- Daniel: Clint, welcome back, Talking Dogs, another episode, Clint: Ooh Yes, sir. Daniel: another week. Georgia got a big matchup against Ole Miss this week. A rematch of the Sugar Bowl, except Well, most of the Clint: It's not. Daniel: p most of the people are not there anymore. Clint: Yeah. Daniel: Peter Golding is still there. Clint: Peter Golding, old Petey, old Petey Pooh, Daniel: How's that going, old miss? You got the better coach is what I was told. Clint: the curls and the hoodie. This is this is my kind of coach. Well Daniel: All I'm telling you is that you told me he was the better coach. Is that still is that still true? Clint: Your words, not ours. LSU has a top three rush offense, top three pass offense, top top ten rush defense, top fifteen pass defense. Daniel: Well but you have a defensive minded head coach, so your defense oldness is still probably pretty good. Is that accurate? Clint: Hundred and third in the nation. Daniel: One hundred and third, you say? Clint: Yeah. Yeah. Daniel: I take it back. That's really poor, oldness. I d I am just learning that that is Clint: That y I I don't wanna call you a liar, but it feels like we just did. Daniel: That is poor. It's quite poor. I Clint: Quite more. Daniel: could have I could have had him inside the top 100 in a week. I could have done it. Clint: Could have done it in a week. Daniel: Umle Miss is. Yeah. Are you gonna make the playoff? That's the question I'm asking. It's are you gonna make the Clint: They're bad. It Daniel: playoff? Clint: when you lose this old this week, old miss. Daniel: I would you better win on Saturday if you're gonna make the playoff. You understand? Clint: The you Daniel: It's tough. Let's start right there, Clint, because the premise, as I'm sure you saw as you if you read the title of this video, the premise of what we're talking about today is that there is no team in college football that has the ceiling Clint: No. Daniel: that Georgia does. I'm not saying Georgia is the only team that can win the national championship. Clint: That's not what we're saying. Daniel: But I am saying Georgia is one of a very few teams that can win the national championship, A. Clint: It it's we're gonna talk about maybe four or five. Daniel: And then B, Georgia's ceiling is higher than even any of those teams. Like, you understand what I'm saying? Clint: Any of those teams. Daniel: Georgia's ceiling is dominate every game on the schedule, including in the playoff for the duration of this college football season. That's Georgia's ceiling. No one else has that ceiling. No one else is going to approach it. Clint: Yes. Yep. Yes. No, no one else has this. And and let's start by talking about what like the range by which kind of the the basement where we are at currently performing and where we could be if all things worked well, and then we'll compare them to the other teams. Let's start Daniel: Yeah. Clint: with defense. I this is the best pass rushing unit in the entire nation. And that's not potential, that's fact. We Daniel: Yes. Clint: Factually speaking, we are the best at havoc rates, QB pressures and QB sacks with a percentage that we go up against, everything adjusted Daniel: Mm-hmm. Clint: in the entire nation. We got the dudes, the skill, and Larry Knight, I I don't know what they're paying you. Daniel: not enough. Clint: But after the season, just Daniel: Yeah. Clint: sit in Kirby you be there in the morning when he gets in. Okay. Daniel: Do you understand? You're Chris Sale now, Larry Knight. You're Chris Sale now. Clint: You get there before the lights go on. And just don't say a word. Just hit the film. And just Kamari Daniel: Just turn. Clint: Brooks. J just just and and then put the remote down and stare at Kirby and watch the money flooding because Larry Knight is doing things for this defense that we are so thrilled for. That's number one. Number two, this running attack. Or I'm sorry, the the rush defense as well. Yeah. It it is a it is a stone-cold wall. That defensive line. Daniel: The the only time this rush defense is looks look suspect is against Byron Brown and Auburn in that spot. And again, maybe it wasn't the spot. Maybe Georgia suddenly got bad on defense, and then they Clint: Maybe. Sure. Daniel: s miraculously figured it out going up against a healthy Jaden ball in Florida. And then they'll be bad again. Is that what you're banking on? Clint: