- 0:00Because Fuck you, That's Why is a founding member of the Odd Pods Media
- 0:03Network. Hello, and welcome to episode one fifty seven eight. I've lost
- 0:42track. I didn't check. That is my fault for not checking. Welcome
- 0:46to a late episode in the one fifties of Because Fuck Stevie, That's Why.
- 0:56Finally, finally, we have escaped the tyranny of our tiny weed smoking
- 1:03overlord, and we immediately forgot the number of the episode. We immediately started
- 1:08sucking up. Everything's going downhill. It's a it's a train wreck. Stevie,
- 1:12comeback. Please, we can't do this without you. Oh my god,
- 1:18my god. No. I have so been looking forward to this,
- 1:23and I can't. I can't legitimately say why. I love Stevie, and
- 1:27admittedly I am a little miffed at him, just a little. He had
- 1:33an opportunity to go with me to a guest multiple episode guest on the show,
- 1:40David Adovino's voice acting seminar, held at a college literally just minutes down
- 1:47the street, like it wasn't far, you know, so. But his
- 1:53excuse was that he wanted to spend time with family before he left on his
- 1:57vacation, which I kind of get because you know, he he doesn't have
- 2:04a job, so he sees them pretty much twenty four seven. So uh,
- 2:08you know, obviously he wants even more as opposed to Dave, who
- 2:12he sees maybe once every few years if that. So I understand why he
- 2:16would pick one over the other, especially as he'd expressed an interest in voice
- 2:22acting as a career. Might as well throw that by the wayside. You
- 2:24know that's not important. Um, yeah, as you do as you do.
- 2:30Yeah. Oh, I'm giving Steve such a hard time as soon as
- 2:32he comes back. Oh, I can't wait. I hope, I hope
- 2:36he listens to this. I genuinely hope he listens to this and goes,
- 2:38God, damn it. That's the goal, sir. I am just trying
- 2:46to reb you so hard that you just either cringe or just can't help it
- 2:51and laugh out loud while while editing this. That is the goal. Um,
- 2:54this isn't going to be a straight hour of picking on TV, although
- 2:59I kind of it would be. Could and we definitely could. There's so
- 3:02much ammo there is. You're kind of drowning at it. Too much Ammo,
- 3:07not enough guns, I think is the problem. Um, so obviously
- 3:14with just the two of us. This isn't going to be a regular episode.
- 3:15It's going to be somewhere between a regular episode and a chill episode.
- 3:19We're not exactly going to be playing games, um, but aside from just
- 3:23a general catch off how you doing which amen up to, which we usually
- 3:25do in the chill So, I also want to spend some time working on
- 3:30something that we've discussed on the show multiple times and have never actually like taken
- 3:36any major steps towards making happen. We've been talking about doing like a live
- 3:40play D and D show called High Fantasy, because you know, the two
- 3:46players are very prominent stoners and their DM me is not, so it would
- 3:53be interesting in the very least try and make such a thing happen. Um,
- 3:59but I don't. I feel like I don't know enough about marijuana and
- 4:03weed culture to really make that happen convincingly. So my idea was that,
- 4:10you know how some Dungeons and Dragons campaigns have a Session zero, yeah,
- 4:15where all the players in the DM get together and they figure everything out,
- 4:18um, you know, their characters and all that. This is going to
- 4:21be kind of a Session one, a Session one. Yeah. We're actually
- 4:28taking a step back before the session zero, where what I would like to
- 4:31do is talk it over with you and develop like the general sense of the
- 4:36world, maybe some of the countries and their politics and maybe I don't think
- 4:42we're gonna get into politics too much, and and possibly some weed based game
- 4:47mechanics. Okay, like you know, just something to think about. Um,
- 4:53that's what we're going to be doing later in the show. But obviously,
- 4:56again with chill shows, we pretty much always start with how you doing?
- 5:00Watchmen up to Augie, what's going on? Did you want to play
- 5:03your theme song? I could play my theme so why not? Yeah,
- 5:06let's hear it. He's a gay so good, so good. Um,
- 5:32so, hey man, how you doing? What's going on? What's you
- 5:35been up to this week? I know CEV was getting ready to leave and
- 5:40all that. Uh, and I assume by spending time with the family he
- 5:44included you in that sentiment, I would hope, so I certainly hope.
- 5:47So I'm pretty sure he did. But um, yeah, I've been working
- 5:51on stuff for the podcast, uh, stuff for our YouTube channel, stuff
- 5:57like that. But I've also been playing a lot of video games naturally,
- 6:03naturally, naturally, as you do as I do. Uh, It's it's
- 6:09really hard because like I have so many of them, and they're all a
- 6:12lot of them are so good, so it's hard to keep my interest in
- 6:15one long enough to be like before I look at another and go, oh,
- 6:17I want to play that today. Yeah, I know the feeling being
- 6:21a retro game fan like I have. I've built so many machines that have
- 6:27like thousands of games on them, and like just knowing that when I go
- 6:31back to them, instead of playing and trying something new, I'll almost always
- 6:35play something I've already played, right, and just replay it. I wonder
- 6:39why that. You must be like a comfort thing, right, It's it's
- 6:42familiarity for sure. I mean there's a nostalgia thing to it too, I
- 6:46think, um, but yeah, no, I absolutely, I absolutely adore
- 6:49playing revisiting some of those worlds again, you know, so I totally get
- 6:54it, Yeah for sure. But can you name any of these games even
- 6:57playing recently? Like I know we played No Man's the hell out of that
- 7:00for a while. Yeah. Yeah, Steve and I have been playing Generation
- 7:03zero, which is like another game on the You've mentioned that's an FPS against
- 7:09like robots and the apocalyptic setting, which is really interesting, very very interesting.
