- Mark: Hey Jack, how you doing mate? Jack: Yeah, good man. How are you? Mark: Yeah, good, not bad, not bad for a Wednesday evening. Hey, Jack: Very nice. Mark: quick question before we kick off. If you could make five hundred thousand dollars but every time you sneezed for the rest of your life you shit yourself as well, would you take the money? Jack: Ooh. Yes. Yes I would. Yeah. Yeah. Small price to pay. Mark: You would? Yeah, I think I would too. Yeah. I was I was gonna ask y Yeah it is, isn't it? Especially what happens when you get a cold though? You just sit on the toilet for for a couple of days? Yeah. I actually thought you were gonna s Jack: Yeah, exactly. Yeah. Get the roids out while you're there. Mark: I actually thought you were gonna say no and then I was gonna ask you what volume of money would you take to shit yourself every time? You sneezed. Jack: Okay. Five hundred thousand is lot of money. I'm happy with that. Mark: Yeah, it is. Yeah. I mean I don't sneeze all that often, but what if you're in a on the bus or on the train? Or even in a plane. Jack: Well, bug a lot, Babel. It's bad to get messy. Mark: All right, now we've got our shit story out of the way. Welcome back to Fairweather Friday. This is episode four. I'm Mark. That is Jack. how do you think we're going at the moment? Jack: pretty well. I reckon episode three was our best. Mark: Yeah. Jack: yeah, I liked it, got some good feedback from it, so yeah. Mark: Yeah, I I think so too. I think we're getting we're getting better each episode. Yeah. before we Jack: Hm. I hope so. If we're getting worse, then Jesus. Mark: that is true, that is true. Before we start, I just want to give a big shout out to Nate. he was the first person to comment on the podcast. he contacted me and gave me some feedback on the comeback story. He suggested that we look at the twenty seventeen Super Bowl between the Al Atlanta Falcons and the New England Patriots. basically in this I'll show a video in a second, but basically Atlanta were leading twenty eight to three at the third quarter. Tom Ba Tom Brady and the Patriots came back to win thirty four to twenty eight. So basically Jack: yeah. Mark: thirty one unanswered points within a quarter. So this is one element of it. Edelman took a catch, Brady takes a th does a throw and he takes the catch. I don't know how he hung on to this, but I thought this was the you needed to see this. So it gets intercepted, Jack: Ha ha. Mark: he catches it, drops it, recovers it, and manages to hold onto it. Jack: yeah. Mark: This is insane. Catches it, loses it, catches it again. Jack: What a play. Mark: How's that for a catch? Jack: Under pressure too. Yeah, good. Mark: Under pressure, it got intercepted. He was running away from it. It got intercepted. He manages to pivot, turn, get back on the ball, catch it, drop it, recovers it. I don't know how. Jack: before it hits the ground. Incredible. Mark: That's it. I think he's got sticky fingers. Jack: Got sticky something. Mark: So yeah, look that that was awesome. Thanks for that one, Nate. as a as a reward, we will send you one of our F two F hats once we get them. we are looking at ordering them in the next little bit. I'll send you an image as well of what they're looking like. So yeah, mate, just get in contact with us, let us know your address and we'll shoot that over to you once they come in. have we started a fan club now? Is Nate the founding member of the F2F fan club? Jack: He may well be. Mark: Do we need a name for the fam club or do we let them decide on how they actually organise themselves? Jack: Huh, it could be dangerous, but I reckon we let them decide. Mark: Well let's see what names I can come up with. I it's not our fan club. I it's a fan club for us but it's not ours, so Jack: Yeah it. Well I reckon let them name it. Mark: I think so too, yeah. before we move on, I think there was something you wanted to mention in there. Jack: Yeah, so it was brought to my attention from one of our listeners that Mark: this is dangerous. Jack: we may have to start a new segment called Off the Mark and pun intended as well. Mark: Yeah. Ooh. Okay, yeah, keep going. Jack: He has picked some holes in your stories. Mark: Which ones? Jack: so the the comeback stories. Mark: Yeah. Jack: you said Alfie Langer returned from retirement to win the origin. Mark: It was the he was at the super league. Yes. I yep. Yep. Jack: He was in the Super League, so he didn't actually return from retirement. So do your research better, mate. Mark: Look, it was a long time ago. I'm I'm stupid. Hey, you didn't correct me either. You didn't correct me either. Jack: I'm disappointed to be honest, but I was gonna let you get away. I was gonna let you get away with it, but you know, he's pointed it out, so now I have to point it out. Mark: well he's telling he's an asshole. Jack: he knows, don't worry. There's also one more. Mark: Yes, okay. Jack: so the whole Lucky Neal punch an old mate before the in the pre limb final. apparently you said you punched him in the head, but he only punched him in Mark: I can't remember what I said. Jack: the gut, so Mark: all right. All right, I'll take that one. I don't remember what I said now, but yeah, okay, fair enough. Jack: If if there's one thing I can guarantee about this particular listener is that he will have it right. So Mark: look, I reckon he's going through there going through everything we say and just taking it with a fine tooth comb, is he? Yeah. All Jack: A thousand percent. Yeah. Mark: right. That's fair. That's fair, I'll take it. Look, hey, look up as I said, he must have missed our first episode where I said, We're not professionals. We're Jack: Yeah. Mark: doing this for a bit of fun. But correct me if I'm wrong, hey, like fine, go for it. I'm happy with that. Jack: He's probably the single most competitive person I know, so he's gonna pick holes at us. See how he goes. Mark: Perfect. I love it. He needs we need to get him on the show then. I love it. I do like that segment off the mark. Anything I say, Jack: Mm. Yeah, I'm on it. Mark: yeah, look anything I say if we're off the mark. Let's let's get it on the show. Jack: Yeah, let's stop. Mark: Happy for it. look also with that, the the I do have a few corrections as well, Jack: Mm-hmm. Mark: that were passed on to me from your niece. And there's another one as well, but I'll I'll get to that one first. But yeah, look, I think I think that we don't need to issue a formal apology to her. I think she's talking a bit of shit here. but she did wanna she do want me to correct on some things. I did say she's doing the Sunny Coast triathlon next year. It's actually the Sunny Coast Iron Man. So I'm still Jack: Okay. Mark: proud of her for doing it. Like don't get me wrong, this is a lot. She Jack: Yeah, a hundred percent. Yeah. Mark: wasn't she wasn't okay with us calling her insane, which is completely fine. That's that's okay. I mean, if you're going to do all these things you probably are a little bit insane, but Jack: Just a little bit, yeah. Mark: yes. But look, on the good note for that is she did actually listen to our podcast, which she said she was gonna do, and she finally did, and then I got in trouble for it. Jack: Finally. Did she listen to all of or just the one episode though? Mark: I don't know. I I couldn't tell you, she didn't say. Jack: I think we need to find that out. Mark: 'cause I I mentioned last week that she was going she was puffed after climbing a few stairs. She did send Jack: Okay. Mark: me a video today. The video was a minute and a half long and it was her walking down the stairs, not up the stairs. So Jack: Mm. Mark: if she was walking up them last week, why is she walking down them this week? Hmm. So must look if she's getting puffed from walking downstairs, that's even worse. Jack: Yeah. She's she's got a problem. She's on the back foot. Mark: Exactly. I'm gonna get in trouble again for this one, if she listens. But anyway. Jack: Yeah, I guess we'll find out. Mark: Yes, that's right. The other thing I need to apologise for is my offensive attempt at an English accent last week when we're talking about the farting in your general direction. Jack: Yep. Mark: what did you give me out of ten for my accent? Jack: Honestly, I didn't even know you did an accent. That's how good it was. Mark: look it was pretty shit, I'll give it that. I did listen back to that w when I was editing the video and it was terrible. but I thought fuck it, let's leave it in. It's always a bit of fun. Jack: Never apologize for that. Mark: look, I'm