- 0:36Speaker 2: Chill Everger fits you Alconiski in the booth at Saint Louis.
- 0:41Speaker 2: I'll join you from Network Central or covers of course,
- 0:44Speaker 2: all across the Global Credit Union Kraken Audio Network. Well
- 0:48Speaker 2: the Crack and trying to bounce back from a six
- 0:51Speaker 2: to one defeat of the San Jose Sharks, a loss
- 0:53Speaker 2: that left plenty in disappointment, as the Crack in right
- 0:57Speaker 2: now carrying a record. Nonetheless, at six three and four,
- 1:01Speaker 2: they occupy third place in the Pacific Division and still
- 1:05Speaker 2: three points back of the surging Anaheim Ducks, who have
- 1:07Speaker 2: won five in a row and sit atop the division.
- 1:11Speaker 3: They're up against Saint Louis.
- 1:12Speaker 2: The Krack and heard of this evening, who have been
- 1:13Speaker 2: struggling at five eight and two with twelve points on
- 1:17Speaker 2: the campaign. And we'll talk a little more about the
- 1:19Speaker 2: Blues coming up in just a bit, who now come
- 1:22Speaker 2: home after a victory on the road against the Buffalo Sabers.
- 1:26Speaker 2: Well here from Jaden Schwartz, the former Blues ford to
- 1:28Speaker 2: now fifth season of course on the Kraken side, as
- 1:31Speaker 2: he met with the media after practice on Thursday and
- 1:34Speaker 2: what was a very spirited and high paced practice as well.
- 1:37Speaker 2: Plus Ian Fornest TV host and the Krack and Hockey
- 1:40Speaker 2: Network and you can hear him one to three pm
- 1:42Speaker 2: weekdays ninety three three KJARFM. Ian and I will talk
- 1:46Speaker 2: about potentially Riiker Evans, when will he be back, where
- 1:50Speaker 2: does he fit in, plus the goaltending picture and Berkeley
- 1:54Speaker 2: Catton's outlook with Game nine looming, whenever he gets in
- 1:58Speaker 2: an important decision potentially awaits his future should he play
- 2:03Speaker 2: in Game nine coming up here for this weekend. Well,
- 2:06Speaker 2: flashing back to Wednesday, it was one to forget on
- 2:09Speaker 2: the Kraken side. Six to one, they dropped a loss
- 2:11Speaker 2: to the San Jose Sharks. It was the first home
- 2:14Speaker 2: loss for the Kraken in regulation this season and closing
- 2:17Speaker 2: out a relatively successful five game homestand at two to
- 2:21Speaker 2: one and two. Macklin celebrating led the way he is
- 2:25Speaker 2: surging right now in his nineteen year old campaign as
- 2:27Speaker 2: one of the league's leading point getters. He had a
- 2:30Speaker 2: three point night and scored a little over a minute
- 2:33Speaker 2: into the game. The Sharks eventually hit the proverbial gas
- 2:36Speaker 2: early in period three, scoring three goals in a span
- 2:40Speaker 2: of two minutes and fifty two seconds from Will Smith,
- 2:43Speaker 2: tied Delandria and Tyler Tofoley all around. Joey Decor leaving
- 2:48Speaker 2: early from the game, replaced by Matt Murray after forty
- 2:51Speaker 2: three minutes and fourteen seconds in net a moment though
- 2:54Speaker 2: happening where a Krack and Ford could savor it. Ryan
- 2:57Speaker 2: Winterton picked up his first career NHL goal that came
- 3:00Speaker 2: at the sixteen thirty mark of period one as he
- 3:03Speaker 2: beat Erroslav Askarov to tie the game. Ryan Winterton on
- 3:08Speaker 2: the board for his first career NHL goal. Heading into
- 3:12Speaker 2: this weekend, the Kraken have a couple of questions as
- 3:14Speaker 2: far as their roster. First off, the pending return of
- 3:18Speaker 2: Ryker Evans. That is to be determined, but head coach
- 3:21Speaker 2: Lane Lambert did confirm while Evans is still on ir
- 3:24Speaker 2: right now, he will travel with the team to Saint
- 3:27Speaker 2: Louis and Dallas.
- 3:29Speaker 3: Additionally, Berkeley Catton when will he be in next?
