- 0:14Speaker 1: dot com. Fun Episode, Everybody, Playoff Episode. I went with
- 0:19Speaker 1: a Minnesota based guest this week, incredible comedian Brian Miller.
- 0:24Speaker 1: You've seen him on the Late Late Show on CBS.
- 0:27Speaker 1: He's fantastic, diehard Viking fans. I didn't want anything adversarial
- 0:33Speaker 1: this week. Weird season, fun season, hard, fought season. I
- 0:38Speaker 1: just wanted to spend this week enjoying it with somebody
- 0:41Speaker 1: else who loved the team, and I think you guys
- 0:43Speaker 1: are gonna love it as well. Please, if you like
- 0:45Speaker 1: the show, make sure you subscribe to it and leave
- 0:49Speaker 1: us a rating and review. It really helps NA. What's alright?
- 1:04Speaker 1: What's up? Viking fans? Welcome to The Tailgate presented by Cambria.
- 1:10Speaker 1: Your Minnesota Vikings are in the playoffs. They are hosting
- 1:14Speaker 1: they are we are? How should I separated? I am
- 1:16Speaker 1: too emotionally connected. I'm going with we. We are hosting
- 1:22Speaker 1: the New York Giants at US Bank Stadium on Sunday
- 1:27Speaker 1: and joining me. Normally, this is an opposition show. We
- 1:32Speaker 1: bring on a guest of the other team and we
- 1:34Speaker 1: have fun. It's playoff time. I don't want to do it.
- 1:37Speaker 1: We've I've already talked to a Giants fan. I don't
- 1:40Speaker 1: want to do I want to be hopeful and insane
- 1:44Speaker 1: with somebody who understands a Viking fans psychology. So I
- 1:49Speaker 1: got a comedian that I came up with, incredibly funny.
- 1:53Speaker 1: He's been on the Late Late Show on CBS, one
- 1:56Speaker 1: of my favorites. Ladies and Gentlemen, bron Ian Miller and
- 2:02Speaker 1: Brian You and I have experienced this football season together,
- 2:06Speaker 1: Yes we have. We have not like holy hands exactly,
- 2:10Speaker 1: but like but holding texts. I think we were emotion
- 2:13Speaker 1: We've been emotionally holding hands this season. Yeah, yeah, Yeah,
- 2:16Speaker 1: there's been some support. There's been some support. It's been Yeah,
- 2:19Speaker 1: it's been one of those things where both it's like
- 2:21Speaker 1: talking someone through a relationship where you're like, no, I
- 2:24Speaker 1: think you should stick it out, and then they're like
- 2:26Speaker 1: they lost to the Cowboys by how much? Are you
- 2:29Speaker 1: sure you should stick it out? And then the Patriots
- 2:31Speaker 1: game happens, like, that's a good thing. You stuck it out.
- 2:36Speaker 1: I don't know how to I know we're gonna get
- 2:38Speaker 1: into all things Playoff related in this game. I'm a
- 2:42Speaker 1: warrior and a psycho. You are, I think it's fair
- 2:46Speaker 1: to say you're neurotic, Sure, a bit neurotic. How have
- 2:50Speaker 1: you experienced this absurd season? Well, you know, here's the thing.
- 2:55Speaker 1: I'm a very passionate sports fan, but I'm I'm not
- 2:58Speaker 1: one of those people who's like weak or day is
- 3:00Speaker 1: ruined by a bad game or anything. I really carry
- 3:04Speaker 1: on the rest of my life like a pretty normal
- 3:07Speaker 1: person with just a strong interest in the game. The
- 3:10Speaker 1: thing is, from the moment that the first kick is
- 3:13Speaker 1: kicked until the last second is kicked off, I basically
- 3:16Speaker 1: have to chain myself to a radiator like the Wolfman,
- 3:18Speaker 1: because I completely go insane, to the point that we
- 3:22Speaker 1: were going to watch the Packers game at my in
- 3:24Speaker 1: laws with my whole family, and my wife said before
- 3:27Speaker 1: we left, She's like, Hey, just the thought like we're
- 3:29Speaker 1: gonna be with my whole family, maybe tone it down
- 3:33Speaker 1: a little bit with the game. And I was like, oh,
- 3:36Speaker 1: come on, and then she just ran through some of
- 3:39Speaker 1: the elaborate profanities that I had yelled at the TV
- 3:42Speaker 1: the week before, which would definitely get us all canceled
- 3:46Speaker 1: from the radio and the planet Earth. And I was like, oh, yeah,
- 3:50Speaker 1: maybe I shouldn't yell that series of words every time,
- 3:53Speaker 1: justin Jefferson makes a good catch. When I was, I
- 3:56Speaker 1: taunt the other team, like I do a lot of
- 3:58Speaker 1: trash talking to the other team through the TV, so
- 4:02Speaker 1: and so, you know, especially when Jefferson's hot or whatever,
- 4:04Speaker 1: I'm it's as though I'm standing over the carcass of
- 4:07Speaker 1: some like exposed cornerback, screaming in his face, and like
- 4:10Speaker 1: my wife will leave the house, my cats will go upstairs.