not going to because let's face it, it's the entire population of England that I offended. but England's never apologised to anyone for all of the ornaments that they've stolen from everywhere else. and all the countries they've also invaded, so Jack: They didn't steal them, they acquired them. Mark: permanently acquired and put them in museum. Jack: Yeah. Yeah, look what we created. Mark: Exactly. Perfect day. So I'm not gonna apologise to England for anything. Jack: No. I think I need to get a a photo of Johnny Bearsto walking out of the crease and hanging up here. Just in case you get some English fans on. Mark: look if we get South African fans, I'm sure they'll send in some sandpaper for us. Duh. That's it. Jack: No, a hundred percent. Yep. I expect it to Mark: the girl for it. once again I don't have too many questions for that are about us. We I'll get back to those. But a question for you. You're at Augusta with Tiger Woods, but every bad shot gets played on TV. Are you still playing? Yeah, me too. Yeah, yeah. I would. Jack: yeah, a hundred percent. Who isn't? Mark: Every shot's gonna be a bad shot if you're at Augusta and you're playing with Tiger Jack: Every shot. Mark: Woods. Let's face it. that actually brings me I think we did talk about this in the first one. I would love Live two point which we'll talk about a minute, and the PGA to actually put some amateurs in there. I know we talked about this, you know, anyone with a over a fifteen handicap goes around and plays around. that'd be awesome. Jack: Yeah. Mark: yeah. Next question, you get a hole in one. sorry, I get a hole in one, but you take all the credit. What do I do? Or vice versa. I get a hole in you get a hole in one, I take all the credit. Is that okay? Jack: Well, I think if you get a hole in one and I take the credit, you do nothing 'cause you're a little bitch. Mark: Ha ha ha. Jack: So there's that. But why would I take the credit for your goal shot? Mark: Alright, we'll have to it's probably the only good golf shot I've had. Look, it probably would be too. Yeah, that look, Jack: Yeah, true. It's probably an Ambrose comp. Yeah. Mark: that'd be exactly where you'd take the credit I've got a hole in one. You fuck off. I did. Jack: Mm-hmm. Yeah, bullshit. Mark: Exactly. One round with only three clubs. Which clubs are you taking? Jack: I reckon this is an easy one for me. driver, pitching wedge and putter. That's all I need. Mark: I'm gonna change that. I'm gonna go three hybrid. Seven iron and putter. And my seven iron will get me out of any trouble. My three Jack: yeah. Yep. Yeah. Mark: three hybrid will get me down the fairway just as far as, you know, what, two hundred and twenty, two hundred forty meters anyway, if it goes straight. But if it doesn't go straight, my seven get me out of trouble. Easy. Exactly. Just can't get out of Jack: You can still chip with a seven nine as well, so yeah, makes sense. Mark: a the only thing is I did think about this earlier, I just can't get out of a bunker. Would Jack: Yeah, yeah. Mark: struggle to do that, but look if I'm hitting with my seven iron, I'm probably not getting in many bunkers anyway. Jack: Look, let's be honest, you struggle to get out of bunkers on a good day, so I don't think the club's gonna make a difference. Yeah, exactly. Mark: With with a sandwich. all right, Jack, you get your PGA tour card, but I have to be your caddy. How long until you either punch on or you sack me? Not that you can sack me, but how long until you want to? Jack: shit. I reckon we pull up to the first golf course. I'll just sack you then. Get out. Mark: All right. Well in that case, 'cause you can't sack me, I'm gonna give you the wrong club each time. Jack: I reckon we'd go alright, actually. Hmm. Mark: Look, I reckon we would too. I I think I think I know your game well enough to know how far you're hitting things and and where to hit too. So I think that I think we'd Jack: Yeah. Mark: go all right. Jack: And as much as we give each other shit, we still want the other person to succeed, right? So Yeah. Mark: Yeah, exactly. Yeah. So I think I'd do you I'd do you justice out there. Yeah. Jack: Yeah, I reckon you would. Mark: Until you piss me off and then I'd tell you to aim left at the cup instead of right. Jack: And it would still go wherever the hell it goes. Mark: Exactly. All right, I did send you this earlier and I didn't give you any context about it, but basically as we know Live Golf is filed for bankruptcy and is attempting to relaunch under a new model called Live two point z. They couldn't come up with a better name, so Live Two point Jack: Yeah, right. Mark: In lieu of that, the DP World Tour CEO, Guy Kennings, has just delivered a massive ultimatum or a thumbs, you know, the middle finger to all Live Jack: Mm-hmm. Mark: Golf players out of the twenty twenty seven season. Basically, he says if you choose to play for Live Golf two point zero, you will not be welcome on the World Tour. the DP World Tour. You can't play both anymore. Jack: Yeah, right. Interesting. Mark: So what this means for a lot of the players at the moment, well when I say a lot, there's probably more that are coming out, but I've only heard about a few of them at the moment. the likes of John Rahm, Tyrrell Hatton, Tom McKibben, Bryson, DeChambeau, Sergio, and David Pugh. obviously Rahm, Garcia, and Pugh. already looking at leaving live golf, at the end of the season. But anyway, basically what it means for them is they can't play in any rider cups for the European team or the American team. and that's probably a big one for a lot of these players as well, like Tyrrell Hart and John Ram and Bryson as well and and a lot of the other guys that are on on Live at the moment that are being able to be played. so yeah, I think their deadline is sometime in November, before they have to declare their intentions of playing for the PGA or Liv for next year. So I think we could see a bit of an exodus here from Liv if they do manage to get off the ground at Liv two point I think a lot of these big players who love the Ryder Cup and love, you know, the majors and all that sort of stuff, they may not end up playing there anymore. Jack: Yeah, well, you know, where does that leave the mages as well, 'cause you gotta have a certain amount of points to get into the mages, so Mark: Mm. Jack: I don't know, I think it's just time we buried Live and just go back to PGA, you know. Mark: Yep. Hmm. Jack: there's gonna be a handful of guys that aren't good enough anymore to get a PGA card, so yeah, I can s sort of understand what they wanna do, but I don't know. I think we just need to move on from the whole Live saga. It was fun while it lasted, but Yeah, let's just bury it. Mark: Yeah, look, maybe there's something else they can do. Obviously Tiger started that T GL, where they played inside that that big arena and stuff like that. So maybe there's something else these guys can do, on the side as well outside of the regular season for the PGA if they want to keep going with something like that. yeah, I mean like at the same time, the likes of Rahm and Dishinbeau and even Kami Smith, you know, they've made their millions just on signing, whether they got paid at all or not. Would they Jack: Yeah, that's right. Mark: Do you think some of would just walk away or would they want to keep their their shot at the right cup and everything like that? Jack: it's a tough one, isn't it? I think DeChambeau is probably still committed. Cam Mark: Yeah. Jack: Smith I'm not too sure on. Mark: Well he just had a baby, I think it was late last year, early this year as well, so Jack: Yeah, right. Mark: yeah. Jack: Yeah, look, I don't know. It's it's a tough one, isn't Like Tyrrell Hatton's still playing good golf. DeShambe's Mark: Mm. Jack: still playing good golf. Cam Smith's fallen way off. But we know he can play good golf. He's a major Mark: Yeah. Jack: winner, right? So yeah, it's a tough one 'cause they've still only got those handful of stars in Live. the rest are sort of no names. But yeah, it's a tough one. Mark: Yeah. It is, yeah. I wanna I'll I'll be interested to see what happens here. I think this the D P World tour CEO is coming out and saying this is probably gonna stir on the P GA tour themselves to actually probably announce something as well similar. we'll probably hear that in probably the next few weeks, I'd almost imagine. So but yeah, we'll wait and see, I suppose. Jack: Maybe it's yeah, their hard line coming out and saying, No, this is it, you do this or you're gone. maybe it's their way of