- 3:32Speaker 2: Of course, that will be game number nine for him
- 3:35Speaker 2: in this regular season, and that's pretty significant because as
- 3:39Speaker 2: of right now, his three year contract has yet to
- 3:42Speaker 2: kick in. That would happen if he would play in
- 3:45Speaker 2: a tenth NHL game.
- 3:46Speaker 3: For this season.
- 3:47Speaker 2: So after Game nine, a potential decision awaits the Kraken
- 3:51Speaker 2: for Berkeley Catton. Do they keep him or do they
- 3:54Speaker 2: send him back to the Western Hockey League, where the
- 3:56Speaker 2: Spokane Chiefs hold his rights. Of course, he's not eligib
- 4:00Speaker 2: bolt to go play in the minor leagues until next season,
- 4:03Speaker 2: when he would eventually turn twenty years of age. Besides
- 4:07Speaker 2: those decisions, the crack and making a pretty pointed decision
- 4:10Speaker 2: to ramp up their practice on Thursday with pace and
- 4:13Speaker 2: intensity at Kraken Community ice Plex. After practice, Jaden Schwartz
- 4:18Speaker 2: met with the media first off, beginning on how expectations
- 4:22Speaker 2: heading into practice were able to match what he saw.
- 4:26Speaker 4: You know, it wasn't good enough and pretty much every area,
- 4:28Speaker 4: so we all know that, everywhere from dizone to execution
- 4:34Speaker 4: to checking to just making plays with the bucks. So
- 4:39Speaker 4: you know, unfortunately you're going to get those games a
- 4:41Speaker 4: few times a year. You don't want that, obviously, you
- 4:43Speaker 4: know you're trying to win every game, but those games happen,
- 4:47Speaker 4: and if you can learn from them and you know,
- 4:51Speaker 4: realize what you did wrong and get better because of
- 4:53Speaker 4: it, it could make you better in the long run and
- 4:55Speaker 4: just make you know, if you're not hungry in this
- 4:56Speaker 4: league from the start of the game, working and playing
- 5:01Speaker 4: your systems, it doesn't matter who you play or you're
- 5:03Speaker 4: probably not gonna win. So just a bit of a
- 5:06Speaker 4: wake up call, and you know, we got a great
- 5:08Speaker 4: chance to get back at her here in a couple
- 5:10Speaker 4: of days.
- 5:10Speaker 2: Some players will say it's kind of like a lunch
- 5:12Speaker 2: pail mentality, and that's kind of the way that you
- 5:14Speaker 2: win consistently here in this league.
- 5:16Speaker 4: Would you agree, Yeah, obviously, work ethic energy, hunger playing
- 5:23Speaker 4: the system, you know, battle level, compete level you got
- 5:26Speaker 4: to have. If you're getting out worked in those areas,
- 5:28Speaker 4: your your chances are you're not gonna win.
- 5:30Speaker 2: What was the field like getting back out there with
- 5:32Speaker 2: Maddie and the cops?
- 5:33Speaker 4: Also, yeah, I think it's our first time together, you know,
- 5:38Speaker 4: since last year, you know, Caple being heard and you
- 5:42Speaker 4: know we've had different looks throughout the season so far.
- 5:44Speaker 4: So obviously two guys that you know, I love playing
- 5:46Speaker 4: with and you know we've had good success. I think
- 5:50Speaker 4: we read off each other well, you know that being said,
- 5:53Speaker 4: it's uh, you know, it's a new year and we
- 5:55Speaker 4: got to make sure we're we have our work boots
- 5:57Speaker 4: on early here and play the game simple and working
- 6:01Speaker 4: and make plays after that. But two guys that I
- 6:03Speaker 4: obviously really enjoyed playing with.
- 6:05Speaker 2: Aside from breading each other, Well, what else do you
- 6:07Speaker 2: feel like kind of went in to your success together
- 6:09Speaker 2: last season playing for you know, good portion of the year.
- 6:11Speaker 4: Yeah, I think, just well, reading off each other, supporting
- 6:14Speaker 4: each other, making the right reads, you know, being strong
- 6:18Speaker 4: on Fox. Both guys are good defensively strong sticks you know,
- 6:23Speaker 4: smart players. So excited to get going again, with them
- 6:28Speaker 4: and starting building that chemistry again. Like you said, they're great,
- 6:34Speaker 4: great players to play with and excited for us Saturays.
