- 1:25Speaker 3: H yeah, yeh, hello.
- 2:07Speaker 4: Heat there. I just had a brilliant idea watching our
- 2:10Speaker 4: intro trying to color my hair. I think I should
- 2:15Speaker 4: try to color my hair the way it looks in
- 2:20Speaker 4: the animated picture of me.
- 2:23Speaker 2: I mean, I think it'd be fun, you know. I
- 2:26Speaker 2: think it's perfect, and then we debut do it in
- 2:29Speaker 2: July that.
- 2:31Speaker 4: I may have to send that to my hairstylist and say, hey,
- 2:35Speaker 4: is this possible? Or have I lost my mind? But anyway,
- 2:38Speaker 4: there's my age going.
- 2:40Speaker 2: Hey, fall no, I think it's great. In fact, one
- 2:45Speaker 2: of our mods, Lama not a drama Lama. She just
- 2:48Speaker 2: chopped off like a ton of hair and it looks amazing.
- 2:56Speaker 2: She looks like that bond villain. This is what I
- 2:59Speaker 2: told her. I was like, you look like had Bond villain.
- 3:00Speaker 2: I'd be okay with getting killed by So how did
- 3:06Speaker 2: she take that? Pretty well? I think.
- 3:12Speaker 4: Of count.
- 3:17Speaker 2: Yes, of course. Speaking of which, hello, hello there. There
- 3:27Speaker 2: is so much. There's so much to talk about tonight,
- 3:30Speaker 2: so much see best compliment ever, I know I know
- 3:35Speaker 2: how to compliment.
- 3:37Speaker 4: For a man. That's impressive.
- 3:40Speaker 2: Well, well I didn't say in real life, I'm great
- 3:43Speaker 2: at it, you know I do. Before before we get
- 3:47Speaker 2: into anything, I want to show off this early Father's
- 3:49Speaker 2: Day present that I got, which is the shirt, and
- 3:52Speaker 2: this is what this is, and this is what it says.
- 3:56Speaker 4: Of life like a fly. Oh my god, that is great,
- 4:06Speaker 4: isn't it that?
- 4:08Speaker 2: Yeah? If I'm blurry, it says live life like a book.
- 4:13Speaker 2: Florida would ban.
- 4:16Speaker 4: That's pretty cool. Are you going to bring that in
- 4:19Speaker 4: July when we hook up?
- 4:21Speaker 2: Well wait a minute, wait a minute, when we meet up,
- 4:26Speaker 2: I didn't you said that? Yeah there, yeah. Oh we're
- 4:31Speaker 2: going to Denver in a month. It's literally like thirty
- 4:33Speaker 2: days away. Uh. So we are going to be at
- 4:37Speaker 2: the True Crime Paranormal Podcast Festival. So we'll brew crime
- 4:43Speaker 2: and I'll be doing double time or if your Tenacious
- 4:46Speaker 2: D double team, which is a whole other thing and
- 4:51Speaker 2: also requires consent versus me just showing up at tables.
- 4:55Speaker 4: So well, pormal see that they announced who the rumor was.
- 5:05Speaker 4: But they will be there, I think not. We'll be
- 5:08Speaker 4: there and they will be doing a live So we
- 5:12Speaker 4: get hugs from Joey, who is yummy delicious if my
- 5:19Speaker 4: son was single. If my son was single, I would
- 5:24Speaker 4: so be setting those two up. He is yummy. I
- 5:27Speaker 4: think I see you one of his bum pictures before.
- 5:33Speaker 4: It can't be hotter than it is in Texas right now.
- 5:36Speaker 4: We've already hit ninety nine degrees and like seventy percent humidity.
- 5:41Speaker 4: I mean my hair was curled when I went out
- 5:43Speaker 4: to meetings today and this is what's left.
- 5:47Speaker 2: It's you know that phrase, like it's not necessarily the heat,
- 5:51Speaker 2: it's the humidity that'll kill you. I get it. It's true,
- 5:54Speaker 2: and especially in like a mascot suit. Totally true, one
- 5:57Speaker 2: hundred percent true. It can be one hundred and ten degrees,
- 5:59Speaker 2: but if there's humidity, I'm cool. However, if it's ninety
- 6:03Speaker 2: nine degrees and ten percent humidity, it's still effing ninety
- 6:07Speaker 2: nine degrees.
- 6:09Speaker 4: That's what I said. When we moved to Vegas. Everybody
- 6:12Speaker 4: was like, oh, but that's a dry heat. Okay, let
- 6:17Speaker 4: me tell you people, it is freaking hot in the
- 6:20Speaker 4: desert without humidity. It is hot.
- 6:25Speaker 2: It's dry because literally everything else sweat everywhere.
- 6:31Speaker 4: And we have somebody special watching tonight, my mother in law.
- 6:38Speaker 4: I logged her in on Jasper's account, so we call
- 6:41Speaker 4: her Bibby. Miss Bibby is watching us. So everybody'd be
- 6:44Speaker 4: nice to meet today.
- 6:49Speaker 2: Don't tell us what you really think.
- 6:51Speaker 4: Yeah, don't tell us what you really think of me.
- 6:53Speaker 4: As what I'm saying, I'll pay you later.
- 6:57Speaker 2: Everybody, what's up about? Hello?
- 7:02Speaker 5: Hell?
- 7:03Speaker 2: Hello? Amy Izzo says that she's in Denver or he's
- 7:08Speaker 2: or there in Denver. I don't want to assume. Uh,
- 7:14Speaker 2: people in here, thanks for joining us. We appreciate it.
- 7:18Speaker 4: I wouldn't know what Wait, what are we not supposed
- 7:20Speaker 4: to what are we not supposed to tell the spouses?
- 7:25Speaker 2: Oh about the you said hooking up earlier?
- 7:27Speaker 4: Oh? Hooking up? Oh no, I would Yeah, don't lie.
- 7:32Speaker 4: If you got to lie about it, you're in a
- 7:34Speaker 4: bad place.
- 7:37Speaker 2: It's that was Terry's real nice way of saying I
- 7:46Speaker 2: don't think so.
- 7:49Speaker 4: No, that is saying that Terry's just looking forward to
- 7:53Speaker 4: sleeping in a bed by herself with no one else.
- 7:58Speaker 2: I got it right the third time. Third time is
- 8:01Speaker 2: a charm for me. I apologize for making assumptions based
- 8:05Speaker 2: off a profile picture I should not have, but I'll
- 8:07Speaker 2: get it right. You know what's funny too, is usually
- 8:09Speaker 2: if I'm not sure they is where I go, and
- 8:14Speaker 2: it's easier to be corrected from they than make an
- 8:17Speaker 2: assumption on the on the the you know, on the
- 8:21Speaker 2: two the other side, I shall attempt to remember as
- 8:26Speaker 2: best as I can, genuinely. Captain said, we're usually so mean.
- 8:32Speaker 2: We're not at Staler Mars. I don't know the reference,
- 8:40Speaker 2: but now I kind of want.
- 8:41Speaker 4: That's an anime thing. Only reason I know that is
- 8:44Speaker 4: because my granddaughter monkey Butt, who's upset that she couldn't
- 8:48Speaker 4: be on Live with Us tonight because I promised her
- 8:52Speaker 4: mom I wouldn't put her face out on the internet,
- 8:54Speaker 4: and I couldn't think of a way to hide her face.
- 8:58Speaker 2: Just we'll just get a big we'll get a we'll
- 9:01Speaker 2: get a blank sheet of paper. We'll draw a smiley face.
- 9:03Speaker 2: And then we'll tape it to her forehead.
- 9:05Speaker 4: She wanted me to print out a picture of somebody
- 9:09Speaker 4: and then cut it out and put it on a
- 9:11Speaker 4: popsicle stick. I was worried she would get tired of
- 9:14Speaker 4: holding it and put it down, because that would be
- 9:17Speaker 4: so nermals.
- 9:18Speaker 5: See that's when you just staple oh to her head,
- 9:25Speaker 5: I'm gonna get arrested. Yeah, Before we hop into news.
- 9:33Speaker 2: And everything else, and by the way, just a preview,
- 9:36Speaker 2: we've got news both serious and silly, and then we
- 9:38Speaker 2: also have an update on Chase, and then we'll get
- 9:41Speaker 2: into our cases on celebrities, which if you saw the
- 9:44Speaker 2: thumbnail you'll know Laura Bush, Laurie Laughlin. But before that,
- 9:49Speaker 2: I just want to say, because Andrew reminded me with
- 9:52Speaker 2: her stuff, we are terry even on there. Recently we
- 9:59Speaker 2: have dramatic organized the courtyard. We've also just re we
- 10:04Speaker 2: instituted a new leveling system, which not only you get
- 10:08Speaker 2: levels the more you participate, but then as you get levels,
- 10:12Speaker 2: you also get access to more and you get to
- 10:15Speaker 2: do more. And then on top of that, we're also
- 10:18Speaker 2: starting the cool point system, so certain things that you do,
- 10:23Speaker 2: certain things that you use that kind of stuff will
- 10:26Speaker 2: earn you cool points, and you can use the cool
- 10:27Speaker 2: points in the store to buy things or gain access
- 10:31Speaker 2: to other things, which is really cool. And then one
- 10:35Speaker 2: of one of the levels, one of the levels on here,
- 10:41Speaker 2: I'll say one of the levels on here is if
- 10:44Speaker 2: you reach it, you have the option or possibility of
- 10:48Speaker 2: being on one of the one of the production shows
- 10:52Speaker 2: on this channel, which is cool. And then one of
- 10:55Speaker 2: the there's two cool point things where if you suggest
- 10:59Speaker 2: a case or a theme and Terry and I go
- 11:01Speaker 2: with it, you earn a certain number of cool points.
- 11:04Speaker 2: And if you suggest stupid news and things like that
- 11:07Speaker 2: for the Hey Ho show, you'll get a certain number
- 11:09Speaker 2: of points if we use those things, and of course
- 11:11Speaker 2: we will give you props.
- 11:13Speaker 4: So now I have a question, Yeah, do you and
- 11:16Speaker 4: I get to start at the top level or do
- 11:19Speaker 4: we still have to work our way up the level.
- 11:23Speaker 2: Everybody on the the on the channel is starting from zero,
- 11:27Speaker 2: so we're all starting zero, even the mods. So nobody no,
- 11:33Speaker 2: nobody puts baby in a corner, but we all get
- 11:36Speaker 2: put in the corner for this and then we will
- 11:38Speaker 2: work our way out of it.
- 11:41Speaker 4: Sounds good to me now that I'm figuring it out.
- 11:44Speaker 4: I've been a little bit more active in the discord
- 11:46Speaker 4: the last couple of days since I've loaded it to
- 11:49Speaker 4: my computer. It's much easier on the computer than it
- 11:53Speaker 4: is on the phone.
- 11:56Speaker 2: Yeah, we're all bottoms. That's not that's not right.
- 12:00Speaker 4: I'm a bottom today, today, today, today.
- 12:10Speaker 2: But yeah, if if you're interested in taking a look
- 12:12Speaker 2: at it and and exploring any of the mods can
- 12:15Speaker 2: help people out, uh in terms of navigating. But you
- 12:20Speaker 2: just click on the link head there, and it's totally
- 12:22Speaker 2: worth chilling. Yes, verse.
- 12:25Speaker 4: Yep, I am very versatile.
- 12:29Speaker 2: And bendy. I don't know, I have no idea twisty
- 12:35Speaker 2: and bendy. And I just hurt my back doing that,
- 12:38Speaker 2: So don't do that. Literally, I'm sitting on a computer
- 12:43Speaker 2: chair cushion that is meant for people who have sore backs.
- 12:47Speaker 2: I bought it. That's how ridiculous this is. At this point,
- 12:52Speaker 2: I had.
- 12:55Speaker 4: My mother in law hurt her neck. She had us
- 12:58Speaker 4: order this stuff called arthur is Hot. It is ten
- 13:02Speaker 4: times better than like the bin Gays bio freeze. It's
- 13:07Speaker 4: she's I mean, she's doing amazing with rubbing that on.
- 13:10Speaker 4: So get you some authritis Hot from Amazon and then
- 13:14Speaker 4: you can be hot.
- 13:14Speaker 2: Hey, that's funny. That's the first that just came up.
- 13:17Speaker 2: So all ready yep, because I've got Tiger Bohm that
- 13:19Speaker 2: am using and like icy hot patches and then the brace.
- 13:22Speaker 4: That I have, but those didn't work, but this helped her.
- 13:28Speaker 2: It's not that expensive either. I'm in and you'll be hot. Uh,
- 13:35Speaker 2: then I'll be hot for once in my life. Oh
- 13:39Speaker 2: my gosh, I always hot in the maskot.
- 13:43Speaker 4: You're always hot in the mask suit.
- 13:46Speaker 2: Yeah. Last Saturday it was one and ten degrees in
- 13:50Speaker 2: that suit, so oh that's not safe. I drank five
- 13:57Speaker 2: liters of water before throughout the day it was fine.
- 14:00Speaker 4: Oh okay, please be careful.
- 14:04Speaker 2: My body's used to it. Okay, all right, do you
- 14:09Speaker 2: want to do? We want to do news? Next right? News?
- 14:13Speaker 4: Yeah, we do news or yeah, whatever you would like.
- 14:16Speaker 6: Dear, yes, dear, as long as you don't say it's fine,
- 14:22Speaker 6: We're good. It's fine, fine, all right?
- 14:37Speaker 2: Do you want to go or do you want?
- 14:40Speaker 4: There's a fly flying around me and I go away.
- 14:44Speaker 4: It landed on my nose.
- 14:46Speaker 2: Far y'all didn't know this, but Terry is a secret ninja.
- 14:51Speaker 2: She fights the invisible. I seriously thought you were saying,
- 14:56Speaker 2: and the video is done. No, no, no, you're going
- 14:58Speaker 2: after something.
- 15:02Speaker 4: Guys, it's been a rough pointing four hours.
- 15:03Speaker 2: Okay, it'll be all right, It'll be okay. You have
- 15:07Speaker 2: your the pe Jasper. It'll be cool.
- 15:10Speaker 4: Can I start with my news story first? Heck? Yeah,
- 15:16Speaker 4: Travis and Jason Kelsey confess they don't wash always wash
- 15:21Speaker 4: their feet, and a dermatologists agreed with them. You don't
- 15:28Speaker 4: always have to wash every part of your body, and
- 15:32Speaker 4: it's okay. I personally think they're football players. Their feet
- 15:38Speaker 4: are in some smelly, sweaty stuff, and I really think
- 15:42Speaker 4: they need to scrupt them.
- 15:44Speaker 2: Is it sad that I'm almost hoping that's the reason
- 15:48Speaker 2: for the breakup, so that I can hear the song
- 15:51Speaker 2: on smelly feet is Blake you can run much feet.
- 16:00Speaker 4: And then my other thought was because I know, growing up,
- 16:03Speaker 4: I always heard if guys got athlete's feet, you just
- 16:07Speaker 4: pee on your feet in the shower. And they're athletes.
- 16:13Speaker 4: So oh no, no, no, no, no, no they did not.
- 16:16Speaker 2: They're still a thing.
- 16:18Speaker 4: But if they pee on their feet, do you think
- 16:20Speaker 4: they wash them?
