- 1:36Speaker 2: which I had not seen since I don't know, maybe
- 1:39Speaker 2: right around the time it came out. Oh wow, okay, yeah,
- 1:42Speaker 2: it's been a while. It's been a while. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:45Speaker 2: I have thoughts. I have thoughts.
- 1:47Speaker 3: I've got one or two.
- 1:49Speaker 2: Yeah, I've got.
- 1:52Speaker 3: On Blu ray. I've got the the Blu ray. Watched
- 1:56Speaker 3: all the special features. Wow, yeah, some good special no
- 2:01Speaker 3: director's commentary on this Blu ray.
- 2:03Speaker 2: But they didn't want to talk about it.
- 2:04Speaker 3: Huh, they did not want to talk about it.
- 2:06Speaker 2: But I do nice, nice, Yeah, I definitely have things
- 2:11Speaker 2: to say. I have some observation, especially in light of
- 2:14Speaker 2: New Trek. So oh yeah yeah, oh yes, so we will.
- 2:18Speaker 2: We will definitely get to that. But how's your week
- 2:20Speaker 2: beend man.
- 2:21Speaker 3: We're going good. Just got a new computer, so that's
- 2:24Speaker 3: why nice. Usually when I do the show, I'm actually
- 2:28Speaker 3: doing it on my phone.
- 2:29Speaker 2: Is that a batlift behind you?
- 2:31Speaker 3: Yes? That is a battleft behind me.
- 2:33Speaker 2: Oh that's amazing.
- 2:34Speaker 3: That's good. I haven't I haven't really set up the
- 2:38Speaker 3: office yet, Like I gotta I gotta cover this window.
- 2:40Speaker 3: Probably yeah, that or I actually got another Star Trek
- 2:44Speaker 3: banner I can put right there just to oh okay,
- 2:46Speaker 3: to not be so right right right.
- 2:49Speaker 2: That's the technical term for it.
- 2:50Speaker 3: Is, yeah, you know, you don't want too much of
- 2:53Speaker 3: the That's what all the the engineers like doing movies,
- 2:56Speaker 3: you know, like JJ Abrams would be like actually, jj
- 2:59Speaker 3: Abrams would be like, give me.
- 3:00Speaker 2: More, you know, yes, yes, exactly.
- 3:03Speaker 3: Shine is flashlight in the camera. So yeah, so we're I'm,
- 3:07Speaker 3: you know, got a new set up so I can
- 3:08Speaker 3: actually I can actually see you.
- 3:11Speaker 2: Oh that's awesome.
- 3:12Speaker 3: I mean you're like, you're like this big to me.
- 3:15Speaker 2: Okay, you're just.
- 3:19Speaker 3: And I can see the chat window.
- 3:21Speaker 2: Oh yes, that's right, we got the chat.
- 3:23Speaker 3: If the internet holds out, then.
- 3:26Speaker 2: You'll be unstoppable.
- 3:27Speaker 3: I'll be unstoppable.
- 3:29Speaker 2: There you go.
- 3:30Speaker 3: How about you? How are you doing?
- 3:32Speaker 2: Good?
- 3:32Speaker 3: Good? Trying to think?
- 3:34Speaker 2: What have I I've been working on my script basically,
- 3:37Speaker 2: just same as always. Okay, I did see that you're
- 3:40Speaker 2: building a some sort of closet storage unit.
- 3:42Speaker 3: Yeah, down at the end of the like Chad, what's that? Yeah,
- 3:48Speaker 3: where we keep Chad, end of the hallway. Uh, there
- 3:52Speaker 3: was just this empty space and I'm I sort of
- 3:56Speaker 3: forced gumped my way through making a making a closet
- 4:00Speaker 3: or making it like a four door cabinet, and okay,
- 4:03Speaker 3: I'll post some pictures. I think it turned up pretty good.
- 4:05Speaker 3: But the cabinet is is down a hallway. Well, it's
- 4:10Speaker 3: at the bottom of the stairs, and that's where I've
- 4:11Speaker 3: hung up all my like celebrity photos and stuff. Oh nice,
- 4:15Speaker 3: I've got pictures of me next to you know, some
- 4:19Speaker 3: Star Trek celebrities and stuff like that. So yeah, I'll
- 4:22Speaker 3: have to. I'll take some pictures and post on the
- 4:24Speaker 3: Facebook group.
- 4:25Speaker 2: Okay, very cool. Oh, good morning jazz Biz, he says,
- 4:28Speaker 2: good morning Jazbiz. Yeah, all right, So, well what's going
- 4:33Speaker 2: on with me? Yeah, okay, well I guess with that,
- 4:37Speaker 2: LUI should get to the Star Trek News.
- 4:39Speaker 3: Let's do it Star Trek News.
- 4:44Speaker 2: All right, So our first news story comes to us
- 4:47Speaker 2: from news Week. Let me just pull that up here
- 4:51Speaker 2: right now. And this is kind of interesting. So Jonathan
- 4:54Speaker 2: freaks Riker is saying the news Star Trek series is
- 5:00Speaker 2: for hardcore fans.
- 5:01Speaker 1: So.
- 5:01Speaker 2: At a recent UH Comic book convention in Indiana, UH
- 5:07Speaker 2: Jonathan Rinkx was part of a panel with Brent Spiner
- 5:10Speaker 2: and Denise Crosberry Crosberry at Crosby.
- 5:15Speaker 3: I like it's early.
- 5:16Speaker 2: Yes, everyone everybody loves that Crosberry favor rights. I love
- 5:22Speaker 2: it amazing.
- 5:26Speaker 3: Uh.
- 5:27Speaker 2: A fan asked, you know what can we expect with
- 5:30Speaker 2: Star Trek Starfleet Academy, right? Is it going to be
- 5:34Speaker 2: geared more towards younger viewers or longtime fans, to which
- 5:39Speaker 2: Riiker said, oh boy, baby, it's so much more hard
- 5:44Speaker 2: for hardcore start Trek fans than you happen to know.
- 5:48Speaker 2: He says, yes, there are young people in it, but
- 5:51Speaker 2: the movie stars run. It's the show basically, And when
- 5:56Speaker 2: he says movie stars, he's referring to uh, Paul Giamadi
- 6:00Speaker 2: and Helen Hunter on a Holly Hunter who were in
- 6:03Speaker 2: it as well. Okay, so he also did kind of
- 6:07Speaker 2: give us a little bit of a spoiler. He said
- 6:09Speaker 2: he wasn't sure if he was supposed to talk about
- 6:11Speaker 2: it or not, but then he went and talked about
- 6:13Speaker 2: it anyways, And apparently the Starfleet Academy will have their
- 6:17Speaker 2: own ship, much like DS nine had the Defiance.
- 6:22Speaker 3: Oh okay, I feel like we knew that before, did we?
- 6:26Speaker 2: Like?
- 6:26Speaker 3: Okay, I could be wrong, you know that'd be something
- 6:30Speaker 3: that I mean, I guess we don't know a lot
- 6:31Speaker 3: about Starfleet Academy as.
- 6:33Speaker 2: It's whatever they want it to be, and we.
- 6:35Speaker 3: Really don't know anything about Starfleet Academy in the ninety
- 6:38Speaker 3: seventh century.
- 6:40Speaker 2: Right, right, whatever, So yeah, I guess.
- 6:42Speaker 3: They can have their own ship. I mean, Red Squad
- 6:45Speaker 3: uses the ship.
- 6:46Speaker 2: So yeah, yeah, so.
- 6:51Speaker 3: Yeah whatever that can do whatever they want. I you know,
- 6:53Speaker 3: it's either going to be really good it's gonna be
- 6:55Speaker 3: absolutely terrible.
- 6:56Speaker 2: I love that it says at the bottom of the
- 6:58Speaker 2: of the story that Starfield Academy is set to release
- 7:02Speaker 2: either later this year early twenty twenty six, because nobody knows.
- 7:06Speaker 3: No, nobody knows, And didn't it say that it's also
- 7:10Speaker 3: they filmed. It's already filmed, like it's already done.
- 7:12Speaker 2: They finished principal shooting already, but they still got to
- 7:15Speaker 2: go do the special effects and all that.
- 7:19Speaker 3: Okay, I mean, if they need any help, I've I've
- 7:22Speaker 3: I've put together a couple of YouTube videos, so I'm sure, Yeah,
- 7:24Speaker 3: there you go.
- 7:25Speaker 2: It's a little bit more complicated than that.
- 7:27Speaker 3: A little bit. Okay, they probably use a little bit
- 7:29Speaker 3: better at video editing that I have. Yeah, they're probably
- 7:33Speaker 3: not using.
- 7:33Speaker 2: Cap cut no, no, no, no, no, they're probably using Premiere, yeah,
- 7:38Speaker 2: or probably Final Kodek Well, probably Premiere. The Final Codex
- 7:42Speaker 2: is another one. Yeah, I don't know. Man, what does
- 7:47Speaker 2: this make you feel? With Riker saying this is going
- 7:50Speaker 2: to be for the hardcore fans?
- 7:51Speaker 3: Look, everybody knows I'm a huge Jonathan Frakes fan. Indeed,
- 7:55Speaker 3: he's he's done some great things for Star Trek. He's
- 7:59Speaker 3: not per you know, he's but I'm a big fan
- 8:04Speaker 3: of his, and if he says it's gonna be great,
- 8:06Speaker 3: I have no reason to not believe him at this point. Okay, Okay,
- 8:11Speaker 3: so I'm gonna I'm gonna I'm gonna jump right into academy. Yeah.
- 8:17Speaker 2: I don't know if it if it makes me feel like,
- 8:22Speaker 2: oh yeah, we're we're on a good we're on good,
- 8:24Speaker 2: solid crown now, I don't think it alleviates that sort
- 8:28Speaker 2: of hesitation, right. I do think it's interesting that very
- 8:33Speaker 2: clearly they know there is some trepidation with this series
- 8:38Speaker 2: that people are not this is not the series that
- 8:40Speaker 2: we want.
- 8:41Speaker 3: You know, well, uh shaka, when the walls fell, I
- 8:47Speaker 3: will go in this, you know, strong beard his eyes
- 8:49Speaker 3: open right right? Nice?
- 8:51Speaker 2: I like that I like that. Jazus says, I want
- 8:54Speaker 2: it to be good. Yeah, we we all do, buddy,
- 8:56Speaker 2: We we all want it to be.
- 8:57Speaker 3: Good very much so because we're we're I feel like
- 9:03Speaker 3: Star Trek as a franchise, as as a cultural phenomenon,
- 9:09Speaker 3: is standing at a precipice. And and there's really only
- 9:13Speaker 3: two directions that can go. Yeah, and I don't I
- 9:18Speaker 3: don't want Star Trek to die this year or next year,
- 9:24Speaker 3: because you know it, it just came back, baby, Yeah,
- 9:28Speaker 3: And it just came back, and and it's back, and
- 9:32Speaker 3: it's got shows, and it's got I mean, I guess
- 9:35Speaker 3: kind of a movie, and but it's it's it's it's
- 9:37Speaker 3: here right now. Let's let's grab a hold of it
- 9:39Speaker 3: and hold on to it as best we can. You
- 9:41Speaker 3: hear that, Paramount, don't don't screw this up.
- 9:46Speaker 2: Frost Back says, it's gonna be uh Disco Prodigy mixed
- 9:49Speaker 2: with them, ah doctor.
- 9:54Speaker 3: I mean theoretically, there was parts of Discovery I liked.
- 9:58Speaker 3: I don't know who doesn't like the holographic doctor, right,
- 10:03Speaker 3: you know, and for those who watched Prodigy, it's not bad.
- 10:06Speaker 3: So yeah, you know, maybe they'll surprise us, hopefully, so,
- 10:12Speaker 3: and as much as I hate Paul Giamatti, maybe hates
- 10:16Speaker 3: not strong enough a word, I despise Paulamati, a lot
- 10:20Speaker 3: of people do like him. Yeah. So, and and I've
- 10:24Speaker 3: been I've been told by other people that he's a
- 10:26Speaker 3: really good actor, you know.
- 10:29Speaker 2: I mean, we've had two on screen incarnations as the Rhino,
- 10:32Speaker 2: and he's the best one.
- 10:36Speaker 3: Yeah, I guess I could agree with that.
- 10:38Speaker 2: Yeah. So, Okay, I don't know what that says, but
- 10:42Speaker 2: it's weird that there's two.
- 10:43Speaker 3: Of them, right, Yeah, So all right, all right, I'm
- 10:46Speaker 3: excited for Academy.
