- 1:00episode of the Money Grows on Trees podcast. I've
- 1:04got a very special guest in the studio today. We're going to interview her.
- 1:08And what I love about her is she's actually Well,
- 1:12she's amazing as you'll get to see and hear, but she's
- 1:16actually one of our students who's come through all of our programs
- 1:19actually. And I'm really excited for her to share
- 1:23her entire story through not
- 1:27having financial things under control
- 1:31to now absolutely dominating financially. And
- 1:34she's gonna share some wisdom with you as well, but it's gonna come straight from
- 1:37her, which is why I love it. And you're gonna get the whole spectrum of
- 1:41her story, but she's now financially stable.
- 1:45She's a mental health worker and practitioner, and she's
- 1:48been able to free herself of nine to five life
- 1:52and become time rich. And she's learning how money buys happiness and
- 1:55all these incredible things, and it's totally transformed her life. And
- 1:58we're gonna, ask her some really cool questions to showcase
- 2:02to you guys and share with you some of the amazing things that
- 2:06can happen to everyday people when
- 2:09they get their finances under control. So I haven't done this
- 2:12before. This is like a student coming on to the show. So
- 2:16I'm very excited and thrilled to welcome Tammy
- 2:28Here we are. Look at us do this together. What a journey it's been for
- 2:31It's been an incredible journey. I don't think words
- 2:37Yeah, we were having a conversation in the car on the way here, cause you know, Pammy's up
- 2:40from Sydney and we had a function
- 2:44last night, which was super fun. And then I picked you up this morning and
- 2:47we drove here and we're just talking about some of
- 2:51the things that you've done over the last few years, actually, since we met
- 2:55and since you've come through some of our programs and read our books. So
- 2:59I'm really excited to share with everyone some of the cool stuff we spoke about
- 3:02just in the car too. Like one particular story that I
- 3:06love that I didn't know until today that we're going to share towards the end.
- 3:09So stick around to the end because that is, I think that's
- 3:12the true essence of why we're trying to become financially independent.
- 3:16The thing that you just shared with me in the car, I really want them to listen to that. So before
- 3:21we go into the cool stuff, I would love you
- 3:24to share with us and take us back to before we met
- 3:29and when things weren't totally aligned for you in
- 3:32your finances and what was happening in your life then. Just take us back and
- 3:37Yeah, I think that's an excellent question, Lloyd. And going back
- 3:41to 2020, 2020, actually, I remember
- 3:45looking down on my bank account, just before, just
- 3:48when COVID hit. And I remember looking down and I had $1,000 to
- 3:52my name, had been working in the mental health
- 3:55field already for five years. And I just got this echoing sound
- 3:59in my head that said, Pam, what are you doing? What
- 4:02are you doing? You have to move back home because you don't know what's gonna
- 4:06happen with the world But you don't have anything behind you Of
- 4:10course I had, you know, 26 countries that I had traveled But in
- 4:17Yeah, so you had the experience of traveling? Yes, which is wonderful living
- 4:20life. And so what what what what feelings did
- 4:27To be honest, I felt very ashamed. I felt ashamed because
- 4:30one of my biggest missions was to break generational patterns.
- 4:35And what I wanted to teach my clients was to do that and to
- 4:38believe that it's possible. But if I wasn't doing it
- 4:41for myself, It felt out of alignment to be
- 4:47So that's when I started to go deep into my money mindset.
- 4:51I started to read all the books on money. And then I came across your
- 4:55Money Buys Happiness book. And I was like, great. I
- 4:59don't need another book. I need a mentor. And
- 5:05There's this funny video we did. Actually, you might have watched it.
- 5:08When I even say that, I'm like, you don't need another book. You
- 5:12need to execute and take action. And you're quite right, like,
- 5:15because we've all read books, but how many of us implement the things we read in
- 5:18the books, right? So you discovered that. Quite
- 5:22rightly like actually I don't need another book. I
- 5:25need some accountability here How do we implement the stuff right?
- 5:30And so it was very important to you obviously because you were feeling a little bit of shame around it
- 5:33You wanted to walk the walk as well as talk the talk. And
- 5:37so I Still remember we're chatting in the car actually on the way here like
- 5:40their first very first call we did together before you started formally with
- 5:44us and when one of our programs in our coaching program and
- 5:50I think we had a discussion about breaking down, like what's
- 5:54it going to cost you not to change? And I think together, I remember pulling
- 5:57out my phone, I was like, oh, let's calculate it.
