- 0:03Speaker 1: Wake up
- 0:05Speaker 1: next
- 0:07Speaker 1: Kicking off your day in the best way. It's Sonia
- 0:10Speaker 1: and Joakim on the shock circuit. And here we go
- 0:13Speaker 1: with a brand new week and of course if you're
- 0:15Speaker 1: in primary 6, it is PSLE season. It starts on Thursday.
- 0:20Speaker 1: Not to worry, sending you all the love and energy
- 0:23Speaker 1: you need, and it's Sonia and Joakim keeping you company
- 0:25Speaker 1: here on the shock circuit. Singapore's number 1 hit
- 0:28Speaker 1: music station.
- 0:33Speaker 2: A big week for you if you're taking your PSLE papers.
- 0:36Speaker 2: All the best. 24th
- 0:38Speaker 1: of September, that's the date, but also the launch of
- 0:41Speaker 1: Avengers Endgame Encore. OK,
- 0:43Speaker 2: treat
- 0:43Speaker 2: it as a as a reward at the end of
- 0:45Speaker 2: your exams in
- 0:46Speaker 1: cinemas here in Singapore.
- 0:49Speaker 2: Anyway, I, I don't really remember what my parents used
- 0:52Speaker 2: to bait me with like for exams. We should totally
- 0:56Speaker 2: open up phone lines for this later on during the show,
- 0:58Speaker 2: but
- 0:59Speaker 2: You know how sometimes you need a bit of motivation.
- 1:03Speaker 1: Sega Mega Drive 2 and PlayStation a long time
- 1:07Speaker 1: ago.
- 1:07Speaker 2: The only thing that I remember from back then.
- 1:11Speaker 2: was that they baited me with an iPod Nano, if
- 1:14Speaker 2: you still remember those. So, so before your iPhones became like,
- 1:18Speaker 2: you know, an all-rounded device, um, there was the iPod
- 1:22Speaker 2: and the iPod
- 1:23Speaker 1: Nano. If you're not a millennial, the iPod was something
- 1:26Speaker 1: that we played on the iPhone.
- 1:31Speaker 2: Exactly. So when I was in like sec one, I
- 1:33Speaker 2: had this friend who was the only friend I knew.
- 1:37Speaker 2: had an iPhone, you know. So at that time, we
- 1:39Speaker 2: were all like amazed. We were like, whoa, this girl
- 1:41Speaker 2: must be cool, or like she's got some special access
- 1:44Speaker 2: to someone out there.
- 1:45Speaker 1: And I remember back in 2004, was it 2003 when
- 1:49Speaker 1: the iPod first launched the one with four buttons. I
- 1:53Speaker 1: think I had a friend in school who owned it.
- 1:55Speaker 1: I think his or her parents used to get it
- 1:57Speaker 1: from the US.
- 1:59Speaker 2: yes, and then bring it because it wasn't really readily
- 2:01Speaker 2: available in Singapore, right? Yeah.
- 2:03Speaker 2: To school and all of us were like so cool.
- 2:06Speaker 2: When you see 4 buttons, is it the one that's
- 2:08Speaker 2: in a circle and then you can like scroll, there's
- 2:12Speaker 2: another one. OK, no, I never owned that one. Let
- 2:14Speaker 2: me show it to you I can find it. It's
- 2:16Speaker 2: only like when the Nano came about, it was really,
- 2:19Speaker 2: really cool because you have that like um like touch
- 2:22Speaker 2: touch wheel sort of thing. So it's almost like a
- 2:24Speaker 2: touchscreen in a way and at that point, it was
- 2:27Speaker 2: like the coolest thing ever. So.
- 2:29Speaker 2: Wow, memories, man, like all these things that probably should
- 2:32Speaker 2: be in a museum by now.
- 2:33Speaker 1: The iPod changed and revolutionized
- 2:37Speaker 2: the way we changed the game completely. 21st of September,
- 2:40Speaker 2: where did all the time go? Oh my gosh.
- 2:42Speaker 1: Do
- 2:43Speaker 1: you remember the 21st night of September.
- 2:47Speaker 2: 50% of the people may not know that song. I'm
- 2:50Speaker 2: sorry to
- 2:53Speaker 1: say a bar that has a live DJ or someone's
- 2:56Speaker 1: on Spotify or Apple Music, they will definitely play that song.
- 2:59Speaker 2: Oh, why? Because it's the 21st of September 21st I
- 3:03Speaker 2: didn't know that's what the lyrics were.
- 3:07Speaker 2: Wait, hold on. What did I think it was? Do
- 3:10Speaker 2: you remember? You know what? No, you know what? I'm
- 3:15Speaker 2: the kind of person that I'll go, do you remember?
- 3:18Speaker 2: And then quiet September, then I quiet. The rest of
- 3:22Speaker 2: the song I don't know the lyrics. Don't worry,
- 3:24Speaker 1: that is all.
- 3:25Speaker 1: All of us in the world, you're
- 3:27Speaker 1: fine,
- 3:29Speaker 2: you know, just make noise.
- 3:30Speaker 1: Like for example, when Rama's calm down
- 3:33Speaker 2: calm down, yeah, with Selena Gomez.
- 3:36Speaker 1: All of
- 3:36Speaker 2: us
- 3:36Speaker 1: will
- 3:36Speaker 1: go, baby, calm
- 3:37Speaker 1: down,
- 3:38Speaker 2: calm down slow
- 3:42Speaker 1: down slow down.
- 3:45Speaker 2: Actually, that's funny, but what are some songs that like
- 3:48Speaker 2: we have no clue what the lyrics are, we just
- 3:50Speaker 2: make noise.
- 3:51Speaker 1: Rihanna's Rude Boy. Oh
- 3:52Speaker 2: yeah, we only know Rude Boy.
- 3:54Speaker 1: Come here, rude boy boy you beginner. No,
- 3:57Speaker 2: can you give it up, right? OK,
- 3:59Speaker 1: take it,
- 3:59Speaker 1: take it, take it.
- 4:01Speaker 1: I'm curious. Hold on.
- 4:04Speaker 2: Rude boy lyrics. Hold on,
- 4:05Speaker 1: hold on, hold on.
- 4:06Speaker 1: OK. OK. Forget the chorus, you sing the verse.
- 4:11Speaker 1: Um, no,
- 4:15Speaker 2: oh, I'm gonna let it be fire and I'm gonna let, uh,
- 4:19Speaker 2: I'm gonna let you take me higher. Yeah, get it on, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 4:23Speaker 1: yeah, no, no, no one's singing that. OK, I got
- 4:25Speaker 1: one last one
- 4:26Speaker 2: for you. I can't actually the rest of the lyrics
- 4:27Speaker 2: I just realized are, um, NSFW, so,
- 4:30Speaker 1: OK,
- 4:30Speaker 1: last one for you, Michael Jackson's Smooth Criminal.
- 4:35Speaker 2: I, I only know Smooth Criminal. OK, can you, you
- 4:38Speaker 2: give me the first line
- 4:40Speaker 1: to the window. It was
- 4:41Speaker 1: the sound of a
- 4:45Speaker 1: thing.
- 4:47Speaker 2: No, actually he's what, if you recall, Olivia Dean actually
- 4:51Speaker 2: did an interview where she talked about um
- 4:53Speaker 2: Singers where they don't articulate their words, and she said
- 4:57Speaker 2: that's one of her pet peeves. I mean, I'm paraphrasing,
- 4:59Speaker 2: I'm paraphrasing, but she did say that when she started
- 5:02Speaker 2: doing music, one of the things that she wanted to
- 5:05Speaker 2: be very clear about were her words. So she wants
- 5:08Speaker 2: to make sure that people can hear her lyrics. Not
- 5:10Speaker 2: that she's condemning people that, you know, stylize it in
- 5:13Speaker 2: a way where you don't understand. It's just that that's
- 5:16Speaker 2: one of the things that she wanted to do.
- 5:17Speaker 2: In her music,
- 5:18Speaker 1: better not let her listen to classic Jay Cho songs.
- 5:22Speaker 2: She might. I also, I'm Chinese and I don't know
- 5:24Speaker 2: what he's saying. Can you stop referencing that one song
- 5:28Speaker 2: that you know? No, it's a different song. He has
- 5:30Speaker 2: many other songs.
- 5:31Speaker 1: The one song always says it's
- 5:35Speaker 2: a problem and both sounded the same when you did that.
- 5:37Speaker 2: I think you stick to your day job better. Coming
- 5:39Speaker 2: up in just a few minutes, something.
- 5:41Speaker 2: The thing that really, really, truly broke my heart when
- 5:43Speaker 2: I saw this, um, article and images over the weekend, OK.
- 5:48Speaker 2: You know that I love my animals, we both do.
- 5:50Speaker 2: And I've especially a soft spot for dogs and anything
- 5:54Speaker 2: that you can keep as pets, really. I've had a
- 5:57Speaker 2: few pets in my life, but now, you know, with
- 5:59Speaker 2: Maxine in our lives, although she lives with my parents,
- 6:03Speaker 2: she is like the sister that I never had, OK.
- 6:06Speaker 2: And my parents treat her like a daughter, seriously, like
- 6:08Speaker 2: because I don't live with them anymore and she's like
- 6:11Speaker 2: the second daughter.
- 6:11Speaker 1: I'm sorry to break it to you,
- 6:16Speaker 2: even though she's her? Yeah, OK. Yeah, fine, fine, fine.
- 6:18Speaker 1: Maxi enjoying life.
- 6:20Speaker 2: I know yesterday, um, it was so funny because my,
- 6:22Speaker 2: my mom went to like do something. So I had
- 6:25Speaker 2: to walk up to my place with my dad and Maxi, OK.
- 6:30Speaker 2: So we went to like go charge his vehicle and
- 6:32Speaker 2: then we took the lift up.
- 6:33Speaker 2: Along the way, she wanted to like stop and sniff around,
- 6:37Speaker 2: you know, dogs just want to like sniff and then
- 6:38Speaker 2: maybe they might pee a little bit or like mark
- 6:40Speaker 2: their spot or something, right? But she's just kind of
- 6:43Speaker 2: curious and sniffing, probably smelled other dogs. Then she go
- 6:45Speaker 2: and lick some dirt on the ground, OK, I don't
- 6:47Speaker 2: know what, like a ball of dust or something. So
- 6:50Speaker 2: then I, I saw her like sort of doing something
- 6:53Speaker 2: weird with her mouth, like she was trying to get
- 6:55Speaker 2: something out from her mouth, you know.
