3:33Speaker 2: get a ranking. Who's your number five team?
- 3:35Speaker 1: Got to be the Vikings.
- 3:37Speaker 2: Okay.
- 3:37Speaker 1: They've been winning ugly. Very ugly. Very ugly. I don't
- 3:40Speaker 1: know if it's sustainable.
- 3:43Speaker 2: I mean, Flores is doing some stuff now.
- 3:45Speaker 1: Flores is doing some, but it's ugly wins. I think
- 3:47Speaker 1: they said... The game.
- 3:49Speaker 2: Against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, lowest EPA by two teams
- 3:54Speaker 2: in the NFL all season.
- 3:55Speaker 1: Not only that, they said they're the first team to
- 3:58Speaker 1: be undefeated and have less total yards in each game
- 4:04Speaker 1: or something like that. Like yards are often. So floors go,
- 4:08Speaker 1: but like it's ugly wins. I don't know if it's sustainable.
- 4:11Speaker 1: Who you got it for? This one gets hard. Raiders
- 4:15Speaker 1: four at three. I'm going to take San Fran. What
- 4:20Speaker 1: do you like about the San Fran team? They just
- 4:22Speaker 1: play so well together, bro. They just play so well together.
- 4:27Speaker 2: I think Brock Purdy's playing better than any quarterback in
- 4:29Speaker 2: the league right now.
- 4:30Speaker 1: He is. He's playing extraordinary right now. But, you know,
- 4:34Speaker 1: they're facing so many injuries again. So many injuries. That's
- 4:39Speaker 1: what worries me about this team. That's the one thing
- 4:42Speaker 1: that worries me. They're just facing so many injuries.
- 4:44Speaker 2: They got to get away from that energy plant or
- 4:46Speaker 2: whatever that thing is.
- 4:47Speaker 1: It's something.
- 4:48Speaker 2: The data center, whatever that thing is behind a practice facility,
- 4:51Speaker 2: we got to get out of there.
- 4:52Speaker 1: It's something.
- 4:52Speaker 2: Who we got it to?
- 4:53Speaker 1: We got the Buffalo Bills and the Kansas City Chiefs left.
- 4:57Speaker 1: I'm going to go KC. KC? I'm going to say KC.
- 5:00Speaker 1: And then what do.
- 5:01Speaker 2: You think about the Buffalo Bills that makes themselves such
- 5:03Speaker 2: a strong team?
- 5:06Speaker 1: Everything has been good for them. Everyone's healthy. Josh Allen
- 5:10Speaker 1: is playing great football, and our defense is playing complimentary
- 5:13Speaker 1: right now. Like, they're playing, they have the leading sack leader,
- 5:18Speaker 1: Greg Rousseau. Okay, yeah, yeah. He's leading the league. Their
- 5:21Speaker 1: D tackles are playing crazy right now. Just all around,
- 5:26Speaker 1: they're playing very good football. And Josh is playing, if
- 5:29Speaker 1: not top three quarterback in the league right now.
- 5:32Speaker 2: I saw them in a joint practice with the Browns
- 5:34Speaker 2: this year. I was nervous for the Browns after that practice.
- 5:38Speaker 2: But seeing how good the Buffalo Bills are now, it
- 5:41Speaker 2: all makes sense.
- 5:42Speaker 1: Big news today.
- 5:43Speaker 2: The New York Giants traded for J.J. McCarthy.
- 5:48Speaker 1: I'm not going to lie. I'm disappointed in the Vikings
- 5:50Speaker 1: for that. Wow. Talk to me. I'm so disappointed. You know,
- 5:53Speaker 1: love it for the Giants because obviously they need a
- 5:55Speaker 1: backup quarterback. But this is the guy's, what, third year
- 5:59Speaker 1: in the league?
- 6:00Speaker 2: Third year.
- 6:00Speaker 1: And he's traded. Top 15 pick. It's like he was
- 6:04Speaker 1: injured his rookie year. And Sam Darnold started. Sam took off.
- 6:10Speaker 1: They decided not. Like, the whole point of not letting
- 6:14Speaker 1: Sam Darnold come out of the building was he was
- 6:18Speaker 1: going to be the franchise guy. Yeah.
- 6:20Speaker 2: He was the 10th overall pick, just so we're clear.
- 6:22Speaker 1: Oh, 10th overall. Okay. Even worse. Even worse. So, you know,
- 6:27Speaker 1: if you're saying, hey, we're not going to pay Sam Darnold,
- 6:29Speaker 1: who's a Super Bowl champion now, and, you know, like,
- 6:35Speaker 1: what are we doing? As a front office, like. Like,
- 6:38Speaker 1: how are we going to keep allowing this? And this
- 6:40Speaker 1: is just across the league. Do you think we've given
- 6:42Speaker 1: up on quarterbacks too early? Way too early. I've seen, like,
- 6:46Speaker 1: I would say from this generation, right, we've seen guys
- 6:53Speaker 1: develop later than earlier. And, like, we see the special
- 6:57Speaker 1: guys develop earlier, but not everyone develops at the same rate. Like, honestly, like,
- 7:04Speaker 1: him getting traded in his third year is, like, And
- 7:08Speaker 1: to say, like, he's the third quarterback behind Wentz was crazy. Like,
- 7:12Speaker 1: I think that's crazy.
- 7:14Speaker 2: When he's the third quarterback, though, that says something. That's like,
- 7:16Speaker 2: we really not rocking with you. You not our guy.
- 7:19Speaker 1: And that's the disrespectful part because, like, if you're injured
- 7:22Speaker 1: your first year, you come in your second year where
- 7:25Speaker 1: your line is banged up. The whole year we can
- 7:28Speaker 1: say the Vikings offensive line probably played two full games together. Like, maybe,
- 7:33Speaker 1: you know, if you really look at it, like, I
- 7:35Speaker 1: think O'Neal went down. Derrissaw went down. Jackson went down
- 7:41Speaker 1: a couple games. Will Fries went down a couple games.
