- 0:35Speaker 1: we watching? Good morning, Matthew. How are you doing today, Michael? Yeah, okay,
- 0:40Speaker 1: a little more enthusiasm would be appreciate. You're over there,
- 0:43Speaker 1: suckond down an energy drink? Has the energy not kicked
- 0:46Speaker 1: in yet?
- 0:47Speaker 2: No?
- 0:47Speaker 1: That is not okay? But are we on YouTube? Yes? Okay? Good?
- 0:51Speaker 1: So all you got to do I've already forgotten with
- 0:55Speaker 1: go look up Big X Sports Radio Louisville. Is that right? Yes? Okay.
- 1:00Speaker 1: If you look up on YouTube Big X Sports Radio Louisville,
- 1:04Speaker 1: you can find us and you can see how awaken,
- 1:07Speaker 1: alert and in the Dark matthew is and I, you know,
- 1:10Speaker 1: a bright light bushy tail over here with the lights on,
- 1:14Speaker 1: window open and ready to talk about UK.
- 1:19Speaker 3: I like it in the dark. It's nice.
- 1:21Speaker 1: Yeah, you do. It keeps you That's the problem. I
- 1:24Speaker 1: don't want you calm. I want you on your toes.
- 1:26Speaker 1: I want you ready to talk and ready to uh
- 1:29Speaker 1: just talk about how great UK is today because I
- 1:32Speaker 1: know you love doing that. But uh, anyway, I do
- 1:35Speaker 1: love how you support your Upper Decker podcast. You wear
- 1:39Speaker 1: that hat? Do you do you have several of them?
- 1:41Speaker 1: Or is that the same one you wear pretty much
- 1:43Speaker 1: on a daily basis?
- 1:44Speaker 3: This is the same one I wear?
- 1:45Speaker 1: It is?
- 1:45Speaker 3: I like that?
- 1:46Speaker 1: I like the way you promote your podcast.
- 1:49Speaker 3: Yes, I mean I try and wear wherever I can,
- 1:52Speaker 3: or at least if like the outfit matches. Obviously I'm
- 1:54Speaker 3: wearing like random colors. I wouldn't wear it, but.
- 1:56Speaker 1: Yeah, I think you should. Who cares that you'd stand out?
- 1:59Speaker 3: Well, it's also one of the only hats that fits
- 2:01Speaker 3: my head. I have like a weirdly shaped head. Yeah,
- 2:03Speaker 3: so like some hats just like don't fit so this one?
- 2:06Speaker 1: Oh really?
- 2:06Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 2:07Speaker 1: How is your head weirdly shaped?
- 2:09Speaker 3: I don't know, it's something about like there just aren't
- 2:11Speaker 3: a lot of hats that like fit very well. I
- 2:14Speaker 3: don't describe it, like, but this is one does.
- 2:16Speaker 1: That's the old school. I like how you went with
- 2:19Speaker 1: the old late seventies early eighties hat because it's got
- 2:23Speaker 1: the rope on the front of it, so it's a
- 2:25Speaker 1: golf hat.
- 2:25Speaker 3: Probably my favorite era that I got to live. Is
- 2:27Speaker 3: it really that I got to live through? Yes?
- 2:31Speaker 1: Wait, what year were you born? Well? How how did
- 2:35Speaker 1: you live through the eighties? I didn't. I I was joking, Okay,
- 2:38Speaker 1: I was going was fancastic. Yeah, okay, I got was it? Yeah?
- 2:42Speaker 1: It was a bad, bad dad joke. Okay, just let
- 2:44Speaker 1: you know. So but we do have a lot of
- 2:47Speaker 1: good news day. But first, how do you think the
- 2:49Speaker 1: first day of I sixty five closure went yesterday?
- 2:54Speaker 3: I never had to be a part of it, so
- 2:55Speaker 3: pretty good.
- 2:55Speaker 1: Yeah. I will say though this driving in this morning,
- 2:58Speaker 1: I noticed a lot more traffic on the Waterston Expressway.
- 3:02Speaker 1: That would make sense. Yeah, I didn't notice it yesterday.
- 3:06Speaker 1: Today it was a lot more trafficky. Here's the one
- 3:09Speaker 1: thing I I it's going to be something to watch.
- 3:14Speaker 1: You know, a lot of these people are that are
- 3:18Speaker 1: have to use and use alternative routes to bypass I
- 3:22Speaker 1: sixty five. Now they're going through U of L. And
- 3:25Speaker 1: you know there's that one place down there at the
- 3:27Speaker 1: third Street bridge. Did you notice yesterday there were a
- 3:34Speaker 1: lot of people online talking about it's going to be
- 3:37Speaker 1: a long summer because the can opener is taking down trucks.
- 3:40Speaker 1: Did you see where it took down at least four
- 3:43Speaker 1: trucks yesterday. Yeah, I did see that, and somebody said, yeah,
- 3:47Speaker 1: it's going to be a long summer. I think no,
- 3:49Speaker 1: it's not. It's going to be an entertaining summer. I
- 3:53Speaker 1: don't know why these trucks don't read signs.
- 3:57Speaker 3: I mean, for me, it's the fact that like that
- 4:00Speaker 3: bridge is like world famous now it really is. So
- 4:03Speaker 3: it's one where like if you were to get you
- 4:05Speaker 3: to go out there and get your CDL you're ever
- 4:07Speaker 3: driving through here, like there should be like a note
- 4:09Speaker 3: this is, hey, you just don't go this way.
- 4:10Speaker 1: Oh exactly. It's like wait, wait, if you put it
- 4:13Speaker 1: in ways, or if you put it in Google maps
- 4:16Speaker 1: or whatever map, Apple Map, whatever map you use, they
- 4:20Speaker 1: should put on there. If you're driving a truck, do
- 4:22Speaker 1: not go this way, I agree. And and the fact
- 4:27Speaker 1: that these guys just continue to drive down through there,
- 4:32Speaker 1: and what I thought was funny the report I looked up,
- 4:34Speaker 1: at least four trucks had been taken down. It is.
- 4:39Speaker 1: It is worldwide famous. It's it's at least really famous
- 4:42Speaker 1: within the country. It's a it's a trucking phenomenon. It
- 4:45Speaker 1: is a trucking phenomenon. And I'm why does it keep
- 4:48Speaker 1: taking down trucks? I just for the life man, I
- 4:51Speaker 1: don't know why they don't look into this. And should
- 4:54Speaker 1: they change it now and make it higher? I mean,
- 4:57Speaker 1: should they invest some money?
- 5:00Speaker 3: I mean, yeah, they should. But are they gonna no,
- 5:03Speaker 3: of course not. I mean all you gotta do, don't
- 5:06Speaker 3: if you ask me. All you gotta do is just
- 5:07Speaker 3: dig deeper. You don't have to change the height of
- 5:11Speaker 3: the bridge. Just go ahead and take the road out,
- 5:14Speaker 3: dig down deeper until you get the depth that we
- 5:17Speaker 3: need to get all these trucks through there. But because
- 5:19Speaker 3: that's what we need right now, any more road construction,
- 5:21Speaker 3: yes we do.
- 5:22Speaker 1: I don't drive through u of al, so it doesn't
- 5:24Speaker 1: bother me a bit. If they want to do all
- 5:25Speaker 1: the construction down that area, fine, that's let's do it,
- 5:28Speaker 1: Taylorsville Road. Go ahead and do all the construction you want.
- 5:31Speaker 1: I'm not worried about it, Okay. I'm just trying to
- 5:37Speaker 1: ras you, but you're not biting it. So anyway, I
- 5:40Speaker 1: just don't have I don't have any more comments on this, Okay,
- 5:42Speaker 1: all right, then, well I won't make any more comments.
- 5:44Speaker 1: But I thought everything went well yesterday. I'm happy to
- 5:47Speaker 1: see that. I did see this morning on the news
- 5:49Speaker 1: though they do have a countdown clock for what for
- 5:54Speaker 1: the construction?
- 5:55Speaker 3: Oh I didn't see that.
- 5:56Speaker 1: Yes, So now they are going to be You know,
- 6:00Speaker 1: there are a lot of times where when they have construction,
- 6:04Speaker 1: they're incentives with the construction company to have it done
- 6:07Speaker 1: on time or earlier. They get bonuses. I don't know
- 6:10Speaker 1: if they that Kentucky's smart enough to do that.
- 6:14Speaker 3: I don't think so.
- 6:15Speaker 1: I don't either. But I think the countdown clock is brilliant.
- 6:20Speaker 1: We should put it up on our website. I think
- 6:23Speaker 1: it's just be on every single billboard going down every
- 6:25Speaker 1: single yeah way, yeah, well put it up over there
- 6:29Speaker 1: on every billboard that's not getting utilized. On I sixty
- 6:32Speaker 1: five between the Waterston and Jefferson Street. That's what they
- 6:35Speaker 1: need to do. Have multiple ones so that every time
- 6:38Speaker 1: a construction worker looks up, it's like, oh crap, I
- 6:41Speaker 1: better work a little faster.
- 6:42Speaker 3: I think we should get like a hot line number
- 6:44Speaker 3: for like the foreman for all these construction crews and
- 6:47Speaker 3: be like, so, how long far along are we? Yeah,
- 6:49Speaker 3: you can check in on them everything.
- 6:50Speaker 1: No, I don't know. I don't know if I would
- 6:52Speaker 1: like that, But you know, a lot of times they'll
- 6:54Speaker 1: put up cameras that would be fun to watch.
- 6:57Speaker 3: I bet it'd be so much fun.
- 6:58Speaker 1: Yeah, I would definitely too.
- 7:00Speaker 3: I'd probably have to switch over to that channel after
- 7:02Speaker 3: I got done watching grass grow over the past three hours.
- 7:06Speaker 1: Exciting. Yeah, I know. No, I like, you know, there's
- 7:09Speaker 1: always like stadiums that are being built. They'll put up
- 7:13Speaker 1: cameras as far as the demolition and then also uh,
- 7:19Speaker 1: the building of the stadium and when they put it
- 7:21Speaker 1: fast forward. I think it's pretty cool to watch that
- 7:24Speaker 1: how quickly it comes up.
- 7:26Speaker 3: Do people ever like watch those live streams, like genuinely,
- 7:30Speaker 3: you know, I.
- 7:31Speaker 1: Don't think so. I would hope not, because that to
- 7:33Speaker 1: me would be utterly boring. The only live streams that
- 7:36Speaker 1: I tune into are like of beaches somewhere else that
- 7:40Speaker 1: I wish I was. That's the only live stream I
- 7:43Speaker 1: turned into. Is there anything you tune into as far
- 7:45Speaker 1: as live stream?
- 7:47Speaker 3: No, because I just I know that they do those
- 7:50Speaker 3: things for like stadiums, like you said, and stuff like that.
- 7:53Speaker 3: I could not care less. I get the whole like
- 7:56Speaker 3: time lapse thing is cool to see, like for like
- 7:58Speaker 3: forty five seconds or whatever. I'm just I'm cool with
- 8:02Speaker 3: just a picture when it's done. Yeah, So like they'll
- 8:05Speaker 3: have those things up for like months at a time.
- 8:06Speaker 3: I'm like, are people actually like tuning into this?
- 8:08Speaker 1: I don't think so. I think what they're doing is
- 8:10Speaker 1: tuning in when well, like, for instance, I randomly tuned
- 8:15Speaker 1: into one just to see with the Belmont Racetrack looks
- 8:21Speaker 1: like right now, because it's supposed to be almost complete.
- 8:24Speaker 1: I look to see what the Pimlico one it looks
- 8:27Speaker 1: like right now because it's almost supposed to Well no,
- 8:29Speaker 1: it's not even close to being complete, I don't think,
- 8:32Speaker 1: but just to see what they're looking like. But I'm
- 8:34Speaker 1: not checking in every single day. I think it's fun
- 8:36Speaker 1: to see the time lapse though, when they're complete. That's
- 8:39Speaker 1: what I like. You know, in thirty seconds you can
- 8:42Speaker 1: see it go from nothing to all the way up
- 8:44Speaker 1: to a brand new racetrack. I think that's fun. So
- 8:48Speaker 1: you better fix your microphone. There something's going on. But anyway,
- 8:52Speaker 1: let's talk about the big news. I think that happened
- 8:56Speaker 1: yesterday at right after I went to bed. Me if you,
- 9:03Speaker 1: if you, if you're waking up and you hadn't seen
- 9:04Speaker 1: it yet, where have you've been? Milan mom Chilovic. Who
- 9:08Speaker 1: I just I'm just not even coming close to butchering it.
- 9:11Speaker 1: I'm speaking his language. I mean, I am saying his
- 9:14Speaker 1: name so perfectly, and I'm shocked that he committed to
- 9:17Speaker 1: Kentucky so because I can say his name so perfectly.
- 9:20Speaker 1: But yes, Milan mom Chilovic, finally, after letting us sweat
- 9:26Speaker 1: it out for five days, committed to Kentucky about ten
- 9:29Speaker 1: o'clock last night, wasn't it? Did you see what time
- 9:31Speaker 1: it was when he committed?
- 9:33Speaker 3: Ye o'clock ten?
- 9:35Speaker 1: It was, yeah, right when I was going to bed,
- 9:37Speaker 1: and I literally checked, I bet I literally checked every
- 9:41Speaker 1: hour and a half to see if any news had
- 9:44Speaker 1: come up. You know, I didn't hear anything. Nobody had
- 9:47Speaker 1: called me, I you know, my few sources like we
- 9:49Speaker 1: have no idea and uh so, uh nobody knew when
- 9:55Speaker 1: what if? But I think the other funny part is
- 9:59Speaker 1: that lots the people are posting the pictures of Mark
- 10:01Speaker 1: Pope out on the beach, just relaxing and knowing that hey,
- 10:05Speaker 1: here I am. I thought that was funny. Now, Uh
- 10:09Speaker 1: my question to you, are you surprised no where Kentucky's
- 10:16Speaker 1: been sitting outside of the top twenty five. Where will
- 10:20Speaker 1: this put that one? Commit put UK in the top
- 10:24Speaker 1: twenty five or will it?
- 10:26Speaker 3: I don't think it will.
- 10:27Speaker 1: You don't think it will.
- 10:29Speaker 3: I don't think it will.
- 10:30Speaker 1: Too many people have been saying it's going to put
- 10:32Speaker 1: them in the top twenty five. I think it'll put
- 10:33Speaker 1: them around eighteen. I don't think it'll put them like
- 10:37Speaker 1: very far out. I think they'll be in like the
- 10:39Speaker 1: twenty seven to twenty eight range. But I just I
- 10:42Speaker 1: just really don't think before before they landed him, I
- 10:48Speaker 1: think this roster sat around the like fortieth to thirty seven. Like, man, okay,
- 10:54Speaker 1: your rose colored glasses are coming through real bright right.
- 10:58Speaker 3: Now, I'm being honest, Like, Okay, there just aren't really
- 11:01Speaker 3: many wow names on this. I don't think there's really
- 11:04Speaker 3: any wold names on this roster for me. I mean,
- 11:07Speaker 3: Mark Pope missed on a lot of his first guys.