- 7:14I like it's very graphically beautiful, and I really like how they did
- 7:19the AI in that game. They're very much kind of like they range between
- 7:24stupid robots to like they'll literally ambush you, like set up an ambush and
- 7:30lure you into it and then suddenly you're getting shot from like all different It's
- 7:33crazy. Yeah, And it's a mostly open world game too, which it
- 7:36makes it even crazier. I mean it makes sense that like a computerized life
- 7:41form that like destroyed all of humanity would be pretty good at at doing that,
- 7:46like you know, tactics and strategy. I would think, um,
- 7:50but in an event, yeah, Kynet wasn't very good at killing people.
- 7:55Just kept getting viruses. It was. It was just lucky, you know,
- 7:58it just kept stumbling into lucky lucky wins. Uh. I love the
- 8:05idea of a completely incompetent sky Net. It was just, oh, I
- 8:09guess those humans are dead now, thank you volcano. You know, like
- 8:13like just wait, when did we send our terminator back to wait? We
- 8:22send him back without any clothes or weapons? Oh man, not again.
- 8:26There he is in like Pennsylvania getting beaten with bats. I mean, he's
- 8:33a terminator. It's like bother him. But I'm not gonna stop you for
- 8:37either. I'm not gonna stop me either. Um that's funny. Uh.
- 8:41Yeah. No, I've been meaning to check out Generation zero because I know
- 8:45you guys are into it. I just haven't gotten around to it. Yeah.
- 8:46And there's another game that we talked about recently, which I was pointed
- 8:52to by a work associate called Deep Rock Galactic. Yeah, it's on sale
- 8:56for ten bucks. Now. I'm like, I have to pick it up
- 8:58right and try it. I still haven't done that. I still haven't.
- 9:01It's been it's been on sale for like a week. I should probably get
- 9:05on it before it goes off styles. Yeah, I'm like if I'm gonna
- 9:07do this, but I'm like, I have enough games, Like, you
- 9:13know, you get to this point where you're like, I have a collection.
- 9:16There's thousands upon thousands of games deep Like my Steam catalog is a couple
- 9:20of thousand, My God catalog is a couple of thousand, and then there's
- 9:24all the retro games, which numbers in the multi thousands. So it's like,
- 9:30I really don't need anything new, you know, unless it really catches
- 9:33my eye. I'm probably not going to go out and grab something, although
- 9:37I am tempted with Deep Rock Collactic because we've been doing a lot of co
- 9:41op shooters lately in that, right, that could be another fun one.
- 9:45Oh yeah, absolutely, yeah, I think so. All right, So
- 9:48that's that's all you've been doing, just playing video games? Yeah, waiting
- 9:52for Stevie to leave so you can stretch your legs and yeah, metaphorically,
- 9:56finally I can make fun of the guy. Yeah. No, we can
- 10:00actually separate a whole section of the show just to make fun of him.
- 10:03We can do that, all right, Yeah, all right, that'll be
- 10:05the final section of the show. I think. Okay, let's do that.
- 10:09They can't listen to everything else, and yeah at the end, kid,
- 10:13Yeah, yeah, yep, just just dog pile them right at the
- 10:16end. It'll be fun. Enjoy that. Stevie. Uh sure you can't
- 10:20work? Um okay, so um yeah, let's talk about me then,
- 10:26I guess, um, I guess we could play my theme song if we
- 10:31were so inclined. Hey man, uh, Mexican, I love you.
- 10:52I'm just saying, uh, genuine from the heart. Really really enjoy the
- 10:58fact that you made the for us. They fill my heart with joy every
- 11:01single time. Uh, and mine especially because I mean it's mine and it
- 11:05makes me glow like me. Uh. Anyway, Oh, we're getting some
- 11:11weather, are we? Yeah the way you might you might hear the wind
- 11:15just half way because you know, New York being New York. Yeah.
- 11:20Uh. In any events, So as for me this week, like on
- 11:24the video game front, nothing really new. I did finish the the Super
- 11:28Metroid Zelda three crossover one more time, this time with Batman and Alley Card.
- 11:33Um. What I'm looking for I'm looking for an easy seed um because
- 11:39Stevie says he's looking forward to playing it. I don't know how familiar he
- 11:43is with both of these games, so I'm like, which games Super Metroid
- 11:46and Zelda three a link to the past? Zelda three he'd be pretty familiar
- 11:50with. Okay, I've never heard or seen him play Metri. Yeah,
- 11:54I don't know if. I don't know if he's big on Metroid, So
- 11:56I don't so I'm I'm I'm gonna give him like a range of difficulty modes
- 12:03where like Deadpool and Mega Man X are like the hardest difficulty, It's still
- 12:07very completable. I finished it in about twelve hours. I mean, for
- 12:13for a super anintend No game, that's damn good. That is why that
- 12:16is really good. Um and uh like Batman and Ally Card is probably going
- 12:20to be somewhere in the middle because it was slightly easier, but it did
- 12:24still take me like twelve hours. Um. But the morph ball at least
- 12:28is you can find it right away, and the sword's pretty easy to find
- 12:31as well. Um, but I'm setting one up now. It's gonna be
- 12:37Luigi and the guy from Contra as the Pemiere playing as But I'm I'm deliberately
- 12:43setting the first sword and the morph Ball in their original locations so you'll easily
- 12:50be able to get started. Like but but I want to make sure that
- 12:54the seat itself isn't too complicated, like the hard part of the Batman Versus
- 12:58Alley Card is. Like for the longest time, I needed several items to
- 13:03go look for another item, to go find another item, like it was
- 13:07insane. I couldn't finish the very first dungeon until the very end of the
- 13:11game because because the bow, the item you usually find in the first dungeon,
- 13:18was dropped by the boss of the last dungeon totally shit. Like,
- 13:22so I literally went through the entire game without the bow until the very end,
- 13:26and I think the first dungeon is the it might be one of two
- 13:31dungeons that you can't complete without the bow. So so there were these two
- 13:37dungeons that I literally couldn't couldn't finish, and I'm like, I have to
- 13:41go to the very end of the game to find the item that nine and
- 13:45to find out that that's where the bow, like, because I was looking
- 13:48everywhere to I eventually had to give up and look through the spoiler log.