- 4:13Speaker 1: It's I have to be careful about it, you know.
- 4:15Speaker 1: I have to sequester myself. I am very I liked
- 4:19Speaker 1: what you said about it not ruining your day. What
- 4:21Speaker 1: I've always said. For me, the vikings and sports can
- 4:25Speaker 1: make my day. Yeah, they can make my week. They
- 4:28Speaker 1: can improve my existence by a ton, but they can
- 4:33Speaker 1: only negatively affect it by a little bit. Like I'm
- 4:37Speaker 1: gonna be sad if they lose in the playoffs, you know,
- 4:40Speaker 1: I'm gonna be sad. I'm gonna be disappointed, But I'm
- 4:42Speaker 1: I think that's the healthy thing. You move on. I
- 4:44Speaker 1: think you gotta put yourself in a position where sports
- 4:47Speaker 1: can can improve everything but only hurt it, you know,
- 4:52Speaker 1: a little bit for a little while. You know, if
- 4:54Speaker 1: if you weren't disappointed and you weren't sad, you know,
- 4:58Speaker 1: why are you watching? Like? I don't think you can't
- 5:01Speaker 1: not be sad? Yeah? I did, I use too many negatives.
- 5:05Speaker 1: There can't sure can't not un be sad? None land
- 5:10Speaker 1: with a circle through it. I'm from Kentucky originally, so
- 5:12Speaker 1: that sentence had been perfect sense to me. But yeah,
- 5:16Speaker 1: I mean, I think as that is a thing that
- 5:18Speaker 1: being a Vikings fan has actually taught me, because I
- 5:21Speaker 1: do think there was a time that I would maybe
- 5:23Speaker 1: carry it over for a day or two. A couple
- 5:26Speaker 1: of particular playoff losses really really haunted me and to
- 5:32Speaker 1: the point where I was like, I can't let this happen.
- 5:34Speaker 1: You know, you gotta shake it off. And I will
- 5:37Speaker 1: admit though, I do think there is a little element
- 5:39Speaker 1: where when you guard yourself a little bit, as in
- 5:43Speaker 1: life and romance and everything, you don't quite have the
- 5:47Speaker 1: raw high that you get when you are just like
- 5:50Speaker 1: a maniac who's totally invested. But I don't, you know,
- 5:54Speaker 1: as I get older, I don't know that being that
- 5:56Speaker 1: maniac is the best idea. We both came up at ACNE,
- 6:00Speaker 1: one of the great clubs in America, and Lewis Lee
- 6:04Speaker 1: the most important person to me in my can I
- 6:09Speaker 1: say comedy journey? Is that corny enough? He is? He
- 6:13Speaker 1: is the most important person to me in my career.
- 6:17Speaker 1: What he's done, I appreciate him a lot. But one
- 6:19Speaker 1: thing he does do is he knows how to pray
- 6:24Speaker 1: on the emotions of a sports fan. And he found
- 6:27Speaker 1: early young sigh the MC when I was an MC,
- 6:32Speaker 1: just a just a dumb young comic. He recognized my
- 6:36Speaker 1: emotional connection to this football team and he prayed on it.
- 6:40Speaker 1: He would make so. He liked to make bets, but
- 6:43Speaker 1: not financially. To him, it was about, you know, I
- 6:48Speaker 1: want something large, like something different than money on the line.
- 6:51Speaker 1: And the first bat I entered with him was as
- 6:54Speaker 1: the Vikings were making their run in oh nine. I
- 6:58Speaker 1: thought they were going to make it to the Super Bowl,
- 7:01Speaker 1: and he just goaded me and goaded me and goaded me,
- 7:06Speaker 1: and finally I agreed to a bet that at the
- 7:09Speaker 1: time I believe what I had to do if the
- 7:14Speaker 1: Vikings lost, I had to dress in an Aaron Rodgers
- 7:18Speaker 1: jersey and let them film me doing something outrageous, which
- 7:22Speaker 1: I ended up losing. And he did. He played it
- 7:25Speaker 1: at my shows in front of my family. But if
- 7:29Speaker 1: he lost, and Lewis is a private he doesn't like
- 7:33Speaker 1: to be the star of the show. He's in the background.
