- 0:18[SPEAKER_02]: Hey, everybody.
- 0:19[SPEAKER_02]: Welcome to episode 33 of cheesy popcorn.
- 0:23[SPEAKER_02]: I'm your co-host Chris Miles along with my good buddy and of our and 33, huh?
- 0:29[SPEAKER_03]: 33.
- 0:30[SPEAKER_03]: Wow.
- 0:32[SPEAKER_03]: Jesus is a 20 passed away.
- 0:36[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, sure.
- 0:38[SPEAKER_02]: We'll roll with that considering Easter was a couple of weeks ago or if or if you create it was last week.
- 0:44[SPEAKER_02]: right it was yeah so it's been a while since we've been behind the mic talking to you about what's going on in the world of entertainment whether it be movies tv or any other entertainment for that matter uh but we are back in the shadow we do not have a review this week for a movie because it's been a little bit since we've been out and some of the new reviews or the new movies that came out we we weren't uh
- 1:05[SPEAKER_02]: We wouldn't have been able to provide you with what we thought would have been an adequate review so to speak.
- 1:10[SPEAKER_02]: So with that being said, let's talk about what's happening in the world of movies.
- 1:15[SPEAKER_02]: This week, remember we talk about the nationwide releases.
- 1:19[SPEAKER_02]: We don't necessarily talk about the limited releases because there is a movie coming out this week that you were talking about, Annabar.
- 1:24[SPEAKER_02]: That's on limited release.
- 1:26[SPEAKER_02]: What was the name of that movie?
- 1:27[SPEAKER_03]: the name of that movie was normal is because it's still it's coming out of this normal with it's a thriller it's a drama thriller with the reason I wanted to see it was and I still I will see it is because Henry Winkler is in it and for those of us that don't know who Henry Winkler is you might know him more famously as what character from what TV show
- 1:52[SPEAKER_02]: Um, this dish had been one of the questions for my time.
- 1:56[SPEAKER_03]: No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no
- 2:05[SPEAKER_03]: So, I'm thinking that's going to be quite a combo, the first and Bob Oden Kirk.
- 2:12[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.
- 2:13[SPEAKER_02]: Now, remember, this isn't limited release, so it may not necessarily be in your area.
- 2:19[SPEAKER_02]: Now, we're in the Chicago land area and I know it's going to be playing at some of the movie theaters in this area.
- 2:22[SPEAKER_02]: So maybe head to a bigger city, and maybe you'll find it there, as always, you can check out other things.
- 2:28[SPEAKER_02]: I usually check like then Dango for information too, so that's a good place to go.
- 2:34[SPEAKER_02]: Only because it's kind of related to all the movie theaters and that kind of stuff.
- 2:37[SPEAKER_02]: And if the movie theater gives you the wrong information, well then it's the movie theater's fault, right?
- 2:41[SPEAKER_03]: Right.
- 2:41[SPEAKER_03]: That's the way I look at it.
- 2:42[SPEAKER_03]: You may have to point to tell me I'm looking in the wrong place.
- 2:45[SPEAKER_03]: which is my whole life.
- 2:46[SPEAKER_03]: I've been looking for stuff in the wrong place.
- 2:48[SPEAKER_02]: Well, when when you when you talk about movies that came out a week ago or two weeks ago and we're supposed to be talking about stuff that came out this week.
- 2:55[SPEAKER_02]: What more can I say?
- 2:56[SPEAKER_02]: I don't speak it about that.
- 2:57[SPEAKER_02]: You keep asking me about a movie called What is it again?
- 2:59[SPEAKER_02]: 101.
- 3:02[SPEAKER_03]: Correct 101.
- 3:02[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that movie came out like in February.
- 3:05[SPEAKER_02]: Preview it.
- 3:05[SPEAKER_02]: No, yes, I just said like yeah, well, you just saw it we could go right while you just saw it But it's because it's worth it's been out since like February or March or yeah, we all know who he is
- 3:18[SPEAKER_03]: It was a lot of, uh, there were a lot of car chase scenes.
- 3:21[SPEAKER_02]: So since you saw it and we didn't really, why don't you review it and tell us which was good.
- 3:25[SPEAKER_03]: It was good.
- 3:26[SPEAKER_03]: I like Chris Hemsworth first.
- 3:27[SPEAKER_02]: Did you see it in the theaters?
- 3:29[SPEAKER_03]: Or did you see it in the comfort of your son and the comfort of my recliner, right?
- 3:32[SPEAKER_02]: So there he go.
- 3:33[SPEAKER_03]: At starting at 11 o'clock at night and finished at about 12.45, you stayed up for it.
- 3:38[SPEAKER_03]: I stayed up and I like the ending.
- 3:41[SPEAKER_03]: So I'm not giving anything away.
- 3:44[SPEAKER_03]: You know, people will some people are saying that we give away the endings.
- 3:47[SPEAKER_03]: I'm not going to say who says that.
- 3:48[SPEAKER_03]: But somebody says that all the time.
- 3:50[SPEAKER_02]: As he's about to give away the end of the week.
