- 1:25Speaker 2: four three, and it's Tuesday. It's my regular Tuesday night,
- 1:31Speaker 2: and I am here with you to bring you another author.
- 1:35Speaker 3: And another book.
- 1:37Speaker 4: But y'all, this book.
- 1:41Speaker 3: His rented family.
- 1:44Speaker 4: That book is unpredico bot.
- 1:49Speaker 3: Okay, the author.
- 1:51Speaker 2: Every time I feel that, every time I felt that
- 1:57Speaker 2: the author was going to go one way, she turned
- 2:00Speaker 2: around and took me back around the corner and made
- 2:02Speaker 2: me go up another street. Like seriously, So I'm going
- 2:09Speaker 2: to bring up author Black Queen and we're gonna talk
- 2:13Speaker 2: about her journey of being an author and her book
- 2:17Speaker 2: his rented family.
- 2:19Speaker 5: Come on up, girly, come on up, name this man.
- 2:32Speaker 4: I get hear you.
- 2:33Speaker 3: Hold on one quick moment. We're going to get you
- 2:36Speaker 3: up here.
- 2:41Speaker 4: There we go. Hi, okay, Hi now I'm live. Okay,
- 2:48Speaker 4: here you go. How are you? I am great?
- 2:52Speaker 3: How are you?
- 2:55Speaker 4: I'm well? Thank you. Thanks for having me tonight. I
- 2:57Speaker 4: appreciate y'all. I'm just saying, I'm in the hot seat.
- 3:01Speaker 4: Oh lord, yes, you're gonna be in the hot seat
- 3:05Speaker 4: for this book right here. Because this book I can
- 3:09Speaker 4: see I'm in the hot seat. Oh my lord, I
- 3:12Speaker 4: can just imagine Exodus, little cute little self. Oh my god,
- 3:18Speaker 4: a little baby b in the book. Before the book
- 3:24Speaker 4: we're going to acts, author Black Queen, tell us a
- 3:29Speaker 4: little bit about yourself. Oh, I started writing in twenty eighteen.
- 3:39Speaker 4: I'm a multi genre writer. I don't stick to one genre.
- 3:42Speaker 4: I write different genres. I just I just go with
- 3:47Speaker 4: the flow. Whatever comes out of my head is when
- 3:49Speaker 4: I put on paper. Sometimes I don't even know what
- 3:52Speaker 4: the genre is. I have to look it up. Oh
- 3:56Speaker 4: I like that.
- 3:57Speaker 3: I like what I put theirself in a box.
- 3:59Speaker 4: That's beautiful. What else can you tell us about yourself?
- 4:05Speaker 4: I love writing. I love writing books with people of
- 4:08Speaker 4: color in it. All of my books feature us, or
- 4:12Speaker 4: you know, a background of us. I feel like there's
- 4:18Speaker 4: enough writing in the world that do not feature us.
- 4:20Speaker 4: So when I went into fantasy and romance and different things,
- 4:25Speaker 4: and I wanted to profile the beauty within the black culture.
- 4:29Speaker 4: So that's my main thing. As long as you know
- 4:33Speaker 4: the book is around us, bore us by us, I'm
- 4:36Speaker 4: okay with it. So all my books, no matter what
- 4:40Speaker 4: world is on, no matter what dimensional realm it's in,
- 4:44Speaker 4: it's always featuring us.
- 4:47Speaker 3: As a reader.
- 4:49Speaker 2: I so appreciate you for doing that. That is the
- 4:55Speaker 2: one of the main reasons why I do what I
- 4:58Speaker 2: do is because we do not get the recognition when
- 5:04Speaker 2: it comes to literature.
- 5:07Speaker 4: Yes we read our hood novels. Yes, just like y'all
- 5:10Speaker 4: read y'all Armistad and your Little Little Lady on the
- 5:14Speaker 4: Prairie and stuff like that. That's just what we read.
- 5:17Speaker 4: And I appreciate all this, like you pushing off these
- 5:20Speaker 4: books to be like, all right, we can do it too.
- 5:23Speaker 3: You know.
- 5:24Speaker 4: I always say that one day I might be interviewing
- 5:27Speaker 4: the next Black Jans Patterson or the next Black pat Conroy.
- 5:33Speaker 4: You know, we have our Tony Morrison's, but we need
- 5:37Speaker 4: one of this error. You know.
- 5:41Speaker 3: I appreciate that.
- 5:41Speaker 4: And we know which one of us is gonna be,
- 5:44Speaker 4: don't know, you never know.
- 5:46Speaker 3: And I want to be there for the ride, just
- 5:50Speaker 3: like this book taking me for the ride.
- 6:00Speaker 4: Rented family, his rented family. It is exactly what his said, rented.
- 6:11Speaker 4: Come up with this concept. I was always thinking, like,
- 6:19Speaker 4: you know, after I started thinking like what if you know,
- 6:21Speaker 4: there was an executive where he you know, he had
- 6:26Speaker 4: everything he wanted except the family, and the family was
- 6:29Speaker 4: contingent on him. Promoting or him getting more money. You know,
- 6:33Speaker 4: what would he do to get that money? How far
- 6:36Speaker 4: would he go? And so that's when I came up
- 6:39Speaker 4: with the concept his rented family. And so he rented
- 6:43Speaker 4: a family essentially to make more money. That was the
- 6:48Speaker 4: original thing. Like he wanted, you know, to be at
- 6:51Speaker 4: the top, and he knew, you know, it was frowned upon,
- 6:54Speaker 4: you know that he didn't have a family, and so
- 6:57Speaker 4: he was not going to let that stop him from
- 6:59Speaker 4: making his money. So he did what he had to
- 7:03Speaker 4: do to get the money, and he run in the family.