- 6:01And I got in the calculator, I'm like, this is how much it's going to cost you not
- 6:04to change. And it was an actual figure, remember? And you're like,
- 6:10And so we did start then, you
- 6:13decided to work with me and I decided to work with
- 6:16you. And what a great decision that was because you've had
- 6:19so many, I mean, incredible breakthroughs
- 6:23and changes when it comes to your money. So tell us when you
- 6:27made that decision, you're like, okay, I do want to mentor. What
- 6:32was going on in your head? at the time and
- 6:35what did you think? Like what was the story you were telling
- 6:42It's a long time ago, but also feels like yesterday. I
- 6:46remember paying for the mentorship and
- 6:49I had that thought of, did I just make the best
- 6:53decision of my life or the worst? And
- 6:58yeah, I think what was going back then in my head was
- 7:02it's time. to change and it's time to
- 7:06walk the path with someone that's already done that. Because
- 7:11growing up, I didn't have any role models that
- 7:14I could turn to financially. I didn't
- 7:17come from wealth and I didn't come from a generation
- 7:22that would actually teach you how to be
- 7:25smart with your money. So I wanted to
- 7:29change my life for the better, but also for the people that
- 7:34Sure. Yeah. Because when you become better, you inadvertently inspire others to, to
- 7:37play better too. But you didn't have any benchmarks. You didn't have anything to
- 7:40measure that against because you didn't have anyone around you. You could model to
- 7:46Yes. And I remember I had like five different
- 7:52The more bank accounts I have, the wealthier I'll get. Yeah. I remember
- 7:56that too, actually, because that's one of the first things we talked about. Is
- 7:59this when you start to get your money into control, we just have to get rid of the chaos and,
- 8:03and, and make things simple, right? Simplicity is the
- 8:06genius of, of, of money management and anything for that matter. So
- 8:10again, so you started and you're right, like, Is this gonna be the best
- 8:13decision of my life or like a really bad decision? Spoiler alert,
- 8:17it worked out. It worked out, we're here in the studio, a
- 8:20couple of years later. So I'm glad you did that because
- 8:24I remember that one of the first things we looked at was simplifying things for you. So
- 8:28what were some of the goals you wanted? Like what were some of the things you thought you
- 8:32wanted to achieve back then? Like what inspired you? What
- 8:38I wanted to look down on my bank account and not feel disappointed. Firstly,
- 8:43but I also wanted to see what life could actually be like
- 8:47differently. You know, I feel
- 8:50like I saw what back then
- 8:54to me seemed like celebrities, right, like yourself, and I
- 8:57would stalk you. I think I stalked you for 12 months before I
- 9:01joined your mentorship. And I was like, that's
- 9:04exactly who I want next to me, right?
- 9:08Because you have to be with someone that is in alignment with your values. And
- 9:12that's exactly what I saw in you. So I wanted not
- 9:15only to look down on my bank account and feel proud, But
- 9:18I also wanted to grow as a person and I wanted to be able to hold
- 9:22money without shame, without guilt, without all
- 9:25those yucky feelings that you can experience. Sometimes when you look down at
- 9:29your bank account or when you talk about money, because especially, you
- 9:33know, my Latin background, you know, we grew up with don't
- 9:37talk about money or live the moment. You
- 9:40know, we are very known for living the moment and YOLO mindset.
- 9:48Yeah. Okay. I agree. Yeah. Yeah. There you go.
- 9:52It's so interesting, isn't it? How we, our backgrounds dictate how we are with money as
- 9:55well. Yeah. Well, I'm glad that you stalked me for 12 months
- 9:59and that we started working together because some of the things started to change fairly quickly. And
- 10:03what I love about you the most is you're an action taker and we often say that action
- 10:06takers are moneymakers. That's right. And so people
- 10:10are trying to learn their way through money. And you can learn some stuff, but
- 10:15it's the action taking where you learn the most and get the most traction. In fact, all the
- 10:18traction. And so from that
- 10:21outset, measurably, what are the things that
- 10:26we put in place or that you did to change things like
- 10:32Well, firstly, it was getting my bank accounts in order. We
- 10:38And I felt instant clarity. So
- 10:43that was the first thing we did. And then the second thing we did is just
- 10:46to pay off my debt. And I remember my hand shaking when
- 10:54And I remember messaging you and I was like,
- 10:58with my personal loan at zero, zero, zero. And I was like, oh my God, I did
- 11:01it, I did it. So it was simplifying my bank accounts, it
- 11:05was paying my debt and most importantly,
- 11:13I remember that was one of the scariest decisions to deposit a
- 11:17thousand dollars into my bank account. I
- 11:20had no idea what I was doing and I just needed to trust.
- 11:26Well, you know, I think what's great about your journey
- 11:29there at the start was you built up some confidence because getting your
- 11:32bank account sorted First step, and you
- 11:35did that very easily and quickly. Second step, pay off debt.