- 7:35Speaker 1: He has no interest in everybody looking at him. He
- 7:40Speaker 1: was going to have to introduce me with an intro
- 7:43Speaker 1: that I wrote. And so I was so heavily invested
- 7:48Speaker 1: in that oh nine championship game, and what I didn't
- 7:53Speaker 1: foresee is I was like, oh, yeah, Lewis has my
- 7:58Speaker 1: cell phone number, and so as Adrian Peterson would fumble
- 8:04Speaker 1: or as things would go wrong, as I was riding
- 8:08Speaker 1: the emotions of this game, I would be getting text
- 8:11Speaker 1: from him. And so when my heart broke, there was
- 8:16Speaker 1: Lewis were just this jab at the end, and that
- 8:20Speaker 1: was like, that was different. Not only was it, oh
- 8:23Speaker 1: my gosh, I thought we were going to go to
- 8:24Speaker 1: the super Bowl, and then Brett Farve through it an interception,
- 8:29Speaker 1: look at my phone like it was just it was
- 8:33Speaker 1: this weird double Wyami Well I can't even imagine, because
- 8:36Speaker 1: that oh nine Brett Farve interception was one of the
- 8:40Speaker 1: two moments that did kind of ruin like forty eight
- 8:44Speaker 1: to seventy two hours for me. You know, I was
- 8:47Speaker 1: really heartbroken over that one. But also I have participated
- 8:50Speaker 1: in a couple of your lost bets. In fact, I
- 8:53Speaker 1: believe I was a member of the gambling intervention that
- 8:56Speaker 1: we did. Yes, I've I've lost consecutive uh you know,
- 9:01Speaker 1: non money bets to Lewis Lee, and one of them
- 9:04Speaker 1: was that I had to This one was the worst,
- 9:08Speaker 1: he because he basically he was developing a mini documentary
- 9:12Speaker 1: about me as what I believe was happening. Every time
- 9:14Speaker 1: I would lose, there was always a cameraman around. And
- 9:17Speaker 1: so the third one was if I lost, I had
- 9:21Speaker 1: to let someone throw an intervention for me, a gambling
- 9:24Speaker 1: intervention for me on Acme's stage during the most popular
- 9:30Speaker 1: show of the week, the open Mic. And then he
- 9:33Speaker 1: got to videotape me going and meeting with a counselor.
- 9:36Speaker 1: It was he got to he got to hire a
- 9:39Speaker 1: counselor and videotape the whole thing. And yeah, you were
- 9:43Speaker 1: part of the on stage intervention. I think you were
- 9:45Speaker 1: one of the people who read the letter. I was.
- 9:47Speaker 1: And this year he has Tommy Ryman lucked into a bet.
- 9:51Speaker 1: And if the Vikings don't win the Super Bowl, I know, right,
- 9:58Speaker 1: I mean, I'm hopeful, I'm rude for Tommy, but if
- 10:02Speaker 1: they do not win the Super Bowl, our good friend
- 10:04Speaker 1: Canadian Tommy Ryman has to read a three minute apology
- 10:08Speaker 1: letter that I personally write with my friend Dad Abrasher.
- 10:11Speaker 1: Oh no, oh, yeah, that is that is outrageous. I
- 10:19Speaker 1: I I am at the point where I know well enough,
- 10:22Speaker 1: I've learned my lesson and I'm not saying I'm done
- 10:25Speaker 1: getting sucked into his nonsense, but I I'm gonna pick
- 10:29Speaker 1: and choose my risks against him in the future because
- 10:33Speaker 1: it's it's it's really it's really tough when it goes
- 10:37Speaker 1: the wrong way, and I never have the bets when
- 10:39Speaker 1: when you would want it, like the Minnesota miracle year,
- 10:42Speaker 1: which was not a year that we thought we would
- 10:45Speaker 1: get to that record. It's not a year you know,
- 10:47Speaker 1: we we were We overachieved that season and it wasn't
- 10:50Speaker 1: involved with him in any way, shape or form that year,
- 10:53Speaker 1: So I missed out on what would have been one
- 10:55Speaker 1: of the great moments in and defeating him. Because that's
- 10:59Speaker 1: the other thing about Lewis famously famously never lost one
- 11:05Speaker 1: of these bets with with his staff. His staff is
- 11:09Speaker 1: filled with sports fans and his comedian sports. He's famously
- 11:13Speaker 1: never lost one of these. Yeah. No, and he knows
- 11:17Speaker 1: that I've told it. I shall not bet because I
- 11:20Speaker 1: know what happens. I've seen it too many times. But
- 11:22Speaker 1: I will participate in the humiliation of others who lose
- 11:25Speaker 1: the bet so I get some fun out of it.