- 7:07Speaker 4: And if you hadn't read the book, you would have
- 7:09Speaker 4: thought the family was his, especially when I don't want
- 7:14Speaker 4: to give away the book. But then a little bits
- 7:15Speaker 4: and pieces, I'm gonna tell you guys, I'm not going
- 7:17Speaker 4: to give up the last four chapters. I'm not telling
- 7:22Speaker 4: y'all about I'm not. All I know is some people
- 7:26Speaker 4: got kicked in the behind, and behind is not the
- 7:28Speaker 4: word I want to use. Something nasty.
- 7:36Speaker 3: Let's put it like this, it's I can't.
- 7:42Speaker 4: That's why I don't like to read the book.
- 7:43Speaker 2: And the book is so good, because I just want
- 7:45Speaker 2: to give it away.
- 7:47Speaker 3: And that's the bad thing.
- 7:48Speaker 4: About me.
- 7:49Speaker 3: But let's break it down.
- 7:50Speaker 2: Let's go about these characters.
- 7:53Speaker 4: Harper, Harper, Harp. Why did you give Harper the mindset
- 8:05Speaker 4: of to me the perfect businessman?
- 8:13Speaker 3: Why can't he have a little flaw?
- 8:15Speaker 4: I couldn't see anything wrong with him.
- 8:21Speaker 3: Or maybe I wanted him to day.
- 8:25Speaker 4: Harper got flaws. He just Harper has a lot of
- 8:28Speaker 4: flaws that I was exposed in the book. Actually he
- 8:32Speaker 4: has a few.
- 8:33Speaker 3: See y'all tell red flags.
- 8:38Speaker 4: I'm sorry, what was your question? What? What? What was
- 8:40Speaker 4: it about him? Yes?
- 8:42Speaker 3: What is it about this man?
- 8:45Speaker 4: Just?
- 8:48Speaker 2: Yes, just just tell us a little bit about him.
- 8:51Speaker 2: I don't want to give it away, But my favorite.
- 8:53Speaker 4: Carricter, I think that I think I think that's your
- 8:55Speaker 4: book boyfriend. I what, maybe you got a new book boyfriend.
- 9:03Speaker 4: Oh he rich to y'all, and he's it's hard for
- 9:09Speaker 4: your boyfriend. Is hard for your book boyfriend?
- 9:12Speaker 2: Harper has to be because I didn't pay attention to
- 9:15Speaker 2: any other RICO pay attention to.
- 9:19Speaker 5: What townshend?
- 9:20Speaker 3: I didn't pay attention to him, rest of him.
- 9:21Speaker 4: Every time I saw the name Harper said, Yeah, so
- 9:26Speaker 4: Harper is Harper. Harper is a man who you know,
- 9:31Speaker 4: essentially was raised that we find out, you know, he's
- 9:35Speaker 4: a second generation on his father's side, he's a second
- 9:40Speaker 4: generation silver spooner. On his mother's side, he is a
- 9:47Speaker 4: first generation rich kid. And his mother, his father came
- 9:53Speaker 4: from wealth where his mother did not. And his parents
- 9:57Speaker 4: met in a black college and they fell in love
- 10:02Speaker 4: and they got married, and so they were from two
- 10:06Speaker 4: different sides of the track, and he is Harper is
- 10:10Speaker 4: a part of both worlds. He is. His mother was
- 10:14Speaker 4: raised in Compton, California, which as we know, is a
- 10:17Speaker 4: very rough neighborhood, and his father was raised in Baldwin Hills,
- 10:21Speaker 4: which is a very rich, you know, part of California
- 10:24Speaker 4: for black people. When Harper was fourteen years old, his
- 10:28Speaker 4: parents like basically scraped every dome they had together and
- 10:31Speaker 4: they bought a property in Calabasas, California. And that is
- 10:37Speaker 4: where well he was when he was about five or
- 10:40Speaker 4: six actually, and that is where Harper was raised. But Harper,
- 10:46Speaker 4: because of his mother's side of his family, was raised
- 10:49Speaker 4: to be a tough kid. You know, they didn't want
- 10:51Speaker 4: their cousin to be around them, and he couldn't protect himself.
- 10:54Speaker 4: And you know, when he's spending time with them, in
- 10:56Speaker 4: the summer. He was just like crying kid because he
- 10:59Speaker 4: didn't notice and he didn't know how to handle himself.
- 11:04Speaker 4: And then his father was very much into education and
- 11:07Speaker 4: making sure that he, you know, got his education and
- 11:11Speaker 4: that he got to where he, you know, he is today.
- 11:16Speaker 4: Harper's parents were killed in a car accident when he
- 11:20Speaker 4: was fourteen. After that, he went to live with his grandfather,
- 11:24Speaker 4: who put him basically in a boarding school and he
- 11:29Speaker 4: stayed there until he graduated, and then he went straight
- 11:32Speaker 4: to college. So and where most kids have that home
- 11:38Speaker 4: life between the ages of you know, little to eighteen,
- 11:42Speaker 4: it was cut down from him at the age of
- 11:44Speaker 4: fourteen and he basically self raised himself in fourteen.
