- 1:11SPEAKER_00: Thank you for tuning in with me today.
- 1:13SPEAKER_00: Today I'm going to be answering your burning questions regarding creating an online course because I know that many of you may be thinking about creating an online course or wondering if an online course is right for your business, but maybe you have lots of questions which is stopping you from making a start.
- 1:35SPEAKER_00: I also think that we're at the end of 2022 now, and if you're anything like me, you're starting to plan for the year ahead.
- 1:44SPEAKER_00: And I think this is definitely an area to consider if you are looking to grow or scale next year.
- 1:53SPEAKER_00: So I would definitely consider online courses, and hopefully, the answers that I give you today will help you to decide whether or not it's right for you and your business.
- 2:06SPEAKER_00: Now, I get asked a lot of questions a lot of the time because it's quite a complex subject, and naturally, when you are looking to do something for the very first time, there are going to be questions, which is what has inspired me today to create this week's episode.
- 2:25SPEAKER_00: So I've got seven common questions that I'm going to share with you, and hopefully, this will provide some further clarity around online courses.
- 2:36SPEAKER_00: So let's dive in and we'll start with my very first question.
- 2:40SPEAKER_00: So, my very first question that I get asked a lot, believe it or not, is what is an online course?
- 2:48SPEAKER_00: Now, not everybody knows what an online course is, and I completely get that.
- 2:53SPEAKER_00: If you're not in this world and you don't live online, or maybe your profession is something completely different that doesn't require you to be on the computer all the time, then understanding what an online course is isn't obvious.
- 3:10SPEAKER_00: So I thought this is exactly where I'm going to start.
- 3:14SPEAKER_00: So for those of you who may not know exactly what an online course is, an online course is a self-study course that is delivered online via a third-party platform that students work through in their own time and at their own pace and from a location that works for them.
- 3:34SPEAKER_00: Now it helps to make learning both affordable and accessible so that students can either upskill.
- 3:42SPEAKER_00: So if they're looking to change careers or get a new job, they can learn new skills to facilitate with that, or they can simply learn new things about subjects they're interested in.
- 3:54SPEAKER_00: So it might be that they have a hobby that they want to learn about, or maybe they are an entrepreneur and they're looking to grow their business, in which case online courses are great because students can do it in their own home, at their own pace, and wherever they may be in the world.
- 4:12SPEAKER_00: So there's no restrictions around that.
- 4:15SPEAKER_00: Now, one of the great things about online courses is the convenience.
- 4:20SPEAKER_00: All you need is a mobile device or a computer and a Wi-Fi connection, and then you're good to go.
- 4:25SPEAKER_00: So you only need two things: no more having to trek into night school or college during the weekend to learn because now students can learn from the comfort of their own home.
- 4:38SPEAKER_00: Now, I shared my story very early on, I think it's episode two or three about the transformation that online courses provide.
- 4:47SPEAKER_00: But from my own perspective, online courses have really been a fundamental part of my own learning journey, not just as a course creator or a course teacher, if you like, but actually somebody that has taken a lot of courses in the past.
- 5:06SPEAKER_00: I used to have a very different career once upon a time in London where I was doing something completely different, and it was by taking courses that enabled me to really transform who I became because it gave me the knowledge, the skills, the insight, everything I needed to be able to make a huge shift and transformation in my life.
- 5:34SPEAKER_00: And I'm here today recording this because of that transformation.
- 5:39SPEAKER_00: So, from a student's perspective, courses can provide immense opportunity because it could be the thing that helps them to move forward and to go for the things that they want to go for in their life.
- 5:56SPEAKER_00: So, courses should not be underestimated in any way because the power of learning is incredible.
- 6:04SPEAKER_00: Now, when I did my learning and I went and learned the things that I needed to learn, I had to go into a night school.
- 6:13SPEAKER_00: I would do a full day at work, and bearing in mind I worked in London, I commuted home, which was over an hour there and back, and then of an evening after I'd done a full day at work, which was full on, I used to then go into night school to go and learn the subjects that I was learning.
- 6:31SPEAKER_00: And at the time I was learning all about design, so I was doing so many courses.
- 6:38SPEAKER_00: I was doing graphic design, visual thinking, typography design, anything and everything that I could do, I would go and do because I was building a portfolio for my future learning.