- 6:37Speaker 2: So the cracking and getting busy this weekend. First game
- 6:40Speaker 2: up back to back tonight again against the Saint Louis
- 6:42Speaker 2: Blues that brings us to Ian Fornest joining us now
- 6:45Speaker 2: the famous may or Maple Valley one two three pm
- 6:48Speaker 2: of course ninety.
- 6:49Speaker 3: Three three k j R f M.
- 6:51Speaker 2: He's also TV pregame and post game host on the
- 6:54Speaker 2: Crack and Hockey Network. Hello, sir, how are you looking
- 6:58Speaker 2: forward to this coffee team? Anything else gonna get you
- 7:01Speaker 2: going here for this weekend?
- 7:02Speaker 1: I'm good.
- 7:03Speaker 5: Coffee is my friend and yeah, ready to get after.
- 7:06Speaker 5: Let's do it.
- 7:06Speaker 2: We live in the right place here for that, certainly,
- 7:09Speaker 2: let's jump into it with this Ian. After practice two
- 7:12Speaker 2: days ago, Jaden Schwartz straight shooter following Wednesday's game, we
- 7:18Speaker 2: heard the words, you replayed them on your airwaves on
- 7:22Speaker 2: your show as well.
- 7:23Speaker 3: So I think coming out of what was I think
- 7:25Speaker 3: one of the more higher.
- 7:26Speaker 2: Pace of not the most highest pace practice of the
- 7:29Speaker 2: entire season early on, what do you expect as far
- 7:33Speaker 2: as carry over into tonight in Saint Louis.
- 7:36Speaker 5: Well, hopefully just a much better performance, you know. I mean,
- 7:40Speaker 5: I don't put a lot into what happened on Wednesday.
- 7:43Speaker 5: I'd almost chock it up to not just the one
- 7:46Speaker 5: of eighty two, that you're going to have a clunker
- 7:48Speaker 5: or two along the way, and hopefully a fewer than more.
- 7:51Speaker 5: And in that, I mean, you're home for a five
- 7:54Speaker 5: game homestand I think you kind of get I think
- 7:57Speaker 5: there's a tendency maybe to get complacent. There's distractions at
- 8:01Speaker 5: home for those with families, and you know, listen, that's
- 8:04Speaker 5: a good thing. We all want to, you know, take
- 8:05Speaker 5: care of our family and everything else. But you know,
- 8:08Speaker 5: there's a lot going on, and you know, sometimes getting
- 8:10Speaker 5: on the road is not a bad thing. And you know,
- 8:13Speaker 5: I think in this case for this team, that you know,
- 8:16Speaker 5: you have all those home games, Okay, now it's time
- 8:18Speaker 5: to move on and get on the road and have
- 8:21Speaker 5: a better effort. Have a sense of urgency I think
- 8:25Speaker 5: would help as well. So I think all those things
- 8:27Speaker 5: coming into play are are you know, we're going to
- 8:29Speaker 5: see hopefully tonight and tomorrow.
- 8:30Speaker 2: We heard a lot of those similar core values out
- 8:33Speaker 2: of Schwartz the other day. And it didn't take long
- 8:36Speaker 2: for Lane Lambert to switch things up again. We saw
- 8:38Speaker 2: some familiar faces put back together. Schwartz though, is on
- 8:41Speaker 2: the left wing with guests who Matty Beaniers and Coppocco
- 8:45Speaker 2: Beniers as a centerman, Cocko as a right winger. I
- 8:50Speaker 2: think maybe it was a matter of time before the
- 8:52Speaker 2: latter two got put back together. But what do you
- 8:56Speaker 2: like about seeing these two together once again at this
- 8:58Speaker 2: point of the season.
- 8:59Speaker 5: Well, I think we saw the success they had last year,
- 9:02Speaker 5: that that threesome, that group when Coppocco came here and
- 9:05Speaker 5: and you know, like Maddy and Everly had some chemistry.
- 9:09Speaker 5: There's no doubt about that early in the year. That's
- 9:12Speaker 5: reflected in the points, especially in the Everly side of
- 9:15Speaker 5: the point side of it. But you know, Maddie, both
- 9:17Speaker 5: Maddy's goals came on the power play, so you know
- 9:20Speaker 5: it's not like they were coming necessarily five on five
- 9:23Speaker 5: on five with Beverly. So yeah, make the change. Get listen.