- 10:47Speaker 2: Okay, we'll go with that. All right, Let's go to
- 10:49Speaker 2: our next news story. And this comes to us from
- 10:52Speaker 2: Ours Technica. I thought this was a fun little story
- 10:56Speaker 2: and I thought you would enjoy it. So apparently there
- 10:59Speaker 2: is a trial going on right now in the the
- 11:04Speaker 2: Court of Appeals in DC, and a computer scientist is
- 11:09Speaker 2: trying to register an art of work on art artwork
- 11:14Speaker 2: that was created by artificial intelligence. But the computer scientist
- 11:17Speaker 2: is basically saying, hey, I made the AI for this thing, so, uh,
- 11:22Speaker 2: I should get the copyright on this piece of art
- 11:24Speaker 2: that it created. Right, So, in their rule to dismiss Uh,
- 11:30Speaker 2: this guy's rule. You know, this guy's case. They cited
- 11:35Speaker 2: Data and I love it. They they pointed out to
- 11:41Speaker 2: Data's very famous poem about his cat. Yes, and they
- 11:48Speaker 2: you know the poem. What was the name of the poem,
- 11:50Speaker 2: do you remember?
- 11:51Speaker 3: Uh?
- 11:54Speaker 2: Feelis catechists, feelis catus?
- 11:56Speaker 3: Does your textom no? Clinch? Yeah, I remember? Yeah. And
- 11:59Speaker 3: and it's slightly less known sequel. Uh, it was called
- 12:05Speaker 3: ode to Spot and it's slightly less known sequel Spot
- 12:10Speaker 3: to the Deuce. Yes, that was that premiered on this
- 12:13Speaker 3: very podcast.
- 12:14Speaker 2: Yes, so so one of the judges that's a three
- 12:18Speaker 2: judge panel, right, but one of the judges in her
- 12:21Speaker 2: in her ruling basically saying yeah, buddy, no, you can't
- 12:24Speaker 2: do that, basically says that, look, uh, that's neat that
- 12:30Speaker 2: you brought up data. Because the guy originally brought up data, like, hey,
- 12:34Speaker 2: if data is like making poems and pieces of art,
- 12:37Speaker 2: like he could copyright it. First off, dude, that's a
- 12:41Speaker 2: fictional television show. That's that's not real life. You know. Yeah, yeah,
- 12:50Speaker 2: let's let's just let's just start there. But then the
- 12:54Speaker 2: judge went on does basically say, uh, data might be
- 12:58Speaker 2: worse than chat gpt at writing bulletry citing his poem Wow,
- 13:04Speaker 2: but his intelligence is comparable to that of a human being.
- 13:08Speaker 2: If AI ever reached data levels of intelligence, then maybe
- 13:13Speaker 2: copyright law could shift. But until then, no.
- 13:18Speaker 3: Oh wow, okay, yeah, okay, Look in the next ten years.
- 13:22Speaker 3: We've talked about this before, about AI and what I
- 13:25Speaker 3: think it's gonna be capable of, and we've talked about copyright,
- 13:28Speaker 3: you know, especially considering the fact that I think within
- 13:31Speaker 3: five years, if I if I want to, well, if
- 13:35Speaker 3: if I want to, when they let me, I'm pretty
- 13:37Speaker 3: sure that I'll be able to say, Hey, computer, I
- 13:39Speaker 3: want you to give me Deep Space nine, season eight,
- 13:43Speaker 3: episode one, forty five minutes long, give like three basic
- 13:47Speaker 3: points that I want to see in the episode, and
- 13:49Speaker 3: I'll be able to see a photorealistic episode. Yeah, I
- 13:52Speaker 3: think we're five years away from that. Now, are they
- 13:56Speaker 3: going to try to put restrictions on that? Copyright restrictions?
- 13:59Speaker 3: Because you know, if I go chat GBT, from what
- 14:03Speaker 3: I understand, there are certain things I can't ask it
- 14:05Speaker 3: to create for me, whether it's because of copyright or
- 14:08Speaker 3: decency or or whatever. Right, it won't give me an
- 14:13Speaker 3: image that I ask for if it's against their policies.
- 14:16Speaker 3: So I don't know how far they can, you know,
- 14:19Speaker 3: if i'll, I might the system might be capable of
- 14:23Speaker 3: fulfilling that request, but it might not allow it legally.
- 14:26Speaker 2: So there are tricks around that.
- 14:29Speaker 3: Oh, I'm sure there's yeah, you know, I mean, you know,
- 14:32Speaker 3: if you want to see something adult content that chat
- 14:35Speaker 3: g GBT won't let you see. I'm sure there are
- 14:38Speaker 3: other bots that will. But you know, that's going to
- 14:42Speaker 3: be a hot button issue in five yeah, like all
- 14:46Speaker 3: of a sudden, you know, all of a sudden, you know,
- 14:49Speaker 3: Mash season thirty starts showing up and it's like, well,
- 14:51Speaker 3: wait what you know? Or or you know, brand new
- 14:55Speaker 3: episodes of Deep Space nine and Voyager you're using to
- 15:00Speaker 3: realistic age appropriate act.
- 15:03Speaker 2: I cannot wait till I make Breaking Bad Paddington.
- 15:07Speaker 3: You could do it. You'll be able to, yes, yeah,
- 15:09Speaker 3: and you know, if it's just a matter of if
- 15:11Speaker 3: you go through the property, if you go through the
- 15:13Speaker 3: legal programs and stuff, if you'll be able to do it.
- 15:16Speaker 3: But oh yeah, in five years, photo realistic forty five
- 15:19Speaker 3: minute episodes of whatever you want.
- 15:21Speaker 2: Oh for sure, Yeah, I think that's coming. I really
- 15:24Speaker 2: do think that's coming. I think it'll be kind of
- 15:26Speaker 2: fun though, if you can do that, if you could
- 15:29Speaker 2: feed it like some of these comic book story arcs
- 15:33Speaker 2: that went through, yes, like like what was that Angel
- 15:38Speaker 2: season eight or Buffy season eight, or I think they
- 15:41Speaker 2: did the season eleven of of Smallville?
- 15:45Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, or like the book that I'm reading right now,
- 15:48Speaker 3: Star Trek the Next Generation teams up with the X Men.
- 15:52Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, stuff like that. That would be kind of neat.
- 15:56Speaker 3: So in which Aurora Monroe is having an affair with
- 16:04Speaker 3: Captain Picard.
- 16:06Speaker 2: Oh really, Oh that's interesting.
- 16:10Speaker 3: At least it looks like it's leading up to that.
- 16:12Speaker 3: So okay, I'll uh, I'll let everybody know Picard.
- 16:16Speaker 2: Is looking to change the weather. I see, yes, yeah.
- 16:19Speaker 3: I predict a high pressure system coming through, not a
- 16:25Speaker 3: cold front. No, not a cold front at all.
- 16:27Speaker 2: Okay, Okay, gotta.
- 16:29Speaker 3: Be weird because I don't care what two actors they
- 16:32Speaker 3: were to cut to cast in that kind of a movie,
- 16:36Speaker 3: Charles Xavier and Picard are gonna look similar either way.
- 16:40Speaker 2: Yeah, so yeah, that's that's a bit of a problem.
- 16:46Speaker 3: It's a good book, though, I'm having fun one, okay, Well,
- 16:48Speaker 3: cool and it's an actual book, like an actual I'm
- 16:51Speaker 3: actually reading words and letters and things, so.
- 16:54Speaker 2: Nice, all right, And then our last news story comes
- 16:59Speaker 2: to us from PAULI Gone, and I just thought I
- 17:01Speaker 2: would share this just because it's out there. It's not
- 17:04Speaker 2: really that big of a thing, but apparently you know,
- 17:07Speaker 2: there's this whole it's it's uh March madness NC double
- 17:13Speaker 2: a right.
- 17:15Speaker 3: And because of that, go Blue.
- 17:17Speaker 2: Yeah, Paramount Plus is now reduced itself for students for
- 17:23Speaker 2: a limited time. You can get a year of Paramount
- 17:26Speaker 2: Plus for fifty percent off as long as you verify
- 17:29Speaker 2: that you're a student. So I will have this story
- 17:33Speaker 2: link in the show notes. I think this is just
- 17:36Speaker 2: in the US, but basically you would end up paying
- 17:40Speaker 2: about thirty dollars for the year, and you would get
- 17:43Speaker 2: the ad supported version of Paramount Plus, so you'd be
- 17:47Speaker 2: able to watch Star Trek.
- 17:48Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 17:49Speaker 2: Yeah, so that's kind of cool. Just thought people would
- 17:54Speaker 2: want to know that if they don't already have a subscription, So.
- 17:58Speaker 3: Okay, yeah, I think that's a good deal. I mean,
- 18:01Speaker 3: Paramount Plus is not worth ten bucks a month, you know,
- 18:04Speaker 3: or fifteen bucks a month like some other like HBO
- 18:06Speaker 3: or Disney, Right, it's definitely worth you know, the sixty
- 18:11Speaker 3: dollars a year for the regular price had supported it.
- 18:14Speaker 3: It's definitely got some some good content.
- 18:17Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, it it's got a lot of the showtime
- 18:20Speaker 2: stuff too, which people don't talk about. Yeah, a lot
- 18:22Speaker 2: of that stuff is pretty pretty quality programming.
- 18:25Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah. And then the thirty dollars a year for students,
- 18:28Speaker 3: that's that's a no brainer for me. There's a lot
- 18:30Speaker 3: of content for thirty bucks. Yeah.
- 18:32Speaker 2: Hey, you can watch your Paw Patrol absolutely, yeah, all
- 18:36Speaker 2: your Dexter shows yet Young and the rest, all the
- 18:40Speaker 2: other Yellowstone shows except for the original.
- 18:42Speaker 3: Yes, all the Yellowstone shows except for Yellowstone, right right, Yeah,
- 18:47Speaker 3: I'm currently watching nineteen twenty three, so.
- 18:50Speaker 2: Okay, okay, yeah, I'm watching a Yellowstone Miami. Yeah right, yeah, yeah, Yeah,
- 18:57Speaker 2: it's pretty good.
- 18:58Speaker 3: That's great.
- 18:59Speaker 2: Yeah, it's weird. It's all Cubans, very angry, right yeah. Yeah. Kevin.
- 19:08Speaker 2: Kevin's trick, he says Taylor Sheridan, is basically it's his channel. Yeah.
- 19:12Speaker 2: It's getting that way, man.
- 19:13Speaker 3: I mean all the shows you know, I've been I
- 19:15Speaker 3: just started watching Tulsa King. Yeah, I've watched Land Man.
- 19:19Speaker 3: That was a good show. With Billy Bob Thornton. That
- 19:20Speaker 3: was a good show. Yellowstone eighteen ninety whatever and ninety
- 19:27Speaker 3: Yellowstone Nights Yellow. I mean they're all Tyler shared. I
- 19:30Speaker 3: mean Tyler Sheridan is that. I mean, he's the man
- 19:33Speaker 3: right now.
- 19:33Speaker 2: I mean they struck it rich with him, man.
- 19:37Speaker 3: Yeah, and he struck it rich with them.
- 19:40Speaker 2: Yeah for sure, for sure. So all right, well with that,
- 19:47Speaker 2: we should probably get to her main topic. Let's start
- 19:50Speaker 2: Trek into Darkness. So get your flashlights.
- 19:53Speaker 3: Kids, fun will now comment.
- 20:00Speaker 2: All right, So when we're talking star Trek into Darkness.
- 20:05Speaker 2: This film was released in twenty thirteen, so it's been
- 20:10Speaker 2: what twelve years?
- 20:11Speaker 3: Yep, been twelve years.
- 20:13Speaker 2: Surprised me, I thought, I didn't realize it was that long.
- 20:16Speaker 3: That old. I know, I know, the time seems to
- 20:18Speaker 3: be flying.
- 20:20Speaker 2: I pulled up the Rotten Tomato score and I want
- 20:22Speaker 2: to share this with you because I remember when this
- 20:25Speaker 2: came out, people were not happy, right right, So spoilers
- 20:32Speaker 2: if you haven't seen this film, guys, but come on
- 20:35Speaker 2: and start drinking into Darkness. Twelve years ago. We've seen it.
- 20:40Speaker 2: So this movie was not well received. People were mad.
