- 0:12We thank you God for salvation. We thank you God for the church.
- 0:16We thank you God for life and the abundant life.
- 0:20God, I pray you fill us up. Fill us overflowing with the
- 0:23Holy Spirit. God, help us to see you high and
- 0:26lifted up. Help us to see you correctly
- 0:29above over every single principality, over all rulers
- 0:33and dominions. God, you are high and lifted up.
- 0:37You are the most high. God El Elyon, we love you.
- 0:41Father, I thank you God for the Holy Spirit.
- 0:44I thank you God, for the cross of Christ.
- 0:47I thank you, God, for saving us. Lord, save more.
- 0:50Bring more, many more in. Father, I pray that you'll
- 0:55buying the enemy, rebuke the enemy, Father, in Jesus name
- 0:59from off of us. Lord, heal our broken bodies,
- 1:02heal. Marriage is God.
- 1:04I pray that fathers will return back to their home, that
- 1:07mothers, God will be tender and children will be obedient.
- 1:11Father, I pray that you'll continue to move us into greater
- 1:17measures of your love and mercy. Lord, you are worthy to be
- 1:20praised. It's all about you.
- 1:22King Jesus, it's always been about you.
- 1:25Hide me and hide my words. Hide my thoughts.
- 1:29I decrease as you increase. King Jesus, come and get your
- 1:32glory. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
- 1:36Let's start in verse one. And it came to pass that when
- 1:41Isaac was old and his eyes were dim so that he could not see, he
- 1:45called. He saw his eldest son and said
- 1:47to him, My son. And he said to him, Behold, here
- 1:51I am. So here we're going to see how
- 1:54God had told Rebecca when she was inquiring of him of what
- 1:59kind of war was going on inside of her womb.
- 2:02And he said there were two nations that were warring inside
- 2:05of her womb and that the oldest would serve the youngest.
- 2:09And we're going to see here how it all plays out for in verse 2.
- 2:13And he said, behold, now I am old.
- 2:15I know not the day of my death. And that's the thing you need to
- 2:19know is that 10 people out of 10 die, Friends, we're all going to
- 2:23have to die. And then it is appointed for us
- 2:27to meet our Maker. Make sure you live every single
- 2:31day ready to meet your Maker. Do not let it catch you off
- 2:35guard. Do not wait for a more expedient
- 2:38time to serve him, to worship him.
- 2:41Today is the day of salvation. Friends, Verse 3.
- 2:45Now, therefore, take, I pray you, your weapons, your quiver,
- 2:49your bow, and go out into the field.
- 2:51Take me some venison. So here you can see that Esau
- 2:56has learned how to cook. He's no longer relying on old
- 3:01Jacob for his Stew. For and make me savory meat such
- 3:06as I love, and bring it to me that I may eat, that my soul may
- 3:10bless you before I die. So we remember that Esau the
- 3:15hunter was Isaac's favorite, and that Jacob is Rebecca's
- 3:23favorite. 5 And Rebecca heard when Isaac spoke to Esau his
- 3:28son, and Esau went to the field to hunt for venison and to bring
- 3:32it. 6 And Rebecca spoke to Jacob her son, saying, Behold, I heard
- 3:36your father speak to Esau, your brother, saying, 7 Bring me
- 3:40venison, and make me savory meat, and I may eat it and bless
- 3:44you before the Lord, before my death.
- 3:46So here, this is nonsensical, this, this was not needed and
- 3:49they were not trusting God. God had already told him how it
- 3:53would be and he already knows the beginning from the end and
- 3:56the end from the beginning. And they're moving within their
- 3:58own flesh. They're moving within their own
- 4:01understanding and it's going to cost them dearly, friends. 8 Now
- 4:11therefore, my son, obey my voice according to that which I
- 4:15command you. 9 Go now to the flock, and fetch me two good
- 4:19kids of the goats, and I will make them savory meat for your
- 4:23father, such as he loves. 10 And you shall bring it to your
- 4:27father, that he may eat it, and that he may bless you before his
- 4:30death. So here Rebecca is plotting this
- 4:34plan and telling old Jacob to go and to deceive his father and
- 4:41look at him living up to his namesake, the heel catcher, the
- 4:46deceiver. And that is the nation that we
- 4:49see today that has sprung up. And all of this is in the
- 4:53context. It all makes sense of why Israel
- 4:57gets such a bad rap even today, and why we see that nation that
- 5:02is so incredibly prosperous in the hand of God is on it.
- 5:06And he put them there in that land.
- 5:08But you can see that they are still very much living in sin,
- 5:13just in the same way here that Jacob is sinning.