- 3:52[SPEAKER_03]: What's that called when you give away stuff?
- 3:57[SPEAKER_03]: what do we call that in the movie industry?
- 4:00[SPEAKER_03]: Spoiler alert.
- 4:02[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 4:03[SPEAKER_03]: Right.
- 4:03[SPEAKER_03]: I'm not doing that with this one.
- 4:04[SPEAKER_03]: If you like Crimson Helmsworth and you like fast-paced movies with there's like three storylines going on, but it's, but it's not a lot.
- 4:15[SPEAKER_03]: They are fit.
- 4:17[SPEAKER_03]: They are fit the puzzle beautifully.
- 4:18[SPEAKER_03]: So if you like Chris and you like chase movies and crime movies, you're like this one.
- 4:23[SPEAKER_03]: It was pretty good.
- 4:24[SPEAKER_03]: Not sure why they called it crime 101, but
- 4:26[SPEAKER_03]: Um, I didn't kind of get that part, but it's, and it's also got, uh, Rufalo, my Grufalo.
- 4:32[SPEAKER_03]: So you got two of the Avengers in there.
- 4:36[SPEAKER_03]: Hmm.
- 4:36[SPEAKER_03]: Can't be that.
- 4:39[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 4:39[SPEAKER_02]: So, so what's your rating?
- 4:41[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, I'd watch it again.
- 4:43[SPEAKER_03]: I'd give it a, I'd give it a eight, maybe a half.
- 4:46[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, okay.
- 4:47[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 4:47[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, it was entertaining.
- 4:49[SPEAKER_03]: And that's what a movie's supposed to do.
- 4:50[SPEAKER_03]: It's supposed to take you away from real life.
- 4:52[SPEAKER_03]: All right.
- 4:52[SPEAKER_03]: This one did it.
- 4:53[SPEAKER_03]: No, right.
- 4:54[SPEAKER_02]: There you go.
- 4:55[SPEAKER_02]: There you go.
- 4:56[SPEAKER_02]: There's your, huh?
- 4:57[SPEAKER_02]: Chris is just fun to look at.
- 4:59[SPEAKER_02]: Wow, thank you for letting us know your true feelings.
- 5:01[SPEAKER_02]: And not to know that you finally came out of the closet.
- 5:04[SPEAKER_02]: Anyway.
- 5:04[SPEAKER_03]: But where?
- 5:06[SPEAKER_03]: could you not love Thor?
- 5:08[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know.
- 5:09[SPEAKER_03]: Sometimes I'm really Thor.
- 5:11[SPEAKER_03]: I have to work out.
- 5:12[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that's what I heard about you.
- 5:14[SPEAKER_03]: All right, so up a coming.
- 5:15[SPEAKER_02]: Let's not drop the hammer, shall we?
- 5:16[SPEAKER_02]: All right, so talking about up a coming movie's Lee Cronin's The Mummy.
- 5:22[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 5:22[SPEAKER_02]: It's coming out and not to be confused with the brand and freezer version or anything like that.
- 5:27[SPEAKER_02]: This is supposed to be a remake of like the classic universal style of films.
- 5:32[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm going to leave my comments to myself on this one because I am a huge universal studio monster fan.
- 5:39[SPEAKER_02]: And every time somebody tries to remake one of these videos, I tell them no.
- 5:44[SPEAKER_03]: So, and I'm a mummy guy.
- 5:46[SPEAKER_03]: I've watched every mummy movie probably ever made, started with Boris Carloff.
- 5:49[SPEAKER_03]: And so, and I love the brand.
- 5:51[SPEAKER_03]: I got two, three, with brand energy, just two.
- 5:54[SPEAKER_02]: To the night off for sure, I think he was supposed to do the third one, but then I think the rock kind of like,
- 5:59[SPEAKER_02]: Super seated everything and then I remember them doing like one that was just the rock and like that scorpion king thing Oh, yeah, what scorpion king was good to yeah, I'm not saying that it was a good, but I just think I don't remember Brendan well I don't remember I'm looking forward to this mummy being in three movies for I don't recall But I know the two were good both were good both of mummies were good Well, there's been more than just one
- 6:25[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, there's been two for sure.
- 6:27[SPEAKER_02]: No, there's been like Brandon for sure.
- 6:28[SPEAKER_02]: There's been like three from that particular Brandon.
- 6:32[SPEAKER_02]: No, now with Brandon from that particular like brand of mummy when that was Brandon
- 6:38[SPEAKER_02]: as I said earlier, as I was saying from the brand versus the actor, okay, any kudos.
- 6:48[SPEAKER_03]: I didn't see the one without him.
- 6:49[SPEAKER_03]: I saw the two would Brendan and I'm looking forward to seeing this one.
- 6:52[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I don't remember if he was in a third one or not, but anyway, don't know.
- 6:56[SPEAKER_03]: Uh, and anyway, that's, that'll be a good one.