- 11:48Speaker 2: Up right, And you guys will see how his his
- 11:56Speaker 2: growing up affected the relationship that he had had a
- 12:01Speaker 2: character in the book, and that was very played, very
- 12:05Speaker 2: close attention to that and it was just so loving
- 12:08Speaker 2: how he placed himself in that particular role in that
- 12:14Speaker 2: person's life with no problems, no issues.
- 12:20Speaker 4: All right, Miss Candy Candy tell us a little king.
- 12:28Speaker 4: I call it Candy.
- 12:29Speaker 2: Her real name is her name is Candle, but I
- 12:31Speaker 2: call it Candy because her and Harper together, it was
- 12:36Speaker 2: so it was so easy how he became sweet on
- 12:40Speaker 2: her him and he became sweet on her.
- 12:43Speaker 4: I didn't see it happening first. I thought it was
- 12:46Speaker 4: stated was it was. Yeah. So the Harper and Candle
- 12:54Speaker 4: are a remake of if you look at it, they're
- 12:57Speaker 4: a rendition of his parents. Here comes the boy with
- 13:01Speaker 4: the money and the girl that comes from nothing, just
- 13:05Speaker 4: like his father came from money and his mother came
- 13:08Speaker 4: from nothing. So although his mother's life was chopped down
- 13:15Speaker 4: at an early age for him, he had enough exposure
- 13:19Speaker 4: to his mother. He did not Harper was not raised
- 13:21Speaker 4: with nanny's. He were not raised with help because remember
- 13:25Speaker 4: his mother, Imani, was from Compton, and in Compton you
- 13:28Speaker 4: raise your own kids, and so he was constantly with
- 13:31Speaker 4: his mother nanny's. The money didn't phase her. She raised
- 13:35Speaker 4: her own child and so she had a very big
- 13:39Speaker 4: impact on him. And when she died, Harper wanted a
- 13:44Speaker 4: woman like his mother in more ways than one. He
- 13:49Speaker 4: had a lot of failed relationships, as we saw in
- 13:51Speaker 4: the book. But when Candle walked into his life with
- 13:55Speaker 4: this kid, he found out that he wanted something not
- 14:00Speaker 4: not wanted needed something that he lost, which was the
- 14:05Speaker 4: love of family. And he was going to keep that
- 14:10Speaker 4: at whatever cost and at whatever cost you guys. So
- 14:19Speaker 4: now we got some other subplayers in the game, and
- 14:22Speaker 4: I think my favorite subplayer was Maria. Maria was like
- 14:27Speaker 4: mm hmm to me, that mother figure for handle why
- 14:34Speaker 4: she was.
- 14:34Speaker 2: In this situationship. Out of your sub characters, which one
- 14:41Speaker 2: was your favorite?
- 14:42Speaker 4: Why? Out of the sub characters? Yes, Row? Why? Row?
- 14:56Speaker 4: Because Roe made the book. He it was the one
- 15:00Speaker 4: you loved to hate. And then when you look at it,
- 15:05Speaker 4: when you look at Roe, when you break Row down,
- 15:08Speaker 4: Rowe did all he did in the name of love.
- 15:13Speaker 4: Surely did. He did everything in the name of love.
- 15:18Speaker 4: It just came out wrong. He didn't mean to hurt Harper.
- 15:22Speaker 4: It was an accident. His original intent is what we discussed.
- 15:25Speaker 4: I don't say it in the book. You know that
- 15:27Speaker 4: was his original head. But that's not what happened. He
- 15:35Speaker 4: had his own idea. He had his own idea. But
- 15:38Speaker 4: then at the end he was like, you know what,
- 15:39Speaker 4: you ain't gonna play ball with me. I'm gonna do
- 15:42Speaker 4: what I gotta do to get ahead. And that's what happened.
- 15:44Speaker 4: You're not gonna leave me behind. But he didn't realize
- 15:47Speaker 4: that Harper had his mother in him, and he wasn't
- 15:50Speaker 4: the one to play with. He wasn't like Valiant, like
- 15:53Speaker 4: Harper's father. Harper's father was a businessman. He wasn't from
- 15:56Speaker 4: the streets. He didn't know how to sit down hollow,
- 15:59Speaker 4: he didn't know. He wasn't like Rowan Thompson. He didn't
- 16:02Speaker 4: he was in Jackson. He wasn't from the streets. He
- 16:05Speaker 4: was raised with a sob spoon. So when the street
- 16:07Speaker 4: stepped to him, he didn't know how to step to
- 16:09Speaker 4: the street and how to so he thought right, So
- 16:14Speaker 4: Jack Rowe started fucking around with Harper and thought that
- 16:18Speaker 4: he was gonna run into harp Valliant Senior. But he
- 16:22Speaker 4: realized real quick that Harper's mother trained him. Yeah, your
- 16:26Speaker 4: father could teach you the books, but I'm about to
- 16:28Speaker 4: teach you the streets. And you're gonna raise your hands.
- 16:31Speaker 4: So anybody ever come at you, you not gonna back down,
- 16:34Speaker 4: and you're not gonna be scared. So when Roe stepped
- 16:36Speaker 4: the Harper, he realized real quick and fast, we ain't
- 16:41Speaker 4: dealing with the Valiant senior here, No, not, you know
- 16:45Speaker 4: what I mean. And and Rico realized that too when
- 16:48Speaker 4: he wanted to grab one candle.