- 16:24Speaker 2: I'm looking this up. I'm looking this up.
- 16:27Speaker 4: I mean, now I will say this. If you're washing
- 16:30Speaker 4: your hair and all of your body, all of the
- 16:32Speaker 4: soap runs off your feet. No, Taylor and Travis did
- 16:39Speaker 4: not break up. Let's not start a wild rumor because
- 16:42Speaker 4: I don't need all the swifties showing up at my
- 16:44Speaker 4: house to kill me. We were saying, if they break up,
- 16:48Speaker 4: we want it to be because he doesn't wash his feet.
- 16:54Speaker 2: So some people say, you're in my cure athlete's foot
- 16:59Speaker 2: foot feet Who knows. Because of the urrea that urine contains,
- 17:03Speaker 2: it would have to be a very large amount of uria,
- 17:06Speaker 2: more than how much is normally found in urine for
- 17:08Speaker 2: it to be considered useful to treat tinya pet pettis
- 17:11Speaker 2: petis athlete's foot, So in reality, probably not. And also,
- 17:16Speaker 2: if you have an extensive amount of urrea in your urine,
- 17:19Speaker 2: you probably need to go see somebody about that. More
- 17:22Speaker 2: than the foot. So you gotta get between the toes.
- 17:29Speaker 4: I mean, I'm hoping nobody is sucking their toes because
- 17:33Speaker 4: they have toe chamb.
- 17:36Speaker 2: I mean, that's how that's how I. That's that's how I.
- 17:39Speaker 2: You know, that's that's how I picked up all my girlfriends.
- 17:42Speaker 2: I was like, hey, do you mind if could you
- 17:45Speaker 2: come pee on my toes. That sounds terrible, you know what.
- 17:48Speaker 2: Somebody's go isolate that and I Am going to get
- 17:51Speaker 2: ripped to shreds. It's going to happen. Well, I will
- 17:57Speaker 2: tell you this.
- 17:57Speaker 4: If we're ever at the beach and I asked you
- 17:59Speaker 4: to pee on me, it's because I've been stung by
- 18:02Speaker 4: a jellyfish.
- 18:08Speaker 2: Oh for sure. Definitely with Travis that that was like
- 18:13Speaker 2: larger news than anything religious, political lawmaking. That was the thing.
- 18:20Speaker 4: For sure, that was the thing.
- 18:23Speaker 2: Mind blown. So always foot stuff, it never fails, never fails.
- 18:29Speaker 2: Always foot stuff.
- 18:31Speaker 4: Okay, would you rather foot stuff?
- 18:34Speaker 2: Oh see now it's it's either foot stuff or butt
- 18:37Speaker 2: stuff around here.
- 18:38Speaker 4: So either.
- 18:44Speaker 2: Okay, that's one of the two, or you could put
- 18:50Speaker 2: the toe in the all right, okay, all right, that's
- 18:56Speaker 2: a whole other level of I'm not there. Okay. So
- 18:59Speaker 2: I want to say that the news that I'm I
- 19:04Speaker 2: can't with you guys tonight, Terry asking the real questions.
- 19:08Speaker 2: The news that I have sent tonight, Three of them
- 19:12Speaker 2: are from Angie, one of them is from Bells. So
- 19:15Speaker 2: thank you, uh for thank you for thank you to
- 19:18Speaker 2: thank you both for providing me with news that you
- 19:21Speaker 2: didn't know about, yes, ma'am.
- 19:25Speaker 4: What's this?
- 19:29Speaker 3: Why not?
- 19:32Speaker 2: Why not too?
- 19:34Speaker 4: I don't know. I know a blow that.
- 19:38Speaker 2: No blow inglis that's the that's the bowling for soup song.
- 19:42Speaker 2: But all right, so while we're figuring that one out,
- 19:46Speaker 2: JA Jason Kandell wrote on Long Crime the following no
- 19:51Speaker 2: charges will be filed against the northern California second grade
- 19:54Speaker 2: teacher who police said was teaching with a blood alcohol
- 19:57Speaker 2: content level two times the legal limit to The teacher
- 20:01Speaker 2: was arrested for DUI and child endangerment on the morning
- 20:05Speaker 2: of October second, while teaching at Nuestro Elementary and Live Oak,
- 20:10Speaker 2: an hour north of Sacramento, after a coworker reported her
- 20:15Speaker 2: being her being possibly drunk, so she was jailed and
- 20:20Speaker 2: an investigation was launched, but Sutter County District Attorney Jennifer
- 20:24Speaker 2: Dupree said Monday her office declined to prosecute the case,
- 20:29Speaker 2: and I quote she says it's not illegal to teach drunk.
- 20:35Speaker 2: The teacher drove to school that day. Deputies say she
- 20:38Speaker 2: failed a field sobriety test, and her blood alcohol content
- 20:41Speaker 2: was nearly twice that legal limit, nearly two hours after
- 20:44Speaker 2: authorities had first contacted her, but prosecutors said they couldn't
- 20:48Speaker 2: prove that she drove drunk. They added that their position
- 20:52Speaker 2: on criminal charges does not impact the district's decision on
- 20:55Speaker 2: the teacher's employment. So I guess it's not eagle to
- 21:00Speaker 2: teach drunk. I always saw teachers as kind of like,
- 21:06Speaker 2: especially elementary Like, Yeah, I thought that was more like
- 21:13Speaker 2: at a certain point, the teachers the care of the
- 21:15Speaker 2: kids or what's that called. Maybe it's just the school
- 21:18Speaker 2: in general as a being. But if you're drunk, you
- 21:23Speaker 2: got the child endangerment portion at least, right, and drunk
- 21:26Speaker 2: in public? Is there not a drunken par.
- 21:29Speaker 4: What if a school shooting happens, which we don't want
- 21:32Speaker 4: to happen, but we know they happen, and the teacher's
- 21:34Speaker 4: too drunk to take care of the kids, you're endangering
- 21:38Speaker 4: the child because you can't take care of them. I mean,
- 21:42Speaker 4: come on, let's think outside of the box.
- 21:45Speaker 2: Right. Well, yeah, I've seen we watched a YouTube video
- 21:49Speaker 2: in night Court edition one of a woman who was
- 21:52Speaker 2: superer duper drunk and was arrested. But it must be
- 21:57Speaker 2: it must be a I don't know, it must be
- 21:58Speaker 2: a California thing. In this case, you're right, it is
- 22:01Speaker 2: not ethic. Well it's no, it's not. But like one
- 22:05Speaker 2: of the one of the parents stated the obvious quote,
- 22:09Speaker 2: I thought it was crazy. I think she should have
- 22:10Speaker 2: called out of work. I know people have fun weekends,
- 22:13Speaker 2: but that was definitely not okay. As an educator, I agree,
- 22:17Speaker 2: But do I still compa need to get paid more
- 22:20Speaker 2: and are supported and can pick their own books. Absolutely,
- 22:24Speaker 2: I don't pick your own liquor. We're teaching.
- 22:27Speaker 4: Well and definitely not an elementary. I mean, if you're
- 22:31Speaker 4: a high school teacher, I could see you might need
- 22:33Speaker 4: to do a little nip before class to put up
- 22:36Speaker 4: with those kids.
- 22:37Speaker 2: Only if it's followed by a tuck. I mean, if
- 22:43Speaker 2: you're a drag teacher, there's always tucking. So okay, do
- 22:48Speaker 2: you have another one for us?
- 22:51Speaker 4: I do I need this fly to go away? So
- 22:57Speaker 4: since we're doing celebrity crimes, I thought this one was
- 23:00Speaker 4: kind of cool, even though it's not a crime. Why.
- 23:03Speaker 4: Billie Eilish says the most frustrating thing about fame is
- 23:07Speaker 4: that you can't defend yourself. So when people talk smack
- 23:12Speaker 4: about you, say rumors, they're told by their managers. Zip
- 23:17Speaker 4: it you're gonna make it worse. And out of all
- 23:21Speaker 4: of the problems with living your life in a fish bowl,
- 23:24Speaker 4: it's that you can't defend yourself. I thought that was
- 23:27Speaker 4: kind of interesting.
- 23:32Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, what's that's that's right.
- 23:38Speaker 4: Away.
- 23:39Speaker 2: I don't ah the terry. Yeah, this is this is
- 23:43Speaker 2: a piece of advice that I've given certain people repeatedly
- 23:47Speaker 2: in terms of being online in a presence, and that is,
- 23:51Speaker 2: I know it's hard, don't fight back. You're not gonna
- 23:57Speaker 2: win if you don't fight back. Yes, they're gonna say, oh,
- 24:01Speaker 2: they're not fighting back. What's wrong If you fight back, though,
- 24:04Speaker 2: you're giving them plenty of ammo to go, Look what happened,
- 24:08Speaker 2: Look what they did.
- 24:09Speaker 4: Yeah, they can't.
- 24:11Speaker 2: They can't make anything off of nothing other than what's
- 24:14Speaker 2: going on in their own heads, you know. And usually
- 24:16Speaker 2: when I give that advice, it wasn't followed. But you know,
- 24:23Speaker 2: it's troubling. Really, it's not worth it. People are not
- 24:28Speaker 2: worth it, right, exactly right. There's no winning whatsoever. And
- 24:33Speaker 2: that's the nature of social meda media these days. That's
- 24:36Speaker 2: definitely the nature of places like Twitter x whatever. So
- 24:42Speaker 2: so just don't you know, make like the opposite of
- 24:45Speaker 2: Nike and just don't. It is hard.
- 24:50Speaker 4: But I just thought that was interesting because that would
- 24:54Speaker 4: not be my first thing that I would think. I
- 24:57Speaker 4: would be more upset that you wouldn't have privacy, you know,
- 25:01Speaker 4: you go places you can't. That would be worse for me.
- 25:07Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean that would that would definitely suck. I
- 25:10Speaker 2: think though, if you think about it, like, at the
- 25:15Speaker 2: end of the day, privacy can be within a home
- 25:17Speaker 2: if you allow it to be. But like social media
- 25:20Speaker 2: follows you for effing ever everywhere, and so it's just
- 25:24Speaker 2: a constant nagging, right, I think it is important to
- 25:29Speaker 2: responsibly stick up for yourself. But at the the the
- 25:34Speaker 2: when you start stepping over that or you yeah, it
- 25:39Speaker 2: just doesn't it doesn't work out well, I mean right,
- 25:48Speaker 2: and even if it causes more viewership or whatever, is
- 25:51Speaker 2: it really worth it to mental health to do that
- 25:53Speaker 2: or can you just put them on mute? You know,
- 26:00Speaker 2: you can't control the narrative one hundred percent of the time.
- 26:03Speaker 2: You just can't. At some point you're sleeping, so stop trying.
- 26:08Speaker 2: Just stop. Anyways, this is accurate. Did you see this?
- 26:20Speaker 2: Have you heard this story?
- 26:22Speaker 4: I have not. I just heard that there was a
- 26:25Speaker 4: whole thing about James Spader dying. I missed that whole
- 26:29Speaker 4: snap food this week. Yeah, there was a as a joke,
- 26:33Speaker 4: company announced that he died of a heart attack. So
- 26:37Speaker 4: but he did not. Taylor moms is basically Spider Man.
- 26:41Speaker 4: I need more clarification.
- 26:42Speaker 2: Okay, So I'm going to give you clarification. Get ready,
- 26:46Speaker 2: So do you know who Taylor Momson is?
- 26:49Speaker 5: No?
- 26:51Speaker 2: Okay, Taylor Momson played uh Cindylo who in The Grinch
- 26:56Speaker 2: with Yeah, she's not really Cindy Lou. That's that's her now. Oh,
- 27:05Speaker 2: and she is the She is the lead singer of
- 27:09Speaker 2: a band that I've seen actually live called the Pretty Reckless.
- 27:11Speaker 2: She's very good. However, uh when was it? About a
- 27:17Speaker 2: week ago? She was on stage and she was bitten
- 27:20Speaker 2: by a bat. She was performing witches Burn at the
- 27:26Speaker 2: time as part of the Pretty Reckless opening act for
- 27:30Speaker 2: ac DC's Power Up Tour. You heard that right, although
- 27:34Speaker 2: she thought the bat was cute and also held on
- 27:37Speaker 2: for dear life as it was biting. So she's basically
- 27:40Speaker 2: like batwoman. Oh yeah, that's right. She was on gossip
- 27:43Speaker 2: Girl too, That's correct, gossip Girl.
- 27:45Speaker 4: What Bat's why she looks so familiar?
- 27:49Speaker 2: Yeah, so yeah, yeah, she's bitten during her How rock
- 27:54Speaker 2: and roll is that?
- 27:56Speaker 4: Because why isn't it Ozzie Osbourne who they study? I
- 28:00Speaker 4: head off a bat or something.
- 28:02Speaker 2: It's this, you know what. It never actually happened. The
- 28:04Speaker 2: bat was offended. It came back to get tailored. That's
- 28:06Speaker 2: what happened.
- 28:08Speaker 4: But I mean, after what happened to me from a
- 28:11Speaker 4: cat bite, I mean I still have a nod in
- 28:14Speaker 4: my arm from the cat scratch fever. I can't imagine
- 28:19Speaker 4: a bite. I mean, did she have to get Raby shots?
- 28:26Speaker 2: I believe she that's a good question that you think
- 28:30Speaker 2: i'd know.
- 28:30Speaker 4: Huh here, I would have if like the cat, if
- 28:34Speaker 4: we didn't know where the cat was and we didn't
- 28:36Speaker 4: know what cat bit me, I would have had to
- 28:37Speaker 4: get Raby shots.
- 28:39Speaker 2: Raby shot. Actually, I can actually pull up the video
- 28:42Speaker 2: of her actually getting bit real fast.
- 28:45Speaker 4: Oh can you.
- 28:47Speaker 2: Yeah, I can give me one second. So there we go.
- 29:03Speaker 4: You guys are pointing at something and I don't know
- 29:05Speaker 4: what you're singing.
- 29:13Speaker 2: There it was.
- 29:14Speaker 4: There's a fucking flying down on my leg right now.
- 29:17Speaker 3: Someone help me.
- 29:22Speaker 2: Wow, don't move.
- 29:32Speaker 4: Oh my god, it's literally on her leg and she's
- 29:38Speaker 4: not screaming like a girl.
- 29:40Speaker 2: Yes, jeez, it's rock and roll. He's gonna be your friend.
- 29:51Speaker 2: And she finished the show. Look, look there's a picture
- 29:53Speaker 2: of the bat.
- 29:55Speaker 4: Oh my god, it's because she was wearing a nightcl.
- 30:01Speaker 2: I mean, wi is she not more than when I
- 30:03Speaker 2: saw like a girl?
- 30:06Speaker 4: Because I would have been like.
- 30:09Speaker 2: Right, right, Okay. So I'm going to I'm gonna skip
- 30:16Speaker 2: one of these that Angie brought, but I already gave
- 30:19Speaker 2: her a prop for one. I'll do another one that
- 30:20Speaker 2: she brought, and then I'll do the one Bells brought.