- 9:27Speaker 5: There's guys that have to get going. There's guys that
- 9:30Speaker 5: have to get going on this team. Coppocco is one
- 9:33Speaker 5: of them. Now he's only played two games. I get
- 9:35Speaker 5: that are a couple three games, right, So, but you've
- 9:37Speaker 5: got to get him going, Towelven, it's got to get going.
- 9:40Speaker 5: He has to score goals. And so let's let's move
- 9:43Speaker 5: things around. You know, your three steadiest players out there
- 9:48Speaker 5: up front are seven, ten, and seventeen, and so you know,
- 9:53Speaker 5: but those guys can't be the only ones that are
- 9:55Speaker 5: carrying you. So I like to move. I like ling
- 9:58Speaker 5: going back to that he can look at home from
- 10:00Speaker 5: last year and see what it looked like and and
- 10:02Speaker 5: so I'm excited to see what the results are to
- 10:04Speaker 5: night and tomorrow.
- 10:05Speaker 2: I mean it almost kind of seems like with you know,
- 10:08Speaker 2: the Ellie Tolvenan thing and then Mason Marchman's going through
- 10:11Speaker 2: his troubles. I mean, how much would you agree that
- 10:13Speaker 2: that conventional wisdom just kicks in where you just got
- 10:16Speaker 2: to get something off of I don't I really don't care.
- 10:18Speaker 2: Your elbow, your glove, your dairy air, your helmet, Just
- 10:21Speaker 2: have one go in. It doesn't matter how to you know,
- 10:25Speaker 2: finally get confidence rolling again.
- 10:27Speaker 5: Yeah, I think with with tolven And that's the case.
- 10:29Speaker 5: But uh, he's got to shoot the puck, you know.
- 10:32Speaker 5: I think he's turned down some shots a few times,
- 10:34Speaker 5: especially the last few games. So I think he's got
- 10:37Speaker 5: to shoot the puck. He's got a lethal shot. That's
- 10:38Speaker 5: the strength of his game and and it'll come. You know.
- 10:43Speaker 5: It's interesting like he's got no power play time last year.
- 10:46Speaker 5: This year is getting power play time and hasn't scored. So,
- 10:48Speaker 5: you know, I think I think with his in his situation,
- 10:51Speaker 5: that's good. You know, Maddie's Maddie's playing great hockey. You know,
- 10:56Speaker 5: and Jel said the other day the uld trick to
- 10:58Speaker 5: the to day has been the best hockeys out before.
- 11:02Speaker 5: You know, that was that was in the Chicago game.
- 11:03Speaker 5: So you know, we love what Maddy's doing. But listen,
- 11:07Speaker 5: Marchman's got to score too. You know what is it
- 11:09Speaker 5: is eleven games now right without a goal. I think
- 11:12Speaker 5: that's where we're at with him. So he's got to
- 11:16Speaker 5: and he just hasn't played well. Like I I think
- 11:18Speaker 5: we're being honest because he doesn't do anything. You know,
- 11:21Speaker 5: he's not out there killing penalties. You know, you're not
- 11:24Speaker 5: worrying about him. You know, he's not a guy that's
- 11:26Speaker 5: gonna Hey, that's a great back checker. That's it. No, No,
- 11:29Speaker 5: he needs to score. He needs to plan his butt
- 11:31Speaker 5: in front of the net. He's got to be a
- 11:33Speaker 5: presence down low, and and he's got to he's got
- 11:35Speaker 5: to amp up that part of his game. He just
- 11:37Speaker 5: hasn't done it.
- 11:39Speaker 2: I think that's where you get to, I think the
- 11:40Speaker 2: meat of this, because when you go back in the
- 11:42Speaker 2: thought process behind acquiring Mason march Men during the summer
- 11:46Speaker 2: Ian was they wanted to get bigger, they wanted to
- 11:49Speaker 2: get meaner, they wanted to add more grit here to
- 11:53Speaker 2: this lineup, and anything beneath the dots applies here for
- 11:57Speaker 2: Mason march Mint And as far as what he's got
- 11:58Speaker 2: to get back to, Yeah, and.