- 20:46Speaker 2: I remember that they did a whole marketing campaign that
- 20:50Speaker 2: Benedict coumberdact character was going to be John Harrison, and
- 20:53Speaker 2: immediately everyone went, oh, it's going to be con and
- 20:57Speaker 2: the studio kept saying no, not Cone at all. No,
- 21:01Speaker 2: you guys are still no. Everybody saw through the traade
- 21:07Speaker 2: and uh. And then when it finally was revealed that
- 21:10Speaker 2: yes it is con. You know, people felt it was
- 21:14Speaker 2: just not that great and uh. But critically and audience wise,
- 21:23Speaker 2: it's got pretty good scores. Okay, and eighty four percent
- 21:26Speaker 2: from critics, eighty nine percent from uh viewers. That's a
- 21:32Speaker 2: lot higher than I thought.
- 21:34Speaker 3: That's pretty good. That's pretty good.
- 21:36Speaker 2: That's yeah, that's that's not terrible. So I don't know
- 21:43Speaker 2: what that says, but that's that's where it's at.
- 21:46Speaker 3: Well, I think that says that a lot of you know,
- 21:49Speaker 3: in two thousand and nine, when when the Star Trek
- 21:52Speaker 3: came out, it got a lot of non Trek people
- 21:59Speaker 3: to watch. I remember about this last week. You know,
- 22:02Speaker 3: some of my friends that were into Star Trek really
- 22:05Speaker 3: liked the two thousand and nine J. J. Abrams Star
- 22:08Speaker 3: Trek movie, and I think that that carried over to
- 22:12Speaker 3: this movie. And I think if you were able to
- 22:16Speaker 3: pull yourself away from Ricardo Montyman from Star Trek two,
- 22:21Speaker 3: from you know, our extremely emotional memories of watching Spock
- 22:27Speaker 3: die at the end of spoiler alert, at the end
- 22:31Speaker 3: of Star Trek two, if you were able to pull
- 22:33Speaker 3: yourself away from that or not experience that in the
- 22:35Speaker 3: first place, I think Into Darkness probably was a really
- 22:39Speaker 3: good film from a story standpoint. Star Trek fans, of course,
- 22:43Speaker 3: were going, what the hell they they they're rehashing Star
- 22:47Speaker 3: Trek two, and they're doing it too early, and you know,
- 22:50Speaker 3: because you know, even missus Strongbeard was asking me yesterday
- 22:54Speaker 3: what time what was the original timeline for when yeah,
- 22:58Speaker 3: Spock died and Kurt, I mean, was that and I'm like, no, no, no,
- 23:02Speaker 3: space Seed you know space Seed is when they originally
- 23:06Speaker 3: did the con story, but the whole you know, him
- 23:11Speaker 3: being re woken up and somebody dying. So that was
- 23:15Speaker 3: Star Trek too. That took place years later. It's very
- 23:18Speaker 3: confusing for even nonstar even Star Trek fans, right, it
- 23:22Speaker 3: was all over the place. Yeah.
- 23:24Speaker 2: Well, the film had a budget of about one hundred
- 23:26Speaker 2: and ninety million dollars. It ended up making just over
- 23:29Speaker 2: four hundred and sixty seven so success. Yeah it made money.
- 23:35Speaker 2: It didn't make nearly as much as they had hoped,
- 23:37Speaker 2: but yeah it made money.
- 23:44Speaker 3: So it made money. Yeah.
- 23:45Speaker 2: Kevin Strickie says the big issue with rehashing his older
- 23:48Speaker 2: fans remember.
- 23:49Speaker 3: Yeah exactly, yeah, exactly. Like I just said, you'd have
- 23:53Speaker 3: to like remove that part of your memory in order
- 23:57Speaker 3: to really enjoy this film, because any Star Trek fan
- 24:00Speaker 3: and I are gonna watch this movie and go, oh,
- 24:02Speaker 3: that's you know. He said that said him, And I
- 24:05Speaker 3: mean I remember they were trying to get in some
- 24:06Speaker 3: of the scenes. They were trying to get the cadence
- 24:09Speaker 3: of it. In the original Star Trek two, after Spock
- 24:14Speaker 3: had done what he did to save the ship, it
- 24:16Speaker 3: was McCoy that said that, called up to the bridge
- 24:19Speaker 3: and said better get down here, better hurry. And in
- 24:22Speaker 3: this movie it was Scott said it in the same
- 24:25Speaker 3: you know, yeah, get down here, better hurry. It was
- 24:30Speaker 3: the same cadence. They were trying to watch it, and
- 24:32Speaker 3: it's like, yeah, either be your own thing or don't.
- 24:36Speaker 2: Right, And I would say they would probably say it
- 24:38Speaker 2: was an homage. I will say this about the movie.
- 24:42Speaker 2: I really like the score. Michael Gieno did an amazing score, beautiful.
- 24:48Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 24:49Speaker 2: Michael Geno has since done a ton of films. For
- 24:52Speaker 2: those of you who don't know, he did the score
- 24:55Speaker 2: for Jurassic World. He's done a bunch of Marvel movies.
- 24:58Speaker 2: He also did Batman Rogue War. So this guy is
- 25:04Speaker 2: he's killing it.
- 25:05Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah, And I really like the I don't know
- 25:08Speaker 3: who did the original Star Trek, the original two thousand
- 25:12Speaker 3: and nine Star Treks. Yeah, I really like that music
- 25:18Speaker 3: that sounds. That soundtrack to me is in my top ten. Yeah,
- 25:22Speaker 3: it was.
- 25:22Speaker 2: It's really good.
- 25:23Speaker 3: Yeah, the score is.
- 25:26Speaker 2: I I will say though. So the premise of the film,
- 25:29Speaker 2: it's basically Ratha Con but Redone remixed. The the Federation
- 25:36Speaker 2: is attacked, there's there's some nine to eleven vibes there.
- 25:41Speaker 2: The Federation is attacked and basically all of the top
- 25:46Speaker 2: brass of the Federation come together to figure out what's
- 25:49Speaker 2: going on, and then that's when they're really attacked because
- 25:55Speaker 2: John Harrison aka Cohn knows their protocols and knows that
- 25:59Speaker 2: all of the leaders are going to be meeting in
- 26:01Speaker 2: one like situation room to figure out what to do,
- 26:04Speaker 2: and then that's when he attacks. Right from there, Kirk
- 26:09Speaker 2: is tasked with going to take out con and so
- 26:16Speaker 2: as they're on their way, that's when we have the
- 26:19Speaker 2: moral to Malemma of do we just kill this guy
- 26:21Speaker 2: or not. Kirk is very much on the side of yeah,
- 26:24Speaker 2: let's just kill him, forget it, but Spock helps him
- 26:26Speaker 2: remember that, Hey, that's not what we do here, man
- 26:30Speaker 2: and uh.
- 26:31Speaker 3: And so they.
- 26:32Speaker 2: Capture him and and they bring him they're going to
- 26:36Speaker 2: bring him back to Starfleet. That's when they're interaccepted by RoboCop,
- 26:40Speaker 2: and RoboCop says, yeah, that you were supposed to kill him.
- 26:44Speaker 2: And and from there we realize there's a horrible conspiracy,
- 26:48Speaker 2: a proud tradition of evil Starfleet admirals. And and we
- 26:52Speaker 2: meet the Evil Enterprise aka the Vengeance. The Enterprise that's
- 26:57Speaker 2: what it is.
- 26:58Speaker 3: I you know, and I'm looking at this. If if
- 27:02Speaker 3: the Vengeance can be made like this, why don't they
- 27:05Speaker 3: just make all Federation ships like this? Don't keep to yourself,
- 27:09Speaker 3: I mean you've got I mean, he's like, we've you know,
- 27:12Speaker 3: his his whole thing, robocops whole thing is we've got enemies.
- 27:15Speaker 3: We need to fight them. Hey, I got an idea.
- 27:17Speaker 3: Make all the ships like your ship. Yeah, you'll just
- 27:20Speaker 3: really decimate anybody you come across. Romulins doesn't matter.
- 27:25Speaker 2: I think in the premise of the movie it was
- 27:28Speaker 2: Kan who helped him create that ship. Okay, so that
- 27:31Speaker 2: ship is the prototype, and the idea is they're all
- 27:34Speaker 2: gonna start being that way.
- 27:36Speaker 3: Sure, but.
- 27:38Speaker 2: Yeah, because basically RoboCop is trying to sparkle war between
- 27:42Speaker 2: the Klingons and the Federation because he feels like war
- 27:45Speaker 2: is gonna happen anyways.
- 27:47Speaker 3: Okay, now, okay. For our younger viewers, the reason why
- 27:51Speaker 3: we keep saying RoboCop is because, yes, the admirals played
- 27:55Speaker 3: by Peter Weller, who famously played RoboCop in the nineteen
- 27:59Speaker 3: eighty in movie RoboCop, right, which if you haven't seen it,
- 28:03Speaker 3: it's a classic, and you must stop what you're doing
- 28:08Speaker 3: after the podcast and watch it right away.
- 28:09Speaker 2: Yeah, stop what you're doing, because I'm about to ruin
- 28:11Speaker 2: the image in the style that you're used to.
- 28:13Speaker 3: Okay, Yeah, can I talk. As we go through the synopsis,
- 28:23Speaker 3: there's this transwarp beaming thing that oh, there are going
- 28:31Speaker 3: to be so many issues. Yes, So okay, so I
- 28:34Speaker 3: guess now that Scotty that Spock told Scotty how he
- 28:38Speaker 3: made his own trans original original recipe Spot told new
- 28:43Speaker 3: recipe Scotti, this is how I'm giving you the transport
- 28:47Speaker 3: formula that you will come up with. But now you're
- 28:49Speaker 3: not going to come up with. But you got it now.
- 28:51Speaker 3: So now we can mean people not only at war,
- 28:53Speaker 3: but we can beam people from Earth pronos, yes like that. Yes, okay,
- 29:03Speaker 3: we don't need starships at all.
- 29:05Speaker 2: That's one of the issues. Absolutely.
- 29:09Speaker 3: And and he did this like front, like okay, where
- 29:12Speaker 3: is this transporter system was on board this this attack
- 29:16Speaker 3: ship that he was in, this little tiny scout was else.
- 29:19Speaker 3: How does this work?
- 29:21Speaker 2: He did it like just from his pocket portable transmitter.
- 29:25Speaker 3: Oh yeah, pocket portable transmitter. I've got an issue with
- 29:29Speaker 3: portable transporters too. Yeah. They've shown little you know, data
- 29:33Speaker 3: one and Paris had one, and people have shown these
- 29:35Speaker 3: little tiny things the transporter system in the Star Trek
- 29:40Speaker 3: Technical Manual. I don't mean to be get all nerdy
- 29:42Speaker 3: on you, but hold on, what did you say, Star Trek,
- 29:48Speaker 3: the transport system and the Star Trek.
- 29:51Speaker 2: Warning warning nerd Alert, nerd alert.
- 29:57Speaker 3: The Stock Trik Technical Manual shows that the t transporter
- 30:00Speaker 3: system is huge.
- 30:03Speaker 2: I'm sorry, the computer just had that auto alert.
- 30:05Speaker 3: And yeah, in the tech in the technical manual, it
- 30:08Speaker 3: shows that the transporter system is humongous, right, it has
- 30:13Speaker 3: to be. There's so many components to it, and you
- 30:16Speaker 3: can't I don't care if it's the thirty first century
- 30:19Speaker 3: or the first century or where you can't have it
- 30:21Speaker 3: be in this little tiny there's a lot to it.
- 30:24Speaker 3: There's a ton to it. So yeah, that right there,
- 30:27Speaker 3: I did. Okay that now I could I could go
- 30:31Speaker 3: with a tiny little thing that connects to a transporter,
- 30:36Speaker 3: like I have got this device that will hack into
- 30:39Speaker 3: the closest local transporter and transport move I can get
- 30:42Speaker 3: behind that. So when when Paris and in Star Trek
- 30:48Speaker 3: in Voyager, when when Paris and Kim were in an
- 30:52Speaker 3: alternate timeline and they were trying to escape, he whips
- 30:55Speaker 3: out this portable transporter. I don't like the portable transporter idea,
- 30:59Speaker 3: but if it's a hacking device that that sends out
- 31:01Speaker 3: a signal to the nearest transporter system and then uses it,
- 31:05Speaker 3: that I can buy right right. Yeah. The one of
- 31:09Speaker 3: the biggest plot holes in this movie is and and
- 31:12Speaker 3: in Star Trek, is this transwarp beaming?
- 31:16Speaker 2: Yeah, they didn't think it through when they came up
- 31:18Speaker 2: with it.