- 11:09Speaker 3: He was looking for Mom Jilovich as his first like
- 11:11Speaker 3: first option. I mean, I guess unless you count Malachimarno
- 11:13Speaker 3: coming back. But yeah, it's one. With this roster and
- 11:18Speaker 3: knowing Mark Pope, I'm gonna have to see it before
- 11:21Speaker 3: I believe it, Like I'm not going to buy in
- 11:22Speaker 3: yet again.
- 11:24Speaker 1: So it's yeah, and see, I understand that standpoint.
- 11:28Speaker 3: So I just physically can't sit here and say that
- 11:30Speaker 3: this is a top twenty five roster before I see
- 11:34Speaker 3: what Mark Pope can do with it.
- 11:38Speaker 1: I agree with you. I think you're being a little
- 11:41Speaker 1: too hard on the UK right now. But I think
- 11:44Speaker 1: it does put them in the fifteen to twenty range.
- 11:47Speaker 1: As far as rankings, I don't think they're as high
- 11:50Speaker 1: without him or as low as without Yeah, it's low
- 11:54Speaker 1: without him. I wouldn't have them at forty that a
- 11:57Speaker 1: lot of people had them just outside, so you know,
- 12:01Speaker 1: top thirty. I don't think top forty. I think that's
- 12:04Speaker 1: a little over. I would have had them round thirty
- 12:07Speaker 1: two to thirty three. Realistically, I'm kind of like you.
- 12:11Speaker 1: I think they barely make the top twenty five, but
- 12:15Speaker 1: I think a lot of people are going to put
- 12:17Speaker 1: them in round that fifteen to twenty range. I'm like
- 12:20Speaker 1: you again, I've got to see more. I've got to
- 12:24Speaker 1: see how this team is going to play before and
- 12:27Speaker 1: I said this to justin last week. I just I
- 12:30Speaker 1: need a little more proof before I buy in on
- 12:32Speaker 1: the team. I'm still hesitating, and it's probably because Matthew,
- 12:36Speaker 1: I'm protecting my heart and you can understand that.
- 12:39Speaker 3: I mean, yeah, of course, I mean this is a
- 12:41Speaker 3: serious turning point for Mark Pope. This is one where
- 12:45Speaker 3: it could be your last season with Kentucky Basketball. It
- 12:48Speaker 3: could be you know, a contract extension of with Kentucky basketball,
- 12:52Speaker 3: depending on how well he does. You know, like, it's
- 12:54Speaker 3: one where in the past ten hours I've already seen
- 13:02Speaker 3: a lot of fans on Twitter almost completely change their way.
- 13:05Speaker 3: They see this transit portal class which freaking tell you basketball,
- 13:08Speaker 3: which is very surprising to me. Uh yeah, we talked
- 13:12Speaker 3: about Mom. Chilovich is a great ad to any basketball
- 13:14Speaker 3: team in the country if you want them. And I'm
- 13:16Speaker 3: not gonna downplay grabbing Mom Chilovich at all. But it
- 13:21Speaker 3: is one of those things where you do kind of
- 13:23Speaker 3: see the the recency bias come out when you do
- 13:26Speaker 3: finally get like a really big guy in the portal,
- 13:28Speaker 3: and it's like every no harm was ever done, you know,
- 13:32Speaker 3: like we're we're back, we're bought in again, We're all here,
- 13:35Speaker 3: and I get there, like there's a lot of you
- 13:36Speaker 3: need something to be excited about. I completely understand that. Yeah,
- 13:39Speaker 3: if like if my favorite team is in the same situation,
- 13:41Speaker 3: I'd probably do the same thing. I just just like you, Michael,
- 13:45Speaker 3: I just can't be bought in at all yet. No,
- 13:48Speaker 3: I need to see like it's some like at some point,
- 13:51Speaker 3: this is a sport. You have to win games. You
- 13:52Speaker 3: have to show that you can do it, and there's
- 13:54Speaker 3: sometimes when you have to show that you can do
- 13:56Speaker 3: it with less than you had the year before, which
- 13:58Speaker 3: I think I think he does. I think last year's
- 14:01Speaker 3: team had a couple better pieces. I think that there
- 14:03Speaker 3: are some better pieces with this team. But I think
- 14:06Speaker 3: it's gonna be I think it's gonna be tough because
- 14:10Speaker 3: he's got to really tough schedule this year, at least
- 14:12Speaker 3: from what it looks like so far. And I'm excited
- 14:15Speaker 3: to see what they do. I'm just not boughting yet.
- 14:17Speaker 1: I well, exactly, I'm not, and I've got to see.
- 14:22Speaker 1: I don't want to see this team get beat by
- 14:24Speaker 1: fifteen to twenty twenty five points like they did against
- 14:27Speaker 1: Gonzaga and a number of other teams. It's like, we
- 14:29Speaker 1: can't have that again. If we start getting these blowouts again,
- 14:33Speaker 1: then yeah, we've got to make a change. But I'm
- 14:38Speaker 1: hoping this is I'm gonna be optimistic, but I'm gonna
- 14:41Speaker 1: be protective as well. I mean, I just I need
- 14:44Speaker 1: to see proof in the pudding before I am all
- 14:46Speaker 1: in again. And yeah, it might take till December January
- 14:50Speaker 1: before I am that's understandable. You're gonna see a lot
- 14:54Speaker 1: of games before then, and that'll be able to say, Okay, uh,
- 15:00Speaker 1: Mark Pope's done a great job or Mark Pope is
- 15:03Speaker 1: just doing an okay job. And if he's doing an
- 15:06Speaker 1: okay job, does he last another year? Especially with the
- 15:09Speaker 1: brand new athletic director. I think that makes it tough.
- 15:13Speaker 1: I think this has to be a very successful year
- 15:16Speaker 1: for Mark Pope to be able to survive at Kentucky
- 15:19Speaker 1: and having Mom Chilovich come to Kentucky is a big
- 15:23Speaker 1: piece of that hopeful success.
- 15:26Speaker 3: Mark Pope has to bare minimum make the Sweet sixteen
- 15:28Speaker 3: if he was.
- 15:29Speaker 1: Another yearn Oh, I couldn't agree more.
- 15:31Speaker 3: And I mean like a competitive Sweet sixteen, not like
- 15:35Speaker 3: you know two years ago when you went in there
- 15:37Speaker 3: and lost to Tennessee about twenty. Like you have to
- 15:39Speaker 3: go in there and be competitive because, like you said,
- 15:41Speaker 3: with a new ass rectrector coming in, what's the first
- 15:44Speaker 3: thing they're gonna want.
- 15:45Speaker 1: Him to do?
- 15:45Speaker 3: If if it goes but poorly, Like, it's gonna be
- 15:47Speaker 3: the same thing with like with U of l w
- 15:48Speaker 3: and Josh Hurd came in, the first thing was like,
- 15:50Speaker 3: oh you get rid of this coach you bring in
- 15:51Speaker 3: Kenny Payne type thing, like as soon as you become
- 15:56Speaker 3: the athletic doctor of Kentucky, the fans are gonna want
- 15:58Speaker 3: you to make a big splash as soon as you
- 16:00Speaker 3: show here, the show that like you're a part of
- 16:02Speaker 3: the situation, you want something to do with it. It's
- 16:05Speaker 3: it's gonna be a big ask for you know, to
- 16:07Speaker 3: get rid of your head coach as soon as you
- 16:08Speaker 3: step in. But if it goes poorly, I don't see him.
- 16:11Speaker 3: Mark Pope getting other pep.
- 16:12Speaker 1: Well, and the athletic director wants his own guys in.
- 16:15Speaker 1: I mean, he didn't want to have to deal with
- 16:17Speaker 1: people that aren't that are doing average at best and
- 16:20Speaker 1: they're not his guys that he brought in. That was
- 16:22Speaker 1: the only only part I was disappointed that. You know,
- 16:27Speaker 1: Mitch Barnhardt's going out the door, and from what I hear,
- 16:29Speaker 1: he's already checked out and he's picking our football coach
- 16:33Speaker 1: now as as it looks right now, he's doing a
- 16:36Speaker 1: great job. And we're gonna talk about football a little
- 16:38Speaker 1: later on. But uh, I like the pick with will
- 16:41Speaker 1: Stein and how successful he's been recruiting wise. But I
- 16:48Speaker 1: you know, with basketball, we got to figure out something else,
- 16:52Speaker 1: and the new athletic director, thank goodness, will be making
- 16:55Speaker 1: that decision within the next year or two. Uh. And
- 16:58Speaker 1: if Mark Pope is not making the Sweet sixteen, yeah,
- 17:02Speaker 1: I'm with you. I think there needs to be a change.
- 17:05Speaker 1: That's that's not me picking on Mark Pope. That's me
- 17:08Speaker 1: picking being realistic, and that's the realistic side of it.
- 17:12Speaker 1: We have to have successful basketball at UK. We can't
- 17:15Speaker 1: be sitting here getting beat by twenty points, barely making
- 17:19Speaker 1: Sweet sixteen, or or or not even making it, not
- 17:23Speaker 1: even making a run in the SEC tournament. I mean,
- 17:26Speaker 1: this is a school that has always dominated the SEC,
- 17:30Speaker 1: and it really hasn't been dominating as of late.
- 17:33Speaker 3: Can I make a point really fast?
- 17:34Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 17:34Speaker 3: Sure, I understand that Kentucky has always dominated the SEC.
- 17:39Speaker 3: It's one of the most dominant teams in college basketball.
- 17:43Speaker 3: That is like an argument that I don't care to
- 17:46Speaker 3: listen to because the SEC used to be terrible, like
- 17:49Speaker 3: it used to be really bad. Oh yeah, d And
- 17:51Speaker 3: that that is too credit to Kentucky. They own that
- 17:53Speaker 3: conference forever. But like it's I'm almost like defending Kentucky
- 17:56Speaker 3: in the sense that I feel like Kentucky fans don't
- 17:59Speaker 3: need to use that ex use because the SEC is
- 18:01Speaker 3: like really good now, you know what I mean.
- 18:02Speaker 1: That's like fair.
- 18:03Speaker 3: I get that they were dominant for so long. Yes,
- 18:06Speaker 3: but like whenever people tell me that, like are like
- 18:10Speaker 3: whether I hear I'll set on Twitter people or if
- 18:12Speaker 3: I'm arguing with something and they say that, I'm like,
- 18:13Speaker 3: do you don't need to defend yourself because I get it, Like,
- 18:17Speaker 3: I know, the SEC is good now, you don't have
- 18:19Speaker 3: to be like, well back then, we used to wait
- 18:20Speaker 3: all the time. I know, man, like I get it.
- 18:22Speaker 1: Yeah, well, they didn't care. The only thing the other
- 18:25Speaker 1: teams cared about was football. And you look at Alabama,
- 18:28Speaker 1: you look at Florida, you look at Arkansas, and they
- 18:34Speaker 1: care about basketball. I look at Vanderbilt for that fact. Vanderbilt,
- 18:39Speaker 1: who would have ever figured if Kentucky's not careful, especially
- 18:44Speaker 1: with the nil And something has to be figured out
- 18:48Speaker 1: because from a few of the sources I'm hearing UK
- 18:51Speaker 1: has lost some players football wise when Stoops was still
- 18:56Speaker 1: here and basketball wise because this whole JMI deal that
- 19:04Speaker 1: those are coming out to me as very much facts.
- 19:07Speaker 1: And the new athletic directors coming in here with a
- 19:10Speaker 1: deal that he didn't have anything to do with, wasn't
- 19:14Speaker 1: a participant, and not only that, probably doesn't want and
- 19:20Speaker 1: so you see a lot of these players go by
- 19:23Speaker 1: the wayside. You gotta look at one thing. It's it's
- 19:26Speaker 1: either the coach or the deal that they have in
- 19:30Speaker 1: contract with JMI that's got Probably he's gonna have to
- 19:33Speaker 1: change and something has to happen. And it's just to
- 19:37Speaker 1: a point where it's ridiculous. You cannot have an outside
- 19:42Speaker 1: entity controlling who you can and can't recruit, and where
- 19:46Speaker 1: that money is going, you just can't have that. They
- 19:49Speaker 1: can't be a part of that. To me, it's just
- 19:51Speaker 1: gotta be something completely separate, and somehow, some way UK's
- 19:55Speaker 1: going to have to try and figure out to get
- 19:56Speaker 1: out of this contract. Otherwise it's going to ruin JMI,
- 20:00Speaker 1: and it's going to ruin me even more so ruined
- 20:02Speaker 1: University Kentucky in it's athletic department.
- 20:05Speaker 3: I mean, I agree. The one thing I keep hearing
- 20:08Speaker 3: people say is like, how is this affecting basketball and
- 20:11Speaker 3: not football? And I for anybody that because football players
- 20:17Speaker 3: don't have the the like the Nike and Adidas deals
- 20:20Speaker 3: that basketball players have, Like basketball players have such a
- 20:22Speaker 3: larger brand themselves because there's fewer of them, right, Yeah,
- 20:25Speaker 3: so many football players out there. So like when you
- 20:27Speaker 3: go out there and you try and get highly tied
- 20:29Speaker 3: of recruits four stars and five stars, these guys play
- 20:32Speaker 3: on the EIBL circuit, they play on the Adidas circuit,
- 20:34Speaker 3: they play in all these different Like these guys are
- 20:36Speaker 3: Nike and Adidas athletes before they even reach high school.
- 20:39Speaker 3: Perfect point, JMI cannot deal with those players because they can't,
- 20:44Speaker 3: like they want to be, like you said, Michael, the
- 20:46Speaker 3: sole entity of their NIL. They want to own the
- 20:49Speaker 3: rights to them. Well, those sponsorships, those players coming to
- 20:53Speaker 3: college aren't allowed to have those anymore. They're going to say, dude,
- 20:55Speaker 3: you can't go to that school. If you want us
- 20:57Speaker 3: to keep you want to keep us as a sponsor,
- 20:58Speaker 3: we can't do a JMI. Full players don't have that,
- 21:01Speaker 3: They don't have that stuff. They just collect a check
- 21:03Speaker 3: and they go play football. That's why so much easier.
- 21:05Speaker 3: So this is one where it's I can't rack my
- 21:10Speaker 3: brain around how Mitch Barnhart was. He had to have
- 21:14Speaker 3: been either getting something on the side from this, or
- 21:16Speaker 3: this deal benefited his salary, or I physically cannot look
- 21:21Speaker 3: at how this deal works and say he as an
- 21:23Speaker 3: asth writit or looked at this and goes, this is
- 21:26Speaker 3: the best fit for the way Kentucky Sports is going
- 21:28Speaker 3: to go for in the future. Right, because it's it's asdine,
- 21:32Speaker 3: It makes no sense. I'm completely confused.
- 21:35Speaker 1: Yeah, because there were players, you're correct, that wanted to
- 21:38Speaker 1: keep this on their own and didn't want to have
- 21:41Speaker 1: to share it with a particular JMI. And guess what
- 21:46Speaker 1: an athletic director said no, we're not doing that. So
- 21:49Speaker 1: there's your proof right there. And if that is the case,
- 21:53Speaker 1: then man, it's time to get rid of that contract.