trying to kill Liv as well. Mark: Potentially. Potentially. Alright, the locker room. There's not much here to talk about this week. I don't even know if we should do it. Jack: Yeah, look, just probably the biggest race in the the country, but yeah, we can skim over that, it's no issue. Yeah, for a long time. Mark: Yeah, who who cares? Cars drove around a track. That's it. All right, mate, I'll let you kick on with this one. Jack: Alrighty, so I'll try and keep it somewhat in the days that followed, but it's gonna be tough I tell ya. So I believe it was Friday qualifying or even Saturday qualifying could have been, but Zach Bates got the fastest ever lap in a Gen three car in the top ten shootout at a two three point nine three eight, which is lightning fast. and Mark: Man, that's quick. That is a Jack: yeah, he's he's not Essentially a rookie, sort of still is, but isn't. with a a low down the order team as well. So they had that car flying. locked off Brody Kastecki, who was going for his fourth pole position there in a row, so just a absolutely lightning fast lap. so yeah, a top ten shootout was I don't know, in my opinion this one is pretty boring. I I felt like people sort of held back a little bit. They didn't want to crash their cars on the shootout, which is a bit disappointing, but Mark: Probably fair enough, I suppose, you know, you're you're you're not even you're not even at the race day yet. Jack: Yeah, that's right, yeah. Mark: So Jack: I understand, but yeah, top ten shootouts exciting, right? Yeah. Mark: It's meant to be, yeah. Jack: Meant to be, yeah. and then yeah, we got to the race, which I think it was the fastest ever in Bethesda's history 'cause there's only one safety car for maybe one lap at the very end of the race. so they literally just ran around in circles all day just doing their thing. But it was also good. It created a bit of intensity because the speeds are so fast. There's still a lot of fuel saving, but the pit stops Mark: Well Jack: really made a difference. Mark: well, there was a bit of fuel saving, wasn't there? Jack: Well there was and remind me to circle back to it at the end 'cause I I saw something today. But poor old Anton and Lee Hullsworth running out of fuel in the very last lap. Mark: Go got a question for you, 'cause I've I've got a feeling that team A team did this before as well, did they not? They ran out w Yeah, I thought so. Yep. Jack: This is the second time they've done it, yep. So But I do believe Triple Eight have done it I know they've done it at least once. I'm pretty sure they've done it twice. Mark: Yep. Mm-hmm. Jack: So they're the top team, right? Mark: Man, it just goes to show how much they're scraping the the barrel Jack: Yes. Mark: essentially to get around this track as fast as they can. Obviously they don't want to stop to fill up or even put a couple of leaders back in just to get around that last lap. They want to end the race with literally nothing to make sure they're maintaining their speed the whole way, hey. It's insane. Jack: Yeah. Well this is the weird part about it, right, is that they had a fourteen second lead at their last pit Mark: Mm. They did, didn't they? Jack: stop. So they put one or two seconds worth of more fuel in the car and they make it home easy. So Mark: Yeah. Yep. Jack: but I did see today that Team A Gene have done the investigation, they've released a statement saying that the software that they use to pump the fuel into the car, because they run to a number, they plug it in and the numbers tick over. That software played up and didn't deliver quite enough fuel. So take that with Mark: Well clearly. Something went wrong. Jack: a grain of salt, take it however you want, but that's what they reckon they've come up with and yeah. Mark: Yeah. Look, I'd almost believe that, due to the fact that these cars are so heavily engineered, everything goes through, you know, fine tooth gaming, you know, making sure they cross their T's dots, their I's. So I wouldn't be surprised if someone's just missed an error in in the in the alg algorithm that they're using to to do this, so hm. Jack: Yeah. Absolutely devastating though. He didn't even finish the race. He he pulled up in the chase Mark: Yeah. Jack: a couple hundred meters short, so Mark: Yeah. After being in the lead. Yeah. Yeah, that's that's disappointing, isn't it? Jack: majority of the day. Yeah. Yeah. That's devastating for the reason for the safety car and I think the only reason Team eighteen made to the last lap of the race was because of this safety car. So they actually saved a lot of fuel behind the safety car so they could just coast around real slow. But yeah, the only safety car was calls caused by Chaz Ostert, who I had as a pretty high hope of winning. Mark: You did, yes. Yep. Jack: yeah, he just made a silly little error, probably getting a bit tired at the end Mark: Mm. Jack: of the day, just clipped the wall at the elbow, punched it into the tie barrel on the other side, so Mark: Yeah. Jack: that was his day done. I don't think both the walk and shore cars were out. Mark: No, they weren't at the end, were they? Mm. Jack: Nah. I think I think they might have fixed Woody's car up just to collect points at the end, but he definitely wasn't circulating. Mark: Nine. Jack: and yeah. DJ R, Brody Kastecki, Todd Hazelwood, coming away with a win. The Mark: Yeah, good. Jack: way Brody drove at the end of that sort of last ten, fifteen laps was just incredible. Yeah. Mark: It was insane, wasn't it? It was a great great ten to fifteen lap ending. Like y Jack: Yeah. Mark: y you've seen we've seen these before in Bathurst, you know, such great great races. I I tuned in and out of the game out of the race throughout the day. had a little bit of windows here, but I yeah, I did sit down for the last probably seven or eight laps and it was so good. Like watching it Jack: Yeah. Mark: from there, it was just brilliant. Jack: The way he crafted that past to get past Will Brown. Like he tried it one lap, he got past him again, and then the next lap he goes, Nah. I'm just gonna park it at the apex, you're gonna hit and off we go. Just Mark: Yep. So good. Jack: good race crafter it. Mark: Yeah, it is, yeah. Genius genius maneuvers too. Yeah. Jack: Yeah. But I do have a a bit of a question for ya, that with only one safety car, the fastest ever Bathurst, a lot of people saying it was pretty boring, which yeah, a bit of a snooze fest, but wasn't too bad. other drivers just too good. Mark: Look, I think I it's it's probably the same with motor racing across the board, right? You know, we watch the Moto GP, I watch the highlights usually of the Formula One because I can't get it's it's on at ridiculous times. But these cars are so heavily engineered. The engineers are geniuses on how they work on these things and just to even get like w point one of a second a lap, they they they're working so hard to do that. That's not to take away that the drivers don't have skill 'cause there's no way you and I could get in a Formula One car or even you know one of these V eight's racing around Bathurst and actually make it around in a time that's even close to what these guys are doing. In the same car Jack: No, a hundred percent. Mark: set up for us. You know? There's no way we could do it. So well these cars are heavily engineered. The drivers have still got some mad skill. Like and the balls as well to to do the speeds Jack: yeah, definitely. Mark: that they do on some of those corners, man. Like I'd love to be able to drive like that. you know, around a racetrack. Like, yeah. Jack: Yeah, they're millimeters from the walls and yeah. They're hooking in, but there's also a bit there where they most of the race is just fuel saving these days, right? So they're driving to a number, so they're not like a hundred percent push every lap for a hundred and sixty laps. They're they're they're holding back, they're driving to a minute nine rather than I'm sorry, two minutes nine rather than two minutes four, which Mark: Mm. Yeah. Jack: you know, I think if you added two, three more compulsory pit stops and made it a bit more of a endurance sprint race. I reckon that'll make a huge difference 'cause then everyone's driving as hard as they can 'cause they don't need a fuel save. Mark: That is true. The other side of that as well is fatigue would hit in as well a bit more. You'd probably see Jack: Yes. Yep. Mark: a few more accidents, a few more crashes, maybe some less overtaking, that sort of stuff as people get fatigued throughout the day. It's a it's