- 6:59[SPEAKER_02]: yeah so we'll see uh we didn't talk about that by the way no maybe this will be one of the movies we see however let's go over the rest of the list mother Mary which is kind of like a horror thriller uh four kids in a bank which seems like it's gonna be funny uh what's the guy from takin he's in that movie
- 7:19[SPEAKER_02]: Liam Mason's in four kids walking to a bank and then bus boys, which looks like it wants to be some sort of like new version of Like step kids or step dads or step parents or something like that
- 7:35[SPEAKER_02]: The movie that had like the guy from Billy Madison and then spade and like that that for some group I thought it was about the back the back goings of a Denny's restaurant.
- 7:47[SPEAKER_02]: I mean it's it's what it's gonna be about it's gonna be bus boys But it's gonna be in like that that fraternity type style humor type comedy movie
- 7:54[SPEAKER_02]: And they're white actors and it just sets us very realistic and it just doesn't appeal to me in any way shape or form But those are the movies that are coming out remember these are national release Not right so we we we did talk about a limited release But like I said we tend not to do that because I don't want to make somebody in a remote area like What could they go kick a rock and they're all upset and you know then we'll get all the emails right exactly or Or that was it is or the phone calls or the phone call from so you know back and we review money
- 8:24[SPEAKER_02]: I'm I'm up for it if that's what you want to review like I said Normally we talk about the movies.
- 8:28[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, look at that.
- 8:29[SPEAKER_01]: He's looking at me with his puppy I miss my mommy like please daddy can we Mommy You have to need to get your bottle
- 8:40[SPEAKER_02]: I'm fine with reviewing the Mummy.
- 8:43[SPEAKER_02]: There's no other movies this week.
- 8:44[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, the other one.
- 8:45[SPEAKER_03]: The four key work into bars kind of bank.
- 8:48[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, a little bit, but I haven't seen a good Mummy movie in a while.
- 8:52[SPEAKER_02]: Bank, not bar.
- 8:53[SPEAKER_03]: For kids to walk into a bank.
- 8:54[SPEAKER_03]: I'm a comic.
- 8:55[SPEAKER_03]: I'm a stand-up.
- 8:56[SPEAKER_03]: Everything is people walking in a bar.
- 8:58[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, you just said it three times now.
- 8:59[SPEAKER_02]: It's four kids.
- 9:00[SPEAKER_02]: It's a bar.
- 9:01[SPEAKER_02]: Walk into a bank and you've said bar three times now.
- 9:05[SPEAKER_03]: So you can't just walk into a bar.
- 9:06[SPEAKER_03]: The other one ducked.
- 9:07[SPEAKER_02]: Right, exactly.
- 9:09[SPEAKER_02]: All right, so that we go next week we'll have a review for you of the mummy you'll get my review Which is more credentials and then not yet Chris is review which is more serious and more professional and then you'll get mine
- 9:22[SPEAKER_03]: Which is more Yemeni, Yemeni, Yemeni.
- 9:24[SPEAKER_02]: No, I'm just kidding.
- 9:25[SPEAKER_02]: You have some very good insights on some of the things you do.
- 9:28[SPEAKER_02]: Although I've heard from fans that they're tired of hearing about how great the cinematography was.
- 9:33[SPEAKER_03]: But I mean, I'm sorry, but that's part of reviewing a movie.
- 9:35[SPEAKER_03]: It's a cinematography.
- 9:36[SPEAKER_03]: It's just about someone in the soundtrack.
- 9:38[SPEAKER_02]: Speaking of that, that's today's next week's episode as a matter of fact.
- 9:43[SPEAKER_02]: Next week, we're going to focus on soundtracks, so movies that we even enjoy the soundtracks of.
- 9:47[SPEAKER_02]: And I think
- 9:47[SPEAKER_03]: with a soundtrack, where the soundtrack really works, I think, is what I'm going to do.
- 9:51[SPEAKER_03]: Well, that's, you know, because some movies of soundtrack doesn't work.
- 9:54[SPEAKER_02]: You know, that's true.
- 9:55[SPEAKER_02]: That's very true.
- 9:57[SPEAKER_02]: And then there's some movies where the soundtrack, the songs from the soundtrack do better than the actual movie.
- 10:03[SPEAKER_02]: So I'll see if I can dig up some of those nuggets as well too for next week.
- 10:06[SPEAKER_02]: But this week we decided to pick up with animation.
- 10:09[SPEAKER_03]: Siminations.
- 10:10[SPEAKER_03]: What?
- 10:11[SPEAKER_03]: Siminations.
- 10:12[SPEAKER_03]: What emanated movies and aminated.
- 10:17[SPEAKER_02]: Wow, you're just on a roll with like a usually tongue twisted.
- 10:20[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, you haven't had a pez.
- 10:21[SPEAKER_02]: That's what it is right.
- 10:23[SPEAKER_02]: No pez today Yeah, we ran out because you ate them all a couple weeks ago.