- 6:57Speaker 2: And I was like, OK, stop, stop, stop, stop, stop.
- 6:58Speaker 2: So I, I knelt down and I tried to, I
- 7:01Speaker 2: forced open her mouth and grabbed out this ball of
- 7:03Speaker 2: dust with hair. It was so gross, OK. So my
- 7:07Speaker 2: dad like scolded her lah. He was like, Maxi, why
- 7:09Speaker 2: are you like that? Like, don't, don't, don't anyhow eat
- 7:11Speaker 2: dirty things, OK, in his dad's voice. And then she
- 7:15Speaker 2: looks at him like with a pitiful face, you know,
- 7:17Speaker 2: like the, like, what did I do kind of face, right?
- 7:19Speaker 2: So I yanked the ball of dust out and we
- 7:21Speaker 2: walked up and he was like, Don't be a naughty girl.
- 7:23Speaker 2: Like he scolded her. So we went up. I could
- 7:26Speaker 2: see he felt quite bad, you know, after that. He
- 7:29Speaker 2: started giving her treats, started telling my mommy, give me,
- 7:33Speaker 2: give me some egg, give me some carrot. My mom
- 7:35Speaker 2: was like, Stop feeding her. She's overweight.
- 7:38Speaker 2: Then I looked at my dad and I was like,
- 7:39Speaker 2: you feel bad, right? You, right? You score just now
- 7:43Speaker 2: you feel bad, right? Then he laughed. Anyway, I digress,
- 7:46Speaker 2: but this is just to show our soft spot for animals.
- 7:49Speaker 2: Thanks for joining us. So, like I mentioned earlier, very,
- 7:53Speaker 2: very sad news. When I saw this, I felt very
- 7:55Speaker 2: heartbroken as an animal lover, OK? And um, I, I'm
- 7:59Speaker 2: not just like into dogs or like a fan of dogs.
- 8:02Speaker 2: It's all animals, right?
- 8:04Speaker 2: And it broke my heart when I saw these boxes
- 8:07Speaker 2: of rabbits allegedly abandoned at a roadside in the Seletar area,
- 8:12Speaker 2: and some of these rabbits are just babies that were
- 8:15Speaker 2: a few days old. Can you believe it, Joe? It's
- 8:18Speaker 2: really sad. Um, several of the female rabbits reportedly may
- 8:22Speaker 2: be pregnant as well. It almost seems OK.
- 8:25Speaker 2: Judging from this, and um I'm just speculating here, it
- 8:29Speaker 2: could be an unethical breeder that didn't quite know what
- 8:33Speaker 2: to do next, because I think some of the rabbits
- 8:35Speaker 2: were not in very good health and not in good
- 8:37Speaker 2: shape at all. In fact, it was suspected that some
- 8:40Speaker 2: of the rabbits might even have been abused or injured,
- 8:43Speaker 2: or I don't know how they sustained these injuries, but
- 8:45Speaker 2: They were abandoned on the roadside in very, very, very
- 8:48Speaker 2: poor condition just two days ago.
- 8:50Speaker 1: So
- 8:50Speaker 1: I'm sure there will be an investigation right now. Yeah,
- 8:53Speaker 2: the
- 8:53Speaker 2: police have been called in to check this out.
- 8:55Speaker 1: Yeah, and they might use all the CCTV footage from
- 8:58Speaker 1: lampposts or maybe even uh dashboard camera footage from all
- 9:03Speaker 1: the vehicles around the area.
- 9:05Speaker 2: I
- 9:05Speaker 2: don't know, it's just so sad. Like, why would you
- 9:08Speaker 2: do this? So, um, some people speculated that do you
- 9:12Speaker 2: think
- 9:13Speaker 2: They release rabbits into areas with large amount of vegetation
- 9:17Speaker 2: because they think like, oh, rabbits can survive on their
- 9:18Speaker 2: own or something, but they're babies and they can be
- 9:21Speaker 2: exposed to really a range of dangers, I think attacks
- 9:25Speaker 2: by other animals, people who pick them up and abuse
- 9:28Speaker 2: them and being hit by vehicles, because some of the
- 9:30Speaker 2: rabbits were hopping around the road. They didn't know what
- 9:32Speaker 2: to
- 9:32Speaker 2: do.
- 9:32Speaker 1: And also if I'm not wrong, the Seletar, the quieter areas.
- 9:38Speaker 1: Got a lot of stray dogs down there. Yeah,
- 9:40Speaker 2: so they might just, you know, these are animals. These
- 9:42Speaker 2: are wild animals. You can't stop them. That's the problem, right? Yeah,
- 9:45Speaker 1: I'm looking at the pictures of the rabbit right now.
- 9:47Speaker 1: It's very
- 9:47Speaker 2: sad. I don't I can't. I can't. OK,
- 9:50Speaker 1: even though it's sad, I'm glad they have been found.
- 9:52Speaker 2: Yeah, they are gonna be nursed back to health. Some
- 9:55Speaker 2: of
- 9:55Speaker 1: them are very cute.
- 9:56Speaker 2: Yeah, you want to adopt bunny.
- 9:58Speaker 2: I mean, bunnies are not as high maintenance as dogs,
- 10:01Speaker 2: I would say.
- 10:02Speaker 1: No, but I must say if you adopt a male
- 10:04Speaker 1: and a female bunny, good luck to you. Oh yeah,
- 10:07Speaker 1: because they mate and they reproduce like
- 10:09Speaker 1: crazy
- 10:09Speaker 2: would you do it? Just get one lonely, poor thing.
- 10:12Speaker 2: Then get him a bro lah, bro, bros hanging out.
- 10:16Speaker 2: Just a very random fact here. Olivia Dean never wanted
- 10:19Speaker 2: to do pop music, is what I just found out.
- 10:23Speaker 1: And then look what
- 10:24Speaker 2: happened. Exactly. So she just kind of fell into it,
- 10:27Speaker 2: I would say. She, I think she wanted to explore
- 10:28Speaker 2: other types of like genres before she landed on pop
- 10:32Speaker 2: and she's just perfect for it. But hey,
- 10:34Speaker 1: she's popping off, no pun intended.
- 10:36Speaker 1: When it comes to the charts and her music, so
- 10:38Speaker 1: well done to her. When we come back though, oh,
- 10:41Speaker 1: what a weekend it was filled with controversy, interesting brands
- 10:48Speaker 1: with imagery, and of course Ed Sheeran.
- 10:52Speaker 1: Gonna summarize everything for you and I'm gonna be very objective.
- 10:57Speaker 1: Shall we start with Converse and Espers Karina, Sonia?
- 11:02Speaker 2: I guess you have to have a conversation about it. Yes,
- 11:05Speaker 2: no pun intended.
- 11:06Speaker 1: OK, controversy number one.
- 11:09Speaker 1: Unfortunately involving the guys over at
- 11:12Speaker 2: Converse,
- 11:13Speaker 1: which I didn't know this, Nike actually owns the brand Converse.
- 11:18Speaker 1: They do. I was like, really, that's interesting because I
- 11:20Speaker 1: was wondering why people on threads and on Reddit, why
- 11:25Speaker 1: were they attacking both Converse and Nike? Then I realized, oh,
- 11:28Speaker 1: the
- 11:28Speaker 2: relation acquired.
- 11:30Speaker 2: A few years ago I think. So
- 11:31Speaker 1: all
- 11:31Speaker 2: I
- 11:32Speaker 1: can
- 11:32Speaker 1: say is Sonia, I'm very happy this did not involve
- 11:34Speaker 1: your shoe collection with Pretty
- 11:36Speaker 2: Fit. No, not at all, not at all.
- 11:38Speaker 1: So, um, the internet is actually very split about this
- 11:41Speaker 1: one because you would know Espa's Karina. Yeah,
- 11:45Speaker 2: she's the star of that video.
- 11:47Speaker 1: She has a Chuck 70X trainer and the photos and
- 11:53Speaker 1: the imagery that was used.
- 11:55Speaker 1: Yeah, when I first saw it, I
- 11:57Speaker 1: was like,
- 11:58Speaker 2: oh, I know I had to do a double take
- 12:00Speaker 2: as well, to be honest, on the picture.
- 12:02Speaker 1: So I'm just gonna say it one time. What people
- 12:05Speaker 1: online are saying is it's very akin to the Ku
- 12:08Speaker 1: Klux Klan and the lynching that they used
- 12:11Speaker 1: to do.
- 12:12Speaker 2: If you did history back in school, this would have
- 12:15Speaker 2: been mentioned before actually this whole era.
- 12:17Speaker 1: So people are saying that, hey, you know, how can
- 12:19Speaker 1: you do this so blatantly in your face? It's racist.
- 12:23Speaker 1: And then on the other side of social media, people
- 12:27Speaker 1: are like, I didn't see what you're seeing. How is
- 12:30Speaker 1: this racist? And by the way, to our friends over
- 12:32Speaker 1: at America, you guys aren't the only ones existing on this,
- 12:35Speaker 1: on this earth. So when I saw the picture.
- 12:39Speaker 1: Yeah, I got a shock as well. And then when
- 12:41Speaker 1: I looked at it again, I went,
- 12:42Speaker 2: oh,
- 12:43Speaker 1: OK, and I moved on very
- 12:45Speaker 2: quick. OK, I have a theory about this, right? Um, perhaps,
- 12:51Speaker 2: perhaps a portion of the world did not see it
- 12:54Speaker 2: that way because it is not a big part of
- 12:57Speaker 2: our history.
- 12:58Speaker 2: Our history, our culture and our history in our country.
- 13:02Speaker 2: But for people who have been through that and who
- 13:05Speaker 2: have known their ancestors or their great great great great
- 13:08Speaker 2: grandparents or who have experienced or gone through that, then
- 13:11Speaker 2: perhaps I understand why they identified it immediately. It is
- 13:15Speaker 2: very contextual.
- 13:18Speaker 1: I think Singapore.
- 13:19Speaker 1: Converse themselves, they put out a public apology. they did.
- 13:22Speaker 1: We're sorry. We understand why this image is deeply upsetting
- 13:25Speaker 1: and recognize that we got this wrong. I think that
- 13:28Speaker 1: was about it. So people are asking, so who approved this?