There it is. Maybe that's the case. could be the nope, I'm banking on the one outlier not being Daniel: Anomaly. Clint: anomaly. passing attack, offense. We've seen us put up huge explosiveness. We're still number three in explosiveness, still number two in points. The one of the b top three teams in points per possession, points per drive in all of college football, not just the SEC. And then running attack. Like Nate Frazier healthy again. Our ceiling just turned into the most dominant running team in the SEC with Nate Frazier healthy and the emergence Daniel: Yeah. Clint: of Dwight Phillips. We could be the preeminent running attack in the SEC with that. So our defense and Daniel: Yeah, and and the offensive line, Clinton. In this Clint: Thank you. Daniel: offensive line, who is absolute man eaters. Clint: So we could be the n now with the with the emergence of Dwight Phillips and Nate Frazier back healthy. We could just churn out again how what rank are we yards per rush, Daniel, in the nation? What fourth? Daniel: let me yeah, let me pull it up. Let me get the let me get the most recent data here. it's eighth. Clint: I think it was fourth in the nation. Okay. But r Daniel: Georgia's currently eighth in yards per rushing attempt nationally. That's number one in the SEC, number eight nationally in yards per carry. Clint: Ball security, yep. Had again one anomaly. Ball hawking ability, yep, we've shown that. again, we there is just time after time after time. We Daniel: Uh-huh. Clint: could be dominant in all of those phases I just listed. And it's because and we're Daniel: Mm-hmm. Clint: producing even even the passing game, even the explosiveness that people want to talk about. Fine, let's say we're lagging in that. Is lagging third most points per possession in the entire nation, eighth in yards per carry? And you want to say, well, passing yards, okay, fine. Let's say our passing is out, let's say we get back to what Gunner was doing, that 282 on 12 attempts, whatever it was before. Daniel: Yeah. Clint: our ceiling is we can beat you anyway and dominate you on defense in literally any way. Daniel, can you name a team that has in their bag, in their arsenal, to be the best in all of those categories I just laid out in their conference even? Daniel: No. No no. you look at the you look at the offensive numbers, Georgia's top ten in third down efficiency, in third down conversion rate. Georgia's ranked fourth in the country in average scoring margin. Playing in the SEC week in and week out, fourth nationally in average scoring margin. This offense puts up ridiculous numbers. The defense is Elite on all levels. You said it. Gunnar Stockton has an off game. We dominate our opponent and win by 20 plus points. in a bad game for Gunnar Stockton against Florida. Yeah. Clint: quote unquote bad. Right. Right. Daniel: that's that's Georgia on an off day. They just have the ability to absolutely eviscerate you in so. Clint: So let's talk about Daniel: many ways. Let's talk about some other teams though around college football. Clint, let's do a little exercise. Let's go back and forth and name teams that somebody is going to bet on to win the national championship that has not a small chance to win it, but listen closely. A team that has zero chance to win the national championship. But that some idiot thinks is gonna win it, I'll allow you to go first. You can have your pick of the litter here. Clint: Well they're they're gonna say either combination of Old Miss or Texas. Whoever which one of they're Okay, Daniel: bo how about both? Clint: great. I was gonna say one of them's gonna get in the playoffs, one of them's Daniel: yeah, so they don't have a chance to win one of them's not gonna have a chance to win the national championship because they're not gonna be in the college football playoff. Clint: So I'm saying one of them will have three losses and we'll we'll get in. Daniel: But guess what? Neither of them have a chance to win the national championship. Like Clint: Zero percent chance. Daniel: zero percent chance. Arch Manning, Trinidad Chambliss, zero percent chance. Do you know why? Because half teams don't win the national championship, Clint. Clint: It is. Daniel: You can't win it if you're a half team. And guess what, Texas? You a half team. Clint: See that Texas and Oklahoma are the two defenses that can say they're similar to Georgia, but they