- 16:50Speaker 3: Yes, why why you doing?
- 16:54Speaker 2: And in this in this book, I felt that Harper
- 16:57Speaker 2: was playing checkers and chess. I felt like Harper was
- 17:02Speaker 2: playing both games, like I'm gonna be small on this head,
- 17:06Speaker 2: but I got you in this too.
- 17:08Speaker 3: He ain't had to ride up. You can't candle like that, and.
- 17:12Speaker 4: Then I'll tell me that you're drunk. You thought you
- 17:14Speaker 4: were gonna win that, man, you really thought you were
- 17:17Speaker 4: gonna and then look at it to Patrice. He he
- 17:21Speaker 4: he wanted him twice on of course, still he said,
- 17:24Speaker 4: don't talk about my wife like.
- 17:25Speaker 3: That, talk about my wife because he called what he
- 17:28Speaker 3: was you know.
- 17:32Speaker 4: That, Yeah, yes he did. He warned them twice. So
- 17:37Speaker 4: this time you must didn't take key to what he
- 17:39Speaker 4: was saying. So he now had to show you. So,
- 17:45Speaker 4: y'all we talk about these characters, y'all are doing a little.
- 17:47Speaker 2: We're not gonna give y'all all the back side, but
- 17:50Speaker 2: I'm gonna bring up my find questions. So I didn't
- 17:52Speaker 2: send you my fun questions when I sent you.
- 17:57Speaker 4: And I'm very happy he who hits me hit me.
- 18:01Speaker 4: All right, here we go. If you can get any
- 18:07Speaker 4: actor to play Harper who would it be and why?
- 18:16Speaker 4: And you know I forgot his name. He was just
- 18:20Speaker 4: in a movie on t B called t KO and
- 18:24Speaker 4: apparently he was once a Disney kid. He was in
- 18:28Speaker 4: a movie called t k Oh on two B. I
- 18:31Speaker 4: would get him to play Harper Valiant.
- 18:34Speaker 3: All right, Disney kidd.
- 18:36Speaker 4: No, no, no, just look up t k oh to
- 18:39Speaker 4: B movie caste. If if I do a girl, we're
- 18:44Speaker 4: gonna get cut off. And he always on my shoe.
- 18:48Speaker 4: I got my phone next to me, and I need
- 18:49Speaker 4: to figure out who this is. Okay, we are looking
- 18:55Speaker 4: for the everybody knows his name. Everybody knows his name
- 18:58Speaker 4: though he's a pop. It's a popular guy, all right.
- 19:02Speaker 3: So Richard Robert Richard the Lights.
- 19:09Speaker 4: But yeah, he was in All All.
- 19:14Speaker 3: For one, All one on one, one on one.
- 19:18Speaker 4: That's that's where he started. Okay, right, I would pick
- 19:22Speaker 4: him to play Hard Valley because he has the look
- 19:25Speaker 4: and he has the attitude. He can get away with that.
- 19:28Speaker 4: He can he can seeking code switch from business the
- 19:30Speaker 4: street real quick. And you know what he played in
- 19:34Speaker 4: the movie.
- 19:36Speaker 2: As he was a businessman and he was getting back
- 19:40Speaker 2: at people.
- 19:41Speaker 3: It was just on.
- 19:45Speaker 4: Uh b e t mm hmmm.
- 19:48Speaker 3: And it was like a Hunger Games type movie.
- 19:52Speaker 4: Oh, okay, you guys, let me know what about it
- 19:54Speaker 4: so I can look it up. Yeah, I'm but I
- 19:57Speaker 4: would say I would say him if you didn't see
- 19:59Speaker 4: t k o on to be, He's on there. When
- 20:03Speaker 4: I saw it immediately, I thought he would make an
- 20:04Speaker 4: excellent Harper Harper Valiant. Okay, let's your favorite character, Rico?
- 20:12Speaker 4: Who would play Rico? No, my favorite character is Roe Ro.
- 20:17Speaker 4: I'm sorry, Ro who would play Row? So? For Row
- 20:21Speaker 4: we need an older man, right, we need somebody who
- 20:25Speaker 4: is votus to play Roll, And I would pick for Row,
- 20:34Speaker 4: I would probably pick what's the gentleman's name that played
- 20:39Speaker 4: I would do you know that the guy that played
- 20:41Speaker 4: the green Leaf? He was the pastor for Greenleaf.
- 20:45Speaker 3: I know who you talk about?
- 20:48Speaker 2: You say green Leaf? I was thinking by old dude
- 20:52Speaker 2: from Baby Boy.
- 20:55Speaker 4: Oh you're talking about No, you have you seen ving
- 20:58Speaker 4: Greens lately?
- 21:00Speaker 3: Oh? No, I ain't seem Lady is bad, so.
- 21:06Speaker 4: I would I would. I would think those are probably
- 21:08Speaker 4: the same age, So I would probably think those two. Oh,
- 21:11Speaker 4: I'm thinking more on the lines of like del Rayland though,
- 21:15Speaker 4: or Yeah from Crooklyn Roland though, playkly you talk about
- 21:23Speaker 4: so I'm looking at Green or or or or I'm
- 21:26Speaker 4: thinking for Row honestly, probably for Row to be honest.
- 21:31Speaker 4: Who could get away with it and play the role
- 21:32Speaker 4: really good? Blair Underwood, Yo, you hit that Blair Underwear.