a long race. Like, you know, as good as the cars are, as good as the drivers are, I think you're right. If they added a few more compulsory pit stops. or even if they didn't, they just said, If you want to go as far as you can, go as fast as you can, see what you do. You know, everyone's people are gonna try and keep up with you, right? And yeah, sure. If you can get two laps a you know, if you can get say ten seconds ahead, there's a there's a full pit stop there, you know. Jack: Yeah, I think it's it's close to a minute for a full pit stop by the time they transit the lane and do the stop. But yeah, I think a few more few more pit stops, a lot more tires, maybe smaller fuel tanks, I don't know. yeah, you gotta do something to spice it up 'cause they're all just driving to a number just to get to that last dint of the day somewhere in a good position and see hope for the best, you know. Mark: See what happens. Look, I I guess that that question that you asked about the other drivers too good, that goes along with pretty much any professional sport these days, doesn't it? Like you look at the football players, it's Jack: Yeah, definitely. Mark: you know, while the there's not much technology in football itself, there's a lot of technology going into getting the athletes prepared to run run on the field, you know, from gym workouts to food to sleep regimes, everything like that that these guys do just to help them become better athletes. So yeah, there's look Are the drivers too good these days? Yes, I think they are good, but they're also backed up with the engineering services of those cars, so yeah. Jack: Yeah. But you see the co drivers now, hey, they most of start the race now, nearly all of them do. Mark: Yeah. Jack: which, you know, fifteen, twenty years ago never happened. Mark: Yeah, they barely drove. I mean they drove when they needed to, just to as compulsory drivers, but yeah. Yeah. Jack: Yeah. But most co drivers are within a tenth of the lap time of the main driver, so like they're all just as good as each other. So yeah, you got fifty Mark: Yeah. Jack: two drivers out there that can rag a lap pretty easy, so yeah. Mark: Yep. That's it. one thing I want to talk about, Bathist. you sent me an image or you s you sent me a TikTok Jack: Mm-hmm. Mark: showing the beer cans wrapped around that light pole. I Jack: Yes. Mark: was looking into it 'cause trying to find the photo so we could put it up online here, but I couldn't find the photo. apparently it happens every year up on the hill. But it was insane. I don't know how many beer cans there were, but I I was reading the thing. They they taped like a dozen beer cans together. around the pole and they slide up, put the next one on, slide up, put the next one on, slide up. They were almost Jack: Yeah. Mark: at the light bulb. Like it was insane. It was awesome. And Jack: It's genius. Mark: considering that Bathist have like a twenty four can per day limit on on beers f per person, I'm surprised they managed to get that many up there. Jack: Yeah, well, there's a lot of people up there, aren't there? You see them helicopter shots. Mark: That's true. Do they do people still go up there a week or two before and bury their beer? Jack: Yeah, I'm not sure, I think the cops caught onto that pretty quick, but you know. But on that, my partner has given me permission to go next year. So I think we need to look into that. Yeah. So I think we need Mark: Ooh. F two F at Bathurst. Yeah, okay. You got a Jack: to get our heads down and make that happen. Mark: I think we should, Jack: Hmm. Mark: Yeah, that'll be good. Give it a go. Jack: Yeah what I've been wanting to do it for years but just not in the right place at the right time. Mark: F to if takes on the race. Jack: Jesus look at. Mark: Do we take our variety bash car up there and give it a whirl? Jack: At the speed limit, cruising down the mountain. Mark: Exactly. Yeah, we'll feel like we're racing as fast as we can in that thing. Jack: Yeah, chat. Mark: That's it. All right, you want to talk about OGP? Jack: Yeah, let's do it. Mark: Yep. Jack: so they raced in where were they? Indonesia this week. Mark: Mm. Jack: Mark Marquez won the sprint race, pretty convincingly in the end. Mark: Yes. He did, didn't he? Yeah. Jack: But only because Aprilia pretty much dropped the ball. Jorge Martin was Mark: Mm. Jack: leading, racing away with it and then made a mistake. Yeah, dropped the ball, Marquez. took the lead and he was never gonna look back after that. Mark: Yeah. Jack: so yeah, another great win by the champ and in the race, it was a very different story. So Marco Betzki won that one. Raul Fernandez, which he hasn't been on the top very often in the trackhouse Mark: Yeah. Jack: Moto GP team. And Betzeki's teammate Martin come third to ran down the podium there. Mark Macas ended up sixth. He just had no speed in that bike in the race whatsoever. So Mark: Yeah, right. Yeah. I didn't I didn't see the race, so I'm just this is the first time I'm hearing about it didn't look it up today either. So yeah. Jack: Yeah. No, I d I watched the both Sprint and GP. Neither of were overly exciting races as far as Moto G P is concerned, but yeah. So Mark: Happens sometimes though. Yeah. Jack: it just tightens up the the calendar, sorry, the championship so much as well. so Martin has now overtaken Marquez for the lead of the championship. he's now 'Cause Marquez was leading prior to this event. so he is now two points ahead of Marquez rather than the other way around. So we've still got four rounds to go. Mark: Getting close now. Yeah, yeah. Jack: they're fairly well clear of third place, Marco Bedzaki now, he's forty six points behind. I think it's twenty five Mark: Couple of bad rices in Jack: points for a G P win. So yeah, he's he's a little bit behind now. Mark: But saying that, Marquez and Mart and Martin have a couple of bad races again. Bes and Bzecki doesn't. He's up there. Like it's it's not gonna we've Jack: Yeah, that's right. It doesn't take much to Mark: still got four races to go before championship is decided and it's being this close, i there's still a possibility. I wouldn't count him out yet. Jack: Yeah. definitely not. the way this place can turn around is just incredible, so yeah. Mark: That's it, man. That's it. Jack: yeah, keep an eye out for the Moto GP because they are racing in Australia next. Mark: Ooh. Jack: This will be the last time they're at Phillip Island as well, before they head to Mark: Yes. Jack: the Adelaide Street Circuit. Mark: Yeah, I reckon that'll be good. I mean I love Philip Island, but I think a street circuit in Australia would be awesome too on the bikes. You know, Jack: Mm. Mark: we we get the Gold Coast what do they call it now? Gold Coast five hundred? That's the one I was gonna call it the yeah. yeah, I was gonna call it Indie actually 'cause that's what we knew knew Jack: The cocoa's five hundred. Yep. Indy. Mark: it as s for so many years as kids. Jack: Yeah. Mark: but yeah the Gold Coast five hundred now we get that and it's awesome to see, so yeah. Jack: Hmm. I don't know, I'm I'm on the fence. I love Phillip Island 'cause it's fast and flowing, but I just don't see how they're gonna do the runoff for the street circuit, like they're gonna have these huge gravel traps to s just take the speed off so they don't hit a concrete wall at muckjes and Mark: Adds adds an extra element to it, doesn't it? Jack: Yeah, it definitely does. So Mark: Adds a fear factor. Will it be a well, I g I guess there's a question, is that fear factor gonna be in there for these drivers? I mean they've got massive moles on them, so I'm not sure it will matter. but it might. Jack: Yeah. I did see a three D render of the track and a bike actually going around it. and yeah, it looks amazing. Like it it should have some great racing, but yeah, be interested to see how it comes out. Hm. Mark: We'll see how it goes. Only gonna only gotta wait twelve months. Jack: Yeah, that's right. You're why it'll go pretty quick. Mark: That's it. you mentioned as well there's a post from Nathan Cleary, we'll just keep going to to the NRL now. Jack: Yeah, so bit of a cryptic one. sorry, I'll just pull it up here. Mark: Is it is it a career ending injury that he suffered and he's gonna be done or what? Jack: Well, it that's seems to be what he's hinting at. Mark: Yeah. Jack: so he I'll summarise very quickly, but basically goes to say the Panthers gave me everything, it's a great club, great fans, all the other stuff. Can't imagine wearing another jersey in the NRL if I ever