- 13:32Speaker 1: Is anyone getting fired? What, what's happening
- 13:34Speaker 2: here? There's some valid questions on social media, um, someone
- 13:38Speaker 2: actually commented saying a professional photographer actually weighed in on
- 13:42Speaker 2: this and said they always know what they're doing.
- 13:46Speaker 2: As in that means people are thinking that it's intentional.
- 13:49Speaker 2: Like it cannot be unintentional, but I don't know, man.
- 13:52Speaker 2: This is, this is a tough call.
- 13:54Speaker 1: And
- 13:54Speaker 1: your social media for the meaning behind the pictures that
- 14:01Speaker 1: they posted on social media.
- 14:03Speaker 2: Yeah. Well, you know, it's a, it's, it's a very
- 14:06Speaker 2: intriguing read, I will say, and I, that was not
- 14:10Speaker 2: a conversation I expected.
- 14:11Speaker 2: To explode on social media. Oh yeah, yeah, that was
- 14:14Speaker 2: not something we expected.
- 14:15Speaker 1: There you go. Reddit and threads, the place you want
- 14:18Speaker 1: to be for a while.
- 14:22Speaker 1: Yes
- 14:22Speaker 2: and no. I will say sometimes the comments and the
- 14:25Speaker 2: conversations they're quite triggering. Yes, it can be. OK, so
- 14:28Speaker 2: like I mentioned earlier, bit concerning now because last week, uh,
- 14:33Speaker 2: one of the pieces of news that dominated our Singapore.
- 14:36Speaker 2: Social media spaces and news spaces was about the closure
- 14:40Speaker 2: of quite a popular fitness and yoga joints. Yeah. Yeah,
- 14:46Speaker 2: so that one quite a big name that we've known
- 14:49Speaker 2: for a number of years already. On the back of that,
- 14:52Speaker 2: yet another yoga place called Yoga Inc. They're also a chain, yeah,
- 14:58Speaker 2: they're a chain. They've officially closed the last two outlets
- 15:02Speaker 2: in Singapore and
- 15:03Speaker 2: The students and teachers were allegedly not told of the closure.
- 15:08Speaker 1: Yeah,
- 15:08Speaker 2: another one, joking. What's going on?
- 15:10Speaker 1: I just checked the yoga.
- 15:14Speaker 2: Yo. Yes, it's still running,
- 15:15Speaker 1: you know.
- 15:16Speaker 2: What do you mean you mean the website is still running? Yeah,
- 15:19Speaker 2: it's still up, but the, the outlets are gone.
- 15:22Speaker 2: So, instructors were apparently informed that Yoga Inc.'s remaining two outlets,
- 15:25Speaker 2: which are situated at Safra Punggol and our Tampines hub,
- 15:28Speaker 2: ceased operations effective immediately. Like it was just a very
- 15:33Speaker 2: short statement. It just said, dear all, please be informed.
- 15:36Speaker 2: That Yoga Inc. is closed to further notice. We seek
- 15:38Speaker 2: your kind understanding.
- 15:40Speaker 1: Their Instagram profile is down. Oh, OK,
- 15:43Speaker 2: OK.
- 15:44Speaker 1: So yeah, I wonder what's gonna
- 15:47Speaker 2: happen. Like, can you imagine you are an instructor, OK,
- 15:50Speaker 2: and this is your job. This is something that you
- 15:52Speaker 2: do every day. One instructor actually shared that, um, she
- 15:56Speaker 2: just woke up one day, realized all her classes at
- 15:59Speaker 2: Yoga Inc. Tampines were canceled. That that's how she found out.
- 16:02Speaker 2: So that was immediately suspicious and um she got a
- 16:06Speaker 2: message shortly after that they ceased operations, but no.
- 16:10Speaker 2: Not much explanation was given. What we understand is that
- 16:14Speaker 2: it could be operational issues, so maybe all signs point
- 16:17Speaker 2: towards like not being able to pay rent.
- 16:20Speaker 1: Maybe I'm the gym instructors, yoga instructors, even your instructors,
- 16:26Speaker 1: anything that's a fitness studio, right, there's an instructor.
- 16:29Speaker 1: They could be the last to know on how it's
- 16:32Speaker 1: being run and what's happening with the management of powers
- 16:35Speaker 1: that be.
- 16:36Speaker 2: What's the scary thing is, the scary thing is that
- 16:38Speaker 2: customers have reported losses of more than $600,000 in total
- 16:44Speaker 2: in unutilized memberships and packages, OK.
- 16:48Speaker 2: So our conversation that we had last week about unused
- 16:50Speaker 2: packages and that, it continues with this case right now.
- 16:54Speaker 1: So I guess you have to really do your research
- 16:56Speaker 1: and see if the studio you're gonna sign up
- 16:58Speaker 1: with.
- 16:59Speaker 2: Yeah, but you see, the problem is on the back
- 17:01Speaker 2: of all these sketchy incidents and lack of communication.
- 17:07Speaker 2: It might hurt the other businesses that are actually reliable
- 17:10Speaker 2: and reputable and that are actually selling packages that people want,
- 17:14Speaker 2: you know. So I, I, I'm worried for some of
- 17:16Speaker 2: these other businesses and the perception of how the public now,
- 17:19Speaker 2: the perception of the public has about packages.
- 17:22Speaker 1: And in the practice of yoga, there are plenty of
- 17:25Speaker 1: studios here in Singapore.
- 17:27Speaker 2: Hey, um, if you're able to just support the ones
- 17:30Speaker 2: that you love, right, and the ones that are near you, perhaps,
- 17:33Speaker 2: especially in your neighborhood or the ones that your friends are,
- 17:36Speaker 2: are running.
- 17:38Speaker 1: I mean, it's the question that we
- 17:43Speaker 1: want to know.
- 17:44Speaker 2: It's a really egg, man. So here's hoping that if
- 17:47Speaker 2: you're on your way to a fit.
- 17:48Speaker 2: class today. Have a good one.
- 17:50Speaker 1: we go from music to the world of sports now.
- 17:52Speaker 1: Oh yeah, for the Asian Games and actually the Copenhagen
- 17:57Speaker 1: run that happened over the weekend in Denmark. So I
- 18:01Speaker 1: think we start with Asian Games first. Congrats to people
- 18:03Speaker 1: like Gan Ching Hui, Zen Law, as well as Tiffany
- 18:05Speaker 1: Teo for winning medals for Singapore.
- 18:09Speaker 1: Performing very well in their sport of tai chi, swimming,
- 18:12Speaker 1: and MMA respectively. And then we go to Copenhagen in
- 18:17Speaker 1: Denmark where again this guy Sean Goh.
- 18:21Speaker 1: Lowering his national 5 kilometer record to 14.47. 14 minutes
- 18:31Speaker 1: and 47 seconds, he ran 5 km. Can I read
- 18:34Speaker 1: to you his pacing? Are you ready? Yeah,
- 18:37Speaker 2: OK. OK, it might be lost on me, but sure. No,
- 18:40Speaker 1: he runs his first km in 2 minutes and 52 seconds.
- 18:44Speaker 2: You what?
- 18:46Speaker 1: Yeah, his second KM 258. In the third km he
- 18:49Speaker 1: ran 302, 4th KM 251, and his last KM 252.
- 18:55Speaker 2: So he's basically almost sprinting all the way.
- 18:58Speaker 1: Exactly, yeah
- 19:01Speaker 1: I cannot even keep up with this pace for 400 m.
- 19:04Speaker 1: I
- 19:04Speaker 2: mean, do you know how long I take to complete
- 19:06Speaker 2: 5 kilometers?
- 19:09Speaker 2: Like, OK, at my best, I think it was like
- 19:12Speaker 2: 35 minutes. 35 minutes was my best. I, I recorded it.
- 19:16Speaker 2: But now I'm not at my fittest, I would say
- 19:18Speaker 2: I haven't been running and you know, my ankle, ankle
- 19:20Speaker 2: injury and all that, right? Um, I haven't been tried,
- 19:24Speaker 2: I haven't tried to run at all, but I would
- 19:26Speaker 2: say like sometimes I'll take even like 40 minutes like
- 19:28Speaker 2: a jog kind of situation. And then um I do
- 19:31Speaker 2: this thing where like if I want to do more cardio,
- 19:34Speaker 2: I'll listen to songs, right? When the chorus play, I
- 19:36Speaker 2: will sprint.
- 19:39Speaker 2: And when the verse plays, I'll just drop. Interval training. Hey,
- 19:44Speaker 1: you know what? Whatever gets you there. Well done. I'm
- 19:48Speaker 1: very proud of you.
- 19:48Speaker 2: OK, thank you.
- 19:49Speaker 1: And shout out to Vanessa Lee, Nicole as well, all
- 19:52Speaker 1: who
- 19:52Speaker 2: are
- 19:53Speaker 1: in
- 19:53Speaker 2: Denmark.
- 19:53Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah,
- 19:54Speaker 2: lovely stuff. Um, keep cheering them on. Also, our friend
- 19:58Speaker 2: Kathryn Roberts reporting live from the Asian Games itself. In Japan, Japan, yes,
- 20:03Speaker 2: in Japan.
- 20:04Speaker 1: Enjoy one bowl of Iudo for me please Catherine. Hey, why, why,
- 20:08Speaker 2: why you laughing? I do love it. I love it
- 20:09Speaker 2: as well, yeah, it's great.
- 20:12Speaker 1: OK. Long story short to summarize the whole Ed Sheeran
- 20:16Speaker 1: drama before we give you an update. Uh, sometime last week,
- 20:20Speaker 1: I think it was on a Monday or Tuesday, if
- 20:23Speaker 1: you follow Macklemore the rapper.
- 20:26Speaker 1: He posted a very long Instagram carousel post explaining why
- 20:31Speaker 1: he has been dropped from the opening act of Ed
- 20:35Speaker 1: Sheeran's tour in the US and of course he said
- 20:37Speaker 1: free Palestine and all that, to which, um, the stadium
- 20:42Speaker 1: owners in the US didn't weren't too happy and they
- 20:46Speaker 1: called Ed Sheeran.