- 10:27[SPEAKER_02]: I forgot to go buy more right
- 10:29[SPEAKER_02]: animations animated movies animated movies things of that nature so what we do on this area focuses we pick a couple of them we've been told by the upper management that we have to keep it brief which which I will now overrule and say you know if there's a couple more than just two that's fine whatever floats you boat because I feel like this portion of
- 10:56[SPEAKER_02]: research oriented I guess you could say and I feel like we're I feel like we're talking about stuff that people may or may not have really seen Right a lot of people focus on what's out there and what's new and what's hot.
- 11:06[SPEAKER_03]: Yep, and I think sometimes you miss out on some really good stuff So with that being somebody put a comment about that when we first started the show We were talking think I was talking about older movies and somebody put a comment that they never heard of it And went to watch it and really enjoyed it.
- 11:20[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, so I mean, and that's what the show is about we want to introduce you for that
- 11:24[SPEAKER_02]: And maybe not introduced, but we want to give mention to stuff that, you know, may have been overlooked.
- 11:30[SPEAKER_02]: Kind of an introduction.
- 11:31[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, if you have never seen cats of luck and we get to watch it and you love it, then we did a good thing.
- 11:38[SPEAKER_03]: And I work here would be done.
- 11:40[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, so there you go.
- 11:42[SPEAKER_03]: And I'll get the fee for a piece of bread.
- 11:44[SPEAKER_02]: I still have not seen Casabarika.
- 11:46[SPEAKER_03]: So there we go.
- 11:48[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 11:48[SPEAKER_02]: Well, here's the thing.
- 11:49[SPEAKER_02]: I watched, I tried to watch what's the Falcon one.
- 11:55[SPEAKER_02]: Multi-s Falcon one.
- 11:56[SPEAKER_02]: I tried to watch multi-s Falcon and I just couldn't get through it.
- 11:59[SPEAKER_02]: It's slow.
- 12:01[SPEAKER_03]: I need more.
- 12:02[SPEAKER_03]: methodical.
- 12:03[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 12:03[SPEAKER_03]: Check it out.
- 12:04[SPEAKER_03]: I get it.
- 12:04[SPEAKER_03]: There are movies that are slow.
- 12:06[SPEAKER_03]: There are movies that are methodical.
- 12:12[SPEAKER_03]: methodical.
- 12:14[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, okay, you and your 25% word for the day.
- 12:18[SPEAKER_03]: Anyway, so you want to go first.
- 12:20[SPEAKER_02]: Go first because I've ran.
- 12:23[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I've ran too long enough.
- 12:24[SPEAKER_03]: I have I have a two best one worst and then I I picked my best live action.
- 12:32[SPEAKER_03]: Make, you know, humans mixed with animation.
- 12:34[SPEAKER_03]: I picked that too.
- 12:35[SPEAKER_03]: I gave you one of those.
- 12:36[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 12:36[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
- 12:37[SPEAKER_03]: So.
- 12:38[SPEAKER_03]: And I'll and I'll tell you why when I get to that my best.
- 12:42[SPEAKER_03]: I think the number one.
- 12:44[SPEAKER_03]: animated movie, overall, storyline, animation, music, everything was cocoa for me.
- 12:53[SPEAKER_03]: And I so disappointed that it didn't win more words.
- 12:57[SPEAKER_03]: It should have won more.
- 12:57[SPEAKER_03]: It was one of the best storytelling animated movies I think of all time.
- 13:03[SPEAKER_03]: Now, very close to that in my mind are the Toy Story series.
- 13:11[SPEAKER_03]: I think that like the first toy story fabulous, then the second little bit better, little bit better.
- 13:17[SPEAKER_03]: But I don't, I think Coco was better than even those movies.
- 13:23[SPEAKER_02]: So I just interjecting here really quick because we were talking about this before.
- 13:27[SPEAKER_02]: The mummy, Brendan's been in three movies.
- 13:30[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, mummy one, mummy, the mummy return, mummy returns.
- 13:35[SPEAKER_02]: And then he was in one called the mummy, Tomb of the Dragon Emperor.
- 13:38[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 13:40[SPEAKER_03]: But then there's that time cruise movie that we don't need to talk about anyway, that's Cocoa number one for me and then close closely followed by the Toy Star series
- 13:51[SPEAKER_03]: It's a lot of other good animated movies like Master's Ink and stuff like that.
- 13:55[SPEAKER_03]: But, we story really?
- 13:57[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, yeah, just the characters.
- 13:59[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, again, it's a toy story was a kind of movie that when you went to work the next day to talk about it, you didn't talk about the voiceover people you talked about the characters.
- 14:11[SPEAKER_03]: And that's when a movie works to me.
- 14:13[SPEAKER_03]: If you're at work and you're talking about, oh, juzzy, I'll Tom Cruise jumped over the
- 14:22[SPEAKER_03]: You should be talking about the character and not the actor for a movie to work.
- 14:27[SPEAKER_03]: And for Toy Story, everybody was talking about Woody, right?
- 14:32[SPEAKER_03]: Nobody said Tom Hanks, they talked about Woody.
- 14:34[SPEAKER_03]: And in Coco, same thing, you know, nobody talked about the characters who, the actress who did the voices, they talked about the characters.