- 21:55Speaker 1: That's you know, Mitch is on his way out. I'm
- 21:57Speaker 1: not gonna I'm no longer gonna be picking on him
- 22:00Speaker 1: as far as that goes. But U JMI continues to
- 22:03Speaker 1: be there, and somebody's got to speak up about it,
- 22:07Speaker 1: because I don't know if anybody else is going to
- 22:08Speaker 1: speak up about it. But this is not a good
- 22:10Speaker 1: deal for Kentucky. It's a one sided deal and it's
- 22:14Speaker 1: only good for JMI. And JMI has not been to
- 22:16Speaker 1: you good do UK?
- 22:18Speaker 3: I mean, how long is it going for a long time?
- 22:21Speaker 3: Twenty thirty four or something like that or I think
- 22:24Speaker 3: it was like a ten year deal. I don't remember
- 22:26Speaker 3: what it was. But I don't see how you get
- 22:28Speaker 3: out of it.
- 22:29Speaker 1: I don't either. That's the scary.
- 22:31Speaker 3: Part because would you have to buy JMI out of
- 22:33Speaker 3: this contract? And I mean if you do, how much
- 22:35Speaker 3: is that going.
- 22:36Speaker 1: To be way too much? Probably more than they can afford,
- 22:38Speaker 1: especially when you're still paying off Mark Stoops and uh
- 22:44Speaker 1: and a lot of money being lost out there. So
- 22:48Speaker 1: but uh, anyway, we got to take our first break.
- 22:50Speaker 1: Favel two three four fourteen fifty. If you want to
- 22:53Speaker 1: call in Favel two four one four fourteen fifty, you
- 22:55Speaker 1: want to text in on the Whiskey Thief text line,
- 22:57Speaker 1: know you tweek me at just the cat Raider. When
- 22:59Speaker 1: we get back, let's uh, I'll get to your tweets
- 23:02Speaker 1: and uh man, uh, I got all kinds of stuff
- 23:05Speaker 1: to talk about today. So we're we're going to be
- 23:07Speaker 1: getting to got some NBA news, which I found found
- 23:10Speaker 1: to be really interested, got some UK football news potential,
- 23:14Speaker 1: another comment, and then unfortunately the baseball team. We'll talk
- 23:19Speaker 1: about that too a little later. Stay right there. A
- 23:21Speaker 1: lot more just cats coming right up.
- 23:22Speaker 2: Another one busted dust, another one, another one busted dust,
- 23:40Speaker 2: another one busted us, another one busted honey, Wait, you can.
- 24:03Speaker 3: Lost.
- 24:10Speaker 1: I want to let it play. Don't look at me
- 24:11Speaker 1: like that. What's wrong with that? I like the song.
- 24:14Speaker 1: I haven't heard this song in forever. What's that?
- 24:18Speaker 3: So that'scky?
- 24:20Speaker 1: Yeah that's all right, you can turn it off now.
- 24:22Speaker 1: But yeah, that's a great song. There's not really much
- 24:27Speaker 1: music in it. He's just saying another one bites it.
- 24:29Speaker 1: That's the kind of song that you laugh all the
- 24:31Speaker 1: way to the bank. There's not many lyrics and there's
- 24:34Speaker 1: not much music to it, and yet it becomes a
- 24:36Speaker 1: gigantic hit that is still being played, what forty years
- 24:40Speaker 1: of almost fifty years, No, it probably is fifty years later.
- 24:44Speaker 1: That's crazy.
- 24:45Speaker 3: It just sounds good. It does a good beat behind it, Yeah,
- 24:49Speaker 3: a good melody.
- 24:50Speaker 1: Another one Bites the Dust.
- 24:51Speaker 3: It's not really a lot of lyrics, but yeah, no.
- 24:54Speaker 1: There's you don't need you just need to catchy lyric
- 24:56Speaker 1: or two and a couple of instruments boom boom boom
- 25:00Speaker 1: boom boom and a nice beat, and guess what, you're
- 25:03Speaker 1: making all kinds of money off it. And fifty years
- 25:06Speaker 1: later they're still making money off this song.
- 25:09Speaker 3: There's a comment under the song. It's a fun fact.
- 25:11Speaker 3: This song is one hundred beats per minute. If someone
- 25:14Speaker 3: goes into cardiac arrest, you can give chest compressions to
- 25:16Speaker 3: the beat of the song. Oh really, it says it
- 25:19Speaker 3: got me through my CPR certification. But don't sing another
- 25:22Speaker 3: one Bites the Dust out loud. That would be unfortunately, that.
- 25:27Speaker 1: Is so true. Oh my gosh, Cause you know there's
- 25:31Speaker 1: that famous office one where they're trying to learn how
- 25:34Speaker 1: to do CPR and they're using a BEG song. Yes,
- 25:38Speaker 1: not another one bites the Dust they're doing. What is
- 25:42Speaker 1: that song they're doing. I can't think of it. I
- 25:45Speaker 1: forgot what it is. I did too, I completely forgot.
- 25:48Speaker 1: All right, somebody's going to text me in what BG
- 25:50Speaker 1: song were they do in the office for CPR class.
- 25:54Speaker 1: That was a good one. Staying Alive? That's it.
- 25:59Speaker 3: Yeah, that's the yes.
- 26:00Speaker 1: Yeah, a staying Alive. I think another one bites the
- 26:04Speaker 1: Dust is a good one, but I don't care. I'm
- 26:07Speaker 1: singing it out loud because you know what it might
- 26:10Speaker 1: make if I'm one having a heart attack and they
- 26:12Speaker 1: start doing that staying alive or another one bites the dust.
- 26:15Speaker 1: I'm gonna sing it with them, and I'm like, another
- 26:17Speaker 1: one doesn't bite the dust. Oh, I think it'd be fun.
- 26:21Speaker 1: Josh texts it out. Matthew needs a Fedora, laugh out loud. Josh,
- 26:25Speaker 1: you could somehow get me an upper deck Fedora.
- 26:27Speaker 3: On wherever.
- 26:31Speaker 1: You want an upper deck Fedora. I don't think they
- 26:35Speaker 1: do anything like that, do they, As far as embroider
- 26:38Speaker 1: or personalized for doors.
- 26:41Speaker 3: I mean, Josh being the Fedora connoisseur could definitely figure
- 26:44Speaker 3: it out for.
- 26:45Speaker 1: Yeah, he definitely can.
- 26:46Speaker 4: Uh.
- 26:46Speaker 1: The worst hat ever designed, ever made. I was sitting
- 26:49Speaker 1: at Churchill Downs on Sunday, Dora Capital of the World exactly,
- 26:55Speaker 1: and there's a guy there at Churchill Downs that is
- 26:59Speaker 1: on screen and talks about the beds and the horses
- 27:02Speaker 1: and all that kind of stuff, and he's wearing a Fedora.
- 27:04Speaker 1: The two guys next to me start talking about him
- 27:08Speaker 1: and say, somebody needs to grab that hat from that guy,
- 27:12Speaker 1: throw it away, burn it first, and then throw it
- 27:15Speaker 1: away because it looks What is the point of a Fedora.
- 27:20Speaker 1: It doesn't cover your eyes out so you can keep
- 27:23Speaker 1: the sun out of your eyes. I don't understand. It's
- 27:25Speaker 1: just a look. And to me, it's the dumbest look.
- 27:29Speaker 1: I can talk about Fedora's all day. Well, between that
- 27:34Speaker 1: and a fascinator, I'm sorry, ladies, Earth is a fascinator.
- 27:37Speaker 1: I'm sorry, ladies. I don't like fascinators. Those are the
- 27:41Speaker 1: things that ladies that has a band around it and
- 27:44Speaker 1: it stays on your head and it just, uh, it'll
- 27:46Speaker 1: look like a tiny hat to the side, or it'll
- 27:49Speaker 1: be flowers coming out of it. Was called they're called fascinators.
- 27:54Speaker 1: I don't know. I don't know what's worse a fascinator
- 27:58Speaker 1: or a hat. Because my wife is the last two
- 28:00Speaker 1: years to the Derby, she's worn fascinators and she comes
- 28:03Speaker 1: home and shows me him. She goes, I know you're
- 28:04Speaker 1: gonna hate it, and I'm like, well, then why are
- 28:07Speaker 1: you wearing it? Because I like it? And it's like, okay,
- 28:09Speaker 1: wear it. Then if you like it, that's all that matters.
- 28:11Speaker 1: Don't worry about how I feel. I just do not like.
- 28:15Speaker 1: I'm waiting for Joe Lee to text in today, see
- 28:18Speaker 1: if she texts me about fascinators. I just are there
- 28:21Speaker 1: women out there that do not like fascinators? Am I
- 28:23Speaker 1: the only guy that does not like fascinators?
- 28:26Speaker 3: I like hats? Yeah, hats are better.
- 28:31Speaker 1: I think hats are beautiful on women. And why these
- 28:33Speaker 1: whole fascinators They look like uh uh doctor uh doctor
- 28:38Speaker 1: uh not Doolittle, but uh, who's that book that he wrote?
- 28:43Speaker 1: All kinds of children's books, doctor Us, doctor Seuss. That's it.
- 28:48Speaker 1: They look like doctor Seus's characters.
- 28:52Speaker 3: I don't think women would like you compare them doctor SEUs.
- 28:55Speaker 1: Well, sorry, that's I know. You're probably right I mean,
- 28:58Speaker 1: I don't want to offend anybody, but I'm just speak
- 29:00Speaker 1: in my mind. I don't like them, so uh buzz
- 29:03Speaker 1: text it in. He said, I'm told there is a
- 29:06Speaker 1: truck driver GPS, but is very expensive. I didn't know that,
- 29:11Speaker 1: did you know?
- 29:12Speaker 3: But I imagine it's probably not as expensive as getting
- 29:15Speaker 3: your entire trailer redes.
- 29:16Speaker 1: Exactly, so once you know. For I thought the funny
- 29:20Speaker 1: part was the report was at least four trucks had
- 29:24Speaker 1: wrecked there at Third Street Bridge, so that means there's
- 29:28Speaker 1: potentially more. It's like, I just all right, so I
- 29:32Speaker 1: don't know how much a trailer costs. Anyway, it's what
- 29:34Speaker 1: probably thirty forty thousand dollars, do you think?
- 29:37Speaker 3: Probably or more?
- 29:39Speaker 1: When they go through there, and you know they call
- 29:42Speaker 1: it what the cane opener? Can they repair those trailers
- 29:47Speaker 1: to where you can use them again? Or is it
- 29:49Speaker 1: a total loss? That's what I would like to know.
- 29:52Speaker 3: These trailers are between fifty and two hundred and twenty
- 29:55Speaker 3: thousand dollars.
- 29:56Speaker 1: Are you serious?
- 29:58Speaker 3: That's for new used as like forty to eighty new
- 30:02Speaker 3: is one hundred and twenty three Wow?
- 30:04Speaker 1: Okay, so I yeah, I want to know what a
- 30:06Speaker 1: truck driver GPS costs because that's gonna save you. It
- 30:10Speaker 1: can't be more than ten thousand dollars. And what is
- 30:14Speaker 1: a truck driver GPS. I've just I've never heard anything
- 30:17Speaker 1: like that. Uh One, Texter said, Matt needs to see
- 30:20Speaker 1: it to believe it, but thinks Louisville is a title
- 30:24Speaker 1: contender with a coach who hasn't won a top twenty
- 30:27Speaker 1: five game and is completely changing his style this year.
- 30:30Speaker 1: Please get Scoots back on.
- 30:32Speaker 3: Here, so let me explain why how this person I
- 30:39Speaker 3: love this gets all of their knowledge through Twitter because
- 30:42Speaker 3: I have literally never once said they were a title contender.
- 30:45Speaker 3: I've never I was gonna say I didn't think you
- 30:47Speaker 3: had either, even when even on Mike's show, I've never
- 30:50Speaker 3: once said that. I've never I've never put Louisville in
- 30:52Speaker 3: the top ten.
- 30:54Speaker 1: Has Michael Rutherford ever said this is a title contending team?
- 30:58Speaker 3: No, he hasn't. Right where I have him around like
- 30:59Speaker 3: twelve thirteen, does he?
- 31:01Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 31:02Speaker 3: I mean I think that, like they have the talent
- 31:05Speaker 3: to compete, But at the same time, I have the
- 31:08Speaker 3: same exact worries that everybody else does. Is I mean
- 31:11Speaker 3: Pat Kelsey is doing an entire philosophy shift because he's
- 31:14Speaker 3: in the same situation that Mark Pope is is like,
- 31:17Speaker 3: how long does Pat Kelsey have to try and win here?
- 31:19Speaker 3: Not a long?
- 31:20Speaker 1: That's what I want to know. Who's to me? I'm
- 31:23Speaker 1: all right, I know what Justin's answer was, and I'm
- 31:26Speaker 1: not going to tell you what it was. But with you, Matthew,
- 31:29Speaker 1: who's on the hot seat more this upcoming year? Who
- 31:33Speaker 1: has to succeed right now to be able to feel
- 31:37Speaker 1: comfortable that they have a job the following year or
- 31:39Speaker 1: the year after that.
- 31:39Speaker 3: Oh, it's still more Pope, it is.
- 31:41Speaker 1: Why do you think that.
- 31:42Speaker 3: It's Mark Pope? Because one, Kentucky fans are more desperate
- 31:47Speaker 3: to win right now than I think Lowell fans are
- 31:50Speaker 3: as well. They've been out for a long time. But
- 31:51Speaker 3: I feel like the issue with the situation at Louisville
- 31:54Speaker 3: is that it's kind of sad to say, is it's
- 31:57Speaker 3: kind of set in that like, oh my gosh, we're
- 31:59Speaker 3: going through this psych right now. We really need Pat
- 32:01Speaker 3: Kelsey to win right now. But there's a lot more
- 32:03Speaker 3: leeway because they've been out of the game for so long,
- 32:05Speaker 3: Whereas like Kentucky fans are petrified that they're gonna become
- 32:09Speaker 3: like the next Louisoe or the next Indiana, next Indiana,
- 32:12Speaker 3: where you're like going through this coaching cycle over and
- 32:15Speaker 3: over and over again trying to find the right guy.
- 32:16Speaker 3: So they need to win right now, and they're willing
- 32:18Speaker 3: to get him out as fast as possible because of
- 32:20Speaker 3: their standards. The situation at Louisville isn't entirely different. I
- 32:25Speaker 3: think that they're still like they're in a very very
- 32:26Speaker 3: similar place of like coaches on the hot seat with
- 32:29Speaker 3: pressure on them. But I think Pat Kelsey's for a
- 32:32Speaker 3: different reason. Whereas like, I don't think you obviously spent
- 32:36Speaker 3: a lucrative amount of money this season. We all everybody
- 32:38Speaker 3: knows that if you can't get it done, if I
- 32:41Speaker 3: get it done, I mean like Sweet sixteen, Elite eight,
- 32:44Speaker 3: you know, showing that you're progressing. You don't have to
- 32:46Speaker 3: make a Final four, win a national championship this year,
- 32:49Speaker 3: but to show you're progressing and you know, beat some
- 32:51Speaker 3: decent top twenty five teams. That money's not gonna flow
- 32:54Speaker 3: it anymore, like they're gonna put it toward football. They're
- 32:56Speaker 3: gonna put towards something else, and they're gonna because I
- 32:58Speaker 3: don't think they can afford to fire guy like pack
- 32:59Speaker 3: Kelseie just yet and you know, go through that whole process.
- 33:03Speaker 3: But yeah, if you want to keep the money going,
- 33:04Speaker 3: that's where Pat Kelsey's presial right.
