- 0:00Well, I'm my name Saxon, and we also have Peter here, like
- 0:03he's the guitarist. I'm the guy on vocals. Were December is deadline?
- 0:07We started probably what joining the band last year sometime m like we were like
- 0:13just two people trying to get involved in the music that they had going and
- 0:16trying to keep the band alive. And yeah, I guess the same is
- 0:19called Crossairs. Beautiful guys, thanks for joining us this afternoon, Thanks for
- 0:25having us. Yeah, thank you, my playsures. So December's deadline and
- 0:29return with your new song, Crossairs, which will be released on December twenty
- 0:33ninth. So tell me, guys, is it a late Christmas present or
- 0:36is it an early New Year's gift? I think an early New Year's gift
- 0:40for people. A lot of people these days don't seem to want to put
- 0:43stuff out around this time of year. Well, I reckon going into the
- 0:47new year. So strong is actually a great idea. It's definitely that's a
- 0:51good idea. Like say, not many people are putting it out this time
- 0:54of year, but if you do, you know that people are staffed for
- 0:57music, So it's not a bad idea at all. I think it could
- 1:00be a good time. Well, and it's your first release, it's unique
- 1:03in November twenty twenty one, So what's changed with December's deadline since then?
- 1:11So since then, we've had a bit of a member change, as Sax
- 1:14mentioned him and I came on last year, so yeah, a bit of
- 1:19a lineup change, a bit of a reshuffle within the band, and yeah,
- 1:25I'm on guitar now and Sax on the vocals, and yeah, just
- 1:30sort of had a bit of a sit down and said, hey, you
- 1:32know, let's let's do this, and let's get our influences in on this
- 1:36as well, and let's shape the sound and you know, we'll take what
- 1:38you guys have and hopefully improve on what we've got and come out, you
- 1:44know, come out bigger than ever. So that was the plan behind Yeah,
- 1:48December's deadline and us joining. Wait, so give us a bit more
- 1:53information about you two guys that have just joined, and then what used to
- 1:56bring into the band. I feel like we're both just bring in a fresh
- 1:59face, a whole new sounds of things in the in the kind of demoing
- 2:04stage of things. It was definitely Peter kind of going is this what you
- 2:07want? And everyone kind of just jumping on board and going, yeah,
- 2:10we're going to run with this one now, So I guess it was.
- 2:14It was definitely bringing a new kind of aspect of the writing to the band,
- 2:17and I think that was the biggest thing that we were bringing, is
- 2:20like fresh faces, like a fresh sound, like a way to get the
- 2:23band still going, but without it being like too different from what the old
- 2:29stuff was. So tell us a bit about your new song, cross Hands,
- 2:32and from a musical point of view and what you're going for with it.
- 2:36Yeah, Musically, I listened to what the guys were doing and they
- 2:38were throwing their influences around and stuff. So yeah, basically, as Saxon
- 2:43said, I came up with a bit of a riff, that main riff,
- 2:45that sort of gent style riff, and sent it through to the boys
- 2:50and said, you know, this is this what you wanted kind of thing,
- 2:53which is funny because that sort of then plays into the lyrics as well,
- 2:57you know, the lyrics of the chorus, there is this what you
- 2:58wanted? So yeah, they loved it. They said, yeah, that's
- 3:01that's cool, let's run with that. So yeah, it was sort of
- 3:05built it up from there and all got together everyone put their ideas in and
- 3:07yeah, grew it from there. Yeah, I felt like it was really
- 3:12organic. We kind of got to a point where we had a couple of
- 3:15songs we were writing, and out of all the ideas we had, it
- 3:19just felt like everyone was really going at the same tempo. Everyone was like
- 3:23all the cylinders firing. It was just a good time, I think,
- 3:25for everyone to just be on the same page and really had that goal that
- 3:30we wanted to achieve for this song. So we mentioned that the last song
- 3:35you released was Unique over two years ago, guys, so how does cross
- 3:38Says differ to that musically with the new lineup? Well, older fans of
- 3:42the band still appreciate it, Yeah, I think so. I think people
- 3:46will understand that the space that we were going into was definitely going to be
- 3:51a little bit of a you know, like a bit different from maybe Unique.
- 3:53But that was when Ben was still taking over the vocal side of things
- 3:58and he was playing guitar. So I guess Crossairs was more just a way
- 4:01to get everyone to understand that we were trying to look for a new sound.
- 4:05They were looking for a new vocalist and other people to come in,
- 4:10So it just kind of organically happened that way that like, we weren't going
- 4:14to try to be the same band that like they were when Ben was there,
- 4:17but the core group of people writing the songs were still the same.
- 4:20It just needed to get, you know, find that that sounds collectively.
