Speaker 1: What's up everyone and welcome to another episode of the
• 0:03
Speaker 1: Epstein Chronicles. In this episode we're going to pick up
• 0:06
Speaker 1: where we left off with the Hillary Clinton transcript from
• 0:09
Speaker 1: her trip to Congress. Question, thank you Madam Secretary. I
• 0:14
Speaker 1: know that a couple of the minority members have just
• 0:16
Speaker 1: a couple questions as part of this hour as well.
• 0:19
Speaker 1: And so I have a few and then I'll turn
• 0:21
Speaker 1: it over to a couple in the minority members as well.
• 0:24
Speaker 1: You can hear me okay from there? Answer, yes I can,
• 0:28
Speaker 1: I can. but it would help if the minority members
• 0:30
Speaker 1: would move across. Question, yeah, actually they're going to sit
• 0:35
Speaker 1: right across. Clinton, okay, perfect, perfect, thank you. Question, great,
• 0:39
Speaker 1: thank you. I just want to begin by asking you
• 0:41
Speaker 1: a few questions, which I believe you've already clarified in
• 0:45
Speaker 1: your opening statement. But just to be very clear on
• 0:47
Speaker 1: the record one more time, as best as you can recall,
• 0:50
Speaker 1: you've never met Jeffrey Epstein? Answer, that's true, that's correct. Question,
• 0:54
Speaker 1: as best as you can recall, and you've said this,
• 0:57
Speaker 1: You've never went to the island? Answer, never went to
• 1:00
Speaker 1: the island. Question, you never flew with him on a plane? Answer,
• 1:04
Speaker 1: never flew with him on a plane. Question, and you
• 1:06
Speaker 1: were never aware of his horrific crimes prior to those
• 1:09
Speaker 1: becoming public knowledge, is that correct? Answer, that is correct. Question, okay,
• 1:13
Speaker 1: thank you. I also wanted to just know, one of
• 1:16
Speaker 1: the questions that we've been receiving a lot has been
• 1:19
Speaker 1: speculation amongst the public that Jeffrey Epstein was somehow affiliated
• 1:23
Speaker 1: with foreign intelligence agencies or other intelligence services. And I
• 1:27
Speaker 1: know that we have received numerous questions of that type. Now, obviously,
• 1:31
Speaker 1: you served as Secretary of State. Thank you for your
• 1:34
Speaker 1: service in your role as Secretary of State. Were you
• 1:37
Speaker 1: ever made aware of Jeffrey Epstein having any type of
• 1:39
Speaker 1: relationship with foreign intelligence agencies? Obviously, of course, of a
• 1:44
Speaker 1: foreign country. Answer, I was not. And ranking member Garcia,
• 1:47
Speaker 1: I'm aware of the speculation around this, and that comes
• 1:50
Speaker 1: from the files being released and questions being raised. And
• 1:54
Speaker 1: I do think that is a fruitful area for the
• 1:56
Speaker 1: committee to investigate. Question, no, I appreciate that because I'll
• 2:00
Speaker 1: say of the type of questions that we're receiving, the
• 2:03
Speaker 1: kind of conversations around whether Jeffrey Epstein had ties to
• 2:06
Speaker 1: foreign intelligence or was working with foreign governments continues to
• 2:09
Speaker 1: come up. And so obviously, as Secretary of State, that
• 2:12
Speaker 1: would be something I would imagine you may or may
• 2:15
Speaker 1: not have information for. So I appreciate the response. Question,
• 2:20
Speaker 1: Madam Secretary, just lastly, I also want to thank you
• 2:22
Speaker 1: for your testimony. And broadly speaking, you've probably been following
• 2:26
Speaker 1: just recently and this week, And we've seen, and there's
• 2:30
Speaker 1: been reports that numerous files are missing from the group
• 2:32
Speaker 1: of files that have been released. For the record, only
• 2:36
Speaker 1: about approximately 50% of the total files have likely been released,
• 2:40
Speaker 1: and other percentages have been withheld for whatever reason we're
• 2:44
Speaker 1: not really sure of and don't really understand. It's also
• 2:47
Speaker 1: been reported by numerous outlets this week that the FBI
• 2:51
Speaker 1: has removed files that are supposed to be made available
• 2:53
Speaker 1: to Congress that include serious allegations of alleged abuse by
• 2:57
Speaker 1: President Trump, sexual abuse of a minor. Now, these are
• 3:01
Speaker 1: allegations that we know have been corroborated in other ways,
• 3:05
Speaker 1: and the media have reported on these, but these files
• 3:07
Speaker 1: themselves have been removed. Now, we view this as a
• 3:10
Speaker 1: very serious matter. I've personally looked for these files in
• 3:13
Speaker 1: the archive, Manifest, that lists which files should be placed there.