- 12:00Speaker 5: I don't think we've seen that part of his game,
- 12:01Speaker 5: to be honest with you, Mike, I mean, I think
- 12:04Speaker 5: that's the harsh reality of it is we haven't seen that.
- 12:08Speaker 5: You know, we've seen all that stuff you just described.
- 12:11Speaker 5: We've seen that from Tyke Kartia. We've seen that from
- 12:14Speaker 5: Ryan Winterton, We've seen that, you know, at times from
- 12:18Speaker 5: Yonnie Newman, but we haven't seen that from Mason marsh
- 12:21Speaker 5: and we have to. You got to see that from me.
- 12:24Speaker 2: Game nine is coming up for Berkeley Catton and then
- 12:27Speaker 2: after that his contract will kick in if the Kraken
- 12:31Speaker 2: decided to keep him. Otherwise, they had to send him
- 12:34Speaker 2: back to the Western Hockey League with the Spokane Chiefs
- 12:37Speaker 2: before he would play basically another game. As far as
- 12:42Speaker 2: the situation ian, what's brought him here to this point
- 12:45Speaker 2: with three assists in eight games, playing up and down
- 12:48Speaker 2: the lineup, and what's left for him to prove in
- 12:50Speaker 2: game nine?
- 12:52Speaker 5: I don't think anything. I think they know what they have.
- 12:54Speaker 5: I think he was ever, you know, I don't think
- 12:57Speaker 5: anything has change. If he goes out in game nine
- 12:59Speaker 5: to score two goals and has a three point game
- 13:01Speaker 5: and two goals and assists or goal and two assists,
- 13:03Speaker 5: I don't think that changes. And they know what they have.
- 13:06Speaker 5: They seen him in practice, they've seen him in the
- 13:08Speaker 5: in the eight games so far, So I don't think
- 13:10Speaker 5: anything changes for who and what Berkeley cat is. Listen,
- 13:15Speaker 5: I'm I'm I assume they've made their decision and they
- 13:20Speaker 5: know what they're doing with and they're just not going
- 13:21Speaker 5: to tell you or me or anybody else to tell
- 13:23Speaker 5: the decisions, you know, until it's there, until we get
- 13:26Speaker 5: to game nine slash ten. But I'm sure they've made
- 13:30Speaker 5: the decision. It would. I can't. I can't fathom them saying, Okay,
- 13:34Speaker 5: well let's see what he does in game nine and
- 13:36Speaker 5: then I'm like, well, decision if if game nine he's
- 13:39Speaker 5: really good or game nine he's really bad, then we'll
- 13:41Speaker 5: send him back or keep him here. Right, I'm sure
- 13:43Speaker 5: they've made their decision. You know, the plan seems pretty easy.
- 13:48Speaker 5: It really does. Like like, the plan seems easy. At
- 13:51Speaker 5: some point, you're not going to have three goalies. There's
- 13:53Speaker 5: a roster spot. At some point. He's gone to World Juniors,
- 13:56Speaker 5: which is good, and that'll be that's a month basically,
- 13:59Speaker 5: like he'll be on you know, you go, you go
- 14:01Speaker 5: to camp, you go World Juniors, and then usually you
- 14:04Speaker 5: get a week off after World Juniors. Now here's the thing.