- 13:52Because every time you do a randomizer create one, it generates a spoiler log.
- 13:56So if you get lost and you don't know where the items you're looking
- 14:01for are, you can go through it and it will tell you where to
- 14:05find it. So it's like a it's it. I like the term spoiler
- 14:09log because that is what it is. It will spoil where the items in
- 14:11the game are. But it's a great tool to have if you just want
- 14:16to have it and as like, Okay, I'm stuck, you know,
- 14:20and then it can be like I'll just turn to this and I'll I'll find
- 14:24out. So I'm that's another feature of these randomizers that I love so so
- 14:28much. But I'm looking for a seed that I can successfully go through without
- 14:31having to turn to that log. If I can do that, then I'm
- 14:35like, that's gonna be the easy seed. That's gonna be the ones you
- 14:37guys or Stevie or whoever plays it can complete without worrying about it like it's
- 14:43it won't It won't be too hard, it won't be too difficult. You
- 14:46know, it'll just be you know, somewhat randomized, but not to the
- 14:50point of like hair pulling. Where is that Thingum? So hopefully that's that's
- 14:56something I will find in this seed that I will tell stout surely. Um.
- 15:01But yeah, now I've been having fun with that. More importantly for
- 15:05me, m my novel. There have been some really significant strides this week.
- 15:11Good So a friend of mine pointed me to a to a publishing company
- 15:18in our area. It's woman owned and they heavily support LGBTQ causes, and
- 15:28they are also they're also just starting out, and they are also looking for
- 15:35debut authors. And I was like, is this kids met Like this just
- 15:41dropped out of the sky on me, and I took a look at them
- 15:46and I was like, okay, obviously I don't recognize any of these names.
- 15:52But what they do is they will actually publish the printed form of your
- 15:58book for you, and they will go to local bookstores and try to get
- 16:07your book put in those stores day. Um. So they also will sell
- 16:14you know, an ebook online. Um, and the cuts that I would
- 16:18get for those are pretty standard. Um. You know, so for a
- 16:23physical a physical copy, I would get thirty percent, which sounds awful,
- 16:30you know, um, but the publisher is getting sixty percent, and most
- 16:37of that is going to go into creating the physical copies, like yeah,
- 16:42because because making these things cost money. Um. And the remaining ten percent
- 16:49this is what I love. Ten percent of every sale of the book goes
- 16:55to an LGBTQ charity of the author's Choicely shit, that's awesome, which I
- 17:02am absolutely a huge fan of. So we had. I reached out to
- 17:07them. I was like, hey, I am a debut author looking to
- 17:11get my book published and you were recommended to me, and I was like,
- 17:15can we do like a meeting of some kind and she was like sure,
- 17:21like I'm available this afternoon. I'm like, oh, perfect, okay,
- 17:25so am I so I held a meeting. It was about half an
- 17:27hour. I asked her a bunch of questions. The author gets to you
- 17:33know, retain the majority of their rights, and all rights revert to the
- 17:38author after the publishing deal is over or you know ended, or you know
- 17:45what have you. So, like, I can't lose the rights to my
- 17:49book, which is a big thing from the publishing company gets to sell some
- 17:56merch based on my book. Um, but anything that they don't provide I
- 18:03can sell myself. I retain the rights to sell anything that they don't and
- 18:07I still get a cut of anything that they sell. Um. So,
- 18:11you know, so if I wanted to do, say, coffee mugs,
- 18:15this was the This was the example she gave that coffee mugs. You know,
- 18:18if I was to sell coffee mugs with thine emblazoned on them, I
- 18:22could do that, and you know it would be entirely my my operation.
- 18:26You know, I get to keep all of it, night have the full
- 18:29rights to do it, which you know might be something I do. Because
- 18:33she also said, like among other things, we will like work to schedule
- 18:38you appearances. So I would go to be like the local author at said
- 18:45local bookstore, for a day doing signings or um you know, which I'm
- 18:49terrified of because I know nobody's going to show up. Um so I'm basically
- 18:55gonna be begging my friends please come by and just keep me company for like
- 18:57an hour or something, just to make sure I'm not sitting there cursing sky
- 19:03all by myself all day long. Um so yeah, but I said,
- 19:11you know, could conventions be a thing and she was like, oh,
- 19:12absolutely, terrently don't have any relationships with any cons and I was like,
- 19:18well I do, so I might be able to actually swing some of those
- 19:22for me. And she says, oh, that's great, that's perfect,
- 19:26and I was and she was like, we're also gonna want you to be
- 19:30you know, on your social media and I said, oh, oh honey,
- 19:33it's like when my book launches. And I'm warning everybody now everybody listening
- 19:38to this, I've already said it to my friends online and off. I'm
- 19:44like, when my book launches, I am going to be obnoxious. I
- 19:48Am literally going to be that guy who is constantly saying, you know,
- 19:52hey, the sky is lovely to morning, just like my book thing,
- 19:56which you can find it bookstores near you, you know, it's gonna I'm
- 19:59not going to stop. I'm going to just keep doing it because because I
- 20:03know that one of the things I've never been good at is selling myself.
- 20:08So for me, like this is an exercise in learning to do that.
- 20:14Like this book and I am so proud of it, and I want people
- 20:17to read it. So I am going to be like I'm going to be
- 20:22a a social media forgive the term whore for a good solid like I'm going
- 20:29to be all over it. I'm going to be like asking people if I
- 20:32can be on their podcast. I'll be like, you know, wherever I
- 20:36can get if I can get published in a newsletter somewhere, like, I
- 20:38will not I will not stop until, like I have exhausted the range of
- 20:45possible ways that I could get my book out there. So good. Yeah,
- 20:49I'm I'm gonna be I'm gonna be obnoxious. I've said it as it
- 20:53is. It is what it is. I'm going to be that level of
- 20:57you know, crazy about it. But it's it's a really good story.
- 21:02I really really like it. I look forward to it, and I think
- 21:04I think everyone who reads it is going to agree with me. There probably
- 21:08are going to be people who don't, but but fuck them, you know.