- 7:44Speaker 1: The center went away. Like, you know, he's fighting for
- 7:47Speaker 1: his life. Like, the reads, the anticipation. I think there
- 7:51Speaker 1: was a video that Purdy came out and said was
- 7:55Speaker 1: majority of the quarterbacks can't see where they're throwing. Yeah,
- 7:57Speaker 1: you can't see over the line. No one does. It
- 8:00Speaker 1: was a dope, like, interview, but he was like, 40%
- 8:04Speaker 1: of the game on my throws are anticipation. So, like,
- 8:07Speaker 1: if you have a young guy, right, and this is
- 8:11Speaker 1: where we say as football players, we need more guys
- 8:14Speaker 1: who've played this sport to be in general manager positions
- 8:18Speaker 1: than guys who just say, hey, we watched a lot
- 8:21Speaker 1: of football. Because if I'm watching J.J. McCarthy, where has
- 8:24Speaker 1: he come from? Michigan. Michigan, yeah. But in that Michigan
- 8:28Speaker 1: time frame, what were they doing? Running the ball. Running
- 8:31Speaker 1: the ball. They were running the ball, running play-action scheme. Great.
- 8:35Speaker 1: So you can't draft this quarterback at 10th overall and say, hey,
- 8:38Speaker 1: we need you to drop back 30 times a game
- 8:40Speaker 1: and live in shotgun. That's not his world. Now he's
- 8:44Speaker 1: going to Harbaugh's world because what they do, They're going
- 8:47Speaker 1: to run the ball. They're going to run the ball.
- 8:48Speaker 1: Play action scheme. We're not going to ask you to
- 8:50Speaker 1: drop back 30 times a game. So it's like, what
- 8:52Speaker 1: are we watching and what is our outlook on this
- 8:55Speaker 1: team when we draft these players? So many people get
- 8:58Speaker 1: mad at the players. It's like, oh, he didn't do this.
- 9:01Speaker 1: He didn't do that. It's like, bro, what are you
- 9:05Speaker 1: drafting him to? What's my plan? I was lucky. I
- 9:08Speaker 1: had Dan Quinn. He said, we're going to drop you
- 9:11Speaker 1: in situations and we're also going to rush you. We're
- 9:14Speaker 1: going to put you in a position to win. Are
- 9:16Speaker 1: you okay with that? I say, yes. Give me those challenges.
- 9:19Speaker 1: We don't have enough of those coaches anymore.
- 9:21Speaker 2: 100%. And now he's with Harbaugh, the brother of his
- 9:24Speaker 2: coach in college.
- 9:26Speaker 1: Do you think he's.
- 9:26Speaker 2: Going to go to the Giants with the opportunity to
- 9:30Speaker 2: be their future, or is it going to be Dart's
- 9:32Speaker 2: job and he's just going to be a long-term backup?
- 9:35Speaker 2: I'm not going to lie, he could be in a
- 9:36Speaker 2: situation where we might not see J.J. McCarthy for, you know,
- 9:40Speaker 2: four or five years, and he might get a starting
- 9:42Speaker 2: role for injury and take off and flourish. Yeah, they
- 9:46Speaker 2: say that Jameis is going to be the starter as
- 9:48Speaker 2: the season, like he's going to remain the starter until
- 9:50Speaker 2: something changes.
- 9:51Speaker 1: You know, this could be a blessing in disguise for
- 9:54Speaker 1: him because as we've seen, you know, half these quarterbacks
- 9:58Speaker 1: are all coming off of, guys in front of them
- 10:01Speaker 1: get injured. You know, unfortunately for Dart, obviously, prayers up
- 10:06Speaker 1: for Jackson Dart. He looked like he was having a
- 10:09Speaker 1: phenomenal pace, phenomenal year, and go down to knee injury. Sorry,
- 10:13Speaker 1: Giants fans. Sorry to Dart. Pray and wish that never
- 10:16Speaker 1: happens to no quarterback. But, you know, Through the history
- 10:20Speaker 1: of the league, that's been our biggest opportunity to see
- 10:22Speaker 1: what guys can do. And I think allowing Jameis to
- 10:26Speaker 1: be in that locker room because, for one, where I
- 10:30Speaker 1: believe their biggest mistake was they didn't have a veteran
- 10:35Speaker 1: for McCarthy to learn from. Now, I'm not saying Jameis
- 10:38Speaker 1: is perfect, but Jameis, he's a winner, national champion, first
- 10:43Speaker 1: pick in the draft, and he's had a really good
- 10:47Speaker 1: NFL career. Is he a Hall of Famer? No, we're
- 10:49Speaker 1: not saying he's a Hall of Famer, one of the
- 10:51Speaker 1: greatest all the time. But is he a great locker room?
- 10:53Speaker 2: Great locker room.
- 10:54Speaker 1: Great teacher and a great person and player? Yes. He
- 10:57Speaker 1: checks every single one of those boxes. See, he busts
- 11:00Speaker 1: in disguise. And to say, like, no offense, but, you know,
- 11:05Speaker 1: I think what people say, that was the reason why
- 11:08Speaker 1: they kicked Kyler out of Arizona.
- 11:09Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 11:10Speaker 1: So, you know, he probably really wasn't learning there. And
- 11:12Speaker 1: Carson Wentz, I don't know. We don't know. You know, but.
- 11:16Speaker 1: Now he has a great opportunity to learn from people
- 11:18Speaker 1: in front of him, learn from a great coach, and
- 11:20Speaker 1: be a part of a great organization where they're actively
- 11:23Speaker 1: trying to build something special there. And the Giants look
- 11:25Speaker 1: like they're building something special. They do. But, hey, we
- 11:30Speaker 1: need to hold everyone accountable. Okay. I'm telling you this
- 11:33Speaker 1: right now. Their penalties is getting out of control. They
- 11:37Speaker 1: got to let the players play. It has to come
- 11:39Speaker 1: to a point where these penalties are so pivotal in
- 11:43Speaker 1: these moments that they have to be replayable. not just
- 11:46Speaker 1: defensive pass interference, but roughing the passer, defensive holding, OPIs,
- 11:53Speaker 1: like all these calls have to be replayed. Like, bro,
- 11:56Speaker 1: football is so fast now, like in a game has
- 11:59Speaker 1: expanded so crazily that like you literally can't just, like
- 12:04Speaker 1: one person can't see everything with one look and be
- 12:06Speaker 1: 100% right. Like it's just impossible.