- 6:51SPEAKER_00: I later on went on, did a degree, left a career, and then I re-qualified if you like.
- 6:56SPEAKER_00: So for me, that period of time was really instrumental with moving me forward in terms of what I was looking to achieve for myself.
- 7:05SPEAKER_00: Now, as I said, I used to have to trek into night school and I used to go to the London College of Communication and Heavily School of Fine Arts.
- 7:15SPEAKER_00: So I would be in the centre of London having to go to these places and then not get back home until I mean at times I was on like the 11 o'clock train home and I would get in after midnight.
- 7:29SPEAKER_00: So I was doing that every week for a long period of time.
- 7:32SPEAKER_00: I think I did five years of night school to build my portfolio up, and then I did another three years where I left my career at that time and I went and did my degree, and that was another three years where I went into a university and I then got my degree.
- 7:49SPEAKER_00: But it's that act of having to do a day at work and then go into a place and then have to then go and learn and then go all the way home, which you know is tiring, it's exhausting, it's expensive, and that's why I feel like online courses provide this opportunity because it means that students don't have to do that, they don't have to go and find a college that does the course that they want to learn, and then have to go and attend and have to do that after a day at work.
- 8:23SPEAKER_00: So online courses provide this opportunity of convenience where you can do it in your own time, in your own pace, it from your own home.
- 8:34SPEAKER_00: Had there been courses available at the time that I was doing this, I would have been commuting into London, probably doing my courses because that's what it would have provided me with.
- 8:45SPEAKER_00: But unfortunately, it was a time that this wasn't really available, and so my only option was to go into night school.
- 8:54SPEAKER_00: Now, I'm glad I did that because it got me to where I am today.
- 8:58SPEAKER_00: However, I guess the point I'm trying to say is that's what online courses provide, it removes that barrier to entry where you have to kind of be around a college in easy commuting time to be able to attend.
- 9:15SPEAKER_00: A student can learn something that is recorded a hundred miles away, and it really doesn't matter because it's all distributed online, and so as long as they've got a computer or a mobile device and a Wi-Fi connection, then they're good to go.
- 9:29SPEAKER_00: So there is so much power in that, it's just incredible.
- 9:35SPEAKER_00: Now, for a business owner or an entrepreneur, this opens up huge opportunity because what it means is not only can you diversify what you offer to attract new clients, but you can also take that expertise and that knowledge that's been sitting in your head and make money from it without you having to be there every time.
- 9:58SPEAKER_00: So, again, there's a convenience element to it, you do it once and then you sell it on repeat.
- 10:04SPEAKER_00: It's also a really great way to support more people and scale your business.
- 10:09SPEAKER_00: So, if you found this year that your revenue is not quite where you want it to be, then maybe it's time to really drill down into your strategy of how you're going to get yourself and your business in front of more people.
- 10:26SPEAKER_00: And when you have a low-cost, high value offer, such as an online course, it makes everything so much easier because you've got something to offer right from the get-go.
- 10:38SPEAKER_00: So instead of you having to constantly work at full capacity and reaching your revenue ceiling if you're earning per client, online courses offer you that opportunity to scale.
- 10:52SPEAKER_00: Because as I said, you build it once you sell it on repeat.
- 10:56SPEAKER_00: Now, of course, with anything, there is work involved because you have to build the product, but actually, once you've done that, this model is great because it allows you to build that passive revenue, so it's going to make life so much easier for you going forward.
- 11:11SPEAKER_00: Now, the other thing to consider with online courses is that you always have an offer on the table that's ready to go.
- 11:18SPEAKER_00: So if you haven't capitalized on events like Black Friday where you can run promotions, then this becomes your ready-made revenue booster that you can then make money from.
- 11:33SPEAKER_00: So, online courses, lots of advantages for investing the time and creating them.
- 11:39SPEAKER_00: And hopefully that would have at least answered your question as to what online courses are.
- 11:45SPEAKER_00: So, what I will say before I move on to the next one is that if you haven't considered creating a course for your business, then really do think about creating one because it could just make that difference in terms of how your business scales going forward.
- 12:03SPEAKER_00: Okay, so question two How do I know if an online course is right for my business?