have nothing similar on offense. Okay. Daniel: Yep. Nothing at quarterback. Nothing on offense. Ole Miss, the exact opposite. You can score some points, Ole Miss. You a half team. Half teams aren't going to win a national championship. Clint: Can't stop nobody. Yep. No. Daniel: real quick, I don't, we don't need to belabor the point. Ohio State, you're not gonna win the national championship. It's done. We're finished. You're finished. That's it. Clint: The the not the bounty man, but the Charmin man. Okay, he's not he's not the same lumberjack looking guy with a flannel. Okay, it's a teddy bear Daniel: No Clint: that's soft. USC just took it to you and ran d down your gullet. Daniel: Yep. Alabama and LSU, neither teams can win the national championship. Neither team can win the national. Clint: Sam Levitt will throw three interceptions in a playoff game, and Alabama won't be able to stop anybody and then they will sputter in the red zone and kick may not make the playoff. Daniel: May not make the playoff. May not make the playoff. Period. Okay. who's next on your list? Team that will not win the national championship. Cannot win the national championship. Clint: Kentucky, you're a great story. Will Daniel: it's a fun story. Clint: I I think Will was a great hire. I don't mean to beat my chest. I Daniel: Of course he was a good hire. Clint: I said before the season, Kentucky is going to go ahead and ruin a bunch of people's season. They're gonna have a great season. I took the over on win total for Kentucky. Hello, Cash. Daniel: cash money. Clint: but Kentucky's not winning the national championship. Daniel: No, neither's UCLA. Best two hires this offseason in all of college football. And I am including Clint: Correct. Daniel: you, LSU. The best two hires in all of college football were made by UCLA and Kentucky, and it's a wide gap before we even begin discussing Lane Kiffin. Clint: I'm glad Texas Tech has oil in their booster program. Daniel: We're gonna need to buy another team. Clint: W whole nother team. Cause Daniel: 'Cause this team ain't gonna win the national championship. I'm glad Indiana has a trophy in their trophy case because this team Clint: no. Daniel: is fraudulent, Clint. They got a good coach. I have Clint: They have a very good coach. Daniel: finished listing good things about Indiana. I I guess the pass Clint: And he Daniel: rush is okay. Clint: they're their pass r and their their their run defense is pretty good. Daniel: Indiana ain't winning the national tournament. This is the most fraudulent team in college football right now, is Indiana. Clint: Indiana's the most hyped, they are thought of as elite, but they are one and a half tiers below that. Daniel: I neither and this listen, it it might be the game of the year. It might be the game of the year in college football. Clint: This one sucks. It will be at in the morning. Yeah. If you don't know about this game this Saturday, just Daniel: But no participants in the Holy War are gonna win the national championship this year. None. Utah, great story. You have additioned by subtraction, haven't you? At coach, at head coach. Michigan called and they want to send him back. But you're doing just fine. but Utah's not winning a national championship. BYU, certainly not winning a national championship. Clint: No. Daniel: Even though one of those teams will definitely be in the playoff, both of those teams could be in the playoff. Clint: Think both I think both will. Daniel: Clint, I Clint: So that leaves essentially three to four teams. Daniel: I have three teams on my list, Clint. Do you have a fourth? I have three teams Clint: I Daniel: on my list. Clint: I'm adding a fourth only because of talent and pure hate filled angst getting them a shot. Daniel: Hate filled angst is being used as rationale. Okay. Clint: It's two and a half percent. Two and a half percent that they win the college football championship. It Daniel: Okay. Clint: might be less than that, maybe one percent. But because of what we just ran through, because of how fraudulent the field is. Daniel: The field is it's a bad year to take the field. Clint: Which is why I think LSU could make a national championship run in the playoff. I I don't I'm not gonna bet on them, but of all the other teams, I would I would trust them more than Daniel: Yeah. I I guess I guess hypothetically they could. what if if you said LSU