step back on the field again. So if it says that it will only be for the Panthers, I'm at peace walking away from football, knowing that I gave everything I had to this club. So that to me nearly says that I think he's done. Mark: Sounds he's hanging up the boots. But this is a it it it has end ended a career of somebody else before. Broncos guy. Well see that's him, yeah. Jack: Yeah, yay. Yep. Mark: so yeah, look, could this be the end of Nathan Cleary? well he won't be playing next season, that's for sure. but I guess we'll wait and see what happens after that. Jack: Yeah. Maybe not I don't know, y'all. Depends on the damage 'cause they hold this info pretty close to themselves, but Mark: Yeah. Jack: yeah, he's had the surgeries on both feet now, leg and foot. Yeah, maybe a a late season try out next year perhaps, but Mark: That's it. Maybe you'll come back from retirement and help New South Wales win. Shout out to your mate there. Jack: Yeah. But look I don't know, he's done everything in the game, so yeah, you could probably be Mark: Hm. Yeah. Jack: pr pretty happy walking away right now. Mark: I reckon he would be and he'd get a he'd get a gig in probably in New South Wales as an assistant coach or as a coach or something like that. He'd probably help his dad out as well, like coaching and whatnot. obviously if he did stick around football he'd be around the Panthers 'cause he does love the club. Might get in the media or something, but look, whatever whatever he does, I hope he hope he does it does it well and he gets the recovery as well for his foot and his Jack: Hm. Mark: his leg, so Jack: Yeah, he's an absolute champion of the sport, so Mark: He is, yeah. Love him, I hate him or his chin. He's a good dude. Jack: We used to call what's his name? Seven a sever the chin. Nothing. He's got nothing. Mark: Yes. No, Cleary's come along and beat him on that one. Jack: Yeah. Mark: cricket as well. We wanna talk cricket now. We're gonna we're pretty much running into our summer over here now, so we're gonna be a lot more cricket in Australia. Jack: Yeah, that's right. so they just played Australia versus South Africa in Durban. Mark: They did. No sandpaper was involved for anyone listening? That w well that we found out yet. Jack: No, not this time. Did you watch any of it? Mark: watched a little bit, not much though. Yeah. Jack: What? I gotta say it. Absolutely embarrassing for South African cricket. That was a very small stadium and I think there might have been ten people in it. Like just crazy. was it? Yeah. Mark: Yeah, it was no one in there, was there? That was all over the news as well. Like yeah, they were talking about that too. Yeah, it was on news dot com. yeah, where they were saying that yeah, there's no one there, so Jack: But Look, Matt Renshaw had a great test. Mark: Mm. Jack: I think he scored a hundred and ninety in the first innings. Pretty much single handedly got Australia out of the shit. I think he got eighty two in the second innings, so two very Mark: Okay, yeah. So you did well then too, yeah. Jack: good performances. and then backed it up in the second innings to get two wickets while trying to get South Africa out on the last day, so He had a great Mark: He Jack: run. Mark: He's had a blinder, hasn't he? He's had a great day. Great week. Hmm. Hm. Jack: But so just the scores real quick. so first innings Australia was three hundred and ninety all out. Excuse me. South Africa were two hundred eighty four. Mark: Uh-huh. Jack: Second innings Australia was six for three hundred and fourteen, they declared. Mark: Yeah, that's right, they do too. Yep, yep. Jack: And then they got South Africa all out for two hundred and six, so Australia won by two hundred and fourteen runs in five days. Mark: Yep. When's the next test? It's it's not far away. Jack: It is eighteenth to the twenty third of October, so what's that? it's only about four days away, yeah. Mark: Yep. Next week, four days away. Yeah. That'll be good. Jack: it's not telling me where that one's played, unfortunately, but it will still be in South Africa somewhere with a zero crowd. Mark: Yes. And at on at what, eleven PM for us or something like that it is? Yeah, it's yeah, it's ridiculous. You know, we're not watching. Jack: Yeah, it's on at some stupid time. Yeah. Yeah. Mark: Well, I'll probably just watch the highlights in the morning when I'm start working, say. Jack: Yeah. Yeah. But yeah, I watched a a little bit of it at night. and yeah, I'd it was still good cricket, even though no one was there. it's still South Africa, you know, they're a good side, so Mark: All right. I know we talked about this last week. but I did some research into the Variety Bash. I Jack: yeah. Mark: haven't looked into the mini motor event yet. I thought we'd start with the variety bash, so we'll see how that goes. basically it's running from the second to the twelfth of August next year. It runs from Romar to the sunny coast via Airley Beach. So basically they're going Jack: Yeah. Mark: inland up north, coming around and then coming back down to the sunny coast. So it's probably a good one for us to do, living in Brisbane. early bird sign up when registration is about 250 bucks. Otherwise, if you miss the early bird, it's three hundred and eighty-five, I think it is. there's a there is a minimum fundraising target you have to get though. as rookies it'd be six thousand, but the normal minimum is eight and a half thousand. So look, I think it's doable. Jack: Yeah, definitely. Mark: They'll there's provisions you gotta as party entry you gotta have provisions as well for a per person per day levy. And that 'cause they put on all the food and accommodation, stuff like that. You can go and stay where you want, but it's basically camping. They'll pay for the campground, everything like that. there's certain things they don't pay for, but that's like lunch on the last day or your or your layover day, because there is a day off in there as well. they talk about closer to the event the car undergoes scrutineering to make sure it meets all safety standards and everything like that, which they did have a little bit of information on the car scrutineering. So basically you've got to have underbody bash plates on it to protect the engine. the sump and everything like that. You gotta have fuel tank protection on it, safety equipment and communications, so obviously two way radios, that sort of stuff. And it's gotta be registered and insured and like all that normal stuff. So it's not too onerous. the vehicles do have to be twenty five years old for two wheel drive or thirty years old for four wheel drive. So you have to have an old car, which will be cool. so yeah, I I think it I think it would be good to to get involved in. there is a lot of fundraising to have to do. But as far as the the other rest of it goes, like the I think they were saying it's probably you're looking at about twelve hundred bucks a person as the provisional levy, to to get through it. So yeah. think I think it might be worth worth looking into. Jack: Yeah, look, I'm I'm pretty keen actually. I've I've talked about doing this for a while too, but what sort of car do you want? Mark: Look, I was you know you mentioned yesterday, like last week about the XF Falcon and stuff like that. I reckon we could get a Falcon. I I had a quick look on car sales, didn't see any wagons up there, but I did only search around the local Brisbane area. I think something a little bit bigger than a small car would be good. either Jack: Yeah. Mark: that or we look at getting like an old an old Jaguar or something like that. Hmm. Yeah, yeah, go out and style. Jack: Yeah, right. Go a bit fancy, you reckon. To the Chagwar. Mark: Yes. shit. Yeah, so Jack: Yeah, so six grand fundraising we need. Yep. Mark: Your minimum. Yeah. Yeah. Jack: And a twenty five to thirty year old car. Hmm. I reckon we can make this work. Mark: Yeah, minimum. So look, I reckon we could too. There'd be plenty of old cars out there sitting in someone's backyard as well. Like if if we can't find one of car sales, put it up on Gumtree or even Facebook or something like that, saying we're looking for an old car. So Jack: Well, I reckon we do that and then drive that to Bathurst. Mark: yes. Jack: Put a couch on the top, because I'm pretty sure they still burn the couch at the end of the week on top of the mountain, so Yeah. I Mark: they could I like that. That's a good idea. Yeah. Jack: reckon we do that. Mark: Alright, that sounds like a plan. So we're gonna look at variety bash and hitting bath