- 11:27Speaker 1: Mineappo's miracle. By the way, oh man, I learned a
- 11:31Speaker 1: very important lesson that because I didn't see it. Okay,
- 11:34Speaker 1: I don't know if you know this. I never saw Well,
- 11:36Speaker 1: I've seen it now a million times on my phone.
- 11:38Speaker 1: Are you one of the guys who shut it off?
- 11:40Speaker 1: Threw my remote control across the room and it broke.
- 11:42Speaker 1: And when the broken remote when the remote control hit
- 11:44Speaker 1: the wall, the TV turned off, and I was like, yeah,
- 11:46Speaker 1: we're done. And I just walked away from my broken
- 11:49Speaker 1: remote control. But then I went on then because I
- 11:51Speaker 1: was so mad, I wouldn't go online, and I was like,
- 11:54Speaker 1: just gets in and I went back into my calm place,
- 11:56Speaker 1: and I like made dinner and then I went to
- 11:58Speaker 1: bed and I woke up the next day and I
- 12:00Speaker 1: checked my phone and I kept seeing on Twitter all
- 12:03Speaker 1: these things. It was like, why are people being so mean?
- 12:05Speaker 1: We lost? Why did they have to pretend that we won?
- 12:08Speaker 1: And it took me a few minutes to realize, Oh
- 12:12Speaker 1: my god, we won. So I didn't know the Vikings
- 12:14Speaker 1: won for full twelve hours after that, Oh that, I
- 12:20Speaker 1: lived in the loss for like twelve hours and then
- 12:22Speaker 1: had this weird happiness but like delayed echo, like I know,
- 12:27Speaker 1: and I didn't see the play in the moment. But
- 12:28Speaker 1: it did teach me the valuable lesson because when in
- 12:31Speaker 1: the Buffalo game, when they were down thirty three to zero,
- 12:34Speaker 1: I was supposed to go Christmas shopping, and I said
- 12:36Speaker 1: to my wife, now we gotta keep watching. I'm not leaving.
- 12:39Speaker 1: I'm not leaving until I see what happens. And then
- 12:42Speaker 1: lo and behold. You know, an hour and a half later,
- 12:44Speaker 1: Josh Allen fumbles in the end zone and I was
- 12:46Speaker 1: dancing around where the former grave site of my remote control. Yeah,
- 12:51Speaker 1: I didn't. That's the reason you don't. You can't have
- 12:55Speaker 1: the Minnesota miracle happen and then turn off. For example,
- 12:58Speaker 1: the Colts game, you just to stick it out just
- 13:01Speaker 1: in case. And maybe in this the Buffalo game, the
- 13:04Speaker 1: Colts game. Yeah, the Colts game. I didn't turned up
- 13:06Speaker 1: the Buffalo game. I never now because the Buffalo game
- 13:08Speaker 1: was similar though, if you had never had the Colts
- 13:10Speaker 1: game happened because Josh Allen did fumble in the end zone.
- 13:13Speaker 1: That was why there was a moment in that game
- 13:15Speaker 1: where they are such a good team and we were
- 13:17Speaker 1: in a situation where I think there are people who
- 13:19Speaker 1: are like, no, thank you. There was a vibe there
- 13:22Speaker 1: was a real reason some people might have turned away
- 13:24Speaker 1: from that game. Oh sure, I mean, I mean I
- 13:26Speaker 1: was actually more surprised that they beat Buffalo than I
- 13:31Speaker 1: was that they came back at halftime from thirty three
- 13:35Speaker 1: to nothing to the Colts. Basically like I I's still
- 13:39Speaker 1: the Buffalo game was almost more miraculous. But but now
- 13:41Speaker 1: because of the miracle that did now, I never I
- 13:44Speaker 1: never really do give up. That was like a lesson
- 13:45Speaker 1: of like and I didn't even entirely mean to give up,
- 13:47Speaker 1: but it seemed like when the TV turned off as
- 13:49Speaker 1: the remote hit the wall, I was like Okay, that
- 13:53Speaker 1: says enough. I'm sure I've told this story on the
- 13:56Speaker 1: podcast before. But my nephew, my oldest nephew, left the
- 14:02Speaker 1: Brett Farve to Greg Lewis San Francisco touchdown. Really he
- 14:08Speaker 1: left it. He heard it in the parking ramp, which
- 14:12Speaker 1: is such a bummer butt in a fun full circle story,
- 14:17Speaker 1: he took his oldest son. It was his oldest son's
- 14:21Speaker 1: first ever Viking game was the Colts come back, So
- 14:26Speaker 1: he missed one of the greatest regular season moments and
- 14:28Speaker 1: then you know later on got to be a part
- 14:31Speaker 1: of it. Here, let's talk about this, uh, this game, Brian,
- 14:37Speaker 1: I have I like to think I'm not a football analyst.