- 21:14So yeah really um no, So the meaning went like really, well,
- 21:21I really liked a lot of the things she had to say. She
- 21:23was like, we were also thinking, would it be possible for you to
- 21:26create a video? And I was like, you know what's funny. Our
- 21:30good friend Mexican had said that he had envisioned a piece of music based on
- 21:37a piece of concept art. Driven he's not even read the book, he's
- 21:41just seen the concept art for the cover. Uh. And he's got he's
- 21:45got music. And so I was like, we're gonna I'm gonna ask Mexican
- 21:48if I can use that music to make like a book trailer, and then
- 21:52I'm gonna post it. So she was like that is fantastic, um,
- 21:59And I was like, yeah, I think so. I'm excited. I'm
- 22:02ready to go. Um. So I sent them my manuscript, my blurb,
- 22:08and my synopsis. Now they could still say no, they could still
- 22:11say no, it's not for us. I doubt it. If anything like
- 22:17it sounds like it sounds like I my book would fill a niche that isn't
- 22:22currently isn't currently served by what they have on offer. As far as I
- 22:26can tell from their website, Okay, like I don't see a lot of
- 22:29thrillers in their in their output, so to speak. Yeah, so I
- 22:33think I think I might be good here if they if they like the writing
- 22:38enough, which they might fingers crossed knock on wood. Um, And then
- 22:42what they'll do is they'll send me a contract for reading. Like even if
- 22:48I signed it and send it back, it wouldn't it wouldn't count. Like
- 22:52this is this is meant to be read over, to be checked. So
- 22:55I'm probably gonna have to hire a lawyer just to make sure I'm not misunderstanding
- 23:00anything. Um, but I think, yeah, this this might be happening.
- 23:06I might. I might not be self publishing. I might I might
- 23:08actually be using a publishing company. But that that that ten percent of every
- 23:14sale going to THAT'SLBTQ charities, was it is? It is really hard to
- 23:18turn down. And I'm just I'm just really hoping that the um that the
- 23:26that the company is true to their word and the contract is good in which
- 23:30case, in which case, I think it's going to be a no brainer.
- 23:33Oh for sure, i think I'm gonna be own with them. Um.
- 23:37So fingerscrossed knock on Wood, But we'll find out more about that in
- 23:41the weeks to come. For now, I think that's been a good chunk
- 23:45of time. I think we're good for our first break. All right,
- 23:48So we'll be back in just a minute right after this. Hi, I'm
- 24:00Sam, him Richie, I'm a little Matt. And here in the five
- 24:04section lounge, we are three dads who host a family friendly weekly podcast.
- 24:08Yep, we laugh, We go on tangents, and we talked to great
- 24:12guests tangents. I don't know what you're talking about with that. You know,
- 24:15there are gases leaking, all right, all right, okay, Yeah,
- 24:18we have legendary conversations from sports to history and everything in between. So
- 24:23be on the lookout for what we do next, and always be there too.
- 24:40Hey man, welcome back. Uh yeah, so part two, assuming
- 24:45that we don't have any voicemails or emails, no, no, not that
- 24:49I can see you, guys, what are you doing? Listeners, particularly
- 24:55those in other countries like we would love to hear from you. I mean,
- 25:02I would completely understand if maybe your English isn't that great, or maybe
- 25:04you're embarrassed, that's fine, you know, don't feel don't feel pressured.
- 25:08Into it. But we have a voicemail widget on our website specifically for this
- 25:12purpose. It gives us something to talk about, it gives us a chance
- 25:17to connect with our fans, and we absolutely love it. So go to
- 25:19bfy twpod dot com, that is b fy twpod dot com and check the
- 25:29contact us section of our website and you will find the voicemail widget and you
- 25:33just have to speak into your your phone's microphone or your computers microphone and leave
- 25:40us a message. And we'd love to hear what you have to say about
- 25:42anything, from our games, from the stuff that we're talking about going on
- 25:47in our lives, any of it. Please feel free to bring it.
- 25:48We love, we love la la our voicemails, and we love our fans,
- 25:53so absolutely do it. But moving on from that, I think we
- 25:59should spend part two talking about high Fantasy and starting to get this idea off
- 26:03the ground. In Augie, during the break, you said you have an
- 26:07idea, so I had I wanted to clarify some stuff first, So okay,
- 26:11you would be the one DM incorrect as far as I know. Yeah,
- 26:14okay, so hey, have you decided? What how do I say
- 26:18that I want to say platform but I don't think platforms, right do you?
- 26:22What addition are you going with? Are you just going to classic D
- 26:26and you're gonna stick with five V because it's what I know? Okay,
- 26:30Well, I wanted to just give you some um like not suggestions, but
- 26:33just like so keep an open mind so you know what's available to you.
- 26:37I brought thound some of my books here just to kind of like show you,
- 26:41like as a knack stuff over so as you can see the first one
- 26:45star Finder book. So if you've ever familiar with Pathfinder, Um, Starfinder
- 26:49is that but in space pretty fun stuff. Uh, you can plays like
- 26:56a rat person and many many other types of aliens. Think of like trying
- 27:03to think of what's a good anyone. If anyone's watched Archer, they had
- 27:10like a whole season of when he was like in space, and it's kind
- 27:12of what Starfinder is, where you just goof around with your buddies doing random
- 27:18stupidmissions for corporations. Oh um, oh how did this get in here?
- 27:25You can always do high fantasy in the realm of Call of CTHUL. Oh
- 27:30yeah, you know, nothing more, nothing more cosmic than elder gods.