- 4:27Yeah, so along those lines too, guys, Like the press release also
- 4:30points to a new sound to go with the new lineup. So is that
- 4:33someone that you deliberately planned and work towards sort of just sort of say,
- 4:36happened more organically naturally. Yeah, definitely organically. I think a lot of
- 4:43it was me coming in with my new ideas. They'd seen what I'd done
- 4:46in the past with Pavilion and things like that, and they liked that and
- 4:49sort of wanted me to bring my experience to the table. So a lot
- 4:55of the ideas originated from me and my experience and my influences. But then
- 5:00it was yeah, putting that into the band setting, and then yeah,
- 5:02as Sex says, yet, a lot of it happening organically from there,
- 5:06and it very much felt that we were all on that same page. You
- 5:10know, everyone was sort of saying, Yeah, that's that's cool, let's
- 5:13do that. Let's you know that works with that and it all just yeah,
- 5:15really came together. Well, say, the way for the song I
- 5:18came together for me was probably Ben was writing a lot for us to make
- 5:23ideas for an EP, and I came up with this like the I guess
- 5:27the start line of the chorus, and I was saying, is this kind
- 5:30of what you could be into, like for an idea for a chorus?
- 5:32And he was like, oh, maybe not for this EP. I've got
- 5:34some ideas. But as soon as Peter brought Crosshairs to the table, I
- 5:39just jumped in like just straight away, being like, this is exactly what
- 5:43I want. This is exactly what I think the song should be. And
- 5:46it just kind of happened in that way that even though it was an idea
- 5:49on the back burner, it came through so strong once I actually had the
- 5:55ideas out and on the table. So would you say the Crossair he's a
- 6:00good representation of where December's Deadline going in the future. Yeah, definitely.
- 6:05Yeah for all. Now we mentioned the track unique, but you've also got
- 6:11songs in Devor and where we started from which we're all released in twenty twenty
- 6:15one. So are you playing to re record them with the car line up
- 6:17and put them on a future EP or album, or are you just sort
- 6:20of going forward with new stuff. Yeah, I think going forward with new
- 6:26music was definitely the idea that we were going for to keep them songs in
- 6:30the set for if we were going to play live, But we were definitely
- 6:32wanting to steer more in the direction where me and Peter have more room to
- 6:36grow and shine within the band. So Ben and Brady really just needed to,
- 6:41you know, I guess keep it like as the core sound those two,
- 6:46because whatever they were going to do was going to be December's deadline.
- 6:49We just needed to add like our little flavors on top of things. So
- 6:54you mentioned something about an EP before. Guys, it's his song part of
- 6:58a bigger, big project or a bigger picture or is it just a stand
- 7:01alone for now standalone for now? Yeah, just a bit of a reintroduction
- 7:08to the new lineup, sort of say hey, guys, you know we're
- 7:10still here, December's deadline is still going. You know, this is what's
- 7:13been happening, and this is where we're at now. I think that's what
- 7:15Cross says was intended for. Yeah. I also notice looking through your Lentury
- 7:21account that you've got a VIP membership option, which is pretty new to me.
- 7:26So sounds like a good idea. What actually is it? So?
- 7:29Yeah, it's part of our band camp account. You can sign up to
- 7:31become VIP members and what you get is all the music we've already got back
- 7:39catalog, ten percent off of all our merchandise, and also you get early
- 7:46streams and things like that, pre releases, all of that sort of stuff
- 7:48with it as well. There's different tiers to come with the memberships. So
- 7:51depending on which tier you get, is how many goodies you get? I
- 7:54guess with the bigger tier sort of giving you access to things like face to
- 8:00face interviews with us, you know, videos and things like that, invites
- 8:03to VIP parties and whatever. Maybe Yeah, very cool, very cool.
- 8:07So we're only getting to have ron. There's only gonna be two days left
- 8:11of twenty twenty three by the time the song comes out, guys, So
- 8:13what is twenty twenty hold for December's deadline? Yeah? I guess we'll wait
- 8:18to see how this song lands. You know, with the new lineup and
- 8:20the new sound, we really don't know what to expect. You know,
- 8:24people are either going to love it or hate it, so I think the
- 8:30reaction of the fans will strongly determine where we go from here. So yeah,
- 8:33we'll wait, wait and see, I guess. So no plans yet.
- 8:37I'm just sort of going to feel it out and see how it goes
- 8:39and test the waters, I guess. And yeah, all right, guys,
- 8:43well thanks very much for your time. But it's been a pleasure to
- 8:46speak with you. The single Cross Hands is out December twenty ninth, and
- 8:48I've been fortunate enough to double listen and she's a bloody cracker, good song,
- 8:52guys for best to like. Thanks man, thank you very much.