- 31:19Speaker 3: No, not at all.
- 31:20Speaker 2: It needed to have limitations, like it could only go
- 31:22Speaker 2: so far, or like you could build the device, but
- 31:26Speaker 2: the device is like a one time use, and so
- 31:28Speaker 2: every time you wanted to do it, you'd have to
- 31:30Speaker 2: rebuild an otherwise. Yeah, and it's got all you gotta
- 31:34Speaker 2: do is but like you can build the device, but
- 31:36Speaker 2: it has very rare components, so it's impossible to do
- 31:39Speaker 2: it or it's very difficult to do it, right.
- 31:41Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, yeah, but no, I just he just used
- 31:44Speaker 3: to He just used, you know, a commonly available thing
- 31:48Speaker 3: from Scottie.
- 31:49Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, you could build this. Yeah, he just mcguivered
- 31:52Speaker 2: it together.
- 31:53Speaker 3: Yeah he watched the YouTube video.
- 31:54Speaker 2: Yeah exactly. So okay, So RoboCop is not happy with
- 32:01Speaker 2: Kahan and Kirk, and so Con and Kirk decide to
- 32:05Speaker 2: team together to take down the evil Admiral, and so
- 32:08Speaker 2: they transport over to his ship and they fight him,
- 32:12Speaker 2: and then from there, basically Kirk is like, oh I'm
- 32:16Speaker 2: gonna take our Con is like, oh I'm gonna take
- 32:19Speaker 2: my revenge and take this badass ship. And now we're
- 32:21Speaker 2: gonna go target star Fleet headquarters. And at that point,
- 32:25Speaker 2: the Enterprise is so just in so much trouble, so
- 32:31Speaker 2: so battle damaged that it really can't put up a fight,
- 32:36Speaker 2: right and and so the warp core is offline and
- 32:40Speaker 2: completely damaged. And so someone needs to go into the
- 32:43Speaker 2: center of the warp corps realign the the flashlight or
- 32:48Speaker 2: whatever that things. And and once they do that, then
- 32:52Speaker 2: then power comes back on because at this point they're
- 32:55Speaker 2: free falling into Earth. They've been pulled into Earth's gravity field.
- 32:59Speaker 3: Yeah, yep.
- 33:00Speaker 2: So Kirk makes the ultimate sacrifice, goes in there. He
- 33:05Speaker 2: he kicks the flashlight on, but there's so much radiation
- 33:09Speaker 2: that it's it's it's a suicide mission.
- 33:12Speaker 3: Yep.
- 33:14Speaker 2: And at that point, Spot goes to see his friend,
- 33:18Speaker 2: but they are they are separated behind that glass wall.
- 33:22Speaker 2: Just like in Ratha Con when Spot gave himself up
- 33:26Speaker 2: to save the ship, this time it was the opposite,
- 33:29Speaker 2: and Kirk saved himself up.
- 33:30Speaker 3: Yep.
- 33:33Speaker 2: Oh, Kevin's Kevin's Trek. He says he really disliked how
- 33:35Speaker 2: they switched up the roles in that scene. I didn't
- 33:40Speaker 2: hate it. I didn't. I didn't love it, but I
- 33:44Speaker 2: didn't hate it.
- 33:45Speaker 3: Like it's hard to talk about, you know. I didn't
- 33:52Speaker 3: want this to turn into I like Star Trek two
- 33:54Speaker 3: so much better than this movie, because obviously Star Trek
- 33:56Speaker 3: two was a better movie than this. Even though Star
- 33:58Speaker 3: Trek two, I I'm in the and already start Trek
- 34:00Speaker 3: two is not my favorite Star Trek movie.
- 34:02Speaker 2: Yeah, it's not my favorite one either. It's good, Yeah, but.
- 34:06Speaker 3: I gotta say that the scene in Star Trek two,
- 34:10Speaker 3: it number one. The warp core is insanely complicated in
- 34:16Speaker 3: this movie. Yeah, it's it's a it's a Budweiser factory
- 34:20Speaker 3: meets the iPhone store meets an electrical power plant all
- 34:25Speaker 3: rolled into one. And I get that a warp drive
- 34:28Speaker 3: is probably complicated, and we've been spoiled over the years
- 34:31Speaker 3: with simplified warp drives. But the way that Spock in
- 34:39Speaker 3: Star Trek two fixed the warp core, it seemed more intimate.
- 34:45Speaker 3: The narrel he was in felt more intimate, the camera angles,
- 34:50Speaker 3: the fact that he was his face was literally all
- 34:52Speaker 3: up into the whatever radiators, radiation it was spewing out,
- 34:55Speaker 3: it was right there.
- 34:58Speaker 2: That scene is so iconic it's even been meaned to death,
- 35:03Speaker 2: like this ship a.
- 35:07Speaker 4: Yeah, mobcat yep, Yeah, Spock doing that doing a death
- 35:15Speaker 4: scene is so much more, is so much I was
- 35:17Speaker 4: gonna say, so much more better, so much more better
- 35:20Speaker 4: than so much better than Kirk doing a death scene,
- 35:22Speaker 4: especially knowing that Kirk's not really gonna die.
- 35:25Speaker 3: Right, but just the physical act of him saving the ship,
- 35:30Speaker 3: the simplicity of removing that thing, putting his gloved hands
- 35:34Speaker 3: into the thing. In Star Trek two, it was sort
- 35:39Speaker 3: of all up in his face. I thought the makeup
- 35:42Speaker 3: was better in Star Trek two. Yeah, radiation damage. I mean,
- 35:45Speaker 3: it just it was more personal, it was I just
- 35:50Speaker 3: it drew me in more than then jumping up on
- 35:53Speaker 3: the monkey bars and swinging and kicking it it just right,
- 35:56Speaker 3: you know, I didn't. I know, you can't see radio,
- 36:00Speaker 3: but they did a very good job visualizing it in
- 36:03Speaker 3: Starter two.
- 36:06Speaker 2: They they then, you know, so Kirk is dead, Spock
- 36:10Speaker 2: decides he's gonna go after Khan and get revenge for
- 36:13Speaker 2: his friend. So, uh, they they basically go down to
- 36:17Speaker 2: Earth because now that the work core is back online,
- 36:20Speaker 2: they can they can operate the enterprise. They go to
- 36:22Speaker 2: Earth and Spock goes after him, which physically makes sense
- 36:27Speaker 2: because Con is an augment. CON's got super strength. And
- 36:31Speaker 2: then Vulcans are stronger than humans, so they more physically
- 36:34Speaker 2: match up. So I did like that part of it,
- 36:37Speaker 2: that aspect. Yeah, that made sense to me, you know.
- 36:41Speaker 2: And so they fight and eventually Spock wins with the
- 36:44Speaker 2: help of Ahura and and so they were able to
- 36:48Speaker 2: capture Khan.
- 36:51Speaker 5: Uh.
- 36:51Speaker 2: What we had then learn is that kN has a
- 36:55Speaker 2: very special uh situation with his blood, and they use
- 37:01Speaker 2: it to then save Kirk and resurrect him. We are
- 37:06Speaker 2: introduced to con magic blood.
- 37:09Speaker 3: I don't like it.
- 37:11Speaker 2: Here's the thing. I think it sets up the next
- 37:14Speaker 2: movie very well because now we're in a federation that
- 37:17Speaker 2: has no death, that has no disease. Everything is fine.
- 37:21Speaker 2: It's a true utopia. What will they do for the
- 37:24Speaker 2: third film? We can go anywhere and we could live forever. Indeed,
- 37:29Speaker 2: we have immortality with our magic.
- 37:32Speaker 3: Blood from a genetically enhanced individual that was created in
- 37:36Speaker 3: the nineteen nineties, and.
- 37:38Speaker 2: We have him frozen back in his cryo tube, so
- 37:42Speaker 2: we can literally pull more magic blood whenever we need it,
- 37:45Speaker 2: whenever we want. We've got seventy other ones.
- 37:48Speaker 3: Plus you know, that's the second plot hole. That's the same.
- 37:51Speaker 2: Oh, that's the biggest plot hole, right there.
- 37:54Speaker 3: Yeah, I had a problem with just how far would
- 37:57Speaker 3: genetic manipulation help you create a super being. I'm not
- 38:05Speaker 3: sure that genetics alone would be able to allow you
- 38:09Speaker 3: to take Kirk knee kicks to the face over and
- 38:14Speaker 3: over and over again. I mean, he doesn't have in
- 38:17Speaker 3: vulnerable skin. He's just like even if he was three
- 38:21Speaker 3: times as strong, yeah, okay, and twice as intelligent. Yeah
- 38:26Speaker 3: you know I was twice as intelligence. That was still
- 38:28Speaker 3: give him an IQ of two hundred, and he would
- 38:30Speaker 3: still be And if his three times as strong, he
- 38:32Speaker 3: would still be able to bench press six hundred pounds, right,
- 38:35Speaker 3: you know that makes him I mean he that makes
- 38:39Speaker 3: him like incredibly yeah powered, But like the way they
- 38:45Speaker 3: portrayed it in this he was he had like I
- 38:48Speaker 3: don't I don't know, it was like Superman's strength. He
- 38:51Speaker 3: could when when Kirk was beating him and just mercilessly I.
- 38:56Speaker 2: Didn't and and Kait wasn't flinching and didn't show not
- 39:01Speaker 2: a cracked lip or or a face or nothing.
- 39:03Speaker 3: That was a little unrealistic to me.
- 39:05Speaker 2: Yeah, I I I was very frustrated with the Magic Blood.
- 39:14Speaker 2: I was very frustrated with that storyline, plot hole that said, though,
- 39:23Speaker 2: going back to this movie in the wake of Discovery
- 39:27Speaker 2: Picard the earlier seasons, perhaps to paraphrase Thanos, perhaps we
- 39:34Speaker 2: judged you too harshly.
- 39:39Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I agree.
- 39:42Speaker 2: Because I went through it and I was like, this
- 39:44Speaker 2: isn't great, but it's not terrible.
- 39:46Speaker 3: It's not terrible. Yeah, yeah, no, you're absolutely right. I
- 39:49Speaker 3: I enjoyed watching the film, I really yeah.
- 39:53Speaker 2: I will say I very much got the vibe of
- 39:56Speaker 2: strange new worlds throughout the movie.
- 39:59Speaker 3: Oh absolutely well. Well, and that brings up another point
- 40:02Speaker 3: something that they tried to do in the last movie
- 40:04Speaker 3: and they didn't have They had to cut it. The
- 40:06Speaker 3: Klingons talked about the Klingons, So you know, the Klingons
- 40:13Speaker 3: came out their different look, they're different ships, and people
- 40:17Speaker 3: are either I don't care or all up in arms.
- 40:20Speaker 3: And what I wanted to talk about was they painted
- 40:24Speaker 3: themselves in a corner. And the card Season three is
- 40:28Speaker 3: a good, good example of why that's a bad thing.
- 40:32Speaker 3: When you're making these movies and you're creating new Klingons,
- 40:36Speaker 3: you have to say to yourself in this franchise, will
- 40:40Speaker 3: we ever bring back another character of this species and
- 40:44Speaker 3: of this character of the species, which character is the
- 40:47Speaker 3: most iconic Wharf. You couldn't bring back Wharf and make
- 40:52Speaker 3: him look like that guy. I would burn Paramount Studios
- 40:55Speaker 3: to the ground. So why you've got a template. I'm
- 41:03Speaker 3: not saying everything has to be a carbon copy, but
- 41:06Speaker 3: let's use the template so that we can bring back
- 41:09Speaker 3: characters like Wharf, because if you brought back Wharf with
- 41:12Speaker 3: the original Michael Westmore makeup, you wouldn't think that these
- 41:15Speaker 3: guys were the same species.
- 41:16Speaker 2: No. Now, and for those of you listening, we have
- 41:20Speaker 2: an image of the the in the Darkness Klingon up
- 41:24Speaker 2: there right now.
- 41:25Speaker 3: He looks more reptilian. Yeah, like scales and not you know, skinfolds,
- 41:31Speaker 3: and I get the jewelry there. That's you know, for
- 41:34Speaker 3: in the in the behind the scenes they talked about
- 41:36Speaker 3: the jewelry is like for every kill they have, they
- 41:39Speaker 3: add a piece of jewelry or body art or shark mutilation.
- 41:43Speaker 2: So, yeah, it reminded me more of the Discovery Klingons.
- 41:48Speaker 3: Yeah, oh yeah, very much. So, yeah, you can Discovery
- 41:51Speaker 3: got their influence from.