• 3:18
Speaker 1: Those files are no longer there, and we have been
• 3:20
Speaker 1: calling on the DOJ and the Attorney General to release
• 3:23
Speaker 1: all the files. I'm wondering if in your experience, obviously
• 3:28
Speaker 1: in the U.S. Senate as Secretary of State, if you've
• 3:31
Speaker 1: entered responses to the behavior of the DOJ and their
• 3:34
Speaker 1: withholding of critical information and the apparent removal of files
• 3:38
Speaker 1: that could suggest serious crimes by folks in the administration. Answer, Congressman,
• 3:44
Speaker 1: I appreciate your raising this issue, and I appreciated the
• 3:47
Speaker 1: statement that you put out when this became public knowledge,
• 3:50
Speaker 1: thanks to investigative reporting, which revealed it. And I think
• 3:55
Speaker 1: that this behavior by the Justice Department deserves the most
• 3:58
Speaker 1: thorough investigation that Congress could carry out. As I understand
• 4:02
Speaker 1: the sequence of events, the committee subpoenaed the Justice Department,
• 4:05
Speaker 1: as well as the Epstein estate, as well as law
• 4:08
Speaker 1: enforcement officials from prior administrations, as well as my husband
• 4:11
Speaker 1: and me. the Justice Department refused to comply, which is
• 4:15
Speaker 1: what led to the passage by Congress of the Transparency Act,
• 4:19
Speaker 1: which was then signed into law. And I think from
• 4:22
Speaker 1: the very beginning, the behavior of the Attorney General and
• 4:25
Speaker 1: her staff has demonstrated either a gross incompetence, which is
• 4:29
Speaker 1: bothersome because they're the keepers of information and should be
• 4:32
Speaker 1: evaluated for law enforcement purposes, or a clear cover-up because
• 4:36
Speaker 1: they're protecting the President and others. Either one of those
• 4:39
Speaker 1: should be the focus of this committee to try to
• 4:41
Speaker 1: get to the bottom. If they're incompetent and they're incapable
• 4:45
Speaker 1: of complying with the law that Congress passed, we need
• 4:47
Speaker 1: to know because they are falling down on the job.
• 4:52
Speaker 1: They have an FBI director who's more interested in drinking
• 4:54
Speaker 1: beer in a hockey dressing room after our team won
• 4:57
Speaker 1: the Olympics rather than being responsive and complying with the
• 5:00
  Speaker 1: law as it's been promulgated. So I don't think it's
• 5:03
Speaker 1: unfair to say that given the sequencing of events, starting
• 5:06
Speaker 1: with what the way President Trump made the release of
• 5:09
Speaker 1: the files a key element, of his 2024 campaign, the
• 5:12
Speaker 1: promise that he and then his Attorney General made that
• 5:16
Speaker 1: all files would be released, then a walking back of
• 5:19
Speaker 1: that as they began to look at the files. And
• 5:22
Speaker 1: ignoring of what they promised, including that they had a
• 5:25
Speaker 1: client list on the desk of the Attorney General, reasonable
• 5:29
Speaker 1: people would have to assume that they're engaged in a
• 5:31
Speaker 1: massive cover-up, which is infuriating as an American, as a citizen.
