  Hey, everybody. Good morning from the chicken

  coop. So today we're going to have a
• 0:31
  little farm lesson and there's a metaphor in it.
• 0:35
  Of course, we are talking about seeds and how you grow seeds.
• 0:40
  So we, you know, it's that time of year.
• 0:43
  We're growing is happening. Gardens are happening, flowers
• 0:46
  are growing. We all go to the store and we
• 0:49
  pick up a package of seeds. We go to the little round thing
• 0:53
  that spins, you know, the little display, and we look at the
• 0:55
  seeds and see, OK, let me see which one looks appealing to me.

  And there's all different kinds. You could grow food, you could
• 1:04
  grow flowers, whatever it might be.
• 1:06
  You pick out your seed and you recognize that there was some
• 1:11
  appeal in the packaging to this. OK, package looks great.
• 1:15
  You see the potential because the package is the potential
• 1:19
  really important here? The package is the potential.
• 1:22
  It looks beautiful. Whatever's on there you like, I
• 1:25
  want to grow that. OK, great.
• 1:27
  Come home and you get really excited.
• 1:31
  You figure about where you're going to plant.
• 1:32
  At least I get really excited when I plant seeds and I usually
• 1:36
  go to the store and I go buy one package of seeds.
• 1:38
  I probably buy, I don't know, hundreds of packages.
• 1:41
  Of seeds. I have a bit of an issue with
• 1:43
  it. But anyway, you get your your
• 1:46
  package, you come home and you sit down.
• 1:48
  You read the back of the package and it gives you all the
• 1:51
  instructions on how to make this grow.
• 1:54
  In fact, it usually gives you a a a sprout rate.
• 1:58
  Even it will tell you out of 100 seeds, you'll have 80 that will
• 2:02
  sprout. So you know there's a failure
• 2:05
  rate in there. You understand that?
• 2:07
  OK, I need to put this in the right conditions.
• 2:09
  This seed, like sandy soil. This seed likes to be in lumi
• 2:13
  soil. This seed likes to feel like it
• 2:16
  is wet often more than the dry seeds.
• 2:19
  Just depends. Every every seed has its own
• 2:22
  condition. Every plant has its own
• 2:23
  condition in which it thrives, Sun, shade, all of it.
• 2:27
  And there's all these little codes on the back of the
• 2:29
  package, which is so cool because you have all the
• 2:31
  instructions for success. Don't you wish we had that for
• 2:34
  life? Like we were just handed a
• 2:35
  little package? And here you go, it's all the
• 2:37
  all the instructions for success are right there.
• 2:40
  So you take that seed and what happens next?
• 2:45
  You go out and you find the conditions in which it should go
• 2:48
  and you put it in the ground and you cover it up.
• 2:52
  And that seed then does what it does.
• 2:57
  And we wait. And we wait and we wait and we
• 3:01
  wait and we're patient. We're saying, OK, this is going
• 3:07
  to come up. This is going to come up.
• 3:08
  I can't wait to see what it is. I can't wait to see what this
• 3:10
  is. And we're like super, super
• 3:12
  patient about it. Most of us are anyway.
• 3:15
  We're super patient about it. And I know sometimes we're not,
• 3:20
  though, because I just did a huge flower garden, grew lots of
• 3:23
  different things that I didn't know what they were going to
• 3:25
  look like when they came up. And some of them I was like, OK,
• 3:29
  I can't even pull the weeds because I don't even know what
• 3:31
  this flower is going to look like when it comes up.
• 3:32
  So I had to be patient. And boy, for me that is a huge
• 3:35
  test because I don't always have patience when it comes to stuff
• 3:38
  like that. If I'm being creative and I'm
• 3:40
  doing stuff, I want to see the results, but I had to be
• 3:42
  patient. But anyway, back to our story of
• 3:44
  the seeds. So it's in the ground, it's
• 3:48
  dark, it's damp and it's on its own.
• 3:53
  And that seed in that condition is transforming.
• 3:58
  But think about the conditions in which it's transforming.
• 4:01
  It's dark, like I said, it's enclosed tightly.
• 4:06
  It's alone. It's in there, wet, Damp, not.
• 4:13
  Doesn't sound very pleasant, does it?
• 4:15
  But it's transforming into that picture, that pure potential
• 4:19
  that you saw on the package when you bought it.
• 4:22
  But it's not pleasant inside the ground.
• 4:26
  It's just, you know, it's becoming something else.
• 4:29
  And it has to work really hard. Because think about it, that
• 4:31
  seed is in case it's really hard.
• 4:33
  And if you had pushed on that with your fingers when you first
• 4:35
  got it, you know seeds are hard. There's a protective coating and
• 4:39
  that life force that is inside that seed has to work its little
• 4:43
  butt off to come out of that shell.
• 4:46
  In fact, sometimes seeds won't even come out unless you soak
• 4:49
  them ahead of time. I have some plants that are
• 4:52
  absolutely gorgeous that are, it's called the Caliandra, and
• 4:56
  if I don't soak those seeds for 48 hours ahead of time, nothing
• 5:00
  shows up. They have to be soaked in water
• 5:03
  for 48 hours. They literally have to drown in
• 5:06
  water for 48 hours to penetrate the outside of that shell.
• 5:09
  Seeds are hard, so you put them in the ground and they have to
• 5:13
  work their butts off. And the lesson in this for us as
• 5:17
  human beings is that transforming into that pure
• 5:22
  potential that's on the package is not easy.
• 5:25
  And it takes work and it takes commitment, and it takes going
• 5:30
  in and doing what you need to do from the standpoint of being
• 5:36
  focused on it. And once you make that
• 5:38
  commitment, once you plant yourself in the ground, if you
• 5:41
  will, with your commitment, you stay focused on doing the work
• 5:46
  that you need to do. And that work is an inside job,
• 5:50
  just like that little seed coming out of that shell.
• 5:54
  It is an inside job. Sure, you have to do outside
• 5:57
  things too. But the work that you do on the
• 5:59
  inside, the work that pushes you mentally, the work that puts you
• 6:04
  in a place where you stay focused, happy, intent, keeping
• 6:09
  your energy aligned to where you want to go, is some of the
• 6:13
  hardest work that you will ever, ever, ever, ever do in your
• 6:16
  life. Yet it is the work of greatness.
• 6:19
  It's the work that makes you go from who you where you are right
• 6:23
  now, to where you want to be and who you are, to who you want to
• 6:27
  be. It takes you all the way over.
• 6:30
  And it's not always just tasks, my friends.
• 6:33
  It's about that transformation, just like a seed going in the
• 6:37
  ground into a scary place, into a committed place of being like,
• 6:42
  OK, I'm here. And sometimes you got to do it
• 6:45
  by yourself. Sometimes you got to be that
• 6:47
  little seed. More often than not, you got to
• 6:50
  be the little seed. But the wonderful thing is when
• 6:53
  you commit to it and you make the decision and you do the
• 6:57
  actions, that pure potential that was on the outside of the
• 7:01
  package shows up. When you put yourself in the
• 7:04
  right conditions, when you understand what you need, when
• 7:07
  you go along in the process and you trust that it's going to
• 7:12
  work, it works. So part of your process is being
• 7:16
  here and learning different things, keeping your perspective
• 7:19
  clean, asking better questions, that's the like planting
• 7:23
  yourself in the right soil. So today as you head out there
• 7:26
  into the world, make sure that you are being the seed, make
• 7:30
  sure that you are not quitting on yourself.
• 7:33
  Make sure that you understand you are asking the right
• 7:36
  questions to set yourself up for the pure potential that's on the
• 7:40
  outside of that package. Because I believe in it.