- 27:38Yeah, yeah, that's that's that's that's just got weed enthusiasts screamed all over
- 27:45it, right, I guess, And then uh, of course I don't
- 27:48know if it's a great probably probably not a great fit. But then I'm
- 27:52not I'm not against the idea of weed in space space. I'm like,
- 27:59I just think about it just like getting because those those genres haven't been crossed
- 28:03over. To my mind, there's no space wede comedy out there, right,
- 28:10how like how fucked up would that be? I guess we could find
- 28:14out, is the thing. My idea is, like we just go through
- 28:17like the different genres of sci fi, like all we just go through like
- 28:21all kind of like um parodies of all the popular movies like Alien something else
- 28:26that I know, just every episode is a parody of some kind of other
- 28:30space thing. Yeah, just like it's just a parody, but it's just
- 28:33us going through it high, but like none of the bad shit happens because
- 28:37it's everyone's just high blundering around. Think about it, like an alien,
- 28:42it's just like instead of it would be your character, except you just be
- 28:45chest as Signy Reaver in like the suit, just fighting a giant alien that
- 28:52looks vaguely like, oh my god, they all look like like everyone though
- 29:00it looks like a Penis moster, you do never have to restat a monster.
- 29:02They just all be Penis Monster. The same thing with Calathulu, just
- 29:07all be Penis. I feel like you'd have to be stoned to get through
- 29:12a campaign. You'd have to be super stone to get through all the pain.
- 29:17But like, instead of dying from insanity, you just like go get
- 29:21sober and then you have to go carry out of your normal life. I'm
- 29:22gonna go get some munchies and call it a day. Yeah, I've had
- 29:27enough of abominations beyond Mortal Ken. Yeah, I think Barbie, and then
- 29:34the last one I had in Barty. Sorry sorry, I couldn't help it.
- 29:38And the last one I had was Vampire. Not this edition. Obviously,
- 29:41they're like the older one, the one right right, But for the
- 29:45people listening, he actually brought these books in the core rule books of each
- 29:49Funny enough, I didn't have access to my fifth edition core rule book for
- 29:53T and D. They're both being borrowed naturally, naturally, that's just how
- 29:59I I've got those at home, so yeah, that's not a big deal.
- 30:02But this one I'm like, I don't know how we would make it
- 30:04work. I feel like it come off too much dead and loving it.
- 30:08Yeah, yeah, it's it would vampire vampire screwball comedy, which I mean
- 30:15is fun, but it's it's been done. Whereas I feel like the space
- 30:18downers like that that's not that's not a thing that's been done. So why
- 30:22not let's let's take to the stars. That's very really cool. So I
- 30:29have been thinking of like what the world should be like, and I feel
- 30:33like there should be like two competing major powers, Like there should be like
- 30:40the Sativan Empire okay and the Indican Republic, Like like you know what I
- 30:48mean, Like just now, now, since we're doing this in space,
- 30:52these can actually be like you know, groups of planets, galaxies or whatever.
- 30:57Yeah, it could just be like one galaxy is really chill and just
- 31:03they just call it the Bowl, just basically just chilling out, eating,
- 31:07relaxing, not taking too much seriously, Whereas the sativa Ins are industrious,
- 31:15yes, getting shit done, but they're super creative. Um you know,
- 31:19so like neither is typically evil, but you know, given how much passion
- 31:26people tend to have for one versus the other, I feel like there could
- 31:30be some tension there at tension. I don't know. I don't think there's
- 31:34ever any tension when it comes to weed. Yeah, probably not. I'm
- 31:37like, I don't see people throwing down over which is better into car sativa,
- 31:42but I could see the contrast. It's kind of like the difference between
- 31:45light and dark, whereas one is just more energetic, more like expansionism almost
- 31:52like thing, and the other ones more kind of like inclusive, like just
- 31:56kind of you know, this is our shit, that's it. But neither
- 32:00is aggressive. No, neither is aggressive, So like where does the conflict
- 32:06come from in that? Like, that's that's the issue that I'm having.
- 32:08Okay, let's putting this together. If Stevens aren't aggressive with their expansionism,
- 32:15which expansionism usually is aggressive, but it would also be a new ish story.
- 32:22But we also have to keep it interesting, right, maybe there's a
- 32:27third party. There's the balance, and there's a third party throwing it off.
- 32:31It's the hybrids. Oh god, not the hybrids. The hybrids.
- 32:44That's a good one. Yeah, No, I like, guy, what
- 32:46what would they be doing throwing off the balance? So like they're making Stevens
- 32:52like they're they're giving them the like you know, making a like indicant,
- 32:58like whether they're getting slower or more lazier and something that the indikants like they're
- 33:01more like busier and but it's like disrupting. It's like disruptive to society.
- 33:07So like, but they're blaming each other, not realizing that there's a third
- 33:09party behind the works hybrids the hybrids. Interesting now would hybrids are just known
- 33:17as hybrids in Yeah, they're just because they're like a combination. Yeah.
- 33:22Yeah, So there's not like an overarching name. No, I mean they
- 33:27all have their own individual name, like you can be like those are like
- 33:29the faction names like gorilla glue or we absolutely are naming some baddies after strains.
- 33:39There is there is no getting around that, like baddies and and possibly
- 33:44weapons and armors, you know. Um so yeah, so I like the
- 33:50idea of their being like this this hybrid group um on both sides, um,
- 33:57but are causing chaos between too because it's just something their way of life.