- 12:10Speaker 2: So I saw three pivotal roughing the passer calls. Patrick Mahomes,
- 12:16Speaker 2: where he landed on him. We had Bryce Young. Cleveland's
- 12:19Speaker 2: got him. And then Deshaun got one from the Carolina Panthers.
- 12:24Speaker 2: Those three calls, I feel like, change games. They do, like,
- 12:28Speaker 2: automatic first down and 15 yards. That's pivotal, especially when
- 12:32Speaker 2: the ball's starting at the 30, pretty much no matter
- 12:34Speaker 2: what now. So that means you're already at the 45.
- 12:37Speaker 2: If your kicker's good, you.
- 12:38Speaker 1: Get one first down or a big chunk, you're already
- 12:41Speaker 1: in field goal position. 15 yards is a chunk play. Bro. Explosive.
- 12:45Speaker 1: They say 10-plus is explosive. Like, that is so pivotal.
- 12:50Speaker 1: And not only that, the ones that I've seen that
- 12:53Speaker 1: is so lopsided and how we view it is combative
- 13:00Speaker 1: between DB and wide receiver. If you're going to say, hey,
- 13:04Speaker 1: we're going to let them play and the DB grabs back,
- 13:06Speaker 1: you can't do that because how much the offensive guys
- 13:08Speaker 1: are pushing off now. They're literally full extension. And not
- 13:12Speaker 1: calling it.
- 13:12Speaker 2: I got to ask you about another big penalty, USC game.
- 13:15Speaker 1: You see that? The hit against Tim Moore? Yeah, that's
- 13:18Speaker 1: actually been a major topic.
- 13:20Speaker 2: So as a defensive player, when somebody slides that late,
- 13:24Speaker 2: how do you respond? Or what is your feeling on that?
- 13:27Speaker 1: I feel like it's been so much fake slides. And honestly, bro,
- 13:33Speaker 1: you can't really respect the QB slide right now because
- 13:36Speaker 1: how dangerous quarterbacks have been in college and the National
- 13:40Speaker 1: Football League. It's not like, respectfully, Dante Moore, he's a runner.
- 13:46Speaker 1: He's toting that thing. So imagine he fake slide or
- 13:50Speaker 1: he decides to cut. I want my defenders, the people
- 13:54Speaker 1: playing behind me, coming with that same tenacity if that's
- 13:56Speaker 1: a running back. Because at the end of the day,
- 13:59Speaker 1: you can't predict someone. If I'm running, first of all,
- 14:02Speaker 1: mind you, coming off ACL reconstruction, de-selling is one of
- 14:06Speaker 1: the hardest things to do when you have a new knee.
- 14:09Speaker 1: I'm going to just say that. I learned that, like,
- 14:11Speaker 1: when you got healthy knees, you don't realize the blessings
- 14:13Speaker 1: we have when, you know, it's right there. But if
- 14:17Speaker 1: you're running full speed, post, right side of the field
- 14:21Speaker 1: or middle, and a dude is coming at you with
- 14:25Speaker 1: full speed, your intentions isn't to brace. Like, I want
- 14:29Speaker 1: my DBs coming with bad intentions, right? But you can't
- 14:32Speaker 1: say last minute, I'm going to take a cop out. Now,
- 14:34Speaker 1: his actions after that was crazy. He was wilding. I
- 14:38Speaker 1: am not condoning the actions after the penalty. Tripping. I
- 14:42Speaker 1: would never condone that because once someone's getting carted off,
- 14:46Speaker 1: that is inexcusable behavior from really anybody. But up until
- 14:55Speaker 1: that point, sliding late, quarterbacks have to initiate the slide
- 14:58Speaker 1: earlier or refs got to say, hey, Or, bro, just
- 15:03Speaker 1: don't run the ball no more. Or do we say, hey,
- 15:05Speaker 1: after you get a certain yards, QB runs don't matter
- 15:07Speaker 1: no more.
- 15:09Speaker 2: We got to find something different. As a quarterback, I'm
- 15:11Speaker 2: not sliding feet first. I'm going to dive head first,
- 15:13Speaker 2: and we're going to figure it out from there.
- 15:14Speaker 1: It has to be some balance for sure. I don't know.
- 15:16Speaker 1: Head first might be dangerous too.
- 15:18Speaker 2: I feel like you can't knife. If I dive at
- 15:20Speaker 2: your knees, you're not going to be able to dive.
- 15:22Speaker 1: You're going to be safer. Yeah, you're going to try
- 15:24Speaker 1: to jump over. I see that. I see that. I
- 15:26Speaker 1: see that.
- 15:27Speaker 2: We already talked about Jackson Dart injury. There's been a
- 15:29Speaker 2: few others. We got Baker Mayfield down. Devin Aitken down,
- 15:33Speaker 2: Brian Burns down, Breeze Hall went down, Justin Jefferson, Jaden Daniels.
- 15:40Speaker 2: You're not back yet. We've seen a lot of guys
- 15:43Speaker 2: coming in to step up, help their team out. Marcus
- 15:45Speaker 2: Mariota gets a win for the Commanders. Jameis comes in
- 15:48Speaker 2: and gets a win for the Giants. What would you
- 15:50Speaker 2: argue is the most valuable position group with that information?
- 15:53Speaker 2: We're losing guys, but some teams are able to bounce
- 15:56Speaker 2: back and battle through it.
- 15:57Speaker 1: I'm not going to lie, quarterback, and I kind of
- 16:00Speaker 1: see why Um, you know, they kind of get the
- 16:07Speaker 1: MVP for wins and losses because, you know, Sam Donald
- 16:11Speaker 1: had what, three turnovers last week and you lose to a,
- 16:15Speaker 1: you know, a guy that's 14 for 22 and under
- 16:19Speaker 1: 120 yards passing. It's easy to control the game like that.
- 16:23Speaker 1: So it's like playing turnover free football and playing like, Hey,
- 16:28Speaker 1: we can't beat ourselves that. that's good football. You know
- 16:33Speaker 1: what I mean? Like, if you got a guy that
- 16:34Speaker 1: can just maintain the game, just keep us in it.
- 16:37Speaker 1: Don't lose the game. And, you know, that holds a
- 16:42Speaker 1: lot of weight. It definitely does.
- 16:44Speaker 2: What position is the most undervalued? Like, what position are
- 16:47Speaker 2: people not seeing that has value that's coming up?