- 12:11SPEAKER_00: So I think many entrepreneurs and business owners see the value of creating an online course, but they don't quite know if it's right for their business.
- 12:21SPEAKER_00: However, in my opinion, I think that most businesses or entrepreneurs would benefit from having an online course in their arsenal because it's an easier thing to sell.
- 12:35SPEAKER_00: So if you are currently providing a premium service to your clients where you are having to be there to deliver that service in person, then you're going to be missing out on potential revenue because not everyone can afford to pay premium prices.
- 12:54SPEAKER_00: So creating a low-cost, high-value offer, such as an online course, gives you something to sell when customers don't have the money to invest directly in your services, which means that you're not missing out on the money that's on the table.
- 13:10SPEAKER_00: Now, this also benefits your customers because it means they still get access to you and what you have to offer, but it's just that they're receiving it in a slightly different way.
- 13:22SPEAKER_00: This then helps them to build a no, like, and trust with your business and with you so that when they are ready to press the go on your premium service, they're most likely going to be doing that with you.
- 13:37SPEAKER_00: So if you are wondering if you should spend time creating an online course, but you're not sure if you will get a return, then I want you to think about your current customer base and what it is you're currently offering.
- 13:52SPEAKER_00: I want you to ask yourself if what you have to offer can be automated.
- 13:58SPEAKER_00: So are you spending time repeating stuff all the time with new customers?
- 14:04SPEAKER_00: And can you provide a do-it-yourself version of that service?
- 14:10SPEAKER_00: So, for example, I come across a lot of social media consultants, and with social media, whilst the strategy may be different for individual businesses, the kind of high-level approach is the same.
- 14:27SPEAKER_00: So, how you may approach your real, how you may approach writing an article on Instagram, how you might approach running a Facebook page, so to speak.
- 14:37SPEAKER_00: Now, yes, these strategies change based on the entrepreneur and their goals, but actually the way you go about implementing them, there's a consistency there.
- 14:48SPEAKER_00: You know, if I create a reel, it's going to be very similar to maybe how somebody else approaches creating a reel.
- 14:55SPEAKER_00: So, with that, it can be automated because you don't have to be there every time to explain what a reel is to your customer.
- 15:04SPEAKER_00: That could be a mini course that you then provide them.
- 15:08SPEAKER_00: Now, once they've taken that mini course and they've learned all about reels and how it can help their business, then they're going to want to know more.
- 15:16SPEAKER_00: And who are they going to come to?
- 15:17SPEAKER_00: They're going to come to you because you're the person that's given them that training on how to create reels.
- 15:25SPEAKER_00: And hopefully, through your training, you would have provided them with a very specific result.
- 15:30SPEAKER_00: And it'll be that result that's going to lead to a transformation for them.
- 15:34SPEAKER_00: And it's that transformation they're going to want more of.
- 15:38SPEAKER_00: So you can use your online courses as a way to market additional services that you have in your business.
- 15:45SPEAKER_00: But what it does, and I think this is really incredibly important, it gives you time back because you do not need to be there to deliver that training over and over and over again.
- 15:57SPEAKER_00: It's giving you time to focus your energy on the stuff that's going to move your business forward.
- 16:03SPEAKER_00: So you're going to be able to spend more time in finding those customers to take your course as opposed to spending that time delivering the course.
- 16:14SPEAKER_00: And that's where the growth happens because your focus is going to shift to customer acquisition as opposed to just delivering to one customer at a time.
- 16:27SPEAKER_00: So can your offer be automated?
- 16:31SPEAKER_00: Can you provide a DIY option so that you can help your customers or clients do it for themselves?
- 16:39SPEAKER_00: Now, don't worry about the how at this stage.
- 16:42SPEAKER_00: The how comes later.
- 16:44SPEAKER_00: Just keep listening to the podcast.
- 16:46SPEAKER_00: But right now, I just want you to think about whether the support that you currently provide can be turned into a digital version.
- 16:56SPEAKER_00: Now, if it is a yes and that you can teach what you have to share in an online course, then of course it's right for your business.
- 17:04SPEAKER_00: The answer is a big, fat, juicy yes.
- 17:08SPEAKER_00: Now, if it's a no, because maybe you feel you need to be there in person to deliver a portion of the service, then maybe consider automating part of that process.