- 30:22Speaker 2: So a thirty one year old woman in Michigan is
- 30:28Speaker 2: facing multiple felonies after she allegedly set her ex boyfriend's
- 30:31Speaker 2: home on fire last week, which ended up killing his
- 30:33Speaker 2: mother and injuring his uncle and the uncle's fiance. The
- 30:37Speaker 2: ex boyfriend was not in the residence at the time
- 30:39Speaker 2: of the fire. She was. So here's the thing. She
- 30:42Speaker 2: did this. She poured an accelerant on the front porch
- 30:45Speaker 2: of the victims home, and then she set it on
- 30:48Speaker 2: fire and fled the scene. They were looking for her,
- 30:53Speaker 2: So where did she go? Let's see here. She apparently
- 30:59Speaker 2: wanted to make her ex boy friend feel her pain,
- 31:01Speaker 2: which she was able to do apparently in that way.
- 31:06Speaker 2: But then yeah, she used oh god, guys, gas math
- 31:11Speaker 2: gas math used seventy five cents worth of gas to
- 31:16Speaker 2: dowse a couch on the porch and then lit it
- 31:18Speaker 2: on fire. She retreated to her car, sent a text
- 31:22Speaker 2: message to her ex boyfriend that read your house is
- 31:25Speaker 2: on fire. Gas. Yeah. But then she went to so
- 31:38Speaker 2: then so she torched the exes home. She killed her ex,
- 31:43Speaker 2: her ex's mom, and then she went to McDonald's and
- 31:45Speaker 2: purchased cocaine. So all on a Friday night, right donald
- 31:51Speaker 2: Apparently it's a new thing. It's it's part of the
- 31:53Speaker 2: secret list. It's part of the secret menu that you
- 31:57Speaker 2: really have to just be like. And that's it. M
- 32:00Speaker 2: h we listen, we we all hold on. Where was
- 32:05Speaker 2: it that? Where did it go? It all moved there?
- 32:09Speaker 2: It is okay, yes, we we all do.
- 32:13Speaker 4: We all noticed I pulled out my calculator.
- 32:22Speaker 2: Mc cooke.
- 32:25Speaker 4: Oh my gosh, So come on down to McDonald's and
- 32:28Speaker 4: get your mc coke.
- 32:30Speaker 2: Maybe that's why the coke is so good? There is
- 32:32Speaker 2: it's literally still got cocaine in it like it used to.
- 32:35Speaker 4: Maybe that's why I thought it was just a special mixture.
- 32:40Speaker 4: He had a little.
- 32:45Speaker 2: That's a slizz souh oh. Yeah, So there's that one.
- 32:51Speaker 2: Uh do you have another one? I do put my.
- 32:56Speaker 4: My story or not a story but an announcement, and
- 33:00Speaker 4: it fell flat with you. But maybe this group will
- 33:03Speaker 4: love me. Nicole Kidman confirms she and Sandra Bullock will
- 33:09Speaker 4: star in the Practical Magic sequel. I'm excited. I can't
- 33:18Speaker 4: believe you've never seen Practical Magic.
- 33:23Speaker 2: Uh wait, what is happening?
- 33:25Speaker 4: Hey? Miss is excited about it?
- 33:27Speaker 2: Yes, well see, there you go.
- 33:32Speaker 4: We ca. I mean, how could you not. I'm taking
- 33:36Speaker 4: away your girl card.
- 33:38Speaker 2: I'm sorry, I don't know what the hell you We
- 33:42Speaker 2: will watch.
- 33:44Speaker 4: We will watch it in Denver. We will watch it
- 33:48Speaker 4: in Denver.
- 33:53Speaker 2: That was my exciting. That's what we'll do. We'll do
- 33:56Speaker 2: a watch party and discord and we'll all watch it together. Yes,
- 34:04Speaker 2: you streamed it at Halloween, of course you did. I
- 34:06Speaker 2: didn't scroll up. Actually, I think that's around the time
- 34:09Speaker 2: where I went rogue for a little while and I
- 34:11Speaker 2: ghosted for it.
- 34:12Speaker 4: So okay, I need someone to explain this one to me.
- 34:21Speaker 2: Which one.
- 34:23Speaker 3: Ron?
- 34:24Speaker 4: What's pornography?
- 34:26Speaker 2: They're gonna have to tell you when you're older.
- 34:28Speaker 4: I guess, okay, tell me when I'm older.
- 34:33Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 34:34Speaker 5: You know.
- 34:35Speaker 4: My birthday is a couple of days after the event
- 34:39Speaker 4: in Denver.
- 34:41Speaker 2: Perfect and it's Mike Celebrate early. Oh that's right, Yes,
- 34:46Speaker 2: it's gonna be big. It's not mine, so yay, okay.
- 34:51Speaker 2: Captain was talking about this video apparently where Taylor mumpson.
- 34:55Speaker 2: Uh does Papaazzi parkour? If it loads, and hopefully it does,
- 35:03Speaker 2: maybe we'll see who knows?
- 35:06Speaker 4: Thinking thinking.
- 35:11Speaker 2: It played for me two seconds ago, not appreciating this YouTube,
- 35:23Speaker 2: I'm sorry.
- 35:29Speaker 4: She did. Wow, whoa, she's athletic.
- 35:41Speaker 2: First off, that's not real. This is real. There's no way, captain,
- 35:50Speaker 2: tell me that's not I mean, I guess maybe it
- 35:52Speaker 2: works since she got bit by a.
- 35:53Speaker 4: Back so no way. She jumped from the car up
- 35:58Speaker 4: there like that. That had to have been staged.
- 36:03Speaker 2: Yeah, now I understand the Spider Man reference. Uh for
- 36:06Speaker 2: door whoa? All right, here is my last my last
- 36:14Speaker 2: piece and it is from it is it's from the
- 36:18Speaker 2: Austin American Statesman. Would that be Austin, Texas where I live?
- 36:23Speaker 2: All right? So there was a thirty seven year old
- 36:26Speaker 2: man who was arrested last week after determining that he
- 36:29Speaker 2: was driving a stolen vehicle in South Austin. However, he
- 36:35Speaker 2: has quite the name. Either he changed in himself or
- 36:39Speaker 2: his parents were really into cartoons. And all I have
- 36:46Speaker 2: to say is autobots roll out. No, okay for the nerds, Uh, Optimum,
- 36:55Speaker 2: Optimum Prime, you're yes that you might as right? His
- 37:01Speaker 2: name is Optimus Prime Blakely.
- 37:06Speaker 4: That's pretty awesome.
- 37:09Speaker 2: He was identified as driving south on South north on
- 37:12Speaker 2: South Congress Avenue and a white Mercedes that had been
- 37:15Speaker 2: reported stolen the previous day. They saw him arriving at
- 37:18Speaker 2: a game room in the three hundred block of Rodham
- 37:21Speaker 2: Lane that was known as a hub for criminal activity
- 37:23Speaker 2: and as a location where stolen vehicles have been recovered.
- 37:26Speaker 2: He said that he discovered the car while it was
- 37:28Speaker 2: unattended and running at a Dollar General and proceeded to
- 37:32Speaker 2: enter the vehicle and drove away. But the whole joke
- 37:35Speaker 2: is that his name's optimis Prime Blakely, And I really
- 37:38Speaker 2: wish I had that.
- 37:42Speaker 4: I am so proud of myself for knowing that, or
- 37:44Speaker 4: close to knowing that it was good.
- 37:47Speaker 2: I am optimist. Problem I really wish I had that
- 37:50Speaker 2: dude's voice. That would be awesome.
- 37:52Speaker 4: Could you imagine though, the first day of first grade? So,
- 37:58Speaker 4: what is your name? Stand up to us? Your name? Hi,
- 38:01Speaker 4: my name is Optimus Prime Blakely.
- 38:04Speaker 2: I went, I wonder, I wonder if he went by
- 38:06Speaker 2: the initials OPE and asked if everybody was down with OP?
- 38:09Speaker 2: Are you done with?
- 38:11Speaker 4: All?
- 38:12Speaker 2: Right?
- 38:12Speaker 4: But OP is Ocean Pacific?
- 38:16Speaker 2: I mean.
- 38:19Speaker 4: No, no Transformers, Transformers. I know who Bumblebee is?
- 38:30Speaker 2: Well, yeah, is that is that Transformers? Yeah, you're correct.
- 38:36Speaker 2: I'm not a huge Transformers guy. I love the voice acting,
- 38:40Speaker 2: but I'm not a I'm not a huge I was
- 38:42Speaker 2: never a huge Transformers dude. So yeah, anyways, all right,
- 38:49Speaker 2: do you want to move into the next DEGMENTO?
- 38:55Speaker 4: Yes, are we doing the chase update?
- 38:58Speaker 2: Here we go.
- 39:19Speaker 4: So, guys, this I think is going to be exciting news.
- 39:24Speaker 4: I find it exciting. Harris County has a sign chases
- 39:31Speaker 4: case to a cold case detective. Her name is Detective
- 39:36Speaker 4: Sophia and she responded to my email within two hours,
- 39:43Speaker 4: which to me is a good sign. Right now. The
- 39:47Speaker 4: next thing is she said she wouldn't talk to me,
- 39:49Speaker 4: but she would talk to the family. But the family's
- 39:54Speaker 4: letting her know that she needs to talk to me.
- 39:58Speaker 2: Right and one more step in the middle of it,
- 40:03Speaker 2: there's no point.
- 40:05Speaker 4: And the other great news, I am going to be
- 40:09Speaker 4: in California next month. I am going to be meeting
- 40:14Speaker 4: with one of the investigators face to face and we
- 40:17Speaker 4: are going to do some boots on the ground investigation
- 40:24Speaker 4: for the Chase Lackey case. But I am not going
- 40:27Speaker 4: to Humboldt County. After just watching one episode of Murder Mountain,
- 40:34Speaker 4: I will go check out California, but I've decided I
- 40:37Speaker 4: don't want to go to that mountain, even though.
- 40:39Speaker 2: I'm gonna take.
- 40:43Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean it's beautiful it. I mean if it
- 40:48Speaker 4: didn't have murders, just the little stream the creek and
- 40:52Speaker 4: people ritually moved there because they wanted to live the
- 40:56Speaker 4: hippie lifestyle.
- 41:00Speaker 2: Yeah, well hippyippy Uh oh isy? So are you isy?
- 41:07Speaker 2: Go ahead?
- 41:09Speaker 4: No?
- 41:09Speaker 2: You go ahead?
- 41:11Speaker 4: Okay?
- 41:13Speaker 5: No.
- 41:13Speaker 2: Well I was gonna say, is if you if you
- 41:15Speaker 2: go to if you go to the playlist for Chase
- 41:17Speaker 2: Lackey on our channel, you'll catch catch you can catch up.
- 41:21Speaker 2: You probably want to start at the beginning to hear
- 41:23Speaker 2: about it, and then any update from there and because
- 41:26Speaker 2: we well, mostly Terry, let's be honest, ninety point nine
- 41:33Speaker 2: husband Terry doing all the hard work podcast Viatary it
- 41:40Speaker 2: has been has been investigating this.
- 41:43Speaker 4: Thank you for saying that. But remember we do have
- 41:44Speaker 4: investigators who are putting in their time, well plus my
- 41:48Speaker 4: couple of people in the Philippines that are doing a
- 41:51Speaker 4: lot of the online research and doing all of that.
- 41:55Speaker 4: So I wish I could take ninety nine point nine
- 41:59Speaker 4: of the credit, but I can't.
- 42:03Speaker 2: I believe that props should be given when props are due,
- 42:10Speaker 2: and Okay, you found the investigators and everybody else see
- 42:18Speaker 2: see uh so props just take them, take them, damn it.
- 42:24Speaker 4: I will take them. And you weren't on the midday yesterday.
- 42:29Speaker 4: But there is a lot of similarities between another missing
- 42:33Speaker 4: person case, Ian Wilcoxon and Chase and Ian knew each other.
- 42:39Speaker 4: There was contact between the two of them. So now
- 42:43Speaker 4: the investigators on my side are looking to see if
- 42:46Speaker 4: Ian is connected to Addison and Matt in any way.
- 42:52Speaker 2: If the thoughts of the food I'm trying to find
- 42:57Speaker 2: a good way to say this, if the thoughts of
- 42:59Speaker 2: the chain are correct, it would not surprise me. Yeah,
- 43:06Speaker 2: so this is gonna be it's getting spicy. It was
- 43:11Speaker 2: already spicy. It's getting like that hot sauce that I
- 43:14Speaker 2: should be taking a taste of soon spicy.
- 43:17Speaker 4: So yes, Belle just asks, is he from Crosby? Ian
- 43:22Speaker 4: is from Conroe? If you know the Houston area, I
- 43:27Speaker 4: call Conroe, Crosby, Baytown, Channel View. It's all Houston. I mean,
- 43:31Speaker 4: it's the Houston metroplex. But Ian was from Conroe, graduated
- 43:35Speaker 4: from Conroe High School. But he and Chase didn't know
- 43:40Speaker 4: each other. I don't know if they met because they
- 43:42Speaker 4: both started working for potfarms, or if they met in
- 43:46Speaker 4: the club scene. And what's interesting, if you look at them,
- 43:51Speaker 4: they look very similar, and I mean they're both attractive,
- 43:56Speaker 4: good looking, young white American guys. They both lost their
- 44:01Speaker 4: jobs and went to work on pop farms and within
- 44:04Speaker 4: seven months went missing, both of them. So it just
- 44:16Speaker 4: sometimes there's just too much to be called a coincidenceal
- 44:21Speaker 4: you know, it can't be. It can't be a quink ink?
- 44:27Speaker 3: Is he?
- 44:27Speaker 2: He been tagged in the courtyard were chases and foes,
- 44:31Speaker 2: so there's stuff in there. Eventually, I look forward to
- 44:36Speaker 2: being able to at some point in the who knows,
- 44:40Speaker 2: distant future, publish that binder.
- 44:44Speaker 4: That you have. So I am slowly scanning at all
- 44:51Speaker 4: to have it electronically with all my notes and stuff.
- 44:55Speaker 4: And I even started using one note to type all
- 44:59Speaker 4: of my note instead of writing them on paper. So
- 45:03Speaker 4: that way, for some reason I get hit by a
- 45:05Speaker 4: bus or if something happens, the investigators could pick it
- 45:09Speaker 4: up with you and keep going after you know, h
- 45:14Speaker 4: offs me and hides my body.
- 45:18Speaker 2: See, I would be the reason why that cold case
- 45:20Speaker 2: investigator would be like, no, I'm going to talk to
- 45:22Speaker 2: the family. I'm trying.
- 45:33Speaker 3: No.
- 45:33Speaker 4: Another interesting and doesn't have to do with Chase. But
- 45:36Speaker 4: another interesting thing is I am talking with the brother
- 45:41Speaker 4: of a missing person tomorrow and he is we're going
- 45:46Speaker 4: to work out when he's going to come on live
- 45:48Speaker 4: for Midday Missing, so we will have our first live guest.
- 45:54Speaker 4: And he's even written a book. He's even written a
- 45:57Speaker 4: book about it, so.
- 46:01Speaker 2: Awesome. We we have a couple of a couple of
- 46:05Speaker 2: things in the fire with books, and.
- 46:08Speaker 4: We do. But this one just happened. I got reached
- 46:13Speaker 4: out to somebody told me to reach out to the guy.