- 16:52Speaker 1: Honestly, running backs. I was actually thinking about this, like,
- 16:55Speaker 1: last night. We might be in, like, There's been some
- 17:01Speaker 1: great running backs over the history of football. But the
- 17:05Speaker 1: guys I see in the game right now, this might
- 17:07Speaker 1: be the greatest generation of running backs that the NFL
- 17:10Speaker 1: has ever seen. Who we got?
- 17:11Speaker 2: We got Jamar Gibbs.
- 17:13Speaker 1: Gibbs. Saquon. Saquon.
- 17:15Speaker 2: Those are the two I think of when we're talking
- 17:16Speaker 2: about greatness at the running back position right now. B.
- 17:18Speaker 1: John. Oh, my bad, my bad. I absolutely meant B.
- 17:22Speaker 2: John because he's cold. B.
- 17:24Speaker 1: John, CMC.
- 17:25Speaker 2: You know who does not get enough credit?
- 17:27Speaker 1: Cook. Yeah, James Cook.
- 17:29Speaker 2: He be balling.
- 17:30Speaker 1: Balling. Like Derrick Henry. When you're talking about majority of
- 17:36Speaker 1: these teams that are winning, Kenneth Walker, these 3-0 teams,
- 17:42Speaker 1: great run game.
- 17:44Speaker 2: Yeah, when you say it like that, yeah, we got
- 17:47Speaker 2: a bunch of really good running backs in the mix. CMC,
- 17:51Speaker 2: Kenneth Walker.
- 17:53Speaker 1: James Cook. James Cook. What's the guy from the Raiders? Oh,
- 17:57Speaker 1: Ashton Gentry.
- 17:59Speaker 2: Barkley.
- 18:00Speaker 1: We got Henry. Minnesota Vikings. Aaron Jones and Jordan Mason.
- 18:04Speaker 2: Those two together make a solid run game, even though
- 18:07Speaker 2: they haven't been throwing the ball really well.
- 18:09Speaker 1: Like Jonathan Taylor. This is literally undervalued. When you look
- 18:19Speaker 1: at how many times Like, there was a stat when
- 18:22Speaker 1: we was preparing to play the Falcons. They said B.
- 18:25Speaker 1: John Robinson is averaging seven yards every time he touches
- 18:29Speaker 1: the ball. You know how crazy that is? That is wild.
- 18:33Speaker 2: But do you think this is better than, like, you know,
- 18:36Speaker 2: we had Adrian Peterson, Tomlinson, Chris Johnson. We had those guys.
- 18:42Speaker 1: It's like they had that, like, no, you're right. You're right. Like,
- 18:47Speaker 1: it's hard to take that away. Like, those are just
- 18:49Speaker 1: MVP guys. Yeah. But like.
- 18:53Speaker 2: Yeah, the 90s, we had the Barry Sanders, the Emmitt Smiths,
- 18:56Speaker 2: all those guys. We're seeing high-class running backs right now.
- 18:58Speaker 1: Yeah, but like, this right here is like crazy.
- 19:01Speaker 2: Yeah, I think that this group is different because they're
- 19:04Speaker 2: so involved in the game fully. They can catch the ball.
- 19:07Speaker 1: I'm talking about versatility. Like, don't get me... LT, versatility. AP,
- 19:12Speaker 1: a little... One of the great hands.
- 19:16Speaker 2: I don't even want to block him for real.
- 19:17Speaker 1: Barry, yes. Barry, yes. Um... You know, you can keep going.
- 19:23Speaker 1: But this right here, like, coming out the backfield.
- 19:28Speaker 2: Put them anywhere.
- 19:29Speaker 1: Like, Gibbs and Bijon are literally carrying their offenses right now.
- 19:33Speaker 2: They can play running back. They can play wide receiver.
- 19:35Speaker 1: They can do whatever. They're earning every bit of that
- 19:37Speaker 1: $ 25 million.
- 19:38Speaker 2: They need more than that.
- 19:40Speaker 1: They might need $ 40. We might have to bump the
- 19:42Speaker 1: cap up.
- 19:43Speaker 2: Hey, look, I don't know what the quarterback is getting,
- 19:44Speaker 2: but the quarterback should not be making more than either
- 19:47Speaker 2: one of those two on their ball.
- 19:48Speaker 1: Thanks. Thanks. So it's like, I'm not going to lie.
- 19:54Speaker 1: Those guys have been taking over. And I forgot. What?
- 19:58Speaker 1: Back in the day, 2K would win you MVP. For sure.
- 20:02Speaker 1: That's not winning you MVP no more.
- 20:05Speaker 2: No, you might get Offensive Player of the Year.
- 20:07Speaker 1: You're not getting MVP. You're not getting MVP. So it's
- 20:10Speaker 1: a different era right now for sure.
- 20:12Speaker 2: So we're looking at the elite players. I want to
- 20:15Speaker 2: start talking about MVP rankings. Let's go to your top
- 20:20Speaker 2: five there. The current favorites to win, Josh Allen, Brock Purdy, Lamar, Mahomes, Burrow, Stafford, Hurts, Gibbs.
- 20:29Speaker 2: I know Bajon and those guys are one and two,
- 20:32Speaker 2: but I think he should be in.
- 20:33Speaker 1: The running as well. No, he should definitely be in
- 20:34Speaker 1: the running. If you're going right now.
- 20:37Speaker 2: Let's go five to one.
- 20:38Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Five to one, I would take probably Gibbs.
- 20:43Speaker 1: Gibbs at five? Gibbs at five. I would take, actually,
- 20:48Speaker 1: you know what? Nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah.
- 20:51Speaker 1: We're going to put, see, I'm going to put Lamar
- 20:54Speaker 1: at five. You know, I think that Saint lost last week.
- 20:59Speaker 1: Kind of. But that Cowboys win really made them jump up.
- 21:02Speaker 1: And the reason why is just these next two guys
- 21:06Speaker 1: have just been like. Who's your four? Four? I'm probably
- 21:12Speaker 1: going to go. I'm probably going to go Gibbs. And
- 21:17Speaker 1: I'm going to go Bijan.
- 21:18Speaker 2: What are those two guys doing at four and three?