- 41:52Speaker 2: Yeah, well it's a lot of the same people.
- 41:54Speaker 3: M hmmm.
- 41:55Speaker 2: Yeah, but yeah, I wasn't that mad about the Klingon
- 42:01Speaker 2: design at the time. But I didn't think it was
- 42:06Speaker 2: a good design, right, Like, I wasn't mad that they
- 42:09Speaker 2: changed it up. I was mad that I did not
- 42:12Speaker 2: like the look of it.
- 42:13Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I mean and like the bat leaf that
- 42:17Speaker 3: they had. It was clearly a bat leth, but they
- 42:21Speaker 3: had to make it different. They couldn't give it a
- 42:24Speaker 3: regular bat left design because of reasons. Right, I don't
- 42:28Speaker 3: think there would have been anything wrong with it, because
- 42:30Speaker 3: they had a really weirdly shaped the the the blade
- 42:34Speaker 3: design curved out but also curved in. It was just
- 42:39Speaker 3: just a weird choice. Yeah, it would you have been
- 42:42Speaker 3: mad if like just they were to hold in just
- 42:44Speaker 3: regular batlests. No, yeah, okay, no, even if like a
- 42:49Speaker 3: little more ornamental, like like the sort of kless.
- 42:54Speaker 2: Like if they had if they had like your like
- 42:56Speaker 2: your bathlet, right, but maybe put some I don't know,
- 42:59Speaker 2: saw tooths on them, right, right, just just to make
- 43:02Speaker 2: them a little bit different. Yeah, Like if you okay,
- 43:05Speaker 2: that that straight part in the middle, if you filled
- 43:07Speaker 2: that with saw too, so like you could like theoretically
- 43:10Speaker 2: cut through somebody. Right, Great, it's different, it's more it
- 43:14Speaker 2: looks more aggressive, and you've got your different design, but
- 43:18Speaker 2: you're still within, you know, within this style. So yeah,
- 43:24Speaker 2: absolutely yeah. Kevin Dregge said their Northern Klingons. Yeah yeah,
- 43:32Speaker 2: yeah yeah, so boy yeah again, I don't I don't
- 43:38Speaker 2: hate this movie, especially compared to like New Trek, but
- 43:43Speaker 2: just wasn't loving it.
- 43:46Speaker 3: I'll tell you what I didn't hate in the movie.
- 43:48Speaker 3: What I did kind of love in the movie. What's
- 43:50Speaker 3: that Alicia Eve?
- 43:52Speaker 2: Oh?
- 43:52Speaker 3: Yes, yes, she is a tall drink of ice water.
- 43:57Speaker 2: Indeed.
- 43:59Speaker 3: So Alisa Eve plays a doctor Carol Marcus in the movie.
- 44:04Speaker 3: She's a weapons expert, yes, and that that kind of
- 44:10Speaker 3: tracks because she's she's the one that in the in
- 44:13Speaker 3: the original movies created the Genesis device or helped her
- 44:17Speaker 3: Genesis device. So the fact that she's a weapon expert
- 44:20Speaker 3: here and with the Calvin timeline, you know, it sort
- 44:25Speaker 3: of makes sense that she's got an English accent, and
- 44:29Speaker 3: and that's been explained away in the in the commentary
- 44:33Speaker 3: by that her admiral father sent her away to boarding school,
- 44:39Speaker 3: so he, you know, resurrecting bad guys from the twentieth century.
- 44:46Speaker 3: So she went away to England, still became a member
- 44:50Speaker 3: of starfleet, still became a doctor, but that's why she's
- 44:54Speaker 3: you know, a strange from her dad and went away
- 44:57Speaker 3: to boarding school and speaks with an English accent.
- 44:59Speaker 2: Okay, much like French Picards speaks with an English accent.
- 45:03Speaker 3: Exactly, exactly, Yeah, that.
- 45:08Speaker 2: I mean, there's the gratuitous let's put her in her
- 45:10Speaker 2: underwear shot for no reason other than just to do it,
- 45:14Speaker 2: which people did sour on.
- 45:17Speaker 3: Yeah, I you know, from a move from a storytelling standpoint,
- 45:21Speaker 3: I was like, uh, yeah, you know, but she's gorgeous,
- 45:28Speaker 3: so I get right by the.
- 45:29Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I get it, but it's not the movie
- 45:32Speaker 2: tickets right right, Yeah, I get it, I get it.
- 45:36Speaker 2: But yes, it was. It was a it was cratuitous.
- 45:40Speaker 2: What else? Uh? I remember when it came out because
- 45:45Speaker 2: I did like the first one, the two thousand and
- 45:47Speaker 2: nine film, so and it had been a while because
- 45:50Speaker 2: it'd been like what four years between the two, which
- 45:53Speaker 2: was kind of surprising. Yeah, I just I don't remember
- 46:00Speaker 2: hating it as much as everyone else, But I don't
- 46:02Speaker 2: remember loving it as much as everybody else. Right, But okay,
- 46:08Speaker 2: what would you have done for a sequel instead? Would
- 46:12Speaker 2: you would you have gone this route with con would
- 46:14Speaker 2: you try to do something different?
- 46:17Speaker 3: You know. It's it's when you're doing something like Star Trek,
- 46:20Speaker 3: and I've always had this thought about you have this
- 46:24Speaker 3: impossible thing that you have to do, which is appease
- 46:27Speaker 3: the fans. Right, So, you know, there's the there's the
- 46:31Speaker 3: on the one side, you want to give them something familiar,
- 46:34Speaker 3: because there's Star Trek fans, because they like Star Trek
- 46:37Speaker 3: and they like Star Trek things. Right. On the other hand,
- 46:40Speaker 3: you need to bring a fresh perspective, and the fans
- 46:43Speaker 3: are gonna be pissed no matter which direction you go.
- 46:45Speaker 3: It's either there. They're gonna be like, what is this.
- 46:49Speaker 3: I've never seen this before? Why would you even do this?
- 46:51Speaker 3: You should have done a Star Trek movie, not this.
- 46:54Speaker 3: And then they do this and you're like, what are
- 46:55Speaker 3: you doing? We've already done this, We've already seen this
- 46:58Speaker 3: do something, so you can't you can't appease anybody. Yeah,
- 47:02Speaker 3: but I think an original story would have been would
- 47:04Speaker 3: have been better.
- 47:05Speaker 2: So I think, especially with these Kelvin movies, because you
- 47:10Speaker 2: very early on in the first film, you say, basically,
- 47:13Speaker 2: whatever your lives were going to be, it's different now.
- 47:16Speaker 2: So that gives you all the possibility to do all
- 47:18Speaker 2: the things right, right, And you've got so many decades
- 47:23Speaker 2: of Star Trek storylines to pull from, right, and so
- 47:28Speaker 2: what I would have done is, let's use this as
- 47:30Speaker 2: an opportunity to put the TOS crew in situations that
- 47:35Speaker 2: they would not normally be in, right, Right, So your
- 47:40Speaker 2: first movie was basically, let's let's put them together, Let's
- 47:43Speaker 2: have them have an adventure, they fight Nero and and great,
- 47:47Speaker 2: now they're now they're solidified as a crew, right. I
- 47:53Speaker 2: think you could have done because one of the knocks
- 47:55Speaker 2: that we get with all three of these movies is
- 47:57Speaker 2: that every single villain is I the Federation and I
- 48:01Speaker 2: want to stop them, right and then and then are
- 48:05Speaker 2: our crew needs to go stop the bad guy? I
- 48:07Speaker 2: think you could have done something different completely. I think
- 48:10Speaker 2: you could have done Okay, So, at the time, we
- 48:16Speaker 2: had Voyager, who did some pretty neat stuff with being
- 48:20Speaker 2: an isolated ship, right, and in the first film, you know,
- 48:25Speaker 2: the crew is very much attached to Starfleet. You could
- 48:27Speaker 2: have done a thing where, very much like Voyager, they
- 48:30Speaker 2: are now stranded on the other side of the galaxy
- 48:33Speaker 2: and they have to fend for themselves, right, So, so
- 48:38Speaker 2: now they don't have the support of Starfleet can this
- 48:41Speaker 2: crew still hold it together?
- 48:43Speaker 3: Right?
- 48:43Speaker 2: So that would be your your sequel film, is what
- 48:45Speaker 2: I would do, right, And then basically like it's them
- 48:50Speaker 2: versus like an evil enterprise and evil faction that crew
- 48:55Speaker 2: that is also stranded. And also like you know, basically
- 49:01Speaker 2: there's only one way out, but only one ship can
- 49:03Speaker 2: make it through, you know, yeah, and so and so
- 49:06Speaker 2: these two have to fight each other to get back
- 49:09Speaker 2: to where they want to be. And then at the
- 49:12Speaker 2: very end, what I would do is I would either
- 49:14Speaker 2: tease one of two things that the way through is
- 49:18Speaker 2: a Borg conduit and so now you're gonna do Tos
- 49:21Speaker 2: versus the Borg in your third film, or the way
- 49:25Speaker 2: through is a Q and now you're gonna do Q
- 49:29Speaker 2: versus Kirk okay for your third film. So that way,
- 49:34Speaker 2: you're it's different villains, it's different things. The other thing
- 49:37Speaker 2: I thought about was, well, you could also do where
- 49:40Speaker 2: they set it up that Okay, it's a Borg conduit
- 49:44Speaker 2: and they go through it and by the time they
- 49:46Speaker 2: get out, they land in the Gamma Quadrant and now
- 49:51Speaker 2: they're going to meet the Dominion. So each film is
- 49:56Speaker 2: a completely different villain. So like, okay, you're you're first
- 50:00Speaker 2: film is Evil Bad Guy. Your second film is Evil
- 50:02Speaker 2: Enterprise Crew. Your third film is Evil Federation The Dominion. Okay,
- 50:08Speaker 2: so that they're all significantly different, you know.
- 50:11Speaker 3: Yep, Yeah, and it keeps getting bigger and bigger.
- 50:15Speaker 2: Right, and the fact that that they're no longer connected
- 50:17Speaker 2: to Starfree, it gives you the chance to focus on
- 50:20Speaker 2: the characters within the ship, so we get to know
- 50:22Speaker 2: them better, we get to see them, you know, co
- 50:25Speaker 2: and coincide together all together more. That's kind of where
- 50:30Speaker 2: I would go with it.
- 50:31Speaker 3: I like it, Yeah, I like it. Yeah, you're you're
- 50:36Speaker 3: you're obviously a writer.
- 50:39Speaker 2: I try.
- 50:40Speaker 3: I try.
- 50:42Speaker 2: Yeah, Kevin straight, I want to see more bonding and
- 50:45Speaker 2: that's what you do.
- 50:46Speaker 3: Something like that.
- 50:47Speaker 2: You would get those moments because these are.
- 50:50Speaker 3: That we we like it, you know, for all of
- 50:51Speaker 3: its flaws. We really like this crew. We like yeah,
- 50:54Speaker 3: nation of this crew. You know, we we want to
- 50:57Speaker 3: see more of it, you know, even if you don't
- 50:59Speaker 3: agree with some of the relational things, you know, like
- 51:04Speaker 3: you know, the in in the movie, they they definitely
- 51:08Speaker 3: delve a little bit more into the spock Ohura relationship,
- 51:12Speaker 3: which in the original series and Strange New Worlds would
- 51:15Speaker 3: be icky, but in in this movie. You know, I
- 51:21Speaker 3: still think it's a little icky because he he was
- 51:24Speaker 3: a commander and she was a cadet.
- 51:26Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, that's I mean, there's some power dynamics there
- 51:30Speaker 2: that are not not the best. No, I agree, Kevin's trecky.
- 51:35Speaker 2: This is why Hollywood is stupid. Why don't you have
- 51:36Speaker 2: their job, Daniel, Well, I'm trying.
- 51:39Speaker 3: Uh yeah, uh, and I'm one behind you.
- 51:43Speaker 2: Thank you. Oh you're trying.
- 51:44Speaker 3: You've got by full support.
- 51:46Speaker 2: That's right, two people.
- 51:47Speaker 3: Yep. I think I speak for just about everybody who
- 51:51Speaker 3: listens to this podcast when we say that the ideas
- 51:54Speaker 3: that you've come up with are fantastic.
- 51:57Speaker 2: Oh well thanks, thank you. Yeah, you're stroking my ego.
- 52:01Speaker 2: Well yeah, well well we'll see what happens with it,
- 52:10Speaker 2: all right. So then we got one more film to review.