- 14:43[SPEAKER_03]: And it's such a great movie.
- 14:45[SPEAKER_03]: I think it was
- 14:47[SPEAKER_03]: And this is going to sound weird.
- 14:48[SPEAKER_03]: But I think it was a bit maligned because of what the subject matter was.
- 14:55[SPEAKER_03]: And I think that's why it didn't win as many awards as it should have won in my opinion.
- 15:03[SPEAKER_03]: But that's just me.
- 15:05[SPEAKER_03]: And then I picked a worst animated.
- 15:08[SPEAKER_03]: Can I tell you that one and I didn't care for you you have the mic in your hand and I had to I watched it because my grandson wants to watch it But I want was a sponge Bob stuff I just makes no sense to me whatsoever sponge would appear on the wear
- 15:23[SPEAKER_03]: running around with all the, it doesn't work for me.
- 15:28[SPEAKER_02]: There's square pants just to be, it's Captain Underpants that you might be thinking about that wears his underpants.
- 15:34[SPEAKER_02]: No, no, SpongeBob wears, those aren't his underwear, those are his pants, they're called square pants.
- 15:39[SPEAKER_03]: Well, they look like underwear.
- 15:41[SPEAKER_02]: I'm sure they do, but Captain Underpants, you know, Captain Underpants, I've seen that one too.
- 15:46[SPEAKER_03]: But, but the whole SpongeBob thing is, I'm really, who thought of that?
- 15:51[SPEAKER_03]: I'm sorry.
- 15:52[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, I'll stop there and then I'll do my live action after you do years.
- 15:56[SPEAKER_03]: No, go ahead, finish your live action.
- 15:58[SPEAKER_03]: Well, my live action, best live action ever.
- 15:59[SPEAKER_03]: Roger Rabbit.
- 15:59[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 16:00[SPEAKER_03]: There's not many, there's not many, there's not many, there's not many, there's not many, there's not many, there's not many, there's not many, there's not many, there's not many, there's not many, there's not many, there's not many, there's not many, there's not many, there's not many, there's not many, there's not many, there's not many, there's not many, there's not many, there's not many, there's not many, there's not many, there's not many, there's not many, there's not many, there's not many, there's not many, there's not many, there's not many, there's not many, there's not many, there's not
- 16:14[SPEAKER_03]: and Chris Lloyd.
- 16:16[SPEAKER_02]: There's not many animated slash live action movies.
- 16:19[SPEAKER_02]: There's a few out there, but there's not many.
- 16:21[SPEAKER_03]: There's not a lot, but like the whole Ted thing with the stuffed bear, a teddy bear.
- 16:27[SPEAKER_03]: I don't really consider that to be animated.
- 16:29[SPEAKER_03]: Well, it is animated.
- 16:30[SPEAKER_03]: The bear's animated.
- 16:31[SPEAKER_03]: It's not a real bear.
- 16:32[SPEAKER_03]: I guess you didn't know CGI.
- 16:33[SPEAKER_03]: I don't consider that either.
- 16:34[SPEAKER_03]: It's not a real bear.
- 16:35[SPEAKER_03]: I understand that it's not a real bear.
- 16:37[SPEAKER_02]: But I don't consider that animation.
- 16:39[SPEAKER_02]: I consider that CG.
- 16:40[SPEAKER_03]: I think it.
- 16:41[SPEAKER_03]: I didn't care.
- 16:42[SPEAKER_03]: That's live action with CGI.
- 16:45[SPEAKER_03]: But it doesn't work for me.
- 16:47[SPEAKER_03]: We're Roger Rabbit.
- 16:48[SPEAKER_03]: Every second of that movie is brilliant.
- 16:52[SPEAKER_03]: I'm still in love with Jessica Rabbit, by the way.
- 16:55[SPEAKER_02]: I can think of one other animated movie, okay.
- 16:59[SPEAKER_02]: That's also live action.
- 17:00[SPEAKER_02]: And cool, we're cool, we're old.
- 17:03[SPEAKER_02]: Cruel, we're old.
- 17:04[SPEAKER_02]: Cool, cool, cool, cool, we're old.
- 17:07[SPEAKER_03]: I didn't see that one.
- 17:08[SPEAKER_03]: Kim Basinger was in it.
- 17:10[SPEAKER_03]: Ooh, ooh.
- 17:11[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, then I got to watch it.
- 17:12[SPEAKER_03]: Now for Kim.
- 17:13[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 17:15[SPEAKER_03]: All right, so that's me.
- 17:16[SPEAKER_03]: There's you, those are other, okay.
- 17:20[SPEAKER_03]: I will speak no more.
- 17:21[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 17:22[SPEAKER_02]: Move the microwave from your mouth.
- 17:26[SPEAKER_03]: You can go now.
- 17:27[SPEAKER_03]: You can start.
- 17:28[SPEAKER_03]: We'll see how many times you talk over me.
- 17:29[SPEAKER_03]: Anyway.
- 17:30[SPEAKER_03]: I won't say anything else.