- 17:21SPEAKER_00: Or can you at least create a version that gets people started?
- 17:27SPEAKER_00: Now, sometimes it's easy to think that we have to be there in person because what we have to offer will not be any good if we're not part of that process.
- 17:38SPEAKER_00: But in reality, this may be a belief that you're holding on to to protect your ego.
- 17:45SPEAKER_00: So, what I would recommend is that you check in with yourself and you try and be really honest.
- 17:51SPEAKER_00: Now, if you're just a little bit fearful of the time that it's going to take or the work involved and what you're having to learn, then that's completely separate.
- 18:01SPEAKER_00: That can be dealt with separately.
- 18:03SPEAKER_00: But right now, I just want you to think about whether your business is right for an online course, and I want you to be really honest with that because we have a whole year ahead of us in 2023, and amazing things can happen.
- 18:21SPEAKER_00: And online courses do not take as much time as what you may think.
- 18:26SPEAKER_00: So I want you just to start with what that looks like for you and whether or not you can create an online course in your business.
- 18:37SPEAKER_00: Now that leads me really nicely on to my third question, which is how much time will it actually take?
- 18:46SPEAKER_00: Now I was talking to a colleague yesterday, we had a meetup because we're doing our planning for next year.
- 18:52SPEAKER_00: She originally came on one of my programs to learn how to create an online course.
- 18:56SPEAKER_00: And I just so happened to say to her that can you remember at the very beginning, and can you remember the questions that you actually had before you dived into the actual doing of creating an online course?
- 19:09SPEAKER_00: And actually, what she turned around and said to me, which I thought was really interesting, is she said, Yes, one of the questions I had in my head was, how much time is this going to take?
- 19:20SPEAKER_00: And then after doing the program and going through the process of creating an online course, it's this thing of how much will it actually take?
- 19:29SPEAKER_00: How much time will I actually spend?
- 19:32SPEAKER_00: Because I think for her, what she thought at the beginning and what she knows now is slightly different.
- 19:39SPEAKER_00: So this is a question that I wanted to address to give you a proper answer that gives you something tangible to work from.
- 19:49SPEAKER_00: So now I know time is something that many entrepreneurs struggle with.
- 19:55SPEAKER_00: I hold my hand up here.
- 19:57SPEAKER_00: Time is something that is a complete nemesis for me because I've got two young children, I'm running a business, I'm doing other things as well, and I'm always trying to maximize my time.
- 20:09SPEAKER_00: And I always find myself saying there's never enough time.
- 20:14SPEAKER_00: Now, I know firsthand that finding the time to work on online courses can be really tricky because you're not only you dealing with running a business, raising a family, and generally dealing with life to life, which in itself can be challenging.
- 20:31SPEAKER_00: However, what I also believe is that everyone has time.
- 20:37SPEAKER_00: We all have time.
- 20:38SPEAKER_00: You may not feel like you have time, but we all have the same 24 hours in a day, and really it just boils down to how you prioritize that time.
- 20:52SPEAKER_00: If you are looking to scale your business and generate more money, then it's going to be a priority of yours to create a compelling offer for your customers to buy.
- 21:03SPEAKER_00: That's going to be priority number one.
- 21:06SPEAKER_00: So, in order to do that, you need to find the time to do it because you're not going to do it without taking action, and action requires time.
- 21:15SPEAKER_00: So I think it really boils down to knowing what your goals are and what your priorities are so that you can assign the right amount of time to making those happen.
- 21:26SPEAKER_00: Now, if you're not connecting to those goals or even the vision that you have for yourself and your business, then you're never going to place a priority on getting something done because it's always going to fall under the heading of I'll do it later.
- 21:40SPEAKER_00: However, if you genuinely want to make more money in your business, how are you going to make that happen if you're putting everything under the heading of I'll do it later?
- 21:53SPEAKER_00: You're going to just get frustrated because six months down the line you're going to be no further forward.
- 21:58SPEAKER_00: So I think first and foremost.
- 22:00SPEAKER_00: When we're looking at time, we have to really connect it with what we're looking to achieve and ask ourselves: do we have the time to focus on it?