- 52:12Speaker 2: That'll be next week. We're gonna go Beyond Start Trek,
- 52:16Speaker 2: Beyond which finally we will get the return of the
- 52:19Speaker 2: Beastie Boys into Star Trek. Yes, yes, because that's what
- 52:23Speaker 2: was missing from this film, really.
- 52:24Speaker 3: We boys.
- 52:25Speaker 2: I mean, if if they were fighting con to Brass Monkey,
- 52:28Speaker 2: it would have been so much better.
- 52:32Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, yeah, Oh my goodness, yeah yeah, So overall,
- 52:36Speaker 3: what would you give this film.
- 52:39Speaker 2: Let's see on a scale, let's say one to five,
- 52:43Speaker 2: one being terrible, five being it may be like the
- 52:46Speaker 2: best film I've ever seen. I would give it like
- 52:49Speaker 2: a three and a half.
- 52:51Speaker 3: Okay, I was gonna give it a three.
- 52:53Speaker 2: Okay, Yeah, it's fine. It's not it's not great, it's
- 52:57Speaker 2: not terrible. I didn't hate watching it. I had my
- 52:59Speaker 2: Big Bull popcorn and I watched it Friday night and
- 53:02Speaker 2: it was fine.
- 53:03Speaker 3: Yeah. Sometimes with these rewatches, I just watched them in
- 53:06Speaker 3: the background. This time for these movies, I've actually sat down,
- 53:10Speaker 3: turn off the lights, you know, popcorn, soa yeah, and
- 53:13Speaker 3: actually watched them like I was watching the movie I
- 53:15Speaker 3: hadn't seen for the first you know. So the special
- 53:18Speaker 3: features were pretty good. Yeah. About the you know, from
- 53:22Speaker 3: the beginning of the movie to the end that you know,
- 53:23Speaker 3: the beginning of the movie, they talked about creating that
- 53:25Speaker 3: red planet with the white, crusty pasty people. Yes, they
- 53:31Speaker 3: talked about and this is why movies cost so much
- 53:35Speaker 3: to make. They talked about, well, we're gonna go to Hawaii.
- 53:38Speaker 3: So they went to Hawaii to look at the filming locations,
- 53:41Speaker 3: and Hawaii it turned out was gonna be just too expensive.
- 53:43Speaker 3: So in the end they ended up creating that forest
- 53:47Speaker 3: from sc that's crazy, absolutely insane. Yeah, they didn't want
- 53:54Speaker 3: any cg all those all the the the red stuff
- 53:58Speaker 3: that they're running through, that's all practical. It's all Every
- 54:01Speaker 3: leaf was stapled on individually. It was just insane. Watch
- 54:04Speaker 3: the special features that you've got the Blu ray. At
- 54:07Speaker 3: the end of the movie, there's there's the sort of
- 54:10Speaker 3: like the it looks like a graduation ceremony it starts.
- 54:14Speaker 3: They use some extras from an organization called The Mission Continues.
- 54:19Speaker 3: The Mission Continues as a veteran organization that sort of
- 54:22Speaker 3: pairs veterans that just got out of the service with
- 54:26Speaker 3: some volunteer opportunities. So they're not in every city, but
- 54:30Speaker 3: they're sort of nationwide, so you might want to check
- 54:32Speaker 3: them out. The Mission Continues. But overall, they talked about
- 54:37Speaker 3: bringing back Khan and they sort of said, well, you know,
- 54:43Speaker 3: we could go in a lot of different directions, but
- 54:45Speaker 3: we're going to go with Benjamin cumber Patch just because
- 54:50Speaker 3: he's a good actor, Okay, And they admitted that he
- 54:53Speaker 3: doesn't look anything like Ricardo Montyban. They weren't trying to
- 54:56Speaker 3: go for anybody that looked like Ricardo Montyban. Right, they
- 55:00Speaker 3: just they they they wanted to go with good over authenticity,
- 55:05Speaker 3: and some people might agree, some people might disagree.
- 55:07Speaker 2: But you know, thinking about it, you could have done
- 55:12Speaker 2: something interesting with con too. You could have done because
- 55:16Speaker 2: this is a whole new universe, right, everything's different. What
- 55:20Speaker 2: if Khan was the first soon Android some sort of
- 55:27Speaker 2: enhanced people, they're enhanced androids.
- 55:29Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, because if you look at Yeah, because you
- 55:33Speaker 3: can kind of look at the timeline your prize and
- 55:36Speaker 3: then how it diverges during during the Calvin incident, and
- 55:42Speaker 3: you could kind of Okay, so they kind of say
- 55:45Speaker 3: that they kind of went a different direction, and yeah,
- 55:48Speaker 3: they made yeah Soon type android.
- 55:50Speaker 2: Yeah, you'd have the conbat Yeah, because they.
- 55:53Speaker 3: Make in Star Trek Enterprise. They there is assume that yeah,
- 55:58Speaker 3: it's up with genetically enhanced people.
- 56:01Speaker 2: Right, and so then he's like robotics is the way
- 56:04Speaker 2: to go and right, right, Yeah, yeah, that could be interesting.
- 56:08Speaker 2: It's different. Yeah, it's just an idea. I don't know
- 56:11Speaker 2: like how far you'd go down that rabbit hole, but
- 56:13Speaker 2: it's an idea. Sure, Sure, I did look on IMDb.
- 56:17Speaker 2: I found one bit of trivia that I thought was hilarious.
- 56:20Speaker 2: According to them, you know, take this with a grain
- 56:22Speaker 2: of salt. There's no there's nothing on here that cites
- 56:25Speaker 2: the source for it. But it says, according to a
- 56:27Speaker 2: condition for Leonard Nimoy to appear in the film as Spock,
- 56:32Speaker 2: JJ Abrams was supposed to make sure that there was
- 56:35Speaker 2: ice cream or coffee ice cream, which Leonard Nimoy loved,
- 56:40Speaker 2: was available to Leonard at all times.
- 56:43Speaker 3: Well sure, I mean, look, if you're Leonard Nimoy, yeah,
- 56:47Speaker 3: and you want coffee ice cream as a condition of
- 56:50Speaker 3: you doing the movie, Yeah, they going to get them
- 56:53Speaker 3: coffee ice cream.
- 56:55Speaker 2: Here's the thing, he's what in one scene basically, Yes,
- 57:00Speaker 2: so he was there for two three days at most
- 57:02Speaker 2: at most, So yeah, that having ice cream onset totally
- 57:06Speaker 2: seems reasonable to me.
- 57:07Speaker 3: Yeah, well it should be worth noting.
- 57:10Speaker 1: It.
- 57:10Speaker 3: Said on IMDb also that this was Lennonimoy's final film role.
- 57:15Speaker 3: So yeah, it is true.
- 57:19Speaker 2: That is true.
- 57:20Speaker 3: So it made me. It really made me think about
- 57:23Speaker 3: the next film, and I'm looking forward to seeing that again.
- 57:26Speaker 2: Yeah. I have not seen Star Trek Beyond since the
- 57:29Speaker 2: movie theater.
- 57:30Speaker 3: Oh really, Okay, Yeah, so.
- 57:32Speaker 2: I'm I vaguely remember it. I have seen clips every
- 57:35Speaker 2: now and then on social media, but not the whole thing.
- 57:39Speaker 2: So I'm excited to see it.
- 57:40Speaker 3: I think generally speaking, most people put Star Trek, Star
- 57:47Speaker 3: Trek one or two thousand and nine was number one,
- 57:50Speaker 3: then Beyond then into Darkness.
- 57:52Speaker 2: I think, yeah, yeah, I think that's typically how they rained.
- 57:55Speaker 3: Yeah, but yeah, Beyond it's very good film.
- 57:59Speaker 2: Yeah. Well, let's uh, speaking of rankings, I did put
- 58:04Speaker 2: on social media to kind of get feedback for us.
- 58:07Speaker 2: I put a picture of all three Kirks, you know,
- 58:09Speaker 2: live action Kirks, and I said, hey, which one's your favorite?
- 58:13Speaker 2: And so we can talk about that, and let's let's
- 58:16Speaker 2: get to listener feedback.
- 58:17Speaker 3: Can we.
- 58:21Speaker 1: Listener feedback?
- 58:24Speaker 2: Sorry to mean to cut you off, it's okay.
- 58:26Speaker 3: Can we tell people how they can be part of
- 58:28Speaker 3: listener feedback?
- 58:29Speaker 2: Oh yeah, yeah, so they can x up in the
- 58:31Speaker 2: chat and we will bring them on. I know Chas
- 58:34Speaker 2: Biz likes to do that.
- 58:35Speaker 3: So if you're in the chat and YouTube, just just
- 58:39Speaker 3: type an X and Daniel will send you a link
- 58:43Speaker 3: to get on the show.
- 58:45Speaker 2: To get on the show, yeah, just make sure you
- 58:46Speaker 2: have a webcam and Mike, so that way you can
- 58:49Speaker 2: talk and join us. We also do have a a
- 58:53Speaker 2: phone number that you can leave us voicemails and we
- 58:56Speaker 2: will play them on the show. Let me get that number.
- 58:59Speaker 2: It is five seven zero six six one zero zero
- 59:03Speaker 2: zero one. That's five seven zero six six one zero
- 59:08Speaker 2: zero zero one. Love to play your voicemails. And of
- 59:11Speaker 2: course we're all over social media at trek cast tng
- 59:16Speaker 2: on Facebook, YouTube, uh, formerly Twitter, now x whatever that
- 59:22Speaker 2: one is, it's there, but you know, uh TikTok Instagram.
- 59:27Speaker 2: The Instagram account is just blowing up lately. Man, Holy cow.
- 59:32Speaker 3: Yeah good.
- 59:33Speaker 2: But yeah, so I did post, you know, hey, who's
- 59:38Speaker 2: your favorite Kirk? Hands down, far and away Shatner one.
- 59:43Speaker 2: Everybody loves Shatner, all right, But a lot of people
- 59:48Speaker 2: did put that they very much respected and enjoyed Chris Pine. Yes, yeah,
- 59:57Speaker 2: there were For Paul West, who plays Kirk on Strange Worlds.
- 1:00:03Speaker 2: It was a mixed bag. Most people did did enjoy him,
- 1:00:08Speaker 2: but felt like they have not seen enough of him
- 1:00:10Speaker 2: to really make a decision.
- 1:00:12Speaker 3: Yeah I don't like him.
- 1:00:13Speaker 2: Yeah it's fine, I don't like it. Yeah.
- 1:00:19Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:00:20Speaker 2: There were other people who did say, uh, the best
- 1:00:22Speaker 2: Kirk was with Jim carrey on in Living Color, So
- 1:00:29Speaker 2: I mean that's not bad. Yeah, yeah. And then one
- 1:00:33Speaker 2: or two people posted Tim Allen and said that this
- 1:00:36Speaker 2: was the best Kirk from Galaxy Quest.
- 1:00:38Speaker 3: I can't disagree.
- 1:00:40Speaker 2: Yeah, I can't either. That's a pretty strong argument. So yep,
- 1:00:45Speaker 2: all right, Well we got Chaz biz.
- 1:00:47Speaker 3: Let me bring one emails too.
- 1:00:48Speaker 2: Oh you do? Okay? Oh, let's do email and then
- 1:00:51Speaker 2: we'll get chass On.
- 1:00:53Speaker 3: Got one here from Douglas Alexander. He says, I remember
- 1:00:56Speaker 3: seeing the first photographs of the Enterprise from this movie
- 1:00:59Speaker 3: in May of two thousand and eight. They had released them.
- 1:01:02Speaker 3: They were going to take another full year to finish
- 1:01:04Speaker 3: the movie special effects, and wanted to give folks a
- 1:01:06Speaker 3: little taste. I guess honestly, was not keen on the
- 1:01:09Speaker 3: look of the ship, although I've come to love it since.
- 1:01:12Speaker 3: But what struck me was the bridge, all that white
- 1:01:15Speaker 3: and chrome. The thought that I had then and that
- 1:01:18Speaker 3: I have today, is that it reminded me of the
- 1:01:20Speaker 3: fragrance counters at Dillard's. Y'all's comparison of the bridge to
- 1:01:27Speaker 3: the Apple stores apt but Dylan's has more chrome. As
- 1:01:31Speaker 3: I said, I wasn't keen about the ship's design, but
- 1:01:33Speaker 3: I was eager for the new Star Trek. So eager
- 1:01:36Speaker 3: for the new Star Trek that I decided in my
- 1:01:37Speaker 3: head Cannon that this was going to be an alternate
- 1:01:39Speaker 3: universe story and as such I was going to love
- 1:01:42Speaker 3: it regardless. When that actually turned out to be the case,
- 1:01:45Speaker 3: I almost shouted, but with the rest of the audience
- 1:01:48Speaker 3: in consideration, I did not live long and prosper. My
- 1:01:51Speaker 3: dude's Doug Alexander commander looks like he's a Star Trek
- 1:01:55Speaker 3: fan Club Atlanta NCC one.