Clint: than Texas, I would trust them more than Alabama, I would trust them more than Ohio State, I would trust them more than Utah. I don't trust them, trust them. Daniel: What you just said what you just said is US C could make a national championship run. That's what you just said. Clint: And had USC taken care of business against Oregon? Daniel: Against freaking Wisconsin. Clint: Against Wisconsin? USC could be in the playoff. I don't think they will now. That's on you. They are half team. Daniel: They're a half team. They're a half team. They're more of a half team. LSU's less of a half team than any of those other teams. To me, it's three teams. This is this Clint: Yes. I and these are the strongest three. Daniel: is Georgia, Miami, and Notre Dame, and it's in that order. Clint: Yes. Daniel: And I think Notre Dame is gonna beat Miami this week, and ask me after that game, and I'm gonna tell you it's Georgia, Miami, and Notre Dame in that order. I still think Miami Clint: being at home helps. Daniel: has a better shot at winning the national championship, even though I think Notre Dame is going to beat Miami this weekend and secure their spot in the playoff. Both those teams are definitely gonna be in the playoff. The ACC officials would never allow Miami to miss the playoff. They have I Clint: Never. No. Daniel: mean Clint. Clint: How many extra plays do you get? Daniel: I don't have to tell you. North Carolina recovered two straight onside kicks with a chance to win that game. They recovered two straight onside kicks. And the ACC refs were like, nah, we can't. We can't Clint: They got the buzzer. Daniel: do it. The week before, Florida State caught a Hail Mary. And the A C C refs were like, No, no, no, Clint: Nope, can't Daniel: no, not Miami. No, we can't we can't do that to Clint: Two games back to back that Miami should have lost. Daniel: Should have lost. The ACC refs literally carried them Clint: Interesting. Daniel: into the game. I Miami and Notre Dame are both deeply flawed teams. Clint: Yeah, well they Miami has probably what I would consider the best quarterback in all of college football right now and one of the Daniel: Mm-hmm. Clint: best wide receivers. Daniel: Yeah. Yeah. second best wide receiver in college football. Clint: I'm stretching for a third strength they have. Daniel: you're going to a third guy. Fletcher at running back is is great. He's very talented. He's great. Clint: He's he's good. Yeah. Yeah. Daniel: Miami does not have it on the lines of scrimmage like they have in years past. They are simply just not built the same way as they were. Georgia would push that offensive line around. They Clint: Feels Daniel: would be in Mince's pocket all game long. I'm telling you, Clint. There are no Christopher Coles running around in other conferences. There Clint: Zero. Daniel: are no Chris Coles out there for teams to get a scout on. Clint: No Ellis Robbins is KJ Bolton might have a might have somebody similar to Notre Dame and my but Notre Dame feels like the opposite of Miami, by the way. Good trenches, Daniel: Yeah. Clint: stout guys, but playmakers and QB and Daniel: CJ Carr might not be it. Clint: it's not good. Daniel: He might not be it. I I those are the teams that can win the national championship. I I fear almost no one in this college football playoff. Almost no Clint: Get us Daniel: one. Clint: get to the bracket, people. Daniel: Ki please. Let's just Clint: again, we're this weekend's gonna be telling. We're gonna learn a whole bunch. We anticipate I I anticipate Georgia to win, but even if not. Give me to the playoff and let's let's let it ride out. Daniel: Jo Georgia will make the college football playoff even with a loss in this game. And it it will not do a lot to change my my thoughts about this Georgia team. Again, college football fans, this is the world that we live in. Clint: It is. Daniel: One loss, two loss, three loss national Clint: Right. Daniel: champions. If you don't like it, I don't know what to tell you. You we're d we're done with anything else. Clint: And the b baseball's going on a strike, so Daniel: So it's the it's this in college basketball. Clint: That's it. Daniel: Or you're gonna have to become an NBA fan. And I don't know what to tell you about hating your life, but that ain't what Clint: Get out. Daniel: I would be doing. No. He's Clint. I'm Daniel. Make sure you're subscribed.