- 20:47Speaker 1: Saying if Macklemore performs for your opening act, we'll ban
- 20:50Speaker 1: the tour from our stadiums. So I guess the tour
- 20:54Speaker 1: promoters actually pulled Macklemore off the set, and then all
- 20:58Speaker 1: the opening acts, because of this saying, hey, you know what,
- 21:00Speaker 1: I can't stand for this. I'm going to drop out
- 21:02Speaker 1: of Ed Sheeran's concert as well, and his live band
- 21:05Speaker 1: even dropped out of the tour. So people are putting
- 21:09Speaker 1: pressure and asking Ed Sheeran, So are you gonna say anything?
- 21:12Speaker 1: Are you gonna come out and say anything?
- 21:14Speaker 1: So during his concert over at Philadelphia, he, ah, this
- 21:18Speaker 1: one a bit, I also feel why did he do that?
- 21:22Speaker 1: I feel that he should have at least memorized his
- 21:26Speaker 1: pointers and go out there and speak to the crowd
- 21:30Speaker 1: because
- 21:31Speaker 1: you know
- 21:32Speaker 2: it's a very tricky and sensitive issue, you
- 21:34Speaker 1: know, at a moment like this people will be putting
- 21:36Speaker 1: the cameras on
- 21:37Speaker 1: you.
- 21:38Speaker 2: Yeah, and,
- 21:39Speaker 1: and social media would nitpick at every single thing that
- 21:43Speaker 1: you do. So why give them more ammo? He was
- 21:47Speaker 1: reading off a teleprompter and he started his address by
- 21:51Speaker 1: addressing whatever happened on October 7th a few years ago.
- 21:55Speaker 1: And he went on a full explaining himself to which
- 22:00Speaker 1: again when it comes to something like this, half will
- 22:03Speaker 1: buy it and half will not buy what you're selling.
- 22:05Speaker 2: I think you know, that are not what you're selling,
- 22:11Speaker 2: there's nothing that you can say now that can fix
- 22:12Speaker 2: the situation. I think that's what some people are saying
- 22:15Speaker 2: on social media right now. Like the damage has been done.
- 22:18Speaker 1: Whenever he says the phrase we don't take sides. I'm
- 22:20Speaker 1: just trying to be not political on my shows and
- 22:23Speaker 1: all that.
- 22:24Speaker 1: That picture of him in the Ukrainian flag,
- 22:26Speaker 2: it doesn't help the situation resurfaces. And I think, you know,
- 22:30Speaker 2: for a lot of people also, they're saying by not
- 22:32Speaker 2: taking a stand, you're taking a stand, you know, so.
- 22:36Speaker 2: That, that, that's a very tricky one to navigate. I
- 22:38Speaker 2: don't know how this is gonna transpire, but apparently the tickets, uh,
- 22:44Speaker 2: like the price of the tickets have dropped like 50%
- 22:46Speaker 2: or something. Yeah,
- 22:47Speaker 1: but to the rumor saying, oh, I don't think anybody
- 22:49Speaker 1: will show up for his concert, uh, Philadelphia stadium packed,
- 22:52Speaker 2: packed, right? sold out. So can you separate your love.
- 22:57Speaker 2: For an artist's music and their own issues and political standing,
- 23:03Speaker 2: that's the question if you think about it
- 23:09Speaker 1: as well.
- 23:10Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, of course. Yeah, it's an extension of you, right?
- 23:14Speaker 2: Apparently September is quite a popular for weddings, OK. So
- 23:18Speaker 1: so far I
- 23:19Speaker 1: have nothing to contribute to this.
- 23:23Speaker 2: I know I have. Don't I know it?
- 23:25Speaker 1: But soon,
- 23:26Speaker 2: maybe September of 2027, 2028. 2029.
- 23:31Speaker 1: September of 2,027,030.
- 23:33Speaker 2: OK, I give you the dateline.
- 23:34Speaker 1: Can you wait? Can I explain first, huh? September of 2027,
- 23:38Speaker 1: that means I must have met someone who is ready
- 23:40Speaker 1: and we know, OK, we love each other, it's gonna
- 23:43Speaker 1: be convenient.
- 23:44Speaker 2: Let's go. To be honest, I feel like.
- 23:46Speaker 2: The more mature you are, or the, you know, well,
- 23:50Speaker 2: as the years go by, when you meet someone that
- 23:54Speaker 2: you really like around the same age group as you
- 23:56Speaker 2: or same phase of life as you, it could happen
- 23:58Speaker 2: very quickly, you know, because you already, you don't want
- 24:01Speaker 2: to play games anymore. You're like, OK, I know, I
- 24:03Speaker 2: want to settle with you, maybe we'll just do it.
- 24:04Speaker 2: People get engaged within like what, 11
- 24:06Speaker 1: year or 2 years. It doesn't mean I'm boring. It
- 24:08Speaker 1: means I've seen enough. OK.
- 24:11Speaker 2: Other people also seen enough. I
- 24:13Speaker 1: want to maintain my.
- 24:14Speaker 2: OK, got you.
- 24:16Speaker 2: But uh it being quite a popular month and maybe
- 24:19Speaker 2: there are some dates around this Q4 timing of the
- 24:22Speaker 2: year that are quite popular. I've attended a couple of
- 24:25Speaker 2: weddings already and um this this got me wondering because
- 24:29Speaker 2: for the most part, I would say 95% of the
- 24:32Speaker 2: guests are dressed appropriately, OK, for, for weddings and usually
- 24:37Speaker 2: they'll give you a dress code or something. Sometimes the
- 24:40Speaker 2: very particular ones might even give you a color palette.
- 24:43Speaker 2: To which, you know, um, at least you have something
- 24:45Speaker 2: to follow,
- 24:46Speaker 1: right? Yeah, and to the weddings, I think I've attended weddings,
- 24:51Speaker 1: the last ones, if you're going to invites with color palettes,
- 24:55Speaker 1: can you put red, blue, orange, don't, don't come and
- 24:58Speaker 1: give me all this midnight fusion.
- 25:01Speaker 1: Nonsense color palette
- 25:02Speaker 2: midnight blue.
- 25:03Speaker 1: I mean, no, like they'll give some random phrase and
- 25:05Speaker 1: weird name whimsical tropical. Oh, you mean
- 25:08Speaker 2: like the
- 25:09Speaker 2: theme, that's the theme
- 25:10Speaker 1: like hello, just give me a
- 25:11Speaker 1: color.
- 25:12Speaker 2: I'll wear it. You've been to a wedding with a
- 25:14Speaker 2: theme called whimsical tropical forest.
- 25:16Speaker 1: Close enough,
- 25:17Speaker 1: yeah, something like
- 25:18Speaker 1: that,
- 25:18Speaker 2: OK.
- 25:19Speaker 2: Anyway, um, aside from the obvious, which is perhaps color
- 25:23Speaker 2: palette and whether it's extremely formal or smart casual or whatever, um,
- 25:28Speaker 2: I think everything else is really up to your own discretion.
- 25:31Speaker 2: For example, what you deem as appropriate for a wedding, OK?
- 25:35Speaker 2: I can give you the color palette. I can say,
- 25:38Speaker 2: I can say formal.
- 25:39Speaker 2: But you might still see a couple of people show
- 25:42Speaker 2: up in like plunging necklines or like super short skirts
- 25:45Speaker 2: or even um not a proper tux, you know, things
- 25:49Speaker 2: like that. And I feel that really comes down to
- 25:51Speaker 2: the individual.
- 25:52Speaker 1: I think for the bro
- 25:53Speaker 1: it's quite simple. You just wear your best suit. It
- 25:56Speaker 1: could be your
- 25:56Speaker 1: business,
- 25:57Speaker 2: but even some, some people.
- 25:59Speaker 2: I saw some people who didn't read the message obviously
- 26:02Speaker 2: or the invitation and they show up with no jacket. Yeah,
- 26:04Speaker 1: I've seen bros who come to the weddings and jeans,
- 26:08Speaker 2: and then everyone else is in a suit or tux.
- 26:10Speaker 2: So it's like what do you do and
- 26:12Speaker 2: Um, it was, it was interesting because I did observe
- 26:16Speaker 2: a couple of, um, guests who wore what I thought
- 26:20Speaker 2: was quite inappropriate. OK, so you, you tell me whether
- 26:22Speaker 2: you think this is inappropriate, OK. Um, a super plunging
- 26:26Speaker 2: like V neckline where you can see like most assets
- 26:32Speaker 2: of this person, um, and it's not your wedding. I mean,
- 26:35Speaker 2: it's someone else's wedding, OK? And this person was like
- 26:38Speaker 2: a plus one of uh someone else.
- 26:42Speaker 2: And I did see another person. There was a guy
- 26:45Speaker 2: that forgot, I think forgot the, forgot to check the
- 26:50Speaker 2: dress code. OK, fine, that one poor thing la, he
- 26:51Speaker 2: was quite embarrassed about it, but there was another lady,
- 26:55Speaker 2: and she looked great. Honestly, I, I am not putting
- 26:58Speaker 2: my fellow women down. I think they look great, fantastic.
- 27:00Speaker 2: I think it's very flattering for your body type and everything,
- 27:03Speaker 2: but I was given a choice, a personal choice.
- 27:08Speaker 2: I don't know if I would have worn that to
- 27:11Speaker 2: someone else's wedding, if you get what I mean, if
- 27:14Speaker 2: you get what I mean.
- 27:16Speaker 1: Given the lady was a plus one.
- 27:20Speaker 1: I was under the impression maybe she wore that to,
- 27:23Speaker 1: you know, maybe meet someone at the wedding,
- 27:27Speaker 1: OK,
- 27:28Speaker 2: yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 27:29Speaker 1: I
- 27:29Speaker 1: think you're asking the worst person here because I, I
- 27:32Speaker 1: don't know.
- 27:32Speaker 2: You don't have any opinions on this. OK, so I,
- 27:35Speaker 2: I've had friends.
- 27:37Speaker 1: I have an opinion. I'm just scared to say it
- 27:39Speaker 1: out loud in case people say, how can you be
- 27:41Speaker 1: so
- 27:42Speaker 1: dated,
- 27:42Speaker 2: I'll say it because I, I have a friend, and
- 27:45Speaker 2: she's Gen Z, by the way, who got married recently
- 27:48Speaker 2: as well.
- 27:49Speaker 2: And she actually felt the need to tell one or
- 27:52Speaker 2: two people to dress properly because she had a feeling
- 27:56Speaker 2: that they might show up in such dresses. So she
- 28:00Speaker 2: openly told them and gave them a heads up saying like, hey, please,
- 28:04Speaker 2: no mini, no miniskirts, no like plunging necklines, whatever, because
- 28:07Speaker 2: I think she already knew, she knows their style and
- 28:10Speaker 2: she
- 28:11Speaker 2: It's not, it's not meant to have any bad intentions,
- 28:14Speaker 2: but they may not be aware. So that's why she
- 28:16Speaker 2: decided to do that.