- 46:15Speaker 4: They said it might take him weeks to get back
- 46:17Speaker 4: to me. He got back to me within less than
- 46:20Speaker 4: four hours, and he was like, I can talk now.
- 46:24Speaker 4: I was like, okay, well I can't. How about fraud?
- 46:28Speaker 4: So we're going to talk on Friday and put him
- 46:31Speaker 4: on midday next week.
- 46:34Speaker 2: What was the what was the other one? Oh, we
- 46:39Speaker 2: have a couple. I don't know.
- 46:43Speaker 4: I don't know if we should since we haven't firmed
- 46:45Speaker 4: anything up. That's not but hopefully we're going to firm
- 46:50Speaker 4: those up. But we are looking at doing some other guests,
- 46:55Speaker 4: but those are not true stories. I don't think one
- 47:01Speaker 4: of them is. One is and.
- 47:05Speaker 2: One of them was recently done in a documentary and
- 47:07Speaker 2: on a streaming site that I watched and then you
- 47:10Speaker 2: I had watched. I remember because I watched it and
- 47:12Speaker 2: then you emailed me about it and I was like, so, anyways,
- 47:20Speaker 2: good things are coming. Great things are coming, y'all.
- 47:24Speaker 4: And just think when we hit a thousand, JT's going
- 47:27Speaker 4: to give us a makeup.
- 47:28Speaker 2: Tutorial, makeup tutorial and what not to do to your
- 47:33Speaker 2: stomach lining it's gonna be great.
- 47:36Speaker 4: Well, what I love about it is all I have
- 47:38Speaker 4: to do is just sit there and laugh or do
- 47:41Speaker 4: I mean? I got the easy end of the stick.
- 47:46Speaker 2: I've got like hydrating jelliness, and I've got my nail
- 47:52Speaker 2: polish and I've got a hammer. I think that will help.
- 47:59Speaker 2: That's how you fix.
- 48:01Speaker 4: No.
- 48:02Speaker 2: Okay, okay, I've got eyelighter. Oh maybe, Leane, what was
- 48:10Speaker 2: I thinking? Liquid eyelighter?
- 48:14Speaker 4: Maybe I should bring some extra makeup to Denver.
- 48:19Speaker 2: Yeah, that's fine. This is called getting serious because once
- 48:23Speaker 2: you hit a thousand, it's getting serious.
- 48:26Speaker 4: It's getting serious.
- 48:29Speaker 2: I'm sure something I can rate.
- 48:34Speaker 4: And then, also, like you and I talked about, I'm
- 48:36Speaker 4: going to start trying to do some shorts with amber
- 48:39Speaker 4: alerts that come out.
- 48:42Speaker 2: And I am going to try and do more of them.
- 48:45Speaker 2: I'm thinking of doing one that's not true crime. But
- 48:47Speaker 2: that's kind of like morning jams where I just talked
- 48:52Speaker 2: about a song that just kicked it up a notch
- 48:54Speaker 2: in the morning. It's not true crime, I know, but
- 48:56Speaker 2: some people like to hear something different now and again.
- 48:58Speaker 4: So absolutely, we can't do true crime all the time.
- 49:06Speaker 2: Is he on the case?
- 49:09Speaker 4: I love it.
- 49:11Speaker 2: That's awesome.
- 49:13Speaker 4: Now because of your shirt, you didn't cover this, but
- 49:17Speaker 4: did you hear about the girl who graduated and she
- 49:22Speaker 4: handed the superintendent or whoever is given out the diplomas.
- 49:26Speaker 4: She didn't take it, but handed them a book that
- 49:28Speaker 4: they had banned. So your shirt kind of fits right
- 49:34Speaker 4: into that.
- 49:35Speaker 2: That's awesome. Did you hear about the gal whose father
- 49:39Speaker 2: hopped up on stage and walked like the principle or
- 49:42Speaker 2: superintendent away from handshaking with her daughter with his daughter
- 49:46Speaker 2: because he was black?
- 49:51Speaker 4: No, I did not hear that.
- 49:55Speaker 2: I'll send you the article. I lost a little faith
- 49:57Speaker 2: in the humanity. It's a good thing that we stream
- 49:59Speaker 2: and have a great community because that's where I get
- 50:02Speaker 2: my human that's where I get my hope for humanity back.
- 50:05Speaker 2: But which is really sad, y'all. It's really sad when
- 50:08Speaker 2: you get your hope for humanity back on YouTube. But
- 50:10Speaker 2: that just speaks volumes to our community.
- 50:12Speaker 3: So it does.
- 50:15Speaker 2: Wow. Well, should we move into our cases tonight?
- 50:22Speaker 3: We should?
- 50:24Speaker 2: Do you want to go or do you want me
- 50:26Speaker 2: to go?
- 50:29Speaker 4: I can go because I am shocked at how many
- 50:33Speaker 4: people do not know this story. And I have to
- 50:37Speaker 4: say if elections, if this was to happen in today's time,
- 50:42Speaker 4: it would be all over the place.
- 50:46Speaker 2: Probably probably all right, Can I just put like, I
- 50:52Speaker 2: don't know, are you going to have like a little
- 50:54Speaker 2: disclaimer in the beginning, or can I put a disclaimer please? Okay,
- 51:01Speaker 2: keep listen the person that Terry's talking about, it's in
- 51:05Speaker 2: the political sphere, key political beliefs. Out of the chat.
- 51:08Speaker 2: You can talk about the crimeme, you can talk about
- 51:12Speaker 2: what's happening in the cases Terry reads it, but keep
- 51:15Speaker 2: everything else away. Okay, I think we can separate the two.
- 51:20Speaker 2: I don't think this has to become a debate stage
- 51:23Speaker 2: because if nobody else is willing to debate, then we're
- 51:26Speaker 2: not going to do that side. So all right, moving on,
- 51:30Speaker 2: and you can.
- 51:32Speaker 4: Talk about the fact that I want to see this
- 51:36Speaker 4: person's husband in a Wranglers at a hat. I mean,
- 51:39Speaker 4: he's get a little bit older now, so maybe not now,
- 51:42Speaker 4: but back in the day I wanted to.
- 51:45Speaker 2: I like what Amos said. I think that's good true crime,
- 51:48Speaker 2: not wine with the h.
- 51:53Speaker 4: So I'm trying to figure out what's going on and
- 51:56Speaker 4: why my computer screen is frozen and I can't move
- 52:02Speaker 4: my document over just split on my screen, so I'm
- 52:04Speaker 4: gonna have to not look at the camera a little bit.
- 52:07Speaker 4: So in case you don't know who we're talking about,
- 52:11Speaker 4: we are you know what we did not do before
- 52:14Speaker 4: we start, we have to say what we're drinking.
- 52:17Speaker 2: That's right, you go. I'll go in the case as
- 52:21Speaker 2: it is.
- 52:23Speaker 4: I am drinking some Saint super Rose, and I will
- 52:29Speaker 4: tell you I mean I love Saint Supri. This does
- 52:32Speaker 4: a little too easy drinking. I could drink a couple
- 52:36Speaker 4: of bottles of this that easy out by the pool.
- 52:38Speaker 4: It's nice, it's refreshing, it's cool, it's it's a very
- 52:43Speaker 4: good rose. But it's a little simple to drink. When
- 52:47Speaker 4: I say that it goes down too easy, I'd have
- 52:50Speaker 4: to put my glasses on to read the alcohol content.
- 52:55Speaker 2: Is it easy like a Sunday morning or easy like
- 52:58Speaker 2: a JT in college?
- 53:02Speaker 4: Like a JT in college? Oh boy, it's really easy.
- 53:09Speaker 3: It is.
- 53:10Speaker 4: It's it's smooth, it's smooth, it's crisp. It's refreshing.
- 53:18Speaker 2: Oh oh perfect.
- 53:21Speaker 4: So I don't know if you were refreshing back in college.
- 53:24Speaker 2: But you'd have to ask anybody else. I refuse to
- 53:32Speaker 2: answer that question. I don't think that highly of myself.
- 53:39Speaker 4: And what are you drinking?
- 53:43Speaker 2: Uh? Is he drinking Dutch? Dutch brothers Dutch bros? Uh
- 53:49Speaker 2: alignment nede that whatever it is, it sounds good for real.
- 53:56Speaker 4: Mango Nada lemon eight.
- 54:02Speaker 2: It sounds fantastic whatever it is, and I love it.
- 54:08Speaker 2: That's the um me too, Ice ice cold. I found
- 54:14Speaker 2: a five dollars cash back on a twelve package, so
- 54:17Speaker 2: I got them. But also it's I like Sierra Nevada,
- 54:20Speaker 2: but it's dope, sexy white Claw. I have a story
- 54:24Speaker 2: about white Claw. I have never I'm not gonna draw
- 54:32Speaker 2: the ire of the folks that are watching. I'm drinking
- 54:34Speaker 2: a Sierra Nevada. I had a. I had a dank
- 54:37Speaker 2: little thing I p A, which was fairly dank, and
- 54:40Speaker 2: now we've moved on to a juicy little thing I
- 54:43Speaker 2: p A. They don't really describe what they are other
- 54:48Speaker 2: than by those specific words.
- 54:51Speaker 4: So you're on your second beer already.
- 54:55Speaker 2: I am, yes, okay, I very easy to drink.
- 55:01Speaker 4: I haven't.
- 55:03Speaker 2: I'm trying to remember. There have been everywhere like three
- 55:06Speaker 2: hours away through I finished the bottle of wine.
- 55:09Speaker 4: Oh I remember, I'm trying to be responsible. Time, trying
- 55:14Speaker 4: to be responsible.
- 55:17Speaker 2: Anyways, Uh remember later, But moving on, okay.
- 55:24Speaker 4: Laura Lane welch and I have to tell y'all, I
- 55:28Speaker 4: love that name, Laura Lane.
- 55:32Speaker 2: I want to spreader on a bagel Oh my.
- 55:41Speaker 4: She was born November fourth, nineteen forty six, in Midland, Texas.
- 55:48Speaker 2: I was talking about breakfast food. Did that mean something
- 55:50Speaker 2: more than I thought it did, because that's all I
- 55:53Speaker 2: meant it as was just what I said.
- 55:56Speaker 4: You just said you wanted to spread the former first
- 55:59Speaker 4: Lady onto something to eat.
- 56:03Speaker 2: Her last name is Welch.
- 56:07Speaker 4: Oh, Welch's okay, a little slow over here, that was
- 56:16Speaker 4: my visual. Well, yeah, no, we're just keep.
- 56:23Speaker 2: Going, let's keep moving.
- 56:27Speaker 4: Hold on. So and this is a little sad fact.
- 56:34Speaker 4: She's the only living child of Harold and Jenna Welch.
- 56:38Speaker 4: They lost several babies. So if you read she has
- 56:43Speaker 4: a book out, Laurid does and her parents really went
- 56:47Speaker 4: through it. So but her father was a successful real
- 56:50Speaker 4: estate developer, and her mom worked with her father in
- 56:54Speaker 4: the business. Because you know why, behind every great man
- 56:58Speaker 4: is a woman. Anyway, Laura Welch.
- 57:05Speaker 2: That's true.
- 57:07Speaker 4: George W. Bush, who looks good in a pair of
- 57:12Speaker 4: wranglers in nineteen seventy seven and later became the First
- 57:17Speaker 4: Lady of the United States. So, now, Laura grew up
- 57:23Speaker 4: in Midland, Texas. If you don't know about Midland, Texas,
- 57:27Speaker 4: it is central West Texas. It is dry, windy, dirty,
- 57:34Speaker 4: and a lot of oil stuff.
- 57:37Speaker 2: It'd be really odd if Midland was in the northeast.
- 57:41Speaker 4: True.
- 57:43Speaker 2: True, But.
- 57:46Speaker 4: A lot of people say Midland, Odessa, Permian basin. Let
- 57:51Speaker 4: me tell you, because Texas is a big football place.
- 57:54Speaker 4: They have that is where Friday night lights should be.
- 58:00Speaker 4: They are hardcore football. It's all about football and oil.
- 58:05Speaker 2: The first picture that comes up of Midland when I
- 58:07Speaker 2: search it, I feel like I could be one hundred
- 58:09Speaker 2: feet up, look straight across Midland and see California because
- 58:14Speaker 2: it's that.
- 58:15Speaker 4: Absolutely. It is flat. It is flat. It is flatchest Okay, never,
- 58:21Speaker 4: I'm not gonna make that joke. We're gonna move on. Okay,
- 58:27Speaker 4: I'm going to say it. It's flat like a flat
- 58:30Speaker 4: chested president of the itty bitty Titty Committee. So growing up,
- 58:37Speaker 4: when we used to say Texas was flat, my grandmother
- 58:41Speaker 4: would say, yep, like the itty bitty titty Committee president.
- 58:46Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, soap.
- 58:50Speaker 4: But anyway, here's something shocking. Like most kids her age,
- 58:56Speaker 4: Laura got her driver's license when she was forty years old.
- 59:04Speaker 4: I'm like, I was like, what at the holy hell fourteen?
- 59:08Speaker 4: That was not a hardship license. It wasn't a compassion thing.
- 59:12Speaker 4: It's when they got driver's license fourteen.
- 59:17Speaker 2: Where so in in Virginia you had your fifteen years
- 59:24Speaker 2: fifteen and a half to get your learners permit.
- 59:27Speaker 4: Well that's now, but this was back in. I mean
- 59:30Speaker 4: she was forty, but I mean fourteen is way too young.
- 59:35Speaker 4: I didn't let my boys get their license until they're eighteen.
- 59:39Speaker 4: I mean, a car at that age is like having
- 59:44Speaker 4: a gun. It is a lethal weapon.
- 59:50Speaker 2: Honestly, at this point, having a car at my age
- 59:53Speaker 2: is like having a gun.
- 59:55Speaker 4: Oh now, so when Laura turned seventeen, her life changed forever.
- 1:00:05Speaker 4: And no, she was not married to George w when
- 1:00:07Speaker 4: she was seventeen, so that was not what changed her life.
- 1:00:11Speaker 4: Of So in her book she writes, and just so
- 1:00:17Speaker 4: people know, you can race it here. I love to
- 1:00:20Speaker 4: read autobiographies on people. I just finished Culture Club Boy George.
- 1:00:26Speaker 4: It's really good. But I also like to read presidents
- 1:00:29Speaker 4: their wives. But I like to just read random autobiographies. Anyway.
- 1:00:33Speaker 4: She wrote the book saying that girls didn't drink a
- 1:00:36Speaker 4: lot when she was grown up in high school, but
- 1:00:38Speaker 4: they all smoked because smoking was a thing back then.