- 33:06Speaker 1: Let me job, Let me because you know you've gone
- 33:08Speaker 1: you You endured Chris Mack, you endured Kenny Payne, and
- 33:13Speaker 1: now you're going through Pat Kelsey. If Pat Kelsey wins
- 33:17Speaker 1: only one game in the tournament next season, Mark Pope
- 33:21Speaker 1: makes the Sweet sixteen, who's on the hot seat?
- 33:27Speaker 3: Who won the little Kentucky game?
- 33:29Speaker 1: You think that matters.
- 33:30Speaker 3: I think it matters a lot.
- 33:31Speaker 1: I don't think it matters to me. In my mind,
- 33:33Speaker 1: it doesn't matter all.
- 33:34Speaker 3: Oh I know to you, Michael, it doesn't.
- 33:36Speaker 1: It doesn't.
- 33:36Speaker 3: But like for this situation, if Mark Pope wins that
- 33:41Speaker 3: game and you defend your home court for another year,
- 33:45Speaker 3: Sweet sixteen is enough for Mark Pope to be fine.
- 33:49Speaker 3: Pat Kelsey is on the hot seat immediately if.
- 33:51Speaker 1: He If Pat Kelsey and U of L win the
- 33:53Speaker 1: game between UK U of L but only wins one
- 33:56Speaker 1: game in the tournament, you think he survives.
- 33:58Speaker 3: If Mark Pope lose yes in Lexington to Pat Kelsey. Yeah,
- 34:03Speaker 3: only makes the Sweet sixteen, he's fired and Pat.
- 34:07Speaker 1: Kelsey keeps his job for only winning one game in
- 34:09Speaker 1: the tournament barely.
- 34:11Speaker 3: I mean, I mean, I'm surprised by that answer from you.
- 34:14Speaker 3: And that doesn't that doesn't mean that I think it's okay.
- 34:16Speaker 3: That doesn't mean I'm accepting of it. That just means,
- 34:18Speaker 3: like I understand the situation that U of L is
- 34:20Speaker 3: in right now. I don't think they'd fire now. He'd
- 34:23Speaker 3: be like Pat, you're not getting as much money next year,
- 34:26Speaker 3: You're going to show that you can do with less
- 34:27Speaker 3: this and that. I don't think he's fired though, Yeah,
- 34:30Speaker 3: I think he's here, but it's a very lackluster season.
- 34:33Speaker 1: See, and I'll test your your your questioning me as
- 34:36Speaker 1: far as it doesn't matter to me. Like, for instance,
- 34:39Speaker 1: another rival to me is the University of Tennessee. We've
- 34:43Speaker 1: swept in the last two years. I think that's a
- 34:45Speaker 1: nice perk. I want to win in the tournament. It's
- 34:50Speaker 1: nice to see that you're beating these teams. It's nice
- 34:52Speaker 1: to beat Duke, it's nice to beat u of L.
- 34:57Speaker 1: But I want to go further. If I lost all
- 35:00Speaker 1: those games and won a title of that year. I
- 35:03Speaker 1: don't care about those games. I love that we won
- 35:07Speaker 1: a title. That's what I care about. And again, I
- 35:12Speaker 1: wouldn't care if we lost to U of L, Duke, Tennessee,
- 35:18Speaker 1: Arkansas for that fact, But if we won a title,
- 35:21Speaker 1: hey man, all's forgiven. I don't care.
- 35:24Speaker 3: I mean, yeah, that's that's an I think that's an
- 35:26Speaker 3: opinion everybody get behind. But at the same time, yes,
- 35:29Speaker 3: if you lost all those games you want a title,
- 35:31Speaker 3: who gives a crap? If you lost those games you
- 35:33Speaker 3: won the national title. But those games also are significant
- 35:37Speaker 3: pieces to your season that help you get a gauge
- 35:40Speaker 3: on how this team will play. If you can beat Louisville,
- 35:42Speaker 3: if you can beat Duke, if you can beat Tennessee,
- 35:44Speaker 3: you know you're a title contending team. If you're losing
- 35:47Speaker 3: to all those teams, yes, if you win the title,
- 35:50Speaker 3: that's fine. Yeah, but that's a point zero zero one
- 35:53Speaker 3: percent chance of possibly happening. You're right, So it's like, yes, like,
- 35:58Speaker 3: if we we could lose eleven games in the season,
- 36:02Speaker 3: but we won a national title, I don't care anymore.
- 36:04Speaker 3: Who cares we lost eleven games We wore exactly, So like, yeah,
- 36:07Speaker 3: so it's one of those ways.
- 36:08Speaker 1: That's why when you say who won the game, who
- 36:10Speaker 1: cares it?
- 36:12Speaker 3: But that's the point is like you're putting it down
- 36:14Speaker 3: to a situation that has a point, you know, repeating
- 36:18Speaker 3: zero zero one percent chance of happening. I'm thinking of
- 36:21Speaker 3: what is the bare minimum that could happen to save
- 36:24Speaker 3: Mark Pope's job, and it's winning that Louisvill game. Mmm,
- 36:29Speaker 3: because you I think last year you lose the Missouri
- 36:31Speaker 3: at home, the first time you lost the Missouri like
- 36:34Speaker 3: a win. I don't remember how long it was. Yeah,
- 36:36Speaker 3: you haven't beaten or sorry, you haven't lost to Louisville
- 36:38Speaker 3: at home since two thousand and eight. You had a
- 36:41Speaker 3: horrendous transfer portal class up until you know last night. Yes,
- 36:46Speaker 3: well I wouldn't say horrendous, but I mean you you
- 36:48Speaker 3: missed average. You missed on average is a good I'll
- 36:51Speaker 3: give you average. I'll give you average. If you were
- 36:56Speaker 3: to lose that game at home and have a another
- 37:00Speaker 3: average season, Mark Pope might be fired by January.
- 37:05Speaker 1: I doubt that.
- 37:06Speaker 3: Like if you have a if you have a bad
- 37:08Speaker 3: out of conference, yeah, and then you lose that game
- 37:10Speaker 3: at home, Mark Pope might be gone before we believe.
- 37:13Speaker 1: I just don't believe that will happen. But I think
- 37:16Speaker 1: they would still wait till the end of the season
- 37:18Speaker 1: see how he does in the sec SO, especially with
- 37:20Speaker 1: a brand new athletic director. Now, if it was Mitch Barnhart,
- 37:23Speaker 1: and maybe, but I still doubt it. Uh, that's that
- 37:26Speaker 1: was Mark, Mitch Barnhart's higher I mean he Mitch Barnhardt
- 37:29Speaker 1: had a trait of being patient with coaches. If he
- 37:33Speaker 1: was that way, and and UH would have shotgun.
- 37:38Speaker 3: Uh Stoops?
- 37:42Speaker 1: Uh, well shotgun as far as UH decision making, he
- 37:47Speaker 1: would have gotten rid of Stoops long before keeping him
- 37:50Speaker 1: the way he did. He would have we wouldn't have
- 37:53Speaker 1: seen that Mississippi State game where they had a field
- 37:57Speaker 1: goal that won a football game against them and kept
- 38:00Speaker 1: Mark Soups in place. We would have never seen that
- 38:02Speaker 1: ten win season, which doesn't exist anymore. But neither does
- 38:06Speaker 1: the title for U of l SO anyway. But uh uh.
- 38:09Speaker 1: One person's asking, do we know if there will be
- 38:12Speaker 1: a new morning person from seventy eight? Do we have
- 38:15Speaker 1: to keep listening to Vision jam boys?
- 38:19Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 38:20Speaker 2: You.
- 38:22Speaker 1: Yeah, I get the feeling that the answer is no,
- 38:26Speaker 1: You're gonna have to keep listening to the Visit jam Boys.
- 38:28Speaker 1: Is that really their name?
- 38:30Speaker 3: It's it's Visa and it's like they're there. It's a
- 38:33Speaker 3: betting company.
- 38:35Speaker 1: Have you listened to it?
- 38:36Speaker 3: I mean like, if my radio is already on, yeah,
- 38:39Speaker 3: like I'm not like intently tuning in, but if my
- 38:41Speaker 3: radio is on, I'm not really I'll just leave it.
- 38:43Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah. One person said I'm gonna miss Corey Saane
- 38:47Speaker 1: sucket Scoots. Man, I didn't even think about that. Ah, okay, yeah,
- 38:55Speaker 1: you're right about that, so maybe he'll say it anyway.
- 38:58Speaker 1: But uh, I can hear you all on YouTube staying alive.
- 39:02Speaker 1: Thank you. I appreciate you saying that I've never won
- 39:05Speaker 1: one and I'm a forty ish old lady. Oh Jamie's
- 39:12Speaker 1: a lady. I didn't know that. Oh she's never worn
- 39:16Speaker 1: a fascinator. Well is it because you don't like it, Jamie?
- 39:24Speaker 1: Or is it because you just haven't worn one? So
- 39:28Speaker 1: that would be my question right there. But good text
- 39:30Speaker 1: on the I'm gonna miss Corey saying suck at Scoots.
- 39:33Speaker 1: One person texted out, Matt needs to see it to
- 39:37Speaker 1: believe it. But no, I'm sorry. Mark Pope will be
- 39:41Speaker 1: fired by January. There's no scenario that is the case.
- 39:45Speaker 1: If you're going to replace Scoots, can this guy at
- 39:48Speaker 1: least keep it realistic?
- 39:50Speaker 3: I didn't. That's not even what I said. That is
- 39:53Speaker 3: literally not even what I.
- 39:57Speaker 1: Love. How this guy's really coming after you, dude, is
- 40:00Speaker 1: literally just he's not even quoting actual quotes. In all fairness,
- 40:07Speaker 1: you are right, Matthew, but uh, I do think it's
- 40:10Speaker 1: funny he's coming after you like that makes me smile.
- 40:13Speaker 3: This person also said Big doesn't realize how good of
- 40:16Speaker 3: a decision was to get rid of Roman and matt
- 40:19Speaker 3: Just brutal analysis from those two. Good Glad you're back, Trevor.
- 40:22Speaker 3: The fan's got nothing on you.
- 40:26Speaker 1: I missed that was that, Okay, I must miss from
- 40:28Speaker 1: yesterday that it was okay, the UK roster is as
- 40:32Speaker 1: good as U of L maybe better. Can U of
- 40:35Speaker 1: L even score maybe better? Huh maybe better? Is crazy?
- 40:40Speaker 3: This This is what I was saying. This is the
- 40:43Speaker 3: recency bias of eight hours ago. You get malam chill
- 40:46Speaker 3: nine hours ago, nine literally nine hours ago, people everybody
- 40:50Speaker 3: on Twitter was losing their mind of like, if we
- 40:52Speaker 3: don't get Milan, I'm out. I'm doing this. We can't
- 40:55Speaker 3: you can't look. I have said multiple times, Mala Momchilvia
- 40:59Speaker 3: is a great player, and he is a great addition
- 41:01Speaker 3: to any team in the country. He's the best shooter
- 41:03Speaker 3: in college basketball. I understand he can't score off the dribble.
- 41:07Speaker 3: He can't defend anybody. He is not a guy who's
- 41:10Speaker 3: gonna go out there and raise Kentucky to a Final fourteen.
- 41:13Speaker 3: I think that that team will be good. I think
- 41:16Speaker 3: they'll be fine. But if we're gonna sit here and
- 41:21Speaker 3: push this propaganda that this is now like a final
- 41:23Speaker 3: four roster, we are out of our.
- 41:26Speaker 1: Listen, We're going to the Final four. I can't wait
- 41:28Speaker 1: for this team. Oh you got a little bit. Big
- 41:31Speaker 1: Blue Nation has woken up and I love this. All right,
- 41:33Speaker 1: we got I'm late for a break, Arna, Yes, okay,
- 41:37Speaker 1: I've lost track of this show completely. I've loved these texts,
- 41:39Speaker 1: and please keep for up singing me these texts right here.
- 41:43Speaker 1: If I w two four, one, four, fourteen fifties, stay
- 41:45Speaker 1: right there. Pick on Matt Day. I love this. It
- 41:48Speaker 1: was supposed to be nice day yesterday, but now we're
- 41:50Speaker 1: picking on Matt Day. Have you ever taken the class
- 42:26Speaker 1: to learn how to do CPR.
- 42:28Speaker 3: Yeah, I had to take it when I was working
- 42:29Speaker 3: in childcare.
- 42:30Speaker 1: Oh, I didn't know you were in childcare. This is
- 42:33Speaker 1: brand new. Yeah.
- 42:34Speaker 3: When I was a senior in high school, work in childcare,
- 42:36Speaker 3: work for the y m C. I well, and for
- 42:38Speaker 3: what reason, I did the after school program. So like
- 42:41Speaker 3: with the kids who like their parents worked late or whatever,
- 42:44Speaker 3: they would stay a school and I would watch them.
- 42:46Speaker 3: I just did it because I wanted to. Like, I
- 42:49Speaker 3: liked it.
- 42:50Speaker 1: You did like it.
- 42:52Speaker 3: I loved it.
- 42:53Speaker 1: Did you bully a lot of them?
- 42:55Speaker 3: I mean not all of them?
- 42:58Speaker 1: So you did? And that's the That's probably the part
- 43:00Speaker 1: of the job you enjoyed the most, wasn't it.
- 43:02Speaker 3: They were like seven, Yeah, they bullied me more than
- 43:05Speaker 3: I bullied them.
- 43:07Speaker 1: You played basketball. It was the only time you could
- 43:09Speaker 1: really slam it, uh, you know, in stuff them or
- 43:12Speaker 1: anything like that. Is that right?
- 43:13Speaker 3: Actually? There was. So we had like a time so
- 43:16Speaker 3: I had my own class of like thirty kids, okay,
- 43:18Speaker 3: and every single by yourself. Yeah wow, And like every
- 43:22Speaker 3: single day we would either go outside or we would
- 43:24Speaker 3: go on a trip in the summertime or like I
- 43:26Speaker 3: was I was basically like an assistant teacher. For a while,
- 43:29Speaker 3: and one day it was raining outside, so they had
- 43:32Speaker 3: like free play in the gym, which I'm in there.
- 43:34Speaker 3: They can do whatever they want, you know, I'll play
- 43:36Speaker 3: with the kids or whatever. Well, this one kid had
- 43:39Speaker 3: like a crush on this girl in his class, so
- 43:41Speaker 3: he asked me if I played basketball with him, and
- 43:43Speaker 3: I was like yeah, sure. So like I'm letting the kids,
- 43:45Speaker 3: I'm letting the kids shoot around. I'm pretending he's getting
- 43:48Speaker 3: by me every time.
- 43:49Speaker 1: Oh, letting him look.
- 43:50Speaker 3: Good, I am. I'm letting him look good. I know
- 43:52Speaker 3: he likes he told me or whatever before the other
- 43:54Speaker 3: a couple of years ago. Yeah, he starts talking crap
- 43:57Speaker 3: to me, trying to look really cool. He's like I'm
- 44:00Speaker 3: only seven and I'm beating you, mister Matt, like, oh,
- 44:02Speaker 3: this is awesome. And I'm letting him. I'm like whatever,
- 44:05Speaker 3: that's fine. Yeah, and then he starts like really going
- 44:08Speaker 3: in on me and like starts laughing. I like this kid,
- 44:13Speaker 3: So I go and so I'm like, okay, let's let's
- 44:16Speaker 3: play first one to five. The goals are like six foot.