- 11:39And I remember it was like, it's almost like you needed, you
- 11:44were waiting for permission to pay it off because you actually could
- 11:48have paid, you paid it off quickly once you made the decision to pay
- 11:51it off. And so part of the, you know, being mentored is
- 11:55just encouragement and
- 12:01how can I say? accountability to,
- 12:06and even granting some permission sometimes, to actually go do the thing.
- 12:10Like, you know, you're allowed to pay that off faster, you know? And
- 12:14what are some of the unique ways you can actually do things to pay
- 12:17it off faster, right? And so you
- 12:20did that, you got your debt off, which is great. I mean, and that by itself is amazing. Just
- 12:24feeling free, right? When you paid your debt off. I
- 12:27remember the day. When
- 12:31you then went to the investment side of things, what you learned was
- 12:34the investing stuff. So you were educating yourself. So you
- 12:38knew what you were doing, right? And that's what I love about
- 12:42how you did it. You actually learned the stuff and then executed
- 12:45yourself instead of relying on someone giving you advice.
- 12:50So you knew exactly what you were doing. You knew what
- 12:54investments were all about. And then you took that first step. And
- 13:02I was thinking about that as we were coming here. I think it's two and a half years ago.
- 13:05Yeah. And, uh, yeah, it's just incredible
- 13:12We're going to get to the juicy stuff now because, um, what's
- 13:16great about when you make a decision, like you did to sort
- 13:19out your finances. you lay the
- 13:22foundations. It's like the first day you plant
- 13:26the seed is not the day you pick the fruit. And so you have to lay
- 13:29the seed or plant the seeds, which is what
- 13:33you were doing. And once you plant the seeds, you then got to cultivate it,
- 13:37put sunlight on it, water it, and wait. The hardest thing is to
- 13:40wait. Because people are like, I've planted the seeds. Now
- 13:44when do I go lay on the beaches of Vanuatu and do nothing? Well,
- 13:47that's later when you pick the fruit. So you laid the foundations, and
- 13:51then you've got the foresight and the maturity to be patient with it.
- 13:58And so that's kind of what happened probably over that 12 month period, and many other
- 14:01things we'll cover. But before we get to the
- 14:04specifics of the fruit that you're now picking, What
- 14:09are some of the things you learned about money or working
- 14:13together that happened to you that were not specifically
- 14:17around money, like data, like
- 14:20measurements, like what some of the subjective things, the behavioral stuff
- 14:29Such a good question. There's just been so much learning. It's
- 14:32hard to think of a few, but basically number
- 14:37one, money's energy. That's
- 14:41one of my biggest lessons with working with you is that
- 14:44you have to have a good relationship with your money to
- 14:54that it all comes back to what money mindset do you have about money? Because
- 14:58if you look at your money and you have a negative energy
- 15:02towards it, or you think that money is evil or money is
- 15:06limited, it can have an impact on the behaviors that
- 15:10you take then. So I think one of the things that we worked on
- 15:13initially was my money mindset. How to go from YOLO money
- 15:16mindset to actually, I can have a good loving
- 15:20relationship with my money. And as a result, I
- 15:23was able to implement the behaviors that I needed to be able to
- 15:29Yes. So we definitely adopted a new mindset
- 15:33and certainly the new relationships like what sort of relationship do I want to have with money? So
- 15:37at that point you talk about this YOLO mindset. So that for
- 15:40the audience YOLO stands for you only live once. And
- 15:44the mindset you're talking about was when money comes in, I could die tomorrow,
- 15:48so I might as well just spend it, right? YOLO, I'll YOLO my way
- 15:51through life. And that was the relationship you had with the money, right?
- 15:55And it was probably also the relationship you had with yourself, like, I could die tomorrow, so I'm just gonna
- 15:59live life. And like what you said before, your Latin heritage, right?
- 16:02It was like, this is how we are as people. We live for the moment, right?
- 16:06Which is true, and it's great, but it's not the be all and end all, and it probably
- 16:09put you in a position where you're like, uh-oh, COVID's here. Now
- 16:13we have to fix those YOLO
- 16:17moments we had. Do
- 16:24Oh, absolutely. Absolutely. I'm not the person that I
- 16:27was two and a half years ago. I can tell you that very confidently. And
- 16:32I can tell you that one of the things that really helped me with that was
- 16:35you telling me, Pam, go out and
- 16:39make a mess. No one's going to remember in 20 years.