- 34:01Yeah yeah, exactly exactly. That's there's something to that and we can
- 34:06play with that. Um. I'll have to put some thought into the like
- 34:12I don't want to discuss too much with it. Like I don't mind discussing
- 34:15the world and even even coming up with weed mechanics, but I mean,
- 34:19obviously, because you're gonna be playing, I want the story and even things
- 34:22like the villain to be surprises. Um, So I don't want to go
- 34:27too much into any of that. But I like the idea of developing a
- 34:30world. Yeah, would either the Indican Republic or the Stephen Empire have a
- 34:35capital? I would imagine this Stephen Empire would absolutely have a capital. It
- 34:38would have to be whatever, hold on, let me see, But like
- 34:43I would think, like I would feel like the Indicans, the Indican Republic
- 34:47wouldn't have a capital, Like they'd have a government, but it doesn't really
- 34:52do much right right, I mean you couldn't name it and they and they
- 34:55just kind of meet or convene their government where ever, like they don't have
- 35:00they don't have a specific capital because they've just never bothered. It's like they've
- 35:07just never We've just never gotten around to having a capital. Man. Yeah,
- 35:14I like that. I'm gonna say the Indian Republic has no capital city,
- 35:16whereas the Satvans have like multiple capitals, like too many cities. Yeah,
- 35:22maybe too many. Maybe maybe they're overpopular to spread out. Like there's
- 35:25there are countries in the real world that have multiple capital cities, but but
- 35:30they're usually like different. These capitals handle different things, like there's the military
- 35:35capital, there's the bureaucratic capital, and then there's the economic capital kind of
- 35:38thing. Um, so maybe the Sativans do the same thing. Maybe they're
- 35:43maybe the Sativans are actually kind of organized, right, yeah, yeah,
- 35:46they're more organized more Um, I'm gonna say they have multiple capitals. See,
- 35:52that's that's what works out though, because it kind of that's what does
- 35:55the distrust, because the for the Sativans or for the Indicans, they could
- 36:00be like, well, they're more productive, so they would have came up
- 36:05with a plan to make us more productive like them, and vice versa,
- 36:07like oh, they're they're always going too much, you know, so the
- 36:12Indians are trying to slow us down and try to get it keep us from
- 36:15doing what we're doing. Right, Yeah, no, that makes maybe that's
- 36:20part of it too, because so it can be like a kind of combination
- 36:22tension thing. So it's not enough that it just split down the middle.
- 36:25Maybe it isn't just split down the middle. But it's getting there, and
- 36:29that's where the tensions are coming in. And that's why the hybrids are going.
- 36:32Yeah they're not, they're not at war. They're getting there. Yeah,
- 36:37if they can, if the Sativans continue to expand and the Indicans continue
- 36:43to not do anything. I mean, just say it like that makes it
- 36:49sound like right, I mean, it's it's funny though, and it's got
- 36:55I mean, you know, I'm not I'm not objecting. I'm not objecting
- 36:58it find another like purpose behind it. But yeah, Indicans are like,
- 37:04well, it took another part of our land. I guess we can't party
- 37:07there. Well maybe they're not. Maybe they're not keeping up with like certain
- 37:09packs and trade agreement. Oh yeah maybe yeah that makes sense, so like
- 37:14maybe they're not. Yeah, yeah, there's partner they're they're they're not they're
- 37:16not keeping their end of the trade up because they were too lazy. They
- 37:22were too they got high. I forgot. Oh man, oh this is
- 37:28gonna be fun. We have a capital we do. Yeah, I got
- 37:30high and forgot for sure. We got around too that. Yeah, I
- 37:36wish we'd were gotten around to that. Man. They make it almost funnier
- 37:38because then they would to lose the capital. The capital would always be different
- 37:42because they'd always get high and forget what the original capital is. So they
- 37:45just choose a new place as a capital. Oh man, I dig it,
- 37:51I dig it um. Okay, So let's also talk like leaders.
- 37:59So how would these be led? Would Indian Republic have like one central leader
- 38:04or would it just be like a group like a congress sort of? I
- 38:07feel like both have to have counsels, like I think having like you can
- 38:13have like a single like you know, like a prime minister kind of person,
- 38:16but I think that they all should be like counsel ran so that way,
- 38:21it's it's a multi shifted thing as opposed to one person's the responsible for
- 38:25like all this bullshit. Um. I almost feel like the Sativan Empire might
- 38:36have one leader, like like an emperor. He might be a figurehead.
- 38:40Maybe maybe the Indica people have a different leader. Every time they have a
- 38:44have to do stuff. It's just like you not my turn, dang,
- 38:52it was my turn last month. They basically all stand in a circle and
- 38:54then you not me, and the person who does it last. They just
- 38:58they could they all walk in. They all sit around like get around the
- 39:00chairs, like okay, we're about to convene, and just everyone just stands
- 39:04up and puts a finger on their nose and the last person that does it
- 39:07goes, god damn it, and then that has to walk up to the
- 39:09front. I am the High counsel for today, yes, yes, yes,
- 39:22just like okay, so we'll see the Indian High counselor High Counsel.
- 39:30I really like that Indian High counselor chosen chosen by game of not me.
- 39:47That's fantastic, Oh my god. And you can have different personalities for each
- 39:52one too, like just some just don't want to fucking do it, and
- 39:55the others are like trying to be helpful. But there are I'll do it,
- 40:00man, just point me to this thing. I'll do it. Yeah.
- 40:05Um, okay, the Sativan Emperor should be a bit more empt High
- 40:15emperce be high h gotta always be prefaced with High Sativa and high Emperor.
- 40:21And I assume that this person would be chosen by different means. Now we
- 40:25don't have to go um, we don't have to go um uh like uh
- 40:35like hereditary, like you know, he got it from his father and so
- 40:38on and so forth. Um. But if so then how is the emperor
- 40:45chosen? If I can spell it correctly, there we go, God,
- 40:49the Sativan High Emperor. His tolerance, his tolerance. So they have they
- 40:55have a they have what like a contest every two years. Yeah, every
- 41:00two years they test your tolerance and then you can compete. So like you
- 41:06can overboard and it's not safe, but you can't overboard on weed, but
- 41:10it won't kill you, right, But the higher tolerance you have, the
- 41:13more you can smoke. Right, every two years, the person with the
- 41:19highest tolorrance because he's the one that won't get so stone that he can't do
- 41:25anything right right exactly exactly, He'll always be able to function in some Yep,
- 41:31he'll be a function They have to be a functional stone. Oh that's
- 41:37perfect. That is perfect and that I love that. I absolutely love that.
- 41:44That is fantastic. Oh my god, Wow, it actually works out,
- 41:47like once you light start laying it out, it really does work.