- 44:21Speaker 3: He's like easy, I already got like ten. I'm like, okay,
- 44:26Speaker 3: I have let this kid like blow by me every
- 44:28Speaker 3: time for ten and he's broken my ankles. Like the
- 44:31Speaker 3: first time he drives in, I send this dude stuff
- 44:33Speaker 3: into the hole way And his response was, we're playing
- 44:38Speaker 3: make it, take it. I score five points and send
- 44:40Speaker 3: them off. Please tell me. He didn't go crying to
- 44:44Speaker 3: his mom. No, but he was embarrassed. I was you
- 44:47Speaker 3: embarrassed though, Well he didn't get the girl. Sorry, ah,
- 44:51Speaker 3: that's cruel. We got to humble these kids. I'm sorry.
- 44:53Speaker 3: I'm oh boy, bad parents, and you got your kid
- 44:55Speaker 3: acting like that. Sorry, not in my gym, not in
- 44:58Speaker 3: my gym, not my class.
- 45:00Speaker 1: Okay, all right then yeah, uh but uh all right then,
- 45:04Speaker 1: well hopefully you you were nice to other kids out there,
- 45:07Speaker 1: but I don't see you doing something like.
- 45:10Speaker 3: I was nice to the kid the whole time.
- 45:11Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, but then you put him in his place.
- 45:14Speaker 3: What he was trying to show off in front of
- 45:15Speaker 3: the put in his place?
- 45:17Speaker 1: All right?
- 45:17Speaker 3: Then you got to understand you like, if somebody gives
- 45:20Speaker 3: you some help, if they give you a foot, you
- 45:21Speaker 3: can't take a mile. You get a foot.
- 45:23Speaker 1: By the way, the uh jmideal, it's through to twenty
- 45:27Speaker 1: forty Jesus, Yeah, yeah, so it's another fourteen years of
- 45:31Speaker 1: that contract, four hundred and fifty seven million.
- 45:34Speaker 3: I just keep looking back as like somebody had to
- 45:36Speaker 3: look at Mitch Barnhart and say, hey man, maybe like
- 45:38Speaker 3: we shouldn't do this, even if like it sounds good,
- 45:43Speaker 3: fourteen years of any contract is it's not good. It
- 45:46Speaker 3: is ridiculous.
- 45:47Speaker 1: But keep in mind that's a gentleman that also had
- 45:49Speaker 1: a lifetime contract for John Caliperry and kind of on
- 45:53Speaker 1: our way with Mark Stoops. So, uh no, it's that
- 45:57Speaker 1: doesn't surprise me. Uh, it's unfortun now. Uh the question is, uh,
- 46:02Speaker 1: you know, Mark Pope has a still an open vacancy
- 46:06Speaker 1: as far as assistant coaches on the staff, any chance
- 46:10Speaker 1: because now the reason Jamal Crawford wasn't able to join
- 46:14Speaker 1: in it and take the job because his NBA broadcasting
- 46:18Speaker 1: gig was still going on. That's up. Now, is there
- 46:22Speaker 1: any chance that Jamal Crawford joins the staff at University Kentucky?
- 46:30Speaker 3: I mean maybe, I guess, I don't. I know. The
- 46:34Speaker 3: whole swing was to have him joined to get Tyran Stokes.
- 46:38Speaker 3: That was part of it. That doesn't really happen. So no,
- 46:41Speaker 3: it's where it's like is it worth Like, could you
- 46:45Speaker 3: go out and find somebody better and more equipped?
- 46:48Speaker 1: Well, his son j J. Crawford, it's one of the
- 46:50Speaker 1: top of the twenty twenty nine class. But oh is
- 46:53Speaker 1: he that's yeah, it's got down the road. That's way
- 46:55Speaker 1: down the road though it is it is And if
- 46:58Speaker 1: that's your play is like, that's what you want them? No,
- 47:01Speaker 1: I don't think you got that higher. No, I think
- 47:03Speaker 1: you called it right. It was most of it was
- 47:05Speaker 1: because of Tyrone Stokes and hopefully he could help bring
- 47:08Speaker 1: Tyron Stokes into play, but unfortunately that was a swinging
- 47:12Speaker 1: and the miss didn't happen. But I don't know a
- 47:14Speaker 1: lot of people have been talking about Jamal Crawford coming
- 47:16Speaker 1: to Kentucky. He's always wanted to get into coaching.
- 47:19Speaker 3: So yeah, I don't know. I don't I don't know anything.
- 47:21Speaker 3: I was coaching background, so I don't know like what
- 47:24Speaker 3: he had, like what his accolades are. But I'd have
- 47:27Speaker 3: to know what the true reasoning behind just bringing Jamal
- 47:29Speaker 3: Crawford in it.
- 47:30Speaker 1: Yeah, Josh checked it out with Trevor back and Scoots
- 47:34Speaker 1: and Roman gone. The budget being what it is. I
- 47:38Speaker 1: bet Trevor's pay is solely beef and cheddars. I hate
- 47:43Speaker 1: to tell you, Josh, I appreciate it because I know
- 47:46Speaker 1: it's a joke. I don't know Trevor. Do you know
- 47:48Speaker 1: Trevor before yesterday? I only talked to him once. We
- 47:51Speaker 1: also have to oh we do okay, Oh, sorry about that. Okay,
- 47:55Speaker 1: all right, we got to go to hour two, so
- 47:57Speaker 1: stay right there. A lot more Hour two come up,
- 47:59Speaker 1: and I'm hoping Corey's coming in, but I haven't heard
- 48:01Speaker 1: from him yet, so we'll see him in. This is
- 48:03Speaker 1: Just a Cat. Welcome to Just the Cats with Michael Bennett.
- 48:25Speaker 1: All right now number two of Just the Cats. If
- 48:27Speaker 1: you want to join us, you can do it in
- 48:28Speaker 1: five O two three four fourteen fifty. If you want
- 48:31Speaker 1: to text us, you can do that five two four
- 48:33Speaker 1: one four fourteen fifty. Or you can tweet me at
- 48:37Speaker 1: Just the Cat Radio. Uh. I'll get to the text
- 48:41Speaker 1: back the uh when we're done here. But that's a
- 48:47Speaker 1: terrible way to say. I'll get them in just a
- 48:49Speaker 1: little bit, not when we're done here. But you know,
- 48:52Speaker 1: we're getting ready to have on my good friend cause
- 48:54Speaker 1: you know, uh, uh, Matthew, you know what today is,
- 48:57Speaker 1: don't you.
- 48:58Speaker 4: Oh?
- 48:58Speaker 3: I don't know where that audio is. Nobody Justin has
- 49:03Speaker 3: never told me where that is. Is that like he
- 49:06Speaker 3: looks it up or is he?
- 49:07Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, this is this is so sad.
- 49:12Speaker 4: I've never known where that hold on is? Okay, yeah,
- 49:15Speaker 4: you're supposed to play U what is it? Back in time?
- 49:19Speaker 4: But I guess this is This is terrible radio right now.
- 49:24Speaker 3: I'm sorry. I've never known where he got there. It's okay,
- 49:26Speaker 3: but uh, anyway, hold on wait oh one two? I
- 49:30Speaker 3: think I found it.
- 49:30Speaker 1: Okay, because you know.
- 49:32Speaker 3: What today is, Matthew, don't hold on hold on your
- 49:34Speaker 3: fire off flo really just just give me a second.
- 49:37Speaker 3: This is an old computer. She's loading up. Oh boy,
- 49:39Speaker 3: you got a warm revel. Okay, yeah, you's gotta be
- 49:42Speaker 3: wind and done.
- 49:43Speaker 1: Uh huh okay, okay, here we go.
- 49:45Speaker 3: Okay, okay, now you're good.
- 49:46Speaker 1: Oh perfect, you know what day it is? Oh gosh,
- 49:50Speaker 1: this is terrible. I mean, it's just too late at
- 49:53Speaker 1: this point.
- 49:54Speaker 3: Well, now we're gonna listen to all thirty seconds and
- 49:56Speaker 3: how they're playing it.
- 49:57Speaker 1: Oh, we are going to listen to all thirty second
- 49:59Speaker 1: guys like you're supposed to do this too. You're supposed
- 50:02Speaker 1: to put your hand up and all right, there we go.
- 50:06Speaker 1: I'm not justin Corey Price, no, thank goodness, and you're
- 50:08Speaker 1: not Corey Price. How are you doing?
- 50:11Speaker 4: I'm doing okay. It's uh it's kind of sad that
- 50:15Speaker 4: Scoots and Romans are gone, but I agree we've got
- 50:19Speaker 4: Matt here, which he's a good guy.
- 50:21Speaker 1: Yeah. I talked to Justin yesterday and he was in
- 50:24Speaker 1: a very good mood and got to play golf yesterday.
- 50:27Speaker 1: So it's just like, yeah, did the first question have
- 50:31Speaker 1: his mouth? Did you buys say anything about me? It's like,
- 50:34Speaker 1: of course they did. Justin. All of them said sucking
- 50:37Speaker 1: Scoots get out of here, didn't they?
- 50:40Speaker 4: Scoots loves himself some some Scoots. Yes he does, and
- 50:44Speaker 4: I love that was the first question. Did anybody ask
- 50:46Speaker 4: about me?
- 50:47Speaker 3: No more Scoots and tuts.
- 50:49Speaker 1: That's the part I hate the most right there, because
- 50:52Speaker 1: as soon as I retired, I wanted this show to
- 50:54Speaker 1: be Scoots and Toots. That's exactly what I want. You're
- 50:58Speaker 1: leaving town. He's wing is like, okay, no Scoots and twos? Oh, wellful,
- 51:04Speaker 1: it is shameful. But are you doing okay? Otherwise?
- 51:08Speaker 4: Uh? I mean last night?
- 51:10Speaker 3: What now?
- 51:11Speaker 4: I mean, last night was the uh opposite in the
- 51:15Speaker 4: emotions for uko.
- 51:16Speaker 1: All right, let's let's before you get into it, let's
- 51:19Speaker 1: talk about it for a second, because that is one
- 51:21Speaker 1: of the topics. And you know you're a big baseball
- 51:23Speaker 1: fan of your versus Kentucky, But to me, that was
- 51:26Speaker 1: an absolute epic fail of a season right there. You're
- 51:30Speaker 1: up nine to six the night before, could have eliminated
- 51:34Speaker 1: West Virginia two nights ago, and then you end up
- 51:37Speaker 1: blowing that because pitching is just horrific and that's the
- 51:42Speaker 1: one thing, and then you end up losing. Last night,
- 51:44Speaker 1: they were you know, at least they tried to come back.
- 51:47Speaker 1: They were down what five to one, six to one
- 51:49Speaker 1: in the eighth inning, five to one, all right, five
- 51:51Speaker 1: to one. Then they come back t taking the extra
- 51:54Speaker 1: innings and they lose.
- 51:55Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 51:56Speaker 1: The one thing that this team has to do, and
- 51:59Speaker 1: I'm talking to Nick Minjon and he knows this, they
- 52:03Speaker 1: have to improve pitching. And if that means getting rid
- 52:06Speaker 1: of a baseball uh pitching coach, then that's what they
- 52:09Speaker 1: gotta do. But pitching has been just in a real
- 52:12Speaker 1: failure this year for it and been the death of
- 52:15Speaker 1: this team this year. Well, What was most frustrating about
- 52:19Speaker 1: the game on Sunday night was that the bullpen has
- 52:23Speaker 1: been absolutely atrocious all season. Yes, but from like the
- 52:28Speaker 1: third inning or third or fourth thing to the start
- 52:31Speaker 1: of the ninth inning, the bullpen was actually great.
- 52:34Speaker 4: Yeah. Uh and then now at Cock kind of I
- 52:38Speaker 4: don't know, obviously the play at third where Cloud couldn't
- 52:44Speaker 4: get get a hold of the ball and that started
- 52:46Speaker 4: to start the whole thing. And then last night, uh,
- 52:50Speaker 4: it was it was frustrating again because we had done
- 52:55Speaker 4: so much to to get back into it. Back to
- 52:57Speaker 4: back home runs. You feel like we have everything going
- 53:00Speaker 4: on on our side, We get extras, the bullpen once
- 53:05Speaker 4: again has been doing pretty good, and then once again
- 53:09Speaker 4: just you know, it sucks, but uh it does.
- 53:12Speaker 1: And the other part that sucks UK win Owen eight
- 53:17Speaker 1: in rubber matches this year. That's that's a bad stat
- 53:20Speaker 1: right there. Owen eight.
- 53:23Speaker 4: No no excuse, it's just, uh, it's so frustrated. How
- 53:27Speaker 4: many close losses this year. You know, you you you
- 53:31Speaker 4: can play the what if game all day, but you know,
- 53:35Speaker 4: if a handful of those going uh the other way,
- 53:39Speaker 4: one we're probably hosting.
- 53:42Speaker 1: Oh yeah, definitely, And maybe it's completely different than we
- 53:45Speaker 1: don't have to hear country roads and all that crap.
- 53:47Speaker 1: That's just just like, oh my gosh, I had to
- 53:48Speaker 1: turn it off. I mean I turned it off, uh
- 53:54Speaker 1: Sunday night, and then I turned it off last night.
- 53:57Speaker 1: It's like I can't take this. I mean, a bunch
- 53:59Speaker 1: of stinking, toothless red necks up in West Virginia. So
- 54:02Speaker 1: there you go. How you like that?
- 54:04Speaker 4: And then about half an hour later, basketball gets the
- 54:08Speaker 4: best news of this entire off season with.
- 54:10Speaker 1: Oh I went to bed, so I didn't know about
- 54:11Speaker 1: it last night. I found out about it six o'clock
- 54:14Speaker 1: this morning, came out around ten, and uh yeah.
- 54:18Speaker 4: Uh it's, with a question, Pope's biggest win this this
- 54:22Speaker 4: off season. So yes, clearly it's, you know, a little
- 54:26Speaker 4: bright spot after the awful loss in baseball.
- 54:29Speaker 1: So it was it made me feel good. I was.
- 54:32Speaker 1: I was really sad for the baseball team because I
- 54:34Speaker 1: know there's a lot of dedicated baseball UK baseball fans
- 54:37Speaker 1: out there, and I hated that It's gonna be fun.
- 54:39Speaker 1: We were gonna go to a super regional and every
- 54:42Speaker 1: Louisville station is gonna have to talk about UK baseball
- 54:44Speaker 1: because they never cover UK Baseball.
- 54:47Speaker 4: And the crazy thing is they will play against cal
- 54:49Speaker 4: Pauly in the Supers, which on paper you think got
- 54:52Speaker 4: a good shot, and then if they were to win
- 54:54Speaker 4: the Supers based on all the all the other upsets,
- 54:57Speaker 4: they will play the winner of Arkansas, Little Rock and
- 55:01Speaker 4: Troy in the opening round of the College World.
- 55:04Speaker 1: On you with that far? Oh boy, I mean you're
- 55:06Speaker 1: really hurting. The path was open and yeah, yeah it
- 55:10Speaker 1: didn't happen, so.
- 55:11Speaker 3: I can get done, all right?