- 22:09SPEAKER_00: And if we don't have the time, it's perfectly understandable because there may be other priorities that sit ahead of creating the thing that you're thinking about creating.
- 22:21SPEAKER_00: However, if it is down to I really need to make more money because the cost of living is going up, we're at a time when we're getting less for our money, so we need to make more money, then it may be that creating compelling offers for your business takes that priority.
- 22:39SPEAKER_00: So, first and foremost, I just wanted to share that with you because that then influences how you see time.
- 22:47SPEAKER_00: Now, in terms of a time frame, this then depends and is influenced on how much time you put aside to be available for your online course.
- 22:59SPEAKER_00: However, if I was talking in general terms, I would say that if you were to commit yourself to getting your course done, then you can have it done and dusted, ready to be sold in 12 weeks.
- 23:12SPEAKER_00: So there you have it.
- 23:13SPEAKER_00: I'm putting a time frame on that is completely doable.
- 23:17SPEAKER_00: You can create your online course within a 12-week time frame.
- 23:22SPEAKER_00: Now, the caveat with this is that you need to be putting time aside to work on it, and what I always recommend is small consistent steps get you to your end goal.
- 23:36SPEAKER_00: And what I mean by that, because I think we need to have something tangible to work to, if you were to put aside an hour a week, then you can meet your goal.
- 23:49SPEAKER_00: So as you dive into creating your online course and you're getting more and more involved, you may decide to increase that time.
- 23:57SPEAKER_00: However, if you were to dedicate one hour a week, you would move the needle in your online course.
- 24:07SPEAKER_00: So if you are thinking about creating an online course but you're worried that it's going to take too much time, then consider starting with a mini course, which is a relatively short course, which introduces your students to the thing that you want to teach them.
- 24:26SPEAKER_00: What this does, this gives you an opportunity to achieve a quick win, but it doesn't take ages to create.
- 24:37SPEAKER_00: And if you were to mark that out in your diary as a non-negotiable, then you will get your course done.
- 24:44SPEAKER_00: So what I recommend is that if you're thinking about creating an online course, align it to the goals of your business, connect to why you're doing it, and then if you decide that this is something you want to do, then create a plan.
- 24:59SPEAKER_00: Map out one hour a week, give yourself a time frame, and then just focus that hour a week on your online course, and then before you know it, you'll have it created.
- 25:10SPEAKER_00: Now, my question number four is I could teach so many things.
- 25:16SPEAKER_00: How do I choose just one topic to teach?
- 25:21SPEAKER_00: So, again, this is something that many entrepreneurs say to me because often we have so many things that we can teach, and this just comes down to the amount of hats that we're wearing in our business.
- 25:34SPEAKER_00: We have to be everything to everyone, and so because of that, we're learning new skills, and therefore we have these skills that we can then teach.
- 25:43SPEAKER_00: Now, my advice here would be to think about what you want to be known for.
- 25:48SPEAKER_00: What do you want people to know you for in your industry?
- 25:52SPEAKER_00: Who do you want to work with, and what do you enjoy teaching?
- 25:56SPEAKER_00: And then I would focus on choosing a topic that you know that you have credibility in delivering because you know that you've achieved results, you've helped others, and you're confident in teaching this.
- 26:11SPEAKER_00: Now, I would always align your teaching to what matters to you.
- 26:15SPEAKER_00: So, for example, I teach online courses because I am an entrepreneur building my own business, and I feel passionate about helping other female entrepreneurs scale their businesses by creating online products.
- 26:30SPEAKER_00: So it makes absolute sense that this is an area that I teach.
- 26:35SPEAKER_00: So when you're deciding on what to teach for your topic, align it to what matters to you.
- 26:41SPEAKER_00: If you want to learn more or listen to more about this particular subject, then check out episode eight because I dive into this in a little bit more detail.
- 26:52SPEAKER_00: So, question number five, and this is a big one, so I really wanted to share this today.
- 26:58SPEAKER_00: I hate tech.
- 27:00SPEAKER_00: Will I have to learn lots of new things?
- 27:04SPEAKER_00: Now, I have spoken to so many people about the fact that tech is just their nemesis.
- 27:10SPEAKER_00: They hate it, they hate learning new things.
- 27:13SPEAKER_00: It's not their bag, it's not their jam, they don't want to do it.