- 17:34[SPEAKER_02]: for now.
- 17:34[SPEAKER_02]: How many sides are there?
- 17:35[SPEAKER_02]: Exactly.
- 17:36[SPEAKER_02]: As soon as I say something, you're going to keep talking.
- 17:38[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to show you my cough.
- 17:39[SPEAKER_02]: Sound guy, would you please shut his mic off anyway?
- 17:42[SPEAKER_02]: All right.
- 17:42[SPEAKER_02]: So the first movie that I picked, you mentioned it in your whole spiel.
- 17:48[SPEAKER_02]: You can keep the mic next to yourself.
- 17:49[SPEAKER_02]: I don't care.
- 17:50[SPEAKER_02]: I'll just give you a new grief.
- 17:51[SPEAKER_02]: The first movie in that you mentioned, you talked about Toy Story.
- 17:54[SPEAKER_02]: I want to different route.
- 17:55[SPEAKER_02]: It's also a Pixar film.
- 17:57[SPEAKER_02]: But I went Monsters Inc.
- 17:58[SPEAKER_02]: And the reason why I went monster's ink is because it's not so much about the movie itself, I mean, because really honestly, probably the most taken away thing from that was the girl, right?
- 18:11[SPEAKER_02]: And all the things she used to call everybody in the nicknames and all that kind of stuff.
- 18:15[SPEAKER_02]: But the reason why I'm picking the movie is probably more so far a sentimental reason.
- 18:20[SPEAKER_02]: It's because of this movie that I finally decided that it was time to be a dad.
- 18:25[SPEAKER_02]: because I looked at this and I was like, you know what, this is one of those movies I wanna share with my kid.
- 18:30[SPEAKER_02]: And I just, I love the story of love that's inside of it, and how it shouldn't matter about what you look on the outside.
- 18:37[SPEAKER_02]: It's all about what's on the inside that you matter and that kind of stuff.
- 18:39[SPEAKER_02]: And that's kind of the way that I've always been about life in general.
- 18:43[SPEAKER_02]: So maybe I went more so because of the theme of this movie.
- 18:47[SPEAKER_02]: But it's still a fun flick.
- 18:48[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, there's some great moments in Billy Crystal's absolute hilarious.
- 18:51[SPEAKER_00]: Oh yeah.
- 18:52[SPEAKER_02]: So you can't go wrong with it.
- 18:54[SPEAKER_02]: You know, and it's on the list of like top 100 best animated movies of all time.
- 18:58[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 18:58[SPEAKER_02]: Um, and I seem to have some sort of theme going on here because my second pick and I didn't pick really bad animated because I Why are we talking on a band animated movie that we don't want somebody to go watch that not that there's anything wrong We're talking about SpongeBob and his square pants.
- 19:12[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, but yeah, I just I don't know I don't know I don't know.
- 19:16[SPEAKER_03]: I there is innocent of that
- 19:17[SPEAKER_02]: No, no, no, it's perfectly fine.
- 19:19[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not trying to, and I apologize if I'm coming off as trying to put you down for doing that.
- 19:24[SPEAKER_02]: I'm just saying, I can't think of an animated movie that I didn't at the very least minimally enjoy.
- 19:30[SPEAKER_02]: But here's the thing, you watch SpongeBob Squarepants for a very admirable reason.
- 19:35[SPEAKER_02]: Grants on one are to watch where I would never watch it.
- 19:38[SPEAKER_02]: But that's because I don't like SpongeBob at all.
- 19:41[SPEAKER_02]: And you don't like Squarepants.
- 19:42[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I mean who does they me they chave and they hurt and it looked like I'm nowhere You know, it just it doesn't look right But I've also watched a couple of episodes or I should say attempt it to watch a couple of regular episodes SpongeBob and I just don't find it appealing so and that's the thing and I'm sorry agree with you That okay if you want to talk about a movie that wasn't great as animation and I think this is more so a generational thing than anything
- 20:05[SPEAKER_02]: Because you know, I know a lot of, you know, my son is like, oh, SpongeBob, I was funny.
- 20:09[SPEAKER_02]: And that's why I tried to watch it.
- 20:10[SPEAKER_02]: And I just was like, I don't find this funny.
- 20:12[SPEAKER_03]: It is generational for sure.
- 20:14[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 20:14[SPEAKER_02]: So, but that being said, I'm picking an animated movie that Robin Williams was in.
- 20:19[SPEAKER_02]: Do you, can you, can you think about it?
- 20:21[SPEAKER_02]: You, you moved away.
- 20:22[SPEAKER_02]: So, I'm guessing you, uh, you need a little bit of that.
- 20:25[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I know what you're talking about.
- 20:27[SPEAKER_03]: And I don't disagree.
- 20:28[SPEAKER_03]: I think you're saying Aladdin.
- 20:30[SPEAKER_02]: No, no, I'm not.
- 20:32[SPEAKER_02]: It's another one.
- 20:33[SPEAKER_02]: He did not star in a lad.
- 20:35[SPEAKER_02]: Well, he took over the movie.