- 41:51Yeah, it really does. I'm genuinely like looking forward to this. It's
- 41:54gonna be fun. Um Okay, so I feel like that's that's no world
- 42:00for me to get started, like, and I can I can, you
- 42:02know, detail out the rest of it. On my own. But let's
- 42:06also talk about mechanics, because obviously smoking weed is going to be a very
- 42:08important mechanic to this, and based on the strain, it will have different
- 42:12effects. Yeah, So how do you think, just as as a DM
- 42:19yourself and one who is admittedly much more experienced than me, what do you
- 42:23think would be like a good a good base mechanic to work from when when
- 42:31when consuming we've like, how does that affect your character in a way that
- 42:37is fair but still fun? Okay, So what you would do is that
- 42:43when you smoke weed, you have disadvantage on intelligence checks, but advantage on
- 42:50wisdom checks. Okay, Um, depending on the strain. If it's a
- 42:57sativa, you would have of um possibly hmm. I say you should probably
- 43:05get checks on like advantages with like acker bat like stuff that allow things that
- 43:12you would be physically doing kind of thing, whereas if you were to do
- 43:15indica it would be more spiritual. So like you get like pluses on like
- 43:20religion and like uh and like insight and stuff like that. Okay, So
- 43:28it doesn't have any effects however on your base stats. Um, just just
- 43:34advantages and disadvantages. It won't plus or minus anything. Now you could with
- 43:38various strains eventually branch out to that sort of thing. Yes, okay,
- 43:43because so in the because it's high fantasy. Yes, um, I don't
- 43:46know why I emphasize high and not fantasy very high fantasy, very high fantasy.
- 43:53But mainly because it's fantasy, you can also make it's that way to
- 43:57do magical effects. Like you can be like, oh, you smoke this
- 44:00like dragons breath weed or something like that, and then so you get a
- 44:01breath weapon for charge. Or you can do something like a healing one where
- 44:07it heals like a like a small potion would. Or you can have another
- 44:09one with a CBD heavy strain. Yes actually actually heals a mental physical damage
- 44:19or sorry, psychic damage. Um. Yeah, no, that's that's very
- 44:22good idea. I like that. Yeah, I like that. There could
- 44:24be ones that like help with like uh so like expedition's retreat, like ones
- 44:30that just allow you to kind of ignore exhaustion for a bit and you to
- 44:32move faster, or like some I'm trying to not to like give you like
- 44:38pluses or minuses to stats themselves, right, because that's what kind of can
- 44:43break a game. And it's also not very interesting. No, it's better
- 44:46to have an effect, and not every effect needs to be like, oh,
- 44:50you can cast a spell this way or something like that. Maybe it
- 44:52can be like for this amount of time you see things in a different shade
- 44:58of color or something like that. Or you can taste, uh, like,
- 45:02you can pick out the taste, like the different tastes in a meal
- 45:06or something like that. And on the surface that might not seem like much.
- 45:08But what if you're like searching for maybe your guard bodyguarding somebody who might
- 45:13get poisoned, and you can actually root out the taste, like the off
- 45:15taste of a meal or something like that. Or if like if say you're
- 45:21in like a low light not a low light, us, say, if
- 45:23you're like you're in a situation where like the lights, like maybe you're in
- 45:28a crystal cave and the lights are being get off differently, having we that
- 45:30kind of adjust the colors that way you can maybe see better or something like
- 45:36that, so you're not being disadvantaged from the different lights and shit like that.
- 45:39Yeah. Yeah, no, I like that. I like that a
- 45:43lot um. So would there be I'm trying to think, like, would
- 45:51there be like a I mean, aside from aside from like certain things like
- 45:54you know, the breath weapons and so forth. Like I'm trying to think
- 46:00of how you can weaponize, well, how like marijuana paraphernalia could be used
- 46:10in other ways in like a d Like I'm just trying to think, like,
- 46:15is could we make I don't know. I'm not saying weapons per se,
- 46:21but like, I don't know, maybe tools would be a better word.
- 46:23I don't know. I'm trying to figure out a way to make like
- 46:28marijuana paraphernalia actually have a purpose other than just smoking marijuana. Now, this
- 46:34doesn't have to be we could just leave it alone, you could, I
- 46:36mean you could have like you could just theme them off of things like you
- 46:39can have a bearded axe and the ship the axes the shape of a weed
- 46:43leaf, or you can do like I don't know, Um, I don't
- 46:52know, Like how would you do I'm trying to think of what you would
- 46:54do with like a bomb. I'm trying to think, Yeah, you can't
- 47:00really use a bond as a weapon, not really, I mean an arcane
- 47:05focus sure, Oh yeah, I never thought about that. You could use
- 47:07a thousand percent sure, um, but Burt Lighter is an arcane focus,
- 47:13but like, yeah, it would be difficult to to make you know,
- 47:16a weapon or some other kind of gear that is pot themed. Off the
- 47:22top of my head, that's something you Yeah, I definitely have to look
- 47:24into because you have to then also think about edibles like yeah, and shit
- 47:29like that. So yeah, edible Oh boy, edibles. I'm not gonna
- 47:34get into that at the moment. But I feel like we've come up with
- 47:37quite a bit to work with here, Like I feel like I feel like
- 47:40this is a satisfying base to work for, very satisfying, especially considering the
- 47:45two countries. I love this so much. Um, it's it's we can
- 47:51go on. It's fantastic. I know we really could. Um, And
- 47:53it'll be really easy for me to fall into this and like start creating individual
- 47:59like lands and so forth. Yeah, but I'm really looking forward to it
- 48:02now real quick. With the Sativan's being like almost expansionists, which means they're
- 48:07like probably spreading with the Indicans, people are like nomadic, so they'll have
- 48:12like flotillas instead of colonizing planets. Yeah maybe. Um. I also think
- 48:16some of them are be like wherever they literally literally too late, like wherever
- 48:22they land, they're just like, all right, there we are, you
- 48:24know here, you know, there's no river here be brought while they're with
- 48:28us, humble kind of rain, you know. Yeah, like they're like
- 48:32they're like master survivalists kind of by accident, yeah, because they have too
- 48:38late, just because yeah, because they're like, oh man, no,
- 48:44that's funny that I can absolutely run with this. But I think we've we've
- 48:46we've covered enough of high Fantasy, and if this continues to develop and become
- 48:52an eventual show in addition to our bfydw or um or perhaps something we do
- 48:59do special episodes of, I'm really really looking forward to right delving into this
- 49:06world. But for now, we're going to take our second break and we
- 49:12will come back for the roast of Stevie Rights after this. Hey, this
- 49:23is Russ, this is Kyle, this is Michelle from the Effectious Screw Podcast.