- 1:00:43Speaker 4: So she had just turned seventeen, and like a typical
- 1:00:49Speaker 4: Texas girl, she went grabbed the car keys in her purse,
- 1:00:53Speaker 4: headed off to pick up her friend and was headed
- 1:00:55Speaker 4: to the drive in movies. I hate that this is
- 1:00:59Speaker 4: over there, but I can't fix it. So they were
- 1:01:02Speaker 4: heading to the drive in, and we all know what
- 1:01:04Speaker 4: girls do when you get in the car, right, or
- 1:01:06Speaker 4: when you put two girls together, you know, chatty chatty, chatty,
- 1:01:10Speaker 4: chatty chatty, and you just lose all concept of what
- 1:01:14Speaker 4: you're doing. They were on a dark road, they were
- 1:01:18Speaker 4: heading chatting it up, and all of a sudden, Laura's
- 1:01:22Speaker 4: friend goes, hey, there's a stop sign right as Laura
- 1:01:26Speaker 4: sees it, and she was already heading into the intersection,
- 1:01:30Speaker 4: so she kept going. Well, at the same time, she
- 1:01:35Speaker 4: realized it was too late for her to stop the car,
- 1:01:38Speaker 4: and the next thing she knew, she was in the
- 1:01:41Speaker 4: intersection and there was another car. Then, she said, the
- 1:01:45Speaker 4: next thing she remembers was rolling on the ground, grabbing
- 1:01:48Speaker 4: her head because she had been thrown from the car.
- 1:01:52Speaker 4: Oh no, so, I mean, think about how fast accidents happened.
- 1:02:00Speaker 4: Right now, there was a family that pulled over, was
- 1:02:07Speaker 4: consoling the girls and then there was another guy who
- 1:02:10Speaker 4: got out of the car and came up and was
- 1:02:12Speaker 4: talking to people. Ambulances, flashing lights. All of that stuff happened, right,
- 1:02:18Speaker 4: And Midland's a pretty small town back then, right, But
- 1:02:24Speaker 4: they showed up. Laura's friend said, Hey, I think that
- 1:02:28Speaker 4: man over there is the father of the driver of
- 1:02:32Speaker 4: the other car, and Laura said, no, that can't be
- 1:02:38Speaker 4: because that's mister Douglas, Mike's dad. Mike was a really
- 1:02:43Speaker 4: good friend of Laura's. They spent hours chatting on the phone.
- 1:02:47Speaker 4: You know. There was rumors that they were a boyfriend
- 1:02:49Speaker 4: and girlfriend, but they weren't. But Laura and her friend
- 1:02:54Speaker 4: were taken to the hospital. They were stitched up, put
- 1:02:57Speaker 4: back together. She had a broken ankle, and then she
- 1:03:02Speaker 4: went home. Some friends came over and her parents let
- 1:03:04Speaker 4: her know Mike was the driver of the other car.
- 1:03:09Speaker 4: She had killed her best guy friend. No, because remember
- 1:03:17Speaker 4: we didn't have seat out laws back then. If they
- 1:03:20Speaker 4: were wearing a seatbelts, no, he would have probably lived. Yeah,
- 1:03:27Speaker 4: I mean they were like good friends. I mean some
- 1:03:32Speaker 4: even said that they were like she killed her lover
- 1:03:36Speaker 4: all of that stuff, but they were just good friends. Now,
- 1:03:39Speaker 4: the interesting thing is her parents knew. His parents went
- 1:03:43Speaker 4: over there the next day. Nothing has been released about
- 1:03:46Speaker 4: what was said. Her parents kept her from going. They
- 1:03:52Speaker 4: didn't think that she should go and talk to his parents, okay,
- 1:03:57Speaker 4: and she kind of thought that they wouldn't want to
- 1:04:01Speaker 4: see her, you know, she thought that she would remind
- 1:04:05Speaker 4: them of the worst day of their life. Even when
- 1:04:09Speaker 4: he was buried, her parents didn't want her to go
- 1:04:14Speaker 4: to the funeral, and so she didn't go.
- 1:04:17Speaker 2: Oh Man, And no charges.
- 1:04:20Speaker 4: Were filed against Laura or Mike, which it was very common.
- 1:04:27Speaker 4: There was no drugs involved, there was no drinking, no
- 1:04:31Speaker 4: excessive speeds, no reckless driving. It was a dark road
- 1:04:36Speaker 4: without lights, and it was an accident. And the thing
- 1:04:44Speaker 4: is that until George w ran for president in two thousand.
- 1:04:48Speaker 4: You got to remember, he was our governor of Texas.
- 1:04:50Speaker 4: First it didn't come out. Then it wasn't until he
- 1:04:54Speaker 4: ran for president when the press ran a story about
- 1:04:58Speaker 4: the crash. And that's when it became a big deal.
- 1:05:04Speaker 4: I mean, even a couple of George W's cousins were like,
- 1:05:08Speaker 4: what are you talking about? We did not know about this.
- 1:05:13Speaker 4: She hadn't even told her daughter.
- 1:05:16Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, it's one of those things that happened
- 1:05:18Speaker 2: so early that it's It's number one, it takes time
- 1:05:21Speaker 2: to heal from everything. And two, it's not something you
- 1:05:25Speaker 2: just volunteer, you know, to you know your husband's relation,
- 1:05:32Speaker 2: you know, like family, so you don't.
- 1:05:34Speaker 4: I mean, I guess his cousin's thought, because he had
- 1:05:38Speaker 4: already been governor, that that should have all come out,
- 1:05:42Speaker 4: but it didn't. You know, now a criminal history, Oh well, no,
- 1:05:52Speaker 4: gotta remember George W. Bush was the first governor and
- 1:05:57Speaker 4: verse president to have a record because he had a DWI.
- 1:06:01Speaker 4: But he didn't kill anybody.
- 1:06:04Speaker 2: He heard that w and he's like, hey, that's mine,
- 1:06:06Speaker 2: I gotta have it.
- 1:06:10Speaker 4: Hey, what can I say? But Laura has said multiple
- 1:06:14Speaker 4: times since this came out and in her book, how
- 1:06:17Speaker 4: guilty she feels now that she's an adult and she
- 1:06:21Speaker 4: has kids, that she wished she would have gone and
- 1:06:24Speaker 4: talked to his parents. But I mean she was seventeen, guys.
- 1:06:32Speaker 4: I mean she was driving down a dark road, chatting
- 1:06:35Speaker 4: with a girlfriend, wasn't speeding, there was no light on
- 1:06:40Speaker 4: the stop sign, headlights hit it. I mean I have
- 1:06:45Speaker 4: I've run stop signs on dark country roads before. I mean,
- 1:06:51Speaker 4: thank god I didn't hit anymar.
- 1:06:55Speaker 2: Lights.
- 1:06:56Speaker 4: Well, now the town has grown, but I mean, there
- 1:06:58Speaker 4: was nothing salacious about it, right, it was an accident. Now, guys,
- 1:07:05Speaker 4: this is heartbreaking. Mike's dad was driving behind him and
- 1:07:13Speaker 4: saw the whole crash. He was the one who got
- 1:07:16Speaker 4: out of the car and came over. He was following
- 1:07:20Speaker 4: his son and he saw a sudden be thrown from
- 1:07:24Speaker 4: the car. So normally I give you the cases that
- 1:07:36Speaker 4: are just brutal murder and stuff, but this isn't. This
- 1:07:39Speaker 4: one's just heartbreaking. I mean, as a parent, I can't
- 1:07:45Speaker 4: so when I read her book a couple of years ago,
- 1:07:48Speaker 4: I bawled at this point because the thought of that,
- 1:07:54Speaker 4: not only do you lose your child, and it reminds
- 1:07:56Speaker 4: people wear your seat belt. We were crazy. I went
- 1:08:00Speaker 4: through a windshield in high school. I don't know how
- 1:08:02Speaker 4: I'm alive. We didn't wear seatbelts and I was sitting
- 1:08:05Speaker 4: in a friend's lap. I mean, so I can't imagine that. Now.
- 1:08:13Speaker 4: Also found out that a sobriety test was not done
- 1:08:17Speaker 4: because it was very rare back then. But however, dear
- 1:08:21Speaker 4: an election season, people aka the press started to try
- 1:08:26Speaker 4: and imply that because Laura was raised around alcohol, that
- 1:08:31Speaker 4: she must have been drinking because her parents were luscious
- 1:08:34Speaker 4: because they enjoyed a happy hour on their report.
- 1:08:41Speaker 2: Clutch my pearls and call me surely.
- 1:08:45Speaker 4: I mean, guys, anyone that wants to imply a seventeen
- 1:08:50Speaker 4: year old had to have been drinking because her parents
- 1:08:54Speaker 4: enjoyed happy hour. I enjoy happy hour and a cocktail.
- 1:09:00Speaker 4: That does not mean my kids are drinking and driving.
- 1:09:04Speaker 4: I mean, I hate that somebody wanted to put that
- 1:09:07Speaker 4: on a seventeen year old. I mean, granted this was
- 1:09:09Speaker 4: in two thousand, but why would you even go back
- 1:09:12Speaker 4: and say that there was no alcohol on their breath,
- 1:09:16Speaker 4: They went to the hospital, all of this stuff. It
- 1:09:19Speaker 4: was purely an accident. And you think she doesn't live
- 1:09:23Speaker 4: with the guilt of killing one of her good, good friends.
- 1:09:29Speaker 4: And y'all want to try to slander her and say,
- 1:09:32Speaker 4: because your parents did happy Hour, they had to be luscious.
- 1:09:37Speaker 4: I mean, guys, that's just rude. It's just rude. So now,
- 1:09:44Speaker 4: Mike's family did sue Laura's family and they settled out
- 1:09:48Speaker 4: of court for an undisclosed amount of money. Now, I
- 1:09:53Speaker 4: did find an article that Mike's parents were extremely heartbroken, which, guys,
- 1:09:59Speaker 4: I cannot even try to put myself in their shoes.
- 1:10:04Speaker 4: I can't. But his mom would call Laura's mom in
- 1:10:08Speaker 4: the middle of the night crying and say, your daughter
- 1:10:12Speaker 4: killed my son. I mean it destroyed I mean, think
- 1:10:18Speaker 4: about it. I mean that's a mom shouldn't bury their son.
- 1:10:23Speaker 4: So that's very heartbreaking. But everybody who knew Laura before
- 1:10:29Speaker 4: and after said that night changed her life, which if
- 1:10:34Speaker 4: it didn't, I would say she was hugely narcissistic. Right,
- 1:10:38Speaker 4: She didn't leave her house for months. She didn't leave
- 1:10:43Speaker 4: her house for months. She wouldn't drive, she had her
- 1:10:47Speaker 4: parents take her to and from school. She didn't want
- 1:10:50Speaker 4: to get behind the wheel.
- 1:10:53Speaker 2: Oh my gosh.
- 1:10:54Speaker 4: I mean it changed her. And they said she became
- 1:10:58Speaker 4: more of a very somber, introspective kind of person and
- 1:11:05Speaker 4: how would it not be right now in her book.
- 1:11:11Speaker 4: After her book came out, there was articles that people
- 1:11:15Speaker 4: started writing to her saying I killed somebody by drinking
- 1:11:20Speaker 4: and driving, or I killed somebody in a rag. How
- 1:11:23Speaker 4: do you get past it? And asking for advice, And
- 1:11:29Speaker 4: she took the time to write them all letters and
- 1:11:31Speaker 4: just saying you're never going to get rid of the guilt,
- 1:11:36Speaker 4: You're always going to feel guilty, but you need to
- 1:11:38Speaker 4: forgive yourself and you need to learn how to live
- 1:11:43Speaker 4: a better life for you and for that person. So
- 1:11:51Speaker 4: everything I've read, it was truly a mistake. It was
- 1:11:54Speaker 4: an accident. She did not intend to kill anyone. She
- 1:11:58Speaker 4: was not out speeding trying to writ she wasn't drinking,
- 1:12:01Speaker 4: she wasn't doing drugs, she wasn't given ahead in the car,
- 1:12:04Speaker 4: she wasn't doing any of that. Just that one in there, well,
- 1:12:11Speaker 4: because that was one of the rumors was that she
- 1:12:16Speaker 4: was getting frisky with the friends. So just thing, and
- 1:12:21Speaker 4: people even tried to say that there was a cover up,
- 1:12:25Speaker 4: that the political people covered it up. She wasn't married
- 1:12:29Speaker 4: to George w Abyss. She didn't even know the Bush family.
- 1:12:33Speaker 4: So I would like someone to tell me how they
- 1:12:35Speaker 4: covered up their future daughter in lost stuff that they
- 1:12:37Speaker 4: had never met.
- 1:12:39Speaker 2: Because they're going off of the Kennedys is what they're
- 1:12:42Speaker 2: going off of. They're going off of what's it called
- 1:12:44Speaker 2: up in northern whatever, Rhode Island or whatnot.
- 1:12:49Speaker 4: Chiquia.
- 1:12:52Speaker 2: Yeah, that I can't that plays. I couldn't put it
- 1:12:55Speaker 2: together unless chip aquatic chip, equittic chip doesn't Madails look,
- 1:13:02Speaker 2: I was just doing my DJ routine.
- 1:13:07Speaker 4: So all I want to say is whether you like
- 1:13:10Speaker 4: George w or you like Laura, it doesn't matter. I
- 1:13:15Speaker 4: think we need to remember times were different back then
- 1:13:18Speaker 4: and believe it or not, I would hope that if
- 1:13:21Speaker 4: that type of accident still happened today, law enforcement would
- 1:13:26Speaker 4: still not file charges on an actual accident, right because
- 1:13:35Speaker 4: the girl who hit the car I was in, who
- 1:13:39Speaker 4: was drunk on New Year's Day in the afternoon, she
- 1:13:43Speaker 4: didn't have charges filed against her because she was a minor.
- 1:13:47Speaker 4: So I would hope if it was truly an accident
- 1:13:50Speaker 4: on a dark farm road, you look at what you
- 1:13:53Speaker 4: need to do to make it safer for people, because
- 1:13:58Speaker 4: accidents happen. I mean, I've backed in Ah's car in
- 1:14:02Speaker 4: my own driveway.
- 1:14:05Speaker 2: I'd love to say that they wouldn't know, but I
- 1:14:09Speaker 2: would say that with a disclaimer an asterisk, saying it
- 1:14:12Speaker 2: depends on who you are.
- 1:14:14Speaker 4: So yeah, but she was nobody. I mean, she lived
- 1:14:18Speaker 4: in Midland, Texas. She wasn't. He, on the other hand,
- 1:14:22Speaker 4: was the football star and all of that kind of stuff.
- 1:14:26Speaker 4: But that's my case. I just think people tried to
- 1:14:31Speaker 4: make it into something. It wasn't. Yes, she killed somebody,
- 1:14:36Speaker 4: but it was an accident, it was an involunt I
- 1:14:41Speaker 4: mean it truly. There is nothing anybody could have done
- 1:14:46Speaker 4: to her that I'm sure she hasn't done to herself
- 1:14:48Speaker 4: as far as the guilt, and I think it made
- 1:14:51Speaker 4: her a better person. I don't know what she was before,
- 1:14:54Speaker 4: but I think she's a classy lady. And that's my case.
- 1:15:01Speaker 2: That's well, you know, the your case was very much.
- 1:15:09Speaker 2: I mean, it happened, and it sucked, and f media
- 1:15:13Speaker 2: for bringing that shut up so many years later. Mine.