- 16:44And that allowed me to go and make a mess, go and
- 16:47step out of my comfort zone. But it also allowed me
- 16:56Well, basically I, like I said, firstly I had to change
- 16:59my money mindset and then I had to change the relationship I had with money. But
- 17:03then I had to create rules to live by. And
- 17:06I think that, like we were saying, you know, cultural
- 17:11expectations and environment and sometimes
- 17:14it was almost like letting go of what other people expected
- 17:19me to do and just coming back to what I wanted to do.
- 17:23and my money rules became, I'm gonna think about it
- 17:26for 24 hours before I purchase that. Or
- 17:30I'm gonna go overseas and not
- 17:34use any credit cards or personal loans ever. I
- 17:38think that it was just really allowing myself to have a good relationship with
- 17:44Yes, wonderful. So you put boundaries in place. and
- 17:50you started to live by the boundaries. Because if we have, let's say for example, a
- 17:53teenager and we leave the liquor cabin open and we say,
- 17:56hey, you can go and drink all the alcohol you want at the age of 15. We
- 18:00come home and they're absolutely blind, drunk and probably in hospital because there's no
- 18:03boundaries, right? And we can see what happens to children when they're
- 18:07not disciplined or have no rules to follow. There's no boundaries
- 18:10to, it's like when you go bowling and there's no bumpers, you
- 18:13just bowl it and it goes in the gutter. And so with your money, it's
- 18:18about you had these bumpers in place, right? So like not traveling on
- 18:21credit. And You
- 18:24know, just some of the simple ones like having the one bank account and
- 18:28I will sleep on it for 24 hours before I purchase it. And I know you've
- 18:31got more money rules than that, but you would have listed your money rules that
- 18:35we went through. And those boundaries then allow
- 18:38you to stay in some sort of zone of wealth
- 18:42that is hard to move out of. And then over time, with
- 18:46some of those results you're starting to see, it reinforces and
- 18:49recultivates the new money mindset that you are
- 18:53wanting to adopt. And now you've developed a new identity
- 18:57from that as well, which we can see here. How amazing do you
- 19:00look like? You come in here, professional, you know,
- 19:03money is energy. So you've attracted all this, right?
- 19:06You attracted this, you're attracting everything, which we'll get to in
- 19:10a second. But it comes from those foundations that
- 19:13you set. So this is where the work is done. I had to sit there and literally
- 19:17write it out. These are my money rules. And this is, I'm going to pay
- 19:20off the debt, I'm going to do it now, I'm going to shake when I do it, and I'm going to learn about investing and
- 19:23then implement a small step. And I'm going to get
- 19:27my bank account simplified. And I remember when you went to put that
- 19:30into action, there was work to do. And you've
- 19:34always done the work. That's why you're sitting in the studio here. You
- 19:37do the work, you implement. Okay, cool. So
- 19:41since laying the foundations and planting the seeds three
- 19:45years ago, two and a half years ago. God, it's gone fast. Just
- 19:49quickly, if you're ready to take control of your finances but feel stuck on
- 19:53where to start, I have a solution. My book, Money Buys Happiness,
- 19:57simplifies investing and wealth building with practical steps to help
- 20:00you achieve financial peace. Get your copy via the
- 20:03link in the show notes and let's get your money working for you. Now, back
- 20:07to the episode. What are some of the measurable
- 20:12money outcomes that you've achieved. So give us some like when you paid off the
- 20:18Back then I had a $25,000 debt. Oh,
- 20:22that was one of them, which was my personal account, but I also had a Hex
- 20:25debt. And for anyone that knows me, I am a
- 20:29learning nerd. I love to learn. So
- 20:33I had accumulated, you know, different degrees and that meant a
- 20:37lot of Hex debt. So I had a lot of Hex debt
- 20:40and yeah, I had to pay off my personal loan. That's
- 20:48Yeah, it was on your mind. And so you paid that off
- 20:51first, right? Yes. Gone. That was a big move. So
- 20:59To be honest, I feel like the first four months, it
- 21:02was really buckling down and taking action.
- 21:07And it was incredible to see, and this is why I go back to Money Is Energy, because
- 21:10as soon as I started to show money that I can handle it, and
- 21:14that I was going to become the person that
- 21:18I needed to be to be able to handle more money, that's when things started
- 21:21to happen really fast. That's when
- 21:25I came to you and I said, Lloyd, I'm overwhelmed. I have so many plates.