- 55:12Speaker 1: Well, what's going on this week?
- 55:14Speaker 4: Sweek is May thirty first through June sixth first one
- 55:18Speaker 4: is for Scoots. May thirty first, two thousand. The reality
- 55:23Speaker 4: series Survivor airs this first episode on TV. I tho
- 55:26Speaker 4: Scoots loved to watching Survivor, he might still love watching
- 55:29Speaker 4: Love's passed.
- 55:31Speaker 1: Exactly we are. I'm guilty of it too. We're talking
- 55:34Speaker 1: like the guy's dead. He's he's home, probably sleeping right now.

- 1:04:51Speaker 1: Did I mention Malkovich? I love that guy. He is
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: just bizarre, but he's just an incredible actor. I forgot
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: that a few of those acts. We're in that one.
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: Dave Chappelle's Dave Chappelle. That's the one I don't mat

- 1:05:28Speaker 3: of what he put on earth?
- 1:05:30Speaker 2: No?
- 1:05:30Speaker 1: I remember him, and it was the dude, what is
- 1:05:35Speaker 1: that one? With John Goodman and Steve Beshimi's in that one?
- 1:05:38Speaker 1: And The Big Lebowski, The Big Lebowski. Yeah, he was
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: really good in that Mark eight.
- 1:05:44Speaker 4: The film gross approximately one hundred and one point one
- 1:05:46Speaker 4: million dollars domestically, making it the eleventh highest Russian film
- 1:05:50Speaker 4: of nineteen ninety seven, and the film was numbed for
- 1:05:56Speaker 4: I guess a Comedy Award because Michael was enjoying this one.
- 1:06:01Speaker 4: The film was not med for two the Camo Awards
- 1:06:03Speaker 4: didn't win, but it was not for Best Original Song
- 1:06:06Speaker 4: and Best Sound. It's being of sound. Michael was laughing
- 1:06:10Speaker 4: up a storm over here.
- 1:06:10Speaker 1: No, because somebody texted in one of the best lines
- 1:06:15Speaker 1: in Uh.
- 1:06:17Speaker 4: Hangover and you can't say it on Oh, I can
- 1:06:19Speaker 4: say it. Oh okay, not you fat Jesus and he
- 1:06:23Speaker 4: goes in the phase in the phase.
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: Wriggles was hilarious in that movie. You didn't say his name.
- 1:06:30Speaker 4: Lots of great one liners. Oh yes, Rob, Rob Wriggles.
- 1:06:33Speaker 4: He was born in Louisville. He didn't lift, Are you serious? Yeah,
- 1:06:37Speaker 4: Rob Wriggles was born in Louisville. Didn't lift for along,
- 1:06:40Speaker 4: but yeah he was, so he probably didn't remember, right. Yeah,
- 1:06:44Speaker 4: but that that that's a great line right there, that
- 1:06:47Speaker 4: whole sequence when they're uh getting tasted and stuff. Oh yeah,
- 1:06:52Speaker 4: I love that part of it.
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: But you can go ahead and say, because you know,
- 1:06:55Speaker 1: one person texted in a little bit ago, Jamie, I
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: think it was saying it's so sad not going to
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: get to hear you say suck at Scoots anymore. But
- 1:07:03Speaker 1: you know, I think you should do it anyway. I
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: think you should honor him every week. You don't think so.
- 1:07:08Speaker 4: I think I think today is good because it's Okay,
- 1:07:11Speaker 4: first show without him, but it'd be kind of weird
- 1:07:13Speaker 4: to keep doing it. Yeah, okay, we can see. No, Yeah,
- 1:07:17Speaker 4: I get it, I get it. It was strictly a
- 1:07:19Speaker 4: Scoots thing.
- 1:07:20Speaker 1: It was, And I have to say, I when when
- 1:07:23Speaker 1: that texture texted that in, I'm like, oh man, another
- 1:07:27Speaker 1: realization that we're not against Matt.
- 1:07:29Speaker 4: Matt's a good guy, but Scoots was a he's okay to.
- 1:07:33Speaker 3: Yeah, actually had no offense to me because you're not
- 1:07:35Speaker 3: making fun of me as of like you're hurting my
- 1:07:38Speaker 3: feelings by not telling me to suck it.
- 1:07:41Speaker 4: No, I'm saying like, I'm saying that Scoots is a
- 1:07:44Speaker 4: great gab, but I'm not trying to say just because
- 1:07:46Speaker 4: you're not great gash.
- 1:07:47Speaker 3: Okay, I thought you were saying that because you weren't
- 1:07:49Speaker 3: going to tell me that. I was like, believe me,
- 1:07:51Speaker 3: it's okay, Corey, you don't have to apologize.
- 1:07:53Speaker 4: No, I'm not good. Yeah, it's so good.
- 1:07:56Speaker 1: Okay, all right, Well, okay, what else you got going on?
- 1:08:00Speaker 4: I was wishing I was watching baseball?
- 1:08:03Speaker 1: Yeah, And the mom Chilovich news to you is where
- 1:08:08Speaker 1: does that put uk in rankings? Because this guy over
- 1:08:11Speaker 1: here says it doesn't get him in the top twenty five.
- 1:08:14Speaker 1: Just outside looking in, I said they're probably fifteen to twenty.
- 1:08:19Speaker 4: I would say fifteen to twenty. Yeah, that's where I
- 1:08:21Speaker 4: am realistically, seventeen eighteen somewhere in there.
- 1:08:24Speaker 1: Yeah, I agree with that. I mean they were what
- 1:08:27Speaker 1: I think a lot of people were predicting. They were
- 1:08:28Speaker 1: like twenty six, twenty seven, twenty eight, and now just
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: one player puts him in there in the top fifteen
- 1:08:35Speaker 1: to twenty.
- 1:08:35Speaker 4: So with Pope's offense, I hope he lets him shoot
- 1:08:40Speaker 4: his mere eight shot seven and a half a game
- 1:08:42Speaker 4: last year. I was I was doing staffs last night.
- 1:08:48Speaker 4: The most attempts per game ever a UK was Derek
- 1:08:51Speaker 4: Miller in a nine ninet season. He took like ten
- 1:08:54Speaker 4: point three threes a game. Oh my gosh, I don't
- 1:08:56Speaker 4: know if he'll shoot ten ten a game, but mean
- 1:08:59Speaker 4: why not.
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: I think he will. He's got the numbers to prove it.
- 1:09:04Speaker 4: Let me shut for seven and and and and have attempts.
- 1:09:09Speaker 4: That's pretty amazing, It is amazing. I would hope for
- 1:09:12Speaker 4: at least eight a game. What if he had both
- 1:09:15Speaker 4: Malachai and the Melon out there shooting threes as much
- 1:09:19Speaker 4: as they wanted, that would be a lot of fun.
- 1:09:22Speaker 1: I don't think we want why I bet I bet
- 1:09:26Speaker 1: the NBA scouts want him to start shooting more three. Well,
- 1:09:29Speaker 1: that's great, but taking lot. I'm just having fun. It'd
- 1:09:34Speaker 1: be nice to see something like that. That's all right, Corey.
- 1:09:37Speaker 1: Always fun having you here, my friend.
- 1:09:39Speaker 4: Ah, so you and welcome back, Matt.
- 1:09:41Speaker 3: Yeah it'll be back.
- 1:09:44Speaker 1: That sounded really sincere, didn't it.
- 1:09:46Speaker 3: I mean like, I don't want to Oh my gosh, gosh,
- 1:09:49Speaker 3: it's just so great to be back. I'm so fa
- 1:09:51Speaker 3: Corey so much, Michael. This has been such a fun show.
- 1:09:54Speaker 1: Thank you. That's exactly the response I want. I mean,
- 1:09:58Speaker 1: show some enthusias. It's after the nine o'clock hour. I
- 1:10:03Speaker 1: just just honest response. I love anyway. All Right, we're
- 1:10:07Speaker 1: gonna take a break right there, Corey. We'll see you
- 1:10:09Speaker 1: next week, won't we. I'll be here, Okay, good, I'll
- 1:10:11Speaker 1: be here too. Yeah. We don't know what producer is
- 1:10:14Speaker 1: gonna be here. I know I hope it's Matthew. But
- 1:10:17Speaker 1: we're gonna take a break right now. We'll see you
- 1:10:19Speaker 1: next week. Everybody, stay right there. We got a lot
- 1:10:21Speaker 1: more just cats. We got some football news to talk about,
- 1:10:24Speaker 1: possibly another four star joining UK stay right there? More
- 1:10:28Speaker 1: just cats coming right now? Maybe maybe I am just
- 1:11:00Speaker 1: too demanding? Is that what it is? I'm demanding that
- 1:11:02Speaker 1: you be in a good mood when you come on
- 1:11:04Speaker 1: the radio. I think so, I apologize. I don't want
- 1:11:07Speaker 1: to demand anything to you. I just want you to
- 1:11:09Speaker 1: have fun.
- 1:11:09Speaker 3: All you do is take take, take it.
- 1:11:11Speaker 1: I do. Now you're sounding like Patricia Bennett. Okay, you
- 1:11:14Speaker 1: better be careful, but yeah, I just want you to
- 1:11:18Speaker 1: have a good time when you're in here. I don't
- 1:11:20Speaker 1: care about anything else.
- 1:11:21Speaker 3: I am having a good time.
- 1:11:22Speaker 1: Are you okay? Good? One person tweeted in Just the
- 1:11:26Speaker 1: Cat Radio, we could have and should have beat West
- 1:11:30Speaker 1: Virginia last night, Michael, just like last year when when
- 1:11:33Speaker 1: it was ours to win and we blew it in
- 1:11:36Speaker 1: the eighth inning. They were the better team and you
- 1:11:39Speaker 1: can't make mistakes against a better team. Comes down to coaching. Unfortunately,
- 1:11:43Speaker 1: hopefully less gimmicks next year. Couldn't agree more. I mean,
- 1:11:47Speaker 1: that's that's that's absolutely correct. Uh and then uh one
- 1:11:53Speaker 1: listen to this and this is right. Somebody posted a
- 1:11:58Speaker 1: picture of Malachimer I know and Milan Momchilovich with M
- 1:12:03Speaker 1: and MS in the background the candy, and uh, I
- 1:12:08Speaker 1: have to give credit because uh, whoever tweeted this back
- 1:12:11Speaker 1: out towards me. You heard it first on Just the
- 1:12:15Speaker 1: Cats from Local John. Yeah, Local John gets credit for
- 1:12:19Speaker 1: this cat's coverage. I'm sorry you were wrong about this,
- 1:12:22Speaker 1: but Local John should be getting the the the respect
- 1:12:27Speaker 1: that he deserves because he was the first to say
- 1:12:30Speaker 1: that Mars should be sponsoring the Eminem Boys. What do
- 1:12:35Speaker 1: you think about that? Should that be a nil deal?
- 1:12:37Speaker 1: That should be worth millions of dollars to uh something
- 1:12:42Speaker 1: that's going on. No, it was something that Local John
- 1:12:46Speaker 1: Bacon said it should be eminem and I said it
- 1:12:48Speaker 1: was a bad idea, and Justin was like, no, this
- 1:12:51Speaker 1: is a great idea. And then I kind of switched
- 1:12:54Speaker 1: and is that okay? Well yeah, good luck with that.
- 1:12:59Speaker 1: I mean, uh, one person, Texas, what do I hear?
- 1:13:02Speaker 1: Is that doormat? Holy cow?
- 1:13:05Speaker 3: There was actually so I like, I was on the
- 1:13:08Speaker 3: Ruther for show for you know, a couple of weeks. Yeah,
- 1:13:10Speaker 3: and there was a person who had heard, uh, you know,
- 1:13:15Speaker 3: like that nickname for me on your show. Yes, and
- 1:13:17Speaker 3: then somebody on Mike brother for show called me like
- 1:13:21Speaker 3: Matt the gnat Matt then said, I was being annoying,
- 1:13:25Speaker 3: so I thought it was like a nat so then
- 1:13:26Speaker 3: that that nickname evolved to Doornat. I like Doornat, so
- 1:13:33Speaker 3: they started calling me Doornat. That's pretty good, but I
- 1:13:35Speaker 3: still like Doormat better. Probably Dormat's better, but it was funny.
- 1:13:37Speaker 1: Okay, you of OL media was saying they need another player.
- 1:13:41Speaker 1: How can this be thought it was the best team ever?
- 1:13:44Speaker 3: I don't know. Are you getting all of your sources
- 1:13:47Speaker 3: just from Kelsey's army on Twitter? Is that where you're
- 1:13:50Speaker 3: getting this from? This is your primary source?
- 1:13:52Speaker 1: Is there really a Kelsey's Armor? It's just a.
- 1:13:55Speaker 3: Burner, It's just a meme Twitter account trying to raige baby.
- 1:13:57Speaker 3: Oh it is oh trying to raise bait you. No,
- 1:14:00Speaker 3: just like on Twitter. Okay, I genuinely don't know a
- 1:14:05Speaker 3: single person out there that is a little fan that
- 1:14:07Speaker 3: says is the best roster in college basketball or the
- 1:14:09Speaker 3: best team ever? Is very accessible.
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: Well, it's it's the best one they've had in a
- 1:14:13Speaker 1: long time. You gotta fully admit that. One person said,
- 1:14:16Speaker 1: only listening to this show because the Rutherford Show has
- 1:14:19Speaker 1: turned into a halfway house. What does that mean?
- 1:14:25Speaker 3: Oh?
- 1:14:25Speaker 1: My gosh, man, that's terriball. Why is Rutherford show a
- 1:14:30Speaker 1: halfway house? Do you get that at all? Or you
- 1:14:35Speaker 1: just don't want to say.
- 1:14:37Speaker 3: It's I'm not gonna comment on it.
- 1:14:40Speaker 1: I'm missing something here are I I'm not making fun
- 1:14:43Speaker 1: of Mike Rutherford. I don't want to make fun of
- 1:14:45Speaker 1: I think Mike's a nice ca I've always liked Mike.
- 1:14:49Speaker 1: I don't think he likes me, but I like Mike.
- 1:14:51Speaker 1: I don't know if Mike likes me or not. I
- 1:14:53Speaker 1: shouldn't say does Mike Rutherford like me or no?
- 1:14:57Speaker 3: I never asked.
- 1:14:59Speaker 1: Yeah, I know I don't know either, but uh uh
- 1:15:01Speaker 1: what Jolee, here we go. Yes, I'm excited now, thank you, joee.
- 1:15:05Speaker 1: Good morning, gentlemen. Now that be a nice person. Day
- 1:15:09Speaker 1: is over. I want to say that it really sucks
- 1:15:11Speaker 1: Scoots is gone. I will miss him. Unrelated side note,
- 1:15:16Speaker 1: shout out to my husband today on our twenty fifth anniversary.
- 1:15:20Speaker 1: It takes a brave man to stay married to me
- 1:15:22Speaker 1: that long years. First of all, Jolie, we're all gonna
- 1:15:26Speaker 1: miss him. I mean, even since Matthews now got the
- 1:15:29Speaker 1: job here, he misses him. I mean that's fair to
- 1:15:33Speaker 1: say isn't it. Oh yeah, I love Justin Yeah exactly,
- 1:15:35Speaker 1: we all do. And it does. It does suck. So
- 1:15:39Speaker 1: in the fact that you know, Jamie texted and said,
- 1:15:42Speaker 1: we're not going to hear second scoots and then and
- 1:15:43Speaker 1: then Corey says, yeah, we're not gonna do it anymore.