- 1:15:19Speaker 2: She shouldn't have done did it? Put it that way,
- 1:15:24Speaker 2: and she tried to cover it up. Yeah, so all right,
- 1:15:33Speaker 2: Lori Lawoughlin. Everybody is well known as an actress and
- 1:15:39Speaker 2: mostly for her role as Aunt Becky on the popular
- 1:15:43Speaker 2: TV show Full House, Cut it Out. Somebody should have
- 1:15:46Speaker 2: said that before she did it, and she became a
- 1:15:52Speaker 2: central figure in a huge college admission scandal. That that
- 1:15:57Speaker 2: just it. It put the US off kilt. It just
- 1:16:01Speaker 2: rocked the US in twenty nineteen, and the case, which
- 1:16:06Speaker 2: was widely known as Operation Varsity Blues Real Clever, exposed
- 1:16:15Speaker 2: the lengths to which some people are going to go
- 1:16:17Speaker 2: to secure admission for their children. That's a whole nother
- 1:16:20Speaker 2: soapbox that I really am not going to get into.
- 1:16:23Speaker 2: I know you're happy about that, yay me. I'll leave it.
- 1:16:26Speaker 4: Alone rule the headlines for a while. I mean, it
- 1:16:30Speaker 4: got to the point where you could not open any
- 1:16:33Speaker 4: news app without that just being right in your face.
- 1:16:37Speaker 4: It was like Mother Teresa in some people's minds, did it?
- 1:16:43Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 1:16:44Speaker 2: Well, oh man, it's really hard for people to understand
- 1:16:48Speaker 2: that actors are not their characters. Central to the scandal
- 1:16:55Speaker 2: was William Rick, Singer, the mastermind behind this scheme. Now,
- 1:17:00Speaker 2: before we talk about Rick's singer in his life, let's
- 1:17:02Speaker 2: talk a little bit about Lori in her life. We'll
- 1:17:04Speaker 2: give for her due. She was born July twenty eighth,
- 1:17:08Speaker 2: nineteen sixty four in Queens, New York City. She grew
- 1:17:12Speaker 2: up in oh Man, hop Hoog Hoppog, Long Island. Somebody's
- 1:17:17Speaker 2: gonna correct me, so please do. It's haupp au Ge.
- 1:17:22Speaker 2: I'm gonna go with Hotpog for all I know is
- 1:17:26Speaker 2: hapage anyways in Long Island and began her career as
- 1:17:34Speaker 2: a model at a young age. By the age of twelve,
- 1:17:37Speaker 2: Laughlin had secured modeling gigs and appeared in various commercials.
- 1:17:41Speaker 2: Her acting career took off in the early eighties when
- 1:17:43Speaker 2: she landed a role in the soap opera The Edge
- 1:17:46Speaker 2: of Night, where she played Jody Travis from eighty to
- 1:17:49Speaker 2: eighty three. Her big break came in ninth I hate
- 1:17:55Speaker 2: the fact that this was nineteen eighty eight, came in
- 1:17:57Speaker 2: nineteeneen eighty eight, when she was cast as Rebecca Donaldson,
- 1:18:01Speaker 2: later known as Aunt Pecky, on the hit family sitcom
- 1:18:04Speaker 2: Full House. Some of you all were not born some
- 1:18:07Speaker 2: of us were not that old.
- 1:18:10Speaker 4: Just some of this were eighteen.
- 1:18:14Speaker 2: So I get ready for this. I saw something the
- 1:18:18Speaker 2: other day and I shared it with a couple of
- 1:18:20Speaker 2: folks where if you were at this point in time,
- 1:18:23Speaker 2: if you were born before nineteen ninety. By the way,
- 1:18:25Speaker 2: this is a sidebar. If you were born before nineteen ninety,
- 1:18:29Speaker 2: at this point in time, you are now older than
- 1:18:32Speaker 2: Marv from Home alone. Yeah. Yeah, imagine this nineteen eighty
- 1:18:41Speaker 2: seven person being like, what, but I feel like I
- 1:18:46Speaker 2: look better? Do I look? Hopefully you too? Hopefully I
- 1:18:49Speaker 2: look better. I don't know. Thank you, thank you. You
- 1:18:52Speaker 2: should have been like never because that's okay. It doesn't matter,
- 1:18:55Speaker 2: and I digress. The show was a huge success and
- 1:18:59Speaker 2: it ran until nineteen nine, and the character became a
- 1:19:02Speaker 2: huge part of American TV culture. Amy, That's exactly. That's
- 1:19:08Speaker 2: what I'm saying. That's what i'm That's what I'm saying.
- 1:19:12Speaker 4: Okay, And maybe it's because of my age, because I'm
- 1:19:17Speaker 4: much older. When I think of American TV families, I
- 1:19:24Speaker 4: think of a Partridge.
- 1:19:25Speaker 2: Family, Partridge Brady. Yeah.
- 1:19:31Speaker 4: I mean I don't think a full house.
- 1:19:36Speaker 2: I think we all have a family, you know, TV family.
- 1:19:41Speaker 2: You know, I think Partridge family, Brady's right before that
- 1:19:44Speaker 2: was all in the family. So that group all now
- 1:19:51Speaker 2: like not my kids, but a little older than my kids.
- 1:19:54Speaker 2: You got modern family. So every I think every group
- 1:19:57Speaker 2: of folks has like that TV family. Yeah.
- 1:20:00Speaker 4: I mean to me, they were because they were the
- 1:20:02Speaker 4: first non traditional family. There wasn't mom, dad and kids.
- 1:20:10Speaker 4: If you think about it, I think that's why I
- 1:20:12Speaker 4: don't think about them, because I think of Partridge family, Walton's,
- 1:20:16Speaker 4: even the Ingles, because there was mom, dad and kid.
- 1:20:19Speaker 4: This was the first family that I can remember that
- 1:20:25Speaker 4: there wasn't mom and dad.
- 1:20:29Speaker 2: Well you had uh oh, shoot, what was the show
- 1:20:33Speaker 2: with well, there was Punky Brewster. There was also Different Strokes.
- 1:20:41Speaker 2: Different Strokes was very non traditional where you had a
- 1:20:46Speaker 2: white richer father and then two children.
- 1:20:49Speaker 4: You still had mom and dad.
- 1:20:53Speaker 2: Was there a was there a wife?
- 1:20:55Speaker 4: There was a wife?
- 1:20:57Speaker 2: Was I just I don't remember. I don't remember much
- 1:20:59Speaker 2: about her.
- 1:21:00Speaker 4: So maybe I said, maybe it's just because you know
- 1:21:05Speaker 4: I'm old, admitted I'm old.
- 1:21:07Speaker 2: It's okay, No, you had that. I mean he had
- 1:21:10Speaker 2: more con mindy, it's not a family. I just wanted
- 1:21:12Speaker 2: to say it. Uh yeah. Punky Brewster was another one
- 1:21:19Speaker 2: for sure. Sam nice Pool with the Punky Brewster. Also,
- 1:21:23Speaker 2: Hi Sam, I am sorry. There is nothing better. Okay,
- 1:21:30Speaker 2: I can't click. My computer is not working.
- 1:21:33Speaker 4: There is nothing better than good times JJ donah mightnah.
- 1:21:39Speaker 2: Mind all right? If you know us, we digress.
- 1:21:46Speaker 4: Sorry a lot.
- 1:21:48Speaker 2: But hey, oddly enough, it's how we keep the train
- 1:21:51Speaker 2: on the tracks. So so she was a household name.
- 1:21:54Speaker 2: Following full House, she continued to work in television and films.
- 1:21:57Speaker 2: She started in the series Summerland, which she also co
- 1:22:00Speaker 2: created and produced, and appeared in numerous TV movies and
- 1:22:03Speaker 2: guest roles on various shows. She found a niche in
- 1:22:06Speaker 2: that family friendly entertainment, and she worked with networks like Hallmark,
- 1:22:10Speaker 2: where she started in the popular series When Calls the Heart,
- 1:22:13Speaker 2: which I know nothing about. Hallmark movies are. I believe
- 1:22:19Speaker 2: in feel good movies, but there is a certain level
- 1:22:22Speaker 2: of which I start feeling like a bat is being
- 1:22:25Speaker 2: rammed down my throat and if except the crazy, you
- 1:22:29Speaker 2: should probably buy me dinner first. So well, Hallmark's okay,
- 1:22:40Speaker 2: But how often can a movie that seems great there's
- 1:22:48Speaker 2: a disaster and then something happens, and then things are
- 1:22:50Speaker 2: all better at the end and wrapped up with a
- 1:22:51Speaker 2: nice red boat. Sorry, I don't mean to.
- 1:22:58Speaker 4: No, but at Christmas, I think people get depressed and
- 1:23:01Speaker 4: they need those good, feel good movies because they need
- 1:23:05Speaker 4: to go to bed happy, fair fair. But other than that,
- 1:23:14Speaker 4: after Christmas now you don't need all that.
- 1:23:18Speaker 2: I would argue that the Canadian wild West is wilder
- 1:23:21Speaker 2: than the American wild West. I have done enough cases
- 1:23:25Speaker 2: on brue crime.
- 1:23:26Speaker 4: To know I justin say, yeah, let's get Mike on here.
- 1:23:32Speaker 2: Oh, I'm sure he would have something to say. All right,
- 1:23:36Speaker 2: So Laughlin married Massimo Gianouli. Boy, I'm hoping that I
- 1:23:41Speaker 2: said that, right. I think I said that right, who
- 1:23:44Speaker 2: is a fashion designer who's best known for popular clothing
- 1:23:47Speaker 2: line Massamo. In nineteen ninety seven, they had two They
- 1:23:51Speaker 2: have two daughters, Isabella Rose and Olivia Jade. I love
- 1:23:54Speaker 2: both of those names and approve of them. I think
- 1:23:57Speaker 2: they're gorgeous. We just roll with it. See if you
- 1:24:03Speaker 2: have to tell me, just roll with it about an
- 1:24:05Speaker 2: entertainment piece. I don't know if I'm going to continue
- 1:24:08Speaker 2: to roll with it. It's like when you tell me
- 1:24:10Speaker 2: you have to make it through like the first four
- 1:24:11Speaker 2: episodes of a series, and I'm like, well, why didn't
- 1:24:14Speaker 2: they grab me in the first episode?
- 1:24:17Speaker 4: Because sometimes the you know, you need episodes. It's kind
- 1:24:22Speaker 4: of like a man they need four play, or women
- 1:24:24Speaker 4: need floor play. It's just not lick it and stick it.
- 1:24:26Speaker 4: You need a little bit build up. Oh my god,
- 1:24:30Speaker 4: I just said.
- 1:24:31Speaker 2: That objection and order in the court. Amusing my gavel
- 1:24:38Speaker 2: on you, but I am muted. No, it's a perfect
- 1:24:44Speaker 2: time for our viewership to go straight up. We're going
- 1:24:49Speaker 2: to isolate that and make that a short Okay, all right?
- 1:24:57Speaker 2: Olivia Jade in particular, Game to Following is a social
- 1:25:00Speaker 2: media influencer word focusing on beauty and lifestyle content. So
- 1:25:08Speaker 2: let's move over into Rick Singer's background. Ells, uh, it's
- 1:25:23Speaker 2: gonna be fun for you to leave this stream. All right.
- 1:25:27Speaker 2: So Rick Singer was born in nineteen sixty and grew
- 1:25:31Speaker 2: up in a middle class I'm drinking. It has nothing
- 1:25:35Speaker 2: to do with what I just said, all right. He
- 1:25:39Speaker 2: was born in a middle class family. Details about his
- 1:25:41Speaker 2: early life were kind of relatively obscure, but he's known.
- 1:25:44Speaker 2: It is known that he attended Trinidad University in San Antonio, Texas,
- 1:25:49Speaker 2: where he graduated in nineteen eighty two. Singer's early career
- 1:25:52Speaker 2: involved working as a college coach, where he gained insight
- 1:25:55Speaker 2: into the admissions process and the role of athletics in
- 1:25:58Speaker 2: securing college. I went to a D three school. There
- 1:26:05Speaker 2: are no scholarships. People play because they really love it,
- 1:26:08Speaker 2: not that other D one don't, but they don't have
- 1:26:10Speaker 2: the there's no financial incentive, right So I don't know.
- 1:26:15Speaker 2: I mean, I know that if you're good and maybe
- 1:26:18Speaker 2: that's how you secure a way and that gets you
- 1:26:20Speaker 2: to a better life, that's awesome. I think there needs
- 1:26:24Speaker 2: to be a less on that, But I also think
- 1:26:27Speaker 2: there needs to be less emphasis on college anyways, moving on,
- 1:26:30Speaker 2: that was my soapbox earlier that I mentioned, and now
- 1:26:31Speaker 2: I'm going to throw it away. In two thousand and seven,
- 1:26:35Speaker 2: Singer founded the ke Key, which sounds like a cult,
- 1:26:42Speaker 2: does it not?
- 1:26:43Speaker 5: It?
- 1:26:44Speaker 2: Does it is? It was a college preparatory business that
- 1:26:50Speaker 2: initially offered legitimate college counseling services. However, as competition for
- 1:26:55Speaker 2: admission to elite colleges intensified, Singer began to offer more
- 1:27:00Speaker 2: dubious guaranteed admission services guaranteed, leveraging his knowledge of the
- 1:27:05Speaker 2: admissions process and his network of contacts. Don't uh oh
- 1:27:12Speaker 2: uh oh, we lost. We lost through kind arry. She'll
- 1:27:17Speaker 2: be back.
- 1:27:18Speaker 7: It's okay, it's okay, it'll be okay, everybody, It'll be okay. Right,
- 1:27:23Speaker 7: I don't know, maybe it won't be Hopefully she comes back.
- 1:27:27Speaker 7: Don't throw away the soap box.
- 1:27:28Speaker 2: Wash your feet, I agree, captain, wash your feet. Take
- 1:27:32Speaker 2: that Kelsey all right. So Singer's scheme developed and and
- 1:27:48Speaker 2: she's back.
- 1:27:52Speaker 4: Just jump I'm back now, I get her off of
- 1:27:56Speaker 4: that thing.
- 1:27:59Speaker 2: No oh no, no, okay. So the scheme developed into
- 1:28:05Speaker 2: a sophisticated network involving bribery, fraud, and money laundering. He
- 1:28:10Speaker 2: marketed his services to wealthy families, promising them guaranteed admissions
- 1:28:13Speaker 2: to elite colleges through a combination of legitimate counseling and
- 1:28:17Speaker 2: fraudulent activities. His operations included two primary methods, the quote
- 1:28:22Speaker 2: side door and the back door, which kind of sounds
- 1:28:25Speaker 2: like a tender profile. I'm not all for it, okay,
- 1:28:30Speaker 2: So side door the method involved bribing college coaches and
- 1:28:35Speaker 2: athletic department officials to falsely designate students as recruited as athletes,
- 1:28:43Speaker 2: regardless of their athletic abilities. This tactic leveraged the less
- 1:28:47Speaker 2: scrutinized admissions process for athletes. Now the back door. That
- 1:28:51Speaker 2: method involved making large donations directly to colleges, often through
- 1:28:55Speaker 2: Singers Foundation, in exchange for special consideration during the admissions process,
- 1:28:59Speaker 2: which happens all the time, all the time. So I
- 1:29:04Speaker 2: don't I'm guessing that was just part of the deal.
- 1:29:10Speaker 2: So you got side door, back door, tendor, whatever you
- 1:29:15Speaker 2: want it to be. In terms of some of the
- 1:29:19Speaker 2: mechanics of the fraud, the first thing was standardized test cheating.