- 21:28I don't know what to do. And you said to me, okay, we
- 21:32did an exercise together. And by the end of
- 21:35that call, we made the decision that I was going to live my nine to five and
- 21:42commit fully to my business. Right. But it
- 21:45took me to believe that I was capable and had
- 21:50the belief behind me to be able to tell money, I've
- 21:55Yes, amazing. It's funny because
- 21:58that's a very vivid
- 22:02call because I remember that call specifically. I remember it so vividly. It's
- 22:06actually in my new book, Become Time Rich and you're in there. And there's
- 22:10a nice discussion about that. There's an exercise for people to do because it
- 22:13is so powerful. And so what you're talking about was at the time,
- 22:17you're putting things in place around your money, but you're also grappling with
- 22:20a few things on your plate. And you talk about spinning plates. You're
- 22:24spinning all these plates and you're in overwhelm. And as soon as people are
- 22:27in overwhelm, I instantly know it's got not
- 22:31to do with a knowledge gap or a skill gap. It's
- 22:34got to do with the fact that I've just said yes to too many things at once. And I
- 22:37don't know how to get rid of the plates. So the exercise we did was I
- 22:43think I said to you, write down all the things that you're working on. I think you wrote down
- 22:4710 things, like boom, boom, boom, boom, boom on a paper. We did it. Then
- 22:50I set the stopwatch and I said, all right, ready? You're like, yes, I'm
- 22:53ready. Here's what we're gonna do. I want you to cross out everything that doesn't
- 22:57matter to you except for three things. Remember that? And
- 23:00you start crossing them out, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom. And I was timing
- 23:04it and I was like, stop, pens down. You're like, oh. And I remember you looked
- 23:07at the paper and I said, what's on there? Oh no, I said, what did you cross
- 23:10off? You go, oh, I stopped my job. I was
- 23:14like, whoa. I was like, that's incredible. And so
- 23:18what we found in that exercise was your job, you were holding
- 23:21onto it and you didn't need to anymore. And
- 23:25I was like, and you kind of made that leap. You're
- 23:28ready to go from the job. I was like, really? And so
- 23:32you think that was holding you back. Let me ask you this, what
- 23:35was holding you back from staying in your job when you knew your business that you're
- 23:38working two or three days a week at, you were struggling to
- 23:42transition out and jump? And it was obvious
- 23:48I think it was needing that false security, that
- 23:53safety blanket. And I think that's what holds
- 23:56a lot of us back because we think we need to have
- 23:59that safety blanket before we can make the move. But when we had
- 24:03the discussion of what is it costing you to actually stay, that's when
- 24:06I realized I'm like, I either earn $39 an hour or $230 an hour.
- 24:10And it was such a, bulk
- 24:16moment that I was like, what am I doing? I'm getting
- 24:23Yeah. When we measured, because there's a cost of making a decision and
- 24:27there's a cost of not making a decision. They're both decisions. It's
- 24:30a decision to do or decision not to do, but they're both decisions. So
- 24:34one of them you saw was going to create $38 an hour, $39 an
- 24:38hour. That was one decision. The other decision was $230 an hour. And
- 24:43so when we laid out the decisions, it made absolute logical sense to
- 24:46you. And you're a logical thinker through your background in, you
- 24:50know, psychology and so forth. So it's like your brain went. Instantly,
- 24:54it was amazing. But then, because you crossed him out too, I think you
- 24:58may have had, correct me if I'm wrong, you may have felt a little bit bad
- 25:01for disappointing the boss you had, because they were good people. Did
- 25:05Yes, big time, big time. Recovering people,
- 25:09please are here. Same. Yeah,
- 25:14I remember the hardest decision wasn't making the decision
- 25:17to leave my nine to five. The hardest decision was, when am
- 25:21I gonna tell my incredible boss that I'm gonna leave? And
- 25:24I remember you say, like, I think I said to you, okay, maybe in
- 25:28six months time, I'll do it. And I remember you saying to me, why
- 25:31not tomorrow? Why don't you write your resignation tomorrow?
- 25:36I was like, oh, Lloyd. always pushing
- 25:40me out of my comfort zone. And I think by the end of that week,
- 25:43I had written my resignation letter had,
- 25:47you know, I called him and I remember saying to him, I need to talk to
- 25:50you. And he just knew, I think he knew, I think any, I
- 25:53think everyone in the company knew that I was holding myself back.
- 25:57They were just waiting for me to make that step. So when I
- 26:00called him and I said, I need to talk to you, he said,
- 26:12And then within a month, uh, yeah, within a month's time I was out.
- 26:22Yes. Yes. Yeah. That's right. Even our minds playing
- 26:26tricks on us still like my dream job. Wait, my dream business.
- 26:30Yeah, there you go. I remember that. It was awesome of you to do
- 26:33that and jump. I mean, look at the time you've just six months. I'll
- 26:37do it in a year. Why? It's like why
- 26:42do we put limits on when we want to
- 26:45start living the ideal life we want to live? Our mind is like that. Our
- 26:48mind will deceive us first, then it will deceive others. So
- 26:52it deceived me. It was trying to deceive me. It's like, I'll just do it
- 26:55in six months. No, it was deceived. You deceived you first. They
- 26:58got you like your mind gets you first, like six months ago. Then you,
- 27:01then it tried to deceive me. I'll just do it in six months.