bafus next year. Jack: Yep. Let's do it. Mark: I like it, I like it. Is there a particular car you'd want to look at? Outside of a falcon? Jack: Excuse me. look, if it's not gonna be a Falcon, remember that little I think it was like a seventy five corolla I had, that little blue thing? Mark: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Jack: That little bush basher? That car was awesome. Yeah. That thing is bulletproof Mark: That was, yeah, that'd be cool. Yeah. That'd be all right. Jack: 'cause I drove the wheels off that thing literally. So Mark: Ha ha Jack: Yeah, something like that. But I think a bigger car would be would be better. Mark: Look, I think it'd just make it safer for both of if we're in a bigger car. Jack: Especially the camels and kangaroos out that way, bloody hell. Mark: Yeah, it'd be a bit of fun. Jack: yeah. Mark: Navigating those ones, yeah. do you reckon we could convince Dad to join us on the on the trip? You've got to have a minimum two people in the car. Jack: Ooh. Yeah. I'm not sure. Mark: Yeah. I was thinking that too. It's a long way, it's twelve days or ten days or something. Yeah. Stuck in a c Jack: He might be a bit old these days. Mark: stuck in a car with us. Jack: Yeah. Imagine the smells coming out of it. Huh. Mark: That's it just out of him. Jack: With our powers combined. Floody hell. Mark: That's it. Jack: Chernobyl's got nothing on us. Mark: You make a good point there. All right, I'm gonna ask you a pub question now. I've probably got two for you here, you can understand everything animals say, but every animal you meet absolutely hates you. Jack: Yeah. Mark: Do you take this ability? And would you ever go to a zoo? And which animal would be the most insulting do you reckon? Yeah. Jack: I like it. I like it. most animals seem to hate me anyway, 'cause d doing the business I do, I get attacked by so many birds, it's crazy. Yeah. Mark: I can imagine with lovers, especially at the moment. Jack: Yeah, plovers and I even got sweeped by a crow yesterday, that was crazy. Mark: All right. Jack: But Yeah, look, I think I'd take it. I think I'd Mark: Yeah. Jack: do take the ability. 'Cause I reckon it'd be hilarious. Like just Mark: It would be a Jack: a Imagine like a plover just sweeping you. Imagine what it's saying, like, you piece of shit. Mark: Well actually that was the that was the animal that I thought would be the most insulting 'cause they're aggressive little fucks, aren't they? Like, yeah. Jack: Hell yeah, they are very protective. Mark: They really are. Jack: if I went to a zoo though, most animal most insulting animal. I reckon it's gonna be a giraffe to be honest. Just 'cause like they look like they're arseholes. Like they're all cute and huge, but I I reckon they'd be arseholes. Hm. Mark: I reckon they would be too, Look at th yeah, they'd probably I reckon you'd be right there. Either that or the mere cat, 'cause they're just they'd be like that. They'd have a little dog syndrome, wouldn't they? Like they sit up there. You Jack: Just yapping. Mark: just yap at you, just fucking go. Just s egg ya on. Yeah. Jack: Bit like when you go to the state of origin, you know, New South Wales and Queensland just like y yapping at each other. Mark: Look, I I guess that raises the next question. Does Paul Gallon consider us animals? Jack: Well, Mark: All those times he came up here and every time he got the ball he he got booed. Like so is Jack: Yeah. Mark: it is that like him going to the zoo with all the animals where they all hate you? Jack: Well, it probably felt that way, but in an interview he said that he loved it. He he thrived off it, but I don't know, it's gotta grind you down, 'cause like all those games that you and I went to, holy hell. Like every time you touch the football, which is a lot, you just have fifty thousand people booing you like. Mark: That was so good though. Jack: But I don't know, like I reckon Michael Ennis would be a good one 'cause back in his plan day, he could start a fight in an empty room. Mark: He did start a fight with himself. A hundred Jack: Yeah. Mark: percent. Yeah. All right, I've got another one for you too, 'cause I didn't think that wanna Jack: Mm-hmm. Mark: take up too much time. how long do you think you could survive like Tom Cru Tom not Tom Cruise, Tom Hanks did on Castaway? Jack: Jeez. That's a tough one. Mark: Yeah. Jack: I reckon I'll go right up until the point where he got the sawtooth. Mark: yeah, what he did there was nasty, Yeah. Jack: Yeah. I just I don't think I could do it, Yeah. Mark: Yeah. Well I didn't even think about that actually when I was ask when I was looking at the question. Yeah. Hmm. Jack: That bit makes me cringe every time. Like just the thought it 'cause I think he used an ice skate or something and like hit it with a coconut to knock it out and Yeah, ugh. Nah, that's me done. Just Mark: Yep. kno knocked himself out. Yeah. Jack: a sharkbait, wooha. Mark: Look, I thought you'd I thought you'd last as long as you could until you popped the ball. You'd cut an opening in it and away you go and you'd pop him and that'd be it. Jack: Yeah. That's a a round mouth for Mark: That'll be the end for you. You'd be like, I'm done now. Can't can't find another one. Maybe a coconut at work, I don't know. Jack: Yeah. Be crying Wilson for a different reason. Mark: All right, let's you want to talk business this week. I know we're we're still looking at getting some people on the show, like an account and everything like that to talk about. Jack: Mm. Yeah. Mark: but you mentioned you wanted to talk about you had a couple of questions like starting a business, is it right for you? actually made me think about things as well. Like a lot of people talk about being their own boss for the lifestyle and for everything like that. But do people actually understand what it means to actually start your own business? Jack: Yeah, look it's definitely the biggest question before you jump in. because if you wanna start a business to get a better work life balance or have more time for yourself, more time for your family, I think it might be the wrong choice because you definitely don't have more time. arguably less. especially 'cause like what I do, I'm out all day, I do the jobs, doing the physical work. But all the admin stuff's still here when I get home. So I get home, clean everything up, reset for the next day, and then have dinner, whatnot, and then spend two, three hours at the computer doing the admin side for it, so Mark: Yep. Look, I I'll agree a hundred percent with you there. I wanted to start my own business because I was sick of doing what I do for someone else. so that was part of the reason. But the other part was to have a better lifestyle as well, which I know will we'll get there and I just need to make the routines for myself as well. but that's a added benefit of running my own business and doing what I do because I can do it at night and I don't necessarily need to do it between the hours of six AM and twelve PM. You know, unless I've got meetings and stuff, as and as long as my clients are serviced and everyone's happy. I could work till midnight or two AM if I wanted to So I do have the that lifestyle outside of that, but which is a lot different from you 'cause you have to be out there during the day 'cause you can't do what you do at night. so yeah, like that's a good point you make that if you are looking at doing it to have a better lifestyle and and time for yourself and everything, well you can get to that point. Like I'm what six months in now for lack of a better term or time frame there. and I think I've played golf maybe once and I wanted to play more. I need to get better routines and stuff. 