Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Vincent mcavini is with me from Europe and the UK. Vincent,
- 0:04Speaker 1: what good morning, What is the latest on the zettack
- 0:07Speaker 1: in Munich.
- 0:09Speaker 2: Good morning, Well, this attack happened in Munich a couple
- 0:11Speaker 2: of hours ago, and Afghan asylum seeker drove at a
- 0:15Speaker 2: group of people in the German city. Reports say he
- 0:19Speaker 2: is a twenty four year old who had an asylum
- 0:22Speaker 2: claim rejected after coming to Germany in twenty sixteen, but
- 0:26Speaker 2: has been given a sort of leave to remain since then.
- 0:30Speaker 2: But it's understood he is someone known to officers. He
- 0:34Speaker 2: has had offenses of theft and drug usage and drug
- 0:38Speaker 2: we think sales as well, but it's unclear what his
- 0:43Speaker 2: motive was. Today he was ended by a who fired
- 0:47Speaker 2: one jotted him before arrest. But it comes just as
- 0:51Speaker 2: Munich is set to host the Munich Security Conference, which
- 0:55Speaker 2: is one of the biggest global security conferences. The Vice
- 0:58Speaker 2: president j D Varnt arrived in the city, but it's
- 1:01Speaker 2: unclear at the moment whether or not this is in
- 1:03Speaker 2: any way connected to that conference. Germany has had several
- 1:07Speaker 2: of these attacks over recent years, and they've got an
- 1:09Speaker 2: election just over a week away, so that potentially could
- 1:12Speaker 2: have something to do with it as well, Vincent.
- 1:15Speaker 1: Very quickly, how is Europe reacting to the conversations President
- 1:19Speaker 1: Trump is having with both Russia and the Ukraine.
- 1:23Speaker 2: Well, a lot of frustration and anchor as well at
- 1:26Speaker 2: what's going on. Vladimir Zelenski coming out and saying very
- 1:29Speaker 2: clearly there can be no peace plan sort of forged
- 1:32Speaker 2: between Trump and Putin without him, as are reportedly going
- 1:35Speaker 2: to be a conference in Saudi Arabia on this, but
- 1:39Speaker 2: the Ukrainians saying they must be involved and that will
- 1:41Speaker 2: be the only way to secure peace. Lots though in Europe,
- 1:44Speaker 2: which is obviously you know, we've borne the brunt of
- 1:46Speaker 2: supporting Ukraine in terms of taking in Ukrainians and the
- 1:50Speaker 2: support that's been given, and also the impacts on cost
- 1:53Speaker 2: of living, and many European nations leaders angry that, you know,
- 1:56Speaker 2: they're comparing it to appeasement of Hitler, saying that Trump
- 2:00Speaker 2: has already given too much away ahead of the negotiations
- 2:03Speaker 2: with that ninety minute call yesterday with Vladimir Putin.
- 2:07Speaker 1: Thank you so much, Vincent, I appreciate your time.