- 14:08Speaker 5: We're also assuming that they would for sure let him
- 14:10Speaker 5: go to World Juniors. I would assume so, right, I
- 14:13Speaker 5: would assume so. But you know, I mean there's teenagers
- 14:16Speaker 5: before that have him be allowed. But I'm sure they
- 14:18Speaker 5: let him go to World Juniors. And imagine, you know,
- 14:20Speaker 5: Jerry McCann's not even skating yet, and either is Freddie Gudroux. Right,
- 14:24Speaker 5: So there's two guys right there. Take the goalie out
- 14:28Speaker 5: of the mix at some point, which we'll get to,
- 14:30Speaker 5: I'm sure, And there's a spot for him here. Look,
- 14:35Speaker 5: he's a better hockey player than Ben Myers. That's why
- 14:37Speaker 5: he was drafted where he was drafted. He's a better
- 14:39Speaker 5: player than probably anything they have in Coachella right now
- 14:42Speaker 5: that would come up and be the thirteenth forward. So
- 14:45Speaker 5: to speed, and I know the common thought is you
- 14:48Speaker 5: want him to play well, sure, but is it better
- 14:51Speaker 5: to play every few games in the NHL and practice
- 14:55Speaker 5: and skate and do all those things at this speed
- 14:57Speaker 5: and be around it, or is it better to go
- 14:59Speaker 5: back and put up two and a half points a
- 15:02Speaker 5: game in juniors. I think the NHL has to be
- 15:04Speaker 5: the better has to be the better answer. But and
- 15:07Speaker 5: I know the contract kicks in all those things. I
- 15:09Speaker 5: don't know if the camp going up, and and you
- 15:12Speaker 5: know the way we live now with free agency and arbitration,
- 15:15Speaker 5: I don't think that's as big a deal as maybe
- 15:17Speaker 5: it used to be. Either, it would be nice to
- 15:19Speaker 5: have and be able to go to the HL. And
- 15:20Speaker 5: maybe they do that after World Juniors and get them
- 15:22Speaker 5: a quote rehab stint or whatever conditioning stint. But you know,
- 15:26Speaker 5: and kind of manipulate it that way. But I just
- 15:29Speaker 5: and you know, clip this the same and I'll sound
- 15:31Speaker 5: like a pool later. I just I don't see any
- 15:34Speaker 5: reason for him to go back down to the Western League.
- 15:36Speaker 2: I can't think of a better segue as far as
- 15:39Speaker 2: how this is all involved in the roster. Then to
- 15:40Speaker 2: talk about the goaltending picture right now, because you just
- 15:43Speaker 2: brought this up. He and Finesse of course joining us
- 15:45Speaker 2: here on cracking this morning. Joey Decord has played a
- 15:48Speaker 2: lot of hockey eleven games so far in the three
- 15:51Speaker 2: goalie carousel, Philip Grewbauer two games, Matt Murray two games.
- 15:57Speaker 2: So with the back to back for presumably somebody else
- 16:01Speaker 2: besides Joey has got to play, what does this weekend
- 16:06Speaker 2: back to back perhaps tell us about the goaltending picture.
- 16:10Speaker 5: Well, I'm going to take again. I'm just gonna throw
- 16:12Speaker 5: this out there. I don't think Joey plays this week,
- 16:13Speaker 5: and I think they've got to look at both these guys.
- 16:15Speaker 5: I think they got to look at both players, Murray
- 16:18Speaker 5: and Grubauer. And you know you said the two games,
- 16:20Speaker 5: but remember neither one of those guys that's played two
- 16:23Speaker 5: complete games. They both come in relief of Joey at
- 16:25Speaker 5: one point, right, So, you know Murray the other night,
- 16:27Speaker 5: I grew before that. So I think, I think you
- 16:30Speaker 5: have to give each of those guys a start. They're
- 16:32Speaker 5: back to back games. You have three goalies on your roster.
- 16:34Speaker 5: They're all three NHL caliber goalies. There's a decided number
- 16:37Speaker 5: one in Joey. You know, he hasn't played the most
- 16:40Speaker 5: games in the NHL. There's guys that have played more
- 16:42Speaker 5: than him, but he's played as high a percentage of
- 16:46Speaker 5: his own team's games as anybody in the NHL. And
- 16:49Speaker 5: the three goalie thing, yeah, it's the compacted schedule and
- 16:53Speaker 5: and all those things that they've talked about. But at
- 16:56Speaker 5: the end of the day, you're wasting a roster spot
- 16:58Speaker 5: on a goalie it's not going to play, and that
- 17:01Speaker 5: makes no sense, especially as it relates to Berth the
- 17:04Speaker 5: cant And so you got to figure out who your
- 17:06Speaker 5: number two is and take it from there. Is a Groobauur,
- 17:10Speaker 5: you know, are you doing Groovy a good by you know,
- 17:12Speaker 5: getting them having him on an NHL roster before the Olympics.
- 17:15Speaker 5: Does it really matter if he's playing every other you know,
- 17:17Speaker 5: sometimes down at Coachella. Is that is that better for him?
- 17:20Speaker 5: Murray played in the American League last year. He knows
- 17:22Speaker 5: how to handle that situation with the young goalie down there.
- 17:25Speaker 5: I mean, I think you can make arguments for sending
- 17:27Speaker 5: both of those guys down, one of each of them down,
- 17:29Speaker 5: I guess in a sense. But I'm gonna guess we're
- 17:32Speaker 5: not gonna do Joey again until next week.