- 27:05And your brain was telling me, I'm like, no, no, no, no, brain. No, no, no, no, no,
- 27:08no. We'll just do it tomorrow, right? Yeah. And I can
- 27:13help you with those things because I have been there before. I know how
- 27:16hard it is to write the resignation letter and disappoint people to
- 27:19get what you want, right? But there's courage in that. The
- 27:23courage to be disliked, right? Great book. And so you
- 27:26did that, right? So you crossed out all the things, you alleviated all
- 27:30the overwhelm, you instantly had clarity, like
- 27:34getting rid of the bank accounts, and then the debt, and then, you know, moving
- 27:37forward with other things, and then getting rid of the stuff off your plate. In
- 27:41that exercise, you then had the courage to leave your job. Big
- 27:46changes, bold action taking. And
- 27:54Four months. Yeah, it was too. That's right, four
- 27:57months. We must have done Facebook live together.
- 28:07Yeah, four months is fast. You can turn things around in 90 days though,
- 28:10right? Like this is what you did. Now, since
- 28:14then, How has all this impacted your
- 28:18life? Like what's your financial situation like? What are some of the massive
- 28:21wins you've had financially? And what are some of the lifestyle
- 28:29No, just so many. Well,
- 28:34I'm just going to stick to the facts. So basically, like
- 28:38I said, went from $39 an hour to 230 an hour. That
- 28:41was a massive step. And then I went from
- 28:45a $1,000, $1,000 investment portfolio to 100,000 portfolio. And- One more time. Went from
- 29:06Yes. Well, that's it, right? And the thing about that,
- 29:10and it was really about following your
- 29:17So once I set it up, I just forgot about it. And
- 29:21it just kept building and building. And the dividends, I didn't take,
- 29:24I haven't taken any of my money out because I trust the system
- 29:28that we have. And that has allowed it to just do
- 29:34Yes. So you planted the tree and you've left it. Right.
- 29:41Yes. While still traveling, while still working, while still doing
- 29:45things, we're still living like you're on the Gold Coast today. And you've come from
- 29:48Sydney, so you're still doing great things, which is
- 29:52unbelievable. So well done on that. Anything
- 29:56else? Fact was, so you increase income drastically, which
- 30:04Oh, yes, what we were talking about in the car. I
- 30:08This is a lifestyle one, right? This is the this is the impact. Yeah,
- 30:12I think you're gonna tell this story. This is the impact of the things you did,
- 30:20Play the Okay, so one of my biggest values
- 30:24is to contribute, to give back. And
- 30:28As a migrant, that was one of my biggest goals, to be able to
- 30:32give back not only to my family, to my community, to
- 30:35the people around me. And one of the goals that I
- 30:38set myself last year was, I wanna sponsor at
- 30:43least one of my family members to come to Australia. Because
- 30:47if we were given that opportunity, I wanna be able to give that opportunity back.
- 30:52So I went overseas, went to my home country, actually, took
- 30:56my mom on a world trip before we got to Ecuador because
- 31:00that was, I need to give back to the woman that birthed me
- 31:04and the woman that has been my absolute hero and inspiration. So
- 31:07firstly, I needed to spoil her. And then when we
- 31:10got to Ecuador, I was like, okay, now I want to
- 31:13give back and I want to sponsor my cousin to come to Australia. But
- 31:19I didn't stop there. I was like, one's not enough. Why
- 31:22don't we go for two? And last year
- 31:26I committed to the process and I have
- 31:29been able to sponsor two of my cousins to live in Australia. And
- 31:34I can honestly tell you, it was because I had an
- 31:37investment account that I could show proof and say
- 31:45Amazing. You told me that in the car on the way here.
- 31:48I didn't know that. And I was like, oh my God, like, had
- 31:52you have not done those things that you did, you wouldn't have had the assets
- 31:57to show the government that you can actually sponsor your
- 32:00family. Man,
- 32:05we should get out a crystal ball. Hey, Pam, there's two options.