'cause I get up, have a coffee, start work, you know, go do a few other things during the day where I need to probably prioritize a few things differently. So yeah. Jack: Yep. Especially for where you live, like backing onto a golf course basically, so you know, Mark: Mm. Mm. Yeah. Jack: y you just need to book it in, get up early, do the early Mark: Go on do it. Jack: morning round and then you're set for the day. yeah, definitely for me it's it's hard because I can only work between the hours of seven and five. I've also got to do s yeah, I've got Mark: Yep. Yeah, daylight hours essentially, Hm. Jack: to do school drop off and pick up in that time as well, so my time is very limited, but like I've loved it. the grind is very real. there's been times where I'm like, Man, this is too hard. Especially working full time. Like I did day shift today, twelve and a half hour shift. Now we're doing this. And I've got a another six days of day shift ahead of me, so and then come Wednesday next week, I'll finish work Tuesday. Wednesday I've got like seven jobs lined up on day one, so yeah, it's it's Mark: Yep. Back into it. Jack: constant. Mark: Yeah. All right. what was the decision for you to start your own business and what prompted it? Jack: for me it was I've just been doing shift work for so long. it's pretty much all I know at the moment. and I just don't wanna be in that industry anymore. I felt like this is probably I've been thinking about doing this for a very long time and this is a good place for me to start. yeah, still working the the seven day roster, seven days off so I have time to build it so I'm not just taking the big leap like you are. but yeah, it's it's a view to an end for me, to get me out of shift work. Mark: Yeah. Look, I I think you've taken the the right way to do things here as well. Like you can run this and coincide it with what you're doing for a full time job at the moment. So whereas like for me, as a as we talked about previously, I had to stop what I was doing and then start this. which I guess begs the next question as well for me, is being good at your job the same as being able to run a business? for me, I like to think I'm good at my job. I've had a lot of clients come back to me saying You know, you're really good at what you do. when I started this I thought I had the the right mindset to run a business and I do. I feel like I do. It's been a steep learning curve though. Like even from Jack: Hm. Yeah. Mark: you know, getting your accounting software set up to, you know, doing your admin side of things and doing your invoicing and chasing invoices and chasing your quotes and all that sort of stuff. it it is, as you mentioned, the grind is real, in it. And you know, I had to do some invoicing with my previous job as well. So like it wasn't that side of things wasn't new to me. But the the amount of work that goes into it on the back end that we never saw 'cause we had an admin team doing all that stuff for us, that's the real bit. Like I sat here for two hours the other day putting everything into zero to make sure I had all my bills and stuff and so the accountant could come along and go, All right, everything seems to be good when it's her turn to do the work. So yeah, it's it's it's keeping on top of that sort of stuff as well. It's a massive responsibility too, isn't it? Jack: it's huge. because you know, we've both done it this way. We both went as sole traders to start with and then both realised it probably wasn't quite the right fit, so we are now both beta-rand companies. which has all the legal and tax ramifications that you could possibly imagine. Yeah, Mark: It's only getting worse too with the government going on. Jack: that's right. which is why I pay an accountant to do it all for me because until I figure it out for myself, which I'm still trying to learn how to run the business, like from a physical point of view. I don't need to worry about the tax and legal side just yet because I'm still trying to get my head around the rest of it. So I think once I've got my head around that bit then I'll start looking at the legal and tax implications for it. But yeah, for now, I think just having a good accountant, someone who can guide you through this stuff. Is worth its white gold. Mark: a hundred percent. yeah, getting a good accountant and getting them to do as much for you as they can if you're in a position to pay them. If not, do your research beforehand as well about what it takes to start a business, get it off the ground, what systems you need, everything like that. You know, even even just getting your company set up, like I ended up using an accountant to get mine set up, it did cost me a bit, but it was worthwhile because I looked at the systems and went I could probably I could probably sit down and work it out, but I just wanted to get it done as well, so yeah. saying all that doom and gloom shit, you know, there is a there is a lot of satisfaction to it as well. Like landing your own clients. Obviously I had clients beforehand that that when they found out I'd left, they followed me across. so landing your own clients, like landing new clients for me was was was hugely satisfying. getting my first invoice sent out and then in return getting it paid. I printed it out. it's I haven't put it in a frame yet, but I'm gonna put in a frame when I've finished setting up my office, which is why I've got a background at the moment, 'cause doing renovations. When I get the office set I'm gonna have it up there, like my first invoice that got paid. that was satisfying for me, knowing that money was coming in. I hit a new target this month in terms of invoices generated. So like I'm pretty happy with that. the freedom of hours, you know, I've talked before about being able to take the dog for a walk in the morning with my coffee and stuff and then I've just gotta set up my routines to be able to go out and play golf more and do these things. So yeah, so there is some satisfaction you get out of it if you look at it in the right way as well. Jack: Definitely. I think you get more satisfaction out of it than working for someone else because you've done that work, right? You've put in the hard yards. You know what's going on in the background to reach that goal. So anytime you complete a job and the payment comes in, it's all done, customer's happy, you're happy, you can sit back and go, Fuck yeah, I did that. Yeah. Mark: Yeah. That's it and that was satisfying for me. More so satisfying than sitting there and getting all your invoices out for the month and you get paid a portion of that and the vr the Jack: Mm. Yeah, that's right. Mark: company takes rest. But saying that, I have a newfound respect for anyone who does run a company because the liability is on you. If you don't make the money, you can't pay your employees, you can't pay your staff, you can't even pay yourself. Like obviously Jack: Yep. Yeah. Mark: you run a company for yourself and it's just me. But if I don't generate the money, I'm not getting paid. Jack: Yeah, that's right. Yeah. There's a lot of pressure. A lot of pressure. And yeah, Mark: Yeah. Hmm. Yeah. Jack: I I've spent a few hours at night staring at the roof, wondering how the hell I'm gonna make this work, but yeah, we're getting there. Mark: Yeah, that's it. So, a question for everyone who's listening who does want to start their own business, I'd put it to you this way. Would you rather remain earning hundred and twenty thousand dollars a year working for somebody else, but there's no stress and there's a potential for you to move up or earn more money that way? Or would you want to start a company or start your own business and earn the same money that you would make for someone else, but you've got all the stress in the world that comes with it. You know, not knowing if you're going to get enough jobs next month to pay the bills or anything like that. So I do wanna continue this on. We are running out of time today. Jack: Mm. Mark: There's so much more we can talk about. I've got some talking points as well after you told me want to talk about this. So yeah, it would be would be good to keep keep going on about this. Jack: Yeah, definitely. especially like even just starting like getting the A B N's and tax file numbers and all the the crap that you need to actually get the the show on the road. So Yeah, we'll carry this on next week. Mark: That's it. Yep. Hundred percent. Weird shit of the week. This is probably becoming one of my Jack: Mm-hmm. Mark: favorite segments at the moment next to off the mark as we're gonna have to start that next week. all right, this one this one's not about shit this week, but it is close. So Jack: Yeah. Mark: there's a stadium in America in Nebraska, it's the Nebraska Memorial Stadium. people are being offered urinals as memorabilia. 'cause I think they're undergoing renovations. They're apparently three thousand dollars. Jack: Holy hell. Mark: So, which which brings me to my point here. What sort of memories do you have at a urinal that you're willing to buy one for three thousand dollars? Like I mean I I mean get people Jack: Not that good of memory as I can tell you Mark: do coke in the toilets, people do whatever they want in there, but I mean are you have you got a that good of a memory at a pisser? That you're buying it for three thousand dollars. Jack: Just imagine the amount of penises that thing has seen. The amount of fluid that has gone through those things. 