- 1:15:46Speaker 1: It's like, man, that sucks. But anyway, but on the
- 1:15:49Speaker 1: other hand, congratulations to you and your husband. Twenty five
- 1:15:53Speaker 1: years is spectacular. I just celebrated my thirty second last week. Yeah,
- 1:16:00Speaker 1: I don't get it right in a minute, Yeah it
- 1:16:02Speaker 1: was last It was two weeks ago. Yeah, thirty two.
- 1:16:05Speaker 1: Can you imagine that?
- 1:16:07Speaker 3: How old are you?
- 1:16:09Speaker 1: You weren't even alive when I got married. That's him
- 1:16:13Speaker 1: that makes me feel and I don't feel that much
- 1:16:15Speaker 1: older than you, even though I am.
- 1:16:17Speaker 3: Okay, it's how I feel.
- 1:16:21Speaker 1: Okay, just one person said came from the Deaner Show.
- 1:16:30Speaker 1: H Is that where it came from? Okay, lou L
- 1:16:35Speaker 1: Meta was saying they need another player? That cant are
- 1:16:38Speaker 1: they saying that? I'm confused? Are you saying the Diner
- 1:16:40Speaker 1: show said they were the best team ever they needed
- 1:16:44Speaker 1: another player?
- 1:16:45Speaker 4: Oh?
- 1:16:45Speaker 3: I mean like yeah, I mean I think every team
- 1:16:47Speaker 3: he's another player. Are you trying to say Kentucky doesn't
- 1:16:49Speaker 3: need any more players, they're the best roster.
- 1:16:51Speaker 1: Ever, No, Kentucky definitely needs more players. Yeah, they need
- 1:16:54Speaker 1: more depth. I still don't think they have. They could
- 1:16:57Speaker 1: have ten guards on that team, point guards, and I
- 1:16:59Speaker 1: still don't think it'd be enough. There'd be a way.
- 1:17:01Speaker 1: This team is just cursed that it's going to lose
- 1:17:04Speaker 1: every single top point guard in the country. I think
- 1:17:07Speaker 1: the little they get injured, I think the little needs
- 1:17:09Speaker 1: another three.
- 1:17:10Speaker 3: I mean you just basically have Carter and Knox and
- 1:17:12Speaker 3: then a couple of dudes who can play up and down, Like,
- 1:17:14Speaker 3: how much I have another three?
- 1:17:15Speaker 1: All right? How much do you realistically think, because you
- 1:17:20Speaker 1: you kind of questioned about U of L spending thirty
- 1:17:23Speaker 1: million dollars, how much do you realistically think Pat Kelsey
- 1:17:28Speaker 1: paid for the roster he currently has right now? Twenty five? Okay,
- 1:17:34Speaker 1: so it's pretty close to the thirty million dollars. You're
- 1:17:36Speaker 1: only five million.
- 1:17:37Speaker 3: Offs, I mean five million dollars a lot of mone that's.
- 1:17:39Speaker 1: That's more than what UK spent last year.
- 1:17:42Speaker 3: You're right, but I also think that last year there
- 1:17:44Speaker 3: were only a handful of teams that were spending even
- 1:17:47Speaker 3: around twenty million. I think this year the number is
- 1:17:50Speaker 3: inflated with I think there's I think most blue like
- 1:17:53Speaker 3: I Alons have blue blood, but most like major college
- 1:17:56Speaker 3: basketball program talking about the Arizona's, the Dukes, the Kentucky's,
- 1:17:58Speaker 3: and the Tennessee's, I think all of those are sitting
- 1:18:01Speaker 3: around are above twenty million. Now.
- 1:18:02Speaker 1: I think that's just how college basketball. Are we going
- 1:18:04Speaker 1: to have a salary cap in college sports one day?
- 1:18:07Speaker 3: Uh? I don't think it'll be like a salary cap.
- 1:18:11Speaker 3: I think what they'll do is the players will become
- 1:18:14Speaker 3: full employees. They won't. It won't be like a you
- 1:18:17Speaker 3: have to enroll in school anymore. These players will just come.
- 1:18:20Speaker 3: It'll be like the G League. Essentially, the G League
- 1:18:22Speaker 3: will die out and college basketball be the G League
- 1:18:25Speaker 3: where you can sign a roster, you can sign to
- 1:18:26Speaker 3: a contract with the school, play with them professionally for
- 1:18:28Speaker 3: a little bit before you go to the NBA. And
- 1:18:31Speaker 3: they will allow universities to create multiple revenue streams outside
- 1:18:35Speaker 3: of just donors and their own athletic funds, so like
- 1:18:39Speaker 3: they'll be able to gain like advertisement rights of their
- 1:18:42Speaker 3: own players and so like, like the schools will get
- 1:18:44Speaker 3: basically nil to fund their athletic programs, not just the players.
- 1:18:48Speaker 1: Because the schools that scare me the most out there
- 1:18:51Speaker 1: as far as the nil life we live today are
- 1:18:57Speaker 1: the schools like and I am not exact rating at all.
- 1:19:02Speaker 1: I'm scared of Vanderbilt. I'm scared of Duke. I'm scared
- 1:19:08Speaker 1: of Stanford because these schools have enormous endowments, and not
- 1:19:15Speaker 1: just that, they have an enormous amount of alumnus that
- 1:19:20Speaker 1: are extremely successful and they could go out there. Vanderbilt
- 1:19:24Speaker 1: is raising money like you wouldn't believe and spending it
- 1:19:27Speaker 1: on their athletic department. They just spent a ton of
- 1:19:30Speaker 1: money on all their facilities down there this past couple
- 1:19:33Speaker 1: of years. Now they're going to getting ready to spend
- 1:19:36Speaker 1: it on the athletes. I'm worried about them. I think
- 1:19:41Speaker 1: they are going to be a force to be reckoned with.
- 1:19:44Speaker 1: You think I'm crazy for saying that, don't you. No.
- 1:19:47Speaker 3: I mean like any school that like, especially the private
- 1:19:49Speaker 3: schools out there, that have just like you said, just
- 1:19:52Speaker 3: unimaginable money to spend, you know, like you said, the Stanfords,
- 1:19:55Speaker 3: the Vanderbilts, the Dukes, all those like they're going to
- 1:19:58Speaker 3: be successful in sports from now on. That's just that's
- 1:20:01Speaker 3: just how it is. Like that's why, like I understand
- 1:20:04Speaker 3: from the sports standpoint, it's like, how are we at
- 1:20:07Speaker 3: a time where Vanderbilt is this good at everything? I'm like,
- 1:20:10Speaker 3: they're one of the riches schools in the country. Like,
- 1:20:12Speaker 3: if this surprised anybody, it doesn't make I don't understand why.
- 1:20:17Speaker 3: It's just like it's the joke where you look like, oh, well,
- 1:20:21Speaker 3: of course Alabama's not as good a football anymore. They're
- 1:20:23Speaker 3: on a level playing field now. Everybody's exactly so it's
- 1:20:25Speaker 3: the same exact thing, like these schools that have money
- 1:20:28Speaker 3: are going to be good. That's just where we're at.
- 1:20:30Speaker 1: Do you think it's a coincidence it's Mike Krzyzewski and
- 1:20:32Speaker 1: Nick Saban are no longer head coaches. No, it's not.
- 1:20:35Speaker 1: It's not because they are all now finally on a
- 1:20:39Speaker 1: level playing field.
- 1:20:41Speaker 3: The one the only thing that surprised me about the
- 1:20:43Speaker 3: coaching in today's college basketball is that Caliperri is still
- 1:20:46Speaker 3: coaching basketball.
- 1:20:46Speaker 1: Yeah, credit to him.
- 1:20:48Speaker 3: Like I think that he just I generally believe he
- 1:20:50Speaker 3: just loves basketball and he wants to stay around the
- 1:20:52Speaker 3: sport and he wants to develop kids and stuff like that.
- 1:20:54Speaker 3: But like, I think it's more ego. But yeah, I
- 1:20:57Speaker 3: agree that that's the thing too. But yeah, it nily
- 1:21:00Speaker 3: surprised me that he has not retired yet. Credit to
- 1:21:02Speaker 3: him for doing that. It was the same thing with
- 1:21:04Speaker 3: Rick Patino. Rick Potato wants to be in the game.
- 1:21:08Speaker 3: He just has a love for.
- 1:21:11Speaker 1: He is willing.
- 1:21:11Speaker 3: He is willing. He is the one exception of the
- 1:21:14Speaker 3: there's always an outlier. Yeah, to every rule, he's the outlier.
- 1:21:17Speaker 3: He did like you said, he just loves the game.
- 1:21:19Speaker 3: He loves coaching. He's willing to adapt whether he likes
- 1:21:22Speaker 3: it or not. He's just adapting to the most extreme version.
- 1:21:25Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:21:26Speaker 3: Just not recruiting anymore. I'm only going to transporport people,
- 1:21:28Speaker 3: you know what I mean. Like that's just how he's
- 1:21:30Speaker 3: gonna do it. Yeah, Jamie texts it out. I think
- 1:21:32Speaker 3: I know, but I'm not saying.
- 1:21:34Speaker 1: Maybe. I think I know, but I'm not saying maybe
- 1:21:39Speaker 1: stg Or Nick. It's about the producer Trevor. He used
- 1:21:43Speaker 1: to be on Kentucky Road Call before. Justin Okay, I
- 1:21:45Speaker 1: I oh, is that what it is? Okay? I didn't
- 1:21:48Speaker 1: know that. By the way, Jolie, text me back and
- 1:21:50Speaker 1: tell me your husband's name and I'll give y'all shout out,
- 1:21:54Speaker 1: but credits y'all for twenty five years. We got to
- 1:21:56Speaker 1: take our last break. When we come back, uh talk
- 1:21:59Speaker 1: a little bit about uh NBA news and some NFL
- 1:22:02Speaker 1: news and if we have time, I want to talk
- 1:22:04Speaker 1: about this tennis story that's really big coming up. So
- 1:22:07Speaker 1: uh uh Eagles, did they just make the biggest screw
- 1:22:12Speaker 1: up of their life or not? No, they didn't. Well,
- 1:22:14Speaker 1: we're gonna talk about it. We're gonna talk about it.
- 1:22:17Speaker 1: Settle down, he's alive now, and we'll get back to
- 1:22:20Speaker 1: your Texas well s. They're right there. One more segment
- 1:22:22Speaker 1: of Justicat's coming right up. Have you ever seen that
- 1:22:53Speaker 1: account on social media where a guy goes and takes
- 1:22:58Speaker 1: his phone and starts asking a part what's your favorite song?
- 1:23:03Speaker 1: And then he'll take that song, take it his phone
- 1:23:06Speaker 1: and plays it to another random person, where do you
- 1:23:08Speaker 1: rank this song? And then they'll rank it, and then
- 1:23:13Speaker 1: he'll go to the next person and ask what do
- 1:23:15Speaker 1: you think well, and then ask him what's your favorite song?
- 1:23:18Speaker 1: Then he'll go to the next person and ask him
- 1:23:19Speaker 1: what ranked this song that was one of the songs
- 1:23:22Speaker 1: yesterday that somebody said is one of their all time
- 1:23:24Speaker 1: favorite songs.
- 1:23:25Speaker 3: I've never seen that do before.
- 1:23:26Speaker 1: It's pretty good. I enjoy that kind of stuff. Have
- 1:23:30Speaker 1: you ever seen the other guy that goes and asks
- 1:23:32Speaker 1: random girls to go on a date with him. I'm
- 1:23:35Speaker 1: always yeah, I and he pays for everything. It's not
- 1:23:39Speaker 1: a date date, just to go have fun. And I'm
- 1:23:42Speaker 1: always surprised that there's always one girl that says yes,
- 1:23:46Speaker 1: which kind of leads me to believe is this real
- 1:23:48Speaker 1: or not? Cause I man, if I'm some girl, I'm
- 1:23:52Speaker 1: not going with some random guy somewhere in this day
- 1:23:57Speaker 1: and age, Yeah I would. Yeah. Anyway, let's talk about
- 1:24:01Speaker 1: a a little about UK football. Right now, it's looking
- 1:24:05Speaker 1: more and more likely as will Stein and UK football
- 1:24:09Speaker 1: will add its eighth fourth star, a fourth star to
- 1:24:13Speaker 1: the class of twenty twenty seven. Eighth. You smile all
- 1:24:18Speaker 1: you want to, you, mister smirky smirk, but this is amazing.
- 1:24:22Speaker 1: UK is starting to get projections for offensive tackle dominant
- 1:24:26Speaker 1: Black out of Madison, Ohio, and it's looking really good
- 1:24:31Speaker 1: that it's going to happen. Six five two hundred and
- 1:24:33Speaker 1: ninety pounds. Was also or is also considering IU Michigan
- 1:24:39Speaker 1: State for GENI Tech in Arkansas. I mean, that's just
- 1:24:42Speaker 1: another big, big I don't know how he's doing it,
- 1:24:45Speaker 1: but the swing in recruitment in just less than a year.
- 1:24:51Speaker 1: Will Stein has just done a phenomenal job. You have
- 1:24:53Speaker 1: to fully admit that, now, Matthew, come on.
- 1:24:56Speaker 3: No, I mean he has. I've said a plenty of times.
- 1:24:58Speaker 3: I mean, yeah, we'll say. I love I think is
- 1:25:01Speaker 3: a great coach. I'm excited to see what he what
- 1:25:03Speaker 3: he does as a genuine d one.
- 1:25:05Speaker 1: I'm with you exactly. Yes.
- 1:25:07Speaker 3: Do I wish he loses every game? Of course I did.
- 1:25:09Speaker 3: At the same time, I think he's a great coach.
- 1:25:13Speaker 1: Do you really you wish? Because I don't. I shouldn't
- 1:25:16Speaker 1: say that. But anyway, the Eagles did. They screw up.
- 1:25:24Speaker 1: They traded their wide receiver, their greatest wide receiver, AJ Brown,
- 1:25:28Speaker 1: to the Patriots for a twenty eight, twenty twenty eight
- 1:25:33Speaker 1: first round draft pick in the draft and a twenty
- 1:25:37Speaker 1: twenty seven fifth round pick. I mean this completely alters
- 1:25:43Speaker 1: both offenses for the Patriots and the Eagles. You go ahead,
- 1:25:50Speaker 1: go ahead, and what's your argument.
- 1:25:52Speaker 3: There's no argument at all.
- 1:25:54Speaker 1: Do you think, Well, you were going crazy a couple
- 1:25:56Speaker 1: of minutes ago because I'm excited for this. Oh, that's right,
- 1:25:59Speaker 1: you're a paid fan.
- 1:26:00Speaker 3: Romeo Dobbs to Mario Douglas. Yeah, Stefan Diggs might come back.
- 1:26:05Speaker 3: I'm hoping they get him back. Kyle Williams, Kashawn Boody.
- 1:26:10Speaker 3: I mean it's great May at the Helm. I mean,
- 1:26:12Speaker 3: it's great for the Patriots. But what were the Eagles
- 1:26:16Speaker 3: thinking this? I mean, I mean, he's wanted to leave
- 1:26:18Speaker 3: the Eagles in the past two seasons.