- 14:43Speaker 1: I'm not. I can't break down xs and os, but
- 14:45Speaker 1: I like to think that I often have a good
- 14:49Speaker 1: read on this team. Going into this year, I was like,
- 14:51Speaker 1: I generally feel like my skepticisms are warranted and my
- 14:56Speaker 1: enthusiasm is warranted. Like I feel like I'm pretty close
- 14:59Speaker 1: to some good narratives when it comes to my favorite team.
- 15:05Speaker 1: This year, I have no idea. It has been so
- 15:07Speaker 1: bananas and I and I have no idea going into
- 15:09Speaker 1: this game. I think I've spent all week going. Oh man,
- 15:14Speaker 1: I'm kind of really worried about this Giant's team, who's
- 15:17Speaker 1: already seen us on tape, given the way we've struggled
- 15:20Speaker 1: in the middle of games coming in here. And if
- 15:22Speaker 1: I was not a Viking fan, the Vikings are the
- 15:25Speaker 1: obvious team you would pick to be upset in this round.
- 15:28Speaker 1: And I mentioned that to someone who really knows football
- 15:32Speaker 1: that I respect, and his first response was, they're gonna
- 15:36Speaker 1: crush him. Dude, he goes, I just think they're gonna
- 15:38Speaker 1: and so, and then I bought into that. So I
- 15:40Speaker 1: don't know. I have no idea what to expect this weekend.
- 15:46Speaker 1: I think it's amazing that we're playing meaningful playoff football
- 15:50Speaker 1: at home, and we should enjoy that given the last
- 15:53Speaker 1: couple of years. I do think they're gonna win, and
- 15:55Speaker 1: I actually think they're gonna win a not one score game,
- 15:58Speaker 1: you know. I think they're gonna in a convincing, thorough game.
- 16:02Speaker 1: I just I don't. I think the Giants are much
- 16:05Speaker 1: more troubled even than the Vikings, but this is the
- 16:08Speaker 1: hardest to predict team. Yeah, I don't think there's any
- 16:11Speaker 1: outcome that would shock me. I think there are worst
- 16:16Speaker 1: teams that have won the Super Bowl than this Vikings team.
- 16:18Speaker 1: It just depends on what streak they're on. That is
- 16:22Speaker 1: that is very like is literally I'm gonna take your
- 16:26Speaker 1: sentence literally. Is there any outcome that could surprise you
- 16:29Speaker 1: if they're like, hey, I don't know if you guys
- 16:31Speaker 1: saw the end of the Vikings game, but a cat
- 16:34Speaker 1: got on the field, they had to delay the game.
- 16:39Speaker 1: The cat gets taken off the field. On the next play,
- 16:41Speaker 1: the Kirk Cousins throws an eighty yard touchdown with two
- 16:45Speaker 1: seconds left, cat celebrating in the end zone. It'll forever
- 16:48Speaker 1: be called the kit and come back like there is
- 16:51Speaker 1: no there is no amount of weirdness, like if our
- 16:55Speaker 1: mascot suits up this weekend and runs for two hundred
- 16:58Speaker 1: and twenty eight yards, Like you have to go far
- 17:00Speaker 1: off the beaten path to do something that would feel
- 17:03Speaker 1: weird to people you know in in this Yeah, right,
- 17:09Speaker 1: Like who's who've lived this season? It's I mean, the
- 17:11Speaker 1: NFL season has been particularly bonkers this year, but I mean, like,
- 17:14Speaker 1: I mean, arrest through a block against one of our defenders. Yeah,
- 17:19Speaker 1: and it was people forgot about that. That's not even
- 17:21Speaker 1: a memorable moment. It's like ninth on and he was
- 17:24Speaker 1: like it was a really good block, Like if you
- 17:26Speaker 1: go back and watch that, it was like a better
- 17:29Speaker 1: block than some other Like I've seen kickers not do
- 17:31Speaker 1: quite as well on runbacks, you know, trying to do
- 17:34Speaker 1: play a little defense. You know, there's been so many
- 17:37Speaker 1: bizarre things. I would argue that in any other season,
- 17:41Speaker 1: Greg joseph sixty one yard field goal would still be
- 17:43Speaker 1: like a top three Minnesota Vikings news story, like our
- 17:47Speaker 1: famous the famously troubled Vikings had a kicker who won
- 17:50Speaker 1: a game on a sixty one yarder and it was
- 17:53Speaker 1: like barely an eyebrow raiser for people. Yeah, and you
- 17:55Speaker 1: think about I've said, you know, a lot has been
- 17:58Speaker 1: made of the statistical place where this defense exists, but
- 18:03Speaker 1: have you ever seen anything in your life where, despite
- 18:06Speaker 1: statistical categories, a defense has made more clutch stops, like
- 18:12Speaker 1: any number of the clutch stops at the end of
- 18:14Speaker 1: the game, like literally ripping the ball. I can't remember
- 18:17Speaker 1: who the who it was for the Bears, but lit
- 18:20Speaker 1: was it? It was It was our old guy, wasn't it. Yeah,
- 18:26Speaker 1: that play alone would be a play like we had.