- 20:37[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, yeah, he took over the movie and there were like 100,000 kids and audiences everywhere trying to figure out who the characters he was portraying as the Genie were.
- 20:48[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, so I'm wrong.
- 20:50[SPEAKER_02]: And I have been wrong for quite some time.
- 20:52[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, wow, thank you.
- 20:54[SPEAKER_02]: It was Mel Brooks who was in this movie, not Robin Williams.
- 20:58[SPEAKER_02]: I always thought it was,
- 20:59[SPEAKER_03]: Mel Brooks didn't animate it.
- 21:01[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, so I always thought it was Robin Williams who was in this movie, and that's why I loved it so much Robin is not credited in this movie at all.
- 21:10[SPEAKER_02]: So it's wow.
- 21:11[SPEAKER_02]: It's been now Brooks the whole time.
- 21:13[SPEAKER_02]: Wow Wow, okay.
- 21:15[SPEAKER_02]: Well anyway, the movie that I'm talking about is robots
- 21:18[SPEAKER_02]: robots.
- 21:18[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's from, I think it's seen it.
- 21:22[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, it's so good.
- 21:24[SPEAKER_02]: Another one of those great movie like theme type movies that I think are great for kids and that kind of stuff.
- 21:29[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 21:30[SPEAKER_02]: It's Mel Brooks.
- 21:30[SPEAKER_02]: I always thought it was Robin Williams.
- 21:33[SPEAKER_02]: Anyway, so it stars you and McGregor, a younger you and McGregor, Haley.
- 21:38[SPEAKER_02]: Haley Barry's in it.
- 21:39[SPEAKER_02]: Paul Aboulos in it as well.
- 21:41[SPEAKER_03]: Mel Brooks is the voice
- 21:43[SPEAKER_02]: Well, yeah, but there's still in Terry Bradshaw.
- 21:46[SPEAKER_02]: Well, they're in Bradshaw.
- 21:48[SPEAKER_02]: Well, they're in it.
- 21:49[SPEAKER_02]: Wow.
- 21:50[SPEAKER_02]: Drew carries in it as well, too.
- 21:52[SPEAKER_02]: Um, okay.
- 21:53[SPEAKER_02]: Anyway, I don't know why I thought what I did with Pete my interest.
- 21:56[SPEAKER_02]: Anyway, it's a great flick.
- 21:58[SPEAKER_02]: I think it's Dream Scapes.
- 21:59[SPEAKER_02]: If I remember correctly off the top of my head, let me make sure I double check that it's from the company that came out with out Ice Age.
- 22:05[SPEAKER_02]: okay I say it was good too yeah yeah a great movie um but uh so the reason why I love this movie is because of the can do attitude of of like the characters in it and actually I think it's you and McGregor's character who says that's a lot but he's like see a need fill it.
- 22:21[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, and I love that line and that line has actually become like my mission statement in life I like that.
- 22:26[SPEAKER_02]: I need fillet.
- 22:27[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, so that and and it's it's a I mean It's it like blockbuster animation like is it gonna did it win awards and that kind of stuff I think it might have won a couple of small awards It did win too.
- 22:39[SPEAKER_02]: Let's see what it says here But it's not like you know, it wasn't like Oscar or anything like that looks like it wanted to ask cap film or maybe an annual word
- 22:49[SPEAKER_02]: It may be a word for casting, maybe kids, choice of words.
- 22:52[SPEAKER_02]: I'm just looking at stuff here really quickly.
- 22:54[SPEAKER_02]: I might actually focusing on the actual information.
- 22:56[SPEAKER_02]: It's been nominated for a lot of stuff.
- 22:59[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, MTV Movie Awards, there we go.
- 23:03[SPEAKER_02]: That just takes my credibility all the way down into the tank.
- 23:06[SPEAKER_02]: But anyway, it's a great film with a great story.
- 23:09[SPEAKER_02]: It's a lot of fun and I just think it's awesome.
- 23:15[SPEAKER_02]: So there you go.
- 23:15[SPEAKER_02]: But like we said on this show quite a few times before everyone has an own opinion and you know, and it's about trying to get you guys to go check out other films and you know maybe stuff that you maybe necessarily haven't seen.
- 23:30[SPEAKER_02]: Do I have any honorable mentions?
- 23:31[SPEAKER_02]: Well, remember for Christmas, maybe.
- 23:33[SPEAKER_02]: Just because I like a lot of those like stop animation type things and I'm a huge Tim Burton fan.
- 23:43[SPEAKER_02]: I love a lot of this stuff that he's done.
- 23:44[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I do too And and I'm gonna go off on another tangent here for those of you that are pinball fans make sure you check out the beetle juice pinball machine It just came out not too long ago.
- 23:53[SPEAKER_02]: It's produced by a company called spooky
- 23:56[SPEAKER_02]: They do pinball machines.
- 23:57[SPEAKER_02]: It's so much fun and so cool and like one of the one of the really cool things you can do in it is you can actually bring beetle juice out.