- 27:17SPEAKER_00: And because online courses require tech, it can be something that really turns them off of getting started.
- 27:26SPEAKER_00: So here's the thing there is tech involved with creating online courses, however, it's not as much as what you may think.
- 27:35SPEAKER_00: Now, like anything, you can use tools and apps to make your life easier, but you can be using so many tools that just simply overcomplicate the process.
- 27:45SPEAKER_00: There are some key tools that are needed to deliver, to create and deliver your course, because it is online.
- 27:54SPEAKER_00: However, you can keep it as simple and as streamlined as what you want.
- 28:00SPEAKER_00: So I would say that all you really need to create an online course is a mobile device or a laptop or a computer.
- 28:07SPEAKER_00: So you need something that you can create your content with, a third-party platform, like a learning management system.
- 28:16SPEAKER_00: This is where you would then host your course and then deliver it, and then maybe something to take payments because you want to get paid for that course.
- 28:26SPEAKER_00: Now, in your entirety of tech, I would say that that would be enough to get you started.
- 28:35SPEAKER_00: If you are looking to create a course that really truly engages your students, then I would also probably include a tool called Canva.
- 28:43SPEAKER_00: Canva is a design tool that makes it really easy to create beautiful visuals and resources that will help to enhance your students' learning experience.
- 28:54SPEAKER_00: So if I had to stretch to a fourth tool, then I would say Canva.
- 28:59SPEAKER_00: But really, that's all you need.
- 29:02SPEAKER_00: So it can be as simple or as complex as what you want to make it.
- 29:06SPEAKER_00: Now, if you want to find out more about third-party platforms and how to deliver your course, then check out episode 19 because I dive into this in more detail.
- 29:17SPEAKER_00: But in terms of the tech that you need to get started, the four pieces of tech that I've covered are ample.
- 29:27SPEAKER_00: So, question number six how do I price my course?
- 29:32SPEAKER_00: Now, this is a biggie because we want to make money and it starts with our pricing strategy.
- 29:38SPEAKER_00: So it's not always easy to know how much to sell your course for, and there isn't one rule fits all.
- 29:45SPEAKER_00: But what I will say is there is a guide price, but it does depend on the type of course that you're creating.
- 29:52SPEAKER_00: Now, a guide price for a mini course is about£100 to£300.
- 29:57SPEAKER_00: However, the caveat there is the final price will depend ultimately on the value that you provide your students.
- 30:07SPEAKER_00: Now, what I would do is I would refrain from pricing your course really cheaply and going for the like seven pound option because you know it just gives off the wrong impression.
- 30:20SPEAKER_00: If you sell something cheap, then it's gonna look cheap, or it's certainly going to give your customer a perceived idea of what your course is like.
- 30:30SPEAKER_00: So if you're selling it cheap, then your customers might just simply think that your course is no good and you just want to sell something to make money, hence, they may avoid it.
- 30:39SPEAKER_00: I think it's a far smarter strategy to price your course on the more premium side as long as you know that it delivers the results that you're promising and that it adds a ton of value to your students' life.
- 30:52SPEAKER_00: The other thing I would say about pricing is that pricing can be tweaked at any time.
- 30:58SPEAKER_00: So it's not I'm gonna choose a price now and I have to stick with it.
- 31:02SPEAKER_00: You can change this at any time.
- 31:04SPEAKER_00: So you can play around with different price points.
- 31:08SPEAKER_00: You can always put your course out there, see how it's received, and then tweak your price accordingly.
- 31:14SPEAKER_00: So it doesn't have to be that you know you're gonna go for a high price, you make no sales, and that's it, nobody's ever gonna buy your course.
- 31:23SPEAKER_00: Often what the pricing comes down to is how you market it and the messaging that you use, and of course, making sure that it's put in front of the right people.
- 31:33SPEAKER_00: If you get all of those components right, then you will sell your course.
- 31:37SPEAKER_00: But I think when it comes down to pricing, having a really good pricing strategy is a smart move.
- 31:43SPEAKER_00: So you can increase or reduce your cost at any time, it's not a one-time thing.
- 31:49SPEAKER_00: But if you want to know more about this, then I recommend you check out episode 20 because I go into this in more detail.