- 28:17Speaker 1: Were you
- 28:18Speaker 1: the only one who felt this way about the ladies
- 28:20Speaker 1: at the wedding?
- 28:21Speaker 2: No, actually there were a couple of people who talked
- 28:23Speaker 2: about it as well,
- 28:25Speaker 1: and they were a mix of bros and cis or
- 28:27Speaker 1: mostly women.
- 28:28Speaker 2: Um, well, only I think the bros won't dare to
- 28:30Speaker 2: say anything.
- 28:31Speaker 2: Yeah, so it was mainly like a couple of girls
- 28:34Speaker 2: that were like, hm, interesting choice of outfit, you know,
- 28:36Speaker 2: kind of thing, because a bit, yeah, I think it
- 28:39Speaker 2: was a bit too much.
- 28:40Speaker 1: A personal
- 28:40Speaker 1: rule for me is I'll always ask, Hey, what's your
- 28:42Speaker 1: groom gonna wear or, you know, what, what color is
- 28:45Speaker 1: your suit? So I'll make sure I will not clash
- 28:49Speaker 1: with the groom and also yes.
- 28:52Speaker 1: Make sure that my style of suit is, how, how,
- 28:55Speaker 1: how do I say this, a step lower from the
- 28:57Speaker 1: groom to make sure that he gets the spotlight and
- 29:00Speaker 1: no one takes away anything from the groom itself.
- 29:02Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, no, I, I feel that way too. I mean,
- 29:05Speaker 2: I don't know whether it's just our own personal opinions
- 29:08Speaker 2: because I wouldn't call us like prudes or, you know,
- 29:11Speaker 2: old fashioned or anything. Come on, like it's
- 29:14Speaker 1: us,
- 29:18Speaker 2: me, a prudes. We're definitely not prudes.
- 29:18Speaker 1: Sonia's got jokes
- 29:19Speaker 1: on a Monday morning.
- 29:21Speaker 2: Give us a call at 669-11987 or drop us a
- 29:25Speaker 2: message 90050987. Have you ever come across this kind of
- 29:31Speaker 2: situation before where you noticed someone dressed quite inappropriately for
- 29:36Speaker 2: someone else's wedding, or were you the bride and groom
- 29:40Speaker 2: that were not too happy with the way some of
- 29:42Speaker 2: your guests dressed?
- 29:44Speaker 1: You can remain anonymous if you want to. Please do,
- 29:46Speaker 1: please do. You can call us or you can WhatsApp
- 29:49Speaker 1: us at 90050987. But
- 29:52Speaker 2: anyway, we want to kick things off here with a
- 29:54Speaker 2: bit of a spicy topic here today because September has
- 29:56Speaker 2: been quite a wedding season, wedding heavy so far. And
- 30:00Speaker 2: from what I understand from like my friends who work
- 30:02Speaker 2: in hotels and all, they say, yeah, this Q4 period,
- 30:05Speaker 2: like September, October, quite busy. I don't know, there's some
- 30:08Speaker 2: auspicious dates coming up, I guess, quite popular timing for everyone.
- 30:12Speaker 2: So, generally, I think you might attend a few and
- 30:15Speaker 2: this got me thinking because just based on observation over
- 30:19Speaker 2: the past few ones that I've attended, right, there were
- 30:22Speaker 2: one or two guests that were quite, in my opinion,
- 30:27Speaker 2: inappropriately dressed for a wedding.
- 30:29Speaker 2: And like we said earlier, we are no prudes. We're like,
- 30:33Speaker 2: we're not, we're not people who like judge other people
- 30:37Speaker 2: because of your dressing and all that, but I think
- 30:38Speaker 2: when it comes down to weddings, a certain level of
- 30:42Speaker 2: respect is still
- 30:43Speaker 2: needed.
- 30:44Speaker 1: I mean, I'm proud the majority of us have what
- 30:46Speaker 1: they call common sense la. Yeah, you know what I mean?
- 30:49Speaker 1: It
- 30:49Speaker 2: is your own personal thoughts. So
- 30:51Speaker 1: I
- 30:51Speaker 2: want
- 30:51Speaker 1: to say good morning to Kishan on WhatsApp.
- 30:54Speaker 1: Promakal. Hey Sonia and joking, we got married during the
- 30:57Speaker 1: COVID period, so only our immediate families were there for
- 31:00Speaker 1: our ROM. We told everyone to dress well because we
- 31:04Speaker 1: wanted to take a very nice big family portrait with
- 31:07Speaker 1: both families together after the ROM. I went all out
- 31:11Speaker 1: and wore a three-piece suit with a bow tie. Then
- 31:13Speaker 1: my brother-in-law shows up wearing the exact same three-piece suit
- 31:16Speaker 1: in the exact same color.
- 31:19Speaker 1: I'm not usually one to care about these things, but
- 31:21Speaker 1: when we got to the studio, even the camera crew
- 31:23Speaker 1: couldn't tell who the groom was.
- 31:27Speaker 2: Then how? How? What happened?
- 31:29Speaker 1: I think they had a good laugh about it, I guess. OK,
- 31:31Speaker 2: OK, OK. At least this one was quite funny. Yeah,
- 31:34Speaker 2: at
- 31:34Speaker 1: this point, I want to give a shout out to
- 31:35Speaker 1: one of our favorite people, Sonia, Kelly Latimer.
- 31:38Speaker 2: Oh yeah, she dropped us both the same DM and
- 31:40Speaker 2: the pictures. Oh man,
- 31:42Speaker 1: Kelly, I'm gonna actually, uh, change a few.
- 31:44Speaker 1: Words with your message, OK?
- 31:46Speaker 2: You ready? Can you change a lot?
- 31:47Speaker 1: Yeah, I'll change
- 31:47Speaker 1: a lot. OK. So Kelly sends us a picture of
- 31:51Speaker 1: someone and she types, this was a guest at a
- 31:54Speaker 1: wedding that I was at. All husbands were banned from
- 31:58Speaker 1: looking at this person's direction, and honestly, I can see why, yeah.
- 32:05Speaker 2: Yeah, um, I saw the picture as well. It was,
- 32:07Speaker 2: it's just I, I, I did face palm. I
- 32:10Speaker 1: can give you reasons
- 32:11Speaker 2: as well. Can you, can you please move on, move on.
- 32:16Speaker 1: That's all I'm gonna say,
- 32:17Speaker 2: and
- 32:17Speaker 1: Kelly's husband Justin, what up Justin text me the same
- 32:20Speaker 1: thing as well. And yeah, Justin said, Kelly said, you
- 32:24Speaker 1: are not gonna talk to this person.
- 32:29Speaker 2: Look, here, here's the issue is, you know, you can't
- 32:33Speaker 2: do much about it in that moment. Everyone's already there,
- 32:36Speaker 2: like you can't do anything.
- 32:38Speaker 2: But it just goes to show what kind of person,
- 32:41Speaker 2: you know, what kind of people are out there with
- 32:44Speaker 2: what kind of intentions also, right?
- 32:46Speaker 1: Honestly. No, that's why. OK,
- 32:53Speaker 2: here's the problem because you're still friends with some of them.
- 32:55Speaker 2: You can still be friends with some of them even
- 32:57Speaker 2: though you don't agree with the kind of energy or
- 32:59Speaker 2: the the kind of image.
- 33:01Speaker 2: They're putting out, right? That's why, um, one or two
- 33:04Speaker 2: of my friends who've had weddings, they specifically knew like
- 33:07Speaker 2: there are one or two people that will show up
- 33:09Speaker 2: in like crazy outfits or inappropriate outfits. They specifically texted
- 33:13Speaker 2: them directly saying, please, please wear something appropriate. OK. So
- 33:17Speaker 2: maybe you can just be direct like this in the future.
- 33:20Speaker 1: We got loads of people wanting to remain anonymous on WhatsApp.
- 33:24Speaker 1: One coming in. Hey guys, I once went to a
- 33:27Speaker 1: friend's wedding and I saw this lady with a super
- 33:30Speaker 1: long dress with a tray and it kept getting caught
- 33:33Speaker 1: on things. I could see the bride getting a little
- 33:35Speaker 1: bit annoyed when she almost tripped over the lady's dress too.
- 33:40Speaker 2: Actually, as a, as a guest, there's no need to
- 33:43Speaker 2: wear a dress with a long trainer.
- 33:46Speaker 1: the bride be the only one with the train.
- 33:49Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly, you should. I mean, OK, um, disclaimer, my,
- 33:53Speaker 2: my dress has a bit of a drag at the
- 33:55Speaker 2: back like fabric, only because I'm too short and um it's,
- 33:59Speaker 2: it's not my dress. So it did drag on the
- 34:02Speaker 2: ground a little bit.
- 34:03Speaker 1: Was the tall as you?
- 34:05Speaker 2: No, it's not. Don't be rude. Moving on to the
- 34:07Speaker 2: next message.
- 34:10Speaker 1: One more coming in. So, hey guys, my wife and
- 34:12Speaker 1: I got married this year in January. During the dinner banquet,
- 34:16Speaker 1: I was shocked to see one of my colleagues actually
- 34:18Speaker 1: wore MCM t-shirt, jeans, and a pair of LV slippers.
- 34:24Speaker 1: Oh slippers. I mean, who would wear a pair of
- 34:27Speaker 1: slip-on slippers to weddings regardless, it's LV or whatever.
- 34:31Speaker 2: Yeah, agree. Actually, you know, I felt the need to
- 34:35Speaker 2: put that in my invitation, especially for the church wedding.
- 34:37Speaker 2: Wedding, you know, like I put, I, I did right there,
- 34:41Speaker 2: smart casual, but no shorts, miniskirts or slippers because I
- 34:45Speaker 2: was kind of worried that people don't really know because
- 34:48Speaker 2: a lot of people may not have stepped into a church. No,
- 34:49Speaker 1: no, no,
- 34:50Speaker 1: well done, but, but
- 34:51Speaker 2: also judging from a lot of our response, it's not
- 34:55Speaker 2: automatic for some people, you know.
- 34:57Speaker 1: Yeah. Can I, can I give you the spiciest so far, Sonia?