- 18:29Speaker 1: We had a really crazy defensive ending this year, but
- 18:32Speaker 1: like the Washington game where they come across the center
- 18:35Speaker 1: on the field goal and we get the ball again
- 18:37Speaker 1: after the Harrison Smith interception, the interceptions against the Cardinals
- 18:41Speaker 1: like the end of the Buffalo that everybody talks about,
- 18:45Speaker 1: like the Buffalo Jefferson catch, but you pointed out like
- 18:47Speaker 1: the thing in the end zone. Even beyond that, intercepting
- 18:51Speaker 1: Josh Allen in the other end zone, the amount of
- 18:53Speaker 1: crazy defense stops. And I think that's what you like
- 18:56Speaker 1: if you are someone who's trying to buy into a
- 18:59Speaker 1: Vikings run here, like a miracle run. Let's not say
- 19:04Speaker 1: miracle that. I think that's a little underhanded with how
- 19:06Speaker 1: well this team has done this year, but it would
- 19:09Speaker 1: be impressive to win this game and if everything holds,
- 19:12Speaker 1: Chalk go to San Francisco and win, Go to Green
- 19:17Speaker 1: Bet or excuse me, Philadelphia and win. If you're somebody
- 19:20Speaker 1: who's buying into that, you have to buy pretty big
- 19:25Speaker 1: time on this defense having some more of these clutch
- 19:31Speaker 1: moments in each of these next few games. You're gonna
- 19:33Speaker 1: need turnovers and you need you're gonna need to go.
- 19:36Speaker 1: I can't believe the defense did that at the end
- 19:38Speaker 1: of the game. Yeah, I don't, and I don't think
- 19:40Speaker 1: it's at all impossible. But I think if if I
- 19:44Speaker 1: think the Vikings can just win a pretty straightforward game
- 19:47Speaker 1: this week, do I think the game will be straightforward?
- 19:50Speaker 1: That is a different question, but I think they could
- 19:52Speaker 1: win a regular straightforward Oh look, we won by eleven
- 19:56Speaker 1: and it was kind of comfortable after halfway through the
- 19:59Speaker 1: third quarter. I could totally see that happening. But after that,
- 20:02Speaker 1: every round after that, I think they're gonna be weird.
- 20:05Speaker 1: Wins doesn't mean they're gonna be deserved it wins, right,
- 20:08Speaker 1: but it's gonna be weird turnover situations, big plays, clutch
- 20:13Speaker 1: clutch defensive plays, some long bombs. It's gonna be It's
- 20:16Speaker 1: gonna get weird. But I think there's something to be
- 20:18Speaker 1: said about a team that's very successfully playing weird football.
- 20:21Speaker 1: I think that I think kind of like you don't
- 20:24Speaker 1: you'll bounces only go your way so often, all this stuff,
- 20:26Speaker 1: and like I think they're they're really motivated United team
- 20:31Speaker 1: and they invite good strange luck. I've said this, you know,
- 20:35Speaker 1: I'm repeating myself a lot on this show now, But
- 20:38Speaker 1: locker rooms are weird places. I you know, I coach basketball.
- 20:41Speaker 1: I've been in locker rooms, and locker rooms start to
- 20:45Speaker 1: believe their own history. And so if you I've seen
- 20:50Speaker 1: teams that they go out and they really come through
- 20:53Speaker 1: and win a couple of games. Right at the end,
- 20:55Speaker 1: they play really well in the last couple of minutes,
- 20:57Speaker 1: and all of a sudden, they just have this mental
- 21:00Speaker 1: like it doesn't it's okay, guys, relax, six minutes to play,
- 21:03Speaker 1: we're down eight. We've done this, we know how to
- 21:05Speaker 1: do this, and they start believing it. The opposite is true,
- 21:09Speaker 1: you know. I think we kind of saw that the
- 21:11Speaker 1: last couple of years, where it's like, oh no, here
- 21:13Speaker 1: we go again. So I don't think you can I
- 21:18Speaker 1: don't know how much you need to value it, but
- 21:20Speaker 1: you certainly can't minimalize a team that has won that
- 21:26Speaker 1: many one score games in that way. Now, if you
- 21:30Speaker 1: go out and you wind up down twenty, like in
- 21:32Speaker 1: some of the blowout losses, you wind up down a
- 21:34Speaker 1: bunch of points early, yeah, they're much you can do
- 21:38Speaker 1: in that situation. I'm not I don't have huge expectations there.