- 1:29:24Speaker 2: Singer employed proctors to facilitate cheating on standardized tests like
- 1:29:27Speaker 2: the SAT and the ACT. Those proctors either corrected students'
- 1:29:31Speaker 2: answers or took the tests on their behalf. In some
- 1:29:34Speaker 2: ca cases, he arranged for students to be diagnosed with
- 1:29:37Speaker 2: learning disabilities to secure extra time and a separate testing
- 1:29:40Speaker 2: environment where cheating could occur more easily, which is.
- 1:29:45Speaker 6: Just rid.
- 1:29:47Speaker 2: Oh makes me angry. And then the second bit of
- 1:29:54Speaker 2: that was false athletic profiles. So Singer's team created fake
- 1:29:58Speaker 2: athletic profiles for students, complete with agbricaded accolades and staged photographs.
- 1:30:03Speaker 2: These profiles were then submitted to colleges to support applications
- 1:30:06Speaker 2: for athletic scholarships or recruitment. Now the scandal was uncovered
- 1:30:12Speaker 2: through a separate securities fraud investigation, which led federal authorities
- 1:30:17Speaker 2: to discover the widespread college admissions fraud. On March twelfth,
- 1:30:20Speaker 2: twenty nineteen, the US Attorney's Office for the District of
- 1:30:23Speaker 2: Massachusetts announced indictments against fifty individuals, including parents, coaches, and administrators.
- 1:30:35Speaker 2: In terms of her involvement and what happened with her
- 1:30:38Speaker 2: and the details of the crime, Lori Laughlin and Massimo
- 1:30:43Speaker 2: Giannouli agreed to pay five hundred thousand dollars to facilitate
- 1:30:47Speaker 2: their daughter's admission to the University of Southern California. As
- 1:30:51Speaker 2: part of the scheme, they created fake rowing profiles, which
- 1:30:57Speaker 2: included staged photographs of their daughters on rowing machines to
- 1:31:01Speaker 2: falsely present them as accomplished rowers. These profiles were submitted
- 1:31:06Speaker 2: to USC to gain admission through the athletic recruitment process.
- 1:31:10Speaker 4: Okay, I have to just stop you right there, because
- 1:31:12Speaker 4: the thing that makes me furious about this any athlete,
- 1:31:16Speaker 4: there are stats online. Even Chase Lackey, who is in
- 1:31:23Speaker 4: high school way back when, you can still find his
- 1:31:25Speaker 4: baseball stats. You can still find some of my swimming
- 1:31:29Speaker 4: stats online if you know my name. How did the
- 1:31:34Speaker 4: emissions people not look at that? You can't just get photographs.
- 1:31:41Speaker 4: There has to be documentation, just like you have to
- 1:31:44Speaker 4: turn in transcripts. You should have to turn in Sorry,
- 1:31:52Speaker 4: I mean it's just money. No, just gets in the way.
- 1:31:59Speaker 2: Oh yeah, no, every time, every time, honestly, and I'll
- 1:32:03Speaker 2: probably i'd probably say this at the end. Anyways, what
- 1:32:05Speaker 2: really drives me and is the the the inability to
- 1:32:15Speaker 2: It's the inability to trust that your kids are worthy
- 1:32:19Speaker 2: enough of getting into school on their own. I think
- 1:32:24Speaker 2: that's what drives me crazy.
- 1:32:26Speaker 4: Didn't even give them the opportunity, did she? Did they
- 1:32:31Speaker 4: try to take that safety and stuff on their own.
- 1:32:34Speaker 2: I don't believe.
- 1:32:35Speaker 4: So, I mean, so basically you're saying, I don't think
- 1:32:39Speaker 4: you're good enough. I mean, what kind of therapy did
- 1:32:42Speaker 4: those girls need?
- 1:32:46Speaker 2: Lots? I would I would imagine a chunk for sure.
- 1:32:52Speaker 4: But they went along with the lie.
- 1:32:56Speaker 2: Well did they know? Well, at some point they I
- 1:33:00Speaker 2: mean they know, yeah, I don't know. Yeah. So the
- 1:33:04Speaker 2: payment was made in installments to singers Sham charity, the
- 1:33:08Speaker 2: Key Worldwide Foundation, which sounds a lot like a religion
- 1:33:12Speaker 2: that's not a religion that thinks it's a religion. I
- 1:33:15Speaker 2: won't say what the religion is, but you know what
- 1:33:17Speaker 2: I mean, which he used to bribe USC officials. Donna Heinel,
- 1:33:23Speaker 2: the senior Associate Athletic Director at USC, played a key
- 1:33:27Speaker 2: role in securing the girls admission by falsely designated them
- 1:33:30Speaker 2: as crew recruits. So, I mean, I would I would
- 1:33:35Speaker 2: hope that they'd wonder about the rowing machine shoot, and honestly,
- 1:33:38Speaker 2: if they didn't, then maybe they did need to go
- 1:33:40Speaker 2: through this in order to get into school, because we
- 1:33:43Speaker 2: don't really this is what is this? We don't do this.
- 1:33:47Speaker 2: We don't do a lot of this.
- 1:33:48Speaker 4: We do a new diet. No, it's a new diet plan.
- 1:33:51Speaker 4: That's how you lose weight is by doing that.
- 1:33:53Speaker 2: So oh yes, And there's happen to be somebody in
- 1:33:56Speaker 2: the corner quietly taking pictures.
- 1:34:00Speaker 4: Before and after photos.
- 1:34:02Speaker 2: Kind of awkward. Well one of them was an influencer,
- 1:34:05Speaker 2: So who knows, Uh, mister beast is out there.
- 1:34:10Speaker 4: You know what.
- 1:34:11Speaker 2: I'm more worried about saying his name that I am
- 1:34:13Speaker 2: the other thing that I didn't say. All right, So
- 1:34:18Speaker 2: initial please and charges. Laughlin and Giannolely initially pled not guilty,
- 1:34:21Speaker 2: maintaining their innocence and fighting the charges bad call. They
- 1:34:25Speaker 2: faced multiple counts of conspiracy to commit mail fraud and
- 1:34:28Speaker 2: honest Services mail fraud. The legal battle was highly publicized,
- 1:34:32Speaker 2: drawing significant media attention in public scrutiny, plea agreement and sentencing.
- 1:34:37Speaker 2: In May of twenty twenty, amid mounting evidence and public pressure,
- 1:34:41Speaker 2: Laughlin and Giannouli reversed their stance and agreed to plead
- 1:34:45Speaker 2: guilty as part of a plea agreement. Somebody brought them
- 1:34:48Speaker 2: a arry sized binder of evidence and they said, I
- 1:34:51Speaker 2: don't think, so, uh, let's do this a different way.
- 1:34:56Speaker 2: So uh. Laughlin was sentenced to two months in prison,
- 1:35:00Speaker 2: oh boo hoo, two months of supervised release, oh no,
- 1:35:04Speaker 2: and one hundred hours of community service darn, and a
- 1:35:08Speaker 2: fine of one hundred and fifty thousand dollars nothing.
- 1:35:11Speaker 4: Yes, I just googled something. Did you know one of
- 1:35:17Speaker 4: the daughters, Bella, she had been at USC for three
- 1:35:22Speaker 4: years when this came out.
- 1:35:28Speaker 2: I think that they let her stay, didn't they.
- 1:35:30Speaker 4: No, they kicked her out, but she had already been
- 1:35:34Speaker 4: here for three years. Sorry, I just I just wondered
- 1:35:41Speaker 4: if they went to college. And when we were talking
- 1:35:43Speaker 4: about did they know they got in on the line,
- 1:35:46Speaker 4: did they or maybe they airheads?
- 1:35:49Speaker 2: But yes, and I am going to talk about Macy
- 1:35:53Speaker 2: and Huffman, right, Felicity.
- 1:35:59Speaker 4: He did not know because I don't think he knew.
- 1:36:04Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know. I like him ever since I
- 1:36:06Speaker 2: saw him first.
- 1:36:09Speaker 4: I don't think he knew. I don't think he knew missed.
- 1:36:15Speaker 2: Oh it's a deep cut. But I was a kid
- 1:36:16Speaker 2: when it came out and it was funny. Okay, So
- 1:36:20Speaker 2: Laughlin not really sentenced much. Gianoli received a more severe
- 1:36:25Speaker 2: sentence of five months in prison, two years of supervised release,
- 1:36:31Speaker 2: two hundred and fifty hours of community service, and a
- 1:36:33Speaker 2: fine of two hundred and fifty thousand dollars. What's the
- 1:36:35Speaker 2: penalty for getting caught with weed again, because I'm pretty
- 1:36:38Speaker 2: sure it's more than that.
- 1:36:41Speaker 4: I'm sorry. When you have millions, that is a drop
- 1:36:47Speaker 4: in the bucket. That is like going to McDonald's and
- 1:36:52Speaker 4: getting a mit coke.
- 1:36:56Speaker 2: But like, I'm not even talking about the money. Like
- 1:36:58Speaker 2: this was. This was multiple counts of conspiracy to commit
- 1:37:02Speaker 2: mail fraud and honest services mail fraud. And they got
- 1:37:05Speaker 2: a grand total together of seven months in prison.
- 1:37:09Speaker 4: Yeah, now I agree it was ann which.
- 1:37:13Speaker 2: I mean, you know that their prison is not I
- 1:37:17Speaker 2: highly doubt that they're in gen Pop.
- 1:37:19Speaker 4: They were in a bougie federal prison.
- 1:37:23Speaker 2: There it is.
- 1:37:25Speaker 4: They were bougie.
- 1:37:28Speaker 2: Yeah. So other notable figures as mentioned Felicity Huffman. She's yeah,
- 1:37:37Speaker 2: best known for her role, well she's known, she's known
- 1:37:40Speaker 2: for her role in Desperate Housewives. Huffman paid fifteen thousand
- 1:37:44Speaker 2: dollars to Singers Organization to facilitate cheating on her daughter's
- 1:37:47Speaker 2: SAT exam. She pled guilty was sentenced to fourteen days
- 1:37:51Speaker 2: in prison, one year of supervised release, two hundred and
- 1:37:54Speaker 2: fifty hours of community service, and a thirty thousand dollars fine.
- 1:38:00Speaker 4: But in her things, she was the first one that
- 1:38:03Speaker 4: admitted guilt, right, she was like, yes, I'm busted. Here's
- 1:38:07Speaker 4: everything where Laughlin, if I remember correctly, she denied, denied, denied, denied.
- 1:38:16Speaker 2: Yes she was. She was very much in Egypt and denial. Ah,
- 1:38:23Speaker 2: that's a joke for the mother in laws out there, Okay,
- 1:38:30Speaker 2: spending that one out to you. Uh So. The scandal
- 1:38:35Speaker 2: implicated numerous other wealthy and influential parents, as well as
- 1:38:39Speaker 2: college coaches administrators from prestigious institutions like Yale stand for
- 1:38:43Speaker 2: Georgetown in the University of California, Los Angeles say it
- 1:38:47Speaker 2: ain't so are you saying that they're not as great
- 1:38:50Speaker 2: as are? You know, not as cracked up as people
- 1:38:52Speaker 2: say they are. These individuals were charged with various crimes,
- 1:38:57Speaker 2: conspiracy to commit racketeering, mail fraud, and honest ser is
- 1:39:00Speaker 2: his mail fraud. Now I kind of don't like to
- 1:39:05Speaker 2: just leave it. I want to talk about the impact
- 1:39:07Speaker 2: because there was an impact on a couple of different
- 1:39:10Speaker 2: groups here and the first one, I mean, overall, there
- 1:39:14Speaker 2: was an impact on the universities. Right, their reputation was
- 1:39:17Speaker 2: in the shitter, so they faced reputational damage, which I'm
- 1:39:23Speaker 2: sure they still have plenty of money in their endowment,
- 1:39:26Speaker 2: but the exposure called into question their integrity. It also
- 1:39:30Speaker 2: created a response in terms of a reform to their
- 1:39:33Speaker 2: policy changes are policy reform and policy changes on their
- 1:39:38Speaker 2: admissions policies, stricter verification, uh, a scrutiny, higher level of
- 1:39:44Speaker 2: scrutiny for athletic recruitments. I think you just need to
- 1:39:47Speaker 2: get better people in there. What did what did Rick get?
- 1:39:53Speaker 4: That was me? I don't have my YouTube account up
- 1:39:56Speaker 4: since it cut me out. But what did the guy
- 1:39:58Speaker 4: who set it up? The found nation? What sentence did
- 1:40:02Speaker 4: he get? Did he get more than sevenilence?
- 1:40:11Speaker 2: One second? No, because I was so focused on overall
- 1:40:15Speaker 2: I was. I was focused on.
- 1:40:16Speaker 4: Because he was the brains body.
- 1:40:21Speaker 2: Yeah. He was sentenced to a grand total of three
- 1:40:25Speaker 2: and a half years uh, three years of supervised release
- 1:40:31Speaker 2: and a forfeiture of over ten million dollars. Okay, here's
- 1:40:37Speaker 2: my favorite part about rich people who get sentenced to crimes.
- 1:40:39Speaker 2: They get sentenced, they're found guilty. There to do the matter,
- 1:40:44Speaker 2: how short how long, But then they're given a date
- 1:40:48Speaker 2: to report to prison.
- 1:40:50Speaker 4: It's not right.
- 1:40:53Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, not like every other normy out here in
- 1:40:57Speaker 2: the world's weird. The double standard in terms of everything
- 1:41:06Speaker 2: else the crimes. Her involvement in the college admission scandal
- 1:41:09Speaker 2: just serve as a reminder of the links at which
- 1:41:12Speaker 2: some people are willing to go to secure advantages for
- 1:41:14Speaker 2: their kids, which, by the way, there are right ways
- 1:41:17Speaker 2: to do things and wrong ways to do these things.
- 1:41:19Speaker 4: And they have gotten their daughter's tutors in middle school
- 1:41:25Speaker 4: and high school, taught their daughters the values of learning
- 1:41:29Speaker 4: more to study and do all of that, and given
- 1:41:33Speaker 4: them because they had the money, they could have given
- 1:41:35Speaker 4: them advantages that other students didn't have. It made them
- 1:41:39Speaker 4: work for it. Still, or in my thought, that's the good.
- 1:41:46Speaker 2: But then there was the key foundation. I can either
- 1:41:50Speaker 2: write a real easy check or have to deal with
- 1:41:54Speaker 2: my kids complaining about having tutors and having to do
- 1:41:57Speaker 2: work and things like that, versus recording an influencer vide it.
- 1:42:00Speaker 2: And it's not I don't even think I truly that's
- 1:42:03Speaker 2: not putting blame on the kids, because I think a
- 1:42:05Speaker 2: good chunk of these kids are victims themselves truly, you know, want,
- 1:42:12Speaker 2: how how was.
- 1:42:14Speaker 4: Go ahead? No, I was gonna say, maybe they didn't
- 1:42:18Speaker 4: even want to go to college and they were forced
- 1:42:21Speaker 4: into it, and you had to go to this college
- 1:42:23Speaker 4: because we need to be able to say you went there.
- 1:42:26Speaker 4: I mean, how much of that was pushed?