- 32:09You either make some changes and you get to sponsor your
- 32:13family. And one day that's going to help you massive. I mean, imagine the impact
- 32:16for them. Like, could you imagine the next 30 years
- 32:20for them? What it's going to be like from that one
- 32:23decision you made to help them because that one decision you made
- 32:27to help yourself. I mean, it's just,
- 32:30how do you even encapsulate that and
- 32:33measure it? You can't even measure it, right? But one thing you definitely can
- 32:36measure is you had the assets. You had the income, proof
- 32:41of income. So you increase your income. You have proof of assets. You're building assets
- 32:44for the future, not liabilities. You had the proof of paying off liabilities. You
- 32:48know, so you've done all those things. I
- 32:52was so pleased to hear that in the car. I was like, that's insanely good. Yeah.
- 32:56And it's sometimes you forget, right? Because you're so in
- 32:59the momentum of things that
- 33:03I forgot, like I forgot to tell you. And it was.
- 33:17And to me, success looks like giving back.
- 33:21Yes. And you have to, you can't give from
- 33:24an empty cup, can you? You have to, you fill your cup first.
- 33:28And I like that about your story. They say these, you know, these
- 33:31cliches and metaphors pop up, you know, like on the plane, put
- 33:35your own oxygen mask on first before you place one on your children.
- 33:39And I do feel that a lot of people do want to help people. They
- 33:42do want to contribute. I mean, we are, we like to do that. I mean,
- 33:45most people like to do that. And they're trying to do it from an
- 33:49empty cup. Right. And I'm sure you were
- 33:52trying to maybe do it from an empty cup too. Cause you said, you know, the thing you did with
- 33:55your mom and to take her on that trip, that
- 33:59must've been on your heart for a long time. And
- 34:03trying to do that from an empty bank account. Very
- 34:08And that makes me quite emotional because I remember
- 34:12how I paid for the flight was from a partnership that I
- 34:16did with one of, you know, another
- 34:19one of your students. We did a mentorship, we did a partnership. We
- 34:23ended up flying to Western Australia to do a presentation and
- 34:27our presentation that they ended up paying us
- 34:30$7,000 for. You know, obviously
- 34:35Partnerships, that's how they work. That's amazing.
- 34:39That, to be able to be like, you know what, this invoice is going to
- 34:43go towards my mum's flight. That
- 34:49Amazing. I never knew that it came from that partnership. So, because I remember you
- 34:52and AJ. AJ is another one of our students and through
- 34:56the process you get to learn and become
- 34:59friends with the other students. And we do talk about partnerships, right?
- 35:03It's also in the new book, Become Time Rich. And
- 35:06you took that on board. But again, you're an action taker. So
- 35:10you didn't just learn it, you and AJ put together a partnership because
- 35:13you realized, hey, we can collaborate. He brings
- 35:16in his greatness and cultural awareness and you bring in yours around mindset
- 35:22and the therapy side of things too and
- 35:25the psychology of the workplace and so forth. I
- 35:28was so happy to see you guys form that partnership. I remember the call where
- 35:32you were on and you said you were forming the collaboration and then you were doing the
- 35:35event, but I didn't know. I didn't even know what you got paid for it actually. That's
- 35:38amazing too. So you made three and a half grand yourself, bang, which
- 35:42is great. This is outside your core business.
- 35:46And then you used it to take your mom on a trip. Money
- 35:50is so abundant. It's so available. You
- 35:57Yeah, this is why I believe money is energy. I needed to raise
- 36:01my vibration, I needed to become a better person and I needed to be
- 36:04able to tell money that I was going to be responsible enough
- 36:09Yeah. And here it is flowing straight to you. It's
- 36:13amazing. Passive income, no debt, traveling,
- 36:17business. I know now too, you've evolved that business from
- 36:21where you first started with it. So, you know, you've gone
- 36:25from one evolution to another and now you're in a position where you've effectively
- 36:31Yes. So actually the beginning of this year, I decided to
- 36:35move my business full-time telehealth and
- 36:41Yeah. You've scaled your, your greatness, right? You
- 36:45scaled your skills to better help people across the
- 36:48country, um, inadvertently helping yourself to be able to
- 36:53Yes. I had to realize that one of my biggest,
- 36:57Things that I love to do is to travel and I had to figure out
- 37:08And again, taking action. Yes. I
- 37:12knew I had to do it. And then I gave myself three months
- 37:16to do it. And now here we are. It's full time telehealth. And
- 37:21I'm now helping people from Queensland, Sydney, Melbourne, you
- 37:24know, ACT. And it's wonderful. It's wonderful to
- 37:28be able to not limit myself to an
- 37:35Yeah. Look at you serving all over the country. And,
- 37:38uh, and that's not all you're doing. Cause you're building another, you know, you're doing some other things as
- 37:42well with some coaching and you're building your own personal brand, which
- 37:45you've begun to do. And you've got your own podcast and that's another big measurable
- 37:49thing you did. You didn't have one of them and now you have your own podcast and
- 37:57I think I'm up to my 30th episode, I think from memory. It's
- 38:00been a little bit slow because I, I
- 38:05Yes. And you've also written any writing books
- 38:09and launching podcasts and building your brand. And
- 38:12so, I mean, you've done that as well. I mean, you've just done so
- 38:15much. You're really a. you're
- 38:20a real model student of the lessons
- 38:23in these books that you've taken and implemented.