- 21:42Speaker 4: Blair Underwood is underrated and he can play a villain
- 21:45Speaker 4: and make you hate the fucking ground he walk on.
- 21:47Speaker 4: You were like, this one right here will punch him
- 21:49Speaker 4: in his stomach when I see him. And that's what
- 21:51Speaker 4: we need. We need somebody wicked, downright nasty who don't
- 21:56Speaker 4: care about nothing but money. Blair Underwood remind seeing him
- 22:00Speaker 4: when he played in the Medea movie. Yes, girl, I
- 22:04Speaker 4: was like, that's it. I was like, that's my boys,
- 22:09Speaker 4: always gonna be my boy. Blair Underwood. You did that,
- 22:12Speaker 4: he could, he could pull it off. He would be
- 22:14Speaker 4: an excellent road. Now think about the Row in the
- 22:17Speaker 4: book and how he was acting. Wouldn't he be a
- 22:19Speaker 4: good route?
- 22:20Speaker 3: Yes? Yes, yeah, oh, especially in the right.
- 22:27Speaker 4: Right. Let me find out you got a screen please
- 22:30Speaker 4: some way written around with your characters. Let me sign out, girl.
- 22:35Speaker 4: I had already spokes to Brianna call you know, she
- 22:38Speaker 4: already wrote the vampire up rods and scrap. She was
- 22:40Speaker 4: trying to get me not to like not teaching. She
- 22:43Speaker 4: know I wanted that, but she was like trying to
- 22:45Speaker 4: give me to do scripts like this, like smaller books.
- 22:47Speaker 4: You know, it would be easier to sell. You know,
- 22:49Speaker 4: she always gives you her counsel, her wives counsel before
- 22:53Speaker 4: you move forward, so you know, yeah, she she tried
- 22:57Speaker 4: to like, let me know, like you know, trotting, the
- 22:59Speaker 4: next time you come back, do a book like this.
- 23:01Speaker 4: It's easy to sell, it's easy to get rid of,
- 23:04Speaker 4: you know, stuff like that. But I was dead set
- 23:06Speaker 4: on the uprising at the time, and you know, and
- 23:08Speaker 4: I'm still good with that. But these little book I
- 23:10Speaker 4: had told her about his running family. She knew about it. Yep,
- 23:13Speaker 4: she said it sound good. You know, I'm not sure
- 23:15Speaker 4: she read it.
- 23:15Speaker 2: But mm hm, this would make a great lifetime. I
- 23:20Speaker 2: could see just being a great lifetime. Like literally, y'all
- 23:25Speaker 2: know how the white.
- 23:26Speaker 4: People be killing each other in the lifetime. I'm like, God,
- 23:29Speaker 4: my daughter, lucky, this is a lot. This is a
- 23:32Speaker 4: black version of lifetime. A girl, my daughter was like
- 23:35Speaker 4: this movie. My daughter is like, it's very funny, and
- 23:38Speaker 4: my daughters a funny person. So my daughter he she
- 23:41Speaker 4: prompted me to start writing after she wrote her first
- 23:43Speaker 4: book at sixteen, at fourteen actually, and it's on what
- 23:47Speaker 4: patt and it's got like one million readers on it,
- 23:49Speaker 4: but for some reason she refuses to publicize it. But
- 23:53Speaker 4: she made me like start writing books, you know. And
- 23:57Speaker 4: her thing was like she does not want to see
- 23:59Speaker 4: any of my books as to be movies. She was like, no,
- 24:02Speaker 4: I don't know why. But my daughter was like, all
- 24:05Speaker 4: these books are going on stars were going on major
- 24:06Speaker 4: channel stars. Hbo I said, you know what, speaking into insistence,
- 24:10Speaker 4: but I'm not opposed to be but not not my daughter.
- 24:14Speaker 4: My daughter's like, no, these are not.
- 24:16Speaker 3: To think big, Mama, think big.
- 24:21Speaker 4: You know.
- 24:21Speaker 3: We gotta see the ladies.
- 24:23Speaker 4: Okay, one lady, we didn't tell they they was a mess?
- 24:27Speaker 4: Was they a mess? Girl?
- 24:29Speaker 3: That's Sasha?
- 24:31Speaker 2: Who I can't you're in the back alley.
- 24:32Speaker 4: You know any female rap artists to play Sasha?
- 24:42Speaker 3: Who wouldn't be?
- 24:43Speaker 4: And why Nicki Minaj I was thinking that because because
- 24:53Speaker 4: Nicki Minaj got that. She's a sweetheart probably in real life,
- 24:56Speaker 4: but she probably just like you know, that's her persona
- 24:58Speaker 4: for the for the people. Out here. But she could
- 25:01Speaker 4: be a nasty bitch if she wanted to be. You
- 25:02Speaker 4: could just talk like, don't comfort up. She didn't call
- 25:05Speaker 4: for you, Yeah she wanted. I got that vibeisicated, but
- 25:11Speaker 4: I'm still hood, but my hood will riseation, right, I
- 25:16Speaker 4: rosed an occasion if I have to like, yeah, don't
- 25:19Speaker 4: mess what don't comfort me? If I and call for
- 25:20Speaker 4: you Nicki Mina definitely, but you can tell she always
- 25:23Speaker 4: in the back manipulating a stop to say that Sasha.
- 25:32Speaker 3: Oh my gosh.