• 5:35
Speaker 1: All of us should be, regardless of party, wondering what
• 5:38
Speaker 1: they're hiding. And that's why I said in my opening
• 5:40
Speaker 1: statement the President of the United States is not above
• 5:43
Speaker 1: the law and should be in a setting like this
• 5:46
Speaker 1: answering questions under oath, as should others who are prominently
• 5:50
Speaker 1: featured in the files, and especially the group that is
• 5:53
Speaker 1: featured after 2008. Because prior to 2008, when Jeffrey Epstein
• 5:58
Speaker 1: pled guilty to watered-down charges that Alex Acosta negotiated and
• 6:02
Speaker 1: then was rewarded for it in the first Trump administration
• 6:05
Speaker 1: with a cabinet position, there are so many unanswered questions.
• 6:09
Speaker 1: And I looked at the transcript of Alex Acosta's testimony
• 6:12
Speaker 1: that was taken before this committee, and I don't think
• 6:15
Speaker 1: any Republican members asked him a question. So you have
• 6:18
Speaker 1: to conclude that there's something rotten in the state of Denmark,
• 6:22
Speaker 1: or clearly the Justice Department, starting in the White House
• 6:25
Speaker 1: and at the top of the Attorney General. And this
• 6:29
Speaker 1: latest example of the missing files about the allegations, and
• 6:33
Speaker 1: they are absolutely nothing more than allegations, but the FBI
• 6:36
Speaker 1: interviewed that witness four times. You don't interview a non-credible
• 6:39
Speaker 1: witness four times. You don't put it into FBI reporting,
• 6:43
Speaker 1: protecting this source, if you think there's nothing to it. So,
• 6:47
Speaker 1: of course, I would like to know, like every other
• 6:49
Speaker 1: American deserves to know, what's in those files? And who's
• 6:53
Speaker 1: going to hold people accountable? Because the Justice Department seems
• 6:56
Speaker 1: to be either unwilling or incapable of doing it. Question,
• 7:00
Speaker 1: thank you, Madam Secretary. Let me also just add one thing.
• 7:04
Speaker 1: You've probably also read reporting that Secretary Lutnick was pretty
• 7:07
Speaker 1: open in an interview about not having spoken to Epstein
• 7:10
Speaker 1: or interacted with him after 2005. And then we go
• 7:14
Speaker 1: on to learn that Secretary Lutnick not only went to
• 7:17
Speaker 1: the island, there were visits, they went into possible business together,
• 7:21
Speaker 1: communicated with his wife, so there were numerous interactions that
• 7:25
Speaker 1: happened after that interview. We believe that Secretary Lutnick should
• 7:29
Speaker 1: be in front of this committee answering questions, especially when
• 7:32
Speaker 1: he's choosing to essentially lie about his interactions with Mr. Epstein.
• 7:36
Speaker 1: Would you agree Secretary Lutnick should come and testify? Answer.
• 7:39
Speaker 1: I think everyone that the committee sees playing a prominent
• 7:42
Speaker 1: role in the file should be deposed. That's your job.
• 7:46
Speaker 1: Your job is to try and get to the truth
• 7:48
Speaker 1: as best as you can determine it. And that should
• 7:50
Speaker 1: be the guiding principle, it seems to me, as to
• 7:53
Speaker 1: who you ask to come before you. Question. Thank you.
• 7:57
Speaker 1: Next person asking questions, another congressman, unnamed. Question, hello, thank you, Secretary,
• 8:02
Speaker 1: for being here today. I'm going to ask you a
• 8:04
Speaker 1: few questions that might be a little redundant. Answer, that's okay. Question,
• 8:08
Speaker 1: but just for the record. So I'm correct that you
• 8:11
Speaker 1: did not know at any point before Jeffrey Epstein's crimes
• 8:14
Speaker 1: became public that Epstein committed or facilitated sexual abuse of
• 8:18
Speaker 1: minors and young women? Answer, that is correct. Question, and
• 8:22
Speaker 1: prior to Epstein's crimes becoming public, were you ever warned
• 8:25
Speaker 1: not to associate with him? Answer, not that I recall. Question,
• 8:29
Speaker 1: and you did not know at any point before Maxwell's
• 8:31
Speaker 1: crimes became public that she committed or facilitated sexual abuse
• 8:35
Speaker 1: of minors or young women? Answer, that is correct. Question,
• 8:39
Speaker 1: and did anyone ever raise concerns to you about Ms.