- 35:01Speaker 1: Let's go. OK. Hi, Sojo, I'm a mixed Muslim.
- 35:06Speaker 1: And my husband is North Indian. We had an ROM
- 35:09Speaker 1: ceremony in the morning and dinner at Asian Market Cafe
- 35:12Speaker 1: in the evening. I, I wasn't particular about guests wearing
- 35:16Speaker 1: white for weddings, but my lovely mother-in-law turned up wearing
- 35:20Speaker 1: a white, a white silk sari, which is a traditional
- 35:23Speaker 1: symbol of mourning in many Hindu cultures. Oh no. My
- 35:28Speaker 1: husband is still apologetic up till today, and I replied saying, Aiyo.
- 35:32Speaker 1: She replied saying it's OK. I still get to spend
- 35:34Speaker 1: her son's money anyways.
- 35:38Speaker 2: OK, at least there's a silver lining there, or you
- 35:41Speaker 2: could take a joke, you could take a joke. Yeah.
- 35:44Speaker 2: Was she unaware though? That's the question. She's probably just
- 35:47Speaker 2: the
- 35:47Speaker 1: mother-in-law oblivious,
- 35:49Speaker 2: so I don't know, man. Yeah, you would think she
- 35:51Speaker 2: would know because she's like traditional and older, right?
- 35:53Speaker 1: It's the Indian side. Yeah.
- 35:56Speaker 2: Well, this one blows my mind. I don't know what
- 35:57Speaker 2: to say. I don't know what to say. We've got
- 35:59Speaker 2: Ruben on the line right now. What, what, what do
- 36:02Speaker 2: you think or what happened that you can tell us about?
- 36:05Speaker 2: attended this wedding. Uh, it's a friend's wedding, uh, at
- 36:08Speaker 2: a Christian church. This friend usually wearing like those kind
- 36:12Speaker 2: of like wacky outfits, and he came in, uh, you know,
- 36:14Speaker 2: those kind of like, uh, fishnet kind of like top. Yes,
- 36:19Speaker 2: he came in a fishnet top, and then, um, he
- 36:21Speaker 2: was covering himself with a, with a blazer, so I
- 36:24Speaker 2: think everybody thought that it was OK because they could
- 36:26Speaker 2: only see the, the portion that was not covered by
- 36:29Speaker 2: the blazer, which is like sort of his chest area,
- 36:31Speaker 2: but then when he took it out, I think.
- 36:33Speaker 2: Midway of the the service, everybody got a bit of
- 36:35Speaker 2: a shock. It's like, like, oh my God, why is
- 36:38Speaker 2: he wearing the outfit? And did anyone say anything about it?
- 36:41Speaker 2: Like was it even to the dress code. People didn't
- 36:44Speaker 2: really go up to him and say like, OK, can
- 36:45Speaker 2: you put your your blazer back on, but I think
- 36:48Speaker 2: they were giving him the eye, you know, like, like, oh, what,
- 36:51Speaker 2: what's he wearing, you know, what, what's the outfit? Yeah,
- 36:57Speaker 2: you know what that is when you see an inappropriately
- 36:59Speaker 2: dressed guest.
- 37:00Speaker 1: Changing a few things here for our text messages here,
- 37:03Speaker 1: because some are very detailed. If I were to read
- 37:06Speaker 1: it out, it's very obvious who we're talking about already. OK,
- 37:10Speaker 1: so I want to say good morning to anonymous 4.
- 37:12Speaker 1: Hey Sonia and Joakim, many years ago I went to
- 37:15Speaker 1: this wedding where you can wear a polo shirts, or
- 37:18Speaker 1: even a suit if you can take the weather here
- 37:20Speaker 1: as long as you look appropriate and semi-formal. But one
- 37:23Speaker 1: of these uncles decided to wear a soccer jersey to
- 37:27Speaker 1: a wedding.
- 37:31Speaker 2: Oh no, OK, what was it? I'm curious. Not that
- 37:35Speaker 2: it matters.
- 37:35Speaker 1: Not exactly a team, but, uh, I want to give
- 37:38Speaker 1: a shout out to, I mean, you mentioned earlier, Katherine Robert, right? Yeah.
- 37:41Speaker 1: Her cousin Michael Bernard is a good friend of mine.
- 37:43Speaker 1: So his wedding was last year, and the guests came
- 37:46Speaker 1: dressed appropriately and all that, but the couple themselves, for
- 37:49Speaker 1: the second walk-in, they wore Liverpool jerseys.
- 37:52Speaker 2: Oh, OK, but that's fine. They are the,
- 37:55Speaker 1: yeah, to which there was a very loud boo from someone,
- 37:58Speaker 1: you know him quite well, me.
- 38:03Speaker 1: OK, another one coming in. Uh, morning, Sojo. I went
- 38:07Speaker 1: to a good friend's wedding. The groom invited his army friends,
- 38:11Speaker 1: and only one of them brought a plus one. She's
- 38:15Speaker 1: very well endowed, and needless to say, she wore a
- 38:18Speaker 1: plunging neckline. We all thought.
- 38:20Speaker 1: It was very inappropriate. Coincidentally, she's actually my husband's good
- 38:24Speaker 1: friend's ex who ended up cheating on him, and she
- 38:28Speaker 1: was quite a violent person. She's now a micro-influencer. As
- 38:33Speaker 1: she attracted a lot of attention, people eventually found out
- 38:36Speaker 1: that she insisted on attending the
- 38:39Speaker 1: wedding.
- 38:40Speaker 2: Interesting. Now I need to know who this person is.
- 38:44Speaker 2: Wait, that anonymous texter send us
- 38:46Speaker 1: the username, which I'm not gonna mention.
- 38:52Speaker 2: So I think we still got plenty of spicy messages
- 38:54Speaker 2: to get through. Question being, have you, what are your
- 38:58Speaker 2: thoughts on inappropriately dressed guests at weddings?
- 39:03Speaker 1: One is coming in from another anonymous texter. Morning, Sonia
- 39:08Speaker 1: and Joki. My wedding was back in 2015. It's a
- 39:11Speaker 1: Malay wedding, by the way. Someone related to me wore
- 39:15Speaker 1: the red dress that I had blessed to her at
- 39:18Speaker 1: my wedding. Bless me, I think, given, you know, like, yeah,
- 39:21Speaker 1: like I bless you my dress, you know, I was quite.
- 39:24Speaker 1: Sure, but somehow I expected it. It was like a
- 39:26Speaker 1: tank top long dress, OK, and I think she sent
- 39:30Speaker 1: a picture, but we can't really see it on my
- 39:32Speaker 1: WhatsApp web right now. Sorry about that one.
- 39:34Speaker 2: It's OK.
- 39:35Speaker 1: OK.
- 39:36Speaker 2: What's next? Uh,
- 39:38Speaker 1: actually, I think we've almost read out almost every single
- 39:41Speaker 1: text message spilling the tea about inappropriate wedding outfits.
- 39:46Speaker 2: I would say the ones that are that we're able
- 39:48Speaker 2: to read out.
- 39:50Speaker 2: There are some that I think uh we it's not
- 39:53Speaker 2: so safe for reading out to some of you,
- 39:55Speaker 1: thank you for the
- 39:56Speaker 1: pictures.
- 39:57Speaker 2: Oh yeah, for sure. Always could use a visual, you know,
- 40:00Speaker 2: when it comes to these things. I mean, hey, when
- 40:02Speaker 2: it comes to dressing up for a wedding.
- 40:05Speaker 2: Um, I, I'm not quite sure this like the mindset
- 40:09Speaker 2: of why you need to, to dress in a way
- 40:13Speaker 2: that you're almost upstaging the bride herself.
- 40:16Speaker 1: OK, can I ask you a question? Yeah,
- 40:18Speaker 2: of course.
- 40:19Speaker 1: So, uh, earlier, Kelly Latimer actually DM us on Instagram
- 40:22Speaker 1: and on WhatsApp. She sent us a picture of what
- 40:25Speaker 1: a guest was wearing at a wedding she was at,
- 40:28Speaker 1: to which she said no husbands were allowed to look
- 40:31Speaker 1: at this particular guest.
- 40:33Speaker 1: For example, if Jeremy, OK, at a wedding, sees someone
- 40:38Speaker 1: like that, and you know Jeremy is a very social guy,
- 40:40Speaker 1: likes to make convo, right? If he goes, Hey, hi,
- 40:43Speaker 1: how are you? Oh, OK, OK, fine. Will you, after
- 40:47Speaker 1: the combo finish, right, will you go and go, Oh,
- 40:50Speaker 1: go talk to her. Go and talk, talk, talk.
- 40:52Speaker 2: No, no, no, I would say he most likely won't
- 40:55Speaker 2: do that, because he's already very well trained and he's.
- 41:00Speaker 2: He knows all the, he knows all the tactics for
- 41:03Speaker 2: self-preservation at this point. Self-preservation. No, but also, OK, OK, um, um,
- 41:10Speaker 2: this is not to, this is not to discredit the
- 41:12Speaker 2: reactions of other women or other couples, OK. Personally, I, I,
- 41:19Speaker 2: I don't have a strong opinion. If you want to
- 41:21Speaker 2: go have a chat with.
- 41:22Speaker 2: Person, it's, it's fine. It's fine. I don't really, it
- 41:25Speaker 2: doesn't matter to me. But as long as you are
- 41:27Speaker 2: giving each other enough assurance, you know, like, oh I'm
- 41:31Speaker 2: just saying hi because, you know, it's a friend of
- 41:32Speaker 2: a friend or like I kind of know this person,
- 41:35Speaker 2: but nothing more. So if we already give each other
- 41:37Speaker 2: that self-assurance, then that's fine. I mean, look, he has
- 41:40Speaker 2: to deal with me talking to a lot of handsome
- 41:42Speaker 2: celebrities also, right, which a lot of
- 41:44Speaker 2: People may think like, hey, y'all don't have a problem
- 41:47Speaker 2: when it comes to this. I'm like, not really, because
- 41:49Speaker 2: it's part of my job, but I don't see these
- 41:52Speaker 2: open inverted commas, what society deems as very handsome celebrities,
- 41:55Speaker 2: be it from Thailand, China, or wherever, as like my
- 41:58Speaker 2: potential husbands, right? You know,
- 42:00Speaker 1: there are handsome celebrities, but at the top of that mountain,
- 42:04Speaker 1: it's Mr. Jeremy. Hey, why you laugh?