- 25:35Speaker 4: Every time I saw her name and I knew something
- 25:38Speaker 4: was about to go on, the reader was like, I
- 25:41Speaker 4: hate that b I t H. I'm like, oh my god. Yeah, and.
- 25:48Speaker 2: So would have the pleasure of plane Candle card E
- 25:54Speaker 2: b I because remember Candle is Puerto Rican. Yes, but
- 26:06Speaker 2: she got that hud that she could turn off too.
- 26:09Speaker 4: So I'm envisioned the Carli Cardi b off the love
- 26:14Speaker 4: and hip hop before she became famous, when she was
- 26:19Speaker 4: the over the top character. Okay, I can see that. Okay,
- 26:25Speaker 4: I mean I would because we gotta remember if you're
- 26:27Speaker 4: gonna make remember her and and and my Nicki Minaj
- 26:31Speaker 4: don't get along anyway, so we need that that little
- 26:33Speaker 4: friction between them anyway in the movie, like the natural
- 26:36Speaker 4: dislike for each other to show on camera. So if
- 26:39Speaker 4: you put them two together in that bathroom scene, oh,
- 26:42Speaker 4: it's gonna be on the popular I'm not gonna talk
- 26:46Speaker 4: of the bathroom scene. Yeah, when you get there, you
- 26:52Speaker 4: know there's a lay.
- 26:56Speaker 3: You know, there's a I want to say a lot
- 26:57Speaker 3: of violence.
- 26:58Speaker 4: But I'm just saying there's a lot of people got
- 27:00Speaker 4: there behind cuts in this movie, this book, and.
- 27:02Speaker 3: I'm saying existence.
- 27:07Speaker 4: They deserve this this. I mean, you know, nobody got
- 27:10Speaker 4: no looks they didn't deserve. They did. And you know what,
- 27:14Speaker 4: I can literally see those of that.
- 27:21Speaker 3: Prestige if I can say.
- 27:22Speaker 4: It like that, I can see him doing stuff like that.
- 27:26Speaker 4: I can literally see that.
- 27:29Speaker 2: So but I got one more question for you, color
- 27:34Speaker 2: Oh Lifetime.
- 27:36Speaker 3: Lifetime is on the phone.
- 27:38Speaker 2: They love his rented family and they say, you know what,
- 27:42Speaker 2: we want to do a bio pic on you.
- 27:46Speaker 4: Who give the honor of playing you? And why my
- 27:54Speaker 4: daughter because nobody, nobody's going to represent me the right
- 28:03Speaker 4: way like she would. You know, you don't know me.
- 28:06Speaker 4: I had one off to say myself, my daughter, you could.
- 28:14Speaker 3: My daughter?
- 28:15Speaker 4: Yeah, like Hey, you know, no who's gonna I'm always
- 28:20Speaker 4: gonna make my daughter first, no matter what. If that's
- 28:23Speaker 4: if it's my choice, I'm gonna put her first. No
- 28:25Speaker 4: if I had to pick somebody like they're making it
- 28:29Speaker 4: forcing me to pick someone professional, like a professional actress.
- 28:35Speaker 4: We're going with your daughter.
- 28:38Speaker 3: You don't give nobody else that. We're gonna give that
- 28:41Speaker 3: to your daughter.
- 28:41Speaker 4: You get that queen, that title. There you before we
- 28:48Speaker 4: leave from that, Oh my god, we're coming to close.
- 28:56Speaker 4: But before we leave, can you tell us.
- 28:59Speaker 2: How you can get your books, how we can follow you.
- 29:03Speaker 2: She has a great presence on Facebook. I love her presence.
- 29:07Speaker 2: I mean, you can always see what she got going on,
- 29:10Speaker 2: and she actually promotes others. Is she she shares a wisdom?
- 29:15Speaker 4: I love that. You know it's enough for all us,
- 29:19Speaker 4: But go ahead and give us the rundown, girly. I'm
- 29:22Speaker 4: on Facebook. I'm on I have a main Facebook page
- 29:26Speaker 4: with eleven thousand followers under author Black Women. I'm also

- 29:43Speaker 4: thousand people. That's for anybody to join l b g
- 29:47Speaker 4: g Q I A plus men. Women please come in,
- 29:50Speaker 4: you know, join and bring your readers with you. I
- 29:56Speaker 4: have a Facebook group for black women who want to
- 29:58Speaker 4: learn the writing process. It's called black Ole's Right Too
- 30:02Speaker 4: Too explanation point. We have eighty thousand women in there
- 30:06Speaker 4: that will help you. I also help you sell your
- 30:09Speaker 4: books in there as well as I sell mine. So
- 30:11Speaker 4: you can find my books on Facebook and those groups.
- 30:15Speaker 4: You can find me on TikTok under author black Queen.
- 30:19Speaker 4: I have five thousand followers on TikTok. You can find
- 30:23Speaker 4: me on Lemonade, Pinterest, and Blue Sky. You can always
- 30:30Speaker 4: DM me or Messenger if you want to just buy
- 30:32Speaker 4: a book and to purchase books everything and the audio
- 30:36Speaker 4: is on Amazon under Black Queen. Well, before you go
- 30:41Speaker 4: Black Queen, we have a question from James M.
- 30:44Speaker 3: Forty three.