- 1:26:19Speaker 1: Okay, see if you want to leave. But did he
- 1:26:21Speaker 1: get a good deal? Did the Did the Eagles get
- 1:26:23Speaker 1: a good deal with the number one round a draft
- 1:26:26Speaker 1: pick in twenty eight in a fifth rounder in twenty seven?
- 1:26:29Speaker 3: I mean, I think it's fine. You got a first
- 1:26:31Speaker 3: rounder out of it.
- 1:26:31Speaker 1: We'll get a first rounded for next draft, not two
- 1:26:35Speaker 1: years from now. But the Eagles are already good. Yeah,
- 1:26:38Speaker 1: and they barely used aj Brown this year at all.
- 1:26:41Speaker 1: Like it was basically just like DeVonta Smith most of
- 1:26:45Speaker 1: the time. Jalen Hurts is the worst good quarterback in
- 1:26:48Speaker 1: the league. That man can't throw the ball twenty yards
- 1:26:50Speaker 1: down the field.
- 1:26:51Speaker 3: Oh really, he's a glorified full back playing quarterback. He
- 1:26:55Speaker 3: just needs some dude to push his button on the
- 1:26:57Speaker 3: end zone over and over again. Yeah. I can like, look,
- 1:27:01Speaker 3: as a Patriots fan, I have not been this excited
- 1:27:04Speaker 3: for a player coming to this team in a very,
- 1:27:06Speaker 3: very long time. But I also think that, like the
- 1:27:11Speaker 3: Eagles are good enough to like, they didn't really lose
- 1:27:13Speaker 3: a lot. Yeah, they're like they're building for the picture.
- 1:27:16Speaker 1: All right, So like they must be eyeing somebody if
- 1:27:18Speaker 1: they are going after a twenty twenty eight pager.
- 1:27:20Speaker 3: I mean possibly.
- 1:27:21Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:27:22Speaker 3: I also just think that it was getting to the
- 1:27:23Speaker 3: point where A. J. Brown wanted out so bad that
- 1:27:26Speaker 3: it was just like it's better to get rid of
- 1:27:28Speaker 3: him and get something out of it than to hinder
- 1:27:30Speaker 3: the team moving forward.
- 1:27:31Speaker 1: This does take a little heat off of Mike Rabel,
- 1:27:32Speaker 1: doesn't it, Because that's all they're talking about up in
- 1:27:36Speaker 1: Boston and in the Northeast and for that part the
- 1:27:40Speaker 1: United States is his personal life.
- 1:27:42Speaker 3: I mean, yeah, you're right, yeah, sure.
- 1:27:44Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, but yeah, and we're all kind of yeah,
- 1:27:47Speaker 1: all kind of stuff.
- 1:27:48Speaker 3: I'm just lad because you took a Super Bowl team
- 1:27:50Speaker 3: and added a top five receivers too.
- 1:27:51Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, exactly. And you don't care about Mike Rabel
- 1:27:53Speaker 1: and his personal life.
- 1:27:54Speaker 3: D you do not care about what he and Diana
- 1:27:56Speaker 3: Rossini do behind closed doors? Yeah, don't care.
- 1:27:58Speaker 1: Yeah, and they're supposedly all back with her spouses from before.
- 1:28:03Speaker 1: It's like, what's going on here? I mean, there's no way,
- 1:28:06Speaker 1: well I shouldn't say. What did you think about the
- 1:28:11Speaker 1: Serena Williams.
- 1:28:12Speaker 3: News, Oh, that she's coming out of retirement.
- 1:28:14Speaker 1: Forty four years old, is playing in their first tournament,
- 1:28:18Speaker 1: uh in four years.
- 1:28:20Speaker 3: I mean, like, I'm okay with it if she wants to.
- 1:28:23Speaker 1: I think it's great to me. But part of me wonders,
- 1:28:27Speaker 1: because I've always liked Serena Williams. But part of me wonders,
- 1:28:30Speaker 1: is this a whole business ploy? Because you know she's
- 1:28:32Speaker 1: been advertising that GLP one drug whatever, well, her own brand.
- 1:28:38Speaker 1: I guess that's exactly like, you're exactly correct. And she's
- 1:28:43Speaker 1: claiming now because before she was having all kinds of
- 1:28:46Speaker 1: joint pain, well, joint pain can't come from age, joint
- 1:28:50Speaker 1: pain can come from overweightness. And now she's, uh, she's
- 1:28:54Speaker 1: claiming that, well, the GLP druggist is helping me take
- 1:28:56Speaker 1: away not only the weight but also my joint pain.
- 1:28:59Speaker 1: And so soon as I started hearing this, it made
- 1:29:02Speaker 1: me feel like, oh, this is a business ploy. It's
- 1:29:05Speaker 1: not really her going to wanting to play tennis again.
- 1:29:07Speaker 3: Yeah. I mean, if that's true, it's a good idea.
- 1:29:10Speaker 3: Whatever you can to make money at that point in
- 1:29:11Speaker 3: your career.
- 1:29:13Speaker 1: True. I enjoyed reading this. CBS is finalizing a deal
- 1:29:21Speaker 1: with Russell Wilson to become a sports analyst. Oh god,
- 1:29:25Speaker 1: that's what I thought. That's the exact reaction I was
- 1:29:28Speaker 1: hoping to get out of you.
- 1:29:29Speaker 3: The last thing I want is more Russell Wilson, Like
- 1:29:31Speaker 3: that's just can we get less of this guy? Can
- 1:29:34Speaker 3: we get his wife on the on the screen instead
- 1:29:36Speaker 3: of him? Oh wow, I'd rather see Ciara.
- 1:29:38Speaker 1: Oh my goodness. Okay, I wouldn't going to go that far,
- 1:29:41Speaker 1: but uh yeah, it's like, pick some people that actually
- 1:29:48Speaker 1: have personalities. I'm not a big Russell Wilson fan. I mean,
- 1:29:52Speaker 1: he was okay quarterback, fair to say.
- 1:29:55Speaker 3: Okay, he was better than okay in his prom he
- 1:29:58Speaker 3: was he was a he was a eight quarterback.
- 1:30:01Speaker 1: A couple of times. Yeah, okay. One person texted in
- 1:30:05Speaker 1: Happy National Rotisserie Chicken Day to all that celebrate.
- 1:30:08Speaker 4: Finally a day that I can get behind. Finally Are
- 1:30:11Speaker 4: you a big rotisserie fan?
- 1:30:12Speaker 3: I love chicken, especially like when you like that's like
- 1:30:15Speaker 3: if I ever make like muffle chicken or something or
- 1:30:17Speaker 3: just ry chickens the way to go?
- 1:30:19Speaker 1: Is it? Really? When we're your rotisserie chicken of choices
- 1:30:22Speaker 1: from what? Uh?
- 1:30:23Speaker 3: Costco?
- 1:30:24Speaker 1: Oh it's the Costco or Sam's Club. I mean either
- 1:30:26Speaker 1: one of those. They're one and the same, aren't they
- 1:30:29Speaker 1: kind of you? Yeah? Uh did I read this? I
- 1:30:35Speaker 1: think I know, but I'm not saying maybe as tj
- 1:30:38Speaker 1: or Nick.
- 1:30:39Speaker 3: Yeah that was the one about Uh yeah Trevor, Yeah,
- 1:30:43Speaker 3: I got it.
- 1:30:44Speaker 1: One person said, I am. I am just having fun.
- 1:30:48Speaker 1: It's the day after a big swing from the Cats.
- 1:30:51Speaker 1: I think the rosters are very close talent wise. Will
- 1:30:54Speaker 1: be a great game in REP. The one thing I
- 1:30:57Speaker 1: didn't talk about is women's basketball UK versus U of
- 1:31:02Speaker 1: L is going to be played at Reparina.
- 1:31:04Speaker 3: They're both being played REP. Yes, I feel like it's
- 1:31:08Speaker 3: usually always been like one of like ones in rough
- 1:31:11Speaker 3: ones and yum uh was that I feel like it's
- 1:31:15Speaker 3: usually always like one is in reb and the others
- 1:31:17Speaker 3: in yung about long about that?
- 1:31:18Speaker 1: Yes you are because last year, the last couple of years, well,
- 1:31:21Speaker 1: the last time they played in Lexington it was at
- 1:31:26Speaker 1: Memorol Coliseum. So I think it's great.
- 1:31:30Speaker 3: The last time, I see what you're mean. Sorry, I
- 1:31:32Speaker 3: was like the ones in Lexington. I get what you're saying. Yeah, yeah, yeah, no, no no, no,
- 1:31:35Speaker 3: they're they're You're right. U of L typically plays at
- 1:31:38Speaker 3: the Young Center for women's basketball, but for women's basketball,
- 1:31:42Speaker 3: they typically play at Memoro Coliseum. I think this is great.
- 1:31:46Speaker 3: I forgot they played that.
- 1:31:46Speaker 1: Yeah, last time, Coach Brooks, uh you know, last time
- 1:31:51Speaker 1: UK played at Reperina women's basketball it was twenty twenty three.
- 1:31:55Speaker 1: So I think this is great. Here's what I would
- 1:31:58Speaker 1: like to suggest, though. Wouldn't it be a lot of fun?
- 1:32:02Speaker 1: Would you be behind it if you had a double
- 1:32:05Speaker 1: header the women's game?
- 1:32:07Speaker 3: Nope, wah, nope.
- 1:32:10Speaker 1: That would be it to me. That would be the
- 1:32:12Speaker 1: ultimate day to watch women's basketball play U of L
- 1:32:16Speaker 1: and then men's basketball right afterwards or the other way around.
- 1:32:20Speaker 1: I don't care which you don't think that would be fun?
- 1:32:24Speaker 3: Why one because look, this is what they're gonna do.
- 1:32:26Speaker 3: This is what they're gonna do. They're gonna put the
- 1:32:29Speaker 3: women's game first so that they can and then the
- 1:32:31Speaker 3: deal is gonna be like, you buy a ticket to
- 1:32:33Speaker 3: this game, you can get into the next game or
- 1:32:35Speaker 3: this whatever it is. And people are gonna like show
- 1:32:38Speaker 3: up at halftime for the women's game, like it's not
- 1:32:40Speaker 3: even gonna be full. They're not gonna show up all
- 1:32:42Speaker 3: the way, and it's gonna look dumb, and then they're
- 1:32:44Speaker 3: gonna be and then you're gonna realize all these people
- 1:32:46Speaker 3: are only coming here for the men's game. It's gonna backfire.
- 1:32:49Speaker 3: Or the opposite is they show up they do the
- 1:32:52Speaker 3: men's game first, which is the worst idea because whichever
- 1:32:55Speaker 3: team loses, then they're gonna leave. There's no point. You
- 1:32:58Speaker 3: don't want to watch your favorite lose then be like,
- 1:33:01Speaker 3: well I'll stay for the women's game. You know that's
- 1:33:03Speaker 3: not gonna work. So it's one or the other either way.
- 1:33:06Speaker 3: As much as I would love to say that Louisville
- 1:33:10Speaker 3: fans and Kentucky fans would show out in droves for.
- 1:33:13Speaker 4: Both, I loved the idea. Okay, I just don't think
- 1:33:17Speaker 4: you okay, and I agree with you.
- 1:33:19Speaker 1: The women's game should not be next because they'd be leaving.
- 1:33:22Speaker 1: You're right about that. The women's game would have to
- 1:33:24Speaker 1: be first, and I think people, for the first time
- 1:33:26Speaker 1: they do it would be there for both games, and
- 1:33:30Speaker 1: a huge amount of them. I think it would be
- 1:33:32Speaker 1: fans because people are really getting behind Kitty Brooks. Love
- 1:33:36Speaker 1: that guy. One person said, I'm just having fun. It's
- 1:33:39Speaker 1: the day after a big swing. No, I got that.
- 1:33:42Speaker 1: Joe Lee said, my husband's name is Jason. Thank you.
- 1:33:45Speaker 1: I appreciate the well wishes. Well Jason, You're lucky to
- 1:33:48Speaker 1: be married to a lovely lady like Joeli, So congratulations
- 1:33:52Speaker 1: to both of you. Local John said, are some people
- 1:33:56Speaker 1: confusing trademark rules and contract structures with a total band.
- 1:34:01Speaker 1: While Kentucky's JMI Sports contract is highly debated online by
- 1:34:06Speaker 1: sports analysts, the actual contract language explicitly states it does
- 1:34:10Speaker 1: not prevent athletes from doing in IL deals. Yeah, but
- 1:34:14Speaker 1: I think that's up for debate. I'm going to tell
- 1:34:15Speaker 1: you right now.
- 1:34:16Speaker 3: I thought it was they could only do deals with
- 1:34:18Speaker 3: teams like connected with JMI or something.
- 1:34:20Speaker 1: Yeah, Kentucky state law legally prohibits to universities as or
- 1:34:25Speaker 1: their partners from fully blocking and athletes independent in IL
- 1:34:28Speaker 1: contract rights. Am I not saying that I am not
- 1:34:32Speaker 1: saying that JMI is perfect, But I believe there is
- 1:34:36Speaker 1: a more to the story. Yes, I think there's a
- 1:34:38Speaker 1: lot more to the story. And also, text line is
- 1:34:42Speaker 1: one thing to take a shot at someone for their
- 1:34:45Speaker 1: sports takes. However, it's crazy to take a personal stab
- 1:34:49Speaker 1: at someone because of something in their past. So please,
- 1:34:52Speaker 1: if you really do not know someone beyond this text line,
- 1:34:57Speaker 1: or beyond hosting or producing the show, then leave them alone,
- 1:35:01Speaker 1: especially texting in about it not cool at all? What's
- 1:35:04Speaker 1: he talking about there? Did I miss something? It must
- 1:35:08Speaker 1: be okay, let's leave it alone, all right? Then I
- 1:35:11Speaker 1: don't know anything about it, I can okay, all right, then, well,
- 1:35:14Speaker 1: my apologies. If I said something it wasn't okay. Good.
- 1:35:20Speaker 1: Let's see. Is Justin Kaylin really gone? No more sunrise
- 1:35:24Speaker 1: with Scoots? Yes, that is correct Justin as well, So
- 1:35:27Speaker 1: Justin is no longer here at the station. And unfortunately
- 1:35:30Speaker 1: we won't have a Sunrise with Scoots anymore. So yeah,
- 1:35:33Speaker 1: that's all changed. And and to the person to asked
- 1:35:37Speaker 1: me earlier, I really don't know if there's going to
- 1:35:38Speaker 1: be anything to replace that show or not, or if
- 1:35:40Speaker 1: they're just going to keep the whatever the National show
- 1:35:43Speaker 1: is on, but that'll be it. So anyway, all right,
- 1:35:46Speaker 1: that does it for us today. Tomorrow we're going to
- 1:35:48Speaker 1: talk about some NBA news, hopefully we get the confirmation
- 1:35:51Speaker 1: of a UK football recruit hopefully next couple of days,
- 1:35:55Speaker 1: and whatever else is going on. So another fun day
- 1:35:58Speaker 1: with you, Matthew and ippreciate you doing this, Okay. I
- 1:36:01Speaker 1: want you to know that every day. I love you
- 1:36:04Speaker 1: being on the show as well. So it's glad to