- 21:21Speaker 1: They're just touching the ball. And they're having so much
- 21:24Speaker 1: success in carrying the offense at just such a high rate. Like. Like,
- 21:29Speaker 1: this guy is, I told you, he's had seven yards
- 21:32Speaker 1: average every time he touches the ball, whether it's screen,
- 21:34Speaker 1: whether it's at the backfield, whether it's touching the ball.
- 21:36Speaker 1: That's an insane success rate.
- 21:38Speaker 2: What got you thinking Bajon over Gibbs, though? I mean,
- 21:42Speaker 2: Gibbs is carrying his team. They got a better record.
- 21:46Speaker 1: Bajon's doing it with less.
- 21:48Speaker 2: Bajon got, he got outside. He got London. He got
- 21:54Speaker 2: pizza tight end. They just got a quarterback. He just
- 21:57Speaker 2: got that. He still went for 200.
- 21:58Speaker 1: Fair. You know what I mean? But even without the quarterback,
- 22:04Speaker 1: he was doing it. Yeah, he going to get it
- 22:06Speaker 1: done no matter what happens. To me, that kind of
- 22:10Speaker 1: put it over the top. Now, they're right there. But also,
- 22:13Speaker 1: Gibbs is surrounded by Amon Singh Brown, top 10 receiver.
- 22:16Speaker 1: Jared Goff, very underrated. Yeah, Jared Goff, Laporta, Jamo, which is,
- 22:24Speaker 1: you know, he's electric. So it's not like, I'm not
- 22:26Speaker 1: saying that, like, those players, like, make him worse. I'm
- 22:30Speaker 1: just saying, like, what Bijan has done without having that
- 22:33Speaker 1: elite quarterback play. It adds value. Yeah, it just adds
- 22:36Speaker 1: a little bit more value. Okay. Because, like, everyone knows
- 22:39Speaker 1: where the ball is going. That's the crazy part.
- 22:41Speaker 2: And they still can't stop it.
- 22:42Speaker 1: Yeah. And his cuts is, like, a little bit better.
- 22:44Speaker 1: I would say it's a little bit better. His vision. Like,
- 22:47Speaker 1: Gibbs got the speed. Like, when I played him, like,
- 22:52Speaker 1: that speed is just, like, Like, oh my God. Like,
- 22:55Speaker 1: oh my God. You was on the sideline.
- 22:56Speaker 2: You seen, you seen Bijan work.
- 22:59Speaker 1: I seen it firsthand. He had a cutback. I love Zaire.
- 23:03Speaker 2: That cutback he had when Zaire had a free run,
- 23:07Speaker 2: he stopped and started as fast as I think a
- 23:09Speaker 2: human has ever stopped and started in real life.
- 23:14Speaker 1: Bro. To me, like, seeing it firsthand, like seeing it
- 23:19Speaker 1: on film, you like, oh man. But seeing it in person, Like,
- 23:23Speaker 1: how he's able to stay so square and then make
- 23:26Speaker 1: the sudden cut is just, like, the best I've ever
- 23:29Speaker 1: seen in the league. Who we got at two? At two,
- 23:33Speaker 1: I'm going to take Purdy. I'm going to take Purdy.
- 23:36Speaker 2: Why Purdy at two, not one?
- 23:39Speaker 1: Just Josh Allen. When I'm looking at the wins, like,
- 23:46Speaker 1: you know, and what Josh has done with his legs
- 23:50Speaker 1: and arms so far, that just puts it over him.
- 23:53Speaker 2: Yeah, the running element Josh has.
- 23:56Speaker 1: Yeah, that just adds it. But, like, that Houston team,
- 24:00Speaker 1: Josh coming out and dropping over 30. You know, Danny
- 24:04Speaker 1: sees Detroit, Detroit defense. They ain't no, like, slouches, but
- 24:08Speaker 1: coming out there, drop 30 again. And then he go
- 24:10Speaker 1: see the Chargers and do what he do. What was
- 24:13Speaker 1: the score last week?
- 24:14Speaker 2: The score last week? Let me find that for you.
- 24:17Speaker 1: I think I turned it off at the second half.
- 24:19Speaker 1: They started again. 24-16. You know, but, you know, I'm– 24-clip, like,
- 24:24Speaker 1: you know, he's just playing good football, bro. Good, smart football.
- 24:27Speaker 1: And they were behind.
- 24:28Speaker 2: He had a comeback victory.
- 24:29Speaker 1: I love it.
- 24:30Speaker 2: On the topic of the Texans, they started 0-3, joined
- 24:32Speaker 2: the Rams, the Patriots, and the Cowboys. Teams who didn't
- 24:36Speaker 2: start their season quite as expected. The Packers were the
- 24:38Speaker 2: last team to join the Rams, Super Bowl, and the
- 24:41Speaker 2: Patriots as teams with one and two starts. Which of
- 24:45Speaker 2: the teams in the sole start surprised you the most? Man,
- 24:48Speaker 2: I would say the Texans. The Texans surprised me a
- 24:51Speaker 2: little bit. But then I look back at the history,
- 24:54Speaker 2: like this is who they are.
- 24:55Speaker 1: Last year 0-3. They started off 0-3, then went on
- 24:58Speaker 1: a run. That's just kind of what they do. They
- 25:00Speaker 1: just go on runs. They're a very run team. Now
- 25:05Speaker 1: I'm panicked. And also, Cesar Strauss is playing really good
- 25:08Speaker 1: football right now.
- 25:08Speaker 2: He's been balling.
- 25:11Speaker 1: They just have to put more around him.
- 25:14Speaker 2: Yeah, I think it's really difficult when your number one
- 25:15Speaker 2: receiver is out, though.
- 25:17Speaker 1: His number one and number two and number three. Like,
- 25:21Speaker 1: Nico's out, Jaden Higgins is hurt, and Takedel's coming back
- 25:24Speaker 1: from major need. Like, it's hard, bro. Yeah. And, like,
- 25:31Speaker 1: Don Schultz, like, his tight end, like, very good player,
- 25:34Speaker 1: been in the league a long time. But he's not
- 25:36Speaker 1: Trey McBride. He's not Tucker Craft. He's not Kyle Pitts. Yeah.
- 25:42Speaker 1: They've been on the struggle bus. Like, it's just different.
- 25:46Speaker 2: The Cowboys, one and two, team you talked about very
- 25:49Speaker 2: highly of before the season.