- 31:59SPEAKER_00: Okay, my final question: how will I sell my online course?
- 32:05SPEAKER_00: Now, when I start working with clients, this is something that I think definitely comes up at the beginning.
- 32:12SPEAKER_00: There is often a block or a story or a belief that sits there where my clients struggle to see how they can sell their online courses.
- 32:24SPEAKER_00: So if you are thinking nobody is going to buy my course, I'm not gonna make money from it, it's gonna be a waste of time.
- 32:31SPEAKER_00: Then what I want you to think about is that there are so many ways to get your course out there into the world and in front of your customers.
- 32:41SPEAKER_00: Now, what's important is that you create a strategy, and a strategy is something that you can work with that will essentially underpin all your efforts.
- 32:53SPEAKER_00: Now, when I speak to clients and they're a little bit fearful about the launch stage and selling their course, it's often because they're not working to a strategy in their business.
- 33:04SPEAKER_00: Everything is on the fly, they have an idea in their head on what they need to be doing, but they're not really putting things down in stone, they're not really figuring out the sort of milestones and the key things they need to be thinking about in order to achieve those sales.
- 33:19SPEAKER_00: Now, when you're stepping into the world of products and especially online products, a strategy is going to be what supports your efforts.
- 33:29SPEAKER_00: Now, understanding what your goals are are important, but then working out how you're going to achieve those goals is equally important, if not more so, because that's going to be your roadmap.
- 33:43SPEAKER_00: That's going to be the thing that moves you to the place that you want to get to.
- 33:49SPEAKER_00: Now, a strategy doesn't have to be super extensive, it doesn't have to be this thing that has so many things to it that just results in overwhelm.
- 34:00SPEAKER_00: It can be something really simple that just gives you an idea on what you need to do to get those sales.
- 34:10SPEAKER_00: Now, by creating a strategy or a launch plan, which some people call it, you'll be able to know exactly how you're going to achieve those sales because you'll have a plan in place that you're going to follow.
- 34:23SPEAKER_00: And with that, you're going to feel far more confident about making those sales.
- 34:29SPEAKER_00: Now, as I said, there are many ways to sell your online courses.
- 34:32SPEAKER_00: There are so many strategies out there.
- 34:35SPEAKER_00: You can sell through using conversion events such as webinars, workshops, challenges, or you can just create a really simple sales funnel that sits on your website.
- 34:47SPEAKER_00: I think what is important is that you create a vision for what you're looking to achieve, and then you set your goals so that you have something in place you can measure, and then you decide on the strategies that you're going to use, and then you create a plan that you're then going to follow to bring all of those to fruition.
- 35:10SPEAKER_00: Now, of course, as with most things, there is work involved.
- 35:15SPEAKER_00: However, how much work is going to be entirely down to you.
- 35:20SPEAKER_00: When you started your business, there was work involved.
- 35:24SPEAKER_00: There were so many things that you had to think about, but you did it.
- 35:28SPEAKER_00: You're here today listening to this podcast because you are running a business, you are an entrepreneur, you are making money from selling something that comes from your heart and comes from your soul.
- 35:41SPEAKER_00: And that took time, it took energy, it took effort.
- 35:45SPEAKER_00: And that's exactly the same with creating an online course or a digital product or creating a plan and a strategy.
- 35:52SPEAKER_00: Anything worth having requires effort, but the results and the stuff that you get from spending that time and energy is worth it because you get to build the life that you ultimately want to live.
- 36:08SPEAKER_00: And that's what we are as entrepreneurs.
- 36:10SPEAKER_00: We're building out our ideal life because we don't want to conform to how other people want us to be, we want to make it happen for ourselves, and that's why I love being an entrepreneur because I get to do all of this stuff and I get to help and support others in their growth.
- 36:31SPEAKER_00: So if you are worrying about the time, the effort, the energy that's going to be required from you to make this happen, then I just want you to think back of what starting your business meant to you and what it gave you as well.
- 36:46SPEAKER_00: Because I suspect you running your business has been life-changing, it's been life-given because it's made you feel more in control and it's giving you that freedom that you desired to create this thing for yourself, and that's what this is as well.
- 37:04SPEAKER_00: It's just another route to market that's going to help you make more money so you can build the life that you actually want for yourself.