• 8:42
Speaker 1: Maxwell or warn you not to associate with her at
• 8:45
Speaker 1: any point? Answer, not that I recall. Question, thank you.
• 8:48
Speaker 1: And you served as First Lady and U.S. Senator and
• 8:51
Speaker 1: Secretary of State, and so you met a lot of
• 8:53
Speaker 1: other heads of state foreign dignitaries. And so at any point,
• 8:57
Speaker 1: did Jeffrey Epstein or Glenn Maxwell's names come up? Answer,
• 9:00
Speaker 1: not that I recall. Question, and you mentioned you did
• 9:03
Speaker 1: a lot of work on human trafficking. Could you talk
• 9:05
Speaker 1: a little bit more about that? And then also, I
• 9:07
Speaker 1: would like to know if Jeffrey Epstein or Glenn Maxwell's
• 9:10
Speaker 1: names ever came up. Answer, no. I can tell you
• 9:13
Speaker 1: that those names never came up. As I said prior
• 9:16
Speaker 1: to their crimes becoming public, I don't think people knew.
• 9:19
Speaker 1: Or if they did know, they were not sharing that.
• 9:21
Speaker 1: Or if they did share it with the FBI or
• 9:23
Speaker 1: the Justice Department, the investigations never went anywhere. So I
• 9:27
Speaker 1: don't know that anybody would have ever raised those names.
• 9:30
Speaker 1: And I don't know that anybody knew to even look
• 9:32
Speaker 1: into it. As I said, the whole question of human trafficking,
• 9:36
Speaker 1: sexual slavery, forced labor, domestic violence, for the longest time,
• 9:40
Speaker 1: were not even considered crimes. And it took a lot
• 9:43
Speaker 1: of effort on the part of many, many courageous people
• 9:46
Speaker 1: around the world to raise the visibility of these crimes
• 9:49
Speaker 1: and to actually charge criminal law in many countries. When
• 9:52
Speaker 1: I spoke in 95 at the UN World Conference on
• 9:55
Speaker 1: Women in Beijing, that was one of the issues everyone
• 9:58
Speaker 1: was struggling with. Domestic violence. was considered cultural, not criminal.
• 10:02
Speaker 1: Sexual slavery was just something that happened. Young women were
• 10:05
Speaker 1: forced into prostitution. All of this certainly known and was
• 10:09
Speaker 1: something that had gone on for centuries, thousands of years.
• 10:12
Speaker 1: But there were finally enough outrage and organization, impetus, to
• 10:16
Speaker 1: begin to try and change that. And that's what I
• 10:18
Speaker 1: worked on. when I was First Lady, because I really
• 10:21
Speaker 1: became aware as I traveled to Asia and Africa, even
• 10:24
Speaker 1: Eastern Europe, particularly after the fall of the Soviet Union,
• 10:28
Speaker 1: what a big criminal network was operating around the world
• 10:30
Speaker 1: to traffic people. And obviously, we're here focusing on what
• 10:34
Speaker 1: happened to girls and women with being sexually abused. And
• 10:37
Speaker 1: it's also true that people were forced into labor and
• 10:39
Speaker 1: mines and fishing boats. I mean, this was a phenomenon
• 10:43
Speaker 1: that finally was getting attention, and we worked very hard
• 10:45
Speaker 1: to raise visibility. I mentioned the law, that was finally
• 10:49
Speaker 1: passed in our country in 2000, there was also something
• 10:52
Speaker 1: called the Palermo Protocol, where nations came together to pledge
• 10:55
Speaker 1: themselves to change laws to implement enforcement against trafficking. So
• 10:59
Speaker 1: it's been a long struggle. But we've tried to focus
• 11:02
Speaker 1: on preventing it, prosecuting it, and protecting the survivors. And
• 11:06
Speaker 1: we've made progress. But obviously, we're here today talking about
• 11:10
Speaker 1: crimes that are still happening, even in our own country.
• 11:13
Speaker 1: All right, folks, we're going to wrap up right here.
• 11:15
Speaker 1: And in the next episode dealing with the topic, we're
• 11:17
Speaker 1: going to pick up where we left off. All the
• 11:19
Speaker 1: information that goes with this episode can be found in
• 11:23
  Speaker 1: the description box.