- 25:50Speaker 1: Mm-hmm.
- 25:51Speaker 2: What do you think is missing with them?
- 25:53Speaker 1: Nothing. They just got to find ways to win. You know,
- 25:58Speaker 1: losing close games hurt.
- 26:00Speaker 2: When you see a game like yesterday, I'm not sure
- 26:02Speaker 2: if you saw the finish.
- 26:03Speaker 1: I did. I did.
- 26:05Speaker 2: When you're in a situation like that and your coach
- 26:09Speaker 2: kind of puts you in a situation where you probably
- 26:11Speaker 2: should win a game, at least go to overtime, and
- 26:14Speaker 2: they kind of mess up the clock management in the
- 26:18Speaker 2: way that he did, how does the locker room respond
- 26:20Speaker 2: to that?
- 26:21Speaker 1: Honestly, like, coaches don't have too much power. Right. Like,
- 26:26Speaker 1: at the end of the day, like, us players have
- 26:29Speaker 1: to take over the game plan. And, like, we have
- 26:32Speaker 1: to trust our abilities out there. And, like, the reason
- 26:34Speaker 1: why we're on the field is our coach trusts us
- 26:35Speaker 1: that we're going to be in the right situation at
- 26:37Speaker 1: the right time. At the end of the day, how
- 26:40Speaker 1: much time they had on the clock, like, as long
- 26:44Speaker 1: as the, like, and we're, like, okay, and let's not
- 26:48Speaker 1: get this wrong because there's a series that led up
- 26:50Speaker 1: to that event. which people like to skip too much.
- 26:55Speaker 1: The false start killed the drive. It did. You cannot
- 26:59Speaker 1: have false starts in the red zone. That's not coaching. Right.
- 27:02Speaker 1: That's player discipline. It kills you. You can't go from
- 27:07Speaker 1: the first and goal to now it's first and eight.
- 27:11Speaker 1: It's hard to get 10 yards in the NFL, especially
- 27:13Speaker 1: the red zone where everything's tight and condensed. Because you
- 27:16Speaker 1: don't have to respect too many routes. You're not backing up.
- 27:19Speaker 1: You're not just going to the end zone. Yeah. Yeah,
- 27:21Speaker 1: feet at the goal line. So, that hurts. Then it's
- 27:25Speaker 1: just the plays after that. Like.
- 27:28Speaker 2: The timeout was big. The timeout was like, yo, what
- 27:31Speaker 2: are we doing?
- 27:31Speaker 1: Yeah. That was big, too. But it's like, with 10,
- 27:36Speaker 1: 11 seconds on the clock, and it's third down, you
- 27:40Speaker 1: have your timer. Just take your looks. Like, I don't
- 27:45Speaker 1: think that was, like, so urgently. And then, like, give
- 27:50Speaker 1: them you leave seven seconds like that's my thing my
- 27:53Speaker 1: thing like that part was a little bit of bad
- 27:55Speaker 1: management but at the same time on a drop back
- 27:59Speaker 1: pass you had a chance to win the game with
- 28:00Speaker 1: ten seconds why not take it's not like you were
- 28:03Speaker 1: running for your life or like you just had to
- 28:06Speaker 1: get rid of it like there was pressure like that
- 28:10Speaker 1: like I didn't understand the waist down in that situation
- 28:12Speaker 1: like I don't think ten seconds on the clock and
- 28:14Speaker 1: they had a timeout.
- 28:15Speaker 2: Or no they did have a timeout that's the timeout
- 28:17Speaker 2: they used later With too much time on the clock
- 28:20Speaker 2: when they could.
- 28:20Speaker 1: Have let it run down. Did it have one timeout left? Yeah.
- 28:23Speaker 1: That's where I don't understand. Because it's not a waist-down situation.
- 28:28Speaker 2: I think the way he explained it. Like, where you
- 28:29Speaker 2: can't stop the clock. Yeah, he explained it pretty well,
- 28:31Speaker 2: kind of why he did it. But, yeah, it was–
- 28:33Speaker 2: I don't love it. Like, I want to touch on it.
- 28:36Speaker 1: Let's figure it out. Yeah. My thing is, like, if
- 28:38Speaker 1: you can stop the clock, what is the importance of
- 28:41Speaker 1: the field goal besides turnover? Yeah. Like, I get it.
- 28:44Speaker 1: Don't throw it across the middle. Don't put the ball
- 28:46Speaker 1: in jeopardy. Mm-hmm. but still have a chance to win
- 28:49Speaker 1: the game.
- 28:50Speaker 2: So are you going to be mad at your coach
- 28:51Speaker 2: at the conclusion of this game?
- 28:52Speaker 1: I'm not mad. I don't get mad at losses because
- 28:55Speaker 1: losses is learning points. Dak's going to get better from that.
- 28:59Speaker 1: Brian Schoenheimer's going to get learned from that. Like, you know,
- 29:03Speaker 1: experienced coach, you know, coming to second year, maybe a
- 29:09Speaker 1: bad decision or overcoaching point in a hostile environment, important
- 29:14Speaker 1: must-win game against, you know, a good AFC team, I
- 29:18Speaker 1: get it. It's a mistake, but it's probably not a
- 29:21Speaker 1: mistake that neither of them is going to make again. Yeah.
- 29:23Speaker 1: Especially if it's early in the year. Those type of
- 29:25Speaker 1: losses don't hurt you, especially because it's not really a
- 29:28Speaker 1: division matchup. So it's not too many.
- 29:31Speaker 2: Not too much riding on it, but you want to
- 29:32Speaker 2: win those games.
- 29:33Speaker 1: Yes.
- 29:33Speaker 2: Then we got another team that's struggling a bit, the Rams.
- 29:37Speaker 2: Not off to the greatest start. One and two. What
- 29:40Speaker 2: do you think about those guys?
- 29:43Speaker 1: Lost to a good Niners team, one of the best
- 29:45Speaker 1: teams in the league. And, you know, they kind of
- 29:48Speaker 1: got hosed last night, respectively.
- 29:53Speaker 2: Yeah, they had some unfortunate breaks.