- 42:08Speaker 2: I mean, it's true.
- 42:11Speaker 2: I also must learn some self-preservation tactics. OK, so quick
- 42:14Speaker 2: question for you here. When you were in school back then,
- 42:17Speaker 2: were you ever part of like scouts or anything or
- 42:21Speaker 2: did you have to, but in the army, you guys
- 42:23Speaker 2: have to like camp out there, right, in the forest
- 42:25Speaker 2: and things like that? OK.
- 42:26Speaker 1: In Tekong during our field days,
- 42:29Speaker 2: were you given instructions on how to forage for food
- 42:32Speaker 2: or did you not have to do that?
- 42:33Speaker 1: We had rations,
- 42:35Speaker 2: the ration packets. So you didn't have to forage for
- 42:37Speaker 1: anything? Because the purpose of a field, right, for example,
- 42:40Speaker 1: if you're in enemy territory.
- 42:43Speaker 2: OK, how would you survive?
- 42:45Speaker 1: Go and forage for food and all that, and you
- 42:47Speaker 1: leave hunting marks and then you set up a fire
- 42:50Speaker 1: and all that, you might give away your position. Then
- 42:53Speaker 2: how? What if you run out of rations?
- 42:55Speaker 1: That that's why you must have enough rations and also
- 42:58Speaker 1: make sure you need to ration the rations.
- 43:01Speaker 1: Make sure you plan properly. This is where your kongguan biscuits,
- 43:04Speaker 1: it will taste like a Michelin meal, especially at the
- 43:06Speaker 1: field
- 43:07Speaker 1: camp.
- 43:07Speaker 2: Yeah, I can imagine. And it's important not to go,
- 43:10Speaker 2: go all out at once, like, you know, when you're
- 43:12Speaker 2: really hungry, you just binge eat,
- 43:15Speaker 1: how you dispose of the wrapping and wrappers is very
- 43:18Speaker 1: important because that could also give away your position to
- 43:21Speaker 1: the enemy. OK,
- 43:22Speaker 2: OK. Oh, interesting. Alright. I mean, I, I thought that
- 43:25Speaker 2: you would have to have some foraging skills, but now
- 43:27Speaker 2: I know. Um, however,
- 43:29Speaker 2: You know, the concept of foraging and cooking and eating
- 43:32Speaker 2: stuff that you find in the wild, it's not very
- 43:34Speaker 2: common here in Singapore. We are a very first world country.
- 43:37Speaker 2: We just go to the nearest supermarket to buy these things.
- 43:40Speaker 1: On that note, this one I can't really, but I
- 43:42Speaker 1: know in commandos or the NDU or even the OCS, right, they,
- 43:47Speaker 1: they might have a situation where they're supposed to go
- 43:49Speaker 1: and hunt for their own food. So that one I
- 43:51Speaker 1: can't comment because I'm not too familiar with
- 43:53Speaker 2: that one.
- 43:54Speaker 1: Could be, or maybe quails.
- 43:57Speaker 2: OK.
- 43:58Speaker 2: But um I wanna zoom in on this particular gardener
- 44:01Speaker 2: here in Singapore, OK? Um,
- 44:04Speaker 2: This, this is just, I don't know whether to face
- 44:06Speaker 2: palm or to feel, I mean, I feel definitely sympathetic
- 44:09Speaker 2: towards this woman for sure. Um, this gardener decided to forage, uh,
- 44:15Speaker 2: for mushrooms, OK, and you would think gardener, you probably
- 44:19Speaker 2: know your stuff, right? Not a good idea. After cooking
- 44:23Speaker 2: these mushrooms that she foraged and she ate it, these
- 44:27Speaker 2: wild mushrooms, by the way, look, could, could pass off
- 44:30Speaker 2: as your like white button mushrooms, you know, it looks
- 44:33Speaker 2: like that.
- 44:34Speaker 2: However, she got hospitalized and it was pretty serious because
- 44:38Speaker 2: she had severe abdominal pain. Turns out that these mushrooms
- 44:43Speaker 2: are definitely poisonous. Yes, um, well, they're all fungi. Mushrooms
- 44:48Speaker 2: are all fungi. They are poisonous. Um, it's actually dubbed
- 44:52Speaker 2: as the vomiter. I'm not even kidding. It's the nickname
- 44:55Speaker 2: of these mushrooms, the vomiter.
- 44:58Speaker 2: Um, because the full scientific name is very, very long.
- 45:01Speaker 2: It's Chlorophyllium molybdites. I don't even know if I'm saying
- 45:06Speaker 2: it right. It is, uh, it contains this, um, chemical
- 45:10Speaker 2: that's a gastrointestinal irritant, and it's one of the most
- 45:13Speaker 2: common causes of mushroom poisoning worldwide, by the way. So thankfully,
- 45:18Speaker 2: she got to, um, the hospital in time.
- 45:21Speaker 2: She was, I think it was on, on a lot
- 45:24Speaker 2: of uh news channels already. The mushrooms, by the way,
- 45:27Speaker 2: were found in her neighborhood. So please be careful. Um,
- 45:31Speaker 2: she was showing pictures of these mushrooms to a friend
- 45:33Speaker 2: who was a fellow gardener, and they said, oh, yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 45:35Speaker 2: this looks edible.
- 45:37Speaker 2: So even if you're in, even if you're in the
- 45:40Speaker 2: business of, you know, gardening and all that, sometimes it's
- 45:43Speaker 2: hard to identify.
- 45:44Speaker 1: By the way, if you're in any buildings here in Singapore,
- 45:47Speaker 1: if you're indoors and you see mushrooms growing, call the
- 45:51Speaker 1: building immediately.
- 45:53Speaker 2: Yeah, please
- 45:53Speaker 1: don't eat them. There's probably some damp area or some
- 45:56Speaker 1: hidden moisture that's coming from a place that's not supposed
- 45:59Speaker 1: to be there. Yeah,
- 46:00Speaker 2: interestingly,
- 46:01Speaker 2: Um, this was not the first case of mushroom poisoning
- 46:03Speaker 2: here in Singapore. Yeah, more than one person has done this.
- 46:07Speaker 2: A middle-aged woman previously mistakenly drank a tea made with
- 46:10Speaker 2: an unknown mushroom, and she also started puking and having
- 46:14Speaker 2: the runs 3 hours later. So, experts are saying, please,
- 46:17Speaker 2: if you see mushrooms out there growing the grass, do
- 46:20Speaker 2: not anyhow like forage them.
- 46:22Speaker 2: Only consume mushrooms that you buy from like legitimate food
- 46:25Speaker 2: sources like your supermarkets and all that. So, never thought
- 46:28Speaker 2: I would have to say this on air, but yeah,
- 46:30Speaker 2: please
- 46:31Speaker 1: be careful.
- 46:38Speaker 1: can button mushroom maybe
- 46:39Speaker 2: button mushrooms.
- 46:40Speaker 1: I lovingly blame Super Mario.
- 46:43Speaker 2: Oh, like the preserved ones and it's not fresh mushrooms.
- 46:47Speaker 1: I guess it's
- 46:47Speaker 1: mushrooms because I always thought if I were to eat
- 46:49Speaker 1: a mushroom, I'll be a guy and I can shoot.
- 46:55Speaker 1: And I can shoot fireballs like Mario in his prime,
- 46:58Speaker 1: but yeah, that was a childhood fantasy.
- 47:00Speaker 2: How's the progress on that? Well, still trying. OK, at
- 47:03Speaker 2: least you're a fun
- 47:04Speaker 2: guy.
- 47:04Speaker 1: The fireballs coming from a different end, you know what
- 47:06Speaker 1: I mean.
- 47:07Speaker 2: I really
- 47:07Speaker 2: did not need to know that this morning. Thank you
- 47:09Speaker 2: for the information.
- 47:11Speaker 1: We
- 47:11Speaker 2: did not ask for.
- 47:12Speaker 1: Alrighty.
- 47:13Speaker 1: Way more. It'll be here in Singapore very soon. I
- 47:17Speaker 1: think they're targeting 2028 to officially launch it. So from
- 47:21Speaker 1: now till then, they're gonna be doing some testings and
- 47:24Speaker 1: most likely the Labrador and the harbor front area where
- 47:29Speaker 1: traffic isn't as
- 47:32Speaker 1: Heavy as compared to the other prominent suspects here in Singapore.
- 47:37Speaker 1: So if you're not too familiar with Waymo, it's an OK,
- 47:40Speaker 1: autonomous vehicle, correct me if I'm wrong, autonomous vehicle where
- 47:42Speaker 1: it's driverless, driverless, and I've seen videos of, I mean,
- 47:45Speaker 1: you posted a video, muttons as well who whenever they
- 47:49Speaker 1: go to the US, they will take it, and I
- 47:50Speaker 1: have friends in the US when they post videos, I
- 47:53Speaker 1: get angry.
- 47:54Speaker 2: OK, I'm not gonna lie. I definitely felt the way
- 47:57Speaker 2: you feel right now when I was in LA. Um,
- 48:00Speaker 2: so this was already 2 years ago that I was
- 48:03Speaker 2: in LA. Hey, wait, 2, was it 2 or 3?
- 48:07Speaker 2: Could have been 3 years actually since I was there. 2023.
- 48:11Speaker 2: 2 years. I can't remember, maybe 2. So anyway, um,
- 48:15Speaker 2: I went there and it was my first time taking,
- 48:18Speaker 2: taking a driverless vehicle ever in my life because, you know,
- 48:20Speaker 2: here in Singapore, I think a lot of things still
- 48:23Speaker 2: undergoing testing and we, we have noticed some companies adopt
- 48:26Speaker 2: autonomous vehicles for like transportation of goods, like delivery and
- 48:30Speaker 2: things like that, right? But this one, when it comes
- 48:32Speaker 2: to humans, of course, I was a little bit nervous,
- 48:35Speaker 2: but it works exactly like your.
- 48:37Speaker 2: Grab or Uber. So you book and it's actually a
- 48:40Speaker 2: little cheaper than um Uber in the US. When it arrives,
- 48:45Speaker 2: it's actually quite cute. It's this semi-robotic AI sounding voice
- 48:50Speaker 2: and um it arrives with your name, like um when
- 48:54Speaker 2: it approaches you, it will flash up your name in
- 48:56Speaker 2: an LED light, like in a club, you know. It's
- 48:59Speaker 2: quite cute.