- 1:01:58Speaker 2: Ooh nice out there in Hotlanta. Y yeah, I okay.
- 1:02:05Speaker 2: As you're reading all that, all I'm thinking is like,
- 1:02:08Speaker 2: how much does that enterprise smell like Axe Bodies frae Yeah,
- 1:02:14Speaker 2: right right, yeah.
- 1:02:17Speaker 3: I got another one, fast Fast Bob Okay in the UK.
- 1:02:23Speaker 2: Oh nice.
- 1:02:24Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah. He's the one that originally sent me a
- 1:02:28Speaker 3: message on Messenger and then last a couple weeks ago,
- 1:02:31Speaker 3: but I couldn't access messenger and do the podcast at
- 1:02:33Speaker 3: the same time. Okay, okay, technical reasons. Hi, Scott, heard
- 1:02:38Speaker 3: your message on the show. Thanks for the email reminder.
- 1:02:41Speaker 3: First thing I want to say is I'm a huge
- 1:02:42Speaker 3: fan of the show. I've been listening religiously since twenty twenty.
- 1:02:47Speaker 3: I'm assuming he's talking about our show.
- 1:02:48Speaker 2: Yeah, you were forgiving my child.
- 1:02:50Speaker 3: Yeah. I am a painting contractor, so work alone a lot. Okay,
- 1:02:56Speaker 3: and when I have you guys playing in my headphones,
- 1:02:58Speaker 3: it's like hanging out with my buddies. Okay. With the
- 1:03:02Speaker 3: upcoming news about the con audio drama, I thought i'd
- 1:03:05Speaker 3: share two fan made audio dramas that I feel our
- 1:03:08Speaker 3: leaps and bounds above any of the Star Trek fan
- 1:03:12Speaker 3: live action shows. I've watched just one man's opinion and
- 1:03:16Speaker 3: he basically goes on to share links to too audio
- 1:03:22Speaker 3: like fan made audio books. I'll send you the links
- 1:03:26Speaker 3: and you can wherever you want to, Okay. The first
- 1:03:30Speaker 3: one is TG Timeline. The other one looks like it's
- 1:03:39Speaker 3: original series movie Timeline. He says both take a couple
- 1:03:42Speaker 3: of episodes to find their feet, but both are fantastic
- 1:03:44Speaker 3: listening for any Star Trek fan. So apparently they're episodic,
- 1:03:49Speaker 3: and both are more Star Trek like than any modern
- 1:03:52Speaker 3: Star Trek. Keep up the good work. Fast Bob from Russington, UK,
- 1:03:59Speaker 3: So fast, Bob, thank you very much. For the email.
- 1:04:02Speaker 2: Yeah, thanks for sending that.
- 1:04:03Speaker 3: And uh yeah, and and Douglas, thank you for the email.
- 1:04:06Speaker 3: So keep the emails up. Treck cast TG at gmail
- 1:04:10Speaker 3: dot com or you can reach me at strong Beard
- 1:04:15Speaker 3: one seven one at dot com. So thank you very
- 1:04:18Speaker 3: much for that.
- 1:04:19Speaker 2: Awesome All right, Chasminin has been waiting, poor guy. Uh
- 1:04:23Speaker 2: he's back there with the with the God Send device. Yeah,
- 1:04:27Speaker 2: you can't say this if I if I do it
- 1:04:32Speaker 2: like that.
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: There we go.
- 1:04:34Speaker 3: There you go.
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: Cha get the right arms?
- 1:04:39Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, man, not much? Would you? Did you watch
- 1:04:46Speaker 2: the movie?
- 1:04:47Speaker 1: No, but I've seen it. Yeah. That's one thing is
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: all these movies have seen so many times.
- 1:04:53Speaker 2: That okay, fair enough beat for beat.
- 1:04:56Speaker 1: So yeah, I will say this was my least favorite
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: of the trilogy.
- 1:05:02Speaker 2: Okay, yeah, that's the typical ranking for people.
- 1:05:04Speaker 1: Yeah, well, just because he rehashed like a classic. It'd
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: be like rehashing Empire strikes Back or something. Right, let's
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: take Empire strikes Back.
- 1:05:15Speaker 2: And that's why that's why I called the episode the
- 1:05:18Speaker 2: con strikes Back.
- 1:05:19Speaker 1: Yeah, yes, yeah, or the Con Awakens, you know, like
- 1:05:22Speaker 1: Force Awakens is the rehash of a New Hope pretty
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: much right, so right, and you don't want to do that,
- 1:05:30Speaker 1: you want to make something new or.
- 1:05:32Speaker 2: So let me ask you this, because I did read
- 1:05:35Speaker 2: somewhere that originally they wanted to get Benicio del Toro
- 1:05:40Speaker 2: to play con. Would that have improved things.
- 1:05:43Speaker 1: For you if you played it like the guy on
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: Star Wars, you know, like.
- 1:05:49Speaker 2: The Collector and Guardians a Galaxy.
- 1:05:51Speaker 3: Yeah, but not yeah, not the Collector.
- 1:05:55Speaker 1: He's a great actor. Like if he would have done
- 1:05:57Speaker 1: it like Ccario or something like that, Oh yeah, then yeah.
- 1:06:01Speaker 2: He could have been a very intimidating con.
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: Yes, very intimidating because on the Sacario he's amazing. Yeah,
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: and you can fill his presencies. Like this hit me.
- 1:06:12Speaker 2: Honestly when I read that that they wanted him, I
- 1:06:15Speaker 2: could see it. Man, it would have been great.
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: I think it would have been great too. Or you
- 1:06:20Speaker 1: gotta got a you know, Indian actor because it's Contoonian
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: saying oh yeah, yeah, you know, you could have had
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: Dave Patel, but he's just not big enough, you know.
- 1:06:29Speaker 2: Well and at the time you're thinking twelve years ago,
- 1:06:31Speaker 2: he was younger.
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: Too, yeah, and he just came, you know, off the
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: Oscar winning movie and everything, and so he was kind
- 1:06:37Speaker 1: of a yeah, hot new item. But the thing he
- 1:06:41Speaker 1: just wasn't old enough. He needed to be more sure,
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: and you'd have to have some actor like you said,
- 1:06:48Speaker 1: like a Pinzio adopt Toro was somebody that's you know,
- 1:06:51Speaker 1: somebody with age on them.
- 1:06:53Speaker 2: What have you got, Keanu Reeves?
- 1:06:58Speaker 3: I am gone?
- 1:07:00Speaker 2: How dare you?
- 1:07:01Speaker 1: Yeah? I don't just don't kill his dog?
- 1:07:04Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't kill.
- 1:07:07Speaker 1: The Federation is fucked.
- 1:07:11Speaker 2: The Federation has not been most excellent.
- 1:07:15Speaker 1: It just shoots the whole Enterprise killed his dog.
- 1:07:19Speaker 2: Con Wick.
- 1:07:23Speaker 1: Let's sa this John Wick movies.
- 1:07:25Speaker 2: He does the guitar riff on the Enterprise bridge.
- 1:07:32Speaker 3: Oh boy, stallions.
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: Off the phone booth, flew in there and they popped
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: out of there, you know Bill and Ted that.
- 1:07:44Speaker 2: Yeah, that'd be all right, that'll be all right.
- 1:07:46Speaker 3: Yeah, how would you rank the movie? Give it?
- 1:07:50Speaker 1: What's my ranking? What's my scale?
- 1:07:52Speaker 2: Five stars?
- 1:07:55Speaker 3: Two? Two?
- 1:07:56Speaker 2: Okay, two three?
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: You know it'd be like a two and a half.
- 1:08:00Speaker 3: So we have two and a half, three and three
- 1:08:04Speaker 3: and a half here.
- 1:08:04Speaker 2: Yeah, since you love your popcorn buckets, what should have
- 1:08:07Speaker 2: been the popcorn.
- 1:08:07Speaker 1: Bucket m a triple? Oh okay, yeah, popcorn bucket and
- 1:08:15Speaker 1: the butter just stick on the side.
- 1:08:21Speaker 2: You wouldn't want a vengeance popcorn bucket.
- 1:08:25Speaker 1: It whether given it away. This black enterprise that that
- 1:08:28Speaker 1: is so weak. Let's have an enterprise and we'll paint
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: it black.
- 1:08:34Speaker 3: Yeah, make it kind of a disci because they had
- 1:08:37Speaker 3: its sections in the middle that were hollow.
- 1:08:39Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, yeah, there's a lot of that that DNA
- 1:08:43Speaker 2: is there because it's a lot of the same people,
- 1:08:44Speaker 2: a lot of the same people. They even do the where
- 1:08:48Speaker 2: they're shooting across from the Enterprise to the Vengeance and
- 1:08:52Speaker 2: they've got the like heads up display and they're they're
- 1:08:53Speaker 2: in their suits and they're going yeah, like they did
- 1:08:57Speaker 2: that like I think twice in Discovery.
- 1:08:59Speaker 3: Yes, yeah, yeah, yeah, yep, yeah.
- 1:09:02Speaker 1: And you know, I like that part. I thought that
- 1:09:04Speaker 1: scene was really cool. I would My favorite part is
- 1:09:06Speaker 1: probably the first scene in the movie when they're on
- 1:09:10Speaker 1: the planet.
- 1:09:11Speaker 2: Oh yeah, because.
- 1:09:14Speaker 3: There's you know, searching, you know, ascending from the ocean.
- 1:09:22Speaker 1: Which made no sense.
- 1:09:23Speaker 3: It didn't make sense, and I got to think, but
- 1:09:26Speaker 3: it was a cool Could a starship be underwater? And
- 1:09:30Speaker 3: I'm like, from a from a leaking standpoint, yes, it
- 1:09:34Speaker 3: could be underwater because I would stand the vacuum space.
- 1:09:37Speaker 3: It probably is. It's probably airtight from a pressure standpoint.
- 1:09:41Speaker 3: I'm not maybe with the structural integior I don't know.
- 1:09:44Speaker 3: I could geek out about it, but well.
- 1:09:46Speaker 1: The shields and all that, it would have made more
- 1:09:49Speaker 1: sense they're hiding from another It would have been better
- 1:09:52Speaker 1: if they're hiding from another planet or somebody else and
- 1:09:57Speaker 1: they hid underwater because like the.
- 1:10:00Speaker 2: They had been transported to the Delta quadrant and had
- 1:10:01Speaker 2: to get out of there.
- 1:10:03Speaker 3: You know, even in today's technologies, you know, they've they've
- 1:10:06Speaker 3: painted the underside of jet planes blue. Yeah right, yeah,
- 1:10:11Speaker 3: you know, so just paint some happy little clouds. Yes,
- 1:10:14Speaker 3: I'm in the Enterprise. Yeah, you know, I mean bird.
- 1:10:19Speaker 1: Well, it's kind of like a green airplane when you
- 1:10:21Speaker 1: see that, when it's covered in green and looks like
- 1:10:23Speaker 1: a tree flying in the air.
- 1:10:25Speaker 5: Right.
- 1:10:27Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:10:28Speaker 1: I live by Air Force Space, so I always see
- 1:10:30Speaker 1: the B one bombers and and all those flyovers.
- 1:10:34Speaker 3: So nice.
- 1:10:35Speaker 1: And you know when a B one.
- 1:10:36Speaker 3: Bombers coming, so yeah, yeah.
- 1:10:39Speaker 1: Because it sounds like a rocket take it off.
- 1:10:41Speaker 3: Yeah, it's it's it's a rumble.
- 1:10:43Speaker 2: Yes, I don't know enough about cars about that.
- 1:10:47Speaker 3: Yeah, they had a b one Bomber was was the
- 1:10:52Speaker 3: main car in the Last Fast and Furious movie.
- 1:10:54Speaker 2: Oh okay, okay, is that the one that the Tomato
- 1:10:58Speaker 2: played in the in the Cars movie?
- 1:11:00Speaker 3: Yes exactly, Yeah, okay, yeah, yeah. I don't need to
- 1:11:03Speaker 3: know where I'm going. I just need to know where
- 1:11:05Speaker 3: I've been. Nice. Nice, But I.