- 29:56Speaker 1: Like, these are the games that, like, you're like, how
- 29:58Speaker 1: did we lose that game? Like, that was like our
- 30:01Speaker 1: Minnesota game. Like, penalty, penalty, penalty. That's what I'm saying. Like,
- 30:08Speaker 1: these are such costly penalties. Like, they're deciding games. They're
- 30:13Speaker 1: deciding games. Like, these have to be reviewed. Like, I
- 30:16Speaker 1: don't understand how, like, we're letting one man decide games. Bro,
- 30:22Speaker 1: it's hard to see everything on your one view. Like,
- 30:26Speaker 1: just review it. Real time. How fast... Things happen. Sometimes
- 30:32Speaker 1: when my kids are playing, I'm like, dang, what happened?
- 30:34Speaker 1: You don't see everything in real time. Even though you're
- 30:37Speaker 1: paying attention right there, it just happens.
- 30:40Speaker 2: So these teams, which one has the best chance of
- 30:42Speaker 2: making a playoff run?
- 30:44Speaker 1: They both do.
- 30:46Speaker 2: You got the Rams?
- 30:47Speaker 1: Yeah, they can still make a playoff run. The Cowboys? Yeah,
- 30:50Speaker 1: for sure. The Texans? Yeah.
- 30:51Speaker 2: What about the Patriots?
- 30:53Speaker 1: Ah. Ah. Did you see yesterday?
- 30:57Speaker 2: Drake May look like he was nearly in tears on
- 30:59Speaker 2: the sideline talking to Graves.
- 31:00Speaker 1: I'm not going to lie. You have high hopes for
- 31:05Speaker 1: those teams because of the QB play. He has to
- 31:07Speaker 1: play better. You cannot make a playoff run without your
- 31:10Speaker 1: quarterback playing at an elite level at the end of
- 31:13Speaker 1: the day.
- 31:14Speaker 2: He definitely can't lose you the game. And he's lost
- 31:17Speaker 2: a bunch of games. He has nine fumbles and ten
- 31:20Speaker 2: interceptions since the start of last preseason. That's ridiculous.
- 31:24Speaker 1: Yeah, but, you know, We've seen good football to him.
- 31:28Speaker 1: He got to go find his happy place.
- 31:31Speaker 2: So what's the difference between an elite player, elite play quarterback,
- 31:34Speaker 2: you know, making that run, and then a quarterback like
- 31:36Speaker 2: we talked about earlier who's just not.
- 31:38Speaker 1: Losing the game? You know, it's hard because sometimes they
- 31:43Speaker 1: can fall into the contents of the same side. Sometimes
- 31:47Speaker 1: your quarterback's just not hot. But sometimes, like, he's blazing hot.
- 31:52Speaker 1: So in a sense of if we look at it
- 31:54Speaker 1: like– Sometimes your quarterback can go throw for, you know what?
- 32:00Speaker 1: And the people say all the time, but Jalen Hurts,
- 32:02Speaker 1: the year they won the Super Bowl, all he had
- 32:04Speaker 1: to do was not lose him the game. And he
- 32:07Speaker 1: was throwing for a 180, 220. He didn't really have
- 32:11Speaker 1: to get into his toolbox. Now, have we seen big
- 32:14Speaker 1: games out of Jalen Hurts? 100%. We've seen him play
- 32:18Speaker 1: at elite level, make crazy throws, win games. Like you said,
- 32:22Speaker 1: he finds a way to win. But also he had
- 32:25Speaker 1: an elite defense that year where he was like, yo,
- 32:27Speaker 1: all I got to do is not turn the ball over.
- 32:28Speaker 1: My defense is going to carry me to the torch.
- 32:32Speaker 1: So I feel like that's where you can find that
- 32:36Speaker 1: line of like sometimes you get elite play, sometimes you
- 32:39Speaker 1: get that quarterback, just don't lose the game. Okay. And
- 32:42Speaker 1: that's coaching too. Hey, we got a lead. They can't
- 32:45Speaker 1: move the ball on our defense. Hey, let's manage the
- 32:47Speaker 1: clock a little bit. Let's, you know, like we– Our
- 32:51Speaker 1: defense got us. Like, let's just play smart. We don't
- 32:53Speaker 1: got to force plays, chunk plays. We're going to get
- 32:56Speaker 1: a rhythm soon, but we don't got to force it.
- 32:58Speaker 2: So, elite play can really look like just being a
- 33:00Speaker 2: really good game manager.
- 33:01Speaker 1: Yeah, for sure. And I think that's what, you know,
- 33:04Speaker 1: people were coming at Purdy for. But I think Purdy
- 33:06Speaker 1: has taken another step, too, this year.
- 33:09Speaker 2: He's continued to rise. So, of those four teams, can
- 33:12Speaker 2: you give me two you think are going to make
- 33:13Speaker 2: the playoffs?
- 33:15Speaker 1: Um... I'm going to say Rams is going to make
- 33:17Speaker 1: the playoffs. And who was the other three? We got
- 33:19Speaker 1: the Texans. We got the Cowboys.
- 33:21Speaker 2: We got the Patriots.
- 33:23Speaker 1: And I think the Cowboys can make the playoffs too.
- 33:26Speaker 2: I think the Texans. My other team for me is
- 33:27Speaker 2: going to be the Rams and the Texans. But I
- 33:30Speaker 2: can see it.
- 33:31Speaker 1: I'm not going to lie. If the Texans can't get
- 33:34Speaker 1: healthy and stay healthy for 14 more games, they just can't.
- 33:41Speaker 1: They don't have enough. At least– You know, last year,
- 33:47Speaker 1: you know, it was like their defense was playing so
- 33:51Speaker 1: crazy where it's like, all right, if it was 7-0, 10.
- 33:54Speaker 2: They can win the game.
- 33:55Speaker 1: They can win the game. But the defense has been
- 33:58Speaker 1: giving up, you know, 14-plus, 20-plus. So it depends if
- 34:04Speaker 1: that defense gets back to what it was.
- 34:06Speaker 2: Not the same team as last year. Got to talk
- 34:08Speaker 2: about the elephant in the room. We got the Packers.
- 34:12Speaker 1: They sit at 1-2. Mm-hmm.
- 34:14Speaker 2: We saw you on the sideline during the loss of
- 34:16Speaker 2: the Falcons, being super vocal with your teammates, looked like
- 34:19Speaker 2: you were really being a leader. What do those conversations
- 34:20Speaker 2: look like?