- 50:13and we've decided Part three is going to be dedicated pretty much entirely to
- 50:17making fun of Stevie because he's not here to defend himself. And that is
- 50:22completely fair. Yep, absolutely I did. I never listened to the episode
- 50:28where I wasn't there. I'm pretty sure you guys mocked the shit out of
- 50:31me. Oh yeah, and I listened to the episodes when I wasn't there,
- 50:36and you absolutely did. So it's only It's only fair, Stevie.
- 50:40Ita. Um, now I should tell you what is definitely very fair.
- 50:45What's that man's skin like? He's currently away on vacation down in Florida.
- 50:52He's gonna come back a lobster and brother away. He's glows in the dark.
- 50:59Yeah yeah, um. Stevie is genuinely one of the most intelligent people
- 51:07I've ever known. I mean, at least as far as I can tell.
- 51:09The few times that I can actually look into his eyes because the glare
- 51:14from the sun off his bald head is usually pretty blinding. I thought you're
- 51:17gonna say the glaze over his eyes because I mean when he's stoned. Yeah,
- 51:23yeah, it's um, it's it's a fight to get anything concrete out
- 51:28of him. When he's focused, he's really very solid mind like a steel
- 51:31trap. He's really close, closed and rusted shut steel trap. Uh.
- 51:43Love that guy, genuinely, Yeah, genuinely, lots of love for Stevie
- 51:45Stevies. Stevie has been the guy who's been there when like the bad ship
- 51:51goes down, uh, and usually just stands in a corner, points at
- 51:54it and laughs, um, namely you yeah. Uh. Stevie's very giggly.
- 52:04Uh. He's well known as for his giggle. And I always thought
- 52:07that the the mascot we have for our logo, like he I always pictured
- 52:14him with Stevie's giggle. Yeah, yeah, absolutely absolutely, And nobody laughs
- 52:21harder at Stevie's joke than Stevie does. Nobody laughs at Stevie's joke at Stevie
- 52:28that's that's cold blooded. That's cold blooded. That's cold blooded. No,
- 52:32he is. He is genuinely very funny. I love that little, uh
- 52:37midget rap bastard. I am still kind of put out with him that he
- 52:44didn't go to the to Dave's Dave Seminar because it was legitimately a really good
- 52:47time. Yeah, I guess he had more important things to not do,
- 52:52like like hang out with his family. He's every day to sit down and
- 52:57watch TV with his family, like like you, I think every night,
- 53:00uh telling him fool you half the time, both him and I are falling
- 53:05asleep in front of that television. Yeah, yeah, no, you're all
- 53:08very old men. I somehow I'm the only one at forty three, the
- 53:14oldest of us forty two excuse me uh to be staying up until two in
- 53:19the morning playing Super Metroid and Legend of Zelda Like I'm eight years old,
- 53:23dude saying after midnight kills me now, Like it's just it's horrid. I
- 53:29don't know how I used to do it. Yeah, yeah, I don't
- 53:34know. Uh. See, Sebe deserves a lot of credit, he really
- 53:39does. We're ribbing on him, um, but it's only because we love
- 53:43him. Um and like this this podcast is mostly him. Um, so
- 53:50like it's at least one third, yeah, at least one third, Yeah,
- 53:53a good portion. I got a good port. At least a quarters
- 53:57him, maybe a fifth. No, no, no, now I'm denegrating
- 54:02his contribution to our podcast. That's not fair. Okay. He's the one
- 54:07that's editing this, so this may never you may never hear this. It's
- 54:12this may never come out in the edit. So he'll cut and paste whatever
- 54:15he wants. I'm sure he's gonna find a way to make him say Stevie's
- 54:20a great guy and just cut it off. There. That's all he should
- 54:23do. That's that's all. It's all you here is us going, here's
- 54:27our hostess, TeV I mean, is a great Give them man enough time
- 54:30and feed him enough words. He'll just make his own sentences for you.
- 54:34I'm sure. Oh Stevie, you are so white and so huge from the
- 54:42waist down. Um no, man, uh no, I'm not gonna go
- 54:50there. I had, I had, I sh that I was going literally
- 54:53was I literally went no, not going there. It evolved coming on someone's
- 54:59face because that's our mine was going. No. No, actually, I'm
- 55:02surprised. Goods outward. That's usually where Steve coats. Yeah, my mine
- 55:07involved the time he tried to get a blow job right in front of me.
- 55:12Uh why am I not surprised? Not from me, mind you in
- 55:17front of me. So that's that's surprising. Yeah, thanks, thanks a
- 55:22lot. I give premium blow jobs, goddamn it. Uh well, premium,
- 55:30premium, high quality, artisan blow jobs. No, keep it all
- 55:40in keep. You got to keep all of it absolutely, keep pucket.
- 55:49This is what happens when dry here. This is what happens when you are
- 55:52here. That is delightful. That is I I don't care. This is
- 55:57a great episode. I've had a great time. Has been productive, it's
- 56:00been productive. We had a lot of fun. We made fun of Stevie
- 56:04for five minutes straight. Not here to defend himself, so we don't have
- 56:08to listen to his whiny bullshit. I'm kidding. I'm kidding. We'll have
- 56:15to listen to his whiney bullshit when he gets to come back eventually. Yeah,
- 56:22oh man, he's one fifth the podcast, after all, he's one
- 56:25fifth. What a great callback, What a great callback. Props, props,