- 17:34Speaker 2: This also leads us here into Ryker Evans and when
- 17:37Speaker 2: he's going to come back, because Lane Lambert said he
- 17:39Speaker 2: will be on the trip and he's already out of
- 17:41Speaker 2: the red non contact jersey, which tells us he might
- 17:44Speaker 2: be closer to returning here more than ever. So depending
- 17:50Speaker 2: upon who he plays with. There's of course Jamie Alexiak
- 17:53Speaker 2: and Josh Mhera. I don't know if you really pull
- 17:56Speaker 2: apart the lind Gren and Montur pairing here at this point.
- 17:59Speaker 2: But where do you like Riker Evans fitting in once
- 18:02Speaker 2: he can come back in.
- 18:03Speaker 5: Well, I think when he comes back and he's activated,
- 18:06Speaker 5: Kale goes back to cal Flour, he goes back down
- 18:08Speaker 5: and Ryker probably steps in for Marhura and let those
- 18:12Speaker 5: two guys battle it out to see who who is
- 18:15Speaker 5: on that third pair with Alexia. I think that's I mean,
- 18:18Speaker 5: you're not in the top four set. You're, like you said,
- 18:20Speaker 5: you're not moving. Let Lindren and and mon tour and
- 18:24Speaker 5: there's no chance you're going to see any kind of
- 18:25Speaker 5: change with six and twenty nine, right, So, uh yeah,
- 18:29Speaker 5: I think that's I think he thoughts in there for
- 18:31Speaker 5: Marhura and maybe you know what goes back and forth,
- 18:34Speaker 5: whoever's playing better between those two guys is is in
- 18:37Speaker 5: and and then you know, I mean the reality of
- 18:39Speaker 5: the NHL, especially this type of schedule, is there's going
- 18:41Speaker 5: to be guys getting banged up during the year. I
- 18:44Speaker 5: think you have to love what your defense is. I mean,
- 18:46Speaker 5: if if Josh Mahura or Ryker Evans is number seven
- 18:50Speaker 5: to your d that's pretty damn good. Like that's there's
- 18:53Speaker 5: a lot of teams that don't have a number three
- 18:55Speaker 5: or four defenseman at that level. So you're loving that situation.
- 18:59Speaker 5: It's just a matter of you know, getting right or healthy.
- 19:02Speaker 5: And I mean I think we see with Coppocco it's
- 19:04Speaker 5: gonna take a game or two to get back to
- 19:06Speaker 5: your shoe leags back yea too, right, So I mean
- 19:08Speaker 5: I think all those things are in play.
- 19:10Speaker 2: I had a great chance to talk with Coppococo in
- 19:12Speaker 2: the room here at Ay and he was pretty thrilled
- 19:14Speaker 2: to get back here with Matty Beniers. And you know,
- 19:16Speaker 2: I'm really intrigued to see how these two really kick
- 19:19Speaker 2: things off playing together once again. And it could be
- 19:21Speaker 2: maybe something that gets Coppococko to the next level. Since
- 19:24Speaker 2: he's just back here from injury. Facing the Saint Louis
- 19:27Speaker 2: Blues tonight, I can't picture unless you may be the
- 19:31Speaker 2: Calgary Flames, a team that has gotten off, or the
- 19:35Speaker 2: Buffalo Sabers gotten out to a more nightmarish start this season.
- 19:39Speaker 2: At five eight and two, nobody has given up more
- 19:43Speaker 2: goals in the league this year. Their penalty kill at
- 19:46Speaker 2: home is thirty first as.
- 19:48Speaker 3: Well in the league.
- 19:49Speaker 2: So when I go back and consider what Jaden Schwartz
- 19:52Speaker 2: was talking about, you mentioned this as well. The launch
- 19:55Speaker 2: pale mentality's gonna be the foundation of how the crack
- 19:59Speaker 2: can play Underane Lambert. To you, where does it mean
- 20:02Speaker 2: more in translating into maybe early starts and correcting what
- 20:05Speaker 2: happened against San Jose or production that fizzled out on
- 20:09Speaker 2: the power play against san Jose.
- 20:12Speaker 5: Well, i'll take him the reverse sort of the power play.