- 34:22Speaker 1: You know, I think just for me, it's like a
- 34:24Speaker 1: trust thing. You know, I have this thing, like, and
- 34:29Speaker 1: I've been telling people, like, I've been in such a
- 34:31Speaker 1: good place, like, mentally and spiritually. I just want to
- 34:35Speaker 1: be able to be an asset. Like, there's nothing that
- 34:40Speaker 1: I can gain from... not helping my teammates. You know
- 34:44Speaker 1: what I mean? But by helping them and letting them
- 34:46Speaker 1: grow and getting into the mind of like, hey, you
- 34:50Speaker 1: can be great and these are the things to look
- 34:53Speaker 1: out for, that's going to make them play better and
- 34:55Speaker 1: play faster. When I return, we're going to be playing
- 34:58Speaker 1: at such a united level. It's going to be like–
- 35:01Speaker 1: so I'm trying to still stay involved even though I
- 35:04Speaker 1: can't always be there.
- 35:05Speaker 2: So you're like on the sideline, like you're talking– right
- 35:08Speaker 2: now are you are you building that guy up on
- 35:10Speaker 2: the sideline or you tell them hey look out for
- 35:11Speaker 2: this look out for this this was coming yeah this
- 35:14Speaker 2: was coming look out for this this is what the
- 35:16Speaker 2: tackle is doing these are the cues i'm seeing from
- 35:18Speaker 2: the offense from this side of the ball they're running
- 35:21Speaker 2: here they're doing this this is what the pass sets
- 35:23Speaker 2: are this is how you can win and you know
- 35:26Speaker 2: i you know them guys are already so good like
- 35:30Speaker 2: we did so much that during camp in the offseason That,
- 35:33Speaker 2: you know, I just told Luke, Baron, BC, and the
- 35:36Speaker 2: rest of the guys, like, just go be free now.
- 35:38Speaker 1: Like, you are who you are. It's time to make
- 35:40Speaker 1: people pay. 100%. Like, it's time for you to get paid. Like,
- 35:43Speaker 1: I tell them, like, yo, I got paid. Like, I'm
- 35:47Speaker 1: not saying, like, you know, I'm not hungry because even
- 35:49Speaker 1: when I was, you know, got paid, I still had
- 35:51Speaker 1: a great year. But, like, I'm like, bro, I want
- 35:53Speaker 1: to see you get paid. Like, I want to see
- 35:56Speaker 1: you reach the highest success of your career. Let you
- 36:00Speaker 1: reach your goals, like. You know, for me, it's unlikely.
- 36:03Speaker 1: I'm coming back from an injury. I got to overcome
- 36:07Speaker 1: some things and then get back to the field. But,
- 36:09Speaker 1: you know, I think that's where I was able to
- 36:11Speaker 1: grow as a person and a leader is through the injury. Like,
- 36:16Speaker 1: being firsthand on seeing the coach's view and the player's
- 36:20Speaker 1: view and how can I help. This was the first year, like,
- 36:25Speaker 1: I was able to really, like, lock into each individual because, like,
- 36:30Speaker 1: you know– I'm going through my process. Like, I'm trying
- 36:33Speaker 1: to find ways for myself to get better. But this
- 36:35Speaker 1: was the first year I could really, like, find ways
- 36:37Speaker 1: for others to get better and find opportunities for others.
- 36:40Speaker 1: And it's been helping me grow, like, with my film study, like, players, relationships, coaching. Like,
- 36:49Speaker 1: I also found, like, a new passion for myself. Like,
- 36:51Speaker 1: I said, I want to be a coach when I'm done. Like,
- 36:53Speaker 1: not in NFL, though. You're going to high school? Like,
- 36:56Speaker 1: high school, yeah. But, like, I found a passion and
- 36:59Speaker 1: I really, like, found gratitude of coming in every day
- 37:01Speaker 1: and enjoying it. So, it's been fun.
- 37:04Speaker 2: We had two captains come out. X said, everybody needs
- 37:07Speaker 2: to calm their nerves. I understand it's week three. Stuff,
- 37:11Speaker 2: he used a different word, could look a lot different.
- 37:13Speaker 2: And then Tucker Craft comes out and lets people know
- 37:17Speaker 2: that we trust Matt, being Matt LaFleur. What are your
- 37:20Speaker 2: kind of thoughts on those two and what they're saying
- 37:22Speaker 2: in the media?
- 37:23Speaker 1: You know, they're basically just saying like, hey, we played bad.
- 37:28Speaker 1: They got the best of us and You know, we
- 37:30Speaker 1: got to trust our coaches and our leadership. That's the
- 37:33Speaker 1: best thing the players can do. You know, but also, like,
- 37:38Speaker 1: you know, we got to be a player-led unit and
- 37:40Speaker 1: we got to find a way to hold each other
- 37:42Speaker 1: accountable and bring the best out of each other in
- 37:44Speaker 1: the locker room also. You know, that's what the best
- 37:47Speaker 1: teams do. So, you know, I think everyone take the
- 37:51Speaker 1: loss on a chance and they're ready to go 1-0
- 37:54Speaker 1: this week. You know that's how the NFL is. You
- 37:56Speaker 1: got to go 1-0 every week. It doesn't matter who
- 37:58Speaker 1: you play.
- 37:58Speaker 2: If you guys are 2-2, it looks a lot different.
- 38:01Speaker 2: The thing that the fans want to know the most, though,
- 38:04Speaker 2: and you tell us as much as you can, is
- 38:06Speaker 2: there an injury update you can give us? Matt came
- 38:09Speaker 2: out and said you will not be at practice this week.
- 38:12Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah. Yeah, for sure. Just follow whatever Matt says.
- 38:15Speaker 2: Whatever Matt says is what it is.
- 38:16Speaker 1: Yeah, just follow whatever Matt says. I respect it. Hey,
- 38:20Speaker 1: that's a wrap. I want to thank you guys for
- 38:22Speaker 1: tuning in to The Edge. This has been another amazing episode.
- 38:24Speaker 1: I would like to thank Q Avery for coming in.
- 38:27Speaker 1: Dropping dimes, and also, I can't wait to see you
- 38:30Speaker 1: guys soon, on and off the field.