- 1:11:13Speaker 1: Wish they would go back to different aliens different Yeah.
- 1:11:16Speaker 1: You know, it's the same thing with Strange New Worlds. Yea,
- 1:11:19Speaker 1: So it's strange new worlds.
- 1:11:21Speaker 2: We just want more exploring in our exploring show.
- 1:11:23Speaker 1: Well and evctually have the bad Admiral episode, because you're
- 1:11:27Speaker 1: going to have a bad.
- 1:11:27Speaker 2: Admiral or a bad captain.
- 1:11:29Speaker 1: Someone's world going to break the problem.
- 1:11:34Speaker 3: We want. It's like in Strange World season two what
- 1:11:36Speaker 3: we were saying, we want strange new worlds in Strange
- 1:11:39Speaker 3: New Worlds exactly exactly.
- 1:11:42Speaker 1: Well, there's other alien species you discovered, or you know,
- 1:11:46Speaker 1: you got the oryons, you got the oh what's the
- 1:11:49Speaker 1: guys with the yeah you gots or.
- 1:11:56Speaker 3: Or who were the two women that Kirk was having.
- 1:12:01Speaker 2: Oh yeah, the cat ladies, the cat ladies avatar tails.
- 1:12:05Speaker 1: Yeah, spring some of them back.
- 1:12:09Speaker 2: He was getting some tail literally he was getting tailed.
- 1:12:11Speaker 3: In the beginning of Star Trek Into Darkness, he was
- 1:12:14Speaker 3: in bed with two uh cat they had tails.
- 1:12:19Speaker 1: They're furries. They're furries, okay, hurries.
- 1:12:22Speaker 3: Yeah, I'd like to I'd like to know more about
- 1:12:27Speaker 3: just say, Kirk.
- 1:12:29Speaker 2: Kirk species you wanted to explore.
- 1:12:34Speaker 1: Kirk has a green son out there, he has a
- 1:12:37Speaker 1: Ryan's you know, yeah, andorian son. He has a cat son.
- 1:12:42Speaker 1: You know, every species there's a bastard children throughout the galaxy. Yeah,
- 1:12:52Speaker 1: that would.
- 1:12:52Speaker 2: Be a that would be a fun villain. Is like
- 1:12:54Speaker 2: one of Kirk's forgotten children. Yes, it's like I'm gonna
- 1:12:57Speaker 2: come kill my dad.
- 1:12:59Speaker 3: Yes, well, yeah, I mean Star Trek.
- 1:13:02Speaker 1: It would be cool if he was the alien. You know,
- 1:13:05Speaker 1: he's he's forgotten because Kirk, you know, he's kind of
- 1:13:09Speaker 1: like Rikery, And that'd be a fun thing with Riker
- 1:13:11Speaker 1: because Riker was promiscuous, so he Yeah.
- 1:13:17Speaker 3: Yeah, I wonder if if David Marcus now doesn't exist,
- 1:13:20Speaker 3: because it didn't look like Kirk and Carol Marcus hit
- 1:13:23Speaker 3: it off.
- 1:13:23Speaker 1: Well, the thing is, you know, it's the Calvin timeline.
- 1:13:28Speaker 3: He could have a daughter because no Denise Marcus.
- 1:13:33Speaker 1: Denise Marcus, you know, because you Marcus.
- 1:13:38Speaker 3: Or just market Marcus. No, I like Denise Marcus by
- 1:13:42Speaker 3: Margot Robbie.
- 1:13:44Speaker 2: Uh huh, yeah that'll work, that'll work.
- 1:13:48Speaker 1: Yes, all right, so you have Barbie yourself and yeah,
- 1:13:57Speaker 1: do you know anything? Will they ever start Trek four?
- 1:14:02Speaker 2: I don't think so.
- 1:14:03Speaker 3: Nope, Okay, and I don't think he's made.
- 1:14:06Speaker 2: Yeah, I think you got your trilogy. You're done.
- 1:14:08Speaker 3: They told their story. Yeah, I think.
- 1:14:11Speaker 2: At this point, it's been so long since the last one.
- 1:14:14Speaker 1: Yeah, it's been what twenty sixteen.
- 1:14:17Speaker 2: Yeah, something like that, because yeah, because.
- 1:14:19Speaker 1: The last you know, when track cast the last guys,
- 1:14:23Speaker 1: you know, the original the og Crew, Yeah, that was
- 1:14:28Speaker 1: the last movie. And I don't think are they going
- 1:14:31Speaker 1: to review that movie. I'm trying to think if they did.
- 1:14:33Speaker 2: I think they did.
- 1:14:34Speaker 1: I remember they did a prequel episode like before, and
- 1:14:39Speaker 1: they're gonna see it waiting and waiting.
- 1:14:41Speaker 3: It was like, yeah this movie Darren and and David promise. Yeah.
- 1:14:49Speaker 2: Yeah, but you're right, twenty sixteen, so yeah, it's it's
- 1:14:53Speaker 2: almost ten years of the nine years right now. So yeah, yeah,
- 1:14:57Speaker 2: I don't I don't think they're gonna do an fourth film. Yeah,
- 1:15:02Speaker 2: it wouldn't make sense at this point, just reboot it.
- 1:15:05Speaker 3: No, it's doesn't need to happen. So and you know
- 1:15:09Speaker 3: Antoni Yelchin isn't going.
- 1:15:11Speaker 1: To be able to Yeah, that one was a killer.
- 1:15:14Speaker 3: They could kill off this character. They could recast it.
- 1:15:16Speaker 3: And I don't like the idea of either one. So
- 1:15:17Speaker 3: I think that that one die.
- 1:15:19Speaker 1: You know, well they always say went to another starship
- 1:15:22Speaker 1: or something. You know if they did it, Yeah, they
- 1:15:25Speaker 1: still but is dead and they need to either do
- 1:15:31Speaker 1: another movie or do you know, actually do it maybe
- 1:15:35Speaker 1: a different series not focused on the enterprise.
- 1:15:40Speaker 2: I keep telling you guys, man, they need to do
- 1:15:42Speaker 2: TG but for the movies, reboot.
- 1:15:44Speaker 1: It, like.
- 1:15:49Speaker 2: Yeah, as the movies whole new characters playing those same characters.
- 1:15:54Speaker 3: They paramount would be rioted if that happened.
- 1:15:58Speaker 1: Yeah, I was like rebooting the cardot Riker.
- 1:16:02Speaker 3: Because you just you just rehashed the card You just
- 1:16:08Speaker 3: gave these characters in this timeline new life that if
- 1:16:11Speaker 3: you were to recast them now yeah, yeah, okay, then you.
- 1:16:16Speaker 1: Would have to wait another like ten twenty years.
- 1:16:18Speaker 2: You know from that the do Voyager Far and Away
- 1:16:21Speaker 2: Voyager has the numbers on streaming. People love that show.
- 1:16:25Speaker 6: I'm rewatching every Yeah, I think Voyager had more legs,
- 1:16:31Speaker 6: you know, afterwards, because of streaming, because people didn't watch
- 1:16:34Speaker 6: upn and then they miss Voyager.
- 1:16:38Speaker 3: Hey that's a great idea. Yeah, let's let's do a
- 1:16:43Speaker 3: Voyager movie recast.
- 1:16:46Speaker 2: Or what we would do we did a reboot? What
- 1:16:49Speaker 2: we would do with Voyager? How you would reboot it?
- 1:16:51Speaker 2: But yeah, we'll do We'll do a show something like that.
- 1:16:55Speaker 2: We still haven't done Enterprise though, because people feel it's
- 1:16:59Speaker 2: too close. You know, it's been like thirty years.
- 1:17:02Speaker 3: Yeah, well it's coming up on an hour twenty. Yeah,
- 1:17:07Speaker 3: you have one quick recommendation. Sure, sure, we watched. Uh,
- 1:17:12Speaker 3: this movie had a budget of three hundred and twenty
- 1:17:16Speaker 3: million dollars.
- 1:17:17Speaker 2: Old The Electric State, The.
- 1:17:19Speaker 3: Electric State Brothers and we watched. It's with Chris Pratt
- 1:17:24Speaker 3: and Millie Bobby Brown. Yep, yeah, Brusso Brothers who brought us,
- 1:17:28Speaker 3: you know, any game in the game Avengers. It's currently
- 1:17:33Speaker 3: sitting at I think fifteen percent on Rotten Tomatoes.
- 1:17:38Speaker 2: Yikes, tomatoes.
- 1:17:41Speaker 3: It was much better than that. My wife and I
- 1:17:44Speaker 3: watched it last night. We very much enjoyed the movie.
- 1:17:48Speaker 3: It was It's not at all anything like if you
- 1:17:51Speaker 3: have any expect expectations about the movie. Throw them out
- 1:17:54Speaker 3: the window. It's a great popcorn movie. It doesn't make
- 1:17:57Speaker 3: any sense. It's very silly, it's it's very emotional. And
- 1:18:03Speaker 3: just watched the movie. It was a lot of fun.
- 1:18:05Speaker 3: You'll enjoy it. It's much better than fifteen percent on
- 1:18:08Speaker 3: Rotten Tomatoes. So but the budget is what, Wow, three
- 1:18:13Speaker 3: and twenty million dollars. This is a Netflix movie movie. Yeah,
- 1:18:19Speaker 3: it is fantastic. I really like the acting Chris Pratt, Millie,
- 1:18:23Speaker 3: Bobby Brown. They had some great, great chemistry as far
- 1:18:27Speaker 3: as like, you know, the old it was kind of
- 1:18:29Speaker 3: an older brother, uh, you know, younger sister and peril
- 1:18:32Speaker 3: kind of vibe and it, yeah, it kind of it
- 1:18:37Speaker 3: kind of had mister Peanut. Yeah, and is in the
- 1:18:43Speaker 3: sponsor of the movie, so he's like, he's kind of
- 1:18:45Speaker 3: a good guy in the movie.
- 1:18:49Speaker 1: Of the movie.
- 1:18:50Speaker 3: So yeah, they had many Player one vibes. So okay, okay,
- 1:18:54Speaker 3: pretty Player one. You'll like this movie.
- 1:18:56Speaker 1: So yeah, I would say it's more a fifty percent.
- 1:19:01Speaker 3: I guess if it was me, I would say sixty
- 1:19:03Speaker 3: percent makes sense.
- 1:19:04Speaker 1: Yeah, I go to fifty. I enjoyed it. Yeah, I
- 1:19:09Speaker 1: didn't hate it, and to me, it's like a maybe,
- 1:19:12Speaker 1: if you're gonna spend three hundred and twenty million dollars,
- 1:19:14Speaker 1: when not release it in the theater to recoup some
- 1:19:17Speaker 1: of that money, right, right, because even if it makes
- 1:19:20Speaker 1: one hundred million dollars, two hundred million dollars, you still
- 1:19:23Speaker 1: get something. Then nothing.
- 1:19:24Speaker 3: Well, and I don't know the history of the movie.
- 1:19:26Speaker 3: Maybe they were going to and they just couldn't have
- 1:19:28Speaker 3: a studio.
- 1:19:28Speaker 1: Well no, Netflix doesn't release movies in the movie theater.
- 1:19:32Speaker 3: There originally going to be a Netflix movies.
- 1:19:34Speaker 1: I don't know any Yeah, anything that's Netflix is usually
- 1:19:37Speaker 1: primarily Netflix. You know, if they show it in the
- 1:19:40Speaker 1: movie theater, it might be one week only. That did
- 1:19:42Speaker 1: it with the Glass Onion with Daniel Craig.
- 1:19:45Speaker 2: Yeah, the Ryan to make it eligible for rewards.
- 1:19:48Speaker 1: So yes, they'll they'll do that, but they need to,
- 1:19:52Speaker 1: like I said, they need to have like a release window,
- 1:19:54Speaker 1: show them in the movie theater. If they're gonna spend
- 1:19:56Speaker 1: that type of money.
- 1:19:57Speaker 2: Yeah, for sure, because.
- 1:19:58Speaker 1: They're going to kill the streaming model wasting money like that.
- 1:20:01Speaker 1: Especially Oh yeah tomatoes.
- 1:20:03Speaker 2: Right, okay, all right, all right, well I think that's
- 1:20:07Speaker 2: pretty much wrapping it up.
- 1:20:09Speaker 3: Okay, all right.
- 1:20:10Speaker 2: We'll be back next week with Star Beyond.
- 1:20:13Speaker 3: Star Trek Beyond, all right, Yeah, way you guys.