- 5:16And isn't God so incredibly rich in the tapestry of His love, of
- 5:21how he covers over our sins and His purposes remain even in the
- 5:28things that we do that are wrong?
- 5:30And this is how God operates. He operates within His own
- 5:35promises, and that is the power of our God.
- 5:38He told them how it would be that the older would serve the
- 5:42younger. And here you see them moving in
- 5:45their flesh. And God is still going to get
- 5:48the desires of his heart, and we can't mess it up if we tried.
- 5:57Tan, and you shall bring it to your father, that he may eat,
- 6:00and that he may bless you before his death. 11 And Jacob said to
- 6:04Rebecca, his mother, Behold, Esau my brother is a hairy man,
- 6:07and I'm a smooth man. So here within the world and how
- 6:12the world operates in the culture, we would say that Esau
- 6:16was the manly man. And we see here that Jacob is a
- 6:22smooth skinned man. He was a mama's boy.
- 6:29Five. My father, peradventure will
- 6:32feel me, and I shall seem to him a deceiver, and I shall bring a
- 6:36curse upon me, and not a blessing.
- 6:38So he was worried that his father would curse him instead
- 6:42of blessing him. And we see from Adam, whenever
- 6:46God announced that there would come out of the genealogy of
- 6:51Adam someone to crush Satan's head.
- 6:54We see here this is passed down and down and down through the
- 6:58genealogy. And here you could see that that
- 7:02is why Jacob wanted the birthright and that is why he's
- 7:06wanting this blessing, because they know within the promises of
- 7:11God what is to come. And it was not missed on them as
- 7:16much as it is missed on us. 13 His mother said unto him unto
- 7:23me, Be the curse, my son, Just obey my voice, Go and fetch them
- 7:28for me. 14 And he went, and he fetched and brought them to his
- 7:32mother. And they made a savory meat,
- 7:35such as the father love. 15 And Rebecca took goodly clothing of
- 7:39her oldest son Esau, which were with her in the house, and put
- 7:43them upon Jacob, her younger son. 16 And he put the skins of
- 7:47the kids of the goats upon his hands, and upon the smooth of
- 7:51his neck. 17 And she gave the savoury meat and the bread in
- 7:55which she had prepared to the hand of her son Jacob. 18 And he
- 7:59came to his father and said, My father.
- 8:02And he said, Here I am, Who are you, my son?
- 8:05So his voice gave him away, and so he's wanting to know, Who are
- 8:10you? You sound like Jacob. 19 And
- 8:17Jacob said to his father, I'm Esau, your first born.
- 8:22I have done according as you have bade me arise.
- 8:26I pray sit and eat of my venison, that your soul may
- 8:30bless me. He's saying, Give me the
- 8:32blessing, Sit up and eat and hear.
- 8:37Isaac is pondering within his own mind, What is this all
- 8:41about? 20 And Isaac said unto his son,
- 8:46How is it that you have found it so quickly, my son?
- 8:49He said, Because the Lord your God brought it to me.
- 8:52Look at this deception. Not only is he wearing the hair
- 8:56on his hands and on his neck, but he's also deceiving him by
- 9:00telling his father that he's Esau and that he brings God into
- 9:04the equation and said that God gave him a quick hunt and that
- 9:09is why he's back so fast. 21 And Isaac said to Jacob, Come near,
- 9:18I pray you, that I may feel you, my son, whether you be my very
- 9:22son Esau or not. 22 And Jacob went near unto Isaac his father,
- 9:30and felt him, and said, The voice is Jacob's voice, but the
- 9:33hands are the hands of Esau. So here you can see that his
- 9:38father did not realize that he was being deceived. 23 And he
- 9:45discerned him not because his hands were hairy as his brother
- 9:48Esau's hands. So he blessed him.
- 9:50So you can see here that this deception is actually working.
- 9:5524 And he said, Are you my very son Esau?
- 9:59And he said, I am 25, And he said, bring it near to me, and I
- 10:03will eat of my son's venison, that my soul may bless you.
- 10:07And he brought it near to him that he did eat, and he brought
- 10:11him wine and he drank. So this deception runs deep.
- 10:15And you can see that he was already promised to be the heir,
- 10:20and he was already promised that the older would serve the
- 10:23younger. And now they're moving within
- 10:26their own strength. And This is why we see such
- 10:30frustration when we try to manufacture the things of God.
- 10:35The promises of God are yes and Amen to the Saint.
- 10:39If you're operating within God's will for your life, you need to
- 10:43know that He is already moving on your account, even whenever
- 10:48you're still stuck in the jail cell, as John the Baptist was.
- 10:53We do not need to be offended by his inactivity, friends.