- 30:46Speaker 4: I ahad, how did you come up with the concept
- 30:50Speaker 4: of the story? Hi James, thanks for tuning in tonight,
- 30:55Speaker 4: and what a wonderful question. So I came up with
- 31:00Speaker 4: the story because I was thinking to myself because I'm
- 31:05Speaker 4: a New Yorker, so I know, you know, I'm a
- 31:07Speaker 4: New Yorker that was working in New York and the
- 31:09Speaker 4: two or you know, two thousands, and you know, the
- 31:12Speaker 4: late nineties when the corporate game wasn't really built for us.
- 31:17Speaker 4: And so I thought to myself, what if there was
- 31:21Speaker 4: somebody who you know, had made it, like all the
- 31:25Speaker 4: way up the corporate ladder, but the only obstacle they
- 31:28Speaker 4: had was family values? Because back then a lot of
- 31:30Speaker 4: company was like, oh, I don't want to promote him
- 31:33Speaker 4: because it's a risk. He's he's a player. He's out here,
- 31:36Speaker 4: you know, running through women, and you know it's a
- 31:39Speaker 4: bad look for a company. So what would happen if
- 31:43Speaker 4: I wrote a book where somebody beat them at their
- 31:46Speaker 4: own game? And that's where I came up with his
- 31:49Speaker 4: rinted family. Because if this black executive, young yup yuppie
- 31:55Speaker 4: made his way all the way to the top of
- 31:57Speaker 4: the corporate ladder and the only things staring him was
- 32:01Speaker 4: a family, how how bad do you want it? Do
- 32:06Speaker 4: you want it bad enough that you would fake a
- 32:08Speaker 4: family to get it? And so that's and then if
- 32:12Speaker 4: you did that, it can't be that easy, Like there's
- 32:15Speaker 4: gonna be some stuff going down. So that's how I
- 32:19Speaker 4: came up with the concept a man who rents a
- 32:22Speaker 4: family with the intent to get rid of them when
- 32:26Speaker 4: the contract is done. Yeah, she did, and thank you
- 32:31Speaker 4: for asking, James. She did a whole book talk and
- 32:36Speaker 4: covered everything but left the juicy part out. You did that, well,
- 32:41Speaker 4: you got only the juicy part. You can't tell them everything.
- 32:44Speaker 4: Then you tell the book. They're not going to want
- 32:46Speaker 4: to read it. You know, I think you know what
- 32:50Speaker 4: I'm going to ask before we before we hang up.
- 32:52Speaker 4: Do you have the synopsis in Amazon? You can read
- 32:55Speaker 4: it really quick? I shore is so people could know
- 32:59Speaker 4: what it's actual you're about before we go.
- 33:02Speaker 3: I will head over there.
- 33:03Speaker 4: But it is not a problem.
- 33:05Speaker 3: Amazon is rented.
- 33:12Speaker 4: And don't forget to leave me a five star review
- 33:14Speaker 4: purchased because you read the book.
- 33:16Speaker 3: You know I have to, you know I have.
- 33:18Speaker 4: To his rented family and interracial? Now what?
- 33:24Speaker 3: Okay? So what does b m HW mean?
- 33:29Speaker 4: Black male, historic Hispanic? I'm sorry, black male Hispanic woman?
- 33:35Speaker 2: Oh okay, okay, Holiday romance, a billionaire, suspense, age gap, mystery, thriller, suspense,
- 33:44Speaker 2: fake relationship, drama, and y'all, each one of those things
- 33:49Speaker 2: are happening, and the way that it is tied together.
- 33:52Speaker 4: That's all I can say. I want to say all right,
- 33:56Speaker 4: So Harper, a successful self made millionaire, is on the
- 34:00Speaker 4: verge of ceiling and monumental fifty million dollars deal the
- 34:05Speaker 4: most significant opportunity of his career.
- 34:09Speaker 2: However, there is a major hurdle. The company in question
- 34:13Speaker 2: is under the ownership of Jackson, Thompson and Rowe, a
- 34:17Speaker 2: corporate titan known for upholding family traditional family values in
- 34:23Speaker 2: its operation. Within this company, promotions heavenly favor employees with
- 34:30Speaker 2: spouses and children, as they are perceived to have greater
- 34:34Speaker 2: financial responsibilities. Okay, As a highly eligible and intelligent Jesus
- 34:42Speaker 2: Christ bachelor, Harper valiant recognized that he cannot progress with
- 34:48Speaker 2: the deal without the appearance of a family.
- 34:51Speaker 3: The situation worsens when.
- 34:53Speaker 2: He learns that attending the company annual Thanksgiving through New
- 34:58Speaker 2: Year's even events holds the by president Malik Jackson requires
- 35:03Speaker 2: him to bring along a family, a fact that he
- 35:06Speaker 2: has somewhat exaggerated earlier. So, you guys, we got friends,
- 35:12Speaker 2: the lovers, fake relationship, murder, mystery, thriller, suspense, age gap, love, yearning, romance, guilty,
- 35:24Speaker 2: Oh they're guilted loving so uncovering secret paths. Now we
- 35:30Speaker 2: also have Candy Lane Candle Lane and keep on calling
- 35:34Speaker 2: her Candy because she was.
- 35:35Speaker 3: Sweet on him and he was sweet on her.
- 35:37Speaker 2: Residing in a disadvantaged neighborhood, had her academics aspirations put
- 35:42Speaker 2: on hold after discovering her unexpected pregnancy, despite having secured
- 35:48Speaker 2: a scholarship to an Ivy League college, Struggling together funds
- 35:52Speaker 2: for her community college tuition, a friend.