- 1:42:32Speaker 2: Yep? And it seems like they are the least likely
- 1:42:37Speaker 2: like a group of young people who would need to
- 1:42:41Speaker 2: do college. And that's not saying that. I mean, I
- 1:42:45Speaker 2: don't want to make that a blanket thing, because I
- 1:42:47Speaker 2: think it's I think it's important if you want to go, go,
- 1:42:51Speaker 2: but to secure, to secure falsely a spot and take
- 1:42:55Speaker 2: away from somebody else's who worked real hard on a
- 1:42:58Speaker 2: rowing team or whatever to get to where they are,
- 1:43:01Speaker 2: and then all of a sudden it's gone, Yeah, you've
- 1:43:05Speaker 2: screwed so many kids over, you know what I mean?
- 1:43:08Speaker 4: So, now, did they get scholarship?
- 1:43:12Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 1:43:13Speaker 4: Or just admittance? You know, I don't know. I mean,
- 1:43:20Speaker 4: because they didn't need the scholarships.
- 1:43:22Speaker 2: I think it was primarily admittance. Because because admittance, Yeah,
- 1:43:28Speaker 2: usually with scholarships, there's a solid contract. You've got a
- 1:43:32Speaker 2: sign saying you're going to be on the team for
- 1:43:33Speaker 2: so long. I don't. I don't know. I honestly, I
- 1:43:36Speaker 2: can't remember. To be honest, i'd be they didn't.
- 1:43:39Speaker 4: Need scholar I mean, I was just worried that not
- 1:43:41Speaker 4: only they took admittance, but that they take a scholarship
- 1:43:44Speaker 4: from somebody, because that would double down make.
- 1:43:50Speaker 2: It bad.
- 1:43:55Speaker 4: Gazin tyche gazin type.
- 1:43:58Speaker 2: God. I love that mute button. Hopefully it worked. Hopefully
- 1:44:03Speaker 2: didn't hear me his knees? Yeah, yes, yeah, yeah, So admittance, Yeah,
- 1:44:11Speaker 2: one didn't even want to be there, So I'm assuming
- 1:44:14Speaker 2: it's the influencer. But I couldn't tell you.
- 1:44:17Speaker 4: She was making a lot of bunk, you know, bucks
- 1:44:19Speaker 4: on her own.
- 1:44:22Speaker 2: Yeah, And that's fine, that's cool if you can do that.
- 1:44:25Speaker 2: Good grief. I want to do school time, so love that.
- 1:44:34Speaker 4: But college is not for everybody, and I'm not going
- 1:44:38Speaker 4: to get on that soapbox. College is not the path
- 1:44:43Speaker 4: for everybody. We need to go back to having auto body,
- 1:44:50Speaker 4: woodworking trades. I remember when I was in high school,
- 1:44:54Speaker 4: I worked half a day. We had cosmontology people. Not
- 1:44:58Speaker 4: everybody is to go to college.
- 1:45:02Speaker 2: Just my two cents, I'll just I'll sum it up.
- 1:45:07Speaker 2: I did the whole college, thing, masters, et cetera. There's
- 1:45:11Speaker 2: somebody that I knew that went high school I think
- 1:45:15Speaker 2: associates and then went into plumbing, and I can guarantee
- 1:45:19Speaker 2: you they are making ten times more than I am.
- 1:45:23Speaker 2: I can guarantee it. So there is nothing wrong with
- 1:45:31Speaker 2: being a plumber. In fact, thank you for doing it,
- 1:45:34Speaker 2: because I can't. So, you know, so many people the more.
- 1:45:42Speaker 4: So many people put that if you don't do it.
- 1:45:46Speaker 4: I mean, I'm an HR talent acquisition for thirty years
- 1:45:50Speaker 4: and so many times, Oh they've got twenty years experience,
- 1:45:53Speaker 4: but they don't have a master's degree. Nope, they're smarter
- 1:45:57Speaker 4: than you. They can do the job. Yeah, but they
- 1:46:00Speaker 4: didn't care enough about their career to get a master's degree. No,
- 1:46:05Speaker 4: because they were working.
- 1:46:09Speaker 2: I can tell you right now, doesn't help. It's not help.
- 1:46:14Speaker 4: It doesn't.
- 1:46:15Speaker 2: So I'm not saying don't do it. Listen. I mean,
- 1:46:19Speaker 2: I was a professor in a classroom, I taught, I
- 1:46:22Speaker 2: was a program director. Like I believe in education, I
- 1:46:24Speaker 2: believe in lifelong learning. However it is for some people
- 1:46:29Speaker 2: and not for others. And to tell people the false
- 1:46:32Speaker 2: narrative of if you don't go, you can't succeed is
- 1:46:36Speaker 2: not doing anybody a service. That's like, that's I to me, No,
- 1:46:45Speaker 2: I'm not going to make that association because that's not
- 1:46:47Speaker 2: the same equivalent at all. I'm trying to find.
- 1:46:52Speaker 4: That's people saying the more the more people that are
- 1:46:56Speaker 4: academia that the more degrees you have, the better of
- 1:47:00Speaker 4: a person you are, even if you don't make as
- 1:47:02Speaker 4: much money. So it's a different type of keeping up
- 1:47:10Speaker 4: with the Jones.
- 1:47:10Speaker 2: Is yes, and I'll even go I'll go this route.
- 1:47:15Speaker 2: And I said, don't talk about religion, and so don't
- 1:47:18Speaker 2: do it. I just do as I say, not as
- 1:47:19Speaker 2: I do. It's like being told that in order to
- 1:47:23Speaker 2: be a good person you have to go to confession.
- 1:47:28Speaker 2: But why, I mean, just kill.
- 1:47:31Speaker 4: Somebody on Friday and go to confession on Sunday and
- 1:47:33Speaker 4: you're a good person. Right.
- 1:47:35Speaker 2: It's worked for superheroes, it worked for Daredevil. I just
- 1:47:41Speaker 2: like that. It just blows my mind because like if somebody,
- 1:47:45Speaker 2: if an entity is around you at all times, like,
- 1:47:49Speaker 2: why not just talk to the entity? Why do you
- 1:47:50Speaker 2: have to go through a conduit?
- 1:47:52Speaker 4: Now, I will say I want my surgeon to go
- 1:47:56Speaker 4: to college. I want my surgeon to do a residence. See,
- 1:48:01Speaker 4: I want my surgeon to do all of those things.
- 1:48:04Speaker 4: That doesn't mean everybody needs to go to that extent.
- 1:48:10Speaker 4: They're not it just but people. I mean in my
- 1:48:15Speaker 4: world hiring salespeople, they're like, yeah, but they don't have
- 1:48:19Speaker 4: a bachelor's degree. They're a salesperson. They can hit their quota,
- 1:48:25Speaker 4: they can do better than anybody you got on their
- 1:48:27Speaker 4: team that has a degree. Why are you asking?
- 1:48:32Speaker 2: I mean, if somebody goes to college or they get
- 1:48:36Speaker 2: their associates, they've gone from two to four years. If
- 1:48:38Speaker 2: you go to college, you take a year, you go
- 1:48:40Speaker 2: to grad school, they've already got between four and two
- 1:48:44Speaker 2: to four years on you in the profession world exactly.
- 1:48:48Speaker 4: So would you rather have real life experience now or
- 1:48:53Speaker 4: sitting in a classroom learning how to drink on the
- 1:48:56Speaker 4: weekend and skip classes, read a book and pass a test.
- 1:49:02Speaker 4: Let's be honest. You study the book, you study the material,
- 1:49:05Speaker 4: you pass the test. Did you really learn it? No,
- 1:49:10Speaker 4: you took a test.
- 1:49:13Speaker 2: I'm going to get no. No, no, you're right, And
- 1:49:17Speaker 2: and and now bachelor's degrees are now high school degrees
- 1:49:23Speaker 2: and master's degrees or bachelor degrees and PhDs are Master's like,
- 1:49:27Speaker 2: you've you've you've saturated the market, and now that you've
- 1:49:31Speaker 2: saturated the market, you don't have to pay people as
- 1:49:34Speaker 2: much as the degrees are worth because there's a ton
- 1:49:35Speaker 2: of you. I'll just hire somebody else. So tell me
- 1:49:38Speaker 2: that's not in the old noggat of folks that push
- 1:49:41Speaker 2: that narrative.
- 1:49:42Speaker 4: So yeah, that was one of the reasons that I
- 1:49:46Speaker 4: liked that show suits because Mike was a better attorney
- 1:49:53Speaker 4: than all of them fools that sat through college and
- 1:49:57Speaker 4: law school.
- 1:50:01Speaker 2: That's why I liked psych The Sean was a better
- 1:50:04Speaker 2: cop than I mean, let's be honest, closed cases.
- 1:50:12Speaker 4: Yeah, But I mean in my line of work, I
- 1:50:18Speaker 4: really ask people. I mean I really look at hiring
- 1:50:20Speaker 4: managers and I'm like, does that help them do their job? Really?
- 1:50:27Speaker 4: What does that piece of paper do for them besides
- 1:50:31Speaker 4: get them a lot of debt and it doesn't parlay
- 1:50:34Speaker 4: into them being able to do their job. Jasper's coming in.
- 1:50:40Speaker 2: If that's okay.
- 1:50:43Speaker 4: What I just got asked that it was okay if
- 1:50:45Speaker 4: Jasper came in.
- 1:50:48Speaker 2: Oh well, I think everybody would agree that it's okay.
- 1:50:51Speaker 4: Okay, you talk, he'll come in. I'll press mute.
- 1:50:54Speaker 2: Okay, I don't know everybody. I think it's it's interesting.
- 1:51:02Speaker 2: It's really hard because no matter which way you go
- 1:51:05Speaker 2: on either other side of the scale, right is is
- 1:51:12Speaker 2: you're going to like I feel like no matter which
- 1:51:14Speaker 2: way I go on this topic, I am going to
- 1:51:16Speaker 2: alienate some population of people. But I think it's important
- 1:51:19Speaker 2: to know that I went through school. I don't regret it.
- 1:51:22Speaker 2: I had a great time. I learned a ton. What
- 1:51:25Speaker 2: I'm saying is it's not for everybody, and it shouldn't
- 1:51:27Speaker 2: be to the point in which we are having people
- 1:51:30Speaker 2: pay half a million dollars to secure their kids a
- 1:51:33Speaker 2: place in college, taking from somebody else when they didn't
- 1:51:36Speaker 2: want to be there in the first place. Also, I'm
- 1:51:38Speaker 2: glad you were asked if he can come in.
- 1:51:43Speaker 4: As he there my granddaughter. I paid my granddaughter to
- 1:51:47Speaker 4: babysit him tonight.
- 1:51:50Speaker 2: That's so nice of you.
- 1:51:53Speaker 4: Did you see I posted and you were easy in college?
- 1:51:57Speaker 2: Well, you know, what's the point in putting hurdles up?
- 1:52:04Speaker 2: I guess is what I'm saying. Oh, Jasper, he.
- 1:52:17Speaker 4: Knows I got trail mix down there, go get it.
- 1:52:22Speaker 4: He loves Costco trail mix.
- 1:52:25Speaker 2: Oh so do I.
- 1:52:30Speaker 4: I'm gonna attempt this.
- 1:52:33Speaker 2: We go the little.
- 1:52:37Speaker 4: It is It is a little crag.
- 1:52:40Speaker 2: Who was the bottle?
- 1:52:45Speaker 4: I didn't see who it was.
- 1:52:47Speaker 2: He was long and close to the ground.
- 1:52:50Speaker 4: Oh that's the bassot down. That's mother Lass, that's Bibby's. Yeah,
- 1:52:57Speaker 4: there's Jasper.
- 1:52:57Speaker 2: Can you bring the good Jasper? It's not good enough.
- 1:53:07Speaker 2: Let me go, please, We'll close out the show on
- 1:53:11Speaker 2: basset hound and Jasper? Could you think of a better
- 1:53:14Speaker 2: way to do that? I cannot. I was done with
- 1:53:16Speaker 2: my case. It doesn't matter anymore. This is free game
- 1:53:19Speaker 2: in it free falling, and I'm free. I've always wanted
- 1:53:32Speaker 2: a basset hound like they had in Uh what was
- 1:53:36Speaker 2: the darn it? What was the mouse? The great mouse Detective?
- 1:53:41Speaker 2: Because that's what he rode. Oh my gosh, I can't
- 1:53:45Speaker 2: imagine things. Oh no, oh, poppies, she is a banker. Yeah,
- 1:53:57Speaker 2: I was just saying, I can't imagine trying to lift
- 1:53:59Speaker 2: a basset hound. Do you like need have like all
- 1:54:01Speaker 2: the ship, all the the big girl. There she got
- 1:54:06Speaker 2: a big girl, we got we got love. Oh she's
- 1:54:12Speaker 2: a Listen. There's something about basset hounds and docks AND's
- 1:54:15Speaker 2: that they defy gravity with their body you know what,
- 1:54:23Speaker 2: we need a T shirt that has pound notes that
- 1:54:27Speaker 2: emoji's on either side.
- 1:54:31Speaker 4: She weighs more than my German shepherd.
- 1:54:36Speaker 2: Is she like what fifty fifty five.
- 1:54:39Speaker 4: Seventy seventy pounds? She's almost seventy.
- 1:54:44Speaker 2: She weighs more than Elton for her though, you know what,
- 1:54:49Speaker 2: You get up and go girl, you live your life.
- 1:54:52Speaker 4: Oh and she's twelve.
- 1:54:56Speaker 2: Oh for her, dude, seriously, well done on her part
- 1:55:02Speaker 2: because Bassett hound's that's that's a that's a long span.
- 1:55:07Speaker 2: That's really good for her.
- 1:55:09Speaker 4: Well, I will tell you when we put her in
- 1:55:11Speaker 4: the pool last summer, we were shocked. She swims better
- 1:55:18Speaker 4: than the kata hula or the German shepherd mix. She
- 1:55:24Speaker 4: can swim those big old those big old paws. She
- 1:55:29Speaker 4: could get it in the ears.
- 1:55:32Speaker 2: Okay, So idea for a YouTube short Jasper and in
- 1:55:39Speaker 2: the pool. Oh, I'm just saying.
- 1:55:44Speaker 4: I got tons of video of Jasper, so I can

- 1:56:21Speaker 2: And and yeah that guy too, ugh I was I
- 1:56:33Speaker 2: was a cigarette offe sounding like Krusty the Clown. All right,
- 1:56:37Speaker 2: I think we should end on the dog and the goat.
- 1:56:40Speaker 2: What do you think?
- 1:56:44Speaker 4: I am just sitting here laughing because Jasper is picking
- 1:56:51Speaker 4: out I tried to see if he liked goldfish. The
- 1:56:55Speaker 4: little goldfish crackers is picking the goldfish crackers out and
- 1:57:00Speaker 4: throwing them out of the cage. And the cage is
- 1:57:03Speaker 4: a lot, but he's throwing them out of the cage.
- 1:57:05Speaker 4: He's like, I don't want this.
- 1:57:07Speaker 2: I don't want this. Also, I just want to say
- 1:57:12Speaker 2: we've come semi circle. Sam closed it out for us.
- 1:57:16Speaker 2: We can't get any better than that. You got a