- 10:57The greatest work of God is done in the waiting. 26 and his
- 11:05father Isaac said to him, Come near now and kiss me, my son.
- 11:10So here he's doing the smell test, he's already done the
- 11:14field test, and now he's wanting to know, Are you truly him?
- 11:1927 And he came near and kissed him, and he smelled the smell of
- 11:22his clothing, and he blessed him.
- 11:24And he said, see the smell, my son, is the smell of a field
- 11:28which the Lord has blessed in here.
- 11:30He's going to wax eloquently. He's going to flow.
- 11:34He's going to bless him with all of the mighty power of God upon
- 11:39him, and we still see this blessing upon Israel today. 38
- 11:44or 28 Therefore, God give you the dew of heaven and the
- 11:49fatness of the earth, and plenty of corn and wine.
- 11:53Then we know that whenever all of the people came back into the
- 11:58land, when the Jews came back into the land there in 1948, it
- 12:04is one of the most profitable agricultural places on planet
- 12:10earth. You can see these desert regions
- 12:13turned back into very lush environments.
- 12:17And this is the fatness of the corn and the wine. 29 Let people
- 12:21serve you and nations bow down to you.
- 12:24Be Lord over your brothers, and let your mother's sons bow down
- 12:29to you. Cursed be everyone that curses
- 12:32you, and blessed be He that blesses you.
- 12:35Anyone who blesses Israel will be blessed, and anyone who
- 12:38curses Israel will be cursed. That is matter of factual.
- 12:43That is period. And there is no wiggling out of
- 12:46it, friends. That is the actual fact of the
- 12:50matter. And you will be blessed if you
- 12:53bless them, and you will be cursed if you curse them.
- 12:56And that is settled and there is no debate about it.
- 13:00It is not open for any kind of debate.
- 13:03God said it, and we believe it, and that settles it. 30 And it
- 13:08came to pass as soon as Isaac had made an end of blessing
- 13:12Jacob, and Jacob was yet scarce gone out of the presence of
- 13:16Isaac his father, that he saw his brother came in from his
- 13:19hunting. 31 And he also had made savory meat, and brought it unto
- 13:24his father, and said to his father, Let my father arise in
- 13:28need of his sons venison, that your soul may bless me. 32 And
- 13:32Isaac his father said to him, Who are you?
- 13:36And he said, I am your son, the first born Esau.
- 13:41He's saying I'm your favorite, Bless me, daddy. 33 And Isaac
- 13:47trembled very exceedingly and said, Who?
- 13:52Where is he that has taken venison and brought it me?
- 13:57And I have eaten of all before you came?
- 14:01And I have blessed him, and yeah, he shall be blessed.
- 14:05So even in Isaac's favoritism of his boy Esau, God still got the
- 14:16upper hand. Perhaps Esau was going to be
- 14:21blessed by his father and receive all of those blessings.
- 14:26But we see that the Edomites have gone by the wayside, and
- 14:29the Israelites are still mainstream today.
- 14:33Friends, what a thought. 34 And when Esau heard the words of his
- 14:42father, he cried with the great and exceeding bitter cry.
- 14:46And he said unto his father, Bless me, even me also, oh, my
- 14:51father. So here is Esau's unavailing
- 14:55remorse. And he is not a spiritual man.
- 14:59He cares nothing for the birthright, he cares nothing for
- 15:02the spirituality. It is not that he is actually
- 15:06remorseful, friends. He just wanted the upper hand.
- 15:1335 And he said, Your brother came with subtlety and has taken
- 15:17away your blessing. 36 And he said, is not he rightly named
- 15:22Jacob? For he has supplanted me these
- 15:26two times. He took away my birthright, and
- 15:29behold, now he has taken away my blessing.
- 15:32And he said, has you not reserved a blessing for me?
- 15:38Here we can see that the cry of Esau amounts to absolutely
- 15:43nothing that God had already predestined.
- 15:46He had already elected Jacob as the one who would go on to
- 15:54establish the Jews, and they're still here today.
- 15:59I pray that you pray for them. Pray for the peace of Jerusalem.
- 16:05He says, Have you no blessing for me?
- 16:0837 And Isaac answered and said unto Esau, Behold, I have made
- 16:13him your Lord, and all his brothers have I given to him for
- 16:17servants, and with corn and wine I have a sustained him.
- 16:21And what shall I do now unto you, my Son?
- 16:26So we see that all those promises are yes and Amen in
- 16:30Christ Jesus. And He's moving everything along
- 16:33according to the timeline, friends, in the prophecy.