- 20:14Speaker 5: I don't worry about I think Christillo's an a great job.
- 20:16Speaker 5: They were zero for six, but I think they got
- 20:18Speaker 5: really Chris said it to us on the Krack and
- 20:20Speaker 5: Hockey Network between the second and third periods is like
- 20:22Speaker 5: too much passing, Like that's all we're doing, Like we
- 20:25Speaker 5: got to shoot the puck. And I think they got
- 20:27Speaker 5: really cute because San Jose structure on their PK which
- 20:30Speaker 5: is satrocious, Like they should have scored four goals on
- 20:33Speaker 5: those power plays, and Astrof played well, give him credit,
- 20:37Speaker 5: So I don't worry about that as much. I think
- 20:40Speaker 5: the first like the we're being honest. I think we've
- 20:44Speaker 5: got to get some point we've got. The reality is
- 20:45Speaker 5: they got to start being better early. They've had one
- 20:48Speaker 5: first period lead this year. They've led after one period
- 20:50Speaker 5: one game. They've been outscored handily in first period this season.
- 20:54Speaker 5: The second third periods up until what was the game Wednesday?
- 20:59Speaker 5: Up until Wednesday has been really good. Yet be better
- 21:02Speaker 5: to start the game. He better starting a game right now.
- 21:05Speaker 2: They're not looking forward to this man first event to
- 21:08Speaker 2: bec I know you'll be ready just as much as
- 21:09Speaker 2: we are as well. Keep up the great work, my
- 21:11Speaker 2: friend Ian, appreciate ship, have a great show. Thank you man,
- 21:15Speaker 2: Thanks Mike all right, may or thank you very much
- 21:18Speaker 2: that Zigan furness again of course, TV host Crack and
- 21:21Speaker 2: Hockey Network and heard one to three week days on
- 21:24Speaker 2: ninety three to three KJRFM. Well the Crack and facing
- 21:27Speaker 2: a Saint Louis Blues team that has had their number
- 21:30Speaker 2: recently at Enterprise Center, could this year provide a change
- 21:34Speaker 2: of fortune where the Krack and are searching for just
- 21:37Speaker 2: their second win all time in Saint Louis in seven tries.
- 21:41Speaker 2: Their last victory there came back on February twenty eighth
- 21:45Speaker 2: of twenty twenty three. They're facing a Saint Louis team
- 21:48Speaker 2: that has taken plenty of lumps early on this season,
- 21:51Speaker 2: last right now in the Central Division of five eight
- 21:53Speaker 2: and two, but they come off a three to nothing
- 21:55Speaker 2: victory over the Buffalo Sabers on Thursday. Goaltender Joel Hoefer,
- 22:00Speaker 2: the ex Portland winter Hawk, had his third career NHL
- 22:04Speaker 2: shutout on twenty eight saves. Jim Montgomery, the bluest head coach,
- 22:08Speaker 2: also holding a mandatory morning skate before their game at Buffalo.
- 22:13Speaker 2: Why is that significant, you may ask. Of course, teams
- 22:16Speaker 2: hold morning skates all the time, not so much.
- 22:19Speaker 3: In this case. It came on the second game of
- 22:22Speaker 3: a back to back.
- 22:23Speaker 2: So Saint Louis getting into Buffalo usually in morning reserve
- 22:27Speaker 2: for players to rest, recharge and get ready for the
- 22:30Speaker 2: game that evening.
- 22:31Speaker 3: Not in this case.
- 22:32Speaker 2: Montgomery made them skate, eventually coming out with that win
- 22:36Speaker 2: over Buffalo, where Jordan Cayrou, one of their top end
- 22:39Speaker 2: forwards and gate attractions, was held out of the game
- 22:43Speaker 2: as a healthy scratch, Matthew Joseph turning in a shorthanded
- 22:46Speaker 2: goal along with two assists on the way. So can
- 22:50Speaker 2: the Kraken get past They're bumping the road Wednesday here
- 22:53Speaker 2: in Saint Louis before heading into Dallas tomorrow. We'll talk
- 22:57Speaker 2: more about a beginning of three point thirty. I'll join
- 22:59Speaker 2: you from NETW Central ever it fits you. Al Kadisky

- 23:09Speaker 2: you again to Ian forness and for kracking this morning.