- 35:57Speaker 4: Suggests as a lucrative offer. Now you have to see
- 36:01Speaker 4: what happened in the beginning with the France, because that
- 36:03Speaker 4: tricked me out too. A wealthy client is looking for
- 36:07Speaker 4: a beautiful woman and a baby to pose as his
- 36:10Speaker 4: family until New Year, offering a significant compensation.
- 36:15Speaker 2: Will Candle accept the proportion, the proper the y'all, me
- 36:21Speaker 2: and this world always have well, she accepted to act
- 36:25Speaker 2: like Harper's temporary family, and will Harper patronized love or
- 36:30Speaker 2: financial gain in this unusual arrangement? Y'all great synopsis. First
- 36:37Speaker 2: of all, you did that, you did, thank you, And
- 36:41Speaker 2: since you read.
- 36:42Speaker 4: You read those synopsis, when that trope comes along, you
- 36:48Speaker 4: automatically identify it. But you know, hold on to people
- 36:53Speaker 4: because the next thing is right around the corner's gonna
- 36:55Speaker 4: kicking your neck. And about two to three pages.
- 36:57Speaker 2: Okay, but Black Queen, I thank you for being with
- 37:04Speaker 2: me tonight. You guys go grab his rented family. You
- 37:12Speaker 2: will not be disappointed. Okay, check on my review that
- 37:18Speaker 2: will You're welcome. I'm going to post my review this weekend. Okay,
- 37:23Speaker 2: I have one review that's going to come out tonight
- 37:26Speaker 2: and this will be my very next review. Thank you,
- 37:30Speaker 2: thank you.
- 37:31Speaker 4: Thank you, thank you for having me. Thank you for
- 37:35Speaker 4: reading the book. I'm so happy you enjoyed it. And
- 37:38Speaker 4: my next book is coming out on October first, called Leviticus,
- 37:44Speaker 4: King of Zombie. So we already have a vampire book
- 37:49Speaker 4: that came out, we have a worldof book that was
- 37:52Speaker 4: released after that in the Vampire Uprising series, and now
- 37:56Speaker 4: the Zombie shall tread the earth on October first and
- 38:00Speaker 4: bring a nasty, nasty virus with them. All the humans
- 38:07Speaker 4: are dead and there are only zombies left. The year
- 38:11Speaker 4: is threey ten. Come with me, say you can meet Leviticus,
- 38:16Speaker 4: King of Zombies October first. See what you think about him.
- 38:23Speaker 4: I don't even read them type of books. But how
- 38:25Speaker 4: do we You just did that book talk. He's not
- 38:32Speaker 4: your ever zombie. He's not your ever zombie for some beieve,
- 38:38Speaker 4: for some reason, Leviticus still has his mind about him.
- 38:43Speaker 4: He's not a mush brain mush. He knows exactly what's
- 38:46Speaker 4: going on. There's something special about Leviticus that he's not.
- 38:51Speaker 4: His brain is not turned to mush, and his flesh
- 38:54Speaker 4: is not riting like everyone else. So you have to
- 38:57Speaker 4: come and find out. Why is this not our black
- 39:00Speaker 4: zombie king running the entire United States after the humans
- 39:08Speaker 4: abandoned the earth and left it to him?
- 39:11Speaker 3: Y'all?
- 39:12Speaker 4: She is the queen the curveballs in the book.
- 39:14Speaker 2: Don't don't go, but you can think that it's gonna
- 39:18Speaker 2: be simple and that you're gonna get She's gonna give
- 39:21Speaker 2: you that a nice little All these.
- 39:24Speaker 4: Heroes are us. I make sure the books show that
- 39:29Speaker 4: they're melanated and that we always have a strong African
- 39:36Speaker 4: American female behind a strong black king in every book. Yes, yes,
- 39:43Speaker 4: no matter what, no matter what dimension world around we're in,
- 39:48Speaker 4: we win. Come on through this, Have me back. It's

- 42:33Speaker 3: I would want to see how.
- 42:38Speaker 2: Candle and Harper is doing is doing because I really
- 42:44Speaker 2: feel that it is. I feel that there is another another,
- 42:52Speaker 2: there's another situation that's brewing because.
- 42:56Speaker 4: Jason, which is Jason was the baby daddy, right, mm hmm,
- 43:00Speaker 4: Jason cartright, he was the next Kobe Bryant. I don't
- 43:04Speaker 4: think that. I think that's gonna be something near because
- 43:09Speaker 4: remember now, when homeboy grabbed that ball.
- 43:12Speaker 3: That just hurts a man.
- 43:15Speaker 4: Mother.
- 43:16Speaker 3: Man does not want to.
- 43:18Speaker 4: See his baby mama level up with somebody who loves him.
- 43:24Speaker 3: Every baby loves his son. I really feel that he
- 43:30Speaker 3: got something up his sleep.
- 43:34Speaker 4: Mm hmmm. That could be a good second book, like
- 43:37Speaker 4: he's trying to break them up or something. Right, Yeah,
- 43:42Speaker 4: I see that.
- 43:43Speaker 3: I just don't.
- 43:44Speaker 4: I just don't see him going away quietly. I don't
- 43:51Speaker 4: because how can you marry? How can you be married
- 43:54Speaker 4: to him? But you're engaged to me? Right right?