- 16:37And God's not done with Israel. God's not done with the nation
- 16:42of Israel. And the Jews, friends, He has
- 16:45sustained them. He has brought them in, friends,
- 16:49and they must come in through the Messiah.
- 16:51But the Messiah came through them, and they are the natural,
- 16:55and we are just the wild. 38 And Esau said unto his father, Have
- 17:02you but one blessing, my Father, bless me, even me also, O my
- 17:06Father. And Esau lifted up his voice and
- 17:09wept. So you could see here, friends,
- 17:16that this is emotional, but the things of God are set and final
- 17:21and rock solid. And we do not approach God out
- 17:25of emotion, friends. We approach God with the surety,
- 17:29with the finality of what his Word says.
- 17:33And every single word is yes and Amen in Christ Jesus. 39 And
- 17:39Isaac his father answered and said to him, Behold, your
- 17:44dwelling shall be the fatness of the earth and of the dew of
- 17:48heaven from above. 40 And by your sword shall you live, and
- 17:53shall serve your brother, And it shall come to pass, when you
- 17:57shall have the dominion, that you shall break his yoke from
- 18:00off your neck. This is the nation of the
- 18:04Edomite's friends. And you can see here that they
- 18:09were in Petra, And you can see here that they were overtaken.
- 18:13And you can see here that finally God's Word prevails.
- 18:19And here Isaac is trying to give him some kind of blessing of
- 18:24some kind of military might. But in the end Jacob will have
- 18:28the upper hand. 41 And Esau hated Jacob because of the
- 18:33blessing where with his father blessed him.
- 18:36And Esau said in his heart, the days of mourning for my father
- 18:40at hand, and I will slay my brother Jacob.
- 18:43So he has a murderous heart. And he says, as soon as daddy
- 18:48dies, this brother of mine is done and finished and cooked. 42
- 18:57In the words of Esau, her elder son were told to Rebecca, and
- 19:02she sent and called Jacob her younger son, and said to him,
- 19:06Behold, your brother Esau, as touching you, does comfort
- 19:09himself, purposing to kill you. That is how he was comforted,
- 19:14because he was premeditated in the murder of his brother, just
- 19:19as Cain did to Abel. 43 Now therefore, my son, obey my
- 19:26voice, arise and flee to Laban, my brother to Haran.
- 19:31So here we can see that God's purposes are all going to come
- 19:36to fruition, and here this little trickster is going to be
- 19:41taught a lesson by Laban, the master of deception and striking
- 19:48deals. And it's all working out
- 19:50according to God's infinite wisdom and plan. 44 And tarry
- 19:59with him a few days until your brother's fury turn away.
- 20:03So she thought it was only going to be a few days, but this will
- 20:06be the last time that she ever sees her son. 45 Until your
- 20:13brother's anger turn away from you and he forget that which you
- 20:18have done to him, then I will send and fetch you from there.
- 20:22Why should I be deprived also of you both in one day?
- 20:26So she doesn't want to lose her husband and her son on the same
- 20:30day and then be trapped there with the madman Esau.
- 20:33And here you could see she's having to pay for her sins of
- 20:41outpacing God and thinking that she needed to secure something
- 20:44that God had already said would happen.
- 20:49We'll end on 46. And Rebecca said to Isaac, I'm
- 20:52weary of my life because of the daughters of hath.
- 20:55If Jacob take a wife of the daughters of hath such as these,
- 20:59which are of the daughters of the land, what good shall my
- 21:03life do me? She's trying to manipulate Isaac
- 21:07and saying we need to send Jacob off to to his uncle Laban
- 21:14because there he can find a wife for himself.
- 21:17They've already seen that Esau has taken wives for himself from
- 21:22the Philistines and they did not want that with the pollution of
- 21:26the messianic bloodline. What an amazing chapter this is
- 21:29in God's word. I pray that you've been blessed
- 21:32by it. I know I sure have.
- 21:34I'm praying for every single one of you.
- 21:38Get your nose in the book. Don't slack off.
- 21:42Don't slack up. If you get to a section and you
- 21:45don't understand it, just keep pushing, friends.
- 21:49The Holy Spirit will reveal to you truth, and it might be the
- 21:526th or the 7th, the 8th, the 9th, the 10th or the 12th.
- 21:56Time before that Scripture comes alive and quickens within the
- 22:01inner man and it's see you see it fresh and new for the first
- 22:05time, even though you've read it 100 times.
- 22:08That's the way the Word of God works.
- 22:10I pray that you are blessed. I pray that you are loved.
- 22:17I pray that you are joyful. I love you.
- 22:23God loves you. We'll see you back here
- 22:25tomorrow. God bless you.