- 38:27And that's why you're in the latest one because you're just such a great example
- 38:31of someone that can get a lesson and implement it to the point where it's just insanely great.
- 38:35Like you've implemented so many things more than what I'd ever anticipate
- 38:38someone doing in two and a half years, which is why we're sitting
- 38:41in this year. And I wanted people to listen to this because you will inspire so many
- 38:45people with your story. And so that
- 38:48being said, with all that stuff you've done and
- 38:51doing and continue to doing, I know you're wanting to make some other bold
- 38:55lifestyle moves soon, but the fact that you're sponsoring your
- 38:58family is such a big... win
- 39:02you know like outside everything else for yourself like really big
- 39:05win that's a huge legacy play um that uh
- 39:09i'm so proud of you for making it so good so
- 39:12let me ask you this then to wind things up for our audience now you've
- 39:16been through this You've really been from the very beginning, like,
- 39:19look at my bank account, I feel shame, and there's $1,000 in there,
- 39:23to now sponsoring family, taking mom overseas, being
- 39:27financially independent, having assets, passive income, being
- 39:33free to serve without being in an office, so living a
- 39:36time-rich life. So with that done now,
- 39:39all that behind you, what would be some of the
- 39:42advice you can give others? Like what is your wisdom you can impart to
- 39:48Well, I think one of the things that I have also been
- 39:52doing, which I haven't mentioned is part of me investing
- 39:56in my personal development and my growth is so that I
- 39:59can impart, give that to my clients. And
- 40:03one of the things that I've seen a lot of the times
- 40:06is the poor-money mindsets that people have, the
- 40:10fact that they stay in jobs because they don't have a way out
- 40:14because of financial limitations, the fact that they're burning
- 40:17themselves to the ground because they don't think that because
- 40:22they're living paycheck to paycheck, right? So that's what I'm seeing consistently
- 40:26with my clients. And because of your teachings, I've been
- 40:29able to take that and encourage them and support them
- 40:32and help them to see that there is more. So
- 40:36I not only have learned the principles for myself, but also
- 40:41Yes, you can impart the things you've learnt. So you take it on, you take the
- 40:44value on and it works and you implement it, you get the results and then you pass it on
- 40:48which is what you've been doing. Excellent. So what you're saying to these
- 40:51guys listening and watching is when you do that and live your best life,
- 40:57Yes, but I think the best tip would be to work on
- 41:01your money mindset. The way that you look at money
- 41:05because one of the things that I didn't tell you was while
- 41:08we were going through the mentorship is that I started to
- 41:12avoid my money. Like the more money started to come in the
- 41:15more I started to avoid it. I started to avoid my bank statements, I
- 41:18started to avoid things And that's when I realized, and
- 41:22it was when we did the Money, Mind and Money event that
- 41:25I was like, oh, I have so much avoidance, where is this coming from?
- 41:30And then I had the realization that I had
- 41:33been telling myself, if I'm successful, I
- 41:37won't have love. And
- 41:43that breakthrough was like, oh, okay, well,
- 41:51Yeah, because you wanted love. And you thought if you could be if
- 41:54you're going to be successful, you couldn't get love. So why would you get
- 41:57any success? Oh, you got that at
- 42:02As our three day event we do as part of the program. And
- 42:07Yeah. You got that from that, huh? That's when we did a date with
- 42:13It's so good. It's so good. And that's why I keep going back to, you
- 42:17need to work on the way that you look at money because
- 42:20it all starts here. It all starts in your brain. And
- 42:24then it's the behaviors that you implement, the actions,
- 42:28the emotions attached to that. So if we can't
- 42:32have a good belief around money, then it's always going to
- 42:36Always. So you gotta cultivate your belief. And
- 42:42Oh, that's a really good question. Build
- 42:48Yes. Build evidence that
- 43:03There you go, build evidence. And how do we take massive messy action?
- 43:06What do we need first? What's the one thing we need? Starts with
- 43:12Yes. Courage, competence, confidence,
- 43:17which you exude now when it comes to your money. You're so poised. You're very,
- 43:21you're not in a hurry. You're very thoughtful. You're
- 43:24making cool moves to give back with the money. You've
- 43:27got a great relationship with money now, because you know what it can do
- 43:30when you wield it correctly. And as a result of that, you