'Cause like Mark: Ugh. Jack: they're renovating it, so it's obviously pretty old. Imagine Mark: Hmm. Jack: all those dudes for years just pumping that thing. Mark: Yeah. Jack: Yeah, like it's it's no from me, I'm afraid. But Mark: to know. Okay, well, 'cause I had a question for you, if I gave you three grand to spend on sporting memorabilia, how far down the list would a pistroff be? Jack: I don't think it's even on the list to be honest. That's that's something new. Yeah, especially three grand. Like you might get one and put it in like if you've got a man cave, put it there and like plumb it in so it's actually useful, then you can be like, that's from a stadium. Yeah, they got renovated. Mark: For three thousand bucks. Jack: Nah, three grand, no way. Mark: All right, let's say one of your mates invited you over to see the they didn't tell you what it was. They said, I've got a three thousand dollar investment, come on over and take a look at it. You t you walked in, turned out to be a piss trough. Would you be impressed or would you be concerned? Jack: slightly concerned, I think. Mark: Yeah, I'll be too. Jack: Yeah, I I hope they cleaned it at least. Yeah. Like with with bleach. A lot of it. Mark: No, I just took it off the wall and gave it to you. Probably took a piss in it before they did. Yeah, Jack: Yeah. Mark: that's it. Alright, one more one more for you here. if you had to buy one piece of sporting equipment that's had the most body fluids on it, what are you buying? Are you buying a stadium urinal? Are you buying buying an AFL change room bench? Are you buying a second hand boxing glove? Or are you buying the bed from Christchurch from May two thousand and two when the Cranola Sharks did what they did, that got Maddie John stood down from all his T V roles seven years later. You know the incident I'm talking about. Jack: Yeah. I do know the incident. look, I don't think there would have been a lot of bodily fluids on that mattress because they were all juiced up. So I seriously doubt anything really come out but Mark: You make a good point there. Jack: Jeeze, I don't know, man, even like a like a rugby league ball, the amount of spit, snot and blood and fluid that's on that thing, that'd be pretty gross by the end of the game I reckon. Mark: So is winning the game ball really that good then? Jack: No, I don't think it is. Yeah, everyone tries to catch it when they kick it in the crowd. I'll be like get away from me. Mark: Yeah. Yeah, don't don't touch it. Jack: Yeah, shit, I don't know. There's gotta be a lot. Mark: Yeah, I'm I'm not even going into that. Yeah. Jack: Well, Mark Weber a few years ago was thrown up in his helmet during the race, so you know there's that. Mark Weber's Mark: Yeah, okay. There's that too. Jack: vomited in helmet. Mark: That'd go for a fair bit, I reckon. Jack: I reckon I would do. Mark: Maybe you just buy it for three thousand and sell it for like fifty thousand or something like that. Jack: In a couple of years, Mark: That's it. Alright. Birdie and Bogey for this week. my birdie would be Nate contacting us about the story. I think that was pretty cool. Jack: Mm-hmm. Mark: our first bit of feedback from a listener. bogey this week for me or actually I don't actually have a bogey this week. I think it's been a pretty decent week for me. The the second part to that is got YouTube working. So we are now officially on Jack: Yes. Mark: YouTube. We got our first episode launched on there earlier than this week or maybe it was over the weekend Jack: Mm-hmm. Mark: actually I managed to get it up. so yeah, you can look us on YouTube. So that'll be good. Hmm. What about you, Birdie and Burgie? Jack: Yep, it's very exciting. Birdie. I know, had a very good week. I'm a big DJR racing fan, so I'm stoked with the win for the weekend. even old Dick Johnson himself had a tear in his eye that day, so Mark: He didn't. Jack: very stoked about that. The bogey. gonna talk about real life for a second. Mark: Get real. Jack: just the the kids this week just had a rough sort of week getting to sleep. my young fella especially was up till ten thirty, just couldn't get to sleep. Mark: shit. Jack: Then the next night was just after midnight. he wasn't upset, didn't have bad dreams, just couldn't get to sleep, which meant I couldn't sleep either, so Mark: Yeah, okay. Jack: yeah, just just a rough week. I hope there's nothing going on with the little fella. He he wouldn't he said he's fine, so I don't know, I'll just keep Mark: Yeah. Jack: keep asking and keep being there for him, but yeah. Mark: All right. Yeah, nothing going on at school or anything that you know about? Jack: No, no, he says everything's going well, so yes. Silly bugger. Mark: Maybe just miss dad and wanted to spend some time with you. Hmm. Yeah, what an idiot. Love ya. Love ya dude. Jack: But yeah, something to keep an eye on for next week, that's for sure. Mark: Yeah. That's cool, man. I like that. Jack: Yeah. Mark: Alright, we better wrap this up. We're just a little bit over an hour now, which is Jack: Yeah. Mark: which is fine for everyone if you want to keep listening to us. so as I mentioned before, as part of my birdie and buggy, we did get YouTube up on the weekend. we've we will put this episode up there probably tomorrow or Friday as well, once we get it all sorted out. and episode one or two will go up at some point in the next little bit too. There's a lot more editing on those two. when we first started this I didn't really know what we were doing. We just sort of Jack: Because we're shit. Mark: we hit record and then we just went Yeah, we'll work this out as we go. Fucked it up a few times. but yeah, I just want to say to everyone as well, you know, like and subscribe to us on all platforms. It does help us, as I'm sure you all know by now. and you know, just hit play, mute us, walk away if you don't want to listen to what we have to say. Either way. Jack: Look, our voices are pretty rough, so I wouldn't blame ya, but I think we do Mark: I have the voice of an angel. Jack: we do talk some good stuff as well, so Mark: That's it. We talk a lot of shit, but we also talk some yeah mildly entertaining stuff. Yeah. what's coming up for you this week? Jack: well yeah, day shift, so six days of that. and then straight into jobs for the business next week from Wednesday, so yeah. Busy as usual. But I do want to throw in real quick that Mark: Yeah. Mm-hmm. Jack: the first Rugby League World Cup game is on tomorrow night at seven five. It is Australia versus New Zealand. Mark: Is this seven five Queensland time or seven five absolute retard time? Sorry, I can't say that. I apologise to everyone now, I'm gonna get in trouble. Jack: Look. Yes you will. I think the website follows where you are. So Mark: Okay. Jack: if you go to the NRL website, it will tell you the time for the region that you're in. Mark: Look, I'll I'll leave it there for you, because I know obviously your mate might correct you on that one too, so Jack: I can't wait. Mark: is there anything we want to talk about next week? Obviously we'll talk more business. Jack: yeah, definitely more business. yeah, there's a fair bit of sport still Mark: Mm. Jack: to come this weekend, so get into a bit more of that. yeah, I think a little bit more business bit more business focus next week would be good. Mark: Hm. Yeah, I think so too, yeah. Yep. All right. and I'm thinking maybe not next episode, but the one after that we catch up, maybe go darts or go play pool and see where we go. Or maybe if we just hit the Jack: Yep. Definitely. Mark: driving range up one on one night. Yeah. Yeah, record a few things and and get it up online and see what everyone thinks. Jack: Yeah. Keen for that. Hmm. Yeah, sounds good, man. Mark: That's it. yeah, everyone, if you can like and subscribe to us on all platforms, maybe leave a comment too. tell Jack how wrong he is about the time. tell me how offensive I was when I said the R word just before, whatever it is you want, give us a bit of shit. we'll put you on air if you want us want to. If you just want to keep it quiet, we won't. but yeah, look if you if you're not willing to put your name out there and have a go at us, that's that's on you. Well you abuse yourself too. Yeah. Jack: Yeah, that's right. Yeah. We don't care. Like abuse us. We're used to it. Okay, we talk to each other. Yeah, that's right. In other ways, but Mark: All good. All right everyone, we'll keep it real and we'll see you next week. Jack: See us then.