- 24:05[SPEAKER_02]: You have to say it's like name three times and then the whole machine theme shifts.
- 24:10[SPEAKER_02]: Wow.
- 24:10[SPEAKER_02]: So it's pretty cool.
- 24:11[SPEAKER_02]: It's like state of the art and all that kind of stuff.
- 24:12[SPEAKER_02]: But anyway, all right enough about my nerdiness and the pinball machines that I love.
- 24:16[SPEAKER_02]: But that's the episode and he closing comments.
- 24:20[SPEAKER_03]: Two things before we close out.
- 24:22[SPEAKER_02]: I'm awesome.
- 24:22[SPEAKER_02]: Thank you.
- 24:22[SPEAKER_02]: I appreciate that.
- 24:24[SPEAKER_03]: Probably the reason you are awesome.
- 24:27[SPEAKER_03]: The reason I enjoy animated films so much because I really do like them a lot, even without my grandkids, is that when I grew up, when you went to a movie, you got three things, sometimes four, but three for sure, you got a news reel.
- 24:40[SPEAKER_03]: Ooh, black and white, yeah, I'm old.
- 24:43[SPEAKER_03]: You got a cartoon and I saw the original steam bolt willy with the original Mickey Mouse and then you got the movie back in the 20s, back in the 20s and 30s.
- 24:53[SPEAKER_03]: And then sometimes a double feature.
- 24:56[SPEAKER_03]: So cartoons were part of movies way back when when they used to use them as a preview to the movie movie.
- 25:04[SPEAKER_03]: So I got hooked on that when I was a kid.
- 25:07[SPEAKER_03]: And the other thing I wanted to do is a shout out to
- 25:11[SPEAKER_03]: And then it wouldn't be at the top of my list, but I didn't enjoy this movie immensely, and it's celebrating 15 years in order to...
- 25:21[SPEAKER_02]: any movie that came out 15 years ago?
- 25:23[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 25:24[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 25:25[SPEAKER_03]: Bridesmaid.
- 25:26[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, okay.
- 25:27[SPEAKER_02]: Which I, I, I, I, you know, you're doing a plug for a certain movie theater that's actually playing it this week.
- 25:33[SPEAKER_02]: Is that what this is?
- 25:34[SPEAKER_02]: I, I don't know.
- 25:35[SPEAKER_02]: Your favorite movie theater that you wanted to have like a relationship with on this show.
- 25:40[SPEAKER_02]: Actually, it's showing that movie.
- 25:41[SPEAKER_02]: I think either this week or next week.
- 25:43[SPEAKER_02]: It could be.
- 25:44[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 25:44[SPEAKER_03]: But I just, I didn't think I'd like it.
- 25:47[SPEAKER_03]: I didn't see it for a long time.
- 25:48[SPEAKER_03]: I didn't see when the first came out.
- 25:50[SPEAKER_03]: And then I saw it and I thought, you know what?
- 25:51[SPEAKER_03]: This is actually funny, you know, it really was funny.
- 25:55[SPEAKER_03]: So I really enjoyed it.
- 25:56[SPEAKER_03]: And 15 years just wanted to shout out to you know.
- 26:01[SPEAKER_03]: It's nice when the movie has that kind of longevity where people still remember 15 years later That's what you see.
- 26:06[SPEAKER_03]: There's a lot of movies that have come up over the last 10 years that I couldn't even tell you the name of the movie anymore They're very forgetful.
- 26:12[SPEAKER_03]: Anyway, that's my last thing.
- 26:14[SPEAKER_03]: What was the last movie you reviewed?
- 26:16[SPEAKER_03]: I reviewed.
- 26:17[SPEAKER_03]: We reviewed on this show.
- 26:19[SPEAKER_03]: Helmer?
- 26:20[SPEAKER_03]: Project.
- 26:21[SPEAKER_03]: Project.
- 26:21[SPEAKER_03]: Project Helmer.
- 26:22[SPEAKER_03]: Project Mary Hill.
- 26:23[SPEAKER_03]: Project Mary Hill.
- 26:24[SPEAKER_03]: ET in reverse.
- 26:26[SPEAKER_03]: Is what it was.
- 26:27[SPEAKER_03]: That's what I called it.
- 26:28[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, it was instead of like instead of the alien coming to earth, the earth man went to the alien.
- 26:34[SPEAKER_03]: There you go.
- 26:34[SPEAKER_03]: And then ended up, I'm not going to tell you what he did.
- 26:37[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 26:37[SPEAKER_02]: Well, hey, for more reviews like that, make sure you tune in next week.
- 26:40[SPEAKER_02]: We'll have a review of the Mummy.
- 26:42[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 26:42[SPEAKER_02]: I will also talk about the movies coming out.
- 26:44[SPEAKER_02]: And also our favorite soundtracks that worked for movies.
- 26:47[SPEAKER_02]: And I'll take up a couple of nuggets where the soundtrack actually did better than the movie as well.
- 26:52[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 26:52[SPEAKER_02]: All that and more on the next episode of cheesy popcorn and until back.