- 21:42Speaker 1: But if if you play good football and you're in games,
- 21:46Speaker 1: this team, I truly believe they have the utmost belief
- 21:51Speaker 1: in themselves. I don't know that they're going to get
- 21:53Speaker 1: into the fourth quarter and it will be their nerves
- 21:56Speaker 1: or their inexperience that will cost them. I agree, And
- 22:00Speaker 1: you know, this is not one of my more popular theories.
- 22:02Speaker 1: But you know, Kirk has gotten a lot of He's
- 22:05Speaker 1: gotten dinged by people at times by saying, oh, he
- 22:07Speaker 1: plays well during garbage time, but whatever. But I've come
- 22:10Speaker 1: to think that I don't think Kirk sees garbage time.
- 22:12Speaker 1: I think he's a true never give up. He's just
- 22:16Speaker 1: so steady and never give up. He that like, he's
- 22:20Speaker 1: like there is no garbage time, and the only difference
- 22:21Speaker 1: between garbage time and a miracle comeback is a slight
- 22:25Speaker 1: twist of the score, you know, a couple of you know,
- 22:27Speaker 1: an onside kick goes this way or that way. So I, yeah,
- 22:31Speaker 1: I do I do think that that. I think he's
- 22:33Speaker 1: a really really impressively steady dude in a strange way.
- 22:39Speaker 1: Who I just I'm kind of I'm more fascinated by
- 22:42Speaker 1: him every year. I kind of I kind of get
- 22:43Speaker 1: a little more into Kirk every year, and I can
- 22:46Speaker 1: see him making strange magic. Our producer Jay we were
- 22:49Speaker 1: talking about the weird ways this game can end. I
- 22:51Speaker 1: just saw one of the comments he put into the
- 22:54Speaker 1: thread that was like, I said, you know the kitten
- 22:57Speaker 1: comeback he goes. He said, the next game will have
- 23:00Speaker 1: kitten come out on the field and he'll have chains on.
- 23:04Speaker 1: That will be amazing. Yeah. The the interesting thing, you know,
- 23:09Speaker 1: there's a lot, a lot is made of Kirk's He's
- 23:13Speaker 1: a big talking point. The one thing that is undeniable,
- 23:18Speaker 1: And I don't know that that all that it means
- 23:21Speaker 1: that that what I'm about to say will hold in
- 23:23Speaker 1: the playoffs because nobody ext Michael Jordan misses shots right,
- 23:26Speaker 1: And I'm certainly not saying Kirk Cousins is Michael Jordan.
- 23:30Speaker 1: Leave me alone, stay out of my DMS. I was
- 23:33Speaker 1: just using a pop culture reference. But what I was
- 23:37Speaker 1: gonna say, it's pretty undeniable that the man can handle
- 23:41Speaker 1: a team in the fourth quarter the last two years.
- 23:44Speaker 1: Say whatever you want about all the years previous, but
- 23:47Speaker 1: you have to get rich. You can't carry that forward.
- 23:49Speaker 1: The last two years game on the line, fourth quarter,
- 23:53Speaker 1: he has succeeded and as a whole, honestly, on both
- 23:58Speaker 1: sides of the ball, clutch moments in the fourth quarter.
- 24:02Speaker 1: This team has succeeded. Interestingly, the defense has kind of
- 24:06Speaker 1: succeeded in quarters one through three. Yeah, you know, the
- 24:11Speaker 1: offense has really succeeded on opening drives and then in
- 24:15Speaker 1: the end of game. So like, we're still floating in
- 24:18Speaker 1: this area where we haven't really been consistent very often
- 24:22Speaker 1: all the way through a game. I would love for
- 24:24Speaker 1: what you're saying to happen what you said earlier, where
- 24:26Speaker 1: it's like, oh man, they like it happened the Giants game,
- 24:32Speaker 1: it all comes together. I'll take a win. I don't
- 24:34Speaker 1: care how we get it, but wouldn't it be sweet
- 24:37Speaker 1: to get the sort of win where it's like, man,
- 24:40Speaker 1: that would we are the better team and they're no
- 24:43Speaker 1: one can question that. That would be That would be sweet.
- 24:46Speaker 1: I'll take a win either way, but that would be sweet.
- 24:49Speaker 1: I'll take the Cat game win, by the way, and
- 24:51Speaker 1: I'll put the chains on the cat, so I'm fine
- 24:53Speaker 1: with weird. I'll put that cat in the Pro Football
- 24:56Speaker 1: Hall of Fame. I'll adopt the cat and raise it.