- 49:00Speaker 1: Can I change my name to your mother? Please don't.
- 49:03Speaker 2: Please don't.
- 49:06Speaker 2: I, I'm sure they have, I'm sure they have ways
- 49:09Speaker 2: of like, please input a proper name. You know,
- 49:12Speaker 1: Singaporean trolls will do something stupid and fun. You are
- 49:15Speaker 1: the troll. I'm the troll. Hey, it's great publicity for sure,
- 49:19Speaker 1: for sure.
- 49:20Speaker 2: I'm not sure whether they have any like um regulations
- 49:24Speaker 2: around that. Like you have to key in a proper name.
- 49:26Speaker 2: Maybe I'm not sure. I'm not sure, but it was
- 49:29Speaker 2: very comfortable and it felt very safe.
- 49:32Speaker 1: Singapore, the first vehicles that will be in our island
- 49:34Speaker 1: will be the Jaguar I-Pace cars. It's all electric.
- 49:38Speaker 2: So that's the one they use in the US as well. Yes,
- 49:40Speaker 1: there'll
- 49:41Speaker 1: be people actually driving these cars to get used to
- 49:44Speaker 1: the roads here in Singapore, especially over the Labrador and
- 49:46Speaker 1: Harborfront area, and then it will adapt the autonomous system,
- 49:49Speaker 1: and then one day we'll see all these driverless cars
- 49:51Speaker 1: on the roads, maybe in 2028 and beyond. But here's
- 49:55Speaker 1: the thing, OK, from, from one AI skeptic here on 987.
- 50:00Speaker 1: What I want to see Weimmu do before they introduce
- 50:03Speaker 1: it to the roads here in Singapore at the next
- 50:06Speaker 1: level of testing, the highest level of testing, test it
- 50:09Speaker 1: out at Orchard Turn, Grange Road, and Bideford Road. No, really,
- 50:13Speaker 2: because of the jam, right? That is,
- 50:14Speaker 1: I feel, the most difficult junction to navigate because you
- 50:18Speaker 1: get a mixture of people who will obey the rules
- 50:20Speaker 1: and people who will flout the rules. They'll wait in
- 50:22Speaker 1: the Xbox
- 50:23Speaker 1: and all that,
- 50:24Speaker 2: so, um, it is equipped with a lot of satellites
- 50:27Speaker 2: and like a lot of images.
- 50:29Speaker 2: So I think that's how they have a lot of
- 50:31Speaker 2: sensors to react and respond to like real life, at
- 50:34Speaker 2: least that's what I noticed. And I'm not sure how
- 50:37Speaker 2: they're going to apply this in Singapore, but when I
- 50:38Speaker 2: was in LA, the way more cars are not allowed
- 50:41Speaker 2: to go on the freeway. The freeway, because, you know,
- 50:44Speaker 2: there are high, what we call highways here in Singapore.
- 50:46Speaker 2: Their freeway is massive and like maybe slightly dangerous because
- 50:50Speaker 2: people are speeding quite a lot there. I'm not sure
- 50:53Speaker 2: what the rules are going to be like here. Like is,
- 50:55Speaker 2: is ECB considered.
- 50:57Speaker 2: Like a highway, like, I mean, we need to take
- 50:59Speaker 2: the highways to get to different parts of Singapore, right?
- 51:01Speaker 1: If you
- 51:01Speaker 1: say highways, then it rules out your ECPs, your CTEs, PIE,
- 51:05Speaker 2: I guess because of like we're so much smaller than LA,
- 51:10Speaker 2: I wonder how they will navigate this.
- 51:12Speaker 1: We are just
- 51:13Speaker 1: speculating here, but maybe it could be from point A
- 51:15Speaker 1: to point B at your nearest neighborhood.
- 51:17Speaker 2: They'll test it that way, I think. Or for example,
- 51:19Speaker 1: for Orchard, right? Yeah, Orchard to Dhoby Ghaut, but it
- 51:21Speaker 1: won't take the highway or whatsoever.
- 51:23Speaker 2: We'll see how it goes, maybe.
- 51:25Speaker 2: Given how small we are as a country, its capabilities
- 51:28Speaker 2: are a bit better here than like in a place
- 51:31Speaker 2: like LA,
- 51:31Speaker 1: right? So
- 51:32Speaker 1: people are on social media saying, oh, they're scared or
- 51:35Speaker 1: will take away jobs from drivers and all that, but
- 51:37Speaker 1: on the other hand, people are saying, and I kind
- 51:40Speaker 1: of agree with this, good, good to give Grab a
- 51:44Speaker 1: little bit of.
- 51:44Speaker 1: Competition and Gojek and Tadas and all that. OK,
- 51:48Speaker 2: OK, yeah, I don't disagree with that.
- 51:50Speaker 1: Let's see what happens.
- 51:51Speaker 2: Interesting times there in that industry.
- 51:53Speaker 1: Alrighty, interesting news coming in as we always said, we'll
- 51:56Speaker 1: keep you updated on the auction when it comes to
- 52:00Speaker 1: the $3 billion money laundering
- 52:02Speaker 1: case.
- 52:02Speaker 2: Why you got some updates for me. What did you buy?
- 52:05Speaker 2: What did you
- 52:06Speaker 2: purchase?
- 52:06Speaker 1: Hey, you know, I was looking at the property bids, right?
- 52:09Speaker 1: Nobody could bid, you know. Nobody matched the starting bid.
- 52:11Speaker 1: I mean,
- 52:12Speaker 2: like 100 million at least. No,
- 52:14Speaker 1: no, no, slightly less than that. 80. Yeah, for some
- 52:16Speaker 1: of the properties around Singapore, some of the very high
- 52:20Speaker 1: class ones and some are still also very good class, yes.
- 52:23Speaker 2: These are GCBs, right?
- 52:26Speaker 1: Mostly some condos and some GPs, I think.
- 52:28Speaker 1: The starting bit was priced a little bit too high,
- 52:30Speaker 1: so nobody matched it, so they had to re-look on
- 52:32Speaker 1: how to do it again.
- 52:33Speaker 2: Yeah, but there are other items that are on sale
- 52:35Speaker 2: that I think are very popular. Yeah,
- 52:37Speaker 1: so I think the one that got the most attention
- 52:39Speaker 1: was the Louis Vuitton Yayoi Kusama pumpkin bag where the
- 52:43Speaker 1: auctioneers kind of priced it at maybe say 12,000 to 160.
- 52:47Speaker 1: It sold for $87,000. Wow, nice one. And there are more.
- 52:52Speaker 1: They are all your jewelries and all that that I
- 52:55Speaker 1: think they brought in.
- 52:57Speaker 1: Close to $1.1 million for the first round
- 53:01Speaker 2: I'm so curious of the auction. I'm so curious like
- 53:03Speaker 2: where the profits go to the auction house where the
- 53:07Speaker 2: profits go?
- 53:08Speaker 1: I think
- 53:08Speaker 1: it might go to the.
- 53:10Speaker 1: The state, because the auction, these are, these are confiscated
- 53:14Speaker 1: items that I think the authorities said, OK, you're gonna
- 53:17Speaker 1: use the auction house to sell it, so the money
- 53:19Speaker 1: might go to the state.
- 53:20Speaker 2: You're saying even if it was worth 12,000 but it
- 53:23Speaker 2: sold at 80,000, the profit goes to the state. I'm
- 53:27Speaker 2: curious about this. OK, yeah, if anyone knows, please let
- 53:30Speaker 2: us know, OK? And thank you so much for joining
- 53:33Speaker 2: us this Monday morning.
- 53:34Speaker 2: Hopefully we helped energize your start of the week. Well,
- 53:37Speaker 1: you know what, this Friday, it's 987's come out and
- 53:41Speaker 1: play at Super Park. Oh yes. Cannot wait to see
- 53:43Speaker 1: and meet some of you.
- 53:44Speaker 2: Oh, you know, I'm, I'm so bummed. I won't be
- 53:46Speaker 2: there because I do have a prior work commitment, unfortunately,
- 53:49Speaker 2: but please go disturb Joakim, hang out with him. Yeah,
- 53:52Speaker 2: I'll bring,
- 53:52Speaker 1: I'll bring a Sonia Chew stan if I can find
- 53:54Speaker 1: it.
- 53:54Speaker 2: OK, so your challenge is to do the obstacle course
- 53:57Speaker 2: holding the stan.
- 54:00Speaker 2: I mean, I paid to see that
- 54:02Speaker 1: we might set a new Singapore Book of Records for
- 54:04Speaker 1: fastest time, you
- 54:05Speaker 1: know.
- 54:05Speaker 2: I know without me because I'll hold you back instead.
- 54:09Speaker 2: Fastest
- 54:09Speaker 1: time to compete in an obstacle caused by a man
- 54:12Speaker 1: and a stand
- 54:12Speaker 2: a placard on a stand.
- 54:14Speaker 1: No one's gonna beat that.
- 54:15Speaker 2: I mean, that's a very odd thing, weird flex, but OK.
- 54:18Speaker 1: Hey, whatever goes in the book, man.
- 54:20Speaker 2: That's true. That's true. I don't think we've ever attempted.
- 54:23Speaker 2: anything to be in the Guinness Book of Records.
- 54:25Speaker 1: OK, we, we start first. We go to Singapore Book
- 54:28Speaker 1: of Records.
- 54:29Speaker 2: Singapore.
- 54:29Speaker 1: Then we go to Guinness.
- 54:30Speaker 2: OK. That's the next step. Alright, goals for 2027. How
- 54:34Speaker 1: about this nonstop live broadcast five days.
- 54:40Speaker 2: Nonstop can sleep or not.
- 54:43Speaker 1: No, nonstop.
- 54:45Speaker 2: So how is that feasible so one of us will
- 54:47Speaker 1: sleep. We must take turns,
- 54:51Speaker 2: I think cannot lah.
- 54:53Speaker 2: You can do it by yourself. I'm good. I don't
- 54:55Speaker 2: need to put my name in the Guinness Book of
- 54:57Speaker 2: Records for this.
- 54:58Speaker 1: I'm not wrong. I think Gerald Koh back then actually
- 55:02Speaker 1: did something like this, but
- 55:03Speaker 2: this was before, way before we
- 55:05Speaker 1: knew him, yeah.