- 24:59Speaker 1: I'll I'll put it through college. I don't care, give
- 25:02Speaker 1: me the Super Bowl. I don't care how we get
- 25:05Speaker 1: People have said before they're like, people, go, if you
- 25:08Speaker 1: want to. I was rooting for the Packers or the
- 25:11Speaker 1: Lions to get in because I thought, and maybe I'll
- 25:14Speaker 1: be proven wrong, that they had a better chance of
- 25:16Speaker 1: upsetting the Niners. And then then we get a second
- 25:20Speaker 1: home playoff in the second round, and you know, and
- 25:23Speaker 1: I had people say like, you want to be the best,
- 25:26Speaker 1: you got beat the best past I'll beat the best
- 25:30Speaker 1: if that's who I have to beat. But I don't
- 25:32Speaker 1: care who I have to beat. I don't I don't care.
- 25:35Speaker 1: I want the super Bowl. I want, I desperately need
- 25:38Speaker 1: a super Bowl. And I don't think Eli Manning is like, well,
- 25:42Speaker 1: I just really wish in the divisional round we would
- 25:46Speaker 1: have played this team. Then my first super Bowl would
- 25:49Speaker 1: have been more meaningful. That's like Aaron Rodgers against the
- 25:52Speaker 1: Bears and Jay Cutler. When Jay Cutler went out in
- 25:55Speaker 1: that championship game, He's not like, it just doesn't mean
- 25:58Speaker 1: as much. Jay wasn't out there though whole time. I
- 26:03Speaker 1: totally agree. And also it's like it's the playoffs. It's
- 26:07Speaker 1: not you know, this isn't one of those things where
- 26:09Speaker 1: you have like a really weak schedule and you look
- 26:11Speaker 1: back on it and you like played all cupcake teams,
- 26:13Speaker 1: Like there's not really cupcake teams left, and I mean,
- 26:16Speaker 1: I would argue Seattles. The Seattle is the closest thing
- 26:20Speaker 1: to that left in the NFC right now, and they're
- 26:22Speaker 1: still not bad by any stretch. I'm just holding out
- 26:26Speaker 1: hope that that the weirdness that can exist in divisional
- 26:33Speaker 1: matchups like the Vikings. Remember that was the Randy Moss
- 26:37Speaker 1: Moon game. The Vikings needed somebody I believe to lose
- 26:40Speaker 1: to back their way into that game. And then they
- 26:43Speaker 1: went to Lambo, a superior team and didn't beat them,
- 26:48Speaker 1: thumped them. So there is some offensive firepower on the
- 26:53Speaker 1: Seahawks team. You know, they are a rallied team. So yeah,
- 26:58Speaker 1: I'm I'm hoping for that. I'm hope being that they
- 27:00Speaker 1: go in there and something weird happens and we can
- 27:03Speaker 1: beat the Giants and we get the Seahawks round two.
- 27:07Speaker 1: That's very pipe dreamy of me, But I think we
- 27:09Speaker 1: just need to We're very ahead of ourselves. We just
- 27:12Speaker 1: need to focus on this weekend. Brian Dayball's a hell
- 27:15Speaker 1: of a coach. Uh Sequon Barkley is very good. I
- 27:18Speaker 1: think with our all line out you know their d line, Cavon, Thibadeau,
- 27:22Speaker 1: all these guys. It's gonna be a it's gonna be
- 27:24Speaker 1: a really, really hard game. I hate to put you
- 27:26Speaker 1: on the spot, but we do it every week. I'm
- 27:28Speaker 1: gonna make you do a prediction for the game. Normally
- 27:31Speaker 1: this is more fun because we're doing opposing predictions. Sure,
- 27:35Speaker 1: but we'll both make a prediction for the game. What
- 27:37Speaker 1: do you what do you think the score is gonna be?
- 27:40Speaker 1: Vikings seventeen twenty eight. Ooh, that was very firm. That
- 27:44Speaker 1: was very direct, so Viking seen. Yeah, Okay, I like that.
- 27:49Speaker 1: I'm gonna go. I think I'm gonna go Giants ten uh,
- 27:55Speaker 1: Vikings one hundred and eighty five. Brian, I sure care
- 28:00Speaker 1: about you a lot. I love you, buddy. Thank you
- 28:02Speaker 1: for doing the show and hopefully I will be texting
- 28:07Speaker 1: you throughout the playoffs and not just in this one game.
- 28:11Speaker 1: I hope it keeps going. Thank you, buddy, and I
- 28:12Speaker 1: will watch to the end of this game. Guy. Started
- 28:15Speaker 1: appreciate you man, Yes, lady, dude. Thank you guys for
